We went for Sunday brunch. One ordered their fried chicken which was excellent. two of us ordered the avocado toast which was disappointing. Not enough for anyone hungry. ONe small piece of toast with great toppings but two pieces of toast would have been a better meal. Covering 2/3 of the plate with arugula looks great but not a meal to start the day..

For us, this is a neighborhood restaurant that is great for foodies, families, a group gathering, the bar scene or just a good overall meal. We had the Restaurant week special and it did not disappoint; nice choices and more than enough food. I have to say 3 of the 4 of us ate the Lobster and shrimp in curry and it was outstanding. One thing that can be difficult to endure is the noise level unless you are in and out before 7 pm expect it to get loud, very loud. Other than that, there are delicious choices for everyone. 4 out of 5 only because of the noise.

A lot of chain restaurants in the area, but this one is just a block away from Times Square and so much better. Nice menu and wine list. Large restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The food was very good, a decent portion, and reasonable.

I had the pleasure of dining at The Ribbon during its opening week. This new Times Square establishment did not disappoint! Located right in the heart of NYC you have the feel of a neighborhood restaurant. Started off the meal with delicious oysters, amazing buffalo cauliflower and an avocado grilled to perfection. I followed this up with the Ribbon Steak which melted in your mouth. Although I was full I could not pass on the Monkey Bread for dessert and was happy I didn't. Between the food and the wonderful staff I cannot wait for my next time I get to dine at The Ribbon!

Great food, caring staff, atmosphere, reasonable prices! Thank You @theribbonnyc for helping make this birthday girl feel extra special! The food was delish (tomato soup, Caesar salad wi grilled salmon, risotto & burgers). The chef came out to describe the Foie Gras (tourchon not pan seared so I passed) and later cooked the salmon perfectly (medium rare center, pan seared with crisp outer layer and no fat). The creamed based tomato soup was good; as were the Caesar salad with salmon, risotto, and plain hamburgers. The portions were big. The service was outstanding: The chef stopping by and manager, hostess, server and runners stopping by many times to bring water, food courses or see how everything was. The food course timing was perfect. The atmosphere was quiet for NYC, we were in a nice booth and there was great ambiance. The prices, especially for NYC were reasonable. The “off menu” children’s menu was a nice touch with variety (burgers, pasta, flat bread). The highlight, however, was the unexpected birthday treat and dessert (mango sorbet and vanilla ice cream) candle and singing. THANK YOU again! We will be back and I’m already telling everyone what a fantastic place this is! Go to The Ribbon in mid town! You will love it and they will treat you like the “double digit awesome kid” you and they are.

Reservation for 4 at 6pm on a Thursday evening during the week before Christmas. We were seated in a very timely manner. The restaurant is not loud, very enjoyable and conducive to table conversation. Service was excellent, including a visit to our table from the manager. We all ate their famous gourmet burgers - excellent, melt-in-your-mouth ground beef, even those cooked to well-done temperature. The skinny fries were delicious, light and crispy. Dessert: we cannot recommend enough MONKEY BREAD! Yum! Best of all, this restaurant was the best value of all the Times Square Theater District venues we enjoyed. Location immediately across from the Shubert makes this a perfect pre-show dinner recommendation!

Was walking by with my girlfriend and saw the ‘happy hour’ sign and decided to see what’s up. Ribbon was totally amazing! You have to see this place. We had Oysters, burgers and all different types of beers. Super fun!

We went to the UWS location two night in a room because the food was so good and our waitor, Massimo was excellent. We requested him the second night. Drinks were unique and tasty, and the dessert was awesome! It was a little noisy around the bar, so if you're looking for quiet, request a table in the back.

Really yummy brisket meal. The fresh pretzel appetizer is good but small for the price. We liked this spot. Our Seamless delivery came fast from here and food was perfectly warm when it arrived.

Stopped for a drink prior To Kill A Mockingbird. Classic looking place with really cool historical pictures on the wall. Full bar service, attentive service. Breakfast served here too. Nice place

We tried the Ribbon for the first time on a recent cold Sat. night. We had an early reservation and were seated right away. The place was already pretty full. We sat in the rear near the open kitchen. Service was efficient and friendly. The food was tasty. I had the chicken liver mousse with challah toast. Quite delicious. Then the meatballs with a side of mashed potatoes. Also very good. My wife shared with me and also had a large salad. My glass of wine was generous. Prices are moderate for NYC. Nothing to complain about here. We were too full for dessert or coffee.

I had seen an ad for the Ribbon and made a mental note to stop in. After a movie recently, I decided on an early dinner and went in. It was originally a Guy Fiero enterprise but has not metamorphisized into the Ribbon. It is a very large space on two levels-as you walk in there is a large bar and multiple high top tables for seating-this is set up for happy hour or a pre-theater drink. As you go up a set of steps, there is a main dining area with more seating around a corner. I was given a menu and a wine list and decided on the bacon cheddar burger which came with lettuce and tomato. It was a large burger cooked medium well which I had asked for. The waitress came back several times to see if I needed anything else. This burger came with shoestring fried which were cooked perfectly. the service was quick, attentive and I would recommend and return-especially if I were pre or post theater for a meal or a drink.

Went to The Ribbon for brunch while in the city visiting friends and was not disappointed! Service was nice but a bit spotty; the food was fantastic. We ordered the banana-pecan loaf with cream cheese filling for the table. It was warm when it arrived at the table and was absolutely delicious. The chilaquiles roja was wonderful, as good if not better than I’ve had in a Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant is very cool. Great brunch spot!

Came here for dinner on a casual date night. The food is very good and the restaurant has a lively atmosphere. I had the half Amish chicken and my date had the Ribbon steak (hanger steak) - both meals were delicious.

Had lunch there and was so impressed. The food was amazing and the servers were very cute. I mean that can’t hurt right? Honestly they were very sweet and knowledgeable about the food. They also let us hold up a table for a while because it was raining and we had walked there. It’s truly a great place! Will definetly go back when i visit nyc again

Christmas dinner on the 24th of December with the family, Christmas menu would also have been possible. Table reservation is recommended.

Dinner spoiled by dog next to us, who knocked over his water bowl onto our feet and strained on his leash to reach us. I'm not sure why people think it's OK to bring dogs to a nice restaurants, and why management allows them (pets, not service dogs). In fact, management was oblivious to our discomfort and missed these folks feeding their dog water from the water glasses. The food was OK, but not enough to overcome the place going to the dogs.

I enjoyed everything about my lunch here. The location, ambiance, wait staff, and food were all great. I was there early; the restaurant became busier as time went on. The vegetable risotto was delicious.

Steaks, fish and vegan options. No parking available but great servers. The cod fish dish is more like a garlic with watery sauce. Meats cooked more on the rare side of request. Great if you like rare. Great barrel draft red wines. Good deal on happy hour drinks and appetizers.

My husband and I had never been here before but our hosts had and they told us all the meat dishes are really good. Among the very tempting meat dishes on the menu was roast prime rib, one of my favorites. It is offered in two sizes: Quern’s cut and King’s cut. I ordered the smaller cut, medium rare. It was exactly the way I ordered it, delicious and huge, and I ate it all! The shrimp cocktail we shared as an appetizer was very good and so was the asparagus I ordered as a side. Service was just okay but there were 17 of us, so that couldn’t have been easy!

The food quality was good. Just there aren't a lot of options. Went for a business lunch and considering the location it was really empty. If you are only going to go once you'll find something you like. Service was average

Great Happy Hour with tasty oysters and nice variety of beers on tap. Dinner with appetizer was also excellent as was the service. Ordered a double expresso coffee with Sambuca, then cancelled it when the waiter told me the bar has no Sambuca (no Sambuca in a classy restaurant with a supposedly fully-stocked bar). Ordered a Cappuccino Coffee which turned out to be just so-so (actually not very good). Other than that, we were very satisfied and would go back.

It's a great feeling when you don't plan ahead and quickly pick a place for dinner on a Friday night and it turns out being a great time. I read a few other reviews before writing mine and I just have to laugh. I laugh when people are shocked because a place falls short of their expectations and rate a place low with no valid reason. My experience: I love the atmosphere of The Ribbon, from their decor, layout and clientele. As soon as you walk in, you get this sense of energy and excitement knowing that you're going to have a good time. The Food: Everything we selected was great. This particular night we had the baked meatballs to start, the Pig Club, the Fried Chicken and chocolate chip bread pudding. Between my wife and I we enjoyed 4 cocktails which brings me to another Yelper's review and complaint about value. They stated they only had 2 cocktails and no desert and paid $200 between 2 people. Everything I listed (app, 2-entrees, desert, 4 cocktails =$170) I can't finish without mentioning the best fried chicken I ever had. This chicken is so good, 2 separate parties told me how they were jealous that I got the last order (post happy hour)

Great food, fantastic atmosphere. Their fried chicken is to sour for good. Every hung was delicious and the service was fantastic. Love the vintage book they let you take with as a momento.

We dined at the Ribbon this past weekend and loved the food and ambiance. The restaurant was only opened 3 weeks in this location and that may explain some of the delays in service as the staff are getting accustomed to volume. The manager credited the cost of after dinner drinks because of delay in service. The food was outstanding and the proximity to theaters makes it a first choice for us. We will go back often!

So many menu options - everyone in our group found something perfect to order and were very very happy with their dinner. Cocktails were great, appetizers (chicken bacon cheddar sausage! baked meatballs! buffalo cauliflower! grilled avocado!) were beyond amazing. Prime Rib, Strip Steak and The Ribbon Steak did not disappoint, while the Shrimp and Lobster Curry was a delight. Save room for decadent desserts. Tip: Ideal pre-theatre spot, although be sure to come back and enjoy this place a second night after the pre-theatre rush leaves. Perfect for large groups and families while also impressive for date nights.

How often do you get fried chicken in a NYC restaurant? Great food- burger, fries, fried chicken, deviled eggs, cheese board & beer selection. Deviled eggs with jalapeños! All three cheeses were great, too. Used open table reservation. Great service. Large bar area was loud and crowded-ish even early in the evening. Dining area was less loud and tables nicely spaced so you aren’t too close to next table. They had a nice separate room that was secluded- great for a larger party just right of the bar as you walk in.

The Ribbon was a great choice for our first night in New York! The ambiance was hip and fun! The food was great and the service was good. It was within walking distance of our hotel and the theater so it worked out really well! Great dinner find!

As a birthday treat for me while visiting NYC, we went to The Ribbon - 4 adults and two young boys. The food was great and the wait staff were mindful of the two young ones and made sure their food was delivered quickly. We had an alcove seat from where we could see into the kitchens. we were there early - 5.30pm but it soon filled. A lovely evening.

We dined here on our daughter's recommendation, and were not disappointed. It was close to Strawberry Fields, the memorial to John Lennon, just a few steps into Central Park over the road at the end of the street. We visited the "Imagine" plaque just before we visited the restaurant at 20 West 72nd Street. The food was good. I had a burger, which came with a splendid piquant sauce and fries, and my wife raved about the vegetable risotto which she said was excellent. The dessert was a fabulous key lime pie. Its taste was exquisite. The ambience was unique. Make sure you visit the bathrooms to appreciate the heritage architecture and décor of this grand old building!

My sisters and I had a lovely dinner before seeing one of the Broadway shows. The manager was very concerned with our satisfaction with our meal. The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. Prices were reasonable.

The decor is spectacular. Higb ceilings and vintage NYC Times Square photos adorn the walls. Elegant crystal chndeliers and unique antiques line the shelves. Great sound system and live dj keeping the mood right. Excellent food from the blue ribbon team. And crisp service by professionals. Very good craft cocktails ( mr. Pimms my favorite and a close second the apricot smash) and solid wines by the glass Plenty of great starters the chicken soup/ buffalo cauliflowr/ and solid meat and cheese platters. Entrees are equally excellent salmon / bronzino and rotisserie chicken are stand outs. Very good sides like world class french fries and mashed potatoes as well as out of the world spetzle, nice carrots too. Desserts are very good with the “ monkey bread” a real show stopper though key lime pie a close second.

A 30-minute wait for a beer & a drink; total tab for 2 beers & 2 drinks $50! $2 surcharge because the cocktail was a mixed drink? Are you kidding me? This is not NYC sticker shock - I LIIVE here, unacceptable, will never return!

With lots of fun Halloween decorations. Was seated upstairs. Llts of beautiful black and white pics on the walls. $46 3-course menu. Delicious through and through. Very good cocktails. Knowledgeable waiter.

The location is very nice, a big place with a nice atmosphere. The food is good, although we only had a dessert and a glass of wine, thus I’m not sure about other plates. The service is good.

the bloody mary option card is a cute touch, but no price listed? The corned beef hash with poached eggs and hollandaise did not list the "greens" that would be served with it-- looked like broccoli, kale? and asparagus; fine is we knew about it, but no broc for hubby EVER. The burger was good. The place is huge ... goes back far and far.

Had a nice brunch today with Violet & Mariel here. Violet had the bacon burger with fries, delicious. Mariel had the fried chicken sandwich but she felt it was tough. I had the avocado toast with poached egg on top that was delish! The mimosas were out of site too.

This place has great cocktails; a bit pricey; about 18.00 per specialty cocktail but they are good! We had the Pineapple Mule, which was okay, the Franconio, which was better than the mule and a dessert wine, and the Strawberry Fields Forever, which was FANTASTIC!!! Get that one for sure! We also ordered the Butcher Block Appetizer Platter. It had (from the menu) all three cheeses, cured meats, pickled veggies, two types of paté, some kind hummus, and a platter of toasted breads. Everything was very tasty!

Reasonably priced restaurant in the heart of the theater district. Not gourmet by any sense of the word but the food and portions were solid. Good for large groups and you can certainly take kids as it is a big and noisy restaurant. Would eat there again.

My favorite part of the meal was our Buffalo Cauliflower which was amazing. It is noisy and crowded but the menu has a wide variety of options and everything we had was terrific.

Good theater district restaurant. The egg and veggie dish was great as was avocado toast. On the pricey side.

If I could review less than one star I would. I made a reservation in the private dining room and three weeks *after* I had made it (and even exchanged emails with the manager about a menu), got a call informing me that the restaurant was closed that night for a private event and that they could not accommodate my previously confirmed reservation. This call came less than two weeks prior to me event leaving me scrambling for another venue. Absolutely furious and will never go back there again - even had they offered me a comp meal as an apology (which, by the way, being not that sorry, they did not) I wouldn't have taken them up on it. Add to that that the food is just okay for the price.

Large restaurant with multiple sports bar televisions set up for viewing from long community tables. They offer higher end bar food and decent, straightforward, comfort food in a pleasant neighbourhood near Central Park. Although they were not busy on a Monday night at 8 pm, the young reservation girl put us at the far back of the restaurant right next to the kitchen where staff congregate. General service was acceptable but the pushy male waiter who was full of himself placed the wine glass on my left, clumsily spilled some beer while serving the others and never bothered to return to clean it up. I had to ask another person for napkins to absorb the spill on the table. As the prices here are above average I don’t find below average service acceptable.

Had a fantastic time here last night. Excellent food, phenomenal service and a great atmosphere to go with it all. Our waitress Alexandra was fantastic and was super professional, thank you for that! We had a blueberry whisky sour, kale salad , a watermelon salad and the BBQ fest to top it off. The ribs as part of the BBQ fest were mouthwatering and demicious, so were the sausages, brisket and corn. Overall great time, thank you and look forward to coming again.

The Ribbon is a cozy neighborhood place and sip cocktails and have a meal. The room is inviting. The fried chicken is good - not outstanding. The cocktails are more memorable than the food. The staff is attentive.

Happy hour ends at 7, so if that's your thing, make sure you get there before 7. The bar is well stocked and there's ample seating! The restaurant itself has an interesting menu, with some standards mixed in with unusual choices. Service is attentive, presentation is good.

We were looking for a place to eat after seeing a show and someone overheard us and suggested The Ribbon just two doors away from where we were standing. We were so happy with this restaurant! The food was delicious and reasonable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We were invited to choose old books from the shelves around the restaurant to take home as a souvenir of our time there. All in all, this is a great place to enjoy a meal after seeing a show near Times Square.

We ate here for Thanksgiving evening. Great service and good food. We had the mussels, burgers, a couple dozen oysters and many drinks. Comfortable dining experience. will be back

Located next door to the Franconia co-op on W. 72d St., the upscale Ribbon Restaurant is a local favorite. Residents can access Ribbon through their lobby. The food is essentially American style; recommended dishes include the 1/2 Amish chicken, the salmon and a cavatelli dish with fresh vegetables. Service is crisp, decor is pub style with long tables in the bar area.

We ate in this restaurant on the evening of December 31st. Everyone loved the meal as well as the kindness of the servers! We finished at Central Park for the fireworks located 5 minutes away by foot!

My wife and I took our yearly trip to New York and wanted a new place to try before heading over to see The Lion King. The Ribbon was very near by the theater and the web-site indicated it was Restaurant Week. When we arrived, we found that it actually wasn't Restaurant Week as advertised, but we were still happy to be in the bustling atmosphere and the trendy decor. I got the short ribs and my wife got the seafood curry dish and we can say that both were mouthwatering and wonderful. It was very tough to find a wine that would pair well with these two disparate dishes, but my wife has a wonderful knack of doing that and chose Holdredge Pinot Noir - russian River Valley, and it was fantastic with both dishes. We also split an amazing Chocolate Bruno with ice cream afterwards, which was amazing. The food was spectacular, the wine fantastic and the atmosphere was electric and fun. It isn't necessarily the place for a quiet, romantic dinner, but it was a great place to have a wonderful meal before a show.

We wanted a quick dinner before seeing To Kill a Mockingbird at the Schubert Theatre at 7pm. We were seated quickly and had an efficient and friendly server. He was not bothered by us only ordering small items from the menu. The food was delicious: Sauerkraut and sausage, the bacon cheeseburger, smoked salmon and toast. The amounts were perfect. While there the manger came to our table and asked if everything was okay and we said yes. We were very happy that we got a table without a reservation with the place so close to the theatre. It was a Thursday night and we found on the weekend reservations were needed to get a table anywhere.

I went for Christmas Dinner and IT was great. The stuff was very polite and friendly. The food was excellent. I ordered a Ribbon Steak which was perfectly cooked. The Fries and the Sauce topped the hole dish. Was worth every penny

My husband and I were in New York City for business, and of course, that means on the "off-time" one has to see a Broadway play. We made a reservation at The Ribbon just before and so glad we did. The service was outstanding, and even started with questions whether we were seeing a play and when it started to assure we had a great dining experience in the time we had. We had time for cocktails and enjoy the entirety of pre-fix menu with wine. All was outstanding! We will come here again--whether we are seeing a play!

First, our waiter (Dylan) was extremely helpful, and the staff that assisted him were all super professional. Unfortunately the food was just not up to the service or atmosphere. When I Re-read the reviews I understood that if we had set our sights a little lower (burgers etc) we would have been closer to a good meal. The prime rib was gigantic, fairly tasteless, and just not special enough to warrant the price.

We were celebrating out wedding anniversary and wanted something close to the beacon theatre. We made a reservation, but they missed the booth part, and we asked for a booth not in the bar area. Our waiter John C was very nice and attentive to detail. So many rave reviews on the prime rib, but my husband was not impressed. The beef burger was average. The mashed potatoes tasted flat like from a box, the zucchini not great lacked flavor, the 1/2 lobster was good. The dessert I was served looked old and stale. I told the waiter and did not eat. The manager came and said we would not be charged. Overall my company was Great, just not the food.

We’ve been here both for a date night and for brunch with kids - works perfectly both ways. Amazing burgers which I find hard to find lately around the city , great lunch/ brunch menu. They make pretty solid drinks as well- also they could get pretty busy - would recommend reservation. Happy New Year 🎊

My brother and I stopped in for a drink after walking through Central Park. We had a few beers and a few mixed drinks and the service and quality of the drinks was fantastic. We tasted several Old Fashions and Manhattans and The Ribbon had the best Manhattan.

Wanting somewhere for lunch before a matinee I stumbled on this restaurant. I am very glad that I did. The service at the bar was outstanding and I would recommend this to anyone who wants to eat in the area. The lunch was good and copious, and un requested, refills of my soft drink.

Aloof and careless servers highlight this overpriced place. Fried chicken funky taste. A single pancake for $19. This is a place that doesn’t like people and wouldn’t serve a portion of mashed potatoes at 3:50 because they are not served until 4 pm. Salad massively overpriced, as was must of the food. But I’m happy to pay for excellent quality served with a smile. Both were lacking here.

I have eaten here many times and from my experience I have found that the main courses were either inconsistent or just ordinary. My experience applies to their Queen Prime Rib, their Pork Prime Rib, and their Fried Chicken. Their desserts were exceptionally good including their Apple Strudel with a nice size scoop of maple ice cream, their Key Lime Pie served with ice cream, and their Toffee Pudding with ice cream. You can probably pick the flavor of ice cream you want on your dessert plate even though each pastry stated here is listed on the menu with a specific one.

A welcome, tasty lunch after a long walk in Central Park. Great location and atmospheric, relaxed environment, we loved it. In my view there could be a little more choice for vegan diners.

Stopped by for brunch before we headed home and I was disappointed. They were timely with our reservation seating, but tables for two are very close together and I don't like hearing two conversations on both sides of me......I think they try to stagger as those tables did get up with 10-15 minutes of us sitting down, but I didn't not like it. I had the Prime Rib Poutine and it was very good, but my friend had the bacon/eggs and thought the eggs were overcooked and the potatoes were heavy on the herbs. Seemed overpriced for what you got. The service was mediocre, for example my coffee cup was empty and I had to request a refill vs. them noticing

The Ribbon has a happy hour from 4 to 7 every day that includes $1 raw oysters from the East Coast. Three of us ate 80. The bar is right off Central Park.

My friend works at the American Museum of Natural History so we thought this NYC restaurant would be good and convenient for us to dine after work one day. It was convenient but that’s about it. The service was impeccable with numerous staff inquiring as to how things were going and they also left us alone to chat when it was obvious that’s what we wanted after our meal was served. The dinner left much to be desired. We started with wine and The Ribbon does have a good selection. For an appetizer, we got the white bean hummus. It was good but I’ve had much better as my mother-in-law actually makes this dish. But I have also enjoyed it traveling in the Eastern block countries. I ordered the arugula salad with roasted butternut squash for an entree. It literally contained less than five tiny pieces of butternut and they were all ice cold. There was also barely any Parmesan cheese or vinaigrette dressing; it was basically greens alone. We did end the meal with coffee drinks which were good but what kind of a restaurant has it all but the food? So strange...

The Ribbon has wonderful food with nice service. Unfortunately, it is pretty noisy, making conversation a little difficult. It gets very crowded, so make a reservation.

The Ribbon on 72nd Street is a very comfortable space with great service and terrific food. The happy hour( 4 to 7pm) is a terrific value. Oysters are cold, chicken tenders crispy and delicious, sliders are good , drinks are well made, etc. Check out the full menu as well. We've been there for lunch and are never disappointed.

Came here for lunch with a few co-workers and I have to say we were pleasantly surprised. It's a relatively new venue so really, it was a maybe in terms of food. Luckily the food was on point. The service, however, needs some work. That said, no one was upset with what we are. Again, given that this is in Times Square and it's Guy Fieri's old spot, the worry was real. Rest assured the food is good although moderately priced. We all ordered different things, but the butchers block (charcuterie board), flat bread special, and prime rib were on point. They have a huge space so I see a perfect happy hour spot for the future. They also have a downstairs VIP area that I didn't get to use but got to check out. I'll be back. It's a rare spot in Times Square that's actually worth visiting.

We recently went with a group of 10 on a Friday night. The staff was all friendly and the place is decorated really cool. I did find it funny that there were some scraps of holidays gone by still lingering around - fake spider webbing hanging from a picture and some white/silver deflated ballons from maybe New Year's Eve. We got a cocktail and everyone's was very tasty - expensive though $18 - but it's NYC in mid-town. I asked the waiter at the beginning if he could separate the checks and he said no but he could do different charges on credit cards. I would think you could easily split the check by chair but they wouldn't. Our crew didn't want to just split evenly because some people didn't have drinks and ordered only a small amount of food (which I get too). It was just annoying and cumbersome to try and figure it out between 10 people. The food was just ok - I would never recommend this place on the merit of food. It was comparable to an Applebees maybe. It wasn't bad - just at $35-$50 a plate, I expect it to be pretty darn good . My take away - basic tourist trap- cool atmosphere - decent drinks - the servers themselves were good but the customer experience is bad - food is ok. Price is expensive for what you get.

Failed to make a dinner reservation and feeling hungry at 5 pm on a Saturday. Tried Carmine's but without reservation, next available table not until 10:30 pm. Walked acouple coors up and found The Ribbon. Appreciated immediate seating. Service after that was pretty invisible. Long time to get acknowledged at table and in-between meal phases. Busser did a better job than waitress. Braised short ribs were incredible, prime rib was delicious. Both entrees were underseasoned for our taste, but easy to fix with a little extra salt. Mashed potatoes really yummy; brussel sprouts with bacon, just a pile of greasy mush. Beware of entrees that don't come with sides. Small cut of prime rib for $42 plus $11 for mashed potatoes and $11 for brussel sprouts was more than I would pay again. Chocolate Bruno dessert was a hit, but for $12.50 a bigger portion would have been appreciated. Close to $300 (with no alcohol) for four. Would go again, but would order more thoughtfully.

Great dining experience on a Monday night. The place has a very nice ambiance, reasonable prices and great food. The best fried chicken!

Very busy when arrived for reservation on time, asked to stand to side to wait for table, stood there for 10 minutes until seated. 30 minutes later I went to bar to get drinks as no server attended table. When they did, was told that need to order quickly or he would have to go to another table, so we ordered quickly as didn’t want to wait another half hour! Didn’t get asked if we wanted any further drinks in the meantime, so again went to the bar, walked past manager on the way and enquired if they were short staffed, he confirmed and apologised and offered a free round of drinks to our table. Our food arrived and 20 minutes had passed so i enquired where our drinks were and again manager apologised saying the bartender had lost the ticket. The drinks arrived after we had finished the meal. The place is nice, the food good if pricey, but the service was shocking and other than the manager not very friendly. Not sure if they were understaffed, as when we left around 9, the place had emptied and staff were sat around chatting. It was a shame, as this would have been a really nice way to finish our family Xmas day in the city.

I visited with friends on 9/20. We were walking by and decided to stop here for dinner. It would have been easy to pass by, considering the scaffolding nearby. We were glad we did. The service was prompt and attentive. The food was really good. One friend had an item off of the Octoberfest menu and remarked it was the best flamkuchen, even after having spent 2 years in Germany. I like the touch of delivering the check in a book.

Just stopped by for a beer, classic furnishing, comfortable atmosphere, great service. Classy bar area. A bit pricey, $8 for a draft.

Used OpenTable to find this place as we were going to the theatre across the street. We arrived early, and they asked us to wait for 10 minutes until our reservation time. Not sure why as the restaurant was not crowded. So, since it was nice weather, we went for a walk, and came back. We were seated upstairs and the tables are kind of close together (although not so bad that you feel like you are sitting at the adjacent table). We decided that we would do charcuterie for 2 for dinner, and we HIGHLY recommend "The Butcher's Board." It was a great selection of cheeses, meats, and pate, and they served it with enough bread that we didn't feel like we had to skimp. We also had the grilled avocado and the white bean hummus - both were great. For dessert, we split the chocolate chip bread pudding. Great food, great atmosphere, and right in the middle of the theatre district.

We went there after being recommended by the hotel concierge. We walked over and were seated quickly. It took a long(!) time to even get a server to recognize us and come to the table. I could understand if there's was a packed dining room and everyone was scurrying around BUT this was NOT the situation. There was no less than 5 servers just standing around and talk amongst themselves. Finally, one of the group looked over our way and suggested the assigned server come over. He came over and took our order. My wife asked for some bread which he didn't bring. The food arrived relatively quickly by another staff member. The food was mediocre to average. Having said that, this is NEW YORK CITY! How can a place with mediocre to average food and pathetic service make it when there are SO MANY other great restaurants?! The bill certainly didn't reflect the mediocre food and pathetic service. It was WELL over $100. I admittedly left a small tip based on the very poor service we received. With so many other restaurants near by, we won't be back and will mention our experience to the hotel concierge as well.

There were 7 of us for a semi-annual dinner. We're into food, so relatively knowledgable, especially with wine. We arrived after theater rush, so it was not busy. Our server was a DISASTER from the start. I requested a specific type of martini she'd never heard of. She had a hard time grasping how many apps we'd need to order for all of us - she should know this. When one of our party chose a bottle of wine and wanted to pay separately, again a hard time. She brought the wrong wine, started opening it before we got a chance to check the label and when she ultimately brought the right one, did not offer a taste before pouring (heavily BTW, like it was too much trouble to bring an ice bucket). We asked about vinaigrette for a salad and she made the move to bring balsamic vinegar. When questioned, she insisted it was vinaigrette ("Vinnie-gar-ette") until we simply asked for "dressing." She needed training about serving, the foods and all-around how to behave (dancing to the DJ next to the table = not good). The ultimate insult was that because we were a big party, a 20 percent tip was included in the bill. I would barely have given her anything at all. I am withholding her name because everyone has to make a living, but if management wants to reach out, I am happy to share. Just because this is in a touristy location doesn't mean you should offer crappy service. We're not tourists and this experience reflects terribly on the whole Blue Ribbon/Ribbon chain.

Cavernous restaurant with endless options - the quality of the food was excellent- as was the service- booming bar area and a great location at the edge of Central Park

I have walked by this restaurant many times in the past 10 yrs and never gave it more than a passing look. To me it looked more like a neighborhood bar/ hang out place and never imagined that it would have such a nice menu and atmosphere. I only picked it because it was restaurant week and figured it would be a good way to try someplace that was within my route. I would warn that it is a bit pricey but definitely a very nice place for a meal, service is good and a lot bigger inside than it appears to be. It seems to draw a lot of locals and that is always a good sign.

We had dinner here on a Saturday evening. Very warm, nighborhood vibe. Lots of energy in the house. Everyone looked like they were having a good time. Food was great and price points excellent for the location and quality. We had a variety of appetizers and entrees. I had the short ribs which were tender and tasty. Will return again.

Okay, so I will start off by saying it looks like just another local sports barsy type restaurant when you first walk in. It gets better as you walk thru but not by much. To begin, we had 4 drinks, potato chips and a dozen BAD tasting oysters for $150. Huh? I know it's NYC but please - $150 for potato chips? Couples are crammed into rows of two-tops. So crammed that the woman at the end literally fell off her part of the bench onto the floor. LITERALLY slid off the left onto the floor. That is crammed! The cajun potato chips were not cajun at all. There was a New Orleans native at the table...definitely not Cajun. We left shortly after finishing drinks and apps and went to the pizza place around the corner. DO NOT eat the oysters.

We somehow had not gotten here before. What an oversight. This was one of the best places we have eaten in the City. A fantastic salad was served before the main course. Each item was an excellent choice, properly prepared and served with aplom. The wait staff was competent to a fault and each course was delicious and memorable. We need to go back soon.

There was nothing wrong with the food, but there was nothing special either. For the money, one can do better. It was of course extremely convenient to the Schubert Theater directly across the street where we had a 7:00 pm curtain. We arrived at 5:00 to a near empty dining room (and unlike other theater district restaurants, no one asked if we were going to the theater). We had to request bread on the table. We shared a Caesar salad which was plenty for two and dressed just right. Although my friend’s hanger steak arrived with French fries, my more expensive prime rib came unaccompanied. I had to order a side separately. When it came time for dessert, we ordered the chocolate chip bread pudding but were not told it would take ten minutes to heat it up. At 6:45, we asked about it and were told it was being prepared. We had no choice but to cancel the order. The staff accommodated that request without an issue. And then just as we were paying the new bill, the bread pudding arrived. They said take a taste on the house which we did. Nicely done actually. By the time we left to run across the street, the dining room was packed and the decibel level quite high. It is a large, high-ceilinged cavernous room. All in all we would not return.

Booked the private dining room for q party of 10. The room itself is great and a great hideaway from the rest of the restaurant. Food was great. The fried chicken was excellent and everyone their meal. Service was a little slow at points and they tried to charge us $35 for bringing in our own cake despite never mentioning it the two previous occasions we'd discussed bringing a cake in. All in all a good restaurant and somewhere to try if you're near Strawberry Fields.

Made online reservation and selected to celebrate birthdays. Upon arrival we were promptly greeted and at our request seated in an area with less noise. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived and the music and patrons created already a lot of noise. Not a setting for romantic encounter, unless you know sign language. Our group appreciated the away from the crowd area and we had opportunity to engage in conversation without shouting. The menu choices are diverse, the wine list by the glass or bottle is attractive and all enjoyed a nice meal. Half of us choose the fixed cost menu, which offered tasty choices. The wait staff was attentive (it was not a busy night), knowledgeable and friendly.

Aside from the classic decor( penny tiles Edison bulbs authetic antiques). Even though the place is huge it still has a certain warmth to it. There’s a live dj which keeps the bibe grooving during your meal. the service in this place never seems to surprise me. Knowledgeable friendly staff that are passionate about the Bromberg brother’s food and the culture of quality. Something for everyone and reasonable proces for those on a budget. The prime rib is likely the best you’ll ever have and the rotisserie chicken is fantastic. Great sides to share and each one distinctive and delicious. Highly recommended for families and friends.

Recently had a delicious meal here with several friends. The ambience is fun and friendly. It's got an old Timey Brooklyn feel. Service was good. Food was good especially the fried chicken sandwich and french fries. It's a little on the pricey side but not atypical for New York City. I recommend it.

Went for brunch. My pulled pork sandwich wasn’t bad.. the bacon on it was excellent. We needed to call the attention of our server several times., and it was far from busy.I felt we paid more for the location then we did for great food or excellent service.

By far my favorite meal all week. Went to The ribbon for lunch with three friends and everyone was very pleased with what they ordered. Crowded and bustling as you would expect in New York but staff handled it well. I had the Hot Chicken & Cheddar Chive Pancake, as did one of my friends. Incredible! One of my other friends ordered the Crispy farm eggs and loved them as well. My vegetarian friend ordered the White bean hummus and really enjoyed that. I honestly could have gone back and ordered the same dish, which I never do, if Id had the time.

Whilst in NYC our friend took us along to this restaurant prior to going to theatre nearby and even though in the heart of Broadway we immediately felt comfortable in true buzz of NYC Staff on arrival were welcoming smiling and Mairéad and her team at the desk couldn’t be more inviting and so we were taken into a really buzzing busy restaurant with Pre-Theatre diners and immediately our waitress Valentina took a drink order and delivered menus detailing the Nightly Specials The ambience & music was really good and our food order be it Main Courses only were expedited within 15 minutes being Pork Sandwich 🥪 with Fries , Classic Caesar Salad and the House Speciality of Roast Fore rib of Beef 🥩all dishes were presented well and portions were ample in size Our drinks 🍷 being Muscadet White Wine & Cosmo Cocktails were a good accompaniment to a lovely meal had by us all Desserts 🧁 were declined as we were full but the offerings did look good and as we had to walk four blocks to theatre we needed to move on to make the show However from Start to Finish it was Five Star 🌟 When next in town and not at theatre I will be back for the Seafood Specials from the Wet Bar of Oysters & Clams !!

We had a good burger and salad at this nice-looking place near the Museum of American History. It's a big place by NYC standards, vaguely feels like the Cheers bar, but more restaurant than bar. Service was friendly if not high-speed, and the food was really good. It wasn't in the top tier of places we tried, but it was a solid restaurant with a good selection of mostly hearty-looking dishes.

We arrived at 21:00, after trying to reserve a table through online, with no luck. At our arrival, the lady at the front tried to deny us a table inside as she said: "it was full". Looking inside, it was totally the opposite and so we insisted that she could go and check with the staff if there was any, something that at that point was evident. They finally gave us one of the many available tables inside the restaurant. Not quite comfortable by that point. We were celebrating, so we tried to overcome the initial situation, and quickly chose the Arugula salad and the Vegetable Risotto. Both very good. The salad was delicious, the leaves, the camote, the zucchini, the parmesan cheese and the dressing very well combined. The risotto was wonderful. The temperature. Every vegetable in the right cooking point, crunchy, amazing.

Not impressed with first time visit. Limited menu for this Gluten-free eater. Ordered the Quinoa salad - very bland. My wife's rotisserie chicken soup was disappointing also. Burgers did not look special, just average. Convenient location across the street from my daughter's apartment, but not worth returning.

I ordered their fried chicken and was disappointed. Should have known better growing up in the south. Mom’s cannot be beat. The location is great if you are going to Broadway shows

We made reservations to The Ribbon during restaurant week to eat before going to the "Jagged Little Pill" broadway show across the street. We had enough time, ordered everything upfront and told our server that we were going to the show. Everything took FOREVER to arrive, like 25+ minutes for a drink and so much longer for the main courses. I had the lobster curry and it was really good, I wish I had more time to enjoy it. We had to take the desert course to go and were still late to the show. Every table around us was waiting for a long time and we were told it was kitchen delays. Our server was very nice about it and they comped our drinks.

A friend and I made reservations for Sunday brunch before seeing A Soldier Play on Sunday, February 9. We were seated quickly, however no server came to our table after 15 minutes of waiting. We noticed newly seated customers were being serviced promptly. The manager was alerted, he apologized and took our order. He did offer us a complimentary drink as a result. The food came quickly, however a server did not follow up to see if we needed anything. However, the food was well prepared. When we were ready we had to yet again alert someone we wanted the bill. The initial bill given was for another party and needed to inform the staff of the error. We were excited to visit this location based upon the customer service from the 72nd location. I will never visit this location again.

Restaurant found by chance on the street of the Dakota Building and happy surprise. Warm and chic atmosphere, tasty dishes and very nice waiter. We recommend.

The Ribbon is very close to the theatre and is reasonably priced for Times Square. We went their for my 70th birthday before the theatre, The staff couldn’t have been nicer. Jay and Phillip were wonderful. The food is plentiful, not gourmet but satisfying. A real plus was that we could actually hear each other and did not have to talk over a loud din. The price fix menu was reasonable and the hanger steak was tender. The staff made me feel very special on my birthday . Thanks

I’ve been a loyal fan of Blue Ribbon for delivery — the food consistently arrives fresh, flavorful, and just right. So, I finally decided to dine in... and was genuinely surprised by how much it missed the mark. I ordered a burger and fries — simple enough. But the fries tasted like they were leftovers from the day before and had just been reheated: dry, hard, and nearly inedible. I asked for the burger medium and with no cheese. It arrived well-done with cheese. To top it off, the service was oddly off-putting. The waiter gave off the distinct impression that I was working for him. Aloof, inattentive, and not especially interested in correcting anything. Also worth noting: they allow dogs inside the restaurant — not outside on the patio, but indoors. I’m all for pet-friendly places, but in a dining space? That was unexpected and, frankly, a little unsanitary. Really disappointing visit, especially after so many great deliveries.

After having eaten at many of the Upper West & East restaurants it was nice to find something different. A bustling bar was a welcome shelter from the rain, after a few beers, we moved to the restaurant at the back. The service was okay but could be a little more attentive. The food is good with a nice array of offerings. I would recommend, definitely a place were local go and you can see why they keep on going back.

I want to give this place 5 stars - which it definitely gets for food, but the service was 80% there, but could easily be 100%. FOOD ... We started with the deviled eggs, tried them all. Fried Oysters with pickled jalepenos, Smoked Salmon with trout roe, and Pickled Peppers with olive oil mayo. All were good and a great take on deviled eggs. The Pickled Peppers isn't for those who don't like spicy foods - it's got heat from the seeds. But I still liked the flavor even though I'm not usually for spice. Previous meals I usually start with the House Made Pates and get The Ribbon Dip. For entree I had their special - Duck Confit served with spinach, dried apricot and spaetzle. Soooo good. We were so stuffed we didn't make it to dessert - to be honest, we never do. SERVICE... That said we dined on a Friday night at 6:45 PM of Memorial Weekend. I made OpenTable reservations but didn't seem like we needed it anyhow, though points are good! We were seated right away. I noticed that the bar top tables towards the front of the house were somewhat populated, but definitely had room. It took over 10 mins to be greeted by a waiter. Thank goodness menus were placed when we were seated. The "bus boy" had refilled our water at least 3 times (he was on it!) and helped us call our waiter to order. Our waiter was personable and described the specials well, and got our orders right. The food came out relatively quickly and timely - no complaints there. Our plates were cleared in a timeline fashion - not too soon, not too long - and the waiter was there to offer the dessert menu. But almost 10 mins went by and we couldn't find our waiter and had to flag the bus boy down again to tell him we just need the check. It doesn't take that long to figure out dessert. In fact, I would guess sometimes you can up sell dessert if you check on the patrons sooner than later. I could've been convinced, I was going to ask, but after 5 mins I lost interest and just wanted to go. So the service wasn't bad, the attentiveness was not what it should be. I'm not sure if that's due to management - table assignment or the waiter - his habits of making rounds. We've eaten here 4-5 times since they've opened average twice a year and this is the 3rd time this has happened. It's probably why we don't come more often even though we live on this block.

We dinned at The Ribbon on our last evening in NY, after seeing the Alvin Ailey show. We were seated immediately, the service was prompt and friendly. We enjoyed the atmosphere. The four of us tried different entrees and main courses, and loved them all. We will keep it in mind on our next trip to NY.

I could write a 15 page account of our experience but will stick to the salient points. We were visiting to celebrate our anniversary with shows and art. The Ribbon is conveniently located within walking distance of many theaters; we were seeing Phantom that evening. The food was amazing, as well as the attentiveness of our server (Valentina). My husband was seated with his back to a larger party, maybe 8-10 people, and their server repeatedly hit him while trying to squeeze by. It’s notable that no other staff hit him when going by; some opted to go around because clearly it was not a lot of room. I mentioned it to our server because it was our anniversary dinner. This turned into a discussion with the other server, by her manager. Server comes over within 5 minutes, close to my husband, loudly says “Excuse me, apparently I need to say this...” and then proceeds to bad mouth us to said larger party. Needless to say, we were SHOCKED!!! It’s not like either of us behaved poorly prior to expressing annoyance with him getting hit multiple times with so much as a peep, so this was all out of nowhere! Alexandra, the manager, came directly to our table afterwards because she witnessed it from afar. And she said and did all the right things that someone in her position should have — that type of service, coupled with the amazing food and ambiance, really made all the difference in what could’ve been an awful experience and very memorable, but negative, anniversary. Many thanks and highly recommended! We’ll be back next time in NYC.

We came here for the first time in two years. A very well run machine of a restaurant with huge volumes of drinks and food. Staff is nice and responsive, if a bit overburdened at times and hence not as attentive as one might wish. Food is really good, from hamburgers and sandwiches with great thin french fries, to steak tartare, lamb chops and Amish Chicken (not sure what it is but it is good). This place is a bit pricey, as for four we were well into the $300+ range, but quite nice.

Used open table to find this new restaurant close to our theatre. Arrived early so sat at bar. Received a cocktail menu but in30- minutes no one took a drink order. Service in the restaurant was excellent - attentive and friendly. Tomato bisque started the meal and was excellent. I had a burger while guest had a pasta dish. Tasty. Decent bar options, including wine by glass choices. Good rye whiskey options but no ‘Dad’s Hat’ left me a bit cold. Decor is contemporary and dining gets noisy when full. A DJ mixes the music well. Nothing new or innovative, but service is a standout. We’d go back.

After getting back from a "Hello Dolly" performance we were late slightly hungry and this restaurant was recommended by a neighborhood local. It didn't disappoint walked in at 10:30 and they welcomed us in like we were neighbors! No attitude about closing time like a couple of other restaurants give us on our walk home. We decided to split a salad and entree since it was so late and again no attitude they happily brought us already split a Cesar salad and the pasta. The salad was perfectly dressed, and the pasta was tender with tasty bites of chicken. Loved the atmosphere, wine and beer list were good and the place still had lots of fun people enjoying themselves. The only disappointment was the pour of scotch, pretty weak of a pour for $12.

Stopped into the Ribbon early. The decor is really cute- there are old books all over the place. The fries are amazing. The waitress was really nice.

instead of the menu published on the official website of the restaurant for the week of restaurants in New York, they offer the usual menu with the usual prices. the manager apologizes that they allowed a mistake with the menu on the restaurant's website. terrible service and terrible food (sandwich and burger for $70). Total crap

My 3 friends & I had a great dining experience here on a recent Friday evening. This place is new so I thought it would be crazy packed with tons of tourists, but we wanted to check it out anyway. Luckily we were completely wrong and I just think the tourists have yet to discover this great place. The restaurant is quite huge so can accommodate a lot of people. There is a bar area once you enter, then stairs up to the dining room. There is also a counter seating area in the restaurant. We were lucky enough to get a booth towards the right of the dining room which gave us a bit more seclusion & privacy. Our waiter was great, friendly, & professional. He was very attentive which was great. We ordered specialty drinks off the menu, apps to share, and each an entree. I ordered the chicken sandwich with fries which I devoured. Everything from the drinks, tasty apps, & entrees were perfect & delicious! Sadly once this place catches on, it will be packed, but such a great place to dine instead of all the chain restaurants in Times Square, so a welcome addition. I highly recommend coming here on a date night, with a few friends, or large group (there is a private dining room)!

Nice place Very good food and professional staff They arranged us that we were 6 without reservation (2 vegetarian ) We will be back

We've eaten here twice now and really love it. The food is excellent and the service is fast. It's within walking distance to the theatres of Broadway. Great ambiance.

The Upper West Side has not been known for it’s stellar restaurants. The Ribbon changes that. As good as any place in the city. Big menu and delicious food in a room with a downtown vibe. My new favorite neighborhood hangout.

In the heart of the theater district. Extensive menu. Prix fix menu as an option. Cocktails are expensive. Does not offer happy hour at midtown location. Food was more than adequate. Atmosphere was great.

My new favorite place on the UWS. I recently took my sister and her family and they loved it. Manager came by and I shared it was their first time. He later sent over dessert – that is good customer service. Best items on the menu….deviled eggs and the BURGERS!!!

But not quite 5 star. Fried chicken excellent but chicken schnitzel a little funky as was the first version of spinach. Fun environment and excellent service.

I made a reservation about a week in advance for a business lunch 12:30 pm on a Monday. Instead of being proactive, I was called about 30 minutes prior to my reservation time that they "no longer are open Mondays". With 30 minutes to find a new place for lunch, and also with no sympathy from the woman caller- it totally put a bad taste in my mouth. Definitely disappointed and hoped for a better overall experience!

Walked in after a show for a late dinner. We were sedated upstairs in a tiny booth for two next to a very busy 8 top that was doing business on their computers,of hitch there were many. They could have sat us way away from that table but they didn’t. Our server took about 10 minutes to show and then another 10 to get water and drinks. The oysters were very good, the pate a bit dry. my hubs got the pumpkin soup and it was fine and the Amish chicken which was good but unremarkable. I think we would have enjoyed it more if our server was wanting to do her job. We won’t be back.

They sent us from the hotel since my daughter had a hip hop lesson around this area, we waited for an hour and the food never came to our table, the manager only presented excuses but the bottom line is we had to leave the place with an empty stomach, terrible experience one hour waisted at beautiful NY City.

Met friends for early dinner, We had Amish Chicken, Mahi Mahi, special Roasted Cod with side broccolini and kale salad. Place was pretty full, lively conversation, all ages, lighting was a bit dim, but service was prompt and effective, explanations clear, food quality excellent, just a bit on the expensive side, but to be expected for this part of town. Two couples and two glasses of wine for $200 including tax & tip. Would definitely return and we warmly recommend it.

Just walking by and was hungry so decide to see if we needed a reservation. We didn't and were seated quickly. The wait staff was attentive throughout the entire meal but not overly annoying. The food cam out so fast we couldn't believe it and my hamburger was cooked perfect! Prices are reasonable and would definitely eat here again on another trip.

The food is okay - nothing special. The hostesses are always disinterested & act like giving u a table is a "gift." They do not honor reservations. The NOISE level is simply put Terrible!! This is encouraged by the ceiling design & the music level. I have been in bars all over & this one is the worst. They think this will encourage one to drink. If u care about preserving your hearing, Do Not Go Here!

My friend and I had a great pre-show meal at The Ribbon. She ordered the prix fixe with the buffalo cauliflower, hanger steak and monkey bread. I order the cavatelli. It was all wonderful! We loved the atmosphere and the staff was wonderful - Valentina, Shagora, Flavio. Would definitely recommend.

Busy, friendly, happy atmosphere. We dropped in out of the cold to find lovely cocktails, great cheap oysters and super hot soup.

We had 5 pm reservations. We were at promptly at 5. The menu offers many different choices for dinner. We ordered appetizers and shared the as our dinner. The ribs were delicious and a must order. The tomato soup was creamy but a little cool. Still very good though. Buffalo cauliflower, grilled avocado (one half( and salmon are yummy. Basically, order any of the above appetizers and you won’t be disappointed.

Beautiful bridal shower in private room just the right size! The food was amazing and wait staff attentive and super friendly. Everyone loved it!!

One of my favourite restaurants when in NYC. Great ambiance and helpful and friendly staff. Their ribeye steak is the best you’ll get anywhere. Tender and so full of flavour. If 2 of you sharing then the 16oz split between you is great value.

We stumbled across this place looking for somewhere for a drink before a show. The staff were lovely, attentive and helpful. Service was fast. There was a complimentary antipasti which was lovely. We enjoyed playing trivial pursuit whilst having our drinks. Well priced also.

We had heard a lot of positive about The Ribbon, but it didn't live up to the hype. Or experience ranged from terrible to great during one meal. We got seated, but efter a few minutes the waiter asked us to move to another table since they had a large party coming and needed our table. No problems with that. We ordered our food: The Ribbon Steak, the meat was very nice, the peppercorn sauce was very average, fries perfect. Salmon with buttered leeks was uninspiring, very average. For the kids we got a burger, and it was the worst ever, it was bread and a patty. nothing else. I've never seen a sadder burger, What they did do very well was the customer care, we got comped the kids meals and they treated us to a spread of desserts on the house. These desserts were all awesome. Generally missing any kinds of fresh vegetables accompanying the main dishes. High and low, we might give them a second chance.

Today I discovered a new amazing place! The atmosphere is perfect, the service is good, the food is delicious the location is great... so I guess it’s a Five Star Restaurant!!

Came here on marathon day. We had a large booth. We had to squeeze in when others came to join our party. Unclear if they didn’t have another large table but the place was fairly empty when we got there. One of the staff gave us the Wi-Fi password but we didn’t hear it well. So we asked the waitress when it was. She cold said they don’t have a public Wi-Fi. We explained that we already were given the Wi-Fi password we just needed to confirm it. She rudely responded that there’s nothing she can do. I asked her to ask someone then. She came back and acknowledged that they now had a guest Wi-Fi and she didn’t know. But never apologized about it. Service was fine otherwise. The food was average at best. The baked eggs were bland. The biscuits which I got as a side where dry and over cooked.

I came here with my hubby and another couple. We all ordered different things and everyone enjoyed their meal. You never know when you get into tourist areas what you're going to get, but this place was good. I would go back. It is very loud, but has a nice low lighting. Make a reservation so you can just go on in.

Nice restaurant..good location.. good food but expensive for what it was. Beef Rib really good.. vegetables not well cooked.

Great restaurant, we found two seats at the bar. Great service. The burger was cooked perfectly and the shoestring fries were very good. Nice touch with the side of pickles. My wife had the white bean soup, which was excellent, great flavor, right temperature and very flavorful. It was the soup of the day. The quality of the soup told us they had a great kitchen. My wife also had a ceasar salad which was the right size, temperature and freshness. I was surprised to find a great restaurant so close to time square.

Really fun, lively atmosphere. Waiter was full of personality, food was delicious, loved the ambiance.

We went to this spot for a tasty event. This restaurant was not under my radar, so it was good to discover a new spot. It had a simple, modern exterior, nothing too fancy but elegantly done. The first area at the entrance is more lounge-type dining set up, with a bar next to it. The bar is not massive so that they don’t take up too much space of the restaurant. Most of the space is allocated for dining, which allows more seating and more customers. At the back of the restaurant, they had more dining space. This is the area where we used for our event. A great area for a private party. They had a good amount of seating, and the center of the room was kept open for the event. I am not sure if this is the way it usually look when it is not used as an event space. We started off with the event with wines. Lots and lots of wines! The staff kept pouring more and more wines, as it seems like we were all wine lovers. They had Rosé and Riesling wines. And the food, my goodness, soooooo much food! We had Chicken Liver Mousse with pecan pomegranate, Housemade Flatbread with Ricotta, Bacon, and Broccolini,Fried Mushroom Risotto, Deviled Eggs with spicy pickled pepper, and so many more! Interesting item to note was Black Bean Burgers, some referred to them as Black Bean “Sliders.” It was bigger than normal sliders, but a bit smaller than a burger. Would this be a “Burder” or “Sliger”??? Now, this one was one of my favorite of the evening. What looked like a Buffalo Chicken at a quick glance, but it was Buffalo Style Cauliflower! It was really tasty, I never had cauliflowers this way, and it was great! The cauliflowers were cooked just right, not too firm nor too soft. Very addicting and what a great alternative to buffalo chicken. The best of the best was their Fried Chicken to die for! It was so tasty and delicious, we could've eating a huge plateful if we could... The manager (?) came around towards the end to see if we all enjoyed the food. All the staffs were really nice, friendly and polite. They took a really nice care of us. It was a fun and tasty event, we had a good time here and we felt welcomed the entire time.

Really nice restaurant near Times Square. Very friendly and intently service. We can recommend the Bacon Cheeseburger. Fair pricing for excellent food and a location near Time Square.

This is a well laid out restaurant, meaning you don't spend the entire meal having too talk over your neighbours, the decor is nice and the food very well cooked. We had one fussy eater in our party and this was the place she raved about. Also this was in a week long visit the place with the best service of anywhere, attentive without being obtrusive and only clearing the table when each course was finished. Rather than the standard New York approach of interrupting to clear each diner individually. I came here between shows, so for an early dinner and because it is so well orgainsed had a nice meal that did not need to be rushed. I would use this place again both to entertain and for business. The only downside is that it isn't cheap. Not excessive given how good the overall product is, but not for those on a budget.

Food and service were outstanding. We had one of the seafood towers (I can't remember which) and it was fantastic. Servers were friendly and we had a really nice time.

Valentines Day (weekend) in NYC with my wife. We were staying in the theater district and looking for a nice restaurant that was convenient to the hotel and theaters. We lucked upon The Ribbon and now we have a favorite restaurant/bar in the district. Really good menu and great service but what will have these two Texans coming back was the people. Upon entering we were almost immediately engaged by a smiling, very friendly young man who genuinely cared about us and our experience there. His name is Jarvis and he appeared to do a little bit of everything at the restaurant (he seemed to be everywhere). When he brought our drinks he wanted to know who we were and why we were in town (sincerely). We were happy as we could be to talk to Jarvis every opportunity we had ( he did still have to work). Very intelligent young man, funny, extremely knowledgeable about the theater and what is going on around town. Again, he was a pleasure. We almost didn’t want to go to our table. Dinner was a great experience, many wonderful and unique items to choose from. Angelica, our waitress was very helpful and Jarvis kept stopping by and checking on us when as well. I also need to mention the manager, Alex. She is a very nice young lady and as attentive as any manager could or should be. She made sure we enjoyed the full experience and invited us back the next night, after the show, for dessert. She too was very helpful, had many good suggestions about food and fun and my wife invited her to look us up in Fort Worth if she ever made it to town. We don’t like to try the same restaurant twice on any given trip, (so many dining options to choose from) but there was no question where we were dining the next night. When we returned the next evening we were met with a wonderful greeting by all that we’d met the night before. Waves, smiles and helloes that were truly heartwarming. We tried a couple of different items (all very good) from the menu and then enjoyed some wonderful bread pudding and wine. We enjoyed this night just as much and hated to leave, knowing we wouldn’t be back for months. We definitely have a favorite place and favorite people to look forward to seeing. We both grew up working in the service industry and are usually lamenting the level of service today and missing a seemingly gone by era. Truly not the case here. Thanks to everyone at The Ribbon for helping make this trip special! I hope everyone is still there on our next trip. Can’t wait to get back! Do yourself a favor and stop in to see these folks. You won’t regret it! Tell Jarvis and Alex hi from Texas!

My son and daughter-in-law’s favorite spot in the Upper West Side. My wife and I fully agree. We particularly enjoy the Buffalo Cauliflower and the Meatball appetizer and the Prime Rib.

I wont recommend if you try to enjoy and have a nice moment, highly impolite. I do not like to write that kind of comments, but my family felt so bad, we were just trying to have a nice time

Not just one time, several times, servers are not friendly at all. I live nearby and insist in this place but I'm never welcome. it seems to me that they are doing a great favor...

Crowded place. Not sure why it's so popular, we might have ordered the wrong food - burger and salmon steak. Nothing fancy. Might give it another go just to be sure!

We had a lovely meal here on the last night of our recent trip to NYC. Its a very smart place, the menu wasn't HUGE, but was ok and we all enjoyed what we had. Its not cheap, but the food was good quality and the staff were lovely - we were served by Janice, and she was super helpful and friendly. We were a mixed party of 6 and were able to find something for us all and the atmosphere was great there. Would recommend a visit, especially if you are seeing a show as this is in a great location to lots of the theatres..

It is rare that you can eat in Theatre District and get great quality food and drinks. I was sooo happy to walk in and find this place -- and it was Happy Hour! The raw bar is amazing and the best burgers ever! If you're local or seeing a show, this is the best place to go. Can't wait to come back!

From the moment I walked inside the ribbon, I was mesmerized by the extraordinary and unique decor. Attention to detail was not missed. From the antique books lining the walls, to the photos and drawings of legendary figures, One could spend hours just taking in the surroundings. The staff was friendly, courteous, helpful, and all too eager to assure us that we would have a memorable experience. And we did! Everything about The Ribbon was classy, fun, comfortable and unique, and most of all, a truly exquisite, culinary experience. Every dish was better than the next. From the exceptional appetizers, to the decadent desserts and everything in between… The Lobster and Shrimp Curry was out of this world. A warning...go with an appetite. You will not be disappointed!

We spend the 25th of December 2019 afternoon at this charming place, across the Dakota building,72th and Central park.Excellent food.good margueritas.Started with a cheese fondue.Excellent Prime Rib with a red Bordeaux(Graves) and key lime pie with ice cream for dessert.Pleasant waitress.Beautiful Christmas in New-York city.

Went to The Ribbon on a Monday night. Our waiter was incredibly gracious, attentive, and helpful. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower appetizer, beet and goat cheese salad, and the fried chicken. (Fried chicken is a specialty served Sunday...but also on Monday). All were excellent. I highly recommend The Ribbon

My wife and I ate here before seeing a show on 45th street. We made reservations. I thought the food and service were very good. I ordered from the fixed price menu and got the hanger steak. I was cooked just right and tasted very good. My wife had the butcher salad which was pieces of different meats over salad. She also had the Tuscan white bean soup which she thought was excellent. The place was very busy but we were seated promptly and were finished in about an hour and had plenty of time to get to the theater. We didn't have drinks and the total cost was around $100.

After a long day of travel, this was a great place to just relax and find something for all family members who were tired! Service was friendly and when one order didn't arrive as ordered, they noticed it before we did and immediately fixed it! Wow! Would go again when in NYC.

Aside from the classic decor( penny tiles Edison bulbs authetic antiques) the service in this place never seems to surprise me.

Loved the Butcher's Salad and the Burgers. Very cool interior and very convenient to the shows near Times Square.

Great looking large restaurant with wonderful menu. Convenient to theatre and open till midnight. Tonight was our first time and we will be back

I never knew about The Ribbon until my most recent trip to the city. I’ve added it to my favorites list. It’s really fun and in a great location. I had the meatballs for lunch and they were delicious. Excellent choice of healthy and hearty food. Cool decor with an expansive open dining room. Friendly laid back staff. Perfect for pre or post Broadway outing. Highly recommend!

Me and my girlfriend went there in hopes of a good steak. We ordered the ribbon steak, and although the steak was tasty, it was a little bit to cheewy so i didnt really enjoy it. Waited way to long for the check. Overall nice atmosphere, okay food and okay service.

Nice quiet New York restaurant, excellent service and the food was superb. Could not fault this place.. The deserts were excellent as well A must do when in New York

What kind of maniac comes up with prime rib poutine? It was a cut of prime rib atop a bed of fries that had been covered in cheddar gravy. On top of all that was a fried egg. It was absolutely absurd and delicious. Nice to have Central Park less than a block away to walk off the calories. Another hit was the buffalo cauliflower. A healthier alternative to buffalo wings that still tastes delicious. Then I ate prime rib poutine and canceled out those vegetables. They have plenty of room for families and large groups.

There were 5 of us after an afternoon Broadway show......great finish to our day! Short Ribs were fantastic (cut with a fork!), Prime Rib was moist & flavorful, the Halibut special was great. Key Lime Pie was fantastic! (Only thing, the Cappuccino was good....only thing not great) Our server was great, and the buspersons were even nicer. Overall, a fantastic meal 11 out of 10!

Would have been a lovely Christmas meal as the food was delicious but the service was terrible. Staff generally just rude and dismissive. We were seated late and then waited a further half an hour just to be asked if we wanted drinks. Staff said they were busy but there was no real apology and we were made to feel like it was our problem. Would return which is a shame.

Upper West Side industrial meets old world tavern vibe with a large space including a private room for an intimate party. We arrived earlier than our reservation and were seated quickly. The restaurant was just about filled by the time we left around 8pm. Well staffed with nice service, two of us ordered from the Restaurant Week menu and two from the regular menu. The RW menu was varied. We had mussels and shrimp scampi for appetizer and branzino and hangar steak from the RW dinner menu; off the regular menu, French dip sandwich and steak. Everything was great including cocktails. Ice cream and coffee for dessert were also really tasty. This location is close to the Central Park entrance near Imagine and Strawberry fields. The entire evening gets an all around thumbs up from all of us.

i dined here prior to my 8:00 PM show. I was seated promptly. My server was friendly and professional. My meal was good (caesar salad and main course pasta dish). The atmosphere is lively. I liked the use of old books to deliver my check.

Accidentally came across this place while my wife and I were in NYC. Great bar, friendly staff and great food. Not pricey at all. Crowded with a lot of energy in the place. So good we went back the next night for the food and drinks. Manager recognized us from the previous night and she sent an appetizer over on the house. Casual, menu has everything from sandwiches to foie gras. Highly recommend.

Great food, but very pricey. We had several items and they were all delicious!! We tried the deviled eggs, quinoa bowl, fried chicken, and hanger steak. Every item was excellent! Definitely worth going to, but be prepared to spend some money!

Recently, my husband and I went to The Ribbon for dinner. The food was great and the wine was affordable - no mean feat in NYC! This place, back in the day, was a Speakeasy, and there are still bullet holes in one of the walls to attest to some of its previous criminal associations! Even though it is quite large, service was good. Can't wait to go back!
Balloon inflation break
Very accommodating to guest with wheelchair. We needed to power his electric chair. Excellent service and food. I recommend the Pineapple mule..
