So many delicious Tyger options, not enough space for it all!

By Top5Jamaica |

So many delicious options, not enough time or stomach space to have them all! Topping the list - Salt & Pepper Crispy Snapper Tempura followed by the Singaporean Chili Crab Fried Rice then next favourite would be the Steak & Eggs which I more recently tried off their brunch menu. Service is/was excellent too!

A MUST!

Service and food were exceptional! All in our party of 6 were impressed with each dish and cocktail we tried! Highly recommend! One of our top rated experiences during our time in town!

Way overated. Kitchen has a problem with big delays between dishes. Taste way less than average. Like king prawns unedible. Yellow tail average. Reviews got me there but not recommended

Extremely noisy restaurant. Impossible to have a normal conversation with the noise. Terrible service. Rudeness to a client considered normal. Never again

Chinatown surprise

By Chriskuo |

Although we are a senior couple, we were taken here by our nephew who lives in Chinatown. It was a comfortable, pleasant October evening, so we enjoyed the option of eating outside. The restaurant is trendy and popular with a younger crowd. Our nephew knows the chef and was very helpful in selecting small plates to share, taking into account my wife is a vegetarian. I particularly enjoyed the fish dishes. It is relatively quiet street off Canal Street.

East South Asia food

I just feel this place full of marketing plan, even in New York City that quality food can't match that prices, so far off, is it because their service are more expensive? So they need more tips?

Just fantsatic, both food and service

Tried Tyger out after enjoying Chinese Tuxedo, their sister restaurant. What a pleasant surprise. Supreme cocktails (try the "Tyger"), and impeccable service. The cuisine was unusual, spicy if you want it spicy, and tasted terrific. Spencer was our waiter and he psotted every time we sought assistance immediately. definitely rinse and repeat soon.

Fusion kitchen@ The tyger

NYC isn’t about fine dining but this was s absolute awesome experience It started with really nice service, great cocktails and some good advice about what to order. I like the fusion kitchen, fresh products and the share concept if you like. A recommendation if you don’t mind paying a bit more than some slices of pizza

Here rank amateurism and incompetence rule

By EANYC |

Do you like to be lied to? Then this is your place. My spouse and I picked it to celebrate my birthday yesterday and presumably the restaurant was aware of that as I was asked, at reservation time, whether this was a special occasion. I answered it was. The only special thing about it was asking for the check and walking out before finishing my meal, a first. Good things first: the restaurant asks for a credit card upon reserving a table and charges a penalty to no-shows and diners who cancel less than 6 hours before reservation time; it also sets a time limit for occupying the table. Both policies are fair both to the restaurant and the diners, especially after what restaurateurs suffered during the pandemic. We were also very happy with the warm welcome at the check-in point, which always sets the tone for the dinner. Asked how we heard about the restaurant, we replied we had recently dined at Tyger's ’sister-restaurant,’ close-by Chinese Tuxedo. We ordered cocktails and sparkling water and our waitperson explained that plates are meant to be shared and are served together; he suggested we order 4 plates for two people. And so we ordered a meat dish, a chicken dish, as well as a noodle dish and a vegetable dish to complement the meat and chicken. The cocktails were generously-sized and our San Pellegrino (as is is called in Europe) was appropriately cold. Our meat and chicken plates arrived and we waited a little for the other two dishes to arrive. We waited and we waited. We started eating so our food does not get cold. The accompanying dishes were always ‘on the way.’ We had already begun digesting the food, our drinks finished, our sparkling water finished. We told our waitperson that we did not really wish to have the remaining - never arrived - dishes for dessert and asked for the check. It is where amateurism was added to incompetence. We were asked if we wanted to talk to a manager and we said yes, but nobody arrived. There really was no effort to apologise, to make up for the incompetence, or even to offer an excuse for what ended up being a ruined birthday dinner. We had to move on elsewhere for some more food and dessert. It was as if this were the normal way of business in this restaurant.

Good but nothing more

Locally very dark inside, you need a flashlight to be able to read the map. There are only 2 anti-alcoholic drinks (one of them is diet)...food is ok but not anymore and the volume in the restaurant was bad you could not have a normal conversation. Very bad

Fun casual spot with amazing cocktails and delicious southeast Asian cuisine

Great for a casual lunch with friends. Cocktails were amazing, loved the Tyger Stripe and the Divine Image. Food was delicious. Oysters, a noodle dish and a few vegetables, everything was tasty. Loved the vibe. Will definitely go back.

We thoroughly enjoyed!

This Asian fusion restaurant offers an excellent family-style dining experience with delightful cocktails and a pleasant ambiance. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish we tried, especially the outstanding chili crab fried rice, which is an absolute must-try. While we felt the prices were on the higher side, we would still enthusiastically return for another visit.

Great cocktails and food

By Alan304 |

The cocktails are unique and delicious, blending flavors rarely found in cocktails. The frozen Tyger Strype cocktail is a perfect dessert. Our favorite dish was the Crispy Lamb Ribs. The Wok Tossed Heirloom String Beans exceeded our expectations. The room is airy but can be loud when crowded. The service became rushed when the restaurant tables were full.

Experience meets awesome food.

Wow. Just wow. What a sensational experience. We are visiting from Oz and were recommended this Asian fusion influenced restaurant. Without doubt the best Asian style food we've ever had and we've dined all around the world. If you eat in one place in NYC this has to be it!

FANTASTIC place!

By mkd_travelmania |

It is a great place with fun ambiance, fantastic delicious food, and a friendly, attentive staff. The cocktails are inventive and fun, some big, meant to be shared. I had the Lily which was elegant and yummy (vaguely similar to a spritz). My husband had two different Asian beers that were unexpected and refreshing (the waiter recommended). Appetizers: We loved the steak tartare, the corn, and the octopus salad. The crab fried rice is out of this world. Entrees: The branzino in banana leaf, and the crispy lamb ribs were delightful and very tasty, delicately executed. We had such a great time with my teenage kids. Loved the place. ❤️ Will def go back!

Interesting, varied cuisine and attentive service, extremely loud to the point of being an issue

The Tyger is an interesting dining choice that I think it called Asian Fusion or similar. Upon entry, one is held at the bar area until the table is ready (not too long for us) and is met by a wall of noise. This maybe due to the very busy night we were dining there but also the relatively low ceilings and plaster walls. More on this in a minute. There are some lovely dishes on the menu and it pays to order a selection as they arrive as they are ready which works for the most part. However, one of the selections we ordered was a rice dish that didn't come out until the very end which is a problem, since it would have gone well as an accompaniment to the other dishes. On its own, not so much. Also, I suggest you are not talked into too many dishes as we were. We had a ton left over and some of them are very substantial. However, they were all good. Very flavorsome and quite spicy in many instances. Everyone in our group found dishes they particularly liked, and this is the beauty of eating like this. It's like London buses in a way, if you don't like one, another will be along in a minute. There are meats, fishes, veggie dishes etc. so there is something for everyone. Our server was a delight and explained things to us very well and kept everything moving without us feeling rushed. However, back to the big drawback for me which seems churlish, I realize. It was, literally, too loud to hold a cross table conversation without leaning over one's food. If you wish to speak to the diner next to you, that will work, but if he or she is talking to anyone else and not looking directly at you, it's impossible. Unfortunately we were meeting an old friend and hoping to catch up and this was severely limited by the boisterous ambiance. I'm not a hater of loud restaurants per se, especially for this type of food but this was excessive. Bear this in mind if you are expecting any sort of intimacy and quiet conversation at busy times because it can't happen if our evening is any indicator. It is quite expensive for what it is but it's NYC and there is plenty of food and so the value isn't too bad I didn't think but we didn't order any alcohol which always bumps the price considerably. It's very good but I'm not sure I'd eat here again to be honest. It's not really my type of place.

Delicious from the cocktails to the meals to desert

I went here to catch up with an old friend and spent 3 hours having cocktails, small bites, and desserts. We savored each dish, as everything we had was delicious. Whether you're a dessert person or not, you gotta try to coconut sorbet. It comes in a coconut and is super decadent.

Flavorsome south Asian food, really enjoyed the vibe, but more importantly the food. Fried chicken was excellent. Came alone, sat at bar & had great service & a fabulous cocktail from Molly. Loved the Sun & moon cocktail with whiskey, peach & other spices/flavours. Recommend.
