Haughty -- and definitely NOT the right place for a power breakfast!

By Stockdoc |

Perhaps it was simply the influx of "foreign" visitors in the early days of summer, or the result of the captain having a really bad morning, or ?? "Attitude", however, was overly abundant on my last visit, service was incredibly slow (with breakfast for 4 coming at 4 separate intervals!), and -- because our reservation was somehow "misfiled" - seating in the lounge was all that was available at the 8:30 am appointed hour. The "lounge" may be more than adequate for a pre-dinner cocktail and peanuts, but the low-flung lounge chairs and tiny cocktail tables - even cloth covered ones - are totally inadequate to handle a proper breakfast for 4. Disappointing in every way. Disappointing, because the Four Seasons Hotel is, otherwise, one of the best hotels in New York City and, generally, one of my favorite "chain" establishments. Stay there, yes, but have your breakfast meetings at one of the other nearby hotel restaurants or, better yet, at one of your club's New York affiliate clubs.

Disappointingly overpriced.

By Pamela S |

Three of us went for Christmas Day lunch and the food was very disappointing, first the rolls they gave us were rock hard we couldn’t eat them, our starters were not too bad but the mains were terrible I had fish which was really dry and overcooked, my husband and son had steak and they said it was so tough it was eating a bit of old donkey. The sweats were nothing to write home about very sickly. We was’nt asked if we wanted coffee the waiter just put the bill in front of us so we never left any tip we just paid and walked out. I complained at the desk but no one really cared they just want your money. The hotel and the restaurant looked lovely just shows looks are not everything and they need to get a qualified chef he should be ashamed sending food out like we received. Wouldn’t recommend or stay there after the experience we had. I only eat some churros that evening and I was so sick the next day and ill for a few days so your quess is as good as mine and couldn’t wait to get home to England but my money is on the fish. Take my advice stay away. Very overpriced for the service and the food.

intimidating, Cold

By MannyG2000 |

Staying at the hotel for a week, I only tried the Garden once. Though it is a very elegant and impressive space, it wasn't really a congenial spot for breakfast. My server assured me that I could get a "flat white, with half the usual amount of milk", but I got a standard cappuccino with lots of foam. Rather than argue, I just accepted it.

Good food but pricey

By Craigf186338 |

Stayed in hotel and had breakfast there one day. There are many places to have breakfast in NYC so it seemed a shame to eat in the hotel each day. Quality of food was very good. However, it is expensive. Also it was the only time in the hotel was the service was a little over the top.

Breakfast Heaven

By peteranthonym |

The service from the moment you arrive here is first class. The menu is excellent and the food is wonderful. The staff were very attentive and exactly what you would expect from a 5 star establishment.

Perfect breakfast

By Scipion Paris |

A great way to start a day with a true power breakfast at Four Seasons - large choice of healthy and less healthy options but smoked salmon bagel was perfect and so was asparagus-feta frittata. A large selection of healthy and original fresh juices provides vitamins boost to start a day and fresh croissants and other danish a perfect balance of carbs.

Tricky Overcharging

By Carol M |

This is a gorgeous restaurant, no doubt about it. The ambiance is spectacular... elegant forest, with nice natural lighting through the windows during breakfast. The menu was superb, and the food was delicious. Avocado toast was perfectly presented, and coffee was very good. The problem was that the server had a sneaky way of upping our tab.He asked my 16 year old daughter whether she wanted "still or sparkling" water. She answered "still." I was unaware of this, only aware that they poured us water. I later discovered that I was charged (I have no idea how much) for two bottles of water. I feel it was inappropriate for the server to have asked the youngest member of our party for permission to serve bottled water in such a sneaky manner. The server also posed the 16 year old a question regarding her breakfast selection... "Would you like bacon or sausage with that," in a manner that made her think her meal included the option of one or the other. She did not really want either, but ordered bacon, which she did not finish, and which I was charged extra for. The final straw was that the server failed to mention that an automatic gratuity had been added to our check... so we tipped an additional 20% beyond that. I did not want to cause a scene in front of our guest, so I later called the restaurant to inquire as to why the check had been so much higher than I was expecting. The manager agreed to remove the bacon and extra gratuity, which was appreciated. However, I was still charged for the two bottles of water. I have always thought of Four Seasons as being very service forward, so this was a rather surprising experience, and did not leave me with a good feeing. I would not recommend this restaurant, because there are other nice breakfast options in town that do not overcharge in this manner.

Amazing Lunch for Business

By RIP |

We met for a serious business meeting today and the atmosphere was perfect not to mention the food amazing. Had the Lentil Soup special and Scallops lunch was to die for . What a great dish. Be prepared to spend but it is the Four Season and very worth it.

The trees are a pleasant surprise!

By carolina915 |

What I liked most about the Garden was its ambience and the intelligence and understated but excellent service of the wait staff. You could order off the menu or, if you felt creative, they would concoct any omelet or other breakfast meal you might like which was not found on the menu. The Acacia trees were nice, as was the free Sunday News York Times. It’s pricy, but if you don’t mind the fare, say $125-150 for two for breakfast, tip included, you won’t be disappointed.

Best breakfast in town

By Renatad4 |

The food is great and they have fresh pressed juice. The best part is the fabulous staff. We felt so welcome and were well tended.

Very diappointing

By ArmyNurseElPaso_TX |

Did not like the menu. The service was mediocre. For those prices and in a Four Seasons Hotel, I expected much better service and food, even though it was New Year's Day.

Great Breakfast

By tdmeyer |

a must in the hotel. if Garden restaurant is full (and this will be the case often during the week), go the restaurant / bar opposite the hall, same food, same service more comfortable chairs.

Expensive lovely lunch

By FantescaGirl |

We walked here hoping to enjoy a late breakfast but unfortunately missed the deadline by 1/2 hour. They handed me a breakfast menu so we thought we were still in- the server promptly changed out our menus so we could recalibrate... with our coffees. The lunch was delicious, raw tuna ribbons topped with a salad of baby greens in a light peanut vinaigrette with a coffee and almond milk. I even ordered the delicate tomato soup - no dairy added. My husband enjoyed a similar light meal only with a sautéed fish. My entree was over $50, (avg price on the menu) so lunch including coffee & sparkling water with a proper tip, our lunch - that was supposed to be brunch - was over $150. A bit much for a lunch in the "hotel lobby". Kind of a disappointment... I was looking forward to the pancakes.

Excellent spot...breakfast and on.

This is a top breakfast spot for power brokers in Manhttan and you pay for that privilege. If you are on an expense account you might do it but it's not for just you.

Excellent Food, Average Accommodation and Service

By beentheredonethat97 |

Recommended attire was elegant casual and we were in dresses, suits and ties. People dining around us were in sweat suits, sweat shirts, t-shirts and shredded jeans. 7 of us were crowded at a table that could comfortably accommodate 6. Ambiance was pleasant and the food was very good. Service was slow. Food was excellent.

Thank you Milton!!!!

By TDG |

Today I had lunch at the Garden Restaurant, it was just perfect! Service is outstanding, everybody is so nice and professional. The waiter was always nice and checking that everything was ok and made great recommendations on the menu and the wine. I will definitely come back and recommend it to my friends and family.

Delicious breakfast

By Gloria L |

Although a bit pricey, everything was delicious with great ambiance. Fresh squeezed orange juice, great hot latte, and the lemon ricotta pancakes and avocado toast with eggs were perfection! The only disconcerting thing was the waiter checking on our table asking my husband if everything was ok and upon leaving, maitre D wished him a good day. Was I invisible? Perhaps just an oversight.

Loved the breakfast here...i had a lovelt scrambled egg dish with cheddar cheese

GREAT INDOOR ARCHITECTURE

By doug100worth |

The hotel's lobby is one of the great pieces of interior architecture in New York City. Sitting in the Garden Restaurant is a delight. Service is terrific. Food excellent. Tables are generously spaced so private conversation is easy. I always have the same thing for lunch.......cobb salad (chopped and tossed)........my favorite breakfast and lunch place in NYC

Good business lunch ... but don’t be 5 min late

By RB242 |

We had a quick and nice lunch here with good salads and different fish dishes. Good selection, fast and good service in a very nice setting. Certainly a good place to go ... but don’t be late for your reservation as the hostel might give the table away after 10 min.

Midtown Favorite

By MichaelReiff |

We had lunch with a friend. The Salmon Flakes with Kale Salad was excellent, as was the Duck. Our friend enjoyed the Chicken Cobb salad, which was so large that he took more than half he for dinner. The wine-by-the-glass selection was excellent, though pricey. Service is always excellent at the Four Seasons.

Absolutely perfect

By wspears |

I treated myself to breakfast here while on a recent trip to NYC. From the moment you enter the hotel you feel calm and relaxed. The staff were friendly and attentive and made me feel quite welcome even though I was dining solo. I was seated at a lovely table and offered a daily paper. The lady who took care of me was engaging and offered great advice on the menu. I enjoyed the lemon ricotta pancakes with perfectly crispy bacon, orange juice and a whole carafe of hot coffee. The food, the location, the ambiance and the staff were exquisite. A lovely, relaxing respite from the heat, noise and bustle of the city. I highly recommend and will return when next in NYC. Thank you for making me feel at home!

Fantastic brunch

By Angry_food |

We stayed there on Sunday and we enjoyed a fantastic meal. It is not a cheap place but is beautiful, quiet, charming and the food is very good ..and of course you must have a bloody mary!

Power lunching (or coffee) is back in style!

By KeoPAloha |

I had lunch w/ a client in the Four Seasons before heading to JFK. I would have liked to have gone elsewhere, but we wrapped up a larger group mtg, and I didn't want to bring my luggage w/ me. The Garden offers all day dining as well as tea & coffee between meals. I ordered the octopus ($28), while my client ordered the nicoise salad ($44). He also ordered an iced tea ($12). We both received complimentary, warm onion focaccia bread while we waited. First of all, the bread was excellent. It was warm and contained a lot of onions. I would have had more, but I didn't want to be a pig in front of my client: 5 Stars. Secondarily, my octopus was very good. It was tender and not overcooked like Water Grill in SC Plaza. The only downside was the price: 4 Stars. Likewise, my client enjoyed his salad. Although the portion looks small, there was a lot of high-end cannned tuna in the salad. The waiter informed us that an original nicoise uses high-end canned tuna, that in this case costs $52/can. American recipes call for grilled ahi, thus giving most of us an Americanized version. My client actually became full on the salad. Again the only downside was the really high price: 4 Stars. Regarding the ambiance, its your basic casual dining restaurant in a hotel: 3 Stars. However, what sets the Garden apart is the overall "Four Seasons" excellent service. For example, the hostess checked my luggage so we could have more room. In addition, Milton our waiter was super nice & attentive. We struck up a convo about Hawai'i, and how much he enjoys Maui. Lastly, the Mgr was very polite, and allowed me to pass as we met in an aisle: Imagine that, giving a client the right of way!: 5 Stars. Yes, the Garden is pricey. Nonetheless, I would have no qualms about having a power coffee mtg as others were, or having a power lunch if I didn't want to cart my luggage around Manhattan. The excellent service more than makes up for the high prices.

Bagels with Lox, Fluffy Pancakes, the freshest OJ. Great Service. We had breakfast at the restaurant as well as via room service. Wonderful

Great for people watching

By BFLOMAN |

Feel like the in crowd, people watch, and enjoy a decent bite to eat. This is a power lunch location and the rich and famous can be found dining with you. Bring your check book this will cost you!

Nice Breakfast if Money is not an Issue

By odetojoy |

Great service and ambienc, but , very very expensive. Breakfast for 4 was 200.00 for eggs and coffee.

Great ambience, service, and a perfect lunch spot...

By Michael S |

Stopped in for a relaxing brunch with my son this past weekend, just to spend some quality time and chat. This was the perfect spot. Superior service, varied menu including salads, breakfast and brunch items, sandwiches, etc. Really covered the gamut of brunch items. Excellent Bloody Mary which is always a plus. At the end, we remembered to pick up something for our ladies, and literally within minutes the very attentive maitre d' had us wrapped up and ready to go. Not for those on a budget, but definitely worth it!

Finally a hotel with no recommendable restaurant...

By BMDNYC |

There have been 2 perfect restaurants, The 57th57th and the Lounge... then it became a famouse one and the Garden... then only the Garden... With every change the food quality declined massively... today even breakfast is not more than mediocre... besides the price...

Perfect Way to Begin the Day!

By suze_shoes |

Have been coming here for many years to enjoy breakfast. Was delighted to return this week and find even healthier options than ever before. It was a bustling location, yet the wait staff never hurries you along. They are attentive and polite. The lemon ricotta pancakes are simply the best, but a super greens egg white frittata is also a winner. If you begin with a fresh veggie juice, you will not be sorry. My companion enjoyed the light and fluffily buttermilk pancakes. The atmosphere is serene. Yes, it is pricey, but so worth it.

Excellent

By Gary W |

Loved having breakfast there, every day a different fresh juice

Must try

By EELSM |

Great place for breakfast but be prepared to pay top $$$. Waffle with fresh berries, salmon with hash were all good choices.

Nice relaxed environment with good service

By Theo V |

We went her since we were going to meet a friend of my new wife after five years and his new wife. For me they both were new. The choice of venue was excellent. Relaxed, comfortable atmosphere in which talking was easy. We had lunch. The menu doesn't give much choice, but it is enough. And, more important, the food is good. The service excellent. We had a great time.

Great food! Amazing Sunday Brunch

By janamlevy |

Excellent food and excellent service. Fun people watching and a nice and cozy place to eat and relax.

Lovely, quiet atmosphere for an indulgent breakfast

By Glee47 |

I had wanted to go the Four Seasons restaurant, but somehow got confused and ended up with reservations at 10:30 am to The Garden, in the Four Seasons hotel. It is located in the lobby of the hotel and is a light filled room, with trees and Asian decor. Unlike most lobby restaurants, most of the patrons were dressed up for dining. It was a quiet spot to eat, with berber carpet and soft music- very civilized. Brunch starts at 12:30 so we had breakfast. I had heard the lemon ricotta pancakes were good and the panetone french toast sounded yummy, but I was in the mood for savory so got the smoked salmon plate, with a mimosa. My husband got potato latkes with smoked salmon, poached egg, hollandaise and caviar. Prices were not cheap, but this is a very gentile place. My husband's ice tea was $10, but they brought it in a silver tea server and refilled it regularly. My smoked salmon was $30, my husband's $32. My mimosa was $23, possibly the most I've ever paid for a drink. My platter came with a toasted bagel, cream cheese, half a hard boiled egg, sliced tomato, capers (large and small), chopped onions, lemon wedge (in cheesecloth so you don't get any seeds) and lots of smoked salmon. It was all very good. My husband's latke looked delicious- a flat large potato pancake, brown and crispy, topped with silky smoked salmon, bathed in hollandaise and gilded with a sprinkling of black caviar. Divine- perfect indulgent breakfast, so we skipped lunch that day. This is the place to come if you want to treat yourself to a quiet space, luxurious food and excellent service.

Few choices

By jeff800 |

The menu is limited. The food is of average quality. The bread that was served was ice cold, as if it just came out of a refrigerator. Service was good.

The Lemon Ricotta Pancakes....Heaven on a plate....

By GJW184 |

Yes the place is lovely and the service is as expected as well...BUT the lemon ricotta pancakes are amazing! Light, thin, moist , flavorful with great texture and not too filling. My wife had a toasted bagel, but I did share my pancakes! Very enjoyable spot!!

Unique place for lunch!

By tmchoate |

Service was outstanding - prompt, friendly and genuinely kind. Decor is unique with the trees, and foliage it makes the restaurant feel private and relaxed. You would never know that you were a few feet away from the chaos of NYC. Food was very good - broad selection for lunch.

Disappointing

By Dan B |

Much too expensive for the value of this meal. Service was excellent, however. I recommend eating elsewhere.

Great place for breakfast.

This is the place to have breakfast. Great food and impecable service. My favorite place to have breakfast in the city.

Fine Dining Even at Breakfast!

By We'reReady!! |

Admittedly, The Garden is expensive, but our family was able to eat more economically since my daughter was using comp nights as a Four Seasons employee. This was probably the best breakfast experience of the year! Seating is extremely comfortable and the attentive, gracious service is unmatched. I couldn't decide between the buttermilk or signature ricotta lemon pancakes so I had one of each! These were cooked to perfection and adorned with fresh berries and came with a small bottle of maple syrup. One daughter enjoyed eggs benedict with crisp home fries and the other the ramen bowl -- this is truly a must try! It was made up of plentiful noodles in a homemade broth along with pieces of roasted pork belly, fresh greens, and an egg. Really, the meal was more like a brunch and we didn't need to eat again for several hours. Delicious!

Best pancakes and great service

By Globetrotterfrun |

So we googled "Healthy breakfast" and internet directed us to the Four Seasons hotel. We were surprised but hungry and decided to stay. Our waiter was funny, polite and made recommendations. We loved the pancakes! A little bit too expensive for everyday eating, but the atmosphere and the food makes it worth a visit.

Exclusive time..

By Agata2012 |

I love Four Seasons in New York CIty !! Even if in another places in NYC you fell you are not american from the roots , here waiters are for you. I am not talking about great fresh vegetables , silence and relax during your meal. Bon apetite to everyone there !!

Late lunch

By Inkognito |

I had a late lunch here, at 3.30 pm, the staff where kind but not attentive. The food I got was recommended by the waiter. I had to send it out, and waited for new late. That was better, but not anything to remember. I wouldn't recommend it to others.

Like a Club in New York City

By doug100worth |

At the risk of a dreadful simile, the lobby of New York's Four Seasons Hotel could have been designed by Albert Speer and sitting in The Garden Restaurant is a joy. Service is terrific. Food excellent. Tables are generously spaced so private conversation is easy. Perfect for breakfast and lunch meetings.

MY FAVORITE BREAKFAST & LUNCH PLACE IN NEW YORK

By doug100worth |

The hotel's lobby is one of the great pieces of interior architecture in New York City. Sitting in the Garden Restaurant is a delight. Service is terrific. Food excellent. Tables are generously spaced so private conversation is easy. I always have the same thing for lunch.......cobb salad (chopped and tossed with their tarragon dressing)........my favorite breakfast & lunch place in NYC....just there today. Nothing has changed.

A very nice breakfast

By Kameron S |

Breakfast at the garden, which is temporarily at the bar, is a great breakfast. The avocado toast is delicious and their drinks delicious. But it is expensive for a breakfast but it is New York and the four seasons. But it’s the price you pay for a great breakfast.

Heavenly Brunch

By Alex G |

Amazing service!!. I have had the opportunity to visit multiple Four Seasons across the USA and even international. I have never had a service like what Milton delivered at the Fours Seasons Manhattan. Yes, the food was divine and the atmosphere was exactly what I wanted for a lazy late morning brunch. That said, what brought the experience to the highest level was the service. ALL of the staff were great, from the manager accommodating our table request to Milton and others making things happen regardless of menu. Expensive?, of course, but a great experience.

good for breakfast, brunch and dinner

By Raymond Abeltun |

Ate here several times during our stay. Staff was friendly and recognized us on day two, which is allways a nice touch. Quality of food was good aswell.

Breakfasts at the hotel

By Mr.Ché |

Expericence of having breakfasts at the Garden restaurant was one of the worst ones for many years. Apart from skyrocketing prices (approx. 100USD per person without alcohol) for eggs, break, salmon, porridge and juices this is something extraordinatory and above common sense. Service in the restaurant is as bewildering as the prices are. Waiters are arrogant, slow, ineffiecent and lazy. Overall breakfast experience took about 1 hour every time, from which 40 minutes were just waiting and taking order. Food is regular - as in any continental breakfast 5 star hotel restaurant. Our breakfast was included in the room, otherwise I wouldn't recommend to come to this place ever!

Great breakfast at Four Seasons New York and the coffee is to die for!

By Greg D |

Great food, service and the coffee is to die for! It is amazing how quickly the food is brought.

Garden restaurant

By Paul G |

My partner planned our trip to NYC for 6 months, the four seasons was somewhere I wanted to visit, so expectations were high. To be brief the whole venue is exceptional, we visited the garden for brunch , the food was excellent, the mood and decor just right. However what made the difference to the whole experience ( and seperated it from other similar establishments ) was our server " Matthew ". Friendly and courteous, chatty without being intrusive, a credit to the four seasons !

Excellent Breakfast!

By Prescott2007 |

We had breakfast two mornings when we stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel in NYC. We had reservations via Open Table. The restaurant was busy but not crowded so there was space for walk ins. The service was outstanding as the wait staff and servers provide that quick cup of coffee and juice. The menu is both traditional and healthy. We enjoyed our breakfasts and the service from the staff of The Garden at The Four Seasons. Highly recommended!

You won't need lunch!

By Roz1212 |

We had breakfast when we stayed here and found the portions to be very large! The food was excellent but you won't need lunch.

Brunch the way it should be ...

By jenskar |

There's a new brunch menu at the Garden, with Cheddar Eggs and Grits in a cast iron skillet, Blueberry stuffed Frenchbread Toast with Nutella, Lobster Hash, homemade Donuts and ... I feel I should leave something for you to discover on your own. Definitely pricey, but the seamless service, roomy tables and truly tasty food makes it work. After all, you're only a few blocks from Central Park and some of the best shopping this side of the planet.

Very pricey, but good

By AAndTMD |

The garden is a nice setting for a breakfast or lunch. Love the indoor trees. The food is very good; not outstanding however. For a price tag of $50+ per person for breakfast, I think the value lacks a bit. Everything was fresh, and well prepared, and the service was excellent, but for that kind of price you expect a little more creativity!

Outstanding

Wonderful and Elegant

By saint22 |

We had breakfast each morning during our stay at the Four Seasons Hotel and it was fantastic. My eggs benedict was delicious and the service was the finest I have experienced. We loved The Garden. I wish I could have breakfast there every morning.

The best breakfast in New York

The menu selections are outstanding for health nut (me) and others who are not. Their juice selection delicious. And the waiters attentive and extremely helpful!

An Oasis of Dining Tranquility

By Norman S |

I can think of very few hotel restaurants where New Yorkers (like myself) would choose as a place for lunch. They tend to be overpriced and feel like generic hotel eateries. The Garden at the Four Seasons is an exception. That's because it is exceptional. It serves wonderful food and cocktails in a space off of the lobby that has an almost Zen-like feel to it. Light streams through the large south-facing windows and there are full grown trees forming a canopy. The furniture and artwork have an Asian tone. Don't come here for a quick bite. Come here to enjoy the experience and linger over desert or an aperitif. The staff will not rush you. True, it's expensive. But it is a culinary and visual treat. It may be, in my opinion, one of the great spaces in the city.

Priced to keep the riff raff away

By RolloMcFluff |

Once you get over the cost of eating at the Four Seasons, the experience is quite enjoyable. I stayed for a few days, and enjoyed the service and the food. For breakfast I particularly enjoyed the French toast, made with baguette, which gave it more texture than he usual hits bread versions you get normally.

Fantastic service, best of best class service!

By Goodmorning2U_11 |

We enjoyed the fresh "juice of the day", always delicious. The eggs benedicts are perfection, as are the buttermilk pancakes with fresh berries and real maple syrup. The service takes their time to get your order perfect and pays attention to your likes/dislikes and will remember them! Always a joy to eat here in NYC!

Good breakfast

By FrankieToHK |

As I stayed in The Four Seasons, I had breakfast every day in The Garden. They serve good food. It's interesting to have garden (with real trees) inside the restaurant.

Relax and enjoy

By Richard M |

My wife and I had lunch prior to departure to JFK. A nice get away from the bustle on the street. Affable staff. Good menu. Worth a visit.

For the price of the burger, I could feed a small village!

By dpeace1 |

Beautiful indoor garden with large life like trees. Not sure if they are African acacia tree’s as is described on their website, as I have been lucky enough to see acacia trees in Tanzania and they don’t look the same. I digress, service and setting is very good, food is good but extremely expensive. I ordered the burger which was $46, if I were living in another country, I might have been able to purchase half a cow for that price! My daughter ordered the organic chicken for 30 somethings dollars. Again, I could have probably purchased 4 whole organic chickens for the cost of her order and she was only served the breast. I travel all over the world, several Four Seasons hotels, and have never seen such inflated prices. Food was delicious but for the love of food, please adjust your prices!

very good

By Sandra T |

The service is good and you have many healthy food choices. There's no buffet just a la carte menu. It's not very crowded, wich is good as well.

FOOD 10/10 AND GREAT WITH KIDS

By mercedesk |

It's the "restaurant" for business breakfast in town, we were almost the only family in the restaurant during morning. but the staff is very nice and very attentive to the kids, kids menu available. great food, love the salmon benedicite eggs and the pancakes + the green smoothie with spiruline

Special Breakfast, Special Service

By Larry G |

With so many diners in NYC for breakfast offering a good value, nothing offers the experience of dining at the Four Seasons and having breakfast. Waiters have been around forever and make sure your coffee is hot and cup is full. Superb breakfast includes fresh juice, choice of eggs (omelet included), choice of meat (chicken sausage really good), fresh toast, avocado, cherry tomatoes, and hot coffee for $57. Yep very expensive and yep, very special. Certainly a great splurge and a good way to experience the Four Seasons lobby area.

Excellent

By Skip_SS |

Freshest ingredients, expert preparations, and professional service make The Garden at the Four Seasons Hotel on 57th Street an excellent and serene restaurant. Their menu is small but comprehensive and enticing,

Just short of terrible.... perhaps an off day?

By J P |

We had a day in Manhattan and with the Four Seasons as our base, had both breakfast and lunch at The Garden. Breakfast was disappointing, but we were hopeful for lunch, which ended up being outright bad. Breakfast was eggs Benedict with the Belgium waffle. The Benedict was passable, if basic. The waffle was very plain and bland, with poor texture. Lunch we each had the yellowfin tuna tartare. It was a huge portion but almost completely flavorless. Half the size and twice the flavor would have been necessary to save it. For mains we had steak and the gourmet hamburger. The steak was ok (not impressive), but the hamburger was a mess - overcooked with many ingredients that sounded good but didn't work together at all. The onions were hard (not crispy), plus it was covered in pepper jelly which soaked through the bun. When the waiter finally asked what we thought we gave full detail, but they acted surprised. After checking with the kitchen it was said everything was to their standard(!). They encouraged us to stay for dessert, which was the final mistake. I had the Macaroon Glace which was supermarket quality and I left it there with only a bite. I think my spouse had the sorbet, but also didn't finish. They comped a cheesecake slice, which was actually good but still didn't save a disastrous meal of dismal results when we had such high expectations.

Great Brunch

Took my family to brunch late morning one Sunday in November. Atmosphere is truly beautiful. Four Seasons never disappoints. Service was perfect. Exactly what I hoped for. Highly recommended.

SUB PAR

By Ann M |

I'd had decent meals here in the past, but the food has definitely gone downhill. If you are staying at the hotel it is an easy spot to have a meal but the freshness of the food is not all that great. I had fish that I could smell coming. At $50.00 prix fixe, that is a lot to pay for inferior food. My companion's burger was a knife and fork version that was gloppy, but the meat was flavorful. The fake plants in the lobby and restaurant are looking very dusty. I hear the hotel is in the midst of a remodel that will be finished in a year and a half, so hopefully they will update this place as well. Four Seasons, you can do better than this.

What you would expect from the Four Seasons

By Mr_Barrios |

The Gardens is located to the right of the main entrance at the Four Seasons hotel. The decor is filled with trees to give the impression you are outside. I was there for lunch this past week and the staff were very polite and helpful. The menu had an eclectic mix of dishes from Warm Octopus to the Gotham Burger. The food was very good and tasty. My only reservation are the prices which, as expected, are steep. The burger was around $35. But never the less, The Garden is a refined, peaceful setting for a delicious meal.

Pricy but yummy

By happymaryy |

I just happen to looove low fat goat milk yogurt and sometimes well mostly never I find it on a menu so I was super happy they had it. I think the price is way over the top but it is the four seasons and service is excellent¡

I had the pleasure staying few nights in the hotel and visited the Resturant couple of times, one with family for breakfast and another one on my own for coffee, both time waiters got me right from the first interaction and always willing to help, I would certainly recommend it.

Four Seasons for breakfast

The setting in this IM Pei designed hotel was serene and beautiful, the food yummy and very good service with great attention to detail.

Wonderful place for brunch

We were celebrating our 65th anniversary with a children and grandchildren. The atmosphere was beautiful. The service was great. Everyone enjoyed their food.

Good food but prices so jokingly high that you can't enjoy it

By AndyTheGameInventor |

I hate to write a review centered around price rather than quality but this restaurant calls for that. I met a childhood friend, an attorney who lives in the city, at his suggestion for breakfast. The setting and service are very good, and so was the food. However at this one restaurant I simply couldn't order what I wanted after seeing the menu. Orange juice, by the glass, was $10. Coffee was $10. My bagel and cream cheese, served just as such, was $12, ...and so it went. I asked my friend (whose firm did end up paying the bill), how many of the diners he thought were paying their own bills. He quickly replied, "none". In short, if you are paying your own way, this restaurant is simply too pricey to be a serious choice.

One of the best

Wow great to taste the healthy meals there or the oatmeal but the pancakes are the best

The decoration makes you feel cozy, and the Brunch is very good. Its a little pricey but its worth it.

Great Food and Top service

By Vikram K |

I'd definitely go back with family anf friends. I was there with 2 clients for business meeting. We ordered quick lunch items so that we don't waste time on food but discuss business

Superb breakfast

By Kevin M |

We booked here for our daughter’s birthday breakfast and it lived up to the occasion! All our food was superb. Eggs Benedict, Corned Beef Hash and Eggs, Hanger Steak and Eggs and Smoked Salmon and Avocado. Everyone enjoyed all we had. Also had juice, tea and coffee. Atmosphere and service were sublime. No rush and was all about us having a wonderful experience. Our server was attentive, informative and engaging. All in all this was an excellent start to my daughter’s birthday - thank you for your great hospitality.

Best place for a special breakfast in NYC

By lostnyctraveler |

I love it here. You're treated so well, the food is fresh and delicious and the newly redone area with their large trees, makes this place extraordinarily special! Always a treat here :-)

Expensive but good.

By ddaschen |

We went there for breakfast. What I like here is juice. You can ask your favorite 4 fruits or veggies to be mixed. The food is good and the service is so-so (Not Four Seasons Hotel's quality).

Great place for lunch

By Breukelaar |

Had a great lunch here, great tuna burger with side dishes. Location is great and so is the service. Only downside is when the bill arrives ... but that's New York.

Simple, wonderful

By AliR1978 |

Fresh and simple fare. Service was fast and friendly. Sitting among the live trees inside was peaceful.

My favorite place for lunch

By doug100worth |

It's gorgeous and as I go to lunch there all the time, they know me. That's a good start. I always eat the same thing.........cheeseburger and asparagus...........which is terrific. Service is wonderful. Great place to take someone for lunch when you really want to talk.

An expensive but memorable experience

By Nocke |

The Garden is a busy breakfast stop in a trendy setting in The Four Seasons Hotel. The portions are generous and the food is expertly displayed. But be prepared to pay top New York dollars. If you are on an expensive account go for it.

One of the best breakfasts in NY

By Dany032 |

Honey oats, pancakes to die for, eggs any way you like them, my favourite being the salmon eggs benedict, funky fresh juice combos, bread basket of fresh croissants, 7 grains & wholewheats with a selection of jams ......

Power breakfast...

By Bonida |

Delicious breakfast offerings which are beautifully prepared and presented. The Garden is a luxurious experience with a price tag to prove it but worth every moment for those occasions when you want something special. Week day mornings this is a power room filled with political, business and media types, the weekends are family and visitors to Manhattan. The atmosphere is unique and the staff and service impeccable.

Excellent service and food

By Bill H |

My wife and I had breakfast twice and lunch once in the restaurant. We found the food to be very well-prepared and the service to be outstanding. (Thank you Betty and Milton.) The prices for breakfast are eye-poppingly expensive. Thankfully, breakfast was part of our room rate.

Sunday Brunch

By jill p |

The garden is a delightful place to have Sunday brunch but its not cheap as you might expect! The garden is inside the hotel but is full of plants and trees. The food was excellent, service is relaxed and we weren't hurried but there isn't much room so its probably best to book.

High Quality, Excellent Service

By susafoxSeattle |

Service is everything, and these folks scored top marks. The food was what you would expect, high quality, high prices. Lovely atmosphere, friendly, flexible staff who anticipated our every need. I have to search hard for a complaint, but okay, here's the only one I can think of: nothing to put my tea bag on once my tea was properly steeped. Even our adult sons commented that the place was very attractive and did a good job. High praise from them.

Winter Garden in the heart of the city

Lovely restaurant with excellent service and good food. We visited the place on Saturday for brunch. Very nice trendy menu and excellent food. The quinoa risotto was simply delicious.

Good food in a nice atmosphere

By Openstudio |

We've eaten here many times and it's still good. We even had my mother-in-law's 80th birthday party here several years ago. This time we just had lunch. The food was delicious and the service was great. Great value.

Great way to start the day !

By Ladytainsh |

Excellent Brekkie and we were very well looked after by Milton. Thank you. Food was delicious but we were very unusual in comparison to most of our berry eating fellow diners. . We actualised for more butter for our toast !

Nice interior design, food is good too

By Sarinali1977 |

Came here with Gilt brunch deals and the food was delicious - very nice waiter and help us to arrange seat for my 22 months old too.

Good food, but pricey!

By Singerred |

The food was very good. The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere is lovely. It is a nice place to have breakfast. You need to be prepared that breakfast will not come cheap.

Drinks and appetizers

By Martha B |

Wanted a quick light bite before the theatre and the waiter was so helpful. He suggested a wine I really enjoyed ( based on the request I had made for a nice light white wine) and he also recommended some delicious appetizers. When my husband mentioned he did not eat meat, the appetizer was tailored to hi states and was delicous.

Brunch delight

By Chatty_Connie |

The garden at the Four Seasons is small and intimate but a Four Seasons experience nonetheless. I enjoy brunch at any of their properties. We had just attended a ceremony at Columbia University and stopped in. Great service, immediately sat even without reservation. Parking is typical NYC, so valet. The mimosa was great as were the Eggs Benedict.

Milton is AMAZING!

By Staci K |

I couldn't wait to write this review, I was here for brunch this past Saturday. Our table of 5 had the Gotham Burger, Cobb Salad, and, Chicken and Waffles. The food came out within 10 minutes and it was amazing. The burger was cooked to perfection and the fries were to die for. The Cobb salad was excellent with the perfect amount of avocado. The raisins just added the right touch. The chicken and waffles were superb. The chicken was so flavorful you didn't even need to put maple syrup on it. Aside from the food, the service was the most amazing part of our meal. Milton, I can't even begin to explain how phenomenal he is. He sat us with just minutes to spare of the kitchen being open and still gave us time to look through the menu to see what we wanted. He found out we were here in the city for wedding dress shopping and that's when his eyes lit up. He gave the bride to be some excellent advice and told us about his own wedding. He was so friendly, we even invited him to sit down with us as one point! After giving us the really good life advice he left and came back shortly after with a champagne for the table! Told us to toast to all the great things that were happening! It was amazing. I was shocked. This man had been working probably since the restaurant opened at 7am and was still making conversation with us at 3:30, and telling us to take our time, even though everything had closed down and all the other guests had left. His personalized service really made me realize how truly lucky we were to have him as our server. He went above and beyond. I am someone who works in the NYC hotel industry, and I know it is super hard to find great service; although it is expected in a hotel like this. I just never expected in a million years how great Milton is. If you ever have the opportunity to dine at the Garden, please make sure you ask for Milton. He will change your life!!

Easter Sunday Bad Experience--Service Stunk.

By jelemus3 |

My wife and I invited a friend, and we had breakfast here on Easter Sunday that was subpar based on the bill (more than $200 for the three of us--we treated our friend), and the service was poor. We were well received at the check in stand, and that was the only positive thing about our experience. We were seated at a table that was wobbly, but not one of the legs that you can squeeze a napkin under and fix the problem--the table top was wobbly. I can live with this kind of situation; my wife cannot. We requested a table change and were offered a tiny table for the three of us, or a table next to the high trafficked area near the entrance. Other, more desirable tables, were not offered to us (I'm assuming they were reserved for guests staying at The Four Seasons). Needless to say, one of the "reserved" tables remained unused throughout our meal, and our wobbly table wobbled until the end; it I were to give the top of spin it would have been an enjoyable merry-go-round. We were offered the menus and I was quick to get the Park Avenue Breakfast, my wife and friend each got the Salmon/capers meal but their orders were taken about 10 minutes after my (I flagged the waiter down) order was placed, and the venue wasn't full. My wife also got the freshly squeezed orange juice that we had to remind a couple of waiters of before it was brought to the table. In my opinion, this restaurant should only serve "freshly squeezed" any type of juice. We also ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes--delicious--and we were missing one plate and cutlery set, which took a couple of requests and a several minute wait--we had to rush to catch our express train back to DC. The waiters were not apologetic about the delays. Given the experience, I let my wife settle the bill. I tend to be more generous and forgiving than my wife when it comes to tipping, but whenever we're not provided the service we expect, I punt to my wife to determine decide on the tip. Unfortunate, but we don't plan on visiting The Garden any time soon.

Open faced omelette

By Stunning776 |

I absolutely loved the open faced omelette, instead of a roll with very little stuffing this omelette is frittata like with all the chosen ingredients on top. It is fantastic.

Wow I love this place.

The best breakfast in the world. Get your credit card ready though.

Serene off lobby hotel dining

By rnarisetti |

The service is understated and unobtrusive in this rather serene dining space off the main lobby of the Four Seasons hotel, which attracts a mix of serious but casual business folks, hotel guests and lots of regulars who the staff seem to know by sight or name. A good place for a snack or quick lunch without a lot of fuss.

So very nice

By WelcomeBack4 |

Great service and food. GOOD COFFEE! Juice selection changes daily. I could hardly wait to get down there in the morning.

Best Breakfast EVER

By mary151 |

The service is amazing, the room beautiful, the food to die for. I would eat the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes everyday if I could.

Accommodating and Satisfying

By Patstravel |

The food is good! Is it worth the cost? Depends on your budget. We had a lovely breakfast for two with no alcohol - $120.00.

The Only Thing Four About It is the Name

By Holly K |

I had lunch here with a vendor. Just walking into the magnificent, marbled four(?) story lobby, you know you have entered a magical space. The Garden has been temporarily moved to the west side of the lobby, while the former location is renovated. I was early, intentionally to allow time to freshen up and not appear melted from the 90+ degree-beastly-humidity day NYC offered. I found the equally-magnificent ladies room and there encountered a NYC police officer. The hotel allows the NYC beat cops to stop in and use their facilities which I think is so very nice. After restoring myself, I settled into one of the comfortable chairs with table in the quiet, blessedly-cool, and spacious lobby to catch up on email while awaiting my lunch partner. He slipped in ahead of me and I joined him at our spacious and quiet table. Should I be concerned about how much we pay this man when he was greeted by name by every waiter in the restaurant ? The service was exquisite, my Cobb Salad first-rate, the experience a flawless five stars.

Great breakfast, good atmosphere.

Weekdays in the Garden, you can be overwhelmed by businessmen at their power breakfasts. Try TY on weekdays or The Garden at weekends.

Four Seasons, Five Stars

By Mike P |

This was the best breakfast we had in New York during out stay. Reading some of the reviews from other people I was unsure on what to expect, as some reviews varied from an average 3 stars to 5 stars. However The Garden restaurant lived up to great expectations with quality, fast service and exceptional food. The tables were generously spaced out, and the restaurant wasn't overly noisy at all. We went for breakfast and had a reservation for 7:30am. We arrived slightly early at 7:20am, yet this was not a problem, as we were seated immediately. The presentation of the restaurant itself was amazing, it looked exactly as the pictures on the Four Seasons website shows, a classy but comfortable environment. We were offered drinks at the very start which were brought out straight away without any delay. We ordered 2 juices, a latte and a tea. All were of a very good quality, especially the latte. We then moved onto the main breakfast, for which we had the belgian waffle and the park avenue breakfast, again both were of an extremely high quality. The ingredients used were all sourced locally and very good. The cheque arrived when asked for, and we didn't feel pressured to pay and leave as quick as possible. The price of courses and the drinks here reflects the quality, hot drinks and fresh fruit juices are around $10 and the breakfast itself ranged from $26 for the belgian waffle and $43 for the all-frills Park Avenue breakfast.
