Just meh...

By sammy |

Totally average diner. The best part is seeing the iconic sign featured in Seinfeld before you walk in. I've been here several times (I live across the street), and of all the dishes I've ordered, the only ones that stand out as decent are the pancakes and the french fries. I wouldn't stray too far from the basic diner options. The service is always fine and the waiters are always friendly. Also beware it's cash only. It's affordable and cozy, but nothing super special. A pretty ordinary diner.

Seinfeld World

By edwardlanglo |

We are Seinfeld fanatics, and we walked from our hotel at 34th Street to the Seinfeld restaurant at 112th. The walk was great, but the restaurant was even better. There were several people taking pictures outside, so you know that there are other Seinfeld addicts around the world. In fact, there was a middle eastern couple who were taking pictures and enjoy the reruns. We have seen each episode at least 100 times over the last 30 years. The food is good, and the service excellent. Don't miss it.

Must for Seinfeld fans

If you’re not a Seinfeld fan, then think twice. Nothing special. The burger was good, chicken caesar wrap average. Clean and good value.

Great to visit, to say you’ve been there

By Lyn B |

We wanted to go because to the restaurant’s notoriety in the tv series and the Suzanne Vega song. Einjoyed the food, although it was a little expensive, and was tasty.

Seinfeld-esque, good food and great service

By Jason B |

Great service, good food. We went because of the Seinfeld tie in, but we were pleasantly surprised that the food was very good and the service was excellent. Made us tourists feel right at home.

A must visit for Seinfeld fans

By Moses M |

What can I say? It’s a must stop for the die hards and what’s better is the food is really good. You have all sorts of options to choose from the menu. Cute cafe with Seinfeld stuff on the walls. Take a pic of the signage as you approach for your nostalgia fix.

The Steinfeld diner

By Allan S |

Okay diner is hat was made famous from the seri s. Food is pretty good and nice service but nothing is great and prices are fair for being in Manhattan. Good grilled cheese sandwiches at the best thing served.

Lived up to legend!

By Christine P |

We went their for Seinfeld photo op, but went inside for the food. My daughter and I shared fish and chips. The fish was one piece on a bun. Not what I expected but tasty. Fries were awesome. Waitress was fun and sassy with us, not cheesy. Son said he loved his pizza burger. Husband enjoy cherry pie and hot coffee. All plates cleaned. Worth the $48 tab.

Go for the photo

By David H |

Go for the photo, get a coke ora cup of coffee. The food. Ehh. I mean maybe there are a few good things, but I haven't had 'em. Anyone?

"No soup for you!"

By MissGeorgiana |

The food at Tom's Restaurant or the Seinfeld diner is good, but it's really about the experience. For anyone who watched the show, knows the episodes, the lines, the show about nothing, this is the easier way to relive it all. There is plenty of Seinfeld memorabilia inside, so order a meal and just enjoy the memories while making new ones.

Good food in spite of being a tourist destination

By Melissa P |

As others have mentioned, we thought this would be a fun thing to do, to eat at the Seinfeld's diner as we were at nearby Columbia for training. My friend and I both had the Jerry's big salad as it was lunch. I must say it was really tasty, with bacon, boiled eggs, and great veggies. The service was top-notch as well. One wall was covered in Jerry memorabilia, which is cool. The story is that the Tom's people didn't even know about Seinfeld at first. Photographers just shot pics of the outside for "some pilot", with the inside shot later in a studio. In the warmer months, they have nice outside tables and umbrellas if you prefer.

Jerry Seinfeld’s place to eat lunch

By James P |

We took an Uber from our hotel to visit this iconic restaurant on the upper west side . The place reminded me of Cheers and Mystic Pizza. Meaning it isn’t anything like the TV show of course. The menu is very expansive and the food and service are decent. Cash only . Well worth the trip to visit it.

Good food, decent pricing

By Frank M. H |

Went here because I am a huge fan of Seinfeld and looked at their menu and saw some quite alright prices and food options. The interior is nicely old fashioned, the food was ready in five minutes and it good and a lot. Nice place.

Enjoyable

By YYCGent |

We are huge Seinfeld fans and thought we’d check out Tom’s while in New York. It’s right off the Cathedral Subway stop in Harlem. We were seated promptly and enjoyed a booth. Everything seems very original here. Service was good and it seemed as though two people were serving the entire restaurant. They were constantly running around. There are pictures of actors surrounding the restaurant and it felt like a typical New York mom and pop shop. The food was tasty, hot and fresh! My only wish is that there were items on the menu that were referenced in the show. The restrooms could use a renovation and we’re very dated. Overall, a good stop.

Recently came here for breakfast. Very good food, fresh, big portions. Staff members were friendly and welcoming. We cant wait to go back!

Seinfeld diner

By BS1694 |

Seinfeld diner is worth the trip. The food was good, and the memorabilia and nostalgia makes it worthwhile. A great photo op outside on the corner.

Great for a Seinfeld fan

By 95nikop |

It is worth coming here if you are a Seinfeld fan. Just come and take a picture. You neednt worry about eating here.

Classic American restaurant

By beppe v |

Classic American restaurant both in terms of food and decor! Nothing special in terms of the quality of the dishes but here you immerse yourself in the American atmosphere.

Strictly for tourists

By alanscottus2017 |

. . . and for people who live through TV shows. The owners know it and don't go out of their way to encourage repeat business. Why one earth would you go here when New York abounds in great coffee shops?

Quick Lunch

By Christopher K |

One of the best burgers I have ever had hands down. Was stuck at the bar because it was packed but still received excellent service!

Fun for every Seinfeld Fan

By Julie P |

Every Seinfeld fan needs to eat at Tom's Restaurant at least once. The inside does not look like what was resembled on the show, but the outside signage does. They are always crowded, but move people through quickly. BRING CASH or you will have to use the ATM inside. We were there at lunchtime on a Thursday and only had to wait a few minutes for a table. The place is SMALL so be mentally prepared to feel in tight surroundings. But it is a lot of fun to see all the pictures and Seinfeld references around the restaurant. There is a wide variety on the menu. I had the "big" Cobb salad and it was very good. It does come with cucumbers and green peppers also which is not listed on the menu. It came in a large wooden bowl. The ranch dressing was very good. My daughter had the club wrap which looked big and good. It came with fries. My husband had a cheeseburger and he said it was good. My son had grilled cheese which came with plenty of fries. Heads up - only 1 refill on drinks and they come in small glasses. Make sure to ask for water. Bathroom is very small. Overall, fun experience and glad we were able to take the kids to enjoy it.

Amazing Food, Great Location and Reasonable Prices

By suzarm1 |

We went here because of our family obsession with Seinfeld, but we were pleasantly surprised with the great service and outstanding food. Our son had blueberry pancakes which were to die for! Our daughter and I had the lobster roll which was also very good! Dad had the omelet which was also very, very good! We were very glad we came.

Don't expect the TV show and avoid being disappointed

By IUPGRAD85 |

First, let's get the obvious out of the way. Unless you are a student @ Columbia, live on the Upper West Side or just blindly stumble into the place, out-of-towners are going here because of the famous TV sitcom, Seinfeld. Whether you caught the address watching one of the episodes or googled it on a "Map to the Stars" this has got to be in the top 25 places to go while in NYC for any true TVphile. All of this is OK & understandable. Next, if you are hoping to see the "coffee shop" that's portrayed on the Show, I hate to break it to you but you won't find it here. The interior here is much smaller, not as bright, and doesn't serve "Big Salads." Third, although the place knows why you are (probably) there, it doesn't go overboard shamelessly trying to cash-in from its Seinfeld notoriety; in fact, the opposite is more like it. The staff & regulars are probably "over it" from having to put up with obnoxious would-be comedians and the "star-struck." For many of you, this will be equal parts refreshing and disappointing at the same time. You go in expecting more of a "homage" to the show, and when its not there, you feel a bit let-down. And then eventually it registers on you that, after all, this is a real-life eating establishment -- "Are you going to order something or what?" There IS however a large framed print of "The Kramer" painting hanging prominently to the left of the counter. My experience: This review won't cover the amount, taste or quality of the food. I can't speak to that because I went more for the experience than for a meal. As a single visitor, I sat at the counter, ordered a piece of NY cheesecake and a soda, grabbed a T-shirt to say I'd been there, and left. But from what I saw in person seated at the counter and the website menu, it looks like a perfectly serviceable coffee shop/cafe. The portions appeared large, things are made to order and the place was busy (some waiting for a table/booth). If anything, the menu might be a bit too much like Babu Bhatt's -- offering WAY too many things to be good at all of them. Confirmation of other reviews: 1) Yes, its true--this is a cash only establishment. Even for the souvenir T-shirts, So BRING CASH. 2) Booths/Tables are very "woody" and not anything like the classic diner over-padded vinyl seats and laminate top tables. 3) One similarity to the show: there IS a single cash register attendant where you pay your bill, and it is actually one of those old-fashioned, accordion push-key types. 4) If you're looking for singing waiters, Seinfeld impersonators or TV show trivia, you won't find it here. Due to the amount and pace of customers coming in, and the type of fare they serve, people more or less keep to themselves, so your party will have to bring its own fun. (Although I observed a few regulars being recognized, greeted by the staff and served their "usual"). 5) Not to make excuses for rudeness or poor service, one can imagine it would eventually get old for anyone if 90% of the people you waited on or encountered on a daily basis were asking if Jerry or George had been in, dropping lines from the show ("Can I get a Big Salad?" "There's not a spare square of TP in the bathroom." etc.); taking selfies and/or asking you to take their picture. Again, the dishes that I saw looked sizable and appetizing, but you are probably better off planning to get in, order, have a meal and be on your way. 6) The outside still looks like it did in the TV Show and it is right on the corner of Broadway, although well north of Midtown (aka Times Sq., Theater Dist., etc.) However it is VERY accessible via subway (a station is literally 1 block away on the same side of the street.)

Excellent Quick Service

By SuperTravller |

This place offered excellent service on a late friday night, the drinks kept getting refilled without even asking and the food came out quick. This restaurant offers American comfort food served like its home made. Great little diner and the prices were very cheap for New York City tourist district.

Great Breakfast Spot at a Reasonable Price!

By ScheetzTravels |

We had just dropped our daughter off at college and stopped by this place on the way back to our hotel. It's small inside and we had to wait about five minutes for a booth to open up. The staff was amazing - very efficient, the prices were reasonable and the diner food was just what was needed! My husband and I split a HUGE bagel with cream cheese, along with a side of crispy bacon and a stack of pancakes...yes, it was a carb filled meal, but it didn't disappoint! I'm sure once school is in session this place can be packed, but on a random day in August before the dorms of Columbia are full, we experienced great food & friendly service! Also, they make a great cup of diner coffee!

Hospitality

By Shay M |

This is the first and only excellent customer service experience I had in NY. Everyone was so kind. The food and staff are wonderful. It is cash only.

Tom’s Restaurant, you must experience!

By Jeanie H |

The restaurant featured wall signed pictures of the Seinfeld cast and looked nothing inside like Monks on the show. The waitresses were very accommodating and very welcoming, the eating spaces/booths were a bit tight but the meal was very good. Overall I rate Tom’s 8/10!

Feel like a local

By liannejhare |

Being a Suzanne Vega fan, this diner was on my radar on my first trip to NYC back in 2012 and I've visited every time since then. You can sit at the counter for coffee and quick bites if you really want to feel like a local, or grab a booth if you're there with friends / family. I've stopped by for breakfasts and lunches and you will not leave feeling hungry. The portion sizes are great, the foods tasty and the refill coffees are always a bonus. Who can ever have too much caffeine? Only down side is your orange juices could be a tiny bit bigger (the cups are cute though). Thanks for always making us feel welcome!

Bad

By Pato Behar |

Breakfast is great but they were to busy so they bring us the check and invited us to leave de table. Also, there are not bathdroom available.

Be wary

By LG64StamfordCT |

Needed a quick bite near Barnard/Columbia. My husband's turkey club was OK; my vegetarian wrap was terrible. It was mostly lettuce and tomato with a few sauteed onions and canned mushrooms We complained they took $2 off the meal.

Great Visit!!! 🙂

By Jane B |

Ok, I'll admit...Stopped in because I'm a HUGE Seinfeld fan visiting from out of town, but what I discovered was a friendly staff, decent prices & a Great oasis on a Hot August day. Our water glasses were always kept Full & Cold 😎 Ice cream was a Dee-Lishous treat in the Hot NYC Sun ☀️🍨🍦

Great place

By aledo |

So.much american!I loved it. Cheap and good. Staff kind and warm. Good coffee and lemon cake. No credit cards accepted.

Seinfeld diner

By Jesse W |

Diner known from the show Seinfeld. Milkshakes were awesome and the food was good. Service was quick. Alot of Seinfeld memorabilia. Cool place to stop for a bite or coffee or just a Seinfeld fan. Cash only

Decent diner, even without Seinfeld

By dustythoughts |

People tend to come to this restaurant because of Seinfeld's, and I think also because of Obama, but it's a pretty decent diner in it's own right (maybe not significantly better or more original than any other diner in the area, but still good). Their pancakes, omelettes, and turkey wraps are all good, and although the service can be a bit on the slow side, staff are pretty friendly. Portions are large and prices are pretty standard.

A Columbia University Area Institution

By madhav24 |

A traditional American eatery catering to the Columbia university students and visitors in the main . Good portions and fresh food - the crispy shrimp basket is a strong recommendation and it comes with a cup of soup and perfect French fries. Great atmosphere , but be warned they donot accept Cards - it’s strictly cash payment only .

NOT BAD (but disappointed me)

By ErMatador |

As per the title. Maybe I had too high expectations for this dinner. Local remained as interiors in the days that were. Good reception very quick service. High rotation of tables. Very large classic dinner menu. Dishes not memorable but not bad. Fair prices for being in NYC. It's only worth one pass...

Taste Of Seinfeld's New York

By dbsjf2016 |

Had a wonderful and tasty lunch with the fun, friendly, and efficient staff at Tom's. Loved the NY feel, the food, and the walls covered with memorabilia!! Back Again Soon!! :0) :0)

terrible -- relies on TV connection

By Paradise09806931933 |

It's a truly terrible restaurant that doesn't have to try a bit because of the Seinfeld connection. So my advice is to take the pics outside with the sign but don't go inside, since the Seinfeld inside was a Hollywood set, not this place. Really, don't waste your money!

Fame isn't everything and cash is required!

By tweedybird26 |

This is a diner, plain and simple and not the best one. However, it is well priced for the area and you can have a decent meal here. Unlike other reviewers, we had good service from a friendly server who was patient with our slow to order granddaughter. We had fried fish filet which was fresh and tasty. My chicken soup was tasteless except for an abundance of thyme but my husband's minestrone was good. Our granddaughter reported that her hamburger and ice cream were good and we enjoyed our rice pudding.

Excellent to see - iconic Seinfeld restaurant - Great service

By Maria S |

We love Seinfeld and took the subway to 112th street to see the place that makes an ongoing cameo... It was a spin out seeing it. Obviously the inside of the restaurant was filmed in the studio but the inside has Seinfeld memorabilia and you can buy shirts and magnets etc.... We weren't planning to eat there but ended up doing so because the owner was so hospitable... Food is simple diner food - cheap... but the highlight was meeting the owner - a New York Greek guy... Definitely worth visiting

More than a tourist trap

By Phil-Joel |

If your a Seinfeld fan you’ll eventually make your way here, but you know what, the food was fine. It’s very easy to get to on the subway & we came for breakfast. I can’t remember what we ordered but both meals were fine & the service efficient & friendly. Naturally there are signed photos of the cast on the wall & the decor is of an old style diner.

Good food

By laine167 |

Second time I have been, both times for breakfast. Nice friendly place, good food! Staff are friendly. Would definitely go back a 3rd time!

Fun spot, good "diner" food

By Skiphenk |

Wife and I had breakfast at Tom's. What attracted to me was the sign and my belief that this was the "Seinfeld Restaurant", which it was. Food was good, service was great. My wife had an omelette and it was huge, I had eggs, toast and bacon which was good. The bacon could have been a bit crispier, but it was fine. The memorabilia on the wall relating to the show was fun to look at. This is a cash only restaurant, one of a couple we went to while in NY.

Amazing to see this Seinfeld diner

By Maria S |

It’s worth travelling the distance. When you see the place in real life, it is quite amazing when you have watched it on tv. What’s even better are the owners and people that work there. The service is the best we received during our whole visit. They are a Greek family, always smiling, happy and willing to go the extra mile. The food is good for the price - lots of choice, fast service and friendly. Worth the visit for many reasons.

Homage to Seinfeld

By ProfRUM |

Visited this place almost 20 years ago while in graduate school in New York and Seinfeld was still a regular TV series. The food is ok and the service and ambiance is good. It does seem to be a good place to catch breakfast and chat with friends.

Awful service, avoid this tourist trap

By travelphonethree |

Do not eat here. Awful service, didn't even get to try the food. Sat down and ordered a soup, fruit salad, coffee and coke and was told that we had to sit at the bar not at a table despite our order being over the 'minimum' for a table. The waitress was incredibly rude scoffed and walked off before even finishing my order. Avoid this tourist trap.

The milk shake was good.

By Napervillia |

Take your pictures and eat elsewhere. If you want to order something, the milk shake we ordered was fine. The chicken soup was dish water. The tuna salad sandwich was tasteless, served on toasted Wonder bread with an icky pickle. But the experience was what we came for and we left happy!

Quality Diner Fare

By theclarkfamily3 |

We visited at what appeared to be a relatively busy time but lucked into a table quickly. The staff really works hard to keep things moving, especially the man busing and handling the water. The food was decent and reasonably priced. The Seinfeld angle makes it a little more fun, but this place could stand on its own based upon its solid staple food.

Very good diner - Bring Cash!

By C_Phil_13 |

Relaxed and classic diner atmosphere. Wide range of choices on the menu, good portion sizes. Definitely try a milkshake! Warning - cash only, but there is an ATM inside in case of emergency...

Fun stop

By Paula C |

We stopped here because of its claim to fame as the "Seinfeld restaurant". It was a really fun stop. Of course the inside was not used in the show, only exteriors, but this is a charming restaurant with good food at reasonable prices. The staff was friendly and accommodating. You won't find Jerry, George, Elaine or Kramer but you will find a great place to eat!

Terrible service, dreadful food

By Ryryry4 |

Clearly this location is banking on the fact that everyone wants to go to the place that featured in Seinfeld. However don’t expect any level of interest from the staff and any quality in the food. Take the pictures form the outside (but don’t expect all the neon to be lit!) and go somewhere else if you want a quality dining experience

Place has personality

By Dan H |

The service was great! The food was good and affordable. I was told the George from Seinfeld had sat in my seat. We saw a marriage proposal and the entire place burst into applause. Very enjoyable dinner!

Must do if you love Seinfeld

By Mia C |

My favorite show of all time so this place was a MUST SEE. I knew the inside was going to be different so that was ok. The food was actually delicious and the service was wonderful! I would have loved to see at night when the sign is lit up!!! Love for Seinfeld decor hanging all over. Very neat!

The Best Diner in NYC

By Sam C |

We went for a week to NYC last Christmas and ate here 3 times for breakfast. It's everything you want from an american Diner. Cosy, Great food, excellent service, hot coffee refills and ice water. Plus the bill was so cheap I couldn't believe were in Manhattan. We are not even Seinfeld fans and just stumbled across it but we were delighted to have found this place. Will definitely revisit and have already recommended to friends. Also, the sausage on the breakfast plates is the best sausage I've had in the states.

Fun. Nice people. Ok food.

By bigceiling |

Went because of Seinfeld. Restaurant outside is same. Inside not at all. Food was just ok and fairly priced. Needs an update badly.

Good food in an iconic locale

By JimNielsen |

Pretty good food. Average prices. Breakfast served 24 hours. A few references to the TV Show that made it famous, and a wall of interesting pictures.

Good food freshly made and friendly staff

By BDover |

Good food freshly made, friendly staff and interesting location. Place was packed with people eating, but we were quickly seated. Food didn't take too long to arrive. Food was hot and freshly made. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Interesting place to visit especially for fans of Seinfeld.

Must See for Seinfeld Fans

By AlexShez |

Obviously had to stop here being a lifelong fan of the show. My friend & I were going to stop for breakfast before a Yankees game but decided to come for an early dinner after. Of course, we had to take our photos outside. The inside is filled with tons of photos, articles, and other Seinfeld things, which were great. I couldn't see them all since many are above booths where people were eating. Typical diner food and the best part of all, typical diner prices. I was nervous they'd jack up the price because the exterior is so famous, but it was very afforable.

Seinfeld Fan

By ColleenP1835 |

Fun place to visit...food was good too. Uber from mid Manhatten...close to central park....worth the visit

Great discovery, very good restaurant

By bibiphoque29 |

We came across this restaurant by chance we had rented an apartment in the area and enjoyed the food and the very friendly staff. I highly recommend. This very typical, very American restaurant with really very affordable prices compared to what we saw in our restaurant.

Not just a building to take a selfie.

By Ambooturner |

So i knew coming to NYC we had to go here being huge Seinfeld fans. So i read reviews on the actual restaurant. Thank goodness i took them all with a grain of salt. This place is a gem. We went not only once, but twice! Took the subway from 42nd and Times Square to 110. Took our pictures and then went in. Great diner. (Please note, this is a DINER!) if you are expecting white cloth service, this is not the place. But if you just want a feel for a good old fashioned New York diner, you will leave satisfied. Breakfast is amazing, service is good. (Remember this is NYC they see more patrons in a day than I’m sure most see in months.) Do not be put off if they don’t ask everything about your life or make small talk. But you will never go without a drink, and your food will come fast. We will be back on the next trip!

Decent Option

By John F |

Basic family restaurant. Nothing fancy or extravagant. Prices are very reasonable for the neighborhood. The waitress was spacey but fun. I had the fish & chips. Not sure what the fish was. Pollock, most likely. Was what you'd expect. The fries were fine. They have a fairly big menu, so there are things for most tastes. Sister lives nearby, so we'll eat here again next visit. Quick & easy option with fair food at a fair price.

Typical American Diner

By Becky A |

We were recommended this diner by 2 New Yorker's after bonding over music and realising that this is the diner that Suzanne Vega sung about - we had no idea what Seinfeld was?! It's away from the hustle and bustle of main NYC which is nice. The food was reasonably cheap compared to what other restaurants in NYC charge. We both ordered Burgers for our early dinner. I really liked the inside of the diner - lots of photographs/memorabilia on the walls. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Riding on Its Reputation

By Pat S |

A spot to take a picture but Not to eat. Four of us had 4 different things and each was not only bland in flavor but stayed with you a while. Generous portions of lousey food. Take a picture and go elsewhere.

Expensive food and bad customer policies

By Carlos M |

Very expensive, $35 for pancakes, bacon, eggs and a coffee. Their paying policy was also terrible. We were a group of 6, they didn’t let everyone pay individually, they only let us pay with 2 credit cards (which they should have informed of beforehand). Also, on the door of the establishment there was a sign that said “contactless credit card payment preferred”, but when you enter the restaurant, you can see a tiny sign that says “every meal paid with card cost an extra 3.5%”(whitch no one saw until they told us”. It also took like 10 minutes for them to let us pay. At least the food was fine and the staff was nice.

Must see for Seinfeld fans..but food is so-so

By Lorenmizv |

We were at a conference at Columbia University so we stopped here for lunch. We took some photos of the outside and then had lunch. Over all the diner was ok.. not horrible but not the best I've had either. I ordered a turkey burger and it was very dry. Portions were decent. The waiter also gave a hard time about having separate checks since we all needed reimbursement receipts. Not sure why since other restaurants usually don't have an issue with it. It was fun to see, but I don't really need to eat here again if I'm ever back in New York City.

Take a pic outside if compelled and then go eat somewhere else.

By nrb10010 |

I have been there multiple times, only because it's the closest diner to me. Finally stopped going, however convenient it is. Food is consistently mediocre and service apathetic, often simply rude. And if you are a solo diner, even if the restaurant is half empty, you need to sit at the counter, the single restaurant in New York City I have ever seen with this policy.

Went for the Seinfeld, left with a great feed

By Craig R |

We visited Tom’s really for the Seinfeld thing. Once we entered the decor was not great Nor did it look like where Elaine and Jerry would eat. Then we ordered from there huge menu. I had the fried chicken and a piece of pie with a huge milkshake. The food was awesome. The chicken was perfectly fried and the milkshake seemed to never end. The pie however was “to die for”. I had a cherry pie and I could have eaten it until I exploded. The staff where all friendly and helpful, even offering to take our picture in the booth. Great experience and great food.

Iconic from the outside, decent on the inside

By Kevin Campbell |

You already know what this place is from the outside, inside it's a basic, honest, no-frills diner. Our waitress was perfect New Yorker: straightforward, friendly, no-nonsense. The food was decent diner fare, everything cooked on the same griddle. Prices were very reasonable.

Happened on it

By John L W |

Wasn't looking for it, was just in the area & recognized the Seinfeld sign. Went for breakfast: crowded, obviously popular, sat at counter. Staff moved at 90mph, awesome efficiency, never colliding. Good menu for diner-type, the spinach omelette was not very good, breakfast sandwich was OK. Good coffee. A good NYC diner experience.

Nice breakfast

By PGambo |

As a Seinfeld fan I wanted to visit this restruant as the outside shot of it features in the show. We decided to have breakfast there, and it was very nice. We all went for a set breakfast which was well cooked and plentiful with tea/coffee and toast included. Definitely worth a visit if you're in that part of the city

Well worth a visit especially if you’re a Seinfeld fan!

By Jack M |

As a Seinfeld fan I was always going to love this but o was pleasantly surprised by the quality and price of the food. Love the whole experience, and took a little walk to stroll around Columbia University afterwards

Amazing Diner with a great selection of breakfast and brunch options beside lunch/dinner.

By J H |

Very good food. Also a great all day option for breakfast and brunch. The French toast - milkshakes and coffee are great. Also oat and skinny milk options. I even ordered a fruit salad. And all the fruit tasted fresh. Just like you would hope. Kind and fast employees. I would greatly recommend this restaurant.

Nice Bagels and Coffee

By StevEire |

Quick service, comfortable setting, nice food, good coffee. The whole package really! Plus the place has nice Seinfeld memorabilia on the walls.

Perfect diner

By alkimadrid |

This place is the old fashioned diner, fast efficient service, huge menu, yummy food, big plates. If you know what you're coming in for, it's perfect. We've been so many times, tried different plates, everything is tasty and well done.

Great for fans and for the diner experience.

By soomark1 |

Visited as a family. Service was prompt and courteous. Enjoyed a no frills authentic diner experience, we were not expecting anything else and so enjoyed our bagels and milk shake and the chance to see the place associated with Seinfeld.

If you watch Senfield then you have to stop by

By livelife h |

nice little resturant with great food. Igot the oreo pancakes and they were delicious. Alot of food choices. Bring cash because they dont take debit/credit cards.

Seinfeld fans, why not try it?

By Juan Carlos Z |

Straight forward, an American diner, good breakfast selection, friendly and fast service. Great to see the Seinfeld memorabilia.

Dinner with History

By Santiago F |

The place has been remodeled since Seinfeld series, but it is nice. The food is good and the service too. It is a good experience, but it only accepts cash.

Just what you would expect -the attitude of the Seinfeld TV Show

By Let's make Astoria's restaurants better! |

Well, I just had to come back here after many years. The restaurant was used in early Seinfeld episodes as Monk's Diner, and just as Seinfeld was full of humor often with rigid attitudes, Tom's restaurant still reflects those times. For example, you can only order an omelet with french fries and there are no alternatives. Today I ordered Turkey Al carte with cranberry source, but no stuffing. How can you eat a turkey dinner without stuffing? As I was hungry and not very picky I just ate what was offered and didn't fuss too much. Still, Tom's does not reflect the type of diner I like to eat in. They do not allow you to mix and match and select alternative combinations of side orders. For me, this is a hit or miss experience and so I go there if I have to with low expectations. I am only giving them three stars because the counter staff are friendly. Regular wait staff at the tables are not so friendly. Come to Tom's expecting to eat what's on the menu, and only what's on the menu. Do not expect great service or willingness to experiment or be flexible with customer orders.

Great for a selfie, terrible for food

By 995rhyss |

So like most people I came here only because of Seinfeld. It’s a cool feeling being here and getting photos. Inside is sad and the food and drinks are terrible. Overpriced and absolute crap. I don’t know why they don’t overhaul the inside and replicate the Seinfeld diner. The menu could be fun with ideas like “Elaine’s big salad”, “Kramer’s hot coffee” etc... but sadly it’s a dim menu and the output is worse. Will never go back and don’t recommend eating there to anyone.

Jerry! Say it ain't so!

By Michael Y |

We stumbled across Tom's. I had no expectations other than being able to order a big salad. Boy was I disappointed. I ordered a tuna melt and received a grilled cheese with tuna in the middle. The tuna was watery, mostly celery and resulted in me scraping it off and just eating a fishy grilled cheese. My girlfriend ordered an omlet (which came with toast and home fries). The omlet was very salty, the home fries were undercooked mush and we had to remind the waitress for the toast (she asked for whole wheat and got white). All in all, we got to eat at Tom's which is something to do in New York, it's just a shame that I don't want to return on a regular basis with a bunch of friends and talk about my day. I sincerely hope this place get sold to someone that cares about service and food quality so they have a crowd that returns, not just checks off an item on their NYC bucket list.

excellent good and service. This is the Senfeld cafe fromt he show. Take subway to the top end of central park and then 15 min walk from there. Worth a trip if you want to put a smile on your face.

LOVED IT!

By Toyotababy |

Got a groupon to visit...took the subway from Manhattan...easy trip...easy to find...the restaurant of "Seinfeld ". Worth the trip...not too fancy but very reasonably price food and desserts and food was really good...we had meatloaf...service a little less attentive than should have been ...but we had no problems using our voucher and enjoyed...highly recommended...with or without any discount...

Very Nice!

By MªTeresa | uaineturas |

We went to eat breakfast and we didnt make the connection to the show 😄 silly us... But the staff was very Nice, and the food was very good!

Phenomenal breakfast

By Joe H |

We had excellent breakfast service. Eggs Benedict was delicious. Pancakes were dynamite. Fresh fruit. Coffee hot. Great experience and when we visit New York again we will definitely be back. Lots of great memorabilia on walls too.

A Seinfeld

By Dansker58 |

We finally made it here! Huge Seinfeld fans and wanted to see their hangout. Food was just ok. Nice service, cash only. Definitely fun to see.

bad service

By Fernando G |

Nice place, but service was bad. Bad attitude. Too rude for a family restaurant. Even though is nice to be in the restaurant that inspired Seinfeld - full of tourists - we are not coming back.

Seinfeld diner excellence

By Diana W |

I came here not expecting much other than a tourist site because of Seinfeld show, however I was pleasantly surprised. We all had burgers and they were very flavor-able and the service was fantastic. My tea glass never reached empty. Ask to sit in the booth where George & Jerry sat to do a Super Bowl commercial, we didn’t realize we had until our waitress told us and sure enough we looked up the commercial and it was the same booth. So cool 😎

Seinfeld 😐🙄

Grabbed an ice coffee for $2.00. Gentleman that served me was super hospitable. Might wanna stop by for breakfast one day but rarely am I in this neck of the woods.

Fast, good, and friendly

By Matt S |

The food was good, the service was very friendly, and the prices weren't overly expensive. Always wanted to stop by this place, made famous by one of the funniest shows ever made, and I must say, I would defi.itely eat here again.

Classic NYC Diner experience.

By TN-610 |

I did visit because it's the "Diner from Seinfeld" but I also love old-school diners and I had a great time! It was just me so I sat at the counter and it felt like going back in time to old-school NYC. For those complaining about bad service.. have you ever been to a diner? This is what it is! They aren't going to hold your hand and walk you through the menu, tell them what you want and they will make it for you - simple as that! I had Eggs, Potatoes, and Toast and it was under $10 before tax and tip - that's a crazy good deal for NYC. I thought the food was great.

Comfort food served with a smile

By PKM71 |

Excellent food and service. Simple, delicious comfort food. Greeted by friendly staff with a smile, quick service we were glad we made this choice

Great diner!

By Jan B |

Recently had lunch at Tom's while visiting my daughter. For NYC, the prices are very reasonable. The menu has traditional diner fare, prepared deliciously. The service was outstanding - our water glasses were refilled promptly and food was delivered fast. This is a terrific spot.

Go for the photo not for the food

By Shambles |

Don’t bother with the food. Catch the Subway there. Take a photo and leave. Better food at better prices elsewhere.

Just like I imagined

By Lalacad96 |

Very busy spot in uptown. Had all the NYC diner classics. Service was prompt. Food was very good. Service was quick even during lunch rush.

Gold Jerry, Gold!

By JC 23 |

As a huge Seinfeld fan, the visit to Tom's Restaurant was a must do during our recent trip to NYC. However, apart from the Seinfeld memorabilia throughout the restaurant, the food and service at the restaurant was brilliant and worth a visit for this alone.. Staff are wonderful and they were very accommodating to our questions.

Great family dining

By Marylyn L |

Interesting café famous for its exposure on Seinfeld. Lots of pictures of Seinfeld characters, but other well-known celebrities. Great food, good portions, lots of choices. Staff very friendly. Easy style seating, both in and outside.

Must for Seinfeld fans

By Dom S |

We are huge Seinfeld fans, so this was a must for us. Was pleasantly surprised! The food was decent and well priced, the service was excellent and there was plenty of cool memorabilia to see. They even sell T-shirts and more for those who want a souvenir (T-shirt was ~$25). Worth a visit for those Seinfeld fans or those in the area looking for a decent breakfast.

Great cafe

By tarita2017 |

If you are a Seinfeld fan. A must visit. Take the time to go inside. Best milkshakes in New York - kids thought so! They also make s great banana split

Just a quick Visit

By DDSWM |

While in New York City you need to visit this place. Very close to subway station. Just had a Bagel and Ice cream Sundae. The service was quick and staff friendly. A bit of Seinfeld stuff around.. a lot of people just walk in but do not buy any food. They sell T-shirts.

Seinfeld Diner

By Teresa M |

Ok maybe the Seinfeld cast didn’t didn’t actually film in the diner but being a huge Seinfeld fan I had to eat here. Very typical NY diner and the food was very good. Pictures and caricatures of the cast are sprawled on the walls so that was enjoyable to see. A shoutout to a great waitress ( didn’t catch her name) but I managed to practice my Spanish with her. Thank you for a great experience!

Classic Seinfeld

By SheldonKennedy |

If you love Seinfeld, you will enjoy a lunch or a coffee at this restaurant. Tons of memorabilia and understated charm make this a great choice for fans of this TV series!

Pretty sad

By M S |

The people who work there was Nice. Bit the food was pretty sad. IT was no vegetables, no taste. I endes up just eating the fries.

Great Seinfeld picture op and decent NYC diner.

By Matt Rogers |

I’d probably give this restaurant a 3.5 if that was an option. The restaurant was clean and staff were friendly. I had soup and a BLT and my wife had the Berry Salad. The food was very good. It’s a bit small and nothing to write home about. Stopped by to get a pick since we were Seinfeld fans and decided to get a light lunch.

College dive breakfast

By hrobinson1114 |

Might be more like 3.5 stars, but I’ll give it four for ambiance and a fun back story. This is the restaurant was the outdoor backdrop to the Seinfeld restaurant. Barack Obama ate here as a student at Columbia. I ordered a turkey bacon omelet with onions and cheese as well as potatoes (more like a potato hash). Was it the best I’ve ever had? No. Did I expect it to be? No. It was a good dive restaurant breakfast with trashy American cheese in my omelet, and now I have a fun story. If you’re not looking for fancy, decent breakfast.

Seinfeld Classic Set - Take Photo and Cross Street to Eat

By LiveAGr8Story |

Outside is the Seinfeld diner, but the inside was a set. For food it is best to cross the street and hit the happy hour at The Height's Rooftop Bar. Iconic Instagram photo but skip the food.

Typical Greasy Spoon

By nobuko_e |

We went there only because this was the restaurant Jerry Seinfeld and his friends hung out in the show. It was a pleasant good old greasy spoon with a lot of people. There are no vegan friendly breakfast choice as I predicted, but I had a pretty nice fruit salad for $6 which for me was over priced but hey it is in Manhattan.

Leave it for the tourists

By DavidWeiser |

Go take a photo of the outside, then eat somewhere else, unless you want nastiness and abuse for lunch. Very expensive diner food, and not worth the money.

Terrific Tom's

By robynmaree99 |

We love the Seinfeld tv show, so this was a highlight of our trip. We walked 76 blocks up to it. It was a sunny day and we sat outside. It was busy. We had salad and chicken and followed that with New York cheesecake, which was nice. The service was good and very efficient. Went inside to pay and they have souvenir tshirts and bits and pieces from the show. Well worth stopping by and getting some photos, especially if you love the show.

Cheap Diner Food

By Dracoschnauzer Dad |

There is nothing too special about Tom’s Resto other than they used the facade for the diner in Seinfeld. There’s some tv show memorabilia inside but nothing amazing. One good thing is that all breakfasts come with coffee and juice. Breakfast is inexpensive; less than $10 per person. Don’t let the old hostess push you around especially when the place is empty.

THE Tom's Diner of Suzanne Vega fame. Great reasonably priced food and excellent service.

By MichellABurton |

An excellent diner. Extensive reasonably priced menu. Speedy service with a smile and the added bonus of being THE Tom's Diner of Suzanne Vega fame. Will visit again on our return to New York.

Seinfeld!!!!

By Corey B |

Yes this is the very restaurant where Seinfeld’s show was filmed ! There are pictures of the cast on the wall including some memorabilia as well. We went mid afternoon and were quickly seated - it is a very busy spot but the waiters are fast and the food was very good —we had burgers fries and a pasta dish and a clubhouse sandwich and we were all very satisfied! I just loved the atmosphere and got a few pictures inside and out. This is a must do for any Seinfeld fan !

Seinfeld Restaurant!

By Håkan J |

Stopped at Tom's when we where on our "Harlem bike tour", it's famous for beeing the "exterior" for Monk's Cafe in Seinfeld, but they never shot the scences in this place, they shot in i a Hollywood studio that actually looked pretty much like Tom's. It is also close to Columbia University.

Fast and delicious

By Bmm1104 |

If you’re a fan of Seinfeld this is a must. Prices are decent and the food is good. Service is pretty fast as well. They only accept cash so make sure you have cash on hand. I do believe they had an ATM in the restaurant though. Seating is limited so you may or may not get a table right away.

Friendly Atmosphere

By TheBrattonFamily |

I randomly stopped by on a visit to see family, and it was a great find. Did not know it was the restaurant from Seinfeld, but I know why they went! My family loved the burgers, and the waiter was extremely friendly and pleasant. Definitely a place to go for some good food.

Not just a tourist hotspot - AMAZING food too!!!

By cjwarnick |

My wife and I went here on a random day-trip, as we both love Seinfeld, and wanted to see the restaurant. At first we thought it would just be a neat little tourist spot, but we stopped in for breakfast - and they have AMAZING food. Hands down some of the best breakfast grub I have eaten. And the price was extremely reasonable. If you are looking for a good breakfast spot in NYC - this is totally it!!!

Wonderful place

By amandagq |

Wonderful experience. Got right in, no waiting. Delicious food and warm, friendly staff. Great atmosphere decorated for Christmas.

Excellent Brunch

By Jacqui |

As fans of Seinfeld a trip uptown to Tom's Restaurant us a must. They don't reserve tables and we got a table no problem even though it was quite full. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The only thing that could be improved is the decor is a bit dated. Otherwise it was well worth the trip uptown. 👍

Great

By Karlo S |

The legendary restaursnt from Seinfeld. Food was regular what you would expect (very good for my taste) Portions are very big and the interior is great with the wall pictures of Seinfels. Saby or Gaby is very quick, nice and a great person.

Pancakes is a must

By Cristina E |

Charming neighborhood restaurant known from Seinfeld. On the walls there are plenty of pictures with actors from the faimous movie which gives a nice feeling, throw back. Please try the pancakes and cheesecake.

A Seinfeld fan must

By Jason T |

While I am aware that only the outside appearance has any connection to the show, as a fan you have to go. As you walk along the street and it comes into view, you cannot but think of all of the wacky things that were portrayed in the show that "happened here" and for me I was not expecting the inside to like the show portrays as its just a front. We ate here having made the pilgrimage from Australia via midtown and to be honest it wasn't the worst experience of the trip, the food was fine and the service ok. If you are a Seinfeld fan then regardless of the outcome at least make the effort to see it, they have some memorabilia on the walls and for me just being here was enough. Hope you get as much from your visit as I did.

Glad we made the trip!

By Laura |

My husband is a huge Seinfeld fan, so a stop at Tom's was priority. We had a great lunch. Portions were huge... Service was excellent. Loved seeing all the memorabilia on the walls.

Seinfeld

By m w |

This place is listed as a point of interest as well. The establishment gets probably half its customers based upon the show Seinfeld. The south side of the building was used as an establishing shot for the famous series. More of a family restaurant with breakfast served all day, and sandwiches as well as home made soup

Seinfeld memories

By startravel01 |

As i am a big fan of Seinfeld, i couldn't leave NY without visiting the famous toms restuarant where the seinfeld friends meet. Traditional American cafe with big burgers and fries. Meals are ok not exciting but large serving. Few signed pictures of seinfelds hanging on the wall. Staff are friendly. No need to make a booking for a meal. It was snowing the evening we went there so it was nice to go in get a hot chocolate and a hot meal

Breakfast Stands out from the rest

By Gerald H |

This is not your usual “seen one, seen them all” experience. Well for sure, the Seinfeld memorabilia is on the wall but not overt and though I went because of this history to the show, the service was excellent and the food is above average and fast. Well placed for eats if you are exploring the north end of Central Park, or the Cathedral or near Columbia U. But go ahead and take your picture outside for the iconic sign from Seinfeld”s Monk’s Diner.

Go for the nostalgia, but don’t eat there

By r7k |

I’ve lived in NYC for 12 years and this was the first time we ate here. It’s the iconic Seinfeld diner (exterior only). The staff are incredibly nice and the interior is interesting. Signed photos from the cast and old school NY diner seating. Food is below mediocre. I had the chicken souvlaki which was so dry you could use it as a sponge. Hubby had cheeseburger, which wasn’t even pretending not to be a frozen ten cent patty. Love the people here, but come on guys—try a little on the cooking!

Sienfeld

By Lindsey L |

We visited Tom’s for the Sienfeld factor, so went in for afternoon tea. The staff were happy to accommodate our children. We had milkshakes (which we can totally recommend) and shared a bowl of chips. Beware: cash only. Worth it for the Seinfeld factor, a short walk from the hop on hop off stop.

The worse

By Edgar Tursi |

If you want to keep your good memories of the Seinfeld series just don't go there, workers are Russian and super rude, I asked for a omelette the waiter charged wrong and the manager was unwilling to help. Said that he don't need customers like me ( who complain about beeing right ). Just take a picture from the outside and go somewhere else.

Great Breakfast

By Tom Price |

Great priced breakfast which was delicious. Worth a train trip uptown. Is busy and bustling which adds to the charm of the classic American diner, which we were looking for. Pancakes and free coffee top ups made a great start to our day. Service was speedy and polite.

Old school feel, NYC diner

By Brent H |

This diner was cool, obviously very cool cause the outside was used for the TV show Seinfeld... but on the inside was just as awesome giving off a old school feel, service good, food fine also.

Fun to see Seinfeld sign food good

By JKM007JKM |

Had a BTL with fries, both good, not overpriced. Nice and bright, friendly service. Seinfeld memorabilia. The inside is NOT from the show, only the outside.

Must visit if you're a Seinfeld fan...

By WidnesWineLover 2 |

Visited with my husband who was over excited to eat at this place as he's a big Seinfeld fan. We got a seat straight away, despite the diner being busy. We both ordered gyros, which was served with fries, salad and tzatziki. Reasonably priced, good food, good pleasant service. Would visit again.

it's a diner. the seinfeld diner. what do you expect?

By Liz S |

Excellent milkshake. Decent diner burger and sandwiches. It's exactly what you expect. Nothing more, nothing less. We got great service despite arriving at a relatively busy time. Friendly and cozy.

An Al Fresco Brunch Experience

By kmm8679 |

Feeling like a local, enjoying hearty and satisfying brunch al fresco style was an experience. Enjoying the sights that the neighborhood has to offer warms the heart. The staff was attentive and friendly. The food choices were abundant. It certainly kept us full as we flew back to the West Coast.

A classic in the heights

By Dana Los Angeles |

Nothing fancy, just good food and huge portions for a good price in New York City. A great slice of old school comfort food in the city without pretense.

Come Dine Where Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer Had Their Moments

By bbbob84 |

The outside of this diner is the photo shot used throughout the Seinfeld series. Inside is a quaint NYC Diner. I was alone so I chose to eat at the counter. Late at night there were a lot of people outside taking photo ops and several inside. Waiter at the counter was attentive and quick. Food was prepared as requested, burger and fries. Parking in the area can be hard with Columbia University, Housing and a local hospital. If you are visiting NYC I recommend the subway or a taxi. The food was very good. An enjoyable experience.

First dinner in New York.

By kathm181 |

So much fun going to this Seinfeld icon. Our first dinner in NY city. Food was yum. Service was great!

Inside is nothing like the show.

By HeathThompsonSydney |

If it are going here because it is from Seinfeld then you will find that the inside isn’t really like it’s depicted on the show. First thing you notice is how small it is inside. It’s obviously popular because of the show and the place takes advantage of this. There are photos memorabilia and merchandise relating to Seinfeld all over. Because it is popular and small sometimes you may have to wait for a table. I found the food really good and generous servings. Milk shakes in Stainless Steel cups give it the old school feel as well. Prices are reasonable but they don’t take credit cards. There is an ATM on site. I guess it’s part of New York pop culture but it’s still not a bad place to stop in for a feed.

Outstanding service

By ABarbuto |

The girl who served us was really nice and efficient. The portion is large, it can serve two people who doesn't eat a lot. It's a decent food.

Great restaurant. A New York "must dine" restaurant for Seinfeld fans.

By simports |

Off the beaten path for the typical tourist but we'll worth the journey. For Seinfeld fans it's a must see place in New York. The food is very good and so is the service. They even have Jerry's big salad. 😁 Prices are very reasonable and the portions are good as well.

Rude Manager/Supervisor

By mkosa |

Never again. I went to the restaurant with some friends for lunch. Food was mediocre, but the waiter was polite. Unfortunately after paying the bill, the manager approached to us YELLING and telling us to pay the whole amount (which had been indeed wholly paid by us). After showing him the credit card receipts, he didn’t even apologize for his error and manners. After I told him that wasn’t the proper way to treat customers, he literally replied (quite loudly) that he didn’t care if that was the proper way and it was his way. If you want to get disrespected and outrageous service, Tom’s is your place.

Worth a visit for any Seinfeld fan

By 421Traveler_123 |

The outside of this diner featured in the US television comedy Seinfeld and is worth a visit for a fan. While the diner food is good and the menu extensive, the real reason to go here is for the photo outside. Inside, you will get the typical US diner experience.

The Best Hot Wings I've Ever Had!

By Jerae W |

We ducked in Tom's after a visit to Columbia. We went here on recommendation, but also because of its notoriety. The outside is famous for it's use in Sienfield. I typically steer clear of touristy destinations, however, I was pleasantly surprised with Tom's. We ordered the chicken wings for starts and I can tell you, I have never had anything so delicious! A different technique with the cooking leads to one of the best flavors. We also had a hamburger, that was just as delicious. The service was excellent and we enjoyed our experience all around. Highly recommend!

Coffee and a refill (one of them a half cup) was billed $7:50 (plus tax) in the bill

By CapeCodder123 |

We went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We asked for decaf coffee, they told us they did not have any. We were walking away, but the waitress said that they will make it. She came late with two small cups (about 6 oz) of lukewarm coffee. My wife asked for a refill and the waitress offered me the leftover coffee in the pot (about half a cup). Since the cups were relatevely small, we ask for adtional coffee. The end result was that we ended with a bill for $15 (plus tax) just for the coffee. (Each 6 oz cup was priced $2,50, and each refill (including a refill of half a cup) was chaged $2:50. Although we live a block away, we are not going back to this place, and tell everyone of our friends about our experience.

Awful

By DivaTe |

First off j told us to sit anywhere and every table we went to he would tell us No! Then my sister asked for chicken soup and it was salt water with noodles No chicken, she also asked for the stuff crab and was told that they couldn’t serve anything that needed to be broiled, her fish was not fresh you could tell it’s frozen fish it was dry. My burger was good but that’s about it. They have all of these items on their menu but chances are they don’t have them to serve. The table next to us ordered onion rings, they weren’t fresh they came from a frozen bag they didn’t eat them and they made them pay for them. Then when we paid he says we can’t use a credit card. This is 2018 and you’re too cheap to get a credit card machine but you want ppl to use a atm that you have in the restaurant. Stay far away from this place it’s horrible I don’t know how they’re still open

Nice place for burgers

By PushExplore |

The Toms Restaurant is a nice place to grab a fairly affordable meal. Service is quite efficient and the place is sort of historic. When you go inside have a look at all the photos and you'll know why.

A nice stop for Seinfeld fans

By lucasashby |

We stopped by and decided to eat here. The area was relatively quiet with a Columbia being out of school for the time we went. Overall, the food is your standard diner fare. Make sure to be proactive if anything is forgotten on your order or you need something.

An Icon but Dissapointing

By GPBurdell67 |

We went for lunch because of the Seinfeld connection, but came away disappointed by the food. We probably ordered the wrong things -- corned beef sandwich and gyro. The breakfasts looked good.

Tuna on toast

By Phatbenny |

Got here around noon on Saturday Dec 23. Very busy but didnt have to wait. Tuna on toast w added tomatoes was v good. Nice waitress.

Wouldn’t bother

By DRPMI |

Two stars for quick service and generous portions. However their food was mediocre at best-if you’re going to serve fish and chips have a malt vinegar available. All they offered was balsamic and then grudgingly. Fish was fried to death and too thin for that kind of fry!Friends had spaghetti and plate was awash in liquid from pasta not adequately drained. Diet Coke was so sweet I could only guess it had come from a previous root beer spout. I’ll stick with deli’s in Midtown in the future.

Happy(ish) Pappy

By Mr_Imp |

Being in New York, and being a Seinfeld fan, I had to visit Tom's diner. After taking the obligatory photos outside, we decided to go in for some breakfast before our flight home that afternoon. The inside is not the same as the TV show, as I'm sure most Seinfeld fans will know. We were seated and served relatively quickly, the food was fine but not spectacular, and the tea was a bit less than ok (not a patch on a cup of Yorkshire or Barry's!). The waiting staff were pleasant although we felt that the guy at the payment till (maybe the manager?) was a bit dour, even when I decided to buy a t-shirt as well. Maybe it was because he knew we were tourists, maybe he was just having a bad day, who knows. It was a good place to visit and take photos outside, although I wouldn't particularly rush to go back to eat there the next time I'm in NYC.

Take a picture outside and move on ! Not worth coming in unfortunately

By Heather |

We came because we are huge Seinfeld fans! We were so excited!! The photos around the restaurant are neat to look at. But the service really sucked and the food was expensive. Our bill was $40 for eggs Benedict and an omelette with 2 black coffees. Once we finished eating I wanted to use the bathroom before we headed to the park (I’m pregnant) and was greeted by a big sign stating the bathroom is not in order. We had to hunt around the city for somewhere who would allow me to use their bathroom and it was stressful.

Rod

By Rod H |

Being huge Seinfeld fans we had to eat here! Great pics of the stars and great food! We had soup of the day to start (Chowder) Which was excellent, we had Virginia Ham Sandwich, Club Sandwich and Pastrami Sandwich followed by Apple Pie, couldn’t fault anything, great portions, super service, all our food was very tasty! Staff very good with us taking pics etc Highly recommend, not far from Central Park👍

All day breakfast can’t be beaten.

By michaelhT8010MC |

I love Seinfeld so it’s a must for me,third time in New York third time at Tom’s,amazing all day breakfast with fabulous staff not to be missed fans.

Great Breakfast!!!

By Cody C |

I am a huge Seinfeld fan so my wife and I stopped here for breakfast. When we walked in we picked our table and were greeted immediately. The coffee was very good and we both enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was your typical diner food, but we both enjoyed it. We would definitely come back.

Simple place for simple people

By Chris Yeend |

If you are a Seinfeld fan.. this is a must see place .. but don't let the tourist aspect trap you.. go inside and have a look. With minimal Seinfeld fan-fare inside.. it's refreshing.. my wife and I were greeted with a smile and a table to sit down instantly .. breakfast was yummy and the service was outstanding.. it's a simple place with simple food, done well.. would go again in a heart-beat.

Must See for Seinfeld Fans

By Wallyworld59 |

THIS DINER DOES NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS. CASH ONLY! It was fun to see the exterior used in Seinfeld episodes to film Monk’s Diner. However, the interior is not the same. It is quite small and dated, but seemed clean. There is Seinfeld memorabilia throughout the Diner. Service was friendly and prompt. Food was average diner fare, but good and prices seemed reasonable.

Took a pic, yada yada yada, we left! 📸

By Martin Niemoller |

This is not a review for the restaurant inside. Face it, it's about the Seinfeld facade that you want to take a picture of otherwise this wouldn't be categorized under 'things to do' but rather under restaurants! The inside of the restaurant does NOT look like the Seinfeld set but the outside most certainly does. The area around is safe but certainly not touristy; really nothing to hang around for. You may even have your Uber driver stop for you, get out and take a quick picture and y'all get back into their Uber for a ride elsewhere afterwards; it's also subway accessible. Now you understand: Took a pic 📸, yada yada yada, we left!

Went for breakfast and yada yada yada made our way to Central Park...

By sabearfan12 |

The only reason I’m giving Tom’s 3 stars is because of the Seinfeld connection. As a huge fan of the greatest sitcom ever made, I had to visit for that reason only. I did however go in with low expectations and that held true. The choices for breakfast aren’t really anything exciting or out of the norm. Very basic diner food. The pancakes were ok. I don’t know exactly what I would have liked to see but it just was a bit disappointing. Except for the fact the outside is on Seinfeld.

Quick New York breakfast, Seinfeld style

By Lauren620 |

Eggs any style except poached, cooked surprisingly carefully. Toast is made with cheap commercial bread, “jam” is in little plastic tubs that contain no fruit, only chemicals. Home fries are delicious, and Heinz ketchup bottles are on each table. Service is blindingly fast! You get to sit in a Naugahyde booth. Cash only.

A must see for Seinfeld fans

By Jaimes A |

A must see for Seinfeld fans, easy to get to from 110th st station, the booths are very similar to the tv show (although no doubt no filming ever took place there), plenty of memorabilia on the walls. Also, the food is good, large portions and pretty well priced.

HORRIBLE SERVICE, RUDE STAFF

By renato c |

Decent food, but HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE service. Under Greek management looks like, wouldn’t recommend at all. Shame they are allowed to use Seinfeld name on order to attract customers. Will never come back!

Authentic old style brunch

By roo_lifestyle |

Tom's is the typical American diner were you can enjoy a most classical brunch. We had a Lumberjack - if you are very hungry go for it - pancakes and fried eggs. If you love pouched eggs just be sure to be there very early, they are only served until 10a.m. A must if you're around.

Liked it. Fun spot

By eja117 |

Loved my pastrami sandwich. The family that runs it definitely seem like hard workers to me. They're attentive in their own way subtly listening to what the tables want. It's very close to Columbia so all kinds of people come in. It's close to a park and Grant's Tomb. I liked the expansive menu. There was no wait on a Monday morning in February.
