Fantastic food, great atmosphere, attentive service! They serve traditional and creatively interpreted Russian and Georgian dishes. Everything is done with plenty of love and attention to detail.

Between the amazing decor, service and food, this place is easily one the best in LES! I literally love everything about this place. The scallops with salo are a slam dunk! I'm not a fan of scallops but I really enjoyed the texture and taste of these. The BEST dish hands down is the buckwheat salad with arugula ! Got totally in love with that salad and will order it all the time I go there. This seriously will be my go to restaurant especially because of their sky open roof- so much light during the day and stars at night! All the waitstaff were super friendly and efficient. I didn't feel too rushed and I also didn't feel like I was waiting around even when it got really busy. Oh...dessert. The Eastern European dessert- oreshky( i think this was the name) were sooo memorable. Long story short, this place is a GEM.

Some of the best food I have had. Atmosphere was cozy, dumplings, borscht, mushrooms and cheese, khachapurri were amazing. We asked for the adjika and the chef brought out a house-made Azerbaijan version with an intense flavor that was magical with our dumplings and sour cream. We will certainly be back! Oh, and don’t forget the multi-layered, delicately flavored honey cake and distinctive Georgian wines.

PROS Excellent quality of food, quantity of food is fine Good wine list, price is awesome CONS Service might be boosted Recommended place in East Village Especially for Russian cousine and Georgean wines

I've been wanting to come to Tzarevna since it opened but haven't had the chance. Locals of Lower East Side will quickly recognize this spot as the former and original location of Mission Chinese. It retains much of its original form. We made a reservation on Resy and arrived early at the restaurant. When you go down the steps you'll pass an empty lounge and then the kitchen and finally into the main dining area and bar. Here's where things get a bit confusing. No one greeted us nor paid any attention to us. We went to the bar and the lady there finally acknowledged us and seated us. From there, the service was slow. It took awhile to get any menus and then any wait staff to explain the menu. When my girlfriend asked the lady at the bar to explain the Georgian wines, she could only describe them as, this one is popular. Things were not going well. We finally ordered and as we sat there, saw two more parties come in with the same bewildered reaction. They had no idea where to sit because no one greeted them. Once the food started coming out, the dishes were amazing. The food was delicious. The time in between dishes could've been faster. We also quickly learned from speaking with the waiter that he was also the owner and chef. The lady that sat us was most likely his mom. This was a family business! Overall the food was great and I would come back. My only big comment is that they are really understaffed. You need both more knowledgeable wait staff and a hostess up front.

Excellent menu, atmosphere, and service. Everything we tried was superb, and our server was very friendly and personable. We can't wait to enjoy another evening here the next time we are in NYC!

Heard about Tzarevna on Michael Symon new show (Throwdown). We couldnt wait to try it. They featured the Kachapurri on the show. We made a resie and had an absolutely superb dinner, including the Classic Kachapurri.....Wow! Also a wow was the Borscht, the Solyanka soup, the meat dumplings, and the Duck Shashlyk. We tried the Amber Georgian wine and finished off with a bottle Mukuzani Reserve Georgian red wine. We are anxious to go back because there are so many items we wanted to try. Great friendly waitstaff and owner; warm friendly pace and really reasonable prices!
Fantastic take on Russian and Georgian food
Finally got a chance to try out Tzarevna and so glad I did. Came here with family and we had the most amazing meal, fantastic wine and great service. Every dish we ate I could recommend. Dumplings, khachapuri, rice, borscht, everything. Great job. Can’t wait to come back!
