We were there for a recent conference! I had lunch and it was absolutely fabulous! The staff was attentive and kept the food and drinks coming...

The Bar at this place is good if you want to remove yourself from the Hotel Bustle. Being there for an overcrowded event made this an in Hotel removal from a lot of the noise. The bar staff was Excellent in taking care of us, the only drawback was running a cash tab, and their being 3-4 bar staff, I walked out to the bathroom leaving the cash on the bar, when I returned, I found someone had got a generous tip. Didn't ruin my night, but I guess you have to let them know you aren't leaving....

We stopped in for lunch after the Flower Show and were promptly seated – and that was the fastest service we experienced at 13. We were seated at a table for four and were provided with a small, but varied and serviceable lunch menu with starters, salads, sandwiches and some other options including a vegetarian Portobello mushroom and cheese ‘burger’. The waitress took our orders about 15 minutes after we were given menus and then the wait began. The four of us ordered two ‘Philly Cheese Steak’ sandwiches, a cheeseburger and the hangar steak and eggs. Not a difficult or time consuming order but it took well over 40 minutes for our food to arrive. Based on the service, there was not a high expectation that the food would be hot or good – and luckily, the food was served both hot and it was tasty. The ‘Philly Cheese Steak’ was not a true cheesesteak (and since we are in the town famous for cheesesteaks, it was odd) but it was a good sandwich served with very good French fries. The cheeseburger as also cooked perfectly and served hot as was the hangar steak (served rare as requested) with a loose, sunny side up egg. The food was well above most hotel restaurant fare and we all felt our dishes were very good. If the service was better – faster – and the dining chairs less shabby looking; the rating for 13 would be much higher. As it was, the ambiance and the service really knocked the rating down to an average from a very good overall; but the food was definitely above average.

While staying at the Philadelphia Marriott I had the opportunity to enjoy both breakfast and lunch at this lovely restaurant. Food selections were great and deliciously prepared and presented. Most impressive to me was the attentiveness of the wait staff - smiling, gracious and anxious to please.

The restaurant in the Marriott is ok for breakfast. The portions are very generous. In fact, young kids can share the kids portion for french toast or pancakes. Plenty for everyone. We have three kids and two of them could have shared one order. The food was good. Not a fan of the potatoes that come with the breakfast. Otherwise, a convenient and a little pricey place for breakfast. You can take coffee to go, so I recommend doing that.

Stopped in on our way back to the hotel. We were quickly served and they had a decent menu selection. Nice quiet place to talk and share a meal.

Really nice bar, some great waiting staff..Ali and Jeff, quite professional. Sort of standard hotel fare but pleasant safe when travelling solo

I had one dinner there and one breakfast. Both were OK, nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about either

We stayed at a sister property of the Marriott (The Ritz) and decided to come to Thirteen for breakfast… it was a terrible experience from walking in to leaving. On arrival we were seated right next to the entrance ie the furthest away from the buffet because the greeter didn’t want to walk to the other end of the restaurant. When we said we would prefer to sit closer, we were given a dirty look and instead of escorting us, she pointed to a table. There was very little selection at the buffet and what was there was lukewarm and/ or overcooked and burnt. Quality of items were low although the fruit seemed fresh. They had an omelette station but for the 15 mins we were there, no one attended the station. Several other customers gave up waiting as well. Decor was hotel chain mass produced and lacked any kind of atmosphere - it actually felt quite morbid. The wait staff were not happy and did the bear minimum. Overall, a pretty depressing start to our day.

I just had dinner at this restaurant and the food was good. It is not busy, even in the evenings. Limited staff can lead to slow service and some confusion. Outside seating along the street is also available for this restaurant. Have some crab chowder when you visit.

We visited this restaurant a few years ago and it has fine. This time everything was awful. It took a remarkably long amount of time for a waitress to even come over. This was't just us. Everyone around us had the same problem. When I asked her to clear off the the glassware so the kids didn't knock it over, she gave us the dirtest look. It was unsettleing. The order was wrong. The food took forever. They use to have a buffet and now they don't. It was just a mess.

Nice place for breakfast in the Marriott attached to the Convention Center. Service was a bit slow and we had to wait 45 minutes for a table but the food was excellent.

I enjoyed a Filet Mignon at this place in Feb 2014 and I still think about it. I get mine medium-rare and it was cooked perfectly here. The wait staff is friendly and attentive as well. I look forward to going back!

Your kind and gentle manner helped me get thru an emotional day without embarrassing me. The steak was great. Get the cheesecake!!

I ordered the healthier egg white option. It was not very flavorful, the potatoes were warm, coffee was OK and the price came to over $20. There are options in the immediate area providing that you don't have to eat early.

Requested a salad with steak. When the food arrived, the salad was missing the steak. Server took it back only to return 20 minutes later with an undercooked piece of meat. Rest of the food was too salty.

The service were very slow The food was good Without being great The drinks card was ok with good variety Prices ok Thomas

Food was very good and service was adequate. Not very busy but overall, worth a visit while in Philadelphia.

Acceptable food in the hotel for more than one ought to pay for such portions but good enough to warrant returning when staying at the hotel. With Bank & Bourbon across the street from the hotel, the only reason to go to 13 is when one is staying at the hotel and wants nice food without having to leave the premises. The set up is nice and conducive to socializing 1:1 or with groups of people. When there are conferences the bar gets crowded and loud but is not packed like a nightclub. The bartenders execute the cocktails well and the wines by the glass are not ridiculously over-priced.

I was staying at the Marriott for business and this restaurant was very convenient. First, I have to say the employees at the restaurant are super friendly. Always smiling and always quick to greet me. Next, my All American breakfast was ginormous for the $15 cost. It's a great value for the amount of food they give you. I just couldn't finish all of it. I also could not believe how quickly it came out. The first day, it had to be within 3 minutes of ordering. The second day, it was perhaps 5 minutes. Perfect timing to start my day

Stayed in Marriott with friends and came here for breakfast on a Sunday when Reading Terminal was closed. The buffet really has nice value: $18 per person. I have seen much more expensive elsewhere. But I think while it has good value the selection needs to be improved. The home fries are a bit dry and my friend wished that they can offer some waffles, like many other places that have a waffle machine.

Wanted to get out of the Flower Show fast food arena, so thought for sure that we would have a good meal next door at the Marriott. We were seated promptly, and then our waiter Ed finally arrived and gave us a run down of the menu. I ordered a Cosmo that arrived with our dinner and only after my husband asked about it. We could see it at the bar ready. Our soup never came, and when we addressed this with the server, not our waiter, he said that he could get it. Nice man, but no we want to eat and leave as it was already a long wait. Split dinner arrived and a bit salty, but spoke to a chef at the entryway to the restaurant on my way to a bathroom set up outside of the restaurant that you need to be buzzed into to use. The Chef nicely said that it was likely the Pecorino cheese that was salty, and that it happens sometimes that the cooks get a bit heavy handed with salt. It was not inedible but I felt a bit too salty, as did my husband, and by the way a cook checks sauces before service to the customers, I thought? We have been long time Marrott members, and expected 1, better service, and 2, a better meal. Sorry Marriott you missed the mark.

Great service and nice food! Get the wedge and scallops--YUM. I appreciate the generous pour on the drinks--not common.

Despite a disappointing crab chowder (gelatinous, bland), the Amish chicken was memorable! Great asparagus, very good mashed potato. Large serving—enough to share. Strange bar configuration forces drinkers to stand above you as you eat and attempt to converse...

"I was absolutely amazed at the bartenders-there were three and neither came to take an order." There was one, who seemed to be engrossed with one customer who was a photographer when there were only 7 in the bar at the time ..however, had it not been for keith, a staff member that noticed how long I had been sitting, I would have left. Terrible customer service...it is not my recommendation to patronize the hotel bar-although it is a lively atmosphere, meet your friends and go elsewhere for good service. $20 for a bourbon and ginger-i should have gone to the ritz for a better premium bourbon selection.

Good hearty sandwiches for lunch. Turkey bacon club stacked high with lettuce and tomatoes. Fries were a little soggy. Hamburger was dry (well done) and had stuff asked for none of... if you have time to go elsewhere, this was good but nothing special.

I expected nothing more than adequate hotel food. But, the food was much better than i expected. The steak was well beyond expectations and the wine service helpful.

Very nice restaurant, Had all 3 meals. Newspaper offered at breakfast. Nice verity of selections to choose from for all meals. Wonderful soup and salads. Reasonable prices.

Ate a lunch here. The food was OK, the service was OK, the prices were OK, the atmosphere was, you got it, OK. It was convenient but with so many excellent choices nearby, Marriott has to do better if they want to keep their guests on property. I would not go back.

We had breakfast at 13 following a stay in the hotel. There is a full menu, but at $21.95/person, we found the buffet too good to pass up. It includes unlimited orange juice and coffee (they leave the pot), an omelet bar, freshly made waffles, several varieties of breakfast meats, pastries, fruit and cereals. Service was quick and friendly.

The Dinner was okay as I ate at the bar but the breakdfasts left some issues to be taken care of. Eggs both times that I rodered came either coool(not good for poached eggs) or not soft as I requested. I would not order breakfast there again even though it would mean going outside to the reading terminal.

We ate breakfast here on on my last day attending a conference, service was efficient, food quality and service were good...We had actually stopped in before on the weekend when they had a breakfast buffet, but we were not impressed with the choices & left; however ordering from the menu was much better, loved it!

We ordered in a hurry because we had many things to get done in the city. The food was very good and arrived very quickly.

Nice selection from the breakfast menu. Busy, but waitstaff was very attentive. Food hot and some good egg dishes.

service was fine at this resturant located inside the Marriott downtown , food was lacking .. not impressd at all with the soggy fries , and turkey wrap for 16 bucks .. walk down the street to anyone of the 20 resturants that are close

Good location and nice service staff. Food was crazy expensive (no surprise), but also without flavor and incredibly dense. Huge stack of pancakes and each one felt like three pancakes condensed into one...

Very good breakfast buffet. Handled huge crowds efficiently. Courteous server (Mary). Would eat there again.

only have had lunch but it has always been good. Service is also very good. Very convenient if you have had a long travel day

I went to this restaurant, in the lobby of my hotel because it was getting late and I was hungry for a quick bite and hate room service. As you might have guessed, I generally don't like going to hotel restaurants ad a rule but this was the answer. Prices aren't cheap, but as it was close and quick, for this occasion the price was right. I had a couple of glasses of wine over my dining experience and sat at the bar to ensure faster service. I ordered the soup special which was a spicy carrot, very tasty and quite filling. I also ordered a goat cheese salad which went with the soup selection quite nicely. If nearby, I would recommend for a try.

Ate here in a large group while staying at the hotel 13 is in - the Marriott Downtown. It was decent food and service and I would have eaten there again if we did not have other plans.

I arranged for a group there for a conference. They advised that the food and service were good but that it lacked ambience.

I went for a late night meal and also for the buffet breakfast. Service each time was excellent. I had the crab cakes for my late night light meal and they were just right! The buffet breakfast allowed me to have an excellent veggie omelet, fruit, fresh juice etc. I was pleased.

Very well prepared breakfast, especially for a hotel and extremely friendly wait staff. The corn beef hash is made fresh and particularly good.

Our waiter was top notch and I loved my arranaci appetizer and our wine! A real gem for a hotel restaurant!

Thirteen is the full-service restaurant inside the Marriott. At least, in theory. In multiple encounters with this eatery over the Nov 21-23 weekend, various staff were incredibly rude, condescending, or simply ignored patrons (and not just our party). This experience wasn't limited to just one individual - an evening manager on Friday, an evening host on Friday, a morning server on Saturday, and the omelet station worker on Saturday morning were each special in their own undeseriable way. I think I'm probably one of the easiest folks to get along with, and it felt like I was in a Twilight Zone of inconsideration every interaction I had with this restaurant. If I didn't know any better, I would have thought I had unwittingly walked onto an episode of Boiling Point. For a $30 breakfast buffet that is no better than a Holiday Inn Express spread, you are much better off going next door to the Eatery cafe and getting a coffee or across the street to one of the many venues in the Redding station food hall. At least you aren't paying for a service you don't receive, and in any other nearby place, you aren't abused or neglected for trying to get a meal. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

Brunch was good with a lot to offer but price seems to have risen. Good selection but seems like it was better. Overall was good.

We have been to this restaurant multiple times in 2016 and 2017. They make tasty burgers but do not listen to your requests about sodium. In fact, the children burgers that we ordered, came with over seasoned fries, and a cup of salty chicken soup. Attention, please! People vote with their legs. We may or may not come here again.

I went to Thirteen because I was at the Marriott. The menu is limited. I had the veggie burger. It was good with the exception of the party's consistency. Once I started eating it, it began to all crumble apart. It's fine food, but I would venture outside the hotel next time.

My husband and I had brunch here the morning we checked out of the hotel after trying to eat at the Reading Market but the wait was too long. We sat down at about 11:30, brunch was ending at noon so not many other diners however our very friendly waitress wasn't annoyed with our late seating and after walking us through the brunch options made it a point to tell us if anything was empty that we wanted to please let her know and she would get it for us. I thought that was incredibly sweet. I had an omelette which was really well made and the gentleman working the station even walked it over to my seat which was nice. All in all it was a great selection of well made buffet food, nothing was gross or tasteless, and they give you a coffee carafe which is HUGE in my book. It's good for a quick breakfast before you head out of town.

Breakfast buffet was incredible with beverages included in the price. Offerings from fresh fruit to healthy options and standard breakfast items. Sunday has a more expanded breakfast offering with cook to order omelets and waffles at a slightly higher cost. Breakfast is an expensive option than going to a resteraunt outside the hotel, but both food and service are great. At time of review the breakfast buffet was $18 daily and $21 on Sunday. For convenience and quality it was worth it for us.

I ate here while staying at the Marriott on a business trip. The food was quite good, but the drinks were exceptional. I had a Manhattan that could knock your socks off; easily a couple fingers of Knob. If you find yourself in the Marriott on business, don't feel compelled to go beyond the building for a nice dinner.

I was surprised by the quality of the food. Generally, I try to avoid the hotel restaurants, but since the weather was so bad, I decide to stay in and I'm glad I did. Service is a bit slow, but I wasn't in a rush.

I had a delicious aged New York strip steak. The steak butter was onion flavored.... not the best. Potatoes were good but not as good as the breakfast potatoes they serve with room service. We didn't have dessert as they need more options.

Ate here for breakfast after staying in the Marriott. Was pretty expensive for breakfast BUT it certainly was delicious. I had the homemade corned beef hash very good. Server was an awesome lady.

The breakfast was great. The chef Christine expertly created the fluffiest omelette ever. The waffles were amazing too! I highly recommend the omelette, expertly made with by the charming Christine. I would love to visit again! The coffee was great and plentiful and you got the option of taking some away in a takeaway cup.

Experienced a wonderful stay at the Marriott during the Pope's visit to Philadelphia. On our last night we decided to go to 13 for dinner. We were seated by a window with a great view of outside passerbys. From there it went downhill. At no time did any server come to our table so we opted to try their dinner buffet. This was okay but nothing stood out. At a few points during the meal I tried to make contact with wait staff but to no avail. I actually had to go to the bar to get our drinks. After the meal I went to the manager to arrange to pay our bill. At this time our server came to me and asked if everything was okay. When I replied that we had no service, she laughed and walked away. The manager and apologized and took $10.00 off the bill. If you're looking for a quick bite while at the Marriott, go to Maggianos or the Reading Terminal just across the street. Much better service at those venues.

The food was good but very sparse for what they charge. Do yourself a favor and go over to the Reading Terminal Market instead!

I ate at this restaurant 3 times. Once at night, twice for breakfast. At night, their menu is incredibly limited. I was offered a Philly Cheese Steak as their special. I was told that it was the best in the city. That was a lie. The sandwich was so salty that I couldn't finish it. The next few days I had to have breakfast there. The eggs and bacon were well prepared, but the pancakes and french toast were terrible. The sausages were not very good, either. For the prices they charge, the food is not worth it.

The only thing that was good was the bread for dinner. Salad had too much dressing and lettuce was soggy. Salmon was poor quality and not cooked right. Breakfast was good.

It's rare to find a GREAT hotel restaurant so my expectation are not high. But, as hotel restaurants go, this one isn't bad. Limited menu. The marinara meatballs were over cooked (but actually still good) and the caesar salad was good. The drinks are good. Not bad if you don't feel like walking the streets for a meal.

it was ok, just had apps and drinks. I think we had 2 apps and 3/4 drinks between us and it was $68.

I was a bit daunted by having to have breakfast in a restaurant that wasnt technically part of the hotel I ws staying at - however I was happily surprised. The choice for breakfast is excellent and caters for all tastes except perhaps purely vegan. I ordered off the menu and had the big philly breakfast, very happy with my choice. The restaurant offers a breakfast buffet as well as traditional continental breakfasts for those wishing not to savour the fried breakfast option. The only fault I can give is that before being asked how much coffee I wanted (1/2 cup) my cup was already filled to the brim with little room for much else let alone my milk. When I finished answering the question with "yes please omly 1/2 cup" I was met with a dazed expresssion from a person who didnt know what to do with a full cup of coffee a guest didnt want. I grabbed another empty cup and was then told "here you can fill it up yourself with however much you want" Hmmm.... Seems someone hadnt quite finished their hospitality training... Apart from that minor hiccup, a very pleasant breakfast was had.

Ordered a burger that was FANTASTIC! Mixed drinks had generous pours of liquor in all glasses. Will stay here again!

Limited American menu, poor service most of the time. Dinner menu not much better. Sunday Brunch basic and luke-warm. Worse Philly Steak Sandwich I have ever had

I stayed at the Philadelphia Marriott and wanted a quick and easy dinner after getting in from California. I ate at Thirteen, in the lobby, and found it much better than I expected from a 'hotel restaurant'. For dinner at least, this place stands up well on its own, and I'd happily eat here again whether or not I'm staying at the hotel. The menu is not vast but it has some simple but very well-prepared items such as burgers, turkey club, and so on, as well as more expensive fare. I particularly liked the French onion soup.

First the good part: the breakfast buffet is great as is the ala carte breakfast. Great selection, good food, good service. However, once you get past breakfast the menu is very disappointing. I was at the hotel for an event and had a break so decided to go for lunch. The lunch menu consisted of five items: wings, wedge salad, crab cake, turkey sandwich or cheeseburger. That's it. The waitress said if I wanted to wait two hours til 5 pm there'd be more to choose from. That didn't work for my schedule so I was stuck with the cheeseburger, not really what I had in mind; I was just glad my daughter hadn't joined me since there was nothing she would have eaten. The waitress was nice and the service was pretty quick, but I'm just very disappointed in the lack of variety. This hotel used to have a sports bar with great pub food all day, in addition to this restaurant. IMO, they should have kept the sports bar and closed the restaurant (or at least kept the sports bar menu since there were multiple tvs blasting football, giving it the appearance of an upscale sports bar).

The service was good and the food was yummy. My favs included the fresh salads and butternut squash soup. MMMM mmmm good!

Let's face it. You're not going to have breakfast at the Marriott because it's reasonably priced. But I really enjoyed eating breakfast here two mornings during a recent stay because of the servers. One day I ordered the buffet, another I ordered from the menu. In both cases my servers were lovely ladies who had cheerful personalities and wonderful senses of humor. I thoroughly enjoyed my brief conversations with them both, and they made otherwise average hotel fare special.

I am staying at the Marriott for more than a month now and 13 is my place to have occasional breakfast or sometimes dinner with colleagues. I would definitely recommend ordering the "Big Philly Breakfast" on their menu. Avoid buffet ... it is expensive and serves the same thing which comes in "Big Philly Breakfast" which is sufficient enough to fulfill a hogger like myself.

We went there few days in a row and honestly the breakfast buffet is really basic. On top of that the service is also basic and some personel even barely polite. One time the bill was almost thrown on the table!

I was in town August 13-19 staying at the hotel. Sunday night we were looking for dinner so we stopped in. The host was absolutely great. He was friendly and took great care of us while we waiting on our burgers. He made sure that we had everything we needed for our carry out orders. The Marriott burger is delicious. We stopped by again Thursday night. The bartender was very hospitable. She chatted us up about our stay and made the time we waited go by fast. This restaurant has delicious food and the staff is amazing!

Nice ribeye Philly cheese steak sandwich and refreshing Victory Hop Devil IPA. Center piece fountain is smooth and has a nice calming effect located in the center of the first floor lobby of this Hugh hotel. Welcome cool oasis from the muggy humid street. Had a nice stay at this hotel. Conveniently located in the center of historic downtown Philadelphia.

Nicely decorated hotel restaurant. Very friendly service. Good meatballs, but their signature burger is amazing. The spivey candied bacon is the star, but the burger is juicy and made to order.

We received excellent service, good coffee, and generous portions. Hash browns were the highlight-- just delicious. Only odd thing was the spinach and tomatoes were left OUTSIDE the omelet uncooked and a little cold. Thought omelets were all about the inside.

The only positive here is that the host seated us quickly because only two tables were occupied at dinner time on a Sat evening. Sat for 10 minutes with menus and no wait staff ever surfaced. We got up, left, and had a great meal across the street at Magiano's.

The ambiance was very welcoming and the service by Jimmy was phenomenal. The crab sliders were very succulent and fresh

Due to a long work day, eating at the Thirteen was the best option for me for dinner. The salmon dinner was excellent. The waitstaff was very friendly and my dinner came the way I requested to the "t".

Not much to say, seems like every other hotel restaurant I've been to. Out of 3 days service was very good 2, sub par 1. Fairly good value for the dollar for downtown Philly in a hotel.

Needed to be in and out in 1/2 hour and we made it. I had a turkey club and my wife had a grilled chicken salad. Food was great and service was excellent!

Ordered the steamed grouper and was sick all night with diarrhea. Don't know what made me sick, but didn't eat there any more.

If you want a good buffer breakfast to they have it. If you want a quick turkey club sandwich this is the place. Good food, a little pricy but not terrible for the large portions. Good soups too.

Well, we went to the bar for a cocktail and snacks. I ordered the mule, which was strong and delicious. I also ordered the chicken wing and crab soup. They were both wonderful. My husband ordered the steamed mussels and an IPA. He enjoyed both. I then thought, we will have a wonderful breakfast here in the morning, but it was not as wonderful as I had hoped. I ordered scrambled eggs with bacon and hash browns and pancakes. The eggs were very very dry, the bacon had a strange odor the potatoes were not done enough and the pancakes had a very strange texture. To top it all off, the butter blend was very bland. The coffee was very tasty and strong. My husband said his eggs benedict was just ok. So, I would be willing to try breakfast there again, maybe it was just a bad morning. The bar food was sooooo tasty and that is why I give it a very good rating.

Food ok, drinks ok, non-existing atmosphere and that's it. Doesn't make you disappointed, but not a.place you long for visiting again either.

Usually don’t have much to say about the food at a Marriott bar/restaurant, but this one deserves a review! The C.O.B.L burger was simply amazing, probably one of the best burgers I’ve ever had - 9.5 out of 10! Only reason it is not getting a 10 is for a slightly wimpy bun - it could be more robust. The fries were also outstanding, crispy outside and creamy inside, I would not even call them “fries” - more like fried potato skins w/o the skin.

Mark was very good to me, making sure I got a drink ordered before happy hour ended just minutes later and also getting several menus for me to choose from because I wanted a burger. He was also an adelt conversationalist. The wedge salad was good; though the proportion of dressing to bacon was out of balance. Delicious fries, and a good burger, though I would have hoped for mine to have been slightly more rare. My colleague joined me on the outside patio, and the only downside of that is the lack of access to and conversation with the staff. But it is a wonderful spot for people-watching and enjoy a cold beverage on a hot summer night. Overall, a good experience but also a little pricey, not unlike everywhere else in Philly from what I experienced. And I felt safer being in the hotel than venturing too far out, so the convenience is much appreciated.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in downtown Philly and our server Edward is the diamond! He described all the choices, and what we did choose did not disappoint. The crab sliders are chunky with crab not fillers like crackers or bread! The Cesar salad with shrimp was wonderful. The salad crisp and cold and the shrimp big things cooked just right. They were flavorful and juicy. Even the tea is freshly brewed and good! Edward works the night shift so make sure you get him! Many people think a restaurant in a hotel is overpriced and has lousy food. I actually find all the Marriotts to have good restaurants and do not hesitate to eat there. Edward made this one special.

Had lunch here with clients. It was good, but overpriced. I had the pretzels with baby greens salad. I should have requested the dressing on the side, because it was a bit much. Our server was fabulous and completely charming!!

Went to meet a friend I hadn't seen in over 25 years. The staff were thrilled for us, giving us plenty of time to talk, and talk and talk. The vegetarian fettuccine was amazing and my friend enjoyed her salmon. The manager was kind enough to visit the table and comped dessert due to the special occasion. A variety of baked treats were delicious and appreciated.

Colleague and I ate here 4 nights in a row last week and never had a single complaint. First night I had the bass with mashed potatoes. Came out with lemon butter, which I detest, but it was otherwise quite good. Second night was bacon cheeseburger with fries and that came out perfectly. Third night was the filet mignon and...wow, was it amazing. Yes, a hotel filet was spectacular. Final night was bass and fries but without lemon butter, and it was great. I really had no expectations when we sat down to eat here. However, they impressed me with each meal, especially the filet! I would highly recommend 13, particularly to anyone holed up in their room or otherwise stuck on the property for whatever reason. You won't be disappointed!

I couldn’t get room service to pick up, so I went down to the restaurant to grab a quick bite. My experience with everything from the drinks to the food was mediocre at best. My Prosecco was flat. The crab soup was ok but tasted like it came from a can or a box. The wedge salad was nothing special. I may as well have grabbed a lettuce head from the store and ate it plain. It did come with a few bacon bits and a ton of blue cheese but the bleu cheese did not taste great at all. And it overpowered the salad. The salmon I got on the side of the salad was ok. But cooked a bit longer than needed. All in all I left hungry and a bit sick from the bleu cheese.

We opted to dine at '13', the hotel restaurant. Dinner was excellent - we arrived a bit after 6pm for dinner, and had no wait for a table of 7 (with 2 high chairs). The waiter was far and away one of the most attentive, friendly and professional people we have ever met. He was sensitive to the challenges we faced with feeding 5 young children - each with different tastes - and made recommendations and changes as appropriate. He noticed the kids getting antsy while waiting and had the foresight to bring out portions of their meal to keep them at bay - highly unexpected, yet so great to see that true customer service does still exist! The food was excellent - and the prices not so bad considering a 4-star hotel in the middle of the City. Had a good breakfast there the next morning, with the same attentiveness and professionalism exhibited by the day-staff as we had the evening prior.

We were at the Irish dance competition all day and didn't want to wander too far while we waited for results to post. We hopped downstairs to get a table, but ended up sitting in the middle area by the fountain instead. I ordered the family size cheesesteak pizza...and it was great!

Resturant is an open area off the main walk way in the hotel the main bar is also part of the resturant. The furnishings are not what you would expect in a Marriott hotel. Table were left dirty and the carpet dirty. The food did not look good. Would not recommend this place.

I ordered 2 burgers, both where dry & tasteless. It is very hard to mess up a burger but somehow these guys managed to do it!

Had breakfast there twice. It was ok. Had a chicken salad sandwich for lunch- it really was awful. Not much in the way of atmosphere. Its the only choice in the hotel.

There is a limited menu for lunch and dinner and the eggs for breakfast had been cooked tooo long. Service is spotty depending on the number of diners.

This bar is located inside the Marriott hotel. Bartenders are great and knowledgeable. Not too many bars around the area, so this one stays busy.

Think about dining in an upscale hotel dining room - not the "over the top" experience you would expect. This was the exception. We picked "Thirteen" because of a vegan dish we saw on the website's menu. When we arrived, it no longer was available. Therefore, my wife had no choices from the current menu. But our waiter came to the rescue, and said the chef could accommodate her medical diet, and they would make something special. When it arrived, we noticed there was a hint of oil used in the prep. Our waiter asked if it was OK, and when he realized it wasn't, he immediately took it back and had it corrected. This time the chef appeared in person with a perfect veggie dish prepared without oil. How often does that happen? This was an amazing experience because of the care and concern showed. Our hats are off to Jeff, our waiter, and the entire staff of "Thirteen". A wonderful experience. And when it was time for dessert, our waiter, brought a special fresh fruit dish compliments of the house. Some of the best personal attention we have ever seen.

This is a restaurant inside the Marriott Hotel in downtown. It is over priced and has a limited menu. The waitress was completely uninterested in serving.

Thanksgiving Buffet Lunch was a delicious bountiful banquet. Food was a tasty delight. Service great.

Good restaurant but be sure to go there before 10pm The menu is quite limited after that time. However, the food and service were both good and up to the standard expected from Marriott. Some nice craft beers available. Wine is a little pricey by European standards. Decor is modern and gives a nice feel to it. Overall, a decent restaurant.

I ordered off the menu for breakfast and it was great. Cheap prices. wonderful taste. there is a breakfast buffet also.

The 13 has really great seafood on the menu. It's convenient when staying in the hotel for a conference. Everything was really good...the entrees, appetizers and soup. Service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff.

We ordered from the menu and had the breakfast buffet for 5 of us. Not cheap, but all the food was good; and the service was very good.

the food was quite alright- it was an incredibly busy evening our server did a great job bathroom: this actually spoiled the night for me- the restaurant does not have a bathroom you need to use the lobby bathroom which is locked so then you have to have front desk open for you - very odd and inconvenient from my perspective.

We had a family dinner of 10 , very hectic during dinnertime . Receptionist Nora was very cordial !! Jeff & Edward extended their excellent service , both were pleasant & courteous !!! Loved the food choices , tasty & fresh . Ambiance was okay . Conveniently located inside the hotel . Salmon was fresh !!!

I went there for breakfast one day and it was excellent. It was fast service and every time my drink was empty the server was there to fill it up. The food was absolutely delicious

I have never had a worse experience than I had tonight. We tried 13 because the menu online seemed better that the restaurant in my hotel. BIG MISTAKE! First of all, our waitress must have been on her first job. She brought water but never asked if we wanted anything else to drink. I decided to try the dry aged steak ($35) Our waitress could not have been less attentive. We ( and a few other tables tried fruitlessly to get her attention several times). I ended up asking the gentleman who brought out our salads for a glass of wine. My steak, which I ordered medium rare, came out just over medium which is much more done than I like. Eventually, I was able to get the waitress' attention to send the steak back (which I have NEVER done, but just could not stomach paying this much for an over done steak). I was assured that the kitchen was "expediting" my steak. (Please note that MR steak takes about 5-6 min to cook) My friend completely finished her meal and eventually, just as I was about to tell the waitress ( if I could ever get her attention) to just forget about it, the same gentleman brought out my 2nd steak. This was after at least 20-25minutes. This steak was on the light side of RARE. I was very upset and just decided to throw in the towel at this point. The waitress NEVER even came over to check on the redone entree. About 15-20minutes later when we could finally get her attention again, I told her to take it back and just bring us the check. She had to get us the manager who was very nice and very apologetic and did listen to my criticism well. He (obviously) took the steak off of my order and discounted our meal 20%. Considering I'd only ended up having a salad and a glass of wine, yes, he should have just deleted my entire part of the bill. Please don't waste your precious time or money here.

Staying at the Marriott for a conference. I had to get a decent breakfast because I had a busy day ahead of me. They have a buffet on Saturday and Sunday. This was a Monday and I ordered from the menu. Two eggs over medium, bacon, toast and potatoes would make my breakfast - I was not disappointed at all. The services was fast and the food was good. Coffee on top of it and I was ready to go.

With eight travelers we found something for everyone on the menu. All agreed food was fresh, hot and tasty. The next day we all enjoyed to breakfast buffet but agreed we enjoyed the a la carte food better.

It was convenient for two of us who were part of a meeting in the Marriott. It was crowded and tho' there were tables open, we had to wait. (I'm guessing they were understaffed.) The menu is eclectic with choices to please children and adults. The server did not adequately explain the portion sizes and I ended up with far too much food. My colleague ordered the crab cake appetizer; I the entree and a salad (the watermelon-tomato salad which didn't have as much taste as I'd hoped) and the entree was two very large crabcakes - the appetizer was one large one, enough for a meal. The crabcakes were fair - more shredded crab than lump. Service was pleasant tho' bec. they were so busy it wasn't terribly efficient. And noisy .. oh boy is it noisy! Try to be seated along the windows v. near the hotel's open area bar which is just outside the front of the restaurant. And the restroom? FAR away - not in the restaurant but rather around a few corners in the hotel lobby. It has potential to be great.

It was a big surprise how good the breakfast was. It was not the normal Marriott buffet. We did not try iit for any other meals.

We stopped in for a nice breakfast the next morning. The staff were polite and attentive. The food was very good. We will be returning

Very nice food and great, personalize service. Somewhat small menu. The crab chowder and breakfast buffet are good.

We stopped here for a light dinner since we were staying at this hotel. Took 20 min to get waited on. Food (salads) came quick but my colleague waited another 20 min for her martini! Lady next to us waited 40 min for her meal, then the waiter said, "I'll get you more water". We eventually complained to guy who we thought was the manager, "Sorry he said". Not eating there ever again, although food was OK!

Had excellent service from Jeannie and Desiree (two different days). Extensive, reasonably priced menu for a big city. Great service. Wonderful food.

If you are a guest leave and if you are a local don't go. The Marriott dining experience seems to go down each time they renovate. I used to go the Marriott almost weekly because I worked in the area. Now, I just go if a friend wants to meet for a drink because it is close to the train station. Every time, I do this I wonder why. There is absolutely no atmosphere in the restaurant. I met a friend for drinks and appetizers. The drink prices were high and not a great drink for the price. The appetizers are the same. I must remind myself not to return.

We stayed at the Marriott this restaurant is in. Boring Food and overpriced. Blah. Leave it for beautiful ones located very near by!

Other people that have reviewed this restaurant did not like it. However, the wait staff were friendly and attentive. I loved the Eggs Benedict-- it was perfect. The Berry medley was fresh and tasty. The wait staff checked on me often and as food was prepared it was brought out by whoever was available. The pricing was average for breakfast food in a hotel (around $12). I had Eggs Benedict at another restaurant in Philly and theirs weren't as good (I'm just saying!!!!). Also, I went back later to get a ginger ale and the bartender acknowledged me and waited on me right away. I had a good experience..... kudos to the staff and restaurant.

This restaurant is priced reasonable for a hotel restaurant. Great menu selection. Recommend their burgers and their meatballs. Delicious. Service is excellent too.

Breakfast was excellent. Great buffet with many choices but the lunch menu was quite limited and with the items there all having cheese or dairy in the dish, it was very limiting. I had the burger with no cheese and found it good. I just wishe there were more choices.

The hostess showed us to a table for two next to the serving door (we asked for and were move to something less noisy and with more light -- this at 6:45 a.m. in a restaurant with fewer than ten occupied tables). The hotel website says there's a breakfast buffet... there wasn't. We looked down at the coffee cups. One still had a rind of someone else's coffee in it. We left, handing the coffee cup to the hostess.

Thirteen was okay. I had the salmon entree. It was okay but not a lot of flavor. My server was very nice no complaints there. Just feel like the price is too high for what is offered. Small piece of salmon on top of Lenta beans, no bread, no salad, just that for $24. Would probably choose another place if I had it to do over....

I came in for a business trip and arrived during a rainy Sunday. I came into the Marriott’s 13 lounge and it was spacious and well decorated. The ambiance is nice and not overly crowded. However, let’s move on to the food. I had a “deconstructed” shrimp cocktail. How do you deconstruct a shrimp cocktail? Well you put two on a plate with tortilla chips and two in a small mason jar filled with a Mexican bean smelling sauce. How is that a deconstruction? Very strange combo. Funny tasting. Next the salmon which is served with string beans, 3 tiny tomatoes, a zucchini strip and a sweet sauce which I can’t identify. The salmon was over salted and small for the price. Attached is a pic of the salmon missing an inch off it. Please keep menus simple and try not to reinvent the wheel.

...food is ok. Not outrageously expensive although the drinks are a bit pricy. Bright open atmosphere, located in the lobby.

Dinner menu had few choices but presentation of scallops was unique and they were tasty. Bowl of corn chowder was excellent.

Food was average. High prices for breakfast buffet. Good service. Convenient. Nice lunch and dinner menu

I'm traveling with my 9 months little baby and asked to heat my baby's food 20 secs in a microwave. First they said that they had no microwave. After some curious questions from our side, they confirmed the microwave was available but "the supervisor doesn't allow this kind of usage". Im writing this review on behalf of my baby, who was not happy with this rude response. This restaurant doesn't deserve my respect.

Our waiter, Ed, was phenomenal. We got our appetizer in 90 seconds. We got our food very soon after. He told us about good places to visit near the hotel, and he even wrote it all down for us! Ed clearly loves his job and he made sure our visit was phenomenal. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was perfect, I absolutely loved this place.

This bar sits in the middle of the foyer. It stays very busy so there is no one under 21 allowed after 6pm. Yes the drinks are expensive but who doesn't love a hotel bar. Try the butterscotch martini.

Honestly, I dinned on Thirteen cuisine via room service at the Philadelphia Marriott downtown so I can not speak to the atmosphere. I can however, vouch for the Cheeseburger and Fries with my local chilled bottle of Olde Philadelphia Root Beer. The cheeseburger (offered with choice of cheese - mine was a high quality cheddar) was a decent 1/2 lb patty with red onion, leaf lettuce, tomato, and sweet pickles with a little kick. Pair that up with the spicy Goulden spicy mustard and Mayo they provided and it was really good. They will prepare the hamburger however you like your steak. The french fries were a skinless steak fry with a perfect crisp if you take the serving lid off in a timely manner ;). NOTE: IT WAS A ONE HOUR WAIT - THIS IS A CONVENTION HOTEL AND IT WAS FULL.

I ordered French Toast. The waitress poured my coffee,it was fresh and piping hot. She was sweet as pie,to me. The Manager personally delivered my order,to keep things flowing. I will report on dinner,in 2 weeks. Breakfast was just fine.

Chicken soup was $9. Shrimp tacos came with one fried shrimp per taco for $19. Save your time and money and go somewhere else for lunch.

I loved the steak -- much better than average. Also, everyone in our large party liked their meals. In all, the food itself was a strong 4 stars, and when I add the convenience of its being inside the Marriott, where we were staying, I think Thirteen deserves 5 stars.

Since I was at a conference and having some hip issues, we ate here and ordered room service several times during our stay. We would highly recommend. The staff were all friendly, attentive and good. Ed, JoAnn, Desiree, Jeannie, and others. Not only that, we found the prices very reasonable. First and Foremost, Ed was an excellent waiter with good advice on the menu, what to do at the Redding Market and attentive. The food for dinner was amazing. We shared the Baked Fusilli, Crab Cakes, Grilled Swordfish (with white asparagus, baby veggies and risotto (my favorite dish from this restaurant, exceptional), and a Pumpkin Waffle with Bourbon Ice Cream. Plus the bartender made excellent Gin and Tonics, and with my favorite gin available, Tanquery 10. Second, breakfasts were substantial and very reasonable priced, chose the All American, with variations. Very fast service. JoAnn, Desiree, Jeannie served us. Third, lunch service was good, Enjoyed the Turkey BLT, Noble Star Bacon Burger, Maryland Crab Soup and the Philly Quesadilla on various days, Room Service orders included wines and Philly cheesesteaks (didn't get to do our tastings around town; however, this satisfied the cravings...wonderful bread.

My friend and I stayed in Marriott downtown and had our breakfast here. The menu was eclectic. As I was having difficulty choosing what to order, my friend spotted the shashuka and I knew immediately that was what I wanted. My friend had the egg benedict with crab cake. The coffee was wonderful. We both liked it. I enjoyed my shashuka tremendously. In traditional shahuka, the eggs were dropped into the broth. However, here, the chef took an extra step to fried the eggs and added more texture to the eggs. It was really really good. My friend's egg benedict was wonderful too. Besides the wonderful eggs and crab meat, the home fries was so good too. This restaurant definitely delivers great food and more importantly, it is not expensive.

The quality of food is acceptable, but the wait time is not. I got there about 9:30pm for dinner, well past the normal dinner time, and was told there would be a 30-minute wait. The hostess suggested I go to the lobby lounge, where I could order restaurant food. I went there, but had to wait about 15 minutes for a waitress to even approach me. Once I ordered, it took about 45 minutes to get my food. When the waitress finally did arrive, she graciously provided me with a complimentary glass of water to tide me over until my food arrived. I ordered an ice tea, but that didn’t arrive until after I had finished the meal. The waitress was nice and friendly, but she was overworked. Marriott needs to employ more waitresses to handle the crowd, and it has to hire more people for the kitchen so people don’t have to wait for a simple meal like a Philly cheesesteak sandwich (which cost $16).

Nice, and good food choices. Liked that had a low-cal set of options. Did not try buffet, but others liked it. Clean. Helpful and kind staff. Would return.

Went on business. Met other people there and so we all needed separate checks. Waiter said no problem. Food was delicious. Rockfish was prepared really nicely! The waiter seemed confused the entire evening. It was sad. The checks came out each with one item. Some people had 3 checks to pay just for themselves. It was beyond ridiculous.

Really a hopping place, even at breakfast. Typical and also not-so-typical foods for breakfast, great staff, food done very well and served quite promptly We didn't have a reservation so can't tell if we were lucky or it is always that way. Eggs, toast, coffee, juice, potato fries all great. On the first floor of the Philly Marriott Downtown, just off the main lobby. You can't miss it. Enjoy!

Better experience in the lobby than enclosed restaurant. Try the bulgar wheat veggie burger with fries. Great selection of drinks ....vibrant bar scene

Very limited choices on the new menu but the food was good plus they have gluten free bread so I had a sandwich. Service is much better during breakfast than lunch especially if you're in a hurry. Had to go in search of the waiter twice during lunch just for mayo & the check. Not a good use of my time especially after the waiter had a chip on his shoulder as if the best ever.

Our waitress was beyond friendly and attentive. The food was good, not great. We were there for lunch, and the burgers were a bit salty.

The food is awesome though you will have a hard time finding a 100% vegetarian dishes. The ambiance is very COOL and since the restaurant is in the 12th street side corner of the hotel area, you will feel it Quite inside. The restaurant staff is also helpful and cooperative.

The food was not average fare and was tasty. The service ranged from okay to very good. The staff was friendly. It's not a place I would go out of my way to eat, but if you're already in the hotel you could do much worse.

My husband and I weren't sure based on older reviews that we should try and eat here, but last minute we decided to give it a chance. Excellent decision we made! Ed was our server and was personable, fun, and attentive. He was able to help guide our food choices nicely and made us feel completely welcomed. The food was delicious! My husband started with the sweet potato and carrot soup- so tasty and creamy! I had the pear and bacon salad which was a wonderful array of flavors. For our main dishes my hi and had the rockfish and I had the sea scallops- both of which were some of the best we've ever tasted. We ended with each a bit of cheesecake. The atmosphere was lovely as was the service- even the manager stopped over to check on our meal. Would definitely recommend!

Ed was the greatest server and the food is amazing!! I had the baked chicken, broccoli, and mashed potatoes, a must try.

Jeffrey our waiter was very helpful and went out of the way to be kind because we did not want too much food.He got us something to share .The drinks were very good and our food was good bar food.

Not my first time at Downtown Marriott, nor my first time at Thirteen. It was my first breakfast though. It was a breakfast buffet with a delicious omelette and waffle station. No need to go out looking for something. Accessible from street, too, so good for non-guests of the hotel as well.

My meal took over an hour to arrive, and was seriously undercooked. I sent it back and went somewhere else. It should not be that difficult to serve burgers and fries.

Excellent food and service .Had the pork chop and it was divine! Little pricey but worth the $. Good easy access for people staying in the hotel.

This looked like a nice place and since we were staying there for a conference decided to try it out. After waiting for a table for about 45 minutes we finally got a seat. Once inside it took another 10 minutes to get someone to serve us drinks. Then we ordered salads and entrees. Time passed and finally I got the server to bring us some bread because by then we were pretty hungry. He brought out s sub roll cut in half. After another half hour passed we finally got our salads. Mine was terrible - no recognizable lettuce and chewy candied watermelon. My husband had a wedge salad with an odd dressing that couldn't be identified. Finally the entrees came - my rockfish was pretty good, but my husband's $34 steak was fatty and hard to chew. The accompanying fingerling potato were bland and chewy. The server was sweet and kept complaining about the kitchen. As a result our drinks were comped - but it was a very disappointing $100 meal. Many better places to eat in Philadelphia.

Ate 2 meals there during a conference and both were great. Good size portions and good food. Very enjoyable, My only complaint is that the service was good.

The service is what really made it, the food was good but the service was out of this world. Great Gluten Free suggestions, well done.

Had a wonderful dinner with relatives. Food and service excellent. We visited for well over two hours total, on a Friday evening, and were never rushed. Recommend.

For a hotel restaurant, Thirteen is actually a decent place to eat. The customer service is good. The menu selections are not exciting, but they are fine if you don't feel like exploring elsewhere. The crabcakes are great!

The menu was not your run of the mill coffee shop. It is a bit more upscale than a regular hotel coffee shop/all around restaurant. The menu was decent and they have a late night pub menu that was very good, lite dishes as well as something a bit more filling. Good breakfast buffet on weekendsm staff very friendly!

Dinner was good, but the food was incredibly overpriced because they have a captive audience. It was snowing with lots of snow already on the ground. My companion had come from Florida and did not want to go out into the snow. We asked at the desk about local restaurants available through the enclosed walkway and they directed us to the hotel restaurant. Only the next day did we learn that there are several restaurants available through the enclosed walkway, and we could have avoided Thirteen's price-gouging.

I had the most delightful Chesapeake benedict here--eggs benedict with crab meat and some J.O. spice! Great service, full bar, and many other nice menu items including a breakfast buffet option, which I also recommend.

Ate here for lunch and breakfast. Asked for TV AT TABLE to be turned to Paris news. Was completely ignored. Was not served water. Asked for heavy cream for my tea and the wait staff looked at me like I was crazy. Won't be back.

great place to be. great food, well prices friendly staff. Hope all enjoy the food. food is always warm

The staff were great. Food at the buffet in the morning was predictably lukewarm. Prices typical for convention hotel. Do yourself a favor and go to the Terminal for lunch at an authentic place or walk up 13th street for a much nicer dinner.

Two meals here One dinner, which was good, with weak service, and menu seemed limited One breakfast buffet, which offered very limited items, and mediocre service Lots of options within walking distance, so easy to skip

$17 for a glass of scotch (not crazy expensive scotch) is a little much. The food is okay but again much more expensive than anywhere else in that part of the city
Steak was great...avoid the chicken
Convenient, and pretty good. Service was good, but not enough staff to handle the crowd. Ate there twice...wonderful steak the first night, but the chicken was very dry on night number two.
