Good food and great service. Just wanted a good honest breakfast and this place hit the spot. The omelette was good and side of fried potatoes. The cofre kept coming and staff friendly and attentive. Thanks G

The diner was clean and neat, food was good, people were friendly. Easy to get a table and convenient to our hotel for late evening quick dinners.

Had an occasion to have dinner there recently. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was casual and nice. Our waiter was fantastic and the food was pretty decent. The turkey on my club sandwich was real turkey and not turkey roll. I liked that. This is a great place for a quick bite.

Staying locally and we knew this place from old. Lot cheaper than hotel breakfast and significantly better! However, unfortunately mixed results on the three days we visited, the first day very good, the 2nd & 3rd not so much, from both a food and service perspective. Needs to be more consistent and pay more attention to its customers (in a few cases!). Don’t expect a cheap option though, just shy of £50 for two coffees, and a couple of crepes with bacon!

Having lived in NYC I only recently went here with friend. It was a great place for a decent diner type meal. Large menu, bright room, plenty of seating. Its just off 6th Ave on 44 St. up the block from Times Square and a great choice to get away from the crowds. Well worth it.

We went from Times Square to have breakfast at the Red Flame, good service, typical menu. I had San Diego omelette. Recommended but you'll be full until late afternoon. So if you want to visit a typical American diner, you're in good hands here.

A good experience at this Diner, upon entry we were seated quickly to a rather quiet dining area with an abundance of staff, our waiter was nice, polite and was quick ! But I couldn’t help but feel the other waiters eyes staring over as there were so many of them, I myself opted for the grilled cheese sandwich which was good, however some of the sides we ordered such as the Mozzarella sticks were hit and miss ! For the price of the food so close to Times Square I would return !

I definitely wouldn't recommend. Food was cold and not very palatable. Staff were lovely, but we barely touched our food it was soo bad

Extremely basic food. You could make this at home in 5 minutes. Nothing is seasoned. Honestly for our last dinner in nyc on this trip it’s quite disappointing. I would not eat here again. Good service though and clean.

Decent and reasonably priced is the word for this place. Located in midtown you would expect to pay more then you local hometown diner but this place is within reason and the food was a generous portion and good. We ordered from the Tuesday lunch special menu. I had the BBQ brisket hero and my wife had the Greek chicken wrap. Both came with fries. The brisket was tasty ( I would have liked a little more in the sandwich) and the fries were generous and good. The special also comes with Cole slaw, pickle and a soft drink for $16.95 ( reasonable for midtown).

We have had a breakfast at The Red Flame in the past 3 mornings and will certainly be coming back tomorrow The service is outstanding and the breakfast omelette is cooked to perfection. Unlimited coffee refills are always available and the staff are pleasant and polite Well done

Our first visit back to NYC and the Red Flame almost 4 years to the day. We were holiday sightseeing around Times Square and I remember the Red Flame. Prices have increased substantially from what I recall before, but clean and comfortable diner that still seems to attract a number of local residents. I ordered the club sandwich (with fries) and wife got the beef cheesesteak. Very large portions of both sandwiches so had to use some to-go boxes. Attentive server. They do have a card surcharge if you aren't pay by cash.

For those who want to enjoy an American breakfast should go to this place, it has all the look of a typical American place.

Attentive staff, good food, good place, would go again, recommended. Seems popular with locals as well

Delicious traditional diner breakfast fare. Our eggs were cooked perfectly but all of the food was Luke warm. I would try it again to see if it was just a one-off.

Food very overpriced and mediocre. Waitress was not friendly. Could not leave a custom tip on credit card receipt—option only to choose percentage. $112 for 4 for a lousy breakfast. Go to Junior’s for their cheese blintzes for a delicious breakfast with friendly waiters!!

a very good diner located near theaters on 44th. Nice selection and decent qquality. sppacious, so can take large groups

Convenient location and food ok but just above average for price. Attitude of some staff leaves a lot to be desired…especially if you ask to sit at a different table than told to🙄

The atmosphere and food are reminiscent of the diners of yesterday, but have modern day options like egg whites, etc. for those of us on special diets. The hostess was a bit rude but the manager and waitstaff were so friendly and accommodating. The rye bread was the best rye bread I've had in a long time. We will definitely return.

Thinking it would be a great place to stop in for breakfast was wrong. The staff is not friendly, they act like they don't want to be there, and the food is sub par. I would go to Andrews NYC Diner instead. Delicious and really friendly staff

A short walk from Times Square & Bryant Park. A classic Diner menu with some Greek items. This was our first meal this trip. They do offer Breakfast all day. We stopped in for lunch, Tasty Greek salad, classic club sandwich. Highly recommended especially for our foreign visitors for a taste of American diner food. Great friendly service. Very clean. We always go for at least one meal a trip.

Rude waitress, old French fries and the ‘deluxe cheesburger’ was the poorest thing I ever saw. And then they wanted tip. Eh; NO! Avoid.

This was a close diner near our hotel. The menu has a lot of options from breakfast all day, hamburgers, paninis to spaghetti and meatloaf. The meatloaf plate was very yummy with very moist slices of meatloaf and a mound of green beans. The french onion soup has a very sweet taste, which was not what we were used to. The breakfast plate came with three large pancakes, eggs and five pieces of crispy bacon. The hamburger was a bit dry and uninteresting. The servers were attentive with water, but they looked bored and never smiled or came by to ask us how things were. Very relaxed atmosphere. Prices ranged from $13-28.

Efficient and it is the best value for money that we find, there is a fairly large choice for breakfast , coffee American will. We had dinner there too and it’s still okay the only problem ... never take an espresso , it’s unaffordable ( $5.20) but it’s everywhere the same

I’ve been here for breakfast and I had a very good experience. The menu offers a lot of choices for different combinations. We had eggs and bacon that always come with mashed potatoes that were delicious. The service is very fast, that’s why maybe we didn’t wait in line a minute. The environment is like a classic diner, clean and friendly but nothing fancy. I will for sure comeback here for my breakfast experience on NY.

I stayed in New York for a week and my hotel did not have breakfast. I came here almost every day and the stuff is so friendly and appreciative of our presence. I have the eggs Benedict twice and they were delicious. I did not like the breakfast potatoes. The bagels and cream cheese were also good. I recommend this restaurant to anyone. Food comes out very fast and you can sit there as long as you want.

We have eaten french onion soup, tuna wrap, hamburger and bagel with avocado and bacon. The soup was flavered with something strange spice -maybe cinamon-. The tuna wrap was tasteless, hamburger was correct, as the bagel too. The staff wasn’t kind.

Wow fast fast service. Sat ordered and food was there. I had eggs Benedict and wife had chefs omelette. Tasty. 50 dollars with tip.

Traditional American diner just steps away from Times Square. Great selection of portions. Fast and friendly service. Nice and clean restaurant.

The Sofitel didn't serve breakfast so we went next door every morning to one of the few diners left in NYC. Typical fare: eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns, toast, butter and jam (the hashbrowns were not the best we've ever had, far from it). The eggs were fine, the bacon crisp and the orange juice fresh. Pleasant, fast service, no frills but constant water and coffee refills. The lady who takes you to your seat took a few days to warm up but was friendly in the end. The cashier could certainly use a smile now and then. The place is hectic in the morning but was deserted when we passed it at night.

They never post or say that when you pay by credit card, they charge extra 4%. They just swipe your card and when you are about to sign. There it is. No wonder the customer ahead of me was shaking his head and try to pull his last few dollars to pay to avoid the surcharge. Way overpriced as well

If you’re looking for an authentic ‘diner experience’, good place to go. Clean and efficient. Food was good, not great.

We visited this restaurant after more than 14 years and found the breakfast was as good as we remembered. The service was efficient, and servers were attentive to our needs. We visited twice during our visit and enjoyed it both times. It is still a busy restaurant at breakfast time.

We were going to the Brooklyn Diner which always looked busy when we passed by. We went at 10 and were told they had just closed. They were very nice and recommended the Red Flame Diner and provided directions. When we arrived Fri, Dec 3 at the Red Flame at 10:15, we were seated without an issue by a nice hostess. We were given menus and within what we thought was a normal waiting time for the waiter to come take our order. Nothing amiss. He took our order perfectly fine; was cordial and friendly. Took maybe 20 minutes for us to get our food (which was very good!) and at that point, a woman came up to us telling us we needed to get ready to leave! We said we just got our food and she said they were closing and we would need to leave very soon. Maybe 8-10 minutes later, she came back, stood over us and said "You need to leave, NOW. We are closed." It was not yet 11. Even if it was, I've never been anywhere demanding we need to leave NOW due to time. There were several other patrons and everybody did the same. We finished our meal under her aggravated demeanor and attitude and left. The server was great but nowhere to be seen when all this was occurring. I'm surprised we didn't ask to speak to the manager...she very well could have been! We were so shocked, we just paid and left. And had many great laughs about it because it was such a crazy thing to have happen. It's a shame that type of behavior gives NYC a bad name. My low rating is the bad taste it left by this woman ruining our experience. The food was good but we didn't get to really enjoy. The waiter and hostess were great and we did tip him well. It wasn't his fault.

In the center of Manhattan, welcoming location and just what a diner is about. Service friendly with a smile. Food good, plentiful and tasty. I ordered steak which was served with battered onion rins, mushrooms and mashed potato. The side salada was a meal in itself. My vegetarian wife had egg salad. Plentiful and faultless.

This is definitely a Diner in the East Coast sense. The menu is huge, although the breakfast selections were relatively sparser. The food was delivered very quickly, and our breakfast dishes were good. Of course, there are those huge high Manhattan prices.

My family and I were staying at the Algonquin hotel in Times Square. The red flame diner happened to be situated just outside and we needed a quick bite. There are only a few other families in the restaurant at the time so we were a bit nervous, but in the end, we all had a great meal. We were promptly seated. The restaurant does not have great options for large groups, but they did put a small table next to a Booth push accommodate at the six of us. My kids ordered breakfast, even though it was late night and I ordered a tuna melt. My other kid had a chef salad. All of us had prompt service with, good food.

I would have been able to give 3.5 instead of 3. It's a "classic", right next to the hotel where we were staying and where we only had our breakfasts. These are very decent, but not unforgettable either. Let's say that what you are served is what you ordered, neither more nor less (for example the French Toast will arrive without anything other than its slices of French toast, without a piece of fruit or a little touch of decoration in addition. The decor is rather functional, and the team "American style", that is to say rather efficient and fast.

My wife took me here for my 40th birthday breakfast, was great. It's exactly how you picture an American diner. The food was lovely and as all of New York the staff were great.

We loved this classic NYC diner! Service was outstanding - efficient, friendly, attentive. Food was great - well prepared classic diner food with a great menu. Location was perfect for us, too! Easily accommodated a group of 7!

We were staying at a hotel several doors down. We literally ate here over 5 times, including Post Parade Thanksgiving Breakfast. Food fabulous, staff attentive and friendly, never had a wait over several minutes. Highly Recommended

My husband and I ate breakfast here three days in a row. We were very impressed with the excellent service, and our coffee cups were never more than half empty! Food was very good, particularly the eggs Benedict. The restaurant also has outdoor seating, which is a nice addition.

went there because of so many good reviews but i must say i wasn't impressed not with food, not with service not with coffee taste. Nice feeling of American diner interior and prices a bit cheaper than the rest of the diners thats about it. Rude middle age waitress who splashing the coffee into your cup like its would be a dog bowl average size and quite flat pancakes

Diner near the Theater District with excellent food and service. Very reasonable prices. I love the omlettes and french toast! I highly recommend! There is a 5% discount if you pay with cash, but you MUST ask for it when paying at the cashier.

A bit expensive, but both service and portions weigh up to the price. Nice food to quick waiters. Recommended on the strongest😊

The flame has sadly gone out on this diner! Thought I would give it a try as I didn’t have much time to check out in the afternoon and head to EWR. l usually have my last breakfast at ‘Eat Here Now’ (upper east side)- highly recommend ! Poor service ie average food..unfriendly

The Red Flame Diner sure has come in handy for us a few times. It is not a large diner but it seems that customer turnover is fairly consistent, even on a busy day. Having visited before the Tartan Day Parade the past couple of years and on other busy days, we have not had to wait for a seat yet. The menu has the usual variety of diner items at typical diner prices. Breakfast is usually very good and just enough to fill you up. Service is rather quick but it might vary depending on the food that is ordered. Overall, the folks who work there are friendly.

On the positive side, the place is extremely well located and is very clean and bright. The waiters are ok. On the negative side, the lady in charge was like doing a favor to receive the clients with a bad face, and still you have to tip for her bad mood. First thing she said with a bad attitude was "we're closing within an hour!", and was alone and looking for a quick light meal! The NY pastrami sandwich was terrible, with lousy pickle on the side. Paid usd 35,00 for a sandwich and 2 Bud.

Is there anything better than a Greek diner in NYC? I think not! This restaurant, next door to the Algonquin hotel where we were staying, was terrific. Nice menu, tasty food, speedy service, and generous portions. We liked it so much for lunch we went back the next day for breakfast!

Food was excellent for what you expect. Typical diner food with a little extra. Service was good. Food was brought out on time and the server even took the time to split the bill for us. We were a party of 9, my cousins were visiting from out of town with their mom and my other aunt as well and some friends and my cousin's husband, so we settled on a place that could seat us all in midtown Manhattan. My bill for one Heineken and a bison burger with onion rings came out to less than $32. So I went down to the cashier and made change with the intent of leaving $38 with my bill. I left it and also my aunt's bill and cash with the server directly, not on the table. We're all outside on the street when the hostess comes out telling me that I only left $18. I was shocked and appalled at the accusation that I didn't leave enough for my bill and tip. My aunt, who was the only other one in our party who paid cash, was also told she didn't leave enough either. I'm 34 years old. I've worked as a server and my brother worked in the industry as well for over 8 years. Not leaving enough on the bill is disgusting to me and I have yet to walk out on a bill or a tip where I dine. I was sure I left enough money because I started the night with $200 in my pocket and when I recounted I had $162 left. To also accuse not one, but two people of the same stunt is ridiculous because grown adults don't try to stiff people on a bill at a restaurant. I angrily left $10 on the counter and said I'd never go back there again, and I'm writing this review to inform whoever takes the time to read it that, if you decide to go to this circus of a restaurant, you should only pay with debit or credit. Don't trust them with your cash, they'll try to rob you.

Unfriendly employees! But taking that out, it's worth waiting because the meals are very good, the pancakes are good! Not excellent but good. Higienized place.

Clean, tasty, friendly, great service. Perfect NY diner. Ordered chicken wings and were delicious but also the service was friendly and all home made

Just good food in a pleasant atmosphere. We always have lunch there in NYC. Best cheese blintzes and breakfasts around. Nice staff and not expensive.

The experience was excellent, great service by Rosa, ambience and food. Try the club with the pickel and cole slaw. I’ll be back!

This place is convenient for all 3 meals of the day. It's classic American food, with huge portions. I like going there with family, however you have to be careful the time of day that you choose to go because sometimes it can be swarming with tourists (love them) but they seem to come in masses, making the table-finding situation a bit difficult. Sometimes, the food isn't great other times it's phenomenal. The pancakes are my moms favorite, she says they're fluffy and light and I personally go for the Club sandwich, minus the bacon and add a couple slices of good old American cheese. The service is fast and friendly, always a glass of water placed before you before you can even open the menu. The diner itself is a little dingy but really, it's not dirty or sticky like some of the other diners in the city. The French fries are some of my favorites, and their mayo is super good too which is weird considering I'm not a mayo fan. I'm not sure if they make it in-house or what but it's so good. Location is cute too, right beside the world famous Algonquin hotel and Times Square (big tourist trap). Prices are real good too for a diner in the middle of Manhattan, not expensive. Maybe reduce the portion a little, but honestly, if you're eating out, just eat whatever you want. It's for sure one of my favs.

During our visit, the Algonquin did not have food service, so this was a convenient diner with a good standard breakfast menu and a typical NYC diner ambiance.

The Red Flame Diner is very close to our hotel and was a logical choice for breakfast. It seems like a popular space as place was full with locals as well as tourists. We had fried eggs, bacon and fries, with oj and coffee... all but coffee was very tasty (coffee was probably good just not to my hubby’s taste)... we’ll definitely be back tomorrow morning

Had a ham and cheese omelette which was very bland. The hash browns were also very bland. No flavor at all. At least the coffee was OK. Same for my travel partner. The waitress was very attentive which made up the hostess who seemed annoyed and disinterested when seating customers as they entered the dinner. Will not return on future trips to NYC. There are other dinners which have more appetizing food and better atmosphere in Manhattan.

Coffee was weak, cutlery was dirty. Waffle was partially raw, very thick and quite tasteless. Toast was burnt around the edges and soft bread in the middle. Staff could barely speak English and were blunt and rude, not in the expected, endearing New Yorker rude way. Do not recommend.

Our omelet was way over cooked. The outside was brown. The hash browns were also well done but edible. The only way to eat this was with lots of catsup. There are too many good places of breakfast in NY. Don’t waste your time with this one

We stopped here for dinner after a day of walking in the city. It was quiet; clean and the food was fantastic. Felt like going back in time a little too. Large portions of food for the cost as well

Outrageously overpriced for a basic bowl of soup and the most blandest tasteless chicken club sandwich I’ve ever had. It used to be good and a lot more reasonable. Sadly not anymore.

Service was great and food was out to us very quickly. Unfortunately a few hours after dinner I got very very sick and this has undoubtedly impacted our holiday and our ability to do the things we wanted to do. Absolutely gutted.

Bof.....home zero, service more than average and big tambouille on the plate Burgers are better at Burger king Greek salad with vegetables (cut with axe.......) And all for the small sum of 150 dollars to 4 with just one dish and one drink So... to flee

Quick & Attentive Service, Fast well-prepared and tasty food, Fair prices for NYC. Would I dine here again? It is the only place I dine for a regular breakfast in NYC. Would I recommend it to others? Yes.

Nothing better than breakfast at a New York City diner. Fresh coffee, pancakes and cinnamon raisin French toast is a treat. Very fresh and the service is amazing, smiles everywhere.

We needed to find a place before a broadway show and happened upon Red Flame Diner. Personally I love a diner and Red Flame did not disappoint. The food was great, the service even better!

Late breakfast, excellent service, menu, cost decent, food good, close proximity to Radio City Music Hall.

We had a late morning breakfast on a Sunday. The place was busy, but got right in. Very friendly atmosphere and clean. We ordered omelettes and were very happy with our food and service. A little pricey, but probably not by NYC standards.

One of my favorite spots in NYC. Always good and easy. Nothing fancy, but it is a true New York City. It will make you feel like a local.

We stayed with our two children (10 and 7) for breakfast here and everything was very delicious. The staff are super friendly and attentive. The food is all freshly prepared. We definitely come back here for breakfast.

We have serious aIIergies, asked about the menu and were toId they were aII au fait! These aIIergies are Serious, not a IifestyIe choice! The cashier woman stared at us aII through our meaI, we came back a second time as we had difficulty getting food unadulterated with sauces etc which we cannot risk for possible aIIergens, Both occasions we were stared at by this woman, the waiters were prompt but took some persuading that the food we wanted had to have no sauces, just the meat & unsaIted fries, Upon arrival we found it was mediocre at best, but with what's on offer in NY city, this is the best of a bad bunch! We visited twice as nowhere eIse couId acommodate us properIy, in the end, neither couId this pIace, The second visit being way worse than our first Second visit as we ate our meaI, the chef gloated at us from the kitchen, shaking his head, we Ieft quickly, but not before we were overcharged by the woman on the door after she pointed to the most expensive option for service charge, we said No, & pointed on the receipt which one we wanted to pay, We were hastily given the card reader & it appeared to read what we said, but on getting back to our hoteI we had paid the top service charge, This diner claims to cater for aII dietary requirements, & was recommended by a friend who knows of our aIIergies, First visit we bIamed a snack in the day for reactions, Returned here for a meaI as other pIaces couldn't cater for us, We discovered on returning to our hoteI that one of us began to have a severe reaction to our food, Possibly the utensils used to cook with or the boards used weren't cIean, but a very uncomfortable situation occurred & we considered caIIing a doctor as our meds took too Iong to have an effect, So if you have serious aIIergies give this pIace a big body swerve, they cIearIy don't know what they are doing & their attitude towards aIIergies are obviously that its a IifestyIe choice & not a Life threatening condition, The attitude of the cashier & chefs Ieave a Iot to be desired, The onIy reason we went back was because the first meaI appeared to be ok, & NYC is seriously Iacking in knowIedge of catering for aIIeries in its eateries, we had few choices, this was the onIy pIace we couId find near us, the other was in Queens!

We’ve stopped in many times but with the holiday crowd they exceeded expectations! Keeping the wait time to a minimum without rushing diners. The meals were excellent as always, with a wonderful menu that has many options for all diets. A must for your dining options.

We were tired and hungry after a hard day’s shopping and sightseeing. Just fancied a typical New York diner- this hit the spot! I had feta and spinach pie with a greek salad and a beer. My friends had tuna melts, burgers and a smoked salmon bagel. Was delicious !! Definitely recommend

Can't fault it. Nice American style diner. Massive portions. Server was very nice Food good. Fair price for NYC. recommended

This restaurant was 3 doors down from out hotel. I went in to order a carry out Greek salad. It was fantastic. To my surprise there were stuffed grapes with it! Very good and big. Glad I went in.

Great diner. Food is delicious, comes out quickly. Service is typical diner. Efficient and somewhat friendly. They get the job done. Can’t ask for more.

First morning in NYC and visited the Red Flame Diner - amazing breakfast, huge portions and tasted really good. Highly recommend!

This was my first experience here and enjoyed it very much. My server, Sergio, was outstanding and a pleasure to have breakfast with :-) this place is clean, well run and a great choice for a quick, fun, NYC traditional meal. My breakfast order, two eggs, bacon, whole wheat toast, and a latte was very good. The only issue was over cooked bacon but Sergio changed it out immediately with a smile.

We love this diner! Very convenient location for the theater district. We eat a late breakfast or early lunch here every time we are in Manhattan for Broadway shows. The service is excellent. The food is very good typical diner food. Prices are reasonable. I definitely recommend! Please note: They no longer charge extra for using a credit card. Instead, they offer a discount if you pay cash, but you MUST ask for the discount from the cashier when paying. If you do not ask, you will NOT get the discount!

This was recommended to me by my cousin, and she was right. Food was very quick, great service and amazing breakfast food from an extensive menu. I had pancakes with sausages and loved every bite! My husband had french toast with eggs and bacon, nothing was wasted. Refill coffee for him and chocolate milk for me (6 months pregnant with a sweet tooth). Would eat here every week if it were in England, will definitely go again if I visit NY.

Solid breakfast at medium-high prices for a diner. Omelettes we’re large and tasty, home fries were crispy. Good, attentive service.

I have eaten twice downstairs and once upstairs. Great diner, prompt service and a fair price. Much better option than an overpriced sandwich, many healthy choices. I am happy to have found a nice diner that will satisfy a business person or a theater goer any day of the week. Would be good for a family or students that want a good meal and willing to forego a silly price at designer restauramt.

Great experience for breakfast. Staff were very helpful and pleasant, the food was very good. We went back for lunch and once again the food was of a good standard.

Saw this place recommended on a Facebook group and wanted to experience a classic American diner, this fitted the bill perfectly. Had a cliché breakfast of pancakes and syrup with coffee. Was fine but nothing special, good service reasonable prices. It is what it is and you can’t really go wrong with it.

We spent the Thanksgiving week in the city at the Hilton Garden Inn 2 blocks over and my finicky family and I ate here every morning and several lunches also. Growing up in a large city myself I searched out a Diner for our trip and this one was exceptional in their service and food quality. Always hot and fresh and professional. All of our waitresses were excellent and Maria was our favorite. I worried about meals for my family as they are difficult to take out in public sometimes but again, they enjoyed their meals very much and left nothing on their plates as they do many times when we do eat out together. My grandson is a hamburger aficionado and he said their burger was the best.

Our family of five was seated quickly even though the place was full. The waitresses and many bus boys did a great job servicing tables. The burgers were good, the moussaka was just ok, the turkey club was missing mayonnaise and the cake was dry and old; but they kept the coffee coming and it was good place to relax for a moment. You will feel rushed to finish and leave, but this is how they were able to seat us so fast. $20 for most meals. Nothing to write home about, but we left full.

Dîner for regular breakfast Nothing fancy No fresh orange juice Very good fluffy pancakes. Fresh fruits were not super good but place is clean

The Red Flame Diner is the closest diner to my hotel. Since there are days I don’t feel like spending $30 for my breakfast, I’ll visit this diner that’s less than a block away from my hotel. The food is good to average, but you get consistent quality. I’ve never been here that I did not enjoy my meal…so, it’s a no nonsense place. Worth a visit if you stay in NY for a significant amount of time… but if you are in town for just a few days, you are better off in a different place to eat.

Great place for breakfast in the heart of Manhattan. Service was excellent and the food was quite good. Pricey but normal for the area.

AMAZING. Perfect diner experience. Huge variety and choice. Great menu for all times of day and types of food. THE BEST SERVICE. All help needed was provided and it was just a great diner. Near hotels for ease. Nice atmosphere and setup. Would recommend and not too busy. The food was great portions and extremely nice (best croissants ever).

My biggest tip to you - have breakfast, lunch, or dinner at the Red Flame Diner a few doors down from Times Square.- excellent pricing and great food. Staff was excellent

Pros - very efficient, good omelette and excellent coffee (I like bunn machines but that may not be your thing). Cons- the staff is always hovering. It’s as if the owner said I want everyone in and out. They hover to take your order and they hover to get to leave even when there is no line. I hope the owner is paying them a fair wage and gives them their tips.I should have handed it to her in cash.

Great diner breakfast food. Food price for New York. Staff was overall New York friendly. Quick service. Would return.

Recommended this diner and we had a good breakfast- not amazing but good service, clean and good food! Servers attentive and a good breakfast selection.

Nice diner, fast service, food was good but not exceptional, but at a good price. I enjoyed visiting and felt we got good value for money, with prompt and friendly service.

Great spot for a quick breakfast! Really busy and popular but service was super quick and we grabbed a couple of seats at the bar. Good food at a reasonable price and friendly staff, what more do you need from a diner?

The place is non stop. Great classics on the menu. I had the salmon/bagel/ cream cheese combo. Very good. Coffee could be a bit stronger but warm beverage anyway on a cold day. The service is quick and professional.

The Red Flame Diner serves great breakfasts, are super-fast and clean. It can also be an expensive breakfast. Don’t be surprised at breakfast for 2 at $48 (French toast and 1 egg with bacon) and then the taxes and mandatory tip take you to $60. So look at the specials and be careful or ordering a la carte. Nice having a coat rack to use as some of the booths are small.

3 days in New York and our family of 7 went back for a second breakfast at red flame.. Food was great and the staff were so welcoming and attentive..

Lots of staff. Good American old fashioned food. Very friendly. Interior is a bit plain but comfortable. Will definitely come again

A diner very near Times Square, but with very reasonable prices. The service was prompt, curtious and professional. The food was very good. The portions were generous. I definitely recommend. Please note: Use of a credit card does result in a service charge!

We love the Red Flame Diner. It is a quiet clean friendly spot in the big city. It feels like a refuge amidst so many restaurants. We had been here pre-Covid and remembered it from four years ago. It was great then and still so good. It offers an eclectic menu, so it can please everyone. We have a picky son, so it gave him many choices. There is breakfast, diner food, Italian, and more. I had a Belgian waffle that was delicious. My husband had the lasagna. He said it was the best he'd had in NYC. My son had the curly fries; he loved them. We watched the other plates come out. I saw a wrap delivered and it looked amazing. I never order wraps, but I would. Salads, too, looked so good. The service is wonderful, and the hostess, so sweet. We came back after our show, for dessert. We had cheesecake. It was perfect. We will definitely come back every time we are in the city. It's location is so easy and we highly recommend it.

We had lunch while visiting new york Service is very good food was ok I would say average good for families place. Price was fair bit not cheep

We went for breakfast today. It was very busy which is always a good sign. Good no nonsense food and service. Was nice to try a more local diner that a large chain. Staff were all working very hard.

We had breakfast there for three mornings. Wide choice of dishes ranging from classic eggs (offered in different ways) with bacon etc., to omelettes (also vegetarian) to sweet options, mostly pancakes and waffles, but also muffins and croissants. Fast service, even too…. Price within the norm for the area…

We stopped in for breakfast while in the city. If your looking for a basic diner meal / experience then this is the place for you. Clean and fast service.

Handy location for a more authentic diner experience for breakfast. It’s not cheap but it is a city. Service is ok. Almost too quick. A few more smiles from staff would help. Food is ok. Nothing too exciting.

Busy diner but seated very quickly. The food here was excellent for breakfast with a wide choice . It's also very well priced in comparison with other places in New York. Highly recommended

Other than being really crowded, everything was top notch. Service, food and experience was the best. Rather large portions for the average person. Highly recommend.

Great place for a quick bite. Interior very roomy. Food was good, staff was great, service was fast.

My friend and I had a breakfast there and the food was good but the atmosphere hectic, I couldn't just settle and feel I could take my time and have a conversation with my friend.

Fourth time visiting New York and had breakfast here every day. Very close to our hotel, however would come here anyway as food and service is alway excellent. Lively place with many tables and a huge menu.

I stopped here for dinner and thought it was very good. Service was great and my meal was very good. I had the chopped steak with mashed potatoes. It also came with chicken soup. The interior of the diner was nice and very clean, as well. Would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for that diner experience in NYC.

We dined here twice for breakfast during our 4 night stay in NYC. We had visited the Red Flame every time we have been to New York since 2002 and it is still as good as the first time we came. The service is quick and efficient and the food high quality. The menu is wide ranging and very accommodating for all our breakfast preferences! Plenty of water and coffee (with plenty of milk) were on offer the coffee refill guy was a star!! The eggs were cooked to perfection and the breakfast potatoes were nice. That being said, our table was rather small both times meaning we were rather squashed in! I would definitely recommend for a quick traditional diner breakfast.

We had breakfast here on a recent visit to NYC. It appeared to be a local businessman's hang out based on the number of professional looking clothing and cell phones. Not bad, not exceptional, just good food to start the day.

First time visiting to NYC with my partner. This was our first full day in NYC after getting to our hotel late the day before. We decided to have a wonder around and came across this diner. We went it hoping to get something nice to eat for breakfast - the food was lovely. The service was fantastic, happy, friendly people. I think in total me abs my partner walked in the diner, sat down, had drinks, placed our order, ate & paid in about 30/40 minutes with no rush from the staff. Will be coming back here

Long-standing diner near the theatre district. Reasonable prices for the pricey midtown area. Matzoh ball soup, omelettes, sandwiches, salads, daily specials. Helpful, efficient staff. Used to meet a friend here for a simple dinner after work. Glad that it’s still around

Took breakfast here during a long weekend as our (Kitchen-less) hotel recommended it. Clean facilities, outside seating and not too expensive. Plenty of choice - oatmeal, eggs and waffles all tried and liked. Service and coffee refills were very quick too.

Short walk from Casablanca or other Bryant Park area hotels. Very extensive Diner menu. We had breakfast twice. Breakfast special, omelet, home fries, toast, coffee, juice a fair value and really tasty. Omelet, toast. home fries made exactly to perfection. Will be back next trip.

Solid diner in Midtown Manhattan. Large place with plenty of tables. Service was efficient and my breakfast was very good. Fair prices by NYC standards.

Became a little favorite during our trip. Quiet environment with retro feel, good classic American food with good service and reasonable prices.

I've been back to Red Flame on all my visits to the City. He never let me down. Excellent quality of food with slightly lower than average prices. Dining in Time Square has become the stuff of the rich but here away the right compromise. Very kind staff. They have no gluten-free bread

Dropped by for a breakfast. They have a good selection of omelettes, which you can have with tomatoes and lettuce, toasted bread and coffee. Food is served quickly by friendly staff, who will keep the coffee coming until it fills your veins...

We were looking forward to going here as a different option to our hotel but it was disappointing. Waitress was miserable, food overpriced - pancakes came with 4 rashers of bacon. Wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t return.

Local to NYC - always see this place (live in the atea) and decided to go for breakfast one morning. Everything was great - got a club sandwich and SMALL orange juice. Waitress never came back after bringing over the condiments/utensils - not even to bring me the bill. Once done eating I got up to go the register to pay. The lady said you got a club sandwich and LARGE orange juice right? I was like “it was a SMALL.” The waitress had rang me up for a large even though I specifically remember telling her I only wanted a SMALL. The lady at the register went to go address this with waitress in which the waitress stood on her lie. Minimal in the grand retrospect, I just don’t appreciate being called a liar/being taken advantage of….when I just trying to eat breakfast. Still tipped 20% (only because it’s the holidays and I understand life is hard). - the end

Had Brunch here. Clean venue with reasonable prices . Food was typical diner. Good service with large portions of Diner food . Fairly busy and obviously a popular place with tourists and local businesspeople . You can’t go wrong with a decent meal at a fair price

We went in December 2022 to have a typical American breakfast with pancakes, toast, eggs and bacon and we had very good memories of the real dinner. This year, we found the service, the welcome down and a real increase in prices in one year. The eggs benedict were average and lukewarm, the American coffee poor quality and the prices high. We were quite disappointed. I don't necessarily recommend The Red Flame Diner.

An incredible find! The Red Flame Diner, located a few doors down from our hotel, is everything one could want from a diner and much, much more. Tasty food, extensive menu, excellent and efficient service – everything we ate was delicious! (It’s a Greek diner and they even make a mean Matzoh Ball Soup!) We went for breakfast and lunch and thoroughly enjoyed each visit. Granted, NYC has tons of great diners and restaurants, and granted, this occasional NYC tourist only has eaten at a small sample size. This being said, the Red Flame Diner is the best diner I’ve ever experienced!

We visited for breakfast and had a great experience. We were seated almost immediately, someone took our drinks order and shortly afterwards, someone took our food order. 10 minutes later we were tucking in to eggs, sausage, crispy bacon, corned beef hash and brown toast. All cooked to perfection with several top ups of coffee. Marvellous and well worth the money!

We stayed at a nearby hotel and ate breakfast here 3 mornings straight. It was quick and delicious with friendly service. All the normal breakfast items: omelets, pancakes, biscuits, etc. It was so good we didn't even want to try anything else during our stay as it was so easy at 7am to eat good breakfast! Enjoy

We were staying at a local hotel (Hudson Hotel) but decided to try the breakfast here. There was 7 of us and each time we went In we were seated straight away. Food was excellent and service was fun and fast. Coffee and Tea kept on being refilled which was good. Would definantly recommend if you were in the area.

The Red Flame is well located in New York near the library and Grand Central Terminal. We were met at the door with a big smile and taken to a large booth we liked. First impression is that the restaurant is clean and super efficient and nothing changed that perception. Our waitress appeared quickly and offered us coffee and our cups were never allowed to get below half full. The breakfast menu is extensive and we selected a traditional egg, sausage and hashed browns one along with the Greek omelette - feta, spinach, mushroom and tomato. Both arrived quickly, hot and delicious...a perfect start to a New York City day. Well priced, too, by NYC standards!

Omelets were the breakfast of choice today. Great juices and fresh coffee. Italian omelet just awesome with home fries. Nice to sit upstairs and view outside.

To recommend. Having had breakfast there several times, I found a restaurant with welcoming staff, good quality meals and at reasonable prices for New York.

Popped in for breakfast today Last came 6 years ago and hasn't changed at all. The service was fantastic, the staff are amazing - friendly and welcoming and so attentive. If you only visit one diner during your stay, make it this one. Fabulous experience.

The doorman at the Hyatt Centric recommended the Red Flame and we were glad we tried it. We went three out of four mornings and were lucky to get a booth each time without waiting and a high chair for our toddler. Service is attentive and the kitchen is fast. Loved the pancakes - very fluffy and light.

We ate breakfast here twice during our visit to New York. It was a great diner experience. The food was great. Service was really good and prompt if you are in a hurry. It can get really busy.

We got lured in by the bison burgers- which were delicious, pretty big and not expensive. Basic diner food in a diner setting... good service and prices not too bad for the touristy area we were in.

We first visited the Red Flame diner over 15yrs ago, and always come here for breakfast when visiting New York. They open early and we never had a problem getting a table (at around 7am!). Great breakfast selection, coffee cup constantly refilled by friendly staff. You probably can get a cheaper breakfast in the vicinity but for quality and choice you cannot beat the Red Flame.

Ordered our Food 30mins later food arrived cold ,sent back ,20 mins later arrived again cold ,sent back again,,they didn't seem bothered, walked out in the end.

The food is good and the service is fast. Good omelettes, waffles, bagels. Just a good breakfast place.

We when there for both an after theatre snack and for breakfast one morning. The late night was splitting a chicken salad sandwich and cheesecake, both were excellent. Breakfast was 2 eggs over easy with toast, bacon and ham, all perfect. Very nice staff and super service.

David W loves it and so do I - always a lovely time and Maggie is something else! If you are in NYC be sure to check it out

Big portions and fast service. Eggs were perfectly sunside up and corned beef hash was good. Standard diner look which you have to do visiting New York.

Great diner for classic NY breakfast food. Right in the heart of town. Very popular so there maybe a little wait for a table. The service is also excellent !

Used the diner twice so far, breakfast is really good, staff are lovely, might have to queue but worth it. Good value for money, great menu

This is a real diner, almost out of place on fashionable and eclectic W 44th Street, but serves the traditional range of breakfast and lunch options, including breakfast specials by number and a great sandwich selection. Waits tend to be short because tables turn. Reasonable prices and perfect for families with kids. Close to Bryant Park.

I've been here for breakfast a couple of times. You can get pretty much anything you could ask for at breakfast. Food is great (especially the pankakes), as is the juice and coffee. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Will be back.

I love a good diner with a big varied menu. The Red Flame Diner checks all of those boxes with classic diner fair. The food was delicious and the service was great. Our lunch was perfect. We were very pleased we chose to walk into the Red Flame Diner. Definitely recommended.

Delicious food. Had the Gyros and for dessert rice pudding. Reasonable prices and quick to serve. Not as expensive as some of the other restaurants in the area and didn't have to worry about getting a seat or meal.

Originally a bit fearul given some of the recent reviews but our experience was great. Convenient location in midtown, extensive menu, food well-prepared, staff attentive and friendly. We went for a late (10am) breakfast as well as a late (3pm) lunch and were pleased. Also happy with the check (for midtown...)

Two couples visiting New York City to see the Christmas decorations. We were looking for a place to have lunch and found this diner. They have a good choice to order from and the food was good. The service was quick and friendly.

This place had great service, food and was a great overall experience. I highly recommended if looking for a diner in New York City.

Service was so attentive and efficient!! Refills of coffee and water offered - how nice the staff were!! The place was so clean and every table was filled .. goes to show that this place really was great!! The food was so delicious- we had an egg omelette with spinach/feta and my daughter had chocolate chip pancakes!! I would highly recommend this place!! It was an awesome breakfast!!

Have the German Omelette! Big portions and very attentive wait staff! You won’t have to ask for anything because even though it is very busy, your waiter/waitress is on the ball and makes sure you have everything you need. Huge selection of food. The German Omelette was full of flavor and came with home style potatoes, toast, coffee and Oj.

Not the place for a leisurely breakfast. Waitress wants your order now. The coffee was good. The bacon was overdone but I think that’s how it is done here. Eggs good. Nice authentic diner experience. A bit pricey, but it’s New York.

Great service and lovely food in a lovely little New York Diner just off Times Square. Handy if you’re staying in the Hyatt Centrica 🙂🙂 a little gem

My husband and I have just spent a week in New York and during this time we ate at the Red Flame Diner four occasions. Every visit the food was excellent and the service provided by the staff was efficient and friendly. We would have no hesitation in recommending this diner and we look forward to returning next time we visit New York. We’ll done guys.

we at breakfast at the Red Flame (our hotel gave us complimentary $10 vouchers). i would recommend it

The menu was surprisingly extensive for a diner. The food was good and large portions, the service was fast and friendly. Fantastic location walking distance to our hotel.

Great American breakfast. The soft pancakes and also the French toast .. although I would have liked a little more fruit, instead, there were 4 strawberries. The cappuccino nothing exciting.

Been there on 1st of December. Ordered chicken sandwich and that ruined my whole day and next.. Haven't been so sick in a long time. Please void this place if you dont want your holiday to be spoiled!

We had breakfast at the Red Flame Diner twice on our recent trip. It is located right next to The Algonquin hotel (don’t stay there) on 44th between 6th and Broadway. Great breakfast and good prices. The staff is friendly and on top of their service. Good coffee too. 😊
Good breakfasts, not dinner
The breakfasts and desserts looked amazing but we ordered dinner food and it was just average food nothing special.
