Surprisingly fantastic vegetable sandwich

By Moments4Life |

Guests of the Fitzpatrick- if you choose to eat here, it's my opinion that you won't feel cheated out of a "NYC dining experience". We found fantastic food in a cozy and elegant atmosphere, though honestly, a little pricey (but what NYC meal isn't?) We walked past the restaurant many times during our stay and finally dined here for lunch prior to leaving for the airport, all for the sake of convenience. Ordered the rustic vegetable sandwich and much to my surprise, I'd have to say it's the best sandwich that I've ever had. That's a pretty big compliment! Grilled portobello and eggplant, roasted red bell pepper, goat cheese, hummus and spinach. Pretty standard, but the grilling/roasting/proportions must be just right. My husband loved the Irish Breakfast.

S L O W service

By Evitosha |

Took almost 40 min to bring my yougurt parfait .the place wasn't full but the service is awfully slow.

Good burger

By Lwatson1970 |

Quick burger and beer stop which was very tasty. Excellent service and well cooked food. New York steak sandwich very tasty and kids burgers good too. Not cheap for simple food but tasty. Nice environment so would recommend if staying locally and wanting something without venturing too far.

Good shepherds pie

By Scott A |

I stayed at the Fitzpatrick Manhattan one night and ate my dinner at the Fitz. The service was good, and the shepherds pie was tasty. Later that night, the bar was packed. Good place for drinks and decent food.

Don't leave workout trying their burger, amazing!

By CamiloGaviria182 |

The best burger in the area, I mean it! Great thick meat grilled to your preference with amazing fries Just like British pubs. The bar doesn't have the best decor but man that burger is something else. the bar is alright, nothing to remember but I had a great meal. 4 stars on the place 5 on the food!

Slow Service

By Ruth D |

Terrible service and the chairs are so low and deep I had to use pillows to reach the table. Buger was good at lunch but breakfasts were not so good and expensive even for Manhattan

GUINNESS!

By secsca |

enjoyed our time at the bar- perfectly poured pint and great food

A good place for breakfast

By AnnieLu2 |

We visited this pub and restaurant a number of times during our visit to the Fitzpatrick hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was ok - my Shepard's pie was very nice with lots of potato. It was unfortunately lacking in patrons and atmosphere. The decor is quite old fashioned and with uncomfortable seats at the high tables. We were the only ones there 2 nights running. We had fun with the staff.

Nice cafe

By BarbaraMD |

Had a lovely breakfast and the service was terriric, They also have newspapers from all over thew world.

Breakfast basics

By antiques223 |

I join friends staying at the hotel for breakfast at the Fitz. I am surprised at how consistently slow the service is... breakfast is generally not the meal one wants to linger over. The eggs and toast are adequate but somewhat institutional.

Excellent food

By Christopher J |

As we were a little tired and a bit lazy we ate 3 nights in the hotel restaurant u can go A la Carte or the bar menu , excellent food and plenty of it , try 3 mini burgers and fries from bar menu . Also the French onion soup , fish and chips and Yorkshire shepherds pie all delicious .

quiet, small, good food, reasonable prices

By Mike T |

One of the best Manhattans I've had. Friendly staff, food was good and the prices weren't too crazy (this is Manhattan, though.) about $50 for a steak sandwich and 2 drinks.

Brilliant

By Kilfolwal |

Excellent in every way, food, staff, speed and ambiance. Magnifique!

Great Place to eat

By skull0107 |

Food is excellent, service outstanding and friendly. Well worth a visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Irish Breakfast!

By SFTRVLR |

A very nice hotel restaurant located in an Irish hotel- serves Irish breakfast and overall a very good breakfast

Very Good Breakfasts

By VinMar_10 |

Stayed at the Fitzpatrick Hotel and ate breakfast every morning(4 Days) here. Every morning we had something different and all were very good. as were the prices. Two eggs for only $3.50, toast for only $4.00, and a huge serving of home fries for only $4.00. Ala Carte is cheap. Service is a little slow which actually ws nice in New York. Recommend eating here. Also, not that busy when we went.

Great bar, wonderful staff.

By IrelandVoyager |

We call here every holiday in New York, normally on our first day after a visit to Bloomingdales. A lovely bar to unwind with fun entertaining conversation with Dave who has been there for years. Good martinis at reasonable prices for Lexington Ave make this a pleasant way to spend an early evening before heading off for a bite to eat.

Average Hotel Restaurant

By PlatinumStrider |

I had lunch at the Fitz while waiting for my room to be ready. The menu was nice, and there was a good selection. I ended up having a turkey cranberry club with a salad, which was fine - nothing spectacular, not bad. The reason I'm really giving the restaurant an "Average" score was the service was oddly non-existent. I ate during lunch, and there were only two other tables I was aware of at the time. The server never returned to check on my meal or to refill my drink. At the end, when I was able to check into my room, I had to get up from the table and chase him down to get my check - a little less than ideal.

Great Food

By Kilfolwal |

Excellent food and well priced with Speedy delivery of food and Tremendous staff also.

Have to go for Breakfast!!

By IrishWorldTraveller1 |

Has to be the best breakfast in NYC, Its the real deal. A tradition Full Irish Breakfast with all the trimming including real Irish Butter! Such comfort food when staying in NY for a while.

Good food/Drink

By Gavin |

Nice relaxed atmosphere at the end of a day sightseeing. Bar staff are very friendly and are always at hand.

Overpriced Hotel Bar

By AMBK731 |

A few year ago this place was an authentic Irish bar with reasonable prices and a great crowd. Now it's been turned into a tourist trap. Drink prices are off the chart, as in $10-12 for an ordinary cocktail or glass of wine. The vibe here is fake too. They went and created a faux libraru theme by painting replicas of books on the wall. Skip.

Delivered on its promise

By accident_tourist |

Did both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant (was staying at the hotel). Taste was OK for both, even though the chef could use a little bit less salt. For breakfast even for a business traveler on expense I found that they are kind of stingy of not including one drink in the breakfast for the price charged.

Great Irish Breakfast

By dbartoletti |

I swung in here for breakfast before going to a client's office. I ordered the Irish Breakfast and really enjoyed it. Though the restaurant did not give me what I would consider an ample serving of both the the white and black pudding it was still very good. I have not had good pudding in a while and this was a nice treat. The Irish bacon was different but very good as well. The room was nicely appointed and the service was good. Found a new breakfast place and looking forward to going back again.

Good food but slow service

By LotsaTraveling |

We were staying at the affiliated hotel and decided to grab a quick lunch after checking in. It was about 2 pm so there were plenty of tables free. The staff were polite and took our order promptly. My husband got the soup of the day which he said was quite tasty. We each had a grilled sandwich as well -- chicken with homemade chips for my husband, a burger with steak fries for me. Both were cooked to perfection. However, it took almost 45 minutes to receive them from the time we placed our order. We both ordered a Diet Coke to drink and the fountain mixture was obviously off -- the color was noticeably light and the taste was horrible. (We didn't complain or send it back because that's not something we typically do.). Overall, we didn't have a bad experience but I think we'd try someplace else if we're in the area again.

Lovely..

By misseatdrinktravel |

Great food in this bar. Especially the snack food ie chicken fingers and trio of mini burgers! Also try the traditional Irish breakfast. Lovely environment with comfy seats and atmosphere. You can even watch Gaelic football and Irish rugby on the TV's!!

Expensive

By Laura S |

The Irish brekafast was delicious but the fish and chips was greasy and way to expensive for what it was. The chips were just frozen chips fried and the fish oozed grease.

Quick, Warm and Friendly

By Vacationer2Maine |

We needed a quick place near our hotel to grab dinner before a show. Once we told the waitstaff, they were very attentive and helpful in watching the time. We each had drinks, the soup of the day (vegetable with corn) and sandwich/salad. We were seated by the front window so we enjoyed the people-watching too. All in all, a great choice on a cold night when we didn't have much time. We'll go back when we can stay longer.

All round pleasant experience.

By Sinéad S |

Visited the bar and restaurant a number of times while staying in Fitzpatricks. The menu did not change from day to day but food was consistently good, good value and pleasant helpful staff.

Good food

By Maureen H |

Relaxed restaurant. Staff always friendly and very helpful. Food good though a little pricey. Menu good if a little limited.

Great food and cozy atmosphere

By lys1234 |

The Fitz bar and lounge is a cozy and relaxing spot for dinner. My friends and I go to the Fitz for dinner on a regular basis. Everything meal has been excellent.

Great breakfast. Fabulous veggies

By Allan S |

The food here is the reason to come. Breakfast Is a good bet. But service prevents a higher score. Have not been here at other times but this is a good alternative to the usual. For those who like a change try it.

Irish bacon and Sheppards Pie were great!

By esumsea |

This place has a really good shepherds pie and the Irish bacon is absolutely amazing for breakfast. The service can be slow and understaffed and the restaurant is a bit expensive, but when you do get service , it is very friendly.

Surprisingly good food for a small bar

By Duncan0949 |

We stayed at the Fitzgerald Hotel and decided that we'd eat out most days. The reality was that we ate in most days. The staff are fun and funky and the food is a good standard and a reasonable price too. Worth it all for the crazy Irish accents and their impish sense of fun

Breakfast - not typically complimentary...

By Reba P |

The hotel offered the Irish/Continental breakfast as they had not met our service expectations. Breakfast was great - plentiful, warm, tasty, good variety of options. Tables were nicely appointed, not too close to others, and the staff was attentive to bring the little things that make a difference (more jam). Worth trying for a special breakfast outing.

Great hotel, average restaurant, stick to the bar

By norwegianblue_1 |

First off, I love staying at the Fitzpatrick on Lexington. My colleagues and I stay there regularly when we visit our office in Midtown. However, while the Fitz has a good bar for a drink after work, the restaurant is average at best. Since many of my colleagues were staying at the Fitzpatrick for a meeting, we decided to keep it simple and just eat at the Fitz. I don't think I'll do it again. The food was just OK. I can't say that anything was bad, or looked unappetizing, but with all the great restaurants within a few blocks, I found nothing worth bringing me back. Service was relatively slow and the menu was limited. I'll be back at the Fitzpatrick but will probably limit myself to the Fitz bar.

It´s just OK

By Leilaroldan |

The food was ok, the waiter was attentive, the place looked old and in need of renovation. The prices were normal for New York City.

A ;lovely venue for lunch as well as a recent brunch for 36 folks.

By musicandart2016 |

The Fitz at the Fitzpatrick Hotel provided a lovely background for a baby shower recently. We were about 36 folks. The food was excellent. There were baskets of scones, muffins and croissants along with assorted jams and butter waiting at each table. We were warmly welcomed by Sharon and her efficient staff. Everyone ordered from the delicious menu. We all felt relaxed and looked after by everyone at the hotel as well. We ;look forward to our next event.

Surprisingly good

By hgoldman77 |

Great menu with lots of Irish and American choices, and the food is uniformly good, whether you order a burger, a steak, or a shepherds pie. Drinks are generous and Stout is on tap.

NY stay

By Harry0207 |

Stayed here for 3 nights, very comfortable hotel with friendly staff, food was second to none here, would definately come back

Used to be my favorite breakfast spot

By Mipsy11 |

I've been to this place so many times for breakfast for the past 10 years or more. It used to be a great BF spot with nice ambience and choice of dishes as well as friendly staff but It's getting too busy even though the service and menu are less and price is more... I knew I shouldn't go there but kept going because it's my routine in NY. The fact is there are so many good BF places in NYC. Why would you bother to go this over priced slow service place?

A Breakfast Fit for a Lad

By dlcdylan |

Hotel Restaurants can be iffy, but not The Fitz. We've stayed at the hotel every year when in NYC for the St. Paddy's Day Parade and The Fitz does an excellent job when it comes to Irish food. Served all year round with St. Patricks Day specials. This place is a go-to when in New York. The wait staff is excellent and wait time is non-existent. The selection of tea is plentiful and prices are moderate. Nothing but good to say about The Fitz.

Oatmeal Place

By Globaljoan |

If you like real oatmeal, then go here. They make it with cream and it is just right. Slow cooked and it comes with your choice of topping.

Great food and service.

By Sarto1 |

Swift service and lots of great tea and Irish breakfast to set you up for the day

Very good burger, slow service though

By Andres W |

The Fitz is the restaurant / bar of the Fitzpatrick Hotel in Manhattan , 687 Lexington Ave. it has enough tables, a nice atmosphere and it gets from time to time relatively busy, which is good. The burger I had there was delicious - also the draft beer really good. I rate with 4 stars only due to the speed of the service - it is really slow, so be patient. The burger is worth waiting ! (See photo)

Convenient for hotel guests, our meal was meh.

By janiegirl12 |

We ate here after seeing the Symphony and our first choice restaurant was closed due to repairs. The hotel told us at check in that the restaurant served food until 11pm, we arrived at 10:30. I originally ordered the French cut chicken, but since we arrived too late and it takes 25 minutes to cook, I couldn't get it. I had the vegetable quiche appetizer which was perfect for me, but others may find its portions to be too small. My partner had the French onion soup, ok, but over salted. And the bread...store bought and warm but as stale as you can get, rock hard, I am surprised it was even served to us. My pear salad was fine, my partner's shepherds pie was good, bread was lightly better (not stale at least). Based on other reviews, we may have hit them on an off night, arriving late, etc. I'm not sure I would go out of my way to go here again though.

Good food nice atmosphere

By Potzerelli |

lovely food, excellent service. Friendly staff and excellent value.

Nice small Irish bar

By Mary S |

Fun crafted cocktails. Great pretzel bites. Quiet out of the way place for an afternoon that you feel like you should know someone there.

Good times

By Scott C |

we had a blast at the fits. Had the best beer I have ever had a kentucky bourbon ale. Food was prepared well and just as we asked, and delicious too.

Really Nice

By NewYorkCityFoodee |

I'm always shocked that the Fitz doesn't attract more of a crowd. Its a pretty elegant dining area, the quality of the food is good, the portions are right sized and its not too expensive. Also, it is perfectly located on 57th and Lex. I honestly don't understand why its not packed at lunchtime given all it has going for it. Nevertheless, it remains one of my secret under rated lunchtime dining spots. The rest of you are missing out.

Not Irish Anymore

By Rod M |

One of our favorite Irish pubs and restaurants has been renovated into the 21st century and has lost all its charm. Drink and food prices have gone through the roof and most beer selections are not even irish anymore. This is not a pub anymore and has kept only the name with a modern feel of a New York bar.

Excellent food and service!

By Louise H |

An Irish family run business - what more can you ask for? The menu is vast and caters for all tastes. All reasonable in price as well - chef did a Mac and Cheese for me one night - wasn't on the menu - this is what i mean - nothing too much trouble. They have a bar menu available from 4-7pm - Monday to Friday - all reasonable portion sizes - you won't be disappointed!

Traditional Irish with American twist

By Colin P |

Good hotel restaurant. Excellent breakfast and a good dinner menu with traditional Irish dishes as well as more New York style food. Fair value for this part of town. Also good bar foods with a well thought out wine list by the glass.

Shrieking New Yorker person

By Lucy C |

I have had a really unpleasant experience here. I tried to make a business call in the communal area of the restaurant. An individual with a high and shrieking New York accent was close to where I was sitting. Everyone on my call commented on the volume of the person’s voice and shrieking of this person. Please do better.

Friendly Fitz: Fabulous Food

By Mo S |

We didn't dine at "The Fitz" too many times during our stay - too much to see & do in NYC - but we experienced breakfast, brunch and dinner at least once: all first class. My breakfast Yoghurt Parfait: yoghurt, fruit & granola was sublime. The tri-color nachos for dinner were absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is relaxed and warm. Fitztastic!!!

Good Food lovely Staff

By Rupertsimon |

Ate here on a couple of occasions during our stay at the hotel and the food was always good. Staff really friendly and made you feel welcome

Dinner was delicious with the added convenience of being in our own hotel. Perfect for a first night in the city.

Delicious Irish Breakfast

By TM |

This was a perfect restuarant to have breakfast before our days of sightseeing! It was so delicious that we decided to eat here each day of our stay. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Best Authentic Shepherds Pie In NYC

By Clifford Driggs Mallory |

Best British Style Hotel Restaurant in NYC. Excellent Shepherds pie and Burgers with equally as good service that was budget friendly given location. Look forward to returning with family and a staycation.

Good Lunch ... Slooooooooow Service

By CW |

If you decide to eat at The Fritz, which I think is part of a hotel, you will find the dining area inviting. But give yourself loads of time! The service is very gracious but the time it takes to get you a bowl of soup and a sandwich can be over 30 minutes. I think it was the pace of the kitchen and not the serving staff. This was my first time eating here and it may have just been the day, but it was noticeably slow. We both had a soup and half sandwich. The soup was a curry chicken which was lovely - nice and tangy very flavorful. I had the mediterranian chicken sandwich which was also very good. It came with some small portion of soggy potato salad which they could ditch in the future.

Serves Irish Bacon if you Choose

By KeystoneDiva |

Breakfast menu offers a choice of American Bacon and Irish Bacon. The bacon is baked in the oven rather than grilled and be aware that sausage is cooked in the fryer.
