Valerie is a great spot for a late night bite and a drink! The atmosphere is really beautiful and the gin menu is unmatched. It's also very close to Times Square without feeling too touristy. My husband had the Earl Grey martini and said it was one of the best cocktails he has ever had. I had the "She's a keeper" and it was really refreshing and a great price I think. My one complaint is that the music was very loud at times, but maybe I'm just getting old lol! We will definitely visit again the next time we are in town.

Brunch at Valerie was fantastic—made unforgettable by Colton’s exceptional service. He felt like our own personal bartender, anticipating our needs with charm and professionalism. Pair that with delicious food, smooth jazz, and a stunning interior, and Valerie is a must-visit. If you’re lucky enough to be served by Colton or Jay, you’ll see why we keep coming back!

The wife and I were in the city for a wedding and stopped in at Valerie for Sunday Brunch. I was a great experience. The ambiance had a very flapper, 20's vibe to the place. The restaurant had live music playing, which were phenomenal. Service was great. I highly recommend the Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict, very tasty and fresh.

We ate lunch on a recent Monday. The restaurant is lovely, with 1920s Great Gatsby decor reflected in everything from the wallpaper to the metal staircase railings. It's sumptuous and beautiful with the bar the center of the show. We ate off the bar in a side room that is cozy and gorgeously styled, but the tables are very near each other and we sat next to some obnoxiously loud women who wouldn't stop talking about insurance claims. I now know all I ever needed to know about them. Beware that you'll become intimate with your neighbors. Thankfully a very large group of people came in and drowned that woman and her intern out. The food is good, though not amazing. The truffle fries taste like what you expect, though not crispy as you'd imagine. The fiend chicken sandwich was good, as was the Mediterranean salad (note: it comes with banana peppers which are not mentioned on the menu).

Popped into Valerie on a work trip with a couple of colleagues, our concierge recommended it for cocktails and a decent happy hour. And to be fair, it delivered—great drinks menu with some fun and creative options and oysters were on special, so naturally we did the only sensible thing and ordered 18. No regrets there. The space itself is stylish and perfect for after-work drinks or a weekend crowd. But the acoustics are absolutely shocking. Once the place filled up and happy hour hit its stride, it was full-on club-level volume. We ended up shouting across the table but did find it a little quieter upstairs. Not ideal when you’re trying to have any kind of conversation that doesn’t involve yelling your drink order. So, great spot for a drink and a dozen oysters—just don’t come expecting to chat about business when it’s busy.

I would have never expected a rude manner in a highly rated place like this. It was not even 12:00am and the barman was apparently “unable” to give a glass of Prosecco. What type of bar has such a slack of a manager, and rude staff that claims to be doing their job 20 mins before midnight and cannot serve me my order? This is the most outrageously disgusting staff I have ever encountered, as a person who travels for an agency and lived in New York all my life. Horrible.

Valerie is located close to the Times Square/Theater District area so it is easy to walk over to catch a show. Street parking is less of a challenge in the evening after 8 pm but still a challenge. When you enter Valerie, you are met by an open area with a bar on the left with shelves reaching the second level. There is table seating toward the back and upstairs; it was the former that we were escorted to for our dinner. The room was small and seating was tight; the wood paneling made it feel cozy. It is an area which would work for small private parties. Our server worked her way around the tight quarters to bring us menus and take our drink orders; my cocktail could not be ordered since they ran out of an ingredient but at least they had a favorite brand of beer. Our appetizer of beef steamed buns were amazing--the right touch of spicy and sweet and warm. My wife's steak entree was prepared to her liking and she relished every forkful; I had a fantastic scallop dish with a black rice risotto which was undeniably tasty and filling. When we left Valerie we were floored by the size of the after-work crowd enjoying their happy hour. This newish establishment had apparently found its mojo! Nice dining experience!

We looked online for an interesting restaurant in Midtown for Sunday dinner, found Valerie and booked a table through Valerie's website/Open Table for 3 people. Received an email AND a text confirming our reservation. When we got to the restaurant, imagine our dismay at finding it closed! It would have been nice to inform potential guests of the closing on your website and reservation page! Luckily, we found an adorable and delicious alternate restaurant. Communication is everything!

Nice and cozy place, suitable for meeting with friends or for a couple dinner. We've been there a couple of times for dinner. The menu is quite varied and the food is good. This place is very popular especially after work for happy hour.

LOUD, very, very LOUD. Do not expect to carry on a dinner conversation, shouting will be required. Need some acoustic panels or baffles. Menu is lacking on choice or inventiveness, drink list was a book, ridiculous and sad. Food was flavorless, not just an appetizer or entree or two; we kept asking each other if there was flavor to any dish. Salt and pepper was no help. Nothing impressive about the food. Plates were only picked at. When asked how things were and offering our opinion we never saw the server again, only a busser anxious to clear plates Service was labored and not worthy of finer dining, server couldn't hear us. Delivery was helicoptered and windmilled to the table unaware of seat numbers. The interior looks pretty...only positive. AVOID.

Looks a great restaurant from outside but staff unfriendly and extremely overpriced. Went with the family and pushed to a side table and ignored for 20 mins. Tried to speak to the staff and arrogant and dismissive - Lots of better options nearby !

My wife and I stumbled onto Valerie and were so happy we went two nights in a row. A fun, busy happy hour crowd in the bar and great decor and ambiance in the dining rooms. Service was excellent. All the food we ate was delicious and nicely presented. Check out the menus on line. Reasonable prices and good value. We’ll be back!

Nice looking, good place for a drink at the bar. Good value considering that you can pay about the same for much worse experience in NYC.

Took a visit to Valerie’s for Sunday brunch with my wife. Was the finish of our weekend in the city. The space is very beautiful and large. It is decorated wonderfully, with lots of tile, wood, granite and glass. The bar is enormous and is very welcoming. During the brunch we were entertained by a superb jazz band. With the beautiful day underway, the front door stayed open and the sound was great. We were immediately presented with fresh crisp biscuits and blackberry jam. Our brunch was delicious, the drinks flowed along with our food. I had the croque with an sunny side egg and salad. My wife had the crab cake and poached egg meal, also with salad. The salad was dressed lightly and everything was great. Coffee was a little disappointing, very strong, many grinds. We made reservations, but think we could have been seated without them. Drop by for a chill brunch.

We decided to go out after the wedding reception and party across the street to Valaria’s bar, we did try out a couple of their appetizers and I must say hands-down the bartender made the best vodka tonic that we have ever had. I recommend this little bar reminds me of a neighborhood bar where everybody knows your name we were in New York for about seven days and the bartender always remember us when we went back. This was kind of our hang out after we finish going out and about exploring in New York it would always end up for an after drink at Valaria‘s bar truly recommend this bar you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful atmosphere, very lively in the evening. Good beers and good cocktails. Excellent food. The NY steak is magnificent and the home fries exceptional. Prices are high but worth it.

Good vibes and very good food. The home made flatbread with Advocado is just amazing. A bit noisy, but very good quality and nice setting.

Had an amazing brunch here. All the food was delicious; I’m particularly remembering the Korean chicken on a waffle. Good drinks too and very good service. Recommended, at least for a Sunday brunch.

Really disappointed with our experience at Valerie. This place was recommended by a friend and our group was so excited to go here for drinks after an amazing meal a few doors down at the Dawson. Upon arrival we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated although the place was nearly empty. Hostess was rude and despite there being a number of tables free, they told us they couldn’t seat our group of 10 at a booth which could have comfortably sat most of us and the rest didn’t mind standing. We were told we could stand at the bar. Expectations were still high only to be further disappointed by the bar staff. They were incredibly rude and did not greet us, instead throwing menus down on the counter in front of us. There was no atmosphere here and it really put a dampener on our celebrations. We ordered 1 drink each and quickly finished them so we could leave. The business lost a good sale here because we would have spent a lot of money had we felt more welcomed. The venue was nicely decorated but the staff ruined it. The owners clearly invested a lot of money in decor but this would have been better spent training their staff in customer service.

My husband and I popped in here on the off chance and were very happy with what we found. Gorgeous bar, happy hour drinks and a brilliant bartender (Brendan) who made me two cocktails off menu which were the best cocktails I’d had all week- delicious!

After attending Operation Mincemeat at the Golden Theater, we strolled right up 45th Street to Valerie. The front bar section was packed at 5 pm. But they gave us a table in the back room where we wanted to go anyway after promising to be done by 6:30. That was perfect for us. The drinks, appetizer, and flatbread were all well-made and hit the spot. Great service in a classy room.

We booked this place in advance but it was really quiet on the day, I assume due to the parade and the road being closed. I was surprised though there were not many bookings. However no need to be concerned as the food was great. I ordered the Lobster roll but when I was to,d the corn was already premixed into the filling I had to change my order. The lobster came with chips which sounded nice so I asked could I have these instead of fries to then see an additional charge on the bill. Not transparent and not good service. Both chicken sandwiches were tasty and the fries were good. The mimosa we had to start tasted a bit weak, more OJ than anything. Overall OK but a few tweaks needed.

Incredible from the moment we walked in and to the last bite. Ambience piqued our interest and the food and service did not disappoint. The Diver Scallops were so incredible and cooked to perfection. The service from our waiter, Brendan, could not have been better. Both desserts, the Affogato and Smores Bar, were exquisite. The noise level was energetic but not too loud. The lighting was dim and forgiving without being too low. We were in and out without feeling rushed and had plenty of time to get to our show. Can hardly wait to come back.

This was a very pretty restaurant that was very nicely decorated for the holidays. The server was nice, friendly and attentive. The food was great. The only minor complaint is that the lighting was nice – not too light and not too dark and then someone decided to turn the lights way down. I then requested that they be turned up a bit and the server turned them up again. But there were several times that the lights went dim and then brighter again, probably as someone turned them down and then someone else back up. But again, this was minor. All in all, we really enjoyed the restaurant.

Lovely dinner at this beautiful restaurant. The food and wine was delicious - steak was cooked to perfection and all was reasonably priced. Particularly liked the Gatsby themed room. I would definitely recommend.

The space is beautiful and the drinks are fantastic. We really like gin and were intrigued by the creative G&Ts. We branched out to their other cocktails and enjoyed every single one. We had a snack plate that was lovely. We visited the second night we were in NYC and enjoyed it so much, we came back the next night. I know there are a lot of great bars in NYC--I'm looking forward to coming back here.

This is a great place to come for Happy Hour, and the pace really picks up after 5:30. I had a really tasty oyster dish for only $1/oyster (see photo), and a yummy salmon entree that was also well-presented and delicious. Although I'm not much of a gin fan, this place has an incredible number of different gins and cocktails containing it. Highly recommended before a theatre date.

Such a beautiful place and was walking distance from our hotel at times square. We had my husband and myself and two teenagers. Everything was great. My son had the steak and loved it. I had the flatbread and my husband had the pasta. Very good and nice atmosphere.

This spot is excellent for a well curated cocktail list along with fantastic aesthetics. The gin and tonics are out of this world. Spicy and Pollinator are high on our must return and have again lists. Bartenders quite knowledeable and personable.

Perfect setting to go out with the girlfriends. Cocktails are very innovative and tasty, and there are lots of great small plates to share. I really liked the flatbreads and duck wings. The ambience is hip and trendy as well.

We were visiting NYC over the Christmas holiday and took our two teenage daughters to dinner at Valerie not far from where we were staying in Time Square. The place has a beautiful bar and a cozy back room along with an upstairs dining area. Of course we were there during the holidays so it was festively decorated, but the place itself has really cool classic style with awesome lighting and a cool hip vibe. The service was very good, everyone was friendly and attentive and we enjoyed everything we ordered. The tuna tartare appetizer was delicious as was the baby gem ceasar salad. My daughter had the steak frites entree which was cooked perfectly and my husband ordered the short ribs which were very tasty. All in all, we enjoyed everything that was ordered and would definitely go back again the next time we visit NYC.

What a gem! This place was a great find. My partner and I were in town over Presidents' Day Weekend and grabbed drinks with a friend who works in Bryant Park. It was a quick walk (a little over 5 minutes) to Valerie and we arrived during their happy hour. Off the bat, the ambiance at this place is really spectacular. It's chic and inviting, and immediately makes you feel at home. We only had time to grab drinks, and I ordered the gin & tonic on the happy hour menu. This was no ordinary gin & tonic. This gin & tonic was in one word: SPECTACULAR. To begin with, it was crisp, smooth, and full of fresh fruit. They were also very generous with their portions, and for the happy hour price it might be one of the best drink deals in town. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here. Everyone in our group loved their drinks and the whole vibe of the space. Would highly recommend Valerie, and would absolutely go back again if we're ever in New York.

This place is quite recently opened and we only visited because quite near to our hotel and had seen it advertised in the local Time Out magazine. Advertised as a cocktail bar so we assumed a relatively sophisticated and casual experience. Perhaps hope for something quieter on a Thursday evening but when we arrived on spec the queue at the bar was long and the decibel level high. We were quickly ushered to a table upstairs in a pretty small dining area - not clear whether diners or drinkers come first here. Low ceilings and a few rowdy groups meant also impossible to converse easily. We were probably the oldest people in the place so maybe our hearing skills a bit lacking, or perhaps everyone else communicating by phone! Fairly standard NY menu with plenty to choose from and our flatbreads and chicken were reasonable enough and came pretty quickly. We left fairly quickly though as eardrums struggling and were tired anyway after a heavy day of walking. Friendly service of course, and the couple next to us were also so friendly that they sat next to (on top of) each other rather than opposite each other - perhaps it was so they could hear themselves think!

Great art deco place with Christmas ambience and lighting. We got a reservation for before 5 pm on Friday through OpenTable. Our driver was delayed due to traffic and we communicated through the app. The hostess responded right away with no issues. We were seated. We had prompt service. Food does come out fast so pace your orders between drinks and appetizers and dinner. Two of us had the black truffle pasta and 2 had the roasted chicken. Both were exceptional. For the black truffle pasta, make sure you like that before ordering. We had truffle fries and calamari for appetizers and both were cooked spot on. We were recommended this by a friend and she didn't miss a beat.

Went for a drink and dessert after seeing a show as the restaurant looked like a nice place to hang out. The place is very nice but the cost of drinks and dessert were even more than I would think for NYC. $19.00 for a small Martini was crazy and the desserts tasted like something you would get at a gas station. Not worth the money.

This place is an established drinks bar , with specialty in gin. Service was good on a Saturday afternoon. Drinks fantastic, bu do expect to pay premium for drinks quality and service. Would come back during happy hour for 1 dollar oyster.

I love the vibe here. The atmosphere and ambiance is everything—very cool and modern, but with a slight “prohibition-style” twist. The cocktails are wicked good—and strong. When it came to ordering food, I wanted everything on the menu but settled for the fluke hamachi, hot spinach & artichoke dip, homemade truffle gnocchi pasta, and the NY strip steak with chimichurri sauce and truffle fries. I ate all of it—everything—not a single bite left. Absolutely delicious. The servers were also great—very knowledgeable with respect to the menu and made great cocktail recommendations. Checked in on us often to make sure we were having an enjoyable experience and kept our drinks full. What more can you ask for?

this restaurant space is absolutely beautiful and owned by a bunch of nice Irish men. the food is average and the service is pretty good except for the one bartender that was too busy and chatty to get you a drink. 10 minutes after asking for our order he finally came back to start to make the drink. the bolognese was quite good. the shrimp wrapped in dough was a little mushy and mealy inside and had little flavor. thank goodness they had a sweet and sour sauce on the side. the beet salad was vey good. the beer and wine selection are very good and reasonably priced. the table service was very good. i think once this new place finds it's footing it will a great place to stop for food and drinks.

Chosen by name (after all, also the name of our youngest daughter) and before we started the trip to Europe again we had a 'farewell brunch' here (only sat and so). And that was not a disappointment, quite the contrary. Nice cocktail bar (but it was lunchtime) but immediately after 11AM flooded with more people enjoying the most delicious lunch dishes there (ok, with Mimosa anyway....). Super attentive service.

We had Thanksgiving dinner at Valerie and it was perfect! The ambiance, staff, and food were all superb. We had a large group and the restaurant accommodated us in a nice private room. It was a perfect evening in NYC.

Had a nice lunch here. It looks like they have a very nice bar. Service was excellent, food was good & the place was super cute.

Good decor and music but not a genuine cocktail bar. I got served a negroni from a tap on the bar and when I said I'd prefer one freshly made, the reaponse I got was "it'll taste the same, it's gin, vermouth and campari". Two things on this; I know what the ingredients are and if your negroni making game is of the same standard as something that comes out of a tap, you need to work on your negroni making game. My response was "don't worry about it" which then led to an exchange where my previously dismissive server asked if I wanted a fresh one. Being British and in company, I didn't point out that this was exactly what I had just bloomin asked for but instead said "no, it's fine". Net result is this review and me not going back again. Both of which could have been avoided by the initial answer to my request being "sure, no problem," but there we are.

Had a lovely evening meal here after a trip to the theatre. Nice choice on the menu and a daily 'special' on offer. It's a nicely laid out restaurant and bar. The food was great. So tasty and nicely presented. If there's a slight issue then the lighting was a touch too subdued for us (had to get the phone torch to read the menu!) but that's better than being too bright.

Good for drinks and people watching if you are into crowds. Far too noisy to enjoy a meal upstairs, this is all about the cocktails.

Great place for a drink, really friendly bar team. Skilled cocktail barman, he even created a new whisky cocktail for me. Really fun bar.

On a rainy and cool October Sunday, Brunch at Valerie was cozy and delicious. We had arrived earlier than our reservation, and were immediately seated. We began with cocktails and agreed that the hands down winner was the Paisley Fields with hints of "sweet" and "heat." Biscuits for the table were light and fluffy. The fried Korean chicken was amazing - crunchy and sweet - with a very decadent cornbread waffle. The smoked salmon benedict was ethereal, with crepes that had an abundance of smoked salmon, yet the orange essence sang through. Service was attentive and gracious, but we also felt comfortable lingering before heading out into the rain.

Met a friend for drinks here and absolutely loved it! The restaurant itself is gorgeous and my drinks were great - had a cocktail and a mocktail and both were delicious. Will be back!

I took my special guy here after we saw a Broadway show and we both enjoyed our delicious steak dinners very much. The service was polite and efficient and the ambience was very attractive. Glad I reserved us a table for 2 here. It’s definitely a destination for a successful date night. Thanks.

Some of the best, most creative food I've eaten in NYC! Spectacular appetizers (easily the best way to make a full meal!), excellent wait staff, and a very convenient location to the theater district. I would suggest avoiding the (very noisy) bar area if you want to be able to talk to your table companions. The food was really excellent!

This is a spacious, friendly restaurant in the theater district. Service was good. Food was good. I found it on Open Table and were able to get in before our show.

Recommended by a local this saved an otherwise disastrous day. Good cocktails, good food & open late. Nice French brasserie ambience/set up. Good crab cakes & very good chicken. Large portions if you're European.

Was in NYC for vacation and found this spot for dinner and cocktails after a Broadway show. Very easy to make a reservation. Upon first impression the interior is beautiful, only a few blocks from Broadway Shows. Service was fantastic, and so were the cocktails. The server was very helpful with their cocktail menu. Their signature gin and tonics were recommended and delicious. Highly recommend

Food was very good and service was outstanding! They got us in quickly and were so attentive. So glad we found this gem! 10/10

If you're looking for an affordable pre-matinee brunch/lunch away from the crowds, this is the spot. Two couples enjoyed a generous cheese and veggie omelet, grilled chicken breast on a brioche (one with salad, one with fries) and Salmon Eggs Benedict - not your typical recipe-smoked salmon and lightly cooked eggs, small crepes with thin fresh apple slices replace the English muffin, fresh greens in citrus dressing replace the heavy hollandaise. Family-friendly ( unless you're the parents of a wild child or two), good service. Nice but not special occasion. Our New York cousins who were with us said the prices were cheap by New York standards. Check on line to see if your pocketbook agrees. We're from Baltimore and thought the prices very fair. Escape Times Square insanity and gouging prices for blah food - worth walking an extra few blocks to the theater.

Absolutely perfect. Excellent service, super attentive and the food was amazing!! The drinks were yummy. Prices are what you’d expect here. The menu isn’t huge BUT there’s something for everyone! I really was super impressed. Oh and the ambiance- live music for brunch and a cool vibe. Excellent brunch!

The pretties Christmas deco in NY’s restaurants we’ve seen. Great oyster happy hour deals and cocktail selection. Food was good as well. Would definitely go back again!

The positive: nice decor, good drinks, good bartenders. The negative: brusque and rude wait staff. Like, actively rude!

Good vibes and very good food. The home made flatbread with Advocado is just amazing. A bit noisy, but very good quality and nice setting.

Midtown is sport of a weird area and the closer you get to Times Square the worst all of it becomes. Valerie was a nice surprise in that area and the cocktails were amazing. I also had a flatbread that blew my mind. I will definitely be returning before the end of my trip!

The Friday after work bar area is crowded and noisy. The restaurant honored our pre-theatre reservation and seated us in a quieter room in the back of the first floor (there also is dinner seating upstairs). The cocktail menu has several interesting and tasty options. Every plate that we ordered was very good. The charcuterie board and black fig flatbread were favorites. We will return.

Tucked in Midtown Manhattan, Valerie masterfully blends contemporary American cuisine with an impressive cocktail program in a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. The combination of well-executed food, expert cocktails, and elegant ambiance makes it a standout in Midtown's competitive dining scene. Here's a fun, personal take on Valerie. So there I was, rolling into Valerie with my friends, thinking "Oh great, another Midtown spot that's gonna give us attitude and tiny portions." Boy, was I wrong! First off, our server (who had the energy of a Broadway performer on opening night) actually treated us like we were VIPs, not just another group of hungry New Yorkers. They were so attentive, I think they knew I was thinking about a drink refill before I did! Best part? Unlike most Midtown restaurants where you need to sell a kidney to afford dinner, the prices here are actually... reasonable? (Did I just use "reasonable" and "Midtown" in the same sentence? Yes, yes I did.)

My husband and I came in for the weekend and ate lunch here on a Monday. It was fairly busy and we were seated in a side room with the most beautiful art deco furnishings. The food was tasty, the servers were efficient, and we loved the look of the place. We will definitely be back!

Due to the size of my party (10) I was directed to Valerie's coordinator via email. I emailed on May 25 for a Jun 7 reservation. I called on May 27 to see if my reservation was confirmed and was told that if I didn't hear back from the coordinator, to call again the following Wed, but that Jun 7 at 6:30 should be fine. Called again On Jun 1, and was told to wait until Friday Jun 3. Getting nervous about this time... I emailed again on Jun 3 and got a response stating "We are all booked for Jun 7." I replied , "Thank you so much for confirming. See you on Tuesday." I didn't receive anything more. So 10 of us arrive at 6:30 on Jun 7 and we were told that we didn't have a reservation. I showed the 3 girls at the hostess station the email. They were unapologetic, condescending and told us that they could fit us in at 9pm. Worst reservation experience ever. At best, their "coordinator" needs a lesson in communications and responsiveness.

Cool and trendy bar in midtown. Very loud but ok. Ordered food and one cocktail and the food arrived within 10 mins and after another 20 minutes I had to ask where the cocktail was where I was told it was being made. Drink arrived as we were half way through our meal.

I had a fantastic experience when dining at Valerie in midtown NYC. The hostess, Maddie, was a delight; she quickly ushered us to our table, where the server, Tulin, introduced herself and took over. The cocktails were out of this world, and the food was well presented and delicious. Highly recommend.

Following a friend's suggestion, we visited Valerie for an early Saturday evening dinner. Diners are greeted by an impressive bar. We were led to a cozy table on the main level and discovered the enormous cocktail menu--so many fun choices. The dinner menu is concise but has creative, yummy offerings. My pistachio-crusted halibut was the star. Also enjoyed the avacado hummus. Friendly, attentive service. It's our new favorite spot in midtown!

We had a leisurely Sunday brunch with friends at Valerie. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas. There was a live jazz band playing in the bar that added to the ambiance without being intrusive. The food was typical Brunch fare, no surprises but it was fresh and delicious.

Me and my wife found this bar and enjoyed our time at Valerie drinking a cocktail. Fantastic setting and very kind staff!

Went here for Sunday brunch with friend before a Broadway show. The atmosphere was great especially with good live music. The menu and food were very good. I had the Korean chicken which was flavorful. One of my friends had a salad - she said it was fine but not spectacular. The service was so-so — not as attentive as I’m accustomed to. My water glass sat empty.

Nice place with a cozy appearance but unfortunately noisy (like many other restaurants in NYC). However, we ate well there. The welcome was warm and friendly. A good address in the end, a few minutes from Times Square, but on a quiet street.

I had the signature Valerie burger, my wife had the Wild King Ora Salmon and they were both delicious. The Tuna tartar was incredible.

Nice place in NY! Lots of drinks, delicious food, super relaxed atmosphere! I recommend to go couple and friends! Bar and restaurant!

A broad range of brunch options--both sweet and savory--at a convenient midtown location. Also a great place for lunch or a pre-theatre meal.

Went here for lunch for the first time. Great location in midtown. The food, service and ambiance were excellent. Will definitely come here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brunch at Valerie. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. It was a very short walk from the Marriott Marquis and was a wonderful find as most of the restaurants in the Times Square area are not of this quality. I highly recommend it.

This comfortably dark bar and restaurant in busy Midtown offers an appealing lunch menu. We were there with a friend and we all ordered salads. The others had different versions with ahi tuna, and I went for a more traditional Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Portions were generous and very good, and we had plenty to eat. Our server was new, but checked up on us frequently. We got there at noon and it was delightfully quiet. Forty-five minutes later, we were surrounded by tables of young professionals who were loud talkers. Little in the way of noise dampening in the space. My advice, do go, but reserve early if you want to hear yourself and your companions!

It was early and across the street from our hotel so we stopped for just a drink. Great bar, good selection, several beers on tap and a good wine selection. Pkeasant bartender.

We were in New York for a show and football game and thought Valerie's would be a good place for our pre-show dinner. Great choice, the food was great and the drink menu was outstanding. The gin and tonic selection was one of the best I've seen in sometime. The place was packed but we still had a great time. I suggest you make reservations and request a table up stairs.

Great location on 45th bt 5th & 6th. A very nice and extensive gin list and a large variety of gin cocktails. Other alcohols are available too. Nice atmosphere and interior.

We had brunch at this place because this one was close to the hotel my friend was staying. Both of us had french toast. Food was just average. Portion was small. Atmosphere was good, but we were seated at side table to next to stairs because they said other tables were all booked. Nothing special.

Came for drinks and snacks after a show. The service was friendly and the specialty cocktails were very good. They had an amazing gin library on display on the bar and detailed on the menu, with many G&T options. The shared plates were generously sized and tasted great. Did not try any entrees. Good spot - would definately come back again.

This place was fun, great people watching and great oysters (we love our oysters). Get there early it gets crowded fast.......looking forward to coming back. This felt like a locals place after work, not a touristy place (so don't tell anyone about it :)

Beautifully presented restaurant (amazing back bar set up) with really good food (the half roasted chicken was delicious) but unfortunately the service let it down. We moved as the air conditioning unit was draughty and our second server wasn’t attentive throughout. We ordered more drinks from the server who brought our meals out (because no one else had asked and our glasses were empty) and when they hadn’t arrived, we caught the attention of our server, who asked who we had ordered with and when we told her, she said ‘oh, he’s the food runner’ and went off to see where our drinks were. She didn’t chat with us and was actually quite rude with bringing the bill and saying nothing. I was still chewing my food when another sever came and took my partners plate away (he had finished), asking ‘are you finished here’, so I said yes and he took both the plates.

A trendy, popular place with lots of people at the bar and in the restaurant The food is delicious, the menu is short but each dish is very good... I recommend it for both family and business purposes

We also had a very nice dinner upstairs before the show. If you get there early enough they have a great happy hour and delicious oysters very reasonably priced. The pork Belly Bao also was spot on. The free range chicken was moist and delicious and my partner had the hanger steak. Our server Chelsea was very good. It is quite noisey with a packed bar upstairs and down so if you want quiet this isnt the place but our small party of two had a delightful early dinner and were out with plenty of time to walk to the show. Will definitely return soon.

Wonderful space that fills up fast after work at 5. We came for the happy hour drinks and oysters at the bar. Did not disappoint!! Great bartender and very fun atmosphere!

I went to Valerie for the second time on a Sunday with my mom. We were seated in the quieter area in the back in a small room with amazing art. The waitress was very helpful and we felt she really gave us her honest opinion about the food and drink options. We ordered the Chardonnay by the glass, it was absolutely perfect. The tuna tartar is one of the best I've ever had, the heatichokes hearts were delicious and the cesar was also very very good. Would absolutely come back.

Went to Valerie one early evening on a Wednesday in May. While the service and food were very good, it was disappointing that the music was very loud. It was hard to talk and hear others at our table.

We happened upon Valerie while walking near our hotel, looking for somewhere to have brunch that would't require reservations. It was quite late - almost 2.30pm but the hostess welcomed us warmly and seated us in a very interesting inner dining room with some unusual features. The decor in the main entry bar area is filled with light and a huge tall bar with almost a stained glass feel. There is an upstairs level although it was closed - we sat on banquettes in the downstairs fining area which had interesting murals and lighting. Our food and drink was served quickly and was delicious and we made a note to add Valerie to our New York restaurant rotation.

Very cute place. Since it was slow they were closing early which was surprising to hear in the heart of NYC. Nice selection of drinks on the menu but they were out of some that we tried to order. They have live music some nights but we had just missed it as he was packing up when we arrived.

I only visited for a quick drink on the way back to my hotel but ended up returning on several occasions. The bar is very stylish and the drinks prices are the same as the other bars on the street, definitely worth a visit if passing by.

Very hip, exceptional cocktails, and better-than-expected food. We are likely returning tonight after Book of Mormon. Highly recommended...

Valerie is a pleasant midtown watering hole. It’s nothing special, but the bar is large and the service efficient. This is a difficult part of town to find a decent bar that isn’t grossly overpriced. It’s a tourist section of NYC, that was once quite elegant. These days, it’s more Disney than Mad Men. Valerie circumvents both and provides a decent drink.

Party of two. Didn't have a reservation but was able to get seated on arrival. Food was great, server was great, and drinks were great. Good spot for dinner with family or friends. Not sure if they have seating conducive to business discussion because we sat pretty close to nearby tables and could easily hear their conversation and probably vice versa.

I was in New York City for work and a friend from Brooklyn met me in Manhattan. Wanting something easy for her train but a bit on the fancy side, we chose Valerie. Valerie has a very chic interior--tall ceilings, elegant decor, and a very chic after-work crowd. We were able to find a table for two in the bar area, however, without a reservation, which was great. Our service was excellent; our server was friendly and very attentive. The cocktail selection was outstanding; we both ordered craft cocktails, and they were deliciously prepared. The bar knows what it's doing. The menu had several appealing options, ranging from healthier to more indulgent. My friend enjoyed here mussels and fries; the fries were super-crispy. My pasta dish was really tasty, with earthy mushroom flavor. While not particularly original cuisine, it was solid cooking. My reaction at the end of the night was that it was perhaps a little expensive for what it is, but it was an enjoyable evening out. If in the same area, I would not hesitate to return. The one thing to keep in-mind is noise: we enjoyed the lively scene and people-watching, but between the large space and hard surfaces, it was a LOUD restaurant--don't go here if needing intimate conversation.

Excellent pre-theater option and walking distance to my show. I had a reservation and was happy to have had one because it was busy and the bar lively. Really lovely atmosphere and ambiance.

Family group arrived on pre-booked and agreed time, but were made stand waiting to be seated for more than 40 min. Excellent food, but experience soiled by clumsy and incompetent management.

The atmosphere was lovely. The bar seems to be the reason to go to Valerie. We had 5 diners ranging on age from 57 - 11 years. We thought the drinks and appetizers were unusual and delicious. We felt like the entrees were not worth the $$. Overall an OK dinner for us! The entrees and service were not above average. :(

Enjoyed dinner. Decor and music were very nice. Food was well presented and tastey. Service was good. Not the veey best of ny but very nice.

We recently vacationed in NYC to visit museums and see a couple of shows (January 21-26. 2020). During this time, we stopped in Valerie’s for happy hour (on a Tuesday), and lunch (on a Thursday). This restaurant is a beautiful surprise past the front doors. You can tell so much thought and care went into the design of this updated art deco bar and restaurant. The staff is professional and the food and drinks were delicious. During Happy Hour, we had the Smoked Crispy Duck Wings and the Beef Cheek Steam Buns, as well as Spanish Gin & Tonic. All delicious! The bar filled up quickly after working hours with locals that seemed to know about this place. For lunch, we had the Grilled Chicken Breast sandwich, the Valerie Signature Burger (HUGE), and a special Louisiana Gumbo – again, all delicious. We enjoyed light, refreshing desserts of Passion Fruit Cheesecake and Mango Sorbet with Pineapple. The atmosphere of the restaurant was so relaxing and even though we had a lot of places we wanted to see, it was nice to sit back and enjoy the food and ambience.

We were in the city to see a 7:00 show and made a reservation for an early dinner at Valerie, since it was near the theater. The bar was a happening place! We were seated upstairs which was much quieter and also had a small bar. We were lucky enough to have a delightful server - I think her name was Shaunine. She was friendly, attentive, and was great at telling us about different menu items. We took her advice and started with the steam buns and they were, indeed, yummy. I got the halibut, which came on a bed of perfectly cooked mixed vegetables in a delicious broth (the fish was ever so slightly overcooked, but it was nice enough). My husband got the fig flatbread which was really wonderful. It had a bit of a kick. We enjoyed our wine choices too. By the time we left for the play, almost all the tables were full. I’d gladly return to Valerie the next time we travel to NYC and will hope we get Shaunine as our server.

If you like a very loud and rushed dining experience then this is your place. If instead your interested in a nice evening out to enjoy a few drinks and a nice meal then go elsewhere. Rushed, inattentive service and overcooked steak. That pretty much sums up our experience. One and definitely done.

Lovely little spot just off Times Square. Food was excellent and the service was spot on. Great atmosphere and the ambience was great for the evening. They had a gin selection second only to mine. Lol

First time at Valerie, but not the last! We went early for dinner before a play and were greeted by a friendly hostess who sat us in the back side room. The restaurant is very pretty with a good vibe. We received our menus promptly including the happy hour specials which included oysters at a dollar a piece. Drinks arrived exactly as ordered and the oysters were served in a deep dish filled with crushed ice and two sauces. They were so good we ordered a second dozen. We then sampled everything from the small plates menu - all delicious! The server offered dessert, but we declined and had another Sazerac instead. Overall, a great experience! Can’t wait to return!

This turned out to be the perfect place that despite being in the midst of all the midtown Times Square action in manhattan ... was an oasis of buzzing post work bar ambience and a great place to sit down and have a quite chat in the back where they have enclosed areas with seating for dinner if that’s what you are in the mood for. Happy hour from 4-7 pm and a fabulous charcuterie cheese board to boot. Their menu is fab and definitely try the green beans tempura from sharing plates and their Deep Dive Scallops parented kn a bed of risotto and roasted pumpkin with parmesan wafers. Absolutely Delish!! You won’t be disappointed in either the menu or the outstanding attention to detail and prompt service we received from our charming hostess Christina. Definitely going back

Had a wonderful dinner at Valerie with my wife and daughter. Thankfully we were seated in the lower-ceilinged back room, which lowered the decibel level just enough. The service was as expected, the cocktail list daunting (the wine list less so), and the food delicious. My wife loved her halibut, and my daughter and I loved our NY strip. Be aware, though: if you have a sensitivity to the noise of loud crowds, take noise-deadening earplugs.

The food is very tasty and the atmosphere cozy and the service is top. I was advised and served by Cotton and this kid understood it all a 10/10. I recommend this place

Was recommended this place for brunch, but instead reserved a table for dinner. Upon arrival I was asked to sit at the bar., which was loud and busy. I am a solo traveller wanting to sit at a table, read my book and enjoy a glass or two of wine, so I preferred a table, hence the reason I made a reservation, and not being a walk in. I was sat at a table and given the drinks and food menu and the server walked off. After 15 mins fed up of waiting for someone to ask me if I wanted a drink, I went tot he bar myself to order a cocktail and was told I couldn't as I was dining and to effectively sit back down at my table. When the 2 young waitresses had finished their giggling conversation between each other one of them took my drinks and food order Food was fine, tasty and well presented. So, here comes the bill (check) and you're expected (heavily expected) to leave a 20% 'service charge' Really?!! I barely got any 'service' and lets face it....as a server, if you know that 99% of the time you'll get a tip, why would you make the effort and strive to give good service of you know you'll get tips anyway? That's the problem with all restaurants in the US now. The service can be sloppy or inattentive as they just don't care, they'll make their tips anyway, so why make the effort Overall the place has a busy vibe, the food is nice, and I am sure if you ignore the lack of true friendly service, its a great place.

Drinks and oysters at happy hour. We really liked this bar!! We arrived without a reservation and they seated us at the bar upstairs. Very friendly service, modern and original drinks.

We stopped in for a quick drink. Really nice atmosphere. Super extensive drink menu. Not sure what the food is like, but a nice place overall.

We arrive after a great time at the Radio City. Restaurant/Bar was busy. After talk to the hostess and my wife check the tables an outstanding person came and help us. Daniela was the manager in charge and were able to find us a table quickly, seat us and chat for a bit with an incredible smile. She right after come with a welcoming drink. Uaul this what I can say. She was really about the customer experience. Food was delicious and drinks well made. An outstanding service changes everything. For more Daniela’s in the world. You rock.
Great Service makes for a Great Meal
A great meal is never just about the food or ambience (though these were excellent); it's about the service -- therein lies "the personal touch". Christopher completed this trio of factors with joyful, attentive, and always timely service; achieving that rare balance between been there when needed, without impacting our intimacy. Kudos to Valerie for their selection of exceptional staff to complete our great meal!
