I was under the impression this was an Irish Pub - it’s more of a bar seen. Pleasant waitress, good food, so-so ambiance. I would return for drinks at the bar with the very talented bar tenders. Thank you for the delicious peach shots before dinner - a nice surprise!

Stopped here on the way back to our hotel and so pleased we stumbled across this fab Irish bar. Prices are great. Staff super friendly and cocktails lovely highly recommend the mean fiddler cocktail.

But an honest pint and good music in theater district?!? Go to place after a show along w another I shall soon review.

Dropped in on our first day for some food, food was so tasty as were the drinks😊. Emma the barmaid was very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back.

The food was delicious. The service was excellent. Both mine and my mums food was quick and very well resented. Nothing was too much trouble!! No complaints at all! Thank you very much!

We stopped here for lunch because we wanted something close to the Walter Kerr Theater. What a delightful surprise. It was a nice Irish Bar with a wonderful wait staff that spoke with Irish accents. I had the best hamburger that I have had in a very long time. I loved it.

Right in the thick of theater district. Pub atmosphere, staff was super friendly. Lots of memorabilia on the walls. We only had beers but place was cranking.

Was looking forward to some good Irish food. Ordered Bangers and Mash. Potatoes were cold so I asked them to please just microwave the plate. Wow, that was a mistake. Came back and sausage was BURNT, like black. Ruined what should have been a great experience. Extremely dark in there also. Had to use the candle to read the menu. Short staffed with only 1 server and a couple back up people.

Awful. Don’t bother. We went here around 10 years ago and enjoyed it then. Thought we’d go back. Staff were so rude especially door staff. The bar is dark noisy with no atmosphere. There are so many better places to go! Go there!

Only 21 allowed inside establishment which we did not know until we arrived to our reservation. Sat out on street covered area which was fine. Food choices were spins on basic pub food - found it to be fun, different and interesting. Food very good, and we had a great server.

I'd heard a lot about this bar before I came to New York, been in twice this week and lived it up to it's reputation, great food, good beer prices and great atmosphere and special shout to Michelle behind the bar, totally recomended

enjoyed a great meal with 3 of my brothers, wives and children (aged between 17 and 24) and several enjoyable evening drinks with great music as well

So happy we found this little gem. We popped in for a happy hour drink between stops and ended up making it our must stop place for the rest of our trip. Amazing friendly atmosphere, with really welcoming staff. Debbie in particular was fantastic even remembering what we had for drink on the second visit . After a couple of visits drinking and listening to the fantastic live band we decided to try the food . All I can say is we wish we tried it sooner. The philli cheese steak spring rolls are to die for and the curry chips omg. can’t wait to go back there next year when we are back in New York . Can’t recommend the place enough. Thank you for making us feel so welcome Danny and Tania. East Sussex England

Great pub! We have been in NY for a week and this has become our local! Great food even better service. Debby the bartender is amazing!

They took excellent care of us. In a hurry and they were efficient, pleasant and put amazing food before us. Thanks

Popped in here after a recommendation from a friend, I wasn’t disappointed. Everyone so friendly and helpful and vert welcoming. We had food and drinks with out 3 children (15, 15, 17), food was beautiful, atmosphere amazing. Great food at reasonable prices. Big thank you to everyone who served us, didn’t get everyone’s name but Sorsha with her helpful personality and beautiful smile we will always remember. Keep up the great work everyone. See you soon.

I made a reservation for two for 4:45pm. I picked this place not because I was familiar with it, but because it was near our theater and it had chicken tenders and wine on the menu (win for mom and daughter). We arrived early for our reservation, had our vaccination cards checked at the door, and were advised to proceed to the hostess station to see if could be seated. Unfortunately there was no table available for me and my 13 year old daughter at that time. We were advised to exit the restaurant, and keep checking back. We checked back once more, no luck, then did not return until our reservation time. At this time, we were informed by the vaccine checker that no minors were allowed inside the restaurant. Mind you, she had been inside the restaurant twice within the last hour. Also mind you, there were no restrictions when I made the reservation. Do vaccine guy speaks to hostess (same hostess from the beginning) who says “is she 21?” Pointing to my thirteen year old daughter. She’s thirteen was my reply. “You can sit outside but she can’t come in” was her response. Then she says if I knew that I could’ve seated you from the beginning “giggle giggle”. This is just the beginning. Our waitress either had bilateral Bell’s palsy or just had a death in her family, which is why I tipped her 50%. Either that or the 3 glasses of Cabernet. I know we are all overworked and underpaid. I KNOW IT! But this place sucked for me and my daughter this past Saturday. It might be great for other people in other situations. Sucked for us. Be better. Be nicer. Please.

Lets start with the positive; the servers could not have been nicer and more accomidating. My wifes Mac and Cheese was very good while my burger was a dissappointment. I had a bacon cheeseburger (ordered medium), burger and bacon undercooked, one slim slice of cheese and McDonalds like french fries. Doubtful return.

It's pub food. It's good. The burger was excellent. Small plate items were well done. The Chilli works and chips was a hit. We thought the Steak Sandwich was excellent. There's good value here too... It's not outrageous for NYC.... The service was excellent. Our server was prompt, pleasant, clear and very attentive. We were pleased and we'll be back.

Visited New York for 5 days and so glad we found this place. We thought being in time square everything would have been super expensive but the bar did Happy hour 12-8pm I think with lots of beers for $5. We got food here a few times and we both really enjoyed it. Debbie behind the bar was unreal. Fantastic service and she seemed to know everyone’s name. Would highly recommend this bar and I hope we get to come back some day :)

This place was recommended by Spencer at the W hotel, definately a home run!! We met friends here visiting from Boston and just loved the place. Great Irish atmosphere, drinks and food! I had the fish and chips; a nice portion with flakey fish cooked perfectly. Friend had a chicken pot pie; out of this world! Hannah was our server; she was so pleasant and has a wonderful Irish accent. Not 100% sure on the accent after a few Black and Tan's but still a nice person! We'll be back soon! By the way, I'm using my friends phone app to post this review. Her name is Chris; my name is Mike!! Mike Milner from Ossining NY

This was the first pub we visisted when we arrived in New York (for a week’s vacation)...this is now our local. Try the Buffalo Chicken Spring rolls....uhmmmmm, what?? AMAZING! Spent a LOT of time trying to ‘split the E’ on Guinness after Guinness. (Ask Michelle for the rules.) Lots of TVs showing all the sports, even the Canadian ones we wanted to watch. Debbie is like a ninja, you don’t even know you’ve finished your drink, and the next one is already there. Awesome place!

We stumbled on this place after a long day of sight seeing, exhausted and only wanting a quick pint, we ended up staying for nearly 4 hours . The atmosphere was very chilled, there was live music from an old Irish chap who took requests and the bar staff were very nice. It was snowing like crazy outside and this was the perfect place to be holed up! Prices are pretty high but you have to remember this is around Times Square so you really are paying the benchmark for this area.

The Mean Fiddler was easily the best Irish bar we found on our trip to NYC, the staff were very friendly and the place had a great atmosphere, we really enjoyed the experience, definitely can recommend

We are a party of four, and ate here after not long arriving in NYC, we were very tired after a long flight, food was good, we all ordered different meals, arrived quickly and hot, good music, was loud in case anyone is noise sensitive. Server was very friendly and helpful. Second visit again after busy day, while waiting to be seated a server dropped a small dish of tomato sauce on the floor which splashed up on me, she didn’t seem to be bothered, more concerned about herself, I had to ask for some paper napkins, I assume either the manager or someone more senior rushed over, was very apologetic, could not have been more helpful, seated us and gave us a free round of drinks, it was only small amount, and I appreciated the gesture of drinks Id and vaccination passport checked on arrival

Looking for a bar, just for a beer etc and found a really friendly fair priced place at the Mean Fiddler. Happy hour for most of the day, probably like other bars), great staff and locals who like a chat. Arsenal game was on the screens, but can't hold that against the place. Went back today for lunch, cod and chips for my better half and a really good, tasty, steak sandwich for myself. May have to go back tomorrow. If you are in NYC, around Times square....do yourself a favour couple of streets down and two blocks across....Bingo, have fun. Not been here at night, but apparently, it rocks!

Called in for drinks on the walk home, great atmosphere, happy friendly attentive staff. Beer was cold. Reasonable prices too.

We stopped for dinner before seeing a show. The fish tacos were excellent! The happy hour is generous - lasts until 8!

Great craic here cant fault it. The Dublin (pearse st 😊) barman Mark made our night so funny and welcoming.drink very reasonable prices compared to most places in New York. Will defo be back the next I get to visit New York.

Waitress was Irish which made it extra authentic but more importantly she was friendly and attentive to customers. Music was live and pleasing with a gentleman playing Irish tunes including taking any requests. I ordered a sandwich and my spouse a wrap. Both were very good. It's a bit dark in there with the main lighting coming from the many TVs playing sports. They had a mlb, nfl, nba, hockey and golf going on different screens. Nice off broadway and out of the crowds (and chains) NY place to eat.

Stopped in for lunch and both food and service was amazing! We were able to be seated right away and food came out pretty fast. I would definitely recommend the Fish and Chips and the Fish Tacos.

Stopped in for dinner before our show on 48th St. Spent the day walking the city, and these authentic dishes hit the spot! We had the shepherds’ pie, bangers and mash, and Mac-n-cheese. Finished the meal with the NY cheesecake. Everything was delicious! Dervla gave us great service - sweet, polite, and efficient. All around great meal!

My bartender Georgia was a pleasant surprise for a New York Bar. Attentive, friendly and welcoming! I'm big on customer service so when I get some that's good I really appreciate it and Georgia was/ is phenomenal!!! Ask for her and tell her King sent ya!!!!

My husband and I stopped in for a quick dinner before a show. The food was great! Typical Irish bar setting - nothing fancy - excellent service- friendly and attentive. Very reasonable prices. I’d highly recommend for good pub food and drinks.

Great Pub very friendly staff near Tkts and all Broadway shows. Watch TV sports while waiting to go to see a show or after

This is more like a sports bar than anything else, with many TVs and lots of noise. But the part of the bar where most of the rowdy folks are is separated from the tables, and if you can stand the noise, the food is worth it. We had a few kinds of burgers and salads, there are sufficient beer selections, and of course Irish whiskey. The fries are great, as are the burgers and the sauces on top of them. We were eating before going to a show, and taking our time it took under 45 minutes.

Went for something to eat and a few drinks, sat at the bar, great atmosphere and the food was amazing, the service was excellent, our barman Tommy was so attentive and we had a great laugh, would definitely visit again on our next trip to NY.

Great place for lunch before a show. Pot pie was excellent and so were burgers. Fries had the right amount of salt and were crisp. Lots of televisions so you can catch the game as well.

We found this place by chance last year. It’s a great pub. Lovely cooked food. Everything is recommended on the menu..Live music some nights. It’s a friendly place. This was one of the first places we visited as soon as we arrived in the city. Great bar staff who are attentive and friendly..AND ..who put the Wolves match on for us. ⚽️..Great air con 🤣🤣.. as it’s so hot out there today. We’ll be back at some point while we’re here for the next week.

Venue and Food was lovely and our waitress couldn't have been nicer, but our first visit was ruined by the entertainer voicing support for republican terrorists

Myself and my two friends visited here on our second day in NYC. We enjoyed a generous meal (portion size was great!) and enjoyed a few delicious cocktails. The atmosphere in here was brilliant as well as the location. We were served by Aisleigh who was amazing, so friendly and made our experience here so enjoyable that we returned the following day! As this was our first time in NYC, Aisleigh went above and beyond her call of duty and gave us so much advice for touring the city as well as providing a great laugh which made us feel at home. You only get one chance to make a first impression and Aisleigh is certainly an A1 representative for The Mean Fiddler. We cannot wait to return!

We found this bar on our 3rd day in New York and returned on out 4th and 5th What a great place. Staff were amazing especially Louisa who looked after us. All were really Friendly, chatty and efficient. Music was great, food nice (only had bar snack) but great. Met the owners on our last day although we didn’t know that at first 😃. He then bought us a drink Highly recommend a visit if your in New York

Gotta give it to Shane the bar tender!!! AMAZING DUDE! This guy made sure we were good every second we were at the bar.!! Hands down amazing customer service. I’d definitely recommend this place for boozy brunch! Ask for Shane! We loved Shane as he poured many different and phenomenal drinks while we enjoyed the music.

So it’s a beautiful bar to get a drink or grab a snack. but the music is ALWAYS soo dry, they notorious for playing 20+ year old hits (not evergreens) and of course why prepare a update club version, no they play the originals version. the crowd 100% office ppl and i’m sorry but as a man the thing that is the biggest red flag is there dress cod policy which literally says THE OWNER HATE MAN. I don’t know who hurt you but if you hate us soooo d*** much just make gurl only bar 👍🏼 yeah get your prom attire ready, because if they target you they enforced, the strongest dress code🤦🏽♀️

Came here for drinks and food before a Broadway show. Dress seemed to range from shorts and T-shirt to Broadway show attire. Nacho fries were awesome. Pepperoni flatbread was better than John’s Pizza a few blocks over (I was told John’s had the best slice in NY). Strawberry Delight was strong and tasty. The minty drink was great (forgot name but only had three ingredients). The show started at 8, so we left as the musical act was setting up. Service was awesome, and all staff was friendly. The guy from the kitchen who cleared our table was even nice and not your usual disgruntled staff.

Had an amazing time going there with my girlfriend for the first time. The food and music were great, and the bartenders are awesome!! Next time you visit there, make sure you ask for Shawna (or Shauna, don't know how it's spelled), she was very nice and accommodating!

The Mean Fiddler at 47th Street just off Eighth Avenue is a fun Irish Pub. It is mostly a tourist destination (with the occasional New Yorker showing up) in the heart of the theatre district and has charming and hip singers performing nightly. It's loud and clearly not a place for quiet conversation. It has good Pub Grub and best of all, they pour a terrific pint of draught Guinness.

The food was fantastic and they had gluten free options. Would highly recommend and come again next time we are in the area.

Good food and an extensive menu with wholesome food, drink was pricey and sloppy no head and no life to pints, great spot for a meet up and a session, but no drinks returned from the barstaff despite drinking there all evening and tipping well.

Don't go to this place! I would like to specify that you do not pay entry to this "pub". At about 1.30am the "manager" of this "pub" approached telling us that we would have to drink to stay there, when my friends and I had already spent 70 $ in drinks .. Probably some bartenders didn't do their job well and it was a misunderstanding, but the point is that the "manager" was not able to recover the situation that had gotten out of hand, and instead of sitting down he insulted us and ruined our evening. So, disgusting and degrading service and certainly not cheap.

What a massive disappointment! Having read rave review's, just shows find out yourselves! The lady at the door appeared welcoming and very professional. The Bar Tender appeared with two unsolicited glasses of water, why in mid winter? She could advise on a better table either! Maybe she’s not needed? Drinks ordered and attempted conversations with Bar Tender unsuccessful! Beer came and waited 20 minutes to say we want to order food. “Oh you want the check?” Nope then when try to tell bar tender what was happening she said! Hey I’m talking here! Server appeared lethargic very uncommunicative and eventually brought and had food. Chicken Tenders are really south fried chicken and the smashed cheese sandwich came to ground with oozing fat at the boom! A ray of light came when a server appeared, starting her shift , who was quite brilliantly professional. Very disappointed and maybe the bar tender should stick to talking to their Friends as opposed to real customers! All in all a big fail on expectations! The servers need a good rocket!

This restaurant/bar/night club was sort of our go-to bar in NYC while we were there. Drinks were not priced to bad ($12.00) for Capitan Morgan and Coke ($24.00) at a bar down the street. This place was a lot of fun..and was packed with lots of people dancing and letting loose. They have Karaoke in the downstairs on Friday nights.

No service! Orderd 2 Long Island Ice Tea. And got 2 drinks almost without any alkohol! Not good at all! Dont recomend this place. Sorry....

The dj did an excellent job, the music was on point. The drinks were strong! The bartenders were friendly, entertaining, and a ton of fun!!! The entire atmosphere was lit.

What a hidden gem. Great place, great food and the best people. Michelle and Deirdre will take care of you!

Visited the Mean Fiddler last night before the theatre, this bar is awesome, great atmosphere and didn't want to leave so soon but had tickets booked. I had the steak tacos with 2 pints of Blue Moon, tacos were very tasty, could have easily eaten 3 more !!.... partner got the triple fried chicken sandwich which was equally good !!... if you're in nyc, stop by and give this bar a try !!...

We visited NYC in December for a girls holiday. We arrived at our hotel and wanted something nice to eat but not to far from our hotel. We tot to the Mean Fiddler where we didn't have a reservation and within minutes we were seated by a lovely waitress Aisleigh. Although the restaurant was really really busy at the time Aisleigh made us feel really welcome and got our drinks straight away which was much appreciated after a long flight. Our waitress was really attentive and friendly which made a lovely stat to our girls holiday. Although she seemed to be serving quite a few tables we felt like she really could not have been nicer to us. The Mean Fiddler has a lovely vibe, really good food at a great price. This is the only restaurant we returned to during our trip to New York and the main reason we did was because of the lovely waitress Aisleigh all six of us agreed on this. The service we got here was honestly was the best service we had during our time in NYC. We will definitely be back when we return to New York and hope Aisleigh will be our waitress again. Please pass on our compliments to her.

The atmosphere is great! Stopped by on a rainy day and stay for hours! Great bartender named Aine and great drinks!

I went here for cocktails with my friends over the weekend, the vibes were great and our server Ciara was lovely and attentive!!

Don't go there when you're looking for a quiet romantic date, as it's very loud & crowded! However, even though it looks like a typical American bar from the outside, we had some amazing bar food there! Try the baked Mac&Cheese with truffle and garlic bread or the Philly Cheese Steak spring rolls! The people are friendly, helpful and fast, love it!

Service and food were OK. Fish and chips did leave something to be desired - fish dry, batter not very crisp.

This is our go to spot every time we are in New York ! Always first call 💃🏻! Lol sometimes we make it our last call too 😉🤦🏻♀️🥃🍺🍸 Michelle and Dierdre are the best ! Always on point with a smile and cocktail in hand for us 🤘🏻

This is a very loud, dark, wanna be Irish pub. Menu by qr code....if you are over 60....might be best to find another place

Went here with my family before seeing a show and the food and atmosphere was great. I would come again.

Visited NYC to celebrate my 21st birthday with my family & OMG this bar made my birthday the best ever! Fantastic atmosphere, amazing staff and even better beer! Couldn’t recommend enough, i will 100% be back. Don’t miss out on an enjoyable evening in this bar, which also sells cracking food! All the best to them :)

This is a noisy, dark drinking bar. Don't expect to hear the Clancy Brothers, and bring earplugs. Basically, if you over 50 and looking for a "snug" Irish pub, this is not your place.

Great spot I was visiting New York with my brother and daughter and called into the mean fiddler. Great grub Great cocktails from bar man Finn Deering !!

Stopped by with a friend on a Sunday and downed a few pints. Any whiskey or bourbon neat they pour minimal in their rocks glass, it should be at least one finger measurement. Music was loud and the selection played wasn’t my cup of tea. Didn’t eat any food but what I saw maybe next time. There were tourists galore inside and out in the street was packed with people getting out of the theater.

Fabulous atmosphere, great traditional food we had burger and shepherds pie. Reasonable price. If you like sports there is a different channel on each tv or even if you don’t like sport still a great evening. The only downside was it was cold where we were sat - would have moved but it was so busy.

Great food, staff and local music. Food variety was great, interested staff, and if you want to follow sports enough TVs to keep you up to date

If your coming to NYC you have to visit this Bar and Restaurant excellent atmosphere excellent staff and the food is the best in NYC something happening every night 😎🏴🏴🏴

Was in town for the the boat show. staying is hells kitchen. Ventured out to sample the are bars. Now I only had a few pints of beer so I cant speak for food. But beer was cold, and barkeep was very friendly. Menu looked good. The only real complaint that there was a DJ playing club music really loud, and tuff to have a conversation, not what a look for in an Irish Pub, however I will be back if I'm in the neighborhood.

Our family really enjoyed our meal here for our first night in NYC! The restaurant has great ambiance and the service is friendly and welcoming! The menu options are typical pub grub and authentic Irish dishes. Good size portions. We would definitely come back here again!!

Very bizarre evening! Beer was cold and good, local Price's, which, coming from Ireland is hefty enough. The music on the night was a lad in the guitar, and a very excellent lady on the fiddle. She was amazing, him not so. I can't believe that any person can sing regular Irish songs at 100 miles an hour. Still, nice clean place, friendly staff, good enough evening.

We called in to this bar after an Off Broadway show and was so glad we did. Although a quiet evening the atmosphere was great, staff were amazing and the drinks were delicious. I’d love to go here on a busy “party” night, it would be so much fun! We went later in our trip for some dinner and this was really tasty and perfectly cooked. Portion sizes were great and service was good. I bought a souvenir tee shirt for my husband at home and my sister in law was excited to buy some Tatos crisps (and the Irish barman was equally excited that someone knew what they were!) We did plan to visit more times but there just was too little time in which to fit this in, but The Mean Fiddler could easily become my “local” when in NYC. Highly recommended.

Went into the mean fiddler on recommendation and it did not disappoint the atmosphere the music the decor the staff all made for a really great experience in New York. Aisling a really nice young girl from Galway was so polite and helpful drinks where reasonably priced the bar was really clean and the food was amazing . Also if you like they sell packets of Tayto crisps for a little taste of Ireland. If you are looking for a good bar with great food I’d recommend the Mean Fiddler very much

The old gentleman at the door, was so disrespectful and not professional It was a Sunday night ST Patrick's day weekend, he didn’t let me i. With my friends cause they were Iris and I was not I couldn’t believe it He is at the door and his job it’s to make sure everything it’s ok not to be a disrespectful man at the door He is and african american old man with grey hair

Great atmosphere, great food, great service, and Guinness on tap!!! Heavenly. Good Shepherds Pie, lots of small plates too. Try the potato leek soup.

On our last of 4 nights in New York it was a Broadshow Show or the Mean Fiddler, so glad we chose the Mean Fiddler! What a great evening - food great, staff great and the musician/singer on Monday 16th Sept was amazing. Great showman and involved the whole audience in the entertainment. Loved it.

The worst experience I have ever had. My partner and I came here for a drink because this place had been recommended to us by so many people. We ordered 2 drinks and they never came. The owner then came down and told us we have to leave because one of the waitresses noticed us from another Irish bar the night before. When we told him thats impossible because we have just arrived in New york he told us sorry we have to take her word for it. I then asked what were we have supposed to have done and again we were told I don't have to disclose that information. He also wouldn't give us the name of this waitress. Just before this we had a conversion with a waitress from Longford and told her we were from belfast. This is the only thing that I can think of as to why we were asked to leave an Irish bar even tho we are Irish. I'm absolutely disgusted. Never go here. Outside looks like an Irish bar and inside is the opposite. Absolutely ruined my night in NYC disgusting

Less than one star. Absolutely awful. We ( 37 y.o, 72 y.o) had a table reserved and had been planning to come here for a long time — exactly one year ago— we wanted to celebrate the end of the Helloween this year. They simply didn’t let us in. Most likely because they decided we weren’t the kind of guests they wanted for this place. What a shame and disgrace. Thank you for ruining our evening and for reminding us not to waste a lot of money on this garbage. We went to another bar and had a wonderful night instead. Shame on this place — wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. If they also refuse to return the deposit, that’s double the disgrace.

We came in here for a drink after seeing it in passing earlier in our trip. It’s 21 and over so I had to show ID but that wasn’t an issue. Due to its location, everything was a little pricy for what you get, but it was half expected given how central they are. We visited quite early in the day so I can imagine it gets quite busy in the evenings but it was very quiet when we were there. Everyone we encountered were very friendly and although we didn’t eat, the food we saw taken out did look lovely.

We had a fantastic experience at the Mean Fiddler on a recent trip to NYC made all the better by Tommy Carpenter who took great care of us.

The food and service was great. We had the chicken wrap and house salad. Atmosphere is laid back and homey. Live music was a delight.

Good service and lots of sports to watch. Shepherds pie was amazing and well presented. Overall good dinner and drinks.

Good food great beer! Went on a Monday night, but still treated to live acoustic music, warm atmosphere, good food and a Guinness. The garlic, parsley, fries were excellent for a late evening snack. This is our second visit there in the past few months. Acoustically it is a noisy place. Not a good choice from prayer meetings or meditation :O)

Maybe the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. We are at the bar and the tender was the best lots of good recommendations and general info on the city.

Nice for a business dinner with a group from a conference. Casual dining, though a little loud even before the band started. SServingSmallemmenu menu than I would expect. menummmenu

We had just arrived in New York City, the hotel room wasn't ready so we looked for a lunch place - we were so lucky to find The Mean Fiddler! Melissa was our waitress and she was wonderful, very friendly and professional. We had a great lunch and some warming drinks (as it was very cold in NYC). Strongly suggest you stop in the next time you are in the city.

A big Irish welcome is awaiting anyone that visits. We loved it so much we returned 3 nights in a row. Big shout out for Aaron and the girl from Kilmessan (sorry can't recall your name) who were soooooo friendly and made our visit extra special, thank you! Also shout out to Brian and the other members of staff who were lovely. Thank you. Would highly recommend the Mean Fiddler for the atmosphere, couldn't find a better place.

Food was excellent. Service was very attentive and quick. Drinks were good amd prices seem reasonable. Atmosphere is expected from an Irish pub

Just happened to find this place on our way to a show. We had already done one nyc Irish pub. So didn’t want to do another. So glad we did. This place had a friendly atmosphere upon entering. Service was great. Food even better. Very clean. I observed the staff cleaning the window area above the bar. I had chicken Cesar salad and friend had buffalo sliders. Both were very good. A definite must do if venturing this way

We went for lunch. The setting was mostly tables around a bar. The food was pub food, and it was good, although nothing out of the ordinary. Like most food in New York City, it was overpriced for the portions. I had the mac and cheese, but it wasn't really delicious enough to finish. I would put the quality and taste of the food somewhere around Applebee's or TGIFriday's.

My wife and I had a lovely meal here whilst staying in New York with quality and value for money very good and staff very friendly

Claimed to be an Irish bar and they barred genuinely irish ppl from it. Absolutely dirty stinking nasty bar . When I heard it closes down I was like yeah karma sucks lmfao bye

We used this establishment of an evening for a last drink before retiring to our hotel just three doors away. We did eat there once, food was good portions were good and it was also hot. Reasonable prices

Sat at bar and was asked for credit card to put up. When bill came we bad cash. They also charged my credit card. They do not answer phone

Good food and efficient service, but the music was head-splittingly loud. Customers literally had to shout over it. It all made for an unpleasant experience. Not to be repeated.

Very welcoming and looked after immediately, Meabh was lovely, we got the sparker and horn as we were celebrating my daughter's 21st birthday! Bottomless drinks were great, we never had to ask for a drink constantly topped, good was amazing, I had the roadhouse burger, my daughter had the Veggie Mean burrito, would definitely recommend

saw a sign that said meat veg and gravy, after a week of burger, fries and piza. went in and wasnt disappointed , staff are wonderful, friendly, helpful delightful, pure gems best in new York. food was amazing and drinks, happy hour... its so good were still here!!!

WOW! What service and amazing spot! We had the best item at this pub. The staff, service and ambience was so good. The DJ was outstanding. A young crowed who knows all the lyrics to the 80’s and 90’s songs. The service was 10/10. So many ppl stopped by to see if our Sri is needed to be replenished and asked by a few ppl how our food was. If I’m NYC check this place out!!

First impressions were.... it looks an ok Irish bar. Don’t be fooled! We were very pleasantly surprised how good the quality of the food & service was. Three out of the four of us had burgers, one of each on the menu ! We all thought they were juicy and the various garnishes went very well with the beef. The fourth person had an enormous plate of Nachos that were covered in a variety of toppings. It took awhile to get through it all. Only one of us had room for a desert, and he chose the NY cheesecake. An obvious choice. We received. We couldn’t fault the service, and to be truthful with hindsight we wished we’d returned there to eat later in the week.

Visited here on our trip to NYC. The food was amazing and the service was absolutely unreal. Debbie from derry you were a delight. Thank you so much for your hospitality, can’t wait to come back!!

Stopped in for a quick bite before seeing ‘Come from Away’ it was great can’t wait to return. Barmaid on her game great service!

Family group of 5. Love Irish bars, wherever we go. Went to The Mean Fiddler based on TripAdvisor reviews, and somehow, think we entered an alternate Twilight Zone Mean Fiddler, as the evening we went, it had nothing in common with the reviews. The food was awful, all of it, period. Though thin, I am a good eater, hate to leave food on a plate, was not a problem here. I ordered the flat bread pizza. Worse than a frozen Red Baron, and Red Baron is the bottom of the frozen pizza pile! Yep, that was left uneaten. Another ordered the hamburger sliders. Charred hard pucks of mystery meat. So overcooked. The mac and cheese, not only smelled funny, looked funny. Coagulated is not a word you want associated with a plate of mac and cheese, but that was the best description of this dish. Wont elaborate further. Beer on tap was not warm, but was not cold either. The service was great, will say that. Friendly waitress, quick. The only aspect that was good about this place. With the thousands of places to grab a bite in the city, you should just walk on by this one.

Fun environment and great service! Definitely a must when visiting NYC! Aine was an awesome bartender!! Ring that bell!!

If one has visited an Irish pub in Ireland this is a far cry. Service is good but food is average. Music too loud

We had the most amazing time at this place. The food was incredible. The drinks were great quality. The atmosphere was brilliant. Our server was perfect, the best we had the whole time we were in New York, she was so attentive and friendly (sorry we didn’t get your name, a red headed girl - 11/16/22 around 7pm). Highly recommend!

Good Irish fare and nice cold Guinness......what could be better? I had the Bangers and Mash while my wife enjoyed the Shepherds pie. Both were very authentic. Service was good. All the TVs were on sports events, a good thing in our opinion.

Went there for dinner before a show. Was pretty good. Food was good. Atmosphere was good. I went during an Eagles playoff game. I am a Giants fan. Eagles fans loud understandably. They made me cheer for the Seahawks. I would come again if the Giants were playing or any home team.

Guess this pub is ideal for theatre goers because certainly the meal was over quickly. We both had the Chicken Pot Pie. Very tasty but lacked substance. Had a pint of Yeungling. Definitely had better. Server smiled but didn't even ask how we were enjoying Thanksgiving Day.

So I choose the main fiddler because of the great experience we had last time I was there. Walked in on a busy Sunday with 50 people in tow and I cannot get over the incredible service we received.Amanda and her partner jumped into action like this was an every day occurrence. Friendly service and always eager to please. Thank you thank you for accommodating our group so graciously.

This is a complaint because I was a victim of racial discrimination because I am Hispanic. I am a regular customer, I usually attend on weekends and my complaint is that I was having a drink waiting for my friend to come out of the bathroom when a security guy started yelling and insulting me. To leave the bar, I told him that I was waiting for my friend to come out of the bathroom to leave , I thought they would understand because apart from me there were many more people also tasting their drinks, but only the security personnel took me out, they were very rude and unprofessional I never go back to the bar it was not enough for them to run away from the place but also at the door I was insulted one of them he said to me outside a bad word very bad. I was not even drunk I take it personally for Being simply Hispanic I have never been treated like this in any place very bad place I will never return to that place I feel that the bar owes me an apology to me. If you are a Client please do not go to this place, I do not recommend it to anyone please do not go to this place.

Great service, very attentive, reasonable prices, had a nice time with my family. Happy hour until 8pm!

Went in after seeing they were having a bottomless drinks special and thought it would be cool to go check it out. Door staff was completely rude when trying to see if I could get a table. Told us we had to get a reservation which was fine and she could only seat us in the bar. We had asked if we could do the bottomless drink and was told that it was only for tables which would be nice to know in the advertising that you had to reserve a table for it which I would have done so. We got some waters and were completely ignored for the next 40mins and were ready to place are orders. Walked out the place since I was no longer gonna keep wasting our time being ignore. Left such a sour taste throughout my whole trip in New York. Don’t waste and save your self the trouble.

My husband and I wanted a light lunch before going to a Broadway show. We found this restaurant close to our hotel and were impressed by the reasonable prices. It was chilly outside and the grilled cheese and tomato soup was perfect. We definitely would stop here again.

Our friends had been here before and loved the food, so we dined here and we're not disappointed. Our meals were excellent. This is an old house made into a restaurant and bar. There are three levels and also a small outside seating area. Our meals were superb. I would highly recommend going there!

Very pleased we chose the Mean Fiddler to share a drink and a nosh. Although the place was packed on a Sunday afternoon, we were led to the high seats near the bar. EXCELLENT service from Debbie and her team ! Drinks were cold and the appetizers were hot and delicious !! Highly recommend!

We stopped in on a dreary Sunday afternoon. The staff from bartender (Emma was bartending), hostess, waitstaff , manager were very inviting and pleasant. Our intentions were to have a drink and wander on, yet the place was so inviting we had a few rounds and some light fare. They took pride in keeping the place clean and the food we had was excellent. I would certainly recommend stopping by when you are in the area.

Blue Burger was terrific! Also had fish and chips which was excellent. Loved the decor. Irish music nightly. Service was quick without rushing. Ask for Michelle-she was great! Steve K

I stopped in here with some friends before heading to a broadway show that sadly never went ahead as it was the night of the blackout in nyc. Thankfully we had a great time here anyway. Our waiter Patrick was just delightful and very accomodating. I had the fish and chips that Patrick reccommended and was not disappointed. We had just about finished eating when the power went out but despite all that, Patrick was able to give us a handwritten cheque and we were able to leave just in time for the show (that never actually happened sadly). I would recommend the Mean Fiddler for anyone looking for a place to eat and grab a drink before a show. Great atmosphere and great staff.

Very nice establishment for a dinner or lunch before or after the theater. Wait staff could not have been friendlier or nicer. They did not rush me throughout my meal and were not overly attentive. Just the right pace. Food was good and tasty. Would definitly go back again.

The fish tacos were very yummy and drinks were relatively cheap. A fun place to have dinner before a show!

We loved The Mean Fiddler. Great place, great food, great local beer, great live music and first class service. Follow them on Twitter and Tweet a photograph and message while you’re there. You might just find your message on the TV screens. I recommend a visit to The Mean Fiddler.

Went on a Monday night and there was live music and food served (until 11 when it becomes more of a dance pub). Friendly service, and good quality and variety of food. Quick turnaround to serve too. I am a big nacho snob but it’s definitely one of the better ones I’ve had in the city. A must have is the Green Grass cocktail - kept me there until the dance floor opened just because I kept wanting more!

Visited here for lunch during our trip to New York and was nothing short of horrified over the food prices at this pub… ordered a portion of chicken tenders expecting at least some fries to come with it but what came was 3 chicken tenders and some leaves… $19!!! And an extra $10 if you wanted fries… I wouldn’t mind paying money for nice food but the tenders were bland. The 2 stars is for the staff as the Irish girl was lovely… but there are much nicer places to eat in New York City, avoid!

My husband and I really enjoyed our experience at this awesome pub. We decided to go there for a drink and snack while we were waiting for our daughter to finish working. Needless to say we really enjoyed our drinks and spiced cauliflower nd mozzarella sticks. Our server as well as the rest of the staff were very efficient and extremely friendly! We also received a very good green tea shot which was very good as well! Highly recommend!

On our way to our Broadway play we stopped here for dinner and a drink. The macaroni and cheese was outstanding as well as my draft IPA. Our waitress was very attentive and informative. We finished with NY cheesecake. It has been a wonderful evening. Thank you Dervla.

We had reservations, but when we got there, they said they were too busy so they could not take us!

The blond hair women behind the bar is so rude, In conversation walking off! Cocktails and vibes amazing but she really spoilt it!

Came here for a quick sit down meal and ordered the bangers and mash. Excellent food, friendly service and a great atmosphere. Will definitely stop through on my next visit to the neighbourhood.

Everytime we go away, we always find a "go to" bar where we end up when we can't be bothered to explore anymore and The Mean Fiddler was it for NYC. Really friendly service from all staff and especially Nicole and our drinks were never empty long. We ate here a few times and the food was lovely. Portions were ample. Lots of TVs showing USA and UK sport and plenty of room the times we were there - we went in between 2pm and 5pm.

My wife and I visited for dinner during happy hour during a visit to New York. The staff was very attentive and helpful as it was our first time there. They had several screens showing different sporting events and news. The food was good, I got a burger and my wife had the sliders. The food tasted great and were big servings. It’s located very near a lot of the theaters so it would be a nice stop before or after a show.

We loved it so much we visited twice during our visit to NYC. Great atmosphere, lovely welcome and although New York drink prices it was worth it. The DJ was fab, thankyou for playing my fav track for my special birthday!

Welcoming staff, quick service, great food and atmosphere. Superb quality beef burger. Perfect location in theatre land.

I’ve been to The Mean Fiddler several times this year and it’s a fun place. It has the trappings of an Irish sports bar with jerseys, Irish bartenders and Irish tourists. The music is loud so I wouldn’t recommend it for a first date - you’ll have a hard time being heard. The food is okay - try the buffalo wings & churros. The drinks are strong and good! Guinness and assorted cocktails are popular. They show different sports on all the TVs! The DJ playlist is a blend of top 40s from the 70s to current, hip hop, Bad Bunny and a few sing-alongs are thrown in (Sweet Caroline, YMCA). There is some room to dance. You never know when customers will be invited to dance on top of the bar. Lately more people are dancing wildly or seem to be unsteady on their feet - prepare to be bumped and jostled. The clientele is mostly friendly, a mix of young and mature. There is a group of “mean girls” who are regulars that follow women into the bathroom to harass them and substance abuse is an issue. A male regular said that the same things are happening in the men’s bathroom, too. That may explain why some of the regulars don’t come as often as they used to. I told my bartender so I hope management and security are aware. Security is great at removing men who get out of line with women. So it is a safe space if you're a woman coming by yourself from that perspective. Just be careful in the bathrooms. If you are in the Times Square area The Mean Fiddler is worth a drop in for fun, a sports game, a good playlist and drinks!

Great service by the Barman Finn Deering, Had a amazing time and would definitely recommend everyone to stop in and have a few

Lovely ambiance, nice staff, great food, great beer! Great location! Good prices compared to other restaurants in the area.

This restaurant bar is located next to the Copacabana, the service is great and the food was good also, nice spot to hang out for drinks with friends.

We went here last night..And I can tell you the cocktails you receive for the $30 dollars don’t look anything like the ones advertised on Instagram Signature cocktails can be purchased but you don’t get these ones included! Food was great, tasted amazing, service was good too, shout out to Tom on his second night ….but, don’t expect these drinks to be included!! The Porn star martinis we had along with the peach Bellinis were horrific!, told one of the guys about my partners bday and they bought out a sparkler with some shots which was appreciated All in all, we had a great time in the bar but were certainly disappointed in the drinks (included in the bottomless brunch). They were nothing like the ones advertised but in fact seemed to be ready made watered down substitutes

Average food and service , can only imagine reviews are so good as food are taking part in the bottomless brunch and might be good value Very expensive for 3 mini sliders , a portion of fries and curry sauce and a veggie burrito was about $80 and service with a smile it was not , waitress was pleasant can’t understand the reviews for this place , maybe was an off night

The Mean Fiddler serves great fish & chips and has a great, wholesome menu overall. This place as the Irish authenticity in attitude and atmosphere.

We came here for dinner before a Broadway show. The DJ had great music going through whole time - it’s quite loud, which didn’t bother us but I wanted to give a warning in case anyone in your group is sensitive to loud noises. My mom got the fish tacos and I got the Buffalo chicken Mac & cheese. Both were good! The portions were a little on the small side for the price, but all in all we had a good experience.

We are in town for a family wedding and had a few days on our own... we were really hungry and felt like some cozy comfort food... we googled and this place came up so we decided to try it. So glad we did. The food was delicious and our server Patrick was AWESOME!!! He took time to answer all our questions (and we had allot) he was very attentive and courteous. The bar itself is crowded and a little loud but that only added to the fun and lively atmosphere...we will be back on our next trip

Good location, a bit hidden when we went as there was construction all around them. Good menu choices, staff very helpful and attentive, quick service. Fun place.

Scam alert, please don't let them to hold your credit card they thought I'm turist i left my card for the open tab & they took the information & used after 2 hours to buy stuff from best buy. Trash

A great spot for a night out, bouncers firm but fair. You have to watch out for the bar tenders, all of my friends getting charged 300/400 dollars each on there cards for a night of drinking there it just didn’t add up, I paid mostly in cash and the bar tenders kept trying to massively short change me even though I already tipped them. Trying to charge me for 3 drinks in stead of 2 or giving me 2 dollars changed out of a 50 note for one drink. Went here 3 times during my visit to New York, this kinda stuff happened every time, even with the $40 cover on st Patrick’s day, like I said good for a night out but pay cash and watch your change.

The Fish and Chips was excellent. Of course it was even better with a cold Guinness draft. We ate outside in the covered dining area. We thought it was more quiet and allowed for better conversation. Our server Sara did a very nice job as our server too!

Went here with a small group of friends while visiting NYC. This place is the grungiest money grubbing tourist trap I’ve ever been to. The food was bad and we had poor service during the meal. The minute we finished our last bite they dropped the bill and told us to leave because they “needed the table for a reservation.” But we had made a reservation and they did not seat us until 15 minutes past our reservation time. They tried to upcharge us for paying with a credit card and when we asked the waitress why we were being charged more than the bill that was presented to us she said “I don’t know how it works” and she pointed towards a fine-print policy on the bottom of their menu. Your money would quite literally be better spent anywhere else.

We stopped in for dinner. Very limited menu. We were looking for irish food, none here. We ended up having a drink and leaving.

The service was great and the food was some of my most fav pub food ever. The spice box is amazing and the shepherds pie was good too. They put their own little funky twist on pub food and coupled with the service it’s great bites with nice people. Our server was on top of everything. She is Irish and gave us some lessons on Irish curry. We will always remember this meal because of her. A gem. Thanks Fidler.

Decided to eat here due to staying close by and the food had good reviews. The food was good and the portions were decent size. The experience was ruined however by the guy singing and taking every opportunity to fit "up the Ra" into every song he could . I honestly thought this sort of thing ended ...you could see from other diners it was embarrassing, the place was also so dark that we needed to use our phones to read a menu and that noisy that we actually didn't say a word to each other for the duration of out meal ..good food but not so great everything else.

Came here last week with a few friends for a drink before seeing Waitress. We went to a table first to share some apps and Nicole our server was a delight. She was so friendly and knew and knew so much about he menu. After lunch we moved to the bar where we had Aine as our bartender. Even though she was quite busy she was still so attentive and our glasses were never empty! Will definitely be back!

Short on time,we went here before the show. Bar was very busy but we were acknowledged quickly and had a round of drinks before we were sat.Waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and timely. Ordered meals; steak quesadilla/good,burger/good,fish and chips/good,fish tacos/great,veggie tacos/fantastic. Great experience and had plenty of time to get to our show.

Stood outside and waited with my friend for an hour as she was waiting to get picked up. Got denied access because “I was outside waiting”, bouncers were super rude. Laughed at my friend and I, don’t recommend coming here, music is good but bouncers are mid.

What a great place to go out dancing! We came here two nights on our four day trip to New York. What joy to have this place right outside the apartment. Friendly people, great music, enough space on the dance floor. Thank you for a great time! Be aware that you need to show ID if you want to buy drinks at the bar with a credit card. (Generally it’s a good idea to bring your passport when you go out - if you are a tourist like us - as some places won’t serve you alcohol without ID. Even if you’re past 40...)

For a pub I thought the menu was pretty limited. The food was just ok. We had bangers and mash with the sausage more like a hot dog the potatoes and gravy were good

Stopped in on our way to see Frankenstein and had delicious bar-style food. Dervla was our charming waitress.

Very good, fairly priced food and great service—and in the theater district, yet. If you are a couple or a foursome, you can walk right in—plenty of tables. We had traditional Irish meals, but the guacamole was excellent, and I’m sure the Mexican fare was, as well. Our Irish waitress was adorable and attentive.

A great place to go to before a show. The service is excellent and the food is very good. We like the the waitress' hospitality and the Irish authenticity. It adds to the atmosphere and makes the experience very enjoyable.

We had a blast at The Mean Fiddler! We had Louisa as a host and she was brilliant. The food was banging, drinks were flowing and the service was incredible. Can’t recommend this enough, tunes were banging as well. Thank you Louisa from your Scottish gals, we love you so much.

Went for a quiet few drinks with my missus but the bartender Finn was very convincing. Ended up staying for the night! Great drinks and service.

Excellent staff (special mention to Ashleen from home). Home from home loved the atmosphere. Highly recommended

I was hesitant to go into a Irish Pub for dinner as I haven’t had much luck finding great Irish food, but The Mean Fiddler was very good! I had the Shepherds Pie which was tasty and filling. I haven’t eaten a lot of these but this was the best. A friend ordered the Chicken Pot Pie which looked delicious but I would’t say it was the best in NYC. (another place owns that title). All in all it was very good and reasonably priced. Went here right after we attended Wicked (which was awesome). Their Smithwicks draft beer was really good and that’s coming from a light beer drinker. Atmosphere was very good for a mid-day visit for food and drinks with friends!
If you are looking for a fun bar atmosphere this is great. Not dinner.
When I looked for restaurants this was pretty high. Definitely NOT. Don’t come for dinner. If you are an adult and want to come for cool people and cocktails then it’s a great spot. Staff is great. Just not for dinner or lunch.
