I used to come here years ago and happened to walk by. It is as good as I remembered. My favorite dish is the chicken pineapple rice.

Just a few blocks away from our hotel, we were not disappointed with this restaurant. 9th is definitely worth exploring for somewhere to have drinks and to eat. Don't be put off by the dark interior of VIV, from the outside. The staff were friendly and helpful, the menu had everything you would want. We all had something different, Massaman curry with chicken and avocado, Red Curry, Sweet and Sour and the VIV noodle along with steamed vegetables. All the dishes were lovely, and we appreciated the quick service after a long day. The restaurant had a great, busy atmosphere. We would highly recommend.

Lovely, friendly and welcoming place. Service was great and food came super quickly. The food was delicious. I ordered chicken cashew stir fry which was a perfect sized portion. MY partner ordered chicken volcano and the presentation was really excellent. Overall delighted we went for dinner there.

I have a lot of data with Thai restaurants all over the U.S. and in Bangkok. This place is on the podium! Fabulous green curry with beef - very tender. Tom Gai soup was clearly made painstakingly of fresh veggies. Loved it. Supremely observant service. Magical ambience! Highly recommend this place.

My wife and I enjoyed dinner here during a Friday evening late last month. When we arrived, we were glad that we had made a reservation, because most tables appeared to be occupied already. Although the ambiance - dark, noisy, busy - was not typical for us (we are older, and I have a hearing deficiency), we had a good time and were able to converse across the small table along a wall. Our food - Pad See Eiw - and beverages - "On Cloud 9" cocktail for her; Singha beer for me - were delicious, and the servers were excellent.

Seriously delicious food. We loved it. Go there for the food. Service is fine as well, they could maybe play some different music but otherwise no complaints.

Excellent! Visited with my son while in NY. Really good value for money, food excellent. Total bill 44$ which included a couple of drinks. Fast and efficient service. They only take bookings for parties of 5 or more. Good vibe, music, cocktails, funky decor.

I love Thai food. I've eaten it all over the world including in Thailand. This is some of the best Thai cuisine I've ever eaten. Everything from the curry puffs, duck salad, soups, and the sublime pad thai were outstanding. Excellent service (thank you to our waiter Toby) that made us feel welcome and like regular customers. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Seriously Delicious Thai Food This restaurant was walking distance from the studio of The Daily Show where we were going, so it was natural that we would pick a place with our favored cuisine. As soon as we entered, we were welcomed and greeted by some really friendly and smiling people, and led to our table at the back. It was fairly early, so the dinner crowd had not arrived. The place filled up by the time we left. The Menu was not extensive, but that ensured that the items would be quality ones. They are also very specific about all the ingredients that go into the dish preparations. So we aware if you are a vegetarian, or have allergies, because we were informed that each and every item is cooked in fish sauce. Between the four of us, we ordered a few Crispy Spring Rolls with sweet Plum Sauce (unique because they are long instead of the usual folded and wrapped ones) for Appetizers. For the Main Course we had Pad Thai, Avocado Massaman Curry with Vegetables, Chicken Cashew King and the Pad Prik King with Fried Tilapia. Everything was superb, and elegantly presented. We had expected good food after reading the reviews, and every single dish far exceeded those expectations. The Fried Bananas with Vanilla Ice Cream was the perfect end to a wonderful meal. The décor is very interesting – bright neon-lit outside and dim mood lighting inside. The bathrooms are quirky and a little dark. But, do not forget to look up as you enter and view the massive dragon that starts at the entrance and winds its way all the way to the back. Our first experience was great, and we will not hesitate to return.

Thai Food has become ever popular over the past ten years. i feel VIV would like to be known as an upscale chic establishment….you know, a cool laid-back vibe that can be trendy. Well, I understand that tech is a necessity but, no menus and ordering with a language barrier can cause problems. Before we ordered we were told that we have a maximum of 1.5 hours to dine and if that didn’t work, we shouldn’t stay. OK. Recalling my last time here, I requested two separate types of Thai soup that is common in most Thai restaurants. The menu changed since I last visited about a year ago so, whilst looking at my phone at the menu, and trying to understand the kind server, before I knew It, I ordered a $30 terrain of soup with giant prawns as opposed to two portions of the Tom Yum which we would have liked. The Soup was exceptional but, not for $30. We ordered chicken satay and Thai Spring Rolls….all very good and presented nicely but, appearing at the table instantaneously. There was a happy hour for margaritas and martinis. Both of which had little to no spirits in their recipe! The main course arrived before we started the soup. We felt rushed. This was not an enjoyable dining experience. The quality and taste of the food was good and much like any other Thai restaurant in the area. I don’t mind spending $$$ but, I have an issue when, what I perceived, the goal of the restaurant was to feed the customer quickly and turn the tables. Fast Food Thai with a CHIC gimmick.

We went here with 7 and enjoyed the good Pad Thai. Nothing too fancy but the setting and service were extremely good. Would recommend this place!

The food was so tasty and well cooked. Great service as well. Good atmosphere and nice decor. I don’t recall a better Thai meal.

I love v[iv]! It’s one of my go to restaurants when taking a friend out and is always where my parents want to go when they’re in town! I’ve been countless times now and it’s always SO good. Great ambiance, yummy cocktails, and DELICIOUS food. Great portions too - always have some left over so I get to take home and have for lunch! One of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood

We had been here once before and on a busy Saturday night were able to wrangle a table for 3 after a 15 minute wait. This place has a bit of a club feel, especially with the music and the paper dragon suspended from the ceiling and lit from within. The food, however, was mediocre and only one of us liked our meal. We have a lot of experience with Thai food and it seems the little hole-in-the-wall places tend to be more authentic. There are so many Thai places along 9th Ave that we will try the next time we are in the area.

Really enjoyed the food! Great service. Highly recommend! If you are going to a show and want a meal first, you will get great food with a minimum wait.

Delicious Thai dinner. Very good portion sizes with great flavour. The service from all the staff was excellent. Loved the Decor and vibe. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

Visited this restaurant twice during the trip and had the lunch menu both times. Amazing food, great on both visits, true Thai food! Staff so friendly and welcoming with a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant! Fantastic value for money during the lunch menu (margaritas are great too) Will definitely visit again :)

Visited this restaurant for a pre-show meal and it was perfect. Went on a Tuesday night prior to a 7pm show and the food was awesome! really quality food. Our table of three walked in (tried to make a reservation for 5pm but the hostess denied the request as they were typically not busy - she was right) and sat immediately at 5:15pm. We enjoyed some cocktails and wine, had an appetizer of crab ragoons (definitely worth it! - yum!) and then entrees of red curry with veggies, cashew stir fry, and noodles. We tried it all and all was really good. we enjoyed the ambiance and the food was really good. The only complaint was around the service.... it took a long time to get our drinks (arrived after our appetizer) and second round of drinks took too long which put us in a pinch for getting to the show (5 minute walk away from the restaurant). Also, paying the bill was slow... so if they pick up on the service I would have given them 5 instead of 4. Overall, worth it to go to a small, quality restaurant, prior to seeing show on broadway. would definitely do this again.

Grabbed a quick feed of calamari and fried fish along with a pad thai and all were delicious. Excellent service and pleasant atmosphere with reasonable prices make it worth a try.

We have been to VIV several times. Each visit is better than the previous one. And so was tonight's. We were greeted like celebrities and given a wonderful table. The staff, most from Thailand, are true professionals. We were lucky to have Gavin be our guide tonight - I refer to Gavin as 'our guide' because he guided us through the menu, recommended dishes, told us we had 3 minutes to go before the Happy Hour was over, stayed with us all evening with our enjoyment in mind. The food is vibrant and we enjoyed our Tom Kha, fried calamari, and our chicken satay just before dinner. Dinner was spectacular, Masaman curry with squid for me, Pad Thai for one of my friends, Curry chicken for another...Gavin stayed with us as if we were old friends and treated us like the best clients. Everything about VIV is great. We love this place, the food and - especially- the wonderful staff.

My wife and I came up for a Broadway play. We wanted some food that we usually don't get after the show. I had 2 to go to, my wife opt to go to one that we ate at before V{IV}. It is located on 9th ave between 48th & 49th sts, Keep an eye out, you can walk right by it. Small Resturant front. By coincidence we were seated the exact same place that we ate at before. We arrived around 5:00 pm with no reservations. The place only had a few customers. I ordered the "Rama 9". Choice of meats or seafood, vegetables in peanut sauce with a huge side of rice. Delicious! My wife had a dish with chicken and noodles in a brown sauce. I thought that hers was a bit salty, but she loved it. Happy hour is 5pm-7pm. $5 wine or margaritas. When we were leaving the place was pretty full. Enjoy!

Great Thai food . Not only tasty but also hot and spicy for some dishes. Good wine list at reasonable prices. Good service and decore

An absolutely delicious Thai restaurant on East 34th Street (between 3rd Ave, and Lexington) in Manhattan. Visit and enjoy!

We went there thinking we'll have the night to have fun, drink and enjoy a good meal. However, after we waited for 20 mins, we were stressed through the meal. Before we finished our entrées, we had to order our main course, and they were taking of our plates before we finished them. We heard a few employees asking clients if they were leaving soon.. At least the food was fantastic!

My friend and I had lunch here today as she's a regular and said to me: "You'll love it". OMG! She was right! The food is absolutely delicious! We both had the spicy noodle kee-mao (aka drunken noodles) - mine with chicken and hers with shrimp. We split edamame as our appetizer. We sat in the cute outside area. The portions are so generous (we both left with doggy bags). Our server Paul was fantastic too - attentive, fun and efficient! We'll definitely be back! Highly recommend if you're in the neighborhood (or even if you're not)!

This was a great find! Happy Hour pricing was amazing, they even came over and asked if we wanted another drink before regular pricing kicked in! The atmosphere was sexy and cozy. The food was delicious and so well priced! The service was fantastic and they were very accommodating! I highly recommend this Thai restaurant the whole experience was wonderful!

Great reviews and in NYC expected awesome Thai food. Sat at bar, blessing in disguise as on Monday evening it music was loud. The Chicken Steamed dumplings were good. The Gang Om with Salmon was average. I like spice for flavor and this was light of mild. Found salmon to not be of high quality. Was far from tender or moist. Tons of Thai restaurants in area will compare.

Two of us needed a quick pre-theatre meal last night and were very glad we came here. We were seated immediately in the front dining room. Warm greeting and great service. Both the Panang with chicken and the Pineapple fried rice were delicious. You'll get good value for reasonable prices in this modern and lively restaurant. And.... both the dining room and the unisex bathrooms are clean; always a good sign. I do recommend.

Very pleased with my meal. I had the ginger shrimp - generous portion overall, and surprisingly generous number of shrimp (7 in mine). I left satisfied with my meal. Service was fine - we ate outside and I appreciated the separate sections for safe eating. Good experience!

Thai food here is incredible!! Would recommend getting the Siam fried rice, garlic shrimp stir fry, and chive pancakes. Service was quick and waiters were courteous. Only complaint was that the restaurant was a too dimly lit for our liking.

We were staying at an apartment only 3 blocks away, so we walked over here for dinner on Friday, December 29, 2023. Arrived about 6 PM and we were seated immediately even though the place was nearly full. This restaurant is very decorative and lighted only by the hundreds of small LED lights, and the centerpiece... a 50 foot paper dragon hanging from the ceiling that snakes throughout the restaurant and is constantly changing colors. Walking through here gives one a feeling they are tripping on some psychedelic. The front room is a bar and some seating, then a narrow hallway goes back to the main dining room where we were seated. I started with a cocktail called the Hidden Dragon -which is a Thai style Old Fashioned. My wife and I shared a delicious app plate of Edamame, good but rather plain. She ordered the Spicy Noodle Kec-Mao. I had the Pla-Abb which is marinated and grilled Tilapia served in a fancy tall tiered pottery dish. Both plates were deliciously spicy. Mine made me sweat, which was an indication of my enjoyment as well. The servers wear iPads hanging around their necks or waists, and they stand erect and motionless among the tables when not taking orders or serving food. It is a little strange, but that must be what they are told to do. It was a little too dark here for dining, romantic but I like to see my food. We enjoy Thai food and this is a pretty good one.

I went with my friend whilst in New York and the Gluten free menu is a joke. I love Thai green curry and asked what was in the curry I couldn’t and they didn’t know The Head Chef was off and no one else knew, so we walked out

Our favorite Thai restaurant on 9th closed so my wife did the research and we gave VIV a try. Wow, were we happy. The place has vitality and energy overload. It was a very trendy restaurant with great decor. I had the Pad Thai and my wife had a sweet and sour chicken dish--we both loved them. We started with spring roll appetizers and those were presented in a way we have never seen! Keep up the great job and we'll venture back. Service and food delivery was lightening fast.

We visited after reading trip advisor reviews. The music was very loud and it was quite dark. We were shown to a table very close to other diners. Most the tables were in a row along a narrow passage. As we sat the waiter said you get 10% off for paying cash. We did not feel comfortable so left immediately.

Whenever I am in NYC I try to eat here. The duck tamarind is always tasty and very filling - big portion. Staff is always friendly and food usually comes quickly.

We had pre theatre dinner here. Our first visit and loved it. Food was so tasty and filling, real Thai flavours. Service was great lovely ambience, would love to come back ..open one in London please !

Outstanding Thai food. Worth the wait. We had two styles of noodles with chicken. Spicy but not over the top, chicken and shrimp dumplings, and crispy wing appetizer. Everything was excellent, and the service was exceptional as well.

On our last night in New York, hubby and I went on a "date" night. We thankfully just had to walk downstairs but got transported to another place and time. Vibey, friendly staff, delicious food, tasty cocktails, amazing décor - what else do you need right! Will definitely go back there on my next New York trip.

It's not much different from other Thai restaurants that I've been to. Here the service a bit better. The food was well presented. The ambiance of the place is good. Worth to try out.

My wife and I fancied some Asian/Thai food and found this place on TripAdvisor. We found the place very easy and were able to go straight in and a table was ready. We would recommend booking we were just lucky to get a table. The front of the restaurant was very loud with music but out back very personal and romantic. Huge dragon hanging from the start to end of the restaurant. The lighting is perfect. Menu has alot to offer with good selection of starters, great main meals and selection of desserts. We ordered 3 starters (massive portions). Remember if you order starters to let them know not to bring out mains aswell we had everything on our table. The green Thai curry was out of this world comes with sticky rice. We saw all other customers dinners coming out and all very well presented, big portion but looked amazing. The food is so tasty and it's a big recommend from us. Well priced for the food some would say bit expensive but for what you get is perfect. Toilets very clean like the restaurant through out.

We met some local friends who recommended this place for dinner. It was one of the most delicious and enjoyable Thai food dinner I had in a while. Prices were also very reasonable and despite some spotty delivery on the waiters' staff, it is a real gem. I'll be back next time in NYC.

VIV Thai has a superb menu. The food is very well prepared. The restaurant does NOT serve watered down entrees (typical of many Thai restaurants in New York Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. Its curry dishes and stir-fried chicken entrees are tasty. My favorite appetizer is crab ragoon. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive and good looking. Being a gay man, I visit VIV Thai a lot for dinners. My sole complaint is the blaring music in the front bar area, where there are tables for serving food. The music is so loud that one cannot talk to his dinner companion(s) and hear what they are saying. Tonight I repeatedly asked the staff to turn down the volume of music in the bar area, where I was sitting. They refused, stating that the bar drinkers like loud music. So, I walked out of the restaurant and went around the corner to Pam Real Thai, where there is no amplified music. During weekends, I avoid the restaurant, as I cannot stand the loud noise of diners talking/screaming in the main, rear dining room.

Looking for a great thai place we came here. Food was really good(not at all what we expected though) and the happy hour was pretty cheap. Great service to boot.

loved it - their lunch menu is great. the flavor of the food was outstanding. would definitely return here

The food was excellent and service amazing. Had the Pad Thai which was great and had lot's of chicken and shrimp.

Fast food. Great service - our water glasses were never empty. Dishes cleared promptly. The usual Thai menu. Happy hour drink specials - the margarita was good and strong. Had a bunch of apps and chicken pad thai.

It’s a cool place to be. We went spontaneously into that restaurant. Very kind personal. And it’s was happy hour. The food was very good and fast at our table. The location itself was dark and stylish. Loved the restroom:) Would recommend it and go again.!

A great Thai in NYC, we were very satisfied, we will definitely come back. It is also a very nice place and really cheap for NYC, our main courses cost between 18 and 24 dollars. Thank you so much!

Busy and tight but overall good. Each of us enjoyed our apps and entrees, although they arrived while we were still eating our apps. Otherwise, service friendly and professional. Good neighborhood Thai and better than some of the other Thai places here.

This was my second visit to this restaurant and the food continues to be great. The dish ordered was viv curry noodle with chicken and shrimp. The dish is bursting with flavor. The combination of noodles, chicken and shrimp in a delicious curry makes this a great item. Will certainly order this meal again. Highly recommended.

Just arrived in New York, dropped bags at hotel and went a wander , came across VIV Thai, we were seated straight away and well looked after food and drinks were very good and the whole place and experience was great.

Came here right before a show. The service was good and the food well done. I would suggest going here if you want to get out of time square and enjoy some tasty Thai.

The restaurant is quirky, service was really good and the food was so good. We ordered three mains between us, chicken pad Thai which tasted so good, pineapple fried rice which was so nice and a belly pork dish which again was delicious. And the bill, this place was so reasonably priced. I wish we’d ate here again before heading home. If you’re considering it, give it a try. You won’t be disappointed I’m sure. We loved it!

From the beginning to the end of our meal the service was great: polite, fast, professional and welcoming. The food was very tasty, great mix of tastes

OMG! The atmosphere & food was Fabulous! I ordered Rama 9 (but with a side of the broad thin noodles instead of rice). The peanut sauce and vegetables were perfectly flavored and cooked. I almost ate the whole thing and it was a huge bowl. This is my favorite go to spot when I visit New York before the theater. The illuminating dragon hanging throughout the restaurant was so cool!

This is my favorite Thai Spot in all of HK, probably all of NYC. The atmosphere is really fun and they’ve done a great job designing their outdoor dining space. Everyone who works here is incredibly friendly and the food is sooooo good. Highly recommend the Rama 9 (peanuts! 🤤) and the spring rolls.

Beautiful vegetarian options with speedy service. Cute decor and was funny to see staff dressed up for Halloween. Drinks were also very good!

The 9th Avenue area has become known as “Restaurant Row” for all the dining options packed side by side. You can find restaurants of all stripes along 46th St. and if you venture further into Hell’s Kitchen there are even more choices. I was in the mood for Thai so I left my theater district hotel and the neighboring chain restaurants and explored the choices a few blocks away. V{iV} (That’s how the spell it) had a menu that wasn’t too large but offered plenty of choices for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian diners. There was also a bar with craft cocktails, beer and wine. I was there during Happy Hour and the wines were quite reasonably priced by the glass, especially for Manhattan.

Not like any other Thai restaurant we've eaten in before - they don't have so many options for Gluten-free. Staff wasn't so nice and the food was OK, not more. Disappointed.

Enjoyed our dinner here. The food was great and there were plenty of dishes to choose from. Good service and nice atmosphere in the restaurant.

I have Had dinner there. God Thai food, very tasty and not extremely spicy. Good meal at a reasonable price. I recommend.

We were walking around Hell's Kitchen and looking for somewhere to eat. The combination of date (day before New Year's) and my wife's allergies made it difficicult to find somewhere. There was one table left and we were able to slip in. For the area the price was reasonable, although elsewhere it might be considered a tad steep. The staff was wonderful, accommodating allergies and being both kind and attentive. Overall this was a wonderful experience and we would certainly go back.

We had a wonderful happy hour pre-concert with drinks and terrific appetizers. The dumplings, spring rolls and curry puffs were great. The $5 drinks were a hit as well.

The most amazing thai food ever. Perfect combo of spice salt flavour snd happy to provide adaptations if required. Enough said. Would recommend it to everybody 😋😋😋😋😋

Was there with some family, must say that the Pad Thai is exclent. Service was really good. Had the dumplings and the papaya salad as well - all was great!

Really delicious! We loved the chicken pad se ewe, chicken fried rice and edamame! We will definitely go back!!

We visited here last November and were so impressed that we were looking forward to a return visit during our trip to NYC this year. Having chosen what we wanted, our server asked about allergies and on being told that my husband has a shellfish allergy, told us that he could only eat the tofu curry as all chicken and beef were pre-marinated in oyster sauce. Having eaten here 12 months ago with oyster sauce having been subbed for a veggie alternative, we were surprised to be told that this was no longer an option as the decision had been taken to keep the Thai authenticity. While I am all for authenticity, the decision to significantly and needlessly restrict the menu to anyone with a shellfish allergy seems to be extremely shortsighted. The situation wasn’t helped by a total lack of concern or any apology and we reluctantly made the decision to leave, very disappointed and more than a little frustrated. The last time we visited, the restaurant was packed out and buzzing. Tonight it was almost empty. It might have been a fluke of timing or may have been due to what felt like an apparent disregard for basic customer consideration; something that seems far too common in our post-Covid world.

Went as a couple on Saturday night this place was loud we could barely hear each other didn’t help that a large family group beside us had a full on shouting match for duration of our meal with no intervention from Resteraunt staff we ordered calamari and chicken satay for starters they were ok but we had to remind waitress of our order when satay came only she then got calamari but by the time we started our main courses arrived just barely warm we ate these checked desert menu only 3 or 4 choices got the cheque and left as our ears were ringing from the noise bill was not too expensive overall impression somewhere for younger people who want happy hour cheaper food and might be willing to shout their conversation for the night and not care too much about the standard of the service we won’t be going back

Kevin was an amazing waiter! Authentic food that was delicious and came out quickly. Great vibes!!!!

The atmosphere was just what I needed after a long hike that I took around NYC tonight. I ordered the crispy calamari, squid Pad Thai, and Moonstone Plum sake. The food came out very quickly on a packed night. The staff is amazing. If I wasn’t just on vacation, I would continue to come back.

We stopped in to have dinner at VIV Thai after a show at Lincoln Center and were extremely impressed. The decor is modern and vibrant with a huge dragon floating over the heads of the diners. The staff is young and personable and the service was quick and unobtrusive. Also, unlike too many restaurants in this area, the place was spotless. The menu is large and varied with wok specialties, curry dishes, noodle dishes, and an overall comprehensive selection of Thai favorites. I had chicken satay to start, with beef stir fry as an entree and my companion had a curry dish. Both were extremely flavorful, perfectly spiced, and in a word, delicious. The prices were reasonable. We will be back. If you love Thai food this one is surely one of your top options in New York City.

I'm always looking for good value in the city. I love Thai food, love martinis, love wine. Viv is the place , in the heart of Hells kitchen . $6 wine and martinis til 8pm. Great happy hour menu. I know Thai. They can cook.

Viv is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in my neighborhood. Delicious food, at VERY reasonable prices, and cheap Happy Hour drinks. The vibe is young, hip, and friendly, and it's always a cool place to eat if you are visiting, or if you are hosting out-of-towner's. Lunch specials are cheap, but dinner portions are much more generous, so also a great value. When I'm out of town for awhile, I can't wait to get back. Also a cool bar area in the front of the restaurant; Very authentic Thai food, and the cooks are from Chiang Mai. LOVE THIS PLACE!!

When you enter it does not look a typical Thai restaurant and then you ask yourself... what type of Thai food do they serve? Answer is.. they serve something amazing! Don't look around... try it! And don't forget to ask for some red curry!

Absolutely delicious Food, with beautiful presentation. My husband and I were so impressed! I got the duck sriracha noodles and my husband got duck stir fry (We love duck). The duck was so crispy and the noodles were obviously fresh and handmade. Perfect portion sizes. The drinks. So refreshing. Fresh fruit in them. The only downside was that they were out of certain drinks on the drink menu. The atmosphere is elegant, interesting contrast to most Thai restaurants. The meals came out quickly. The staff checked on us frequently.

We found VIV when looking for something nearby. The atmosphere is fun and hip. Service was amazing and everyone was welcoming and friendly. Covid safety is highly appreciated. The drinks were smooth and delicious. We will definitely be visiting again.

I’ve been to this place many times and finally I am writing a review. We usually sit at the bar but we have also sat at a table. The food is excellent as is the service. Everyone is very friendly and the crowd is diverse. They are very particular about how they will and won’t prepare their food but to be honest, they are usually right! The spice level is American vs Thai if you know what I mean. So feel comfortable to ask or food on the spicy side. They have a super cool dragon on the ceiling! My favorite is their Pad Thai and the Kra-Pow Puff!

VIV is a lively restaurant. Thai cuisine. The ministry also has an Asian background. The vibrancy of the restaurant is partly determined by these staff .. if you take the people in well, some women may be male after all, and maybe vice versa. Nothing wrong with that .. but some people in the ministry are very busy with themselves. Food then .. actually a fairly limited menu. I ate duck .. filleted, cut into nice slices. Unfortunately the duck was baked a little too long, wsl had been baking liquid for a little too long. Meat therefore somewhat gray in color and taste. It's too bad. Meat from partner .. what indestined he found. Low spirits. Main course third discompanion a huge ball of rice in half a pineapple, with shrimp in it. I tasted along and was not impressed .. somewhat flat in taste. In short .. three main courses "without a face". The fact that the waiter made it abundantly clear that he found the tip inadequate does not make our look back at this restaurant any better.

Today was our first night in the Hell's Kitchen area of New York City, and we were very excited to pick out a restaurant for dinner. Eventually, we settled on VIV as we were in the mood for Thai. The restaurant was close by and easy to access. We checked outside to look at the menu before going inside, and it didn't take long for us to decide that this restaurant was the right choice. Each and every dish that we ordered was simply fantastic. We are a big fan of chicken satay, and VIV's satays with peanut sauce did not disappoint. We had four main dishes that included noodles, curry, chicken and pork. The flavours were great and worked really well. It all tasted very Thai and tasty. If there was any fault, it would be that the portions were enormous. If you aren't really hungry, then it's worth even sharing a plate. Fortunately, the food was so good that it wasn't that hard to finish it. The decor of the restaurant was slightly funky, however fun and cool to look at. Overall, VIV was a great dinner out and has set the standards high for the other restaurants we plan to visit in the Hell's Kitchen area.

A group of us went to VIV Thai for dinner the other night and I thought the decor for the restaurant was beautiful. Elegantly designed for a small restaurant and a tiny tucked in space and beautifully decorated with cool colors and a large dragon greeting you. The food was delicious. I had the Pad You Kew which was a type of Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp with a flat rice noodle in a brown sauce. I really enjoyed it!. The dish had a lot of flavor to it due to the fish oil and soy sauce and was loaded with small pieces of chicken and shrimp and slivers of crisp vegetables. We also had a calamari for the table and the sweet sauce it was served with was excellent. A kind of chili duck sauce that I had never had before but it brought out the flavor of the sweetness of the fresh seafood. The service was very quick, friendly and they knew how to serve in such a tiny spot. I thought everyone was really helpful.

Cruising through Hell's Kitchen and stumbled upon 'this place, great find! Atmosphere was great, service prompt, friendly and food was fantastic. My wife had the spring rolls , a noodle dish and one other order that I can't remember. I had a spicyThai sausage and Pad Thai, delicious all around. I will be back!

Probably the best Thai food I've ever tasted. Pre-Christmas on a busy Saturday evening and after 15 calls to various highly rated restaurants, these guys managed to squeeze us on for a pre-theatre dinner and what a treat it was.

I'm going to review this with Room Service in mind. I'll just say it- wow, VIV wins. Decent noise level, much more tolerable than RS, attentive staff who checked on you, someone paid attention and gave you water as needed. The food quality wins also. And this is important - we didn't feel rushed and kicked to the curb as soon as we finished our food. Such a difference in environment and feeling. I would recommend VIV definitely over Room Service.

I LOVE Thai food. I've been to many Thai restaurants (only a few places in NYC), but V{IV} takes the cake. The restaurant is a bit dark, but has cool decor that includes a (paper?) dragon along the hallway ceiling. The Mieng Pla was an explosion of flavours, as were the two other dishes we had - the Avocado Massaman Curry and the Mataba. Each dish was cooked perfectly. This is a frontronner for my birthday celebration coming up!

I had been here before but decided on this recent rainy afternoon to stop in for lunch. I was seated immediately and water was brought to the table. I was given a menu and started to look it over-I decided on the Cashew King with shrimp. An appetizer came with this since this was part of the lunch special. Two spring roll came that were hot and delicious. My main course arrived in a short period of time-I usually get the drunken noodle dish but today decided to go with something different. The cashew king included a number of vegetables and an abundant number of shrimp. Pun Pun was my waitperson and was attentive and accommodating and the food was hot and delicious! I would recommend for both lunch and dinner since I have been here for both.

VIV is a small but awesome restaurant/bar, I decided to get together with about 10 friends for cocktails and some drinks, Tobby the bartender it’s amazing at his job, we didn’t have reservations but they made it possible for us towards the end of the night to sit down and have a great time, everyone at VIV is awesome.. Thank you!!

The place looks different from any other Thai restaurant I’ve been to and I decided to give it a try. The drinks were good and the dishes we I initially ordered were very good but as we ordered more dishes we started to get some disappointing dishes so I didn’t give it five stars. Also service was not great. They were rushed, made mistakes and often just ignored you as they were rushing up and down the restaurant. Definitely a sore point for this place.

Good Thai food, just slightly disappointed based on the rating. Spring Rolls were very good but Siamese Fried Rice was a little bland. The BBQ Ribs were good also. Guess I just expected a little more.

PROS Very good food and quantity is awesome. Service is nice also during COVID time. Price is aligned. CONS Need to visit the place to give 5, once everything will be finished (COVID) Dont’ miss it

Restaurant chosen by our New York friends. Bright atmosphere and high noise level are there. Wide choice of starters, salads, pastas… Quick service, the dishes are very good, the plate as a starter allows you to share different staters, the bowls of noodles are plentiful, be careful the red symbol indicates that it is spicy!

Don't be deceived by neon lights at entrance! The food was fantastic and very good service - surprised by the value too! How I wish I lived nearer to this restaurant!!!

Great service, excellent food! We ordered several dishes to share but I was very possessive about my green curry with beef, lol Highly recommend the Pad Thai; for a change we tried it with tofu and it was delicious! Chicken satay, pineapple fried rice, and spring rolls were all excellent. We’ll be back!

Another amazing Thai place in NYC. We had the spring rolls and fried dumplings - the red curry and the pad see ew - all were delicious and we left the places feeling extremely stuffed haha

Fantastic food in a cool environment. Perfect dinner after a wonderful day in New York. I can recommend this place to all Thai food lovers.

interesting decor and very good food choices. Items come out a bit on spicy side but everything we delicious. Would recommend.

The flavour of the food was wonderful!!! Lots of choices on the menu. Very busy for a Sunday night and good service.

While in NYC to visit our son, we went to VIV because we were hungry for Thai food. And my son and his roommate ate there before and recommended it. I am glad we did. We went in the late afternoon so it wasn't too crowded. I can't remember what the others had but they all enjoyed it. I had a dish with peanut sauce...delicious! And as far as service, well let's just say that our water NEVER got below 1/4 empty. I somehow dropped my fork, I went down to pick it up and before I could, they had another fork for me at the table. It seemed like we had our personal waiter! All reasonably priced.

Thai at its best! The menu has excellent and unique choices. The presentation of each dish is beautiful. Staff is very friendly and attentive.

The best Thai restaurant and the best drinks in Hell’s Kitchen. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is LGBT friendly.

Great traditional but not boring food!!!!! Great cocktails!!!! Great service!!!! Nice NYC ambient!! For couples, families, friends gathering…

The real name of this place is "V{iv}", not VIV. I was here for lunch and tried the Siamese Fried Rice with chicken from the Lunch Specials section of the menu. For $10, an appetizer was included, and I had the spring rolls. I added a glass of ginger ale for $2.00. There were two small spring rolls but the portion of the rice dish was very generous. The food was good, not great. I had never had Siamese Fried Rice before so it is hard for me to judge how this compares to the dish at other places. I certainly can't complain for the price - their lunch specials are a good deal. The interior is modern and dark. This is a good date place.

As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by this colorful dragon hung from the ceiling along the hallway. Ok, was it Chinese or Thai ? The menu is the usual Thai fare. We ordered the Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, Red Curry and Fried Rice. The Spring Rolls were unusual and seemed very greasy. The Pad Thai and Red Curry were good and nothing special. Their dessert menu is very sparse and they don't have the Sticky Sweet Rice with Mango. The service is fast and the ambience is very pleasant.

Gorgeous must visit. Decor inside is amazing. Went with a large group without reservation. Had to wait but it was so nice. Thai food great spot for supper.

Hubby spotted this place...firstly the member of staff that greet us gorgeous.music seductive relaxed sexy..a little dark and moody and then the food arrived strong flavours delicious delicate mouthwatering talapia..sweet chilli chicken.. tip..dont rush yourself...return here yesss please..

Enjoyed the food, but was expecting a bit more upscale hip environment honestly speaking. This is a very nice restaurent for a quick Asian/Thai meal. But by no means trendy.

we ordered take out one night. everything was delicious. we had spice fried rice and the spring rolls were long and thin and quite different from normal spring rolls. everything has tons of flavour and we would totally eat there again

Sensational food, great, just the right amount of spicy for European palates, if you like spicy food. Both the starters and main courses were an experience. Friendly service and exciting interior design complete the picture

Really liked this Thai. We have a wonderful Thai restaurant near our home so are pretty critical of others that don't quite match up. This was terrific though. The spring rolls are terrific and the curry really delicious. We had several meals here during our stay in NYC.

I found this restaurant in a TripAdvisor search close by to my hotel win times square. We turned up a little later than most would eat in NY but they were very accommodating. the food was great and one of the few Thai restaurants that actually make it spicy when you ask for it spicy. The service was great too and portion sizes were very good and very nice surroundings. My only negative if I had one is because we arrived later in the evening we felt a little rushed to leave as they wanted to clear up but we we later eating than we wanted to be.

Out Concierge recommended this and it was pretty special. Great New York Ambience. Fabulous food. Try the Satay sticks as an appetiser. Superb service.

From entering the restaurant the waiters are so attentive. From Filling your water glass constantly to warning that happy hour is about to finish if you wish to order more drinks. Food is delicious, fresh and flavoursome. Prices are very reasonable. Would recommend a visit.

Went here with my GF daughter--just in time for Happy Hour drinks--a great deal and delicious! Had the summer rolls--not too exciting, but fine. the veggie pad thai was wonderful--the red curry was delicious--though a smidge "soupy"--would have liked a few more veggies in there. Duck salad was flavorful. We will definitely come here again--great food and no worries about avoiding gluten.

Fun restaurant (we went to the east side location). Decor is funky and modern, but food dishes seemed pretty traditional. Seems like a good spot to just go to the bar, too.

Walked up on a busy Friday night and got an outdoor table. Very fast and friendly service. The pineapple fried rice (subbed tofu for the recommended shrimp) was wonderfully cooked and flavored, with a portion large enough that I couldn’t finish. We also had green curry with chicken, also excellent, with just the right amount of heat. The edamame appetizer was served hot and salty, perfect with very cold Singha Thai beer. We were glad to sit outside where it was quieter, but the decor inside looked pretty amazing. Would definitely return.

We were here for a family dinner this week and the food was amazing (green curry, red curry, pad Thai, 3 other spicy curries) and the service was fast and efficient including our reservation lady Som who was very welcoming. We paid USD 200 for the full meal including 3 cocktails and it was Uber value for money overall. I would high recommend visiting this restaurant - great ambience, mood lighting and interesting decor.

Have only been here for midweek lunch with friends, the decor & lighting make this a very intimate setting, with the concealed lighting and narrow dark wood panel walkway. 4 stars for the food, good though not outstanding. Worth a visit if you are hungry in Hell's Kitchen.

Excellent food at an affordable lunch-box price 12-2 weekdays. You can order from the menu as well, but you will find all your favorites here.

What a fantastic find this was! Massive portions and the food was so fresh and tasty! My chicken dish came as two chickens! The spring rolls were enormous! Generous cocktails as well. Staff were amazing, friendly and accommodating even though we were the “annoying customers” who came in just before kitchen closing time. The atmosphere and decor makes it feel very stylish and swanky. If you’re in the mood for Thai, head to V{IV} !!!

V{iv} is a lively bar and Thai restaurant. It has a nightlife scene feel to it with a well stocked cocktail bar. The menu is very good and the two dishes I had were excellent. I started with Chicken Satay and then had the Chicken Kee Mao Noodles which were delicious. I ate at the bar as there was a 30 minute wait for a table, and I am glad I did rather than go elsewhere as I really enjoyed my meal. It was reasonably priced as well at just US$25 for both courses (no drink). If you like Thai food and a place with a pulse you will like V{iv}.

Very good Thai food and atmosphere in Hell's Kitchen. Reasonably priced with good service. Extensive menu and all 4 things we ordered were well prepared.

Ordered a fried rice and it was one of the best tasting thai food I had ordered. Maybe the fact that I was very hungry made it feel even better but the quality was great. Location: easily accessible Ambience: very relaxing and cozy Service: Good and friendly Food choice: wide ranging with authentic thai cuisine Taste: very authentic and tasty Would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the midtown NYC area.

Food was excellent! Service was great. They have have great drinks for happy hour. Very friendly. I will return if the opportunity permits.

Trendy modern authentic Thai food. Highly recommend. Clean restaurant and service was quick. Brought a friend from Chicago and she liked it as well.

We walked in off the street to this place looking for a quick bite before the theatre. We are so glad we did. The Massaman with Avocado and Chicken on the bone was amazing. Everything was really tasty and nicely balanced. We also really enjoyed the cocktails. Service was attentive and friendly. A great find!

Extremely friendly wait staff very professional and great food! Taste like the water is filtered and cold. A rare find in NYC. Attention to details excellent.

Great service and food. Absoloutly worth visiting. Reasonable orive. I had a wok dish with duck. Never had a duck as soft and tender. My wife had a chicken. And it was great as well. We walked in from the street and felt nice at first sight. Wery friendly service, my glass of water never got empty, witch was great on this warm evening after a long walk around New York.

We in San Francisco are tragically deprived of this dish and we popped into VIV for a snack between other meals and were quite pleased. Very robust and different flavor profile than that served at Pure. I think I prefered VIV's. Will have to return for more dishes.

We visited the VIV twice, and both times we loved it. The waiters are quick and friendly, the soups are delicious and also the crispy calamari and the red curry with chicken where simply fantastic. So if you like to have Thai food in a fancy location- this is the place to go. Just one thing: as the place is alway crowded it is also pretty noisy.

We love this place. The food is great and all the staff are extremely friendly and nice. In addition they have nice cocktails. There is a great atmosphere and every time we go there we socialize with other customers!

Lovely spot with fun ambience, DELISH food and drinks, and amazing servers <3 would definitely come back!!

I was not disappointed by this midtown Thai spot. Excellent food and flavors. Very interesting decor, but it is a little dark inside. Definitely check it out - it’s a spot better for a date than a large group.

The restaurant doesn't look like much from the street but it has a neon, industrial look once you're seated. The food is very, very fresh Thai food. And the portions are good. The broccoli dish was tasty but they use the stalk of the broccoli rather than the florets.

Nice atmosphere and the people working there are always nice! Def my place to go eat Thai when in HK.

My daughter booked this spot for 7 of us. She lives nearby with her boyfriend .Delightful restaurant. Very friendly , helpful and attentive waitress and waiters. We all finished our dishes. The chicken was fresh and thinly slices. Not smothered in sauce. The stir fry veggies done to perfection. Very reasonably priced. Very neat and tidy busy kitchen just inside the door. Keep up the good work and keep dishing out tasty food. Well done.

NYC has some of the best thai food I've had anywhere in the world... I prefer it to Thailand even.... and VIV Thai delivers some great dishes. Everything we had tasted fresh, and great. We tried their chicken and shrimp fried wonton/dumplings and they were truly unique and amazing in taste. We also loved the recommendations from our waitress on a curry and their fried rice. The cocktails were quite decent too as we got them during hapoy hour. Overall it was an unforgettable experience. Will definitely go there again next time I am in NYC.

Called as rated well with trip advisor Fantastic Thai food the soups were amazing the best I have had.

Had a really great dinner here the other night while waiting for our Broadway show to start. We were seated right away and everyone was so friendly. The food was delicious. I got the spicy noodle kee-mao and asked for it mild. Thankfully I did because it still had a little kick to it! We also got the chicken satay as an app and it was also delicious. The music was great and loud and the decor was so fun! I wish I had more time/could have taken stuff home so I could have tried more. If you're in the area waiting for a show (or even if you're not) I definitely recommend trying this place.

The Tom Kha and Pad Thai are just amazing! Especially with shrimp. All the ingredients are super fresh. The service is friendly!

Nice place, good atmosphere, interesting menu. My Duck dish was well presented and tasty, my wife had the Tilapia which she said was nice but within 3 hrs of leaving she was violently sick. The fish was the only thing she ate different to me over the previous 2 days, so we are pretty sure it was the culprit. It was a shame as otherwise it was a good night.

We absolutely love the food and the staff at Viv Thai. We live 2 hours away but always come here whenever we go into Manhattan. Our favorites so far are the Queen of Siam basil, the basil fried rice, the shrimp and squid in basil (yes, we love Thai basil and they make it that good!), and the Penang curry. Their Thai iced tea is also delicious as are the chicken and shrimp dumplings. On our most recent trip we went for dinner one evening and went back for lunch 2 days later. Don’t waste your time and money elsewhere if you want real, delicious Thai food.

Viv was a great place for late Thai dinner. The noodles were tasty and they came out fast. The decor is fun, especially as you walk in! Service was good, I would definitely return.

We felt like Thai and ended up here. This is not very family friendly, and groups out for a drink will probably enjoy this place more. The food was good, but not outstanding at all, and it's quite annoying to get the entrees before we had finished the starters. Loud music.

The picture could easily put you off, but try it for the food. There is a nice bar area in the front and a small restaurant in the back, very friendly waiters and an interesting take on Thai food, very tasty. I tried the pineapple rice, which came in a half a pineapple!

Found this restaurant from the reviews on TA. We started off with the happy hour & then food, we had papaya salad & pad Thai along with the Martini's on happy hour, I tried 4 different flavours & they were all good, wait staff very nice & really good barman mixing the cocktails.

Highly attended business. Food was reasonable. I had rice and shrimp. Dish was served in half a pineapple. Bit weird presentation and hard to eat. Moreover, the dish tasted a bit boring. My table mates were also not very enthusiastic about their dishes. Control behaved very amicably. Until the tip was apparently a little disappointing, then we were barely worthy of a look. I really don't like that.

The joint was jumping ! Called ahead because the waitlist was closed, but the woman urged us to 'just come by'. SO glad we did. Red curry was perfectly spiced and quite flavorful. The fried tofu appetizer was delicious ( not greasy ) the best I've ever had - served with a Sriracha spicy sauce. The simple things are hard to get right - and VIV gets high marks all around. Reasonably priced menu and the service is helpful and upbeat.

Thai restaurant with well deserved high ratings and reasonable pricing. Spiciness is not toned down but appropriate for Thai cuisine.

I love Viv. They have a great menu and the best pad Thai in NYC. Super cute ambiance, and a great daily happy hour. Try a Lychee Martini you won't be disapointed!

Visited the West Side restaurant in early December and we stopped by for a happy hour drink. Owen, the bartender was great and very friendly. Other patrons at the bar were pleasant as well. Reasonably price happy hour drinks (happy hour ran until 8pm) led us on to have dinner at the bar. Tables were available, but the ambience of the bar was worth continuing. A shared calamari starter (delicious) was followed by Volcano Chicken ($19), a marinated Cornish hen topped with Thai herbs & BBQ sauce served with greens & jasmine rice. My companion enjoyed Cashew King with chicken ($13.95), chicken with roasted cashew nuts, onions, scallions, pineapple, bell peppers & carrots. Both meals were fantastic and portions were very good. Such a great retreat from the general restaurant prices in NYC. That all the staff (and the regular patrons) were so friendly was an added bonus!

There must be thousands of restaurants in new york and we chose to eat here twice. The menu isn't too extensive but I would say that hones in the quality. I had squid and green curry and then the massaman on the second visit. My wife returned mostly for the spring rolls. I also liked that we weren't rushed to much here as with most places in the city. Service was efficient but unobtrusive. Welcoming and engaging enough to feel appreciated. Although the tables were quite close together the ambience and lighting made it intimate and relaxed. All the best for the future

This a a small restaurant located on 9th avenue so it's within walking distance from Times Square. It has a lovely menu a wide choice of meals. We ordered our starter and main course and drinks we were served our starters which we shared the main course was served before we finished our starter mind it was the last mouthful. The food was hot and well presented.

We loved it! Lunch or dinner in NY is almost impossible because between finding a good place and paying exorbitant prices it takes you away from hunger! Tell us won this restaurant and we got it right: impeccable service, exquisite food and not excessive price. If I repeat you again for sure!

This an nearby Obaho are my top favorites in the Hell's Kitchen area, if not worldwide. Food is excellent, service unbeatable, and, yes, they do home delivery. Only point of criticism: The music is way to loud, you do not understand your own word.

Stopped in for lunch. The place was busy but very nice, clean and friendly staff. Ordered the lunch special, red curry. The flavor was very good, but had few vegetables and was mostly meat. I would have preferred lots more veggies and just a taste of the meat. Definitely go again.

My husband and I walked by looking for a place for a drink and after our martini and sake, ended up staying for the food. The atmosphere is fun and shiny, the waitstaff friendly, chicly dressed and really on top of things. We ordered three appetizers and they ended up being possibly the best Thai food we've tasted. We sampled the chive "pancakes" which ended up being thick crispy triangles with melt-in-your-mouth centers; the sausage, a northern Thai specialty, which with chili pepper and lemongrass was like nothing else I've ever tasted--wow; and crispy fish which are whole little silver fish, basically like calamari. A little loud, but populated with extremely happy patrons! We'll be back.

Really good food and excellent value for money.Great modern decor with an overall good vibe about the place. Not an authentic Thai feel about the place as it was very modem but the food was good traditional dishes.

Sipping delicious cocktails in this dark and stylish restaurant before LOADS of rich, tasty and sometimes a little messy food arrived. Attentive service provided finger bowls.

Selected based on search engine stars, and got lucky. Delicious food, the tom kha gai was the best I've had in my life. Curry was excellent. Cocktails were excellent. My date was experiencing Thai for the first time and the wait staff were super helpful and patient explaining the menu and choices. Highly recommend.

Drink is amazing! Covid safe is appreciated! Food is on the way! So hip and fun atmosphere service is very good! Will be back!

Found this place on the off chance, does not look special on the outside but the interior is quirky and the food is incredible. Red curry was superb. Will return!

I was staying down the road and this restaurant was recommended to me. Walking in I was greeted by a friendly host and the interiors are very trendy. I was seated near the window so I could people watch. I ordered a soup, pork ribs & a Cosmopolitan. The portions are very generous, the food delicious and the drinks strong! The fellow guests were a good crowd and great music was played. All in all it was a well priced and good quality meal!

The restaurant had great ambience and very good food! Perfect for sharing with a group. We didn't expect much when we were seated but was very pleased with the service and the food.

Food was delicious, Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. Service was attentive and helpful. Would visit this restaurant again

Debated leaving after walking through the door to the smell of cheesy feet - but decided to persevere as reviews seemed very good and we really fancied Thai! Ordered 2 starters, one of which earned the single star for this review - the other.... After our starter was literally stripped from the table whilst still eating (chicken satay still in hand whilst waiter has cleared both plates!) Both mains were nothing as described and we nearly questioned if we had received someone else’s order. The jasmine rice was so bad, Just a ball of misery. However, We did enjoy the waiter hovering over us the entire meal 🤥 Making us feel on edge and very hurried, even though it was 4pm and there was only a handful of other people in the whole restaurant!! Despite the incredible service mentioned above, We decided not to leave a 20% tip - which led to the waiters and other staff members moaning between themselves and being rather rude about us - some of us Westerners speak Thai 😉 Just to mention - we always tip. I understand you can always have the ‘perfect meal’ every time, but when every aspect of the experience is beyond awful - what do you really expect? Guess what? We won’t be back.
Best Thai around
Lovely Thai meal on our last night in New York. We stumbled across this place when we walked passed so dropped in for a cocktail for happy hour. The smell of the food and the lovely staff were enough to make us come back. Food was delicious, one of the best Thais we have had and the staff were all lovely, friendly & attentive.
