I recommend

A little cosy and very italian room with just the right amount of tables. Feels like a movie. The food is delicious, simple and good ingredients. Nothing modern, authentic family vibe.

Best meatballs!

By ang92366 |

I tried their meatballs recently on a food tour and they were the best! Extra large size and the sauce was very good. A must try at Pesce.

One of the best Italian restaurants in the Village

By Keith C |

I'm a BIG fan of Trattoria Pesce Pasta! The staff is outstanding, and the food is even better. Highly recommend the mussels marinara appetizer (small will feed a few people, and don't forgot to dip the bread in their fantastic sauce). Their fish specials are always fresh and great, and I'm very partial to the seafood pasta fra diavlo special...FANTASTIC!!

A reliable Italian restaurant in the Village. My wife and I enjoyed a Peroni, Prosciutto & Melon entree followed by spaghetti with meat sauce and inchiostrro risotto. Delicious!!

Good pasta

By Patti C |

This small cozy neighborhood restaurant has a broad menu and generous wine pours. The food was tasty tho seafood was a little overcooked. Wait staff was very nice.

Tiny bistro, full of charm and flavor

The service was excellent and the food was fabulous. Can't say enough good things about this charming bistro!

Disappointed

By julievaughan |

I always go to great lengths to research eating places before visiting places and I did the same when visiting Greenwich Village with my sister a few weeks ago. I'd read really good reviews about Trattoria Pesce Pasta so we walked the length of Bleeker Street to find it. It was fairly early so we weren't surprised to be the only ones in the restaurant - no problem. Our waiter seemed polite and bought our wine no problem. However, I ordered a fish dish but asked if I could have a small salad instead of the pasta side dish that was on offer. My sister also ordered fish but asked if she could have a small caprese salad ( which was on the Antipasta Menu) as a side dish instead of the broccoli on offer. Both requests were refused. I ended up with fish in a tomato sauce with a spaghetti bolognese as a side dish and my sister ended up with fish and a side dish of broccoli. Average food to say the least. Deserts were as you would expect in an Italian restaurant. During our meal the original waiter (whom I found slightly dismissive) handed us over to another waiter (much more amenable) while he sat down for his dinner. After the shining reviews of this restaurant, I have to say how disappointed I was and I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone else.

Incredible meatballs!

By Dland44192 |

Came to this adorable little trattoria on a cold December night looking for a cozy spot to enjoy an authentic Italian meal. We were not disappointed! First, when we stepped inside I thought we would have to wait a while as every table was full. We were greeted immediately and told a table would be ready in 10 minutes. We were seated 5 minutes later! As the name implies, fish and pasta are the specialties so I did get the whole branzino which was perfectly cooked! My husband ordered a pasta dish that was delicious as well but I must say the crowning glory to me was the meatball and sauce! I’m Italian and my dad was an Italian chef. I only loved my dads meatballs ( my sister comes very close). The meatballs here are fantastic! Soft, fragrant and full of flavor. Their sauce is exceptional as well! Next time I’m in NYC I may just come in for meatballs, sauce and bread! Oh and the house salad dressing is a must try! It was a wonderful garlicky, creamy vinaigrette that was not too heavy but just right! The service, food, atmosphere and price will keep me coming back for more!

Great service clean convenient fine red snapper

By SueSyo |

In keeping with the pesce pasta theme we had red snapper with capers olives and mushrooms plus lasagna, and swapped plates mid meal. The snapper was so moist fresh and well-flavored, and the lasagna sauce had nice cheese in/on it. The waiters were really professional and the atmosphere was very homey. You can watch all the goings on on Bleecker street if you like that. Delicious broccoli in garlic and oil, and escarole on the side. Plenty of wine by the glass. I had cabernet; he had chianti. Really enjoyable. Will return.

Beautiful dinner on Christmas Eve

By Elizabeth C |

After spending a day helping our son move things to his new apartment, we were famished. We went out seeking pizza, but the places were closed. Across the street was the Trattoria. Wow! What a lovely meal. We all had different items, lasagna, seafood risotto, mussels and veal. Everything was great from the service to meal. Excellent menu. How lucky New Yorkers are to have spots like this in the neighborhood.

Outstanding Italian food!

By Nina S |

My husband had dinner at Pesce pasta Trattoria several times over the last 4 years and the quality never disappoints. The food is authentic and delicious. My husband is Italian and picky when it comes to food but this place if outstanding. The fresh pasta is absolutely delicious and the service is very friendly. The place is not huge which we like a lot and the atmosphere is cosy. we will definitely come back in the future.

Delicious food, Nice Service

By JackInBrooklyn |

We had a great meal here before the movies on a Saturday evening. We were welcomed warmly and seated right away. My son really liked his meat ravioli. I had the mixed grill (all seafood) which was delicious. My friend had a Cesar salad and a shrimp and fettuccine special, all of which he said was very good.

A European Experience on Bleecker Street. Italian Dining At Its Best!

By Lorraine B |

While participating in a Nice Guys Greenwich Village Walking Food Tour, I noticed a tented signboard listing fish choices for this trattoria. I crave good fish. I backed up to see the signage on the awning. An older adult couple seated outside said they had been eating here for years, it was a good place. We love local recommendations! We returned to the Greenwich Village/West Village area the next day. Our nearly 16-year-old grandson wanted to eat lunch at Beeker Street Pizza. Then he played three games of fast chess with a local in Washington Square, winning two of three games. Leo also wanted to ride an e-bike in Central Park. We made it happen. Then we returned to Trattoria Pesce Pasta for our last night in NYC. The restaurant fulfilled all of our needs, we felt like we were in Europe! My husband and I had the Sea Bream in a white wine sauce with capers and baby leeks. He had broccoli and I had escarole as our side instead of pasta. Leo likes steak and we told him it was okay to order the steak. He ordered medium-rare, with a side of pasta. It came with potato and carrot. We finished with dessert and espresso, Leo had tiramisu, Grandpa had chocolate mousse cake, and I had the Pistachio cake. We each loved our choices. Our entire experience was just what we needed to finish our six-day stay in New York. We thank all of you who served us, and the lovely older couple who recommended your restaurant. What a lovely meal...

Italian food at its very best ... and maybe a few local characters thrown in

By car0leshaw |

This is my number one favourite restaurant in the world. There is no booking system so rock up, take whatever space there is and try any of the dishes for a real treat. This is a real local haunt so don't be surprised to see a familiar face from a TV show or magazine. Cost wise you can't beat this. My favourite is the lobster linguini - Top class meals at a very reasonable price. I recommend this place to all my friends and no-one is ever disappointed.

Neat Space & Good Food

By DiamondDoug44 |

Small old School Restaurant and the decor is totally authentic. Great food and the location is perfect right in the heart of it all

Never miss a chance to eat here when we are in NYC

By dnswsnch |

This is one of our favorite places to eat in New York, consistently good, we recommend it to friends and they too have never been disappointed. Not over priced, truly Italian!

Simply delicious

By dar9547 |

We ordered the pasta with lobster, muscles, and clams and it was very delicious. The prices were good and so was the wine. A large group of retired locals were dining here so we knew we were in the right place.

Outstanding food and Service 5+

By JEFSUSHAY |

Went here for the first time and it was in the top 3 Italian restaurants I have been to in 20 years. The Veal piccata was awesome and the Chicken Parmesan also. Can’t wait to come back her. Price was awesome for amount of food.

Quintessential NYC.

By clayenos |

A family-run gem that has a lasagne to die for. Everything about this place is genuine and I’m so glad they’ve weathered the storms of the pandemic restrictions with smiles and consistency.

Look forward to a 3rd visit sometime..

By mattyw70 |

My second time here the first being in 2010. Both times great. The fish is fresh and the pasta is excellent. Seafood linguine with a decent glass of red in a bustling but unrushed atmosphere was good fun. Despite the location, this place does not feel like a tourist trap, was full of locals (some of whom queued to get in), and unlike some others in the area, is not unreasonably priced.

Meatballs!

By tmiller461 |

Excellent meatballs. Had a glass of chianti and enjoyed my snack here. The atmosphere was great. Want to go back for full plate of spaghetti with meatballs. I will need a bib!

Amazing authentic find!

By Martini28 |

We stumbled upon this treasure while on Bleeker Street in NYC. We noticed locals walking the street and heading into this tiny restaurant. It was perfect timing on our part, there happened to be one table left at 6pm! We adored everything from the wine to the waiter, to the other customers, and their familiarity with the waiters and fellow patrons. The lighting is low and chianti bottles and fish paintings adorn the walls. The menu is simple - fish and pasta - but so so lovely! An excellent and charming Little Italy experience.

Great, quaint Italian eatery in the Village with delicious dishes!!!

By Gmoney19 |

The food here is very authentic and this little place is such a romantic eatery that will suit those with every need. The service is classic Italian, observant but also the style that lets those who like to dine with ease a must "be" to enjoy. The menu I would say is varied with a lot of delicious choices. I have a feeling that they might also make their own pasta which is fantastic, nothing like fresh semolina Italian. The salted meats were great and the grilled meats were to die for. The mussel based pasta was out of this world.

Nice Italian restaurant

By Sal51275 |

Run by a Kosovo guy, the quality of food is close to the Italian tradition. Served quickly and with a great variety of Italian food. Had fish, fried calamari and many other things

Authentic Italian Dining

By Jon B |

I walked from the Metro in the Rain looking for another Restaurant that is now moved (time for an address update Trip Advisor) In a wonderful sequence of serendipity I ended up having an outstanding dining experience here instead. Enjoyed a great Pasta e Fagiloi Soup and a Lasagna. Atmosphere and service were top notch and they were classic Italian warmth and welcoming.

W.Village Italian that Never Disappoints

By Keith C |

One of my favorite little italian restaurants in NYC. The food is always good (mussels marinara app--is a MUST!), and my favorites are seafood fra diavlo pasta, lasagna, veal or chicken parmagiana. The staff is very attentive and they will never rush you out (no matter who's waiting). They've survived on Bleeker when they're neighbors have all gone away, and given way to bigger chains. These guys are good!

Nice meatballs

By Timezone Travelers |

Stopped her on a Food Tour through Greenwich village. The meatball was ok. Staff were friendly enough. Cozy feel to the inside.

West Village gem of a restraurant

By 270JillA |

I was looking for a casual Italian restaurant (serving fish & "meat"). in "The West Village" -- just uptown from where we were staying. Since several decades ago I lived on MacDougal Street between Bleeker & 3rd, I want to take my friends on a "tour." This was the perfect spot! I was concerned the restaurant did not take reservations, so I dropped by earlier in the day to see when a good time to come would be (on a Wednesday). Advice was to arrive before 7 for my party of 4. Perfect. I order soft-shell crab, my husband & 1 friends ordered chicken parm, and other friends ordered red snapper. My husband declared the chicken parm "the best ever" (except for mine of course). Yes...the red sauce is divine, the pasta homemade, and the menu extensive. The nice surprise was the reasonable wine list AND the excellent suggestions made by the waiter. Alas we were too full for dessert. This small -- almost "traditional" restaurant on (the now trendy & upscale) W. Bleeker Street off 6th was a find! It was clearly the choice of many regulars judging by how arrivees were greeted.

Easygoing, friendly, good food

By Guildenstern |

Very homey, comfortable restaurant, with really good food, attentive but quiet service, An oasis in the Village.

Sooooo good!

By mike f |

What a great little New York restaurant! Went for dinner last night. We stopped in because the menu looked nice and, peeking inside, the atmosphere was just right. Had pasta fagioli for appy... Excellent. I had veal parm and my friend had ravioli, solid Italian meals.. They were perfect. The portion size was just right. Service was attentive but not hovering. The wait staff worked nicely together as a team. Bread was fab! Wine was not crazy over priced. We had a very decent bottle of Barolo, which was reasonably priced for an NYC restaurant. It was lively, but not loud. Really an overall great meal and experience. Can't wait to go back!!

Pesce e Pasta e Patience

By William B |

That title refers to how gracious the wait staff is at this charming little Greenwich Village restaurant. On my latest visit with 4 friends we chose to switch tables after having been seated, then we took forever to figure out what we would order. The waiter was as charming as the place and totally unfazed by our chaos. So I like this place from the start - to be honest, second visit but I didn't review it the first time. Then the food - my friends raved about the kale - I am not a kalie, but they know food so I'll buy their praise. My tomato and greens salad was fresh and happy - that notable touch of vinegar always picks me up. The bread served with it was rich - a wonderful pairing of crisp crust and hearty interior. The mahi I ordered was nicely cooked. The carafe of Pinot Grigio was as good as you might expect, Pinot Grigio doesn't make you expect a lot, just comfy-ness. P-e-P is a small restaurant, but it scores big on atmosphere, solid food and good service. I would make it a regular if I lived closer to the Village.

We keep coming back for the fantastic food and service!

By Robin D |

This was our third visit and did not disappoint. A lovely atmosphere, great food and attentive but not intrusive service makes this restaurant a must on every trip to NYC. They serve wonderful fish and seafood dishes as well as traditional pasta (and some members of our party were delighted by the Gluten-free options). It is a great place for a special occasion as it can be a little pricey, but worth the money every time!

Worst Meal Ever

By Escape524772 |

The fish was undercooked and management was indifferent to complaints. Never again. Used to be a favorite restaurant in the area.

Italian with seafood specialty

By ModdyinVermont |

An old favorite, on Bleeker St and across from Blind Tiger. Seafood and Italian pasta, as the name would suggest.

Excellent Italian food for a reasonable price.

By Laurie C |

Wonderful Italian restaurant at Bleeker and Carmine just off 6th Ave in NYC. We came here for my son's birthday who happens to live in the neighborhood. We had the basics, Spaghetti with Meatballs, Chicken Parmegania, and Lasagna with Meat and each was excellent. The Parmegania came with the usual side of pasta and one of us ordered a starter salad which was huge. The limitless sliced freshly baked bread was wonderful. Including wine, the bill total came to less than $65! The restaurant has lovely outdoor seating, but this particular late afternoon, early evening was a bit cool, so the interior was packed by the time we left. We will definitely visit Trattoria Pesce Pasta again on our next visit.

Great sauce.

By LRE4Life |

Worth the wait. Food took a very long time to come out of the kitchen but once it did it was delicious. Meatballs, chicken parmigiana, fish, scampi. All was amazing

CV-19 review: Great food, good safe service

By Mark B |

My starter was the Prosciutto e Melone, and I think it was some of the best prosciutto I’ve ever had — super-thin, tasty, tender. I was spoiled for choice for both starters and main course, and loved my fish, but I also loved the look of the stuffed chicken, and the lasagne looked good too. We were able to sit outside in roofed area that made the little bit of rain a non-issue, and the heater did a great job of keeping us comfortable.

What Happened to the Food

By luggageinhand |

This use to be a great place for some yummie Italian. Won't return.. The food on our last visit was horrible. Ceasar salad had a strong anchovie taste, ministroni soup was cold, meatballs were soggy and so salty. Won't return.. Then while we were there eating, a bowl fell on the floor. Got picked up and put back with the rest without being washed. A good restaurant that must have changed hands. Too bad!

Very good Italian American cuisine

By AndiamoAMagna |

Went early on Saturday and experienced no wait. Staff was cordial and helpful. Food was very good, but not the best Italian meal in NY or NJ. We had the mixed antipasto which had a fair amount to choose from. Grilled vegetables were freshly prepared, but the dish was lite on mozzarella, which was just average. Had the meatballs as an appetizer. They were good, but not outstanding because they appeared to be made out of mostly ground beef. Pasta entrees were good and the pasta was cooked to perfection, al dente. We had the stuffed tortelloni special in a cream sauce. Pasta was not swimming in sauce. The seafood risotto was outstanding. Plenty of seafood with the entree. Rice was also cooked to perfection. Chicken parmigiana was also good. Also had the branzino. Cooked well and flavorful. They also offer a few bottles of wine at a reasonable price, $25-$30. Decent selection. For dessert we had the tiramisu, which was moist and tasty. Cheese cake or ricotta cake was average. A bit try and not as tasty. Espresso was weak and bit watery. Overall, our meal was very good and reasonably priced for New York. Fair amount of seafood to choose from. If you have high standards for Italian food, this place misses the mark, but overall the food is very good.

Delicious Italian food!

By Liz |

We were introduced to this restaurant on a foods of New York walking tour, and came back a few days later to try the famous meatballs - they really were that amazing, so tender and full of flavour! The seafood risotto was also delicious and cooked perfectly. We had the broccoli starter which we both loved. The interior is just like an Italian trattoria, and staff were really friendly and helpful. Don't miss this restaurant!

The red snapper was delicious! Red sauce fantastic. It’s a small place with great service. No reservations.

Divine dinner in Greenwich Village

By Dolcebellamae |

My girlfriend and I were able to taste their amazing meatballs as part of a food tour and decided to come back for dinner. This is an adorable local restaurant that serves great Italian food-pasta is fresh, sauce is amazing and the staff is great!! This place is a must-get out of the tourist trap places and come down to Greenwich village and taste great Italian food

Trot over to Trattotia Pesce Pasta

By learlybird2016 |

This little gem in the West Village shouldn't be missed. Smallish. Not Fancy. But, ooh that red sauce! I've been to so many Italian restaurants in the WV and no one has a better red sauce. Fish, Veal or meatballs taste sooo good with that sauce. Try it.

Excellent Choice for Northern Italian Seafood

By Michael S |

My friend and I stopped in on a whim while walking through the East Village, and were very impressed. Loud, fresh, lively, vibrant, perfectly balanced - all describe the dining experience here. We started with a classic special appetizer, Prosciutto e Melone, salty and sweet, with the melon ripe and the prosciutto thin and tangy - just as it should be. We shared a caesar salad, and being the unhappy recipient of a soggy caesar at another establishment recently, I can attest to the crisp deliciousness of this one. They have many other tempting choices for antipasti, reminding me of a recent trip to Italia. For a main course we had a special lobster with leeks and homemade pasta that was to die for. Espresso sent us out happy.

Excellent food, good value

By Harvey_Regina |

Excellent food , good value. Very nice staff, and very much like a real trattoria. The Veal Piccatta and the Red Snapper were excellent.

Old School with great service

By Dana Los Angeles |

If you are looking for updated and slick, do not come here. If you are looking for old school New York Italian in a small and quaint setting with old school service, you will live this gem.

The Lady and the Tramp's Meatballs Spaghetti

By Rigatoni01 |

It was a quiet lunch time. The restaurant was almost empty, and we had all the attention for the best service. After tasting the meatballs we have decided that this was definitely an inspiration to the well known Disney' s movie. We will come back for more mane items.

The best spaghetti & meatballs

By A_S_Castle |

We stumbled across this restaurant by accident. We had been browsing the streets in Greenwich Village looking for somewhere to grab an early dinner, before heading uptown to catch a Broadway show. I was craving a good spaghetti & meatballs noticed they had it on the menu and headed straight in to grab a table. It was still very early at this stage so the restaurant was very quiet. Well all I can say is we were blown away- my meat balls were amazing, my husband had the seafood risotto which was also amazing and both dishes were very reasonably priced. It was that good we came back two nights later to experience more of their amazing pasta . So pleased we stumbled across this beautiful restaurant.

Generous portions, good fish and pasta

By SurreyGirlLondon |

Catching up with an old friend and joined half way through the evening by our son, we were sitting in this restaurant for the whole evening - could have been at home except we didn't have to do the cooking! The food was good, the portions generous and the service was just attentive enough without being overbearing. Stuffed baked artichoke, spaghetti with meatballs, fresh fish, pasta dishes, vegetables - all were good. We couldn't eat dessert as we were too full so we plan to return before we leave NY, skip the starters and leave room for pudd!

Great Italian, reasonable price

By RachelTsan |

We stumbled upon this restaurant as we were looking for a place for lunch. The restaurant is located in an old building which dated back to the 1800s and the restaurant is traditionally but beautifully decorated. We ordered a seafood pasta which is their special for the day, it was indeed special! Mussels lined the outer circumference of the big plate, followed by clams on the inner circumference and a whole lot of calamari. It was simply delicious and fresh!! And the pasta al dante While we were eating, a food tour group came in - for the meatballs. Curiosity overtook us and we also ordered a meatball to try. The meatball was pure meat served in a tasty tomato sauce. Yum! When we finished, we were served some complementary biscotti and it's the best biscotti we have tried, because of the cinnamon taste.

Reservations Not Accepted

By BC&JA |

Just tried calling to get a reservation for 8 o’clock on a Friday night. He said they only do walk ins. Sorry but won’t be taking a chance on a busy dining night like Friday.

Savory meatballs

By Soilsister1244 |

This was one stop on a Greenwich Village food tour. We were served the best meatballs I have ever tasted. They had a tangy sauce made from special tomatoes. The restaurant is small but very attractive. I look forward to eating here again.

Small Friendly Dependable

By William B |

This was my second time at TPP; both times with friends who eat here often. I'm not sure I love it as much as they do, but the food is good, the atmosphere is very much old Greenwich Village; and the prices are not out of line. The service good - perhaps because my friends come here so often, I couldn't tell. The staff does not rush you at all, though they do check on you regularly to make sure you are ok. I had pinot grigio - well three of us did - in a carafe - and it was fine (it's pinot grigio, you can't expect too much). I had a tuna steak though it wasn't the big thick slab of tuna I expected. It was ok but I wouldn't order it again. The calimari were excellent. The salad tasted very fresh with a nicely done dressing. The bread is good. I skipped dessert - they serve a lot of food. I don't think you will be disappointed if you choose to eat here - it would not be a destination restaurant, but if you are in the neighborhood it is much better than most of its kin in this area.

Not just fish

By Love2eat32547 |

We had the pasta with meatballs. The meatballs were so tender and juicy and tasted like they were freshly made. Space was very limited in the restaurant but give it a try. We enjoyed the outback and outside space.

Homie and delicious

By R F |

Went the other night for a casual meal for dinner and was very impressed with the food and quality of ingredients, as well as the excellent service received. The seafood risotto and seafood linguini were amazing. Take that with a beautiful glass (or bottle, why not?) of wine. Worth it going to the heart of the Village for this Trattoria

Outstanding old school Italian American food..

By Paulguyinnj |

We were in the mood for old school Italian food and ran into this cute neighborhood gem while walking in the Village. Wonderful cozy and homey atmosphere with classic American Italian music hits playing. The food was outstanding old school American style Italian. We ordered Orecchiette with broccoli de rabe, sausage in garlic and oil sauce along with Eggplant rollatini as entrees. We started with an arugula and radicchio salad which was fantastic. It was crisp and cold and perfectly dressed with a tasty balsamic and oil dressing. The Orecchiette dish was amazing. Everything was done to perfection and the flavors were well balanced. Pasta cooked to a perfect al dente. Broccoli de rabe was crisp and tender. The sausage was delicious. Italian comfort food at its best. Perfect execution. The eggplant rotallini dish consisted of rigatoni pasta with sauteed eggplant in red sauce topped with cubes of fresh mozzarella. Everything was tasty and the sauce was old school grandma style. A flawless dish. Service was attentive and professional. This is a perfect location if you're seeking old school style Italian American cuisine in the Village area. Prices are reasonable for the area as well. It's a hidden gem in the village.

Wonderful blend of Italian-American cuisine

As part of our Greenwich exploration, we stopped into Trattoria's. We only had a meatball (good portion size) and were very impressed with the atmosphere and delicious meatball with marina and cheese.

We stopped in for a simple late dinner and were very pleased with our sole with artichokes and sundried tomatoes. Choice of sides was healthy broccoli or some spaghetti with red sauce--both were tasty. Service was friendly and efficient and the price was right!

Trattoria Pesce Pasta has been on Bleecker Street for a long time. Food and service are consistently good. Love the fish selections, but it's hard to pass up the meatballs and spaghetti. Authentic Italian cuisine. Cozy authentic Village atmosphere.

A Quick Family Meal

By Amelia |

The food is delicious, the atmosphere cozy and friendly. The only complaint is that the food took a long time. We ended up barely having time to finish it. I have every intention of going back, and will recommend it to anyone, but do not go if you are in any kind of hurry.

One of the best Italian Restaurants in Greenwich Village

By Augusto L |

Saturday was a hazy, humid and hot day, and rain began falling down as if it was the end of the world. My family was walking on Bleeker street with two umbrellas for three people, a shelter was needed. Against my habit of checking tripadvisor reviews before going into a restaurant, we literally bumped againts Trattoria Pesce Pasta and decided to seek shelter from the rain. The moment you stepped into, you are transported to the authentic Italian trattoria, you might as well been deceived that you were eating in Rome. It was 3pm on a Saturday, only three tables were occupied out of a total of about 10 tables. Walls were covered with sea-inspired decorations, ones that in another restaurant would have been crass, but not here. The waiter (from Croatia), but spoke Italian served us with absolute eye for detail. We ordered two dishes, risotto with seafood and veal parmegiana, both were exquisite. The risotto not only was cooked as you would eat it in Italy but it had an abundance of seafood. The veal parmegiana was tender and the cheese, it melted in your mouth. A white wine from the Veneto region was a perfect complement to the food and the hazy, humid and hot Saturday summer day. Prices were more than reasonable for truly Italian food.I will return!

One word: sublime

By Oliver S |

Enough with the menus you need a Ph.D.in Third World languages to read, enough with snobbish attitude and exorbitant wine prices, enough with “do you have a reservation” even if the dining room is empty. If you long for true Italian home cooking, complete with cozy and friendly settings, soft, unobtrusive Italian music in the background, friendly and efficient service and more of the same, Trattoria Pesce Pasta is your place. Turned back from Aperitivo di Palma around the corner on a recent Sunday afternoon, we look for a place to have late lunch/early dinner and are attracted by the cheerful red sign “Tratoria”. The window has an attractive display of antipasti, much like they do it in Italy. We are soon seated on the table of our choice, enjoying soft Italian music in the background and the homey, cozy atmosphere. We then order and get bread to taste with the olive oil already on the table. Olive oil is top, EVOO, as green as they come. This is followed by a delicious Antipasto della Casa (large selection of the grilled vegetables displayed on the window) and a very decently priced Vernaccia di San Gimignano. (It has always been my contention that you cannot beat white Italian wines or red French ones). Next, we get the fish: Stripped Bass & Trout Napoletana, both grilled with lemon, olive oil & leeks (additional sauce on the side), plus some more vegetables and a side of escarole (we requested the escarole, the other choice was pasta). You can request the fish cooked your way, grilled, fried or broiled. The food is clearly made minutes ago, and scrumptious. We drink slowly our white wine and enjoy conversation, undisturbed by the annoying “is everything ok, folks?” that you get in most places nowadays. Desert time: they have Tartufo, that exquisite chocolate and ice cream Italian creation fit for royals. We top it with Sambucca (which arrives with the required three coffee beans on top, as custom has it, for good luck) and two espressos. Check for all these delights comes for $97 before tip! This is it, I am making a note about this place, I'm sure we will be back here over and over again. Grazie, Trattoria!

Celebration

By Maria Irene P |

This is a restaurant that's been in our neighborhood for many years. The first time we came here was based on my brother's suggestion and boy was he right! My father ordered the Branzino, which is clearly his favorite dish. I alternate between the chicken parmigiana and penne ortolana. We always order the clams or calamari with salad for the appetizer. And don't forget their Chianti and Peroni beer! This is a great restaurant because they have maintained their consistency of serving great foods!

Fabulous authentic Italian restaurant

By Ruth T |

What an amazing restaurant, a real Italian meal. The prosciutto and melon was delicious and plentiful. The red snapper special with capers, olives, and tomatoes was so flavorful. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was great for conversation. The menu is varied enough to satisfy children and adult foodies. I'm looking foward to my next meal here in the very near future. This restaurant is small so you a have to wait but whatever the wait, it is worth it!!!

Great West Greenwich Village Italian restaurant. Pasta super fresh and great seafood choices as well. Seafood risotto was particularly good. Great value as well as all entrees are under $20. Only downside is can't make reservations so need to get their early to guarantee a table. Excellent and friendly service as well.

Typical New York Italian

By oscarbayley |

During our two week stay in NYC we came here three times. The atmosphere was fabulous, staff hit the right note and the food was well cooked home style Italian. Big shout out to the seafood lasagne This place feels like it would be my local if I lived in New York. There are many local Italian places in the west. Village, but this is the one I'll return to

Intimate quiet cozy

Cozy Ristorante for Pasta or Fish

By Steven |

This pleasant little Italian restaurant has plenty of pasta and more fish on the menu than most places. I chose the breaded and baked tilapia. It was served with a few slices of carrots and a chunk of a boiled potato. Could have had more. It did come with a side of pasta or broccoli; I chose the side of flavorful al dente pasta. I was satisfied with the tilapia, although, not the best I've had. After dinner, they served a complimentary plate of biscotti. For dessert, I added tiramisu and a cappuccino. Service was good, prices reasonable. Access to the restrooms is difficult; the room is only 6 inches wider than the toilet and the sink is outside the toilet area, so handicap access is out of the question. Able-bodied guests only!

Cute, quaint, good prices and BEST MEATBALLS in NYC!

By christinawarburton |

We went to Trattoria Pesce Pasta on a food tour to sample their meatballs. They were so delicious - large, meaty, served with delicious tomato sauce - that we had to go back the next day for lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch the 2nd time - I loved my caesar salad. This place reminded us of the many places we loved when we toured Italy last summer. We will definitely go back when we are in NYC!

Fish and Pasta so Delicious

By luggageinhand |

Ate here twice on a visit to NYC. The meatballs are to die for and my hubby loved his Red Snapper. Delicious food, nice wait staff, and not crazy expensive. Wish we had a restaurant like this in Orlando. Nothing even close.

NYC best meatball?

By PhilippeSundbyberg |

in the shop window it is stated that they have the best NYC meatball which is probably doubtful. Otherwise pasta and fish dishes are acceptable without finesse. Service is ok.

Delicious neighborhood Italian, reasonable prices

By SlapHappyJ |

Cozy ambience, delicious homemade pastas and sauces. Traditional Italian menu featuring seafood dishes, also plenty of the usual offerings like lasagne bolognese and fettuccine amatriciana. A great example of an authentic NYC neighborhood Italian restaurant. Good service, attentive and quick. The lobster linguine was outstanding--succulent and tender. Prices incredibly reasonable for the quality.

In love

By Camille D |

Been here quite a few times with family and as a couple. Very impressive and cozy. You feel like you've stepped into both an airplane and time machine going to Italy some decades back. The staff are my favorite part, they are very Italian--and I *always* prefer real culture over the fake-smiles that too many in American hospitality are trained to give. They will give you good recommendations, absolutely not rush you, and make you feel very comfortable. This is a great restaurant for a romantic setting. Another plus is they're open late! Recommend the antipasto della casa. PS if you have Italian blood in you, you might have a soft spot for this place after visiting, too ;-)

Cute place get the fish or pasta, not veal chop

By Mark W |

Cozy restaurant Nice and attentive staff Nice assortment of wines Entrees looked good I ordered the broiled veal chop. Cooked nicely but no flavor. Either marinade longer or add blue cheese the last 2 minutes in the broiler!

Made to order

By benwin1607 |

Tried this place after wandering around looking for no where inparticular. Sat across from some very polite locals who recommended eating off the menu. The waiter suggested a chicken dish and it turned out to be the best pasta meal I'd ever eaten. Went with a beautiful Cabernet which we were introduced to by the locals on the next table. Top atmosphere, excellent and friendly service and outstanding food.

Amazing meat balls ever!

By Lantai41 |

This little Italian gem at Bleecker Street was highly recommended by my son. Tried their famous meat balls. Oh My Goodness!!!! I have eaten so many meat balls in my life, even in Rome and Milan, but I must say Pesce's meat balls are most flavorful and juiciest!!

Visiting Home

By EnisRraci |

So happy to see this restaurant survive this pandemic... And it came to no surprise, they had a line waiting outside on a beautiful afternoon. Seeing businesses busy again makes me so happy. Had to wait for my table but it was so worth it. It's a small family run restaurant so they make sure to stay on top of everything and follow all safety precautions. We had Rita and she was amazing and telling us about their background. This was such a treat on a night out and we enjoyed everything we had. The homemade tiramisu was the best way to finish our night. Looking forward to visiting again. Thank you guys!

Excellent Dinner!

By KMKD00 |

Great little Italian restaurant in NYC. There were less than 15 tables in the whole place, but the food was really good. Bread was brought out as we were looking at the menu and the pasta was delicious... we had spaghetti and meatballs and cheese ravioli. The food was good, service was excellent. Would happily go back the next time I was in the city!

Wonderful, authentic Italian

By Lalo765 |

We went here for a late lunch on the advice of friends. The server was definitely Italian, and he was very helpful and attentive. Our friends are regulars here, and we were treated like family. We had spaghetti Boulognese and it was perfect in every way. The pasta was fresh and the sauce was delicious. You won't be disappointed here - a lovely place.

Neighborhood Gem with Great Food

By CW |

We have eaten at Pesce Pasta frequently and always enjoy their delicious food in generous portions. At this point we probably tried everything on the menu. The standouts for me are the chicken parm, chicken rollentine and the linguine in clam sauce. They also offer a range of wonderful fish dishes. We also love the fact that it is not overly noisy and the service is always great. A real neighborhood gem that has been consistently excellent.

LOVE this restaurant!

By Lalo765 |

A delicious dinner in this tiny, authentic Italian restaurant in the Village. We both had spaghetti bolognese that was divine!

Dinner

By hjas1982 |

Let me explain why Im grading my visit as "poor". Although the service was actually great and the food delicious, I had a really upsetting and uncomfortable argument with the Maître D after I paid my check. He asked me if there was something wrong with the service, because I had tipped less than what their "recommended gratuity" amount was. I explained there was nothing wrong with the service, but that I was on a tight budget, which was true. But then he said I was making them look like homeless people and had he known I was going to tip so little, then he would have never allowed me in the restaurant, and more nonesense like this. To say this to a customer is very rude. NYC is one of the most expensive cities in the world and we cannot all afford to meet their "suggested gratuity" which is only a recommendation and no one is obliged to tip! So this is the reason Im giving this place a low rating and I would not want to come back here and meet again this rude man.

Amazing gem in Greenwich Village

By Frufru99 |

Food and service fabulous. They also catered for my gluten free diet which was great. Wonderful ambience. Thoroughly recommend and look forward to returning in the future!

Succulent Striped Bass

By Dan M |

My wife and I came here for lunch while visiting NYC. We first came upon this restaurant with a Greenwich Village food tour guide and after tasting their incredible meatball with tomato sauce, decided to return a few days later. They have a "fish of the day" menu with about eight different offerings to choose from. The fish is extremely fresh as it comes right out of the ocean only minutes away. I was absolutely enthralled with the euphoric taste of the striped bass. It was prepared with a white wine sauce and was the best meal we had during our one week vacation. Highly recommend!

Good Food & Wine

By ModdyinVermont |

Wonderful lunch at this small place in The Village. Terrific Red Snapper with Puttanesca sauce. Modest prices, daily seafood specials. A good stop before going to The Blind Tiger.

Best pasta I've ever had!

By Rach2820 |

We decided to walk along Bleecker Street to find somewhere for tea. We came across Pesce Pasta and thought we'd give it a go. And thank goodness we did! There were so many lovely things on the menu, we were spoilt for choice. We got talking to some lovely Italian-American regulars who recommended a simple chicken, tomato and mozzarella pasta dish, so we both went with that. I love Italian food and this was honestly the best pasta dish I've ever had! The Trattoria is tiny so it feels really cosy inside. Both the staff and other customers were really lovely and friendly. We had cheesecake for dessert, which was also really nice. The prices were very reasonable too, especially for NYC. I honestly can't recommend this place enough, we'll definitely be back!

Fish and Pasta = Happiness

By SanFranciscoGuy634 |

We had arrived in town a bit late and were tired and hungry. Trattoria Pesche restored us. It's a very simple place and really comes down to fish, pasta, wine and a good meal. It's not fancy. It knows what it is and does it well. On offer is a list of the latest fish that can then be prepared in a number of ways. Pasta too. What more do you want? Good value for sure.

Traditional Italian

Cozy little restaurant with wide variety of Italian dishes...great food and attentive service...good portions...did not leave hungry...would definitely eat here again...

Excellent food, warm atmosphere

Attended a party here and was as impressed with the friendly staff and courteous service as the delicious food. Will definitely return.

Late lunch

By Edward H |

Always excellent. Have been eating here for over 15 years. True classic. Ordered of the chalkboard menu that doesn't list prices. As always when bill came very reasonable. Half the price of fancier Italian restaurants with just as good quality food.

Very good and personal.

By Jose V |

This is a very good restaurant. The ambiance is very italian. The food is great....penne with broccoli was excellent.

Bellissimo!!! Proper Italian meal

By Aisling K |

My family and I visited this restaurant last week whilst visiting NY. We each enjoyed our meals. I ordered the seafood risotto and pleased to say its the most seafood ive ever received in a dish like this (usually restaurants tend to skimp on giving you fish -not Trattoria!). My father ordered the lasagna which he could just about finish. Everyone commented on how tasty each of the meals were. The restaurant itself reminds me of when we visited Italy, little tables with dim lighting and cosy. Our waiters were very helpful in explaining the specials and ensuring we always had water on the table so we never had to call him over. If i lived in NY I would be a regular.

Best Restaurant in NYC!

By alebusha |

I decided to stop by this restaurant on a Friday afternoon after hearing about it from a couple of friends of mine. I was impressed and really happy with my experience. My waiter was really a nice and I did not feel rushed. The food was outstanding. I will be coming back and I recommend this place for anyone who visits NYC.

Delicious Italian seafood

By Jhamm84 |

Stumbled across this place while wandering Bleecker street and checking out Murray's cheese shop last May and loved it. Came back for our first meal after coming back this July. Amazing fish prepared fresh and in unique ways. I had the sole sautéed in artichokes and hubby had stripped bass with leaks. Both were excellent. Had asked waiter his opinion and gave the recs above - even telling me to get the sole over the swordfish I was thinking of because the swordfish was just grilled and less interesting. I think I had pasta last year that was creamy and mouth watering. Excellent choice - reasonable price.

Affordable Authentic Italian in the West Village

By Hugh |

As the West Village menu prices soar to the stratosphere it is comforting to know that you can still get a a fine meal in a nice restaurant. This is one of them. Very fine Italian cuisine at realistic prices. Right on Bleeker St with a warm and cozy atmosphere, you can't beat this place. I was most impressed with my veal marsala and ceasar salad. The ceasar dressing was made in house and not out of a bottle. I had passed this restaurant countless times. Last night I regretted I had passed it by for other places inferior. I will certainly return soon.

Home Made Italian Food

By RaquelitaNYC |

Fish, pasta, risotto, artichoke, everything tastes like home made. At this quiet restaurant, you can enjoy delicious dishes in a relaxing ambience (no much noise, enough room for a comfortable dinner).

Spot on Italian

By littlesisterWales |

Dropped in by chance after a walking tour of Greenwich Village. Great service from helpful staff. The food was so good. This is what an Italian eatery should be like. So pleased to have eaten there as there is a lot of bewildering choice in NYC for country bumpkins from Wales.

The Gem of NYC

By Martin W |

Well, I have frequented Elio's for their world famous Chicken Parmigiana on a monthly basis. Well, I stumbled upon Trattoria Pesce Pasta today and had their version - half the price and quite comparable - with mouth watery side dishes at no extra cost (unlike Elio's). I was also most pleased with their unique seafood offerings and splendid house wines - all reasonably priced! And, Juliana and the wait staff are also world class! This place has no equal! Martin Weinstein

My favorite meatball

By Christine S |

Exploring Greenwich Village with my two best friends, we came face to face with the best meatball and sauce I've ever had. Yes, I had spaghetti and meatballs. Don't you judge me you foodie snobs. I like spaghetti and meatballs, and I enjoy trying different takes on my fave. Ain't nobody's business if I do. So it's a good thing I'm not fazed by ordering it at a restaurant with a seafood packed menu. The joke's on all of you who would NEVER go to a cozy Italian restaurant in NYC and order spaghetti and meatballs. It was GREAT! So there. Actually, it was delicious, as were my caprese and tiramisu. My friends went the seafood route, and they weren't disappointed. The service was lovely, and we left with great memories. Get the meatballs!

Home Away From Home

By Mannyforty |

To say Trattoria Pesce Pasta is a gem would be an understatement. My wife and I have been visiting this cozy neighborhood restaurant for 16 years. The atmosphere is conducive to couples as well as a small family or singles. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. The service is above average for any restaurant small or large. Their fish menu is predicated on freshness prepared in many different typical Italian methods. The pasta and sauces are authentic and vibrantly prepared. The grilled vegetable appetizers are not to be missed. I almost forgot the four $ signs are incorrect as Trattoria is very affordable and a great bang for you buck..All in all its a West Village experience not to be missed.

Amazing Meatballs

By Whitney R |

We visited Trattoria Pesce Pasta on a Foods of NY tour and were each given a giant meatball. I've never been a fan of meatballs, but these were like little clouds of deliciousness. The meatballs were light and fluffy but packed with flavor. The staff here was friendly and the atmosphere would be perfect for a date or quite sit-down meal.

mediocre food

By dicksethi |

It looks inviting and location is good, but the main reason to go to a restaurant is food and the Trout that I ordered was mediocre. It was mushy with not much flavor. I generally eat fish Only at well known seafood restaurants like Mary's Fish Camp - which had closed at 4pm being a Sunday. Even the Bread was equally without any crustiness or crispness, although the Olive Oil with the bread was very good

A Nice Find

By Flyer75 |

We were actually heading to Faiccos Pork shop next door based on TA's great reviews. They close at 7pm. Starving, we went to this small, quaint restaurant and were pleased. The food was good, bread delicious, staff attentive and reasonably priced for NYC.

Classic Village Italian

By jeff6 |

Ideal destination for leisurely weekend meal with another couple. Each of us had something different, and each of us were pleased with our choices. Affable and knowledgeable wait staff and decent wine selection.

Must drop in.

By tancsyd |

The street is packed with potions. We were lucky enough to grab a couple of seats without notice on Saturday night. Had the red snapper on the recommendation of another patron. Very nice indeed. My wife had the gnocchi which was also very good. Staff friendly and not obtrusive. Had the family run feel you the place. You won't leave hungry.

Really Nice restaurant

By Ricardo P |

Good food, Cozy and Nice music . A typical Italian restaurant. Great Service and fair price. We recommend!

Beware of this restaurant !

By Michelle |

Beware of this restaurant. I debited the account with my credit card. Didn't pay enough attention, so $ 1240.88 was debited for 2 plates of pasta, 2 wine and 3 diet cokes, bread and water. Emailed to email address on their site, filled out contact form from their site. Sent a letter and when you call them they say they haven't received anything. It's easy to check for them. I now think that this was a deliberate action and that they do this to more tourists. In any case, I will never eat there again.

Good place, fair price

By Citizen1983 |

Went there with my family (party of 4) as the place looked relatively homey and nice. We sat down fast and were served promptly. Service was fast and friendly, but they should learn more about their own wine carte (seriously, at least know what sort of grape is in each wine). The menu was not huge, but looked solid and they had tons of specials not in the menu. Entrees were lacking a little bit in choice. We decided to share prosciutto and order pasta (meatballs, gnocchi and 2 with seafood). The prosciutto was a bit weak but the main course was really good in all accounts. Portions were REALLY generous and were also delicious. For dessert we had a lemon sorbet, with a lovely presentation and a tiramisu that was good (but not great). For all we ate, prices were really reasonable. Would I come back? You bet!. Next time though I'll probably will share a dish unless I'm starving.

My dish was very good; my daughter's not so much

By stellina1936 |

I had the risotto with seafood which was very good. My daughter had linguine with shrimp and calamari which was very bland and the sauce had no flavor. I tried her dish and agreed with her. A good sauce is very important. We don't normally go for Italian food because we are Italian (born in Italy) and so it's even more disappointing when the food isn't as good as it should be.

Going out but like being home

By Global-Architect |

We've been going to this little trattoria since it opened, as a matter of fact, we peeked in when construction was just completed and the owner told us the opening was in a week but they won't have the liquor license to serve wine yet. My husband actually proposed to me at dinner 20 years ago there. The food is simple and consistently good. Best of all, it's comfortable and unpretentious...like going home for a nice meal after a long stressful day.

A superb find!

By S&R |

While wandering around Greenwich Village with no specific destination in mind, we stumbled upon Trattoria di Pesce quite by accident. How VERY FORTUNATE for us! The restaurant is quite small, with seating for only about 50 people, and it was worth the short wait. It was early in the evening, and we were seated in less than 30 minutes. We had no idea what was in store until our food arrived at the table. Lasagna, Veal Marsala, the Ravioli special, and Zuppa di Pesce Veneziana rounded out our meal selections. Superb is an understatement. Everything about our meals was exceptional. We all noted that the waitstaff worked EXTREMELY well together, continually supporting one another and covering for each another. In such tight quarters it was admirable to witness the cooperation. We were thrilled to have discovered this restaurant and are anxious to return!

Old-Fashioned Great Italian Seafood and Pasta

By Andrew K |

For some reason, my wife and I had never eaten here, despite passing it for many years -- we're now glad we tried it for a weekday lunch, and will definitely eat here again. We were the only diners at 1 pm on a Monday, so we were a little worried -- more so when the server could not answer a question about a dish. The chef came right out and we ordered: a glass of cabernet ($6.75!), Vegetable Antipasto ($10.50 and great!), Arugola and Radicchio Salad ($7.25 and delicious), the Broiled Red Snapper special, on the chef's recommendation ($19.95 and well worth it), and the Seafood Lasagna ($17.95 and scrumptious -- especially the sauce). An Espresso ($2.75) and a Capuccino ($3.75), with free crackers, were the perfect end to a great lunch.

Good Food & Service, but...

By ModdyinVermont |

Pesce e Pasta is an old favorite. I had a wonderful Seafood Lasagna, bread & butter, red wine. Service was quite good. But beware, at Saturday lunchtime it is invaded by foodie walking tours. Almost ruined the experience.

Gr at building, ok food

By msa23_2000 |

To be fair, this place specializes in fish, and I had a meatball. It was a good meatball, but nothing exceptional or bad about it. The inside of the building is actually really cool, still has that 19th century vibe to it.

Wonderful dinner!!!

By Juliette M |

We happened upon this restaurant when exploring the area this weekend. It was a wonderful surprise! The perfect Italian restaurant-cozy, amazing meatballs, pasta, fish and wine!! I can’t say enough good about it. It will become a regular stop each time we’re in the city!

Don't Overlook

By Bogin |

Still delicious after all these years. Good portions. Good prices. Casual atmosphere. Nice wine choices.

Great Little Bistro in The Village

By ModdyinVermont |

It was a warm day, so they had tables on the sidewalk. I sat in the sunshine and loved the veal parmigiana. Terrific sauce on the side of pasta. Good red wine. On Bleeker St, across the street from Blind Tiger. This is my choice for dining in NYC.

Local & noisy

By KwN_55 |

The Italian restaurant I wanted to go was closed so pop in to a nearby restaurant. Food is good but the place is busy and a bit noisy.

I rated it only average but it's still a great place to dine

By ALSmember |

This Bleecker Street gem serves pastas and fish at very reasonable prices (somewhere around $21 per dish - meat a little higher). This is a neighborhood staple with solid food, good service, and a warm feeling. I've been going here for 20+ years and never had a bad meal. They don't take reservations and sometimes there's a small crowd outside waiting for a table. The first time I took a fussy date (from Westchester) with me, he looked at the Zagat rating of about 18 and was seriously considering saying something. Once we sat down and ate, he commented that this was a good as the 20+ ratings in his neck of the woods. New Yorkers are much harder raters.

Great Family Style Italian

By Tim H |

To cut a long story short, we had booked into a jazz club and ate a starter elsewhere whilst we were waiting for the doors to open. Based on the food we got, we decided to skip the club and go and find somewhere else to eat. A short distance away, we spotted the Trattoria Pesce Penne. From the outside and from what we could see inside, the restaurant looked exactly what a Trattoria should look like - friendly, low-key, and homely. We looked at the menu and decided to try it. We were very glad that we did. As we had already had starters, we were only here for our main course - and my Wife and I decided on pasta. She chose the Pesto and I selected one of the Specials which was Linguine with Shrimps in a pink cream sauce. Well....what can we say....AMAZING !!! Perfectly cooked, homemade pasta - fantastic taste. My Wife has stated that it was one of the best pasta's she has ever eaten. There was a lot of it so be warned that you may not want to have a large starter if you are thinking about the pasta. Service was efficient, atmosphere was good - a real family feel to the place, noise levels were fine. Price was very reasonable for this quality (and quantity) of food in this area. We will return next time we visit. Highly recommended.

The best red sauce Italian in the Village....

By B_Skyscraper |

Back in 1999 my nephew and I were looking for a place for dinner before a concert in Greenwich Village club. We walked around the neighborhood and came upon Trattoria Pesce Pasta. It was early and they had a table available so we went in and were promptly taken care of. The food is your basic red sauce Italian. Properly prepared everything was tasty and served in a timely manner. I took my wife there a week later and she also enjoyed their cooking. A few weeks later we had my daughter's 16th birthday party here. They were able to accommodate our party of 10, everyone had a good time and the dinner bill came to $225.00 including tip very affordable for such a large group. Fast forward 16 years and we still make this our go to Italian joint in NYC. Be sure to ask for the daily specials. If the osso buco is on the specials GET IT you will not be disappointed. They also make a very good chicken rolletini with a mushroom sauce this is also not to be missed. I've had their veal dishes and the veal parmigiana is my go to dish. The chicken parmigiana is another of my favorites. All dishes come with a side of pasta or a sauteed vegetable. In my 16 years of eating here the staff is still the same. Arsenio is a wonderful host and always greets us with a warm and welcoming smile. If you find yourself in the West Village stop in and have some of the best and affordable Italian food in NYC.

Mediocre Food. Not worthy of NYC

By erica w |

It’s fine but we should’ve realized all other restaurants had a line this no wait. Bread not great, seafood overcooked and chicken parm was dry. Lasagna Bolognese was only worthwhile dish. I’d wait for another restaurant or just go get a slice.

Cozy, convenient place with ambiance - food so so

By betti14 |

I stumbled on this place late one night coming back from Hoboken and on my way to a show in Greenwich Village. It was still open at 11p. It smelled lovely and I was starving! I love seafood, and I love Italian. The Italian was good, the seafood not so much. Loved the atmosphere, the soft bread and olive oil. The Seafood parmigiana was really not good. The sauce had no flavor and felt like Kraft parmesian cheese was poured in it the sauce. The shrimp was lukewarm and I wasn't sure if it was even cooked all the way. They split the shrimp which I also questioned - it made the shrimp feel even more limp. Tails still on. The veggies were not bad though. The meals are average pricing for the area, but its not worth the money if you don't like what you eat, especially as there is so much around. The waitstaff was lovely however and I really hope to find a dish of theirs I like. Based on on other raters the meatballs are their "specialty". Enjoy!

Consistently great for 20 years!

By cpmsport |

I've been coming to this restaurant for 20 years. The food is consistently awesome and authentic Italian. Due to the fact that this is an old family restaurant, you want see much on social media. But, take my word, you will not be disappointed!

Extremely good food!

By Amy E |

After a long, long day of walking in the hot, New York summer sun and air, we wanted to find a nice place on Bleecker street to have something to eat. We passed restaurant after restaurant and did not know what to choose, until we went into this small, unnoticeable Italian restaurant. We decided to just stay here since we'd been looking for so long already, and that was a good choice. We had such good and pure Italian food, served by really friendly staff (maybe they were that friendly because we were two young, cheerful Dutch girls). But in any case, we totally enjoyed our food and company here. I had chicken parmigiano if I'm not mistaken, it was delicious. And they also have some locals that go to eat there more often, and at one point the whole restaurant was talking with each other, nice atmosphere.

Best meatball ever

By russkwtx |

We had the best meatball in our lives here. It was so light, so airy, so flavorful. Sauce was perfect, sweet and not acidic. You get two meatballs to an order with spaghetti. Really, really good. We went at lunch time and the place was not full at all.

All together now, let's have a fish day!

By Oliver S |

The fact that I keep coming back to this place, with all the restaurants in the Village, tells you how much I like it. You would too, if you want Italian cooking like in Italy and fresh fish every day. Already, their window calls you in: attractively arranged with yummy antipasti, all home cooked, nothing like the usual meat-and-cheese stuff: these are grilled or pickled vegetables in different combinations and all freshly prepared. I suggest Antipasto della Casa for starters. The menu has a large selection of fish: we had blue fish, sauteed with garlic, olive oil and tomatoes; zuppa di pesce Veneziana, slow cooked fish&crustacean in broth with tomatoes and herbs; both come with your choice of pasta or vegetables for a side. One person picked the Lasagna and reported excellent results. The olive oil is top of the line, truly extra virgin aromas and consistency. Wine list Italian and more Italian, as it should be in an Italian restaurant, all reasonably priced. We drank a Vernaccia di San Gimignano which went so well with our choices of food, we had to order a second bottle. And please, let's not forget the Tartufo – that yummy Italian creation of ice cream and frozen chocolate, delicious!

Delicious and interesting Italian food, great value

By drtroppo |

My wife and I came here with a friend from NYC when we were visiting. This is our friend's favorite Italian restaurant, and we can understand why. The menu was very interesting, with several dishes that required some explaining by the waiter. I ended up having pasta with calamari in a calamari ink sauce. It was so black that it looked like a prop for a horror movie, but it was full of flavor and I loved it! It was a bargain at about $19. The house red wine for the evening, a young Chianti, was an excellent bargain. We plan to go back every time we visit!

Yummy!!!

By KCBUILD |

Went here for an evening meal after a visit as part of our Chelsea Food Walking Tour. Probably one of the best lasagnes I have eaten, my hubby had the meatballs which literally melted in the mouth. Definately worth a subway ride out of NYC.

Neighborhood restaurant ambiance, fair prices and decent food.

By trip atkins |

Neighborhood place. Ate there twice this month. Intimate and quiet. Salads were good. Veal and chicken good. Despite name, fish dishes were weaker. Bread marginal. Prices are good, portions large. Wine and cocktails fairly priced too. I'd go back just for neighborhood restaurant ambiance, fair prices and decent food.

Lunch pre opera night

By honestopinionfrank |

We were staying in NYC for the weekend to see the opera, and checked in to our hotel early. So we decided to walk around our favorite part of NYC, the village, SoHo area. We were headed to Frankie’s Pizza, but as expected the line was down the street, and always is. I didn’t feel like waiting in line, so we decided to try this place. Boy did we make the right choice. I don’t typically go to Italian restaurants down here, since they all are overly priced and bad food. Ah but wait, this place changes everything. It’s Italian, but owned by Albanians, very nice people. Our waiter was fantastic, helpful and very polite. I wanted to have a bolognaise dish and had mentioned it to our waiter. I then decided to have the Veal Marsala and the waiter suggested I have the spaghetti Bolognaise on the side. Wow it was fantastic, we had the Broccoli rape as an appetizer, and my girlfriend had the seafood risotto. All was very good and we shall return. Just as a heads up they do serve wine, but no other liquor. Try this place you will not be disappointed.

A Great Little Find!

We just 'happened' upon this delightful little Italian restaurant where we had dinner. It is not pretentious but offers genuine good quality Italian food. Great service and food at a reasonable cost, would highly recommend it.

Delicious classic Italian!

By maragonzalez2008 |

As we walked through the door it was like stepping into an Italian classic restaurant of the late 1800’s in NewYork. The roof F is still made out if cooper to prevent fire going up to the second floor, to protect what was the living area. The food here is delicious. Try the gnocchi, the branzino fish, the chicken parmigiana!!! The staff is accommodating and pleasant! A must in the Village.

Disappointing

By Virginia S |

After living 'downtown' for over half my life I am, of course, skeptical of Bleecker St. tourist restaurants but on the recommendation of a friend of Italian American origin who is quite a good cook I gave Pesce Pasta a try. Bread was served warm - A good sign I thought to myself - however the olive oil was cheap & had an off taste. App of Stuffed Artichoke was huge and ok. For a main I ordered the grilled Monk Fish w/a side of linguini w/garlic & oil. Fish was inedible. Thin with membrane & skin, tough & overcooked. Linguini al dente ok. At $22 a real disappointment. Service was friendly. Once was enough. They won't be seeing me again.

Favourite Italian in New York!

By Tara H |

Stumbled across here whilst visiting Greenwich village and can say that it is without a doubt the best Italian I've had in NYC. We ordered the lobster tail and linguine special which was delicious and a huge portion with lots of sea food. The food came to just over $60 for 2 meals, 2 glasses of wine and a starter which we were really pleased with. So pleased we found this place and hope we get the chance to come back.

A night to remember and a meal to die for!!!

This is a cosy resturant ideal for couples or small groups. Me and my husband went there this summer and tried their seafood pastas and I must say, these guys know how to make really delicious pasta. It was one of the best seafood pastas I've ever had. I am not a huge fan of mussels but that day I couldn't stop myself. I will highly recommend this place as it offers the best Italian fine dining experience on a medium budget!

So so

Mediocre student place. Low prices, poor service. Not a very good wine selection. In general I’ve had poor experience with TripAdvisor travelers choice recently. I think this platform is obsolete.

The Best

I had the best spaghetti and meatballs that I have ever eaten in my life!!! My husband loved the seafood lasagna. The waiters were very nice and attentive. We were so glad we stopped in for lunch.

True Greenwich Village Atmosphere with Friendly Service

By Paul S |

By the way, it's not just seafood as the Italian name "Pesce" (fish) might imply. They have a varied Italian menu. TIP: This gives you a sense of authentic Greenwich Village TIP: surrounding Bleecker St. is fun to explore when going to this restaurant. Many of the long time independent restaurants and cafe's in the neighborhood have disappeared. That makes it especially nice to have Trattoria Pesce in the heart of Greenwich Village. It is a small store-front restaurant but it has a lot of charm with cozy lighting and friendly service.

Little gem in Greenwich Village

Pretty small Italian restaurant centrally located on Bleecker Street. Amicable team and nice interior. Great fish and pasta dishes for acceptable prices. You can easily hop into one of the many bars in the area after you've finished dinner.

Best authentic Italian restaurant in NYC

By Stephanie F |

We live in the West Village and Trattoria Pesce Pasta is a neighborhood staple. No frills old school Italian on Bleecker street that has the best eggplant parmesan in NYC, hands down. Their red sauce is unbelievable and we will regularly take out just the sauce to cook with at home. Everything here is delicious. Definitely reccommend eating here if you are traveling from out of town!

NICE OLD FASHIONED ITALIAN RESTAURANT

By delospoppy |

We went for dinner, great traditional spaghetti and meatballs along with other dishes like Grandmas used to make. Nice service - a little dark inside, but that was fine with us. Nothing fancy, which makes it nice. Basic Italian wine.

One of the best finds...

We always try to eat here when we are in NYC. A great atmosphere and fantastic food. Normally, I am not a seafood person, but this place does it right. The pasta dishes are also excellent. Consistently fantastic, reasonably priced...a real keeper.

A Neighborhood Favorite We

By CW |

A Neighborhood Favorite We have eaten at Trattoria Pesce pasta many times and have always enjoyed the food, the warm atmosphere and the overall experience. The portions are ample and always delicious. Among my favorite dishes are the grilled salmon, the chicken rollentine, chicken Parmesan and linguine and clam sauce. A gem.

Addicting

By Luci P |

My friends recommended this restaurant, but we don't usually visit Italian because I am and cook very Italian. All I can say is wow. The service was wonderful and the food impressive. We ordered the mussels marinara and did not leave a drop of fresh tasty sauce. I had the red snapper special and my husband the soft shell crabs. We had to try each other's . So good. The carafe of house wine was perfect. We must go again.

Quality food and authentic atmosphere

Dinner was lovely, we shared roasted peppers as a starter, and had meat ravioli (beef and veal) and linguini with shrimp (a special). Both were excellent. The wine list offers many choices of Italian and domestic at reasonable prices. Really nice meal.

Old World Italian.

During our last visit to NYC we passed by Pesce Pasta and noticed the amazing antipastas in the window with the picture of Rhea Pearlman and Danny Da Vito smiling back at us. We decided we really needed to try it but every evening we were by it was packed so we opted for lunch. Although the antipasta wasn't displayed yet, once we ordered it they filled the window display and brought us an amazing selection. The special that day was lobster with linguini. Talks about an understatement! When the dish arrived, besides the beautiful poached lobster were clams and mussels on a bed of home made pasta with a heavenly marinara. Great Chiantis busy the glass or bottle. Don't miss desert!

Fabulous food, good setting, bad waiter

By 899travelguy |

We went here for dinner after a Yankee game. I haven't been here in 25 years. The food was excellent. I had a fettuccine plate and the it was cooked beautifully. My wife had fish which she loved. The wine list was reasonably priced and served at a good temperature. Our only complaint was an indifferent waiter. We were never brought any bread, though every other table was. We had to ask for water 3 times before we got ANY. The owner was quick to re-fill, our waiter - not so much. The best attention we got from him was when he picked up our paid check to see how much of a tip he got! We would definitely return soon, but make sure not to sit in his section.

Atmosphere

I've been going to Pesce Pasta for years, every time I'm in the area. The food is great, the service always great, and the atmosphere and feeling of the restaurant can't be beat. It's been run by a family of brothers, and their children are now working there, too. It's a very friendly place, in the heart of Greenwich Village, and I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Could eat here every day.

By Louise M |

Met our relatives in this restaurant while on holiday and I can safely say it was the best meal while in the city. Can not fault this place at all. Very friendly staff, delicious food and great atmosphere. Small place but it is quality not quantity so please never change. If only I knew about this place before. Best treat from my uncle to have dinner here. Will happily return and recommend to anyone I know traveling.

Best meatballs Ever

Not sure of “ever” but definitely the best I’ve had! I could have eaten 4 but glad I didn’t. Great cafe, will be back to try more items.

Major Disappointment

By Geekguy1 |

My friends and I ate here before and liked pretty much everything about it, so today we went out of our way to make a return visit. What a major disappointment. There were no prices for the carafes of wine; fortunately we asked and it was more expensive than decent bottles. There were also no listings or prices for glasses of wine and we were charged $1/glass more than the waiter told us. The most upsetting part were the dinners. My pork chop pizziola was in a very good sauce, but the chop itself was very thin and overcooked. My two friends both had the Mixed Grill and one of them said it was one of the worst restaurant meals she's ever had. The one scallop in each dish was severely undercooked, the one shrimp on each plate was tough and tasteless. Finally, the fish was days away from being fresh. The accompanying broccoli and pasta was good. We told the waiters and acting manager about our unhappiness with the meals and got 2 replacement scallops. Not even a real apology or the option to get a different meal. And the slow service was with a restaurant less than half filled. We will obviously never return here.

Amazing food,Great prices

Amazingly good food at very reasonable prices. Started put with 🥦 Rabe and then had fish dish with clams, shrimp and scallops. Very fresh seafood!

Amazing!!!

Fresh items across the board!! You will eat like royalty because the servings are ample. Appetizers are divine. Their wine list is on point. Prepare for an Italian treat on Bleeker Street!
