Disappointing

By Cecilie H |

Went here for lunch on a busy day, service was not too friendly. Food was very tasty, only there was way too little of it on the plate - especially when considering the prices. Can not be recommended for tourists looking for a quick satisfying bite.

Neighborhood jewel after museums

By whimsyOaklandCa |

Great place to sit at one of 2 window tables and experience Upper Eastside. Service is efficient and staff are slightly reserved. The tartufata tartine is delicious...thinly sliced toasted egg bread with melted fontina cheese, topped with imported chopped mushrooms in truffle oil. This small plate goes well with glass of prosecco.

Choose another Italian restaurant - not worth the $$

By Doc Millyah |

Below average veal Milanese. Included a side of frozen vegetables. Who serves that at an Italian restaurant? Very disappointed.

I wonder how you call it lasagna if you use pancake dough!!!!!!!!!!

By Lubna D |

Cute small cafe. Ordered lasagna of the day... First, it is made of pancake dough instead of lasagna pasta, frozen canned spinach on the inside and MICROWAVED! Just wow.

Nice lunch stop

By TravelerNJ201 |

Great spot to sit down for a good Italian sandwhich and a glass of wine if you're near the East 72nd street entrance to Central Park.

Cute local spot

By Jane W |

If you are shopping mAdison Ave near 73rd and need a quick bite, don't miss your opportunity to slip into this adorable local cafe. The best latte ever. Also loved their prosciutto panini.

dinner after a day at the Guggenheim

By Karen S |

Absolutely fantastic tilapi in lemon and caper sauce. And my husband thought the Tiramisu was the very best he has ever eaten.

a neighbourhood gem!

By pinklady1177 |

I popped in here after spending a morning in the park with my family. I only purchased gelato, coffee, sorbet and pastries from the front counter because we were a big group with 2 toddlers and we weren't sure if they would behave well inside this tiny space. We had our treats on the street outside and we were completely fine with this. I absolutely loved my raspberry sorbet and my lemon tart!!! My sister loved her gelato as well. the kids also enjoyed their ice-cream. The front counter service was swift and friendly. I love this lil place. Hopefully next time I can come for a sit down lunch. This is a great stop after a day at the park.

Simple and delicious

By Missmouse98 |

Very tasty and fresh. Efficient and friendly service. The menu was priced well for what was delivered.

You have to be in the mood for Italy

By nycmom22 |

First there is a counter when you walk in that will make you think you are in Italy. Int he back, is cramped seating with weird wooden chairs. Nonetheless, their soup is about the best I've ever tasted--pureed minestrone--and the most expensive $12.50. The panini are well-prepared (you can split one with another person if having soup) and they take care with cappucino. Who could ask for anything more?

A hidden gem

By Idonotcook |

It was in the right location I was looking for, near the park entrance. I liked the decor in the small dining room at the back. The waiter was helpful and not pushy. I absolutely loved the crab and asparagus salad. I am going to try their other locations.

Cute place, great sandwiches, overpriced

By TravelNat8 |

The place is really cute. There is a pick up counter at the front and more tabled at the back. Open faced sandwiches are delicious but way overpriced.

Humble Italian Gem

By FancyHotelier |

Located right off of Central Park, Via Quadronno is a hidden gem nestled in the foremost location of the prestigious the Upper East Side. This place seems to be known by those who live in the area, with the sporadic appearance of international travelers. I personally had the privilege of eating at 'VQ' dozens of times, as I myself do not live too far from the restaurant. This place is excellent for lunch, but tends to get very busy around 1pm. The staff is very friendly. The only negative thing I have to say about the restaurant is that it is too small to accommodate its demand, but then again, that aspect does enhance its Italian authenticity. When sitting inside the restaurant, it feels as though one is immersed in real Italian culture and is actually eating in a restaurant in Italy. The restaurant fancies an array of delicious sandwiches and prides itself on having the best tiramisu in NYC - or is the the customers who praise its amazingness? Nevertheless, I've eaten the tiramisu and can attest that it is in fact delicious. For those tourists who are interested in visiting the nearby attractions, it is highly recommended to visit VQ for lunch.

Terrific lunchtime cafe

By Shery211 |

2 friends & I had a wonderful luncheon at Via Quadronno. There were quite a few people waiting (which we took as a good sign). It was worth the wait! I had a wonderful open faced sandwich with mozzarella cheese & speck (toasted ham) on top--just delicious. My friends were equally impressed with their meals. Portions were actually small, which I didn't mind--perfect lunch-sized, but small in comparison to other places. I would definitely go back here again. Just a note that our sandwiches did not have anything with them--if you are hungry, best if you order soup or a salad to accompany your lunch.

Great Sandwiches

Very busy place took a while to get seated , service was bit slow but food was very nice, with a large menu.

Via Quadronno Restaurant - 25 E 73rd St - Manhattan

By Michael |

We found Via Quadronno, when looking for a nearby Italian restaurant - after Botega del Vino on 59th Street closed. The food and the variety of dishes were about as good as at the Botega, though the latter had a much more extensive wine list (as its name suggested). There was a pleasant sign on the wall at the Via that repeated Horace's famous phrase: "Carpe diem, quam minimam credula postero": (Pluck the day; trust but little in the 'morrow!). But several of the letters were missing. Which was a bit worrisome, suggesting that the restaurant wasn't as diligent as it could be - in keeping everything fixed and up to date. The service was good and the prices moderate, but the ambience not as inviting as at the Botega or at some of the other UES Italian restaurants (like, for instance, Erminia)

Tasty food, cold coffee

By Ben G |

Stopped by for a quick bite before going to the museum. I had the Speck Panini with the house paté and a cappuccino. The panini was great; perfect meat to bread patio. The cappuccino on the other had was horrible. For an Italian Café the coffee was weak. There was a good amount of foam on it, but it was luke warm at best. The prices were resonalble though.

Small, authentic creativity

By CMT-JWT |

A short walk from the Met Breuer, this is a busy place with choices that make you feel you are in Italy. Check out daily specials, soups and vitello tonnato. Gelato looked good. Espresso was only OK.

Something wrong w this picture

By Yusuf A |

The ambience was nice snd the Asian staff running the place were cordial, however. Ill not be returning. The food was cold with hotspots telltale of a quick microwave up pasta and jar sauce taste. The price for the food although mediocre in taste was way too much. 26$ for a plate of cold pasta and sauce tasting from a jar?

Excellent sandwiches

By antiques223 |

Rather a cramped, not terribly comfortable Italian bistro, but they serve excellent and unusual sandwiches and awfully good coffee and dessert. A bit on the pricey side, but worth the extra couple of bucks for fresh and interesting combinations.

Great Stop for Coffee & Pastry Breakfast

By Foodielicious2 |

Very elegant little shotgun shaped place for a good brewed coffee and great pastry in the morning. Either stand at the bar like the Europeans do, or sit at a tiny table and have your pastry sereved to you. The apple tart was excellent; we saw yummy looking panettones, too. Feel elegant and get your coffee fix!

Unkind welcoming, disappointing Italian? food

By Susana F |

I went there at 12, the woman welcoming told me I could have a cappuccino with something small... and then hands me the menu in a rough way and tell me “only lunch”. Tiny tables, sitting very close to other customers, you feel afraid of moving your arms in order to avoid touching the others... Food is not Italian like that... In order tartine of salmon and big cappuccino (for me was breakfast time) and the woman passed and looked not very friendly. They brought me the compulsory glass of water when i was finishing the meal. It consisted of a burnt and dry slice of sandwich bread with one slice of salmon.... just that....salmon was so cold that it didnt taste anything in particular... really disappointed.... 23$.... and I left tip because the waiter was efficient, not a simple thanks or have a good day....

Just like being in Europe

By Amanda |

This small cafe is very much like those in Europe. It does a great lunch or coffee break. The sandwiches are always good, but not for vegetarians. Small tables are great for conversations. Service was prompt and friendly.

Good for lunch if on your way to the Frick

By Donna G |

Got this recommendation from Frick staff ... closest restaurant. Had to wait for a seat at 1:15 on a Wed. afternoon. Very busy, and obviously a favorite of the neighborhood. Good food. Recommend that you read the menu well ... one of our party was disappointed as didn't read the small print as to what was on sandwich so was disappointed. Small tables, crowded ... very New York.

Delicious gelato!!

By Beth N |

We stopped in for gelato and it was a great stop!! The gelato was amazing!! It's a darling place with old style charm. There are other desserts and a full menu, but we stuck to gelato. They offer takeout and sit down service.

Local Italian Gem

By Fernanda K |

Tucked into a side street between Madison and Fifth, Via Quadronno is a favorite for a tasty Italian meal in the back or just stop by for a fantastic Latte or gelato in the front to take away. It is not cheap eats but the quality is excellent and well prepared as if you were in Italy. I like all the pastas and the panini is perfectly executed. I stop by with regularity to get my Latte as it is my favorite of all the places in the neighborhood.

Great place a bit pricey

By JP L |

Perfect spot to stop for a great panini sandwich type with fresh products and great bread. The desserts were delicious and the Tiramisu incredible. Nice ambiance, good service, not very roomy and a bit pricey at the end of the day.

Disappointment

By tony w |

Very expensive, nothing special small plates, we made at home a better pasta, 61 usd for two small plates and one coke...........

Good food, tight quarters

By Juli_journeys |

Stopped in with a friend on a rainy Saturday at lunch time. We were given a table against the wall, which was an awkward position because people were all around us waiting to be seated. Despite that, the food was good. My friend had the soup and raved about it. My panini was warmed just enough to melt the cheese but keep the lettuce crisp. The flavors were perfect. I'd recommend it to others, but suggest not arriving at the peak of lunch hour as it was quite cramped and uncomfortable having other patrons bumping into you and servers dashing back and forth all the time.

Wonderful

By Traveling Cara |

I always get the fresh Tuna with the mixed salad . I love this place. It's consistent and fresh. The Cappachino is the best in the city .

Lovely Spot Near Central Park

By CHKirkpatrick |

Lovely and tasty lentil soup plus open face cheese sandwich. Outdoor seating just off CP. Great friendly service and delicious tiramisu.

For convenience and maybe ambiance, but not food

By cvanv |

Pleasant place with attentive staff. Child friendly. Uninspired food. Edible but not enjoyable. Rose wine by the glass was not good.

A lovely lunch near the Frick

By LJH276 |

We are in New York for a few days and unfortunately it was pissing it down so we decided to go to the Frick. We walked 20 blocks to get there and were absolutely drenched by the time we got there, ready for a hot drink and a bite to eat. We paid our entry fee and then discovered there is no cafe there and we weren't the only ones asking. So as we had a look around I went on the free wifi to Google Maps and discovered an Italian restaurant a couple of blocks away. We had to wait ten minutes for a table but had a lovely warming vegetable soup with bread followed by coffee. By this time we had warmed up and dried it a bit so geeked out again in the rain. The staff were friendly and the food is delicious. Not that cheap but it was worth it to warm us up. The soup was $12:50.

Near Museum Mile

By Enhan |

I had brunch this morning while visiting the museums at the Museum Mile. Their sandwich is plain and simple; just sandwich. You might want to take-away for a picnic lunch at Central Park.

I love this spot near the Met Breuer for a museum day break

By Ann Hicks M |

This is a tiny place that seems always to be full, so I was delighted they could squeeze me in. I was doing a full museum day and needed a little outdoor exercise, and this is just the right distance from the Met. Everything on the menu looks good, and my primavera panini was just right.

Perfect for lunch!

By Ramble-and-Trek |

While trying to decide where to have lunch after visiting the Frick Collection, this restaurant was recommended by a lady we met outside Central Park. It was an easy walk, and we were very pleased with our meals. Delicious sandwiches and excellent service. Nice atmosphere, also. Highly recommend.

Great coffee...

By Kevin B |

Love to come by here and have coffee and pastries for breakfast. The coffee really is better than any of the "chains" and the atmosphere is much more charming. Also really enjoy the selection and flavor of their baked goods...old school stuff, not the hip and trendy

Surprise Me

By Hongping Z |

It's small but nice. I really enjoy the classic meat lasagna. This is my first time there. I was visiting central park and got tired at noon and decided to find a restaurant near me, and this place surprised me!

Came for coffee, wish we had stayed for a meal!

By dafootes |

We popped in for a quick coffee break (coffee and cookies were excellent!) but watching the sandwiches go by and seeing the tiramisu made me wish we'd stayed for a meal. Busy - staff was very friendly. You can walk in and order at the counter or have a seat at either tables in the front or in the back, where you can settle in and stay for a meal.

Consistently good food

By rkr727 |

If you like little hidden gems, this is a great place to have lunch, regardless of the weather outside. The sandwiches and salads are perfectly seasoned and the service is efficient. I am reticent to share it because there might be a wait next time we go

Popular and.enjoyable for a quick panini.

By Shirley76 |

We stopped at Quadranno's for lunch. There is an excellent selection of panini, Italian soda and beer. Very tasty..very busy.

Fantastic!

By Wineaux FromAlexandria |

Tucked in a tiny townhouse in the upper Eastside, Via Quadronno transports you directly to Milan. The extensive menu of panini made it almost impossible to choose ... A wrong selection could not be made. The wine list is extensive. The only drawbacks ... The restaurant is small; the tables tiny; and there is likely a wait. (There is usually no wait at the bad restaurants ... So the wait is a good barometer of the quality.)

Great spot for a small bite

By AshleyDCandMiami |

It's small and quirky, but the food was quite good, wine was nice too. It's rustic, and the tables are pretty close to each other, but it's all very charming. Oh and the tiramisu is unbelievable! Staff was kind and efficient.

Fabulous little place

By walter0956 |

The best Spaghetti Carbonara we have ever tasted. Everything else was delicious but this dish stood out on the main courses. The Tiramisu was also a star of the desserts. Cannot recommend it enough! Delicious

Very enjoyable Bistro

By Aeron S |

A great Bistro we came here for breakfast I had an Almond Croissant and Ham and Mozzarella Panini, and an Earl Grey Tea. Really attentive staff, delicious food and you will probably meet the most interesting people here, only a couple of blocks away from the MET I advise this as a place to eat either before or after this visit!

Local Italian A+, Ambiance A+, Quaint A

By ap |

Via Quadronno could be a local Italian bistro that could be in the center of Florence. Perfect place of a light meal. I loved the eggplant parmigiana, great thin crusted pizza, and the beef carpaccio. perfect place for coffee.

Excellent Italian sandwiches for lunch

By JoeP2794 |

Great place for a great Italian snack or lunch. I had a superb sandwich, italian stly and my partner a pasta, we shared a salad and had great wine and service.A little tight and there were lots of children, with their parents during our visit.

Great Place for Lunch before or after visiting Museum Mile

By Charming_Karl |

I have been to Via Quadronno twice, both times after visiting one of the museums nearby. The sandwiches (singular: panino; plural: panini) are great, and the ambiance is the best - it is a cozy place and fills up quickly, but both times we were there, we got a table pretty quickly.

Quick stop at a casual restaurant

By KostasTang |

The place was rammed and there was a queue outside with people waiting to be seated. We asked for a table of two and the friendly hostess offered us a table inside. The place inside is super tight and the tables real small. Super cozy one might say but dated. I ordered the prosciutto with melon and my partner the penne pasta with spicy tomato sauce. They served us a complimentary basket of grilled white bread. All a bit underwhelming. For drinks we had a ginger ale that was slightly watery and a bottle of Peroni. All came real quick. The bill was $66.70 which felt a bit pricey for the overall experience. Wel I’ll we go again? No. But if you looking for a quick service and a quick bite if you are around the area, then give it a go.

Italian restaurant in great surroundings with good service

By Gugeux |

The recent arrival of Via Quadronno in Carnegie Hill has been a nice addition to the Italian food offering of the area. A combined shop and restaurant, it has been adopted as a superior community restaurant. The service is friendly and it allows a perfect spot for good food and great surroundings.

Great find- hidden treasure

By Paisagringa |

Went to the Frick Collection museum after an overnight flight to the NYC, so we needed a quiet and restful place. This small Italian restaurant was recommended by another restaurant that was closed at 1130. We ordered an asparagus salad to share. They divided it for us. Asparagus were perfectly cooked crunchy and the vinaigrette was light very good and great for the bread too. Then we each ordered panini with prosciutto with goat cheese. Yum. It was so delicate and tasty. We topped the lunch with really good cappuccinos and they brought them with 4 small butter cookies. Excellent too. Small place slow but good service. In the sense that they don't rush you. You have to say when you are ready to order. So plan on a relaxed lunch. That's what we needed. And very close to the museum.

Comfy and fresh

By Byron R |

Stopped by for lunch smallish tables. Yummy soup and fresh panini and pastas. Beer and wine available. A bit expensive. Very local crowd.

A quaint spot for dinner on the UES

By ChasingSun101 |

Family meal that we all enjoyed. Food is good with friendly service. Our server, Juan, was attentive, helpful and kind.

Step into Italy

By fancyn1 |

This is a popular brunch or lunch spot for us. We enjoy the delicious panini and salads and the Italian-style cappuccinos. Warning: it is expensive and it gets very crowded - it's a tiny place and you just queue up for a table. It's convenient to the museums on the Upper East Side and although it's always crowded, the staff is really nice.

Great lunch stop close to Frick & Central Park

By VkmV04 |

There are few lunch options close to the Frick museum - we took a quick break from viewing the paintings & walked 3 blocks up to Via Quadronno - a little coffe shop-like place that makes hot and cold sandwiches, panini's, soup, salads, coffee, pasteries & gelato. We opted to share 2 panini's - the best we've ever had - each were between $12 & 13. I had the Tentazione (proscuitto, smoked mozzarella, rucola, shrimp with a pink sauce) and my mom had the Desiree (grilled ham, fontina cheese with a light caper sauce). We had to keep trying each one to decide which was better - still not sure! There are 2 seating options - tiny tables & stools in the front that are squeezed in along the take out/serving counter. The second is in the dining room area in the back that is still very squished. We also had little dessert tarts - the hazelnut & the Key lime pie. These were not quite as good as the panini's - but still very good.

Absolutely delicious food amazing service

By lindafosters |

My friend and I were just strolling along Madison Ave looking for a place for a late lunch. We found Via Quadronno and felt extremely lucky. I had polenta ragu and my friend had the soup of the day and a beautiful pierrepi salad. All very delicious! Best polenta I’ve ever had and I’m a big fan therefore have it often. We were seated in a place where we could read the review by Martha Stewart on their tiramisu. We had seen the tiramisu being served and both of us had remarked how pretty it looked but we both confessed we were not huge fans. However after reading M.S. review we decided to share one. Well, I thought we might have a fork war over the last bite, but we refrained and offer our kudus to the chef!

Pretty good solid neighborhood place

By sunshine_susan |

The wine list is good (although the wine comes in a jelly jar, which I gulped thinking it was water!), and the food is very well prepared. Even more exciting was spotting Steve Martin at lunch - very cool. I had a small salmon appetizer, which was fine for lunch. Others had soup and panini sandwiches, which they loved.

Unbelievably good Italian

By Wenno |

We spent 3 days exploring New York, stooping to some new lows when it came to restaurants and coffee. However, this little place blew our minds. When we lived in the UK, we spent many happy holidays in Italy and have a pretty good idea what authentic Italian cuisine tastes like. The lasagne here was exceptional, service was very attentive, and whilst the restaurant is small, we were made to feel welcome even on a busy wet Saturday lunchtime. Multo bene!

My regular Italian lunch appointment in NY!

By Marziomartel |

When I'm in NY for work “Via Quadronno” is a regular appointment for my lunch! Via Quadronno is a small Italian restaurant in the heart of Manhattan's upper east side, a few steps from park avenue and central park! The location is not very large, it is mainly a long corridor and a little room, so booking is always better if you want to be sure to sit. The menu is very wide and offers a great choice of hot/cold dishes with products of Mediterranean origin cooked according to Italian tradition. In addition to the classic menu you will find a wide range of panini, open-faced toasts and appetizers for a lighter and faster lunch. The portions are of medium size but if you order appetizers I suggest you eat more than one. The price is medium-high but the quality is paid. Credit cards are accepted. Only a negative note: being a much appreciated but small place the waiting could be long and the passage of people between tables could give you a little annoyance. Marzio from Rome

Exceptional!

By fromAtl |

My daughter and I planned a light lunch at this UES gem, and we were thrilled with the food. We shared an asparagus tartine and a proscuitto panini (with cheese and pate). The serving sizes were perfect, and the food was delicious! The desserts looked beautiful, but we did not have any. This is a beautiful cafe with lots of coffee selections and a full bar. A lovely spot!

Excellent location

By alexandercook |

If you are in this part of town this is an ideal place to go for coffee, or a light meal. The sandwiches were first rate and the mozzarella , always a good indication of a restaurant's quality was excellent. It is small which adds to the atmosphere though could possibly feel crowded at busy times. Helpful, unobtrusive staff. Other reviewers have said that it is not cheap and while this is true the food we had justified the price.

Rude beyond description

By Elise I |

stopped in for some coffee on a cold day....hostess was beyond rude- literally seated several people who arrived behind me leaving me standing... after about 20 min of waiting, I sat myself down and was promptly told to get up as i hadn't been seated by the hostess; who then seated a couple at the table I just vacated- it was rude, humiliating and unbelievable - those in fur coats and dressed to impress were seated the minute they walked in the door- (no exaggeration) - avoid this restaurant at all cost- they do not deserve your business - they deserve a visit from the better business bureau-

The best place for italian food

By AlanS75000 |

Small place but with a really good italian food and friendly service. Nice for a lunch after shopping or museum.

Very so-so

By Richard A |

I'd been here some years before but had forgotten how average their paninis were. A crusty bagette with some chewy speck and a smidgeon of brie for $15. My wife had a couple of slivers of mozzarella for $18. the place is buzzing and busy with Euro types but it has nothing on St Ambroeus a few blocks away or Mediterraneo on 2nd Ave. Location is terrific though and the people watching pretty good. Tables however are uncomfortable and service is blah. Only if you're desperate!

Excellent Pasta ...

By Techvestco |

Great pasta ... the rest is good too, but go there for the pasta. The place on 73 is small, but that makes it fun. Went there with kids and even though there's no children's menu, they split the entrees for kids. Nice touch.

Just Right for a Quick Bite

By Frank P |

This was our second visit to this unlikely spot. The first was for breakfast with "knock your socks off" coffee and terrific pastry. Second visit we stopped for a quick lunch where there is a selection of 20+ panninis. I would recommend the "Cervina" which is made with prosciutto and Brie cheese slightly warmed on a baguette. A selection of wine is available. Definitely will return to try dinner.

Happiness is great coffee and a great panini

By ColonelAllen |

My wife and I had lunch here and would like to have had time in our schedule to go back. This is a fun restaurant with lots of great options for lunches. Packed together the tables encourage a conversation with neighbors. The service is prompt, professional and friendly. In fact, the entire atmosphere is friendly. The food is excellent as you might expect from an enduring eatery in NYC. We'll be back on our next visit to NYC.

Prime location

By EarlyRetirementAbroad |

We came to the VIA QUADRONNO, located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. We came for the late coffee – around 12:30pm and promptly been accompanied to the table. We placed the order: INSALATA DI CAPRI (imported buffalo mozzarella, tomatoes and basil) $18.50 and four CAPPUCCINO ($5.00). The Inslata Di Capri was good – reasonable size, fresh mozzarella, delicious crostini… Cappuccino – just average. However, the atmosphere at the restaurant was very pleasant, the professional staff did not show any disapproval that we did not order anything else and we felt welcomed. The place is a little bit more expensive than I would expect… It is New York, off 5th AVE, and we pay for the nice experience at the prime location. I am sure that you would enjoy dining at VIA QUADRONNO.

Passable food, horrible service

By Maurizio Giuliano |

The food is passable, but staff are horribly rude. Additionally the place is really tiny and crowded.

Favorite neighbirhood coffe

By Islandhome3 |

This tiny cafe pulls one of the best shots of coffee in NYC. In addition, the food is fresh, delicious and comforting. Highly recommend.

Good food, service; convenient to Met

By JoesueFree |

We were looking for a quick lunch after the museum and had heard of Via Quadronno. The Paninis were great, but the waiter refilled out ice teas twice which resulted in $16 worth of ice tea ($4x4). This is a very popular place, but small with the tables on top of each other. Feels quite European.

Should I even tell you about this cute, outstanding spot?

By makoHamptons.NY |

We were in need of a light lunch uptown. Among the elegant townhouses just off Park Avenue, we found this magical little spot: a stylish neighborhood Italian. In cosy circumstances, we ate a light. perfect lunch: asparagus vinaigrette topped by a sliced egg, bruschetta, and a salad. With two glasses of wine and attentively smooth service, the bill with tip and tax came to $114.00.

Great little find

By Alto2015 |

Great little Italian cafe on the Upper East side. Really good quality panini etc. Service was excellent. Full of locals which tells you all you need to know.

Best Italian food in NYC

By Nadia G |

We travel to New York almost every year and this place is at top of our list every time. Sandwiches are superb, coffee as well but the lasagna and minestrone soup are just out of this world. The place is in a magical part of town, can't wait to go back next year..... Many thanks to the staff, last time we went they remembered us and gave us a box of chocolate. Bravi!

Great Italian!

By westcoastwaiting |

Spent the day in the museums and wanted a nice dinner. It was expensive but not outrageous. Our waiter was very friendly and gave us great recommendations. He also told the truth about what not to order. Everything was fun and tasty!

Great sandwiches in a cozy setting

By Kamil S |

We came on a saturday at lunch time and had to wait a total of 2 minutes to be seated. A very small and cozy setting lined with wine bottles as far as the eye can see. The sandwiches were very tasty but the expensive lasagna ordered could have been better. Would highly recommend the house special sandwich.

Sorry To Bother You

By CASM59 |

We recently went for a light early dinner. Except for one other table the place was empty. The server came over to take our order but we were not ready. She did not come back for quite a while until I caught her attention. She acted like it was a bother to wait on us. The service throughout the meal was inattentive. I can't imagine what the service would have been like if it was crowded. The prices appear to be reasonable until you see the portion sizes. The open faced sandwich was on one small thin piece of bread and was $15. I was in disbelief when I saw how small it was. The ham and cheese sandwich was also quite small and expensive for the size. An average sized house salad was also around $15. Even for a light meal we left hungry. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Quick coffee

By Craig W |

Made a quick stop here before heading to the Met. Grabbed some good coffee and a croissant. If you're near the museums and need a quick bite or some coffee this will do.

Elegant little spot

We had a wonderful time dining outside and having aperol spritzes. So fun. Delicious sandwiches and the pasta dishes looked great too. The Maitre'd was lovely and very accomodating. She was very attentive

Walking back from Central Park, I found Via Quadronno and what a find it was. Great atmosphere. I had a late lunch, the panini was excellent. The bread outstanding. Will be back.

Nice place

By G2Kpauly |

I came here with family and my niece loved the Spaghetti Bolognese so much. My coffee was pretty good and the service and ambiance was very nice here. All the other food looked nice that family members ordered.

Great light lunch!!!

By 46oceangirl |

My daughter and I were walking up Madison Ave when we ran into a local and she recommended this spot, as she had eaten there before. Well kudo's to her, it was awesome. You can get coffee and pastries in the front of the restaurant and gelato all to go or sit by there at the tables for 2 for coffee but we were having lunch so we headed to the back of the restaurant. Sat at the table, nice quaint space. We each had a grilled panini, my daughter the prociutto with cheese , me the mortedella with provologne and parsley, pot of hot tea and an iced coffee. The panini's were $13 a piece, the perfect size, fresh ingredients and I would come back in a heart beat. The service was attentive, they didn't rush you at all. Good size menu to choose from.Pleasantly surprised for being on the upper east side.

Amazing spot

By awesome_1971 |

An amazing Italian spot in the heart of New York. Great service, amazing location, great paninis. The quantity of the wine at glass was super, the espresso as it should be: the real thing not like the funky 3rd wave cafe where it’s disgusting! I love this place. It’s the entire New York in a cup

The best cappucino this side of the Atlantic!

By SandraKo |

We never miss a chance to stop here. Best coffee ever and we also love their soups and salads. Their vegetable soup is favorite too and the frozen cappucino is really great.

A bit off the beaten path, but always full of locals, Via Quadronno is a great option for a bite to eat near the park on the Upper East Side.

Fabulous sweets

By AustraliaEinstein |

A lovely venue ...wait staff were somewhat indifferent...sandwiches were dry and fairly tasteless however the desserts were really delicious and the coffee was fabulous.

Stay Away

By edmund s |

The worst rip off of our whole trip! Arriving exhausted at Frick Collection ....oh ..no restaurant in museum. Looking desperately for a close place to eat sth as we had an appointment inside the museum. Via Quadronno is close. Five really awful panini...like bad industrial white read and one and a half slice of jam...Just love and careless...value may be 50 Cent. Five Pannini , two beers and to diet cokes including tip for 120 dollars. Hands up- this ia an assault!

Wonderful lunch before the Met.

By ADVabeach |

Even though this place was small I love the small dining area in the back. The salads and the soup or the best!! Don't miss out on this jewel of a place near the Met museum.

Great Find

By Linda F |

My husband and I needed a place for a quick, light bite between the Met Museum (Fifth and 82nd) and the Explorer's Club (70th near Madison). Via Quadronno was perfect! The small and charming space had an old European feel to it. The menu was just right. We had soup, a pannini and a couple glasses of wine. Would definitely go back.

Charming Italian Trattoria

By traveler1468 |

A wonderful dining experience reminiscent of a typical Trattoria in Italy. Very small dining area. Tables are small and close together. Nice selection of wine. Friendly and casual service. Pastas are served al dente. Red sauces were delicious. Carpaccio was excellent.

Tasty Lunch

By byrdyb |

Long-ish wait but a very attentive hostess that does not forget a face. Great wines, simple but delicious choices for lunch. Small spot with great atmosphere.

Tasty lunch

Tasty food with not much legroom but delicious. Lots of different paninis to choose from. A little loud because it was totally packed.

A Quick Trip to Itally

By TheSnite |

Very European vibe with very good food and, unfortunately, NYC prices. But the quality makes up for the tab. Three of my family had three different sandwiches for lunch and all were happy. I had cheese plate ($22) that was more than enough for me, plus sharing with everyone and taking some home. Wine by the glass is in the $13 range and not especially generous, but solid Italian wines. Busy, tight quarters, you'll hear more than English spoken by diners, good service, and nice lunch.

Great old landmark that feels like your are in Europe!

By joescooking |

Great little place with nice sandwiches and salads. The smoked salmon plate is outrageously good. The crab was sour and not so good. But we love it here. The staff is warm and friendly, the atmosphere feels like you are in a small caffe on the Left Bank or in a narrow alley way in Venice. A note to the restaurant, organic tea and almond milk would be nice.

Go there with friends!

By HenryNYC |

What a fabulous experience we had there. The place is intimate and small but the best size group is 4. We ordered a bottle of wine and sparkling water and shared the salads, the sandwiches, pastas, and deserts and we had absolutely the best lunch we ever had. The waiters are really knowledgeable so please do not hesitate to ask. We had reservation of ordering tiramisu for desert but he proved us wrong as it is just so different and better than the tiramisu we had before. The seating in the back is cozy. The ambiance is totally European and Northern Italian.

Perfect Paninis!

By Ana S |

Vía Quadronno is a NYC favorite for us. We couldn't wait to go back and enjoyed it just as much this time. We've tried 6 different panninis, which were all great. The tiramisu is delicious! We'll be back.

Insultingly bad

By Roberto G |

We often come to NYC to enjoy the wide variety of cuisine available. We made the big mistake of trying Via Quadronno. This place is a disgrace to restaurants, to NYC and to cuisine in general. We can’t get over it, we wasted a meal at this dump. Shame on you!

Great lunch

By C1airBear |

In between visiting the Guggenheim and MET on a Friday we stopped here for lunch. We had to wait 10 minutes for a table, but it was worth the wait. We both had the soup and shared a sandwich. Both were delicious, the soup was full of flavour. Great little lunch spot.

PrepRe yourself for a treat

By PattyinIreland |

This is a real find; thought it’s been around for a while. The food is delicious, the service great and the drinks perfection. Had the veal scalloppini which was mouth watering . In the distance one can see the Hudson River. Enjoy!

Excellent evening!

By Travel2030 |

Visiting Via Quadronno was a fantastic experience. Excellent service, spot on food and a festive, warm environment. We enjoyed terrific starter bruschetta, lovely grilled breads and a wonderful series of dishes. Branzino was perfectly prepared. The steak was extraordinary and topped the $140 ribeye at Topping Rose but at 1/3 of the price. The tuna was exactly the right temperature. Their desserts were stunning. My Prosecco doused lemon sorbet is still on my mind. Definitely give this location a try. They're very good at this.

Good food and friendly service

By Victoire36 |

Really feel like home. Service is quick and friendly - and pasta just delicious. A great break in between museums or in the middle of a shopping “trip”.

Relaxed Italian, perfect dinner after a long day of museums and walking

By Steven L |

My sister-in-law (38 years in Manhattan) had said go there sometime, its great. And, it was. As we walked back to our table in the back we passed the open kitchen...they were speaking Italian!!.... and the experience as right in character from then on. Food was wonderful, generous...like that I had after school, prepared by my neighbor Elena Pianucci, transplanted from her native Florence, Italy, to California. Great, great place for an unpretentious, delicious time.

Good Quiet Upper East Side Casual Lunch Spot

By Robertkohn1234 |

Via Quadronno is a long narrow Italian bistro on Manhattan's Upper East Side. This place has more charm than the typical casual lunch eateries you find with a very nice lunch menu. As the east side is a fashionable part of own it is not a surprise that the restaurant is empty until close to 1:00 pm and quite busy thereafter. The menu is varied with salads and fresh made Italian fare. If you're in the neighborhood and looking for a good place to have lunch this is it.

Good sandwich, nice service

By Mike D |

Lots of different options including pate. Liked the toasted bread and fresh ingredients. Server was nice. Also, can get espresso and pastry standing at the bar.

Expensive and not that great to be honest

By Charlie L |

Came in on the off chance without a reservation, had to wait about 5 minutes and then were seated, the restaurant is very cramped with tables so close you are squeezing past other customers to get sat down, then they are squeezing past you to get out. I think the philosophy must be to get as many people through as possible, feed them as quickly as they can, and move them on. Service was quick, prices are lofty! (Glass of Sauvignon $17, Bottle of Peroni $8.50, main courses of pasta were $30 and small portions and average quality.) An 18% service charge is added to your bill. All in for four of us, with one drink each, coffee and two puddings it was over $300 which seemed well over the top for the average quality of food.

Amazing coffee

By Ron T |

Stepping in was like going through a Italian time warp. The coffee pot was $5. which gave you about 2 cups of the best coffee you ever had. It came with warm frothed milk which was like a cafe au lait. Wife had a cappuccino which was great too.

Excellent Panini and light meals

By Wilsonfaria |

This small place is an excellent option for a bite after a stroll at Central Park. The prosciutto panini is very good. Avoid pick hours.

Very basic

By Cza |

We ended up in the restaurant after a long journey under the sun desperate for a cool place. The restaurant is really small, but ok. Menu with sandwiches, pasta and a few specialities. We ordered carpaccio, brushetta and pasta. All tasteless for respectively 27, 16, and 29$ each…

So cute AND great food and coffee

By Z Z |

The restaurant is so cozy and pretty that you'll want to stay forever. Especially after you try their coffee. Food is also pretty good. Downside? In that neighborhood nothing is cheap

The locals pack this place out tells you something

By Nigel E |

Just round the corner from the Frick andneeding a quick lunch we found this restaurant. After a minutes wait we got a table and the service was fast and attentive. Reasonable priced and varied menu. Simple soup and sandwich arrived quickly and were delicious. The place was packed but folks moved through quickly. If you can't see the name keep your eyes open for the flying pig outside!

Take two more steps and go straight

By giramondo8888 |

Dearest. We went there for lunch, not so much to eat Italian but because it was more comfortable at the Met. First courses at $30 and ham sandwiches (the simplest) at $9, shame the quality: it was shoulder.

Authentic and delicious!

By Nena |

Fabulous tiny place with delicious eats! We had the paninis, pasta carbonara, and the polenta bolognese and we couldn't decide which was better. The portions are average to what you get in Italy, so don't expect to share one dish. The prices are a bit steep, but you are on the upper East side, so you pay for it. The paninis were about $15 for a 6inch sandwich only, the pastas and polenta between $25-30 or a single serving. The desserts also looked amazing, but we opted out.

The best Cappuccino in the upper east side!

By whosane9 |

Every time I visit NYC I always make it a point to stop at my favorite place for coffee! The Barista at Via Quadronno makes the best Cappuccino :) The flavor, consistency and temperature is perfect! They also serve open faced sandwiches and their mushroom lasagne is divine!

Great variety of late lunch choices

By pmjc |

Stopped in here after a memorial service, with everyone just a little edgy and needing some comfort food. The four of us ordered, and basically shared the soup of the day (a very mellow gazpacho), a tortellini entree with a cheese sauce, a caprese salad and the salmon carpaccio. Quite an assortment and all of it delicious as we traded bites from plate to plate. Add a glass of wine around, and it made for a lovely occasion. We had prompt, friendly service - unlike some of the reviews I've seen. Perhaps it was because we arrived around 2:30 on a rainy Wednesday.

Quaint Italian Eatery

By Anne D |

We were a bit lost and hungry when a local suggested we try Via Quadronno. We entered this very European-looking restaurant and were seated right away. The food was fresh and inviting. It tasted just like paninis in Italy although the portions were quite small for the exorbitant prices of NYC. Next time, I may simply ask for an espresso and one of the sumptuous looking cookies on display. I would still recommend for tourists with cash on hand.

Expensive HACKS!

By Alon G |

If you go to this place, then I promise that you will pay the most you ever did for the worst you've ever eatten. It was comparable to canned pasta... perhaps worse. Take the money you'd spend hear and put it in a savings account for a trip to Italy!

Very good lunch spot

By Arthur K |

I came here with an Italian friend of mine. Living in Seattle, we don't have place like this. He was really impressed with how authentic this place is. I got the prosciutto di Parma. He told me it was just meat & bread and I was a bit worried as I like the traditional American style sandwiches with lots of stuff in there. The sandwich is not very big but it was good enough for a snack. It comes out hot from being pressed on the panini grill. My worries about the lack of ingredients were quickly washed away. The prosciutto was so good it didn't need a partner and being warmed it gave it a nice smoky flavor. I'd definitely come back.

Delicious food and drink in a casual, inexpensive (?!?), restaurant

By Leo M |

I recently had lunch here after going to the Frick. I very much enjoyed my panini - the Non Ti Scordar Di Me (speck, brie, and pate) - and a Moretti. The restaurant was packed on a weekday lunch (I got the last table) and the service was somewhat brusque though quite efficient and professional. Really, I think your opinion of the restaurant - and your decision to dine here - revolves around the question of, "Do you want to walk a 1/2 mile?" It is a sit down restaurant that serves delicious food and drink in a casual atmosphere for a very reasonable price...for where it is.

Nice Italian food in charming cafe near Central Park

By Cassietrip |

We really enjoyed our evening here. The waiters are very nice and professional. The room is small but cute. We both loved our pasta. I had linguine and clams which had plenty of clams and was perfectly seasoned in light olive oil/clam juice sauce. My husband had olive oil & pepper flakes and loved it. We also enjoyed the 3 cookies and affogatto - a little sweet end to a savory dinner. Nice wine list as well.

Splendidly Italian lunch restaurant

By Julia K |

Good food. Pleasant atmosphere. Extremely crowded but they fitted us in and were very welcoming. We know Italy quite well and felt comfortably at home in this restaurant.

Still the best cappuccino in NYC

By Robert L |

Now with two locations, this is THE place to start the day with a cappuccino (or my favourite - a caffe macchiato) and just relax and get ready for whatever the day throws at you. European elegance meets a very friendly and deferential staff - this in the place!

Nice dinner near Central Park

By Aleksandra |

Had dinner here, the food was good and service very nice (we happened to be there on their anniversary so got a tiramisu on the house - tiramisu was very good!) Interior was very eclectic but cosy

Shocking - Something Fairly Priced, and Very Good

By Michael S |

I have a thing about getting ripped off even when I know I am gong to get ripped off. So you can imagine how happy I was when the docent at the Frick recommended this little coffee, pastry, and lunch place right off of Madison on 73rd. I went expecting to get coffee and a cookie and ended up having a very reasonably priced panini, sparkling water and coffee and the check was less than $20. Service was excellent, as was the totally inane conversation between the two upper east side women sitting next to me. Seriously, it was better than going to the movies, with worries about their kid's ability to do algebra -- in the future - when the kids are in pre-school. I kid you not. This part of Manhattan can be extremely expensive and overpriced, this was under-priced, an oasis of excellent service and food.

3 stars

By Josie I |

The location is nice, and I like the atmosphere, but the breakfast is not great. I spent $16 on an omelette I could make myself! I felt that there were other, better, breakfast options for much cheaper price.

Small cozy Italian restaurant

By Cynthia R |

Great place to grab a bite when visiting the Frick Museum at 1 E. 70th St. The food is fresh and tasty and the cost is reasonable. The atmosphere is like a cafe you would find on one of the side streets in Rome.

Cute lunch spot

By NatAtHome |

A lovely upper east side cafe, with a focus on sandwich/paninis & salads. I had the Lo Spazzino which was a delicious roasted pork sandwich on a fresh & crunchy baguette. I wish it had come with a little salad. My friend had the meat lasagna special, which seemed very professionally prepared with a bechamel sauce, and it was served bubbling hot in an individual serving dish. Another friend started with the vegetable soup, which looked very good. I would have had it too, but didn’t realize it was available as an appetizer size. She also had the salad with tuna, and it looked fresh & good. The canned tuna was on top, and I think it was probably a nice oil marinated type. Note: the ice tea does not include refills. It’s quite small & crowded in the restaurant but we didn’t feel rushed. However, some of the tables do seem to be on top of each other, and there were people waiting for our seats when we left. It was a nice choice for a girlfriend lunch.

Great gelato...

By LPLoveToTravel |

Right around the corner from where we were staying...so we went for gelato. Very nice flavor and texture.

Querky.

By Michael F |

We were recommended this place for coffee by a local in a nearby boutique. Good atmosphere, good coffee and a nice tart although the tart was quite expensive! If I have any criticism, it would be that it was very warm in there with little fresh air. Plenty of locals in there which is usually a good sign that its good. A taste of Italy in New York. Very close to Central Park if you fancy a nice walk after.

A HAPPY ACCIDENT

By vnagaswami |

Wandering around looking for a place to eat after spending a wonderful morning enjoying the Frick Collection, we accidentally found ourselves at the Via Quadronno on East 73rd and Madison, and what a happy accident it turned out to have been. Vegans usually have a hard time of it unless they plan their eateries well in advance, but the Via Quadronno gave us an excellent vegan lunch, even though it wasn't a primarily vegan restaurant, in a cozy and charming Italian bistro ambience. Not too pricey, it's certainly worth a visit.

Overpriced Basic fare

By Pavel K |

It is very popular joint with high turnover, so the pricing could be more democratic.. Sandwich, salad and soup fare of average quality but very much priced to satisfy the owner's ego.

Bustling Bistro near Met Breuer

By DanaThomas |

A charming, if cramped little 'European' spot around the corner from Met Breuer offered a tiny table for two in a bustling, energetic old-world environment. Pricy but delicious small plate tartines on the menu were served quickly and made for a nice light lunch on a busy day. Efficient service, but you may have a bit of a wait. The hostess was very accommodating, and we noticed an option on our bill to tip her.

Old school Cafe

By SteveParryHK |

Nice old school cafe, simple, friendly and nice service. Stopped for coffee and some gelato. Neighbourhood feeling.

Excellent lunch

By IlyaNJ |

Waiting for a table is unavoidable at peak times, since the place is pretty small. The menu is great, with many variations on panini theme the main staple. But also salads, some pasta, and one member of our party gave raving reviews to risotto. Fun place to stop for lunch - although I understand it is open for dinner as well.

Quick Italian bite in chic old world decor, served in a NY minute

By marcopolopaloalto |

While doing a shopping trek across Madison Av, we stopped into Via Quadroona for 2 quick salads served with NY water. The bill just about $20. This is a little Italian cafe. Salads, quick paninis, and the salads served with freshly grated thin slabs of cheese 🧀! Wonderful! It’s a little tight seating, but good people watching, fast, with courteous service

Touristic trap expensive and horrible

By fabb227 |

1. The bottle of Sanpellegrino water comes already open and it is clearly *not* genuine Sanpellegrino water 2. Milanese rice (Riso al Salto) is awfully overcooked and untasted 3. Panna Cotta seems made no less than 99% of gelatin 4. Every items are largely overpriced. You pay only for the proximity of Central Park, not the quality of the plates 5. A tip of 18% is already included (for 3 people) 6. Our bill came with several errors: - one plate not ordered (16 USD). We mentioned that and the error was corrected............. - calculation error for the tip!!! 104.50 x 18% = 21.78 ???? Bad math? Avoid!

Lovely lunch near the Frick

By Ann Maureen O |

My friend and I had excellent and original salads and a nice glass of wine after spending a few hours at The Frick and enjoyed the cosy seating where you can notice what your neighbours are being served to help decide on your own choice! Excellent service and though it seems like a small place, don't be afraid to wander toward the back to find more tables hidden away.

Excellent Sandwiches, Very Nice Service

By Paula M |

Visited the Frick Collection and ate here for a late lunch. My friend and I had the same thing - a sandwich filled with prosciutto, mozzarella, tomatoes and black olive spread. It was delicious. The bread was warm and crusty and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The service was friendly and efficient and we never felt rushed. We also had coffee and gelato - both also very, very good. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a light meal.

Outstanding Service & Food

By NancyLN |

My husband and I went for a late lunch after leaving the Metropolitan Museum of Art and had a lovely and relaxing time. The waiters and hostess are very friendly. I especially liked the open faced tuna and artichoke sandwich. Prices are very reasonable. We went back two more times - we liked it so much. Highly recommend for casual dining,

Food was great, servers should be retrained.

By EspressoCanadian |

We ate food here yesterday for lunch. We got seated and waited approx 10 minutes for someone to come and take our drink order or anything. The words out of her mouth was "Are you ready yet". Not hello Im amanda or whatever her name was im your server im here to help you out today what can i start you with? Very blunt and rude with their tone of voice throughout the whole time there. The latte was blah. Food is expensive. The food was worth it. Out of everything the food was really good. Service was absolutely terrible hands down would not return unless it was for takeout.

Superb Italian gem

By Curryandy1962 |

I love Italian and have to say the food here is amongst some of the best prepared I have had. Great flavours in a relaxed environment within a high quality establishment. Very authentic.

Tiny, cozy place to grab a bite or to have a drink

By Viva San Marco |

My friend brought me here after visiting the Frick Museum, which is just a couple of blocks away. The ambience is very Italian-American: pretty casual, some decor stuck in the early Twentieth century, yet very welcoming and easy going. The service seemed fast and attentive. The coffee tasted good, and so was the cake we had. I would't call it cheap, but it is not expensive either.

Extraordinary

By idatarbell2015 |

We arrived—a party of six—during lunch and the host or manager was very accommodating and was able to seat us within 10 minutes. Our waiter was very pleasant and professional. Food—paninis and salads—was fresh and tasty. Everyone was beyond courteous and helpful. Bravo!!!

Funky, friendly and fun

By Oliver S |

On my way to an appointment, I have half an hour to kill and enter this place: I've walked by many times, never been inside. It turns out to be artistic, friendly and offering great coffee. I must come back and check out the food, any place so pleasant is bound to have good food. **

A small restaurant with big taste

By Timothy L. Campbell |

My second time here, and although it is small, it is big on authentic Italian taste. I had the tortellini with Italian bacon and basil and it was extremely taste with rich flavours! We paired it with some prosecco which was refreshing and cut though the rich flavour of the dish. For dessert we split their Carmel gelato with fresh fruit with scrumptious. The front of the store offers fresh bake goods and Italian coffee for eating in or taking out.

Good food and service

By Naty K |

Very tasty food, amazing tiramisu and great location right next to central park, the Met and the Guggenheim. Good to Stop by after walking around the area for good food and rest.

Nice italian restaurant, great food and service

By Adramca |

Nice Italian place in the upper east side, reasonable prices and great food/environment. Service staff was very attentive. We had 4 kids with us and they were very helpful with dining options for them. Ahh , and great gelato!!

Milano Delight

By billyboy18 |

A great little Italian Lunch place off Madison. We has terrific vegetable soup and a couple paninis. Mine was with prosciutto and shrimp and a nice sauce. Good cappuccino and excellent service were highlights. Charming indeed.

Is it really italian restaurant ?

By Olivier & Co |

A bit disappointed by the "Italian" restaurant where everybody seemed to be hispanic. Coming from Europe, I can say that it has not at all any Italian flavor.

Great food

By pundit705 |

This little restaurant is a bit of a hidden gem despite only being a block from Central Park. The menu had gluten free options and everyone on our large group seemed happy. I particularly liked the grilled salmon that I ordered.

Overrated!

By C L |

This is a small - restaurant / gelateria that caught on years ago. Don't ask me why. The food is okay - Italian and fancy sandwiched. But the place is way to noisy and too crowded - and overpriced!

Perfect crusty Italian bread, delicious sandwich

By Joan C |

People waiting in line are just a hint of how good the food is. Restaurant is small, crowded and overall a fun experience. Typical New York City atmosphere, narrow space with too many tables but I would go back without hesitation. Food and overall experience worth it!

Quaint local spot, great for people watching

By AlexGil |

We popped in here for a hot chocolate on a cold walk around the upper East Side. Fairly exxy hot chocolate ($6+ in a small cup) but really enjoyable. Local hang out with fluffy white dogs in abundance. Lovely spot to sit, relax and take in the local vibe.

Some vegetarian items

By MihirMeghani |

Small restaurant with many sandwiches & some pasta. It is also a coffee shop. Some vegetarian items.

Quick Lunch

By marield1990 |

We came here after walking around all day at the Met. Inexpensive places are hard to come by near the Met besides hot dog carts and small food trucks. There were six of us and we got a spot in the back. The place looks small up front, but they have a back section that dips down and opens up a bit. The ambiance was nice and it felt like an old school shop. I got the La Madunina panini with mozzerella, black olive, tomato and prosciutto. All the sandwiches came out super fast! We had barely gotten our drinks. We couldn't believe it. One of us got the pasta special and we were impressed. Nice chunks of tomato. Sauce had a lot of flavor. The bread on the panini was hot and crunchy. The prosciutto was a little chewy. Every time I took a bite, a big chunk would come out. That is my only complaint. Everyone else seemed very happy with their choices. It was pretty crowded for around 3 PM. Our waiter was very nice and attentive.

Cute Cafe

By Travel_2_Texas |

My wife and I stopped in for a mid-afternoon coffee break following a visit to the Whitney, and lots of walking. We had two perfect cappuccinos and shared a very nice pear tart. The menu had many nice looking lunch items, panini, etc. In summary: Nice ambiance, Upper East Side prices, great menu options. I will definitely return.

Adorable little spot with tasty unique offerings

By Manny C |

If you want to dine in a cozy, intimate spot that serves delicious meals and desserts then Via Quadronno is the place to go. You will not be disappointed. My husband and I loved our after museum sandwiches followed by the notoriously delicious sundae. The server was efficient and pleasant. The wine was paired perfectly with our meals. I had a drink of port with my dessert. It was just a perfect spot for a late afternoon lunch on a Sunday.

Where the rich locals dine

By kitty567 |

We dined at Via Quadronno after an outing at the Frick Collection. The heart palm sandwich was really delectable. Right portion at the right price, considering the area. Definitely would recommend.

Hidden treasure

By Robert P |

We were in the neighborhood to visit the Frick art gallery and were looking for someplace for lunch. We just happened upon this restaurant and were absolutely amazed. A great menu, excellent wait staff, very reasonable prices. Highly recommend, we will be back.

Best Tiramisu

By Jasmine Nicole |

Though squishy, the delicious selection is well worth the wait. The Venetian Tiramisu is a must try.

Unfriendly and Extortionate

By tgc1988 |

I went into Via Quandronno this afternoon, and if I could have walked away without paying, I would have. I don't know whether today was a one off, but the atmosphere was totally rushed and unfriendly. The waiter removed my plate and coffee cup almost before I was done with them. It felt like being timed with a stopwatch. Secondly, the prices represent diabolical value for money, considering the quality of the produce. Neither the espresso (not filtered properly) or apple tart (stale and all pastry) were enjoyable. The $15 price tag added considerable insult to injury. Lastly, when I complained, I was offered a token 'neighboorhood' discount of a couple of bucks, which I paid on card and then signed for. When I checked my statements later, I found they'd decided to charge the full price anyway after I'd left, going back on what they'd promised. To summarise, this is a terrible option for a coffee and a snack, and one recommendation which Lonely Planet have gotten completely wrong. Avoid at all costs.

Good food, but Overpriced

By blayy |

Came here for lunch and the food was very good, place was extremely busy. However I thought the prices were out of control for the quantity of food received. I ordered a thick cut ham and cheese sandwich (average portion, not huge) with no side for $12. There were no soda prices on the menu but I ordered a coke with no free refills, got the ticket and saw it was $4! We finished with gelato which was delicious and one of our only items priced decently, $3. I don't mind paying high prices as long as I'm getting my money's worth of food, which here you do not.

Italian delight.

By Boris Vinogradsky, MD |

It was fantastic lunch - sandwiches, soups, all sorts of Italian cold cuts. Natalie - the manager was very nice, friendly and helpful. WOW!

Cozy lunch and coffee spot

By chefbaby2013 |

The service is efficient, the tables cramped and food simple and fresh. This is a perfect spot to grab a great cappuccino or espresso and pastry or a simple panini or salad. It was a great find and perfect breaking point if shopping along Madison Avenue or walking through the park.

Feel like a real New Yorker

By gina b |

This is a very local and International crowd. The food is simple but superb. Try the soups and panninis. Lets keep it a secret.
