When I'm in Manhattan in a Monday night I make an effort to eat here. Lobster special under $20 bucks. Excellent meal, great Guinness and air conditioned

The restaurant was OK, however, the staff wasn't nice and didn't eager to take care of us. I like to give tips for the service and this time they didn't deserve a high tip. I admit that the tip I gave them was lower than NY standards but that's because I pay for the service. However, what is totally not acceptable, is that they charged my credit card by $5.00 more than I sign. I always keep the receipt from the restaurants and I always write how much tip I added. When I compared my Credit Card statement with my receipt there was $5 difference. No matter how low the tip is, the staff doesn't have a right to charge more. Unacceptable. No matter what I will never go there again.

If you only go to one restaurant in NYC this one has to be it. The Stone Street are and this in particular building are steeped in history and absolutely remarkable. The staff are great and the food and cocktails are amazing!! We rolled in late on a Monday just to have drinks after having dinner at a really lousy restaurant earlier in the evening. It smelled so good that we decided to have a second dinner of Shepherd's pie, turkey pot pie and the Lobster special. Unbelievable that the Lobster Special on Monday night is only $20 and comes with a full steamed Lobster, corn and baked potato.

Pub like atmosphere was a cool break from an all day walking tour. They had a very interesting brunch with eclectic choices including: ham, delicious home-made corned beef, perfectly smoked salmon, grilled salmon, eggs benedict, steamed broccoli, steamed cauliflower, two or more cheeses, a yummy coconut french toast casserole, New York style cheesecake, boiled shrimp and much, much more. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Waitress was efficient and kindly brought our check when asked since we were on a deadline to meet the ferry.

Had a quick stop lunch here during a break in the New York Tour1 walking tour. Chose the carvery & had the most delicious fish with fresh veg & macaroni cheese (weird US thing but worked ok). However other diners around me ordered off the menu & all the food looked fab. Cleared plates suggesged it tasted good too! The music was an added bonus & as a woman alone I never felt awkward Service was spot on - attentive but not intrusive & bill was a pleasant surprise. Its also located in a street (Stone Street) which has a preservation order (as told by our tour guide) & is a great example of late 18/early 19 century brick built architecture. Excelent if somewhat fleeting visit. Highly recommended

Work group out for a happy hour. Beautiful afternoon, we enjoyed the outdoor seating on Stone Street, and had beers and a variety of snacks. I had made a reservation for an outdoor table earlier in the day, and our group was seated right away. Everyone found something to eat and drink (mostly from the vast beer selection, but a wine drinker or two too). The manager, Santiago H, made sure we were well taken care of. There are a lot of choices in the Stone St/Pearl St block. Ulysses has great staff and manager, good beer choices, more character than most of the other places nearby, and plenty of table space on Stone St. I will be back to Ulysses for sure.

My wife and I dined at Ulysses following a visit to the 9/11 Memorial. It was a hot day, so we chose to sit inside. If we ever return we will opt for the outdoor seating where the atmosphere is lively and the surrounding buildings provide a handsome backdrop. The menu was limited and the portions were small compared to what one might expect for what the owners call an "Irish/Greek" themed pub. They did have a $12- special for a dozen Oysters. The oysters were delicious, and we all agreed that they were the highlight of the meal.

We've been in this place many times after work. But during the summer and fall, this place is off the chart! Beer and mini pretzel is a must try! And the fries are delicious! Besides, everything with beer taste better!

We popped back into this pub having visited on our last NYC trip 2 years ago. It's a nice looking bar with a good choice of drinks. However the service is poor - most other places when you take a seat they are on to you. We had to ask for service. We ordered calamari to share. It was unimpressive and poor value. We had to ask for cutlery which was brought to us - rather than placing it out I had to pass a set to my wife. The service was so bad we didn't leave a tip other than to say keep the 74 cents change from the bill. Then when we left the waitress was soon up complaining that we hadn't left a tip - that was the most attentive any of the staff had been. A disappointment as we really enjoyed it here in 2016.

found this place by accident and we were not disappointed. food was delicious and drinks were great. staff was very helpful and attentive as well.

I was here about a week ago for an after party. It was a week night, but it was very crowded. The bar takes up most of the narrow space so it becomes really tight and uncomfortable. If the area by the bar was more spacious that would totally set the mood there. The bartenders are attentive and work very quickly. It is also located in a central area near major transportation. It is a typical pub like bar. The food is also typical bar food.

Ulysses is a gem! Sure, it's pricey, but the outdoor seating on Stone St is the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a pint with friends after work. Half of the staff is Irish (not Irish-American), the beer list is lengthy and has a good mix of international and local, and the inside has nice nooks for a more private environment, even when it's crazy loud. The food is delicious and the lunch and dinner specials are very reasonable for the amount and quality. Lobster, oysters, full buffets, burgers. You name it, they have it.

Went down for a weekend with friends and kept ending up here 3 days in a row. Food and drinks were great, the bartenders and servers were terrific. We met the owners, everyone made us feel like home.

I did not know what to expect when I entered; this place exceeded all expectations. My Burger was perfectly cooked and delicious. my wifes Gyro (lamb) was falvorful and my daughters "Chicken Tenders" perfect. A 'solid' choice.

We didn't expect to find a popular place like that in the rather austere Financial District of new York, which, of course, has developed lately into an up-market residential quarter as well, after many banks moved out of their old walls. On one of the oldest streets of the quarter, whith cobbled stones and medieval looking buildings, we found "Ulysses", which looked like imported directly from Dublin. Although it was a cold night, guests were seated outside on the street on long benches. We ordered whole lobsters, which was good. Service was fast. But the person in charge of our table, a young woman, was not very friendly but rather little interested and did not communicate very well. For example, on the poorly lit table outside it was not possible for us to recognize that the liquid in the small bowl was not water (to wash the fingers), but liquid butter (to pour over the lobster)...

Stopped in on a Monday night and they had an 18.50 1 1/2 pound lobster special. Great meal and nice selection of beer. I went back the next night and had some oysters.

Probably my favourite bar in NYC on what has to be the best drinking street in Lower Manhattan. Visited with wife and children (6 and 4) and had a fantastic lunch - the carvery served at lunch time is absolutely out of this world!!! The chicken was amazing.... Whether with friends or family this place delivers. Food is great pub food and drinks are priced well... the Guinness is superb, obviously. Stone Street is the place to go for a relaxing afternoon/evening with family.

It's an Irish Pub, and a big one. They have a Pub side and a more tavern0like side with more tables where the bands play. There's a stage and the music is normally pretty good. Very good service (we were served by an Irish guy). A wide selection of very good beers and the food is also good. I'd recommend the homemade Sausage Roll.

I'm not quite sure what it is about New York and Irish bars but there are plenty of them. Most nothing like the pubs I've visited in Ireland. However if you want a dark pub with Guinness and hone cooking then this is as good as any of them. The chicken pot pie was very good. There was also a band about to play which is great. The more live music the better.

We met our daughter and her boyfriend at Ulysses for dinner. We were with another couple and the first thing that we noticed is that it was a very cool place with a young crowd. The four 50+ of us were a rare sighting with most of the patrons being in their 20s or 30s. But we all had a great time. The music was loud so a group conversation was not to be had. I had the Cajun salmon dinner with mashed potatoes and spinach...piping hot and delicious! My friend had the turkey burger which she said was the best she's ever had. Two had fish and chips which were good but a bit greasy and the other had the chicken pot pie which he said had a strange sauce but he ate all of it. The chicken wings were meaty, crispy and flavorful. There was a band on one side of the place which charged a $10 cover but you could hear it on the other side so we didn't pay the cover and enjoyed the band. We would definitely recommend this to others to try out.

Great place for a warm meal, Guinness, ambiance, and wine on a cold NYC night. Stopped in recently on a cold winter night, had warm appetizers and Guinness and wine. Love the atmosphere, right downtown, pictures of James Joyce and sayings from Ulysses right on the walls.

Ah, the old pub so must have good burger and it did not disappoint. Patty very thick and juicy like a real burger should be. I like how the patty is not over flavored and I can savor the natural beef taste. Also very good that it did not try to be fancy with the caramelized onions and exotic cheeses. This is just a good old fashioned burger with the regular toppings of tomatoes, raw onions, pickles, and lettuce. Also tried their rib eye steak and it's very good for a bar steak. Again, just raw natural beef flavor with peppercorn sauce on side. Service is prompt and professional. I especially like the bar seating with the dividers so you can sit at bar with your own private group and not have to elbow with strangers. The only thing I did not like are the servers sneaking up behind you. It would be nice if bartender just serve the food at the bar in front of you without servers coming from behind.

First off address is misleading... Pearl Street but we entered on Stone street... Went for the Monday night lobster special with ex hubby and adult children as we all happened to be in The Big Apple for a graduation of one of the children. Service was kind of slow at times, but otherwise food what we came for Lobster special which came with a cob of sweet corn and a baked potato was good. Each of us had a beer and enjoyed the meal. Did not really review menu to see what other offers or how the pricing is. Lobster deal was $19.99 per person so... we went with that. Daughter had been here before and as she was the graduate, wanted to go back. Glad we did.

A very convenient spot in the financial district in lower Manhattan. This spot has a great patio that comes across as a courtyard and is a very nice place to enjoy an evening. The food is average, with a strong focus to their Carvery, which is the roast of the day. In our case it was Prime Rib, which came over cooked to two of our party. This may have been an isolated situation as the rest of our group really enjoyed the Seafood hot pot and burgers. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly.

Good choice of beers and good music! The pub is quite large and it can accommodate a lot of people. The interior is original and nice!

Nice Irish bar with a good menu. I had fish and chips after a recommendation on trip advisor. Food was good, drink was good. Seems like a great place to hang out with friends.

Stopped by this little place and was overwhelmed by the food which was extremely tasty. The staff are very helpful and prices are fair tbh. I would recommend this place as a must and definitely return. The places is decorated really nice too

Nice, busy bar located in the heart of the financial district. Big variety of draft beer, good service and friendly bartenders

It was the James Joyce connection that drew me in but it almost ends at the door. It's just another Irish theme bar with a decent pint of Guinness. The service was poor and I actually got told off for ordering a pint at the bar and then sitting down in an area which was 'waitress service' only. There was no notice to my knowledge. Nevertheless, it took a little time to get served after that. The food was plain fare. No more no less. I can't see me returning in a hurry.

For 2am it was great to get an edible burger. But that is all it was -- 5 mini burgers w/cheese on boring mini buns. It wasn't nasty but not delicious either. More like a bad snack. I will go back and try their menu listed items.

Ulysses is one of my favorite weekend brunches... Their buffet is out of this world with many premium delicacies. The outdoor space on Stone Street is such an excellent space. Be sure to bring a board game and pull up a bench. Save room for dessert, because there is plenty to choose from. All deserts are from Financier a neighboring restaurant.

We went to this place to celebrate a birthday party and we ended up having so much fun. The drinks were great and food was delicious.

I was here coming back from liberty statue... This is one of the lot places in this street. I choose the tower of beer and an hamburger. Not bad...but Nothing special. Consider to stay here after the 5 pM because on the summer the biggest available space is outside.

They serve a proper pint of Guinness, 20 oz, and it's fresh. The Sunday brunch is a great deal, especially since the raw bar is included. Can't beat Guinness and all the oysters you can eat.

The rating should be (4.1-4.5) 🌟.Much better than the first pub of earlier which I did post on. The decor/ambience was that darker pub I'm use to with enough light to see and eat. Lots of private or semi-private areas or outside seating if you like. Again, the inside was very Irish pub-like, at least what I like (Woody.) The bread pudding was a solid, nice texture and taste, served with small scoop of vanilla ice cream and fresh mint. The Guinness was a great paring. The service was good and efficient even during a fairly busy lunch crowd. I'll be looking forward to a return visit to try more of the menu hoping for consistency! Lastly and importantly, the bathroom was clean, there were paper towels and soap. Enjoy!

Our firm had an event at Ulysses and it was a terrible experience in terms of organization. Basically they thought we wanted to do a company happy hour outside but when I let them know over email that due to the fact that the attendees were going to be buying their own drinks they moved us inside. However, when we got there for a party of 60, they put us at two tables and had all the drinks on one tab. I urgently let them know prior to everyone coming that this is not what we asked for and that the attendees were going to pay for their own drinks. The server who was trying to help was was trying to help so I’ll give her props but the management was really lackadaisical and rude (Kareem). He ended up giving us one table for the 60 person reservation and then gave us two because our food wouldn’t fit. I ended up leaning on one of the tables and I was told not to go over on the other table. I would HIGHLY recommend all company sponsored events to go ELSEWHERE as Kareem and his staff were not accommodating and clearly miscommunicated in what we wanted. Our firm will NOT be doing another event with them and I do NOT recommend any company sponsored events to be at Ulysses.

Love the atmosphere and being able to sit outside , servers were excellent and very nice . Food was great, loved their veggies burgers!

We headed for Stone street after walking over the Brooklyn Bridge. Good beer choice usual bar food (lovely curry) good efficient service

Been here a number of times. Love the area as it has a lot of locals and not a tourist spot. Food is decent--pub style and good apps. Tons of beer on tap around $8 a pint. Wine list is ok. Great atmosphere and decode. Patio in the summer that has to move inside at 10pm. Crowd is younger. Lots of pubs around here and worth looking at!

Went after work for a work social gathering, the bartender was great after the first round she knew our names and kept our drinks coming. We had munchies and they were yummy. I recommend for a gathering of friends or if you are looking to meet some new ones.

Stopped here for a tea time taster. The beer menu is pretty good to be fair but the staff are sullen and inattentive. We ordered six drinks and some water - the water came pretty quickly but the drinks took a long time, frustrating seeing as the place (inside and out) was very quiet. When we came to pay the bill, not inclined to leave a tip on account of the abysmal service so left extractly $31.54 as per the bill. The cheeky waitress said that they didn’t accept coins when paying by cash and asked us to pay $32. I said it was “convenient” that they’d round up in such circumstances and not round down. “It’s just the way we do it”, she said. Annoyed with myself because (it occurs to me now thay) what I should have done was to pick up the cash and pay by credit card because then I would have paid exactly what it said on the bill. ****** Note to self: When you’re on a street of five bars and all are busy except the one that your stopped at, don’t stop brother, move on down the line to the bars where everyone else is - there’s a reason why this joint is deserted!

Stopped here for drinks and appetizers. The food was good but not exceptional. The tavern was very nice and relaxing. Good place for a drink and food.

It's a Pub with pretty good food. The atmosphere was great, the drinks were fine and the grub was delicious. If you are in the area visiting the Financial District, put this place on your "grab a bite" list. The mussels, sliders, seafood pot, and Shepard's pie were great. I just wish the Shepard's pie was bigger. All the other dishes were huge.

I stop in regularly. Nice people on staff and comfortable for after work drinks. Good food and reasonable pricea. What more do you need?

We came in for a late night meal on Friday night and were happy with the quality and price of the food. However, they had a DJ that was fabulous and we wound up having a few drinks and staying longer than expected. We cam back again on Saturday night to see a live band and had the best time! This will be the visit spot from now on.

Went to this restaurant after a tiring day flying to New York. They had an offer for burger and a beer for $16, what a bargain. Really good burgers and fries, any beer from the menu, just what we needed! Service was a bit hit and miss, we had to go and find a waitress at one point and she wasn’t sure if they were doing the advertised offer but she was very pleasant all the same. Noisy music and noisy drunk people but still a good atmosphere, well worth popping in, especially on a Wednesday for the burger and beer offer.

My second time dining at Ulysses. The first time (May 2019), I happened on the restaurant during a walk downtown. The Irish and Greek flags inspired me to go in (I'm Greek + Irish predominantly). First visit, had a couple beers. Second and most recent (June 2021) met a friend for dinner. Had the toastie sandwich. Was not too hungry, a light meal, not greasy, fries were above average. Great small beer list, had a Montauk summer ale. I will definitely dine or pop in for a drink anytime I'm in NYC.

Every time I’m at lower Manhattan we stop bye this place. The food is tasty, service is good and the music is excellent. It is packed with locals, the price is good and the drinks are very well crafted. Many draft beers that you can imagine. We love this place!

Best pub I found. Buzzing atmosphere outside in the Stone street cobbles where you can eat and drink the night away. Not many light bites on the menu so on recommendation I went with Chilli. It was good. Guinness travelled well and the IPA was good also.

As a Brit in NYC it was a revelation to come across Stone Street in the financial district. It's small, cobbled and lines with bars and restaurants. Ulysses was great. The beer was great and the food was good solid bar food. You won't be disappointed here. There were lagers, ales, wines and spirits galore. The food was fish and chips, burgers etc. pretty much what you want when your having a few drinks. I recommend the nachos. Pop in for one and don't be surprised if you find yourself heading back there later. Matt

Good food and loved the street fair atmosphere. You can get a table on the street and order from other restaurants on the block

I am not joking. Disgustind tacos, horrible chips, liquid cheese. Wife range of Brees. And good atmosphere but never ever order nachos!

Ulysses had an amazing unlimited Sunday Brunch for $20.00 with $5.00 mimosa, bloody mary etc to go with it. They had excellent fresh fruits, cheese, desserts, bacon, sausage, eggs benedict, various breads etc and even boiled shrimp and some raw bar items - oysters and clams. I started off at the crepes place nearby with friends and after trying their disappointing fare, decided to give somewhere else a try; I am so glad I did! Even my friends that stayed and ate at the crepes place came over and drooled over my selection and wished they had done the same lol. One thing I do not often find or expect in NYC is a great deal or a cheap price on something with high value, but I felt like I found the best deal in the city for Sunday Brunch. I highly recommend the brunch =D

I think this place is great, in case you hadn't caught on. I go whenever I am in the city. In the winter you can hang out inside, listening to awesome local bands and in the summer you can sit outside enjoying the warm weather. Pearl Street makes you feel like you stepped back in time to old NY.

Had a lovely late lunch here, sat outside on the cobbles of Stone Street. Absolutely gorgeous watermelon, feta and salmon salad. Such a lovely vibe - could have stayed much longer, watching the world go by.

The area around Pearl Street is pretty cool -- with a cobbled pedestrian way and strings of lights. While I didn't try all of the establishments (yet) Ulysses was the most interesting looking. The historic bar has dividers between some of the pairs of stools from when women weren't allowed to drink (but did). There a decent selection of Irish and Scotch whiskies. And the bartender told me that most bars purchase Guiness in concentrate then add water. They don't. They get their Guiness with the good old Irish water. Great service too.

Stone Street is the place to be for Friday after work drinks. Ulysses has a lot of allocated outdoor seating- possibly the largest bar on the street. Large selection of beers priced at the typical $8 mark however, we would need to press the waiting staff each round where one of the beers were and sometimes they brought the wrong one. The place has got a lot of potential- maybe things run smoother on weekdays.

Ulysses is a very good restaurant for lunch. They offer a carvery did you select the meats and sides. It is also a nice place for drinks after work. They have space indoors and out. I always find the service to be lacking at the tables, but fine at the bar.

Another place to have good food and good drinks in the Stone street. Friendly people, lots of good beer, fine burgers and a superb sea food risotto. What do you need more?

Visited this place back in 2018 and after 4 years nothing changed, there is still great food, nice atmosphere and very kind staff.

Always associate Irish bars with at least good music. Usually superb. Here the DJ played dreadful music. Enjoyable pint of IPA . We both had sausage and mash and we agreed the sausages were very tasty. As such happy cos we only came here to dine

Food and wait staff were real bad. Drinks on the other hand were great bartender too. We started in bar with some fabulous drinks, and then sat at a cramped table for dinner. We knew going in that this wasn't going to be the best meal, but how hard can it be to make pub food? Our food was cold over cooked and waitress was rude>

Great service and great food! Nice option to sit outside too! Would recommend and come here to eat and drink again for sure!

A good casual pub style restaurant with a wide selection of beers on tap. It can be a bit crowded at times but there is plenty on seating indoor and out.

With great Happy Hour. We had Oysters and Guiness...for HH. Historic street of NYC... Great service. Great fun atmosphere. Laid Back. A must experience. Great prices...

Stopped in for a late lunch as it was convenient. Turned out to be my kind of place and somewhat reminds me of the pubs in Ireland....good pub food and lots of brews from which to choose. Good service and on my list for a return visit. You will like it.

Had an excellent dinner here with my wife last night. Service was outstanding and food was excellent, prices reasonable. Eat outside or in, very nice casual atmosphere. Definitely adding this to my favorites list. Highly recommended.

If you're walking around the financial district, Stone Street isn't that far away and you can easily enjoy a lunch or dinner at Ulysses. The food isn't that great, keeping in mind the price. It's definitely okay for an ordinary snack, but it's nothing too special.

This place had a very good vibe, and was lively when we arrived late on a Saturday night. We we served quickly (but 8 dollars a beer, seemed a little pricey). We found a seat without any problem. The only downside was the music. The bar is next door to a live room, and they play the Live music through the PA. this meant that you got only the guitars and vocals. This would be okay if the band were incredible. Unfortunately, the singer seemed determined to butcher every song I've ever loved. What made it worse, is that they were called the "Brit Pack" and I fear may have done irreparable damage to the Reputation of British music.

Looking around the places on Stone Street, I saw that Ulysses had a special (Monday) of lobster for $18.50; a good deal anywhere, but especially in NYC. Sat outside and had a few beers, the restaurant has a decent selection. The lobster came out, holding an ear of corn and with a bake potato. Overall, very good. The service was a bit sketchy, particularly when i needed a second drink. Good meal at a great price.

Have been visiting Ulysses since I worked on Wall Street in 2008. The food is consistently good and the menu has a nice selection. I always tell friends this is the best place for lunch on a sunny day in NYC.

My wife and I went yesterday to Ulysses; we were there before (under a cruel conditions of the 2016's Winter time). This time it was surreal, beautiful, seating in a share bench and table with people who are most of them not tourists makes our dinner so special. we felt like be at home. obviously I will be back often.

Ulysses is a great place to have on your list near Wall Street . This is a good place to eat. They have many good things to choose from. They also have very nice bar . In the summer you can also sit out side on the street and eat .

This is such a nice place. The music was fantastic. I had the chicken Caesar salad, and the french onion soup was out of this world. I loved our waiter from London. They also had a great outside sitting area and it was cobblestone. I highly recommend it.

Great beer list. Fab band playing. You might need to grab the waitstaffs attention, but once they know you’re there, you won’t get forgotten. Busy & popular... because they’re good!

Had lunch and a couple pints here and the barge tender was awesome! Tried an Irish whiskey (single pot) upon recommendation from the bar tender who was obviously Irish and it was spectacular! He bought me a beer and a shot of a new brand of "single pot" whiskey which was out of this world. Cheers to to the bartender at Ulysses' for making this cajun boy feel welcome in the Big City!

Me and my husband were visiting the financial distract and sampling a few of the bars - we decided to try this place for a drink and lunch. The place was not busy and we wandered over to one of the high top tables near the window to be told that we couldn’t sit at that table as it was for 6 we were only 2 and we had to sit elsewhere. So we were put on a smaller table at the back of the room near the entrance to the kitchen. I asked if they were expecting it to be busy?! We were the last people to arrive during our time there and the only 4 other occupied tables (in the big bar room that holds at least 100 covers) left whilst we were there, leaving us the only table in the room to have lunch, stuck at the back of the room near the entrance to the kitchen - not sure why we were stuck there when the place was empty. I can understand the bar not wanting us to occupy a larger table if it was busy but the place was empty and we arrived at 13.30 well after any anticipated lunchtime rush ! The food we had was average bar food which was ok , I had to ask twice for vinegar for my fries which never arrived. Even though the hosts were not busy standing round chatting to one another. The water I asked for with my beer also never arrived. Overall not a great experience. I wish we had just walked out when we were shoved to another table and went back to the Dead Rabbit pub round the corner from where we had left. The service there was excellent and the food looked fabulous .... we decided to carry on to Ulysses given the good reviews but I wish we hadn’t bothered.

The food from the carvery was good. On a nice day it was enjoyable to eat outside in the street. Stone Street was set up with long tables and chairs.

Standard fare with loud music, average NYC prices. Service Ok, not special, just sufficient. Standard bar food.

We just happened in to this restaurant, were we lucky! Great food, great value, great ambiance! We had lobster rolls and beer for $15 on Tuesday night, that was their special..a great deal!

The service was completely fine until the barman shout “don’t f*cking shout at me” at me because I was calling him. Truly that was a horrible moment, even at the most stressful time you don’t expect someone treat you like that.

was in pub for simple cupls beers and snaks waiter wasnt nice or attetion , food was so so , didnt has anything spesial to visit this place

This area doesn't have many pubs and bars to go to, so Ulysses is a welcome addition. Nice vibe, good for drinks and some dancing too.

We had dinner here on a snowy night in March. Service was attentive, the drink menu was fine, and the food was very good pub fare. We had salmon and mussels, and enjoyed them. We will return!

Great food, usually seating available inside or out - on the pricey side though! They have a good selection of food and new dishes everyday to keep it interesting.

This is a great little place around the area, if you're ever looking for a fun place to start or finish your night. Went there on a Sunday, and the service was great. Food was also better than your regular Pub.

Always end up here at least a couple of times when in NY. To be fair it's usually later in the evening for a few beers. I have however eaten there a number of times and food has always been good. The 'Lobster Monday' goes down well. There's a good atmosphere, and if you like a bit of dancing and loud music then you'll probably like Ulysses!

Great way to end a day visiting Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The service was quick, the food was delicious and and all in a fun atmosphere, outdoors on a cobbled stone street.

While searching for a dinner restaurant on Monday, Memorial Day, we came upon Ulysses lobster night which was offering a whole lobster, baked potato and corn on the cob for $18.99. The weather was perfect for sitting outside and enjoying our meal with a couple cold drinks. Service was great and dinner was delicious! We will certainly dine there again on our next visit to NYC!

We chose to sit outside during the nice summer weather. Upon taking our order, the waitress proceeded to demand a credit card "to open a tab". She took the card and disappeared with it, after which it was held in some unknown location the entire evening until we finished the meal, a practice which opens it up for theft, skimming, and any other form of fraud. Would never visit this establishment again. Other than that, the food was badly overpriced and mediocre.

3/19/17 Great place for food and drinks. Snacked on chicken tenders and french fries. Outstanding interior, several seating areas (cubbies) added to atmosphere. Lively bar with entertainment. A definite go to bar/restaurant.

Great spot in NYC . The craic here is 90 . The music room is great and atmosphere fantastic. Food very nice and servers very polite and always smiling. Well done Ulysses . Worth a visit for a bite to eat , followed by some Guinness and a tasty burger meal.

I called earlier this week to see if the pub would be open early and if reservations could be made for a table following the NYC half marathon. They said the place was opening early for the event but that no reservations were being taken, first come first served. I got there at 9:15 a.m. and secured a table with no "reserved" sign on it for our running group and they quickly settled in. We numbered about 16 people and made room for others as well. At 11 a.m. as our celebration continued in full swing, a manager and hostess with a clipboard officiously approached us to say that the table was reserved and we'd have to give it up and move elsewhere in this by now packed establishment. I related that I had been told on the phone that they were not accepting reservations for this event, that we had been there since 9:15 (in plain sight of the front door, mind you),and there was no "reserved" sign on the table (not that I expected one, given what I had been told on the phone). The manager insisted that, indeed, they had accepted reservations weeks ago but had run out of reserved signs!!!? The lameness of his answer suggests we would be better off next time at the Full Shilling down the block where they know how to respond to phone inquiries and how to treat their patrons. Just to be clear, the bar staff was great, the management was not.

On our first night in NYC we chose this pub as it was the only place in the neighbourhood - the financial district - where we could eat till 2am. We found great (and loud) music, great food (I recommend the mini burgers), incredibly friendly people (which includes both staff and other customers) and... a great, NYC-style atmosphere!

I arrived in New York late, and by the time I got to my FiDi hotel it was past midnight on a Sunday. Luckily Ulysses was close by and the kitchen was open until 3am. I had a tasty Club sandwich and a cold crisp glass of apple cider at the big friendly bar. Made me happy.

We randomly found this bar on our first night in New York. The drinks were strong, the service was good, and the music was the best mix of 2000s pop and r&b. I did not eat here, but I will definitely be going back.

Great place to meet with friends. Everything was so delicious! Best buffalo wings in my life. However staff was very slow :(

I stumbled (literally) into this bar while searching for live music on my first night in the city. The bar was almost packed, but I didn't feel like I was an "outsider" or not part of the scene. Nicely laid out with a great selection of draught beers and other libations. As part of the Stone Street historic district this is one of a number of great pubs and restaurants very close to Battery Park (and in the middle of the financial district). Highly recommended if you find yourself in the area looking for a nice place to socialize, listen to live music, and enjoy a cold drink.

Staff, food, and drinks were fantastic. Although the noise/music level was above my preference, most of the patrons seemed to be enjoying it. Our beers were tasty and well-poured. We ordered bangers & mash and fish & chips, and the meats were some of the best I've had (the potatoes were good too, but the meat was a standout). And the staff were great, especially the host/doorman, who went out of his way to make sure we had a good experience (including noticing that we were having a hard time outside and offered to relocate us inside).

This is located on stone street. If you are coming for the carvery type food they only have that for lunch Mon - Fri no nights or wknds. We were here on the weekend so I couldn't try the carvery instead we tried the Shepard Pie, Shrimp Pasta and Turkey Club. They all looked as good as they tasted.

My daughter and stumbled upon this gem a couple of days after the blizzard. Wonderful service, cozy with a big bar and a great casual menu! Food was delicious, service was outstanding, quick and seamless. Great place to grab dinner if you are downtown!

Visited with numerous friends, some in town for business. The whole area is fantastic with the closed off cobblestone street and outside tables, for multiple adjoining bars, but our service from two different waitresses was really poor.

even being from Indiana I found Ulysses to be a feasible location for a Friday night dinner with my wife and her friend. The atmosphere is great, beer selection is good and the food was on point

we had a great time this afternoon on Stone Street, at the local hot spot, Ulysses. the hospitality, was warm, and welcoming, as usual. we enjoyed delicious Irish breakfast, and a few pints of Guinness. the food was fresh, and tasty, the service, friendly, and efficient, and the atmosphere, bustling. always enjoy the hospitality here, on the oldest street in New York. Will return. Highly recommend.

Used TA to locate a decent bar when we visited Wall St and did this one turn out to be a gem. It was a Sunday middayish and the bar was not very busy although when you went into the restaurant area, it was thriving. Great deal on food 20 dollars for an all you can eat brunch and 10 for the kids, good staff that are there when you needed them and great choice of beers. Wine however did come in a little expensive at 10 dollars for a medium glass. Great atmosphere and a steady trickle of people coming through. The food was probably the better end of our NY experience. Would certainly go again

Been here twice and both times the food wasn't good and low food quality. We had no choice but to eat here late Friday night near Wall Street. Will try to avoid next time if I can.

Good bar to go with friends. They had a good band for saint Patrick's day. It was crowded but very fun. Nice place to be outside too. Mainly for summer. It is located downtown - south ferry.

We visited during the day of U.S Women’s Soccer parade. Although area was very busy, service and food was fantastic. Manager was very accommodating and made our family experience a very positive one. We’ll be back when we’re in NYC!

Had delayed flight from Atlanta so didn’t arrive in Wall Street/Water St intersection till 10.45. O Donohoe’s had stopped serving food but recommended Ulysses. Although music was very loud with resident DJ, the burger was actually excellent and the IPA was decent. A good find.

This bar/restaurant has a wonderful array of both lighter fare and standard entrees, and is thankfully open late. It's centrally located in the Financial District and is easily accessible. The nachos and the shepherd's pie were delicious, as was their hot hard cider (made with rum).

We popped in for a snack on a Friday afternoon. Good service, great choice of food and drink. Would definitely recommend.

We had drinks at the Ulysses tables on Stone Street. This small cobblestone street is filled with tables and sun umbrellas provided by the numerous pubs and restaurants that open onto the street. It is a great place to have a drink in the sun and absorb the atmosphere generated by fellow travellers having a good time.

We were looking for a good dinner in deserted lower Manhattan on December 14 and decided to give Ulysses a try. After reading a number of negative reviews our expectations were not too high. Frankly, we were surprised with how good our meals were. We both ordered the $20 prime rib dinner and the cut of prime rib on one meal could have easily fed the both of us. The prime rib was cooked properly and the service was good. Understand, the meal was not amazing, but it was good and we would return again. The vegetables were slightly overcooked and the popover was the consistency of a hockey puck! The mammoth prime rib, yummy mac and cheese and excellent beer on tap, all more than made up for these minor failures.

Was there this past Monday while walking around wallstreet. Walked through a large seated area between many restaurants. Nice crowd. Stopped here to eat. It was a little muggy so we ate inside. Lobster special for $19 was the ticket. Nice service, nice location. Lobster was fantastic. Would go back in a heart beat.

great mix of people and range of drinks, popped in here for a drink most nights of our visit to New York and had a great time each time. Staff are happy characters and efficient. Pop in, you'll have fun.

This was our favorite bar in the Stone Street area. Kept going back. Friendly bartenders and awesome ambiance. Ir wasn't too crowded, which we like.

a fun atmosphere. Especially in the summer with outdoor tables on this cobblestone road lined with bars and outdoor tables. It's sort of a marketplace of bars. Get their calamari. It's very well done (although as a New Englander I missed the pepperoncinis, but it was still good. Not greasy and very flavorful. they have a fun cocktails menu too.

Dropped in here for a beer with my friend. It was the weekend, so the place was pretty empty. I love it though. Good selection of craft brews to pick from, friendly staff and the prices were ok.

We were working in the area and found Stone Street-Just at noon time. Ulysses was bright and welcoming and didn't mind we were coming in before 12 like another pub we tried to enter. Sat us at a table of our choice and we ordered after a short time. The Chicken Pot Pie was Amazing! Fresh herbs and the flakiest pastry on top. Can't believe I ate the whole thing! My husband had a burger and said it was very good. Mentioned we had to get back to work and they promptly brought the check so we could get back. Staff was very attentive and cleaned up as we finished. Would go again if in the city and that area! looks like a great place for the evening !

Was an ok place to have a drink and eat. Was packed solid every night - service good. Expensive. There is a space outside to sit with heaters. Music was excellent.

I was looking for a Monday Lobster Special when I came across on Google some top spots for this, well I was impressed by the decor early Pink Floyd Stones and my favorite photo of the Beatles all done in near life size wood splashed with paint type of artistry.Enough said the Lobster & Swithwick's Beer (English Bar)they have Live music some Traditional (Irish)and looks to be an Americana music scene too,,surprizing that that spot near the East River(Pearl St.)area as a pretty cool party scene,I didn't try any other food or drink (also not really attentive wait staff) but It was Monday Lobster night & that was what they knew we came for!

It's a great place for a drink (not a first date though) and the food is really good. The crowd can vary depending on the day or time. You will mostly find wall Streeters or locals hitting the place up. If you are downtown and need a place to go totally check it out.

I popped in the other night and had a great time. It was random too. Simon is the man!!!!! Definitely a Kool spot to go in & chill. Open late too! Not too many places are open late since covid. I appreciate them being open at the time I went in and cheers to Simon!!

The food was average. One of us had the hamburger and I had the sheperd's pie. Service was good. Eating outside is NOT an option if you are a non-smoker.

We were looking for a place with outdoor seating. This place was great. Because of the tall buildings surrounding the restaurat we had plenty of shade. We ordered buffalo wings which were delicious, mozarella sticks which were great and hamburgers that everyone enjoyed.

We called in here for a beer and had an enjoyable time, great atmosphere if hit and miss service. Great location on Stone Street.

We stopped in to grab lunch and a beer and it was so dark and cozy the kind of place you could just sit in for hours and talk and not want to move. The lunch buffet was excellent and the pulled pork and mac n cheese was amazing. My boyfriend and I each had a dark beer. We left and came back later in the evening and there was an excellent cover band playing - one of the best I have ever heard. We live in Sarasota so cover bands are something I am very familiar with but this one rocked the house! Definitely a place with a changing atmosphere. Warm and cozy during the day with a real Irish feel and then bar like at night The next day was mothers day so its a very versatile place as they were having a brunch. There is out side seating outback on the cobblestone. Just a beautiful place. I would highly recommend this place and its sister restaurant to anyone.

We ate here one Sunday night with a group of 6 friends while visiting in NYC. They had Sunday night specials, both a seafood and prime rib option which were good values. The food was good, not overly expensive, large portions. My only complaint was that our server was rude.

Brought out-of-town colleagues for lunch and the food and waitstaff was SUPERB. Couldn't find anything to complain about. Come dinnertime, it was a COMPLETE OPPOSITE EXPERIENCE. No longer in business attire, we were treated like absolute pariahs. I'm used to second class treatment for being a minority, but this visit was a third class treatment! We were seated in an area next to the waitstaff and hostess station with a raised banister enclosing us in a pen. To get anywhere, we must walk past the staff. Upon being seated, we were asked for our beverages. Nobody came by for a good 5 minutes and we then had to again remind another waitress. This time we were told to hand over a credit card to start a bar tab. I told her I was not ordering anything alcoholic nor are we seated on the outdoor tables, but she insisted on holding my credit card before we can place our dinner orders. At this time, I started to begin thinking of worst case scenarios. The manager said it was to discourage dine and dash. I told them (1) we could not have rushed out past the waitstaff station without paying and (2) they are asking me to give the establishment my permission for fraudulent credit card activity. Possessing my card while I was dining, the staff could have made copies of my credit card numbers for use at a later date. I was not happy about this. When the busboy came out delivering our dinner plates, our beverages did not even arrive, let alone our cutlery and condiments. After biting into the lobster roll, I noticed the lobster salad mix had a funny texture with smaller bits like crab. We asked the manager on the contents. Without checking with the kitchen staff, they said no crabmeat in their lobster roll. Just to be clear, I am allergic to crab (iodine sensitivity) but not to other seafood. Needless to say, I developed allergic rashes and hives all over my body 2 hours after leaving the restaurant. In other words, THE MANAGERS LIED ABOUT THE FOOD INGREDIENTS. Their lobster roll is either cross contaminated with crab meat leftovers (there was also crabcake on that night's menu special) or there was deliberate addition of crab into the roll. The way I see it, the weeknight waitstaff and management are poorly trained. They do not know the contents of the food they serve, nor do they pay attention to their customers (nowhere to be seen after taking our dinner orders). If other customers ate and walked away without paying, the waitress should pay out of their pockets because they should have kept an eye on the tables they serve. The managers are equally useless because they did not identify the problems early on to mitigate potential medical emergencies. I could have ended up in the hospital that night! If the owner(s) and/or management is reading this, please address the issues I raised. I would hate to see years of my repeat business go down the drain by a string of bad experiences.

We ate here one lunchtime - the sun was shining and we dined outside at a trestle table on the Cobbles of beautiful Stone St - a historical part of the financial district. They do a lunchtime carvery which you go inside to order and are served at the counter - we had the brisket which was delicious washed down with one of their ales - perfect.

The area was a great find! Neat variety of restaurants in a row. We walked by earlier when it wasn't crowded at all and secretly regretted that we didn't eat then because it got super busy around lunch time! We ate anyway and it was enjoyable. We both had burgers with fries...we think it was good but not extraordinary/out of this world burgers. Price was decent (for New York) and service was great.

Unfortunately the choices in the Financial District are many for the services this place provides, First tip off was a terrible pour of a Guinness & mediocre service... TGIF Fridays does a better job, so keep walking

I was there with co workers for a few drinks and food. we ordered the sliders and french fries.. The sliders were cold. The cheese wasn't even melted on top. That was cold too. The beer was fine. Nothing special typical every day beers. The place has a nice atmosphere. It is very large inside. The female Blonde bartender was not very attentive or nice. Theres so many bars in that area that are so much better..

This was a 5 star dinner with an Irish folk style. The beer was excellent and unique match. Great find for business or pleasure

Can be found on the well-known Stone Street, and is a great place for drinks! The decor is unique, the staff was super nice, and the drinks were excellent. They have live music on the weekends, but didn’t personally experience it. A fun spot if looking for a night out away from tourist traps!

Had lunch here twice and was excellent both times. Quick friendly service, great selection of drinks and some proper English tea (with milk!) Next time I am in New York, I would definitely go back.

The atmosphere is tops -- narrow, cobblestone street in the financial district. The burger seemed basic. My gyro (okay, my choice) was fine, if pricey, though not by NYC standards. My child's pasta tasted yummy -- cheesy marinara sauce. Not fettucine, but penne when served, and keep in mind this matters to a kid. Wait service was haphazard.

Visited last summer and on our way back from the Statue of Liberty we drop in for a few beers. Large Carlsberg and Bud Light and $8 a beer a bit steep. Anyhow that aside we enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere. Visited YB 07/09/16 NYC Statue Liberty Day.

Great pub with honest good American food. Whole area of Stone Street is worth a visit. Thanks for Angel at the bar who recommended the pub and looked after us so well on our visit.

The corned beef is so juicy and fall off the bone tender at Ulysses. When I want fish and chips, Ulysses is where I go. Inside the atmosphere is large Irish pub, and outdoor seating is great when the weather is good. I really enjoy this place!

Great place for lunch or dinner. We had lunch here and you got to choose from a carvery. I had the brisket sandwich and my husband had BBQ ribs, absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. You can choose to sit inside or out, but it was a very hot day so we sat outside and watched people go about their business. You won't be disappointed.

Stopped in while passing for a few drinks as it seemed to be lively inside, ordered 2 beers paid with a $50 given change of $20. Waited for 10 minutes for the same bartender to come back, (she was operations in the area of the bar I was standing in front of) It seemed as if she was avoiding me and then when finally I got her attention 'oh you gave me a $50 wasn't it' a little too quickly for it to be a complete accident. Then again maybe it was. I won't be returning though.

As another user described it, the food is fair, but it's nothing special. The setting is nice: old Irish pub. It is pricey for what you're getting. We had a shepherd's pie and a chili with Hot Toddy and Spiked Cider cocktails (the best part of the lunch! :). Again, everything was just ok. - nothing to write home about. If you're in need of a break from walking and want to warm yourself up, it is a better choice than a fast-food restaurant.

Visited on several occasions with staff members, coworkers, friends and family whenever they come downtown. It’s your regular lunch menu with chicken wings, sandwiches and all. The food is good and the place has enough space to hold large groups. You can sit outside when the weather permits. Everything we had so far was good. They provide swift services despite lunch hour crowd. The ambience is very nice on Stone Street. Give it a try and when on Stone streets, there are other spots you can visit as well.

Went into Ulysses for a late dinner. In an awesome part of the financial district, very historic. Lots of younger crowd around and lots of finacial types. Bar/pub was loud and very dark. Eating was a little difficult with the lighting but I made it work. Started with their light spring roles with spicy dipping sauce, follwed by their popular fish n chips. Was not dissapointed. Will return and bring friends next time.

We were told we have to eat here while we are in New York. I guess I am lucky and know what good food is, what a good atmosphere is like, and when service is good. Neither of those things were good at Ulysses. I had a carved lunch and was not impressed with any of the food.

Dropped by for a drink whilst passing. Lovely street and setting for outdoor drinking, dining. Ordered two draft beers and bit pricey. Sitting outside the beer was watery and tasteless. When we flag it to the server he laughs it off and says it is because we need to order something stronger! Dismissive, no tips on offer so not interested. We drink up and leave. We drink up and leave, great service. Visited June 21 2015. YB

This place has a perfect location. It is nice for a get together after work, with friends, co-workers, or "just-a-quick-drink" type of visit. I loved the atmosphere and the location. Food was tasty and the waitress was good, always around and always checking her clients. However, the place was not busy when we got there (about 5:20 PM). Before sitting, I order a beer at the bar and had to wait 20 minutes for a draft beer. Then, when paying the bill, we had about $65.00 in extra charges that we did not consume. Thanks to one of my friends that saw the mistake. We told the waitress and she corrected it without any problem. Otherwise, great place to go!

a busy Friday evening happy hour main bar very busy and active . found a spot at the side bar which was what I wanted crowded but comfortable. Bartenders were great. very attentive looked out for my spot when I had to get up. a vibrant mixed crowd mostly young professionals though. Drinks and appetizers well priced. for a busy time in a busy neighborhood was made to feel I was at a local pub.

Great drinks and ambiance. Love this street! The food looked (and smelled!) delicious but we didn't eat. Just happened to stumble upon it (not literally, although we probably did stumble out a little) for an afternoon cocktail-glad we did.

Great pub to grab a drink and some bar bites after work. They also have a restaurant section which is surprisingly good. Don't get me wrong, their bar bites are the best - sliders, pretzels, etc. but they also offer real meals for which I am giving the five stars. Their steak and mash is delicious and so is their lobster.

big disappointment. waitstaff were uninterested and the place just didnt have a welcoming feel. Slim selection of beers and I don't see how they stay in business.

Great pub and music on New Year’s Eve. Thanks for the special drinks 🍸 at midnight. Service was great for the crowding party 🎉

We enjoyed our Sunday brunch at Ulysses. The buffet had many choices including 3 carved meats and the choice sides. Breakfast offerings included eggs benedict, pancakes, bacon, sausage, and coconut french toast. There were also several salads, cheeses, salmon, shrimp cocktail, and oysters. Several dessert choices were available to satisfy one's sweet tooth. A great deal at $19.95. Several drink specials for $5. Service was friendly. There is seating inside as well as outside on scenic Stone street.

Background: Weekend lunch with coworkers. Location: Kinda off the beaten path (especially for a weekend). Surrounded by cobblestone streets, just off of the heart of wall Street. The Staff: Very professional and personable. Since their not in a very busy area during weekend afternoons they were light staffed. The Bar: Bar counters everywhere. Seating is a bit of an odd layout, and can be a bit of a challenge finding your party, even when the place is empty. Typical selection of whiskeys for a city bar. It is obvious that this place gets packed during the weekends. The Food: Menu is that of a typical American pub. Pricing is a bit on the high end even for NYC. All the food which was ordered was excellent. All in all, if I'm in this area again I'd come back, otherwise I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Found my way to Ulysses during a quick trip to NYC. Quiet Sunday evening (Colombus Day holiday) and was quickly shown to a table of choice. Enjoyed a very fresh piece of salmon over a corn risotto. Service was efficient and friendly.

Great place, the steak sandwich is excellent! Really great calamari. Even better during the warm months when you can sit outside. A bit pricey outside of their happy hour/discount menu.

Good for beer and snack. Stake I ordered was like a rubber. This is not actually stake meat as I can judge. Beer is good enough. Atmosphere is fine enough. Стейк оказался как резина. Пиво очень ничего. Есть музыка в баре, так любители потанцевать будут довольны

Was in NYC only for the weekend, but couldn't miss eating at my favorite Irish Pub in the city. What a better place to go on a cold day for lunch, just needed comfort food and they have plenty to choose from. Besides the great food and beer, the place is cozy, lots of wood and impressive decor with photos of early Stones, Beatles, James Joyce. They also have a very nice bar. My visit was close to St Patrick's Day but not quite on that Day, they were having a bash, so sorry I missed it. The service was impeccable! I shall return

Can't say much beyond the title of the review, really. Ulysses was recommended by our concierge, and we were seated immediately upon arrival and given menus. And that is as far as it got. No server ever acknowledged us, the maitre'd never looked in on us, and after about 15 minutes we simply walked to one of the other nearby establishments at which we received good service and hearty meals. Given that this place is on a street that is literally lined both sides with restaurants, and that this was on a very non-busy Sunday night, there is really no excuse for lousy non-service.

Great place to hangout with co-workers or friends. I have spent many evenings here and the staff is always friendly and attentive to my bar needs.

My son is a college student at King's College in Financial District. He likes to go to the restaurants on Stone Street and this is his favorite. If you like 80s rock this is a great atmosphere. The food is good and not too pricey. Can see why my son likes it.

We were staying nearby in the financial district and a local suggested we head to the area for lunch. It was a nice sunny day, so lots of tables laid out on the cobbled street, felt more like Europe than NYC Financial District. Service was incredibly prompt. My other half ordered the burger and I had a fresh tuna steak from the buffet. My tuna was great and for the portion size I thought it was exceptional value for money. When we finished it was a lot busier so service waned somewhat.

We went on a Sunday, and arrived mid day. We were able to get the Sunday Brunch. The corned beef was excellent and the Salmon was ok. Seemed to have a lot of butter in the same and also the vegetables. Wait staff was pleasant, and kind.
Fun live music and late night food
My BFF and I found Ulysses while looking for food late one night. It's a fun dark bar with a DJ and live music. The late menu is limited but the food was good. Great choices for beer and mixed drinks. Our second night here there was a live band that had the place gyrating and thumping with a fever that you can only find in NYC. The bar is filled with mostly locals. I will visit again next time I'm in NYC.
