Disappointing

By Agy K |

I was excited to visit this place because of the good reviews. We waited long for the food our drinks arrived afterwards. I ordered breakfast burrito which was so soggy and watery it was uneatable. The potatoes had so much fresh herbs and spices on them they were uneatable either. I sent the food back and asked for fries. I watched my colleague eat the whole meal before the fries arrived. I was sitting staring at empty table with undrinkable orange juice that was watered down to not even look orange anymore. I was charged for the fries no one was bothered I didn't have good experience or tried to make it better. Not going to be recommending this place.

Happy hour is a joke most things not available or smaller portions

By Mike H |

Went with a party of 7 for happy hour, happy hour menu is shortened most beers not available ones available are $6 vs $9 fries are small portions complete rip off and quality is just ok so if you want to pay $11 for a beer off the main menu (small can) have fun otherwise many better choice $50 a head is silly money!

HH is M-F 4-6 - get the cheese curds!

By Melanie T |

I recently organized a work HH here and it was great! I worked with Leland and he was very easy to communicate with. I was working with a tight budget, and the Malt House was one of the few bars in the area that did not require a minimum but still gave us our private space. Originally, we planned for about 40 people but on the day of the event, it was thunder-storming, so a lot of people bailed. I gave them the heads up that it would probably only be about 15 people, and they were still happy to accommodate. We also told them that we only wanted people ordering the happy hour menu drinks (HH is M-F 4-6) and they were very good at enforcing this. For drinks, I had a Moscow Mule. It was refreshing, but a little too sweet for my taste. On to the food. We ordered the happy hour bites, and I didn't come across a single bite I did not like. We had the buttermilk chicken bites, wings, rosemary fries, and cheese curds. My favorite was probably the cheese curds, especially with the chipotle aioli it came with. I liked it even better with the cilantro jalapeno aioli that came with the chicken bites. Would def have another work event here, and even come back on my own to try some of the other food.

Short visit in Wed night

By Nina |

Music was a bit too loud, hard to hear what waitress was saying. appetizers were good finger food. Maybe selection was not so wide but OK. Good service.

Unbelievably good value and such a lovely place. Can’t recommend more highly.

By Anna-Louise B |

Having a fantastic time. Quite honestly two cocktails in at happy hour and they are not shy on pouring! Also two plates of fish tacos demolished and feeling very happy. Extremely lovely service and great vibe.

Great Stop for Lunch/Brunch while in NYC

By moongirl |

On a beautiful autumn day, while in NYC, we made a stop for lunch on a Saturday. Well apparently this place does brunch/lunch on weekends. But...what a great surprise. Not only is the food great, but the place is so inviting with their gracious, friendly staff. I enjoyed a meal of a sunny side egg with avocado on toast, freshly sliced tomato and red onion. Just delicious. My husband enjoyed a burger which he rated a 9 out of 10. The burger was topped with a sunny side up egg that was really good. I highly recommend this place if you are downtown NYC which is really a vibrant place to visit.

Just OK.

By physiodude |

Had drinks and appetizers after the happy hour had ended. The place was still very busy and super loud (conversation just below shout level at our table). Our food and drinks were on the spendy side but still fairly decent for hipster pub fair. We'd try again perhaps during happy hour.

Great Happy Hour

By Mjk21love2travel |

We had drinks and heavy apps on St. Patrick's Day. The happy hour specials are great! It's really enough for dinner and the food quality was excellent. They also had a nice mix of beers on draft. Love that that happy hour is throughout the whole restaurant and not just at the bar.

Great for Dinner & Brunch

By Allison M |

My boyfriend and I love this place! We always find ourselves going back. We probably go here every time we stay downtown in NYC. The food is great, people are nice, and good for different meals (dinner, brunch, lunch, etc). We usually make reservations, although at certain times you can just walk in.

Great brunch!

By Tourist44977889985 |

We got the American breakfast, which was generous portion. The sausage was particularly tasty. Everything had a twist that made it just a little better than what you would expect. Plus Bellinis!

The food has gone steadily

By NYC Chris |

The food has gone steadily down hill. I don’t mind paying $30 in NYC for a decent burger, but their $30 burger is really not good. The old burger was much better. The new 120 Day Aged burger is awful. They over cook the supposed short rib patty—I ordered it rare and it came well done twice! The supposed pate and pork belly topping is just an overpowering mayonnaise. It’s practically inedible. The food here is no longer good. Just go for the beer.

Good food & great beer

By Scott H |

I have been to the Malt House three times now. It's right across the street from the Residence Inn on Broadway. Even though I'm not a big beer drinker but I always enjoy their selection of microbreweries. The food is above average and generous in the portions. It is a younger crowd which adds to the energy and you can always count on a good game on their many TV's. Great place to meet friends for a beer or a comfort meal after a long day traveling. Highly recommended for a casual and good meal.

Great Service

By JOE |

This pub is located close to the Financial District and the decor is mainly retro. Food is good with excellent range of drinks. Service is the best part and was excellent while there however it is expensive.

Fantastic lunch

By ozrick33Sydney |

Called in for lunch today and really enjoyed it. It was busy and very noisy. This is not the place to go for a romantic dinner. The food however was exceptionally good and easy on the wallet. The chicken burger was beautifully crumbed and moist. Great dressing. The fries were top shelf and very moorish. Good service and comfortable seating tick the boxes here.

Great spot for lunch and some drinks

By Mynonnie |

We came here after having visited the WTC museum. It was only about a 10 minute walk from there. Very cozy atmosphere, great music, and good energy. We split the nachos for an appetizer. The nachos were good, not great. Maybe could use more cheese and nachos. It was more so full of jalapeños than the other stuff. The guacamole was delicious. My husband had the burger with rosemary fries. He said it was very good. The rosemary fries were delicious. I had the fish tacos. They were a little spicy, but pretty good. They were a little sparing with the fish. Overall, good food and would definitely come back. Service was so so. Place was not close to being full so would’ve expected better service.

I really enjoyed it !

By camilleyummy |

Went there with my friend for lunch we really liked it. Place is Nice and clean service is nice, but i'll be honest what made me love it that much was the Polenta, guys you have to try the polenta it was deliciouuuuuuus ( they have brunch and burgers ) !! Enjoy !

Excellent food and service. Go there!!!

By Per Hviid |

In the Wall Street area you find this excellent bar and restaurant 200 feets off Broadway. Really cool atmosphere. Quick service. Fantastic food. We were five persons and had different meals. All very fine. Try the rosemary chips. They are awesome. We shall definitely come back next time we are in the area.

Good Wall St pub

By GPBucket |

Tried the Malt House for lunch. The waitress recommended the daily special bison burger. It was good but she failed to mention that it comes loaded with all sorts of gooey messy stuff on top which made for difficult eating. I don't particularly enjoy eating a burger with a knife and fork -- but that seemed the only option if I didn't want to wear my lunch. The onion rings it came with (instead of fries) were just ok; not much onion flavor -- overpowered by the breading. Everything else seemed good. This could easily be a 3.5 if TA would allow.

Great range of Beers and great food

By humeys2017 |

Malt House was local to our accomodation. I enjoyed the range of micro brews on tap. Their service was fast and friendly. They catered for Gluten Free for my coeliac father. Great community atmosphere. I will be back when I'm next in NY.

Great Happy Hour & house beers

By Oscar R |

Went twice, once for happy hour and a few days later for early dinner. Had the amber, wheat beers for the happy hour and they are pretty good. The bar service is quick regardless of how packed it is. For dinner we were a large group and they accommodated us quickly. Reuben, guacamole, sliders, Reuben tacos, onion rings for dinner. The Reuben tacos were a really nice surprise and we ordered a second order!

Great food, beer and ambience

By Valerie B |

We chose this place based solely on proximity to the Marriott across the street but would have come back for the food- kept it simple with burgers. It was the perfect place - darkish, private - to discuss the 9/11 memorial that we'd just visited.

Great bar food

By Lisa_NJ_NY |

I opted for the fish tacos (grilled/corn tortillas), they were delicious made with black beans, not very spicy. The turkey club sandwich, and burgers ordered by my friends were devoured. The menu has a nice selection of bar foods, what you'd expect, but the ingredients and presentation are fresher and a bit different. As this was business lunch, we did not imbibe, but my co-worker raved about the beer selection, given FiDi doesn't have a lot of options for beer fans

Pretty good food

By Gregory F |

We ordered pork sliders and fish tacos. The sliders layered on an onion ring and aoli sauce. Very tasty. The fish tacos were swordfish. Nicely prepared. Washed down the sliders with a beer. Hit the spot after a long drive.

Great bar upstairs and down. Super friendly staff

By boardder |

Stayed across the street on a business trip and was here when the Browns finally won (beat NY Jet's:)). Excellent fried chicken, great bars on both floors

Tacky experience

By Kenneth |

Had brunch here. Food was OK but had an experience that was tacky and left a really sour taste in my mouth. Ordered a coffee with my brunch. It wasn't on the menu (no price indicated etc) but I was brought a lake-warm coffee and milk (see picture). Cup was about half full even after I added milk. About 15 minutes later I ask him to top off my coffee with hot coffee. He then pours about 4 ounces of hot coffee into my cup (which was 1/4 full of Luke warm coffee that had now been sitting around for 20 minutes or so). I get the check and realized I was charged $3.50 for the first coffee (only half a cup) and then another $3.50 for the second "cup." Frankly, (1) if the coffee refills were not free this should have been mentioned to me or indicated on the menu, and (2) for the second cup I should have been brought a full cup of fresh coffee if I was paying $3.50. It's common sense. If I'm paying for another coffee, why are you simply adding a little hot coffee to the Luke warm coffee sitting in my old cup? I don't mind paying for coffee but feel this was tacky and they were trying to squeeze an extra few bucks out of me. Not a good look.

Well built house with some rooms for improvement

By Sanja M |

I was caught in heavy rain, hungry and tired looking for some nice place to step in and The Malt house just seemed as perfect. when I came in it was almost empty (2 more tables and few people at the bar). I was served by young beautiful lady and she helped me with deciding on food and drinks. Drinks were nice but glasses were so small it wasn't wort the price. I had some salad which was good but a little bit too done (too much vinegar). The service was really good at the begining but later when they got few other guests the waitresses became unresponsive. We wanted to order something more and had to wait for them like 10mins and later we just went and order at the bar by ourselves. So the service is not consistent which is pitty cause the place is nice and cosy.

Well worth a visit

By Tom K |

Came here with the whole family and everyone loved their food. Great selection of dishes and all done really well. Can recommend the steak sandwich and fish tacos!

Food was great! A little Noisy.

By Chris G |

Food arrived VERY quickly and the Wagyu burger was AMAZING. Place is rather noisy when busy, so not the place for intimate conversations. After food was delivered, the waitress was difficult to track down for 2nd drink order, or extras like ketchup. Also they have a great draft beer selection, but it is not included on the menu (only bottles and cans) so you have to walk over and look at the chalkboard list at the bar to see what they have.

All good

By Rachelmaria0 |

We came here after the staton island ferry and before going to ground zero We were a party of 8 but they seated us. We all Enjoyed our food and the service was efficient and the waiter friendly

Good place to hang out with a group

By jdms33 |

Have never had an actual meal here but have been a number of times with varying sizes of groups for business gatherings. Staff is always friendly. The bar food/snacks are good - especially the cheese curds and chicken bites. It is usually very crowded near the bar at the street level but you can "reserve" space downstairs. I've been there with groups of 20 to over 100. Nice pub like atmosphere.

Fine place for a pint and american staples

By Cabadrin |

This is a fine place if you're looking for a pint of beer and the typical american fare: burgers, salads, etc. The draft beer list was nice, with some local favorites and deeper cuts, while the food was fine. Service was good. Need a cold drink and some food? Come here.

Better return visit

By OnTravelsAgain |

This was our second visit to this Malt House. We sat at the bar and had good service. Enjoyable atmosphere for a beer

Friendly Place

By shop4ever |

We were here for brunch and some drinks. The bartender was very friendly and made everyone feel comfortable. The food was very tasty. We had a few drinks to celebrate a birthday for one of our friends and the bartender joined in. We had a super time!

Yum!!

By Katherine L |

I was worried at first because the brunch/lunch menu was small, but the food was excellent!! Fish tacos, chicken and waffles, and Mac-n-cheese all got rave reviews from my party. Good atmosphere also.

Good place for a good beer

By Fabrizio P |

Not so easy to find but really nice to have a beer after work or even to have dinner. Place is quite dark inside, but that make the atmosphere! I will be there again for sure.

Decent Brunch

By Elyse M |

I had the fish tacos which were well flavored but a bit dry. My wife had the avocado toast which was a large portion and tasted good. We both got the bottlomless cocktails which are on par with other bottomless options. One aspect is you could mix and match a few select cocktails so you don't have to drink just mimosas. There were other options as well.

Great find downtown NYC

By Aidan456 |

Visited twice after stumbling upon this little gem whilst in town for memorial weekend. It’s a bar specialising in beer with a decent menu. Probably about 30 draft beers on tap so lots of choice to get stuck into. Friendly staff backed up by a solid kitchen turning out tasty food, everything from burgers to tacos - but with well cooked fresh ingredients. Only downside was a few of the beers were served in silly jam jars which just seems pointless. A short walk away from WTC and the 9/11 museum, well worth dropping into.

Good Food.. Slow Service

By PhillyFoodie29 |

My wife and I recently went to NYC for the Billy Joel concert and stopped at the malt house to grab an early dinner before we went. Food was pretty good. My wife had the wagyu burger which was good, very flavorful but was so juicy that the bottom bun pretty much dissolved. I had the rib eye sandwich that was very good . we were placed towards the back of the restaurant and i think the waitress kept forgetting about us. I had to go ask if the food was coming out twice. after we were finished i had to go ask for the check .. we were trying to get to the concert and were worried about getting there late. I had to find another waitress to give her my check and waited there for her to do it so we wouldnt be late.. Maybe the waitress was having an offday ? food was pretty good though .

Fun bar / great food

By Heidi R |

In town with family from Germany. Great destination for a rainy Saturday evening in April. Not too far of a walk from the 9/11 museum. It wasn’t busy and not too loud. The food was tasty and a nice variety of drink selections. I would highly recommend the garganelli ragu.

Awful

By Gary A |

The acoustics of this place are dreadful! You cant hear a thing every one just shouting and leaning in to hear each other just avoid if there are more than 2 of you its pointless you wont hear a thing.

Great Find!

By Scott B |

After walking by many empty pubs, we stopped by The Malt House during happy hour on a Friday. The atmosphere was inviting, the wait staff were energetic, and clientele were friendly and mixed. The drink specials were very reasonable along with a happy hour menu. We ordered fried chicken balls and raw oysters, along with a couple of Lagunita beers and wine. All our selections were excellent. We were having such a great time, I would have prefered to stay all evening if I could have. We will definitely be back.

Cheese curds!!

By Katie G |

I recently went here with some coworkers and didn't have any expectations. Holy cow I will be coming back very soon. The cheese curds were incredible and I think I could eat them as m my meal. The ambience and decoration is really cute also!

Great beer selection and fried curds

By rwood_17 |

We had a couple strong IPAs with the cheese curds (which went great together). Beers were all about $10 each and added up quick. The service was good. I tried to order a really strong stout but the waitress recommended I try it first and I am glad I did, I hated it. I appreciated the waitress providing guidance with the beer choices.

Good lunch spot

By fkher |

Nice beer oriented gastro pub. Select menu of pub plates done well. Can suggest the smoked turkey blt and the bison sliders Place to go after work for drinks. It gets hopping early

Great Apps!

By Wendy R |

Just walking around and stopped in. Great charm and character. We had amazing appetizers and some great beers.

Good food, LOUD music

By cunn5lz |

We went The Malt House because it was across from our hotel. I had fish tacos, they were delicious. I didn't give 5 stars because the music was so loud that you cannot even have a conversation without shouting. But overall it was a good experience. If I stay NY Downtown area next time, I probably order to go instead of dine in.

Nice option in Maiden Ln area

By Rick R |

Stopped by The Malt House looking for a solo dinner while in the financial district. Was able to get seated right away. Nice menu and beer selection. Opted for the Waygu burger and an IPA. Good service and the burger was really excellent. Reasonably priced for the city, so this is a good choice if you are in the area.

Excellent dinner!

By Melanie B |

Took 5 teenagers to dinner here while on a 'skaters-rule' vacation. The food was outstanding and you cannot beat the value. Perfect portion sizes for our growing teens. Small setting did make the ambience quaint. Only minor complaint is that the music was VERY loud. We will come back again if we find ourselves in the Tribeca/FIDI area again.

Pricey but good

By Gianpaolo M |

The place is a bit crowded and noisy, the service is above average. Price above average. The food is good and the portions are huge (sometimes probably too huge).

Long waiting time and wrong order

By Annika R |

We waited for over 20 minutes and then reminded that we hadn’t received any support. As a side we asked for salad and still received fries instead. We received the “new” plates quickly but there were fries in the salad!! The burger was really good though and almost worth the all together waiting time of 50 min.

Beer and dinner

By Erin N |

I've never had cheese curds before so we decided to try them and they were delicious! Lots of beers on tap and in cans. Tried the chocolate coconut porter and it was awesome. Pork sliders were great, husband liked his burger too. Obvious they make their own patties - it was huge and very juicy and well cooked. We would definitely go again!

Great place in financial district

By Rene M |

One of the nicer places in FiDi for brunch/dinner/drinks when looking for a sports bar type of place. Lively, hence keep that in mind, if looking for a quieter place this might not be the best option.

Cocktails and dreams

By Claire M |

Amazing find - Paul and the rest of the bar staff were amazing - loved the cocktails and the hospitality would defo recommend - we will return x

Tasty lunch

By rageisman |

Stopped here after a visit to the 911 memorial museum. This was a Sunday, so full with people having brunch. Definitely a young crowd. Fish tacos were very very good, and my husband enjoyed the fried chicken waffle club. Would recommend if you are in the area.

Great ale house

By delboy186338 |

We went there based on the reviews on TA and were not disappointed, fantastic selection of local ales and a great atmosphere. Food was good value and what I would class as classic but with a twist. Upstairs can be a bit noisy but the downstairs is nice and quiet

great for a beer, food not so much

By Paul C |

This bar is located across from the Residence Inn which we stayed at for 4 nights. We stopped in here for a late afternoon beer/wine on a couple of occasions. Very friendly staff, bartenders were great, wide selection of beers. The buttermilk bites were a good snack to accompany our drinks. One evening we tried it for dinner as it was raining. We ordered the strip steak and short ribs. The strip steak sandwich was a thin, tasteless piece of meat on a roll with melted cheese and raw onions. It was not good. The short ribs were better, but still average.

Brunch

By Lolly’s Look |

Met some friends here for a hearty Saturday brunch. They do have a bottomless option for two hours of unlimited brunch drinks. The food and atmosphere were perfect

Lunch

By Cioaman |

Late lunch and this was close. Thought the burger and fries were superior. A couple of our party had the fish tacos and they were not impressed. Good service and would go back.

Accommodating and good food.

By Lara G |

Came here with a really large group a few weeks ago for Brunch. The food was excellent as was the service. My avocado toast was particularly good. They were great at accommodating a group of almost 20 people. My only regrets were not being able to get bottomless brunch drinks the day I came and only tasting their sweet potato fries. I will definitely be back!

Good Food and Excellent Drinks

By jessye814 |

The restaurant was across the street from the Residence Inn WTC where I stayed. We decided to eat here after we returned from a Broadway show. It was late so I ordered the loaded nachos with grilled chicken to share with the table and the other two ladies shared a garlic chicken pasta. The food was really good. I also ordered a drink called the tombstone, which was so good I had to order another one. It may be seasonal, it was like a watermelon margarita, with chilli spices instead of salt around the rim. Yummo! I also like the garlic chicken pasta so much I considered returning for dinner one evening, but didn't get around to it. A reason to revisit :)

Great food and ambiance

By Steve F |

Very cool FiDi spot, we found it after walking the Brooklyn Bridge and visiting The World Trade Center. We were seated immediately and the service was great. Local beers on tap were very good as was the food. A little loud, but it's NYC, so everywhere you go it's loud.

Great food and service

By Carlos McInnes |

Busy place on a Friday afternoon. Friendly staff made us feel welcome. Food and drinks were great and came out quickly. Great atmosphere

Perfect Brunch

By Jessica M |

After the NYCHalf my boyfriend & I brought both sets of parents for a celebratory brunch. The place is big with three levels and the atmosphere is perfect for conversation! We opted in for the $18 bottomless brunch cocktails for 2 hours - my dad and boyfriend each had the Maltmosa & I tried both the mimosa & the blood orange screwdriver - all were very balanced with a good amount of alcohol & very tasty! The server was a little absent at times, but overall was friendly and attentive. I had the American breakfast entree and it was very good. The sausage was not very good - very spicy and crumbly - and the bacon was not thoroughly cooked - but overall the food was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals & commented on how perfect it was was fore the occasion.

Decent food

By Rbarkley8 |

Decent food, moderate price and really close to our hotel in the financial district. Food came out really quickly and service was good.

Great Neighborhood Spot

By EATDPAT |

This place has a nice warm atmosphere, a large long bar, and is almost always full of locals. We like going here after work for bar snacks and a nice cocktail.

Beer and Lunch

By jphinme |

Found this place on TA. Like the atmosphere. Brick and raw interior. Up beat music with a hint of Irish. Sat at bar. Bartenders. Wet helpful. Wide selection of beers. Asked for an IPA and he asked how "hoppy". "Average," I said. He gave me a sample of one he selected. Spot On. Menu was brunch and lunch. Variety of items for brunch with meats of all kind. Lunch too. Ordered the Chicken Waffle Club. I found the waffle delightfully "light" yet crispy. The sauce balanced the waffle sweetness. Good meal. Nice place for casual, good food, good beer. Fun.

Ate here three times

By Michael B |

So close to my hotel, clean, sports on TV, pretty ladies all over, prompt and courteous service. I tried the buttermilk chicken sandwich and the fish and chips. The sandwich is the one! Comes with coleslaw and BBQ sauce on it. Get with a nice side salad. Perfect. Looked like it had a great selection of beers, but I don't drink. Sorry. Solid place with very good, fresh food and nice, good looking people.

In the Mix!

By Kelly V |

I love the Malt House down in the Village, so I decided to try out their spot in the Financial District. I actually loved this place better even tho it isn't such a grand departure from the other spot. When I arrived, the hostess sat me in a corner by the staircase. I wasn't crazy about the spot and since it was my first time there, I really didn't want to be stuck in a dark corner by the kitchen, I wanted to be in the mix. I was unsure what to do, if I should go grab a seat by the bar while I waited for my friend to arrive or if I should ask the hostess to be reseated... I was hesitant because I didn't want to be "that person". A server saw my confusion and asked if I needed help. I explained it was my first time and respectfully wanted a different spot... she was extremely helpful, found me a spot upstairs overlooking the bar and restaurant - much more along the lines of what I wanted. I wish I had her name, she was an excellent server: attentive, made suggestions, and super friendly. Not at all annoyed I wanted to switch spots and simply made me feel at ease over something so meaningless and easy. The food was good, typical fried bar food. The beers were good (they need some Greenpoint Beer on their tap), lots of sours, and their cocktails were awesome. Five stars for hospitality, service, and beer list. Thank you, kind server, for being awesome and not making me feel like a jerk for wanting to really appreciate the atmosphere and enjoy MHFiDi!

Excellent beer, barely adequate food, very poor service

By CuratedTravels |

The list / options for draft beer are excellent. The Left Handed Milk Stout is super, as are other choices. So, if you are going for beer - good decision. The fries were VG too. The rest unfortunately is all down hill. You only get the fries after you remind the server (Johana) that you placed a few orders of fries 20 minutes prior...then the fries arrive in another 10 minutes without a word of apology or recognition of the error...Same with the meal...one entree left off completely...again no apology. One can only surmise that with a built in gratuity of 18% for a party of our size 8+, that there is no motivation to be concerned, interested or attentive....We had to ask for additional rounds of beer, our check and then finally had to bring the check up to the bar to pay...she was just nowhere to be found for most of the 3hr brunch event...Yes, 3 hours...1 hr of which was due to waiting during the consistently poor service). Anyway, the food at Sunday brunch was adequate, but really not reaching the level of "good". Go for the beer and fries....But go beyond that at your own risk.

Great find

By DanC87 |

Stopped at the Malt House for a quick drink while my wife was shopping and was impressed by the selection of beers. The service was excellent and while the place was full, it was not as noisy as I'd have thought.

Popped in to get out the rain.

By Chris C |

We popped in the malt house to get out the rain and are so glad we did it's a very clean and nicely set out bar and staff are good and very clued up on the all the products that they sell we met the Bar man who's name was Paul. nice guy very friendly talked to us about the vast array of craft ale they have on and let us sample a few and then recommended a nice dim sum restaurant to go to in China town. Highly recommend you give it a go.

Solid

By Michael M |

Good food, nice atmosphere. Large selection of beers. The interior is especially eye catching. I would come back.

Good but expensive for the limited menu

By IEBO |

The place is nice and cozy. Classic American Pub more than a restourant. They have a good selection of beers and the Cajun burger is good but the options on the menu are limited. Place suggested more for young people than families. Price was not too cheap considered the standard food.

excellent bar

By Jameshel |

excellent bar, good happy hour, good atmosphere. good choice of drinks. friendly service. doesnt look much from the outside but inside is impressive

Dinner - close to hotel

By Linda S |

This was across the street from our hotel, and were pleasantly surprised on how tasty the food was and the atmosphere was good, without being "in your face bar."

Just a bar, but the service was great!

By Laken F |

The bar food was good and the service was good, however the food was just bar food and the cheese on my nachos wasn't really melted.

Old world charm

By Sonja P |

What a gem. We walked into this restaurant as it looked warm and welcoming from the bitter cold February weather. And how surprised we were. The staff helped immediately. The waitress explained the house brew bear and was helpful in choosing an excellent bear. The food were great and we wished we could have more and more. This was a great experience and well worth a visit.

A+ Customer Service

By AnnieC0524 |

It's all about the guest here - excellent food and service! I called ahead to order lunch for a group who was under a time constraint and they accommodated!

Great happy hour specials in the lower East Village

By Nicholas K |

Have visited on multiple trips into NYC and return as the prices and food specials are great. The happy hour bar menu had a range of great snacks including oysters and sliders, as well as, selections from their cocktail menu at a discount. Stylish decor and friendly ambiance make this place a definite go to.

The vibe is the thing here but there's more

By dfoote13 |

This was a Saturday lunch in the neighborhood and lo and behold the place was packed and jumpin'. Sorry reservations only we were told by the pleasant maitre'd with the Irish accent. I said, well this is our neighborhood and we've never been, my wife is disabled...but could there be a spot at the bar? He went out of his way to accommodate us there and the journey began. One of us had braised short rib and poached eggs on a bed of polenta, the other fried chicken breast and waffle club. Food was solid B mainly because the short rib was a tad too dry...and this from my companion who is a former syndicated restaurant critic for Scripps Newspapers. However the bartender, another young and exuberant Irishman was full of personality and made everything just right. Note: this is a serious bourbon joint. Maybe 200 choices including Pappy Van Winkle 15 yr @$250 a shot. We are coming back to sample the larger dinner menu and one of those bourbon.

Tasty food In a new venue

By thefunfive |

Had a really good night. Party of 7. Accommodated upstairs and had terrific service and great food. The loaded nachos and fish tacos were a real hit. The craft beer was good and the choice of a NZ sav Blanc went down well. It looks to be a nice new environment with dark lighting and a substantial bar. Good venue and great service. Highly recommended.

THE Burger 🍔!!!

Just the most amazing Burger ever! Love the whole thing from presentation to how it tasted!! A also had a local IPA which made things great! My wife had a salmon burger which was exquisite and unique which she also loved

An ok place for a late dinner

By 17wandalust46 |

This is an ok place for dinner on a very cold night. We were there on a Friday. The music was quite loud, and was rap- which I find an odd choice for a bar/restaurant. He had a burger which was ok-as were the fries. My nachos were beautifully presented-and better than average- the jalapeños certainly added a pop- but I also asked for grilled chicken on top, and guacamole. The tables for two are tiny- though we are regulars into the city-there are many other places to try before we return here.

Manhattan Style

By Luca T |

I had a burger and a IPA at the bar and everything was very good. Great style and good people around. The barman is very professional but friendly at the same time, great!

We stopped by on our way to

By Gary F |

We stopped by on our way to go explore. It’s very close to the Fulton Station. We had the Cajun Chicken sliders along with a cream ale and a beignet to top things off. We stopped in for an early lunch at noon and there was no wait but it filled up fast after we got in. Loved the architecture of the place with the steel beams and rivets. We were pleasantly pleased with the food and ambiance and had great service. We may stop in another time before we leave. I would recommend the place.

Great Choice

By Smew W |

Great Choice of nice local craft Beer. Very friendly and competent staff. Great atmosphere. Definately returning!

Regular stop

By Brian S |

I have dined here about once a week since December since I stay across the street. Favorite is the ribeye sandwich Wings are good. The burger is another recommendation. Oh. And try the fried pickles. Better than most places. Beer selection is outstanding and spirits are to match.

Great website, if you like fairytales

By Peter B |

I booked a table at this restaurant based on their website showing a varied menu and happy hour prices on some food and drinks from 4-11pm on Saturday and Sunday. When we arrived, we were given a 'holiday menu' with a very limited choice of meals and no happy hour prices, despite being 7pm on Saturday night. The waiter agreed that it wasn't good and said that the staff had discussed changing the website. After the meal and not being asked if we wanted a drink or dessert, I expressed my displeasure to the manager about the incorrect information on the website. He said that they couldn't change the website because the 'Web guy' was away. It's not like July 4 doesn't happen every year. If they could decide the 'holiday menu' would be on for 5 days, surely they could make plans for the information on the website to be correct. In the end, the manager agreed with everything I said and apologised, I accepted the apology and left without leaving the recommended 20-25% tip.

Try the drink The Maestro at this fun spot in the Financial District - you will not be disappointed!

By Carolyn R |

We discovered this place by doing a Yelp search, and then we realized it was literally across the street from our hotel. We went there late on a weeknight, and it was alive. Coming from Seattle, to have a place on a Tuesday serving dinner after 10 was mind-blowing! Cool vibe, great cocktail list (the drinks are named after Beastie Boys songs) and a small, but appealing menu. The short ribs were tender and juicy, and the chopped salad was just the right amount of tangy and spicy. We liked this place so much we brought our sons a couple of nights later. They give the wings five stars! If you are staying in the Financial District like we were, then this place is a great spot for dinner or late night drinks. Great food and great vibe.

Malt House

By nlitli |

Good food and drinks, very good service. One of the best hamburguers and i dont usually order it. Location is kind of hidden only a couple of blocks from the freedom tower.

Great Place

By JFSD |

I had a mid week lunch here, staff was great, food was very well prepared, came quickly and was delicious. Although I did not have any beer there was a wide variety of unusual beers. I will return.

Classic American Fare

By Sarah W |

We just happened to walk by and thought the place looked nice indoors. We all got burgers and club sandwiches - can't get any more American than that!

Not good for groups!

By GardenGal600 |

We were there with a very large group that had a reservation. They were not prepared for the size of the group (24 people). Some people didn’t get there food until 45 minutes after the others had finished! It was very crowded – so maybe we just had a bad experience – it must be popular for smaller groups.

Decent option in the Financial District

By Cusetravellady |

We stayed across the street at the Residence Inn. It was raining pretty hard so we chose the closet place for dinner. The Malt House is a beautiful looking place with tall ceiling and windows. The bar is very large and there are several areas for dining. The lighting is very attractive but too dim for older eyes to read the menu. It has a nice menu. We enjoyed the burgers, the thick onion rings, and the truffled fries- all delicious. The house salad was however very disappointing due to the terrible tomatoes. The service was friendly but very inexperienced. Overal, a decent dinner.

Great service and food

By Ian R |

Visited the Malthouse post a busy session in Century 21 nearby, for a spot of lunch. Our host Emmanuel made us feel very welcome, great food and the recommended a great IPA to me which was worth every cent. Great stop off in downtown Manhattan and very friendly staff.

Good place for after-work happy hours

By Namrata M |

My office is a 7 minute walk from this place so we invariably end up here for happy hours. The service is decent but could improve. It's slow and I get that it's crowded around happy hours but then they should staff up! The moscow mule here is good. The food is not so bad either. All in all, it's a nice place to grab a few drinks and unwind after a work day/week.

Great drinks and food

By stevebintley |

It doesn’t look much from the outside but we could have easily spent an entire afternoon in here. With an endless amount of beers and other drink options available it’s ideal for anyone who likes to try out new flavours. Even better was that the staff were knowledgeable about the drinks and able to recommend styles. Both the bottled beers and cocktails were served in jam jars which was a nice touch. The exposed brickwork interior gave a nice feel and there’s plenty of larger tables available if you want to eat off the decent menu too. Food was served quickly and it was an amazing lunch. The savoury waffle with chicken and bacon was delicious as well as being really filling. The mac and cheese was really creamy and large as well, it’s just a shame they weren’t able to provide any garlic bread as a side! Throughout the meal the staff remained attentive and quickly refilled drinks when needed. I’d love to return here. It’s certainly a beer lovers paradise but fortunately the food lived up to the same high standard!

Burger good - rest not so good

By SweetPea |

I was staying at the hotel across the street and wanted a quick dinner. The place was very busy - primarily at the bar - which made it really loud inside. I was seated in their small dining section and ordered the burger with salad for dinner. The burger itself was good - but I didn't enjoy the salad that came with it. Service was slow because it was pretty busy and overall it just wasn't a great experience.

Great brunch!

By cksrp |

Good beer selection. The house smoked turkey BLT was delicious. Service was really friendly as well.

Great Beers, Bad Food

By Sweets786 |

I like to come here after work as it's near the subway on my way home. They have a great beer selection but the food leaves a lot to be desired. The buttermilk fried chicken is popcorn chicken and very dry. The bison sliders are ok but leave a weird after taste. The rosemary fries are good but very oily. Have yet to find my go to snack, but a good place to grab a beer or two, not a place to spend the whole night

Great Bar NYC Malt house

By Paul Walsh |

Recent trip to NYC we came across The Malt house. We’d just been down at Ground zero museum and were looking for somewhere to eat n drink late afternoon. Service was prompt. Great atmosphere about the place. Busy bar on a Friday with good music in background. Our food and beer arrived promptly.portion size was plentyful. We stayed for a few hours. Our bill was reasonable. Would certainly recommend it.

Good beer and burger.

By Gleb O |

Got a good craft beer and burger there. Service was good and food was good too. I would say it is pretty descent but not the best I tried in my life.

Enjoy “A Little Bit Lunch” Menu!

By Francis K |

Good atmosphere seems like a pub, nice plates, sandwichs are awesome and flavourous, nice Beer as well. But be carefull, because menu can change depending on time. After 4 o’clock, menu changes. It’s a good ideia in neighborhood!! Recommended!

The Malt House Cacophany

By JamesJasper |

The food at The Malt House in the financial district of NYC (the location on Maiden Lane) is tasty and served in generous portions. Servers are pleasant, and they and the kitchen staff really hustle, so orders are expeditiously delivered. I also like the design of the place. The noise level in the restaurant is unbearable, however. It was impossible to hear anyone or them you, unless you speak right in each other's ears and yell. The bar was packed at 7:00 p.m., although tables in the restaurant part of pub were available. A DJ was spinning tunes but the music was almost drowned about by the overwhelmingly loud voices of people trying to converse.

Great lunch!

By L R |

Small menu but huge on taste. The few items offered all sounded fantastic so it was hard to decide. The jerk chicken taco's and rosemary fries were amazing. Great vibe, friendly staff, full bar selection offered. Will visit again.

Mixed feelings

By AEK9 |

This is a 2 part review... this place was across the street from our hotel so we went for drinks on a Friday night. Great Beer selection, music and bartenders. we had a blast. we returned 2 days later for brunch after reviewing the menu online and outside the door. we were seated and ordered bloody marys with full intention of ordering food. When the menu came it was completely different from the one online and the one posted outside the door on that day. When questioned we were told the menu has changed but they haven't updated it. Why would you post a menu outside to bring people in and then not serve 3 of the 8 things on it. We then stated that we wouldn't be staying. We were then forced into paying go the 2 drinks we ordered even tho we didn't get them yet but "they were already made" like no one else would be ordering a bloody mary! BTW the bloody marys wasnt that good. we had a much better one at 121 Fulton!

Good food and atmosphere

By pshajh |

I found The Malt House online when I was looking for a restaurant near the Federal Reserve. It is right down the street. We visited for lunch. I had the salmon po'boy. My husband had the fried chicken sandwich. The po'boy had a bit too much aioli but it was still good. Avocado, cucumbers, and salmon on good bread. Great sandwich and reasonably priced at $16. It came with fries that were cooked well. The fried chicken sandwich was cooked just right. The waitress did rush us out the door. I was still drinking water and she grabbed the water and my husband's water glass of the table when she took the check. We laughed and said she was telling us to 'get the hell out' which didn't make sense as they weren't that busy. Overall - the food was good and reasonable. We would go back.

Chicken Wings in Korean sauce!

By Miki CFB |

Went there with my husband for late dinner and i loved their chicken wings in sweet korean spicy sauce! This is actually good for dinner already and will satisfy your stomach even if you are very hungry. I think its about 8 pcs of chicken wings in that serving! Nice ambiance and great customer service even if it really gets crowded on a saturday night..

Great find in lower Manhattan

By Alfonso G |

Great recommendation from our front desk , right across the street from our hotel is this little place packed with good vibes , great kitchen and friendly staff. We enjoyed everything we tried , the service was attentive and not pushy and the music was fantastic. Must try if in the neighborhood.

Perfect Lunch Spot

By LuvDaSun222 |

After visiting the 9/11 memorial this was a short walk away tucked away on a side street. The burgers were fantastic. Everyone loved the fries. Great beer selections. Highly recommend. It was Friday at 1PM and it gets very crowded at that time.

Very Good Spot in the Financial District

By Joseph D |

Took my staff out for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by The Malt House. It's an understated place with bench tables and stools. The noise level can get loud, so if you want a place for quiet conversations this isn't it. The food was very good and had a decent enough menu that vegetarian and gluten free people can find something to eat. The Cheese Curds and Buttermilk Chicken Bites were very good and the the served them both with excellent sauces. My group had the Southern Style Buttermilk Fried Chicken Melt, Prime Ribeye Sandwich, Waugh House Blend Burger, Mizuna Salad with Salmon and Slow Braised Pork Shank and they all loved their choices. I had the Carnitas Street Tacos which were just ok. For desert we ordered the Beignets, which I knew was a mistake and it was. While they were ok, they were basically Dunkin Munchkins. Cafe Du Monde they were not. All in all a good place and reasonable prices.

GREAT FIND!

By Lindy031 |

We used the TA App to find a restaurant near us, as we were pressed for time! We found this and it was a great find! The food was fabulous! The atmosphere and burgers were both top notch! We enjoyed this experience as much as any restaurant in NYC!

Great place in Financial District

By Charles M |

Ate here twice while staying at a nearby hotel. We had late meals after a concert and trip to midtown. The service and food were both great and there is a large beer selection. Pricing is what is to be expected for an upscale pub in NYC. Although it is a pub, we had our middle school children and they were great with accommodating the kids. I highly recommend.

Great find

By Marco |

We stumbled past this bar after what seemed a marathon shopping session a well earned pint awaited. Very good selection of decent beers and bar staff whom were happy to explain there beers. What was going to be a quick drink turned into a 2 hour stay at the malt house. Very friendly bar and people didn’t eat here but food looked good and well presented

Big hit on first visit

By OnTravelsAgain |

We called by here late afternoon / early evening and the place was packed for happy hour. We had an appetiser and a few drinks, great value from the happy hour menu. It had a great atmosphere, the only slight negative was the service was a little haphazard. Overall a really pleasant experience.

Good selection of craft beers

By WanderingNotLost518 |

Stopped in for a late dinner on a weeknight while traveling for work. Busy spot but no wait and quick service at 8pm on a Wednesday. Food was decent but especially appreciated a good selection of craft beers. Always happy when I find a spot that offers dark beer choices other than Guinness!

Brunch

By gbagencies |

Great food, great beer, great staff! Really made our stay in nyc fantastic. Atmosphere good and everybody in the bar having a great time

Very good value for money

By Tiglat-Pileser 3 |

Delicious food, good Service and good cocktails (at happy hour 3:00-6:00 p.m. for $10). Really good value for money.

Delicious food after an exhausting day!

By eveliendv2016 |

We found this restaurant after an exhausting day in NYC. The food was SO delicious! I took the fried chicken and my husband had the ribs. The corn salad side was delicious, just as the mashed potatoes and chicken. I could not make this dish myself and I don't have that feeling very often :) would recommend to everyone!

Impromptu business lunch

By 999a42 |

I work down the street from this place and only just discovered it. It is an attractive location just off Broadway on Maiden Lane. When I entered with 10 people on a busy Thursday afternoon I assumed there would be a wait. Instead the manager was kind enough to open a private room for us called the Board Room. It is a lovely setting with a restored 19th century skylight, comfortable chairs, and a large mirror that becomes a TV. What followed was even more impressive. The service was incredible, with our waitress Meredith always there with drinks, guidance and an amazing personality. By the time we left we all felt like regulars. The food was delicious and the beer selection overwhelming in a good way. It is rare that I am this impressed with a place on the first visit. I recommend it highly. If you can get Meredith as your server I can guarantee a great experience.

Welcoming friendly bar

We popped in for lunch yessterday. Met with such a warm welcome and dazzling smile! Food was excellent and served quickly. We ate ay the bar and the server, she was so attentive qnd friendly. Highly recommend

Excellent Weekend Brunch

By Stephen W |

Nice brewpub with friendly bartender and relaxed atmosphere. I had the Shortrib Benedict served on polenta. Excellent. The “Maltmosa” (wheat beer, OJ, and champagne) was also delicious, and there is a bottomless option for some of the cocktails at brunch.

Excellent Brunch

By Jordan L |

Bottomless drinks for $20 and you can switch between the different drinks as much as you want. I got the Black Forest Benedict which was a great rendition on the classic dish Eggs Benedict. The food was excellent, service was fast, and drinks were strong. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and we will be back.

Better than Expected

By MartyBrian |

We jumped into. This bar for a quick afternoon snack. They did not disappoint. The cheese curds were light, crispy and creamy inside. Crab, artichoke and spinach dip was very good with a lot of crabmeat. The calamari wa decent although very large and chewy rings. The beer selecton was Ok Also. Pretty much met our needs.

very nice place with great atmosphere and good food

By moshe l |

visit the place twice across the street of my hotel, very nice brunch and dinner, food was great and service was fast.

Stumbled on this place purely by chance. Try the calamari, delicious. Nice casual environment. Well worth a visit.

Delicious!

Irish pub/ restaurant with friendly staff. Food was delicious and plentiful. Offers an extensive selection of beers as well.

A nice brunch/lunch place.

This is a very nice lunch/brunch place. The menu was not extensive, but it offered an interesting variety of foods. Nice atmosphere.

Tasty food and great craft beer in the Financial District

By newjerseyfamily |

We visited this establishment while visiting the Wall Street area. It was a little hard to find, and took us a trip back and forth on the street till we located it. Once inside, you'll find a very comfortable pub. Good seating on several levels and prices what I would expect for New York City. I had their craft brewed Wheat beer and it was excellent - had to have another glass. My husband tried the Maui Coconut Porter. Good selection of beer which won't disappoint. l had the Smoked Turkey BLT and it was really good, possibly the best BLT I ever had. My husband really enjoyed his Prime Ribeye sandwich. Appreciated that they offer salad or fries. My son enjoyed his burger, so much so he wished it was bigger. We finished off by sharing the beignets. I must tell you, as someone who has visited New Orleans area that these are not beignets, but they are good just the same served with chocolate sauce and a strawberry on the side. Would definitely recommend as a convenient, comfortable and just a nice place to have a meal.

Happy hour

By Mark D |

Came in after visiting some of the sites great happy hour a few different slider options and other starters wings and a like plenty of beers. Only complaint it was very hot asked the server to turn the heat down okay after this. Close to century 21 and the 9 11 memorial. Never had desert a bit expensive stopped at Dunkin’ Donuts on way to station.

Good Food!

By kevinrsmith24 |

First meal in NYC and it didn’t disappoint. The cheese curds were a family hit and our meals were delicious! Loud, yes. People were actually talking and interacting rather than surfing on their phones. Quite refreshing. You won’t be disappointed. Get in here!

Yumm

By N K |

Went looking for a casual place for lunch and walked into the Malt House. We had a very short wait and were escorted to a table in the basement. I will say the seating in the basement (backless hightop or low hard to reach the table with couches) was not the most comfortable. But once I bit into one of the best burgers I ever had I I never thought about the seating again! Wow was the burger good. Great season and flavor and the sweet potato fries were delicious. I give it a 4 instead of 5 due to the seating but food is 5 star!

Amazing food

By Cachet M |

I had the fried chicken and it was seasoned to perfection. It does have a little kick to it so if you not a fan of spicy food then I suggest you get something else. The only reason why I’m giving it 4 stars is because the ac was not working properly.

The Malt House Experience

By marhow2001 |

The Malt House on Maiden Lane is conveniently located directly across the street from the Residence Inn World Trade Center where we often stay while in Manhattan. So, we always take in a couple meals there post theater and enjoy it every time. The owners, Darren Shore and Eoin Foyle, bring their Irish hospitality to this venue, which only enhances the good food and extensive choice of brews, wine and spirits. We also appreciate the large bar and cavernous feel of the space which up at the Mezzanine stands at about 18 feet above the main floor with the original 1880’s Carnegie steel superstructure of the vintage building exposed. Very cool!

Excellent Brunch

By OlriTeam |

Excellent Burger🔝🔝 and lovely service it is a bit difficult to find it when walking on the street, but cozy and moden inside

Rustic

By prekteacher1214 |

The malt house is a rustic bar and restaurant. We came for a Saturday brunch/lunch. The menu is limited but has interesting choices. I had the short rib Benedict and my husband had the turkey BLT. Both were served quickly and were delicious. I especially loved the polenta combined with the short ribs!

Went for Happy Hour

By Dr_Julius_No |

Best Happy Hour Menu. Sliders, wings, oysters. Big, busy place. Great selection of beer. Fun place to hang out.

Hidden Gem!

By Graeme B |

We visited a couple of times during our recent stay in NY. The Malt House was directly across from our hotel, and is tucked away down Maiden Lane. The craft beer selection is amazing, but the highlight for us was eating here on our daughters 21st Birthday. We asked the team beforehand if they could help make it a bit special, and they didn't disappoint! We had a wonderful evening thanks to their generosity. Thank you so much! A hidden gem indeed! :)

Friendly atmosphere with great choice of beers & good, fresh food

By Karen P |

It was a miserable day when I was wandering the Financial District and this friendly place took me in before the official opening time. The choice of beers were excellent and I enjoyed the freshly made tacos. Thanks Malt House!

Amazing Gastropub!

By Alex W |

The atmosphere here is great for a lot of occasions, from just enjoying a beer with friends, to a business lunch or even a fun date. The service was amazing and I actually went back a second time in my three day business trip. I recommend ordering the sweet potato fries with the truffle toppings - apparently I was the first who ever requested this but it was definitely delicious.

Nearest bar to our Hotel - A little gem

By Chris B |

We used this bar every day (sometimes twice) during our 5 day stay. On our first occasion one of the staff member's was very rude when he thought we hadn't left him enough of a tip. He said "Whats wrong with service?" in an aggressive tone. We said nothing wrong with service, you did your job and here's a few dollars, he wanted 18% gratuity!! We considered not going back if that was the attitude, but as it was close to our hotel and it was a busy atmospheric bar and restaurant/bar food, we thought why not! I must say Brian was a really nice guy behind the bar. The food was excellent, great portions, burgers, salmon and so on. Its NYC and nowhere is cheap, so the bill at the end does get some real plussing up. Some of the waitress staff need a bit of a personality injection, but aside from that a great bar & food

Overpriced and underwhelmed

By wake15272 |

Very limited menu, very basic bar food. My crispy chicken sandwich for $21 was TINY, about 3” in diameter ( slightly bigger than a slider) and not at all tasty or crispy. An overwhelming raw garlic flavor from the ‘roasted garlic aioli’ made it almost inedible. The fries were good, but $2 extra for a 1/2 teaspoon of coarse parm strings on top was a ripoff, even for NYC standards. My friend disliked her burger (also slider size) and another was underwhelmed by the small grain bowl.

PATRON BEWARE ! ! ! Check & Demand A Copy of Your Bill ! ! !

By poppy2013 |

! A family member attended an Alumni Event. At the end of the night he asked for the bill and was told it was "closed out" He asked for a copy and they refused to give it to him. Credit card bill arrived and there was a $70 overcharge. Restaurant sent "signed" bill - signature NOTHING like customer's. Currently charge is in dispute with credit card company.

Young Crowd. Fun Place.

By JorieJoy |

We ran into this place just off of Broadway in Lower Manhattan. There were many choices in beer and the menu provided some nice options in sandwiches. We enjoyed the chicken waffle sandwich. The place was filled at lunchtime on a Saturday with mostly young folks. Although as Baby Boomers, we enjoyed the atmosphere as well. The seating was mostly at the bar or on shorter stools around small table.

Good burgers, nice beer selection.

By Pierre B |

The Malt House is a good place to go in The Financial District, if you’re looking for a good burger with good beer served next to it. Staff is really cool and keen on making your visit good.

Great brunch place

By Etepay |

Some friends and I had brunch here today. The staff was friendly and helpful and the decor was great. The food was amazing and the bottomless cocktails option was well worth the money. The cocktails made our friends brunch even better. Great choice and close to everything.

Terrible service

By Anita m |

The food was ok but the service was terrible. I ordered salad with my food and I got fries, it took so long for them to correct my order that my son finished his food while I didn’t have my food yet! There was no utensil and napkin on the table. I asked a server to bring some! After I finished my sandwich I got the utensils to eat my salad.

Nice Bar and Restaurant

By Joanna C |

This was right across the street from our hotel and we ended up visiting twice. Food is good - we loved the rosemary fries and service is prompt and friendly. Definitely worth visiting during their happy hour and we thought the prices were good for New York.

GREAT FOOD!

By Gabby2u2 |

We were staying at the Residence Inn across the street and someone at the hotel recommended The Malt House to us. So glad they did as my hubby and I had a delicious dinner. I ordered the Burger and it was probably THE BEST burger I have ever had. My husband ordered the Roasted Chicken which came with mashed potatoes and spinach. There was nothing left on our plates at the end of the meal. I also liked that the waitress left a pitcher of water at our table. While the food and waitstaff were excellent, we felt the music was too loud and the restaurant was a little dark. Other people might like that, we didn't. I like to talk to the person I'm with and to see the food I'm about to eat. We had to show proof of vaccination before entering the restaurant.

Brunch

By Brittney B |

Fantastic experience! Food was delicious and unlimited brunch cocktails were only $20. The portions were large and food was great. Would fully recommend!!!

YUM!

By 529upton |

We did a quick search for restaurants with good reviews walking distance from our hotel. Found this spot and gave it a try.. so glad we did. We started with the Marco Nacho - the pickled jalapenos kicked the flavor up without kicking up the heat, We all enjoyed our main courses; American Tavern Burger (cooked exactly how requested), Mahi Mahi Tacos, and Pan Roasted Chicken. The service was fantastic.

Drinks and conversation

By Nick P |

We stopped in for drinks at this trendy location. The staff were too notch. You do need to show proof of vaccination to get in, which was actually a great way to show support. Their top shelf is truly top shelf. Great beer selection.

Service is horrible.

By tjmcmahon10 |

We made reservations for this place and it was beyond packed yet they kept seating people at the bar well after we arrived. Our reservations were for 130...it’s 155pm now and we still haven’t received drinks...not even water. I would not recommend.

Food Great Young staff not so great

By Susan L |

The food at The Malt House was great and the price was reasonable. The owner might want to speak with his young waitresses as they were too busy gossiping and on their cellphones to take care of customers. Everyone that I was seated near had to call their attention. They stood at the register and did not pay attention to their duties. Poor customer service.

Beer and Steak

By Oliver H |

A very loud place, kind of modern. However, not as stylish as the pictures on the website promise to be. Beer menu is quite large, the Stout I tried was very good. Cowboy Rib Eye perfectly cooked, but the quality and taste of the beef was only average. However quite in line with the price. The evening was ok, but there are definitely other places around I'll try first before going back.

Great for happy hour

By tml8882 |

This three level spacious restaurant & bar is great ! Music was just right, happy hour drinks were great & the wait staff minus one was pretty good! Happy Hour was from 4-6 (should be until 7) and the MH Mule was tasty ! Will be back again for sure.

Very nice place to hangout

By Basav S |

Very good place to spend evenings..! Good service. Crowded place , so better book your table if going in group..

Quick family trip

By Hilary A |

My husband loves craft beer and is always looking for local. This was a great find. Staff was knowledgeable with beer menu. My family loves gastro pub fare. The sauce served with the fries was delicious. I had the smoked turkey BLT awesome. Husband had the pork belly tacos yum! Son had Korean style chicken wings which he enjoyed, I wanted just a little more flavor but I only had a taste. Could have easily parked ourselves there for hours but had to keep exploring NYC.

Fun eatery

By HipHop1 |

Quick, clean and tasty restaurant in the heart of shopping, WTC to have lunch. The crab cakes and watermelon salad are good. It gets busy noon to 1 with business people but service is fast so worth the trip.

Really good ...

By LRaven |

As long as you don't want to talk to your dinner companion. The service and my dinner were really good. I had the roast chicken which is normally boring but this time it was a winner as were the mashed potatoes. It was very loud so if you are looking for a quiet spot and dinner conversation go somewhere else. I was here on business and staying across the street so it was perfect for my purposes. And while I didn't indulge the dessert menu actually looked tempting.

Loud but tasty!

By Peetjeccl |

We may have arrived just a little early, just after office hours. Loud music, DJ at the booth, light atmosphere. Not immediately what you expect around 7.30 pm (European norm!). But the food was superb as was the extremely friendly service! Very nice hip resto!

Walking distance from 911 Memorial

By 8675309bergman |

We did not want to eat at a deli after visiting the memorial so we wanted something a bit more upscale. My son ordered classic wings and they were a bit spicy for him. I had the pork sliders - I would probably order something else next time. The regular fries were just ok. The service was very good. I would suggest visiting if beer is your thing and secondarily you want food.

Great Pub

By irishbazz |

We were staying just across the street in the Marriott and this became our local for the stay. Good charming interior with a great selection of food and the staff were very attentive, good to meet the the Irish barmaid! They also brew their own beers which were of a good quality.
