Dress code and pretentious people :(

One night we were not "dressed" appropriately. The next night it was booked for a private event. Do not count on the rooftop as part of your hotel experience.

Classy but not Stuffy

By dvorac4 |

We love the Upstairs Rooftop Bar at the Kimberly. It is a glass ceiling and wall enclosed rooftop space; the walls and ceiling open during good weather. It is a lovely place to relax with a very good (and relatively affordable) glass of wine or a martini to admire the Chrysler Building at night with a loved one. There are DJ's at night and a small space for dancing, which is fun. Service is busy but professional; sometimes there is a wait, but not too bad. This is a high quality, classy spot with great views and yet not the stuffy feel or the "we're too good for you" vibe that you find in other NYC places in midtown. Highly recommend,

Beautiful view

Tasty food, solid cocktails. I preferred the early evening when it was more quiet. Breakfast buffet was excellent.

Loved this rooftop bar! Beautiful, fun and festive! Loved the music and the crowd. Will go again next time we are in New York

Excellent food!

There is something for everyone's breakfast desire. The food is excellent as well as the service and views!

Great Rooftop

By fedar |

Waking up in the morning and going all the way up to the 30th floor for breakfast was a real treat!!

excellent choice for a drink with view and some food

By Monpetit |

the view is terrific, the drink options perfect. and what they offer for diner is very good... the octopus is just grilled as you want, the cheese plate perfect and the shrimps also. Good dessert. and it seems less croweded this year.

Great breakfast with great views

By HRHmum |

We had breakfast here and the atrium was closed up to give a greenhouse feeling which was warm and inviting on a chilly morning. Also being closed, kept out some of the street noise. We had come up here the evening before and the rooftop bar was open to the sky and just beautiful with views of the city lights. We opted for the breakfast buffet which was very good and the most economical choice since you got everything /anything for a set price of $29 which included the tax and tip. We had made to order omelets, there were my favorite fat, British liver sausages, grilled potatoes with peppers and onions, fresh fruits, pancakes, waffles, toast (including GF) juices, coffees and more. Leisurely and very enjoyable with pleasant service.

Poor service

By Traceyann |

This is a great bar over looking Manhattan , but staff are unfriendly and it seems an effort to serve you , but they expect and include a large tip on your bill .Would advise if you visit only pay tip you think they deserve not what they expect .Spoke to manager tonight regarding service we received as its a shame that the bar looses trade due to bad staff attitudes. Was quiet tonight for a Friday .

Popular place---crowded on the weekend

By activenretired |

This place was recommended to us as a great rooftop bar. It was vibrant, loud, and standing room only on a Friday night. They have a live DJ too. They were also getting ready to block off part of the area for a private party. The age demographic was more Millennial than Baby Boomer. It was a fun stop on our first evening in NYC.

Hotel breakfast is fantastic

By slkeck2421 |

Excellent view, food and service. We had breakfast, joined them for coffee hour, and also enjoyed the evening penthouse for drinks. All was outstanding

Awesome food and service

Love the upstairs restaurant at the Kimberly. Great view, great food, and great service. Really enjoy this part of staying here.

Beautifully decorated rooftop lounge

My husband and I enjoyed our evening here while we stayed at the hotel. There are great views all around, and some lovely wines.

New Years Eve

By susiewoof |

This was our second visit we did have a lovely time but compared to the previous time the service had deteriorated. On sitting down there was a rip in the couch but no tape was offered to cover it up, therefore the men of the group had to sit in that place. There was 7 in our party, table service - our waitress was serving 3 tables therefore didn’t have time for each table, she was very friendly, nice and trying her best. The food was delicious however we didn’t receive much, no deserts were offered. The waitress (food) who served us, with long hair looked like she would rather be anywhere but at the party:( DJ, Dancing and atmosphere perfect, decorated nicely. Unfortunately for us it’s time to try somewhere new.

delicious breakfast buffet.

By lovetotravel2229 |

The food was buffet style and offered lots of choices. The Omelettes were delicious. The staff was friendly and efficient. A great meal.

Best place to have a drink

Miri is simply the best, the staff is amazing and the views are breathtaking. Breakfast is served there as well.

Check before going

By ogerkan |

We have been by three times but have always been preempted by private parties. Will try again but don't venture over without calling first.

Excellent

By nywelshgirl |

For people not used to NYC prices, they might find it expensive. They only serve appetizers, but they are really delicious ... at least the 7 I tried, and very good cocktails. Great views.

Brunch/lunch before we leave

By Andrea S |

Lovely view from the Penthouse and a great place to relax before we head to the airport. Food really tasty and service great. Most of the rooftop is permanently covered and then part of it is open to the elements but just drinks out in that part.

Great Views great food

By geofferys169 |

We took the time to have a date night while on vacation and this place didn't disappoint. It was a special time made even better by the ambiance of this place. A must do for adults while in NYC.

Go for The View

By Jayne H |

After we left our holiday party near Rockefeller Center we walked to the Kimberly Hotel to have cocktails Upstairs. The view did not disappoint. Our specialty cocktails were very good. The food was not that special. The atmosphere was a bit cold and the service was too.

Awesome rooftop in Midtown East

By Adrienne C |

Upstairs has amazing views of the Chrysler Building and midtown Manhattan. We lucked out to see the sky turn beautiful shades of pink and blue as we overlooked the East River. The spot also has fun, creative drinks

Great brunch on weekends

Love the Kimberly and their rooftop brunch is fun and great, eggs your way, pancakes, waffles, well name it, it's there. $30 ea, lovely views

Always Very Good

By Appealing56 |

Repeat visit after repeat visit this location never fails to impress. Great drinks and great food consistently on tap. Friendly and accommodating staff. Magnificent views of Manhattan, especially the Chrysler Building. Not to be missed.

Night out

By nonhlanhla x |

Didn’t really take pics on the balcony bcoz there were ppl by the ledge eating So I didn’t want to disturb, but the Chrysler building lights were pretty. And a beautiful thing happened that night, someone got proposed to! Absolutely beautiful.. 😍 Anyways the hotel has a beautiful lobby and elevator. The rooftop is pretty, But , I came there to dine since it’s covid times u can’t just buy drinks and I was ok with having to dine so I came hungry bcoz looking at the menu prior to arriving, they had lamb chops, my fav. But the day we were there , there was no lamb chops and they didn’t have the beer we drank. They had corona but it was corona light, they didn’t have Heineken either. Just other brands we didn’t know. And we ordered calamari which was sooo salty I couldn’t even eat more than 3. I should have sent it back but also as a waitress I would have preferred that she be attentive to see that was the only dish untouched even at clearing the table . I will be going back in a week so we shall see how this trip turns out. It was a good time tho with a Lounge feel since we haven’t been to the club in so long , it was nice to be in a place with music and happy ppl .

Great Breakfast Buffet

By Cooltexan |

Our room rate at the Kimberly included a free breakfast buffet for 2 for each of the 4 nights we were there. The breakfast is very good with an omelet station, pancakes, bacon, sausage, rolls, fresh fruit etc. Go for it and you will be full until dinner.

Scarce breakfast menu, sluggish service, not really a terrace

By RGSOUNDF |

The breakfast menu is not featured on Upstairs website (only brunch and dinner menus are available online), and no wonder, for the choices are extremely scarce. The buffet option is limited too, very few sides and very few omelette options. The service was very sluggish, the food mediocre, offering lukewarm potatoes. The view is your average Midtown view, but the area is completely enclosed. The Terrace Club on the nearby 51st Street offers a much more enjoyable unobstructed view with no glass barrier.

Kimberly

By Wayne H |

Good food, Nice atmosphere. good service. A very nice to place to meet and dine with friends or just sit around for drinks.

The atmosphere was nice

By kmmyangl |

The atmosphere was nice but there was a foul odor. Also the grapes were overripe. The cheese on the cheese platter was delicious. And the crab cakes were good. The cocktails were very pricey but tasty.

Hot Spot for Evening

By Barbara S |

We loved going to the rooftop bar and restaurant. We went to the bar in the evenings and the outside area is wonderful. The fireplace was lit and the night view was breathtaking. The place was really hopping with young professionals every night of our trip. We also had breakfast in the restaurant each morning and it was delicious.

Attitude of Staff

By Philip S |

Popped to have a cocktail before moving on for a meal and to experience the roof top atmosphere. Lovely place just a shame about the staff especially Sophia who served us. She was very rude, got our order of 4 cocktails wrong and then blamed us for it!

Great View, Average Breakfast Buffet

By JoelKrugler |

We had the breakfast buffet at the Upstairs twice - mainly because we had our 10 year old grandson with us and he ADORED the views. The view is well worth the visit. The breakfast? Not bad, but far from remarkable and not cheap (around $25 as I recall).

Gorgeous Views of the City!

By moniquethecritique |

Love this place! Spacious and comfortable, with fantastic City views. Some open air dining in warm weather. Nice breakfasts, and fun tapas/cocktail offerings in the evening. Discovered 'black anisette' never knew it existed, and is fantastic. No espresso required! They have Sunday brunch, and music on weekends, but since I was there on a weekday, could not explore. There will be a next time!

Great Rooftop Bar

By MJL |

A great little rooftop bar offering some great drinks and tasty snacks, not usually a super busy place so good for couples

Enjoyable Breakfast

By suecast |

Great space overlooking the city. Love being able to look out while eating, and having part of the roof/wall open for some fresh air. Food is good, but I miss the pre-covid breakfast buffets. Hopefully the buffet will come back one day.

Amazing site for a Wedding

By Mamasue1NewYork |

Words cannot express the beautiful and magical wedding we had at Upstairs July 2nd. The food was delicious and plentiful. We had 86 guests who were seated quite comfortably and treated, quite honestly, like royalty. I cannot say enough good things about the Events Mgr. Jordana and the staff. They were efficient and professional and only let loose a little at the end upon our insistence. Their attention to detail was exceptional. (Yes, we noticed little things you took care of, thank you) If you are thinking of hosting a wedding in NYC, Upstairs is the place, you will not be disappointed.

Excellent feel with the window walls.

By mrsjameseb |

Our breakfast was delicious. We loved being able to see out on three sides. The wait staff was very helpful.

Great view, eat before you get there.

By HelenPaul950 |

Don't get me wrong - this is a lovely spot to sit back with friends, enjoy a couple drinks and enjoy ...... an amazing view. The small plates are limited and a bit uninspiring but we went for the atmosphere and ....the view. Service was inattentive to the point we had to chase her for everything, including settling the bill but we were there for ... the view.

Great drinks

By Cate M |

We stayed in the hotel and stopped by the rooftop bar at 4pm and back around 9pm - both experiences were wonderful! The drinks were very good and the view is of course amazing!

Great bar & local view in Mid Manhattan

By Blacksquidie |

Found this awesome view bar as nearby our hotel...a great surprise Had been snowing and we went upstairs to the rooftop to super cocktails, enjoy the city views, and sit by the fire outside. Wonderful find in mid Manhattan

Worst experience during our NY holiday

By Sharon Parry |

Not suitable for Kimberley guests. It’s a corporate event space. Not a space to relax and unwind after a day of sightseeing. Hotel guests have to reserve a table, can’t just drop in. Oh, and even if you reserve a table, you may not actually get seated, as the corporate clients don’t always leave on time. Not one member of staff smiled or looked happy in their work. Aggressive reaction from server when my husband asked for water with no ice (he’s in recovery from pancreatic cancer, can’t drink alcohol)…. ‘What? Is that it?’ While leaning over the table, in a very confrontational manner. Explained re aggressive behaviour to next server, and we were then ignored for half an hour. At which point we made to leave, only to be followed by the aggressive server demanding we close the bill, requested to charge to our room, met with more aggressive attitude. We said we weren’t happy, and were going to complain at reception, the aggressive server said he’d come too, calling us scammers, and continuing with the aggressive attitude. I repeatedly asked him to stop talking as the elevator went down 30 floors, but he continued to berate us. Reception didn’t seem to know how to handle the situation, as he continued to be argumentative. This took the shine off our NY stay. Dreadful experience.

Great spot ~ fun beautiful big great service!

By Bearcat S |

When the weather is good this is the rooftop to hang in NYC's midtown. Decent prices - fantastic views - friendly staff - clean bathrooms - FUN FUN FUN unassuming but classy & chill.

Probable Health Code Violation

By MinnesotaBuffs |

My family & I stayed at the Kimberly Hotel for 5 nights in mid-September (it was a wonderful place to stay as far as the accommodations are concerned!), and on our final night there, my husband & I decided to check out the rooftop bar called "Upstairs at the Kimberly". It appeared to be a nice place, with comfy seating areas and an open-air atmosphere. The appearance of the bar is why I gave the bar an overall rating of 2 stars instead of only one star. The only seating available at the time was at the side counter of the bar, so we sat there and each ordered a drink. The drinks were $14 a piece, but we weren't overly surprised at the price, as we had come to expect such prices in NYC. The problem with this bar/restaurant is what I saw when I looked forward as the bartender proceeded to make our drinks. (from where we were sitting, we could plainly see behind the bar where the drinks are made.) There were at least 2 metal basins that were filled with ice. The bartender scooped ice from one of the basins to put in my glass and then made my vodka & tonic. I did not see her make my husband's drink. Right after she gave me my drink I just happened to see her make another drink for someone else. She scooped ice from the same basin she had used for my drink but then I noticed that she removed one of several bottles of wine from the same ice basin she had used to make my drink and the other drink she was making. The bottles of wine were actually sitting in the same ice she was using in the drinks she made! At this point I was thoroughly disgusted, so I decided to watch her further. I then saw her make a drink where she took ice from the second basin of ice only to see that she had a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi sitting in that basin. Again, the bottle of Pepsi was actually sitting in the same ice she used to make drinks! DISGUSTING! She handled money and then touched the outside of the Pepsi bottle and the wine bottles and placed these bottles directly in with the ice that is served to customers.(not to mention that the outside of the Pepsi and wine bottles were probably not clean to start with) I'm pretty sure this violates numerous restaurant/bar health and safety codes and is not a safe practice. I kept hoping I was missing something because surely the bar wouldn't want to risk making anyone sick, but as I continued to watch, I continued to see the bartender use ice for the drinks she made from the same 2 basins that also held the Pepsi bottle and the wine bottles. I even saw her at one point kind of mix up the ice as she returned a wine bottle to the ice to get the ice more evenly distributed around the bottle to keep it colder. We didn't stay very long, as I was totally disgusted by the whole thing. I left without drinking my cocktail - the $14 price tag was not worth drinking a beverage made with that tainted ice. The whole experience made me wonder if the bar and other restaurants at the Kimberly violate other food safety & health codes when preparing food. I would definitely stay at the Kimberly Hotel again but would definitely NOT return to the Upstairs at the Kimberly bar!

Great view, thats all

By Elena H |

Besides a great view not much else worth it. The service is mediocre and although the specialty cocktails are ok, the apperizers are very common.

Cool outdoor rooftop lounge in midtown

By FlyDog33 |

Take the tiny hotel elevator to the rooftop bar and enjoy some cocktails and the outdoor midtown views. Our company hosted a summer event here, and everyone had a good time despite the tight space.

Amazing atmosphere and great food

By Cass401 |

The roof opens and closes and has great views of New York . Great Breakfast buffet too and very friendly staff .

Above and beyond, pun intendsd

By Emma C |

Highly commend the security at the hotel for not only telling us there was a bit of a wait because of a private function but also recommending somewhere else we could go for a drink instead of waiting. When we came back, we still think this view was better than where we went! Could just count on the view but this place goes above that, a lovely cocktail (the Chrysler) and a nice atmosphere as everyone seemed quite merrily drunk (a sign drinks are that expensive which is great for rooftop NYC). Keep up the good work! Our last night in New York spent well.

Dinner and a nice view

By Ashley_NY_Bos |

The view was indeed wonderful and we had a large group of co-workers (some from abroad) so the terrace was an impressive location for pre-dinner drinks. We reserved a private room just inside for our dinner afterwards. When we first arrived to the terrace it felt a little unorganized and chaotic - but the terrace was busy and my party was large, so that maybe was to be expected. Service was good once we were seated for dinner, and one of our waitresses was really great. Everyone had a great time - atmosphere was nice.

The best rooftop

By Kukić F |

Wonderful rooftop to spend evening. Staff is really friendly, always around and available. Calm and peaceful with good music in background this rooftop offers beautiful sight.

Not great

By AZ_Margie |

It is a beautiful trendy spot full of beautiful young people - I'm one of the two. We had 1 drink each and 2 small plates (accent on small). Although very tasty, the 3 Kobe sliders were one bite each and the lobster dip was very small. Other Manhattan rooftop bars are priced the same but have better food and views. Only one slight view of the Chrysler building here. We went before dark, so maybe a view of the city lights would improve it. Service was slow. We chose this spot because it was our first night in Manhattan and it was a short walk to our hotel.

Views from the Kimberly

By Lynne C |

Wonderful city views from The Kimberly Hotel's 20th floor. A great place for evening cocktails. Fun. Business crowd.

Very nice breakfast buffet

By Steve M |

Professionally watered. Food, juices, coffee, NY Times … not much else to ask for. AND a 30th floor view!!

Breakfast Buffet

By Vikki P |

This restaurant is conveniently located on the penthouse level of the hotel my family resided at during our stay in NYC. We dined here one morning for breakfast and the view was amazing! The breakfast was the standard buffet setup ($29.95 for adults/$14.95 for children) and was billed to the room. It was tasty, though options were a bit limited. There was a omelet chef on hand, as well.

Pretty view, awful service

By Mar C |

Bartender was eager to shot down the bar at 10pm on a Sunday night even though there were many patrons. Don't understand.

Breakfast with a Great View

By Tyler L |

I had the buffet breakfast here each morning of my stay, and I found the food to be well prepared and the staff to be cordial and helpful.

Fun place for after dinner drinks

By Paulette M |

We were looking for a rooftop bar and this was recommended. It was great, the service was great the drinks were good as were the snacks we had. They have a smoking section for the cigar smokers in the group. The music is mixed and not so loud it annoys.

Great Views across Manhatten

By Peter S |

Excellent Breakfast Buffet. A little expensive ( but where isn't in Manhatten?). Very good choices of food and the man making the omelettes is a real perfectist, he wants his product to be exactly how you want it to be.

Go for the Views!

By Luxury Lifestyle TV |

We went for the brunch but stayed for the views! Not only is this space well appointed, but there's just something about a rooftop bar in NYC that leaves you wanting more. I could've sat here all day drinking coffee, working, enjoying the view and the lovely decor. If you can't make it for brunch, definitely stop by for happy hour before a night out on the town, you won't regret it.

Nice location

By Walter K |

Was here for a cocktail party. Place is very nice...service was very good and the food was delicious Would highly recommend

A cosy place in NY

By Martin M. Aarset |

This must be the cosiest rooftop bar there is in NY. My gf and I went here two times and both times we had tasty really cocktails. Great cocktails, great staff and service, great view, do you need more at a rooftop? And also: the place was not crowded, even om a saturday!:)

Fun atmosphere, great views, and luscious cocktails!

By David P |

In the afternoon, Upstairs is a great little place for a pre-dinner cocktail - it's quiet, comfortable and the service is great. Later in the evening, it's a little louder, and seems to draw a younger crowd. We were there several times and loved it every time. Plus, the view of the Chrysler Building is superb!

Dirty bar! Dont bother

By Pocket1berks |

Bar was dirty, had broken furniture and no atmosphere! the wine we ordered wasn’t available so offered a bottle of Prosecco at $65 it was warm and tasted awful! Still got charged for two glasses that we didn’t drink! No apology!

Nice Rooftop in NYC!

By Nayda M |

Nice ambiance, music is playing but not loud at all. Appetizers were delicious and drinks were delicious. They open at 5p. Also, you can host private events just contact the events manager

They did not honor our reservation

By Lillybabeytiktok |

My friend's dad made a reservation for her birthday for us. We got all dressed up ready to celebrate, only to be told that our reservation would not be honored because they had rented out the facility for a private party. WTF? Happy Birthday to you, too Kimberly Hotel

beautiful

By christine s |

We had breakfast there on our last day in new york. Beautiful , good service good food overall completely satisfied

Rooftop Bar a the Kimberly Hotel.

By RBryan1011 |

The wait staff and service at this restaurant are clueless and very inattentive. We asked for water and to have the tables cleaned on several occasions and this was never done. The teamwork of the wait service seems to be severely lacking. The waitresses are not the sharpest and they would bring the wrong drinks, no water, not pick up dishes off the table.

great vibe

By justin s |

so a last minute find but worth it good views good drinks and good service decent prices for new York, when the roof opens its even better.no faults here.

Nice Surprise

By Christina L |

The Upstairs Rooftop bar was just the icing on the cake in this lovely hotel. It was a nice gathering place to have a few cocktails with some colleagues. It was also a very nice place to meet with clients during the day while having a cup of coffee in the lounge. They do serve breakfast in this area. I will most definitely be coming back. In addition to the location, I cannot say enough nice things about the entire staff, very friendly and very accommodating.

Had drinks in the evening and brunch the next day

By Nancy S |

Rarely can you experience an establishment for late night drinks and brunch the next day and not feel as though one of them is the wrong venue. Upstairs at the Kimberly managed to be cool and fun for drinks, and bright and airy for brunch the next day. Bravo! The food at brunch was delicious and well prepared. The staff was helpful and attentive without being obtrusive. We will be back!

Lovely staff

By pamp0rtugal2004 |

Went up to the top the Kimberly alone but made to feel very welcome. It was jumping on the Saturday night and it was just lovely looking out and watching life happen. I would definitely visit again

NYE Party

By Brady H |

A small group of friends and I came here to celebrate NYE 2017/2018. We had the best time. Staff very helpful and friendly. Food was amazing (cocktail style) And we had bottle service from our table so no waiting at the bar or on drinks to arrive. We would all go back here again for a NYE party. Everyone was impressed. Fun night.

Overpriced and unfriendly

By emmaastan |

I came with a group of friends after numerous recommendations and suggestions for the view and the drinks. Firstly, you are sat in a conservatory so maybe it has more magic in the summer. Although we did manage a fab snap it wasn't quite the rooftop vibe that we were expecting. Cocktails were tepid and impressive with very little complex flavours like promised in the menu, and were $18. The worst of it was actually when we came to pay - the staff had been aloof throughout but when we accidentally tipped with change we were told this was unacceptable. We immediately fulfilled the balance (of a 20% tip which, without any attention or personality, felt like a lot already) and were then insulted on the way out as, when no dollar bills were visible, they assumed non payment. I would not expect this disrespectful attitude anywhere and when drinks and food are such a premium, you just expect more.

Excellent

By mthibodeaux |

We only ate there for breakfast. The food, view and experience was great! We will definitely return when we come back!

Great Service, good breakfast buffet!

By worldtravel1936 |

Omelette station, and impressive selection of fruits, pastries, french toast, waffles, pancakes, bacon, sausage, and potatoes. Coffee is smooth and several different juices available. Service is impeccable!

Lovely penthouse restaurant

By PITW2202 |

Great restaurant at the top of the Kimberly Hotel, lovely food and service. Staff are extremely attentive and courteous.

Just Perfect

By Glenda P |

Fantastic place to have a sunset cocktail with view of the Chrysler Building. Tables and chairs so I need to stand and share plates with things like guacamole, beef sliders and satay chicken. Very relaxed atmosphere and good service

Right around the corner from our hotel!

By Steven S |

The food and service was great! Loved it all! Wife and kids never been to a luncheonette! They loved the experience!

Wasn't our favourite

By 1WickedFaerie |

was the only place where the one server we had wasn't very friendly. The food was good but we did not love the area we were seated. We arrived late without a reservation so took what was available.

Wow that view

By Flamingo-z |

Very lovely and elegant bar/restaurant. The staff was very nice, always there when we needed. Huge plus for real wine glasses, not only plastic like in every other place.

Great food, amazing service

By Virginia Reynolds |

We booked Upstairs for a family party. What a view! Event manager Jordana walked us through the whole process of choosing a menu, bar, and a price to fit our budget. It was a totally wonderful experience. The food was divine, and it kept on coming! The service was so helpful, from helping us with decorations, to cake-cutting, to the champagne toast. The DJ was perfect--not too loud, but created exactly the right ambiance. I'd be delinquent if I didn't mention the Sunday brunch the following morning. You can't beat sipping your cocktail and dining on sumptuous Eggs Benedict with the Chrysler Building in the background. Highly recommend!

Mini Reunion

By TheSavvyTraveler |

Visited my friend who recommended this place. The view alone deserves 5 stars if you're into that sort of thing! The drink selection is good but super pricey! It's the perfect setting for a romantic date but I recommend coming with deep pockets because two drinks is already $40! The hotel is also very posh!

Great service, beautiful setting, good food!

By TBWendy |

Great service! Food was hot and good! Reasonably priced with great atmosphere!Just an overall good experience that I would recommend to any future diner that would like a beautiful setting. Great drinks! Perfect service!

Tasty tapas in a buzzing atmosphere.

By orlaith_palmer |

We ordered four tapas and they were huge, but delicious. I wish we had ordered just two as we couldn't eat it all. The cocktails were lovely and the atmosphere was buzzing. Staff were attentive and efficient with smiles. Loved it for a night with friends.

Great recommendation from our hotel staff

By JSD1986 |

We were staying at a hotel around the corner and we wanted to go to a rooftop bar. A staff member recommended we try the Kimberly. At first we only wanted drinks but we also ended up getting appetizers. Nice ambiance overall.

Great Space and Great Views

By Stuart S |

The Kimberly Upstairs is an excellent place for a business meeting or if you just want drinks in a cool roof top establishment. One of the few roof top bars with retractable roofs making it usable all year round.

expensive but great

By LOrry_AB |

Love the Kimberly to stay and have had the buffet breakfast there. Excellent, great view, good coffee and not expensive by NY standards.

Cool rooftop bar

By Viki C |

this is a hidden gem, very cool vibe and beautiful mid town views. drinks and snacks were good. Definitely worth checking out.

Nice little bar with great views

By TravelAnne02 |

A very nice rooftop bar in a rather inconspicuous hotel from the outside. Very friendly service who offered us an alternative in a VIP room on our 2nd visit due to closed company. The bar is partially open and can be completely closed in case of rain. Various seating options and a great view of Manhattan at night. The drinks selection is neat, all standard cocktails off the menu no problem, bar food is also great. A perfect and uncrowded place for a nice evening

Quick Drinks

By Jenpowell31 |

I stayed at the Kimberly and was really excited to grab a bite and drink on the rooftop but I didn't get a chance to eat here on my short stay because I went at 6pm; it was unbelievably crowded. I should have known better to go during happy hour / sunset on a Friday so if you're here for a visit I would try earlier on in the day or later into the night. We came back at around 9:30 to have a drink and it was much quieter with good service and a great view of the city.

Most miserable waitress in the world!

By lisacakesgreen |

If you want to experience an aesthetically pleasing roof top bar with terrace this is it. Beautiful views and party atmosphere. We ordered champagne and begrudgingly a kashadian styled beautiful waitress brought it over. She did not attempt to crack a single smile or show any kind of emotion at all. We have her a huge tip and regretted it immediately. She was soooo sullen and miserable. We were tempted to make a comment but she was so aloof and rude we thought better of it. The DJ played some really dreadful tunes but it was funny all the same. Would visit here again but perhaps when they had different staff on duty!

Great roof top terrace

By aphillips61 |

Spent our evenings having a drink just next door to our hotel. The view is a nice city view and the service is good. Can get very busy on weekends

Upstairs at The Kimberly - Take some customer service tips from the hotel downstairs.

By Sun_Queen_61 |

Whilst staying atThe Kimberly, we decided to have brunch on our last day at Upstairs at The Kimberly. Having received outstanding customer service in the hotel, we found the same was't afforded to guests upstairs. Whilst waiting for our meals I picked up my glass of water only for it to fall to pieces - not the fault of the staff obviously. However, there was no apology offered, just a half hearted attempt to mop the table and some serviettes handed out to finish the job ourselves. Not a good start to the meal, which arrived barely warm as one of the waiters wandered around trying to find out who had ordered the meals. Our visit was wrapped up by the table being cleared whilst one of our party was still eating. It's a shame the service was lacking the day of our visit as the setting is beautiful and the bar is a perfect place to have a drink and take in the NY skyline.

Beautiful Views and great service!

We utilized this space several times on our recent visit. As guests The Kimberly invites you up between 11AM and 4PM for complimentary coffee and snacks. This space has a retractable roof and during our stay the weather was pleasant so we enjoyed the open air space. During the evening we came up for a few drinks and then on another day we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast in this space. As in all aspects of our stay at The Kimberly the service was excellent. I would highly recommend you visit.

Disappointing

By DBLJAM |

The view is nice. Panna cotta was bland. Drinks were well made. It was average overall, but the hostess was not professional.

Always a Private Party

By Rochesteragent |

We were fortunate to even get a cocktail upstairs since both nights we were there it was rented out for a private party (including a wedding).

Sunday Brunch

By Kenn H |

We came to Upstairs at the Kimberly for the Sunday Brunch, I was hoping for a buffet, but the the brunch menu had a great variety. Our server was attentive and friendly, when the sun through the greenhouse windows went from warm to hot she helpfully offered to lower the shade and that worked wonderfully. The portions were more than adequate and the fruit plate was more than enough for 3 of us to share.

Nice view, nice drinks, correct food

By Monpetit |

For an agreable drink, with view and with some correct food, upstairs is a good choice. View on the Chrysler or the GE buildings, good cocktails-classic or not. The food is classic for such a location but well cooked : crabcakes, salad, cheese...

Nice place but make a reservation if you want a seat.

By PinkPearl2 |

Very small but nice rooftop lounge. Make a reservation though or you likely will stand around the bar. Didn't really appreciate the bartender digging her bare hands in the fruit for drinks and also handling money. I decided to have wine instead!

Stylish cocktail roof top bar

By JulesRawlinson |

Dropped by on the recommendation of a friend and was pleasantly surprised. Although all of our group might not have met the dress code we were met with a smile and shown to a nice table overlooking the city. It was a busy sunny Sunday afternoon with lots of guests enjoying food and cocktails. We ordered beers and sampled the cocktails, and although a little expensive no more than other bars around NYC. Would recommend a visit especially if the sun is shining and would definitely return.

Rooftop Bar in Midtown East

By apf9930 |

Upstairs at the Kimberly was one of our best nights! We got there before dusk and had a prime view of the Chrysler building. This is a roof top bar with retractable ceiling/walls so even in cool weather a cool place to hangout! We are red wine drinkers and they had a great selection. The best calamari we've ever had! Staff was beautiful and very attentive. We plan to check out The Kimberly for our next visit. Enjoy!!

Wonderful view

By Bill M |

The staff greeted us warmly and we enjoyed the view/venue very much. The food was very good. Prices were a bit on the high side, but paying a slight premium seemed warranted.

Amazing rooftop scene!

By BeckyS |

So much fun! Great for cocktails, socializing and instagramming!! No sandals allowed (flip flops) but they lent my husband a pair of dress shoes which he spotted with shorts! Too much fun...will absolutely be back!

Love the hotel and the roof top bat

By austinjjc |

We have stayed at the Kimberly Hotel many times over the past two decades. But tonight believe it or not was our first time to go to the rooftop bar. We are not sure if it was recently added or we were just oblivious. The place is just great. Some covered seating. Some open. Very professional, well-dressed and courteous staff. Good drinks priced as one would expect in NYC. They even managed to make me a pretty decent pisco sour (a new found love since visiting Peru a few months ago). They serve some decent popcorn for late night munching. The location is great at 50th between third and Lex. There is a great French restaurant two blocks away named Bateau Ivres. Dinner there and late cocktails is a perfect date.

good bar after dinner ! good music , good view, cocktail so and so ! you have to go for a typical night in ny city ... if you are nearby !

Great NYC views!

By Sophia E |

Went there with a friend for drinks. Place has spectacular views of the city. Will go back during the spring/summer so I can be outside on the rooftop. A great spot that not many know about. It's a little pricey - had a small appetizer and glass of wine totaling around $35.00. But the view is worth it.

Upstairs @ The Kimberly -- City Rooftop Lounge 2018

By pkgreen2018 |

The weather and nightlife in the city are finally heating up. We recently discovered this hotspot for cocktails and appetizers in midtown Manhattan on the East side. The Kimberly Hotel is home to Upstairs — a rooftop lounge with a retractable ceiling. It’s time to open up the sky view. Spectacular! The lounge attracts a Happy Hour and a late night crowd. Great music vibrates the roof while the breathtaking views change from day to night as the sun sets and the skyscraper lights come on. The Chrysler Building beams with respect directly in the center of the vista. Upstairs attracts a crowd of fashionistas, business people and plenty of local city dwellers whom are in-the-know. It’s a hodgepodge of society with a New York twist. You will also bump elbows with tourists who are staying in the charming, European-style Kimberly Hotel. The staff is as beautiful as the views and as friendly as you can get. My suggestion is to try The Watson: A Boodles gin based cucumber martini made with white cranberry juice and fresh lime. Revitalizing, anti-inflammatory. I substituted vodka for the gin because I wouldn’t be able to write this if I were on the latter. It’s the perfect libation. Tossing back drinks with my bros Adam and Prince, they ordered The Midtown. If Jack Kerouac were alive, this drink would have made him stay in New York. It’s made with Makers Mark Bourbon based “Novel in a glass” with fresh raspberry and chamomile! My friends agreed and ordered two of them. Upstairs offers a wide variety of small plates and snacks like crab cakes, grilled chicken sate and truffled mac-n-cheese. I recommend the guacamole pico de gallo. It is fresh, flavorful and a little bit spicey. This dish is perfect to share and comes with crispy corn chips. Ole! Upstairs does not take reservations, its first come, first served.

Posh and Classy

By Fub D |

Nice ambiance, good for singles or couples no kids allowed. Had a good strong drink while enjoying Cafe del Mar type music and their perfect view of Chrysler building.

Great Rooftop Venue

By corptool |

Catered a small business get together at this upscale rooftop at the Kimberly Hotel. They have glass covered roof/walls with great views of the midtown area (Chrysler Building, etc). They opened the roof/walls because it was a nice night. The drinks and passed appetizers were tasty. The service staff and catering manager were very professional and helpful. It's a packed, lively bar-scene with lots of music and noise.

Stay downstairs for the food, go Upstairs for the ambience

By kelven w |

We came here for some snacks and a drink. It was very busy so we grabbed something from the bar first. Had their cucumber Collins which was quite good. Light and refreshing! We then grabbed a table and ordered a couple appies. First came their crab cakes. It was mushy. That’s all I can say and wouldn’t order it again. We also had their Kobe sliders. It was quite good and tasty. I only wish they were bigger. They are one bite. Lol I’d say the highlight was that drink and the complimentary snacks they brought. Candied walnuts, peanuts and sour cream& onion chips.

Beautiful place.

By SueP413 |

We went to Upstairs late night/early morning. We were at the end of our Rooftop Bar tour. Upstairs was around the corner from our hotel. Everyone agreed (10 of us) that this was our favorite. This was my third visit. The last time was also part of a bar hop. We had drinks and delicious apps and loved the music and scenery. The first time was for brunch. Food was excellent, albeit very slow to come out. When I inquired as to why there was such a delay I found the manager to be very condescending, telling me that "in NYC, this is what brunch is like" LOL I have been having brunch in NYC since before he was born! That was 4 years ago though and it hasn't deterred me from coming back!

Great Rooftop in Midtown Manhattan

By TheScottRose |

Amazing place for a cocktail and apps in midtown. Views are great and there is a lot of seating. Gets very crowded in the summer but worth it. If you are eating, try the lamb chops.

Great little Rooftop!

By Nandita A |

We went for a drink before heading out to dinner and what a fabulous view at dusk of the Chrysler building and another one on the side with a beautiful figure carved on top. Great service, great music and a great cocktail called the Chrysler!

Rooftop at the Kimberly

By michaelseanc |

Great view from 30 floors up, awesome drinks with a good wine selection and good food ,and entertainment.,

Good mac’n’cheese

By Romain A |

Came to taste the mac’n’cheese and was not disappointed. The serving was just fine. I guess the rooftop is really nice during warmer times.

Good drinks with a view

By Eric Z |

A nice place for a drink at night with a great view of the Chrysler building. Good cocktails; nice ambiance; we didn't get any food because we just had dinner somewhere else but we wished we hadn't; the small plates look good; we will definitely go back.

low key & relaxing

By Rudolph V |

After a trip with the beautiful wife to Channel @ Bloomingdales i always need a cocktail to keep things in prospective. Go "Upstairs" for bloody marys & lobster rolls...A great roof top value & setting with attentive service. After a few you might take her back for the matching wallet!

excellent

By lmizza |

This is a fantastic place. The food was incredible. The service amazing. The atmosphere is amazing as well.

Beautiful Rooftop

By Barbara S |

A beautiful rooftop, with amazing view and decor..lovely in the daytime as well as the evening, staff were great

Awesome view of the Chrysler building at night

By welikecabobest |

This place is on the 31st floor and is an awesome place! They have breakfast here in the mornings and drinks, snacks, dance music, smoking section and a gorgeous view at night! No tennis shoes or flip flops though. Get dressed up and go have a cocktail!

Good view but pricy

By Semaj |

Had evening drinks and snacks, view, drinks and food all good but could not give a better rating as it was expensive for what was on offer. Probably would not return.

Great rooftop bar w good dance music

By shrek & donkey world wind adventure |

This small rooftop bar is a good find. Great music and excellent atmosphere. Their $18 signature drink the Chrysler is not very good. The summer watermelon drink is great. This is a much younger crowd 21-35ish. The rooftop opens up and has a good view of Empire State Building. The best rooftop bar in NY is still The Skylark .... Make reservations.

Great policy

By Clare G |

Stopped by for ore dinner drinks and half way through my gin and tonic I noticed the glass was cracked. When brought to the attention of the waitress I and my friend were immediately given 2 free drinks ON THE HOUSE. I like it. Returning this summer too

Penthouse dining

By PMGroup |

Buffet breakfast is a real treat with a selection of teas and juices, the omelettes are particularly good and although it is a buffet, the waitstaff is exceptional.

Very fun!

By ampiparedes |

Went there for brunch and had waffles. The food is really good and the general vibe is really cool, really fun place with an amazing view.

Manhattan at Night...

By SuperYumbles |

Took mum here for 60th birthday cocktails (at a sky high $18 a pop)...we were invited to crash an art deco-style party so things were fun and friendly! The view is twinkly and special, the bar is cosy and pretty...the drinks are incidental (and ours were very badly made as a rushed barwoman barked "That'll be $36!!!!" repeatedly!)

A great way to end an evening

By Kimberly P |

This is a very romantic spot in NYC. The drinks are delicious and the view of the Chrysler building is incredible.

Love on a rooftop!!

By Thomas Wojcik |

Nice rooftop, drinks were reasonable for NYC Looked like a after work crowd but it was early! Good DJ don’t know if they had food!

Very disappointed - place to avoid

By italofrenchy |

Horrible management. The manager did not want to let me sit at the table I had booked for the evening, saying that he did not like my shoes and asked us to sit from the far end of the bar and said that from there no one will see me and see my shoes. I do not know what the hell was the problem as I was dressed formal. Pricy and not friendly, this is a place to avoid. Also they mentionne on the website great view on Chrysler tower ( well from a distance of 3 miles we nearly see it)

Once a big fan, time to look elsewhere.

By in2flying |

I've been a semi frequent guest and enjoyed the Kimberly Hotel along with Upstairs, as a nice romantic getaway option. Although the roof top was never cheap, the experience was always worth it. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. While I can still report the hotel was excellent, along with very kind staff, the exact antithesis happened during our recent two visits to the Rooftop. A large private party was happening during our one visit which dominated most of the available space. The staff seemed untrained, young and didn't seem eager to work..Rude would be very accurate actually. . It seems the climate is to now focus on the private party and ignore the regular guest. Either way, plenty of options exists for a rooftop drink, and we'll surely be looking elsewhere. Unrelated to this and no fault of the Kimberly, construction across the street, has a large building wrapped in bright orange. Definitely detracts from the view.

Snooty-pick somewhere else

By Bearcat S |

I’ve met friends at this rooftop bar over the years & we’ve always enjoyed it - a fun place for a group - views, chill atmosphere — pricy but worth it - with that said, when I went this time I was told that there was a “private party” and I couldn’t go up. I had my reservation with me & after I showed it to the bouncer I was allowed in. We had a good time but I won’t be going here again. I realized the guy felt I wasn’t “up to snuff” and tried to keep me out. I was wearing a dress - I’m just not young anymore. I hate this kind of treatment and in NYC there’s loads of other options.

Cocktails before dinner

By ericnightflyer |

Great rooftop bar with great service and views. We also did a cheese plate which was excellent. Highly recommend!

By ejtS |

A lovely cool place to enjoy a nice evening above rooftops in Manhattan with smart waiting service. Recommended by the hotel concierge as a place to stop for drinks before dinner. Loved every bit of it and look forward to going back very soon.

An Every Night Experience

By Appealing56 |

Regardless of where my wife and I went during the day or where we dined in the evening, we always ended up here before retiring for the night. On the 30th floor of the Kimberly Hotel, the view of the iconic Chrysler Building at night is magnificent. The drinks are great. We recommend the Cosmos and, of course, “The Chrysler” - one of the signature drinks. Not to be missed.

Great breakfast buffet for guests...

By robert-eric w |

For guests of the Kimberly, the "Upstairs" serves a perfect breakfast buffet on their beautifully appointed penthouse rooftop. Beautiful space with exceptional views and top notch breakfast fare. As a starter to a busy day in Manhattan, I could not ask for more. It loses a "star" after it becomes a rooftop lounge in the evening...the crowd becomes much younger, much louder and much more boisterous. A great view in the evenings, but one drink was enough.

It was my birthday...but did anyone care?

By Yendor R |

LAWD! Where do I begin? First of all, this was my birthday dinner. I flew into New York from LA. I had other friends fly in for my 40th birthday on April 20th, and I was so disappointed. We left after appetizers. First, they sat us outside in the cold when I requested to be seated inside. I asked the waitress to turn on the heater, and she said it did not work.I asked the busboy, and he said you click the nob....It worked. There was no welcome or mention of it being my birthday. I wasn't expecting a cake, but I have experienced other amazing accomplishments this year, like graduation, and two other restaurants made that experience special and surprised me with a cake. I was like ohh, this is how it's done. The waitress had an attitude because most of my table was sober, and we didn't drink alcohol. She barely came back to service us. They were not busy. We left after the cheese. I did not want to spend another dime. I had a friend who lived in NY and never tried the place, and they said, "We are never coming back here." Do not come here. It was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day!

Great Food

By Linda H. |

The Breakfast at the Kimberly is superb! There is an excellent variety of food. Everything tastes exceptional. Service is great! A magnificent way to start the day.

Nice little bar

By Kurt I |

I was staying in a hotel that is to low for any type of view so I wanted to have a drink and take in the Manhattan skyline. This little place foot the bill. Very easy to get to, great views, prices were reasonable and the service was attentive. My wife and I enjoyed a few drinks, had a charcuterie board and took in the views. It was a nice place to enjoy the skyline with a few drinks, I would go again.

Brunch

By Erin P |

Delicious brunch with killer views, and the complimentary mimosas from the hotel really topped things off!

Lovely views and tasty cocktails

By katbee33 |

Rooftop bar offers lovely city views. The bartender and servers were delightful and the drinks well crafted. First visit (on a rainy Sunday evening) was nice and relaxed. Second visit (on a warm Friday evening) was crowded and loud. So, plan accordingly!

Great view, excellent service

By Cheriejay |

Stopped in here for drinks after dinner. Nice rooftop space with comfortable seating. The inside has plenty of seating also with a great view. Service was really good. Good wine list and friendly staff

Amatuer

By Ian B |

Been in NYC for a week and on last night thought we would go to the Kimberley (rave reviews). Views were great of Chrysler but would expect more from drinks at 18 dollar per pop. Barmaid was pleasant but dim . Quiet happily served us another drink st 11.45 then told us it was closing and took candle off table (at that price service should have been perfect till it closed). when I said I was unhappy no one said sorry so I suggest you look for some where else - we enjoyed sky lounge but it's on the other Side of town

Nice play for drinks before going out for the evening

By Tony d |

My wife and I came here to have some drinks after being out and about doing the touristy thing. The weather was pleasant; the staff retracted the glass ceiling/wall all the way while we were there, exposing us to mostly blue sky. The drink prices were a little high, but it was a nice place to chill before heading out for dinner.

It’s now our go-to rooftop bar in NYC

By RickR1960 |

It’s now our go-to rooftop bar in NYC when we’re visiting. Music is not blaring, excellent drinks and small Plates . Friendly staff

Nice Hangout! Mostly Enclosed...Upscale

By MattCheeks |

Nice place to hang for a bit... Mostly enclosed, you can still enjoy in the rain. The dress code is upscale business casual and there is usually a line, so if you go early you may beat the line... Drinks are made well and the views are awesome!

Nice

By StockholmSwedebear |

Really good rooftop to enjoy a warm evening. Ok drinks and friendly staff. A little uptight depending on the crowd, but a really nice location. Worth a visit at least.

Unique Attraction!

By dudley010 |

Great Breakfast buffet and also Ala Carte availability. Bar fun at night. Good vibe and music. Outdoors is great!

Skip it - Ridiculous setup, terrible crowd

By NYCDesign78 |

When the weather gets nice, the impulse to meet up for a drink outside is understandable. But the business model of this place is horrible. They focus on corporate events. There were, like, six corporate events going on at the same time. They were all half-empty but roped off large sections. Both staff and the self-important guests within would jump on you if you nudge even an inch into the space. Being corporate events, the people there were not attractive nor interesting. The view is nothing special at all. Just looking into other buildings. Big deal. I will say that the bartending staff was very nice and I found the drinks well-priced.

sundowners!

a lovely venue, super vibe great atmosphere. good and friendly service. the complimentary popcorn with the drinks is a great idea definitely worth a visit its in a great location too

Lovely breakfast

By Streiner |

Enjoyed a sun-filled morning of pancakes and to-order omelets by their wonderful staff for my birthday. Started the day off right, staff was so friendly.

Great views, terrific service

By Andy E |

We were staying nearby, and stopped here a couple of times in the evening for drinks. The service at the bar was barman remembered our drinks for our first visit, very impressive. Drinks are reasonable priced by NYC standards, although we didn’t try the food.

Overpriced, dated, nothing special

By sherman49 |

I can't understand the positive reviews of this place. An average view in a city of great views, hugely expensive drinks ($19 for a gin cocktail) served by a very sour waitress, shabby decor and dirty tables. We also had breakfast here and it was the most expensive and underwhelming of our stay. The Kimberley is a great hotel for families, but give Upstairs a miss.

simply amazing- perfect event venue

By formertravelgirl1 |

I hosted a buffet brunch for approximately 75-80 people and I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful this experience was from start to finish. The team understands hospitality and delivers excellent service. The ambience is beautiful. Every single one of my guests had an amazing afternoon at this venue. 100% book your next event (and ask for Jordana, she's fantastic to work with).

LOVED IT!

By KimberlyListek |

The view from the rooftop was breathtaking & the breakfast brunch was delicious! The staff was welcoming & friendly and their services were above and beyond!

Once A Sanctuary, Now A Zoo

By OpenVistas |

My friend and I discovered this terrific rooftop bar 9 months ago. It was tranquil. Good drinks. A little on the costly side. Enjoyed ourselves tremedously. Fast forward. Today. The waitresses are squeezed into tiny black dresses 2 sizes too small. And I do not mind the Tartly Look because it obviously draws the well heeled 30 something years old, testerone drinkers who will pour their Paycheck into the coffers of this bar. What I do not like is that absolute lack of good service with a smile. No longer my favorite watering hole.

Super Breakfast

By Peter S |

Very good choice of excellent food - but not cheap! Restaurant is on top floor with large windows so you can enjoy good views over Manhattan.

Love this place

By timothysmith |

Upstairs at the Kimberly is a very nice rooftop bar in midtown. They have specialty cocktails and appetizers. The vibe is very chic and the view is spectacular for NYC. PLUS...you never know who you might see!

Crowded!

By travelbeau |

Rooftop bar was very crowded and loud. Lots of young people. Could not get to the bar for a drink... very disappointing!

Nice rooftop bar

By Matt |

The wife and I nipped up here for a drink on our way back to the hotel. We were seated straightaway at a window table . The staff were very friendly and looked after us. Drinks seem a bit expensive, but pretty standard for any similar bar in the area. Ended up staying for a couple more and had a great time.

Excelent food, Excelent service!!!

By C. ESTRADA |

Breakfast was delicius, and the wonderful service made the experinece much better. At night, it has a very nice ambience for drinks, nice food. Beautiful views!

Nice Views

By musictraveler40 |

Great coffee in this little place on top of the Kimberly. Enjoyed sitting outside and admiring the architecture. Now, come about five to nine p.m. I suspect you need hipster repellant if you go up, but anytime before that it seemed pretty awesome. Single elevator at the Kimberly, though, that dings it one star.

Great Brunch and views to boot!

By Stan C |

Really nice place to see city and enjoy great food! We had reserved table for brunch (recommend) and the food was great!! Fresh salad, crispy fries and the truffle pizza was delicious!

Rude , terrible service

By AJ22SYD |

Let’s say I cannot believe how bad it was , my husband and I thought it was a joke or there was a hidden camera somewhere , some one was playing a prank on us . We walked in and immediately the Manager interrogates us to see if we had a reservation, didn’t find it right away and was already telling the hostess not to seat us . By the way , the restaurant was empty Lol then when he finds the reservation he tells the hostess to sit us at the far end ... he seemed mad about it too :( At this point we should of walked out , but he view of the Empire State Building was nice . Also like to note, my husband and I are well dressed cute couple , so we we’re wondering what was wrong ?? Anyhow , service was slow , they forgot my tea , I asked 2x , my husband had to wave down the waitress more than once . Food was just ok, not alot choxes Needless to say , I needed to write this review. Apparently they say Roof Top bars are notoriously known for treating customers this way, but not true . We went to another place , and it was great — called Refinery . God food , good music , food and drinks we’re delicious .

Great views of NYC

By Traceya440 |

This is a terrific place for an evening drink. Sophisticated seating, great bartender. The place is not cheap and there are early corporate-types after work and the crowd changes over the evening to more of an urban hip group. Have had(pretty good) tapas there, but not a dinner place--

A New York State of Mind !!!

By Carolyn B |

Terriific .... everything one needs ... ambience is electric ... what everyone thinks New York should be !! the twinkle lights and the view seem to compel one to order Champagne or a Martini or something exotic .... it should be prescribed for those of us visiting New York on business .... at the end of a long day a short visit to this Penthouse ... and you know you've been in New York, New York.

We ended up going to Henry's Rooftop Bar, two blocks away

By Brian11375 |

After our Fortune 500 company relocated our HQ offices to this neighborhood, we were on the hunt for a new 'go to' place to celebrate various corporate events, and to unwind at the end of the week. We sent a team of about 10 to the rooftop at the Kimberly to see if it would meet our needs. Although we were all 'business casual' on a hot and humid summer Friday, we apparently didn't meet the dress code and were denied entry. We spoke to two different managers, both of whom denied having any responsibility for the policy, or the ability to make an exception. So we shrugged our shoulders and went around the corner to Henry's Rooftop Bar at the Roger Smith Hotel, and enjoyed their drinks (I recommend their Margaritas) and food in a wonderful rooftop setting for the next 5+ hours - and already have plans to return. I do feel compelled to point out that the doorman at the Kimberly was asking people to wait for the next elevator to minimize the risk of the elevator getting stuck. But, based on other Trip Advisor reviews (both for the bar, and the hotel itself), I'm far from the first person to be concerned about the elvators. Consider yourself warned.
