Horrible location

By Demetria M |

Horrible location, no respect for paying guests at hotel. Server was extremely rude. Needs to be a separate location, like down the street

Beautiful Views

By Jojo H |

I've been here twice over the course of the summer. The first time I visited was on a Friday night and the venue had a line that was an 1 hour long wait. Luckily my friends had a table upstairs and I was able to jump the line. Otherwise I would have never waited. The second time was after work during an event on a Tuesday. I really enjoyed it during the day as you see more than just lights. The pool would have been a delight to cool off in, but no one was getting in the pool. The crowd seems to always be very corporate and professional. It is the perfect place to spend a summer day or evening as you absorb the views the city has to offer. The urban jungle is a site to see from the outskirts of the Lower East Side.

great experience

By Abhagat |

Will & James at the lobby cafe made the end of our trip so memorable! I dropped my food right after it came out and they were so sweet about the whole situation. Such funny and kind servers, definitely recommend.

THE rooftop

By Axi C |

First quality experience. Great view and vast space in front of you! I go there often. Nice polite and educated crowd, without the poshness. Good cocktails. Nice for couples and groups of friends.

Great atmosphere

By ElizaOnHolidays |

Fabulous atmosphere very casual and cool. Just what you’d hope to see in NYC, a hidden gem. The outdoor rooftop with pool was closed for winter but I imagine in summer it would be incredible and very hard to get in to. The small cocktail finger food plates were also great. A nice casual, cosy place for a drink in winter. Staff are quite lazy though and we often had to go up to the bar and ask for a drink.

Overpriced. Attitude. Awesome view.

By Toojaysquared |

We aren't the target demographic but local friends took us there for a drink. View is astonishing. But give up the attitude folks. You are bartenders, bouncers, and hostesses. Serving poorly made cocktails in plastic glasses. You are not celebrities (who would act nicer). If you have a trust fund you are golden. I encourage you to go. If you are regular person there are undoubtedly better roof tops to find.

Sunday

By Experience636048 |

I went after brunch on a Sunday afternoon, good views, nice crowd, rosè was good :) a little pricey. In LES check out Pizza Beach right down the street

Great Rooftop — Younger Crowd

By GoHeat |

If you like bars that have big bouncers outside, velvet rope, and the overall sensation that you’re not worthy to be there, this is your place. If you make it into the elevator from the lobby, you will be taken upstairs to a completely different world full of young professionals paying $20 for a cocktail and posing for selfies. I did not see any rowdy behavior but I can see how it could get crazy on a busy weekend night. That said, the rooftop bar is very nice and the views of the skyline are priceless. Most of the clientele is local which, in the context of everything else I saw, makes me wonder if I want to stay at Hotel Indigo and have to fight the crowd to get a drink at the nicest bar in the building.

Strong drinks, great view

By Petite Fannie M |

The drinks are expensive (don't order shots, it was 50$ for 3!!!) but there is a lot of alcohol in them so just drink slower. The wait staff is friendly and quick. The views are amazing. I also want to give a shout out to the amazing doormen/security. I had bumped my head and they really took great care of me, found my friends and made sure I was safe. Thanks again!

Plan Ahead!

By WBWJCR |

We did not get in to Mr. Purple with our large group as we did not make a reservation, but Carlos at the door deserves special recognition for doing his best to accommodate us and taking the time to try to make things work! Most places would have shrugged us off but he did his best and made us feel welcome to return. Thanks Carlos!!

Great Rooftop!

By Joski69 |

Spent a couple of hours here early afternoon on a weekday. We were able to walk right in and had a pick of our seats. Crowds picked up as happy hour approached and the outside bar opened a short time after we arrived. We liked the bar stools at the drink rails that are on the perimeter of the outdoor space. We have been to most all of the roof top bars in NYC and this one has one of the best if not the best views we have ever seen. As crowds picked up the bar service slowed down. That was our sign to move on. Not a fan of the velvet rope scene at the popular places and it moved that way quickly. We would go back for sure but would likely go off hours again.

Celebration!

By Abbott |

For a location loaded with tourists and out of town visitors the place is attractive and interesting with an awesome view of the Big Apple. The welcome receptionist at 1:30pm seems like she is annoyed that customers are coming in. She brings in a container of water and six drinking glasses that looks like they were unwashed! See PICs attached. When receptionist was if their drinking glasses should look like so, she at out responds that it is how they are. So I pointed out the stains on the glasses that I can wipe off with my fingers! She walked away without a word and came back with 6 fairly cleaner glasses. Food was mediocre but drinks were fine served by a much friendlier bartender. The rest of the wait staff was a turn off in their nonchalant attitude like they are being bothered. The reason I did not score terrible is because of the view!

Nice drink and fantastic views

By sphere1966 |

Had to book a table, no problems the drinks were very good with a decent selection, and the views are spectacular, make sure you get outside to see the view.

The Veuve Clicquot Dome was so romantic!

By tashjaisted |

We booked the Veuve Clicquot dome on the rooftop & had a wonderful experience. Cozy faux fur blankets & couches to relax on while sipping champagne & looking at the New York skyline through the clear ceiling was beyond spectacular. A definite must!!

Horrible customer service

By Pavlyshyn O |

I was there with my friend this past Sunday. Very poor service. Nobody came to our table for 30 minutes. The place was half full. 2 waitresses came to take the order after it was already placed. Order took 45 minutes. Although a gentleman who brought it was very polite. Then one waitress came to give us a check, took my card and disappeared. 15 minutes after another came with a check asking for a card, it took them 15 more minutes to locate my card... I have 2 authorizations on my card now and just waiting for transaction to go through so I know if I was charged twice or only authorized twice. All this was done without a slight friendliness. We ended up sitting on the bar because that was the only place where people knew what they are doing. I will never be back.

Wonderful roof top bar!!

By Niobe B |

Recommended by our airbnb host....Mr Purple ended up being a hit for us....truly alot of fun even without the patio open. The drinks were spendy but not outrageous and at least they had a nice choice....don't ask for call alcohol to save money. Great crowd that really didn't get going until after 10pm...great conversation just the same.....yes, you could actually talk to your neighbors and be heard :D Great views! Would be amazing in warm weather I'm sure!

Aperitivo on the Rooftop

By Carlo D |

Great aperitif at the rooftop bar, good variety of cocktails l,beers and wines. I took the Mr. Purple IPA strong and fragrant. I also tried the tuna tartare with avocado and the fish tacos very good both. The service is excellent. The staff is professional and kind. The view from the rooftop is fantastic, perfect place to enjoy the evening.

Beautiful rooftop

By GiaVC |

What an absolutely gorgeous view. Wait time wasn't too horrible but it could probably have been bad for past reviewers. Maybe my wait time should have been excruciating because I surely did wait it out at the bar. Bartenders who get caught up in the mix of a 'busy' crowd and in the height of things exclaim things like hating their job. Just not a fun bar crowd if that's what you're looking for, expensive as well. But if you're looking for a fantastic view of NYC at night this is a good spot. Hopefully will not be charged extra like past poor reviews.

Groovy young singles bar

By Knohanz |

The scene is what people come here for--drinks ok and a nice rooftop deck with a view. But most here just watch each other lol. OK drinks at usual (high) NYC prices.

Great start to a Lower East side evening for sunset drinks

By Greg Wood |

The roof bar makes for a great start to an evening out, watching the sunset over Downtown and a not too often seen view of Brooklyn. Drinks were OK (Moscow Mule, Mojito and Margherita) but prices were high and service was slow as bar area was packed.

2024Jan break

By agcesa |

The place has a nice view, despite they stating you must dress classi and no jeans/sneakers allowed. Everyone was dressed very bad so not a classic place at all.

Very cool roof top bar

By Bill D |

This is a very cool roof top bar on the LES. Inside, it looks great. The people seem cool. The music creates a great atmosphere, and you can have a conversation. Outside, you have two different areas to sit and drink. And the views of Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn are amazing! But the drinks weren't as good as they could be for the prices they're charging. We were sitting at the bar, and I was watching their bartenders make really sloppy drinks. Not precise at all. The Negroni was basically just gin. So, that's why I gave it just 4 stars. It's a nice place, but there's still room for improvement.

What an incredible location

By Bullies65 |

What an incredible location and very cool bar. Even with covid protocols well observed it had a wonderful vibe. It was gale force winds and cold so we couldn’t sit outside unfortunately, but it is stunning with views of the entire Manhattan skyline.

An expensive and pretentious bar, with no atmosphere.

By PopcornMonkeyReviews |

This place is totally overrated, it is an overly expensive and pretentious bar, with no atmosphere or class. We came for a drink and wished we had not bothered. We are staying in the Indigo hotel and were told to go. The views are okay but that's about the only thing this place has going for it. Staff, service, quality of drinks, decor and atmosphere are all in need of overhaul!

Great

By evian21 |

Cool and Hip Rooftop..having fun and really enjoy..Those drinks are outstanding and very unique with spectacular view.. Evian

Proper rooftop bar with terrific skyline views

By Maksim B |

We came here for some drinks on a Friday night and had quite some fun. First tip is, however, get there early, cause otherwise the waiting lines get unpleasantly big. The venue is lively, not to too pretentious and not hipster either. The terrace is actually amazing and pretty spacious with breath-taking view, especially if the sky is clear. The bar tenders are quick and efficient. It is one of the rooftops that you can enjoy!

Best view of NYC

By Katia-spera |

One of the best views of new York City! Very spacious and has a lot of places where to seat to enjoy the 360° view! The pool adds the touch ;) cocktails expensive like in all rooftop bars but beers are ok price. Totally worth it!

Great Food and Great Environment

By Joey D |

Mr. Purple has a great aesthetic to it, as my friend and I took a business associate out for dinner and drinks there. Great views of downtown, beautiful and heated bubble you can sit in on the balcony. Would love to see it in the summer, too.

Pricey but nice

By Mlh |

Very mod very large bar catering tona younger clientele. Music can be quite loud after 7. The rooftop view is beautiful. It has a deck bar and small heated pool. While the deck bar wasnt open cause of the cool temps, theres a greenhouse type igloo shaped dome on rooftop deck that is quite cosy with comfy furnishings that can be enjoyed with a drink from the inside bar when the weather is cooler. No happy hour here! Drinks are pricey but hood

Gorgeous view

By cicchiamichael |

This place is really popular and it does have great drinks, The views are wonderful. The prices are not outrageous like they often are at the most popular bars. And Mr Purple is often at the top of the list for rooftop bars.

Hidden gem

By Aras74 |

We are really into the rooftop bars of New York and we found this gem of a bar after doing a local tour. Great service and atmosphere and cocktails were awesome. We were on the roof when a storm hit -which made the experience very unique! Staff dealt with this very well and cleared everyone indoors before anyone was injured. Well worth a visit as this is a unique experience :)

Friday night drinks

By Markh1205 |

We had just checked in after arriving fairly late and headed straight upto the roof top bar ! Great views across LES and a funky vibe, we didnt stay long but the vibe was cool.

Amazing view

By Melissa T |

Elite bar part of the indigo hotel. Hard to get in at night but worth an afternoon cocktail. The view is sensational. Check out the pool too.

Hip hotel in the lower east side

By Neil M |

Had a great stay here for my partners birthday. They kindly gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne and room with a spectacular view. Only downside of this hotel is that the rooftop bar is so popular with the locals that you can't get a seat even if you're a guest as all tables are reserved before you know it.

A pearl on Lower East Side

By SirFabulous |

The place has an amazing view from Downtown and great vibes! The cocktails were good, the place looks great and the music is good. If anything, the music was a tad loud and we had to sit downstairs to have a conversation. It was also super windy when we went, so we couldn't really stay on the rooftop terrace, but given that the weather is on your side it would be absolutely amazing to chill and lounge on their rooftop. Will definitely come back!

Rate 0 if I could!!!

By Samuel |

Probably one of my worst experiences as a customer!!! People say the prices were high! I’m not rich but I’m not bothered by the prices! It’s New York and it’s a cool bar with great views! BUT the staff are disgustingly rude!! Service was terrible! The hosts I don’t even have words to describe! So unbelievably rude!! Stuck up and couldn’t give a monkeys about the customers!!! I’d recommend this place to absolutely NO ONE!!! save yourself the trip!! Cooler places!!

Good views

By heather12345 |

We visited for a drink before dinner. Enjoyed the gin cocktail I tasted.it was a Wednesday night and very busy but got a seat at the bar.liked the decor and the outdoor spaces-went out for a short while to see views as very cold.would visit before dark next time

Spectacular roof top bar with pool

By IWebb |

Stunning bar, great vibe, cool customers, buzzing vibe, great music and DJ, amazing sunsets over the city. Pool to finish it off

What a view!

By jam7jen |

After our 8hr flight from Italy we dumped out bags at our hotel, showered then came straight to this fab bar overlooking New York City. Loved it, cocktails were strong but great and the huge dish of guacamole to munch on with our nachos was so delicious- but the best was just taking in the spectacular views of NYC - even the jet-lag that was starting to sink in couldn’t take the excitement away from being here ❤️

Fun & Fabulous!

By KimberlyListek |

I was wandering the lower east side neighborhood and came across the Indigo Hotel, it was a hip and fun artsy vibe, the lobby was full of people waiting to get up to Mr Purple so I waited out of curiosity. It was a short wait of 20/30 min and very much worth it. The views were breathtaking and the cocktails were delicious. There was a DJ who was playing the jams and the vibe of the room was on point! I will for sure be back as soon as possible to Mr Purple!

Great rooftop spot for food and drinks.

By Kimberley L |

Had great food and great service. Really nice rooftop bar with indoor and outdoor options, plenty of seating and lounge areas, and an excellent food and cocktail menu.

Spectacular Rooftop Reception During Our Company's Global Conference

By Kelley L |

My company recently held a global conference in New York City that included many European attendees. We selected Mr. Purple because of the beautiful space, impressive rooftop view as well as the location being in the Lower East Side and out of buttoned-up midtown. Our group absolutely loved Mr. Purple. They found the reception to be the highlight of the conference and a great opportunity to experience the downtown atmosphere in a beautiful and energetic space that highlighted the beauty of the city. We had an open bar and buffet - the food was delicious. The drinks were spot on and they created a fun mocktail for our non-drinking colleagues. Genifer Ryan ran our event brilliantly and ensured the reception ran smoothly without any issues. She was a fantastic hostess, very customer-service and detail-oriented. It seemed that things got pretty crowded around 8:00 pm (it was a Sunday) so I'd recommend arriving on the earlier side to avoid lines and waiting. There is a great Empire State Building view and the sunset was beautiful from the West side of the rooftop. Overall, Mr. Purple provided us with a great venue and event thanks to the help of Genifer Ryan, who managed the event, and her colleague Kristen Sievers who helped coordinate the event initially.

Loved the view (s)

By Peterisacksen |

How do you not love rooftop bars in nyc??? Week, this one is on the 15th floor down here in the LES. The views are twofold. The people and the city. If you love to hang and like make new friends than this is a great spot. If you just want to chill and gaze at this beautiful city.., that's cool too. It's maybe a tad overpriced and the food could be upgraded, but the vibe is 10 star worthy. It's crowded most night so call ahead and book a table. It's inly going to get worse as it warms up. Fun spot to drink and see the city.

So..So..

By evian21 |

This time both of us are disappointed on the all drinks and services from Mr. Purple ..Especially the foods are pricey and too salty..We don't mind paying more but not a great place for foods and enjoying.

Pleasure

By Litouli |

Very bad attitude from both the manager and the stuff. Worth of actually suing them. Very posh and snob place. Just a pretty face, nothing else. We were mind to them and they were really rude.

Terrible bar service and unnecessary queuing system. Will not be going back!

By Anna B |

We waited almost 40 minutes downstairs in line and when we got to the bar, it was not even busy. Despite the bar having great views of the city and playing good music, the mood was quickly dampened by the bar service. One bartender in particular (of medium build and dark, short brown hair) was very rude. When I went to pay my tab, he said it declined yet he hadn't even swiped the card through! When I asked for him to actually swipe the card, he said he had done 3 times and it was declined. I asked him to actually swipe it in front of me as I knew there was no reason for it to be declined. He did and it went through! He continued to play along with his act and didn't apologize. VERY rude and the worst bar experience I have ever come across!!

It's about the views

By steven_wilkinson |

Ok - you may want to be outdoors on a hot day - but this place is about the views. When we were there, most of the seating had been reserved - although what for is anyones guess as mostly is was vacant for the hour and a bit we were there. A smallish bar serving cold drinks - and a view of NY from above. The atmosphere was nothing - but the view was special. You should come here for 30 minutes, one drink, take your photo's, line up for the one single toilet - then move on to the next place. Don't forget your camera.

A NIGHTMARE AT MR. PURPLE!

By Edith F |

Not the place to go to if you want to have a fun time with friends. The staff is horrendous! Super Rude. The crowd is corny the women all look the same with the same temu outfits on. Drinks are awful. My friend got sick from the food. And there was a dead mouse in the bathroom. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DIVE!!!

Cool NYC spot like other hip places...

By PhiaPhia |

Was there at a private event. Fun to be around. Not sure if this is for tourists, unless you are in 20s or young clients.

I visited the roof top bar only

By jarossos |

Get there before 5pm to have the hope of a seat! Always a queue but one up ther, lovely views, a nice relaxed vibe. Good drinks menu and not too crazy pricing! Small pool. Sun till late. Didn't seem to be a dress code per se. But a lot of people ore more elegant outfits. I would like to try the hotel next time.

Beautiful Views of Manhattan Skyline, Specialty Cocktails, Local Beer on Tap

By wetsuitdrymartini |

We were not guest of the Indigo Hotel. However, this was a place we met for lunch and would recommend. The service was attentive and suggestions were great. We had the specialty cocktails and the Manhattan is one I would recommend. Rooftop bar menu offers Champagne/sparkling wines and such by Magnums, bottles, splits & glasses. Being this property is poolside...Beverage Glasses are made of clear resin. we had the Fresh Oysters and Tuna Tartar and both were excellent. I would also recommend the beef sliders and Flatbreads as they were cooked and perfectly seasoned. I hear the buttermilk chicken sandwich is a brunch favorite

Top views and great atmosphere

By MDAsia53 |

Popped in after dinner with colleagues. Great spot for downtown uptown viewing. Great cocktails, roof deck bar was the place to be. Will definitely go back

Nice Surprise

By LuceSanAntonio |

Stayed at the hotel for a week and enjoyed being and the pool and bar . I found Olivia Maddy Ricky all to be extremely friendly and professional . You really hired 3 gem’s . Didn’t know anything about the hotel before booking only that I wanted a pool and be close to Brooklyn where my son lives .

Appreciate

By Dreamer18 |

Happy to be here with all friends and relatives whom trying to spend some holidays atmosphere..This cozy place are not bad to gather around with favourite drinks and of cause people too.. On the other hand we would like to mention our room as well, since we are writing the same properties..Check into a fresh and nice room also have to give thumbs up to my Room Attendant [I Ling ] who me really pay attention to details and strongly recommend us to Mr.Purple for snacks and drinks...thanks again...

Fun and funky bar with great views

By The_Morgan_Family |

Glass box on top of the hotel with views of the city on 3 sides. Worth going for the view and the sparkling Negroni.

Find other place!

By yuris1009 |

First of all, the food is overpriced as you can see the picture, hotdog $8 ice-cream $6 seriously??? and we have to order at least 1 food per person. We just wanted enjoy the view and drinks. Second, we asked for a table sheltered from the wind but the receptionist Kelsey she told me that the other table is booked for the other big number group. Therefor we spent an hour and couldn’t help stay any longer. When we just about to leave I found out the other customer who was already there, they just moved the table where we wanted. People of 3 with dog, really? Did you Kelsey really kept the table for them?! I can’t believe what you told me and what you’ve done to us! The manager should take care of this seriously.

All about the incredible views!

By Mandi V |

Besides Press Lounge, Mr. Purple has to be one of the best rooftop bars with a wicked view. I've been here a few times. Once on a Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday and all nights have been a blast! I really love the vibe...both indoor and outdoor. They do have a DJ who plays a different types of music. There's tons of seating and space outside to chill, actually two outdoor areas. Would definitely recommend coming here earlier than later as they get a bit funny about not letting people up even if there are not at capacity. The doorman are cool, the bartenders however are not friendly. Definitely go if you're about the VIEWS!

Thanks for accommodating my breastfeeding needs!

By Michelle718 |

Came here for a bachelorette party for the day. Any breastfeeding mom knows you can’t stay out/go more than a few hours without pumping or else you’ll be in a world of hurt. So I brought my pump and asked the desk on 14 if there was a place with an outlet where I could go that was semi private. Shari was super nice and let me pump in a private conference room. It was a lifesaver. Really appreciate the hotel accommodating me and Shari for being so nice!

Go for the Roof-Top

By -MyLifeOfTravel- |

After work outing with a group for happy hour. You really are paying for the ambiance and the view, which are both wonderful. Nice oasis with comfy couches and good snacks. Service was incredibly slow.

A Racist Establishment

By Tanya M |

I made reservations for a table, sent them their credit card authorization and received confirmation that everything was set to go. When my friends and I arrived, they acknowledged they had my reservations but refused to let us in and refused to give a reason only stating "we have the right to be selective." We were on time and everyone was nicely dressed. At $100 per person, we expected to be treated well. Looking around the line, it was obvious what the difference was, we had black people in our group. Never again will I grace that establishment with my presence or with my black dollars.

Awesome (free) view of NYC skyline from the rooftop bar

By cbcb60 |

I've been to both the Empire State Building and the Rockefeller Centre in the past and those both offer very impressive views, but if you're looking for somewhere with free entry, along with the option to sit and relax with a drink while enjoying a great view then this is a great option. My only tip is that there's relatively limited space and seating outside so try to get there early in the day, otherwise you may find yourself competing for seats when they free up. Great spot for a date, drinks with friends or a solo visit to enjoy the view.

Trendy spot with amazing views

By Victoria U |

The drinks are pricey but strong. Well worth the views of both the people watching and skyline. There are 2 outdoor terraces, the one on the left is smaller and quieter. Perfect for catching up with friends.

Three vacations in one!

By Reta H |

Good food; comfortable setting; views are amazing! Good service at pool, bar, and a brunch with our family and friends.

Rooftop sympa

By Lapin2301 |

Rooftop located on the 15th floor of a building on the lower East Side with stunning views of down Town especially at sunset or at night. There are two areas outside which is pretty nice. On the other hand, cocktails are really not exceptional: many ice cubes and therefore very quickly aqueous, sometimes elongated with soda ... The music as often in New York is quickly deafening: it feels like a club (a club that exists but is supposed to be only on the 14th floor though) Awards are high for cocktails, especially if it makes you want to snack on something. Reservation required.

This is the place for a sundowner

By Go100go |

Great terrasse with a samll pool overlooking the city on the 15th floor. Very relaxed and cool with beautiful people. Was there at 1800 and the place was not packed but with a good crowd.

Great View but Very Rude Staff!

By Rebecca H |

Mr Purple was recommended by a friend before my trip to New York and so we decided to pay a visit to hopefully watch the sunset and enjoy a memorable evening. Unfortunately it was memorable but for the wrong reasons and we left feeling very deflated and upset. The bar was busy, which is understandable given the great view of the skyline and the time we visited (around 7pm). The music was incredibly loud and really just meant that everyone was shouting at one another, which was not conductive to a good atmosphere. Everyone in the bar we encountered was very drunk, which we thought was unusual seeing as it was relatively early on in the night. We decided to treat ourselves to cocktails and so my friend went to the bar while I grabbed a spot for us. Around 25 minutes later my friend returned with our drinks and was visibly upset. She informed me that the barman had been incredibly rude to her and that he had also over-charged for our drinks. My friend had been ignored at the bar and only after speaking up did she receive any acknowledgement whatsoever that she was waiting to be served, the barman simply said, "what?" and my friend placed our order. Upon receiving our drinks and our change, my friend looked at what she had been given in order to work out how much to tip, at which point the barman lent over to my friend's ear and said, "and that's why I didn't bother to serve you" before walking off. My friend did not fully understand what he meant by this and also upon checking her change realised the he had overcharged us anyway...I'm not sure whether the barman thought he deserved the change from $100 bill for two $17 cocktails? His reaction leads me to believe that this was the case? After this incident we went out to the outside balcony area to try to enjoy the view as the sun went down and were approached by a couple of men within 5 minutes of standing there. Both were very rude when we did not act flattered by their advances, despite us being as polite as possible (and both having boyfriend's back at home!). They made us feel very intimidated and in the end after the barman being so rude to us as well, we just decided to abandon our drinks and leave. All in all I think we must have only spent 45 minutes there and i'm afraid that what could have been a really special evening of our New York trip was ruined. We got some photos of the sunset but that's the only positive we can unfortunately take from the experience.

So disappointing

By Antoine_V |

The bar tender pretended I gave him 45 $ when I paid 60$ cash for a 42 $ bill.... Ridiculous and petty: I was about to tip him 10$, anyway. It gives you a hint of the atmosphere there. The Hotel is great, while bar is pretentious and vain, even if the view is extraordinary.

Chatoic

By rcarril |

Mr. Purple bar was so chaotic that we couldn't even make it to the bar itself. There were so many drunk people and so overcrowded that the it was impossible to order a drink. This place is full of drunken 20 year olds (we saw some actually throwing up in the bar and on another occasion the security guards wrestling a drunken man). This hotel should advise guests before they book a room there that it attracts this kind of element. I would never have stayed there if i knew that sort of environment existed there. The lobby is hammered with drunken 20 years old and sometimes you have to wait for a couple of elevators due to all the people headed up to the 15th floor.

Fantastic!

By nicolette c |

Everything about this place was fantastic. It was our first rooftop and the view was spectacular and the food and drinks were great too! I loved our setup and felt we had a lot of space

Gorgeous view, gorgeous outdoor area (including heated pool!), kinda quirky!

By Claire W |

We visited just after New Year's Eve and really wished we had gone there to see in the new year! You can see the whole of the New York skyline, which at night time, is stunning. We enjoyed wine, pleasant service and it had a very chilled quirky vibe. I would absolutely become a regular there if I lived nearby!

Amazing view

By schlipa |

This rooftop bar on top of the hotel indigo is worth a visit. It offers an amazing view of the financial district including the World Trade Center as well as a view of downtown and the Empire State Building. It gets very busy at the weekends. The drinks were delicious and the staff very friendly.

Great cocktails and view of the city

By liz vr |

Went here for a drink with a couple of girlfriends. drinks were on the expensive side, but unique and delicious. They had a DJ, which was interesting and set the mood. Would go back. Note - there is only 1 bathroom!!

Poor customer service

By Zuzana H |

Absolutely the worst experience. Usually I am not writing reviews, but now I feel I have to. Security guards are very aggressive, at one point I got a feeling they are looking to create a problem. Me and my friends were standing – I am not kidding good 3 meters from the door way and the security guard just shouted at us to move. So we did. Then I just saw him behind my back and he pushed me in the back saying I told you to move. I called a manager and some girl came to see us didn’t even introduce herself and I was explaining to her the situation and show her where he pushed me. All of the sudden the same guy grabbed me and said we gotta go because I touched his manager. I said that I pointed where he pushed me. Another manager came down, first I asked him for his name, to know who I am talking to because at this point I got enough and after my question he just ran away. And also I have to mention to poor customer service. We got a bottle of wine at the bar downstairs and the bartender told me to go upstairs to ask for glasses because they don’t have any left. The view is awesome but the staff is ruining that place.

Swanky Rooftop Bar

By The Good Life Traveling |

Mr. Purple, a rooftop bar and restaurant located on the 15th floor of Hotel Indigo Lower East Side and can be a bit tricky to find. Once we found the bar/restaurant, we were quickly escorted to a nice small table. Mr. Purple is acclaimed as one of NYC’s most popular and lively rooftop bars. It offers breathtaking views of the city, from the Empire State Building to One World Trade Center. This would be a great rooftop bar to enjoy a drink while watching the sunset. We were there much after sunset, but we still enjoyed the vibrant inside bar area. Service and drinks were good, and I would definitely recommend this stop for a drink. We didn’t try the food, so it may be a great place to nosh on some aperitifs.

Great cocktails and amazing views

Very nice, cocktails 🍸 original, very beautiful views and pleasant people, I recommend the place for a sunset and a glass in a nice place.

Excellent Cafe with Stunning Views of Lower Manhatten

By Melissa G |

Loved making this my daily place to have a coffee, with or without staying at the hotel. The cafe is located in the lobby of the hotel on the 14th floor and has a gorgeous view of lower Manhattan. I highly recommend! The only reason I can rate this a five star is because I did not have the food or cocktails, though I am sure they are wonderful.

A super cool rooftop, where people socialize

By Mariemma B |

We have stayed at this hotel several times with good rapport to the area in the East Village within walking distance to Chinatown and Little Italy. There are a lot of good restaurants and breakfast places in the area. The subway is within walking distance. The lobby is very attractive and one finds a lot of working area, besides meeting area. Everybody is attentive without being overwhelming. The rooftop is the in place to go for a drink.

Rooftop Event

By Gayle R |

We called to see if the rooftop was open and they said yes, so we set out on a very long walk.... only to find out there was an event and we could not get in. That was a huge disappointment. Next time we will ask a lot of questions since the view looks pretty sweet!

Amazing views!

By jdr1993 |

There were some incredible views from this rooftop bar, with exceptional views of the entire city. We could see as south as the World Trade Centre and as north as Times Square, and if you want unrivalled views of Manhattan, this is ideal. The atmopshere was good, the bar busy, and the drinks reasonably priced.

if you want top notch service. go elsewhere.

By Jeff Slo |

Service in the bar/lounge/rooftop is awful and really unacceptable. i brought it specifically to mgmt attention during stay and they did nothing. also, this place is loud. . it is like a casino. go somewhere nice instead.

Wonderful afternoon visit very chill and great views

By rogersgreen |

Perfect for a rainy or in-climate day we just had appetizers drinks and chilled. The wine by the glass was wonderful with lots of choices. Try it by day!!

Excellent rooftop

By Chewbee |

A very nice rooftop in NYC, not many tourist, mostly young customer, great music. Perfect place for people below 35 ;)

Fantastic

By Paolo1005 |

Fantastic spot with an awesome view of the Lower East Side drinks are good and reasonably priced, and the Music was excellent! I will go back!

Pay for the view not the food

By Mama_T_56442 |

The sort of food that is served here is the sort of food that American style restaurant chains sell to us in England. Beef burgers and buttermilk chicken sliders and chips. We were seated on the Ludlow Street Side - overlooking the Ludlow Hotel. There is no glass wall here - like the small one on the pool side - so to really get a view, depending upon where you're seated, you may have to walk around the small space. Around one corner, there is a view of the Freedom Tower. The better view is on the poolside. I realise that the reason that I am focussing on the view is that there is nothing to say about the food. We ate here because we were staying here and found the idea of the roof top restaurant exciting. It wasn't really - the inside was mainly reserved, that's why we sat outside - even though we were initially told that there was no outside service- and the bill wasn't worth it. That really came home to us in the subsequent days when we realised what brilliant restaurants there were on our door-step. I couldn't fault the service from the Mr Purple waitresses/waiters though. If you're prepared to pay for the view, then come here - because that's essentially what you're paying for.

Cool vibey rooftop bar - pre-book table

By Gemima123 |

Loved this rooftop bar, the views are amazing... only managed 5 minutes outside as it was freezing in march! But the views from inside were just as good! Be sure to pre book a table as it is very popular and you may have to be put on a waiting list

Group + Table = 🎉

By tawni r |

Celebrated a friends birthday here with a group of 10! We didn't have a reservation, as usual 🙈 our option was to wait in line and enter one by one, or to purchase a table with bottle service. We chose the table, and we're extremely impressed! You can only access the rooftop if you have purchased a table - they won't let anyone at the bar outside. The view was incredible! We had so much fun!

The place to be

By Destinationexplore |

The perfect place to take in the city skyline with a cocktail in hand and watch the sun go down. Such a great rooftop bar in a very cool hotel.

Great view

By Oxfordgal |

Great view from the bar at the top of the hotel. The service was good and the music was fun. Great place to have drinks with a group of friends.

Sunset drink

By MariaT |

The view was really impressive, maybe the best roof top in town although it's only on the 25th floor.

amazing

By tammy f |

great music, people and food. The drinks were outstanding and we had a entire area off to the side so we could still talk and still be part of all the action.

Summer time

By MI6Reviewer |

An excellent rooftop bar assuming you can get up there. If the weather is great be sure to get there early or be prepared to wait in line for a while. Well worth the wait as the views are spectacular and the drinks are just as great. A little pricey, but hey, its New York

Good staff and a strong Long Island

By blairelliot |

The Rooftop pool and bar is a cool place to hang out on weekends but doesn't stay open late during the week. Very funky vibe but you want the music to be louder. You know it's a good place when there's a line of people outside to get in. The price of drinks and food verge on the crazy, even before you factor in the choice of 15%, 17.5% or 20% tips they suggest down your throat.

Outstanding rooftop bar scene

By Elitefreak |

Mr. Purple has a substantial outdoor area with lots of casual seating but also standing area. Great cocktail list. Killer views to the north (Empire State) and south (1 WTC). There is also substantial indoor space for days when the weather is not cooperating.

Amazing views

By Tracey H |

Good music, always busy, staff are friendly and attentive, amazing views across NYC skyline. Worth staying in the hotel too!

What a View!

By Rafuls |

If you're looking for a nice spot for drinks with a view, hit up Mr. Purple. The elevator takes you up to the top of the hotel where you enter straight into the indoor lounge section of the restaurant. Stay indoors for the music, or head on outside for incredible views of the city. The prices are comparable to the rest of the city, but the quality was absolutely solid.

Just THE PLACE in Lower East Side

By fdiazmex |

Great place to see and be seen . as all good IN places service is very bad specially when crowded .. so be patient relax and enjoy the views

Great atmosphere

By Than P |

Shiny urban atmosphere, great music, superb drinks and a rooftop part with an igloo for the shivering winter nights

Nice rooftop

By michaelibrahim11 |

The rooftop is cool with a couple of bars but the line i had to wait for was tedious relative to the experience. May be because it was raining on that day so they had to let everyone indoors.

Absolutely Excellent Roof Top Bar

By ReeceLiang |

There's no shortage of roof top bars in New York City, but this one still manages to stand out. It is just as fancy as you would want it to be while still maintaining a comfortable, conversational environment. The bartender when I went on a Thursday night gave generous pours and the french fries, although expensive ($10), were actually fantastic. This place is an intimate place, great for dates. I arrived after sunset but my friends who caught it said it was gorgeous. There was a slight wait getting in around 8p, just less than 10 minutes but very worth it in my opinion

Fantastic views!

By Kate B |

This rooftop bar is perfect for pre-dinner drinks, I would recommend to book a table if you want to sit outside as it can be quite busy. Excellent views, lovely cocktails (prices are reasonable, glass of wine upwards of $12 and cocktails from $16) music quite loud but just what you need to start the night off in style! Even has a small swimming pool (for hotel guests only I assume) definitely one of the best rooftops in manhattan!

Great rooftop bar

By Laurensophia_7 |

Mr Purple isn't the easiest place to spot, we had to ask the doorman how to get there. The surrounding area isn't the nicest either, however Mr Purple is a great rooftop bar. The cocktails were very nice and the views of Manhattan were fantastic. There was a nice chilled atmosphere inside, I would definitely recommend visiting.

Fun rooftop location!

By Sonia Jean-Baptiste |

Great view, perfect to unwind after a long day with some friends. If you're staying at Hotel Indigo, it's the perfect place to have a drink and go straight back to your room!

Bad service and rude staff

By Karolin L |

Food is really expensive for what you get. Really slow service and rude staff. No lights on so it is difficult to see the menue and the food.

taken money from my account for no reason twice

By Sam Squelch |

Myself and 2 friends reserved a table for lunch and drinks, I had to reserve this by filling in there table reservation form and giving my card details a few weeks prior. The bill came to 800 dollars which was paid on the day on my friends card. However, when looking on my banking app the following days, the bar has charged me for a completely different order of 1200 dollars, even though my friend paid on the day with his card. The bar told me they issued a credit which they did. A day later I find another 1200 dollars in my pending transactions from mr purple, 2400 dollars taken with no reason. I have messaged the managers on multiple occasions who denied the second transaction until I showed them the screenshot from my banking app. After this I have not heard from them since and they will not respond to my messages. I would go as far as saying it is fraud and theft and highly recommend people do not deal with this bar if you are looking to pay by card, pay by cash only or do not go at all.

Amazing views

By gloriavallfor |

Yesterday we went to have some drinks at Mr.Purple. The views of NY's skyline are amazing!! One of the best top rooftops I've been in NYC! However the cocktails were a bit overpriced and weren't up to par!

Hip rooftop spot

By MrsRI |

We enjoyed our time at Mr. Purple...vwry cool scene...the views were pretty good too. One of the bartenders was a bit of a jerk but other than that we would def go back

Awesome spot with stunning view

By HanKelly |

Maybe some of the most expensive drinks I've ever experienced but you are paying for the unreal view of the NYC skyline. Very trendy and very crowded you take an elevator to get up here. Very cool spot.

Ridiculous view of NYC!

By Lara V |

We were told of this spot by a local NY girl who said that it is where she and her girlfriends go every weekend, so we went to check it out! Was quite had to find as there are no signs and we didn't know it was part of a hotel. Anyway finally found it and up we went - the view took our breath away, it was slightly windy so we sat inside at first but then braved the wind for some lovely photos! Drinks were pretty standard in design and price, there was nice music playing and the crowd an eclectic mix of what appeared to be locals and foreigners. Highly recommend!

Amazing views, a bit pretentious - beware card 'pre approval'!

By laura m |

Great bar, great views, good range of drinks and knowledgeable barman. A bit pretentious table staff a bit pretentious but what do you expect in new york.. Word of warning- pay for your drinks at the bar as you go, if you open a tab they 'pre authorise your card' aka charge you $25 which they refund (still to get it back..) but more to the point dont tell you beforehand. Went to much nicer, high end bars and none of them did this

Amazing rooftop view!

By Sarah J |

Visited Mr. Purple this past Saturday night and the view of Manhattan was well worth the trip! The cocktails were good and the music and vibes were on point.

Great view and drinks!

By Kasventures |

The view is INCREDIBLE! Unfortunately we went over Thanksgiving break, so it was too cold to really enjoy the roof top, but we will definitely be going back when it is warmer and enjoy the pool and a drink on the roof. I also enjoyed the art displayed everywhere. Read more about it and our other MUST DO's in NYC in our blog @ Kasventures.org

Awesome views

By Freddie Prince |

Came here for some for bevvies, beers arent cheap but comes with a cracking view! Lovely outdoor area.

Super cool bar

By City Lover |

Really nice bar, beautiful views and great cocktails. Only downside, is it’s super hard to get a taxi back to Times Square.

Paying for the view

By FinanceGuy99 |

I loved the outdoor patio, the surrounding views were spectacular. The prices reflect the views, so be prepared.

On the hunt for the perfect rooftop, this hits many marks!

By What_I_did_in_NYC |

It's fairly large, it has great views, the music is fun and not overly loud and the crowd is a mix of young and not-as-young-ish. What more could you ask for? Seriously, in my search for a decent rooftop this summer, I think this one is the winner thus far. You have views of downtown, uptown, east and west, plus plenty of tables (including high ones) to sit and enjoy drinks. I have a feeling the biggest con about this rooftop is being able to get in, which was not a problem for the group I was with given that we had a connection. That said, it's probably good idea to get there on the early side so you can snag a spot. We arrived Saturday at 8pm and there was already a pretty long line forming, so keep that in mind as you're making your plans. The good thing is, given it's convenient location in the Lower East Side, even if you don't get in, you can always find something else nearby to satisfy your cravings! So in or not, probably a win win.

Trendy place to see and be seen.

By baune27 |

Great trendy hotel, the bar has amazing views but gets packed quickly as it is a trendy place to be see and be seen.

Did You Say Oysters?

By Debbie D |

My daughter insists that she orders oysters when we go the the Mr. Purple Restaurant. She has never been disappointed. I enjoyed my drink and food as well. It is important not to go to this restaurant during happy hour because it is too busy.

Amazing views.

By rachelmccabe22 |

Nice little roof top bar with fantastic views. Stick to local gin as a round of 3 bombay gins was $55 plus tip! Stayed for one. Not a lot of music and no smoking area on the roof top which is way we didn't stay long.

Horrible experience

By Angela Milutinovic |

I was subjected to discrimination by a security guard and subsequently confronted by his female companion, who, although not an employee of the place, seemed to have a prior acquaintance with him. While I prefer not to delve into further details, I find the operational practices of Mr.Purple to be unacceptable. Furthermore, it is regrettable that Gerber Company does not take the necessary time to ensure the selection of suitable individuals for their business.

Cant beat this view

By lemullinax |

I was floored by the view here! The place is surrounded by windows which offers a spectacular view from any seat! And the patio of course also has a great view of the city but also has a really cool pool as well. It makes your NYC night almost feel like a Miami night. Cocktails are fabulous as well! Great place for a night out!

Good drink, amazing view and lots of fun

By ventsurlonde |

The drinks here are very expensive but very good. The view is instagram worthy over both midtown and lower manhattan. It attracts fairly young crowd. The special pride event was a lot of fun. It was a very fun place to take in good drink, good view and good vibe. Bar service however is slow and has attitude.

Breathtaking Views and Vibes!

By Jacques D |

The views on the Rooftop is giving you the Experience you need to feel the moment. Amazing food, great drinks. The staff is very welcoming and puts you at ease. It's chill, luxurious, sexy and smooth all at the same time. Anywhere in this place that you go to, you will have a good time and want to come back again. Cheers to those who come to experience it as you will want an encore!

No.

By Lutingeant |

Avoid it. We lived in the indigo hotel in which is located the purple bar, we wanted to have a drink in the evening upon arrival, we settled at a table, waited 15min, no one came to serve us and after 15min a waitress finally shows up to put a reserved label and tell us that we must leave in 5min. So we left without having a drink... The next day we show up to inquire about breakfast and we are informed that they are independent of the hotel and that their breakfast has nothing to do with the hotel. Strange organization.

A great time!

By Lara G |

Had a great time drinking here with my friends on a Saturday afternoon after brunch in the summer. It was full of young people all out having a good time. The line is worth the wait if there is one, since it is one of the few rooftops in the area. I would love to come back and see it lit up at night.

Fabulous if you are one of the ' beautiful people'

By Sharcox |

At 11am in the morning every single table is 'reserved' but if your face fits or you spend enough money you could be squeezed in. I visited the bar as I was staying at the hotel but the service between the two could not be more different. I felt totally ignored until ordering a bottle of champagne at $150 and suddenly the service changed. It's really a place for the beautiful people in their 20s rather than a trendy middle aged couple.

Cannot beat the views

By bbiermann2018 |

I stayed at the Hotel Indigo LES for work and this was the easy place to grab dinner after work. The prices are... well they are NY prices. The food was good, the cocktails tasty, but the beer was very limited. Did I mention the views?

Great views of the Empire State Building and Freedom tower!

By jessnich |

Nice roof top bar with great views. Took a while to get served at the bar and it wasn't very busy. Great drink though typical ny prices!

Great spot for indulging

By Vedat K |

The moment you walk up to this place you know you are in a place you'd want to spend the whole evening (which we did). The views are breathtaking. You'd expect this kind of view of Manhattan from being in Brooklyn Heights or something! Our waitress was really good. She was right there when we needed to update our drinks. And surprisingly, everything is reasonably priced for a place of this calibre.

Great views, frustrating service

By JNFM |

This restaurant has a great view of the city but be prepared to deal with really poor service. We waited 20 min before being helped. During that time we asked 2 people if we had a server and they said they would get her. We finally had to go to the inside bar to order our own drinks and food. At that point she finally came over and wanted to transfer the ticket! There is no sense of urgency or putting the customer first in this place.

Upscale experience and killer views

By Scott C |

I had the chance to visit here for a business event this week, during the first snowstorm of the year. The staff and the clientele are both very upscale, and the views of the city are spectacular. Lots of very nice outdoor areas, including a pool… sadly unable to use them due to the weather that evening. Really nice experience, which I look forward to coming back to one day.

Superb Rooftop

By Audrey G |

Very nice discovery, the entrance to the splendid building, free entrance and magnificent bar with very nice views of Manhattan. We meet lawyers coming out of the office and also the youth of Manhattan. Outdoor pool very nice terrace and impeccable Service.

Bank Card cloned by bar!! Disgraceful

By C m c |

Went here for a 30th birthday party, hired a table for 6 of us with a minimum spend of $600. The staff asked for a card to pay the balance/hold for the account. Next day the bank called to say the card had been cloned and 4 withdrawals made of around $5-600 a time. Called mr purple multiple times no answer, so left a voice mail, no reply, no apology. This was done by the staff at mr purple!! Watch out.

Fantastic Views

By bris2222 |

So glad we found this place - amazing rooftop bar with a swimming pool (for hotel guests only) amazing views across Manhattan. Service was a bit slow and there was a lack of shade on a very hot day but the atmosphere and drinks were great.

No service one time, poor service and poor value the second.

By jim b |

Staying at Hotel Indigo, Lower East Side. looking for place to eat and get a drink, Indigo front desk who recommended Mr. Purple. Bad idea. Waited half-hour to get waited on. Nothing. Had Mr. Purple breakfast vouchers from the hotel. Went back. marginally better, but not to the tune of $30.

a bit off the touristic path - a very good roof top for sunset - go before area developps to much

By YAL Man of Mystery |

As a new yorker I regret that my old place in LES disappeared (karaoke a couple of year ago, and Georgia Barbecue last week) so I was reluctant to go there as a protest of these new developments. I swallowed my pride and some visitors took me there. it is a very nice rooftop with nice view of downtown landmarks, perfect for sunset. I would eat there it is way too noisy when inside (and all know that NY bars and restaurant are very noisy - this is worse) There does not seem to be table service outside. but bar was rather accessible. nice place to go before checking our restaurant in the neighborhood (unfortunately not Georgia BBQ) but Katz's (I ll have what she is having) or Sweet chicks (if you can wait for a couple of hours)

Rooftop

By leeivy021 |

Great pool and bar which locate in this roof...having a few of varities of cocktails and food which are not really $$$. Good server and atmosphere..

One and Done

By Chris W |

The bar inside Mr. Purple is basic. The outside is where you want to be. Drinks are pricey, which I figured, but when the bartender could care less that you're there, and was even on the floor texting, I'd rather go elsewhere.

Go for the view

By Una W |

The rooftop pool was heated, the view is amazing, The staff were very good. Only problem is you have to book a table in this bar. I guess it is very popular. Security is high, for some reason. They make great drinks. Highly recommended if staying in the hotel. We didn't eat here, so can't comment on the food.

Best Views in Town

By taurenlegend |

How this place can have less than 5 Stars is remarkable. With some pre-planning, arriving at Mr. Purple before sunset is one of the best "NY-Experiences" one can have - hands down. 15 Floors up with commanding views of downtown, Hotel Indigo has found an ideal spot to meet up with friends for a drink and enjoy the city. I will absolutely return.

Great views.

By Mayor P |

Nice place for a good time, will get packed easily but its clear as to why, nice spot to hang out and brunch. Make sure your pockets are deep, it’s Manhattan.

Great for sunset- if you get in

By DP710 |

Prepare to wait in line no matter what time you arrive. We got there just before 5pm on a Friday and were luckily let in to the really beautiful space. It's good for yuppies and people who like to spend $15 on a cocktail. It's crowded and has waitresses that look like models- it doesn't get more NYC than this.

Awful

By NYCEATS |

Went there with friends and we went in laughing around 12am and security assumed we were drunk and rudely td us we couldn’t go up. Security man with grey hair was not kind and escorted me and 2 friends out of the building. I live three blocks away and am A HUGE FAN! A no no!

Lots of action

By Lisa M |

Mr. Purple was hopping the night we went there. We are in our 50s so we left the 20-30 crowd to the place. Very exciting though. The roof top bar was great. Beautiful views of the city

Great way to start my Trip

By Johnny A |

Came here on my first night in NYC. Great place for a drink, however the terrace jas a great view of the city lights, especially in the evening. Drinks can be a bit overpriced compared to other venues in same area so be prepared. Get in early if your heading there on a Friday or Saturday

Great view

By Kerry M |

Came here for a drink with friends on a Saturday early evening. The line to get in wasnt too bad... we probably waited 10 minutes. The views at the top were great. The place was absolutely packed and many people had reserved tables so there wasnt a ton of standing room outside. The inside area looked nice too, but the weather was so great we wanted to be outside. Would come back for a drink if the line wasn't too long.

Popular LES Rooftop spot

By Shanelle |

Apparently this is the bar that you take your out of town friends to, and so that’s exactly why my friend took me. We went in without cover, but when we were leaving, we heard the bouncers quoting $75. There’s an indoor and an outdoor area. There was a birthday party happening so a lot of the spaces were reserved, but there were outdoor benches to sit at (no heat lamps). The igloo required advanced reservations. The views were really nice and there’s a pool that open during the daytime in the summer (it was closed for the winter).

Great views and drinks

By Sophie M |

It was difficult to find at first as we were recommended to go by a server at Campbell Apartments and we didn't know it was connected to the hotel. It was great when we found it! It was a lovely clear day so we could see for miles. Great choice of cocktails and drinks too.

Fun! Great Views

By Richard B |

We stayed at the hotel and really enjoyed the roof top bar too! I can not ay enough good things about the hotel experience. Bar is a bar, but the location and views make it a great bar. Wish I lived closer.

Rude, stuck up, 0 customer service!!!

By Ashley-Faye H |

I’m really sorry to the one of two of the staff who were nice to us and really friendly and helpful on the few times we’ve been here!! But, the last straw was tonight!! Moved off a table with no reserve sign on it!! The host came over to my table when my partner was paying for our drinks, she put the reserve sign on the table and said sorry this table is now reserved!! Couldn’t have been ruder! We’re hotel guests! We’ve spent 1000’s here and yet get treated like dirt!! I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!!! The views are great but the views aren’t worth being treated like you do by the hosts!!!! Serving staff weren’t much better. Being told we could sit in one place and moved to another! Waiting for 10-15 minutes to be served! Then when we didn’t want to wait anymore we actually got told...”you shouldn’t have gone to the bar to get those drinks it’s a table service only if you’re eating”!!! 😂😂 I’m not even joking! Visit at your own risk!!!

Rooftop bar

By Julia I |

Good place for drinks. As for me a good view of the city, but not the best. Good for one time visit.

Racist hotel staff

By LizG |

Racist hotel staff said they pre authorized a charge for $75 for a Diet Coke my husband ordered because they needed to “make sure he could afford it” when brought to management’s attention we were blown off and got nothing that even remotely resembled an apology. They tried to kick us out from the pool at 2pm even though the website says guests can stay until 5:30 pm. I guess you can only stay if you’re white. NYC is a beautiful and diverse city. Stay somewhere else!

Rooftop trendy and good food and drinks

Fabulous Pool and Rooftop funky Bar and food ,typical New new York ,just grreat bit exspensive and noisy but hey that's the trend.Decor unreal at this new venue Hotel Indigo

They change you a 75 bucks deposit, don’t go

By PeetC |

Great rooftop bar, terrible service! They ask if it’s ok to hold your ID and you’re credit card. It felt a little overkill, but we did. When we got to the bar to check out, they used 10 min to fin our card in a small box, cards connected by rubber bands… a really bad system, as tha bar filled up. When I checked out, my bank notified me that they already charged me $75. And I should only pay the $25 over the already charged. Their machine also said so. SoI did. Then the manager told me I had to pay it once more… they never informed me that it was 75 bucks in deposits to be at their bar. And still haven’t gotten the money back….. so payment is still double….. Terrible customer service! A lot of more friendly rooftops in nyc! Love❤️

the view alone is not enough...

By Betty B |

Yes, great view - not enough to entice me into another visit... Exceptionally aloof service, no one pays attention, it´s up to you as the customer to get their attention. Drinks are ok, as is the food - however, it may be cool and very now to serve finger food as just that, i.e. sans knive/fork/spoon, but a napkin at least might be handy, considering the price range for the nibbles. won´t try it again, thanks.

Good drinks and skyline views

By Ben T |

When looking for a rooftop bar, you want a great view and of course drinks to enjoy while there. Mr Purple delivers both, good drinks and a great view to Empire State Building.

WHAT ABOUT NO ?! In 10 lessons

By Eliottc |

Just for the context, we already came here 3 times, we are French living in New York, and we like good spots. Here is why this one is one of our worst experience in New York : 1. Tacky clients and no selection at the entrance resulting in a (see 2) 2. Over crowded and noisy place 3. Walks in for the sitting but no space for people who want to order a bottle and have a good time 4. Refused to serve a bottle with a proper seat owing to a (permanent) disorganisation 5. Careless and sufficient hostess, in case you forgot client pay to be here and deserve to be respected (unless you don't want no respect from your customers ?...) 6. No communication between the bar tender and the hostess 7. Inefficient bar tender (you want fast results for your customers' pleasure: have someone giving menu before they arrive to the bar and you'll see a triple efficiency as a result as people would know what they want and will order faster) 8. Huge problem in wine stock (2 kind of rose wine, no stocks in one of them, no apologies from the bar tender) 9. No solution neither from the hostess nor the bar tender to be served properly 10. The overall atmosphere wastes the only asset of the spot, namely the view. You don't want quality customers nor money, understood, news go fast, so does reputation (fashion industry loves this kind of story).

AWESOME roof top bar ...

By Gargantua |

We stayed at the hotel indigo so we had full access at this great modern roof top bar with VIP access . The view for sunset is fantastic and the cocktail are very good but ... very expensive . The staff ( waitresses and barmaid ) are rude and impolite ...

Decent drinks and breakfast is good with the bagels. The Co workers are very helpful and polite. A bit pricey than other places, but it's new York.

By WiggyManhattan |

Two friends and I went on a Saturday afternoon for drinks and late lunch. Firstly, the views of downtown Manhattan are awesome! Hostess asked where I preferred to sit, which I appreciated greatly. We sat on lounge benches Very comfortable. We ordered rum drinks which came with with umbrellas and animal figurines! Fun Amazing DJ began spinning around 4 pm Menu was great Oysters, sliders, grilled cheese, salads , etc Very attractive younger crowd We had an amazing time Will be back soon!

Who is Mr. Purple?

Ordered bar food for dinner. It was good. Drinks were a bit pricey. Staff was attentive and courteous. Definitely a younger crowd vibe, but worked perfectly for us as we did not have to leave the hotel.

BEST ROOFTOP BAR IN LES

By Diamondz007 |

The hotel itself is absolutely breathtaking with personality and culture. High ceilings and scattered pieces of art and design throughout the entire night. Mr Purple offers a HUGE outdoor patio area, outdoor bar, and great sound system. Ive been there a handful of times and one evening invited my European friends who were visiting. Unfortunately I was stuck in traffic and they beat me to LES. With so much going on downtown, my visitors were a little overwhelmed. They walked into Hotel Indigo seeking help and the hotel manager named Alberto escorted them to Mr. Purple and answered all their questions. By the time I got there, they were dancing with drinks in hand. I was so very grateful that you had bilingual staff who took the time to make this an enjoyable evening. Definitely will go back, Im actually going this evening! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED I love that the space is big enough to hang out indoors as well as outdoors. One night it started misting, and i was happy that the entire party could fit inside comfortably.
