Excellent all around! We had a great time. Food was fantastic especially the truffle fries, crab cake and mushroom flatbread! Miguel was a fantastic bartender/server. We will come again!

Amazing service, fabulous food. The hostess, maitre d, and Miguel our waiter couldn’t do more to make our dinner pleasant. Will definitely come back and ask for Miguel.

My husband and I had an amazing experience at The Consulate on the UWS and can’t stop raving about it! We walked in on a busy Friday night around 7:45 PM without a reservation, hoping to enjoy dinner in the dining room. The general manager, Tonchi, greeted us warmly and explained that while he had a couple of larger parties ahead of us, he would do everything he could to find us a spot in the dining room. What really stood out was how thoughtful and accommodating Tonchi was. Instead of having us awkwardly wait near the entrance, he seated us at an outdoor table so we could relax while he worked to arrange a spot. True to his word, within just five minutes, Tonchi came back and personally escorted us to a cozy two-top table in the dining room. The ambiance in the dining room was fantastic, with an elegant yet inviting vibe. Tonchi also had an amazing playlist that added to the atmosphere and set the perfect tone for the evening. Throughout our meal, he went above and beyond, checking in on us several times to make sure everything was just right and that we were enjoying ourselves. His attention to detail and personable nature truly elevated the experience. As for the food and drinks—wow. We started with two rounds of perfectly made dirty martinis, which were chilled to perfection and exactly what we needed after a long week. For appetizers, we ordered the tuna tartare and the corn burrata with shaved truffles—both were fresh and had a lot of flavor. For our main, we shared the ribeye with truffle fries, which was cooked to perfection! The entire evening felt seamless, thanks to Tonchi and the wonderful staff. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

This place was amazing, the service was excellent and the hospitality was amazing. The manager Ivan was very attentive and personable. The food was immaculate, I had the lamb chops and the steak was chefs kiss 🤌🏼😘. I recommend the Oui Mademoiselle if you are going to get a cocktail. You will not be disappointed!!!

My friend and I dined at the consulate and were impressed by the fantastic atmosphere. The cozy setting and excellent service made our evening special, especially thanks to Bibi's attentive care. The food was outstanding - we started with delicious octopus, onion soup, and exquisite tuna tartare. For our main courses, I savored the short ribs cavatelli while my friend enjoyed the filet mignon and branzino fillet, both of which were delicious. The cocktails were also superb.

We were seated outside on a nice May day for brunch with our toddler and we had to change seats to a bigger table because we ordered so much food and our waiter Peter was very accommodating and understanding of our needs with baby. The food was delicious especially the side of bacon! A great neighborhood spot, we will be back :)

Bibi was AMAZING! Loved the food and the atmosphere! Service was great and prompt, my water glasses was always full, would definitely recommend!

I’ve come here a few times always hoping for a different experience. The staff is very nice although the service at lunch time is typically slow. The food is unfortunately very mediocre. On this visit I had the Caesar salad which came with boxed croutons and not hand-torn as described on the menu. My husband had the chicken sandwich which looked and tasted like it was previously frozen and reheated. My friend had the steak frites which was not bad but the meat was too rare although she ordered it medium rare. I debated writing a negative review but when I saw that it had a 5 star rating, I just had to weigh in. I rely on TripAdvisor and this is definitely not a five star restaurant on any level.

Constantine is an amazing waiter! We come here Sundays and have him every time. Very attentive, knowledgeable about food and wines and also remembers our favorite wines - absolutely love this restaurant and staff

The Consulate is a local hang that welcomes all. The food is DELICIOUS!! The cocktails are superb. And the staff is amazing. We were treated to the kind welcome of Bibi and Mickey who truly made our dining experience a memorable adventure. Their attention to detail and knowledge of the menu really ensured that our dining choices were top notch. If you’re considering The Consulate, DO NOT HESITATE coming here. You won’t be disappointed. My compliments to the Chef and the staff. All are welcome and appreciated. ❤️

We came for brunch on our wedding anniversary and we’re very happy we did. Food and drinks were definitely a cut above in quality and the prices are typical for this caliber restaurant in NYC - not cheap but worth it. Our server Dragana was lovely, knowledgeable and accommodating. Very happy we’ve discover this excellent spot!

Amazing food, great atmosphere, unbelievable staff-perfect for a family celebration or even a regular day in New York City. Tonight we were celebrating our daughter’s engagement and everything was perfect from the moment we waked in until we said goodbye. We always try to visit the Consulate at least once on trips to New York and it never disappoints!!! Hoghly recommend!

Went here for brunch. The bacon was the high point, incredibly thick and delightfully smokey! My wife had a Caesar salad, which she didn't like, as the anchovies were pickled (or tasted that way to her), and the added chicken was dry and flavorless. Oh, that bacon, though! Unfortunately, I saw a roach in the bathroom... I'm sure every restaurant in NYC has roaches, but you never want to see them, particularly when brunch, without any beverages, costs $75. Our waitress was absolutely delightful. Overall, I'd give my meal five stars, and my wife said she'd give hers three.

I would not come here to celebrate a special occasion as no one seemed to care that it was our anniversary. I made it abundantly clear when I made the reservation and when we arrived that we were celebrating our anniversary. Nothing about this dinner felt special, except the expensive check. The food was okay, but not good enough to make up for poor service, we won't be returning here again.

The restaurant was delicious, we shared muscles and had fabulous dirty martinis. Bibi was so kind and we felt very taken care of. Will definitely be back!

I came here with a girlfriend for drinks on a random Thursday afternoon. We got the happy hour. Ordered some food. The cocktails were amazing. Really nice vibe. Bartenders friendly, attentive and not overwhelming. Love it.

My niece was in town and I was going to take her out on the upper west side to visit a friend. I asked him to make a reservation somewhere close to where he lives. This is where we ended up. To say, I was happily shocked at the end of the meal is an understatement. I am not sure what to talk about. The amazing, tuna that they served? the fantastic tasting hot lava cake? The absolutely delicious drink or wine that was brought to the table? The impeccable service? The atmosphere? I now understand its rating. Now I know about this gem on the upper west side, I will return.

Me and my father came to this restaurant and had an amazing time! The food was great, customer service was amazing, we connected with one of the staff and they had given us a tiramisu on the house! Great place.

We booked the restaurant as we were going to be near here at lunch time ... we arrived a little late but no issues and our table awaited us ... very friendly and attentive staff ... we opted for salads and burgers and everything was excellent ... and we had desserts and lattes after lunch. Would love to go back for dinner sometime as we so enjoyed our lunch experience!

The only good thing about our evening was meeting the lovely people at the table next to ours. I ordered a $25 glass of red wine and it was served at room temperature. Unfortunately the temperature that evening was in the high 70's. The waitress said the red wine is always stored at room temperature. I asked for an ice cube and then the waitress offered to put the opened bottle of wine in the refrigerator for a while. When it was served it did not taste very good so I asked for a glass of chablis. The endive salad was composed of a variety of veggies and some old looking walnuts and was tasteless. Multiple times waiters brought our food first to our neighbor's table and likewise their food to ours. My husband's fish dinner smelled a bit "fishy" and my pasta and beef dish was sticky and not to my taste. The manager visited our table and comp'ed our drinks but it was a terrible meal that was saved by the delightful couple at the next table who were having a similar experience. We just enjoyed talking and made the best of it.

We had a late brunch with bubbles on a saturday, We had trouble making a reservation as we are from abroad, but fitted in nicely. We sat on the patio and the sun was shining. We had the egg’s benedict with salmon and crocue madame. Both dishes were excellent.

I make my way around Manhattan to a lot of bars but this is where I come to at the end of the day. The drinks are super superior, and my bartender Claudio is not just the guy who makes my drinks but he’s a libation encyclopedia. There’s a lot of bars out there, but I can’t seem to do any better than the one around the corner from me. Top shelf, I like the owners, all the bartenders but Claudio has become a bit of an advisor and friend. A tip of the drum to this bar.

Our server, Bibi, was the best! We had the NYC Restaurant Week menu. Both the melon salad and the Kale salad were great. Our entrees were lamb chop (ok) and salmon (great). The desserts were both good. We had the citrus panna cotta and peanut butter cheesecake for dessert, both very good. The French 85 is an excellent cocktail, and the Mumm Champagne by the glass was nice. Great place; excellent service. We will visit again next time we are in NYC.

The Consulate is a contrapasso to every other place in the city: the overwhelmed come here for an understatement, those tired of waiting in line come to be seated, and those weary of an empty bar stand come to see a place constantly and lively inhabited. In my own turn, I, the weaver of the tavern reviews, the chronicler of watering holes, the bar fly in my own right and of my own flight, come to the Consulate to have a night of contemplation and elation. Learn from me for I tend to be right.

Medina and Laura gave us a great experience. Food was great. Open air with great music. I had the roasted chicken and the group had some mussels. We finished with a nice ice cream dessert.

I had the pleasure of dining at The Consulate recently with a friend, and it was an absolutely flawless experience. The elegant ambiance, combined with exceptional service, set the stage for a perfect meal. Each dish—from the Grilled Artichoke and Mushroom Gnocchi to the Heirloom Greek Salad—was beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. Don’t miss the Chocolate Lava Cake for Two to end on a sweet note. A must-visit for anyone who loves fine dining. I’ll definitely be returning!

A delight for the eyes inside, so charming. We had the octopus, side of brussel sprouts, tuna tartare & filet mignon. All very good. The wines by the glass were nice (Sancerre & Chianti) & noticed a lot of people were getting cocktails which were done beautifully. We also had the pineapple upside down cake which was delicious. Lovely place & service was incredible. Would definitely go back & if I lived closer, I’d be there often.

The menu is a clever tribute to both cultures. You’ll find elevated American classics reimagined with French techniques—like a perfectly seared steak frites or a burger topped with decadent brie and caramelized onions. Every dish feels intentional, balanced, and deeply flavorful. What truly elevated our evening, however, was the service. Our waiter Constantine was exceptional, attentive without being intrusive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the wine pairings. It’s rare to find service that feels both professional and genuinely warm, but they nailed it.

On my last day visiting NYC I decided to go with a friend to this restaurant. From the first moment we loved it. The exquisite attention of the waiters and their professionalism, the quality of the food and the sophisticated, elegant, cosmopolitan and at the same time lighthearted atmosphere made this sight an unforgettable memory. The restaurant we picked was full and saw this place and they had openings. Wished we had waited. The menu for Brunch was not great and I wound up getting a burger which came with an egg. Only mine didn't. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he said he would get one and 10 minutes later it came when the burger was cold.

Bibi was amazing - and took SUCH great care of our family!! The happy hour is our favorite and when we come in the spring we love to sit outside - Bibi is so sweet to our dog too!

The service was exemplary! Food and drinks were so good. Had the burrata and eggs Benedict. My daughters had the salmon platter. Place is super cute too. Weather was nice when we were there and they opened the windows. Felt great!

The Consulate is one of our favorite go-to restaurants on the UWS. Terrific food in a great atmosphere. We love it. Always ask for Bibi to take care of your table as she knows the menu and the drinks list so well and provides the best and friendliest service. We can’t wait to go back!

We went to The Consulate UWS for brunch recently and had a blast. The place has a nice atmosphere and the [mention a dish you particularly enjoyed, e.g., blueberry waffles] were delicious.

Biljana was AMAZING! We sat down at 3:35 after missing brunch , due to being 5 minutes late we were bummed. The host gave us kind of a lukewarm welcome but Biljana made us feel right at home! Super comfortable and the food was delicious. What more can we ask for?!!

This spot was absolutely amazing Claudio the bartender so accommodating and lovely ! If you are in the neighborhood please stop by not only for the food but for Claudio he makes the best drinks.

Mickey & Miguel were great , they were very attentive and would always check in with us if we needed anything . 10/10 experience definitely will be going back . P.S : Drinks were amazing !!

Our visit to the Consulate was a short and sweet impromptu visit. We were sat at the bar by a friendly hostess but the real gem was Miguel at the bar. Miguel was friendly and helpful as my Mom and I were trying to decide on a warm cocktail to enjoy on a 35 degree day after a walk in Central Park. Miguel suggested a hot toddy and an apple bourbon, both which were one of the best cocktails I’ve had. They were perfectly warm and seasoned with clove. Miguel was warm and kind and made us, two Texans who were visiting NYC for the first time right at home. Thank you so much Miguel for giving us a memorable experience, we’ll definitely be back!

Milan was an amazing server. He was very attentive and made us feel so welcomed for our first visit. The food was so good. I had the steak and eggs. The steak was so tender and perfectly medium rare. Highly recommend this place for brunch.

I Love The Consulate! It’s got that vintage bistro feel. The huge mirror and dim lighting makes it cozy and intimate. The food is terrific… the corn burrata salad is a must. But my favorite thing is how friendly the wait staff is. I love to go in solo and sit at the bar just to chat with Claiborne the bartender. He’s such an interesting sophisticated friendly person. I highly recommend The Consulate!

So enjoyed our good time with friends and the lovely food and excellent service. Even though it was a busy day, we were tended to by Peter. Warm and cozy environment. A delight!!

The restaurant was beautiful and the vibes were immaculate. The food was delicious- seafood generally, muscles specifically, was so fantastic. The ambience and staff were super friendly. In specific- Bibi (our waitress) was so friendly, generous. She recommended the best dishes and ensured that everything we needed was provided. Her bright personality and enthusiasm made her anecdotes and stories so memorable. I would come back again (100%) for the food- but I would come back again (1000%) for Bibi.

Food was delicious and Dragana was wonderful! The ham eggs Benedict was great and I will definitely come back when I’m in NYC again!

I will start with the hall, excellent very friendly care and ready to keep our coats. The unbeatable service to the table, once we chose what we were going to eat, the times to get the food to the table were more than excellent; the flavors, temperatures and assembly/presentation in each spectacular dish. I ordered WINTER AT NY 2026's three-stroke menu and my husband ordered onion soup and a steak and fries. Don’t go without trying the onion soup, better than in France I assure you.

My husband and I came for a late lunch, both ordered the prefixe at 2995 for two courses. Atmosphere is beautiful very Parisian and service is prompt and friendly. Ordered ros’e and vodka promptly served, very nice. My prefixe choice was a short rib cavatappi, we also ordered poached eggs with avocado toast, which were excellent. The cavatappi was very flavorful, it was extremely heavy for a lunch entrée. More in keeping of a winter dinner entree with generous meat and ricotta. The star of the show was the crème brûlée, far from the pedestrian version so readily available. It was really extraordinary and a beautiful presentation. Great value, we would return happily.

The Consulate is the best. My fiance and I live in the area and love this place. Excellent steak frites, mussels, whatever you want. We love to sit at the bar - Joel is fantastic.

Biljana (Bibi) and Ivan were fantastic!!! It felt like we were thoroughly taken care of. Food was great (salmon benedict and hangover burger), and the pineapple upside down cake was the perfect ending to our extended stay (Memorial day downpour). Would 100% come back again!

This European style bistro is perfect for any occasion. The holiday decorations, including twinkling lights and a Christmas tree, added to the festive atmosphere, even though it was December 28th. The staff were exceptional and worked seamlessly together, enhancing the dining experience. I ordered the Steak Frites cooked medium, and the meat was tender with a flavorful peppercorn sauce that complemented the crispy french fries. My dining partner enjoyed the al dente short rib cavatelli, perfectly cooked and not overdone. Amazing dinner experience! C'est delicieux!

Accidentally walked in had a great experience. Stayed a good time, with friends. The drinks were amazing the service was superb. I will come back as soon as I’m back in town.

Martin and Don for life! Favorite bar in the city, whenever we need a nightcap it’s our go to without question. They open the doors when it’s nice out for an unparalleled ambiance

Pleasant ambiance, great service, but food was quite mediocre. Forced to use Resy to reserve, but upon arrival reservation could not be found despite showing e-mail confirmation. No worries - efficient front desk found a nice seat anyway. Ambiance and service were very good, but what’s the point when the food is mediocre? We expected a classic French menu, but the Menu seemed mostly Italian rather than classic French, which we had sought - perhaps our mistake but disappointing nonetheless. Swordfish had been frozen or pre-cooked and was served tepid, not properly seared. Kale salad was plain and ordinary. French onion oil was good, but a bit light on onions. Short Ribs cavatelli pasta was heavy and soggy and more of a goulash than short ribs. Creme caramel for dessert had a nice patina, but was runny. Slightly upset stomach for both of us the following day. Not the anniversary dinner we had hoped to celebrate. We’ve been to many top restaurants - including French and in France. The Consulate did not rate.

I can’t imagine why this place is rated the 17th best restaurant in NYC. The breakfast plus coffee and tip came to $82. Could have had the same anywhere else for 1/2 that. Nice place, but empty at brunch on Dec 30th which speaks to how great it is. 17th best restaurant in NYC? Really? It challenges the credibility of Trip Advisor.

This is an upper west side gem! We have lived in the neighborhood for years but only first came to the Consulate in the past year. Since then we’ve been back countless times. The food is rich and delicious, the wait staff are so friendly and make you feel like family. My 5-year old loves Bebe! She goes out of her way to make him and our family feel so special. Hard to find a place like this. Highly recommend.
