We visited here several times during our stay in New York There is a great selection of good quality food - hot and cold - either to sit in or take away including fresh fruit and salad options at reasonable prices Staff are friendy and helpful. The only down side for us was that you can only use their wi-fi once.

Toast is a fantastic 24-hour spot with a wide variety of delicious food options and excellent coffee. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or sitting down for a late-night meal, the menu has something for everyone. The coffee is rich and flavorful, perfect for any time of day. Highly recommend!

So….the food was actually pretty good but the service was bad. You have no idea when you walk in there that you need to order the food and pay before you can sit down. The paying counter is behind the food counter and I literally got shouted at by the rude woman for walking up the stairs before paying because I DIDNT KNOW YOU HAD TO PAY FIRST. I went back and said I’ve never been here before so how am I supposed to know and she continued to shout at me from across the counter. Would not go back. So rude! Put signs up if you want people to know what to do on there. Ridiculous.

This spot is an excellent alternative to a sit down experience when you exit a show at 10PM and just don't feel like spending 1-2 hours at a restaurant. We visited Toast after a show recently and found the buffet offerings to be quite diverse and of excellent quality. You can pick up fruit, cooked or fresh vegetables and a variety of prepared foods and have a nice relaxed post show meal ay your leisure.

Loved this place so convenient for fresh buffet takeout 24/7 to our hotel. Great choices, all priced by weight. Cold beer and wine as well. I wish our hometown had a business like this after a night on the town.

I have been go to that place for Over fours years almost every day for lunch, spending 15-20$ per visit. I went there today, after I had lunch I wanted to get coffee and chocolate and back to my sit.. THEY DIDN’T LET ME GO BACK AND CONTINUE MY LUCH. I WAS DO DISAPPOINTED , I am not going to back there again . Business don’t appreciate they clients . BTW food overpriced

We were recommended this by staff at our hotel and we loved it. Went for breakfast and lunch and excellent quality food. Would definitely recommend. We went numerous times during our visit.

There is so much choice of food & reasonably priced, either fill a plastic container from the buffet or order it made fresh, a good mix of Asian food & basic stuff. They also do a very good breakfast.

We discovered Toast around the corner from our hotel. The options of buying water, snacks as well as ordering juices, sandwiches or burgers was awesome. The staff were really friendly and in the week we were in New York we visited several times. Highly recommend.

Sometimes one wants something simple, even when surrounded by good restaurants. Toast cafe is not only surprisingly clean, the food all was well prepared and not at all dear. And now comes the shocker -- the person at the checkout was pleasant and offered a smile. I'd give place this two thumbs up.

We were staying at a hotel around the corner on 35th St. and went here for breakfast one morning. My husband and I shared a delicious bacon, egg & cheese sandwich one of the best I've ever had. It's a great spot, nothing fancy, but the food is good. My only criticism is that it was very hot upstairs where you can sit to eat your food (this was December, and the heat was crazy up there); not all of the tables were clean, but we found one that wasn't dirty.

Very good. Great variety of meals, and types of dishes, pasta, salad, soup, sandwiches, sweet, coffee. Open 24 hours. Very friendly All very clean Recommendable.

Smoothies are excellent made fresh on order. Food is self-selection into a tray and you pay for the weight of items up in. great selection of bacon, sausage, egg, french toast pancakes, fruit, etc. Seating upstairs.

The food was cold and the fish was raw. when we walked in everything looked pretty good. The fruit was nice but we payed 25 dollars for a few pieces of fruit??? The woman behind the counter was rude, and the interior is old and not nice. Wouldn’t come back

We went here a couple of times, first time we ate inside upstairs. It's not much, just basis table and chairs. The food is good. It's a weigh your food place. So you pay by the lbs.. The choices are good, plenty of variety, from salads to hot foods, meat, fish, vegetarian. I would recommend for a change from burgers, pizza etc.

I travel to NYC on a regular basis for business and always stay in Herald Square. I always have breakfast every morning every time I stay in the city. The bagels are excellent, the scrambled eggs are delish and the fruit always fresh. Highly recommend!

Fill your bowl with fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, pasta,... Fresh & very healthy options. Very good price-quality ratio. Open 24/7

I LOVE this place! Luckily it was real close to the hotel I was staying at. I went for an early dinner the day I arrived in NYC. They have so much to choose from. I skipped the sandwiches and went for the buffet. It was amazing with a huge selection of delicious items. The cost is $12.99/lb and it is honestly very worth it. I got only hot items and I got a ton of food that ended up being 2.5 pounds which I found very reasonable. I was in NYC 3 nights and another night after a show I went for a late night dinner and back to the buffet I went. Everything was just as fresh and varied as the first time. This time knowing how good the food was I got 3 pounds which cost $40 and again for what I got it was very reasonable. I had amazing mashed potatoes with meatballs and gravy, mac and cheese, penne pasta, turkey with giblet gravy. All so good. And the place is kept spotlessly clean. I also found all the staff extremely friendly. Any questions I had they were quick to answer. Now this is a store for groceries as well as a deli with buffet, soup. desserts etc. After paying I ate there and took my food on a tray to the upper level which had a ton of tables and was so comfortable with air conditioning. Honestly their food is better than many restaurants in NYC. I highly recommend. A true winner for me.

We ate here twice since it was around the corner from our hotel and we wanted something quick and easy. The food was very good, both for dinner and breakfast. We ate upstairs which is more like a cafeteria than a cafe, but we were fine with that. The staff are lovely.

This little place on Sixth Avenue, basically in front of Macy's and a stone's throw from the Empire, will save many of your lunches and dinners, as it did for us! Clean and the staff are very kind, with 15/20 dollars you can fill (at a buffet) a nice container of food for 13 dollars an ounce (500 grams); the products are absolutely fresh, the dishes kept warm and replaced by the waiters when they are almost finished; there is a lot of choice of dishes: meat, fish, vegetarian, soups, ethnic, etc. The food is really good. There is also a corner where you can find ready-made sushi in convenient trays and in different sizes, and if you want you can also have salads, bagels or pancakes and similar made at the chef's counter. You can also buy crisps, dried fruit, sweets, sweets and ice cream. Upstairs a beautiful and large room for eating, but you can also take away. If you eat there, there is no surcharge. The coffee could be improved; They don't have chopsticks but only plastic cutlery. For the (crazy, in most cases) prices in New York, this brasserie (open 24 hours a day) is an excellent solution for eating well and lots of it! Super recommended!!

Lovely place for a quick breakfast! Loved the toasted bagels with many different options for fillings, quick service and good prices!

We're so happy to discovered Toast Cafe Brasserie this deli and restaurant. we've had breakfast and snack on two days straight. The location was excellent. and their price are okay ..Hence what do you expect in NYC? LOL Nothing is cheap. but they have lots of stuff, sandwich, hot and cold per LB. and snack or bagel or rolls.. Eggs as well they will make whatever you want. It's first deli food restaurant.. Upstairs has lots of table so you will be able to sit and eat along with TV :):) It's really great!

Great place all day. We used it for breakfast with good options for breakfast boxes and/or self-serve. We went there many times and had different foods on different days. Also available bottled drinks.

Staying at Hotel Metro whilst they were renovating the restaurant meant that we were given daily vouchers for either a cream cheese bagel or a cheese and egg bagel with either a tea, coffee or orange juice. We would have liked to of had an option to have a bottle of water instead but unsure if this is the hotel’s choice or Toast? The food was plentiful and tasted great. The cafe is hugely busy but the lines go down quickly. I like that it’s open 24/7 as we stopped in here on our way back from MSG’s Knicks game on a Friday night but the prices are steep. Almost $30 for two sandwiches, a drink and some cookies! We paid around the same for two meals at Hooters! The staff could be a tad friendlier but assuming due to the sheer volume of people coming in and out constantly that they are more focused on getting the food out than providing a service with a smile maybe? All in all it was okay.

Unfortunately the hotel where me and my friend were staying was refurbishing the meals room so they gave us vouchers every morning to have breakfast at this place. It was the most stressful part of my holidays. Confusing ordering system - you have to repeat your order 3 or 4 times and it'll still be wrong at times. Staff aren't too friendly and the lack of communication doesn't make things any easier. When you finally get your food and go across to the cashier, they have no clue what you're paying for. You could tell them anything! Other times they'll just be shouting at each other from the cashier to the counter to figure out what you ordered, while you wait. The food is good but on the last day I decided to just go somewhere else and pay out of my pocket as this was just too much hassle for a holiday.

We loved finding Toast Cafe Brasserie! They have a fantastic selection of meats and vegetables (cooked hot) in their buffet line, as well as a great selection of fruits and goodies to supplement your meal. There is a large upstairs space for you to eat and the overall price is excellent for New York City. The day we departed NYC, we stopped at Toast Cafe and got two large sandwiches, 2 packs of cookies and some waters to go, and the total cost was less than $30. That quick lunch snack was perfect for our 3-hour train ride to Boston that afternoon. This is a great choice for people who want a quick, healthy snack and have a budget.

Took a chance on this restaurant while walking back to hotel from the Herald Square subway station. Very clean, reasonable prices for NYC, generous sandwich portion. Helpful staff.

Unorganised mess, women behind the counter shouted at us for going up the stairs to take some of our food up whilst a family member was waiting for more. (you have to pay before you go up there but this wasn’t made clear) When the food was done and we placed it on the counter she tried charging us $15 extra of which we didn’t need to pay. (After 5 mins of arguing she dropped it to the regular price) Food was okay nothing special. But the costumer service made it completely not worth coming back. So make sure you CHECK YOUR BILL!

We only called in once mainly because of misunderstandings and (our) confusion over the procedure of getting what you want and when to pay for it. Despite asking the staff for guidance there didn't seem to be a consistent message on how to get what we wanted and from which counter. Ordering and paying was a problem' especially when my credit card didn't work on their till!!! After a couple of aborted attempts to pay after I had entered my PIN I feared the worst in terms of suspecting that payments had been taken anyway. To be fair to them there must have been a genuine problem and no subsequent payments have been taken from my account. Getting drinks seemed to be a problem and staff were shouting across the room from one counter to the other. It was probably all our fault but we didn't know it at the time and as I said, communication seemed to be a problem. Anyway enough rambling and on to the food. I can't remember what everyone else had for breakfast, but the bowl of oatmeal and the selection of beautiful fresh fruit (from the $9.99 weigh your own section) that I had was excellent. We ate upstairs in the simple refectory like room, which was fine but basic. If it had been down to me we would have gone there more often for breakfast, but the others were a little put off by experience. My advice would be to definitely give it a try.

We fell across this eatery by chance looking for somewhere to have breakfast and having tried it that morning, we returned each morning and also on the evenings. Toast seems to be a family place, open 24 hours, and happy to create whatever you want for breakfast. There is also a large smoothy or juice bar together with the traditional hot drinks and bottled options. What we really enjoyed was the hot and cold buffet option to choose as much or little as you wish and pay based upon weight, which we took away and enjoyed in our hotel room around the corner. The whole shop and dining area upstairs were well cleaned and the staff were very pleasant every time we went in. Definitely recommended.

Great quick stop for coffee and bagels - however this is very busy and was confusing on how to pay and order

Take the food bars from both Whole Foods and Wegman's, combine them and you have Toast. In addition there are wonderful hot food choices, drinks, snacks and more. Seating upstairs. I wish we had Toast where I live.

Our family purchased tickets for the Macys Day Thanksgiving Brunch and 2nd Floor Viewing. I cannot express enough the great time we had. The staff were so attentive to our needs. The location was just before the balloons, bands, and floats turned the corner for the main stage. Would recommend to anyone looking for great food, good company, and safe place out of the elements during the parade. But don't hesitate to go downstairs and take in the parade just in front of Toast!!!!

Nice place, nice food. Everytime I was there, regardless the time, buffet was always there, available, beautiful, delicious and ready. I haven´t seen same care in other places.

Very high quality food. Lots of choices - both pre-made or make to order. Sandwiches, salads, stir fry, buffet. Tables to eat food upstairs. Open 24 hours. No beer or wine. Will definitely try this place again.

TOAST is an amazing store/restaurant with the greatest buffet. They are open 24 hours and were close to my hotel. I went for breakfast and dinner. The dinner buffet had a very broad array of delicious foods always hot. The price for what you get is great. And for breakfast, you have everything you could want in the delicious selections - eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, pancakes and so much more. This place is a great alternative to overpriced and just ok restaurants. There is seating on the second floor and there will always be many NYC locals there which I really love. It feels great to become a true part of the NYC vibe. Every time I am in NYC I go here many times.

The place was a great surprise for a quick coffee and also a greater one for a lunch. The prices were actually pretty fair considering the location and the food was amazing!

We love the bagel from this place. Sorry to discover only at the end of the trip, Great price with excellent quality. There are several food options. I recommend

Large selection of hot and cold variety. Salads, sandwiched, choose your own buffet. Eat in or take out

NYC cafes offer an amazing array of food options. The Toast Cafe offered a very good tuna panini prepared very quickly. The tables upstairs were helpful as well. TIP: Bathrooms are up the stairs in the back. They are not very nice but still useful.

Had breakfast there every morning this past weekend, and loved their bagels. Only $2.50 for bagel with cream cheese, fresh, and couldn't have asked for more.

This brightly-lit store, located a short distance from our hotel, offers a variety of services that will satisfy many travelers’ needs, from sandwiches, hot cooked food buffet serving many different cuisines, açaí bowls, wine, beer, beverages, yogurt, ice cream, juices, cold smoothie drinks, to basic OTC meds and toiletries. We came by to get bottled water and ended up trying out their freshly squeezed healthy juices. A big thumbs up.

Went 3 days running, food is good but pricey. They advertise FREE WIFI but you can only access it once, we managed twice but then it denied our attempts. Asked the staff who knew nothing and were no help. We chose this place because it had free wifi and cannot fathom this owner's attitude to restrictions when all his competitors offer free unreservedly. So, go once and don't go back, they really don't need your money! We had arranged to make calls by WhatsApp and were badly let down by this pathetic business attitude. Won't ever go back and will be writing this on every social media account I have!

Great soups, fresh fruit, quick meals. Staff is very kind and helpful to us - two octogenarians. Place is always clean.

Great coffee and breakfast sandwiches , 7 kinds of cheese cheese, they also had lunch sandwiches which looked great, some provisions, beer etc. went here 3 times in a 24 hr trip!

This cafe is great for anyone looking for a fresh, quick breakfast. They have so many choices that there’s something for everyone. You could have a fresh juice or smoothie, eggs and toast, and omelette of your choosing, Panini‘s, bagels, fruit, so many things. There’s also a small grocery that has drinks and snacks. Upstairs there’s the area with tables for those people who want to eat there. The prices are good and it’s just a perfect place to go When you have multiple different food preferences.

Went here every day as the choice of hot n cold food was brilliant from wraps to burgers to sandwiches everything was so fresh plus they had a area with hot n cold n fruit where you weighed out the food think it was $9.99 dollars per pound plus it had an upstairs seating area plus it was open all the time would recommend a visit here as just round the corner from the hotel we stayed at

Spotted this cafe on our last day. Food was very tasty, friendly staff. So many options of salads, hot dinner, sandwiches/paninis, sushi, the list goes on. Great stop to stop into.

Like other people we had vouchers from our hotel to get breakfast here. Had bagels most mornings which were fine could have done with more choice though. We bought food at other times & it was all very tasty & fresh.

We love this place. It’s been our go to stop for beer and quick decent food. Really thought of it more like a convenience store than restaurant but they renovated and now focus on ready to eat food. It’s clean. They have lots of fruits, salads and hot dishes. The buffet is $9.99 per pound. Pick what you want and they weigh it at the register. There is seating upstairs but we have always done takeout.

Spacious eating area upstairs. Not cheap by U.K. standards, but probably normal for NY. Atmospheric in a strange kind of way.

We had breakfast here 3 days in a row. We tried the hot bar, fresh juices, smoothies and cook to order. Produce is fresh and service is quick. There's an upstairs sitting area which is quite spacious. Prices are pretty typical for NYC, so no surprises there.

Select your meals from a wide salad and cooked selections in Bain Marie's, pay for them at $9.99 a lb and then either take them back your hotel or eat them upstairs. No tipping and you can order cooked to order as well. Good cheap option for a quick meal.
Good place to eat
Place has good stuff. Ate breakfast 2 days in a row. Go upstairs and relax and eat. Simple good eating. Stayed around the corner.
