After traipsing up and down all over Manhattan looking for a particular Irish football game my team were playing, to no avail, I stumbled across Long Hall. Very friendly, accomodating staff. Went out of their way to get the game on for me. Really cosy, and felt like I'd never left Dublin at all. Would seriously recommend.

As the name states, LONG. Bar along one wall, tables on other. Typical decor, they sell "groceries", I guess from Ireland, so that is part of the decor. Staff was friendly. Food was good and priced fair. Nothing exceptional, but a very nice meal. The bathrooms were unique. I'll leave it at that so if you go I do not spoil the surprise.

I came across this gem of a bar while on a trip to visit friends. The staff were incredibly welcoming and the food was exceptional. Strongly recommend to anyone who likes Guinness! Probably the best pint I've had in NYC

I really wanted to love this place since I love Irish pubs but sadly, it was only okay. Three friends and I came in with a 6:30 reservation for a Friday night. No one bothered to greet us until we went and told a bartender that we had a reservation. They then said they'd go check if there were tables available. Another 15 minutes passed until another employee walking by asked us if we were being helped. We told him we had a reservation, and he finally seated us. For drinks, the waitress got our orders wrong multiple times, and it took forever to flag her down each time. It was like she'd specifically ignore our table for no reason. As for food, I was unfortunately on a low-carb diet, so I ordered their ahi tuna salad (served rare with seaweed salad, avocado, teriyaki sauce, lettuce, peppers, jicama, granny smith apple, orange and sesame dressing). Normally, I know better than to order raw tuna at a bar but none of the other items (that I could eat) appealed to me. The fish itself actually wasn't bad, but they ruined it with the thick, overly sweet teriyaki sauce. Plus, nothing in the salad complemented each other. It seemed like it was just a bunch of random ingredients thrown together. Normally, I wouldn't mind coming back to try the food because this one is on me - who the heck orders a salad at the bar? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that their regular bar fare is better since they sound pretty good. But the salad wasn't the only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth - it was the service too. I don't think I'll be back - at least not when that waitress is working, and not on a Friday.

We stopped off for food at the end of a long day in the city. Food was delicious! The barman was on his todd and despite a busy crowd for a Monday he was well in control. Great beer, lovely atmosphere, would happily recommend!

Great Irish Pub in NYC, if you are truly looking for authentic Irish people ambience and food, this is the place to go. If you are not sure what to order just ask the staff and they are more than happy to explain what the specials are for the day. It gets pack after work, but it's worth the visit. Food is authentic and the price is reasonable. We went there a few times during Thanksgiving Week.

We were told about this place by a barman in another drinking establishment. The Guinness is the best I have had in New York. Very friendly staff and good prices. They have a quiz on Tuesdays.

I dropped into this bar randomly with a couple of the guys on a random night after a long day and it turned out to be one of the best nights ever. There was a great Irish theme to it, I felt like I was actually in Ireland soaking up the culture. The bar staff were amazing, made us feel like regulars straight away and there was great music playing in the background. The food was delicious and the cool creamy pints of Guinness went down so well that we there well into the night. Would really recommend this place!!!

stopped in for a bite and had the cod tacos so good.. the sauce had the perfect kick. and the beef stew was excellent.. potatoes on the bottom best comfort food. the place was so warm cozy. and of course had a cup of Barry's tea. Jessica was great .. my husband cut his hand and needed a band aid which she offered all sizes for him. So grateful they had them. The place is fun and has energy. We went to Ireland last year and the place bought back great memories. Would go back.

Knew it was a pub but wanted Fish and Chips and they advertised as Irish Pub. Guy behind the bar was nice- told us to sit anywhere. Took forever to be waited on- they weren’t busy. Never impolite but almost felt like since we weren’t ordering drinks that we weren’t a priority. Food was okay-not great but the service was bad. Up to this point food in NY rocked.

Drank here a few times during our trip, enough to get tokens for free drinks and had one meal which was great. This is an Irish Bar and a lot of the clientele and staff are Irish although there is also a good mix of locals as we found out during the free quiz on the Tuesday evening. There are a number of tv's showing American and UK sports. Once you get over the price of alcohol in America this bar is reasonably priced compared to others and offers a wide range of beers and spirits with a good menu of snacks and meals. Special shout out to Rachel and Feargal for a great night, top bar staff.

We call here a few times, as our hotel was close. The staff are great, and the food tasty. I would recommend the bar to everyone.

We just stopped here walking back to our hotel from the Empire State Building. Many patrons were there watching a soccer match. Plenty of Irish drinks to choose from, and the food looked really good. Our server spoke with an Irish accent, so, of course, approved when we toasted, “Slainte!”

This is an amazing place got lots of soul and character and very friendly staff, if your stuck for anything on the way home this is the place tea bags curry sauce mustard chef sauce weetabix you name they have it good friendly vibrant atmosphere, food is pretty good here too great venue for the sports events definitely worth a try

We booked a table for Tuesday night while we were in New York to attend their trivia night and have dinner. It was a really fun and friendly atmosphere and they had drink deals all night to go along with the quiz. The food was better than usual pub fare and we enjoyed our night.

We popped in here for a burger and a pint and we weren't disappointed at all. Friendly and attentive staff with food cooked to order. We all hard hand made burgers with proper home made fries. Good choice of food and drinks. Would definitely go back.

Great buzz around this place on a Friday evening. Food was fine, typical fare for an Irish bar. Better was the craic and noise of the bar. Staff very helpful also.

Called in on a Saturday lunch time and the place was fairly busy as the 6 Nations Rugby was in progress. Service was fine - our waitress was a little Irish lass. We both went for the traditional fish and chips - both very tasty - well cooked and well presented though perhaps a little pricey. If you don't mind a bit of noise either from the TV or the patrons then a good place to hang out.

Went here for a bite to eat on my lunch hour. The place was quite but it took some time to place and then get our orders. Was it worth the time, just barely. You wouldn't be rushing back for the food. Staff however, were very nice, engaging and professional. They might entice me to give it another try sometime!

Great staff, very friendly and fast service. Was there three times in 5 days and was there the morning of the All Ireland Hurling Final. Got a front row seat and ordered a full Irish breakfast just in time for kick off. The place was hopping. Will defiantly be returning on my next visit. Great memories......

Great Guinness, great people and great fun right in the heart for New York City. The bar staff are very pleasant and friendly, cant wait to return for another bacon and cabbage dinner.

During our four day New York stay, we went to the Long Hall twice. Loved the atmosphere - laid back, with a very friendly bartender. Their chicken nachos were delicious and they made an awesome Moscow Mule. Great place to watch a game or hang out with friends.

Having our flights cancelled led us to having a few more days catching up with old friends and this was the perfect location. Warm and cosy with friendly staff invited us to stay longer than we should have! The food and value are fantastic, and a friendly bar woman was on hand to cater to us. I’d recommend it to everyone.

Just like a bar in Ireland. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Excellent food at a reasonable price. A rare find in New York- a great pint of GUINNESS in a 20oz glass

My better half and I came here with NY friends and we had a few pints of Guinness which can only be described as divine! Jonny (the owner) brought us down some proper Irish style chips on the house. Great bar and would recommend it to any fan of a good Guinness

Spending a week in New York City with 5 other female friends this quickly became our local. The atmosphere was terrific, the food was fantastic and the staff were just unbelievably friendly and accommodating. If you're coming to the city you must make time to stop and just simply enjoy the wonderful staff, food and general ambiance. TOP NOTCH

My wife and two sons (under 10) were waiting for our time ticket to tour the Empire State Building and needed a quick lunch. This quaint and simple Irish pub was the perfect stop to get a quick meal and a few drinks. Service was fast and friendly. Kids were satisfied as well.

We stumbled across this place with my family and kids for a reasonable meal in NYC. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent menu, including traditional Irish fare, fantastic bar, beer selection- all at very reasonable prices for NYC. The food and service was so outstanding that we ate there every night! They even had live Irish music a few nights! The bar was great! Friendly people! Very clean and comfortable! I will be back! Highly recommend for food and bar-all ages!!! What a find!!

Buddy had a happy hour here and was able to get the upper room, which is a great space if you have a large group. I was actually surprised on how big the space was that overlooked 34th street. Had the beer and wings special, which was good. Hung out later downstairs since it was raining and not worth going to another bar. The downstairs had a good crowd too, but not as comfortable as the upstairs area.

My husband and myself went there on a visit to New York. I was not disappointed. The food was excellent, I had the fish and chips, and my husband had the shepherds pie, both were delicious and I was happy the portions were just right. The staff were extremely friendly and not over bearing and the atmosphere was fantastic. I thought the prices overall were very good and did not get a stroke when we got the bill. Next time I'm in New York I'm definitely going back.

Yes, it's an Irish Pub, but the food is much more than average. Due to the fact that is close-by the office, my colleagues and I are coming here often when we want a pub with a really good tasty food. The beer selection is average. Service is good. TVs everywhere to watch whatever sporting event is going on.

This place is authentic and high quality. As good or better than any pub in the city. The Shepherds Pie is unbelievable and the fish and chips are on par. Meatloaf is the best thing on the menu!!! The people are wonderful -- if you are from Ireland you will miss home and if you aren't, you'll want to plan a trip.

Stopped here for a Tayto fix and ended up grabbing a quick lunch. My water had black stuff floating in it and they shorted me a pot sticker, then overcharged me. That was eventually fixed, but I won't be going back. I'm only even giving 2 stars, because there aren't too many places to get Tayto crisps in the area, but I'll probably just order some online next time.

So easy to meet people and family from here , the wifes and girlfriends went down the street to Macy's for an 'hour' , some went to The Empire State (all on 34th Street, 3 minutes to ES) . Food was excellent. Service was genuine , never let waiting . Highly recommended

Thanks to Jonathan and all the staff for making us so very welcome during our recent week's stay in New York. We made this our "base" even though it was a 20 minute subway ride away, that's how much we enjoyed it. It's a lovely Irish bar, selling all kinds of beers, single malts, other drinks and also, a grocery store selling essentials. The menu is excellent! I spoke to Jonathan about the Grocery shop within the pub and he showed me a book highlighting the popularity of such places back in his homeland of Ireland, in such places as County Mayo and County Kerry. It was brilliant spending time with him and he made us so local. Irish music on at the weekends, a quiz in the week and food to die for, my favourite being the "small shepherd's pie" which was out of this world for flavour!! A great place to sit and wind down, have a beer and a meal. The staff will make you extremely welcome and this is quality and value for money at the upper end of the spectrum! Thanks to you all Mark & Sarah :)

Great service, Great food, Great people. Stumbled into this great Irish bar looking for lunch. Was not disappointed.

Quick bite to eat mid afternoon, great service and good atmosphere - seemed to be a lot of regulars in.

Stumbled across this place as were looking to watch some sport and have a bit to eat. Being an Irish bar which was advertising Irish sausages and mash on the menu thought it would be a safe bet to go with that for lunch. Fair to say they were some of the nastiest sausages I've tasted and very unfair to give them the Irish title! There was not a herb inside these sausage and they looked like and tasted like some sort of supermarket value range! The mash gravy and onion was not much better and this meal wasn't cheap either. Nice looking bar but we were the only ones in there, so lacked any real atmosphere at the time.

My Wife & I Went to the Long Hall on our first night in NY. Great Bar & Food. I had the steak burger & it turned out to be the best burger I had while in NY & best priced. The barman & the waitress were both lovely & really made us feel welcome. This is a Fantastic honest Irish/American bar that won't let you down. If you're staying in the area I would make it your local. AFC!

This was the first Irish pub we stumbled upon - first night in NYC, having travelled from the UK that morning. My husband was utterly delighted to be greeted an Irish speaking girl (he takes his Irish GCSE this year!) so had a great conversation. Surprised and thrilled at hearing her mother-tongue, she made us very welcome. The hospitality can't be faulted. We decided on the Irish stew to complete the ambience of the evening and it was lovely - BUT we were exhausted and VERY HUNGRY! So the tiny portion of Irish stew that was set before us seemed like a bit of a joke - although not particularly funny when we paid the bill - $16 each for a small plate of stew and $8 a pint for Guinness. Plus the usual 20% tip. It was an expensive start to the week and we didn't go back. Maybe we just chose the wrong meal - Irish stew? Small plate? What's Irish about that? We went somewhere else for a proper pudding.

The staff here were excellent. They were all friendly and welcoming. You never had to wait long for a drink. The food is good and priced well.

This bar was just a few blocks from my hotel in NYC. Visited on occasions back to hotel and was good to catch sport or have a drink at the end of a hard day of sightseeing. The staff were really friendly and the food was great. It was nice to be able to get an amazing flatbread at 11pm! Would def go back! Really good atmosphere and the quiz is fun too!

A lovely place to meet up with friends. Great service, friendly staff. It was like a museum of the Dingle Peninsula where I live. There were amazing photographs on the walls, taken by the owner I heard. I would definitely go back again to have a drink there. I think I would also have a meal next time. My daughter and I met cousin Jeffrey there and enjoyed the place very much. Thank you all in The Long Hall Pub & Grocery. Brigid from Camp, Dingle Peninsula.

From the minute we walked into the Long Hall we felt at home. Jonathan had organised some irish groceries for me in advance.as I had e mailed him before arrival. Its a fabulous bar. The food and the drink is brilliant. We went there for New years eve.and the atmosphere was electric. The best thing about the Long Hall is via staff.I've yet to meet nicer staff anywhere. They just go above and beyond to facilitate the customer and make them feel totally at home.and in a place as big and impersonal as New York.thats rare. Would highly recommend a visit.

Long hall is a great place to eat . Drinks at the right price and friendly service . You will find the Irish staff and owners are very welcome to see you at all time of the day and night . Don't miss this small part of Ireland in New York. Dean & Esther

It was a rainy day when my cousin and I finished our visit to the Empire State Building. We were looking for a place to have lunch and stumbled onto this pub. What a great find. Service was quick and friendly, the food was outstanding, and the price was very reasonable. Would love to visit again if in the area for dinner/drinks!

The food was excellent. We ate there three times and were not disappointed. Food and drink reasonably priced, atmosphere excellent. The bar staff, Sarah and Rachel were cracking. The owners, Jonathan, Gerry and Cathal were so friendly and made you feel more like friends than customers. This is one place you must try. Gavin and Stacey

Visited a couple of times and received a friendly welcome on both occasions, never ate there but the food looked good. Good selection of spirits and Tayto crisps, which are always a welcome sight!

Googled this place for a nice lunch. We weren’t disappointed. Great menu selection starting from $10 and happy hour drinks. Good service. Would recommend.

I was on a trip to NYC in April and was told to visit the Long Hall. After a day of site seeing and shopping we dropped in for some food and a few drinks. Would HIGHLY recommend this place, the food was fantastic and the the Guinness was top class. This bar has a lovely Irish theme and the decor really reflects this. The staff are very friendly and were very helpful in recommending the must do things in New York. Will be visiting the Long Hall next time I'm in NYC.

We wandered into the Long Hall late one night, and were happy to see a lively and friendly crowd at the bar. The bartender was very nice and he was a master at pouring that pint. Big up to the Long Hall for sticking to the essentials and getting it all right.

Unfortunately we only found this bar on our final day. We had tried several others whilst in New York. We didn’t have chance to try the food, that’s for next time !!! Very hospitable owner and staff, felt very welcome. We will go and try the food next time.

surly service beer in tiny glasses shot of alcohol just about wet the glass, total rip off avoid at all costs, about as irish as the haggis.

Visited in Febuary 2018. Made feel extremly welcome by Johnaton and his staff. Nice food and few drinks. I would recommend a visit to The Long Haul when in New York made feel at home and food was delicious. We will be back.

Went with a friend who lives close by and loves this place and treats it as his local. Good sized bar with fast & really friendly service ... your beer is replenished very quickly when sat at the bar - which was great ... although ended up drinking a one or two more than originally intended :-) Prices very reasonable. If you're an Irish/UK expat can also pick up some groceries to remind you of home - HP Sauce, Mushy Peas etc. I was in NYC 4 nights and ended everynight here. Hopefully I'll visit again soon.

Had a lovely home made lasagne with fries & coleslaw - a fabulous meal. The staff were excellent and kept asking if we were OK - very impressed

I’m posting this on multiple sites so that people are aware of what they’re walking in to... I am handicapped and have an aide that assists me. I walk with a brace on my leg and as soon as I walked in the owner (or says he’s the owner) approached me. He asked if I was okay and I laughed and said, “Oh yeah, I just have a bad leg.” I sat down and saw they sold Irish products, so I in fact got up from the table to look at the Irish candies. The waitress approached me and again, asked if I was okay. So, thinking nothing of it, I said, “oh yeah. Just looking at the Irish products.” I sit back down. The waitress asks what we would like to order. I asked how the curry was and the waitress recommended it. I ordered the curry and my aide ordered the pasta. Then I said, “Can I also have a coffee with just a small bit of whiskey?” I enjoy an Irish coffee here and there, but I make sure it’s not made too strong. Immediately the waitress says, “I can’t serve you.” Then, the owner immediately comes over as I’m asking her why and he goes into a tirade that he has the right to deny serving me because he’s liable and doesn’t know what “condition” I’m in. I’ve NEVER been treated like this, so my Irish temper certainly came out! I was in such shock that I said I didn’t even know what he was talking about. He then told me that he asked if I was okay when I came in and that if I couldn’t “remember” that it showed “what condition I was in.” NO! I remember-I was just in awe of what was going on. He again claimed he had the right to not serve me because he didn’t know what kind of medication I was on! This was after explaining (which I did not have to do) that I had had 4 brain surgeries and that’s why I wore a leg brace. Silly me for thinking he’d understand. And mind you, this was all over an order of an Irish coffee with a request for it light on the whiskey. Of course, I was so upset that I wound up tripping over the leg of the table walking out. That only added fuel to his fire. He was more than happy to lose my business. I’m sure being an Irish pub he’s never over-served....yet, a woman who requested a small bit of whiskey in her coffee-now that’s a serious issue.

Cool dark, cozy, friendly. Authentically Irish. Good bar keepers. Good pub food. Take away Irish treats (the grocery part of the place's name). Football on the tele. Great selection of excellent European beers. Oh, and the whisky. Did I mention the whisky? Fine selection. Worthy stop. Very worthy.

I have been stopping here when in town once a a month for about a year now. Even though I only stop by once a month every time I come in the bartender remembers me a automatically starts pouring me a Guineas. It had that small town local pub feel in the big city.

Came across this place after a recommendation from a friend while on holidays in New York. Absolutely loved it. The atmosphere makes this place, I felt so relaxed and chilled. The mix of people was really enjoyable. Regulars, a few Irish, few after work people.. What really makes a great Irish bar is the people in them and the staff here were so friendly and really made you feel like you were there to 'have the Craic' with them. They gave us great tips and information which made our trip and we finished off with some good old bacon and cabbage which was yum. Thanks guys, keep up the good work.

I was last here pre pandemic in 2019 so really glad to see it's survived and retained all it's charm... it was like coming back to your local bar. Visited 2 nights out of 4 whilst in NYC.. a great place to end the night with a few beers - friendly staff, good atmosphere even on a quiet Monday night... recommend for sure.

The long hall is the perfect spot after a hard days shopping or sight seeing. The staff are lovely and friendly the food is top notch and the guinness is as good as at home. Will definitely return on my next visit to new York.

I heard about the Long Hall before I visited New York and was told it was a must, it did not disappoint. Perfectly positioned between the Empire State building and Macys, we planned to drop in for a bite to eat for lunch in between trips to both. The friendly informed staff added to the charm of this Irish themed Gem (Irish themed which ran from its owners, food, drinks menu and interiors - the front part of the bar mimics the old style public houses of rural Ireland where the front of house was a fully stocked shop, we were even allowed to purchase some of the stock to take back to our hotel) Our server let us know that there was live Irish music on later that day so we dropped back in to rest our feet and soak up the atmosphere and of course enjoy a creamy cool pint of Guinness, this turned into a few! A real local in a city of strangers, I loved it.

Stopped into The Long Hall for a quick lunch on a recent business trip. Best decision of my day. Pulled up a seat at the bar and happened to be sitting next to the owner Jonathan who was very friendly, conversational, and of course hailed from Ireland. He was having tomato soup so I joined in and followed with Shepherd's Pie and washed it all down with an expertly poured, delicious Guinness. The atmosphere of The Long Hall is what you expect of an Irish Pub and the bartender did not disappoint either. Very attentive and friendly and of course, from Ireland. What is very interesting is that it is also a grocery with traditional offerings from Ireland. If you are Irish and miss home, or want to eat like you are from Ireland, there are many items straight from the island available for purchase or just order off the menu and enjoy the great food, the atmosphere, and especially the conversation with the amazing staff. I will be back again.

Fabulous meal and lovely atmosphere, on holidays and found this little bit of Ireland . Would highly recommend a visit 🇮🇪

Great Place! We followed a lady with a post and flyers and ended up here. How lucky! The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We had a Cesar's Salad and Dumplings, both great choices! If it wasn't our last day in NYC, we'd definitely be back.

What an amazing bar! Brilliant atmosphere and the food was gorgeous! Johnny the owner and all of his staff couldn't have been nicer to us. Can't wait to go back again.

Long Hall was the closest restaurant to our hotel that I was sure would have the game so we figured we would give it a try and I'm glad we did. Food and service were both excellent Lots of TVs Good beer and drink selection If I return to that part of NYC again I will be sure to return

I ate here with 2 friends. All 3 of us ordered lasagna & we all sent it back as it was stone cold. It reappeared (think just reheated) and later that night 2 of us were vomitting and had diarrhoea. Will obviously never return

Had a trip to nyc in Jan to see family The long hall staff are very friendly Always being aware you are there as a customer and make your experience very enjoyable. If you want to taste a Guinness like your in your favourite spot in Dublin you have to try the Long hall Pint Sunday,s bacon and cabbage is a feel good Option for your food Irish trad music adds to a good atmosphere . Sunday session .

Took a breather in NY and had lunch at this watering hole. We were not famished and took advantage of the Lunch specials - my husband had the fish and chips and I had the chicken tenders. Mine also came with seasoned fries. Fries were sharp tasting and crispy - chicken well seasoned and also crispy fried. Chicken was tender and very appetizing. My husband loved the fish and chips as well. He said his fish was flaky and good - coating crispy and well seasoned. I would eat here again! Staff friendly and food served quickly and while still piping hot.

Stumbled upon this place after a hard days sightseeing. The bar itself is gorgeous, interesting to look at and has a good atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was definately amazing value for money, 3 of us ate for just under $70. If you're in the area you must check this place out!!!

Recently I've spent some time in New York. I found this absolute gem of a bar on the way to visiting the Empire State Building. The staff are one a kind and make you feel like a regular straight away. And even remembered me when I returned!! The atmosphere is electric just like a pub at home in Ireland. The food is mouth watering. You can even enjoy a bag of tayto with a pint! Put the long hall on your list of must dos when visiting NY along with the Statue of Liberty and the likes!!!
Perfect Evening
Met up with six cousins in from Ireland. There were 14 of us all total. We had a large table in the rear. We ordered drinks, appetizers (loved the dumplings, chicken satay and eggplant chips) and main meal. Those included the delicious shephards pie, wonderful fish and chips and love, love, loved the Irish curry. Our server was wonderful. She did mix up some of the order, however, she was the only one taking care of all of the tables. We had been a little concerned because we had never been to this pub and wanted everything to go well. It did. We had a wonderful evening. The Americans left for their subway journey home and the Irish cousins stayed to hear the band which was setting up. They loved them. Thank you Long Hall for a great evening!
