Massive servings, plenty of space, helpful staff. We had breakfast here one day and it was definitely filling and just as good as other nearby diners Eggs Benedict on crab cakes was a hit (it came with half a plate of hash brown!) Coffee was good and prices were a bit higher than nearby but the food was better.

Tick Tock was right around the corner from our hotel so became our default place to go when we didn't want to venture far. We had a variety of things including milkshakes (rated highly by my husband), blueberry pancakes (light fluffy and delicious), Philly cheese steak ( we are not officianados of these but my son loved his). The great thing was that there were a variety of things that my vegetarian daughter could eat which made it a good option. She really enjoyed her Greek salad. It's not fussy the service was always good and it's right near Madison Square Garden.

We were staying at the Pension. The super convenient restaurant because open 24 hours a day. Nice and professional staff. The dishes are generous and the Award goes with it. A Trip Tip share the dishes and even breakfast because with 2 plates 4 people eat. Good value for Award and quantity. For new york it's okay

Visited for breakfast twice on our trip, extensive menu, food was lovely and cooked fresh. Service was friendly and quick.

Very fast service, good variety of breakfast options. I ate here two days running. Try the lox! Booths are a bit snug and I am not a big guy. Good value for NY

We were staying in the New Yorker Hotel for 4 days in June 2023, 2 teenagers and 2 adults, we had lots of meals here, breakfast, lunch and dinner and it did not disappoint. Staff were lovely as was the food. Really good menu and lots of choice.

We made this our first stop after arriving at Penn Station from our flight to Newark. We were seated right away. The food was fine and reasonably priced. The service was fast and good. I would come here again if I was looking for a diner-type of meal.

For an authentic American diner experience, it was good! Food was what was expected, tasty enough and certainly filling. Staff were friendly and attentive. But as with most of New York, very expensive for basically fast food on a plate!

The ceiling dripped on our table. The food was ok. My pancakes were great. Bacon not so great. Service was fine. When we got the bill our waitress made it clear that we should not add the tip to the card, but rather tip in cash. Seemed odd, but we obliged. Unfortunately, we are not cash people, so her tip was a little lower than what it would have been had we been able to add it to the card.

My card was hacked, I have several different charges to my account I noticed it when I returned home and notified the restaurant They have never refunded my charges yet.

Day 1- went for breakfast the maple syrup that came with the pancakes had a congealed skin over the top and a hair sticking out of it. The cup was dirty. Day 2- gave the diner the benefit of the doubt as attached to our hotel. I had Eggs Benedict. The meat was full of gristle and the potatoes greasy. I felt sick and could not finish. I refused to return.

Really liked the venue itself and our server (Louis) was great (even recommending a broadway show). However, the food was fairly disappointing (Omelette). Would try again and go for another dish next time.

Service was great, waiter was friendly, chatty and attentive. I had the avocado eggs, was gorgeous. Plenty of seats, somewhere great to sit and relax, people watch. Will definitely go back for another meal whilst we are here

Been coming here for years, used to love it but last week had my bill thrown at me with my tip and told I hadn't given enough of a tip. I felt 15% of the bill was sufficient especially when service given was mediocre. I wont be back, I have never been treated like this in a restaurant, certainly wouldn't be tolerated in UK

We came here at beginning of July our server was Mike who was very good. On our daughters 18th birthday whilst we were there he bought over a slice of Oreo cake with a candle and the restaurant which was busy sang happy birthday which was a very nice gesture and made her smile. The food was nice and filling and kept us full until 5pm also we were able to have a second coffee and tea to take away. We enjoyed coming to this diner and used it for the 5 mornings of our trip we would recommend it. Thank you.

We are staying at the New Yorker hotel, next door. Tired after a long flight, we popped in for dinner. My Juicy Lucy burger was OK but a bit bland. My companion's Turkey burger was tasty.

We were eating here in April 2024. Diner very close to Madison with good food and service. We had 2 wraps, 1 sandwich, 1 pizza and 4 drinks for $113

Thanks guys for an a great brunch! The servers were so attentive and friendly. The food was great! We’ll be back. I got French toast and Nutella with eggs. Jose our server filled our coffee non stop and was great. A new go to!

Good portion sizes, nothing extra special to any other diner but then again we didnt eat much. Had a ceaser salad which was nice and a good size to fill me up! Wings were nice and ordered from appetisers but portion size was like a main meal in the UK.

Food here is average, service is very good, breakfast offers gluten free pancakes which are very nice but it would be nice to have a savoury option also gluten free. Not much on the menu if your gluten free, expensive enough for breakfast. Nice decor and handy if staying in New Yorker hotel. If breakfast is included with hotel beware its only coffee and toast or croissant. Not at all substantial.

The diner is directly connected to the adjacent New Yorker Hotel (where we were staying at the time). The seating was slightly less comfortable than most, but certainly not bad. The server was not overly friendly or attentive. This didn't bother us; but might concern other diners. The food was brought fairly quickly and tasted good. The prices were about what we expected for the area. Overall a decent experience.

Brilliant food as always We returned here after two years and it did not disappoint 👏 Located centrally just opposite Penn Station 🚉

We had various food from here during our stay and it was all great. Waffles and pancakes were huge, veggie burgers tasty and the salads were delicious. Service was efficient, and the guy clearing the tables was an absolute pro, never seen anyone clear multiple tables so quickly!

Save your money this place is totally disgusting. The food greasy and tasteless. The service from the staff is disgraceful. Rude standing over us left 90% of our food never asked what was wrong, had a cheek to expect a tip. Over priced disgusting food. Rather have went to a local trash can and got something better to eat. Stay well away from this place.

Had breakfast here a couple of times whilst staying at the New Yorker. This place is a New York institution with a traditional diner set up and menu. The food, I found, fine but nothing more- the Monte Cristo (they're signature) was a let down- really soggy and the fruit wasn't fresh. Other items were better. Service- again, OK. Not rude, not friendly but fast and efficient. Price wise, NYC prices I suppose but it's not great value.

Love visiting here each trip to NY. Food very good & restaurant comfy and clean. Wasn’t too keen on being heavily encouraged to leave a cash tip rather than on my card so service wasn’t as great as past visits. Would still return though

food bill came to almost 60 dollars ,then told i had to pay another % charge ontop which was another 14 dollars . NEVER WILL I GO BACK

Stopped here for breakfast to fill us up for the day as the portions are massive! I ordered the Nutella pancakes which were 3 huge pancakes topped with Nutella and banana and strawberries. They were delicious but even 2 pancakes would have been more than enough and I couldn’t eat it all. Excellent prices and the staff are lovely and are always coming round topping your coffee up.

We had dinner here after hearing good things, we had tickets to the Knicks game, Madison Square Garden is opposite. I wish we’d gone elsewhere, the food was nice but it felt like we were in a school canteen! In fact whilst there, two huge school trips arrived and took over the restaurant, it was very noisy, school kids shouting, the staff were rushed off their feet sorting the school kids out and we felt ignored and forgotten. Our food arrived cold.

If you go with a group through a tour operator like Panavision, they give you a plate of lettuce, a French omelet or a turkey sandwich to eat. Awful

Ordered a Pastrami sandwich on Rye. It came on white toast. Sent it back. Then came on a supermarket type rye bread, pastrami was dry and rubbery. Asked for mustard, all they had was a spicy type. Really. Now I've been listening to the waiters standing at a station behind us, talking Spanish non-stop. My wife said her chocolate milk shake was great At least they do one thing right. As the title says, "keep on Walking". There's a M Donald's across the street.

We ate here five times during our three days; three times for breakfast, once for dinner and once for lunch. Couldn't fault it. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, service was amazing and the food was delicious. Coffee was topped up often, as was water and some other drinks depending on what you ordered. Every meal we ordered was brought to us in under 10 minutes. The menu was vast with food to suit everyone and I could have pretty much eaten everything! I had a waffle with fresh fruit, Nutella french toast and a 3 egg cheese omelette for breakfast, cheeseburger and fries for dinner and a chicken caesar wrap for lunch. Portions were huge but it was all proper good food and the prices were excellent. Highly recommended, especially for breakfast which will fill you up for most of the day!

Portion sizes were great for the price. The food was bland and not seasoned well. The chicken was a bit over cooked and therefore dry. The fries were ok with ketchup and salt. The vanilla shake was really good and the carrot cake was really good.

Visited this lovely diner several times during our 5 nights in New York..the food is delicious & staff very friendly…we would definitely recommend this diner

Right inside the New Yorker Hotel we had a breakfast of pancakes and waffles. Super abundant dishes, even too much, it's really hard to finish them. Classic diner where you can find everything and more. Always very full and touristy given the very central location.

Food was Luke warm , no presentation just launched on the plate . Service poor , waitress miserable . Asked for a tip , said I will wait until you give me a tip , I don’t get a wage, our some money down and she said it’s not enough ! Felt like she was begging and was obliged to tip her even though the service was extremely poor . Lots of great diners … try Andy’s diner !

We ate here 3 times on our trip to New York, each time the servers were attentive and friendly. Food was tasty and the whole place had a good atmosphere.

Found it on a list of recommendation at my hotel. Went solo for breakfast on a Saturday around noon. After being seated I waited about 20 minutes before a waiter acknowledged me. I ordered a combo of pancakes, eggs and sausage. I was very suspicious when the meal arrived in about 3 minutes. The top pancake was cold and hard. That was enough to give the rating I did. The entire experience was not very welcoming.

After discovering the Tick Tock diner served gluten free pancakes, I am not ashamed to admit that I visited here every morning on my recent trip to New York. Pancakes were super soft and light with a mix of berries and fruit.

Good place for breakfast, especially if you are staying at the New Yorker or near Penn Station. Large options for breakfast. I had the avocado toast and my husband had an American breakfast- scrambled eggs, bacon hash browns and white toast.

Food is fair but is of Good quantity. Service is fast paced which you could not enjoy your meal as they want you to finish your food immediately. Somehow pleasant. Not a child friendly place. No high chair seen and restroom is a level below on a tight stairway, no koalabear seen. See images below.

Visited this place for a spot of lunch new years eve day as we were staying at the new yorker attached to it. It was quote disappointing we had phillycheesesteak and chips that wasn't great and 4 overcooked greasy chicken fillets with chips I also had 2 Heineken and the second came in a glass that didn't look so clean we also had a strawberry milkshake and this is what I've awarded the 2 stars for it genuinely was good. The staff just do thier job nothing else and your waiting a while to see the waitress. The bill therefore was disappointing with thier tip already added it was over 100dollars. Well not worth it. I don't like putting on bad reviews and as I say the milkshake.was good amd the place is quite quirky but I'm afraid for what it cost for what I got I would not return nor reccomend sorry.

Very convenient for guests staying at the New Yorker, we visited for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and dessert (on different days!) A nice varied menu, good food, reasonably priced (for New York!) and mostly good service - unsurprisingly a bit slower when they were very busy. One note to be aware of, if you pay on a credit card there is a 3% surcharge (so either use cash or charge it to your hotel room), and the staff strongly prefer cash for the tips.

Nice dinner for a typical meal at any time (open H24). We had breakfast there one morning very early and found it good and hearty. The price is therefore correct in these respects. Nice servers

There’s no such thing as a free meal in NYC -but there is good value for money and tick tock diner delivers. The menu has something for everyone and you'd be understandably leery about food quality with such a vast menu. That said, my wife had a BLT and I had fish and chips. First, we could have split one meal as the portions were big (three pieces of crispy fish). The BLT was “nicely packed” and my wife loved the maple flavoured bacon. The service was efficient and pleasant. There’s clearly a lot of food choices in NYC but if you’re not adventurous and want a dependable standby of comfort, return to the tick tock diner — and SPLIT a meal ( if they let you!!)

Suitably. We stayed twice in this place because adjacent to our hotel AND because the menu offer seemed valid. Quality of the food we say enough problem is that they are thieves because after deciding not to tip (after Anyway spent $120 in 4) we found ourselves deducted ukteriori $20 the next day on the prepaid card used to pay for dinner. So with absolute arrogance and without authorization they took the tip (illegal). Unfortunately we no longer had the receipts and the dispute of the expense with our payment card was not possible to start it despite them having indicated as authorized an amount but withdrawn the amount plus $20 (so here too there would be another chapter to open but for the moment let's dwell on the immorality and impropriety of this place). Be careful, do not sign the receipts if you do not want to tip because then they add what they want (applies to all places in the USA) Bad service, with listless and annoying staff (already before the first time we didn't tip). Zero honesty

We wanted an authentic American diner breakfast experience and it was exactly what we got! We had to wait in a queue to get a table but it moved quickly, we were waiting no longer than 5 minutes. The food was good and the service was quick. I had Steak and Eggs and my girlfriend had pancakes, both good quality. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to eat at an old school diner.

Don’t go there. I felt completely discriminated because I did not go with a big family. I lined up for 20mins and when it was my turn to get a table, they said they could only offer tables for groups of 3 or more. I waited 15mins more and watched people behind me getting a table just because they were more. The restaurant was not able to find a small spot for one person to eat. I ended up just leaving the place.

Excellent, they serve with kindness, fast service. The quality of the food is very good. Recommended for a good breakfast.

Family holiday staying at T(he New Yorker Hotel... Breakfast at Tick Tok Diner... Visited 3 times (1st due to free breakfast as staying in the hotel) 2nd visit was okay... mediocre and food order wrong and cold but paid the bill and small tip. 3rd occasion was the final straw, food arrived but cold.... Again! but what stopped us returning was the very rude female member of staff when we paid the bill plus 10% tip she complained and asked if that was all and didn't we think her service was worth the suggested minimum 18% ( Minimum!). Absolutely not! it wasn't worth what we were paying and certainly not a tip to start with but this rude female waitress has put us off ever returning and cost the Tick tock diner a weeks worth of mediocre cold breakfast orders! go elsewhere.... Carnigie diner just up the road much better!

1st morning here, so went to the Tick Tock for breakfast. I had the Irish Benedict which was absolutely delicious. Two poached eggs with hollandaise sauce over corned beef hash with hash browns..yummy.! Grandson tried the Apple pie pancakes. Again delicious. Not especially cheap, but that’s the way of the world these days. Staff efficient & friendly.

delicious food, friendly and responsive staff. Prices are acceptable. Portions are huge. Waffles and cheesecake are my favorites. Definitely recommend. Full in the mornings, but the staff quickly find a free table and serve quickly. The design is interesting

I met an old friend for lunch at the TickTock and met another friend there for breakfast the next day. I told them I wanted a restaurant like the characters in Seinfeld would eat at, and this place filled the bill. Service was a bit slow, but we weren't pressured to move the table and the food at both meals was decent, if not gourmet-level. It's a block from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden, and directly adjoins the historic New Yorker Hotel. Like so much else in NYC, it seems like a place you know and are comfortable in, because you've seen places like it so often on TV and in the movies. I was happy there.

Good service. Great coffee. Reasonable prices. I had the protein omelette three egg whites, feta, spinach and two flattened, grilled chicken breasts. For under $20. My husband had cheese omelette and side of sausages 3 sausages $6 I don’t think you would be disappointed

Staying at the New Yorker hotel so have had breakfast every day and a couple of other meals here. Food is good, portions are generous, coffee is lovely, staff are very attentive, atmosphere is great, especially if you like people watching! Proper American Diner vibes.

This was a disaster... we waited for our order, too long time, we were sitting in front of the door, it was cold like hell & we got 18% tip applied automatically, the food is medium low quality... go to Taco Bell in front, it will be much better, faster & cheaper !! ☝️

The waitress wasn't overly friendly but certainly efficient. Food portions were a good size and filled us up. It was reasonably priced for a diner near times square. We added our tip ourselves as this was not added to our bill.

인종차별 심함 아시아인은 메뉴 주문도 못함 Racist diner. They let asians in and not take orders for three hours. Racism at its finest. Super racist diner against only asians. Other asians sat next to me got the same experience.

I had heard this place was recommended for breakfast, so we went along. We didn’t receive a warm welcome but were shown to our seats quickly. The waiter rolled his eyes at us when we weren’t ready to order immediately. The pancakes were generous in size, but overly sweet. A good amount of choice though. At the end the rude waiter took our card away for ages then came back with it and asked for the tip. We were planning on leaving this separately in cash, and ended up over tipping by accident, which still didn’t prompt any kind of positivity from the waiter. If I had a choice I would not have tipped for such poor service, but hope it at least got shared with the other staff, including the person clearly tables, who was run off his feet.

Looks like a typical American diner, or at least what we see on tv. Great choice of breakfast at very reasonable prices, good quality food and large portions. Staff not that friendly but very efficient.

We visited this diner on several occasions during our stay in NYC, only for breakfast and it didn't disappoint once. Service was quick and friendly and we always got seated in a booth even if busy. We had a mix of food from eggs with toast, potatoes and bacon to pancakes. The lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberries were the best I've ever eaten. All meals were great.

First day in New York, awake very early. Arrived at 5:45 in the dinner, very well received and settled. The portions are gigantic and delicious. Thank you for adapting the pancakes to my tastes. Loved the place, the waiters and the food!!!

A run of the mill fast food restaurant. Nothing special but food is nice and the staff very friendly as well. Plenty of coffee top ups!

The food was in the Middle not Bad… but the service terrible ; i Asked to the manager the Wifi ti Make check in flight Toward Italy But the manager refused tio help me. It’s Not Believe that this dinner doesn’t Have Wifi : simply the are not interested for Customer …

A bit of a trap as one of two restaurants (probably more accurately: eating places) in a hotel that has itself seen better days. Ordinary just about describes both service quality and food. For the less venturesome, if you are too footsore or tired to go in search of several better places. Which there are, just around the corner. And don't think that your inattentive waiter is any less demanding about a huge percentage for his (yes, mainly his) tip. Yawn. There must be better alternatives.

Great American diner with excellent service. Portion sizes were good and great location. Felt like in proper aAmerican diner.

Tourist food factory. Distinctly average food. MORE IMPORTANTLY, they charged us twice which they denied despite having both charges on mine and my husbands app. They made it impossible for us to get refunded even though we returned on another day to try and do so. We are over a month on and have not received a refund. An utter tourist trap and waste of money. Don’t bother!

Had breakfast here and it was OK. Nice but not special. The skylight diner around the corner was far more impressive. We returned for a late dinner which wasn't great by any standards. Food was look warm and fried to the point of being rock hard. Expensive for the lack of quality. Waiter also very rude and asked for more of a tip which the food nor service warranted. Wouldn't return.

A large variety of food with huge portions. My meatloaf slab almost filled the plate. Onion rings fantastic and meant for sharing. The shakes were great. Real diner food at reasonable prices. I wanted a late night corned beef sandwich but didn’t want the huge one listed. They made one for me for $10. It was still big and incredibly tender. I had planned on eating just a bit and saving the rest but ate it all, probably not the best idea at midnight before going to bed! But it was so good. Open 24 hours.

We stayed in the new yorker hotel and this is next door to it. The place was ok.food was ok .service was ok as well.prices are reasonable for new york

We had eaten here previously for breakfast and dinner on other visit to NYC. It has an extensive breakfast, bruch and dinner menu at reasonable prices. This time we dropped in for breakfast and quickly shown to a booth. Ordered numerous breakfast items of eggs, pancakes, sausages, bacon and hash browns along with coffees and orange juice. Good quality food at decent prices in a good old fashioned american diner set up in the heart of NYC. It's next door to the New Yorker hotel and close to Penn Station, Madison Square Garden as well as Macy's and the Empire State Building

They ask me mony for using the elevator however i told them i had surgery but the man was there was so rude and say you have too pay

This place had the nerve to serve food on a plate that was cracked. Also the water taste like pipe and the gravy was very lumpy. The worst restaurant experience in my life!!!!!

Excellent food & service. Our family of 4 had breakfast here every morning while staying in New York. Great variety to please everyone

If you're not fond of cheeky and arrogant waiting staff you might want to eat elsewhere. You know the kind of waiters and waitresses who put you on edge and make you feel uncomfortable from the off.. They're more interested in their expected bloated tips than genuinely wanting to give sincere and friendly service. It's customary, is it not, for the waiter to bring the bill to the table for the customer to check before paying. This waiter just told us verbally the total and instructed us to follow him to the till!. Had to insist twice they brought the bill to the table for us to check the correctness of it before paying. And on a previous visit the waitress (generally brusk) took away our credit card out of sight and tapped it. Thought she had gone to get the terminal to come back with. Cards should never be taken out of the sight of the customer for obvious reasons. Again, this person was more interested in a fat tip. We found more genuine courtesy in McDonald's across the road. Food in Tic Tok was enjoyable, but thought it was a little pricey. Maybe that's just New York. It's sad and annoying when establishments ruin the dining experience through surly staff. Would we go back on a future trip to New York? No.

My husband and I ate here a few times as it was local to the hotel we stayed at. We found the service to be good, lots of choice and great value for money. If you want a la carte then this is not the place for you but if you want fast, comfort food that hits the spot then we would recommend.

Good food and lots of it, staff very friendly and you don't have to wait long to get served, even when they are busy. We went in just after the Macy*s Day parade had finished so it was busy. I had a banana waffle and it was super delicious.

This place was our salvation because it is open 24 hours and we were able to have breakfast and rest there after arriving in NYC on a night bus at 6 a.m. It also has the atmosphere and typical food of the diners that we like so much. We have Benedictine eggs and bacon pancakes accompanied by many cups of coffee. Even if they don’t arrive in the early morning it’s worth a visit, plus it has a view of the Empire State.

Pretty clean and with typical American style that makes the experience fascinating, but food very heavy and too salty. We had cheese toast, a phili-chees steak, and some fried mozzarella sticks...tasty indeed, but I stop full of butter and oil, even for an average standard of American food.

Staying in the New Yorker this is a must for food especially breakfast if only for the location. (Attached to the New Yorker) the food choices were excellent and as we used this most mornings we enjoyed an array of different meals. Apart from one waitress (who I think was having a bad day) everything was brilliant and as a result we even went there for an evening meal.

What a gem; very good food which was freshly cooked and promptly delivered. On our visit this was the first place we visited and I think we got lucky.

As a local I've always loved this diner. We had the worst waitress ever. She never came by to refill coffee or water and took us a half hour to get the check. Good thing we weren't in a hurry. The food was also terrible. It's a shame but I won't be back. Maybe the owners have changed? Save your money and go to any of the pub/restaurants in the area.

We ate here twice while staying at the New Yorker Hotel - once for breakfast, and once was a late-night snack. Great menu, great service, reasonable prices. A perfect choice to grab a bite to eat across the street from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station, particularly if you are staying at the New Yorker Hotel.

The diner was attached to the hotel. I know if was ‘American Diner’ style food but it took unhealthy to another level. Other than this service was quick and easy.

Go your way!!! We had, among other things, the breaded chicken with fries. No chicken flavor but only fat from the frying, frozen fries not good at all. An expensive and very bad dish. Server who makes no effort to speak at least gently to explain the menu to us. Speaks in mumbles, not very friendly. Only the waitress was friendly. In short, worst meal taken during our vacation in New York. Even if it means paying a lot for eating well.

We arrived at Penn Station around 5 p.m. and checked into our nearby hotel. We wanted a simple dinner - wraps and salads - and this was ideal-- Good food, quick polite service and reasonably priced. We would stop here again.

A lovely little diner! Staff are really friendly and attentive. The diner is a good spot for breakfast whilst in NYC. Would recommend a visit !

Seats are dirty sat down and it ruined my brand new 130 dollar joggers, waiters are rude and owner just throws the food on your table, foods barely edible and the best part is the bathroom mirrors

I had called the night before to see what hours their special brunch menu was served and was told all day. The day I went of course I found out only served till noon. So I tried to make the best of it. I ordered an omelet that was so small it looked like it was made with one egg. It was supposed to come wish hash browns and they brought it with french fries - with an omelet!! I just ate as quick as possible, gave as little tip as possible and left. New York City has so many great diners and even subpar diners that you must visit. Avoid here at all cost. Other than the art deco design it is truly terrible.

Convenient spot next to New Yorker hotel close to Penn Station and MSG. Stopped for lunch on way to show. Decent menu, typical diner fare. Sandwiches were good. Prices about average for city. Decor had retro vibe. Service was solid and perfunctory, maybe not overly warm or personable, but got the job done. Overall would recommend considering.

We were seated promptly, our drinks and appetizer arrived in minutes, and our entrees shortly after. My burger was juicy and cooked perfectly, and my partner's California benedict had fresh avocado and silky hollandaise. The fries are amazing, super crunchy and came out piping hot. The cocktails were a little weak, but I think that was just the theme of NYC restaurants. Lots of fun decor and some big windows to people watch while you eat. A great first dinner in NYC!

We walked into this “diner” on 8th Avenue by chance, and we were not disappointed. First of all, a long menu with lots of choice and fast, no-frills service - we're in a diner! The dishes are plentiful and good. The value for money is very good for NYC and the neighborhood (one of my cheapest meals of my vacation…)

I had a number of breakfasts at the Tick Tock during my recent stay in NYC. The breakfasts are tasty and filling, and even when out walking for the day, gave me the quantity and energy to avoid snacking! I highly recommend their fluffy pancakes and their delicious omelets. I purchased a breakfast package through the adjoining hotel, The New Yorker. While most of the Tick Tock staff are experienced, courteous professionals, there was one waiter who would neither bring me a different kind of toast nor give me a coffee refill to-go, saying that because of my breakfast package I had to drink it in the restaurant, which I thought was odd, but worth mentioning in case others encounter this. I would definitely return and try their dinner menu too.

Decent Diner with decent food. Located on the side of the New Yorker Hotel and near Penn Station. It was open very late. We went here for breakfast one morning . It was busy, but we were seated quickly without a reservation. I ordered the 2 eggs and cornbeef hash $15.95. The food was decent and cooked ok, tasted nice. We ordered tea and I had 2 Orange Juices. For 2 of us the Bill came to $57 so not cheap. The service was ok. The menu was extensive and I think it was open 24 hrs a day. All in all it did the job.

Mass handling, service impossible, with the taxes and minimum tip maximum overpriced. Many better alternatives on 9 avenue

3 egg omelette and hash browns for under 20 bucks. Filled me for the morning, ready for my day exploring the city. Opposite Penn station

This place is okay the pancakes were good but the strawberries were off which ruined the experience a bit. The staff are not the friendliest of the bunch and are only helpful when they see $$$

We stayed in the hotel for 6 nights and this was a great addition to the hotel. Great service and an excellent selection of food available. The staff were attentive and on hand quickly if needed. We visited here every morning for breakfast during our stay at the hotel and for snacks after being out all day. The omelette is delicious, and the portion size is great. Classic diner experience. It's just like what you see in the movies! I hope places like this never disappear. There are plenty of food options for everyone!

We entered on a oid wintry raining night. We were served good tasty food by a most genkal waite we finished wi rgenial helpful waiter. This was finished off with dessert

My boyfriend and I visited on 3/26/23 @ 3:30. A gentleman took our drink order then only brought 1 drink. When I received my glass there was debri on the outside, I was given no straw. So I asked a bus boy who brought one. When our waitress who took our order brought our food she threw them on table , if thats not bad enough she gave us the wrong food. Then we had to ask for bill. Then she said we had to give at least an 18% tip. You want 18 % you give that kind of service. I have been in customer service for 20 years. I know a little. Even with the half hearted service we received we had put a tip. She scoffed and then become argumental that we should tip more . Food is great so cudos to the cook. But service leaves something to be desired.

Good food all of the time service not so great all of the time. We visited this diner on multiple occasions due to its convenient location being situated at the bottom of the hotel we stayed in. Food was always great prices always reasonable service is good however on our last day we were told to have a seat then forgotten about no menus brought over and no water brought over before ordering

Place was clean, food was really lovely, great selection (especially for fussy eaters). Staff were pleasant and friendly. My 8 year daughter wanted to here most days of our trip, she really enjoyed the food.

Took a long time to order, but quickly to get the food. Hefty portions, but could have been more affordable. Smooth first dinner adjacent to the hotel.

I don’t know what it is about the Tick Tock Diner but it is one of my favourite places in NYC to just chill and eat. The food is better than you’d expect, the drinks are class and the service is as quick or as slow as you need. The fact it is open 24/7 (almost) is a bonus. Last I was there I had a vanilla milkshake and a Reuben sandwich and it was fantastic, despite being 4am. Love this place. Might not be to everyone’s taste but it is to mine.

Old school New York diner attached to the New yorker hotel but with entrances off the street also . Have had breakfast here every day of our trip so far as part of hotel we are staying at and super convenient . The service is good and although always busy we have been seated immediately every time ( we are a family of four ) . The food is typical american fare of eggs , sausage , bacon , omelettes , eggs Benedict etc. and is delivered really quickly after ordering ,which with two kids that don't want to sit still in restaurants is a huge bonus .Portion sizes are good and the food is good if not spectacular. Prices are what you expect for the area and we pay around $90 dollars ( with tip ) for the whole family . Servers are pleasant and the coffee was refilled even when busy which was appreciated as nothing worse than not seeing a waiter between food being delivered until he arrives with the check . Would recommend and will be going back again today

Went for breakfast, great food and coffee, unfortunately let down by staff attitude. I had my plate taken away while still eating and the staff were very rude to each other, particularly some older members towards younger members. Be careful if paying by card as you’ll be charged a service fee and the suggested tip does increase once the service fee has been added, probably means the tip values shown on the bill aren’t being worked out correctly in the first place.

This place was close to our hotel and we ate our first and last meal during our 8-night stay in Manhattan here. We had lunch the first day (club sandwich and fries and soft drinks). Price was ~$40 before tip. On our last day, we had breakfast here. Food was good, pancakes and eggs benny. Price was also around $40. Servers were a bit indifferent, but that's the charm of NYC. They were quite efficient.

Perfect location for breakfast. Usually pretty busy so make sure you have time. I ordered brioche French toast with apple sausage and eggs and it was great. Portion was a lot too

Good service. The waitress was very friendly and we changed our order several times. Excellent food

Had our best breakfast of our holiday here. The New Yorker. Toast with smashed avocado, smoked salmon, creme fresh, poached eggs and cucumber. I am pining for it! Please have it if you go! Busy diner (good sign), locals and tourists. Staff busy but friendly. Great decor, fab food. A bit more expensive that other diners but food quality shows. Go now!

I made a reservation the day before for 3 people -- definitely recommend doing this. The place was packed and it was the evening of SantaCon. We were seated right away, service was good and food was excellent. This is a real diner -- I was worried it would be touristy imitation diner, but no - was the real deal. Open 24 hours and good basic food at pretty reasonable prices. They have a website so you can see before you go. The location is wonderful - one block from MSG and subway, near a lot of things you might want to visit. No need to go to expensive places. We had a booth so it was private and not noisy. It's on 8th Avenue so if you are nearby and hungry, this is perfect. It is about a 10 minute walk from most of the theaters near Times Square. I wouldn't go especially to eat, but if you are nearby this is perfect, and also it's open 24 hours - so nice for late food. I felt very safe but, again, it's holiday time and it was Saturday 5 pm and Santacon, so lots and lots of happy people everywhere!

Popped in after a show at Madison Square Gardens so it was fairly late but oh so dreary. Staff stood chatting to each other and didn’t seem to care who came in.

Perfect place for a good and inexpensive breakfast. Service and quality of food was very good. The servers are very friendly and patient. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive eat in the city. Especially if you are staying at the New Yorker Hotel.

Disappointed with the service (unattentive and slow). The food was good but not outstanding. You could say it was just breakfast, but that doesn't mean it doesn't need some excitement in presentation and flavor.

Perhaps they make a great breakfast, but we were there for dinner. Their coleslaw is absolutely disgusting (the smell of rotting cabbage should be a clue). The fried chicken was very overcooked, dry and tasteless. The only decent thing on the dinner menu were the fries, the fries were delicious. It is too bad the food is so terrible because the service is excellent. In a city full of diners (a great one is only two blocks away) this one is an miss.

Sits next to the hotel where we stayed and was therefore very practical. Food is what you can expect from a dinner, okay and tasteful. And now quickly explore New York...

There is an entrance straight from The New Yorker hotel. The food is good and plenty of it. Service friendly and efficient.

Was recommended this diner by an online YouTuber and wasn’t disappointed. Our hotel was the Aliz Hotel in Times Square and this was a short walk from there, around seven blocks. This ended up being my son and my go to place to eat in the morning. View is pretty good too, Madison Square Gardens and Empire State. I had several options, chicken, bacon avocado sandwich and cheese and turkey ham with egg. My son loved the pulled pork. The staff were all very friendly and dinners were brought out promptly. I can highly recommend the diner.

A friendly welcome by Chelsea, she was very understanding about my husband's gluten allergy, the service was impeccable, she even tailor made my cocktail as I don't like Malibu, we're from the UK, definitely worth a visit

Delicious comfort food, the loveliest staff, great location and atmosphere. I'm already missing the excellent breakfast tacos!

Food was very nice and came very quickly. However, some staff were incompetent. Also one day we did not eat many of our fries ordered because we had eaten everything else, and we were told “this is too much to hand back, I feel bad for the chef”, after not taking a to-go box because we were traveling to the airport.

We love the tick tock diner! We came a few years ago and so had to come back this trip! We loved it so much we ended coming back here for dinner 2 nights after 🤣. Staff are all lovely and the service is so quick I was amazed! The food was delicious and very filling. Highly recommend the pastrami burger! Cheesecake is amazing too! Great typical American diner for those looking for that when on holiday

We saw this place on a YouTube review just by chance and decided to give it a shot. AMAZING. We had a large group of 10 and made reservations for a Friday breakfast. The restaurant itself is surprisingly large. Everyone in our party LOVED their food (including 3 picky small kids), teenagers and adults. A very large variety of food to choose from, large portions. Service was great from the moment we arrived. We travel to NYC once or twice a year and have tried LOTS of restaurants including super fancy, Gossip Girl upper-east vibes (Tavern on the Green, Sarahbeths, etc.) as well as your typical diner. This is top 3 in NYC for breakfast, we will definitely be back.

This diner had a true old diner feel. The options for breakfast, lunch and even dinner were broad and portions were ample. Staff was attentive and friendly. Just had a neighborhood atmosphere.

This was recommended by the hotel we stayed in. Great American diner! There were lots of tables and a great menu! We ate twice here during our city break and I’d not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. The first morning, I had the Steak and Eggs…. Probably because I was still on UK time really and was starving !! My fiancé had the Chicken & Egg … in fact that was so good he had it the next day too, and I had a breakfast burrito …. Which was also awesome! Great coffee & a good view to sit and people watch ! Staff were friendly and the service was fast. Will absolutely come back again the next time we visit NY!

An authentic diner with the classic dishes - we got steaks egg Benedict and waffle with fruit and granola. There was a nice but a little lazy service, we were not offered filling on the coffee and we had to wait a long time to be allowed to pay even if there was no fill up.

I've been coming to the Tick Tock for many (18?) years, alone, for breakfast/brunch, when I come to the city with my husband who is working. The servers are always great, very attentive and nice. The food is always spot-on. I've tried out other diners, but always come back here. Do yourself a favor and ask to have your coffee in one of the silver Tick Tock mugs..I swear it tastes even better. Also, the location couldn't be better...right near Penn and the shopping district. They will get you in and out if you need to, or let you linger. A nice, varied menu. Try it!

Convenient to have a diner at the hotel but it is expensive. 600 SEK for a breakfast for two people. 200 SEK for two milkshakes etc. Tired staff. Ok food but nothing memorable.

Good Value for Award for generous portions. The dishes are good especially the pastrami burger without forgetting a smiling and professional waitress.

Great food plenty to choose from. The staff are really great and the atmosphere is really good. Would recommend for everyone.

This place is great! My friend and I were in town for a conference and only had an hour for lunch, so we told our server that we were in a hurry and he got our food out really fast! The portions were large enough that we didn't feel hungry again until hours later. Highly recommended!

Very good food , friendly staff ,nice ambience next to the New Yorker hotel. This diner was the best we tried on our trip..

Ate here for breakfast a few times during our visit. Good selection of food. Reasonable prices. Great location on 8th Ave & 34th St. right near Penn. St. Stn. Lovely staff. Would definitely return again. Bathrooms downstairs clean.

You want some unusual US? It's worth a visit... I put 4... Yes I remove 1 because of the fries not homemade pity.. Dare to walk through the swinging doors of this dinner I did and not regret... To your taste buds... 🇺🇲🗽

An unpretentious dinner but one of the best value for money in town. Open H24, very nice welcome with glasses of iced water on arrival, very hearty dishes (feel free to share) and very good milk shakes. To do without hesitation

Great 24 hour diner, service was wonderful and food was delicious. We had chicken and waffles, pancakes and bagels with salmon.

This was our 2nd to last day in NYC, spending 10 days here. We were leaving on a train from Penn Station, so walked over to orient ourselves to the station in advance. We wanted breakfast first, and Tick Tock is kitty corner from Penn Station at the intersection of 34th St. and 8th Ave. So at 10:30AM on Sunday, December 31, 2023 we walked in and were seated immediately at a booth. Service was prompt, friendly and professional by Christos. This place is open 24 hours a day, and breakfast is served anytime. We placed our order and admired the decor in this place, it's a wonderful and welcoming diner. My wife had the Avocado Egg Toast, she said it was awesome. I had the Smoked Salmon Benedict. It was so good, salmon was perfect and the spinach was sauteed perfectly. Coffee was made fresh and strong. I loved the special coffee cups here. Very convenient to walk over if you are departing or arriving at Penn Station, and much better service and food than what you find at the train station.

Honestly, shocking diner! Check the shelf next to your table. Dust, grime etc which hasn't been cleaned in years. Food plentiful but tastes like it's been cooked in years old oil.... disgusting! Best part of the experience? Grumpy waiter jokingly saying "shoot me!" He got a good tip; the only other tip would be to shut down this cess pit!

Cute diner but the food didn’t blow us away. We planned this as our first breakfast in NYC and I was looking forward to it. Sadly my banana pancakes were slightly undercooked inside and had a floury taste to them. My husband said his breakfast was ‘ok’ Service was good, served quickly and coffees topped up. We were there at around 7am so wasn’t too busy. Breakfast in NYC isn’t cheap and almost everywhere we went was $50 plus tip so be prepared to spend a lot on food if you’re using diners.

Placement near the front door - thank the drafts! Cold pasta and change by microwaving on the same plate - poor service. No concern - just business! Don't sit there or there will be a nasty surprise on the menu!

Friendly fast service, excellent food, a real diner. Stopped in before Knick game at MSG. We had a bacon hamburger and meatloaf and desert.

Fab service, fab food! Ate here 3 times during our stay in New York. Reasonably priced, excellent food! Great breakfast menu.

Went for breakfast, great menu choice and food was plentiful, staff were really attentive and looked after us. Would definitely recommend

This is a typical diner. Food is consistent, near Penn Station, abrupt waitresses, and lots of choices. Great for kids and reasonably priced. A go to spot if you are in the area. 8th isn't pretty late at night so try it earlier than 10pm

Decided on here for a late lunch option prior to taking the train to JFK as we had stayed in the adjacent New Yorker hotel. We were shown to our table by someone who uttered less than two words to us. Servers stood along the bar area throughout our visit chatting which did make it feel quite intimidating. Our food and plates were literally thrown down onto the table with a flippant “Enjoy!”. The burger and onions were drenched in so much oil which made the bun soggy and fall apart. The chipotle chicken sandwich had that much dressing on it also made the bread fell apart. Both sets of fries were also cold as was the bacon on both meals. Despite the amount of food we both left we were never asked why or if there had been a problem. When asked if we wanted the items “to go” we declined “no thank you they’re not very nice”. Still no question. We then got presented with the check and was immediately asked to leave a tip in cash rather than add it to our credit card! Apparently ”this will make it easier for us”. By this time we just wanted to leave. We are well travelled visitors to many parts of the US and fully appreciate that tipping is customary but the standard of food and service did not warrant one. Very very disappointing visit and one not to be repeated.

Ordered two 2 egg breakfast to go. Explained to George who took my order that I was headed for the train and needed all my utensils and condiments on the side. I get on the train and none of it is in the bag. Now I will not be able to eat my breakfast until I can find utensils.I called to complain and apparently he is gone for the day. Even left a 25% tip trusting he got my order right. I will be disputing the charge with my credit card company.

Second visit here. Probably the last! Took around 15-20 minutes after seated for order to be taken even though the family beside us came in after us and ate before us!?! You know what though.. the food is actually quite good. Hash brown was a little greasy for my liking but everything we ordered was hot and fresh tasting. Had one refill on the coffee I ordered and that was only because I asked when the waitress was passing. The service just isn’t very good. It wasn’t on my first visit 2 years ago and it still isn’t! We were given the completely wrong bill to pay for, it was approx . $18 more than our own bill. If we had not sat and looking through each item we would have been over charged. Requested it to be sorted and this took asking several waiting staff and around 15 minutes to be sorted. YOU LITERALLY CUT YOUR OWN TIP!!! Good service = good tips! It’s really not that difficult! Won’t ever return and wouldn’t recommend to family/friends visiting as there are some proper gem’s in the city to visit apart from here.

Good: service was very attentive. Food came fast. Price was very reasonable. Breakfast for 2 was $35, including tip. Bad: food was flavorless. Even adding salt didn’t improve the flavor. Overall: not going back. There are better places for breakfast.

It was our first time in New York, so we wanted to go to an authentic diner during our stay. This looked the part, but the staff were surly and rude and the food was lukewarm with little taste. Honestly, the McDonald's we had down the street was nicer!

Came here with my girlfriend for breakfast, my breakfast was okay, but hers looked pretty horrific. Service wasn't the best, forgetting items and in general not being very attentive. Wouldn't have minded too much if it hadn't been so expensive.

Not pleasant! We tried here for breakfast and for our evening meal. Breakfast absolutely vile! Tasted like the oil needed changing! Made me feel sick! Evening meal just as bad. Poor food at ridiculous prices!

Tasty, good value for money food. Good choice of menu, friendly staff, central in New York next to Penn Station. Underneath New Yorker Hotel where we stayed

We arrived and immediately I asked for a coffee which never actually came. The man who came to serve us was very rude and had a moan at us for asking him to repeat what he said. There’s only 1 option for breakfast. Which is an American breakfast. It came with potatoes which looked so disgusting, tasted like cardboard and looked like toenails. The bacon was cold and disgusting, the toast was horrible. Afterwards I asked for my coffee again, and I was given a tea. The orange juice had so many bits and was terrible. Poor experience. Do not recommend.

We came here twice for breakfast and loved it, couldn’t fault it. We had the Italian omelet, pancakes, Nutella French toast and it was delicious. Very friendly staff especially on our second visit a lovely waitress called bozan

This diner is attached to the New Yorker hotel open 24hrs. So handy if your staying here food was delicious ate breakfast every day of our stay in NYC and lunch once. Lovely friendly staff. Gratuity not already included on the bill which I liked, We were always happy with everything to leave a good tip.

We visited Tick Tock several times during a recent visit to New York. Most of the waiting staff were very kind, accommodating and courteous and on the whole the food was lovely. Unfortunately a star has been deducted due to the last visit. We went for breakfast and on a previous trip we had unfortunately been unhappy with an unclean cup so each time we visited during this trip we asked for takeout cups which the staff were happy to provide. However on this last visit the waiter that served us was awkward about giving a takeout cup and only agreed once we informed him that it had not been a problem before. My mum also didn’t enjoy her food on the last visit because the waffle she was served was cold. Overall however it was a nice place to go.

Food tasted delicious and prices were good. Restaurant was clean and tidy. Service wasn’t particularly friendly. Would visit again though just to try the different meals.

Jet lagged we went at 5am on a Friday, only a few people inside. Coffee good, French toast amazing and reasonably priced. Can not complain and would go again.

Had breakfast here twice during our holiday in NY. Kids loved it! Generous portions and friendly service. Wide range of both savory and sweet options. Spacious and easy to quickly get a table.

Great little diner not far from Empire State Building, open all hours and an extensive menu so lots of choice and the food was great as well

Service was absolutely brilliant food was amazing and quick would highly recommend this place had dinner in it as well that was lovely as well we had a fella called Jose very nice man

We ordered waffles which were lovely and the waiter was very attentive. My mum ordered a cup of tea only to discover that the cup it had been served in was dirty and when we spoke to the waiter he assured us that it was a clean cup despite there being a very noticeable stain on the cup which he could not identify. As much as we enjoyed the food we would not return here due to cleanliness concerns.

The restaurant is conveniently located for metro, buses and trains nearby. The portions are exaggerated so the price is crazy. For a pancake, two waffles and three teas paid a whopping $65. Way too much.

We stayed at New Yorker hotel and this restaurant was next to the lobby so we decided to have there our first breakfast in the city. And it was really first and last as we felt that we were rip off. We ordered 2x big English breakfast ($17.95 each) plus side toast ($3.45) and 2x cappuccino ($5.25 each). The watery beans tasted not the best and champignons were put straight from the tin without any cooking with one sausage and 2 strips of bacon. We paid in total $54.27 incl. tax and we gave also a tip but only because the service was quick, not for the value of breakfast. During the day we found just 5 minutes walk away better value and taste restaurant.
Terrible server
Food is ok. The prices correspond to what is done in New York, so quite expensive but no more than elsewhere. A waiter often misses the point, we ask him for a dish, he gives us something that has nothing to do with it and leaves. We call him back to tell him that that's not what we asked for, and he replies that there isn't the other one anymore. Example for a Strawberry Cheesecake ordered, he brings a Lemon Cheesecake, puts it down without saying anything and leaves...forced to tell him so that he responds "there are no more strawberry ones" OK Server not particularly friendly. Unfortunately, at the time of the bill we misunderstood, so we wanted to pay the bill + the tip which was noted on it like everywhere we went. We therefore ask to pay by card. The waiter becomes completely unfriendly and tells us no, he prefers us to pay in cash. I tell him we're doing it wrong if we don't have cash. He said to me “I know you have some”, and not in a joking tone. I tell him we prefer to pay by card. He was really rude and disrespectful in the way he treated us. I go out and let someone in my family pay by card. I see on the bill that the tip is not charged. I return to the restaurant because despite the fact that the waiter was horrible, we wanted to pay the tip. So I went back to see him, he was really really unpleasant. I tell him he didn't count the tip and we want to pay it, he literally throws the bill at me and says "you already paid, too late" and leaves. Either way, this almost obligatory American tipping system is horrible. The waiters think they are entitled to anything and believe they deserve tips of 22% or even 25% even though they are not doing their job properly and are disrespectful. Even if, for the time being, we did not purposely not give
