Very good Mexican food

By CAROVISA |

Good thing we booked at the restaurant because it was so full. Very good food, good service. The worst part was that we were put on a table where the air conditioning was very high. Pro despite that we really liked it.

REALLY GOOD food, but the service was eh...

By ClaireMc99 |

I love Mexican food so I was excited to eat here. We got the guacamole, queso, and salsa for appetizers. They were all excellent! The salsa was a unique texture (totally smooth and an orange tint) but was SOOO good. The guac was very fresh and we devoured it quite quickly. We had the chicken quesadillas and carne asada for dinner and they were delicious as well. The carne asada was cooked perfectly and was served with a potato cake that was surprising but tasty. Overall the food was excellent but our waiter was quite rude. He never smiled and acted put out when we would ask for something. I'd still go back but would hope for a different server.

Best Mexican restaurant in New York City

By tbs7007 |

I’ve visited this restaurant several times with friends and coworkers and I’m never disappointed. They have many delicious Mexican dishes and even serve a delicious Mexican beer called Cerveza De Los Muertos! Just on the outskirts of Times Square in Hell’s Kitchen, it’s a great spot for a before or after show dining spot.

Another fun & delicious dinner at Toloache, but menu not as novel as years ago.

By RonDog82 |

When we visit NYC, we always go to Toloache. The place has not changed since we started eating there 10 years ago. The chaos of the front door requires you to get a reservation or wait by the stairwell or outside. They pack you in, but it is comfortably tight. The menu has not changed so items that were novel 10 years ago like brisket tacos are now copied everywhere. With that said, the rojas guacamole, brisket taco & pulled pork taco were delicious. i also had the grasshopper taco just to tell our friends that I did. It was crunchy little crickets, but not my favorite. Our server was fast , but responsive to our requests.

Almost missed this one!

By Litany |

My sisters and I visited New York - again - and made a reservation here for dinner before a 7 pm show nearby. We had just come off a lunchtime walking and food tour and were feeling fairly stuffed when we wrapped that up in a flurry of frites, falafal and rich pizza. We were close to cancelling, but - oddly - an hour of rest somehow served to empty us sufficiently that we decided to go for the 5:30 pm reservation. So glad we did! We ordered guacamole to share, and each ordered a different taco main course. Delicious! And the portions were modest, for which we were glad. This ISN'T your beans and rice kind of place, where the plate is mostly those things. What we got were two modest tacos, which was just enough to take the edge off our hunger, but not enough to put us to sleep. Great food! I had the lobster tacos; the others had beef and chicken varieties. We left happy, with coin in our pockets (the prices are reasonable), and happy to discovered this little Mexican gem.

Amazing fresh food

By mumofcrazyboys |

Food was outstanding! We all enjoyed it, even 2 teenagers who are picky! Only reason we have put 4 not 5, is the cabins outside. Didn’t feel vibe of restaurant. But food is definitely 5/5

Great tacos, great drinks!

By breakout35 |

This was the perfect pre-theatre dinner for us. Really solid tacos and drinks before the show. We'll be back!

Best Mexican restaurant of my life

By Silvia S |

Food was absolutely amazing. We had truffle quesadillas and special enchalladas - both recommend by the waiter. On top of the exquisite food and drink (grapefruit mezcalita), the service was impeccable. Shout out to Vanessa and her great customer service skill. Please go and eat here

Unique Flavors - Not Your Standard Idea of Mexican Food

By Ric |

This is a Mexican restaurant with unique takes on most of the dishes - combining different ingredients to make some fantastic flavor combinations while still keeping to traditions. They have an excellent bar. There's limited seating and so a reservation is important. Our only complaint was that our server was slow to take orders, get cocktail refills, and even bring our bill. If you're in Midtown and like Mexican food (not U.S. Mexican fast food), then give this place a try.

Veggie friendly flavorful food and margaritas

By Lisa M |

Staff was friendly and helpful and food was amazing- especially the quinoa paella. Perfect guacamole and margaritas. Early dinner for 7pm show time.

Phenomenal Mexican food, and

By simonknight2010 |

Phenomenal Mexican food, and great mezcalitas. The line up is usually long, being in the theatre district, but well worth it. Grab a seat at the bar if it’s too busy. The food is great and lots of excellent vegetarian options.

Delicious and authentic!

By srohn |

I frequent this restaurant because I love it so much! Everything is delicious. Margaritas, guacamole, ceviche, etc....

Unexpected Mexican

By historyfanatic99 |

We came across Toloache 50 by accident while walking around looking for a place to eat before the theatre. They found us a table without a reservation which is sometimes not easy before the theatre in NY. Sangria was spot on, not too sweet and just the right amount of fruit. Food was delicious and the coconut ice-cream was very authentic. Our expectations were not high when we arrived but we left having had a wonderful mean and can honestly say that it was among the best Mexican food we have had in the city. Definitely will return and i highly recommend this restaurant.

Good pre- or post-theatre choice.

By DoctorJoeE |

More sophisticated than your average Mexican place, in the heart of the theatre district (same block as Gershwin Theatre, where "Wicked" is currently playing). Three choices for guacamole (plain, medium, and spicy), all good -- suggest ordering the "trio", so you can try all three. Shrimp entree is outstanding, carne asada is much better than average. Lobster tacos are great too (actually taste like lobster!). Reasonable pricing (for NYC) too. We went after Sunday matinee (Dear Evan Hansen), and it hit the spot. Wait staff very cordial. Recommended.

A cool (literally cold) find with unique tastes

By The_Twit |

We picked this restaurant before a play since they took lunch reservations. We walked in off the cold street in December and proceeded to...leave our coats on due to the temperature inside! However, I'm glad we stayed for the meal and got to experience different takes on Mexican food. My quesadilla was like no other; the table salsa was more like a savory thick tomato soup - we loved it! I don't know if the lunch portions are smaller than dinner options, but they are pretty small. The water glasses were constantly being refilled - we never went thirsty. I would go back in warmer temps!

I keep coming back.

By Eleanor |

We go to NYC a few times per year and usually visit Toloache. The food is excellent and it’s close to theatre district. The spicy margarita is amazing as are many of the menu items. The only thing I would complain about is that you are rushed. We have been several times and we always feel rushed. We went last night and it was my birthday. Your food and drinks come fast and everything is removed quickly.

New York atmosphere

By Anders |

Great place! Good atmosphere and staff. The food was very good. Focus was on the mexicankitchen. We needed 1,5 to 2 dishes of the mexican dishes to become satisfied. Good beer.

Fantastic drinks, wonderful food, great dessert

By SNDBoston_MA |

We stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant as we looked for food near our hotel. Fantastic margaritas, wonderful tacos. The quinoa paella was more tasty than any quinoa dish has any business being. The tres leches cake was outstanding. All in all a wonderful experience.

Outstanding

By Travelforjoy44 |

What a real gem, lovely decor and great vibe. My server was exceptional who was so friendly and helpful, definitely the best service I have experienced in NYC. The food is a real flavour bomb and just delicious. True, authentic Mexican food with some surprising twists. Highly recommend

A true grasshopper+margarita experience

By Julia S |

A friend brought me here to sample the grasshoppers. We ordered those on their own, along with some guacamole and a beetroot margarita. This is a huge and lively place that I wpuld gladly choose for a fun dinner with frends. We sat on the bar for extra entertainment - the staff were very funny and friendly about having to watch someone whine and struggle (for the 10th time that day surely) with marinated insects in their mouths. The grasshoppers were much softer and more sour than I expected. Not the type of food I would ever crave in life but a great thing to cross off the bucket list in a safe environment. The guacamole and drinks were of course delicious and very welcome considering our choice of appetizer. Would be back any day to initiate more friends into the insect food chain :)

Tacos heaven

By TheGrymza . |

In the center of everything Broadway, non-pretentions place with great tacos. We shared a traditional guacamole, because it's a must (!) and enjoyed each our choice of tacos, mine was Tacos de Langosta - a very tasty dish.

Mexican Hanukkah Menu

By Mark W |

Toloache has been among our favorite Theater District restaurants for many years. We had a delightful brunch there the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It was so good we decided to return for dinner the next Wednesday night before theater. Much to our surprise Toloache was featuring a special Mexican Hanukkah dinner menu - Hanukkah Sangria, a trio of Mexican latkes, a main of brisket, and Mexican Sufganyot - Hanukkah jelly-filled donuts. We substituted brisket tacos for the brisket main, but otherwise ordered the whole menu. Wow! Unique and delicious.

Slightly disappointing

By FrederickWentworth |

Recommended by the Sofitel. Visited twice. The first dinner was good particularly the brussels sprouts and the lemony dessert which were truly exceptional (I forget the rest and we lost the slip). On the second visit, I had the sprouts and lemony dessert once again but we forget the other dishes--they were disappointingly bland (I seem to remember the pulled chicken). Whether this Mexican cuisine has been adapted to Northern tastes I don't know but perhaps we made the mistake of forgetting to ask our adorable waitress what she might recommend. The place is noisy but in a good way--energetic and happy. The welcome is particularly warm. I would certainly recommend this restaurant provided you consult the waitress

Great Value!!

By cruisintheusa |

After a Sunday evening show, Toloache was gracious in accommodating us for dinner. The location is extremely convenient to the theaters and atmosphere was casual and quiet. Food was brought quickly to our table and it was all really good. Portions were just right and the price was perfect. Thank you!

Ok

By Max |

It was just mid. They were packed full and made us sit outside in a booth. Food was ok nothing to great. I also think the price was too much for what I received 2 tacos were $20. 6/10 wouldn’t come back.

Attractive room, noisy, good food

By mhershey |

We enjoyed our main courses-- a unique take on traditional dishes. The house margarita was on the sour side, and the Queso dip had to be cut with a fork to be eaten. A very lively atmosphere (weekend night), not great for conversation.

Unless you hate food, you will LOVE this place

By Sara S |

The food here was some of the best Mexican food I've ever had (and I LOVE Mexican food!). The service was great, the restaurant was beautiful, the food was amazing, and the location is perfect for dinner before/after a show. Definitely don't sleep on this place if you're in NYC.

Our third and last visit

By Helen M |

We have been here on at least 2 previous stays in Manhattan. This visit will be our last. The service wasn’t friendly, the restaurant was freezing cold. We kept our coats on as did most diners in the downstairs section. The food was ok. Not great. Not terrible. Didn’t come close to making up for the other issues. Not cheap. We won’t be back.

I’m no usually a fan of Mexican, but...

By Theyorkshirecurlew |

...this was a real find. Buzzy atmosphere. Terrific cocktails. But the food was best of all. Nice soft tacos and the tuna ceviche was to die for. Great choice for pre theatre dinner.

Simpatico

By Carol M |

The Margaritas are perfect, the food truly delicious, and the staff genuinely welcoming. I wish I could come back every week, but I live on the other side of the continent. Make this a regular if you live in New York, or a wish if you are far away. Do try it!

Food and service to die for

By sanantoniogirl |

Amazing wait staff, food was excellent - interior Mexican. Restaurant upstairs part is SO loud though

First clsss

By TRBUK |

The food was awesome and service was even better. A very busy Friday evening and we arrived 10 minutes late but this was not an issue. Great location and well worth a visit.

Really horrible management

By Cinesanky |

We went there with our toddler and had reserved the table well in advance. The manager and the girl at the counter were totally Not accommodating and not human. The waiter was nice but the manager told us to make room for other guests. We decided to get the check and just leave. Never coming here again.

Lovely place...

By SSS |

Great restaurant!! Loved the dips and main courses, fantastic drinks, lively, crowded - great buzz!! excellent service. I'm from London and we don't have the same quality of Mexican food available. Will return

Very nice "before theater" restaurant

By Glen N |

We chose this place since it was within a couple of blocks of the theater that were going to. The bulk of the seating is along long tables (that you share with others). Since we had a late lunch, we decided to do appetizers for dinner, which was a great choice for us. Everything we tried was great, especially the beef short ribs. All total, the meal probably cost more eating appetizers versus full meals but we would do it again. The service was very good, given it was getting quite crowded (even though it was only by reservation). The wait staff knew we needed to get out by a certain time and they accommodate us with time to spare. PS. If you want to try something exotic, you could try their Oaxacan-style dried grasshoppers (I passed on it).

Loved it

By Tag1126 |

My mom, cousin, and I stopped here for a quick dinner before a show. The host offered us a table but asked us to be finished in time for incoming reservations, which was not a problem. We're so glad we got there when we did because soon after there was quite a crowd waiting, so dinner reservations would be a good idea. The items our table ordered included chips and salsa, roast chicken quesadillas, beans and rice, hot chocolate, and churros. All were delicious. Our server was very good, and the restaurant's decor is very attractive. We are keeping this place in mind for future visits!

Great food at Toloache

By Amy F |

We loved the food at Toloache. We had avacado fries, the carne asada tacos, short rib quesadilla and pollo toloache. The food was amazing, we all wanted seconds. For dessert we had tres leche tarte, flan and churros. All fantastic.

Delicious

By Countrygal9904 |

Awesome atmosphere with a friendly staff. Food was delicious and very fresh. Close to Gershwin Theater where Wicked is.

Fantastic spot to spend NYE dinner!

By melever |

We had a very tasty dinner NYE in the heart of the action. The restaurant emailed passes for show security checkpoints & worked well w NYPD blocking every intersection in the area. We were travelling with our teenage children & everyone had a delicious meal. The guacamole trio was divine - rivalled some favourites! Kids had tacos - come as pairs, so each had an order then shared a 3rd. I had the Toloache grilled shrimp, which was by far, the best entree. The margarita was delicious. Excellent, friendly service - we will definitely go back. Tricky part was getting back around Times Square with the crowds.

Get the queso fundido!

By @melimend |

Food was a bit overpriced for the small servings. Really good quality queso fundido and guacamole. Staff was very friendly and we were seated immediately.

Exceptional Mexican Cuisine

By freutmich |

I last visited Toloache about 8 years ago. I remembered it as a wonderful experience. Back again this time for dinner before a show, the restaurant did not disappoint. Every aspect of our visit was sheer perfection! We were seated immediately (definitely make a reservation) and our server was attentive and informative about the menu. The food was incredible! So fresh and so flavorful. The experience couldn't have been any better. If you're a fan of Mexican cuisine you owe it to yourself to go here.

Excellent & authentic

By Jabrd |

Sunday brunch. Excellent ceviche, guacamole, pozole & huevos rancheros. The cactus fries were interesting.

Amazing Food let down by very poor service

By Getaways1986 |

Ok so the only reason I'm giving 3 starts is due to the quality of the food as if I was reviewing this place based on service it would be very different! The lady who greeted us was lovely as was the guy who kept our glasses topped up but the waitress who took our food orders and waited our table could not have been less helpful/interested if she tried! The food was outstanding and very authentic mexican but the service let it down terribly. Now I am all for tipping and totally understand the American culture and reasoning around this......but I also feel that a high tip should not be 'expected' as a standard and that good service should be provided along with good food to receive this - we tipped around 18% which I already felt was too much based on how rude she'd been but hey its usually the lowest places recommend and she came back and basically refused to allow us to leave until we gave her at least 20% of the bill in a tip, insisting 'The minimum tip we will take in our restaurant is 20%' - to save any further scene or embarrassment I paid much to my husbands disgust but this was super uncomfortable and made the horrendous attitude and service even worse. There are better places for Mexican in NYC where you feel happy with giving a generous tip due to the food and service being equally as good! Would not return!

Mexican Food

By Jeremy H |

Visiting New York and wanting to try different cuisines - Restaurant over the road from my hotel looked interesting so I thought I would try it on the off chance. Did not appreciate bookings were necessary and on arriving saw why as it was packed and queues outside -surely a good sign- but as I was on my own they fitted me in quickly. On presenting me the menu I advised Gabriella, the server, that I wasn't very knowledgeable of Mexican cuisine and she guided me to a delightful meal. Mezcalita cocktail, Guacamole starter (superb quality and flavour) Beef Taco (my choice) and Crispy Brussels sprouts (to die for) main course (entree in the USA) The food was excellent, the service impeccable and I could not fault anything. Sitting outside undercover may not suit everyone but it was what I asked for. I will, if I return to New York, visit again

Great Pre-Show Option

By Jill S |

Wonderful spot for pre-show meal! The food was delicious and the mojito was amazing. Make sure to make a reservation though...pretty busy!

Sophisticated Mexican

By neroseepa |

We stopped in to this charming restaurant for an after theater snack. Fabulous margaritas and mojitos! The guacamole was fresh and tasty (go ahead and order spicy--we got medium and it was not spicy at all). My husband had the tostada de pulpo and I had the tacos de la lechon. Both dishes were excellent. we live in a place that defines good Mexican as large portions, lots of cheese, and a load of rice and beans. This restaurant is NOT about that. Highly recommend!

Excellent restaurant, found

By CarlyLL |

Excellent restaurant, found by googling Mexican restaurants in the area and reserved a table online. When we arrived it was very busy but we were seated straight away upstairs. Lovely food and attentive staff. Would def recommend

Good

By Lameli33 |

Good food but expensive... but believe me, it's worth it. Buono però un po’ caro... amche se vale la pena provarlo

What a pleasant surprise!

By hamiltondental10 |

We needed to get a meal before going to a Broadway show, so found Toloache on TripAdvisor. Love the interior of this place! The staff and service was excellent and the meals exquisite!

Delicious!

By Jelizaveta J |

Four years between two visits and the food is still the most delicious! Great service and convenient location.

Excellent!

By Tony W |

Came in here for a quick bite to eat before walk down to Jersey Boys, and very please we did. Service is quick and efficient but still very attentive and friendly. Great food too!

Good food for after a show but noisy

By Picker2014 |

We went here after the show wicked so around 10pm. The food was good. We had the guacamole, to start which was fresh and tasty. I ordered the chicken quesadilla which was good. My husband ordered the lechón prensado which was really good and a huge meal- we took half of it back to our hotel. The staff were busy, efficient and more functional than friendly but I think that was because it was busy. We found it noisy but definitely worth going to. Maybe sit downstairs as we were upstairs.

Excellent service and food(even vegetarian!)

By STARWisc |

Excellent food and service! We ordered vegetarian items and they were all super delicious. Service was prompt and friendly. Highly recommend!

Good mexican cuisine

By SylofQC |

This was our last night in NYC, and we wanted to try something different. The restaurant was full and the dishes we choose were very good (steak and salmon). It goes a little beyond the typical tex-mex that you generally find in the US. Even though we had a reservation, it took a little while for us to get seated but fortunately, the second floor is a little less crowded and noisy than the first one.

Mexico in the heart of Midtown had very good service and both thought we could come back again next visit.

By TravelgirlsTennessee |

We made a reservation for dinner during restaurant week. When we came in a bit early we went to the bar for a drink and to wait for our table. They seated us about 30 minutes late and near a bussing station but it ended up being ok. We ordered the guacamole which is as good as you have heard. We then each got two different dinners from the special menu and were very pleased. My husband got a margarita at the bar and said it was great. W

Great Mexican food in a great location

By LancLass29 |

As a solo diner, it’s always interesting to see how I’m treated when I visit a restaurant and here I was offered the option of a table of the bar and when I requested a table, was given one in a good location. The staff looked after me and I enjoyed the food - especially the churros, which were hot and crispy with two delicious dipping sauces of chocolate and dulce de leche. It was good value for money and I will return with friends in the future!

Not to our taste

By Sheila8889 |

Don’t like leaving these reviews. But we rely on trip advisor for truthful reviews. Didn’t enjoy this place. Authentic Mexican for sure and appreciated that it didn’t do french fries etc. We hoped for more but it was so bland. Waiter said look at the menu when we asked for advice on what to order or how much. Wouldn’t recommend

Delicious with great service

By Tracey H |

This was my second experience at Toloache; the first trip happening over six years ago. I had loved the margaritas and the atmosphere so came back with friends for a second visit. I wasn’t disappointed as the experience was just as good as I remembered. Friendly and helpful service. Tasty Mexican food; serving size was perfect for me with guacamole and chips to start. We spent 4 days in NYC and this was one of our best meals.

The worst

By Nena |

I normally don’t like to leave bad reviews but this place really had bad service and bad food. To top it off it was expensive

Tasty and Convenient Mexican Option in Midtown

By traveldad2018 |

Family of 4 visiting on a crowded Friday night. Waited a bit for reserved table and Manager sent free guacamole to the table when seated. (Guac was mild.) Tasty food, had ceviche assortment, many taco options, corn and brussel sprouts. Server very pleasant, notwithstanding the crowds. Would return.

Great meal and service

By augiefroggy |

Needed a meal for a large group beside the Gershwin theatre. This was perfect. Although the restaurant is small, we had a reservation and were seated right away. The server handled our group of 11 well. The food was fresh and delicious. Great find in the perfect location for our afternoon. Portions were not large but appropriate.

Excellent food, gets very noisy. Snd fairly tight quarters indoors. Better dining during the week as weekends are heavil

By Allan S |

The food is quite good, a bit higher priced but quality wise quite good. They have a variety of tacos, enchiladas and other fidhes not usually found in Mexican restaurants. The diecisls are good value snd a bit unusual. Service is quite good as well

Great setting and superb food!

By traveltradealum |

This is a wonderful place for an elegant Mexican meal! Set aside your everyday notions of tacos and burritos. Try instead a quesadilla of huitlacoche or tacos with lechón. Don’t forget to try the flan for dessert. Oh, and as for cocktails, the mezcalita de toronja is a must! Add to the great food, fabulous service and Toloache will be a place you return to again and again!

Wonderful high-end Mexican food

By Jeffrey D |

we ate here after a Broadway show and the restaurant was still hopping. Delicious and imaginative Mexican food, but they also have many of the standards. Vegetarian options - including a nice Quinoa paella. Fun waiters. Delicious margarita variations. Casual decor. Just a few block walk from the theatre district.

Lovely Mexican restaurant with great food!

By AVTraveller |

First time at this Mexican restaurant. I had a nice private room on the outside booth with my friends from Italy. I ordered different dishes so we can taste a little bit of everything: quesadillas de pollo, shrimp tacos, carne asada and of course guacamole and a side of sweet plantains. The food was excellent, tasty and good portion sizes for us to share. We finished our dinner ordering the flan, the tres leches de limon and churros. The dessert presentation was wonderful and all of 3 desserts were delicious. The Staff was very nice, polite and fast to serve even if we were sitting outside. I will remember to come back to this restaurant, very nice experience.

Great Mexican option in a city full of choices!

By VictoriousJane |

Everything about this Mexican restaurant is enjoyable and we wouldn't hesitate to return on our next visit to the city. We were seated immediately (upstairs which made our 6yo extremely happy), our server was super friendly, and our food came out in a timely matter. Everything we ordered was great, the menu is large enough that there is something for everyone.

Good food and cozy premises

By AFnytt |

We were very pleased with our visit to Toloache. The premises are very cozy and the food is high quality authentic Mexican food. There were four of us, and everyone was very satisfied with what they ordered. Would particularly recommend "Birria y consome", taco with braised brisket.

Very enjoyable meal

By YBtravel |

Wonderful family meal. Quick service. Great selection of meals. Upper and lower level. You must climb the stairs to get to the second level. Camarones Toloache was fresh and delicious. Enchiladas Borrachas was an abundant amount of food and enjoyed by my family members.

DELICIOUS and full of flavor

By msa23_2000 |

We saw the outside of the restaurant and almost turned away. So glad we didn’t. The food is incredible, full of flavor. We tried all the different types of guacamole- each excellent in its own right. The enchiladas were excellent. If you are in midtown or going to a show I highly recommend. Great service, high quality Mexican food.

Good place to have dinner in NY

By LorenaALacerda |

It’s a really nice place to have dinner. Good food in a beautiful place. The guacamole is amazing. Also the tacos and quesadillas were perfect.

Destination restaurant - this place will wow you

By slemishm |

10 mins from Time Square is a very classy upmarket Mexican restaurant with fantastic value food….do not visit NYC without a visit Service was just outstanding from water to drinks to food White table cloths and subdued lighting make this a great place for special occasions but close to theatres if you are catching a show 2 very well behaved 10 year olds were enjoying it while I was there Live Mexican musicians performed for a short set The bill shocked me - very inexpensive for what we had ( for NYC ) Highly recommended by a local person - thank you!! Made my day….

Excellent Mexican place in NY

By LTCSooner |

Tacos were great, guacamole and chips as well as quesadillas were all good and were small dishes! Great!

High Quality Mexican Fare

By Kevin V |

Great ambiance and service at this eatery. Not a huge menu if you aren’t a taco fan but what they serve is very tasty. Guac is very good and the queso fundido is phenomenal!! We followed up with an assortment of tacos, including the carne asada, shrimp and the birria. The birria tacos were our favorites. Highly recommend!

What a find!

By stevec321 |

We were looking for somewhere handy for the Gershwin Theatre....and this place is right next door. What a great little find. We sat at the bar and the serving staff were really friendly and helpful. Fantastic tacos (loved the carnitas) and ceviche too. And a pretty good Margarita!

Great Mexican Bistro

By Michael S |

This is a wonderful restaurant. I had the “Pollo Toloache” which was a chipotle-marinated chicken breast with Mexican cheeses and pinto bean dumpling and sweet corn, and it was delicious. My wife, daughter and granddaughter shared the Quesadilla de Pollo and the Quesadilla de Camaron (shrimp) and said they were scrumptious. The meal was the best Mexican dinner we’d had. The service was good and the double tequilas were large. We will definitely dine again when we return to NYC.

Must go

By Raven R |

Great atmosphere, great food and drinks !! The staff was friendly and inviting , attentive! We went after a Broadway play warning you will be full !!! We had a hard time walking back to the car and recommended for friends' families Couples

10/10 would recommend

The staff was super friendly and helpful with explaining the menu. The guacamole was amazing and so was our meal!! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming with a touch of class.

City break

By JMc082013 |

Fantastic family meal. Delicious, food, nachos and guacamole were delicious as were the tacos. Don’t be put off by the outside of the restaurant.

Tasty

By ybqueen |

Came highly recommended by family. Food was good and service speedy. Wanted place close to Wicked and it is next door. Kept it simple. Guac and chicken tacos. Dessert and cappuccino. Food tasty. Small portions but adequate. Husband has contact allergy to cayenne and hot peppers. Asked for food that works for him and the sole option was grilled salmon with chef omitting slice. It was very good. Place packed! If fan of quality Mexican should go!

Its okay

By Florian Thonen |

The food was alright. I had the Frutas Guacamole and Tacos. In my opinion the price of the food didn’t match the quality of the food though.

Outstanding Gourmet Mexican

By Mark W |

Toloache, according to Google, is a flower indigenous to Mexico and the Southwestern US, known in English by many names, including “Moonflower.” It is often used to make love potions and hallucinogenic concoctions. Toloache the restaurant is a heavenly trip to Mexican gastronomy at its best, far superior to any hallucination. Three of us ordered brunch in a variety of their specialties, which we shared. Guided by our charming and friendly server Sharon, we selected the mild guacamole, followed by the tuna ceviche, followed by the suckling pig tacos and huevos rancheros. Each was exquisite. At Sharon’s suggestion, we saved the pan dulce de leche (translated in the menu as “French toast”) for dessert. By whatever name, that was the ultimate dish, as wonderful a dessert or French toast as you can imagine. Two thick slices of egg soaked brioche, separated by a layer of sliced banana, topped with fresh berries and maple syrup. Words do not do it justice. I have spent a lifetime loving Mexican food. Growing up in Texas, I was often in Mexico - all different regions. Always in search of the ultimate Mexican cuisine, I enjoyed a huge variety of Mexican dishes. Nothing was ever better than at Toloache.

To try

By Elena B |

Unlike many local manhattan here you eat well. Friendly and helpful staff, fast, clean service and adequate prices. Truly unforgettable guacamole sauce, fresh!

Consistently excellent!

By randstyr |

I'll put it simply -- my very first choice for Mexican cuisine in the City. Always excellent, and a very pleasant experience. The staff is awesome as well... always friendly and accommodating. Will keep on returning!

It was OK

By sunnyshine579 |

The quesadilla was tiny! We had planned to split it but was surprised how small it was. I didn't recognize anything on the menu except the quesadilla. They didn't even have a queso dip of any kind. The salsa was good as was the quesadilla but tiny. I wouldn't go here again.

Great Tacos, reasonably priced

By T Bone |

This place is popular. We were recommended this place from a friend who had visited NYC before. We had to book a day in advance to get in. The food and drinks are reasonably priced, and what we found was that the food was surprisingly filling. When the tacos came out, I didn't think it looked that filling, but it certainly was and also very good flavours. I would definitely recommend a visit to friends or family visiting NYC.

Fantastic Pre Theatre choice

Fantastic service and food. Wonderful atmosphere. Wonderful pre theatre choice. We LOVED the salmon, enchiladas y margaritas! Incredibly fast and friendly service. BUENISIMO!

Home away from Home

Smoked Whitefish Guacamole...it is amazing! The trio is delicious, and the tacos where out of this world. The staff very friendly and it was a great find! Great margaritas and Negra Modelo.

Great!

By JAlex1992 |

I came here for lunch with my friend. The pork belly was absolutely delicious, and the cabbage salad that comes with it was super fresh. The fish entree was gigantic. So that was definitely a pleasant surprise.

Unbeliebable tacos

By CarpeZythum |

Stopped there before a show. No reservation but they were able to seat us outside. Chips were average, but the salsa was fantastic. We ordered the lobster and beef rib tacos. BEST TACOS WE'VE EVER HAD. And we both love tacos. The food did come out a little late, but still with plenty of time to catch the show. Someone who seemed like the manager gave us free shots of a decent tequila because of that. Service was good otherwise. I enjoyed my margarita and the wife liked her mojito. I definitely recommend this place.

Not a good experience

By Rachel88089 |

Found the food here quite bland and the service wasn’t great. The quesadilla appeared deep fried with grease falling off it. No jalapeños on the menu. The black beans and rice were ok but I think I’m just trying to find something positive to say. Was definitely a disappointment

The margaritas were one of

By Elaine J |

The margaritas were one of the best I have ever had. The lobster tacos were my favourite, but the guacamole and short rib quesadilla were also delicious. So many good choices! If you’re feeling brave, try the grasshopper tacos. It was a bit expensive, but very good.

Holy guacamole!!

By Todd4trips |

Oh goodness, the guacamole is freaking amazing. I love guacamole, we got the spicy one. I forgot what it was called. But I highly going to dinner here. I’m a huge fan of Mexican food and this place did not disappoint. Not to mention the customer service, they were fantastic! Pretty much our water glass never was empty. If you like Mexican food I highly recommend paying a visit here.

Late night bites

By RxVacation |

Four of us stopped in for some late night bites and drinks and everything was great. Their Tortilla soup was delicious as well as their appetizer menu tacos. The De Lechón and Costilla & Tuétano tacos were delicious. It’s definitely not your ordinary Mexican restaurant, it’s an upscale Bistro with a tasty culinary twist. Their table salsa which they make with chipotle is so good!! Too bad we found this place on our last night in NY.

Amazing dinner!!

By JennCTravels |

I visited this restaurant on Sept. 15 - the Chile en nogada was soo delicious, the sauce was TDF! The quesadillas with flor de huitlacoche was also delicious! 2nd time ordering those. Also recommend the mango margarita!

Try Toloache for a little menu adventure

By pjhahn |

Our friends treated us to dinner at the Toloache on 50th and it was a nice surprise of a creative menu. We all liked the trio of guacamole moles - one with pomegranate. And all of our drinks had a twist on the usual flavors which made them adventurous and yummy. I loved the Costilla and Tuetano tacos (beef short ribs with a kick). It’s a busy place, probably suitable for pre-theater dining. But fun with knowledgeable, friendly staff.

Disappointed

By uuperiwinkle |

This restaurant was more casual than I expected, and the food was routine. I had shrimp that was overdone. The guacamole was good.

Sooooo warm in private booth

By Jrbsmom166 |

Sooooo warm in private outdoor booth for two. I had to take off my winter coat. That alone was worth the visit. The food was creative and delicious. The service was very good.

Loved the athmosphere, food

By MXA70 |

Loved the athmosphere, food was tasty. Dishes are not big. Good variety and overall a good dining ecxperience. I had the chef signature cocktail and although pricey was good

Delicious food at great prices!

By Babs_NJ |

Delicious authentic Mexican food at incredible prices! We sat at the bar, and had excellent service. The guacamole was some of the best I’ve ever had! I can’t wait to return here on my next visit.

Fantastic, authentic Mexican food

By Brian |

Toalache is a stone throw from Times Square. It's an oasis amongst the lack of really good restaurants in the area and a secret I didn't want to reveal. However, it's too good to not tell the world about it. Toalache serves delicious, authentic Mexican food with a contemporary twist. Some would say the portions are a bit small and the prices a bit high but I personally think it's good value for money considering the other banal and expensive restaurants in the area. It's always busy and we had to book a day or so in advance as you rarely get a table just walking in off the street. The restaurant is not that big and it can get a bit noisy but this makes for a buzzy, vibrant atmosphere. The best restaurant in the Times Square area.

Authentic Mexican. Lovely atmosphere! Great margaritas! We will definitely come back!

By Rebecca Y |

We wanted authentic Mexican near Times Square and we found it! We love the atmosphere! We love the margaritas and the service is excellent!

Great spot in Theater district of NYC

By Cristina R |

Great casual dinner at a wonderful Mexican restaurant. The food was nothing like we’re used to in the Mexican restaurants near our home. We started with the ceviche sampler which was delicious. We then moved on to their version of tacos which were amazing. The coffees were very good and my husband enjoyed the different margaritas. The seating was a little tight but we didn’t have a reservation and they took us right in even though they were very busy. I would definitely come back when in NYC.

Lovely food

By wilanow |

I had tacos and my daughters had quesadillas. The food was excellent as was the service. Only negative point is that the portions were not very big , which is unusual for USA. If I had known I would of ordered more as left restaurant feeling hungry still.

Quesadilla are disappointing

By dfinnes |

We had dinner there last night before going to the play “The Book of Mormon”. The place gets very crowded but the service was good. I love quesadillas so I ordered the beef. I was so upset. It was like a dry pizza with a little beef on top. Not at all what I’m used to. It ruined the meal for me. ☹️

Just less than distinctly average...passable

By Hezmate |

Ate there. Guacamole great. Good start. Ceviche not good. Smelled and tasted bad. Brisket taco ok. Chicken thing very dry. All in all, it was just below ok. Whole experience was over and done with within 20 mins. No way that food is cooked fresh to order. Food arrived before the drinks which is always concerning! I wouldn’t recommend it or return.

Calling All Mexican Food Lovers!

By Lynn W |

The food at this place is exceptional! The guacamole was delicious and the tacos were great. Cocktails are also very good. The atmosphere is small, but very clean and comfortable. Our waitress Danna was attentive, friendly, and efficient.

Best Mexican food in NYC and Time Square- make a reservation- well worth it

By Jayson L |

By far the best Mexican restaurant in NYC and beyond. The service was superb, friendly and attentive. Drinks were great both the beers and the sangrias. Appetizers were delicious. We started with the three different guacamoles. They were different spice levels, none too hot. Flavors were regular and chipotle and a third. One better than the next. An assortment of appetizers including quesadillas with truffle oil, different ceviches each were wonderful. Main dishes if you have room were delicious. The dessert assortment including lemon flavored tres leche- marvelous, chocolate one was great.

OMG Best Tacos!

By Carly E |

We’ve had our share of delicious tacos being from Texas but OMG - their Suadero (brisket) tacos is one of the best I’ve ever had and I am a total food snob. My mouth is watering thinking about them. The desserts were fantastic too! I don’t think there’s anything on the menu that isn’t fabulous. Make a reservation and go!

They will never see me again, too many better restaurants to go to in the theater district

By Marlene O |

We had a 6 o’clock reservation as we were going to see show. I got to the restaurant at 5:45. I was told my table was not ready, although there appeared to be many available tables. At 6 , asked the hostess again. She responded that no table was available , and she did not know when we would be seated. She was extremely rude, as was her fellow host. Do not take reservations , if you cannot honor, especially when many who dine there do go to the theater. . We left , had a lovely dinner at another restaurant. I have eaten at Tolache on the Upper East Side, as I do live there. Never had a problem. Maybe this restaurant should hire more professional people to represent them , Marlene oren

Mexican restaurant in Midtown

By Dan P. |

Went for dinner after spending the day at Rockefeller Center. Ordered the carne asada entree which came with guacamole, potato gratin and mole-cheese enchilada. The guac and potatoes were good, the steak was OK but the mole was not good. Service was OK. The tables are very close to one another in front room of the restaurant.

Amazing mexican restaurant

By RW |

Been here five years ago. And this time in NYC We had to come back. Amazing place. Amazing food. The pictures speak for it self. Highly recommended. Should make reservations.

TImes Square Gem

By kyle |

I was a little bit reluctant to try a restaurant in Times Square. But, the service and the food were outstanding. We had the guacamole and chips and I swear that for 60 straight minutes, a woman prepared fresh guacamole. Drinks were outstanding. We go to Mexico in 90 days and this just made us wish that it was sooner.

Pre show dinner

By John and Helen |

Great atmosphere. Went befire watching Wicked at the gershwin next door. Guacamole and the salda was delicious, beef tacos great and quesadillas were tasty. We just grazed rather than got a main. Sauvignon blanc wine was slightly ropey but the pinot grigio was decent

Beat Tacos ever! Miguel is the man!

By Mary H |

Hands down the best tacos I’ve ever had! If you’ve read my reviews, you know I’ve been all over the world. Miguel is the man! The drinks were so well balanced! Peligrosa was my favorite! My husband had the lobster tacos and I had the short rib and bone marrow. There was the perfect amount of spice, Crunch, and creaminess from the bone marrow. The tuna ceviche was so flavorful with the yuzu that I wanted to slurp the whole bowl! The pomegranate guacamole was so perfect with the sweetness of the fruit and butteriness of the avocado. The chips were perfectly salted. We can’t wait to come again. Eat at the bar and talk to Miguel!

Incredible and delicious

By Denise B |

Awesome Food!! Loved this restaurant. Incredible food and service. My daughter and I ate here before a show and it was incredible. I highly recommend

Didn’t live up to expectations

By christyhenderson |

I had seen really good reviews for this place and had a recommendation from a friend. The starter of guacamole & chips was nice. As were the cocktails. Unfortunately for me that’s where it ended. I had the enchiladas for main course & I would really recommend the restaurant changes this dish. Mexican is my favourite food and it was a let down, especially given the price of the menu. It had no flavour and was literally chicken in a wrap with some stuff on top that didn’t add to flavour. It had a strange sauce all around it which didn’t work. I don’t write this to put people off I really do write this as a direct message to the restaurant to say that this particular dish does not work. I’m sure there are other lovely things on the menu.

Great service and food

By John F |

We had dinner here last night. The food and service were excellent! Everything from the tacos to the halibut came out perfect.

Buzzing and delicious

By Meryl A |

This is a beautiful looking restaurant with a real buzz to it. The food was quite unusual and delicious and they serve great cocktails too.

Superb discovery

By Susanne |

Excellent welcome, like almost everywhere in NY ❤️ the work of the tips is very good. But we were really well received! Good quality food, real Mexican dishes, a change from Tex-Mex fast food and it feels good!!

This is the best Mexican food I have ever had!

By tms215 |

This place has friendly, fast service. It is set up perfectly for COVID protocol. Limited drink menu but a liberal wine pour. Now for the food…WOW, WOW, WOW! Every bite is a burst of flavor. Obviously fresh and amazing. If you want to address your “Mexican food craving”? This is worth a trip from wherever you are in the City. You will want to bring friends here, local or visitors

“I love this place”.

By William Parker |

“I love this place”. That is what I hear from everyone who come to Toloache. The vibe, the service and the food above all will drag you in and leave you wanting more. From The Enchiladas Barrachas, to the Brussel Sprouts, to the truffle quesadilla, to the Guacamole, it is impossible to be disappointed. Even the deserts, The Churros, oh the Churros. There are endless options that will encapsulate what you want in a perfect New York night. Their style also offers all types of cuisines within one. It is also a place that you will not stop yourself from coming back to. It is beyond joyous and welcoming and I couldn’t recommend it enough.

Great Lunch

By DavidH |

We had a very authentic Mexican lunch here. It is a very good midtown location, and wonderful respite from pounding the pavement. Staff provided just the right level of service. If we had a restaurant like this in Sydney, Australia, we would be regulars.

Underwhelming and overrated

By Claudia E |

We chose this restaurant because of the high reviews. I genuinely am not a very picky person, but when you don’t receive for what you pay I don’t feel well served. We ordered the quesadilla and the tacos, which tasted good, but the portions were too small for the price.

Great food. Open late!

By Scott B |

Very good, high-end, authentic Mexican food at a reasonable price. Attentive service. Cool vibe. Big thing is it’s open late during the week. Our flight was super late and this place made it so that we could still have a great meal on a Monday night.

Always a Favorite!

By Bonnie J |

This is our 3rd trip back to this restaurant and we will continue. The staff are exceptional - professional, caring, gracious. The food is terrific and authentic with a gourmet touch. They have an impressive array of tequilas and their margaritas are classically crafted. The Manager, Jorge, greets you as if you're a family friend and we noticed this was not just happening for us. Our waiter, Juan is both a character and a professional. We had another great evening at Toloache

Excellent, Authentic and GREAT service

By Scott N |

We chose this place based upon TripAdvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. The food was SLAMMING good. The Guacamole was fresh the ‘Ritas were Delish and the tacos were knock it out of the park. Jesse does great job taking care of us and paid special attention to insuring our 9 year old was very happy. CouldNot ask for more. Of the Thousands of choices in Manhattan this place is definitely worth the Uber!!!!!

Queen of Guacamole

By 712Cindy1963 |

I'll admit, we were skeptical as to why a theater-district little Mexican place was wracking up rave TripAdvisor reviews. The answer is: It is in fact exactly that good. We found it randomly on a Monday night Broadway trip from out-of-state, and could not stay away; we returned on Wednesday night bringing friends with us. Hidden behind a hastily-constructed covid-plywood exterior is a warm two-level space of punched-brass lanterns, warm wall mosaics, a clean-lined bar, turquoise sugar-skull wallpaper and under-lit Mexican antiques. The food exceeds the atmosphere. It starts with the quacamole, produced all night by the quacamole queen, a woman holding down the center of the restaurant skillfully wielding her enormous chef knife on a never-ending vat of avocadoes, blended by hand in three stone mortars to create Toloache's traditional, frutas, and rojo guacamoles. Fortunately they don't make you choose -- order the trio and you'll not be disappointed. While you're at it, ask them to bring their house-made habenero sauce; it's not on the menu but you don't want to miss it. I make hot sauce, so I'm a bit of a snob about it, but the smooth texture, subtle burn and sweet citrus notes makes this one well worth exploring. The tacos camaron were layered with flavor, a balanced blend of garlic and tamarind. The tacos pescado sported a crispy, flavorful fluke. Friends had the carne asado and the tostado de pulpo, and were floored by the color, texture and taste. As good as dinner was, we almost forgot about our entrees after we ran away to marry our desserts and live happily ever after with them -- so whatever you have for dinner, leave room. The flan, topped with caramel and ...wait for it...popcorn (yes!) is fabulous. The churros, with dark chocolate and dulce sauces, are exquisite. The merangue, with bursts of lemon and berry, is just right. And exceedingly friendly, helpful waitstaff, too. Ayup, it's that good. Best make a reservation.

Cozy place for a nice dinner

By Romyhermans |

It’s a very cute place and the staff was lovely. We could sit at the patio which was a little bit cold sometimes because of the wind, but still okay. The food is good and tasteful, but the portions were a little small in comparison to the price. All in all a good evening!

Pleasant lunch

By ilkkats |

Just happened to walk by so I was surprised to end up in this small, comfortable place enjoying a very good lunch. Excellent margarita paired with a delicious fish taco. Friendly, prompt service. Flan was OK and the recommended Tequila Cream drink may have been a little over the top for sweetness.

They do not honor reservations

By DanBoy11 |

Went (or tried) to go to Toloache-Midtown this Saturday Dec 7. Had a reservation made days ago. When we got to restaurant, they made us wait and told us for half an hour that the table we were supposed to have was paying. They also set up two groups of 6 and 8 over our reservation. We left. I know the place is busy. It they should look after their clients.

Solid haute Mex. Avoid the theater crowd!

By Robert Matsuoka |

We had an early show and wanted a dinner after. Toloache is always a favorite, though J was unsure after our last visit wasn't quite as good as usual. But we're glad we did. It was restaurant week, their menu had some very nice dishes. Service as excellent as always. Prices weren't insane as they are in some NYC places these days. Glad to see they haven't lost a step!

Very good Mexican food in a great place

By Flavgodoy |

We went there for a late lunch and had delicious drinks and very tasty fresh food. The chips were warm and crispy and the guacamole trio was so good ! Also had tacos as a main dish, and although they were good, I found the meat a bit greasy. The employees were very nice. I would highly recommend for drinks and appetizers!!!

Amazing .

By Patrick Pastor |

An excellent restaurant for dinners with friends, family, lovers... Very good service!! A very varied and delicious menu!! That evening we had a Tuna Tiradito, a Flautas de Camaron, a Brocheta de Salmon, a Chile en Nogada, a Carajillo, a Tres Leches De Limon. Everything was delicious!

A nice surprise

By Marco Savino P |

A nice surprise in the area. Chosen because one of the places accepting online reservations, it revealed very interesting with marvellous food and reasonable prices I had a salad, very tasty, and a chicken, very well marinated

Just OK

By DanaPointMom |

I wouldn't go back. With all of the amazing choices in NYC, why settle for ok? FREEZING COLD! Frigid 34-degree Jan. temp. & our trio had to sit at the Bar, (despite having a reservation & plenty of open tables at 4:30 PM on a Sunday afternoon). Every time the door opened we/& our food got colder & colder. One of our 3-meals had to be sent back as unsatisfactory, but the other two were mediocre at best. Overpriced entrees that were more equivalent to tapas.

Okay

By Robyn |

Average experience. Portions very small and lacked flavour, orders beef and chicken quesadillas. Expensive for what it was. Felt very rushed by our server, being asked to order drinks etc before finishing previous, bringing bill before drinks finished, server not overly friendly. Probably wouldn’t recommend, only booked as close to theatre.

They got it all. And then some.

By zast |

I cannot say enough about this restaurant. First... Jorge.. you were amazing and had the best recommendations. The food was off the charts and I could drink the cocktails every day. What a treat and we'll always recommend you to friends coming to NY!

a wonderful discovery in midtown.

By Wayne_Finke |

outstanding Mexican cuisine, best guacamole in a very pleasant ambience in midtown. Service punctual and polite helping to explain dishes that we did not know

Great Mexican place in NYC

By Adriana425 |

Went with friends to this small Mexican restaurant near Times Square. The food was delicious and the drinks even better!! Two of us had the chicken quesadilla and the other had enchiladas. The waiter and other staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. Had fun and would return the next time I'm in the city.

Great Mexican Restaurant in NYC

By Michael S |

Third time and the food was once again delicious. I love the Pollo Toloache - chipotle-marinated chicken breast with Mexican cheese, pinto bean dumpling, and sweet corn. My wife loves the Camarones Toloache, which is roasted garlic shrimp and black beans. The drinks are wonderfully large. The service was a little slow this time, but I highly recommend the restaurant.

Yummy after the theater

By Gardendaze |

Tolache was a great escape from the crush of theater goers who all hit the sidewalk at the same time on Sunday evening. We were seated quickly, servce was great, and the food was far better than expected in such a tourist intense area as Times Square. The guacamole and salaa were top notch, and the quinoa paella healthy and delicious.

Affordable, yummy Mexican

By Kerribear17 |

My friend and I chose to eat here before seeing Hamilton. We chose a 5 pm time just in case (show at 7). I was surprised at how quickly we were through here, nice quick service. Perfect. Wait staff was very pleasant. I had the Birria tacos. Very good! My friend did a chicken quesadilla. You will enjoy. My favorite was the traditional guacamole. Probably the best I've ever had!! And I think the bill was just $55. Nice for my first night out in NYC. I'd definitely return and recommend this place to others.

Delicious!

By betharooni |

We’re we’re there on a Sunday night after the theatre rush was over. We had the Spicy Guacamole, Tuna Ceviche, Brisket tacos, and Pork Tacos. For dessert we had the churros. Everything was delicious. I would have ordered more brisket tacos but was saving room for dessert. It’s a bit expensive but worth it.

Great food

An awesome find in the culinary desert that is Times Square. Great guacamole and chips! Really enjoyed our meal and the server was quick and friendly. Good ambiance too.

Great find in heart of broadway. Pre matinee lunch. Service great, food terrific. Have the queso fundido with chorizo. Tacos with steak were great with just a hint of spice and black beans were excellent. Will return for dinner at some point.

Amazing food. Wow, I was positively

Amazing food. Wow, I was positively surprised by this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, the margaritas great and the service immaculate. This is a restaurant I’d return to any day.

High priced snacks

By Kitty272727 |

We visited the downtown Toloache and like it very much, so we came back to this one despite previously finding it deafeningly noisy with rather average in food. Maybe brunch is just not the meal to have here. It was once again very noisy. I had a quesadilla that was very small, advertised as having truffles and huitlacoche (two of my favorite ingredients). I smelled the truffle, but I think it was just truffle oil. Four or five flakes of huitlacoche (half the size of my pinky nail) were tasteless because of their smallness. The rice and beans accompaniment were negligible. My companions had a small portion of plain French toast with syrup and a small hamburger. We all left hungry, but were pleased to get out of the noise.

So So Good!!

By Chris C |

We were in NYC in August and found this gem. We LOVED it!! Nervously, after telling friends all about it, we came back. And, it was nothing short of amazing!! Truly! The food is great!!! The service is spectacular!!! And the drinks are out of this world!! Needless to say, this will be a stopover now on every trip to the city. Our table has the pork, the salmon, carnitas & carne asada along with several different margaritas & guacamole. You really can’t go wrong!

Great Mexican food!

Amazing Mexican food! The flavors are incredible on everything we had. selection of Margarita’s and Mexican beers

Good food and friendly staff

By Anna85000 |

Great food. Very authentic feel. I visit even time I go to NYC, and this last time did not disappoint. Quite unassuming from the outside, but great atmosphere, very friendly staff and good food. Good cocktails and reasonably priced vs other places in NYC. Staff very accommodating. We were sitting just underneath the aircon unit and were absolutely frozen. Staff was unable to turn it down but they offered us another table which was greatly appreciated.

Casual, charming, and excellent eats

By WanderlustGita |

The restaurant has a casual atmosphere, but charmingly decorated and an authentic feel. We enjoyed the 3 guacamole appetizer, with chips done just right, as well as our drinks... mojitos, margaritas, and Sangria. We chose either tacos or enchiladas for our main meal, which everybody enjoyed, and the proportions were just right... not too large. Definitely recommend.

Excellent food and service!!!!

By Karen |

Excellent food and service!!!! Everything is clean and desinfected. William the waiter is very friendly!!!

Delivered what the menu promised.

By The Bear |

Ate lunch there so the restaurant was very quiet. But it’s a nice place so can see it would have a cool atmosphere when busy. Staff friendly and efficient and the food was very tasty indeed. Bill wasn’t too bad also which is saying something for New York. We both enjoyed it and would recommend.

Good Mexican food with a difference

By rockstaff |

Nice, small restaurant that serves good Mexican food. They were very accommodating and the dishes they recommended didn’t disappoint.

best service I've had in ages--and great food too

By Nora M |

A friend suggested we meet here for a quick dinner and drinks before The Music Man. The food was delicious, the margaritas were terrific, and the service was just amazing. Honestly, I've rarely had such good service! The food was spot on, too--great balance between trendy good (birria tacos), traditional delicious (al pastor) and vegetarian options.

Good

By pickytraveller66 |

This restaurant was recommended by a friend, and indeed it was a very good choice. Pleasant atmosphere and tasty food. We had ceviche taster and several tacos, of which each had a distinct flavour, served in a soft taco. Service was good as well. The con? High price tag for what is basically a finger food.

Perfect meal before seeing Wicked!

By 716familytravelers |

Came here for dinner before seeing Wicked at 7pm. Theatre is literally right next door! Our reservation was for 5:15 and we arrived a few minutes late, which was not an issue, thankfully. We were seated immediately upstairs. The atmosphere was super charming (trendy Mexican vibe). We let the server know we were going to the show next door and she indicated we had plenty of time. Ordered the guacamole and a mojito to start, both of which came out extremely fast. We ordered the chicken enchiladas and chicken tacos. Everything was delicious. Tacos are smaller street tacos with corn tortillas, with an order consisting of two tacos. We couldn’t even finish the guacamole and the enchiladas as the portions were very generous! We left around 6:30 and had plenty of time to get through the security line at the theatre and to our seats. Highly recommend eating here before seeing Wicked!!

Tasty but pricey

By 621Tinap |

We went in October 2019, service was great. They seem to has tasting size plates. Ordered a quesadilla was 4 mini shells with cheese on top and truffle. It was tasty but felt a bit pricey for the serving size. Food was good, service was great.

Fantastic Food

By victoria924 |

Fantastic food, made with love. So tasty and great quality. Great service too, and lovely surroundings. We visit here every year and can always rely on it to be great....we can't wait to return next year. The guacamole and beef skirt is our favourite.

Flavorful food and nice ambience

By Brenda W |

This two floor restaurant is great for date night. We ordered the mango house margarita, ceviche, shrimp taco and lobster taco. Both were amazing and we couldn’t agree on our favorite. The churros were a nice dessert ending. Prices were reasonable. The rice and beans weren’t necessary, but we did order them. I would should have opted for another taco plate to share instead.

Masochists will love it.

By Woelfflin_Jack |

If you're the kind of insecure tourist who loves to be looked down on by "real New York waitstaff" you'll love this place. We turned up after making reservations. The staff refused to seat us on the mezzanine--too much work going up those stairs for them. Then they kept us waiting some more, seating others ahead of us, studiously ignoring us or so stoned they barely noticed when we walked out. [There's an excellent little taqueria down the street, btw. The food is good, the staff are kind, the noise is reasonable and so are the prices.]

Best Mexican food

By priagarwal |

Friday night was very crowded make sure you make reservations. Typically everything in Times Square is over priced and not good but this hidden gem was awesome!!! The decor food and service were all on point. We ordered a couple of things and were not disappointed by a single item!!!! This is a must go to in NYC!!!

Pleasant

By Michael O |

Made reservations for 6:00 pm before a play and was seated st 6:25. Seemed disorganized abd waiting area at the front of the door is crowded and not the best. Food was good and service was excellent. Sure I would recommend. Been there a few times before a matinee without the waiting issues.
