We ate here while waiting for the Statue of Liberty ferry. The view, of New York harbor, includes the Statue, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and the shorelines of Brooklyn, Staten Island and New Jersey. Magnificent! And the food and service were outstanding too. A bit out of the way but if you're in the area highly recommended!

We came here for lunch. Requested a table outside and thw hostess sat us very quickly.1st impression was very good- as soon as we sat down very nice young lady brought us bread . A minute later the waiter came who did not say hello, introduce himself or anything. Just straight asked us what do we want to drink. We placed the order and he asked:"how about food". I said that we haven't even had a chance to look at menu yet and he turned around and left . About 5 min later he came back stood at table just looking at us . We placed our order and never saw him again until wr requested the check from the bus boy. The worst experience ever !! So rude waiter. The food was just OK . I had tomato soup and pizza . My sister had mussels . If the service was not that bad i would of probably recomended the place because of its location but now all i can say is please, spend your $ somewhere else !

First, I would like to say thank you so much to Kevin, Libia, Emma, Victoria and Elizabeth. You were all so amazing and I apologize for my late post. My husband and I tied the knot on October 3rd, 2024. This was our second choice and I am glad we went with it. Kevin was professional and listen to our needs. The location of The View was perfect. I have to say my husband fell in love with it first. The vintage look is what attracted him to it. The food was delicious. I have to say cocktail hour was the best. Our cake was delicious. The only downside is there is no parking but there are many parking garages near by. I suggest you do your research and make sure you ask the parking garages what time they close so it doesn't become a problem for your guest when its time to go home. I learned one closed early before the wedding date so I made sure my guests avoided that one . Our ceremony was done inside and located on the second floor. Our cocktail hour was on the first floor and it was a combination of inside and outside the venue. Our reception was back to the second floor. There is a bridal suite but make sure you ask if you can have your make up and hair done. I was told no but then they changed their mind which saved me money from renting a room at a hotel. I would say that is my only criticism. Overall, I am forever grateful the wedding went smoothly. I highly recommend this venue for any event you have in mind. All the staff were super friendly and that is a huge plus for me. One side note, this vendor has more than one location in case you want to see what they look like. Their prices were reasonable and they work with you. When you do book with them you will get a chance to sample their food as your wedding day approaches. Of course, you can visit their restaurant anytime to try their food.

The restaurant was in a great location and great view. But after we ordered the service ended from our waiter. No refills in water or coffee. He showed up to give us the bill though. Not sure what the problem was with us? The pizza I had was great. The Goat Cheese salad was overdosed in vinegar, but other than that was good.

This idyllic spot on the harbor front in Lower Manhattan is a hidden gem! The restaurant has a huge terrace on the water with full service, excellent food, seasonal selections, and a complete wine and beverage list. This place is great day and night, for business and social and special gatherings. The owner is a famous restauranteur and ultimate host. Great room upstairs for special events. Love love love this place.

I agree with previous reviews! The view of the Statue and New York Harbor is wonderful! But it's hard to enjoy with the rude guy in the fancy clothes who runs the outdoor seating and bar! One young man told us we may get a light lunch at the back of the building outdoor bar but could come back and eat it with the view. When we returned with our food, the old guy rudely told us to "get in back, you can not sit here!!" What is very interesting is that there is a large lovely outdoor seating area with NO ONE sitting in it at 12 o'clock noon. Is this the reason?? Unbelievable! There are many small stands to buy food and my recommendation is to buy food at one of them and sit on one of the benches on the walkway to enjoy the view. Food from the back bar was not great and service there was also bordering on rude or at any rate... apethetic!

We went there today July 31st around 3:00 -3:30 pm to have a drink at the external bar. The waiter was very impolite and rude, she kept speaking at her mobile while serving us, never looked at us and never smiled. We ordered 2 beers and 2 cokes for the kids. We asked to go to the restroom, that is inside the restaurant , and the lady at the reception desk told me to go at the public toiled outside the building. Only when I told her that I was a customer she showed where the toilet were. I will never recommend to go to this place.

The place was nicely decorated inside & out. The waiter was nice. It was all you would expect when eating along the waterfront in NYC. Had the Salmon with salad & the fish was very nice. They were pretty tolerant of my two children but I think if I ever went again, I wouldn't bring them. Good place to eat after a free ferry ride.

What could be better than a tremendous view from the shores of battery park to the Statue of Liberty? Any place other than this restaurant. From a hostess who had a straw in her mouth when I came in to food that was burnt. It was not worth fleeing your country for if this was the first meal off the boat. I would also say the bathroom was a train wreck and they front of the house could use some paint. Cheers!

After you've visited the Statute of Liberty on a nice day and you haven't had enough, you can dine at Battery Gardens and sit outside and continue to marvel over Lady Liberty. We did just that and I got the grilled chicken salad and it was ok--I'm not a fan of dark chicken meat but that was on the salad. I also found a big chicken bone in the chicken. You can tell the setting sells the restaurant because the inside is dated and needs some sprucing up but I doubt they need to do that because people continue to return because of the setting. Also, they charge you about 5 bucks for your soft drink, they bring it out in a glass that's as small as a shot glass, and there's not refill.

Entered the front door at 11:10 a.m. and was greeted by a tuxedoed man at a podium. He showed me a menu and I asked if the restaurant was open. Yes, he said, 10 to 10. So I went outside and summoned the rest of my somewhat weary party...early morning start and lots of walking. Once the others joined me, he motioned for us to select any table that we liked. We sat down and waited for a few minutes Then the rudeness started. Another guy appeared at our table and gruffly said "can I help you?" I could tell from his tone that he was hacked off about something but we didn't know what. I said "the gentleman at the door told us that we could order some drinks and appetizers." Dude then angrily tells us "the gentleman at the door doesn't know what he is talking about." Okay, I say. Dude continues "we don't open until 11:30." Then he stomped off. So we left. No "I am sorry for the misunderstanding." Will never go back as my children were very upset by this rude treatment. Should have been a nice stop for this trip. Could not have been treated worse.

My husband & I wanted to take our 2 small grandchildren to lunch on the water. We walked 45 min to get there. I tried calling 4 times to inquire about an outdoor table (one in the shade or with an umbrella). No one ever answered the phone! When we arrived, with a reservation, we were told there weren't any outdoor tables available. A large party was due to arrive in 30 min-- for most of the tables in the shade! We turned around and walked home, unable to NOW get a reservation anywhere! Answer your phone! How disrespectful to potential customers! One number listed even had a recording saying they were closed! No wonder they had availability when no one else did!

We popped in here for a drink and can only comment on the bar area as we didn't stay for food (although the food and dining area did look lovely). The lady behind the bar was the rudest person I've experienced in a long time! She didn't respond when we placed our order just looked at us then went off and got our drinks - the only time she spoke was to tell us the amount we owed and then it was just shouting the number at us nothing else! We watched her with others and she just had a really bad attitude towards anyone that came up to the bar - it could have been such a lovely place for a drink if it wasn't for her!

Firstly I had a nightmare trying to book this restaurant and sent numerous emails which were ignored. If this restaurant hadn't been recommended to me via my photographer I would have found somewhere else. When we turned up (in my wedding dress) the female receptionist looked vacant as if she knew nothing about us coming. As the restaurant was empty we were quickly shown to a table. The waiter that served us was brilliant and brought us a complimentary Bellini over to celebrate. Food was lovely. Disappointed by communication but waiter and food was nice.

A convenient place to have lunch after exploring battery park. The inside looks pretty , service was friendly and nice . I ordered the prix fixe lunch ; carrot soup , salmon and dessert .I actually like the carrot soup , tasted very good with coconut flakes , something different . The salmon just tasted ok but the tuna tartar tasted better than expected . The brownie with ice cream is average . Overall , an enjoyable experience !!! ✨

Years ago, I had gone here for a business lunch and thought to myself it would be beautiful for a wedding. There were white gauzy curtains and amazing water views. Fast forward, I was invited to a weddingnad I was right. Sadly, some rain disturbed the plans for an outdoor ceremony. But the indoor ceremony was lovely--white flowers so as not to compete unduly with the view and the curtains. The the weather held and the cokctail hour could be held outdoors---bars indoors and outdoors. Then dinner back inside upstairs--again some candles and you have the view. It was the warmest day of the year so there could have been more air conditioning. And the music is loud for middle-aged ears. But, unusual for a wedding, the food was terrific. So was the wine- a sauvignon blanc. We started with a pasta-mushroom fettucine- perfect. Maybe the best pasta ever. Followed by arugula with goat cheese-salad. Then I selected chcicken with lemon sauce--and it was the best chicken I'd ever had. Ladies room upstairs a little small-downstiars lavish. And a blacony upstairs to watch the ferries.

Earlier this month a group of friends and I decided to try Battery Gardens. Quite frankly I hadn't heard of it, but was willing to give it a try. It is hard to find. So, I'll tell you the best way to get there. Head to the Battery, walk towards the Hudson River, and as you are looking at the River in front of you, walk to the left, past the ferries for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Then you will see the restaurant on the left. Once there, you will be delighted. The interior is beautiful (actually great for a wedding) and they also have a lovely outdoor dining area. While somewhat expensive, they have a wonderful $65.00 price fixed dinner. The food was delicious and the setting sublime. After dinner you can take a leisurely stroll on the esplanade and enjoy the views of downtown NY and the Hudson River.

This is not a good restaurant. We have been seated in the waterfront. The view is amazing but the table and chairs are rusty. Staff is not knowledgeable about the job that they have to do. Constantly spill out water, a glass of wine was not put on table from right but given to my hand, after apetizer the used knife was put back on table instead of take it away and bring a new one. Dress code is business casual however majority of guest has shorts and flip-flops. Definitely not a restaurant that I suggest to anyone. Such a bad experience. Food is ordinary, nothing special.

We had a late business holiday party here on the coldest night of the year. The warmth of the staff, the venue, the drinks, the food and the dancing made it feel so much warmer... there was even a fire at one end of the upstairs dining room. Michele, the event planner, is amazing --so helpful, thoughtful and welcoming. This was a second event we held in location and can't wait for #3. But first I am going back in the summer to enjoy the view and ambiance with warm sunshine.

This was my best restaurant experience in New York so far. We were tired from our Ellis Island visit and this was the first restaurant we came accross. We had a 3 meal menu, everything was delicious and fresh and that entire menu was around 35$. The staff was very professional and friendly. Excellent palce!

A shady area on hot June days, with a fair view of the Statue of Liberty. Benches for resting and play pools to cool down in. Restaurant near by (untried).

My friend and I stumbled upon this little gem as we explored Battery Park. The view was amazing, and the food was delicious. My only complaint was our server. He was very pretentious and seemed a little irritated that we ordered light appetizers instead of the more expensive items on the menu. Other than that, our experience was perfect! I will definitely eat there again...hoping to take my husband on the next trip.... enough variety on the menu for even a picky eater like him!

Outdoor wedding at the tip of Manhattan. Spectacular views. Very attentive staff. They wiped down each seat shortly before the wedding started. Cocktail hour indoors, featured many staff offering food on little trays, small tables to sit and talk and see the views - there were indoor and outdoor areas to visit. The dinner was upstairs, indoors, with outdoor areas as well. Those with disabilities could go in a staff operated, 1-guest occupancy lift. While awkward, it worked. The food was delicious! The staff came to each table in groups, bringing all of the dishes nearly at the same time.

One of the best places in the city to soak in the sun and the beautiful view of the statue of liberty and Hudson. Excellent food, even better service! Amazing spot to enjoy nyc in its full shine and glory.

I had my wedding here in February 2015 and everything was absolutely beautiful. Michele (Event Coordinator) and her team are the absolute BEST. I cannot emphasize how good they are - the service is impeccable, they are absolutely on top of everything, yet still flexible and accommodating to specialized requests. From the early appointments, to the tasting, onsite visits before the wedding and then the big day... they were so professional and spot-on! The food was delicious, the view amazing and I received SO many compliments on the entire evening. Finally, you really cannot beat the price for everything they offer (food, open bar, venue / space, service, rentals, linens)... it's all included. You do not sacrifice price for quality in any way. The location is right on the water with a perfect view of the Statue of Liberty. I cannot recommend highly enough!!

This is a great way to see Manhattan from the water side and get some lovely views. You are not surrounded by people audit is a peaceful way to escape the crowds.

This spot provides you with a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. You forget you are in the busy NY for a while.

Questionable service all around. Hostess was okay,"follow that guy"- the waiter. Waiter gave uninterested, vague, convenient answers to our questions. The other service was actually not bad. Duck was a little chewy, tuna tar tar was good, muscles were good, sangria did the job, but would not recommend. Not great dinning for the price.

Recently had the wonderful experience of attending a wedding at this location. It was truly an amazing event. This venue is absolutely gorgeous with the beautiful view. Atmosphere was amazing. The food is outstanding from start to finish. The bar was fantastic with everything one could possibly want. I would say to anyone lucky enough to have an event there-you have come to the right place for your special day!

There is not much choice in the area for a restaurant. We stopped and were not disappointed in the food or ambiance as the breeze coming off the water was lovely. The waiter was curt and not accommodating but we tried to ignore the service and not let it spoil the experience. I would not make a special trip to dine here . They have a monopoly on this type of restaurant in the area. As everyone has said...the view is lovely

My friend and I were actually laughing after we went here it was soooooo bad. My burger was not even warm and came on a crusty bun while my friends salad came on a plate that was actually hot, like right out of the dishwasher hot. At least it was clean. We mentioned this to our server who had already messed up our drink order, but she did not really seem to care. She was more interested in chatting with the bartender or planning her high school curriculum for next year. The person who I assumed was the manager kept looking over at us, but seemed too nervous to come over. It was a beautiful day out (80 degrees with nice breeze) at 1pm and the place should have been packed but it was nearly empty. I guess the word had been out about how horrible this place is and I had not heard. If you want a great view and better food and service go to one of the many food stands and sit on a bench.

We were at this resturant for a fund raiser. The appys were very good and plentiful they had a selection of very nice white and red wines to select from. the views from the second floor were magnificent, a most glorious sunset with the statue of Liberty in view!!

We arrived at the restaurant about noon on Halloween. The day was sunny and very warm for that time of year. All the guests were seated inside . Our goal was to eat outside on the terrace to enjoy the view and the last of the summer. Our request was initially met with some reservation but soon enough Paula checked with Tarek, her manager and she was able to seat us in the glorious sunshine. We had a great view of the Statue of Liberty and activity on the water. Three pizzas ( margarita (sp), buffalo chicken with blue cheese, prosciutto and fig) were delicious and more than enough for four. Martinis were mixed as requested making it a lovely and memorable lunch. One of the highlights of our NYC visit. Thank You.

If going to the Statue of Liberty you will walk through Battery Gardens. A pleasant shady area along the river side and close to the financial district.

Stopped here for dinner after our cruise on the Staten Island Ferry. A private party was inside so there was only outside seating which was fine. The service was a little slow. We had the branzino which was over cooked and dry plated with an unusual grouping of Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes and topped with arugula. Both vegetables were marginal in taste. The carrot soup was presented well but was lacking on flavor. The highlight of the meal was the burrata which claimed to be made with heirloom tomatoes which I doubt. Go for the view and drinks not the food.

This restaurant is waaaaaay over priced -thank goodness my $18 cocktail was strong and delicious but really $15 + $3 tip for one drink - the "Harbor View Bar" is right past the Staten Island Ferry terminal and you can see and HEAR the boats coming and going - nice view of the statue of liberty - i can not recommend this spot even though the Bartender as a hoot and made a great drink (and I want to be clear fine dining pricing not sure I would rate this fine dining)

When friends were visiting from Europe, after an exhausting day, including a trip to the Statue of Liberty, we crashed at this outdoor dining spot on the edge of Battery Park. It was a lovely summer night and we were seduced by the sight of diners on the terrace, overlooking a setting sun. That was the good part. The food was mediocre, the prices high, and the waiters seemed to be sleep-walking. I suspect the other diners, like us, were one-visit-only.

The location of this place says it all. The garden with a view of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island is the "must" place to sit on a warm-ish day. We skipped a trip to the islands because of the crowds and settled in for a relaxing lunch. The food was good - a creative ancient grains salad was delicious. The menu is varied enough to appeal to almost anyone. Prices are a bit high, but one is paying for the view.

The park was being dug up when we went there so not much going on, although my friend had visited previously and said it was brilliant.

Tucked away behind the Staten Island Ferry and the public park is a haven for drinks, dinner or parties. The outside deck faces the Statue of Liberty and the restaurant inside is beautiful. First found it when invited to a shower then have returned just for drinks and for dinner several times. Never disappointed with anything ordered.

Excellent service, location and food. The chilean seabass was incredible and the overall service and attention second to none.

We visited here by accident after going on the Statue Cruise. But what a find! Yes, it is a little pricey, but well worth it. The surroundings are lovely, very light and clean, with indoor and outdoor seating. We felt very welcomed, despite looking a hot and sweaty state(!), and were taken to our seats. We were given iced water and bread. The service was quick and very polite, and we really enjoyed eating there. A fixed menu was available, but we went for individual dishes. Just be aware that the spaghetti bolognese, though tasty, does not taste like spaghetti bolognese in the UK. I had duck prosciutto salad, and have attached a photo. They do have a fixed price menu at lunch time you can choose from to keep the prices down.

My boyfriend and I had a 3pm trip on the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and arrived early. We wandered about the park for a while, decided lunch was needed and the Battery Gardens appeared to be the only place with proper food available. We first looked at the menu, concluded it was a bit pricey but it looked like a nice place with good views to eat and so decided to give it a go. Once inside we were seated with minimal chat or niceties. The first waiter came and took our drink order which was then bought over by a lovely young lady, however the problem came when we ordered our food. We both chose a pizza and so the wait began... 20 minutes later the pizza was delivered by an unbelievably rude waiter. He didn't acknowledge us other than to tell my boyfriend to pull down his shirt (a tiny sliver of the top band of his underwear was showing) and then he walked off...and straight over to a gaggle of the wait staff by the bar who all turned to look at us! We spent the rest of the mediocre meal feeling incredibly uncomfortable and furious. When the time came to pay the bill, which was unceremoniously dumped on the table, they'd automatically added a 20% tip! Absolutely atrocious experience. Rude, unfriendly and over-priced.

Wow a $5 craft beer and a $4 grilled hotdog in a beautiful garden setting with comfortable chairs and friendly help. I think I found heave in Battery Park. There is a great beer selection, tap, bottle and pitchers also a decent grill menu and pretzels. I love this place.

after a trip to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island our granddaughter decided it was time for a snack. We had stopped in on a previous visit and enjoyed the fare so it was quite convenient to stop on our way to the ferry landing subway station and pick-up a sandwich. The garden is open air with umbrella tables. The food is good and reasonability priced. It is not fine dinner, more like pub grub. Sandwiches, beer and wine and soft drinks are available.

On a day when we were to sail around the island, we decided to grab lunch here. Mistake. The food is pretty good but ridiculously priced, even for NYC. There was one waiter trying to serve both the inside and outside patrons. We rarely saw him and had to spend too much time asking for basic needs - like refills on drinks. It took 20 min to get the check and I had to finally take it back to the host for processing - after another 10 min. And for this you are automatically charged 20% gratuity? I think not.

Stopped here for lunch after riding the Staten Island ferry. It is a lovely restaurant you would not expect to see in a park - white table clothes, china, waiters in dress suits. It was epecially nice since it was away from the business and noise of the park and had outdoor seating to view the water. The menu was pretty high end and relatively expensive for a restaurant in a park...but it beat eating from a hot dog stand. We had a simple light lunch of gazpacho which was the best gazpacho I have ever had. However, we had to ask a couple times for bread and then again several times for the check when we were done. The restaurant was well-staffed but most seemed to be just wandering around talking to each other. It was extremely difficult to get anyone's attention. Most were gathered around watching as someone tried to tie down an awning...no one was paying attention to the patrons. In summary: the food we had was very good, the view lovely and a pleasant escape, the service horrible. There were so few people there even on a lovely summer day at lunchtime that I wonder how this restaurant makes it. Perhaps others knew more than we novice visitors.

Behind the public park and next to the Staten Island Ferry terminal is a spectacular place for dinner or just to have drinks outside and watch the sun set and view the statue of liberty. We shared a bottle of red wine and ordered appitizers and spent hours relaxing.

We hosted a wedding party for our daughter here. The service was seamless. The view was spectacular. The food was great.

if you have been in New York for a few days you will realise that any restaurant that serves reasonable lay nice food is pricey. Here you can get lovely food, awesome views especially at sunset and at a fair price. I would definitely go again.

Amazing venue. Came here on in December for a company holiday party. The place itself is really very pretty with great views, sadly it was too cold to do anything outdoors. There were two floors, the main walk in floor and the 2nd floor with the dance floor and balcony. My group and I sat at a table that was inside the tented extension - it was poorly set up and allowed cold air to come through so every once in a while I had to slice the makeshift door back on the hinge to block the wind. Service - You could tell that some of the people really didn't want to be there. The woman behind of the stations gave me an attitude and looked offended when I asked her for food lol The bus boys came by pretty frequently to clear the tables and one of them accidentally spilled coffee all over one of our Christmas cards - didn't apologize, didn't try to clean it, just walked away like nothing happened. The food was good but not amazing, it's what I would expect from a $25 buffet. - Seafood Paella - Beef - Pasta - Salad - Potato - Charcuterie - Desert: Cookies, Brownies, Tea, Coffee

My Husband and I just got married at Battery Gardens Last Sunday October 19th and besides it being beautiful and everyone raving about how amazing the food is....it could not have gone smoother and without one mistake thanks to one coordinator MICHELE CAVALLERO. Listen, I was an event coordinator at a luxury boutique hotel in Soho so i know first hand how annoying clients can get, including myself. but this beautiful, sweet, professional gem of a woman took care of us for about a year with all the planning as if this were her own wedding. Never skipping a beat, always thinking ahead, coordinating everything the day of, always with a smile in her voice, changing menus left and right like we were the only clients in the world. We had food GALORE!! and a premium open bar for cheap! Im talking from baby lamb chops to fresh pappardelle with mushrooms and truffle to sliders and salmon and salads and desserts and wine and spirits (top shelf)...it was like we were in heaven! IF YOU WANT THE WEDDING OF YOUR DREAMS FOR THE BEST PRICE ( Literally it was a steal...i don't no how they offer it for that cheap) AND THE MOST AMAZING TEAM IN NYC....CALL OR EMAIL BATTERY GARDENS AND ASK FOR MICHELE CAVALLERO! -David and Robert wedding date 10/19/2014

I expected this to be a tourist trap but was pleasantly surprised. The food was good, the view over the Hudson is beautiful, and the service was attentive. It's a little overpriced for what you get, but if you're in the area for the 9/11 Memorial or to see the Statute of Liberty, this is a really solid spot to grab lunch.

We arrived to find there was a wedding going on, so we were sent to the outside seating. The view was gorgeous, including the Statue of Liberty, but it looked like rain any minute. Fortunately, it held off til we were finished. Salads and salmon were excellent, but the tomato soup was very spicy. The pana cotta dessert was delicious. In spite of the on-going wedding/reception, service was quite good.

After my family traveled to Ellis Island, we decided to eat at this restaurant since it was right on the Hudson River. Beautiful scenery!! However, the food and experience was horrible. We only ordered water for our drinks & mine had a fly in it and bread crumbs. Waiting to get a refill for water, he never came back until we ordered our food which was 10-15 minutes later. After some more long waiting, our food finally arrived and it is not worth the price. The pizza was $15 with only a few small slices. The service was so slow and unfriendly. We barely heard any of the staff talk when we'd ask them questions about the dishes. We asked how big the pizza might be or whats in the soup and the waiter just made a hand gesture and left. Stay away.

If you are planning on sailing the Clipper City vessel for water views of New York on the Hudson this restaurant is located right on the board walk next to where the boat docks! A great location for watching sunsets and viewing Lady Liberty! The food is pricey for dining outside on wired mesh patio furniture but if you go with the fixed price 3-course menu you can dine for $35 a person. Outside dining is best if on the upper of the two levels. The lower level can have obstructed views from the shrubbery along the outside wall. The food is very good and service was very attentive too!

Beautiful view and this catch people but the staff seems to ignore you, specially if they identify that you are a "gringo". Food is barely ok and over priced.

We sat on the restaurant's deck after touring the Statue of Liberty and, what a pleasant surprise, one of the best dishes I ate in NYC. The view from the place is beautiful, the service attentive. For starters we ate a Crab Cake, super delicious. The wife went for the burger, which was super well done, and I went for the seafood pasta (simply delicious). To accompany a few glasses of Chablis. Moderate but fair price.

We stopped here for lunch and to relax and talk over a few beers after we toured the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. While the food menu is limited the experience was great!

This is a fairly typical NYC restaurant. What makes it stand out is the view, both inside and outside. Food and service are good, not great.

Attended a wedding at the Battery Gardens. Multiple levels. Great views of the river. Spectacular sun set today. Food of course was picked by the bride and groom was delicious. Very helpful and courteous wait staff.

By far my least favourite eatery on our holiday. The views are nice, that and the constant water supply was good. However the greeter and servers had faces like if it was a tragedy we'd turned up. The food (we had the set menu), was slightly below average. Soup was fine, steak was a lot of gristle and not particularly tasty, the potatoes unfinished they were so dull. The trifle was ok. Friends pizza was decent. The attitude was the worst though. By the end, it was assumed we were done and bill brought without asking. We opted to wait, and twice they came by to try to take it. And ofc, this was the only place to add the 20% service charge themselves (would've left less otherwise, it was that bad an experience). Thorough shame for what could have been a good restaurant.

Slow service but great view. Our pizzas were certainly thin and crispy! Very expensive, service charge of 20% added to the bill compulsory. Poor value, poor food, don't bother is my advise.

Attended a function at Battery Park Gardens last evening and it was just a great experience. Wonderful staff, very accommodating , nicely decorated. open bar, great menu, Very pleasant evening with friends and family. Only issue was that there is no parking on property. had to look for street parking but there were a few garages in the area,

As part of my job, I find venues to host my Agencies Summer and Holiday parties! Battery Gardens has been an amazing venue to work with. There are about 900-1000 employees and partners in NYC. Sometimes we have multiple smaller events and sometimes we do a larger and a few small events. Over the past 7 years we have hosted multiple events there. They have all been consistently great! Alex( Director of Catering) Paul (owner)and Eddie along with the rest of the staff make us feel really welcome and treated us extremely well!!! Would highly recommend having an event there.

My mum and i have just been into this establishment to see if we could get coffee and a light lunch. We have been appauled at the attitude of the two members of staff who greeted us ( or didnt as the case may be!!) - my mum asked if they were serving coffee , to which the waiter dismissively and rather rudely said "no coffee", and went on to direct us to the outdoor coffee stand in the park . We tried to ask what they offered over lunch time then, to which he threw up his hand incredibly rudely and told us to look at the menu!!!!! He turned on his heel and walked away from us! Anothemember of staff witnessed this, but she just looked away and pretended she had not seen!needless to say that

The food was good for most of the group. The service was slow. It was not busy at all when we arrived at lunch time. Soon after it became more and more crowded. We spent over 2 hours at the restaraunt. One meal was forgotten. We did request separate checks for 8 of us..so some of that confusion may have been from that. Many people do not have 2 plus hours to wait in a restaraunt.

Delicious meal, attentive service, heart-stopping views! If you're a New Yorker, it's a great place to take out-of-town guests on a clear summer evening. It will be a memorable night for all of you. If you're not a New Yorker, it's worth the trip to the Battery to eat at this restaurant and walk around the area.

I stopped here for a late leisurely lunch after a visit to Ellis Island. The staff was very professional, the food was quite good and the atmosphere elegant

Went for a little bite and had been previously. Pizza was great and so was the view. Walked in to staff swearing and upset. Busboys were very nice but waiter couldn't be bothered, he was a nasty piece of work. Never heard the F word used so liberally. Never check in on us, when we asked for another soda he was noticeably put off, had to chase our check down and couldn't wait to leave. Never have I ever left below 20 percent tip but did here. Left 10 percent and heard the staffs thoughts when they ran and checked it after we left. The 10 percent was for the bus staff.

We went for our daughters birthday lunch on Halloween. Decided to sit inside. Tarek was a great host through out our meal, which was excellent. We shared a pizza to start followed by our mains, with a bottle of bubbley. Special brithday desert was also given to our daughter. Great location and view of the Liberty Island, making a special day go so well.

We were there for lunch because we were starving and we couldn't see any other restaurant nearby. + The view was great. You can see the statue of liberty. - we ordered the filet medium rare. The meat of my boyfriend was good but mine was burned (not acceptable for us because they charge 40 $). I wanted to tell the waiters and made eyecontact. But no one came (i think they saw in our faces that something wasn't as expected). After we told the waiter directly, he brought us a new one without any discussion. + the new filet we got was good. - But my boyfriends food was of course already cold.. My boyfriend and i are willing to pay more for a good dining experience, but i was pretty disappointed because the meals are expensive. Don't know if i would go there again, even though the meat was good the second try.

We wanted to take a drink and thought Battery Gardens was on the right spot but looked more of a white linen restaurant (which it is). But we were talked into it by the waiter and had a good drink, nice view in a calm atmosphere.

We stopped for drinks before going on a sailing trip around the statue. The woman behind the bar was the rudest person I’ve come across in New York. Talking on her phone, dismissive, snapping ‘it’s not a refill’ when we had the audacity to ask for another drink. Honestly, there are no words. Avoid at all costs.

I made a reservation at this restaurant on a Saturday night for my boyfriend's birthday. That afternoon I got a phone message from the restaurant saying they did not have a table for us because they were having a private party inside and it was going to rain so they couldn't seat us outside. This was a few hours before the dinner on a Saturday night. This is completely unacceptable. If a restaurant makes a reservation, I expect them to honor it. Don't count on this place for a special occasion and there are too many good restaurants in NYC, with views, to waste time at this one.

We had a wonderful time. We met the head chef as we were walking into the park. He showed us to our seats outside since a wedding was going on inside. We had the best Tomato Basil soup we ever had and our Pizza was beautiful. Not only did it taste good, it was decorated with edible pansies. The best part of the meal was looking out on to the East Hudson River and feeding all the friendly birds and a squirrel. The atmosphere was enchanting. Can't wait to do it again!!!

I have visited NYC continuously for the past 26 years after having lived there from '74 to '90. It was a new neighborhood that I have not visited since my last ride on the Ferry to Staten Island in the '80s. Sitting outdoor on the patio at the Battery Gardens and looking at the Hudson River with the boats sailing by while sipping a glass of Chardonnay accompanied by delicious piece of steak was heaven. One may opt for a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon but I prefer white especially when it's hot. I was glad my dear friend invited me there because I would still be missing this restaurant and the neighborhood.

This restaurant is right in battery park as you enter by the Staten island Ferry. Eat outside of the weather permits and you will have beautiful views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Food is good a bit over priced but that is to be expected.

Traveling from Philadelphia to NYC for an anniversary. Reservation made a month ago, restaurant called the night before to cancel due to wedding party. Asked for a manager and talked to Matt. He said he would try to find a way to honor our reservation by seating us outside near the bar. He greeted us and gave us special attention including a complimentary cocktail and desert. The restaurant is at the tip of Battery Park, a little isolated. Great view of NY harbor, Lady Liberty and a fantastic sunset. Food was very good, a little pricey. Scallops were some of the best ever, dover sole a tad dry. Since we were the only diners, other than a nice wedding party, we had great service. Overall nice location, facility could use a little TLC.

I brought my mother and family here for Mother's Day this year, and I'm so glad I did! We had a table inside the restaurant overlooking all of the NY Harbor and Statue of Liberty, and the view was beautiful! The prix fixe menu had a few great options and perfect variety. The appetizers were delicious - my mother had pea soup with creme fraiche while the rest of us enjoyed a modest bolognese dish. The entrees followed right on time, and were equally delicious! My sister raved about her crab dish, and I thoroughly enjoyed my Sirloin Steak, cooked to perfection. The desserts were cute and decadent as well. The service was attentive but not in your face, and the ambiance was great as well - not too noisy. All in all, it made for a perfect start to Mother's Day in the city, and we couldn't have asked for a better time! Next time the family visits from CT, I think I know where we'll be having lunch :)

The outdoor patio / beer garden area is a phenomenal place to sit, have a beer, and enjoy the views of the harbor. Yes, it's expensive...but the views........

This is also a really nice place to go for a walk and enjoy the gardens, views of all the boats, ships, Staten Island Ferry. Pier A Harbor House serves excellent seafood. Again another break from the hustle & bustle of the city.

Yes, it is a great view from this outdoor bar/patio. The beer was cold. Unfortunately, so was the bartender. Guy could make better tips if he had a hint of a personality. Oh well, nice sunny day for a beer with a view.

We recently went to an event here and it has a terrific view of the Statue of Liberty and the rest of the river scene.

This place was pricey, which is to be expected given that it's a lovely patio with a view of the Statue of Liberty. But unlike some touristy places this one was worth it. Innovative and delicious food. Carrot coconut soup, and a delicious Salmon perfectly cooked. The price was well worth it. Good service, lovely place.

I ate here on 8/01/14 and ordered salmon. They brought me a small roll, then I waied quite a while for my meal. When they brought it out it was only a piece of salmon, no starch or vegitable. When I asked the waitress if anything else came with this she said you ordered salmon. I paid $ 28.00 for this. You got to be kidding me. ( THIS IS HIGHWAY ROBBERY )

Stopped by for a drink and had a great day with a sun, clear sky and not too much people so it was very nice. It's not cheap but we didn't expect that either so we were satisfied with everything we got.

We recently attended a wedding reception here. It was wonderful! The bride and groom rented the entire space. Unfortunately, it rained during the entire evening, although the view of the harbor, the Stature of Liberty, and Ellis Island was still great. The gardens and upstairs balcony were lovely. Cocktail hour and hors d'oeuvres were served downstairs and the main reception was held upstairs. It was fabulous! The food was great and the staff were very pleasant. Our only complaint was that taxis and Uber drivers had a difficult time finding the place, so be sure to check with transportation to be sure they understand where to go. If possible, book a return trip early as taxis are very hard to find late in the evening. If you're fortunate enough to attend an event at Battery Gardens, we think you'll be very pleased with this lovely, romantic setting.

We always have our annual Pan Am World WIngs reunion here and this year was no exception. The food was quite good - it's hard to do food for 300 people well, but they always do a very nice job. The setting is great - overlooking the water, outside seating with a bar and right next to Battery Park Gardens and the boats to the Statue of Liberty.

A good spot friendly staff. Food.reasonably priced. The only place visited in USA where they actually cooked the French beans!

This is a great place to go on a date or with your kids/family, the view of southern Manhattan is beautiful, the ambiance feels like old school Long Island though

My friends and I spent the evening eating delicious apetizers and drinking good red wine, while we relaxed in the garden watching the boats go by with Lady Liberty in the background. The owner, Paul, is a great host who makes you feel right at home!

A cute little find in battery gardens is the beer garden! A pitcher of beer for $16 is uber welcome on a hot July day. Cool tunes, cool people, cool place

If you want to relax, have a great view and good food, this is the place to go. We sat outside looking at the Statue of Liberty and other great sites!. The food was delicious. This is a must if you come to NY.

Very poor and discriminatory management practices. Manager Alex would not follow up on a promised reservation for my client, whose family was honoring their deceased father this past Memorial Day. He was very difficult to contact and always had an excuse as to why he delayed returning calls. Of course, he could not say "you people are not welcomed here" but his message was very clear. What took my client 3 days to never get done at this restaurant was accomplished within an hour at Miramar Mediterranean Seafood restaurant ($1,700 tab and $500 tip) I guess maintaining his preferred clientele is worth more than money.

We were celebrating a wedding. This is a wonderful venue for a wedding: what else do you wish for if a backdrop for the event the Freedom Tower , Statue of Liberty, the bay and a gorgeous sunset.Michelle who helps to organize all and every steps of the ceremony and the feast, deserves high praise, she is efficient and very friendly. It doesn't hurt that food is of good quality as well. Also, when we came for the tasting and tried many different appetizers, entrees and deserts, we found everything to be tasty.

My friend and I stopped here for a bite while playing tourist in Battery Park. We really didn't expect much, as the area is one big tourist trap (although surrounded by beautiful gardens). So we were pleasantly surprised by a pretty decent margherita pizza and a delightful warm tomato salad with roasted garlic and pecorino cheese. Service was pretty good (it was late afternoon so the lunch rush was over) and the view of the harbor is as good as it gets.

Having lunch overlooking the Statue of Liberty was awesome. Service good, food delicious, the duck foie gras with pickled blueberries was amazing. Would highly recommend, also a walk round Battery Park, there was so much going on and all free.

The best thing about this restaurant was undoubtably the view which included the Statue of Liberty. The service was attentive enough and the food was okay. I'm not one to rave about fruit in a salad or flowers (albeit edible ones) on a pizza though.

Recently attended a wedding there and I have to say it was the best wedding I've ever been to. The sun was setting in the background during the ceremony; the food was amazing and plentiful and the views from where the cocktail hour and the reception area were just breathtaking.

We were out of town wedding guests for a reception at this venue and loved it. The building has two levels each with its own bar and washrooms and fantastic views of the confluence of the Hudson and East Rivers. It was an evening event and the outside courtyard was lit up and looked spectacular. An added touch was being able to see the iconic Statue of Liberty and watch the Staten Island ferry coming and going also lit up at night too. We thought the appetizers and food were superb, the steak was so tender you could eat it without teeth. Earlier we had tea at the Ritz Carlton nearby and walked through Battery Park at dusk and then followed a sidewalk that ran along the Hudson directly to Battery Gardens - it was a delightful walk in the cool climes of the evening amid the glittering lights reflecting off the water. The service at Battery Gardens was par excellence. Lots of room for guests to mingle, eat and dance into the evening. A great place to host a wedding reception. Well done Battery Gardens.

We had a wonderful lunch here on a beautiful fall day in NYC. Our server was very nice and very helpful. I had the pizza which was very good and I was able to share it. Some people had salads which were tasty. The restaurant is very open to views of the harbor and the Statue of Liberty and the excursion boats going by. In nicer weather there is outdoor seating with a bar. There are two levels to this restaurant with perfect vistas all around. A nice place to stop to eat while exploring the Battery Park area.

Very nice place with view on New York South Bay. If weather permit you can have lunch outside. Good food. Staff is very polite and pleasant. Sometime service too long. But overall a place to go if you visit New York

Extremely impressed! Attended wedding reception here and everything was top notch! Service, food, view, bar, staff were amazing! The wedding reception was beautiful!

Great view. haute cuisine,no; more like, ooh cuisine. Opt for a Sabretts frankfurter cart There's a 100 character min. for review,so: :

This very up market restaurant is just the place to sit and watch the river traffic go by and see the Statue of Liberty when the sun go's down.

We ate there on a holiday weekend. We had a late lunch. It wasn't crowded and we were able to get an table on the terrace overlooking the Statue of Liberty with no wait. The hamburgers were enormous. The Lobster Ravioli had big chunks of lobster meat and claws. The creme brulee was delicious. It was a nice relaxing lunch and I would definitely do it again.

Stopped here with a coworker to grab a beer after work since it was so nice out. We were in the city for business so we stopped here for some sights and beers. Beers weren't terribly prices and bartenders were good. Nothing spectacular and can get pretty touristy but a solid option for an outdoor drink on the water.

Terrible! The worst experience to e rwstaurant in my life. No body cares, the food is bad, the servise worst, it looks like they try to do the worst thing. In the end the take your card in the the private place, and block three of them. If you talk to manager or servent they yell and scream. Oh my god, i will never forget.

These is a excellent call for a lunch or dinner in NYC. Very good food and special service with a salty price but worth wide.

This venue has water views from Battery Park which at night are very nice. Interior is nicely set out and when we were there it wasn't busy. My clam & shrimp pizza was excellent as were our other meals. However when you apply 20% gratuity without our agreement, then also taxed, you make the foolish assumption your service was pretty much perfect and it wasn't. Would not return for this reason. A pricey mistake on our part.

It was a hot day and we wanted to stop for a drink and this was the first place we stumbled on. As it had an outside terrace with a view of the Statue of Liberty we stopped in. The front of house was very pleasant and we took ourselves outside. There was only one table occupied inside and one outside and there was no ambience at all. With three staff members at the outside bar (and us standing less than a metre away) I’m not sure why it took quite so long to get served. The bar are was absolutely swarming with flies and so was the outside dining area. It just about passed muster for a refreshment stop but I would not consider eating there. I had read on earlier reviews that the toilets were horrendous but I have to disagree, they were actually nice.

We enjoyed lunch at Battery Gardens, which is located in Battery Park at the southernmost part of Manhattan in the Financial District. They have indoor and outdoor patio seating and the view of the water and Statue of Liberty is fantastic. This is definitely an upscale restaurant, although when we showed up in our casual-wear from walking around NYC there was no issue. For lunch, the menu prices are fairly steep, but they offered a prix fixe option for $25 that includes an appetizer (ex. salad), entrée (ex. steak) and dessert which we all took advantage of and were very happy. The food was very good and I would recommend this to others.

I'd say that you probably don't necessarily come here for the food, it's more for the view. It is wonderful sitting outside watching the boats cruise by on the harbor. We were there on a lovely day, and could have stayed for hours! Our server, Tarek, was just wonderful. It was a pleasure to spend some time talking to him. He was such a great guy! It was a most pleasant afternoon, and we plan to return! The food was actually quite good, I had a gorgeous salad as did my husband.

I went for an event, the place is very nice and the view spectacular. The food was really great with and excellent service.

We stopped in for dinner. We were seated on the patio with a good view of Governors Island, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Lots of boats passing all the time. Our food was excellent but the service was not. At one point I was asked if I would like another beer and I said yes. After about 15 minutes another waiter came by and asked again if I wanted a beer. The beer finally arrived. When we got the check I luckly noticed they tacked on a 20% service charge. There was still a blank spot for a tip on the credit card slip. BEWARE!!

After completing a trip to Liberty island and being in hot sunshine we were looking for somewhere to get some shade and something to eat and drink so decided to pick here. There was a party inside so we could only have outside seating but we were placed in a nice part with shade and a nice view so more than happy. My daughter picked a pizza and I had the goats cheese salad. Her pizza was really nice and my salad was really well presented and very tasty. Its not the cheapest place to eat for midday lunch but I liked the surroundings and felt it was worth what we paid. The service may seem a bit slow, but I felt that it was more about leaving you to chill and not rushing you. As soon as I required another drink or the bill, it was easy to get the attention of the waiter.

My daughter had her ceremony and reception at the Restaurant. From start to finish, it was a seamless experience. From the day we looked at it, to the day they had the reception, we didn't have a bad minute. Alex was super helpful and made sure the rehearsal had everyone knowing what to do and where to go. Just the fact that cold water with lemon was available was appreciated while we were waiting for everything. On the day of the wedding, the bridal party had a room to get ready in, again with a simple spread of food for them. The food at the reception was fantastic, with the entrees being the beef medallions and Chilean sea bass. There were about 115 people, and there was plenty of room for dancing and dining and the band. The cocktail hour had 8 passed hors d'oeuvres and 4 stations. Never once did we feel that we were not getting full service and value. 5 stars to the staff and venue!

This restaurant never makes you dissapointed. The food is well prepared, tastes deliciously and the surrounding, in door or outdoor, is magnificent, overlooking the statue of Liberty. The staff is proffessional and welcoming. Enjoy it for lunch as well as dinner.

I know this restaurant since, almost, their opening about 8-9 years ago! I have been there many times and cannot recommend better eating enjoyment in New York City on the water. Restaurant has 2 floors of dining rooms, absolutely unbelievable garden dining and Beer garden on the back of the main building. So, people have many options and variety of menus! Yes, I would say - if you want the garden seating for lunch and dinner during the summer month - you better make sure there is no event going on that time - they have big parties with 300-600 people there all the time and Friday-Sunday - weddings are scheduled practically every day - please do yourself a favor - call for reservations! But, even if they are busy, they will always try to accommodate you - they have an additional seating outside for small (2-8 people) parties. Food - yes, it's fancy, with a lot of add-ons such as fruits and mini orchids on the plates, but that's added for refreshment and if someone does not like it - tell waiter do not add it or go to the Dinner - they do not do all those tropical fancies! People go there to try something interesting and different - their owner is one of the most coveted restauranteurs in the city with 30+ years of experience in the business including being a head of the Famous Plaza hotel food service, including all bars, restaurants and ballrooms of the place of the past! I have read some of the reviews and do not agree with them. Go, try for yourself - you will remember your time at Battery Gardens for the rest of your life! I promise!

We were just strolling around lower Manhattan and the Battery Park area on a hot sunny morning and just needed a sit down and a nice cold beer. We sat here for quite a while just chatting and passing the time , a nice little spot. The views of the skyscraper just peeping above the trees was awesome . The only downside was the nearby public toilets could be better - there was no soap or hand wash and nothing to dry your hands on.

We were roasting in NY August heat and planning bargain bucket free ride on Staten Island Ferry so take in Statue of Liberty without you know the hassle of security and going inside it (I am guessing it looks better from the outside and besides which the French praising the US for rightly kicking the Brits out is not a top destination for a Brit!). Anyway there was a sorority mums and daughters thing private even going on inside - all big teeth, hair and fancy dresses in the air con so outside we sat. What a treat. Super staff including a cracking Egyptian fellow who it turned out used to live round the corner from me in New Barnet when I was a lad. Staff were very attentive food was great price was solid but fair. (Not they include service - presumably too many tourists don't tip the full 20%)

Whether summer or winter enjoy the views and great service. Good choice on the menu and wines. Love to sit at the bar outside in summer to people watch and you can't beat the views.

Terrace overlooking the Statue of Liberty just off the State Island Ferry was nice. Tables and chairs were not very clean. Food was average. Not what I expected.

Outdoor seating offered a very nice view. Although the restaurant seemed a little dated, the food was very nice and plentiful. We ordered goat cheese pizza which was tasty. The views were very nice - you are directly across from the Statue of Liberty as well as Ellis Island. Reasonably priced.

For New york city, it’s a very good place. Food is good, service nice and fast. They have good prices . Not expansive.

Excellent food, good service, nice view of Lady Liberty. Good sized brunch menu with excellent pasta, salads, etc. Very reasonable prices considering the setting and view

The view of the East Hudson River was beautiful. We were sitting outside because there was a wedding going on inside. The head chef we talked to made our experience wonderful. The best Basil Tomato soup we ever had and the pizza was the most beautiful (edible flowers on it) pizza ever. It tasted good also. The server was an awesome young lady. The enchanting part of the meal was that little sparrow like birds, pigeons and a squirrel were so close to us asking for some bread. We not only enjoyed feeding ourselves, we fed nature. Great restaurant, can't wait to go there again!!

We only stopped by for a drink before heading onto the water but my word was the bar lady rude and slow. Just couldn’t be bothered to serve and then when the espresso martini turned up it put the icing on the cake...slop!

Visit was for lunch. It was too cool for the patio to open but the dining room in all white was stunning and very inviting. The menu had a terrific variety and priced well. I had the corned beef and cabbage (visit was day before St. Patrick's Day) and it wasn't your mother's corned beef and cabbage. The meat was so flavorful and juicy. The cabbage was a bit crunchy instead of overdone soggy. The boiled potatoes were small red potatoes with a slight herb crust. My friend had shrimp served in a Chinese food take home container. It was full of delicious shrimp.

A chance to see green after all the cement of the city. Right next to Staten Island Ferry terminal. If you've been walking all day, this is the place to sit and relax.

Yesterday was out with my daughter, we stopped by for lunch. There was a family of 5 ahead of us. As I approached the hostess, she told me that the kitchen was closed and they are no longer serving lunch. I had asked her of the family of five that was seated several seconds earlier but she had no response other then to tell me that the kitchen was closed. Lame excuse, in a way I was glad to be turned away because we found a restaurant called acqua on peck slip where the food was great and no attitude to deal with. As far as I am concerned I will most likely NEVER return to battery Gardens.poor attitude.

The location and view are great, right at the tip of Manhattan. The prices for alcoholic beverages are steep. The sangria we ordered was $45, but well worth it as we got a supersize pitcher of a good tasting wine with plenty of fresh seasonal fruit. The pizza was about 14" and was crisp, fresh and tasty. Enough as a snack for two, not really enough as a meal. The wait staff was friendly and service was good. We were told to take as much time as we wanted to sit and enjoy the view.

So glad we stopped here. We stopped for an early dinner. Some menu items seemed a little pricey but they have a wonder "fixed" menu that gets you salad, entree and dessert for $25. It was wonderful. We had the grilled sirloin- and loved it. We had children in our party too- and they were able to easily find something to eat. The Sangria was very tasty too! Nothing like having lunch and staring at the Statue of Liberty! It was amazing!

My husband and I popped in here on a very hot August afternoon, after taking the Staten Island ferry over and back to get a view of the Statue of Liberty. We had a cold drink each and ordered fish cakes and calamari starters, both of which were very tasty - I really enjoyed the calamari - as far as I remember there was some sort of banana chillis served with it too in batter, was so tasty. Service was good and friendly also, views were lovely. Would definitely pop in here again if I were in the area.

It was pretty quiet - like no guests - when we got there at dinner time - albeit early dinner. We could see people who worked at the restaurant, but it didn't seem like it was anybody's job to seat us. Once seated, the waiter seemed to begrudge our presence and didn't seem to want to go out of his way to serve us. A nearby manager didn't seem to mind. I ended up not ordering any food and had a drink while my son had tuna tartar. I tried it and it was pretty good.

We booked this restaurant before our trip to New York & to coincide with a Halloween event we were going to, got a call from the restaurant a few hours before our booking to say that they had to cancel our table as they had a bigger group in. What a shame that earning more money was the priority for this restaurant rather than keeping customers happy.

Had the upper room overlooking Statue of Liberty. Could have catered for 100 people. Wait staff served lovely appetizers. Dinner served professionally and unobtrusively around speeches. We had two choices of main course - salmon and filet mignon. Steaks seemed to be delivered as ordered. If you wanted rare - that's what you got! Veggies were not inspiring. There was an elevator to first floor for those who would find the stairs difficult. Service was excellent and the three course meal was adequate. Appetizers were really good.

The view from this cafe is beautiful, the food is delicious and the wine list impressive, it's just a shame that the wait staff is so unhappy or maybe they had just all had a bad day.

The restaurant is lovely, and is located in Battery Park with a view of the Statue of Liberty. That said, it was a disappointment. My four friends and I wanted to share a few pizzas and a salad. They don't have a salad large enough to share and couldn't make us one. The waiter (a very nice fellow) told us not to order the individual ones listed on the prix fixe menu because the price would become astronomical, so we shared a "larger" one with a small slab of salmon for $22 which was really enough for one person. This place is fine for tourists who want to sit outside and enjoy the view. New Yorkers, consider yourselves warned!

One of the best views in the city and some of the most disappointing food. Some of the entrees were mediocre and some were nearly inedible. Service was friendly, but a little haphazard. Better to go for a drink and the view but elsewhere for a meal.

Excellent to be there, to see, to eat and everything. I really like. It is fantastic because of theirs food, drinks, staff, at all. Take a seat outside and have a photo taken under a beatiful tree. It is Romantic, Enjoy it!!

It was the 2nd of January, it was cold, foggy and dark. I'd decided late afternoon to get on the Staten Island Ferry to go see my favourite ol' gal. As I got back off the ferry and walked towards the subway station at South Ferry, Battery Park really is incredibly badly lit, I stumbled upon this fine little eatery. I could have gone back to Midtown, and eaten there, but this place was like a light in the dark, shining out and asking to be entered. So I did, hunger over took me, I had a quick google, saw there was nothing much else around and went in, and I was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted by a young waitress, who asked where I wanted to sit...there were about 3 tables filled in the whole place, so I chose a table that gave me a look across the bay. I hadn't picked this place, like a wand in Olivanders, this place had picked me. The food was delicious, the staff were extremely friendly and it was warm, something that was badly needed after a round trip on the ferry. If you find yourself on a dark night, in Battery park when it's just a bit too cold, don't head back uptown, eat here, it's worth it.

Arrived at Battery park, on a Grey Line Sight Seeing Bus, late in the afternoon and needed lunch. Walked around the Park and found "Battery Gardens". We were given the choice of indoors or outside. Selected outside and given a table with a magnificent view of the water way and Statue of Liberty. Only had time for a drink and a shared flat bread pizza, really enjoyed it wished I had time for more. Service and food where great, as was the whole experience.

Great pizza non existent service. We had really great Italian pizza. Pepperoni and the ham variant. Waited 20 minutes for desert menu before giving up.

The view of Statue of Liberty is unforgivable in this place, food also is delicious and fresh, staff is wonderful,we had a very good time after a long walk in battery park Best place to finish the tour of the day

this restaurant is overlooking the Statue of Liberty from the Battery park. But to my biggest surprise, the view of this iconic Symobl of the USA, is obstructed by another icon of America, Coca Cola umbrellas!!!!!! Beleive it or not. The food was fine, the wine order delivered wrongly and warm. What a pity. Great location spoiled by poor management . poor service . And you still you have to tip the 20%.

We attended a friends party here and had a great time. The place is clean and the restrooms are easily accessible. The bartenders were attentive and the food was excellent. The staff were courteous and they have 24 hour parking nearby. The view outside of Lady Liberty was terrific. Given our experience, the negative reviews are hard to understand.

I had hoped for a better than mediocre meal. But that is what it was. Chicken salad on a plate with colored endive. And a strange tasting salad at that. Four different servers showed up and the table and all were very standoffish. Lovely view of the boats and harbor.

and expensive ones at that! It did seem like they were grilled at least. But it was just lunch and we were hungry - so filled us up.

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon , we decided to walk to battery park with friends to try the place . By the water , nice breeze, beautiful day, my wife and I ordered the grilled octopus salad . It was awful ! the octopus was slimy and under cooked. the "salad" consisted of 3 little pieces of greens and roasted tomatoes and some potatoes. needless to say, she was sick all night and don't even get me started on the bill. If I could put a ZERO star , I would.

Worst experience ever.. host and waiter with severe attitude problems... we walked into the restaurant and asked the host for patio (outdoor) seating.. instead of escorting us to our table the host simply rudely pointed the direction we should go to get to the patio...then there was the waiter, eager to take our order in a second (even though there was just a few customers there.. not that the place was packed full).. when asked for a few minutes to look at the menu, the waiter walked away with an attitude.. (without saying a single word).. and stud from a distance staring at us clearly indicating he was not there to serve anyone. We felt so uncomfortable by his actions that we had to ask the manager to assign us another waiter, which he did. The second waiter served us professionally (yet without a single smile), we ordered some food (okay quality).. and left wishing we have never stepped in this place. (We chose to have food there anyways just because we were hungry and our ferry to the Statue of Liberty was about to leave and there was no other places around there to eat at that time, but we will never go back there or recommend it to anyone).

I can only recommend that you avoid this establishment like the plague. It’s also revealing how many poor reviews there are for the staff. If you want a quiet, relaxing environment go somewhere else! I went in early and asked if we could simply have drinks. The greeter asked if we wanted a table or to sit at the bar. I requested a table and we were shown to one. We were given drinks menus. When we asked to order the waiter refused, saying that we couldn’t sit at a table and had to sit at the bar. I explained that we had been placed there. He then became quite aggressive and informed me that having worked there for 26 years he knew the rules. I should point out that the restaurant was completely empty so there was no worry about diners being turned away. Once the greeter returned there was an impasse between her and the waiter. There is no way that we could stay in that environment. I rarely give poor reviews, but this experience was beyond acceptable.

We came off the ferry to Ellis and had an early dinner outside in November food was excellent and staff very helpful. Location superb. Pizza was very good

The view from the patio is great. The tables were dirty, metal umbrella tables that didn't seem to go with the china service. The food was mediocre and overpriced. Service left much to be desired - it took us walking towards the door to finally get our check taken care of and they were not that busy - inside or out. I would venture to guess there are better spots to spend your money in the city.

Had a late night snack with wine at this restaurant. The service was really good, as was the lemon flatbread and the Sancerre wine. The view of the lit Statue of Liberty is an added bonus. I really enjoyed my time there, if it hadn't been so late we would've stayed longer.

Beautiful restaurant in great location! Nice outside seating with views to the water and park. Also great bar! Delicious food by Finnish chef! Good wine selection! Definitely should visit during a sunny day!

We had beers in the beer garden in Battery park and the beer was really cheap for good craft beer. It's also a cute little quiet beer garden that wasn't that crowded. I would highly recommend it.

We booked this restaurant because of the view and visited the day before to check it out. The interior is tired and thus the venue was not suitable for the event we were arranging. I am sure the food is great but the decor is disappointing.

My office is not too far away and I love taking friends here. Not crowded at lunch. Interesting menu--"shrimp in a box". The views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are outstanding. Pricey but worth it.

We did not plan on going here but were in the area. Great service and surprisingly good food for an obvious tourist trap. Pricing is based on location. Food is worth it drinks are not.

This restaurant is more or less at the river end of Battery Park. Lots of outdoor seating, to enjoy the sunshine. Waiter service is courteous and prompt. A very good selection of food....anything from a snack to a three course meal, all excellently presented.

I had lunch with my family today with a Groupon I bought for a fix meal menu. The appetizers and main entree were great. Dessert not that much. Service very poor. They charged me for service which they don't write anywhere. And the worst part we specify there was a gluten intolerant person in th group but they didnt care as she felt very sick the rest of the day. Such a pitty. The view and food were great!

I threw my daughter's bridal shower at the Battery Gardens Restaurant in July 2019. Everything was perfect. Starting with the courteous, professional and pleasant service by Ms. Merita, the event coordinator. It was an absolute pleasure dealing with her. The rest of the staff were very accommodating as well, especially Mr. Tariq who went over and beyond to please the guests. To top it all, the food was amazing, the view was breathtaking and the ambiance was perfect all came together to make an unforgettable shower for my daughter.
Disappointed
Great location for lunch after visiting Lady Liberty. A varied menu so something for all the family but a little pricey. Despite being friendly, the waiter got our drinks order wrong 3 times - don't understand why he didn't have a note book as there were 8 of us? The second issue was 7 of the food orders arrived correct but 1 wasn't. this resulted in it being returned and as it was a well done steak it took a while to reach the table. It then was extremely awkward for 7 of us to eat whilst my daughter just sat there. The food was very good but the experience was marred. The manager did come and apologise but clearly eating all together would have been preferable. The final straw came when her food did arrive, some of our party had finished eating and the waiter attempted to start clearing plates whilst she ate - even reaching over her plate!!!!! My husband had to point out how rude this was and told him to stop. They did reduce the bill by only charging for the wrong food that arrived and not the steak - $8 difference and giving one of our grandchildren a free dessert but to be honest the whole lunch experience had been spoilt.
