Second time I've been to The Smith. Close to Central Park, it is a good choice after a trip around the region. Very pleasant atmosphere, great service and fair price (not that cheap). I recommend!

The Smith does great brunch! My dish, which was a delicious take on eggs Benedict, instead used cornbread and sausage. A very novel concept and totally tasty! The Mac and cheese is also unbeatable. Probably the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever tasted!

As in the Flatiron location, the rooms appear to have been designed to enable maximum noise from conversations, requiring nearly everyone to shout to be heard. In the back room here, conversation was possible, and the well-run location made it easy to enjoy the food. The Seafood Deluxe, at $40, was no bargain, and could have used a couple more shrimp, but it was a quite satisfying meal with East Coast oysters and the requested horseradish. My wife's Caesar Salad ($16) and then Mussels and fries ($27) were excellent. The cappucinos were fine and the three scoops of ice cream -- chocolate chocolate chip and strawberry -- were terrific. Great option for Lincoln Center dining.

I’ve visited NY many time’s and frequent this restaurant because of its late night availability after a show at Lincoln Center but decided to do brunch on a Broadway weekend trip here. We wanted brunch but were told brunch wasn’t being served even though multiple people were eating it and several tables sat after us ordered pancakes which looks like brunch menu to me. But the biggest issue we had was being seated outdoors at a very small table under an excruciatingly hot and close to your head heater and asking if we could move from under it and being told they had reservations and couldn’t move my table. Within five minutes another couple came and asked the same thing and were allowed to sit at the very table I had asked for. Then another couple came and were seated at the table beside us which was identical and asked the same thing and were moved. Now this became an issue for me because both couples had a man as the lady to move and she moved them. The tables were then filled with other same sex couples. So do you discriminate based on same sex relationship or just flirting with men in general. I found the behavior insulting and intolerable and I wouldn’t step foot back in your place after the disrespect behavior. I have great pics of lesbian row and couple corner. I also have a nice pic of the hostess so I hope someone helps her find her open mind.

Came here before American Utopia on Broadway for drinks and apps. I was kicking back Hendrix and Tonics while others in my party tried a range of drinks. We tried some apps and they tasted good. The prices were average for the area, but service was in no rush. We would come back here. The process took a while, but overall, it was pretty good.

Arrived at 7, we were well received. We ate well. On the red meat and fries and beers program. Price a little high.

We came here for breakfast and we were not disappointed. I had the goats cheese omelette and my partner had the eggs Benedict. Everything about both of our meals was amazing, down to the dressing on the salad and the home fries. So much so my partner said the eggs Benedict was the best he has ever had. Interior of these restaurants were lovely and staff all very accommodating. Service was incredibly fast and efficient.

My friends have a variety of dietary needs and this was good for us before theater. It may be pricey, but the burger with fries was tasty and came out quick from the kitchen.

On a busy Saturday night, I managed to find a solo place at the bar and enjoy great service and food, just prior to a Broadway show. Bartender Kristine was very attentive and helpful. I ordered the Flounder Milanese, a good portion perfectly. cooked and very tasty. It came with mixed greens salad which served my purposes of keeping it lean and calories friendly. I also enjoyed two by-the-glass wine orders -- a Barbera d'Asti and a glass of Prosecco (for dessert!). Both were lovely accompaniments to my meal. The Smith has a vibrant atmosphere, so it might be hard to hear at tables, but that was not the case at the bar.

We made reservations but found out that if you want to sit outside, you need to make reservations specifically for the patio. They say us in the back room, which was so noisy, we waited a half hour to get a table out on the patio. They give you a bottle of still water, as well as a bottle of carbonated water. We ordered I’m the Brussels sprouts, and the sunchokes. Both appetizers were excellent. Our main courses were also excellent. The Smith burger was huge, and came with a pile of great fries. The salmon was good. The shrimp and grits were some of the best I ever had. They have a decent beer selection. The wait staff was very attentive and took good care of us.

We went for brunch on a Saturday. It was busy and as in most NYC restaurants you are squeezed in. We did the full brunch experience with cocktails. The churros waffles and mac & cheese were AMAZING!

Nicely located across the street from Lincoln center. Make reservations as there is often a wait. Brunch is excellent. The avocado toast fresh and tasty. Fun photo booth in basement by bathrooms.

This was a short walk from our hotel and a good place to start the day with a decent selection of items on the breakfast menu. The Eggs benedict was excellent and another member of the family had the pancakes. Staff are polite and professional with flawless service

so good! the mac and cheese is great!! i definitely reccomened coming to this restaurant for some amazon food!!!!!!!!!

It was busy and we were hungry so my son and I sat at bar. We shared a salad and calamari. Both were delicious. The salad was crunchy, fresh, and had the perfect amount of dressing z( not drenched like many places do) and the calamari was crispy and scrumptious. The sauce which was a bit spicy was such a nice change from the typical sauce that accompanies calamari dishes. The salad had very little avocado and the waiter, without me asking, was so kind and brought out has a sliced avocado to out on top. We would love to return next time we are in NYC.

Good vides and good food. Dined outside, great server. Ordered a beer and I didn't care for it, offered to replace or not charge. Sign of a good restaurant. Food was good and served within timely manner. The buger special listed for Monday was very good. Braised short rib malfadine very tasty, little short on meat however. Hope to return. Swing over to rooftop next door for photo of Empire State building at night, think cover charge on weekends only.

Have recently been twice...once with friends & now with hubby as I enjoyed it so much I had to take him. Very delicious food & great servers both times! Enjoyed decadent potato chips with blue cheese & truffle meatballs. My hubby really enjoyed the mussels dish & I had the chicken bolognese with my request to change to gluten-free pasta. It was very tasty & the gluten-free pasta was cooked just right... there's been so many times that I've had it in other places & regretted it, but The Smith delivered. We were so full that we decided to order the 3 ginormous chocolate chip cookies to take home... so very worth the calories! Will definitely be back.

Very well-kept place, above average clientele, well-trained staff. I recommend it for an aperitif at the counter, you can order both drinks and something to nibble on. As a tourist the toilet was also very clean and well maintained

Loved this place, went there as a visit with my cousins and we went for brunch great selection of food great customer service in a great location very clean and they also have a fun photo booth that you can use overall had a really nice time this restaurant and the food was amazing. I must go if you are in New York. Yummy food.

I've got 2 musts for my definition of a fine meal: Can they cook a steak, roasted chicken or salmon well? And do they have a side dish of some sort that's unique, fun and something I would never make at home? The Smith knocked both of those things out of the park! We had tickets for an opera across the street at The Met and thought this restaurant sounded convenient. As with most well-liked places in NYC, make reservations. Like most reviewers mention, this place is either loud of festive, depending on your personal vibe. We were just 2 people and enjoyed ourselves. I can imagine a large party here would be lost in the convivial volume. We had the roasted salmon and grilled branzino, both marvelous. But they had this side dish, "delicata squash" according to my receipt, that was out of this world. I remember our kind server even getting us the recipe (truthfully, I still haven't made it). Brigette was a terrific server and helped make our evening fun. I would absolutely eat here again, especially pre-opera. I even noticed one of the non-singing actors from the opera having a pre-show cocktail (I recognize him from Insta).

We were with friends and I must say that we had a very good time, very welcoming staff, really delicious food with top meat and top notch chips. It's really worth stopping by, congratulations

We went here for dinner and it was pretty good. The food and the service were pretty average. We came with family it was really busy and really loud so we couldn’t hear each other when we were trying to talk. Overall, it was just a pretty standard restaurant.

We visit the Smith almost every time we are in NYC. Good dependable food and a nice place to eat in the Upper West Side. Once you get a table ( and make sure you book ahead!). Service is always good as is the food, which is also generous in portions. Sides are large too.

The restaurant is busy, a bit loud, a little tight as far as table spacing, but the food and service made up for that. I had the rigatoni alla vodka and it was excellent, friends had steaks and chicken dishes in which they all reported were excellent. The wait staff was very attentive. There was a small issue with the timing of my food delivery and the manager was more than apologetic and offered a drink and an app to make up for the problem, which was rectified immediately. I would recommend a reservation, as we went at 5:30 and by 6:00 the place was completely sat. If you are looking for a trendy, fun, clean atmosphere…this checks the boxes.

The Smith was super busy when we arrived, we felt this was a good sign as obviously popular. We waited at the bar, not realising we could have ordered food at the bar, which we should have done. First table was very cold due to non stop gusts of wind caused by poorly designed two door entryway. We were moved without any fuss, the second table was marginally better. Had we not already waited for nearly an hour for a table, we would have left. Unfortunately our seats at the bar were also taken so we decided to grin and bear it. We were not the only people complaining about this issue. A couple of tables away one group got moved to the very back well away from the door. The next group also got moved, but whilst they waited to move, they sat with coats and hoods up. The food was mediocre and the tables were pretty close together, so not that comfortable. Had we been at the back, or just eaten at the bar, it would have been a better experience. I can only imagine how freezing most of tables at the front will be by the time we get to Jan/Feb. If they fix the door issue, the food is ok and the location is good.

Good pancakes, delicious cheese scones and good coffee (after sending it back for not having any actual coffee in - I got charged for the second attempt but it was a good coffee). Service a bit perfunctory but fine. Nice vibe and definitely worth a visit.

We were seated for breakfast and ordered fairly quickly. Our server did not come by very often to check on us. She never refilled my water for my tea and the food was not really hot. I was not impressed.

We ordered the Calamari and sent it back twice - very over cooked. Our other dish was just ok - nothing exceptional. The vibe was nice but nothing unique to that area of town. No plans to return - plenty of other places that are better but not as “known”.

The restaurant is nice, in the traditional New York brasserie style. But it is also horribly noisy! We did not want to give up when reading the previous reviews, but the fact is that we measured a background sound between 80 and 85 db (Apple app) constantly. Impossible to hold a conversation and even hear what the waiters were saying to us! The menu is quite attractive, the prices quite high as you would expect in Manhattan. Good burgers and fries, overpriced wine like everywhere.

This is the second Smith location at which I’ve dined. Consistently good food and service. This location is right across from Lincoln Center and has a large, wonderful outdoor dining area. I had the burger again, consistently good. I think next time I’ll have a big salad or pasta. The cocktails (I tried a few new ones from my East Village visit) were refreshing and not too sweet. I had the smoky wild flower, the tart basil lemon drop, and the sensuous sunset Paloma. My server was fantastic. The ticket says “Platt,” not sure if that is his first or last name. But he was very attentive and even sent me a warm, chewy, gooey, tasty cookie! So far, each Smith restaurant has been consistent on good food and drink, and excellent service. I wouldn’t hesitate to try these branches, or another branch, again.

I was so disappointed to see all these people coming in without a face mask. I ask the lady at the reception if the state law had change since yesterday and she mentioned that they took the decision not to upset the ones that are no longer want to use a face mask. I told her and what about the one who believe in the pandemic an are worry about this, she simply said that I should then stay home. Very disappointed that they don't give a s.... about regulation so no I wonder if they clean properly since they clearly don't care.

This restaurant is a real American bar with excellent food and very very kind service . The value for money is also good . Highly recommended place

Our first visit to The Smith was on a Sunday evening, and it was extremely noisy. We had almost decided to never return until we got our dinner. It was great, and the staff were amazing. We went back the next three mornings for breakfast, and we are happy we didn’t give up because of one noisy evening. The Smith offered a good selection for breakfast, including a children’s menu for our grandchildren. The staff are professional, courteous, friendly, and quick.

Very similar menu to neighboring PJ Clarke's. American standards. Very busy and somewhat noisy. Good food and pleasant service.

I am so disappointed in this place as soon as we sat down today for breakfast we were served in house tab water and in a second we all saw that the water was super dirty with flouting disgusting weird stuff inside. We asked for the manager he came and saw the water offered to switch it but we decided to leave . If the water is dirty imagine how their food would be. With current circumstances there isnt a second chance especially when its cleanness and health related issues that save and secure your life . I strongly recomend to be careful and go to cleaner spots .

Smooth table reservation, Friendly welcome, Tasty food, wide selection, great customer service. Everybody are smiling despite masks and covid restrictions. Professional Manager, attentive to Guests. The Smith is a good choice. We’ll be back for the lunch in a few days too ;)

Great food and drinks. Best restaurant if you're going to The Met. It's right across the street! This place really gets busy, so reservations are highly recommended. If the weather is nice there's a large outdoor seating area on the sidewalk.

This place has a great atmosphere, the staff are all really welcoming and absolutely on top of their game when it comes to service. The quality of the food is outstanding and the portion sizes are very good. I personally had a flat iron steak and it was cooked to absolute perfection!!! If you like a drink or two then don’t worry they’ve got you covered on that too. This is a definite go to for a guaranteed awesome meal with the atmosphere and service to match. Don’t pass it by!!!

We booked a table for NY 2024 at The Smiths in advance. When we arrived the restaurant had a nice vibe about it and we were shown to our table. The waiter was nice, and the welcoming but didn't go out of their way with it being New Years Eve. We were brought bread and water to the table and then eventually asked for our drinks order. We ordered our meal. My daughter ordered steak frites, which came with a peppercorn sauce. When the food arrived, my daughters peppercorn sauce was not with the meal. We asked for this twice and was told it would be sorted. The peppercorn sauce was brought out after she had eaten. The explanation was that the next batch was not ready. My son had a burger and chips. He ate this with his hands as he had no fork on the table. The dessert then came. We got given two desserts, one tiramasu and one sticky toffee pudding. This was apparently to share. They said tables of four share puddings... even though we had paid $75 each for the set menu. Tables of two got a pudding each. This made no sense to me. The waiter then came over and asked if he had upset me. I explained the issues we had had, and the manager then came over to apologise. I feel that the issues we had ruined the meal. The pudding to share was ridiculous when if you were a table of 2 or 5, you got more puddings. I would not go again.

My 8 year old found this on line searching for 'best pancakes in NYC'. He was not disappointed with his breakfast! Very friendly and efficient service. Really great food. And great environment - very stylish.

Great food and excellent service. Good selection of entrees, salads appetizers and deserts. Ideally situated across street from Lincoln Center and two minute work from Lincoln center subway stops. Definitely make reservations

Given its location, I could forgive the exorbitant prices. I could also probably forgive being seated three feet from the door on a cold winter night, requiring me to wear a coat and hat and endure a blast of frigid air every time the door was opened. What was harder to forgive was the recurring feeling that I was eating at an overpriced TGI Friday's. My $25 burger was overwhelmed by a mishmash of incompatible sauces, and everything was too salty. Everything was edible, but after dropping $100 on a dinner for two, I expected more.

This is one of my favorite lunch places. It's always great. The burger I got was cooked the way I like them & tasted very good!!! Love their fries also. It was great service too. I just wish it wasn't so very noisy but I'll put up with that...

I had the Rigatoni Alla Vodka. Fantastic!! This is a great place with great food and fantastic service. Warning though, a “medium” burger is very rare so order your burger more done than you usually do. They cook meat on the rare side. The hubs couldn’t finish his bloody burger.

An unwelcoming place with great confusion and noise, mass prepared food with “extra large” portions, poor and approximate service.

Really busy place, even on a Sunday night. My chicken parm special had a nice spice to it. My wife's burger was a bit overworked, giving a packy and grainy texture. In all,a nice place for a bite. Be sure to make a reservation.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and stopped by for breakfast the morning after we arrived. We liked it so much we ordered delivery the following night since it was too cold to walk there. Lastly, we spent our last night in NY here, food is great, fun playlist and genuine service. Cocktails were also on point.

Had a fun and delicious lunch on a sunny Friday. Great service and food. Lively vibe. Avocado toast has a real kick, hummus appetizer perfectly garlicky and the toasted tomato soup was decadent with melted cheese on top and croutons in bowl. No room for dessert be we’ll be back for sure.

Large popular restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating and a varied menu. We were seated outside which wasn’t great as the street is quite busy, would recommend sitting inside . Food was good and service was good as well

First time visit and we had heard great things about this place. We enjoyed the outdoor seating and service was good. The potato chips with blue cheese were the highlight of the meal. Everything else was fine. Not great and not bad. I would go back if I were with people who wanted to go, but with all the choices in New York, it wouldn’t be my first choice.

We had a lovely experience at The Smith. We weren’t in time for breakfast, but we’re offered brunch instead. I was glad we got there when we did, because it became busy and crowded quickly. Like most restaurants in America, the food was overpriced for what it is. Although most of the food lacked flavour, the restaurant had a nice buzz about it. Something tasted wrong with the water on the table, it was either tap water or the cleaning fluid used to wash the bottles or glasses hadn’t rinsed properly. We stayed for puddings and we were not disappointed with it. The servers were friendly and attentive.

Excellent place to go for a last meal. Calamari order was a little on the small side. They resurrected chicken pot pie, which was a long time favorite. Not much biscuit on top, and portion was in the small side for me. Taste was on par. Excellent place to come with that special person.

The portions are getting smaller and smaller. The salad was teeny. And almost embarrassing. the pressed chicken which was not so good. It was supposed to come with mashed potatoes and if there were 2 tablespoons that would’ve been a lot. There were literally four leaves of spinach with this portion. This Smith is a tourist trap, directly across from Lincoln Center. As such, they are taking advantage of their guests.

Really lovely service and delicious food, especially loved the fried chicken nuggets with the spicy peach jam starter. Only negative is that it can get hard to hear your dining companions once the place is in full swing during very busy times.

This is one of my favorite lunch places. Wonderful food & great service. The Mac & Cheese is to die for. And also the burgers!!! We will be back!

Extremely well managed with staff ably handling everything from reservations, busy pre-theater seating, and food service. Despite the crowds and popularity of this spot, ideal for pre-Lincoln Center dining, the staff is warm and efficient. Food is very good, meal extremely well paced, and it’s priced fairly for NYC. I believe the manager on duty on a Sunday afternoon was Michael? Kudos to a well run restaurant!

We ate here due to its close proximity to the Lincoln Center since we were seeing the Nutcracker. Excellent location as it was across the street. We were seated promptly and food arrived quickly. Oysters and black squid shrimp pasta was excellent. Best espresso martini I’ve had in many years. Apple desert was homemade and was fantastic. Will return.

This is everything anyone could hope for in a quintessential New York breakfast. Exceptional, creative, fresh and delicious menu picks. Gorgeous and soul warming latte. Excellent and genuinely friendly service from everyone working there no matter where you are in the dining room (or even on the way to the restroom!) One of the best views in NYC (directly across from the Lincoln Center). Best people watching- both in the restaurant and passing by. Don’t miss it.

Visited during Labor Day weekend and it was such a perfect place to eat dinner! The food was fantastic and the service was even better! I loved the Mac and Cheese!!!! I will be back the next time I’m in NYC!

Perfect restaurant for a Brunch, Lunch or Dinner. The crispy rice are amazing! The ambience is really nice! Good service and really fast.

Attention to your reservations made with Open Table. The site offers niches where the restaurant can no longer serve. Booking made in July for Christmas dinner and confirmed on the platform. Modified the same day by the restaurant because too late for them and then cancelled because the proposed time was not possible for us.

Saturday Brunch, Open table reservations for 11:30 a.m., for a party of 4, the restaurant was packed when we arrived both outside and in. We were seated right away when our party had all arrived. Service was very good. We ordered Bloody Mary’s and believe it or not the 3 of us all ordered the Smith Burger with Fries and the Smith Eggs Benedict. All the food came out made to order and all tasting great. I would definitely recommend this place just make sure you make reservations in advance. Atmosphere: open, airy, good for brunch. Service: very good. Food: very good.

Managed to find this restaurant via Tripadvisor , well what a find indeed. We loved the friendly atmosphere and the staff were so attentive . We shared the chips with blue cheese , followed by a shrimp Caesar salad and a steak, both dishes were delicious and reasonably priced compared to other restaurants . To finish we shared a sticky toffee pudding, delish +++. We would certainly recommend anyone to pay a visit here

Friendly service by Audrey! She was prompt and gave good recommendations. Very timely and always a smile. Definitely a place to return. Their Eggs Benedict are one of the bests. Plus they immediately provide both flat and sparkling water bottles for the table. The place was clean and with a positive vibe ambiance.

Chairs are made for children. An incredibly uncomfortable dining experience. Couldn’t even concentrate on enjoying the food due to butt pain from the narrow tin chairs.

Here you find the best pankakes ever and beyond. Staff more then kind and a welcoming and warm atmosphere. Not just for tourists. Stop for a real break

What a great spot! Huge bar with a huge selection of liquor. Met my friend before a 7:00 NY Rangers game. Recommend that you make a reservation (you can use Open Table-a great App) Our reservation was at 5:00. We shared a small serving of Calamari, which was spicy and tasty. We both ordered the NY Strip, a very good 12 ounce cut of meat that we both agreed was delicious and a good value. I had the Pilsner, a light crisp brew, which was great with dinner. My buddy had 2 of the Other Half brew, which, as a beer-lover, he enjoyed. The total bill with Tax and Tip came to $160, very reasonable for NYC post-pandemic. This location is far enough away from the Madison Square Garden that it was not too crowded, but only a 15 minute walk to the game afterwards, and much better than the bar food choices closer to the Garden.

Consistently tasty American fare with a side of NYC bustle. This place is always hopping. It’s not gourmet but everyone can find something they like and it’s a great location for Lincoln Center activities. The staff knows how to move you through without feeling rushed. It’s a good reliable option.

Marvin was a special type of server, very helpful with recommendations and attentive. We enjoyed drinks, and Spaghetti Bolognese and the bar steak. All well prepared and certainly enjoyed! A side of asparagus was really good too!

Overall good. The service was good. The food was good except for the spaghetti. They were happy to serve us at 10:30 after the Opera. They were very busy but service was still prompt.

We had breakfast there and dinner. For breakfast we had omelette, pancakes, granola and coffee. Everything was amazing except for coffee which is really bad, I’m talking about espresso and macchiato. We went there two days in row, location is great, it was across our hotel. Dinner was average, we had steak salad and pasta. Overall it was good I would visit again.

Do not go there. They will feed you legalistic bs that drink and food should be ordered at the same time, not even 10 min apart while tou are looking through the menu. All who lives in the City knows Cuomo’s questionable order. But taking it so literally is dumb. 27 later I did not get neither drink, nor anybody came to take the order, instead a manager fed me all the nonsense about “law and order”. Never going back there, will never recommend it to anyone, will not take my friends there. There are other places nearby, like Bar Boulud, Fiorello, PJ Clark. They all have much more reasonable, still adhering to the law services. The experience showed me one of the reasons why people, especially middle and upper classes leave NYC - that mindless self-destructing lefty zeal is killing the City.

We had tix for the ballet and this place looked really good. Made a booking (must have). Were seated inside at a lovely table facing Broadway. Ordered cocktails and the the crab tots. They were fantastic! Then the steak salad and the brick chicken. Both were very good. Excellent service throughout. Recommend if you are in the area.

Excellent meal on the terrace. Attentive waiter who was able to give us good suggestions. I would return without hesitation.

The Smith, all over New York is a great spot to get American food with a modern twist. Great for a work dinner or casual dinner with friends. The Nomad spot also has plexiglass between tables, hand washing stations and take your temperature when you get seated, so very safe! Recommended for a casual dinner!

The Smith is a fine but expensive (for the kind of place it is) restaurant. But we had an unpleasant surprise when we got the bill. We had ordered a glass of Pike Road Pinot Noir without noticing the price. It came in a carafe and was a large pour, probably 8 oz and was an okay, nothing special wine. It was $51! This wine on line ranges from $17 to $26. Some people would call that a rip off. Lesson: be sure to check the price on wine by the glass. That’s where they get you!

Outstanding. Good food, service and vibe. All top notch. Highly recommend. On a rainy day this place was packed and they seated us and took good care of us. The food is all amazing.

Although their id a Smith near my New York East Side residence, I usually go to the one of Broadway which has a wider outside view. My priority is Tomato soup 9without cheese) when Gazpacho is not available. Tuna tartare was a favorite until replaced by salmon tartare. Filet Mignon is excellent though overpriced. Their Hamburger may be an alternative though overwhelming with sauces/ships etc. Service on its Second Avenue spot is much is more welcoming than on Broadway

Went here for brunch on sat and was surprised with the drinks and food on offer but mostly the service. Highly impressed with Zoe who always followed up to see if we needed anything. Usually hate brunches but would recommend this one. Food was good and highly recommend the st germain drink which was also recommended to us!

This place is huge with indoor and outdoor seating en masse! We went here both for dinner and breakfast actually and the restaurant is more than good for both meals with perfect staff as well

We are in lock down due to the pandemic- but I have eaten in several times. The food is consistently fantastic- including their deserts. The service is lovely- I have been comfortable going alone to this place. A must have is their lobster rolls- exceptionally good. During this virus shut out- they offer a wonderful dinner for 2- choice of salad/pasta/entree/2 sides and they give you giant chocolate chunk cookies. Interesting preparations and high quality ingredients.

Lively and noisy dining spot. Relatively standard fare...a good burger served with a mountain of French fries, chicken was also good. Challenging to have a conversation over the noise so we left after our main course. Also visited for breakfast as the Broadway branch was close to our hotel and the breakfast was considerably more reasonably priced than the hotel! Good choice of breakfast classics...and much quieter in the morning!

Busy noisy but efficient friendly helpful wait staff. Cappuccino was actually HOT when it arrived at my table. Food was delicious.

The food here was great. Loved the gnocchi. Some of the best I’ve ever had. Our group also had the steak and it was very well cooked. They did a good job keeping you separated too. Will be back.

Stopped in without a reservation as a 6. We could have waited 30+ minutes for a table but chose to be seated right away at a hightop. Our waitress was pleasant and took drink orders. In the interim, a man came in to panhandle and was getting loud and confrontational. Management stepped in and used a calming approach and finally coxed him to leave. They apologized profusely and comped use some cookies and pancakes. We had the eggs Benedict, omelets and BLT on croissants. Everything was delicious, hot and plentiful. We welcome a chance to return sans the entertainment. Enjoy!

Met friends here for dinner. Big outside area. I had the Smith Steak which was fine, the gals had salads and my buddy had a burger. Excellent fries. Service was good, water refills were well anticipated. prices aren't bad

Loved the atmosphere of The Smith! We were in town looking for a local experience and it didn’t disappoint. The food was delicious! I had the mussels. It was a bowl full and they had the best flavor. Our waitress was so helpful and on top of everything our entire meal. It was a little loud, but I think that added to the ambience. Loved how close it was to Central Park. I highly recommend!

Nice place, good atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful. Prices like (unfortunately) 'normal' in New York. We only had drinks here.

Dinner was amazing. We had a reservation and was seated immediately. The staff are so friendly. The Smith burger was the best burger I have ever had and I loved the fries also. Service was so fast.

Fabulous Chicken parm. The salads were equally good as was the hanger steak. This was an exceptional meal. The calamari was the best ever.

It’s a local standard spot for the west side. Always crowded. Busy. And excellent food. We went for breakfast and dinner. The kids love it as well. The have a photo booth downstairs in the coed washroom. Just makes good memories and don’t times

The Smith makes you feel like NYC has returned. It is boisterous, vibrant and just a fun place to enjoy a meal. There is a huge outside dining area.

We chose this restaurant based on online reviews. The staff was absolutely perfect, great service. We didnt not reserve a table yet we were sitting down in less than 5 min. Food was delicious, fresh, quality ingredients were used. Clean bathrooms, although downstairs, mixed genders. Will come back soon!

Finally american breakfast Myself and my husband enjoyed the food alot The service were very nice The food qas good I would recommend it to friends

We were doing a weekend vacation to NYC for Independence Day. We had an early dinner here on the 4th and everything was great! I don’t remember the server’s name, but she was very attentive. Young blonde female (only one I saw that fits that description). Unlike the sour puss that sat next to us, we had a great time. It was nice to sit on the patio, enjoy the afternoon, watch the traffic on Broadway, etc. The food was on point and the drinks were refreshed often. The guy next to us ate most of his meal before lodging a petty complaint. They gave him a whole new meal which he took two bites of and got a to go container for the rest. Scammed them, IMO. I would eat here again. It’s well located across from Lincoln Center and a block or so from the Park. Good time!

My wife and I met a cousin for dinner when we left Lincoln Center after an afternoon opera performance. The restaurant is located immediately across the street from Lincoln Center so it was very convenient. We ate outside because the volume of noise inside made it difficult to communicate and was not conducive to a pleasant meal. The service was very good and the food was well prepared. Not gourmet food, but done well and at a reasonable price. My wife and I would eat here again when we return to Lincoln Center for another performance in the future.

Been a Smith fan for many years. Just had a wonderful pre-graduation lunch at the Lincoln Center Smith. The drinks were great but the food even better. Service top notch (as always) but the best part of lunch was we had a lovely bartender/server by the name of Nikki. After great service for the hour we were there while paying our bill Nikki informed us it was her first day on the job. Why to go Nikki & job well done. Folks at the Smith great job see you soon. MC

I have had other items here, but the burgers are the reason I keep going back. Just a really solid burger with great flavor .

The burger and fries were good, and the rigatoni were exceptional. Like the convenient location and helpful staff.

We came for breakfast twice. Service was great and the food was a good standard. Liked the atmosphere and it seemed very popular. We would come again.

This was my favorite restaurant that we ate at while in New York. We were attending a performance at Lincoln Center and this restaurant is very conveniently located. The corn and avocado salad and also the ricotta gnocchi were SO GOOD. Would recommend.

Restaurant with terrace. We ate inside, in a small alcove. Nice setting but very poorly soundproofed. Decent food but fairly high prices.

The food was amazing and the staff was more than accommodating in service but the place was unbearably hot!! We were literally sweating as we ate. There should be no excuse for that! The staff tried their best but it seems they are having AC issues so I say stay away until they get this problem resolved.. A place this reputable should NOT have this issue nor subject their workers to these conditions especially when it’s so hot and humid outside! We were dying so I can’t even imagine the people who were working in the kitchen!! Do better by your employees! I do have to say the staff handled themselves with grace and were very apologetic regarding the situation.

Great breakfast options. Not terribly expensive by NYC standards. Very close to Lincoln Center. Terrific service. Native NY people eat here - not just tourists.

It was a beautiful fall evening and the walk to The Smith was as nice as our experience. An interesting menu with professional and helpful staff, all for a fair cost. Great value for your money.

We sat outside on a perfect summer day. Staff was great. I had the avocado toast w poached egg and smoked salmon on the side. Yummy, not too much food. My friends enjoyed their meals. Place is very close to Central Park so walked there after. Highly recommend this place for brunch!.

Very noisy inside, poorly served and ill advised, Award quite expensive depending on the amount of food. In addition we are almost forced to hand with tips at 18/20/25% The tables are wobbly and we sit badly

Came here for brunch and was blown away! The Ranchero Scramble was so good, I can't stop thinking about it.

Good food and timely service at this restaurant conveniently located across the street from Lincoln Center. The lunch menu has a wide variety of choices. I’ve enjoyed the omelette, the bibimbap with salmon, and the caesar salad with chicken on various occasions. The restaurant leaves bottles of flat and seltzer water on the tables - nice touch. They also offer indoor and outdoor seating.

Best burger and fries I’ve had in a long time. Buzzy vibe and busy staff but overall a great experience. Very easy option after the ballet in the Lincoln centre

The Smith‘s food is consistent but mediocre. The service is constantly awful. The staff is rude, period. New COVID restrictions involve wearing a mask throughout your entire meal. Be prepared for anytime staff gets near your table to slap your mask on or they will not approach you. Fiorello, Bar Bolud and Pj Clark’s (all next door) are way better options and would go there before dining at the smith

A choice that never disappoints for brunch. Rather predictable menu with brunch standards, good quality large portions. Drink menu large, great coffee. It is always crowded but large space feels comfortable

Went for brunch. Very average food. Service was also slow and the establishment was very loud. Prices are high and food just didn’t stand out

This was right across the street from our hotel, the Empire Hotel, but after eating here I would have gone out of my way to eat here. Both the service and food were excellent. The Brussel sprouts were the best we have ever had and we have eaten a lot. We had lunch the first time and breakfast the next time. I wished we had come here for dinner…especially the night we had a disappointing dinner across the street at PJ Clark’s. I will be going here or another of their locations the next time I am in New York.

Have only come to this place for brunch. Food is always awesome. Service is a bit slow but I’m sure they’re understaffed like everyone. They do a great job and the blue cheese chips are a must!

The Smith is opposite the Lincoln Centre so got quite busy before an evening performance there. So, we found it convenient and would recommend it on that basis than anything else. The pressed chicken with garlic potato mash and spinach was good- hot and crispy. The salmon was tasty but rather small so we hastily ordered another side dish which was served pretty quickly. As with many places a glass of wine costs marginally less than a cocktail (and the negronis were good). The service is good enough but the suggested 22% is ridiculous (and not agreed).

The smith is a good restaurant, the personal is also good! And the food is fantastic! But you have to wait so much! But is a good restaurant ✓

An American-style restaurant, with several options to choose from, all the options chosen were delicious. The staff are very helpful.

We came here for dinner before seeing a show at Lincoln Center, and everything was superb. It was a good thing we made a reservation, because this place was very busy! This restaurant is deeper than it looks from the entrance, so there's plenty of seating. The black truffle arancini was utterly delicious, and the braised short rib fusilli melted in my mouth. The brick pressed chicken was also very good! The portions are pretty big, so you might have leftovers. We also liked that they only brought out two slices of bread (one slice for each of us), which helped us save space for the rest of the food. The bread was also freshly made. Our waiter was friendly and checked in on us often. It can get a bit noisy in here, so if you want a quietly refined restaurant, there seemed to be better options nearby.

Great breakfast. Friend and I split the Johnny cake eggs Benedict with chicken sausage. It was excellent. We really enjoyed our meal. Loved the sauce.

Ivisited here for breakfast. The waiter was nice guy but wasn’t too clean in serving the coffee. The food was of very good quality and taste. I ordered blte sandwich and my wife ordered poached egg on avocado toast. Both very delicious. The restaurant has an english style interior design with nice and calm colors and decor. I would recommend the experience.

Nice place. Good variety of food. Lunch crowd very different than dinner crowd. Enjoyed the food. Service was slowish and drinks weren't out of this world, but no complaints.

Our hotel recommended The Smith and we feel fortunate that they did. We eat well anyway - my husband is Italian, and an amazing cook; it is rare that we enjoy restaurant meals as much as what we have at home. The Smith won that honor however! Oh my!! The food was delicious!!! i had the spicy shrimp scampi and my husband had a pasta , peppers, and cauliflower dish. Both were amazing. I can't wait to go back and have the same meal. Our thanks to our wonderful server, Justin, and to the talented chefs at The Smith!

Why is there so many items with sesame seeds randomly thrown on? The rigatoni alla vodka is inedible.

Enjoyable and tasty but loud. If you're veggie try the bibimbap! Across the street from Lincoln Center so convenient to stop in before the show. Billy C was our server and he was very kind to our elderly crew!

We went here because we had read about their s’mores in a jar and that fit with our Fourth of July tradition. That was delicious, as was all food. Hamburger, gnocchi, squid ink pasta and chicken sandwich were had in our party. All loved their dishes. Big hit with our family.

Masks are required every time a server comes over...to deliver or take away a plate, bring a drink or a glass of water. Lots of outdoor seating. Food was delicious. We loved the salmon tartare and our friends loved the humus. I enjoyed my brick chicken. The pork chops were also a big hit.

We are through NYC fairly often and almost always eat at The Smith at least once every time. I live the atmosphere and the service is very good. Also convenient if you are attending the ballet or opera!

We spent hours running around the city trying to find a brunch spot on a Sunday, during covid. All while, we stayed 2 blocks away at the Renaissance Chelsea and could've stumbled over. With covid, most spots had excessive waits due to limited outdoor seating... The Smith only had a 30 minute wait, when we arrived (from driving across the city from the other place we tried to go to) we were seated immediately. There is MUCH more outdoor seating at this restaurant than any other we saw city wide. The menu has great options, and the food was amazing. You're given both still and sparkling water upon seating and use a QR code for your menu. Our waitress was nice, but not very attentive - she gave me 'new' vibes just based on speaking with her. Most restaurants require a mask until you're seated; however, The Smith you're asked to put your mask on each time the waiter/waitress comes to your table - which I understand is for safety, it's just a bit of a pain in the rear as they pop up randomly, mid bite, etc. The restrooms did throw me off a bit - the hand washing area is communal for both men and women - no big deal, just wasn't expecting it lol.

I chose this restaurant due to its proximity to Lincoln Center. I was glad I’d made a reservation, as it was quite crowded. My experience was superb. I was promptly greeted and shown to my table. Water was brought (still and sparkling). I already had looked at the menu online, but my friendly waiter helped me with my decision. I liked the way he knew the dishes so well! I chose the kale salad with shrimp. As I rarely eat kale, I was doing so at his suggestion that it was his favorite salad. It was so delicious! It had kale, cranberries, almonds, and a wonderful salty cheese. The lemon vinaigrette was wonderful and the shrimp were as well. I chose the “birthday cake” for dessert not realizing it would come with a lit candle! I had already gotten to know my dining neighbors, so we all had a nice laugh. The cake was also excellent. I know there are other locations for this restaurant and I will visit those, too.

If you’re looking for a great burger experience, this is THE place. Great service, great atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back next time. I’m in NYC.

Crazy busy loud with great food and service! Love Brunch and oysters here!! Fun drinks to experience and lots and lots of people watching

We had dinner here recently and it is a busy place , even on a Monday night . We were seated incorrectly and asked to move , which was no big deal at all , and they offered a free appetizer for the inconvenience which was very nice of the manager . We had the hummus appetizer , and having been to a Turkish place recently , the hummus did not measure up to that , but again it was complimentary and the bread brought to the table was very good . The main courses were the salmon which my wife enjoyed , and I absolutely loved the Ribeye . It was cooked a perfect medium and was the best one I have had for a while . One odd thing was it came with either fresh greens , fries or mashed potatoes . They don’t have baked potatoes which go perfectly with a good steak . Hard to believe a pub / restaurant does not offer baked potatoes . Lastly , I finished up with an espresso which was really bad . Just get regular coffee if you are used to espresso from Italian places . All in all a good place for dinner , especially for the ribeye

My friend and I chose The Smith because of its short walking distance to the Beacon Theater. Restaurant was crowded but service was good. It is a bit noisy but manageable. I had the Smith burger which was good and lots of fries.

Best Eggs Benedict I've ever had! I can say that because if it is on a menu I discriminate against the other choices. Not only the eggs were perfectly done but the sauce tasted fresh and was served at perfect temperature however the crown jewel of the course was the most delicious, crispy muffin human mouth has ever tasted. The Benedict was accompany by home fries also deliciously cooked, seasoned and with chopped onions and parsley, truly a great side dish. Because of the service and great food The Smith will be on my regular schedule for future visits to New York.

This review is for the Smith 1150 Broadway, Nomad section. We planned a trip into NYC for NYE and my husband and a bunch of friends got tickets to a club. But my son who is not 21 yet was not going to be let into almost all clubs. So I found the Smith had a Prix Fixe offering for NYE and did not require 21 to enter. The price was so reasonable, I was so grateful. They had a very nice time and the food was wonderful. I know the food was good because the kids could not finish their entree since the apps where so good, so they brought it back to the room and when we got back there around 3 AM we were grateful they had something for us to eat, and it was amazing!

We enjoyed lunch at The Smith this week. We had a reservation and were seated very quickly. The lines started forming while we were settling in with our menus online. We enjoyed the potato chips with blue cheese fondue and shared the salmon platter. Beautiful weather and well separated table with plexiglass made it very comfortable. Wait staff was very efficient and attentive. Just have to remember to wear your mask when staff is nearby which is hard while chewing.

We booked a table for five, was actually looking forward to going here. But as tourists we got a little lost en route and arrive 20 minutes late. We were told in no uncertain terms that they only hold tables for 15 minutes. Which I get! It’s a busy place. Regardless they said our table was ready and took us over. It was a table for 2 with five chairs. !!!! I have three grown sons, 22, 19, 14 yrs there was no way we would get five plates of food and drink on that table. When we raised this with the waiter they said take if up with the host. Anyway the result was we would wait another 40 minutes maybe or leave. Found a lovely Italian next door that looked after us, and had a decent sized table. My guess here like so many places is that they know tourists down return and therefore have a take it or leave it attitude. Such a shame as they live on that very tourism…..

A good and interesting menu. I ate here four times in three weeks, lunched and dinners, plus one brunch. I'd definitely recommend it, but it is not cheap! Side dishes are sides for two people not one unless you have a huge appetite. Skip the wine it's over-priced and not good, except the Prosecco. The choice of beer is very good.

Terribly overrated. Someone forgot to them the men in this place how to act like men. Can’t even drink your wine without being told to put your mask up.

We ate on the terrace: passing by but this is New York! View of Flatiron. Flawless service. The interior is beautiful. Excellent pancakes 🤩

I was really 'itching' for a steak lunch, so popped into The Smith in The East Village for the following: (1) Shrimp cocktail for starters. Fresh and tasty; (2) Filet mignon with a bucketful of fries and creamy peppercorn sauce/Roast salmon with little gem Caesar; & (3) Double chocolate and vanilla ice cream. The food was tasty and just how we like it. Service was a little slow, which is quite unusual for this joint. The atmosphere was quiet given the Covid-19 set-up with limited numbers. I would recommend it for lunch.

The Smith was across the street from The New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center. It was very noisy, and I had a hard time talking to my table of people. The food was good, and the portions were big. The staff paid attention to us. I made a reservation, so we did not have to wait. It was a little pricy.

The place has a wonderful atmosphere! Nice place ! The food is great, but not so many variety when you try to scape from the traditional sandwiches and salads. Anyway, great service and warm people. Specially the mangers that are always trying to do the best for you. By the way, to start, order the salmon spice ! It is a delicious !!

Food was fine but bring your ear plugs! It has to be the loudest restaurant I have ever eaten in. Do not come here if you’re going to have a romantic dinner with someone

A friend suggested The Smith for dinner and upon entering I was impressed by the ambiance. We arrived early without a reservation. I would recommend you make a reservation at peak times since the restaurant filled up quickly. I would also suggest sitting inside rather than outside with the loud traffic and people walking by. Our appetizer of Brussels sprouts to our main course and dessert were all excellent. Kudos to the kitchen staff and servers.

My wife and I ate lunch at The Smith with our 5 year old son on a cold and windy 36-degree day! Fortunately they had heat lamps which helped and the restaurant was family friendly. Food: Very good. We had a grilled chicken sandwich, burger, and brussels sprouts. There was a generous portion of fries. The brussels sprouts were divine. We also loved our burger and chicken sandwich. Service: professional and courteous. Decor: we ate outside due to NYC closure of indoor dining related to COVID-19 concerns. The Smith had ample heat lamps which came in handy on a windy and cold (36-degrees) December day. They do not have outdoor tents. Cost: reasonable for this area of Manhattan. We paid $62 for our bill excluding tip for the meals listed above and two non-alcoholic beverages. Overall, The Smith is worth a visit if you find yourself in Lincoln Center and looking a delicious meal.

This place was absolutely delicious! We came in for breakfast right when they opened. Ample seating with very cute vibes! The food was amazing. My only complaint was the cappuccino had a burnt flavor but everything else was so good that it wasn’t even worth a complaint!

As part of our first trip back to NYC, we wanted to go to a place with genuine American dishes. At our hotel, they recommended we try out The Smith. We decided on the one on Broadway, just across Lincoln Center. The food met the mark, with the burgers, mussels, and steak and fries standing out. Good wine options. However, the service could have been better. We were directed to a very noisy table by the kitchen, as we were told that other vacant tables were to be used for onboard training (talk about putting your customers first). Our server was great, though. We will try it again next time to see if we get everything right.

The Smith during the day & the Smith during the evening seem to be very different places. The food for my main meal was great, served quickly and fairly good value. The waiter also gave some good suggestions for accompanying drinks which was handy. But at night, it's very loud and crowded & i had two different (expensive) prices for the same drink. Personally, i'd avoid in the evening.

Always busy, always fun and decent food at a fair price. This area can be pricey, so this is a good mid-range budget option. We went past 10 pm after a concert - and it was as busy as it would have been at 8 (which is a good thing). Get the salad with crispy parmesan!

The smith was a disappointment. We ordered the smith burger and were met with a sad dry bun, unseasoned meat, pickles, and no trace of the bacon jam. For 50$ we would much rather have just gone to shake shack.

I came here with a big work party on a Tuesday night. We were initially handed a prix fixe menu, but the were kind enough to accommodate us and give our 15 person table the full menu! Thank you!!! Appetizers for the table: (1) Spicy Salmon Tartare (2) Potato Chips (3) Shishito peppers (4) Burrata - Literally ALL were phenomenal. They also served some delicious bread that I further enjoyed with the burrata once all the delicious ciabatta was devoured. As far as meals go, I ordered the Salmon. It was plated beautifully and the miso broth really brought the dish together. I tried some my coworkers' meals: the the butternut squash Schnitzel and also the pot of mussels. All the mussels were open, and we further utilized the bread on the table to soak up the delicious chardonnay broth. The schnitzel was also divine and paired well with the braised red cabbage. While we did enjoy wine, the Gatsby was a delicious way to start the entire meal off, and they serve them for $10 during happy hour! I was too full for dessert, but several people near the end of the table shared several that looked tasty! I did sneak a bite of a cookie, and I highly suggest ordering those! Service was spot-on the entire night, and if I ever make it back to New York, I will happily grace the doors of this restaurant again!

Great experience. At the outset they checked vaccination cards and ID. Venue was set up to be safe and was quiet and pleasant. The service was wonderful. Concerned but not overbearing. Available but not in your face. The food was well prepared and tasty. An overall good experience. Definitely would recommend.

My Wife and I ate a late lunch at The Smith after attending a performance at Lincoln Center on Friday afternoon. We both had the Smith Burger, which was very good and was accompanied by enough fries for several people. The waiter Bruce provided very good service. The only negative is for 2 burgers and a cocktail for each of us, we paid over $100 including tax and tip.

We called in here twice, once for lunch and the other time with our grandson for dinner. We were greeted and sat virtually straight away. The menu had a very good choice and the place has a lovely vibe. Staff were very approachable and saw to our needs especially with having a little one with us.

………….a good steakhouse, and a great place to have some drinks. …………appetizers, main course, and desserts are fabulous.

Solid NY dinner experience. Great food. (the chicken nuggets were surprisingly good). Great service and great vibe. Cocktails were on point too.

I had high expectations for place as it came highly recommended by friends, only to find average food quality and service.

Walking inside, The Smith has a French Bistro feel. The restaurant is packed and the wait staff are hustling. I'm here for a quick drink and a good burger. The Smith has delivered both impeccably. I sit down and my waitress brings over a cocktail menu. I chose, The Old Flame. Made with Rye & Campari, this was a delicious and savory cocktail. The Smith? Makes a really good pub burger. They had a bouji, high end burger on the menu but the standard burger to me sounded great. The bun? Tasted very fresh, like they made it in house. The burger patty? Man... this meat blend is perfecto! Very juicy, it elevated the burger to rock star status. What tasted a little funky was the pickling on the sliced pickles. Once I pushed them off the burger, I was able to snap back to nirvana. The French Fries? Soooo good. Unfortunately, French Fries should be eaten in very limited quantities, their portions are huge. If you love french fries then rock on! Overall, great meal at Lincoln center. If you're looking for a French Bistro - gastropub pub in the Lincoln Center area, Consider The Smith.

Dinner at The Smith-Lincoln Square. The food was very good. Tables are a bit tight and the noise level is pretty high. If they turned down the music the volume of conversations would drop. But I am sure many people like the music. Service was very good. I would highly recommend reservations. We were there on a Sunday evening and got our table right away, folks without reservations were waiting.

Was recommended The Smith and booked a table at Lincoln Square. Lively, energetic atmosphere with great service and food. Had a perfectly cooked fillet steak and heavenly sticky toffee pudding. Best restaurant we ate in during our trip!

We made a meal of shared appetizers and wine for a pre-performance meal. The Mac n cheese was stellar, as was the calamari. Skip the fried carrot sticks, which were unremarkable, soft, and home freezer-variety. The house Riesling paired well with the appetizers, although the "carafe" was on the small side and pricey. Still, the excellent, friendly, respectful service and the proximity to Lincoln Center, literally across the street, made for a relaxing, pleasant experience. My impression is that the place is well-managed, organized, and customer oriented. We'll be back.

Came for brunch and everything was delicious. We got the vanilla bean French toast to share for the table which was amazing. Service was spot on.
Great Beef and Atmosphere!
There are a few locations, but The Smith overall has an unmistakable menu selection, and a signature photo booth downstairs.
