We were shown to a table and a waiter brought over the menu and served us water. Great start. 25 minutes later no one had been to the table or noticed us sitting there. There were more customers arriving and being seated who were served almost immediately. One single diner observed us trying to get a waitresses attention and gave us a knowing look. So we decided to leave. No one asked us if we had paid or anything so we passed on our thoughts to a waitress who was serving three customers who had just walked in. I class this as extremely bad management and would suggest that anyone visiting New York steers well away from this particular establishment until the management are given some training on how to manage their bar and Restaurant.

We stopped in for a drink one evening and liked the vibe, so we went back for dinner the following night. The food was lovely, the music was class and the customer service was very good. Shoutout to Joey the manager for being good craic š

We found this lovely Irish pub across from where we were staying. The first night we went for a drink and they welcomed us with open arms. We had our meals there most nights and we were always greated like friends. The food was amazing and all the staff were lovely. If we ever get back to New York City we will be going back there.

This place became our local when visiting New York, food and drinks delicious, but the staff, they are next level amazing, most lovely people we have had the pleasure of meeting whilst visiting NYC! Made our honeymoon extra special!

We were looking for a place to eat near our hotel and found Joyce Public House. Loved the pub atmosphere and our server was friendly and efficient. I had the fish and chips ($22). My plate came with two large pieces of fish that were very tasty. My husband had the shepherdās pie ($22). He said it was delicious and really enjoyed it. We went back the next day for drinks before heading to a show. Prices were reasonable for New York. We would definitely go back here!

Great option for reliable pub grub - happy hour until 7pm mid week. Right across the road from Roomza⦠couldnāt be easier..

We went to this pub twice, which is across the street from the hotel where we stayed. Once for dinner and once for happy hour. We really liked the food and drinks menu too.

We were in town for 5 nights. We ate at this restaurant twice -- and tried to come back a third (our show ran late so we couldn't get there). It was the best food we had in NYC! One night I had the pork chop. I rarely order them out because they're often dried out. This was the best port chop I ever had! It was thick and juicy. The menu stated it had walnuts with it -- I saw just one tiny piece. The other night I had the carbonara -- also very good! I couldn't finish it. We'll be back next time we're in town.

Second time traveling to New York and we just had to pop back in here for their fine selection of drinks and wonderful service. The bar staff are ever so friendly, even accommodating and early kick off for the Hibs match for us. If you are looking for a pub with great food and second to none service, then you have to visit here.

Next door to the Element Times Square West so convenient for hotel guests. Friendly staff, good selection of cold beer and good bar finger food (they also have more extensive menu we only had beer and bar food). Excellent pub!

We had food here, the food was ok, not amazing but the service was very good and the Guinness was the best we had in New York, all Irish lads over for St Patrickās day, used to nice Guinness at home and this was probably the best we had in New York.

Pub a must try, we entered the first night because in front of our hotel, then it became our place. Very kind and very efficient staff, very warm welcoming location, on Saturdays with live music. We eat very well, we tried many things from clam soup to sandwiches, wide choice of beers always served impeccably. What else to say if you do not enter and you will not regret it!!! About the cost in line with the city!!

What a top class place, yesterday 12 hours of music, pints flying all day, at least 300 people on the piss at 3 pm , what a party

Great Irish pub atmosphere, hospitality and service. A great place to relax and unwind after being out and about in the hustle and noise of New York City. Delicious genuine good food.

Our last dinner in NY. Great dinner! Perfect service!! Our greatest thanks to waitress Luiz, who served us with great kindness. Beautiful and welcoming environment. Great for those who came to see the FIFA World Club Cup matches. Note 10 on all questions!

Enjoyed our meal here, I had Shepherds pie and my husband had the chicken breast! Both really tasty and piping hot, can't fault it at all! Slight downside was the waitress seemed a bit uninterested, but another guy waiting tables was lovely and very attentive.

Big 'Irish' bar, but not really like an Irish pub. Staff pleasant and accommodating to me asking to pay when I bought my drinks. Good enough, but not what we expected

Close to the hotel so very convenient. Good burgers, chips, excellent beer. He sent the right one. Very friendly staff, nice place

Good food and Service we were there with 9 people and everyone was satisfied. Thank you again. Starter and main course good.

Great location, friendly staff and great food. We were there for happy hour and these mozzarella sticks were delicious. We'd love to go back!

Stopped in for a couple of cold brews on a hot summers day. Excellent selection of beers on tap. Loved the decor and atmosphere of the place. Bartender was friendly and efficient. Priced normal for midtown. Iād come back. Definitely recommended.

Thereās a lot of great Irish Bars in New York but this is one of the best. As well as having great beer, great food (and non stop sport on TV), the place is spacious, well laid out and the staff are fantastic. We were staying in New York for 4 nights and spent time at The Joyce on quite a few occasions during our visit š We had a brilliant time and would like to say a very special thank you to Rory, Joey and Diana for looking after us so well (Rory - Weāll have a beer for you when weāre in Galway next month āļø)

Went here for a drink ..nice pub , We had been told there would be live music playing but there was not ..instead there was a dj playing extremely loud music .Had two drinks each when it came to pay they had added on a 20 per cent service charge. This is something i disagree with ..The service was poor and did not warrant this .Had I known a compulsory charge would be added I would have stayed away ...We found some lovely dive bars for the rest of our stay which didn't Have ridiculous service charges.

The atmosphere is awesome . The renovated bar looks great! The service was great especially from Dave . The restaurant fell short on food quality. We ordered a Reuben that was terrible. Actually not even a Reuben but a sandwich that would have been fine but the meat looked awful. The Cobb salad was good but not great!! Have had better food at other pubs..

Great service and food! Perfect location just south of Times Square, close to hotels and Penn Station. We were grateful for them being open since there was a snowstorm in NYC and most of the Northeast so we were stuck for another night in the city. Every single thing we had over two nights was great: fish and chips (yummy batter), flatbreads - both margherita and mushroom - were delicious, the beet and arugula salad with fried goat cheese balls was refreshing and tasty, the braised short ribs and potatoes and cheese was so good on a cold and snowy day, and I loved the mushroom fettuccine as well. Our server, Jose, was fantastic. He was the only server on the night of the storm but all the staff made it work. The cocktails were delicious too. Truly everyone was kind and friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. All the food was great. A gem to be found in Manhattan. Anybody who complains about this place is just a poopy-headed tourist who hates NY.

The bar looks incredible inside - and I was looking forward to it. Four of us. But the food wasnāt great - for me personally - burger bun cold - and didnāt come as described on the menu either. Asked for sweet potato chips as a side which came as ordinary fries. Asked for a cider - got an alcoholic water same as brother was having. Had a glass of wine with meal - it was lovely - Then Got the bill - it had 2 glasses on it so check your bill - either a mistake or the old trick of adding items thinking it wonāt be noticed. All small things but added up to make it an average experience and wouldnāt be back in it as itās the worst meal Iāve had in 5 nights/6 days in the city.

Great big restaurant with good food and reasonable prices. Very nice waiter and good place to have a beer and burger. Will definitely return in the future when in this part of NYC.

This is my local pub when I'm over from Scotland and I've enjoyed their hospitality on numerous occasions - being a couple of minutes walk from my hotel is a bonus. Bar staff are very friendly, a great atmosphere and it's just a delight to go into - as a single female I don't feel in the least intimidated; good selection of draught and bottled beer, wines and spirits; food menu is great too and very good value - I've had the Shepherds Pie, Pan Roasted Chicken, Buffalo Wings and the Turkey Burger - got absolutely no complaints at all; so to Tony, Rory, David, Erin and Joey - I wish you and everyone else at The Joyce a very happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year; from your friend Helen from Scotland

I popped in here for a drink with my mum and we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful interior. We enjoyed it so much for a drink that we returned later that evening for dinner and again the next day for a leaving drink. The staff were so friendly and attentive, they really went above and beyond and the food was the best we had in NYC. There was also live music after 9, great atmosphere and overall experience. Would highly recommend

One of the worst place I visited in the last 10 years! Service way below average. Food was coming out of a freezer like a Costco style sort of thing. No taste, presentation was less than simple. Nothing else to say!!!!

Called in at this pub twice during a recent visit to New York. Our first visit was great. Lovely food, happy hour drink deals and excellent table service from Joey and JoLisa. Second visit not so good. Food good but drinks full price (no HH on a weekend), service very poor. Waitress was rude and arrogant. At the end of the evening she presented us with a bill which she stated included a mandatory 20% tip . This equated to almost $44. When we mentioned to the waitress that we had always been given the option to tip when paying she just said that 20% was mandatory in this establishment. We also pointed out that on the menu it clearly stated that 20% would be expected on tables comprising 5 or more people. Our party was 4. We mentioned this to the waitress also to which she remarked 'this is America !' Her attitude reflected just why we did not want to pay the 20% tip. Shame really because we enjoyed our meals at the Joyce but just felt that we had been scammed. My recommendation would be to point this out to waiting staff when visiting. We spoke to the Manager about this and he also stated that there was nothing he could do about this. To be clear we paid the 20% tip on our first visit as a reflection of the level of the excellent service we had received. We had intended to visit twice more for food before returning home but we decided to chose other venues given this experience.

We stayed at a hotel up the road so this was perfectly placed for a drink to end the night or coming back from a day's sight seeing. Friendly staff. Nice beer and choices. Sports on TV, including football Had food one night and good service. Burgers were juicy and filling. Recommend bar.

Very nice restaurant and very well located. Very cozy decor, with lots of corners that give enough privacy. Good food and plenty of options. Friendly staff and fast service.

Sunday late night dinner. Place was not busy. Good quality food in a relaxed atmosphere resembling an Irish Pub.

Do you ever have those nights you don't expect where you float into a place for a quick drink and chat with a friend and wind up having a story you tell for the next year? That's what I got at The Joyce. I wandered down from our hotel with a friend to have a beer and, three hours and many Guinness pours later, had spent the night chatting with the four or five people we landed near as well as the bar staff. We wandered back a couple nights later and got a near-closing time drink as well. The Joyce will remain on my list of places to stop in every time I'm in NYC.

I was staying in a nearby hotel and popped in for dinner with a colleague. This is a pleasant Space with great pub food, friendly staff and great a beer selection.

As title we had a few drinks here during happy hours as we were staying in hotel next door. Good craic with the bar staff and although we didnāt eat here the food looked good and the diners appeared happy enough.

An Irish pub should get fish and chips right. Well, I was wrong. The first batch was soggy and so greasy so I sent it back. We got the turkey burger too. Had good flavor but super dry. We waited and waited for them to redo our order but I finally told server to cancel it. The manager was nice to come to our table and address the problem. He sent us with a to-go order of fish and chips and when we opened itā¦. It was no better than what we sent back. The batter was overdone and the fish was soggy either grease. Gross. The picture shows on my fingers how greasy the fish was and look at the fish closer in the picture. Needless to say I h just tossed it in the trash. And on top of that, our server was not attentive, we had to ask her to refill our tea, and water. I think she was trying to get her section empty to go home. Super disappointed and not cheap to boot.
Absolute garbage
I can't believe the reviews that I have read about this place. I double checked credit card to ensure I had the right place. Food was awful. Reuban was stack of cold corned beef (or pastrami) on marble rye. Cheese was cold. No sauerkraut. Butternut squash soup was way too much heavy cream and not enough squash. Fish and chips were the absolute worst I have ever tasted. Waiter said it was fresh and it was cod. It didn't taste like any cod I have eaten and the ammonia smell and taste was a sure sign it wasn't fresh. My daughter who loves fish and chips ordered it and I was shocked to see she barely touched it. After trying a piece and spitting it out in my napkin (another first for me at a restaurant) I felt bad that she was still hungry.
