A quiet place with good food. I was beginning to think they do not exist any longer. My friend and I went to the theatre for a Sunday Matinee and she suggested that we go to Tracks. I was astounded to hear that this kind of a place existed in the LIRR station. My hamburger was done exactly the way I ordered it AND it was delicious. The portions were more than ample and we could sit and wait comfortably for our train. I will be using this place in the future.

I am from the NYC area and I am familiar with many bars and grills in the City; however, I had never been to Tracks before. It is located in Penn Station which sounds weird in itself, but you would be very surprised. It is a great bar and grill with fresh seafood and a great atmosphere. The wait staff was very friendly and the beer selection was great. The beers were cold and reasonably priced. I met friends here before teh Ranger game at MSG and returned after the game. It is not dingy and you do not feel as if you are underground in a train station. I especially liked that they make the bar area look as if you are in an old school train keeping with the theme of its location. I highly recommend stopping in and checking it out for yourself ~ you won't be dissapointed.

With all of the construction in Penn Station, food options are limited. The same is true on the street. We found that Tracks Raw Bar and Grill to be an excellent option. Our group of ten stopped by for an early dinner. The staff is hard working and on top of things. While different people served us, they all were on their game. We ordered a variety of entrees, small plates and appetizers Everyone said they had good food. My salad was very fresh and well presented. The calamari was good, but not great. With the tip, we came in at $40 a person including the drinks. A very fair price.

Block from train the rail themed bar with great welcoming staff. Clam Chowder my go to. Game nites crazy fun...

I needed quite an expedition deep into Penn Station (look on the lower level) to find Tracks but it was an incredible experience. It's somewhere between a sports bar and a diner with an incredible raw bar. A fresh selection of delicious oysters a solid menu with seafood and meat as well as the largest NY Cheesecake I have ever seen. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, they also know how to serve tea :).

While waiting for our train home out of Penn Station, we visited this comfortable bar and grill for a bite to eat. It is located in Penn Station on the level with the LIRR right next to the ticketbooths. Several Tripadvisor reviews raved about the NE clam chowder - so we ordered it. A nice size serving of thick creamy chowder packed with easy to find pieces of clams and potatoes. My husband really likes raw oysters - there were 7 varieties to choose from on the day we were there. He tried 2 different varieties to compose one dozen. I opted for the crab cake sandwich - another good choice. This was large crab cake with lots of crab, not breading like many crab cakes. Many on tap beer choices. This is a long restaurnat with the bar in the front and booths in the back. Efficient service and reasonalbe wait times for your food. A good place to satifsy an empty stomach before catching the train!

Needed to meet a client when in NYC. They were on Long Island, I was staying in NJ found Tracks and it was a perfect meeting place. The food was great and the service was very good. A great snap shot of life in the city in a friendly atmosphere.

Buried right in the death of Penn Station a bustling area full of places to go you find Tracks on the 2ndlower floor right at the back, once you enter the restaurant well when we did the bar was packed with iron maiden band members and fans waiting for the concert, what an atmosphere, definitely have the garlic bread to star but all the mains are so good you can't even make a bad decision, plus the service was amazing Good luck on your food adventures.

A must try fantastic oysters and clam bar. Heart of penn station š. Food was delicious š I make it a monthly lunch š„ spot with business acquaintances. Plenty of servers and bar tenders booths in the back

This unpretentiousness NYC classic offers a great raw bar (oysters, clams, shrimp), great clam chowder, very nicely done pub fare, and a friendly bar. Long located inside Penn Station, renovations in the station forced it to relocate just across 31st Street.

The food is outstanding for this bar at Penn Station. The wings are some of the best as are the nachos, burgers, salmon appetizers and the entrees. We have enjoyed all the food here, so try anything. The drinks are mixed with a little extra care so you know that the service is outstanding. They always treat you like an old friend and cater to your every need. YES WE LOVE THIS PLACE>

Been here many times waiting for a train. This place is the real deal - great drink selection and the food is terrific too. I'm not a fan of oysters but I heard they are great. I've eaten here 2-3 times and never had a bad bite!

Large bar in penn station in manhattan thatās good for a drink before or after a show or game at type garden or to end a long day and begin the commute home. But omg!!!! Their raw bar and made to order lobster rolls are such an unexpected and very delicious surprise. Who knew?? The bartenders are quick and helpful. Great bar selection of anything you can imagine wine and bubbly too! My new go to when at penn!

I saw a letter "A" on the restaurant window so decided to see if it warranted that. Considering it is situated in a major NYC station, I was kind of apprehensive knowing lowly critters are probably attracted to this place as well. There is a long bar at one end that can accommodate about thirty people or more. At the other end is the restaurant. The place looks well-maintained and clean. The food is quite good especially the clam chowder in a bread bowl. The portions are generous. We had the Chicken Marsala with sweet potato fries. It was delicious. Also had the soft shelled crabs with avocado salad. That was good too. Food was fresh with the right amount of flavoring. Although it is in the middle of a busy train station, we couldn't tell. I was there one evening during rush hour, although the bar was filled with after work revelers, the restaurant was somehow insulated from the noise. Service was good and accommodating.

A cousin turned me on to this place when we met for dinner a couple of years ago (I was changing trains, he lives in NYC). These days, I go through Penn Station quite a bit. Tracks is my go to place for dinner when waiting for an outbound train. A pub, raw bar, and restaurant, and just about the best ribs I've had in the Northeast. Who could ask for more?

We had some time to kill before a long train ride home and were happy to find a place to sit and eat in the terminal. They also have a long bar and a raw bar. We sat in a booth and had salads and wine. The service was very good and food came quickly. I had a mozzarella and tomato salad which was tasty. The prices were not bad for Manhattan. The menu was varied enough- some seafood, sandwiches, burgers, pasta. Enough choices for most people to find something. I would definitely come here again if I have a train leaving from here.

On a recent visit to NYC, I popped into Tracksā new location on 31st Street, across from Penn Station. This is their new location after being closed for renovation in Penn Station, and I think I like this location better. Easier to find, and more spacious to boot. Tracks also retained their railroad decor in making the move to their new location ⦠great ambience. Tracks serves up a wide range of food, but to me itās an oyster bar. They typically have 4-6 different oysters available, served up raw. I had the West Coast Kusshi and Malpeques from Prince Edward Island. Fresh, a little briny, and perfectly shucked. But that was after a bowl of their rightly-acclaimed clam chowder. Tracks has everything going for it ⦠excellent food, friendly and helpful staff, reasonable prices, and a superb Midtown location.

THIS is the quintesential Irish pub! The Guiness is fantastic! This pub is one of only 9 pubs to receive the Guiness Gold Medal award, awarded by Guiness! A lot of the staff are 'off the boat' Irish, who REALLY know how to pour a 'proper Guiness'. The food is excellent, and reasonably priced. Every trip into Manhattan begins, and ends, at Tracks! St. Patrick's Day was a blast, and ending the day at Tracks was PERFECT! Actually, i spent most of the evening there, from 3p to almost 9p! It is also my children's favorite place. They are 'wing snobs'. Only Track's wings can satisfy them! The burgers are delicious, but on St Pat's Day, it is the corned beef that is a must!

Second visit to this restaurant for lunch while waiting for an Amtrak train. Love the location/history and on a HOT July day, a much more enjoyable option than anything else in Penn Station.

I went with my daughter before a Ranger game and was impressed. Great pub style food and excellent service. Diffidently will be eating there before another game.

Horrible woman bartender and her manager. Very racist and hates Indian customers. Used curse word with customers but no apologies rather very insulting, discriminatory behavior. Horrible service , rude racist woman bartender and her manager encourages her behavior. No respect for customers, when asked them to behave politely they will throw you out of their restaurant. Extremely racist , rude disrespectful staff.

Buried in the bowels of Penn Station, this unassuming restaurant is a favorite of commuters. Walk past the long and busy bar to the back where tables offer a quiet respite from the hustle of the station. I really love their shrimp cocktail, little neck clams and much more....always fresh and delicious. Guacamole is a must. Even their cheesecake is super sensational. The staff is attentive and professional. You can have a quick bite here or a leisurely meal.

We pooped in here by chance for a beer and ended up ordering a tray of seafood for $25. It was amazing, oysters, mussels, clams and prawns with a lovely cocktail glass of sauce, we loved every second, great service at the bar and great food! Will defineltely be back! Thank you, highly recommended

We had an hour to kill before our train, so we ducked in here to have a quick drink and bite to eat. Service was friendly and quick! The chicken quesadilla was really good with plenty of guac, sour cream and pico on the side! Fun place to watch sports...or wait for your train!

We stayed at a hotel just near Penn Station and stumbled across Tracks one evening after a long day's sightseeing. It's not much to look at from the outside but once seated it is very comfortable and easy to forget you're sitting in a train station concourse. Our waitress was really friendly and looked after us well. But the best bit is the food! The seafood was fresh and tasted great. Every item we chose from the menu was outstanding and there was a great range of oysters to choose from. We ended up eating there twice during our stay in New York and would highly recommend.

Mainly I am in Penn catching Amtrak. I missed a train and had over two hours to wait until the next one. So I used this app to find something better than the TGIF near the Amtrak area (better than the TGIF being a rather low bar.) To find Tracks required spelunking into the bowels of Penn, where like some Renaissance explorer or character in Land of the Lost, I emerged in the LIRR passenger area. It was the undiscovered country. It was different than the Penn further towards the sunlight. Different sights, sounds, the people looked and dressed in an exotic and confused fashion. And there on the left side of LIRR ticket windows was Tracks. It has am endless mahogany bar, hipster soundtrack, professional bartender and a really good sea food menu. It could make a go of it as a topside restaurant exposed to the sunlight. I had a raw bar sampler and a bloody mary. Both were notable. The clams, shrimp, oysters, and scallops were fresh and the drink was strong and spicy. I had a side of house made guacamole and chips that were also really good. Next time I am in NY I might even take friends on the journey down just for some seafood and cocktails here. As well as the exotic location. If you are not jazzed by the raw bar there are also a variety of cooked appetizers and entrees, including vegetarian, and other non-seafood.

Tracks is the only heavenly spot in NYC Pennsylvania station. AUTHENTIC Irish bar. All Irish bartenders tending to longest straight bar in NYC. 109 FEET long ! Long narrow nirvana of a cozy warm comfortable place w train car mood.Consistently excellent food ! .Very positive warm FRIENDLY STAFF. tell NEV Mark recommended I send you there The perfect Irish pub right in PENN STATION. great food. Nachos. Chicken raw bar large variety of food choices They donāt rush you out and people assembled there all seem to be st the same festive IRISH wedding. Great WARM atmosphere. Not a lot of folks even know Its there. On lower LIRR LEVEL to left of LIRR ticket window. Strong following of regulars ... If you want to see a lot of šs FROM crew and customers alike head to TRACKS. A hidden treasure with GREAT FOOD And rockin cocktails beer and a strong sense of being WELCOME. Serves food till midnight night till Sundayās till 9 If you are in AMTRAK PENN STATION NYC - MAKE A BEES line to the Best Track in the train station. TRACKS ! You will thank me! Mark J

Great food and service. Had grilled shrimp/ avocado salad Everything was good Conveniently located across from MSG on 31 st St

It's a small bar in Penn Station that was very busy after a Ranger game. The long narrow tunnel between the bar and the wall of small tables made it a slow crawl to the back of the bar where there was seating. When we made it to a table, the service almost non existent. After we got drinks from the bar and back to our seats, service arrived and was pissed that we were making do without her. It went downhill after that. I will find other post game locations next time.

THE WORST place we have ever been! The service was matched only by the rudest, most disgusting bartender we've ever encountered (he told my husband quite bluntly to do something to himself that is physically impossible). The man should find himself another line of work that doesn't involve dealing with the public. I would highly suggest staying away from this place, even if it is the only bar in Penn Station since they replaced TGI Fridays with yet another Duane Reade. You'd be better off heading upstairs to another lounge. I wrote an email to the manager, Bruce, who didn't even have the courtesy to reply. I would rate this place less than one if it would let me.

As a former commuter from Long Island to Manhattan, I used to be a regular at Tracks. It is a great retreat from the bustle of Manhattan and Penn Station - friendly service, great food and an intoxicating commotion.

I was just there Tuesday after a Steely Dan concert.....One of my favorite low keyed bars with decent calamari and a really nice selection of fresh oysters and clams......they close fairly early though around 1230......

Everyone was super friendly and professional. Felt like a regular the moment we walked in. If you are looking for a place near MSG that is relaxed and comfortable this is your spot. We didn't want to leave.

We've been by this place hundreds of times, and on a recent trip to a matinee show, we stopped in for a leisurely lunch with a child. We were impressed with the cleanliness, food selections and the serving sizes. All were great, so we will certainly be back! Our "Tracks" mystery is solved, at last!

This was our last stop on a three day NYC weekend and what better way to end it. A little tricky to find (thank you NYPD for the directions). We didnāt eat, just a cocktail. Better than walking around the area on the street.

Stopped in here before a Billy Joel concert and was surprised how fresh and nicely prepared the food was. I had the Spinach salad with sea scallops and it was really good. The raw bar is exceedingly fresh and tasty. Sandwiches, burgers, and sides were enjoyed by all six members of our group. Would definitely recommend as a place in Penn to grab a quick bite and feel like you are in a restaurant removed from Penn.

Was planning to go to Grand Central Oyster Bar but they were closed. I looked for a good alternative and found this oyster bar in Pennsylvania station. They had a good selection of oysters that were fresh and shucked well. And, the food was delivered quickly. But, our server knew little about the menu. The order was incorrect. Menu items were not as described. It was pretty clear that she was making up "house cocktails" on the fly (and they tasted off). The other odd note is that the bar was about 80% men --- nothing wrong with that but it's was noticeably weird.

The taste of lobster ravioly is good but the portion is very small which be served in the small dics as well. Not worth for 18.95$. In general you will have only 5 pieces of pasta. I then have to move to other restaurant to finish my lunch.

The web site for this place claims that it is the 'Oyster Bar of Penn Station'. The Oyster Bar being referred to is the elegant old seafood place in Grand Central Terminal. Sadly, it's a bit frayed about the edges today, but one can still sense the sophistication that earned it a reputation as one of New York's finest restaurants. The Tracks claim is correct that it is in Penn Station, and it does serve some seafood, but it's a major misrepresentation to claim that its anything at all like the Oyster Bar. Tracks is an Irish pub buried deep within Penn Station. In fact, that's the first problem - it's at the end of the Long Island Railroad concourse, hidden in a corner, and with no signs directing customers to get there. I eventually asked the clerk in a Hudson's News how to find it, and his directions help - some. Second, it's a long, narrow space. There are two entrances, one into the restaurant from a back hall that appears to come from one of the platforms, and the other from the main concourse into the bar. We had to walk through the bar around 5pm on a Friday night; the bar was crowded and very noisy. Frankly, wife almost wanted to leave before we got to a table because the place was really uninviting. While Tracks does serve some seafood (and oysters), it's really an Irish pub where the staples on the menu are burgers and shepherd's pie. Don't get me wrong - I like burgers and shepherd's pie. But it would be better to advertise itself for what it really is, rather thant to try to falsely claim something more elegant. Son had a crab burger that he report to be very good - very spicy, but still very good. Wife had a grilled tuna salad - she liked the tuna, but reported that rather than baby arugula, it was made with grandpa arugula - old and tough. I had a paella special that was generous, but disappointing. Paella is a baked saffron-spiced casserole with fin fish, shell fish, chicken, tomatoes, and rice. I was served a plate of commercial rice pilaff accompanied by a variety of shellfish, fin fish, and chicken, and seasoned with pimento - not a baked casserole, no tomato, and no saffron. It tasted fine, but like the overall restaurant, was misrepresented. I've read reports suggesting that Tracks also had a problem with the attitude of their wait staff. I will say that our waitress was very pleasant and friendly. There are better places to choose from in Penn Station. Tracks would be a fine place to have a beer while waiting for a delayed train, but its not worth seeking out for a nice dinner.

Been going to Tracks for years now, and have never had a bad meal. Service (by Irish bartenders and wait staff) is always excellent, and the food is wonderful. Great raw bar with an extensive selection of oysters from various regions of North America. I had the best soft shell crabs ever at Tracks, better than I get at the seafood restaurants on Long Island. Fish and chips, salads, burgers....you can't go wrong with anything you order. Try the root beer battered chicken fingers!

Stopped in for a quick hamburger between destinations. I recommend it for its convenience more than its quality, but it's ok. Tracks has a slightly dingy feel that's well suited for the bar area. Decor and tables are simple, clean, and a little battered. The service was very friendly, polite, and accommodating - the best thing about the dinner was the service. I ordered a hamburger with American cheese and substituted onion rings for fries. The burger was properly done (medium) and, although the onion slice was skimpy (small and super thinly sliced), the tomato and lettuce were ok. The onion rings, freshly cooked and too hot to eat when they arrived, were so greasy they dripped on my shirt. I want to go again sometime for a beer and appetizers, but I will go with friends and expect more from the company than from the food.

This restaurant claims to be like the Oyster Bar in Penn station. It couldn't be more different. It is a narrow, thin space with a low ceiling and a very long bar. The space is covered in bathroom tile. The food is mediocre at best. The food is breaded, creamed & re-heated fare. The bartenders are alternately conciliatory to the regulars and rude to the rest. Very off-putting. If you have to meet someone at Penn Station, I highly recommend Lugo's instead (at 33rd St. and 8th Ave.) It is above ground (not in the basement like Tracks) with soaring ceilings, and an outside patio...and the food is fresh.

Talkative locals at the bar. Expensive beer by my midwestern standards. Food was good. Good decor and interesting location.

We stopped at this place on the way to Hudson Yards for a beer and asked for the squid and wings, delicious, the best, surprised us!!! The perfect cooking of both dishes and delicious sauces!!!

Great little place. Good food, good prices, directly across from MSG entrance on 31st between 7th and 8th. Ribs were great, so was steak sandwich. Chili mustāve been good because my daughter devoured it. Friendly people, friendly staff.. and they give you $10 off parking at the garage next door. I donāt know how much more you could ask for. Probably packed for Rangers and Knicks game, I think we just missed the Ranger crowd. Donāt pass up on it because itās small and kind of out of the way.

I have been going 2 Tracks for many years. The service has always been consistantly great The best food in Penn Station fresh seafood n raw bar cold tap beer and the train decor all tie in to a great experience all round. The cost is not much more than the Fridays. But the quality beats them all! Tracks is my go to everytime I am in Penn especially during baseball season!! Love them Yankees!

I have a secret - in the unlikely event anyone asks me about this bar I deny knowing about it or ask why they would eat in Penn Station implying that I'd go elsewhere. Truth is - the food and service here are incredible. If you're waiting for a train you will absolutely lose track of time in here and really forget you are in Penn Station. Leaving hit you like a sudden snap back into reality. I so highly recommend the lobster ravioli, the New England Clam Chowder, the tracks Buffalo burger, add fresh mozzarella and red peppers. The wings, fries and other appetizers are also great and perfect to share. Don't come here without ordering a Smithwicks!

My friend & I met up after work to Track Raw bar & grill. Great place to eat & relax after work. Had The Raw platter of seafood. Very fresh!

OK food in bowels of Penn Station/LIRR concourse. Dining area had many empty, yet uncleaned tables-full of meal debris. Waitstaff seemed unconcerned about seating customers or ensuring tables were cleared. Tracks was formerly dependable with decent if unremarkable food, but staff attitude and their seeming lack of concern detracts from overall experience.

You wouldn't go out of your way to go to Penn Station just to eat. But Tracks is actually worth the detour if you're heading through. Normally, I'll try to find a spot at the gigantic bar but it can be VERY packed. They pour great beers and have excellent bar tenders. If you can't get a spot there, then it's still worth grabbing a table. I've had a number of items on the menu but the top meal there, in my opinion, is any of their raw platters. The clams, oysters, mussels, shrimp, lobster...etc., is all extremely fresh and perfect. They really take pride in their raw bar which is actually one of the best in the city (no joke). And the prices are surprisingly reasonable. They also make a great chowder. If you're looking for bar food including wings, burgers, fish n chips, etc., they have that too along with a full menu. Their food is generally good and certainly better than what else you'll find in Penn Station. But it's the raw bar that really shines. In case you're looking for it...lower level near the LIRR waiting area and the Red Line / 7th Avenue side of Penn.

Any time I will be near Penn Station there will be a great chance that I will stop into this bar. I am a fan of fresh raw oysters and Tracks did not disappoint. The oyster selection itself was fantastic and the location is quite unique. The beer choices were excellent and the draft beer was cold and fresh tasting. I look forward to returning to this location.

Iāve been to Tracks a few times with friends while visiting NY..itās great! The staff is friendly..the food and drinks great!! Shout out to Nev the Irish Bartender...he MAKES THE EXPERIENCE!! ā¤ļøā¤ļø

What a great little place hidden in plain sight somewhere in the bowels of Penn Station! Came here with a group of friendsārather convenient given that a few of them were leaving town by train from this stationāand what a nice surprise: rather interesting dĆ©cor (kind of stopped in time somewhere in the 60sā¦); not bad food (I had a seafood appetizer followed by the lobster raviolis and both were good); nice service; and āproperā prices (well in line with expectations for NY standards). Just one complaint: it closes way too early on Sunday nights!

Fabulous oysters, but expensive. However, where else in NYC can you go on Monday, return on Thursday; and have a barmaid who remembers your drink AND your food order? AND you are an obvious tourist? An incredible experience, not to be missed for oyster lovers!

Sometimes after a long day you just need a place to "unwind." Yesterday was the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 and my friend and I met up to both pay respects to the many who were lost that day and those who "pitched in," and planned to "toast" them as well. Towards the end of a long day, we stopped at "Tracks," a bar and restaurant near the LIRR tracks at Pennsylvania Station (underneath Madison Square Garden). Though we've both eaten there before and the food was good (and I can DEFINITELY RECOMMEND the raw bar), I'm writing solely about the "bar" part in this interview. We sat down and enjoyed the simple "bar like" atmosphere. This place is NOT like "Chili's" or some "downtown club" but rather a "tavern" with a long bar and a restaurant in the back. You can order the standard drinks though they have some more exotic libations, and the bartenders do an outstanding job of getting you exactly what you want or doing a darn good job trying. In fact just for fun, I ordered a "Vesper," the signature "James Bond drink," named for arguably James' most important and seminal love interest. Unfortunately for the bartender, one of the vital ingredients is "Kina Lillet," which is a French wine that is normally NOT stocked." She helped me look up what Kina Lillet is and actually figured out a solution which made the rather strong concoction taste, well... tasty. Not much a review of the establishment I know, but once you go there, you'll appreciate me saying, "go there." If you have a long wait for your train or for someone to arrive, or you want to do like I do and occasionally take the train ride in just for a drink there (St. Patty's Day was another good occasion to visit there), stop by Tracks!

Great restaurant very close to us in a great unique location. Debbie was excellent! Soup was excellent and oysters too

the seafood raw bar is excellent overalll I liked the food, oysters, clams its a reasonable very good location

When I'm at a train station or airport, nothing matters more than timely service. No matter how good the food is, its of no use if I have to leave before it gets to my table. My experience at tracks was stellar in this regard, and the oysters were pretty good too. Good selection of different kinds of east coast and west coast oysters, reasonable prices, good beer selection. Highly recommended!

As we were dragging our bags from NJT, we came across this delicious surprise deep inside Penn Station. The lobster roll was the best I've had anywhere including the Hamptons. Huge chunks, lightly tossed in dressing. The blue point oysters were the cleanest, freshest taking I've had in years. We also tried an amazing crab cake sandwich. Both came with an abundance of sweet potato fries and cole slaw. Service was friendly and accommodating. Don't bother with the Japanese oysters. Tiny and pricey. Raw lovers have the choice of individual pieces or towers of seafood. Find Tracks. Worth the search

It was always a good spot located in Penn Station which closed because of the renovations. This is bigger brighter, airier. The menu is perfect for lunch with salads, sandwiches, and burgers. A big bar and lots of tvs. I would classify it as a sports bar. Food is always fresh and service is fine. Perfect for before the Garden Event

Tracks Raw Bar & Grill is located on the lower level (Long Island RailRoad Level) of Penn Station, New York, NY. The correct address is: 7th Avenue and 34th Street. The bar has to be the longest bar in New York City --- nearly a city block long! The hospitality is great, the drinks are great, and the food is superb, particularly the seafood. Try the Clamcakes or the Shrimps stuffed with Crabmeat for appetizers. For more information, go to their website: www.tracksbargrill.com

If you are waiting for your train and are hungry in penn station tracks raw bar is the place to go.Waiting for my son train we had a pint of Guinness then ordered the silver seafood sampler. The oysters and clams were fresh and delicious. Should have gotten the bigger sampler. My wife had the mahi wrap . Loaded with fish and very tasty. Also don't forget the nachos . I highly recommend going here if you are near penn.

I love this place. I travel to NY on Amtrak quite a bit, and always make it a point to have a meal at Tracks. It bills itself as Penn Station's answer to the Oyster Bar at Grand Central; but Tracks is much much better. The menu is limited, but the seafood is outstanding. I always get a shrimp cocktail, which is superb, and New England clam chowder, which is among the best I've had. It has a raw bar, but I"m not much for oysters. I've had soft shell there, which were good not great. The service is friendly and usually pretty prompt. The atmosphere is Irish bar.

Great food, great drinks, and great service...in a train station? Shocking enough the answer was yes. My wife and I recently enjoyed an extended weekend out of town that began with a light lunch in Penn Station. We started with a 1/2 dozen Oysters - 2 Fire Islands, 2 East Ends, and 2 Plymouth Rocks - which were delicious (I liked the briny tang of the Plymouth Rocks best...your mileage may vary). The shrimp cocktail was good but not great...a solid B+. But the onion rings *were* great and the New England Clam Chowder was the best cream based NE chowder (i.e. not brine based) I've ever had. I enjoyed a draft Goose Island and my wife had an imperial pint of Magners Cider. Our server was friendly and efficient and had a lovely Irish lilt to her voice. The booth seats in which we sat were quite comfortable and the decor was fun in a bar meets train car kind of way. All in all an amazing find for Penn Station.

My son and I had lunch here when we arived at lunch time on a Friday. We had been here before and the food is really good I had the Lobster ravioli he had fish both great. We didnt have a very attentive waitress though which was a bit disappointing. Other times when we have visited we did have good service though so maybe it was just an off day for our server.

Cool spot, lots of local sports fans as MadisonSquare garden is next door. Oysters were excellent as was the Shrimp .Burgers were also a hit. Service was spot on.Everyone was extremely friendly, staff and customers as we were not locals. Typical sports bar.

For years I walked past the entrance to this restaurant in the bowels of Penn station on my way between the New Jersey Transit tracks and the number one Subway train to Lincoln Center, believing it to be a grungy diner. By good fortune one day I went in and discovered a wonderful seafood restaurant and bar where a glass of wine is filled to the rim because "We believe in a full pour", the sweet potato fries are the best I have ever had anywhere, the crab cakes are worthy of Baltimore and the raw bar is equal to any in other NYC train termini. Just don't try to get inside right before a hockey game at the Garden ...

I never thought I'd choose a restaurant in Penn Station to have raw clams. The location does not inspire confidence as it's not exactly a seaside location. I couldn't be more wrong. I had a great plate of Littleneck clams and Linguine with white clam sauce. Excellent in every way. Fresh and good sized portions serviced in a old school setting. We sat in a roomy booth near the extra long bar. In fact the longest bar in NYC. This is a real commuter bar for Long Island and New Jersey residents.

It's easy to miss this narrow bar and restaurant but if you have time to spare then it's a good stop. The Raw seafood was excellent. There's a good selection of oysters and the clams were great. Shrimp were just a little disappointing size wise but still tasty. Service a bit slow and don't expect a smile but then it's New York and it's very busy.

Iāve been eating here since the 90ās, when it was my hangout spot before Phish shows at MSG. Quality and affordable pub food, and never too crowded even on the night of a show. Then I found myself in the area on business and was old enough to enjoy the raw bar. Itās outstanding. Now itās where my son and I go when we are are at events at MSG. We ate there this weekend for the third time in a year, and ordered new entrees each time. 6/6 have been quality. Service is great, and they play excellent classic rock tunes on the jukebox.

We had a delicious meal in an oasis of quiet in Penn Station. The cod sandwich and sweet potatoes fries were perfect. The young woman whoo served us was very attentive. The ambience was old world train station. The art work delightful.

good selection of very cold beers and well made cocktails, very good bartenders, and the commuter crowd. The food is definitely a step above what you would expect in a train station and challenges most of the restaurants above ground. A raw bar with a top selection of oysters, clams and mussels. A kitchen that puts out one of the best burgers you will get as well as ahi salad, clam chowder and a very good lobster meal

I've been coming here for the seafood and raw bar for many years and always found it to be fresh and good value for what you get. Many people believe it rivals the Oyster Bar in Grand Central. The service is good but can be quite crowded before and after a concert or sporting event. This raw bar will not disappoint you.

My dad was told about this place before we left for our trip to the city. We trekked across New York and it was worth it for the fresh and delicious oysters. We only had the choice of one as they has sold out of the others but this didnt bother us. For main i has the steak sandwich which was nice meat. We all had the chips with our course and if i had to pick fault with anything it was these. Our plates were pilled high with deep fat fried chips and waffles but they were good , maybe just a little too much. We didnt booked a table, just walked in. Nice little place in Penn station.

The raw bar is very fresh & delicious! Drinks are pricey, but it's NYC. Plan on visiting again to sample other items on raw bar menu.

If you're into great service, great food, a friendly bustling atmosphere and experiencing this in an exstraordinary location you don't want to miss Tracks! Located far below the streets of Manhattan in the midst of the always busy Penn Station it was not the first place we thought to look for a bar/grill, but as others have commented, don't let this fool you. Give it go, I promise you won't be disappointed. Full marks from Denmark to Debbie and the Irish rogue behind the bar who makes this place shine!

Went here because of drinking made easy recommended this place. Had the gold star drink but it wasn't that good.

Ni e pleasant and friendly bar, next to m.s.g and penn Station.my father in law and I spent most nights in here having a drink.bar staff couldn't be more accommodating even if they couldn't understand half of what we said haha.ate here a couple of nights.fhe food was plentiful and nice.even tried oysters for the 1st time.would definitely recommend even though they served my father in law a half pint in a trifle glass haha (scottish joke)

We met some friends from Jersey here last night. Had a good time. The bar is very quaint. It is very busy and sometimes we were looked over by the waitress but overall it's a cool little bar. We did not eat so I can't say anything about the food.

This place is tucked away downstairs in Penn Station with a rather inauspicious entrance. The first impression we got was it was one very long bar but in the back are some tables where you can have a very comfortable, tasty and intimate seafood meal. Even though there were plenty of choices on the menu we opted just for raw oysters and clams. There were 6 or 8 oyster and 3 clam varieties available. We just got the Blue Point oysters and the cherrystone clams. We thought they were both great. We think this is a rather smaller cousin - though unrelated as far as we know - of the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station but it's pretty darn good just the same and very convenient if you're in Penn Station and you want a decent meal.

Good offerings of beer on tap complemented a nice oyster assortment -- we tried every variety and all were fine quality and not a spec of shell from shucking. The service was not at the level of the food: my first beer was dripping despite being short of a full pour, and put on the table without anything to deal with the mess; napkins only came when the appetizers arrived.

This restaurant is in a railroad station, and the dƩcor has model trains. The dishes have a railroad track pattern on them. I had a mozzarella burger as an entrƩe, and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

The food is surprisingly good considering the location; it's located before the DIY LIRR ticketing; the bar section upfront is a little loud but the sit down tables in the back are quiet so you can have a conversation

Tracks is a hidden gem right in Penn Station. I recommend the buffalo style calamari for an appetizer! Service is good as well as the rest of the menu. Never had a poor experience. Check it out for sure!

We were coming into the city from different directions. Where to meet and eat? Tracks of course! It has long been a favorite spot for me at Penn Station, and I think the oysters, service, and prices are better than their better known competition at Grand Central. We had a nice variety of local oysters and were very happy with the choice. If you are looking for a spot to eat and you are in the Penn Station area I think you will like this as a choice. Enjoy!

Down on the Long Island railroad level, this is a great place for a drink and good burger or sandwich before a game at MSG or while waiting for a train. Reasonably priced for where it is.

Excellent staff fun great music selection and food to die for without walking out of penn station into the cold where I didn't want to be. Check this place out best bar in the city

Super disappointed. Same exact place as Cafe 31, but with literally 6 entree items. I got the lobster ravioli which was 5 ravioli. Shameful. We just ate and we are now headed somewhere else to finish eating. As a side note, I'm average size 185 lbs. What a shame. Cafe 31 was a great place to eat before a show or game at the garden. This place is nothing.

You really have to be looking for this place to find it. We discovered it by doing a Web search for restaurants near Penn Station, to meet out-of-town relatives for a light dinner. Place was pretty empty on a Monday night but would probably get busy after the Knicks game. We sat in the tables at the very back. Nice railroad themed decor; even the plates had tracks around the rims. Decent restroom. The waitress was very nice and didn't rush us (though she never came back to refill our water glasses after mid-meal). I had the crab cake burger with sweet potato fries, both excellent and large portions. The others enjoyed their baked clams, caesar salad, grilled chicken sandwich, salmon salad, and lobster ravioli. We skipped the drinks since I had to drive afterwards and the cousins don't drink. Will have to come back sometime and try the cocktails -- and the raw bar.

As we were headed to Penn Station from Albany, my wife pointed out the ad for Tracks Raw Bar & Grill in the Amtrak magazine. Decided we had to stop there on the way back from DC (we had a two hour wait). Tracks is a hidden gem -- an unassuming entrance next to the LIRR ticket counters leads to a very long and narrow space with a beautiful mahogany bar over 100 feet long. I enjoyed a nice pint of Guinness (which was poured very carefully yielding a perfect head) while my wife had a glass of chardonnay. We both ordered a bowl of clam chowder (which was a meal in itself). The charming barmaid brought us a basket of crusty rolls to go with the chowder. U2, The Clash, and Midnight Oil played on the sound system. A very nice way to spend our time between trains! The chowder was excellent, and the service was outstanding.

Great food! Delicious clam chowder served in a huge bowl , very tasty. Turkey burger with a side salad and perfect pints of Stella. Good portions and quite affordable for the area.Fabulous service by Solange and the rest of the staff. Spacious restaurant, plenty of room for everyone without being too close. Definitely be back soon!

Service was good, brews were cold. I was a little disappointed in the very soggy calamari. I was surprised that the calamari still tasted good even though it was mushy. If it had been crispy, it would have been amazing. The shepherd's pie was really good too.

If you've never been there before it may be hard to find, but keep looking because it is worth it. The sign "Tracks" from a distance may make you think it is referring to the train tracks below, but that is not the case. It is located to the right of McDonalds and just to the left of the LIRR huge train schedule board. The staff are super friendly and courteous. Prices are reasonable for NYC and the food is very good.

Looking for a quick meal before we left town and stopped at Tracks. I guess my good sense should have told me that eating raw clams in what is basically a basement in a train station in the middle of Manhattan should not be a great idea, but I did it all the same. I also had a salad with some scallops. My lunch mate had a turkey burger. By the time we stood up, I could tell that something was not sitting just right. I can't put my finger on it, but the food just did not taste great. I thought the service was very attentive although at one point when I asked my server to let the person shucking the clams decide what kind I should have that day as they often know what is freshest, best etc, she basically said that he does not know anything and that he shucks what she tells him. The fact that the guy did not seem to speak English did not sit well with me as her comment felt a bit racist. I have no doubt he knew A LOT about those clams ā¦. Anyway, its better than eating the fast food that is down there and I would go back to have a drink at the long bar when you come in, but maybe not sit down for a full meal again ā¦. At least that was my experience.

A great place to unwinded after work or go to before a night out. The food is great and the service is better.

This is a hidden gem in Penn Station. We knew the surrounding area would be busy with people - the UN was on and the concert itself. We found Tracks and booked on the day. We were welcomed into the bar with a smile and a lovely Irish accent. We then had steaming hot cottage pie, salmon and sweet potato fries and a half rack of ribs and good old thick cut chips. The service was fast and the portions more than generous. We had soft drinks by there was a pint or two of Guinness going on. We then sauntered up to he Gardens and had a wonderful concert.

Usually bars in railway stations are full of seedy characters with no room to breathe. Tracks is unique in the fact that it's a modern clean bar with great beers and famous seafood. Well worth a visit before you get on the choo choo home.

This place has the best food, at a reasonable price, anywhere in the mid-town area! The Guiness is the finest in the city, and their other beer selections are fantastic. If you like Irish Whiskeys, or other spirits, they have it1 There is something for everyone in there. Whenever i go through Penn Station for an event in the city, my kids insist on stopping for hot wings (their favorite) and clam chowder (always fresh!). If i am alone, i really have a good time and drink half a dozen Guinesses! It just hits the spot!!

The dishes are well served and the staff are very welcoming. Very good value for money compared to other similar restaurants in the area.

Was Amazing service always great food wonderful! Was traveling for business for a month and had not been there. What happened service ok crab cakes really mediocre and portion literally cut in half donāt think any crab at all. So disappointed has been my Friday go to on the way home, any suggestions for new place?

I've been frequenting this pub for quite some time now. You could liken it to the Oyster Bar of Penn Station. Outstanding fresh shell fish and seafood. Great burgers, appetizers and desserts. Good bar and friendly wait staff. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Still love this place and will continue to come back since the drinks and atmosphere are the best as is the food, but i have to say i had the worst salad I've ever had . It was a Sunday night and quite empty so don't know if that had anything to do with it, but the spinach salad consisted of large course spinach leaves thrown on a dish with a strong balsamic vinegar soaking the leaves and 4 or 5 small scallops on the side for $17.95. The scallops were good but everything else (which was just spinach leaves) was inedible.
I will BE BACK
OK this being my first visit to NYC I was a little taken aback when I realized the place I was headed to was in the subway. I thought well this will be an adventure for sure! This truly is a diamond hidden in the rough. I had the blue point oysters and they truly were the best I have ever had and I was just in New Orleans a few months ago and had dozens of raw oysters on the half shell. I also had the crab cakes they were superb! Our waitress was wonderful. They completely won me over I am a fan!
