My husband and I visited for dinner. We shared the turkey burger along with an order of fries and fried pickles. The sides were really good, perfectly-seasoned and not overly greasy. The burger was not good at all. Their beef burgers might be better, but comparable restaurants have excellent, very tasty options (veggie, turkey or chicken) for people who avoid beef. Twisted Root’s turkey burger was really dry and even though it was topped with pesto and goat cheese, it lacked flavor. It was totally unremarkable. Go for the sides, but if you are looking for a flavorful and juicy turkey burger, look elsewhere.

Me and my husband met his sister over here for dinner and drinks and as always had a great time! We sat near the bar and ordered that way! Much simpler then having to wait in the line. By the way.... the line is understandable since the burgers are off the chain! Love this area of Dallas and will always come back for seconds!

This place used to make one of the best burgers in town. But, my most recent visit was a letdown. The burger was pedestrian. The parking next door is pay parking and it only gives you 35-40 minutes when you pay for 60 minutes. I was bummed to see how much the quality of this Twisted Root had dropped. But, the pickle barrels were still the best!

Great burgers and fries in a fun atmosphere! Their milkshakes are worth it so grab one! We enjoyed our visit but seating is limited at peak hours.

Nice burger place Very causal Lots of options , done to earth, burger is delicious Young and active atmosphere

After visiting the DMA (no it isn't near there, but on our way home) we stopped in here for their Vegabond burger. We knew they had a vegan option on their menu, but hadn't had an opportunity to stop in and try it. I was a positive experience. We walked in not knowing much about it and apparently in the back/side doors... so it wasn't obvious that it was a self-serve place. (order at the counter, pick-up your food when it's ready) We both ordered the Vegabond and fries. The patty made from chickpeas, black beans, brown rice and quinoa. It wasn't perfect but it didn't disappoint. Many "house-made" veggie burger patties fail to hold together well and end up a bit squishy. The texture and flavor of this burger was great, but it too suffered a bit in the texture area, getting a bit squishy and falling apart. Not to a disaster point, but it is worth noting. I had some watermelon sweet tea, which I thought I wouldn't like, but it was delicious.

I love getting to try foods with a bunch of different flavors and Twisted Root does it so well- from there Freshman 15 Burger (has french fries in it) to their "Adult" milkshakes (the Banana Baileys and Amarreto Oreo are my personal favorites) you will leave wanting to come back and try more! They also have a long list of things you can add on to your burger (fried egg, alioil sauces, sauteed onions, etc.) if you want to put more of a twist on your buger. There is a vegetarian burger that I believe is a black bean based patty that I really enjoy and they have a chicken patty also if you don't want beef. Once you order your burger you get a famous person's name in place of a number so that's a fun extra part of the experience you get when you go to Twisted Root. I've been to several locations and have loved them all the same. They even have one in the DFW airport (with a limited menu)!

This place is amazing from the fun way they call you to the counter to pick up your order to the delicious and unique beverages and condiments! If you like burgers then you have to try Twisted Root! There is even a Great Turkey Burger option!

We were staying at the Sheraton and this was an easy walk. The food was all fantastic and the milkshakes were great. So good we went twice. Tip: If it's a huge line you can sit belly up to the bar and order there.

We visited Dallas on Father’s Day weekend. Friday night we tried to eat here, and the line was out the door,so we tried again on Saturday...it was SO worth the wait!! Burgers were fantastic and the homemade chips and peppercorn ranch was awesome! What was even better was listening to the owner call out the order names! Would visit here again!

Great place nice crowd good burgers funny order names given at the deep elum location and bomb pickle selection

We're over-the-top impressed with this joint and so glad we landed here when looking for someplace near Baylor Medical Center. The burgers are big and fresh with so many choices, it was hard to decide which variety of toppings we wanted. The fried onion strings and freshly cut fries were plentiful and tasty, too. The only downside is that we live out of town and can't frequent this place more often. Two thumbs up!

We had wagyu burgers with fries and they were amazing! I wish we lived nearby so we could eat them again! I think this is the best burger I've ever eaten. The restaurant itself is basic but it's fun. They serve great margaritas (the house special margarita) but I defy anyone to have more than one - they are so huge, and I slept rather well that night afterwards!

Outstanding array of pickles, solid onion strings, and a good burger. Happy hour beverages just added to the cost effective dinner.

Second time we went and food is amazing. Burgers all have wild names and have great flavour. Not real impressed with the service, but I will let it slide because of the good food. (Shouldn't have to though) Employees way more interested in chatting with one another and others in such a hurry to cover for the talkative ones that you have a hard time asking a questions or getting help. Food though is to die for. GREAT BURGER.

I've been to two Twisted Root locations - this one and the one in Carrollton. Although the Carrollton one is a bit more upscale, the downtown TR is the best all around. They have an old grill that churns out their specialty burgers that just taste better at this location. Also, the original, gritty sister has much more character and "road house" charm than the other. Oh, and don't forget the pickles! They have ranch pickles. Ranch pickles?!? #Addicted. Some of my favorites include the Spicy Goat burger, the Twisted House Salad, the onion strings, and their house-made, flavored root beers & iced teas (vanilla root beer & watermelon tea). Have been meaning to try their grown-up milkshakes that contain alcohol (Banana & Bailey's is the first I'd try), but I'd rather fill up on the burgers and pickles!

A rustic restaurant with great food and milkshakes. Here you can enjoy your meal in a relaxed atmosphere. It is really worth a visit.

Me and the family went on vacation. I got the spicy goat and it was awesome. The only thing I regret was that I did not get a shake like my wife did. That was the best shake I have ever tasted!

This is one of our favorites now. We don’t get to TX/LA often, but when we do this place is a must. The customer service is a little lackluster, but most places are after Covid it seems. The food though! Had the burger with goat cheese and bacon along with the fried green beans. So good! And I love that they still have the pickle bar. Sauces on the table were great. Bathrooms needed some updating. Tables and floors could’ve been cleaner.

Cool restaurant in Lubbock. Near our hotel. Near Texas Tech. Burgers were very good. Service fast and staff was friendly. Highly recommend.

Some of my family members told me about an amazing hamburger place Twisted Roots. I decided to go and try it out.I love the selection of meat for the burgers, the teas, the sauces/condiments. I will definitely go again...

We saw this restaurant on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. In that episode they showed a blue cheese burger that I knew I had to try. It was served fresh and cooked to perfection but there was not enough blue cheese on the burger. On the table they have bottle of homemade sauces. I tried the BBQ and it was excellent. We shared fried veggies which were good and hand sliced potatoe chips. They have a variety of standard and unique fountain drinks like pistachio root beer and Banana Watermelon lemonade. I drank a Fat Elvis Shak, which was a banana peanut butter shake with bacon. However, I could not drink it because there were so many candy pieces in it the straw kept clogging. I ended up chewing my shake instead of drinking it. Had I known there were big candy pieces I would have opted for the Smores Shake. This restaurant is known for serving an eclectic assortment of meats such as rabbit, elk and bison. They boast about their peppercorn ranch dressing and charge extra for it. We tried it but it was way to salty to enjoy. They have a pickle bar with various types of pickles, try them all! We did!

We all enjoyed the food and rootbeer. The outdoor seating was good, too. We will definitely be back on our next trip.

I always like when dining has a bit of an experience to go along with it. Maybe I’m easily amused, but I liked how instead of a number they give you a coaster with a famous person or character on it and the gentleman calls out your “name” with a bit of flair — singing the Mickey Mouse theme or a Frank Sinatra song. He obviously enjoyed his job and it showed. The burgers and chips were really good too. You can build your own burger with a plethora of toppings, bun type and meat choice (I had buffalo). Or, they have signature burgers too. Hubby had the “Kevin Bacon” which had blue cheese and bacon on a brioche bun. Prices were reasonable too.

Food very good, however, service sometimes confused. Our group was 8, and 3 orders were mixed up or delivered wrong. One cob salad had a beef patty on top instead of an egg. All things considered, this is a good place to go. Hard to find parking during busy times.

First, the correct location for my review is Terminal A at DFW Airport. When you get a burger in cattle country, you expect a good cut of meat. The burger was grissly, tough, and lacked good beef flavor. It provided a place so sit a spell, but the racket from the boom box across the hall at Brookstone's was annoying. The noise of course is not their fault, but colors the atmosphere.

As seen on Food Networks’ Triple D!! I saw the show 2 weeks ago and since I was traveling to Dallas, I thought I would check it out!! Great food!! Great atmosphere!! I love that they give you an name of a famous person when you order it up! I was #carrieunderwood. Gallon containers of pickles to choose from. The Bead N Butter pickles were delicious!! You’ve got to try the black cherry soda!! The downside.....$10 to park in the closest parking lot.

Food was great! Cooked exactly the way you order it! It has a cool atmosphere and all the staff here were very friendly. Will definitely return to this establishment on the next trip to Dallas!

Any type of burger you could think of. Cooked perfectly, served with yummy pickles. Hungry for bison, lamb, alligator to name a few, they have the burger. It is a must go to whenever I am in Dallas. So good

The choices of different burgers is huge. With wild game different types of beef the choices seem endless. Then you can choose from all the different pickle flavors. I think these are as good as the burgers. As for the burgers everyone I have ever tried has been delicious.

Wow the Burger was soooooo good wish they had locations in Florida the atmosphere is one of its on chic with a twist just like the name so much to see in this place food again was totally on point fresh

Great burgers in any setting. quick service, burger well prepared with all the trimmings. great pickle bar to round out the taste. rather cramped area for sit down eating, to go seemed quick and lots of customers. Fries well prepared and hot, Flavor of the meat was good and juicy.

I love burgers and this burger was one of the best I've ever eaten. Cooked perfectly! Liked the "celebrity" pick-up names that you are given.

I was in Dallas for a conference, and was looking for something unique. As I was looking through menus, I stumbled on the Twisted Root Burger. Usually, I stick to a vegetarian diet, but I am not one to pass up the opportunity to try something new, so when I saw a camel burger on the menu, I knew where I needed to have dinner. My husband and I walked to the restaurant from our nearby hotel. The restaurant has a fun, sort of retro theme. We placed our order and sat down with a couple of beers while we waited. The food came out great. My burger was good. A little dry, but flavorful. The fries were crispy and delicious, and the sauces were fantastic. If you ever have the chance, I recommend trying something new at this joint.

I booked an Uber to travel to Twisted Root Burger in Deep Ellum. The service was decent, but I was surprised that they ran out of lettuce for the salads. I had a specific order in mind, so I changed it to the Big Tex Burger and small fries. The burger was good, but it did have a taste of fish, and that could have been from old oil used in the onion rings or perhaps an overripe avocado. The fries were crispy and seasoned, but the majority of the fries were smaller than an inch, including lots of fry crumbs.

Went here for sons 19th birthday. Always a fun atmosphere and good burgers. Burgers are always cooked as ordered and like the choice of pickles. Have a decent selection of adult shakes. Also have some wild game burgers and pretty good vegetarian selections.

The title says it all. The milkshakes are phenomenal as are the burgers. Atmosphere seems like it’s a bit of a dive place but it’s really amazing. Vibe is great too!

I never know what to get when we go because I love all the burgers so much! My top two favorites are the verde and the western.

Burgers were great, fries maybe a little disappointing, atmosphere fun, service good. Came after a game with my sons and grandson - would definitely visit again.

I was visiting Dallas and the Twisted Root Burger Co was recommended as a great burger place. I wasn't thrilled about visiting another burger restaurant, but I thought I would give it a shot. The brick facade looked old and I didn't know what I was getting myself into. Parking was a little difficult to find. They have no parking lot, but just street parking. The inside was bustling with customers looking like they were enjoying themselves. The first thing I learned about this place was that they not only serve beef, but they also serve exotic meat (venison, elk, lamb, ostrich, rabbit, camel, duck, and boar). My 1/2 pound burger was served hot with french fries and the fix'ns on the side. The toasted bun was awesome and the seasoned hamburger was delicious. They also serve specialty fries, salads, and home-made custard shakes. It was fun being given a famous person as my ticket order...I received Bill Gates and went up to get my food when his name was called. They is also serve liquor there and make their own brand of whisky. This place would make a great watering hole. This is definitely a recommended place and next time I am in town, I may brave an exotic meat burger.

This low key establishment makes one heck of a burger. The setup is brilliant - you pick a protein and then select from a list of toppings. That’s is. Add a side or a milkshake and you’re done. No long list of options. The proteins offered are unique. Regular offerings like beef, turkey and chicken are offered alongside buffalo, camel, etc. I went with basic beef patty covered with Swiss and garlic mushrooms. One of the better burgers I have had in a long time. The jars of self-serve pickles were also solid. Just a little something to munch on while waiting for them to call your assigned name or phrase when your real food is done. Definitely go. You will not regret it.

If you are looking for something healthy and lite, look elsewhere. Everything here is over the top in delicious and always has a cherry on top. Or rather alcohol in their milkshakes. Burgers are great too.

Great place, we have eaten at 3 different TR and not one has let us down. Yummy, fresh, and always great people!

Great burgers, wide variety of proteins. A bit pricey but well worth it for the taste! Gluten free choices including French fries!

Well we dropped into this place because we heard of the “twisted” shakes. Unfortunately upon our arrival the shake machine was down.. :-( We had a couple burgers (my son and I) and a salad for my wife. Everything was really good and the atmosphere was pretty cool. Instead of numbers they used pop-icons (we had - Ghostbusters). The whole area is a revamped warehouse district with cool places to eat, drink and listen to tunes. Family friendly probably up to about 9pm, pushing it about 10pm..

We've been hearing about this place, so finally went there & definitely glad that we did !! This place has a cozy, rustic atmosphere, with a friendly staff. The burger choices were different, ranging from beef to ostrich. If they all taste as great as mine did (beef), then you will be very happy. They have a bar also, in case you're wanting an adult beverage. This was my first time, but won't be my last !!!

If you're going here for the food, then you've chosen the wrong place. If you're after atmosphere, then you're probably okay. The burgers were good, but nothing to brag about. Fries left a lot to be desired.

We recently went to Twisted Root and had a great lunch. I love having the Vegabond. Sriracha is hot, so keep that in mind when ordering. We went have been to several locations, but Deep Ellum is my favorite. They have “exotic” meat burgers for the more adventurous. I also love the sweet potato fries.

This restaurant is causal in feeling but serious about great food and service. There are plenty of options for any palate, with a clean and welcoming atmosphere and bathrooms. This is definitely a great place to great place to bring small children, also.

A hole in the wall type place, but the food was delicious. They have all kinds of burgers and other game options as well. I had a buffalo burger and it may have been the best burger I have ever had! You order at the counter and they give you a name, ie/ Jerry Seinfeld, Betty Boop, etc. instead of a number, and they call you when it is ready. This place is a must! Don't miss it!

Had the Kevin Bacon Burger at the DFW location. Not sure if it's more expensive than a reg location, but it wasn't too bad for the price

Don't come to Dallas without visiting the Twisted Root Burger Co. Burgers and shakes are the best you can get. If you're feeling adventurous, you can try a variety of exotic meats (buffalo, camel, ostrich, etc.) I tried the camel burger and it was fantastic!

Great food and fun people! Homemade root beer and lemonade, but it is made with fake sugar if you allergic like me.

I have had a few burgers now and I just love the flavor. Not convenient as I live in FTW area, but love coming here to meet friends as a central point. The names they use for calling you up to pick up your order is FUN!!!!

Amazing food in a nice Environment and on top friendly staff. Couldn’t ask for much more and I will certainly back another time!

The food is excellent here, lots of different meats including exotics, and the burgers have the traditional to the unique so it's fun. Even the way they give you a celebrity name for your order number is fun. The servers seem to have fun there and it gives the place a fun feeling. Great place for good food and a friendly vibe.

One of the trendsetters in burgers now seem mainstream. Others followed their lead so not as special as it once was, fewer specialty meats than 10 years ago but I always get wagyu anyway. Coppell location is pretty remote and quiet so always usually very quick prep and lots of seating.

This was one of the best burger joints I have ever been to. We had a large party and there was something for everyone. Not only were the burgers great, the sides - fries and fried carrots and green beans - were fantastic as well. They also have wonderful root beer selections. My favorite was the Hazelnut Root Beer.

My friend wanted to go here b/c it was on Triple D. And boy it didn't disappoint! Best burger I have ever eaten!

We started off by going to another restaurant but the line was super long and it was scorching hot outside. A quick trip advisor search led us to Twisted Root Burger--and what a TREAT! One of the best burgers I've had...and free pickles (which is great when you love pickles!) The fries were excellent....everyone in my group loved their food. And it's a fun place, too.

Some friends from the Dallas area took us to the twisted Root Burger Co.for lunch. This place had such a wide variety of burgers from beef to Elk to Turkey and many others. My husband had the beef burger and I had the Turkey Burger both were the best ever. The restaurant is in an old building; nothing fancy at all. They have a lot of fun even calling out the burgers. This is a must stop.

We’ve eaten here a couple of times recently. Our age range has been 24-73. Every one of us enjoyed it! My choice both times was the build your own with turkey burger, brioche bun, carmalized onions, blue cheese, and siracha. So tasty! The guys enjoyed the wagyu. I loved the banana root beer!!!

My cousin took us to Twisted Root Burger because it’s his favourite burger place and we weren’t disappointed. Delicious food, lots of pickles and friendly staff. We could have stayed longer and enjoyed the outside space if we weren’t on a schedule. Worth a visit if you like sports and beer too.

Really had a great time . They have a variety of meet, buffalo Wagya which i didnt know what it was. They have a play area for the kids outside and my twin grandsons loved it! They have a nice selection of beer on draft.

We’ve eaten here many times before and loved it. The burgers are always great, if you can’t find one you like, you’re not trying. On this occasion we actually ate our meal across the street (you can figure out where) and came here for dessert. Son and daughter each got a milkshake, and my wife and I shared an Amaretto Oreo milkshake (must be 21+ to order). Not particularly strong, but tasted great; you are still in shape to drive. So, even if you eat elsewhere in Deep Ellum, milkshakes here are a fantastic way to conclude the meal.

I was doordashing around Coppell, when I found my self in front of this great hamburger restaurant. Great flavors in all they made. The hamburguer has a very special flavor, the size was just right. The service was great, from everybody. The restaurant is 100% recomended

Who knew healthy choices and Birgers would be in a Burgee joint with different flavors of Root Beer. They choose your Name from Ferris Bueller to Molly Ringwald. Cool concept. Very popular and clean.

If you want to be adventurous and try a type of burger/meat not readily available in stores this is the place. Also I really like not feeling like a number and instead feeling like a star.

The food here is simply amazing! I love the fact that each of the orders are themed around famous people. The variety of free pickles to sample from was really good too. If you and a friend are looking for a fun atmosphere and great food...I suggest you give this spot a try.

I did some research and Twisted came up, so we tried it out (family of 4) the place from outside looks kinda like a dive. But once you walk in you can see if has the dive look bu its really clean and taken care of. We order different buggers and all agreed as one of the best we ever had. I wish I had more time on vacation as would have tried other meats, We got a chance to talk to a manager who was walking around making sure everyone was good. What a great experience.

A self serve place to get great Bar B que. Variety of drinks and foods. Fund atmosphere. This is a do not miss place to eat

Show up hungry. These burgers are delicious and they are large. Come with an appetite! Also make sure to try one of the shakes!! I highly recommend the s’mores shake!!

Well worth the little side track. Food was great. Very tasty and hot. Staff friendly and fun. Tho the floors were a bit dirty with food droppings and some paper, over very nice.

Have visited twice and will be back again. A “hole in the wall” burger joint that will leave you a fan too! Their food is fresh and very good and their order calling process is unique. (I won’t give away the details.) On this trip, it looked like they’re working on the parking lot next door. It’s a popular area of town that could use more parking options.

Stopped here for an early dinner. I ordered a salad with a veggie patty and my g/f ordered a mushroom burger and onion rings. Both meals were very good and I woul$ stop here again for a meal.

Everything was really good except the patties. They were overcooked. The patties were dry and hard. The toppings and fries were really good however. Too bad the patties were overcooked.

I love burgers, but I also really love pickles (and beer). Twisted Root has never let me down when it comes to a burger craving. The Spicy Goat is probably my favorite (cheesy, hot, and with bacon...AMAZING). This is a bit of a quirky place, but I always have a blast. If you are looking for more of a formal sit-down spot with cloth napkins and an overly polite (but stuffy) staff, look elsewhere. This is for burger lovin', can 'o beer drinkin', pickle dreamin' fools. And I'm proud to be one. Bring the kids or come alone - you're not going to leave hungry.

It’s so hard The best burger is: The Western The Spicy Goat The Kevin Bacon The In the Buff The Lots-a-Shroom The Freshman 15 Or is it? It’s soo hard! And add: Fried Green Beans n’ Carrots or Treat Yo’ Self Fries or Quincy’s Fried Pickles It’s so hard! Maybe just try it all!

Twisted Roots was a great place to get a burger. I was really impressed with how good the burger actually was! Plus, they have a pickle "bar" with different kinds/flavors of pickles...my kind of place! Once you order you take your tag to your table and they will bring you your food. What's unique about the tag is it's not a boring number...it's an iconic/well known person/character. For example, we were the Flintstone table. This place mixed in some 80s and 90s music videos with some more current ones and also had some sports playing. Definitely would go here again and recommend to anyone staying in Waco.

Whenever we have eaten here we have been pleased. My nephew comes to Dallas just to have burgers here. Great food and drinks.

Always a stop on a trip to Dallas. Had the salad with fried egg. Bad decision. Of course I was in a burger place and should have ordered a burger.

Airport location- great cheeseburger. Better than I expected. Ashraf helped me and was efficient and kind. My food came very quickly.

Delicious burger and club chicken sandwich!! Fries were hand punched and were really good! Good menu!! It was not too crowded. Enjoyed a nice lunch.

If you are looking for a healthier burger then you have found the right place. You can enjoy leaner cuts of exotic meat in your burger for a healthier burger. The fries are great also since they are fresh cut and can come with an assortment of toppings. How about 5 different kinds of pickles right from the barrel? Great shakes make the perfect ending to your meal (unless you prefer something from their bar).

The Milkshakes were soooo good. I had the Bacon Banana "House Special" shake and it was really tasty. Had the Cheesy Bacon fries and those were good, was not impressed with the fried green beans though.

I stopped in for the first time with a friend who has always enjoyed Twisted Root. The atmosphere, although it is a chain, didn’t feel stale or boring. Far from it actually! I ordered the basic burger with onion rings and some fried pickles to share. The meal was excellent and my friend enjoyed his vegan burger! It’s a fun stop that will leave you laughing. Even in the bathroom! Seriously... read the Chuck Norris jokes on the wall even if you don’t have to go.

I was in Dallas on business and wanted to find a good place to try. I went off of reviews and tried Twisted Root Burger. Amazing burgers! Super fun atmosphere and great food. They even had gf options! I highly recommend this place if you are in the downtown Dallas area.

Went here on a date during lunch hour. The Bison burger and fries were delicious! Service was fast and efficient. All burgers are assumed medium unless specified otherwise.

This burger joint is quaint. You walk up to the counter, grab a beer, order your burg from a long list that includes a Waygu burger that requires you to get there early as they were sold out was out. I especially liked the large jars of assorted pickles you could add to you liking. Bottom line the burg was juicy and mouth watering tasty

I love this place for so many reasons. cant believe that it took me so long to review it. The burgers are just out awesome. From the Classic to in the Buff. (My Favorite) The atmosphere is always spiked with laughter eager chatter, The staff is well trained and they enjoy their jobs. Its obvious. They claim that they choose to ignore or insult you but they really dont. This place just has an energy about it. Everything is done right, They make their own condiments. All of the toppings are made fresh each day. The burgers are never less than a half pound. If you want exotic meats, they do that as well. Besides all of the cool stuff mentioned , I know Quincy and have for years. He is my brother in arms. His charisma is infectious. You can not have a bad day when Mr. Hart is around. If you do, you are probably half dead. He loves my kids and I love him. So go to the Twisted Root and get some love and damn good food. SERIOUSLY.

We went here because of the good reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. The choices for burgers and types of meat were interesting. We especially liked the fried carrots and green beans instead of the typical french fries. It was also fun to try the different types of pickles.

The wait was out the door around 1:00 at the Pecan Lodge. So we asked a local for other suggestions and this spot right around the corner in Deep Ellum came up and we lucked out. What a place! I thoroughly enjoyed my Western Burger and loaded fries. The house ketchup, house pickles, homemade root beer-everything was just delicious here. Everything is local, the portions are huge, and the decor is fun. Check it out-you won’t be disappointed.

If you can find a place to park by a parking meter on the street you will save $10. - that's what it costs to park in the lot next to the Root. After perusing the menu for awhile - like you will see everyone else doing... you get to order. The prices are not unreasonable and the burgers are actually pretty good. So are the frys. It's an order at the counter and pick it up yourself spot. It's Deep Elum - go for the bar scene.

Visited here on our first night in Dallas and it was a great introduction to the city. A great menu of tasty burgers and fun atmosphere. Service was quick and portions were big!

I was expecting more, but hey it was a good burger. Not great, just good. Fries were great. Nice place just not impressive like I was expecting more.

My children ate at this location during our trip. What was special about it is that they rarely eat burgers. It appears that they enjoyed their meal which for any family with children is always a plus!

I've been here many times but this last time was special. We had some family members in from Tuscon and had a great time, hiving burgers, drinking a beer or two, and catching up. I think everyone in our group ordered a different burger and was not displeased. Great Food, Great People! and Great "superhero" names! Enjoy yourself and let loose.

This was an okay place to eat. It is a good burger but a little pricey. We also had to ask for the items that were missing from our order. Be prepared to have to look for parking in the area and it can be difficult to find.

So good...I had a classic cheeseburger and it was incredible, but the real star was their signature shake, The Fat Elvis. WOWZA. It was really good!

I have eaten here several times. Came once , wasn’t impressed. Gave it another chance but was still not impressed. Have only come back for work related lunches where others have dictated our lunch plans. This place is way over priced. The only good thing here is the pickles. They do make their own pickles and all flavors are delicious !

I visited the one in Carrolton. The place is nice and they have a different setting. You paid the meal, they call you to pick it up. The beers have to be paid at the bar. I did no like the fries. They were like burned.

Those onion rings really looked great, but just opted for something healthier after a long walk. Enjoyed your homemade veggie burger. The sauce was better than the burger, and at the same time, really appreciate their having something for vegetarians! It was nice eating outside, and they people working there were extremely nice! A fun burger place and you can rent the outdoors for events. Nice location in the heart of Coppell.

Traveling to Europe today and thought I would get one last burger for a while. Very disappointed with the DFW location. Burger was dry and missing the cheese, wife’s salad was missing several ingredients and the turkey that was supposed to be on the salad was an over cooked turkey burger. Service was fair and they didn’t have their signature soft drinks. 36.00 for a salad, burger, and two cokes. Would have been better to go to McDonald’s and I hate them.

Heard great things about this place and wanted to try the Western and my grandmother wanted the classic. Not sure why they ask how you want the burger cooked if is just going to come out Well done with a little char on it. When I asked them if they could make another one but try to make it a medium I got eyes rolled at me and then heard the cashier complaining about me to the cook. I told them never mind and just put tons of mustard and mayo on it. The only moisture was from them and other than that the burger was dry and really no flavor. Menu looks great and tons of burgers I would definitely try but not anytime soon.

We went to twisted root, it changed forever how we look at burgers!. The wagyu burger is an exquisite taste for any enthused bovine connoisseur. Eat meat, dont be a snowflake:).

Fun atmosphere, lots of burger choices and toppings. Good onion rings in a fun neighborhood of Deep Ellum. Would recommend.

Food: The burgers are good but not fantastic. We ordered the Le Wagyu and a customized Buffalo burger with toppings of the “verde burger.” Both were solid, good burgers. But neither was exceptional or a stand-out in our history of eating burgers. Onion rings were thin and tasty., The “twisted house salad” was substantial and included fresh quality ingredients including grape tomatoes and real bacon. Service: self-service for food. Bar service was excellent. Overall cleanliness: average Bathroom cleanliness: below average Misc.: Free wifi

One of my top three in all of Texas! Great burgers, great service! I would recommend Twisted Root to anyone and everyone!

It’s worth the hassle of finding parking to visit the Original Twisted Root. The experience alone was worth it, but the food was also amazing. They have done a fantastic job of keeping this place an experience without jeopardizing the quality of the food. My husband had the Elvis milkshake and it came with a toasted peanut butter and banana sandwich hanging off the side. Also, the onion straws are amazing!!

We did the all American and the Wagu. Both had good quality and nicely spiced. The fried pickles were good as well. Fun spot.

I have celiac disease so for me food safety and gluten free options is important. They have a good gluten free bun here that doesn’t fall apart when you eat it and it doesn’t taste like cardboard either, which is common. Their dedicated frier also allowed me to eat french fries. My meal was delicious and I didn’t get sick from cross contamination. My husband doesn’t have celiac and had all the gluten. He liked his burger and the variety of homemade pickle options. OTHER: There is construction happening in front of the restaurant so the road has construction. If you want an eclectic vibe inside this is it. Chuck Norris quotes on the restroom walls, funny names for your order, and hip hop music playing with yellow animals mounted on the walls.

Great food. Decent prices for the quality of the food. LOTS of choices. I got a burger that had fries and a fried egg on it. It was excellent. Instead of getting an order number they assign your order a celebrity name. I got John Travolta and when my order was up he called out Danny Zucko which I thought was funny. The staff seem to enjoy themselves which always makes for a better experience.

We were walking around Deep Elum and searched for a good place to eat for lunch. I have heard of Twisted Root and how good their burgers are. That is so true! The staff is really friendly and funny. They give you a name of a famous singer/group or actor and that is how they announce your order is ready. They made us laugh. There are so many choices of how to get your burger and even had buffalo burgers. They have a veggie burger too. I got the Big Tex and it was so tasty. I also had the onion strings and they were really good. My mom had a buffalo burger and it was good. The fries are good and crispy. Great great atmosphere and good drinks and good food. Stop in here and you will love it too.

Burgers are the best thing in Deepl Ellum and Twisted Root is one of the places. Nothing beats a good burger, not the beer, not the unnecessary sarcastic Service, its just the good food. hence these guys get 5.

Following a Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives trail while driving through Texas, this was our first stop. Located in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, it's a great place to people watch too! TIP: Driving around the Deep Ellum neighborhood was a maze of one-way streets, LOTS of people walking around and poor parking. Heavily suggest simply parking in the lot next to Twisted Root Burger and paying your fee. It's worth it to reduce the hassle. The ambiance inside is lively and the cashier/kitchen staff both friendly and lots of fun. It will take 15 minutes or so to get your food after ordering, so use the time to scope out your place to sit and enjoy some of the free pickles they offer to choose from. We chose to eat outside, up on the roof. The burgers were fantastic (Le Wegyu!), and the Treat Yo'Self Fries were even better!! Bring your appetite, as these will fill you up. If one of these were located in our state, I would go regularly. A great find!

I thoroughly enjoyed the casual atmosphere, a great burger and friendly service at the bar. They had a decent selection of local craft beers and an interesting/fun interior decor.

Fun place to go with friends. Good burgers, great fries and a good selection of things to go with them!

Went to Deep Ellum to explore and photograph as I had heard it was an amazing artsy area. It was!!! Was meant to go to the Pecan Lodge for lunch, but the line was 30 people deep, I wasn’t going to wait on my own. Went on to trip advisor and found this place near by. It was such an awesome little burger joint. So many different bespoke burgers to chose from!! Super friendly staff, yummy food, nice authentic atmosphere, no fuss just great food and ambience in the heart of Deep Ellum.

Great burgers and atmosphere. Staff was very efficient and helpful. Price in line with other burger joints.

Food is EXCELLENT. Atmosphere is very fun. They have a great sense of humor that is on all of their signage. Gluten Free is very good here. Just tell them it is an allergy and they are diligent. Our group reported that burgers, fries, root beer, and fried green beans/carrots were delicious. I paid $2 to park in the parking lot adjacent to the building.

Love their burgers!! I try a different one each time I visit. Fries and onion rings are delicious too!

We really enjoyed this place in downtown Dallas. There are some great burger combinations with lots of choices of toppings. They are big and juicy. The beef is good quality. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They have a bar area with good drinks as well. The restaurant is also in a fun location. After we finished dinner, there were lots of night life options close by to keep the fun going. My only complaint is that the shakes weren't as good as I hoped. They weren't very flavorful and oddly, they weren't even very cold which seemed weird for a shake.

I have 4 kids ages 8-18. They are picky eaters in their own right. This is one of our spots because they can all have it "Their way". My 8 year old is on a special diet and they are so accommodating. Thank you!!

Pros: WE ordered the Bacon Burger, it was prepared quickly and was hot, french fries were very good as well. Cons: the customer services was terrible, each of the staff members we interacted with treated us as if we were an inconvenience. I want to make sure that readers know that we visited the restaurant at DFW Airport. Due to the poor customer service I will be sure to walk very quickly by this restaurant the next time I am in DFW airport.

Excellent burger at the twisted root burger Co. Lots of options to choose from, but everyone in our party was extremely happy with their choice. Some local beers on draft. This is an order from the counter kind of place, then they call your character/move/etc (whatever you are given when you order) when your food is ready. They have a self serve pickle bar with a few varieties of sliced dill pickles to snack on before your food is ready or to add to your burger. Prices were reasonable.

It might be the velvet paintings of Elvis or the Chuck Norris Sayings on the Bathroom walls but this place is not your typical restaurant. Don't bother telling them your name because they will give you a name when you order "Sandra Bullock", "Pee Wee Herman", " Michael Jackson" .... great burgers, home made pickles and root beer made in house. Want something more exotic than beef on your burger try the wild game of the day... Ostrich, Rabbit, Venison or Bison (always changes). No wonder Guy Fieri chose this spot for a "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives". Local microbrews or Lone Star beer served ice cold, amazing milkshakes. We love this restaurant and the people that work there. Must visit destination in Deep Elum.

Been to a number of the Twisted Root Burger locations. All of them are very good. They have a very nice selection of burgers and I've always walked away pleased and definitely full. Definitely recommend.

This place is great! Family friendly with a great atmosphere. Wife is not a fan of the burgers but I think they a good! Pickles that you can put on are worth the visit alone not to mention the root beer. Little pricey but still worth a try.

The food and atmosphere were awesome! Very laid back, and you are given a card with a celebrity name on it when you place your order. I was Mrs. Moneypenny, and others in our group were Superman, Denzel Washington, Dorothy Gale, Michelle Obama, and Rhianna. It was fun to hear the names called out when someone's food was ready, even when it wasn't ours! Try the buffalo or wangyu beef burgers - but it's all great!

This place is casual-chaos but many chains strive for this vibe. The burgers are great, even if (like me) you stick to beef, but they always have buffalo and a rotation of other meats available (elk, ostrich, and duck come to mind, I think there are others). Someday maybe I'll experiment, but the beef burgers are so juicy, fresh, and fantastic I hate to mess with a good thing.

Unique place. Good food with large portions and tasty combination. It is a self-serve spot. We went to try the unique meats they advertised but the didn’t have any. Ended up getting the Millionaire Waygu beef burger. It was delicious!

Me Marilyn Monroe? I don't think so. The food is good and the atmosphere is all laid back and fun. Good place to hang for a drink or two. Great place for all family members.

Food was amazing, staff were lovely, very accommodating, atmosphere was great! Zero complaints. I had the burger with goats cheese and it was delish. Would highly recommend!

Stopped for lunch with son and grandkids. Staff was very helpful and offered good suggestions as this was our first visit. My son and I had a special burger on texas bread. Included an egg on top with many other toppings. Fries are good as are the onion rings. Large portions and you will need a doggie bag. We will return.

While in Dallas I visited the Twisted Root Burger Co. for lunch. The restaurant is located in an older area of Dallas with lot of red brick, low storey architecture. When I walked in, I found the place quite large. I ordered at the counter and found the prices very reasonable. I was given a coaster with a famous name on it. Mine was Shakespeare. When "Shakespeare" was called I picked up my meal at the counter. It didn't take long at all. I ordered the Classic without the cheese, but with lettuce and tomato. I also ordered a side of Hand-Punched Fries. The burger itself was big and juicy with a good bun to stand up to it. It wasn't overly messy but still needed a few napkins. Actually each table had its own roll of paper towels, always a good sign in my book. The burger itself was well grilled and nicely seasoned, I added mustard for extra taste. My only beef (ha-ha) was that I only got one thin slice of tomato and a single small leaf of lettuce, could have have used more. The fries (never frozen) were also very good and great with ketchup. The décor is typical of many of the Triple D places I have visited. Very eclectic with a local theme. I was one of 2 non locals (he found it through Google) and the place filled up fast during the lunch hour. One wall has animal heads representing the different meats you can order from time to time. Having experienced the Twisted Root, I would love to return to try other menu items.

Stopped in for lunch while in town for Volleyball. Had the buffalo burger and a couple of regular burgers. All innit was a great place. The VB team kids all had great food and a fun time sitting upstairs.

Great food and it is fairly quick service. I have never been disappointed with the ones I have tried.

We came to Dallas for a 1 night stay. When we travel we always look for new places to try out. I saw this place was featured in Diners Drive Ins and Dives. It was amazing! The burgers were good, the kids like the grilled cheese with avocado, fries with the different sauces were great, and the shake was delicious! The inside is decor is cool too. What really took out though was the owner was there (Sat around lunch) and was taking orders, chatting with customer, cleaning tables, and even gave away a free shake to a customer with a fun game. We highly recommend eating here. Great food and great atmosphere! We will be back 100%.

Average hamburger. Mine wasn’t cooked enough. I like to sit outside so that was good. Parking difficult.

Great burger here , mine was the one with fried onions on top, and jalapeño the burger was juicy and delicious. The fries were excellent too and when we went the wait was not too long . My sons burger however which he ordered medium rare was over cooked , but they did replace it straight away. I would certainly go back for another burger here.

You have to try this place there are several locations but I love the location across the freeway from the George Bush Library. The fried everything plate is a must have. The Homemade root beer is enough to make you cry. Have fun and relax

Friendly service. Funky decorations throughout the restaurant kept us entertained while waiting for our made to order lunch. Burgers were tasty. Be sure to check out the free pickle bar.

We had initially went to Deep Ellum to eat at Pecan Lodge, but the line was out the door so we walked down to check out twisted root. So glad we did! The place is awesome. Service was outstanding and pretty quick. The food was really great. They have a solid beer selection as well as a fantastic variety of pickles to choose from. Would definitely come back and eat here again.

We stopped here after going to a museum in the city. We had a large group and everyone loved the burgers. A couple people had milkshakes - both very good. The fries were also excellent. Our group included people that are vegetarian and also gluten free. They said the Tree Hugger burger was very good. The gluten free buns were also very good. The fries are gluten free as well.

Loaction review date April 5/24 This spot is typical of most Texan burger joints, simple open floor plan & plain picnic style seating with about 6 booths. Service was enthusiastic & friendly. Food Not sure why the food served was not even close to the advertised pictures of 1/2 lb patties thick & rounded. Ordered the patty melt, with Swiss cheese & fries.. Everything about it was anything but tasty. Could not taste the Swiss cheese.. Patty was plain and had to have been cooked from the frozen cheap flat 1/4lb patties, again with no taste. No amount of salt, pepper ketchup & mustard could save it. The fact this poor representative of a burger was close to $10 each added to the disappointment and cannot understand how a $30+ meal for 2 garnered any 4 or 5 star ratings.. Shake My girlfriend ordered a reeces shake.. and was very surprised the concoction did not have any real ice cream in it. It tasted felt & like marshmallow filling and the Reeces could not be singled out of the abominable flavor.. I rarely have had such poor food from a highly rated burger company.. To be those in charge, please take note and inquire how the burgers were not served to their 1/2lb size & cooked with such mediocre abilities as to not have any outstanding flavor or notable freshness to food or shakes... Fries were average. Should have been crispier on the outside..

When in Downtown Dallas, Twisted Root Burger is a must. The shakes are delicious, the onion straws are to die for, and the burgers are plentiful and amazing! The decor of the restaurant is downtown chic, the music is easy to sing a long to, and the

I absolutely love this place! Can't go wrong with any of their burgers, but let me tell you about the turkey burgers! Usually turkey burger patties are pressed and feel like they were frozen, kind of tough. The turkey burgers here basically melt in your mouth. They are fall-apart tender just like beef would be. I highly recommend! Also get a milkshake, any milkshake! You won't regret it!

The list includes camel and alligator. Yuck. But there are more conventional meats, and salads, and pretty much anything you want in Burgers. The place has a fun feel- when they announce your order its to the celebrity name they have given you. The place is expansive- we went to the one downtown and also in Addison- I gather there are several more around time. We went at lunch but I can imagine it gets pretty raucous around dinner and late at night- it has that kind of fee, Bottom line, we had a big group with salads, burgers, steaks and a lot of different choices- and everyone liked what they had.

Airport food is dicey, at best, but if you find yourself in terminal A at the Dallas Ft. Worth Airport, you have GOT to visit this place for a meal. The burgers are freaking awesome, as are the fries. Best airport meal we've had in a long time. Just sorry I didn't do a milkshake, as I heard later that the are really good, as well. Kinda cool as they use celebrity names to pick up food. I was "Jim Carey."

Figured I'd give this place a try. Interesting variety of burgers. I'll try anything on a bun. Food was just OK, but overpriced. Seems more or a trendy place to be seen that a serious burger joint.

Have been numerous times to Twisted Root. The quality of the meat is what brings me back. Great selection and beverages make this one of my Dallas faves

Great burger spot, have different game meat as well. Pickle bar is cool and tasty! Root beer on tap, sides are delish!

Had the Gosh Jam It burger and a Margarita. Both very good. Staff funny and personable. And there’s free pickles! Definitely would come back again.

We ate at Twisted Root following the Silo District Half Marathon. The food was perfect for replenishing calories expended! It was very tasty! One hint.....if you’re getting a milkshake, order it separately after you’ve eaten your burger. Mine was delicious, but too melted by the time I got to it!

Burgers were very tasty & cooked well. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great range of burgers, drinks & deserts. Good decor. Average prices, would go again.

we really enjoyed this place a couple of years ago. really good burgers & tasty fries. just off i75 & Arapaho rd clean & good service. give em a try you will like it.

This is such a fun burger place. Great spot to watch the game and have a burger, maybe even a milkshake on the weekend. My kids love it here, and the atmosphere is super laid back. My kids always have a blast reading the crazy/funny things written on the walls about Chuck Norris or other celebrities. If you haven't been, its a must check out spot!

Delicious burgers and chicken tenders. Also enjoyed the fried platter appetizer. My husband’s favorites on the platter were the fried green beans and pickles and mine were the onion straws and fries. Staff were all super friendly and food was ready fast. Picked this place because it was on DDD years ago and so glad we did! Had metered parking right outside the restaurant.

The atmosphere is an extra perk to the stellar tasting burgers that come out of this joint! The shakes could be meals within themselves. Highly recommended and still talking about it months after my visit.

This is a fabulous, low key burger place on the outskirts of Deep Ellum. They have tons of different types of meat choices and burger combos. My favorite is the Spicy Goat with Buffalo burger meat. The fries are amazing as well as their hand spun milkshakes. Highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for a good burger.

What a great burger place! The atmosphere, the people, and the food are all great! This is the burger joint to go to if you are in Dallas.

The burgers are top rating! Tasty and very filling - would recommend 👌👌👌 We had the fries and chips - western burger and the burger of the week were delicious

Obviously, from the name, this is a burger company. They have a whole menu of burgers (buns, patties, toppings) to choose from, along with fries, beer, and several types of pickles. Yes, highly-addictive pickles in different flavors: hot, ranch, etc. The staff is helpful, the digs are funky, and the food is yummy.

Friendly folks, great burgers. I'm unsure on the alcoholic shakes. Good environment. Beware...be sure to have your order ready by time you get to order window or you'll be rushed or ask to step aside.
Best burger in TX
Nothing compares to Twisted Root burgers. Their wild game selection used to be robust but it’s down to a few selections now. They’d get 5 stars if they fixed that. Regular burgers are very good. Very tasty beef, love the fries and if you are a foot beer fan this is the place to go. Their custom toot beer flavors are worth the trip alone. Seasonal favorites like pumpkin spice root beer in fall are worth planning a visit. Favorite locations are Deep Ellum and Roanoke, and don’t forget the Truck Yard
