The bar is only as good as the server, mine had a bad attitude.

By talentpicker |

As a resident guest, years of renovation have altered the lobby into a modernized unrecognizable bar with a strong emphasis on old style cocktails particularly custom distilled Gins and tonics which are the rage,One evening I sat at this bar and was not pleased with the service unless you flashes a twenty his way, lacked interest and should find a job that would make him smile, poor experience ...

Gin bar got to love it

By Mike020255 |

OK so its a bit pricy but then the gin measures are a bit bigger than most, The bar team are welcoming fun and friendly - how do they get it so right for so many people. Bar snacks are readily available and freely given,

Gin Parlor at Intercontinental Barclay

If you like Gin Cocktails, this is the place to be. They have a wide selection of Gin Cocktails along with other selections such as single malt scotch, beer, wine you name it.

Excellent drinks menu

By Ormchancer |

Lovely hotel bar, nice ambience and live gentle music, we headed here after our long flight and a brief walk around Mid-Town to relax.

Do you like Gin enough

By Dan |

Unfortunately I don't like Gin enough but there are many gin based cocktail and the mix is pretty awesome. Being so specific to cater drinks with gin by no means is a hit or miss kind of choice, kudos for the bravery, just not my thing.

Fantastic cocktails and service!

By mackie1964 |

The Gin Parlour is a gem in midtown Manhattan. Beautiful newly renovated bar with friendly staff and great service. Head bartender Jose Torrella is an amazing mixologist who never disappoints. So worth a visit!

Delicious

By EnjoyFamilyholidays |

We enjoyed a couple cocktails at the Gin Parlour they were outstanding I highly recommend the Hong Kong Garden also enjoyed the Brooke Barclay Negroni, the barman were very helpful with recommendations as I am not usually much of a Gin drinker. A lovely way to relax after a busy day in the city.

Service can be hit or miss

By BeanaMelbourne |

We regularly stay here at the intercontinental Barclay when in NYC and we generally stay for between 12 and 15 nights so we get a good idea of the services. The varieties on offer at the Gin Parlour are excellent and the martini’s are made exactly as requested, the only thing lacking is consistency in the service. When it’s good it’s very, very good but when it’s bad it’s a shame.

Good people watching

By Wendy R |

This was over Christmas and it was decorated nicely, there were people coming and going and the bar is situated in the lobby so it was fun to people watch. Pricing was high but that's New York.

Pretty bar, pretty typical hotel bar experience

By CARheartsTravel |

pretty place, nice renovation, good for people watching as it's right off the entry so there's always a lot of activity. The drinks were not great - the martini was not cold, and the specialty drink was mot mixed properly, but I don't really expect much from lobby bars, for the most part, so I was not terribly surprised. Service was fine, nothing special, and it was fast. Drinks are expensive, but that's to be expected. Overall, it's fine for a quick drink and a chat.

Expected Fare for a Hotel Restaurant/Bar

By _leland_ |

I don't expect much from hotel food especially from the hotel restaurant. The Gin Parlour fits the typical expectations of a hotel's restaurant's fare. We had pasta and burgers. The former was ok, just ok: not much flavor, not too much of anything. The burgers were fresh but again quite plain in flavor and style. The fries with the burgers were again nothing special but the portion was very small. For the price, it was underwhelming. Maybe this place is better for a quick drink/night cap. We all enjoyed the mixed nuts from the bar...

December holiday

By Janice H |

The only negative side of this New York holiday were the bar staff at this beautiful hotel. Standoffish, rude and arrogant are a few words that spring to mind. These people ruined what was a fantastic New York holiday. So glad we didn’t spend much time there.

Great gin cocktails in an elegant setting.

By Rick O |

Drinks were outstanding, service prompt but unobtrusive. The bar is in the lobby of a restored grand hotel. Great atmosphere.

The Gin Parlor....like hanging with old friends...and great drinks!

By Joel137 |

This is the second time we have stayed at the Intercontinental Barclay in NYC. While staying at this hotel we have visited their lobby bar/restaurant. One superstar I need to point out at the “Gin Parlor” bar is...Alessandro. Two years ago this very week we stayed at the hotel. At the bar we met Alessandro and we talked about travel and marveled at his making of drinks and his deep knowledge about what he was making. At that time my wife asked him to make her something special...he went “old school” and chose a Brandy Alexander based on what she told him she liked. Fast forward to this visit (two years later)...I walked up to the bar to reintroduce ourselves, when Alessandro looked over my shoulder to see my wife and said, “Brandy Alexander.” Unbelievable!! He said he remembered us because of our nice conversations and our nice TripAdvisor review. Just incredible! We picked up where we left off and got reacquainted. The hotel should be very proud to have such customer-centered staff like Alessandro. Also, there is Herman. He was a trainee at the Gin Parlor two years ago and he now is a full-fledged veteran of the place. He too, is friendly, warm and welcoming. Thank you Alessandro and Herman. You once again made our fun trip to NY, that much more enjoyable. See you again, soon. Joel & Rosalie...Boston, MA

Great whiskey selection and vibe

By Bruce C |

We found the place by accident but would definitely go back. The whiskey selection was outstanding, and servers knew what they were. Service was really good - friendly, attentive but not overbearing. And food was decent as well - all for a reasonable price, especially for mid-town. And the vibe was really good - def liked the place.

Great selection

By Local_lass20 |

Great gin selection. Gin I chose was nice but not the best I’ve had and was actually quite tiny. Very pricey.

Excellent! The QUINTESSENTIAL classic NYC experience!!

By Carlin G |

I was blown away by my experience at the Gin Parlour. Not only was the cocktail menu impressive and the cocktails carefully crafted by a professional mixologist, but the staff were absolutely amazing. They are warm, friendly, inviting, very knowledgeable and informative. I was unsure of a few of the cocktails on the menu and the bartender, Alessandro, patiently took the time to walk me through each and help me decide which best fit my palate, he is fantastic! If you're looking for an authentic throw back experience in NYC, the Gin Parlour will do quite well. We went on a Thursday evening and were pleasantly surprised with some amazing live jazz (5 piece band) to add to the ambiance and experience. Kudos to the Gin Parlour management and staff. Keep doing what you're doing! I will definitely be coming back!! Thank you Alesandro and Jessica for making this a fantastic experience!

ok but pricey

By gf80 |

cocktails are 18 dollars each. That was a hard hit from someone who comes from Europe :-). But service was good. Great nuts with the drinks. New York Cheesecake is a must!!

Great bar in the Barclay Hotel

By asd24 |

This is a great bar that specializes in different types of gins. Great bartenders in this lively bar.

Our goto hotel with a great Bartender

By MES1948 |

the Intercontinental is our NYC destination. the staff is great , location optimal & exceptional service. We are always happy to see Jose Torrella, the principal bartender at the hotel. Jose is very nice, well informed and makes a great drink. We feel as if he is part of the family . His interaction makes our time here even more special. Stop in and you will be pleased.

A hotel that may not want to be in the food and beverage business proves it.

By charles r |

The Gin Parlor might have been cool, back in the day of bathtub gin. I suspect it looked the same. I had breakfast one morning of my stay. NY is a city with overpriced breakfasts everywhere, but Gin Parllor is a contender for worst value — nearly $50 for a sparse buffet with scrambled eggs so tasteless `they could become legendary. Cappuccino machine? Uhh, no, but plenty of swell, burned tasting coffee. Wait staff looks like worn out union guys who would rather be anyplace else. My guess is the Barclay really doesn’t want to be in the restaurant business, and Gin Parlor is some kind of a punishment because someone thinks they have to be. I went out for breakfast the next morning.

Nice spot to decompress

By Anne C |

We had drinks and snacks here late in the evening -- we made sure to include their house-made tonic water -- lovely. For nibbles, we went with the calamari and the pretzels with beer cheese sauce. The pretzels were a bit "overdone" in that they were kind of dry and crispy when they should have been soft. I enjoyed my gin and tonic with fresh rosemary. The bar/lounge is just off of the lobby and continues the old NYC elegant feel that the rest of the hotel has. Service was friendly and fairly attentive.

Love this place

By Jill B |

We were staying in the hotel where the gin parlour is, never seen so many gins in one place, bar staff very informative about the gins not the cheapest but a nice place to go anytime of the day, not cheap nice treat.

The Gin Parlor Bar is great!!!

By vcat245 |

Went for 'after work' drinks with a co-worker to the Gin Parlor Bar in the lobby of the Intercontinental Barclays yesterday. What a great spot! The head bartender Jose was super friendly and and seriously knowledgeable about all of the different types and flavors of Gin available. The drinks were beautifully created and delicious! Jose's service was impeccable and he also served bar snacks that were unique and yummy. this is a great spot for drinks! it;s both sophisticated and laid back all at once. I look forward to going back, and trying some food from the bar menu.

Not good late night

By Reasonable50 |

We loved staying at the Barclay. We did not enjoy our experience at the Gin Parlour located at lobby level. Our bartender barely looked at us when we sat down and slid menus at us. After we decided on food and drinks (at 10:45 PM) he then informed us that food was only available thru a very limited menu which he had not given us. Thanks buddy.

All the gins of the world

By BeanaMelbourne |

Most of the staff have an excellent knowledge of Gins and of the multiple types of tonic water, including a house made tonic water. I however, had a house specialty of a cosmopolitan which was exceptional.

Nice selection of drinks

By Tripmoreoften |

Good value given it's a hotel bar. Nice surroundings and good atmosphere. Some bare snacks offered would be nice though.

Pricey, rather small but had to be done.

By elsiemate |

We were staying at the hotel and avoided the bar because of the prices. However, we thought we should it experience it one night and had a couple of gins and the kids had some fruit drinks. As expected, the prices were high and it didn't feel 'special' enough to warrant charging those prices. The service was a bit business-like. When you have so many other bars to drink at that have spectacular views, this can't compete. The word 'parlour' conjures up something a little more exciting than the reality of having a drink in a hotel lobby.

First Class Experience

By Trever S |

Over the Thanksgiving Holiday we decided to head to New York for the Holidays. While during our stay every evening we would head over to Gin Parlour for a pre dinner cocktail and that is where we met Head Bartender Jose Torrella who not only gave personal exceptional service but after our three night stay become more like family. The drinks were superb and the atmosphere was amazing from the sleek bar to the decor. The snacks provided kept us asking for more from the mixed nuts to the truffle popcorn this is definitely a place to stop in for a drink. Jose was top notch and we enjoyed not only his service but the conversation and the fact that he made you feel that you were home and not a hotel.

Cheers New York

By Sonali R |

I stopped by this charming bar minutes after checking in, to request a Long Island Ice Tea. It wasn't on the menu, but the barman happily shook it up for me, chilled and strong. Loved the service and the decor - very 1920s!

Gin Parlour at the Barclay

By Jennifer C |

My wife and I stopped at the Gin Parlour for a pre concert drink and were greeted by Jose Torella, Principal Bartender. We received amazing service and the drinks were incredible. We were lucky enough to have been seated while the head mixologist was training the staff on the upcoming signature drink menu! Not only did we see the artistry in the creation of the drinks, we enjoyed samples too! Thanks Gin Parlour team for the unforgettable evening!

Did not meet expectations based on website and location

By bikergirl |

We were staying in the hotel and as it was our last night in NYC before the 7hr flight back to the UK decided to book into the hotel on site to have a relaxed evening. In hindsight it was a good job we did as NYC had been hit wth 8"+ of snow in just a few hours that day and a Snowday was called! The website shows a very genteel looking layout, meeting their tagline of casual yet sophisticated dining, boasting of an unforgettable experience. We arrived 15min before our reservation hoping to sit at the bar and have a cocktail first, however the bar was pretty full with no seating so we were shown to our table straight away. You can imagine our disappointment when we were shown to our table directly underneath a huge TV showing sports coverage, and pretty much on top of another couple at the next table as 3 tables for 2 had been squeezed into a space more suitable for 2 tables for 2. There were another couple of people in the restaurant only, but every table had the TV in view so we decided not to ask to move, particularly as the couple next to us looked as though they were finishing their meal. The drink selection wasn't particularly extensive (apart from gin obviously!) and on the pricy side, as was the food menu. I chose a "bar snack" of mini grilled cheese for starters, and husband chose French Onion soup. Both of these were ok, but nothing special. Husband chose the New York Strip Steak and I went for the chicken cobb salad. Steak was slightly overcooked - asked for medium rare and was closer to medium and whilst the chicken salad was nice, chicken certainly wasn't the main ingredient! I had a couple of glasses of wine (nice but at $15 each should have been!), hubby had a couple of beers. We didn't fancy anything on the dessert menu. Service was OK, but seemed rather over the top for a place showing sports on a big TV. It was a little quick between courses for us, as soon as finished, plates whipped away and next course appeared almost straight away. Not a very intimate dining experience, too brightly lit and tables too close to each other, with background of sports on the TV. Total bill came to $140 and I really felt that this was over-priced for the experience. Yes the fixtures and fittings were of lovely quality and looked great but the whole experience just felt lacking. Disappointing and would not return or recommend.

Cocktail making....poor

By SaintmarkLondon |

The bar itself is lovely, nice venue and nice seating. Good choice of food and drinks. But they can't make a simple old fashioned, relying on pre mixed bottles; shocking. Won't order here again.

Cobb Salad: thank you sir, may I have another.

By orange-u-tall |

In a rush to jump on the 4 to get uptown to the Bronx for a Yankees game, I grabbed a Cobb Salad and beer at the Gin Parlour. The salad and prompt service was so divine that I would recreate the setting 24 hours later as I made it my pre-theater meal. They earned extra points for having Badoit sparkling water, too.

The Gin Parlour/Head BartenderJose Torrella

By ehart38332 |

While the Hotel is clearly a 5 star experience, the Gin Bar stands out. The Head Bartender, Jose Torrella, is a 5 star mixologist that makes my stays there, that much more special. That Gin Parlour. I have recommended the hotel to my friends who come to town, particularly because of Mr. Torrella.

A Gem

By Lily W |

My husband and I stumbled in to this place because we wanted a drink after having been out all day walking and exploring NYC , what a lovely surprise and we were more excited to find a delish French 75 and a Paloma on Fire on the menu BUT more than that, we discovered the Veuve Clicquot burgers and champagne was happening here!!! We had our couple of drinks, left and napped ha. We came back refreshed and promptly seated at the bar and ordered the same two drinks AND the burgers and champagne! Wow the place was amazing and food was delish! Our bartender, Hilton, if I remember correctly…and staff took great care of us and made the drinks and food even more pleasurable! What a great darn time we had! Thank you.

Great lobby bar.

By Tony and Javier P |

Lots of variety on the drinks and the staff is very attentive and courteous. We discovered different gins suggested by the staff.

Nice NYC Bar

By frnkrizzo |

We stayed at the Intercontinental Barclay for a get away weekend. The Gin Parlour was a nice place to stop for a drink or two on our way out for the night. The selection was good and the drinks were made well. The highlight of the bar was our conversation with Jose, the principal bartender. I would recommend the Gin Parlour, and make sure you say hi to Jose !!!

Great gathering place to meet friends

By Richard G |

Staying at this historic hotel was made special by meeting and conversing before or after our outings at the Gin Parlour where the drinks were very good and the staff very courteous and pleasant.

Classic hotel bar

By Inkognito |

Good to have the classic hotel bars, always a good place to start the evening. A place to look at people and get a good conversation.

Great place to have anything gin.

By dbwbear |

If you are a gin lover, then this is the place to have a wonderful cocktail. The selection is amazing and the largest I have ever seen. They offer lots of cocktails that I have never heard of and their small plates are tasty. Definitely go if you love gin cocktails.

Great classic hotel bar

By Gary K |

Fantastic selection of gins and other liquors. Beautiful lobby bar in a classic hotel. Alessandro was a courteous and attentive bartender with a great knowledge of the liquor selection.

Jose & His Team are Great!

By juliek66 |

We were staying at the Barclay - Intercontinental and finished each evening at the Gin Parlour Bar with Jose and his team. They are amazing. The drinks were great and they can make anything. They are engaging and a lot of fun to share stories with. Because of this Bar, Jose, and the entire staff, we always stay here when we are in NYC.

Unpleasant service

By Chuan-Yin |

My partner was using the walker but the waiter intended to take us to a far end corner table from accessible entrance. I indicated that it was too far and uncomfortable corner. The nasty waiter just waved both hands in the air and said we could take any place we want. WAVING HANDS IN THE AIR? What a nasty n rude behavior to the hotel guest! I was planning to put no tip on the bill but the bill came with 15% extra charges. Disgusting is the word! We will stay at the hotel until the end of the month but will NEVER plan to go back for breakfast. RUDE!

Relaxing

By Lizerte |

Nice place to relax and have a drink after a long day. Beautiful lobby. We enjoyed this very much would go again

Must have a cocktail here!

By TravelManagerLoveIt |

If you like Gin, you must visit. If you don't like Gin, that's ok; you'll be able to find a great beverage here too. Prices are a little on the high side; but it's a lovely bar to the side of the lobby and it's great for people watching! Grab a snack or a meal. It's all here.

Excellent choice of drinks and prices not too high for a hotel.

By MightyredEngland |

Nice, little escape from the city. Drink prices are reasonable for where you are.. food was good. Only downside is the staff who think that they are better than you... Not the biggest personalities going. Sometimes a little thank you goes a long way.

Cocktails before Dinner

By Reasonable50 |

Great classy bar overlooking the lobby at The Barclay. We enjoyed the jazz band on a Thursday night. Drinks were pricey, so if you are on a budget, drink conservatively. Night caps would be wonderful here.

Gin !!

By PRG |

Many Gins to choose from in a chic laid back environment. The staff were friendly and knowledgable, it was fairly pricey though !

So fun

By HelsinkiRita |

I love this bar and its staff. What a great place to meet people. And if one is hungry, there is a enu that has nice food for all. I took the chicken cob salad and fell in love with that. This place is good to come to have a drink or two.

Unfortunately unimpressed

By www.DinedThereSippedThat.com |

Being a big gin fan I was very intrigued and excited about checking out the gin parlor after our dinner close by. Well, unfortunately I have to say that I’m glad that we didn’t make it a destination for the evening. This is just a very basic lobby bar in the Intercontinental Hotel. Sure maybe they have some gins that you won’t find everywhere, but the uninterested attitude of the bar staff and the nothing special ambiance really leaves me no desire to return. If you’re interested I against making a long trip to get here. Should have had dessert at the restaurant we were at, the cheese cake was a far cry from traditional New York cheese cake.

Prices more than product justifies

By Susan J |

Thought the bar would be fine after-theatre spot to enjoy. While we enjoyed our apps and cocktails, $23 for a good cosmo seems high even by NYC standards. If you are braced for the bill, nonetheless pleasant place.

Good food, fair pricing and attentive service

By RGSOUNDF |

We stayed at InterContinental Barclay (not the first time) and opted for a quick late lunch on a June Saturday. We didn't particularly like the breakfast pricing neither its choices, but our lunch was quite satisfactory, no issues at all. We really liked the choices, ranging from snacks to appetizers to salads to main courses. There is definitely something for every taste and persuasion. The pricing (excluding breakfast) was quite fair, that is for Manhattan and for a restaurant located in a hotel. Our Escarole Caesar Salad w/Avocado, Radish, and Country Boule (French rustic loaf) was quite good and so was the Black Bass Crudo, served with Charred Eggplant and Dukkah (Egyptian spice blend), the latter is highly recommended for a light and healthy fare ($19 and $18, respectively). The location, on the raised floor, allows for a leisurely people watching in the hotel's lobby. Service was very good, polite, efficient and attentive. Definitely recommended, but not for breakfast purposes.

A gin-some evening

By Younggeezy |

We enjoyed a casual and intimate after-work gathering with some clients at the Gin Parlour. The venue is clean, quiet and cozy. It’s lined with plush chairs and has an upscale, classic and charming ambiance with plenty of space to spread out. If you are looking for noise and vibrance, consider another spot. This one is more laid back. As to the offerings, the menu is impressive on the gin front if you are a connoisseur. Who knew there were so many gins? Gin has almost a cult following in NY it seems. I forgot that I can appreciate a gin drink from time to time. I had a couple of quintessential G&Ts and they were refreshingly delectable. Blue moon on tap, too, for a nice night cap. We also shared the meat and cheese plates, the pretzel, calamari, and the Greek chips/spreads. The plates were a little light on content, but still enjoyable. Everything was tasty and well prepared and presented, nicely complementing our adult beverages. That’s about it. A good spot for the occasion.

Hit and miss

By laughingcake |

We visited a couple of times, we had lovely food and cocktails on the first visit but on our return was busy and service was poor

Great gin, delicious cocktails!

By Nayna B |

A lovely bar full of choices for gin lovers. The bar staff are friendly and helpful. I wasn’t sure which cocktail to go for (there was a good selection) so the bar staff took the time to get to know what I like and help me pick one. I would recommend this bar. It was pricey - $19 for a cocktail plus tip. But the cocktail was good and good atmosphere when sitting around the bar itself.

Great hotel bar

By Blackjackburger |

This is a great spot to start your evening or finish off with a night cap. Be warned though it aint cheap at $16 for a G&T but nothing you wouldn't expect to pay in a top hotel. Good selection of Gins but... This is the second time I have been to this hotel and drank in this bar. Both occasions I asked for a Brooklyn Gin and tonic. and on both occasions they didn't have any Brooklyn Gin and served something different without telling me. My other bug bear is they seemed to be serving the tonic from a large bottle (the same as I had bought from CVS!) rather than serving the bottle I had requested with the Gin for me to pour in. That said the Gin they served as a substitute I later found out was an excellent 1911 Gin from upstate New York. The bar is also used as the are they server breakfast and also has food available throughout the day. One of the suits behind the bar was very knowledgeable on the subjects of Gin types and tastes. There is one guy though who works behind the bar who has been here a lot of years and is a great bartender perfectly mixing drinks with friendly conversation - what more do you want from you hotel bar.

Classic Hotel Dining

By Andrew R |

This was a comfortable spot for breakfast. Served buffet style, offered the usual options but also some atypical items such as Chinese dumplings. Excellent fruit offerings. Bread and pastry selection was the weakest feature. Bagels, bialys need to be just baked, breads crisp and fresh, representing the best New York has to offer.

Good lobby bar, wish it was open later

By Anne C |

This is a lovely "open air" bar to the side of the lobby's "living room." As the name suggests, gin is featured here, but it is a full bar with all kinds of wines and liquors. You'll find tons of different gin varieties -- the menu says there is a "gin-cyclopedia" to help with your choices but I didn't look at one. They also have a variety of tonics as well, including a house-made version. Plus, there are a number of specialty cocktails featuring various liquor combinations, including a section of their bar menu called "Garden to Glass" which feature concoctions that use herbs from their rooftop garden and beehives. As this is one of my favorite hotels, I was here recently for a quick overnight girls' trip the other day so naturally after dinner we came here for a cocktail and continued conversation. It was a Friday night and we got a little table next to the railing that separates the bar from the lobby living room. Both my girlfriend and I ordered nicely crafted cocktails and were so happy to be there. Service was OK, not particularly attentive but alright. I probably could have used more ice water but the server wasn't around us that much. The real disappointment, though, was that on a Friday night in a full-service hotel lobby bar it closed at midnight! Most of the patrons seemed to be staying at the hotel so all we had to do was go upstairs when we were done -- midnight seems a bit early. Once it was closing, lights started to get brighter and even a little while later they started vacuuming right next to us in the lobby. We would have happily ordered another round of drinks had we been able to be there longer. So while the setting and the drinks were very good, we wanted to have a place to sip and chat for longer.

Very poor service, too high prices for not very good drinks

By Lindsey D |

Came to the gin parlour 3 times on a recent stay at the Intercontinental. Good things: really nice sounding jazz on Friday evening; the Bees Knees cocktail. Bad: everything else. Service was slow and the waiters certainly were not oozing hospitality. One server barely looked at me (late Friday night) when we were ready to get the check - despite walking by our table 4 times. Another looked like I was asking for his first child when I asked for my party of 4 to sit at a recently vacated grouping of arm chairs instead of sitting in the back at a banquet table. He was also a smidge disgruntled when we needed extra time to consider our drink selections. The third visit (in the middle of the weekend) was for coffee (because the room coffee was horrible). At $4.50 a cup, I asked them to bring out new coffee because it was the bottom of the urn and there were a bunch of grounds in my cup. Begrudgingly, they brought me one of the carafes the servers were using for the breakfast service. An hour later, they still hadn't replaced it with a new urn. It's a miss on all the good the rest of the hotel does and it's a miss on $19 cocktails. Go elsewhere for service and charm if you can.

Excellent cocktails and amazing staff

By Audrey H |

I visited The Parlour at the Intercontinental Hotel while I was staying across the street at The Lexington. This bar is everything a weary NYC visitor needs - excellent cocktails, knowledgeable bartenders, and a superb gin selection. I had a great time discussing drinks with my new favorite bartender, Herman. We started with a Jungle Bird. (Sage-infused Campari? Sign me up!) After that lovely drink, he made me a (off-menu) Last Word with Sipsmith Gin - spectacular. We wrapped with a classic Aviation - with Mr. Reynolds’s own Aviation gin. What I loved about this place was that it was relatively quiet (even during US Open weekend). The staff was knowledgeable and accommodating. Herman even let me taste test a genever they keep in stock to see if it was something I wanted to try. As a cocktail nerd, there is nothing better than finding a bar and bartender who will work with you to find the perfect drink(s). I’m surprised I’m saying this, but this hotel bar is top notch. Will be back. And thank you, Herman! You’re awesome.

Great Place for a good drink

By Dean F |

The drinks and service at this place is great. Head Bartender Jose Torrella is awesome! A great place to have a few drinks and unwind.

classic standard

By SunshineAman |

The bar at the Barclay is a classic standard. There's a great selection of classic cocktails, new favorites, bear and international wine, not to mention some delicious bites.

Decent Hotel Bar even at NY Prices.

By mlahm |

Tucked into the lobby of the Intercontinental Barclay, the Parlour is a bar also serving a limited menu. The barmen are super skilled, ours was Jose, and know how to sling a cocktail. Their “Star Martini” is good, but was pricey at $23, G&T -21, Glass of Bordeaux - 18. Food was fine although that service was a little lacking especially as they were not busy. Worth a drink or two while waiting to go somewhere else if you are staying int he hotel.

Nice Spot For Drinks

By BuddhistNYC |

we had a few most enjoyable nights at the Gin Parlour. service is good, range is also. a good meeting place. recommended.

Comfortable, cosy, sufficient for a little snack in between

By Olaf |

We visited the Parlour lounge for a snack. Nice service and good food - not too innovative, but sufficiently delicious. The lobby behind is occasionally quite noisy. Staff is friendly and helpful. Sometimes stressed as they have to serve the restaurant und the background es well

Great spot for a nightcap

By LindseyLuc |

Wide choice of cocktails and of course Gin served with a smile- not cheap at $16 for a G&T though. However very relaxed atmosphere overlooking the lobby area-great for people watching

Gin Bar

they have an amazing number of gins and tonics to choose from, but be warbned this will cost from $14 a drink upwards!

Jose, Jose!!!

By shanashields79 |

After hours of traveling we finally arrived at the Intercontinental Barclay. Our room was not ready when we arrived so we decided to have a few drinks and food at Gin Parlour which is located in the lobby of the hotel. We were in luck because we arrived during Restaurant Week. The Restaurant Week menu was limited but what really made this experience worth it was Jose, the bartender. He greeted my husband and I like he had known us for years. He really made our weekend get-a-way start off right. He was friendly and funny but most importantly very attentive to our needs as guests of the hotel and patrons of Gin Parlour. Jose you have that it factor and make the best drinks I have ever had. Thanks for a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back. I wish I could clone you so that you could be a part of all our dining experiences. Thank you!

Wake Up Call!

By Duvel11Frederick |

We had breakfast here every morning for our 3 night stay and could not have been more pleased. The food was excellent with superb variety. Service was attentive but not intrusive. The daily greeting by the maitre d was like that of a long lost friend. If the price bothers you, there is a marvelous diner just around the corner and a Mickey D.

Great setting but...

By KathAndBuddy |

We were staying at the hotel and had a night cap in the gin parlour each evening. There were a huge range gins on display and we tried a few. It's not cheap - $18 for a cocktail. One night I also ordered a sprite which cost $8 plus tax plus 18% tip (added automatically) - about £9 for taking the top off a bottle!! We tried a few of the cocktails but disappointingly they are pre mixed. We were told it is so that they all taste the same but if I'm paying an 18% tip I want to see them made in front of me. Isn't that part of the magic?

Want my money back!!

The breakfast buffet was definitely not worth $100 for two. The selection was so limited and the food was not good, at all. You get powdered eggs (or at least they definitely taste like one), really stale waffles, stale bagels, and so on. The only thing that was up to par were some pastries. I can't believe I trusted the reviews and made the trip up all the way up to the hotel to treat a valuable guest. It was so embarrassing. Not sure what the raving reviews are for - maybe because people get breakfast free staying at the hotel, I have no idea. But I can surely tell you this is no way a 5 star breakfast buffet. It was Holiday Inn level. You dont even get fresh squeezed orange juice in the price!! Crazy.

Great service made up for high prices

By Kayla G |

The Gin Parlour was in our hotel, so it was really convenient for us to eat or drink here during our stay in New York. As we visited over the Christmas period and everywhere was so busy, we did this a few times. The prices (particularly the drinks) were a couple of dollars higher than everywhere else in NYC, but the service we received from one particular waiter, who served us every time but our last visit, made it worthwhile. I can't remember the waiter's name, but he had dark hair and stubble and spoke with a European accent (possibly French or Belgian, but I'm not good at placing accents!) If it hadn't been for this waiter, I would have probably given the Gin Parlour a three start review instead of four: the food was quite nice but I'd probably expect outstanding food for the prices. Overall, our experiences at the Gin Parlour were pleasant.

The world's most expensive soda water?

By Roy L |

On a hot day in July, we were charged $19 for two soda waters, although, to be fair, we did ask for ice. For a cocktail, you may need to remortgage your house.

A cool place, with attentive staff, great location and food on had if you need it. Located in the lobby across from the reception large spacious place, with comfy bar stools or intimate tables, if your alone, in couple you wont feel out place.

Exquisite restaurant & great service

By Kyara |

The restaurant has a very nice & cosy setting in the hotel. Our waiter, Martin, was very kind, helpful and gave us good recommendations about the menu. The menu is very expanded and the quality of the food and drinks was exquisite! Overall we had a very good experience here, and we would recommend it to everybody. Tip for anyone who likes desserts as much as we do: try the chocolate crumble it is delicious!

Best Gin Bar

Incredible selection so tried quite a few. The cocktails too were Gin based and the Gin & Moet was heaven. Ask Jose he is superb!

Expensive Drinks!

By notme2017 |

The average drink on the menu is about $16. That being said, our drinks were tasty and creative. The bartenders were professional and helpful with ordering the bar's specialties.

Lobby bar - nothing special

By quin-i-bog |

This is the only options for eating or drinking at this hotel. It's a lobby bar, you will share the space with guests checking in or out and waiting for rooms etc. It's nothing special at all.

Relaxed Bar

Great Staff and selection of drinks. Nice place to get away from the hustle & bustle to get your second wind.

Great food, beautiful presentation!

I visited the Gin Parlour today for lunch and had a three course meal. I had the shrimp cocktail to start, followed by the NY Strip, and finished off my meal with the creme brulee. All of these items on the menu are a must try!

Nice bar with poor service

By BCooney |

We stopped to grab a drink here Saturday afternoon on our way back to our room. The bar wasn't very busy so I went to use the men's room as my girlfriend ordered us drinks. I returned from the bathroom to a girlfriend rolling her eyes and a bartender looking at his phone. She let me know that he walked passed her a couple of times but she didn't wave him down and now he was on his phone. The girl across the bar from us saw all of this going on and started to chuckle, It seemed like she was in the same situation as we were. But at this point she was just waiting for him to get her check. We finally get Jose's attention and order our drinks. In the meantime another guest comes in and he stops to take her order too. In the middle of her ordering he walks away and gets a glass to give to a server, in the middle of the guest talking. She didn't seem put off by it and continued with her order, talking louder and louder the further away that he walked. We finally get our drinks and we sit there as this bartender walks passed the few empty glasses that were in front of people at the bar. Unless you flagged him down, he wasn't stopping. At one point he asked a server to help a customer and the servers response was "Since when do you care about guests?". The bar layout was nice and it was clean, but the service left something to be desired.

Food Was Great

While visiting this hotel my wife and I decided to eat in the Gin Parlour. My steak was cooked perfectly with great seasoning, my wife had a half chicken dinner plate that was great.
