Nice stop before catching train

By Barbara N |

We stopped here for dinner before catching a late train at Penn Station, which is a block or two away. Menu was mostly sandwiches and pub food, perfect for what we were looking for. Our sandwiches were great. Service was friendly and prompt. Nice vibe. Great place to unwind.

Night out

By sdrag |

Great atmosphere on a Monday night, staff very attentive, drinks reasonably priced and the food was a bonus. If visiting from the UK well worth a night out.

Hit the afternoon spot

By themrs |

Centrally located near our hotel, VOCO. Roasted Turkey sandwich flavorful and delighting. I love a restaurant that has sweet potato fries on a menu!

Every thing you need from a bar.

By peggygwen18 |

Lovely bar, near our hotel. Eat in there, every night of our four night stay. Good food, friendly staff, would strongly recommend.

Holiday

By Dave R |

Great boozer

By chinabairn |

Found this place almost by accident on a holiday to New York last week..and so glad we did. Great atmosphere, drinks reasonably priced for area. Had a steak one night before a gig at MSG, and it was fantastic as well. Staff were brilliant and so friendly. Was great for this big Scot to find a great Local during our Big Apple stay.

Great pub, good food, very comfortable

By NyLynne |

Stopped in with family for dinner. We ate in the pub area, which is quite spacious and allows diners to chat easily even as the bar area filled up. Food arrived quickly and was very good.

Friendly and efficient bar staff

By AwayDays_Rich |

First port of call when we arrived as local for our hotel. Long journey so tired and thirsty. Fairly busy but given a table in a corner and we weren't attended to. Desperately I went to the bar and a friendly young Irish lad served me drinks. This didn't go down well with the waitress who we didn't see again. We walked. Called in again, later on in our stay and again received great service from the bar staff. Very good ambience and nicely decorated with the tailor's original tools that adorn the walls.

Unfortunately, an all around bad experience

By Erethel |

There were five of us for lunch and pretty much all of us had problems. Drinks ordered and all of the mixed drinks were wrong. Received a baked potato instead of the loaded one. When they took it back it took 15 minutes to get the loaded one, and it was really awful. Just tossed some broccoli and cheese on it. Many better choices in the area!

Good bar for drinks but not the best for food

By Vanessa F |

The location of this pub is great. The main floor of the restaurant is a bar with a good amount of flat screen TVs to watch the games. The beer selection was good. Then when you go upstairs to eat it’s vibe goes from fun to boring. The food was ok. Not good and not bad, just OK. Prices were reasonable for the area. The waiter was nice. I’d come back but only for a beer or two before going to MSG.

Cheers!

This side street bar/restaurant is right on 8th Ave, NYC a few blocks from the train station. What a comfortable demeanor this place exudes! It reminded me of the kind of place where sports fans, NYPD and firefighters might converge on any given night. There is a huge old fashioned bar on the first floor with pub tables for seating and an upstairs for dining. You can order off the menu from the bar which we did. The lobster Mac and cheese was so delicious! Friendly bar staff, good prices and convenient within walking distance of major NY attractions. Stop in when in NYC!

Good bar and good food

By Daniel Wood |

After landing at JFK from London Heathrow and catching the subway into NYC, my wife and I needed a quick (but substantial) dinner after a very long day. This was right around the corner from our hotel and was perfect for what we needed. A good selection of food, good sized and tasty meals, served quickly by friendly staff. There was a good selection of drinks on offer too, especially draught beers. (Advice for Brits - treat this as a bar rather than a pub!) In conclusion a good little bar with good food, would highly recommend for a relaxed meal and drink.

Good food, server was too busy talking

By James A |

12/5/23 1:48 PM stopped in for lunch and I got the Chicken Tenders ($12.00) and they were very good with the sauce provided. Wife got the Chicken Dumplings ($15.00) also very good. The waitress/server never filled our water glasses and we had to flag her down to get the bill, it was more important for her to talk with the hostess than to tend to her tables.

Great for drinks and quick grub

By AlexMa1981 |

We stopped for a couple of pints on way to our hotel, just around the corner the New Yorker. The service was quick and friendly , the prices reasonable. Good choice of beer and lightbites on the menu. They also had a live band on which was great fun!

Terrific Taylor’s

By Teresa C |

We went here for just a drink to check the place out and it’s a truly lovely Pub, we could see people eating lunch sitting close by and it looked really good so we will be going back to sample there food, hopefully it will taste as good as it looked. The ambiance in this Pub was brilliant and the lady just inside the door was so friendly and nice. We are going back

Lovely cosy Irish pub in busy NYC

By madeleine |

Great atmosphere, beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations, good service and great choice of drinks and not bad prices. We visited 3 times during our time in New York.

Don’t let it drift by…

By Stevie1972 |

Our last night in NYC before travelling back to the UK. Decided to call in after the NY Rangers game arriving about 10 pm. The bar was lively with a good vibe generated by the staff and the sports on the TV screens Sat at the bar and had a few drinks. Prices were reasonable but the bar staff were attentive with plenty of chat. We didn’t eat, but food was being served well into the evening. Would definitely be back based on the atmosphere.

Rip off, 3 course arrive together

By JanMc60 |

1st course arrived , just started eating then 2nd course arrived, starter went back crab mac cheese as so salty. Asked for 2nd course to go back as still hadn’t finished starter, food is overrated, over salted , over cooked & way over priced, drinks are expensive, some of the staff quite rude, certainly wouldn’t return here

Lively Irish bar

By ANDY K |

Very lively Irish themed bar with sports on the TV and music to the fore. We called for a quick drink that was well priced and poured and I enjoyed a Trumers Pilsner. There is plenty of seating but maybe not the bar for a romantic night.

OUR LOCAL WATERING HOLE

By Diane C |

My partner and I loved this place, just next door to our hotel this became our local. A wonderful bar with great atmosphere and the bar staff were the best, very friendly and engaging, it felt that we had known for forever. We had dinner here one night and the food was great and the service was prompt and friendly. We also had lunch before leaving for our flight home. However, the best thing was sitting at the bar chatting to strangers and enjoying for my partner his favourite BLUE MOON. Thanks to everyone at The Tailor.

Great bar.

By Glantann |

Came here during stay in Feb. Staff were superb. Very good. Didn't eat here just had few drinks. Came back again twice more. Will def return when I'm back in nyc

Excellent Venue

By Bexs186402 |

Whilst staying in New York for 4 nights we found this little gem just around the corner from our hotel. We ate there every day as the food was exceptional and the staff were so friendly. The menu had lots of choice and was very reasonably priced. The bar had a lovely atmosphere and we were really sad to be leaving as it really did form part of our holiday memories.

To be avoided......

By Karen H |

Avoid at all costs, simple as that. Food terrible, drinks watered down, too loud and no ambience. We should have known as we entered that the place was a dive......no-one eating was the big giveaway.

Great little bar

By Dhuleep sanjay |

Dropped in for a late lunch and drink after a 200 mile drive. Fantastic staff, nice burger and wings.

Brunch?

By Gloria L |

They advertise brunch but we went in late morning for brunch and there were no items for breakfast type offerings, just for lunch or dinner.

Amazing bar. Great staff and

By Sarah B |

Amazing bar. Great staff and a lovely pub in NYC. As soon as we came in we were greeted with a warm welcome. Staff are friendly and attentive. They also talk to you and make you feel at ease. The bar itself is lovely you can sit and have a drink or have some food. We had the steak sandwich which was absolutely amazing and really good value for money compared to other places in the city. Plenty of choices for drinks.

Fun, funky bar close to the New Yorker

By JGeigel |

Walked half a block from the New Yorker to grab a late dinner Saturday night after a day doing the tourist things! We were beat from a day of walking. Was surprised by the cool decor and vibe of the place. Seated up stairs. Did not wait long for a server. A little odd that there are different beers available on the 2nd floor bar vs the 1st floor bar, and if you're on the 2nd floor, you can only order from what's available at the 2nd floor bar. I guess it makes sense when it's busy, and our server grabbed us our beer choices from the 1st floor. We had the pear and gorgonzola flat bread, which was delicious, and the half-roasted chicken. The chicken was a bit dry, and the mashed potatoes and gravy served with the chicken were just meh, but the roasted roma tomatoes were delicious. We'll give it another try.

Daughters 21st birthday trip

By Karen S |

Great place we had food and cocktails, staff were so lovely and helpful, we had a brilliant evening here tonight, thank you so much for a lovely night 😊

Great bar, great food!

By Andrea L |

This was our first night in NY and it was 3am UK time so feeling a little frazzled! Waitress was lovely (didn't get her name, she looked like a young Sandra Bullock) obviously enjoyed her job and was super helpful. We had a burger and club sandwich which we couldn't fault, shared a cheesecake which was huge!!! They set the bar high for the rest of the holiday

Cosy Bar!

By The Trusty Trip Gal! |

Me and my partner called in this bar for a drink one of the nights as we were passing! Instantly I liked the bar because it gave me a homey feel! Very warm and cosy feel! Drinks were nice! Staff very friendly and service great!

Good Experience

By Ryan T |

Excellent food, drinks, and service! We visited this restaurant last year while in NYC and liked this place a lot so we returned. Definitely happy we did. We were most impressed with the wait and service staff. The wait staff were very attentive to customers and even helped cover others tables. Oh did I mention the drinks were awesome and nicely priced! We will return before we depart.

Good value, good food, good service

By Christopher L |

A very solid pub. Good Reuban & fish and chops. Nice selective of IPAs. Good service and feasible prices. What's not to like.

By garry w |

Very cute and good food

By Alessandra |

It's a very, very nice pub, the food is very good and the girls who work there are very kind, especially Michelle. Prices are in line with those of NY, where unfortunately everything is expensive. I absolutely recommend it.

Great Pub Food

By jupiterman3000 |

Needed to kill two hours before a train trip and found this great pub . Spacious seatings and good service. Had the chicken lentil soup which was great and the turkey burger. Great place for lunch and drinks.

Good bar

By Tigerstedge |

Went for drinks with friends. Great bar upstairs at the back. It was a Friday night and atmosphere was really good, service excellent and good choice of beers and drinks. Recommend for a good relaxed pub type place

Under rated!!!

By henno101 |

This place is a nice, clean bar / restaurant. We ate here twice. The chicken flatbread - great! The tomato / cheese salad - wow

Nice PUP in the middle of town

By Peter K |

Very nice Pup and Bar with a great selection of draft beers. I like the Bar Menu with some smaller bits. My favourite Chicken Wings Buffalo style. But other food looked also quite good. Very lively, the bar can be loud!

Great casual dining and drinks option close to Madison Square Garden.

By BeachBound |

Busy Saturday night. The restaurant has different levels, bars, and eating areas. It may looked packed from the street, but the restaurant is huge. We just wanted late night pub food. Hot wings, mozzarella sticks, French fries, and a cheeseburger with cold beer and sodas. Everything was really tasty and reasonably priced. The topper was exceptional, quick service from our waitress. Very friendly, intuitive, brought a water pitcher to the table, and kept checking on us. The food was brought out quickly and was hot. Great casual dining and drinks option close to Madison Square Garden.

Excellent food - great atmosphere!

By Roxannne M. |

Very sportman bar like atmosphere. The food choices were great and the clam chowder was amazing. Staff was very friendly.

Great people, great atmosphere

By Aaron F |

Found this place still going on Christmas Day late at night with my brother. Got talking to the bartender jimmy and he was very welcoming. Told him we would pop back in whilst we’re here on holiday and came across a lad called Ed. Both made us feel at home and provided great service along with the atmosphere the venue has to offer. Great place to meet new people and not bad prices for NYC. would recommend to anyone. Thanks again jimmy and Ed for making our experience in New York everything we wanted, top lads!! Straight 5*!!! Aaron and Jordan

Amazing pub in city

By Kev&Ruby |

This is a great pub in the city. Very popular with great drinks choice and nice food options as well. Staff were great and it has a really cool atmosphere.

GREAT PUB

By craig1188 |

Was in New York during the world cup, plenty of TVs to watch and a good selection of beers and wines, food also available

Fantastic place.

By Gary Buglass |

Absolutely loved this place. Reasonably priced drinks, fantastic food and the bar staff were excellent and super friendly. The music played is also fantastic and during our time in New York we were here on a number of different nights. The pub did not disappoint us once. Highly recommended for a few drinks or food. Fantastic!!

Well placed near Madisson SG

By aziz s |

Very good atmosphere and nice trendy decoration with plenty of screen to see the matches. For Christmas they did things right... Nice service. Dinner was without more... basic...

Good honest Pub food in vibrant atmosphere.

By HentyH9 |

Looking for a homely meal in a casual pub atmosphere this was spot on. Staff pleasant, good pub food and vibrant.

Excellent staff, great food, great atmosphere

By RAMZU94 |

The Tailor was a delight to visit, such a no judgement zone. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly, thank you Gianmarco for your excellent service and also the manager whom came up to check that we were doing alright. The food came out in a timely manner, I would recommend the Mahi Mahi tacos as well as the Tailor Fish and Chips that were perfectly cooked and delicious. I had the Designer cocktail, if you're into something smooth, not to sweet and with a little spice I would definitely recommend this drink. I am definitely going to go back and visit again!

A good find !

By tcasLondon |

After many years visiting this great city it was time to break old habits and find a new “ local” bar / restaurant. This was suggested by a member of our group It was very close to where we were staying . Once we arrived we were quickly seated upstairs. The large interior was impressive and for early in the week was quite busy. The young blonde Irish lady who initially served us was very cheerful and friendly . Out of our group of six , four of us ate. I went for the beef sliders with a side of mash and as the evening progressed, three mini bottles of Prosecco . Sliders where very nice and just enough, three , to fill me up . Nice friendly atmosphere , clean , great location and good prices and good service

Busy bar

By 222268 |

We ate upstairs, extremely loud. Much more of a bar feel, not sit down restaurant feel. We could barely hear each other. Food was just ok. I had the goat cheese salad and my husband had steak sandwich which he wouldn’t order again. This was by our hotel, we wouldn’t return.

Was in private area upstairs

By motherJo |

Our meet up group around 25 of us went for early dinner. I had the tailor burger. Came with fries delicious. Everyone loved their orders. My friend really enjoyed the turkey burger and one friend had turkey sandwich she also really loved. Nice space

Great bar love the ambience!!

By maritzabruno |

Kitchen ok, service no

By Matteo C |

We returned after a great evening, served by a very attentive waitress... unfortunately the second night was a disaster. The kitchen is absolutely ok!!! The service, unfortunately, not under control: if the waitress doesn't feel like it... you're screwed.

Great Spot.

By marriott946 |

Only popped in for a drink with friends. Nice friendly staff. Menu looked OK if we'd been eating. Guiness was rather good. Thank you Team Taylor

Great pub in the heart of NYC

By Johannes S |

We visited more than 2 times this Pub and it was great. The service personnel was friendly and very quick. Also drinks and food was very good. Pricing ok for NYC.. Every time when we visit NYC again, we will go again to The Tailor‘s public house.

daily day in NY

By Trevor L |

Irish bar ran by non Irish people that didn’t really make us feel welcome xx Took our order and got a starter wrong, asked to exchange it which was not well received. Mains came out, nothing really special if i’m honest. Would i go back…. not really

Positive experience

By Fabrizio T |

We had dinner here a few nights during our stay in New York. It's a very nice pub, with a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The menu is varied and the quality of the food is good, the bar is well stocked and the staff are friendly and courteous. By New York standards the prices are low.

Family meal

By maggieletherby |

This was my second visit, during my stay in New York. Excellent venue for a family meal. I had calamari to start , huge portion but yummy. I ordered Crab cakes for mains , with truffle chips. When the crab and asparagus cakes arrived they looked delicious. However , the asparagus was not cooked and the centre of the cakes was cold. I complained, the server returned them to kitchen , came back and said it would be 5/10 minutes. After 15 minutes they still hadn’t arrived, the other members of my party had almost finished their mains. I advised the server, don’t bother with the crab cakes. The truffle chips were amazing. We were not charged for my mains . I did return to the Tailor Public House for another meal and had the Lobster MAC and Cheese which was absolutely gorgeous. Please do not be put of by my one bad experience. The food, atmosphere, ambiance, the staff , service, value for money is excellent.

More for drinks than food

By Sean W |

Very noisy and busy but good vibe. Service was slow and front of house hostess disinterested. Food was good, we had a Cobb salad and a beets salad but more of a bar than an eating place. So much choice in NYC

A gem of a Pup @ 35th Street/8th Avenue

By george b |

Great food, great atmosphere. Diagonally opposite Madison Square Garden : close to the New Yorker Hotel. Also close to the Penn subway station. Good musical acts. Well worth a visit. Irish connection, Beautifully run establishment with friendly staff,

Welcoming

By Leigh R |

We stumbled on this pub by accident and I'm so glad we did!! Bar staff were absolutely lovely, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was delicious and the sold Strongbow cider on draught and it was to die for. The place was spotless. What I liked about it was you could sit at the bar or at a table and the service was all first class. Keep up the good work guys u were all fab.

Brilliant

By Tour802334 |

Best pub in NYC a great set of staff and some funny customers. WE caught this place a little too late in our long weekend break, we missed Friday and Saturday but still great and the irish breakfast has baked beans, so it was like Yorkshire Caviar

Amazing!!!

By thellers |

One of my favourite bars in NYC. And that’s a tough choice! Yes, it’s busy. Yes, if you’re British, it feels a bit like a Wetherspoon’s. However, the mood is always excellent, the bar staff are genuine and friendly as hell, the pours are good on the spirits, and the whole place just feels right. Perhaps that’s me being biased as a Northern English geezer who likes a drink. Nonetheless, I highly recommend this gaff. It makes me feel so at home every time I visit NYC. Highly commended!

Pretty good

By TheTraveler |

Live music, great wings, cold drinks, good service. Dark, small corner bar & grill. Nothing bad to say. Small menu, live music a little too loud.

Good food, crazy busy at night

By Barbara N |

We were here twice. First at night for a drink after a show. It was crazy busy and took a while to order, but we found a table to sit at. Nice vibe. We came back for dinner the next day and sat at the bar. Service was excellent and food was good. Beer was cold. Everything we could ask for!

Great food and great location

By candylove20 |

So the specials for Friday night and went in to have dinner. Service was great and fast. Food was delicious. I had the salmon and husband had the steak (perfectly cooked) well seasoned. It was not too crowded, maybe because it was a little late. Saturday nights they have DJ and free cover. This is a place that will come back as the distance from the hotel is great.

Neighborhood bar

By Petcatlvr |

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, cold beer and good food. We have been in here 4 times in our 5 day stay, well worth it, will miss this place

Crackin pub

By leejames69 |

This pub is great for drinks and food and the welcome is what sets it apart …everyone i met in here were great..staff very friendly…take a seat at the bar and enjoy

Great pub

By Alan B |

There is a real vibe about this place. We visited on a Tuesday night and the place was really busy with both drinkers and eaters. There were musicians playing and a real party atmosphere. We sat at the bar and had a generous plate of chicken wings in a spicy sauce. Very tasty and tender. There is a large selection of cocktails and beers. We tried a couple o& the local tap beers and we had no complaints. Great spot for a relaxed informal evening.

Ottimo punto a Times square

By Francesco D |

We found the kitchen really good, I mean I choosen the cheeseburger and it was made with good and fresh ingredients. The staff is nice. My wife and I, as Italian tourists, suggest it. No hesitations.

The Tailor public house is awesome

By Matthew F |

Came here 3 yrs ago for the 1st time and now this year we’ve come back 3 times in 5 days! Ambience is great, the staff are amazing especially Sam & Zoe! Not eaten here as of yet but it looks good! Close to Madison Square Garden. Well worth a visit

Awesome Pub

By Jon I |

We stayed at a hotel near the Tailor Public House and we discovered this gem the first night we arrived. After long days of sightseeing most nights we gravitated to The Tailor for food and adult beverages. The food is good, drinks on point and the staff are both fun and attentive. One bartender Jack (from Ireland) really stood out as hard working and fun. Thanks Jack, you’re awesome!

Pretty place close to New Yorker Hotel

By Becky L |

We were hungry and looking for a place close to our hotel when we stumbled upon this place. The highlight of our visit was the beautiful Christmas decor; it sure got us in the Christmas mood. I had the crab cake appetizer - it was very good. My friends enjoyed their clam chowder and burgers. The service was a bit slow, but we were not in a hurry. We sat at a table near the door and froze, but the heat finally came on right before we left and then it was better. I'd go back again if in the area.

stopped for a drink....

By Gemma Higson |

stopped for a drink.... in the middle of the Covid epidemic.... the ONLY bar that makes you sanitize your hands on the way in.... well done.... this is what all bars should do.... also amazing bloody marys

Loud Loud Loud but Good Good Good

By Hugh |

I needed to find a place for dinner in the area and landed in the Tailor. It was very loud, television screens on every available wallspace. It is basically a big sports bar, ful of an animated and well oiled after work crowd. The food was excellent. I had the crab cakes. I was able to tune out the noise after a few minutes and settled in to enjoy my meal.

The food is good, nice selections

By Roeann F |

We stayed at the EVEN hotel just around the corner so at dinner here two evenings. The clam chowder is the best I've had other than when I was in Newport, RI. All the food was good, drinks were also generous with okay wine selection. The enviroment is very loud, which took away from the dinning experience. It was great enough food that we set aside the noise and went back a second day.

Very accommodating and good food

By Sherry R |

I book this for a group meeting I have there. We are given a large choice of options for a set price so it works. But the food is good and that would likely be true whether for a group meal or smaller. The restaurant is very clean and i appreciate that with very reasonable prices.

Dinner and drinks in New York

By rebel187 |

We came here the first time after a disastrous attempt to get dinner elsewhere and were shown upstairs as they were quite busy. Despite being busy we were attended to quickly with menus and drinks. The food we ordered was served speedily and we were never forgotten about. Our waitress was superb. Therefore we returned the following evening. That was just as good and efficient as the previous evening. The food on both occasions was really tasty and reasonably priced. The only thing I found that has made me knock off one star is the charge of $2 for Ice in my whiskey

Nice Atmosphere

By foxyflyer59 |

Had two dinners here, one was lunch and the other one was for a Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. Nice food and lovely atmosphere. The pub was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We were staying at the New Yorker Hotel so this was basically a few paces away so very convenient.

Overall Lovely place

By Sean O |

Went there one evening for dinner, food was absolutely delicious, pints were cold, staff very friendly, wasn’t too expensive compared to other places, would highly recommend

I LOVE THIS PLACE

By Ilario T |

I love this place. The food is great and you have so many choices, everyone is so friendly and professional. The person who served our flood, a blond girl, was so great and helpful. Great place

Great Spot

By Bondy |

We walked in off the street and were pleasantly surprised by this location. Great service, delicious food, and a good list of beverages. Great proximity to Madison Square Garden. Would recommend.

Great pub food

By No name |

My husband and I stopped here for dinner (on corner of 8th Ave & 35th St) before the Elton John concert at MSG (two short streets away). We hadn’t made reservations at a restaurant since we were not sure what time we would arrive. This restaurant was a half a block from The Even Hotel and it was pouring rain so we decided to give it a try. It is a two level style pub restaurant. The restaurant was crowded but we were able to get a table. Our waiter was excellent and all of the waitstaff seemed to work well as a team. They offer a nice selection of draft and bottled beers as well as cocktails and wine. We enjoyed our dinners. We had Bailey’s Irish coffees and cheesecake for dessert. The only thing I was disappointed in was the cheesecake. We would recommend this restaurant.

Not bad

By IKR66 |

A nice welcome and reasonable food in comfortable surroundings but, even by New York standards, it was a little over priced for what we got.

Quick and tasty

By Alirk97 |

We needed a quick lunch. This was the place. The atmosphere was perfect for a bar lunch. The server was nice and attentive. The food came out quickly but we did not feel rushed. It was well cooked and flavorful. It was a great stop in NYC.

Good Choice for Near MSG

By Bill H |

This was walking distance between our hotel and MSG so we tried it out. It's busy, in the evening, but we lucked into a couple of seats at the bar (usually get better service there anyway). They made sure we got a beer we liked (offered tastes). The menu is somewhat limited, but good options under category of "typical pub fare". Food was very good - better than we expected from a pub.

Boxing

By Jen W |

We visited this bar on Saturday and was welcomed by a women that was very friendly and nothing was to much trouble. Went out of her way to accommodate us and because of her my partner and son had a wicked night watching the Boxing and the food is banging!

Lunch

By Stay792587 |

Great pub, friendly staff, and Good Food. My hubby had the steak sandwich and I had the baked potato stuffed with broccoli, bacon and topped with cheese. Highly recommend

Food good, not service

By andypI3524EL |

Had a really good bar meal here, choice of food was excellent and plentiful, unfortunately the service was not so good!!

Good bar

By david1892 |

Didnt eat here but its a lively bar with plenty of drink choices.staff friendly.excellent location on 8th avenue.

Try the Truffle Fries

By ITravelAlot8 |

We enjoyed our meal here prior to a concert at MSG. The cheeseburgers were excellent but the lack of condiments was a little unusual. The truffle fries are worth the extra money. The signature cocktail “shoulder seam” was a disappointment. Atmosphere was nice but the service was extremely slow.

Permanently lost me as a local Patron!

By Michael B |

2 stars because the food was decent. 0 stars for rude and slow bartender (Sarah). Never going back over something so stupid and it’s Sarah’s fault. Went there on 12/2 for lunch between 12:45pm and check time was 1:32pm. Sarah was slow to serve and I ordered an Iced Tea (they serve the crappy kind out of the gun that isn’t freshly brewed). Lame! I ordered the turkey burger with no bun and a few modifications subbing out fries for greens. One of the toppings that came with it was Avocado (came as guacamole and I will get to that in a minute). The food came fast so service did pick up in speed. When the burger came, there was literally a teaspoon of guacamole on top. Not sufficient enough, I asked Sarah for more. She rolled her eyes and honored the request. She didn’t even look at what the kitchen had provided. The additional guacamole came out in a ramekin quickly and it was twice the portion I was given originally. I ate everything and it was fine. Sarah never asked me how my food was and never asked if I wanted more Iced Tea until I was done (the glass was empty for most of my meal). When she finally asked, I asked for a half glass. Thought it was free refills like 99% of pubs in NYC. I get the bill and she charged me an additional $1.50 on top of the normal $3.00 charge for a splash of Iced Tea. I was furious and didn’t get mad at her but did question it. She said “well, you got extra guacamole and I had to choose a lesser charge”. I was being penalized for the restaurant’s original mistake. I still tipped her $5 (over 20%) and took the high road. A copy of the credit card receipt is attached for the manager. To the manager, I’m never coming back and I live around the corner. I usually go to Houndstooth and they have real Iced Tea! Train your staff to be professional, smile and not be argumentative. I did nothing wrong and was treated like a jerk!

N.Y.C evening meal

By Don P |

We called in last week, not planned.Just looked at the Menu when we passed. My wife and I both chose the hot steak sandwiches.I think they were $18 each and very nice too, complete with fries. And of course Budweiser draught to accompany the meal ( plus a few more ) they were $6 each. The food didn’t take long to arrive, and was very tasty too.So much so we called in again on the next two evenings. The place is clean, the staff are friendly, the food and the beer went down nicely.I am just sorry we were in a conversation about Tattoos with one of the staff on Tuesday evening. We didn’t get his name but never saw him again. So if he sees this review, good luck with your Body Art. We are hoping to return to N.Y.C and we will call into this bar again.

Great store with very attentive service. I've been there twice. Once for dinner. I had a steak that was very good and very cheap by New York standards! Nicely decorated at Christmas time. Nice audience and as already mentioned very friendly service. Recommended!

Well worth the visit

We visited this great pub three times on our holiday in New York first class food drink and service. Would fully recommend a visit when in the city.

Great food, fun Irish music

By RonL40 |

Enjoyed the good drinks, the chicken pot pie and the lamb pie... delicious. And the live Irish music was a treat we weren't expecting. Nearby the Moynihan Train Hall... good place to stop and spend a couple hours if you are waiting for a train.

Worth a stop in

Visited twice during a recent trip. First for afternoon beer at bar. Bartender was great. Went back for dinner the next night. Great meal with great service.

Great pub!

Glad I found this fun place. Great food and service. I went twice and the bartender, Simon, remembered what I had ordered to drink the day before. Friendly welcoming place. I’ll be back when I return to NYC!

Cool Bar

Stumbled across this bar on a cold day and was pleased to see tables available. Service SUCKED, but the bartender was always willing to wrangle our waitress so we could order. They weren’t keen on letting us order from the bar for table service. We had a few waitresses, but the second one was far better. Good selection of ciders and bar bites. The truffle fries and edamame were great! I would go back. The bar has a good atmosphere and is low key.

Wouldn't call this a pub but it is a great bar, handy for us staying at The New Yorker Hotel it is only a short walk to here. Food was good, beer was ok but didn't enjoy the slice of orange in the Belgian beer!. We went here several times and enjoyed every visit

Typical NYC a Sport Bar but good friendly service

Visited here a few times for drinks when staying locally. The bar us nothing special with a typical NYC sports bar feel and multiple TVs showing baseball and American football. Decent range of beers but the thing which stood out was the friendly service from the barmen

Not worth It!

After a long day of exploring, we were ready for a satisfying, high-quality meal to wrap up our adventure. Strolling through the streets of New York, we happened upon Tailor Public House. Thankfully, they had a menu displayed outside, so we quickly skimmed through it, and everything seemed promising enough to step inside. Once inside, we noticed the place was packed—especially the pub area downstairs, where people were engrossed in the game and enjoying their drinks. The staff directed us upstairs, and here the atmosphere shifted: it was much quieter, nearly empty, offering a more relaxed dining experience. We settled in, received our drinks promptly, and reviewed the menu once more before ordering. I decided to go for the red velvet waffles and fried chicken, which sounded like an inventive take on a classic. Unfortunately, I quickly realized my mistake. The staff didn’t seem knowledgeable about the menu and couldn’t answer our questions clearly. They rarely checked on us, giving the impression that attentive service was low on their priority list. When the food arrived, my hopes sank. What I received was a half waffle, paired with a thin, unseasoned chicken patty that looked hastily cut in half. For the price, I expected much more in terms of both quality and portion. The waffle was flavorless, like it came from a box mix, and the chicken was so plain that it was difficult to take more than one bite. Despite the server walking past our table multiple times, they didn’t acknowledge the untouched food or offer any alternatives. In the end, when my friend finished their meal, I still had to pay for mine, which I didn’t eat. I’m not sure if the service issues were due to an off day or if this is standard here, but if it’s the latter, I won’t be back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a quality dining experience. The atmosphere was nice, with a lively pub vibe downstairs, but if you decide to visit, I’d suggest coming for the ambiance and maybe a drink or two—skip the food if it’s anything like what I experienced.
