This was a great spot for Mexican food. The nachos were amazing and I liked the chicken tacos. I just wished they had toasted the shells. Great cocktails too.

We walked in by chance and ate some delicious burritos. Very nice place and very welcoming staff. I recommend you try it.

A modern mexican restaurant. The staff is very kindle and nice. The atmosphere is modern mexi. The burritos and taco.are.good and interpreted with a drop of.fantasy. The churros are not Madrid one but appreciable.

The atmosphere and decorations are really nice giving the place a hip & funky feel. Ordered frozen margarita, tortilla soup, fish, steak and special tacos and all of them were very delicious. Definitely recommended!

We had a lovely helpful waiter and the most amazing nachos. But the cocktails were expensive and didn't taste great (so strong I had one and passed out in my hotel room!). It's way too loud to for an enjoyable meal, which is a shame because the food looked great.

I walked in with a group of 6 and the team was so accommodating for us. We ordered guacamole two different ways, then drinks and the server, Jorge had our guacamole on the table before everyone had picked their beverage. The food was fresh and delightful and Terri the manager was all over our table with chip and water refills. Great experience for a large group walk in. Felt invited from the moment we stepped in. Keep it up!!! Thank you!!

I am staying at the hotel across the street. I came to the restaurant on 6/11 a little after 10 pm. I ordered a margarita, and wings and a chorizo burrito to go. The wings were solid, even though I did not receive condiments or any sauce, but I can’t believe I paid sixteen dollars for a tortilla full of rice with a scant smear of other ingredients. The flavors were good, but I am a Mexican cook, and this burrito is a scam. I felt like I was taken advantage of because my food was to go. I was insulted by my sixteen dollar tube of rice, and I wonder if I would have received the same thing if I was sitting there eating it in person.

My husband and I ran over for a quick bite. This is a bar really that serves some really great food. I had the vegetarian street tacos (grilled mushrooms, onions, pablano peppers, corn, with a smidge of cheese). My husband had the chicken quesadilla. The drink menu was extensive and they looked good as they were being served to others around us.

I have been to Toro Loco multiple times with friends and coworkers because I love the food and the cocktails. Compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area, this is definitely my favorite. If you’re looking to go and have a more serious conversation with work people, this might not be the best place - it can get really loud even at lunch. I must say, though, that the quality of service has decreased since my first visit. When Toro Loco first opened, the manager would walk around talking to people, food was always hot and fresh, waitresses would talk to you about your day... nowadays it’s not the same. Sometimes the food is almost cold and the staff doesn’t seem to be particularly excited to serve you... I visited last week for lunch and I had to remind the server about my order twice. Kinda sad.

Great food. Good service. Awesome food. Very loud inside but I will be back! Great food. Good service. Very loud inside.

this place is trash. their website says brunch till 5pm got here at 4 the girl refused to seat us saying the kitchen closes at 3:45 after we spoke to someone one the phone and they said to get here by 4. don’t waste your time here.

Really nice mexican food -can recommend the tacos and the mexican soup. Just a touch pricey (compared to the chipotle down the road), but nevertheless will recommend

We got into NYC on Valentine’s Day at 700. Staying in the financial district... we were resigned to vending machine food. But!!! This gem was across the street! We got takeout and picked it up in 15 minutes from ordering it. I had the GF steak fajitas and they were out of this world!!

Went here for their brunch and got the all you can eat, bottomless drinks option. They have a set menu and they bring you one of each of the items on the menu for the table. It was great that we all got to taste everything, as I love that tapas style of eating. It was A LOT of food though, there were 4 of us and we had to take some home - which they were fine with. The drinks were incredible, really unique and tasty options! And the music and burlesque show were great as well. An all around fantastic experience - food, drinks and entertainment!

We stopped in after the statue of liberty tour. And the vibe is so cute here. The food was variable. The empanadas were really good. And the quesadillas were as well. But the tacos just did not to do it for me. Take it with a grain of salt since we ordered the veggie options. Things just weren't as balanced. Everything lacked salt and acid. Had better. Had worse.

Best hidden gem for authentic Mexican in NYC!!! Signage outside isn’t great to see but isn’t that how you find the best restaurants? Food was delicious- spicy margarita-yum Cool vibe

Food is not amazing but it was a fun afternoon for my husband and I in NYC. We were hungy and decided to just walk in to a place. We were not expecting the live entertainment 🤣Let's just say, do not bring your kids. Drinks were good, we sat at the bar because it was packed.

A newly popular mid-priced Mexican restaurant with a nice interior and a lot of thought put into the menu. However, they are still working out the kinks here. The food was artfully displayed and, well, bland. Bland doesn't work for Mexican food, in my opinion. It was not just one dish either. I actually can't remember an appetizer at a Mexican restaurant that looked better and tasted more bland. Not bad, just bland--as in very little taste. I had a chance to meet the manager, who was very focused and, I'll bet, will have this place in improved shape very soon. I'll try it again in the future largely based on her effort, but today, it's a little loco and a little bland. Nice people. Hope it gets better.

We had a friendly server. Food was very good. We had the burnt cheese steak tacos. All in all it was a perfect experience.

This spot takes advantage of groups and double changes for drinks. They double charged my coworkers and I for out shots x we had 32 shots they charged 86. One of my coworkers got sick so we had to leave and only realized after. The hostess was RUDE!

We spotted this restaurant just across the street from our hotel and decided to give it a try for an early lunch and we are glad that we did. This restaurant is a gem. The Día Los Múertes decor is tasteful and attractive, mixed with eclectic Latin American kitsch that adds a lot of color and charm. Everywhere we looked there was something new to see...and it wasn’t a TV showing a ball game. At the back of the restaurant they had one TV and a discreet wall projector (nice touch) that played a pleasant loop of aerial footage of New York at night. The service was good with our waiter being prompt and attentive. The food was good. We shared the guacamole—fresh and delectably spicy. The chips tasted store bought (is there a Sam’s Club in New York?) but they carried the guac well. I had the flauntas de chiroz, yummy. Cindy had the quesadillas, which she seemed to like. Overall, good place. Not worth a detour to, but if you are in the area I would encourage you to stop by. Oh, wait. There is a reason to detour. We were there for brunch and we ordered al carte. However, they have a brunch special. For $65 all the drinks (mimosas, margaritas, etc) you want and food, or for $35 limitless food. Well, limitless in that you have an hour to get what you can down.

The food here is acceptable, but not much above the level of, say, Chipotle. The prices are what is shocking: A smallish taco bowl salad with a half a chicken breast for $20, an overly sour house margarita clearly made with a mix for $14. The prices are a rip off, and they know it. There is almost nothing open in the evening at this end of Manhattan, so they know a captive audience when they see one. There’s not even much of an attempt to provide decent service. We should have planned better and found more acceptable food outside of the neighborhood.

I was staying in the hotel opposite with my friend and we thought we would pop in on the off chance. We went 3 times during our trip and loved every visit! The food was great and we both loved the frozen margaritas! Staff were really attentive and friendly. The decor was also lovely and it’s nice cozy. I defo recommend.

The restaurant is dimly lit at night, making it difficult to read the menu. I used my phone flashlight. I ordered the California salad with chicken. It was refreshing and the chicken was cooked well. Though this was two days ago, I cannot remember the waitress's name. I just remember feeling rushed. The restaurant is in a great location.

My family and I stopped at this restaurant for lunch while exploring the Financial District on a sightseeing trip in New York City. One of our family members is a young lady with special needs who uses a wheelchair. As there were three fairly steep steps to enter the restaurant, I went in to ask the hostess if there was an accessible entrance to which she answered "No, can't help you." Since we were hot and thirsty, rather than trying to find another place my daughter and I carried the wheelchair up the steps. Even though the restaurant was not overly busy and there were several able-bodied male servers there, including a gentleman who appeared to be the manager, nobody offered to help. Once in, the food was a bit pricey but good, and the service was average. On our way out, another customer offered to help us carry the chair back down the steps, while the wait staff and manager ignored the entire situation. For this reason I would definitely not recommend supporting this restaurant. Not only do they have no regard for the ADA law that requires them to make accommodations for wheelchairs, they were not even willing to provide us with basic assistance so our family member could enjoy a meal like everyone else.

Last night in NYC decided to eat close to the hotel for convenience. We had the chicken chimichanga and the chicken enchilada dinners. The dinners were delicious with the exception of the dry rice. The guacamole was nice and fresh. We asked for Coke to drink however It was Pepsi which is not uncommon in the city. This was not a quiet place to eat. We asked the waiter if this was common and he told us it gets louder towards the weekends. If you want to shout at each other while having dinner then you found the right place. As the waiter said it must be the tequila!

We have breakfast at Toro Loco during the week of the New York Marathon following a partnership with our tour operator. Everything was perfect from start to finish. We even have dinner there 2 nights, the dishes are great and not too expensive for New York. If I have to return to New York, I will not hesitate to return.

Stopped in for a quick dinner because location is across from my hotel. Very fun atmosphere and attentive staff. The drinks were amazing. The food wasn’t bad. Taco plate was about $15. Would definitely return for the drinks.

We were in NYC for the Christmas Holiday and this restaurant was delicious. The staff was friendly and were willing to make accommodations that were not on the menu. Chips were fresh and tasty.

We came here because we heard they had a burlesque brunch. But, it’s on Saturdays and not Sundays as we learned. The atmosphere is nice. The bottomless drinks were fun and a great deal. The blood orange margaritas are amazing!! The mezcal mule wasn’t nearly as amazing. The food?? Eat before you come: it’s pedestrian at best. Totally devoid of anything remotely resembling seasoning. That code for bland as hell. Basically, come for the drinks, but eat before you come.

Toro Loco did not disappoint on my second visit. We booked a Drag Brunch for my boyfriend's birthday and had amazinngg time! The drag queens put on great performance (Watch out for the big girls!! Loved every second of it) the staff was attentive, and last but not least my breakfast burrito was good! Unfortunately, there was a mistake on the bill which included a bunch of stuff we didn't ordered but it was quickly corrected by the staff. With that being said, I will definitely be back for a third time. Thank you all for a great experience :)

Had lunch at Toro Loco in the Bowling Green neighborhood today. The guacamole and hand pickled jalapeños are especially good! We enjoyed sitting at the bar and watch the tequila magic unfold. The staff was warm and welcoming and the service was perfect. Looking forward to trying everything on their menu!

Stopped in here for dinner one night in NYC and it was so good I came back the next night as well. They have several beers on tap, including a couple made for them locally. The service was good, but what makes the place is the food. I had the nachos the first night and they were just great. They pickle the jalapeños and carrots in house and add them to the nachos for the perfect kick. Came back for the carne asado tacos the next night. Cooked to perfection with corn tortillas, guacamole, cilantro and cheese. Just delicious! Highly recommended!

My first visit to Toro Loco was last night. The wife had been here once before. A nice night for a walk. We happened upon Toro Loco and were immediately greeted and offered an outdoor table. Based on previous reviews, I ordered the chicken nachos $19 as my meal. I'm glad I did. They were delicious. Nice glob of guac on top. Perfect topping to chips ratio. Perfect amount of heat for me...which is nice "background burn"...nothing too radical...but you know it is there. Washed them down with a Corona, and I was a happy camper. Service was great. A very nice evening in FiDi during the pandemic.

Small but super good food. The wait staff was so nice and helpful to travelers with small children. I wish we could have gone back there again

This place is the best fun to go to in that area of NYC. When everything is closed and boring, this place makes you believe you're in the East village sipping on quality cocktails. If you get the pleasure, make sure you ask for Amanda, a funny server that will ensure your party has the best night!

I loved this place It was right across the street from the Hilton so it was very convient since it was 36 degrees outside . I had a quesadilla, beans and a lime magarita.... The drink cost $16 the meal, $17. I did not get a full quesadilla it was only half( I guess NY does the calorie count for you and gives a small portion). They require vaccine cards which is great, however the seating is so close inside you could easly catch COVID. The waiters did not have on mask either. We dis have option to dine out side in an enclosed tent on the street which was nice. Over all it was a nice atmosphere and the food was great.

We checked in late at the Doubletree across the street and were just looking for “a place to eat!” Not a big fan of Mexican we decided to try Toro Loco as we had seen a small group of happy people exiting. When we got into this typical NYC restaurant (bar in front... seating then the kitchen) we were excited by the friendly happy workers. Everyone seemed to be in a genuinely good mood. We arrived at 10PM so had a modest, yet yummy dinner.... in the really well decorated and very clean restaurant. When our waiter learned it was my birthday he got us tequila shots. All in all... the it was a great night. We are already planning our next visit.

Colorful, clean place, attentive staff. Quality products and quantity. I recommend. Typical Latin American dishes.

I was really disappointed with this restaurant. I would give most of the food here a 2 star and gave it an extra star for the service. The decor is really nice and the ambiance is a lot of fun. They also have a really nice backyard patio. The service was pretty good. Everyone was attentive and checked in on us during the meal which we appreciated. I got their frozen margarita, it was bitter and didn't really taste like much. As appetizers we got the guacamole and veggie empanadas. The guacamole was spicy as we had asked for it but unfortunately it was under seasoned including the salt. The empanadas filling was also very under seasoned, it was bland and didn't taste like anything. The crust of the empanada itself was very thick and doughy. All three empanadas had a different consistency when it came to the crust. As an entree, we got the cauliflower pastor tacos. The sauce it came with was delicious and well seasoned. The tacos were pretty good. Their Adobo fries were also pretty good but just a bit soggy. Their rice and beans were also unfortunately under seasoned and lacked salt. I don't think I'll be coming back here.
Average Mexican Fare
An average Mexican restaurant with regular Mexican fare but with superb service! The staff is very attentive, friendly and efficient! The portions are generous. The new tacos with Beyond meat (meatless dish) was good. The food is average and nothing to write home about.
