We loved our meal here and the service was fantastic. The choice of food was interesting and delightful, very tasty and well presented. Service was great from the young lady that greated us, the barman and wait staff

This is very popular Ckelsea tapas bar, packed with mostly young people well into the nite. Seating is very close, and only wooden barstools. The food was really quite good, and service was friendly and quick. Sadly, it would have been a much better experience, for me, if there was a chair to sit on (or a wall to lean against).

I have had a lot of Tapas in many countries but this was truly exceptional. Granted I was there at lunch time on a THU in summer in NY but the food was to die for. My favourites were the cockles, the lamb skewers and the Chicken Liver Pate. The service was also exceptional and both Keith and Arturo were excellent. The wine selection is great and they assisted me in pairing with my food. Travelling alone it is tough eating tapas because you want to try all and yet you don't get too finish all but I really gave it my best as the food was excellent, I ordered six dishes in all. They also gave me a sample of the Fava Bean on crusty bread and it was scrumptious. I cannot fault either the service, food or ambience even though it was quiet, it felt good. Would recommend this to all, nights are meant to be busy so if you want to take time, cruise and munch - go at lunch time....again AMAZING.....BTW the restaurant came highly recommend by the doorman at the Library Hotel and I am going to give him a big hug for the recommendation....

Celebrated a birthday with brunch at Tia Pol and was blown away! Great variety on the menu - satisfied some very picky eaters. Recommend stuffed piquillo peppers, lamb skewers, fried chickpeas, and definitely the sangria.

Went here very late for dinner after going to Sleep No More. The squid ink dish was amazing, highly recommend.

Saturday night , we had great tapas suggested by our server and excellent fast service ( thank you Dia ! ) The croquetas, patatas bravas, skid in ink. carrot salad , tortilla espanola and the desert ( leche frita) everything was good !

This is a delightful restaurant in the middle of the Gallery District in Chelsea. This place has wonderful tapas from a small but very well done menu. The servers are a great asset as they provide excellent descriptions of the small plates and wine selections. Be prepared to pay high-end prices, but this restaurant is well worth it. I recommend that you make a reservation. Try to get the tables in the front section of the restaurant. They are intimate and you can enjoy conversation from your companions. Happy dining. :-)

i know this tiny restaurant (tapas bar) has been around for awhile, but we got there for the first time last night. the food is excellent. they have a very knowledgeable staff that knows the menu and their wines well. the best of the best: patatas bravas (who could imagine potatoes being so great), ham croquetas (you will want to eat 10 of these!) and shrimp ajillo (perfect!), but everything we had was delicious. it's a small, tight place - it gets very crowded - make a reservation - it is worth the wait!!

About a block from the Highline at 18th Street, found this small bar, open to the street weather permitting. True to its Spanish Heritage, Tapas, Wines, & Beers from Spain. We did not eat here but the items being brought out of the kitchen looked excellent.

The best tapas west of Madrid. We all enjoyed a variety of delicious dishes all small but excelente. Our server was very attentive and the back room atmosphere was good with comfortable sitting.

I have eaten at this restaurant more than any other in NYC. I have taken a bunch of people there to eat and every meal has been just great. It is my default when I can't decide and I always leave happy.

We really enjoyed the food and would certainly go back but the table at which we were first seated was right outside the restroom - a very unpleasant location. We saw an open table in a better location and were graciously moved upon our request.

Small but good- we sat in the back room and shared dishes- the Pimientos estilo gernika(roasted peppers) where very good as was the steak with Chimi Churi sauce, as well as the shrimp in olive oil. Overall a very good dinning experience

First I'd like to say that they have great great great authentic tapas. We had a reservation so we were sequestered in a party room in the back that was totally empty with no ambiance so that sort of stunk but if you can get here early just sit in one of the non reservation seats in bar/main room much more fun!!! But food and sangria were great

Small and intimate but with a great atmosphere Food and wine selection was fabulous Service was also great. Would highly recommend,

Three of us ate dinner there four nights ago. Their tapas were among the best we have ever eaten -- tasty and inventive. Great service -- our waiter explained the various menu options and described the tapas when they arrived. We had seven tapas dishes among us -- we most enjoyed the artichoke heart and white asparagus salad, blistered green peppers with sea salt, roughcut potatoes, and octopus salad with white beans -- followed by almond cake with almond ice cream and dulce de leche. We got there are 6 pm and were seated in the back room, which was quiet when we got there and didn't get too noisy. If you like tapas, don't miss Tia Pol.

Though the seating stools were very uncomfortable we really did enjoy our tapa dishes here. The food is to go back to. Service is pleasant and efficient and very reasonably priced - for New York standards!

food & service really good - but space is really tight! my friend and i were at a small hightop table for two in the narrow space opposite the kitchen. had to keep our arms in or we would be bumped by customers & waitstaff. Artichoke salad great - all jamon great. call ahead to make sure they will have suckling pig - they dont prepare it all the time.

Tia P's tapas aren't neither the teeny mouthful of extraordinary taste sensation that leaves you longing for more as it slides down nor the conventional version implied by the common name the dishes go by. They are BOTH generous and original. For example, the fried fish came n 1-inch thin bits lightly crusted with crumbs flavored with some piquant but not peppery mystery taste and without grease. Even the fried artichoke bits generously sprinkled through a mixed greens salad where crisp, sweet and drained of fat. The garlic broth on the steamed cockles (baby clams, to us) included essence of unidentified but fresh, tart herbs that made it a different experience from conventional mussels "mariniere" dishes but still offers the high-dose garlic we loved. [ The careful, friendly service includes a server who anticipates your need for bread to sop up every last drop.] Entree-size scallops were lemony; a mini-sandwich of Cuban braised pork was too good for its owner to share, so we cannot describe the exact reason for its popularity. Seconds were ordered,,. Our hungry party of 4 non-drinkers was happily full for about $120 including tax.

We made reservations a few weeks before our trip. Which was a good thing because the restaurant was packed by 7 pm. The food was wonderful! We are vegetarians and there was plenty of items for us to eat. The spicy potatoes and corn croquettes (one of the specials that night) were our favourites. The service was great too! I would definately eat here again and recommend this place to friends we know who are coming to NYC.

It was good, not amazing. Sangria tasted fine, but was a horrible version of sangria, pale pink. Idk what it was. Favorite thing was Serrano wrapped artichokes and manchego. Cheese plate and meat plate nice. Gambas ajillo were good. There were good specials, skirt steak which was a large portion, and a goat cheese crostini. Other thing to note that in retrospect was annoying: we had a reservation. It was empty when we arrived. We were so hot by the end of our meals we didn't wanna stay for coffee or dessert.we assumed it was bc the place was now full. We were seated next to expresso machines. Put of curiosity I reached out and touched the back, incredibly hot.i don't know why they would seat a party there in an empty restaurant, and it also seems like it's a hazard.

A very cool urban Tapas Bar right next to the Highline. Fantastic service and very good food, extremely popular (busy) on our visit. We booked a table for 2 online whilst in LAX waiting for our flight to NYC. We arrived 10 minutes early so sat at the bar at the front and ended up staying at the bar for our dinner. Some very tasty options on the specials board and whilst i am a carnivore the carrot salad was amazing. Good selection of wines but a limited range of bottled beers. All in all a very enjoyable first night out in New York, we walked the Highline at 10.30pm after dinner.

After a warm afternoon of taking in a variety of local art galleries, including the Richard Serra exhibit at the Gagosian Galleries , we stopped by this unpretentious eatery promising Tapas .... What unexpected treat! Though the space was a bit confining (narrow) , the open trifold doors allowed for a comfortable setting. We shared 3 dishes, marinated red peppers with cheese filling (? Piquillos), crispy artichoke salad and the tomaca which was exceptional. The wine listing included several Spanish selections that were well paired and complemented the tapas. Service was friendly and accommodating. All round delightful experience...... Worth the effort!! Try it.

I loved the great selection of food here, and really wonderful staff - they patiently recommended the best/special dishes for that day - the garlic prawns were to die for!

Came here twice on my last 2 week trip to NYC. So happy NY is getting some fantastic tapas restaurants. As a Spanish food lover this one has a number of traditional Spanish tapas as well as a few with some unique twists. Ingredients were well chosen and most tapas easily complimented on another so it was easy to choose. Wine selection was honest and even included Priorats (rare in US) but some of the very best.

Just had a couple of glasses of wine here. Lovely small atmosphere, dim lighting, intimate vibe. Would go back.

We stumbled upon this cosy Tapas bar after our sunset sail from pier 62. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming, the wine is top rated and well priced but the best thing is the delicious and creative Tapas dishes. We chose a couple from the specials and a couple from the menu card....all absolutely delicious. We will definitely visit again the next time we're in town. Top Tip: sit at the bar and get the staff to recommend your wine.

Love the tapas at this local favorite. While the wine is is lovely, I prefer to sit by the window and sip sangria when the weather is nice. I always get the charred shisito peppers and a plate of ham.

When visiting my sister and meeting my niece we decided to meet here. My sister and husband discovered the restaurant years ago. My niece and I loved everything from the deviled eggs to the lamb. We had 5 or 6 different delicious tapas. It is small and reservations are a good idea. Pitcher of sangria perfect too. My niece,a New Yorker, said she is bringing her boyfriend here and I will return on a future trip back to the city,

This was my favorite restaurant when visiting New York. We had tapas and wine. The Gazpacho was so fresh and flavorful. Our shrimp with olive oil and garlic was delicious and we had serrano ham triangles stuffed with artichokes and manchego cheese-delicious! I only wish that I would have written down the name of the wine that I had!

This is a nice place to visit with a group that's up for sampling all sorts of well prepared and well presented foods. Seven of us had a reservation (and I'm glad we did) for a Saturday afternoon- what fun! When I first walked in and heard the music and many customers, I was concerned that it may be too loud for pleasant conversation. But I was pleasantly surprised that it was busy and private at the same time...Good job restaurateur! We shared a pitcher of sangria and fourteen wonderful small dishes featuring everything from eggs, salad and lamb to chorizo, trout and tortillas. I only have one small negative: being 5'3", when I sat at the table, my feet could not touch the floor. I really wish that someone had offered me a stool.

We popped in for lunch one afternoon to get out of the rain. We had a patient waiter who dealt with our rowdy group, good sangria and everyone enjoyed their food! It was served quickly and was hot fresh and tasty. You really can't ask for more. The only thing that I would suggest is the specials be printed to make it easier to understand the different items and groupings they were offering. I don't eat lamb but my friends do and they loved it. I enjoyed the ham croquettes and the Spanish omelette!

We made early reservations at 6:00PM for 2 (a must if you want a table in the quieter back room) and were promptly seated. Our server Julie was gracious, helpful and patient in suggesting several Spanish white wines that were in our description of what we enjoy. We started with the deep fried chick peas and the assorted olives. The olives were awesome -- the chick peas OK. We then ordered several Tapas to share including the Patatas Bravas (potatoes), Squid in Ink with Rice, Shrimp with garlic in olive oil and chile and the special scallops of the day. Service was attentive and the food was excellent, served piping hot right from the kitchen. The front area is a crowded, cozy bar with louder music so if you enjoy that vibe, sit there. The back room was relaxed and enjoyable. We left full and happy.

Make a reservation because this is a very popular restaurant for very good reason. The small dining area with exposed brick feels Euro-authentic. We enjoyed all the tapas plates we selected including the lamb skewers, ham croquettes, serrano ham triangles, shrimp in olive oil, blistered peppers, and octopus salad. Helpful wait staff. It's all good. Enjoy!

Like eating in a noisy, cramped, smokey toilet. "I feel like I'm sitting in a frying pan," my girlfriend said. Staff chronically unhelpful.

I went here because my fave food are Spanish tapas, and I've been to just about every tapas restaurant in Manhattan. Restaurant: dark, long and narrow, unappealing to look at...sure the focus is on the food but some decent decor and comfy seating would boost my desire to hang out here longer than 45mins. Spending a little dinero on these things would go a long way! Food: was ok. Loved the shrimp and cockles, great spice and flavor in both. The other tapas we had were average as was the cheese and meat plate which had decent amount for the price. Sangria was ok. I've had better. Service:does anyone in the front smile? Didn't greet us, just sat us at a table. There were way too many servers, were not very friendly, they seemed bored and wore it on their faces. They preferred to congregate with one another at the bar area. Although the expediters who emerged from the kitchen to deliver our tapas were very nice and friendly. They should move those two guys from the back to the front of the house!!! I think Willie Degel needs to visit this place and arrange a Restaurant Stakeout.

We have enjoyed this tiny restaurant several times and found the service friendly and helpful. This is a nice place to meet friends and have a glass of wine with a few plates or make a meal out of the wide selection of tapas. So far the croquettes our are go to favorite.

This place is delicious. I've been here twice now and both times I was very happy with the food. Between my friend and me we got 4 or 5 plates each time and it was plenty of food. There's a good variety so the small plate idea comes in handy since you want to try so much. The potatoes with cheese is probably my favorite dish. Service was friendly and the atmosphere is nice, dimly lit and small to make it an intimate setting.

The quality of the food is really bad and the dishes are really small. The staff is totally ungrateful. Be careful with "Happy Hour" because they always try to cheat you. I will never repeat this mistake.

We went to this place yesterday and had a real nasty service. While looking into the wine menu, the server came, closed the menu (still in my hands) and took it with the words: you won't know any of these wines anyway. I know i'm only a tourist from france, but why wouldn't i know spanish wines? Asking him about that reaction, he just smiled and said:"oh i was just trying to be helpfull."we left.

You can reserve a table in the back or simply sit at the bar - the food/wine list are amazing and the bartenders/waitors are great. Get the roasted green chiles - so good! - and we had pork scratchings which were the special of the day. Great. The patatas bravas are some of the best I've had! Great bar scene as well if you just fancy a nice bottle of Rioja.

Tía Pol (Spanish for Auntie Pol) is one of my favorites eateries in West Chelsea. Not because I live practically above the restaurant, but because of the consistent good food and friendly staff. It is a tiny place so I advice you make reservations for happy hour it dinner. You can easily find a seat for lunch and chat with the friendly locals who make this a regular lunch spot. All the food is good and the wine list although is not extensive it showcases great small boutique Spanish wines. ALL TIME FAVORITES: Paquetitos de Jamon, Manchego Croquetas, Garbanzo Fritos, Gazpacho (Seasonal) Papatas Bravas, Gambas al Ajillo, Pan con Tomate and Tres Salsas. NOTE: Semi Prix-Fixe Lunch Specials from Noon - 3p

Nice food ( particularly Serrano ham with artichoke and mancheco cheese) We had 2 choices each and also some good traditional bread that I think had some raisen included, this was good to sop up juices . We shared and liked all. We had a really good medium bodied red wine by the glass and it was so good we had a second glass each. The waitress did write the name down for us but I have misplaced. We found wine prices in NYC dearer than most in Dublin and natch Spanish wines in Spain. The wine we chose was so good tho but would have worked out better had we chose the bottle. The atmosphere was quiet , soft lighting and the service excellent. Just what we needed after tiring travel. Would definetly return .

We were exploring the area and happened upon Tia Pol. Loved the variety of tapas. All were well executed. Wasn't sure what to expect for a "bocadillo" but loved this tasty, hearty sandwich. (I typically don't eat bread but this was worth it!) Left with happy tastebuds and that for a NYC restaurant, received great value.

Stunning fresh tasty food, lovely atmosphere and superb service..they went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable.

We found this restaurant in travel guide and it was definitely good choice. The tapas with vine were so delicious - the best tapas I tried ever. The service was fast and pleasant.

I am so happy I remembered this place! Had an AMAZING beef tapas dish that I've been longing for every since! The next time I'm in NYC I will definitely visit again! Stumbled upon it randomly and very happy I gave it a chance :)

Five of us had dinner, one of our group is a friend of our daughter who has eaten here many times. The food, tapas-style, can't be faulted. I especially enjoyed the peppers and the fried custard for dessert was unusual. I would have given an excellent rating but for the seating. The restaurant is relatively small (long but narrow). We were seated at a high table with stools on one side and a hard wooden bench on the other. All the tables I could see were like this. Not very comfortable and quite cosy with 5 of us. My daughter's friend thinks this is deliberate so diners don't linger and eat up and get out. But go for the food.

On the street, this restaurant is hard to spot because there is no sign above the restaurant's door (see my photo). This is a small and narrow restaurant that widens in the back with a room dedicated to community seating. I recommend that room because it is quieter. I recommend the extremely flavorful Cheese Croquettes (see my photo), they are 2 for $4, 4 for $8. They were the special croquettes of the day (if you call the restaurant they will tell you what the croquette of the day is). They serve ham croquettes at dinner all the time, I have not tried them yet. I highly recommend the Squid in Ink with Rice, $13 (see my photo). EVERYTHING in the bowl the squid is served in is VERY FLAVORFUL and very fresh. I recommend that you do not order the Chicken Liver Mousse with Pedro Ximenez because the taste of the liver is virtually totally covered up by the taste of the Pedro Ximenez. See me later for the remaining 997 reasons to try my recommendations.

Very nice a small tapas restaurant in Chelsea area. Good quality and service. Atmosphere is also very nice

This cramped tiny tapas bar is very much in keeping with the tapas bars in Spain. We got there around 6:30 right before the evenings rush so we pretty much had our choice of seats and no wait. We had come in for a glass of wine but spotted the couple next to us eating a grilled octopus dish and couldn't resist. We ordered that along with fried chick peas, chorizo, deviled eggs and for dessert... padrones....the fried green peppers, not a typical sweet but one of my favorite Spanish dishes. Everything was delicious. Along with a lovely sparkling white wine which, Patrick the bartender recommended as a perfect summer vino. He was right. I have eaten here before and it does not disappoint. The restaurant does get insanely crowded but pick off hours and you should have a great time.

Book ahead and leave yourself some time to spot this little gem in Chelsea. Great selection of tapas, Spanish wines, cocktails and other specialties. Always busy and bustling, the place consists of a bar and some very cosy tables in what looks like a narrow alley between 2 brick buildings. Service is friendly and helpful. We try to go whenever we are in NYC - it's a great way to pass a evening with friends. Don't look for a sign out front - consult your GPS and follow your nose.

This place is tiny. They have a couple of big tables for parties of 4+ but everyone else sits in pretty cramped spaces against the wall. We were sat next to the kitchen and had to ask to be moved because of all the noise. The wine list is pretty decent and they have enough on the menu to eat, but it ain't cheap. The food is ok, but you're not getting a whole lot. Service is decent, but it kind of has to be in such a small place.

Really nice local tapas bar. Good food and wine, quite authentic and a good price Service was good too not too over the top but helpful

Just finished my 5th visit to Tia Pol, a tiny tapas restaurant on the West side of NYC... I highly recommend this little place! The food is amazing - love the chickpeas, lamb skewers and squid. The team there recommends great wines every time. Make a reservation, as there are not a lot of seats, and try to sit in the front - the back dining room can get very loud from all of the celebrating!

Really terrific dinner. From the kindness of the hostess apologizing for our table not yet ready, to the server with the perfect degree of enthusiasm and knowledge for the specials and menu, to the bottle of wine that magically continued to pour, the service matched the wonderful tapas plates. Divine thin skirt steak, octopus and chorizo skewers and a Spanish noodle dish whose name I am sadly forgetting. Cannot wait to return

We love this restaurant! It's one of our favorite places to have tapas and enjoy a cosy, energetic atmosphere. This time, our main server was Dia. She and her colleagues were excellent. Hopefully, for our next trip to NYC and the US Open, we will arrange another visit to Tia Pol.

Small and flavorless tapas, rough treatment bordering on unpleasant, short menu and poor quality. It's not worth missing a meal there.

WE WERE YELD AT FROM THE MINUTE WE SAID HELLO …Do I need to say anything else!? We left !!! Nasty lady at the bar . Nasty Nasty ! Maybe they think they are the best tapas in town lol. You might have the best food but you have to know how to greed people first, that’s is part of the food experience. Bad feeling we will NEVER EVER even pass by it !

This small, neighborhood tapas restaurant is as good as we've tasted since we were in Barcelona. Our server was very helpful in recommending a series of dishes: just right in size. We opened with a salad of watercress, frisee, and roasted brussel sprouts in a light creamy dressing, and deep fried chickpeas. Great combination. Same was true for our next dishes: each one stood brilliantly by itself, but then one could combine flavors for something entirely different. Our set was fried peppers (like shishito), the evening special casserole of mushrooms, and another special, a shrimp fritter: good, but perhaps not up to the standard of the others. Two desserts, both flavorful and just rich enough, completed a great experience. Service is excellent without being over the top; wine list complements the food nicely at reasonable prices. I'd return in a heartbeat.

Wonderful, from the octopus salad to the seared scallops and lamb skewers...every bite was perfectly prepared and seasoned, just delicious. Adorable, friendly solicitous waiter who was knowledgeable about both the food and the wine, he made us feel welcome and was spot on with his recommendations; warm cosy atmosphere, just perfect perfect perfect. Love.

And that's what happened here. After walking the "high line" we decided it was time to get drink and a little snack. So we happened upon this un-assuming place. It's spanish tapas. We enjoyed the lamb skewers and a pitcher of Sangria. This was early afternoon, so, it was quite empty but the staff was very friendly. We learned that the opening of the high-line brought a little life to the neighborhood and, Tia Pol which had been around for a while. We had an enjoyable hour cooling off and the Sangria hit the spot!

Great place for a light lunch and glass of wine. The space is small but cozy and the staff are friendly and courteous and of course the food is fabulous and well presented. Hidden but within walking distance to the high line and pier 62. Yum!

I visited Tia Pol with my friend, who is form the area. This was my first experience with tapas. We ordered several dishes, and they were all delicious. My favorite was the shrimp in oil. The waiter was excellent and knew just how to let us talk but give great service as well. Very enjoyable. Time and money well spent.

We’ve been there with 4 adults and 2 kids and ordered most of the tapas on the menu. I can safely say most as there was not much left which we’ve did not order. We had a small beer to warm up and red wine with the tapas. Saving time in writing and potential readers in reading, it was just very good. In my case definitely one of the best tapas places outside of Spain. Very nice service together with very good food: You can spend a very nice evening there. Highly recommendable

We found this place in my friend's "Not For Tourists" guidebook and we were so glad we did! I have not had octopus like this since I was in Spain...to die for!! And the fried chick peas were strange but amazing. If you love traditional Spanish cuisine then you must dine at this establishment. Cute and quaint atmosphere; well worth the hike!

Cool interiors (slightly cramped). Great food; the pork sandwich, roasted peppers, and almond cake dessert were all highlights, but everything was good. Service was also friendly and quick.

A great place for a light, informal meal. They have a ton of tasty options and some good wines to select from.

This is a great spot. I try to go every time I am in NYC, which is easier said then done given its size. It is small but lively. We ordered several Tapas plates and a bottle of Spanish wine. The grilled peppers were very tasty as was the Tortilla Espanola. The service was very personable and they made good wine recommendations. If you aren't careful you will walk right by it and you will be missing a great time.

Best Tapas in Manhattan. I can not go a month without stopping by Tia Pol. The atmosphere is the perfect combination of laid back and impressive. I must have tried everything on the menu and love most everything. Their fried chickpeas are perfection. You can do no wrong here expect if you come on a Friday or Saturday night without a reservation. Highly recommend.

We first enjoyed the food and atmosphere at Tia Pol three years ago, and we were interested to see if they had retained that excellence. Cut to the chase: yes! This is still the most authentic tapas we've eaten outside of Spain, and we really appreciate the excellent and friendly service to go with all the great food. Particularly outstanding this time was the ensalada de alcachofa (crispy artichoke/asparagus), and my lamb skewer with Moorish spices.

Spanish-style tapas with authentic ingredients. We had eight (I think) small plates among four of us, plus dessert, and really you couldn't go wrong with any of them. Try the chicken liver pate and whatever is on special.

We made a last minute booking for a Friday night dinner. We arrived a bit early so we had to wait for our table to be ready. No problem, but we weren’t asked if we wanted anything to drink in the mean time. We were seated in the back room, which is a nice spot, although it feels a bit tucked away, we waited for water refills etc quite long. The waiters were really nice though. The food was decent, tasted like proper Spanish food (having been there multiple times) and plenty of different options. The wine is quite expensive but lots of choice. All in all a nice experience.

Amazing tapas and a very friendly server made this one of the best lunches ever. We had potatoes, fried chickpeas ( to die for), chorizo, a mixed salad and serrano ham. Started with beers and ended with great sangria. Tiny place so call ahead. You will not be disappointed!

This smallish tapas restaurant in Chelsea is one that you'll wish was in your neighborhood. With its laid back ambiance, wooden stools at a friendly bar, and small tables, it exudes comfort and coziness - in a good way. The noise level is even Try their terrific gin sangria - you can even order it at the bar on tap. Makes the numerous tapas slide down even better. Service at both the bar and at table were superb - friendly, relaxed and attentive. Food - tasty! Grilled pequillo peppers, anchovies a la plancha, shrimp with garlic, are just a few of the tapas we tried from an extensive list. Recommend this place highly for those whose tired feet have explored the High Line and need drink and sustenance - and for everyone else, too.

we love tapas, and this ones are good tasting tapas but simply too small and too expensive. no value in a very informal place and a very informal service - can't justify price!!

Was recommended to go here and it was OK. Tried the garbanzos which were good - the Bocata De Lomo Adobado was way too much and very filling, the Gambas Al Ajillo was good but the Almejas Al Vino was so salty it was inedible and we had to send it back. In fairness we weren't charged for the dish. The worse thing though was the wait between course. The first four plates arrived pretty fast but the last 2 took over 30 minutes to arrive and one of them was the cockles which we had to send back. Disappointing.

We chose Tia Pol in part for its proximity to our B&B in Chelsea, but more for the tapas that we came to love on a recent trip to Spain. We had made a reservation using Open Table, and it's a good thing that we had, as the restaurant was very busy and we would otherwise have waited. The restaurant is physically tiny, but their use of space is creative, with alcoves that can fit a third person at a very small table. Our waiter was extremely helpful in assisting us in figuring out the number (and choices) of tapas to order for 3 people, as we planned to share everything. I loved the squid in ink with rice, the fried chick peas, the artichoke and white asparagus salad, and the lamb skewers. We had nothing that we wouldn't happily order again. It was definitely reminiscent of Andalucia! We will make a point of returning to Tia Pol when we return to New York city!

I had been looking forward going to this place for a long time, since it gets consistently good reviews. The food is mediocre and overpriced. If the food had been as good as we were expecting it to be, I would have put up with the claustrophobic seating and lack of ventilation. Never mind the canned 80s music. The boquerones seemed to have come straight from a can and we were charged $12 dollars for 5 of them. The Gambas al Ajillo were under seasoned and overcooked, swimming in a pool of what looked like watery soup. The Pimientos estilo Gernika was the closest to the real thing. On a positive note, the service was very welcoming and efficient. For boquerones and the most spectacular Spanish sandwiches, try La Churreria on Mulberry Street.

We were very hungry and decided to try the restaurant out. We didn't order for anything specific but asked the waiter to surprise us. We were served 6 tapas and they were all delicious. The ones that really stuck out were the chicken liver mousse, squid ink with rice, lamb skewers and the sea food salad(a special). It was a bit crowded but the service was equally as good. Definitely one of the best tapas in NYC.

Tapas, small plates, excellent food! We ate here twice during a 5 day trip! The salad with molten egg was exceptional, the potato frittata great and all the other small plates did not disappoint. We ate at the cozy bar and on a lazy, rainy afternoon it was an oasis in the bustle of NYC. Our favorite place to eat in NY!

We found this via TA back in November 2018 when we were in NYC for 4 nights. Cant remember what we ate but we arrived early for our reservation and were blown away by how busy it was. There was no room to sit at the bar so we stood for around 30/45 mins which was fine at the entrance having a drink. We were then shown to our table in the back room which was great. The only issue was the VERY noisy Koreans (about 10 of them) on one of the other tables which made it hard to hear but the food was amazing. We love Tapas and would thoroughly recommend this place.

We went for brunch, but the tapas were much more interesting. We had fava bean purée, deep-fried chick peas, cuttlefish in its ink (they called it squid), pulled chicken. The fried fish nuggets and various anchovy dishes were probably good. The portions are tapas-sized (small), but actually rich and filling. The food was really excellent, flavored carefully to be spicy yet not overwhelming. They all paired well with drinks, but I was not willing to pay top price for a glass of ice cubes with a little something. The service was a bit slow, but friendly. The high tables and stools were beyond uncomfortable, certainly not conducive to lounging over more tapas and beers. It was a cozy space, but I wanted to eat and get out.

My husband and I first discovered Tia Pol a number of years ago when we took our first stroll on the High Line (we actually went twice that first day!). We've been faithful customers ever since. It's the first place in NY that equaled and even surpassed some of the best tapas bars we've visited in Barcelona and other parts of Spain. We took some friends there the other evening and had, as usual, a wonderful time. Our server, Arturo (special shout-out) was fantastic and made great suggestions on wine. This wasn't surprising though as we've always found the staff to be warm, helpful and funny. The atmosphere is funky and cool, and we particularly like eating at the bar when it's just the two of us. It's mostly stool seating but still reasonably comfortable, even at our age! And the food is fabulous. Best patatos bravos ever and the insalata mista is wonderful. We also love the lamb skewers, garlic shrimp and their frequent special of sliced skirt steak over gigantic white beans. Can't recommend the place highly enough. One tip for the owners given how crowded it is: do over the back room. The space just doesn't compete well with the front (the vibe is totally different and detracts from the experience) and it would seem with a relatively small investment, it could be made as funky and with several small tables (that could still be put together for big crowds).

Lovely little restaurant we had been cutting about all day and arrived at Tia Pol tired and a bit early but our waiter was extremely nice and seated us without fuss we ordered wine and several dishes but realised we had outstretched ourself and asked if we could have the wine to go the gave us it in a sealed wine bag I would have loved to have booked this little gem a bit earlier in the day to serve it justice no photos time afraid as I smidgen dark on that occasion

Prepare your taste buds to go on a journey! You will not be disappointed. The menu items will move quickly because everything is prepared fresh. Do not be devastated if something runs out, it just means you'll pick something else and return again. Go. Now.

Dinner with our kids in their 20s and mother in her seventies. Sangria was too sweet--more like juice. Only fruit in it was (mealy) apples. Tapas were mostly good. Liked the mussel special, but could not take advantage of the yummy sauce. Asked for bread, but it was stale-ish. Overall, not good enough to return.

We stumbled upon this place on a cold Sunday night and I am glad we did. The tapas were great, super fresh, and the right portion size. We sat opposite the kitchen at a cozy high top and enjoyed lovely service and watched the chef make our tapas. Perfect date night, and I really recommend the octopus salad, get it.

10th Av in New York has grabbed a small corner of Madrid. Tapas here are numerous, excellent and completely authentic. Sit in front for the Madrid "cerveceria" experience to take the kids in back where they can spread out a little. Tia Pol is quite kid-friendly. This is written on the third time back though I had planned to write the first time. Indeed all three experiences have been friendly, tasty and very like the several years we actually lived in Madrid. It's worth your while to seek the place out. I'm looking forward to visit four and beyond.

The staff is wonderful, the food is really good and reminded me of Barcelona tapas, and the wait staff incredibly friendly without being overbearing. It's a bit uncomfortable at the tables, someone should invest in better seats. Nonetheless, it was packed on a Tuesday night, so what do I know. Great place. You can't go wrong if authentic tapas is your thing.

For a recent girls weekend in NYC, one of the group (local) suggested that we make a reservation here. We were all glad for her suggestion! As other reviewers have mentioned, it is a small space and you may not get in if you don't reserve ahead. We were seated in the table nook - close to the kitchen --- very cozy for our party of 5. Our server was quick, but patient, and gave us lots of attention. One friend spoke Spanish and helped us to navigate the menu. We sampled lots of everything; from the olives, marcona almonds, deviled eggs, and croquetas to various hot dishes. Literally we had about 12 different plates emerge throughout our meal. It was fantastic tapas! Even the quasi-vegetarian enjoyed the flank steak special that we passed around. The chorizo was the only dish that did not get rave reviews. Seriously, it was all delicious. My favorite was the fava bean puree on toasts - it was heavenly light and so tasty! During our meal we enjoyed a pitcher of Sangria -- obviously made right there and allowed the time to rest, marrying the brandy and wine with the fruit. And we had two bottles of the wine in the picture. (It was so good I needed a picture to remember to find it at home!) We did not linger over dessert as we had tickets to a show that evening, but we were all glad for a delicious meal in Chelsea. This place is not your run-of-the-mill pre-theatre dinner - it's way better and worth the trip!

Incredible evening, group of friends from Maryland, in NYC for the U.S. Open. We couldn't have been more fortunate to find a restaurant like Tia Pol. Delicious tapas, great ambiance. Our waitress made some excellent recommendations with the food and the wine. Cheers and Cheer Up!

I've been here 2x. Once on a date night with my husband. We sat in the charming back room and had a delightful meal and some great wine. The waitress was very nice. The back room is small with communal tables, which is not my favorite. But we hardly noticed it at all. I was there today for lunch with a girlfriend and sat up front by the bar. Again, another tasty tapas meal and a helpful server who made some great recommendations. We really liked the gambas al ajillo, piquillos rellenos de pisto and the croquette of the day which was spinach and machengo cheese (I think) and it was DELICIOUS.

The food and drinks at Tia Pol were incredible. It seemed like every dish we ordered got better and better. Our server (Traver) was attentive, courteous, and provided great suggestions for us. It’s hard to pick a favorite dish because we loved all of them. We will definitely be back in the future.

My boyfriend and I came here over the past Easter weekend and had some of the most delicious dishes here. Small cozy little restaurant (good thing we might reservations!), but we got seated quickly and service was great. It was my first time to a tapa bar so the server (who, of course is Spanish and is also well-versed in the menu) was very good in explaining all the various dishes to me. We ordered 5-6 tapa dishes (i highly recommend the squid ink rice, the ham wrapped around cheese and the scallop special, which they had that day but u may be lucky and they have it when you're there). We also had really good wine there (based on a recommendation by the server), so all in all, very happy. For 2 ppl w/ 5 dishes plus dessert (we had almond cake...good for sharing b/c cake was super dense) and a bottle of wine, came to abt $150. Happy tapa-eating!

It is really hard to get authentic Spanish food in Milwaukee, so one night our plan was to hop between 3 tapas places and compare. We started at Tia Pol and if we would have known the quality of the others, we would have just stayed there all night. Everything was EXCELLENT. The tortilla was amazing, perfectly authentic. The bottles of spanish cider were the closest we've tasted to something you'd get in a bar in San Sebastian. The atmosphere was great too; a small, dark, crowded space with lots of pairs and groups sharing food and laughs. I honestly wish I could have gone there every day of our trip!

I found Tia Pol back in 2014 from the Not For Tourists (NFT) guide for New York, and I go back here every singe time I’m in New York for business. If you are a fan of Spanish Tapas, then Tia Pol is for you. The artichoke salad, patatas bravas, and the chorizo are the top 3 for me. It is a small restaurant, so plan to wait on busy nights, but the staff are great about getting you in. The wine selection is excellent as well. Also, the neighborhood is quiet, and close to the High Line.

I went for lunch and my experience was that it was not the right place to do so, since it's more like a bar than a restaurant. However, I must say that tapas were very good and have a nice selection of wines. The service is friendly and efficient. Seating is not very comfortable, since there are all high tables with stools. As I mentioned before, it's more bar-like than restaurant. Keeping that in mind, it is a very good place to try very good Spanish little dishes while having some wine or drinks.

Tia Pol is one of my favorite NYC restaurants. Great tapas menu with a nice selection of wines. Menu items like deviled eggs turn out to be more delicious than one would expect. Menu standards like the burned peppers and patatas bravas are simple and fantastic. There are also daily specials which are usually delicious. The only thing I've had there that wasn't great were the fried bait fish. Unless you really love the taste of the sea, you might want to avoid the bait fish. The only problem is getting a seat. This popular Chelsea restaurant fills up quickly and there is frequently a considerable wait for a table. There is even a wait list for seats at the bar.

The food here is absolutely amazing. My favourite restaurant out of the ones we visited while in NYC. It's located in Chelsea, a small little place that you can easily miss if you're not looking for it. The ambience is great with low lighting and candles. We recently visited Barcelona and I can say that the food at Tia Pol is comparable to that of Spain! We started off with devilled eggs with paprika which were delicious. Then we had the chicken liver mousse - yummy. We ordered the octopus salad which was scrumptious. Our favourite was the cuttlefish with octopus inked rice - delicious! We also ordered the other special, bone marrow marinated in lamb sauce. To finish off one of the best meal that I've ever eaten, we had their desserts. Poached pear was delicious. Drunken cherries with the fried custard is MUST-have!! If you come to NYC, you really need to reserve a table at Tia Pol. And for all of this, one of the cheapest meals that we've had in NYC - great value for monies and excellent service.

Return visit to this great little place for tapas. The staff is friendly, efficient and great to deal with. The food is really good and the atmosphere is enjoyable. Highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner, business or date night.

I am a huge Tapas fan. I also once stumbled upon Tia Pol, which looks like a hole in the wall but is MUCH, MUCH more. My love affair with Tia Pol began two summers ago when my nephew and I grabbed a meal before heading to a Mets game. He and I have discerning palates and we were both very pleased. Two favorites dishes of mine are the peppers with sea salt (caliente) and the squid in ink with rice. However, everything I have tried has been great, from olives to crispy fish to salads. The service had always been phenomenal, both at lunch and dinnertime. The atmosphere is cozy--it's small--but friendly and not too loud. I recently had a meal at the bar and it didn't disappoint. I am a tapas fan and Tia Pol speaks to me and to my stomach!

I love the food at this place. Not always easy to snag a seat as it is on the tiny side (and often packed so one is lucky even to be able to get near the bar or to find somewhere to maintain a decent space while waiting for a table). One perches atop a high stool (decent rungs available to rest feet) at a small table (almost of equal surface to the stools). However, the food is so delicious. Still run by the same two women (one originally from New Orleans?) who opened it and they just know how to do it right. When last there, enjoyed deviled eggs (something subtle but definitely different thrown into the mix to make them distinctly theirs), shrimp fritters, squid in ink with rice, and those DEVINE roasted peppers, and accompanied by a very nice bottle of Albarino. Great place to go when doing the gallery scene in Chelsea, but be warned... Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at the wrong time and you won't even be able to get in the door...

Everything I tried was excellent. Potato and onion omelet, croquettes, cockles. Excellent for a light legal, with cava.

Tia Pol is our favorite tapas place in New York. We come here often and we always love it. The food is excellent and the place is great! I cannot stop recommending the papas bravas - they might be the best version of the dish in the whole world!

It's odd that in a city like NY there aren't more good tapas restaurants but sadly that is the case. As a huge fan of Spanish tapas I've tried probably a dozen or more restaurants in NY and they all pale in comparison to Tia Pol. The food here is excellent, great balance in the dishes and a nice mix of traditional tapas-fare like roasted peppers and potatas bravas and more modern interpretations (for example, the delicious lamb skewers). The staff were all friendly and helpful and attentive and we had a very nice meal. I'd give it 5/5 solely for the food but it is kind of a tiny space and the seating is not the most comfortable, the prices are a little high too, even for Manhattan but I'd rather pay a little more for great food than save a buck on mediocre food. Definitely give this pace a try though I recommend coming either for an early meal or a late meal (9PM) because there is limited seating and it fills up fast

Having just returned from Barcelona, we have gone on a tapas binge. This is the best tapas place we have tried in NYC. The croquetas, gambas al ajillo, pan con tomate and garbanzos fritos were all excellent. To top it all we had leche frita for dessert. Highly recommended.

"While dining one night in a little country town / A stranger came in and he chanced to set down." That stranger happened to be the sommelier, and while chatting about this and that, I happened to deplore the disappearance of sherry from restaurant menus in said town. His eyes lit up and he said pointedly, as he rose, "Tía Pol!" So there I went a week or so later, with a friend. I spotted about a dozen sherries by the glass on the menu. We started with manzanillas and finos and ended up finishing with olorosas and pedro ximénezes (sp?) with dessert, regrettably skipping the amontillados and the palo cortado. All this was accompanied by some fine tapas: bocharones with olives; artichoke salad; octopus; skirt steak; croquettes; and for dessert, a poached pear and an almond cake. Several of the above (wines and dishes) were suggested by the helpful wait staff. I will be back to continue to work my way through the sherry list -- and the tapas list. As we were leaving, the lovely smell of roasting peppers filled the air. Gotta try that one. You'll have figured out by now that everything was very good indeed, and that the little country town was the tiny isle of Manhattan.

After a 5 day trip in NYC and eating out every meal, Tia Pol was my absolute favorite restaurant. Per a recommendation from a friend, we had a group dinner in the private back room for 13 friends who finished the NYC marathon. Every one of the 7 dishes we ordered was amazing. The attentive service was excellent. My top tapas picks are: 1) croquetas de jamon, 2) bocata de lomo abobado, 3) pinchos morunos and 4) patatas bravas. It is a tiny place, so make sure to get a reservation. Don't miss this fantastic find.

Went with a large party (we had a reservation, thank god), and ate until we thought we were going to explode. The food is delicious. It's pretty mid-range on the spiciness. I could have tolerated a lot more heat, but some of my companions can't handle much at all and it was a good compromise. I'm a huge fan of tapas places because I love variety in my meals and it gives people a chance to talk to each other if they are part of a group where not everyone knows everyone else. We tried a little of everything, but one of my fellow diners ordered something I didn't see on the menu (I could have missed it, though...three sangrias in when he flagged down a waiter). It was the pepper roulette and it was delicious. It's small and doesn't seat many people and the space it tight, but it's worth it.

This place was unexpectedly (after reading the good reviews) bad. The seating (stools) were really uncomfortable, but I can deal with that if the food is extraordinary. That wasn't the case here. Of the 6 items we ordered, only the lamb and peppers was good. Everything else falls under the worst Tapas I've had in NY city. Really disappointed. Our server was really good though, but doesn't make up for the below par food.

love this place. have been a few times with friends and always have a great time here. this place is typical of tapas bars in espana - small, crowded, great food, and always lively (even on a Monday night!). the patatas bravas, shrimp, croquetas are all excellent. also had a fried sweet breads tapas special that was awesome. they even serve me calimocho here! and they have porons which are fun with a group - the back room is great if you have a larger group or want to reserve for private room. also the chorizo al jerez is excellent - brings me back to the tabernas de madrid or san sebastian. Meryl provided great recs on wine and tapas. only suggestion would be to add a bit more decorations/photos from espana on walls. highly recommend for drinks and a few tapas any night of week or late night food. dont recommend with more than 4 ppl unless you reserve back room though.

The Cava is a great drink to start with if you are going for tapas. My friend lives in the neighborhood, so she goes there often and she recommended the crispy artichoke and asparagus salad for $13 to start, and it was much tastier than it looks; the crisp artichoke added a nice earthy texture to the tender romaine and white asparagus, and the lemon vinaigrette perfectly dressed the salad. One person could easily make a meal of this if they weren't very hungry. Since I love anchovies, I got two of the olive, pepper, and anchovy skewers for $2 each, and they were so good, I forgot to take a photo before eating one! The lamb skewers with Moorish spices at $7 for two were perfect little bites of flavorful meat. The crispy marinated fish with lemon for $12 was a bigger plate and we were very happy splitting the plate that would've been too much with all the other plates we had ordered. She wanted the patatas bravas for $8 with a spicy aioli, and I took a bite just for research:) The classic flan for $6 was a smooth sweet way to end the night.

Finally made it here with a friend a few weeks ago for dinner. We were seated quickly & service was friendly right off the bat. The menu choices are a mix of some of the standard found on most tapas menus, & some dishes a little less frequently seen/new to my eyes on a menu. I found the dishes a bit heavier & a bit saltier than many other tapas joints I've been to, and despite the small portions we barely finished 3 dishes, while I'd normally scarf down 6 or so with another person. Food was great, just much heavier than I'd expected!

This is our go to tapas restaurant in our neighborhood. Always recommend the Fideua @$20.00 excellent dish and always interesting. Bottle of Ostatu @$50.00, very good wine! Gambas Ajillo @$13.00, Lg Croq Jamon @$8.00 are all very good. Waitstaff are always friendly and spot on with their suggestions.

Great Spanish tapas in a cozy neighborhood place. The artichoke procuitto manchego toasts were delish also excellent were the shrimp and croquettes!

Lovely small intimate restaurant! Food was excellent portions are small but you can enjoy a variety. The staff are friendly and are well educated to the menu and allergies. We had wonderful wine and good price. The goat cheese flan was an excellent choice for a GF dessert!

We went there for a Sunday lunch so there were no crowds -- only outstanding food and a pleasant kind of quirky staff. All four of the dishes we ordered were excellent and two of the four were copious! Very nice wine selection as well. Okay, it's not going to win any awards for decor, but these were top quality dishes. Not cheap but worth it!

We ordered the salad with fried artichokes, shrimp, squid (my favorite), jamon, anchovies, and sardines. Every single dish was good. The wine list is also very good. I can't wait to go back there.

Excellent assortment of authentic Spanish tapas and wines in an atmosphere much like the cozy tapas bars in the Plaza de Santa Ana in the heart of Madrid. Friendly and efficient service too.

Wonderful flavors, delightful and imaginative dishes. Definitely took us back to Spain. Tia Pol is in a small space that added to the great atmosphere. Friendly and prompt service.

Wonderful Spanish restaurant with authentic dishes. Great service excellent ingredients and fabulous, cozy atmosphere! Make sure you make a reservation because this place is booming!

Had the artichoke salad, lamb skewers and ham sadwich. All were good but a bit salty. Next time I will ask them to go light on the salt.

If you've read the glowing reviews or if by chance find yourself outside Tia Pol 205 10th Ave, do yourself and your bank account a favour and walk on by. What a miserable dining experience this place is. The restaurant opens directly onto the street. We found our way to the tables via a long bar filled with people who seemed to have been there all afternoon judging by their condition and noise they were making. The table area is small, dark and pokey with no air con. I know Tapas is supposed to have small dishes but this place is brazenly rinses you. For example Gildas - six small thin slices of Anchovy with a drizzle of olive oil and an olive or 2 - $12....plus tax! I was so shocked I can't remember if it came with pickle or not. This is not a place to sit and relax with a loved one. Service is quick and indifferent, the seating is hard and uncomfortable and the place is loud and airless. The food is average and for the quality is expensive. Still hungry and our bank accounts considerably lighter we had to go somewhere else to eat afterwards!

With three Basque restaurants in Chelsea, Tia Pol is generally our go-to when the other two (Txkito and El Quinto Pino) are full. While good, this stays a #3 on our list because of the indifferent service and that little closet of a dining room in the back, which we always seem to be relegated to. The food is acceptable, however their specials they offer to guests only when they feel like doing so, it seems. We weren't offered any for dinner this time, but the couple which say (right up next to us) in that little dining room were offered ones which sounded pretty good. I asked why and was given some lame excuse about them "not being ready" or something in the 10 minutes we were there. Several items on the menu were sold out early on a Saturday night - which was a bit disappointing.

I've eaten here twice in the past year - it's a true find in Manhattan. First, it's very high quality food with value...not overpriced...if you choose their excellent sangria as the drink of choice for the table, you will truly have a rarity in NYC - a high-calibre reasonably priced meal. In addition, a big plus for me...it doesn't get crazy loud. In other words, you can actually have a conversation over dinner - what a concept. This is good place to bring a vegetarian as well as there are multiple veggie options. The restaurant in the Chelsea neighbourhood so you could easily pop into a few art galleries before heading into dinner. There is a small bar area in front where you could eat, plus a nice room in the back for larger tables. Very helpful servers make solid recommendations too.

Have been to Spain a number of times, I do so miss the wonderful, informal tapas paces. Well not any more. This is not American style tapas, this is real tapas. Fresh and well prepared. The wine list is quite good and reasonable and to wash the tapas down with a good Spanish tinto is pure heaven.

I reserved this restaurant for my 54th Birthday for 10 guests. Tia Pol has a set menu for parties of 10 or more we opted to order from the standard menu which was not a problem for the restaurant. The reservation itself was early, 5:45pm, because we had a show to catch at 8pm. I would suggest booking at least 2 to 3 weeks prior if you are looking to eat prime time with 8 or more guests. The Tapas were amazing, first start with either salad Ensalada Mixta or Alcachofa, the Chorizo al Jerez (Spanish Sausage) cooked with Sherry and Rosemary to aperfection, Croquetas de Jamón y Croqueta del día (Ham croquettes) melted in your mouth, Pinchos Morunos (Lamb skewers with Moorish spices) had to order 4 of these, Txipirones en su tinta (Squid in ink with rice) tried this for the 1st time and did not regret it, Gambas al Ajillo (Shrimp in olive oil with garlic and chili) good but, one order was overcooked, which is easy to do with Shrimp, bur two orders were great. Then came the Frios, Tortilla Española (traditional Spanish omelet with potatoes) I've have had this in Spain and South America and it ranks up with the best, Huevos Rellenos al pimentón de la vera (Deviled Eggs with smoked paprika) not your typical but better, Pan con Tomate y tres Salsas (grilled and garlic-rubbed baguette with tomato and three sauces) changes how you would serve any bread and lastly, the Sangria, and wine options were great and not overpriced and a beer list that would satisfy beer drinkers like me.

This place has limited seating and a nice, casual atmosphere. Bar area as well. Our waiter, Keith, was great. Attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. (i.e. He suggested a nice wine.) My husband and I split 4 tapas and two desserts. The roasted fig toast with ham and goat cheese was amazing. (This was a special.) After that, our favorite was the almond cake with vanilla ice cream. Out of this world. The cockles were very petite and delicious in a great broth. The lamb meatballs and lamb skewers did not disappoint. The drunken fig dessert was unique. Check this place out. You won't be disappointed.

I was not excited about going to this restaurant, but my boss made the reservation and dragged me along. I'm so happy I went, because it was delicious! Probably some of the best tapas I've ever had. We shared several dishes and everything was amazing. The ensalada de alcachofa is to die for! I could eat that every day. My boss had the lamb, and it was so good, he ordered another one. Our server was so nice and helped us pick out wines and beer and gave us recommendations on the food. I would definitely go here again and recommend this place to friends.

This was the first of several nights in NYC and it started off well. We hit Tia Pol hoping to get a table before our show. They were quite busy but the hostess worked very hard to get us a table as fast as possible and our waitress hurried things so we got to the show on time. The food and sangria were wonderful. Its a small place but a great vibe. What a great way to start our trip.

On my most recent trip to NYC I once again made time to get to Tia Pol. I like to sit at the bar and chat with the locals and travellers who make their way to this little gem, and was once again not disappointed. Their potatoes are some of the best that I have ever had, and their house made chorizo is outstanding. They do a great job as well of Sangria. Always lovely to stop there for a couple of hours on an afternoon and catch your breath.

My husband and I stumbled upon this gem a few years back and it's out go to place whenever we are in the city. Last night we had the most amazing gazpacho that was savory and creamy without the use of anything but bread to create to thicken and impart a velvety mouthfeel. The mussels with chorizo and hot peppers( in some sauce that I can't remember but we needed a plate of bread to finish it off:) were plump and delicious! Lamb skewers- artichoke and white asparagus salad....and then for dessert ( yes really) we had the chicken liver mouse that is the most decadent - I can't even describe it you must try it! The wait staff is amazing - we tried a wine that we had no idea what it was - and my husband is in the wine trade)! And tasted our waiter on it! So memorable

On the advise of a friend, we made reservations a week before we arrived in NY. There are so many fabulous eateries in New York; we were curious as to how we would enjoy this little cafe. I would say Tia Pol is a must for anyone who might enjoy extraordinary tapas in a casual, funky atmosphere. Our family of five managed to taste our way through a good portion of the menu; the ensalada de polpo (octopus) was tender and flavourful; the pimientos estilos - roasted green peppers with sea salt were scrumptous, the prawns were tasty, the lamb skewers, ham croquettes .....everything was unique and delicious. The sangria was the best we had tasted and there was a fine selection of wines as well. Our waiter was engaging without being overly friendly; had a wickedly dry sense of humour; was informative and very helpful in directing our dining experience. We enjoyed the evening so much, we dropped in our last night in town.... to find a full house and no tables available. Do make a reservation - or go early.....you will be telling your friends back home about the great foody experience you enjoyed in the Big Apple!

We had a party of 6 and the food was great. I like sharing little portions so you can eat a little or a lot depending on your appetite . We had plenty of food, two bottles of wine and it didn't break the bank. Seating is a little cramped but the service was great.

Best sangria! Excellent service! All food perfectly prepared and beautifully presented, particularly loved the artichoke salad, shrimp tapas, trout tapas and outstanding flan. Cool little spot, really enjoyed our visit, will definitely go back!

We enjoyed the tapas very much. Favorites were papatas bravas, croquettes, chicken liver mousse and squid in ink the waiter was helpful with the choices. The restaurant is small as are the tables.

Prob best tapas I have has in NYC. Space is small! And loud so not a romantic spot. Great for drinks and fun food with friends!

Super cool tapas bar in Chelsea. Has a great neighbourhood vibe. Service was excellent and fast. Menu is a solid tapas menu. Least favourite item was the patatas braves. Croquettes were outstanding!

This is a lovely little tapas restaurant to stop at when you want a satisfying dining experience. The restaurant is spotless, with varied styles of seating available plus a view of a huge artistic mural on the building across the street. The food is excellent -- you will enjoy both the food and the ambience.

A good choice of Tapas in a relaxed, not very comfortable environment. Very authentic Spanish like assortment, well prepared. Wine selection from Spain is OK.

What a great night. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was wonderful. Great Tapas. The selection of hot and cold items is great. One item was better than the next. We loved the Lamb skewers, the croquettes, tortilla, fried chick peas and more!

I had been walking on the Highline and ran across Tia Pol when I returned to street level. It was a real find. The waiting line was long, even at 5:30 pm (but it was a beautiful warm spring Saturday evening and I suspect that everyone in New York was outdoors). I found a seat at the bar, however, so didn't need to wait. The bartender was a real pro--he knew his wines and also knew the food. I had a wonderful salad of fried artichokes and white asparagus--the artichokes pieces were almost crispy and gave a meaty flavor to the salad. My one complaint was that the white asparagus was overcooked to the point of being mushy, but the flavor remained good. This salad was generous and would have been enough for a light meal for one person, certainly plenty to share. I followed with the trout and serrano ham which was tasty but not in the same league with the salad. Nice wine selections by the glass. I then walked up to Eataly for a gelato for dessert.

We searched out this restaurant, based on TripAdvisor reviews, for an early dinner after a walk on the High Line. It doesn't look like much from the outside but we had the room at the back to ourselves, friendly and knowledgeable service, and terrific tapas with reasonably priced wine by the glass that went very well with the food. We had the scallop special, potatoes, fried fish and spicy shrimp. All were delivered piping hot. We would absolutely return on another visit to New York.

We had a great dinner at Tia Pol. The server was very helpful, his recommendation of how much to order was spot on. The skewers of lamb and the trout with proscuitto were fantastic, it was wonderful to eat a delicate white trout rather than the usual fatty pink salmon trout. The tapas were served in an appropriate sequence of cold/vegetable, then delicate fish, then the more strongly flavoured meat dishes. The specials of the day are a bit expensive, but they are also much larger, so if price matters ask for the price of the specials. Would go back for sure.

Tia pol is one of my go to spots in West Chelsea. Solid Spanish tapas. There squid ink rice is good though a bit salty. I like the shishito peppers. They have a nice wine selection too. It's a bit cosy and I suggest reservations. But a nice date spot.

Excellent tapas selection (especially the peppers), nice wines and very pleasant service. Though this wasn't the easiest location to find, it was well worth it! Then off to the Highline.

some unique tapas dishes, including rice with squid ink. the wine selection is good, and the waiter provided a solid recommendation. we sat in the back room, which gets kind of noisy as the room is not that large. but we had a late dinner so we were one of the last groups in the restaurant by which time is was quiet and nice atmosphere.

Authentic Spanish fare, with very good fried eggs, ham, and peas dish. The Tortilla Espanola is one of the best in the city with perfect subtle flavor and consistency. Worth visiting for a glass of red and some tapas.

Another great afternoon of tapas and drinks. Great small dishes and homemade sangria. Happy hour starts at 3. We spent about 4 hours here beginning at 12. Leonora, the waitress, who we've been lucky enough to have both times is so sweet and attentive. Bar got busy by the time we left around 4-5pm. Tiny place with fabulous food. You will not be disappointed!

Nice little space. Much quieter then most. Tasty food, pretty presentation. Good service. I can definitely recommend this restaurant to locals and visitors alike.

So I've been bringing friends and family to Tia Pol for lunch for at least the last 3 years and I gotta say I've never had an experience that was anything less than Excellent. It's a VERY small place out on the west side just north of the west village and truth be told other than the Highline Park there's really not much else around there at least from what I've seen at a glance. Yet despite that, this place truly is excellent, the marcona almonds, the lamb skewers, the pork sandwich, the fried fish, the chorizo, it's all excellent. I realize that this review is hardly in depth, but the truth is that this is one of those places where in all honesty all I can say is that it's excellent. However as I am actively trying to have as complete of a review as possible, I should give two warnings, while small plates are cheap, they add up quickly so keep the price in mind, and secondly, for some unknown reason they took the chorizo and chocolate off the menu (trust me it was the most amazing dish I've ever tried, even the waiters have recently been asking them to put it back)

I loved the atmosphere and service along with very delicious dishes- asparagus, cuttle fish black ink rice and artichoke salad.

I walked into this place, looking forward to an afternoon of tapas and Cava. I expected a very pleasant time but was greeted by a very nasty "lady" upon entry. I arrived and was IMMEDIATELY told that the bar was the only place for Happy Hour...the nuance was "Don't even think of sitting at a table in the EMPTY place." It was BEFORE dinner time and it was clear there would be no exceptions. After her thought, when my woman friend arrived, she threw me a bone, and said I could sit at a front table. Maybe she was "concerned" about giving two gay men a table. Of course, as I do with all dumps, I left wishing her a very happy hour! My displeasure with this "lady wasn't that I couldn't sit at a table during the $2.00 discounted happy hour, rather her nasty, unwelcoming manner. For a "tapas" bar that supposedly had its nascency in the travels through ALL OF SPAIN, it was clear to me the two "ladies" learned nothing from their travels on how Spanish treat tapas patrons. I will make sure I don't recommend this place to any New Yorker. Shame, "LADY"!!!

I am admittedly not a tapas fan. I often feel like you get tiny portions for too much money. If the food, though, is outstanding, that can compensate. I am sorry to say that was not my experience at Tia Pol. Even though we were there only 3 days ago I am having a hard time remembering what we ate. There was an octopus salad, fried calamari, rice with squid ink, some ham and salami and fried potatoes with a sauce. None of the dishes made me want to rush back. Some, like the calamari were tiny portions. We wanted a bottle of red rioja, and the least expensive was $48. Maybe that is the going rate in Manhattan. But the real downer was the service. We had a reservation but were left cooling our heels for 20 minutes outside and the hostess told us they were clearing the table, when that obviously was not the case. I'd rather be told the truth than some briefly reassuring lie. We ordered a second dish of the rice with squid ink and it never arrived. When we said that we would cancel that order, the hostess came by to say they were "plating it." Really? How long does that take? Her credibility was already in doubt. And the noise level was very high even though we were in a room at the back with only 2 tables. The acoustics were bad. So, not a winner in my book.

I thought the stools we were on were uncomfortable. It was expensive and the food in most cases lacked imagination. A goat cheese and beet salad was a mountain of greens with a few small pieces of goat cheese and just a few beets. the fried artichoke salad had the same imbalance. the quality of the chorizo was not good enough for it to stand alone. the bowl of poor quality tiny shrimp was uninteresting, the potato omelete was bland. I did enjoy the lamb skewers and the skirt steak special. the last whine I have was that we were served 7 of the nine dishes we ordered in about half an hour and the last two in the next half hour. This is not a great tapas place.

Firstly, WOW! We wanted to eat somewhere nice on our final night in NYC..and i had read some good reviews on Trip Advisor. We went early midweek, about 5.30-6pm and were pleased to get seated without issue. All of the staff were very friendly and knew the menu inside out. The food was fantastic and the staff were attentive and seemed genuinely friendly towards us. We ate and drank like kings and were treated very well by all. If you fancy eating modern Spanish tapas in NYC, you cant go wrong here. The restaurant itself is quite small but that adds to the intimate atmosphere and the exposed brickwork and aluminium encased open kitchen add a modern, contemporary feel to the place.

We came here because this restaurant was very close to the Gotham Comedy Club where we were seeing a show at 7:30pm. On the phone the hostess said that if we got there before 6pm, no problem, we could get a table. Well, the place was packed, and we were just lucky to get a spot. Hard to find, as there is only a small sandwich board outside. Inside: wall to wall people at a bar and very small tables. Stools are incredibly uncomfortable... but the food is out of this world. Incredible, authentic tapas, coming out of a tiny kitchen. Great variety on the menu, and every dish a winner. Nice Spanish and local beer and wine menu. Sangria is very strong! It's got gin in it, so be careful. You could fall off that stool! Knowledgeable, attentive wait staff. Great, fun meal!

Small tucked away jewel on 10th Ave in Chelsea area just next to High Line. Sit at the bar and enjoy. Good selection of tapas. Very good Spanish wines and awesome desert specials. Limited menu but more than enough to keep you happy. Small room in back for larger groups. Not a fancy place. More like a neighborhood sidewalk cafe in Spain or Italy.

We had lunch tapas at Tia Pol. It was delicious and their Red Sangria was thirst quenching on a hot October(!) day.

We stumbled upon this tiny spot late Sunday afternoon and enjoyed it thoroughly, although the tab can run up unnoticed, as if often true with tappas. Russel the bartender is a gem. He performs with passion, especially loving the various Sherries on the wine list, and he was kind to offer me a sample, which I ordered after finishing my glass of delicious Cava. Some of the tapas are a better value than others, which are on the skimpy side, but all that we tried were delicious (lamb skewers, garlic bread with dips, chorizo, olives, pork bagette). The clientelle is a mix of locals, tourists from Spain, and wanna be New Yorkers like us, from New Jersey.

Delicious food. Tried at least a dozen different tapas with our party of 6. Everything was delicious. Try the specials too! Fantastic service. Great Spanish wines. My favorite: the chorizo!

While visiting New York our friends took us to Tia Pol. It is a cozy place to have a nice Spanish Tapas meal and visit with friends. The food was authentic and delicious plus they allowed us to stay at our table and visit without feeling rushed.

Really loved the tapas here, my favorite was the patatas bravas, the best I think I've ever had with mayo was divine!! We also ordered the mussels which were delectable and loved loved the sauce it came with that had chorizo. The shrimp was the only dish I didn't love that we ordered - the sauce was bland and watery and the shrimp didn't have any flavor.
Very good Spanish Tapas
Nice place and nice atmosphere although more light for reading the menu would be appreciated. Food was very good and I would strongly recommend it. As I was by myself I was not able to taste too many tapas but the ones I did were very good.
