Food was old, service has bad and management has no clue of his role.

By Maria G |

I’ve been enjoying Victor’s Cafe for the last 20+ years UNTIL tonight! The food was old and ‘ranciosa’, each dish comes accompanied by a side of white rice and black beans except tonight when the waiter put down the side of rice for each in my party at the table but only one small serving of black beans and quickly said this is to share and ran away. The water was never refilled. The ice for the water was given to us in a metal bucket as a side of ice for the table??? I have never seen such a thing not even in the cheapest of restaurants. During the meal the waiter never came to ask how everything was but at the end when he came to clean up he did ask and this is when I expressed my disappointment. He said he would call the manager and I said OK. Kevin, the manager, came to the table and asked what was wrong so I shared with him my disappointment and meal experience tonight. He said I’m sorry and asked if I wanted rice and beans? I said why would I want rice and beans now after this experience? He said ok and left the table and told the waiter behind me to clean up and bring the check. We were not asked if we wanted dessert or how they could make up for this disaster of a meal or anything else? Kevin, the manager tonight, clearly does NOT understand the definition of customer service and how to treat customers. The waiter was always in a rush and has zero experience. I will not be returning to Victors again, oh and by the way the restaurant was half empty which means this restaurant has been declining and proven to me tonight! The table next to us also had some sort of similar experience and conversation with their waiter hmm. Victor’s Cafe NEEDS NEW MANAGEMENT.

Excellent Cuban!

By asd24 |

Great restaurant off the theatre district. The Ceviche was outstanding! as were the Mojitos! The service was great as was the wonderful music that was being played.

Delicious Authentic Cuban Food

By Rachel-Diaz E |

What a amazing gastronomic experience! The ambience, the hosts and waiters were so accommodating. We were unexpectedly joined by 2 friends and they immediately found a larger table. The food was deliciously authentic and so well seasoned. The mojitos yum! The service impeccable. We were attending a play on Broadway and had enough time to eat leisurely and walk to the theater. I can't wait to return to N.Y.C. and indulge again.

The best always!

I have been going to Victor’s Cafe on 52th street in NYC, for about 30 years. My sister and I would always have lunch there before we attended a play.( I was there on 11/29/25, visiting my sister for Thanksgiving) my grand daughter and sister were with me as we were going to see the & Juliet, the play. We had a 12pm reservation at Victor’s. Monica open the door n let me in, my sister and grand daughter were taking a walk. While I was waiting for them to come back I got to talk to Monica letting her know how much I loved Victor’s Cafe, the food, drinks ,service, and atmosphere are amazing! I live in Nashville now, and Monica mentioned a family member was in a band in Nashville. My sister and granddaughter returned and Monica sat us in a booth in the back, great table, Monica also treated us to an appetizer as well as a dessert! I wanted to thank Monica for the great table as well as the appetizer and dessert, however she had left before we could let here know how grateful we were for the her thoughtfulness. Thank you Monica, hope to see you again, next time we eat at Victor’s because I want to thank you in person and give you a big hug!!! Con mucho amor y besitos, Olga

Fantasic Dinner - Great with Allergies and a big group

By poohbear_nik |

We dined here following the Radio City Christmas show with 11 people, 3 of whom have food allergies. The restaurant was very deceiving, the lounge area is small as was the entrance but the dinning rooms are spacious and we did not feel the least bit crowded. There was music playing but, very quiet for a busy restaurant which made it easy to hold a conversation. My son is allergic is Dairy, Eggs and Beef. My neice, dairy, eggs, beef, soy, sesame and peanuts and my sister, sesame, soy and tree nuts. Not only were our allergies taken seriously and managed, when our wonderful waiter saw my son reach for octopus off my father's dish, he told him he couldn't have it and replaced his fork! The meals were fabulous! And we tried a variety. The Ponle ropa a la vaca, Lechon Asado, Pollo Manigua, Churrasco con chimichurri all wonderful. The Bronzini Special was delicious. Those with allergies chose Whole grilled bronzini (special) and paella de mariscos and left little on their dishes. The Watermelon salad, salpicon de marscos and ceviche all fabulous too! It was a wonderful evening and thank you so much to the staff. I'm sure we will be back!

Great spot for brunch

By AcornOwl |

This Cuban restaurant was just right for a Sunday brunch with friends. We had sliders and sea bass, plus a few dishes to share. Service and atmosphere were find.

So great to be back!

By Ljsw05 |

Our first stop when returning to NYC post covid. It was as good as remembered. Attentive service. Perfect mojitos. Ceviche was scrumptious. Black beans always amazing. Nothing disappointed.

Fabulous Victors

By LondonMac1 |

Victors is always our go to when we are in New York for a few days. Have visited a few times before and visited again on Saturday evening for dinner before heading to a show. Did not disappoint - food and service consistently good. Always a great vibe and atmosphere too. Excellent cocktails and a great location. Had the snapper cerviche to start, was delicious!

Victor 's Restaurant

Our waiter,Pierce was very professional and well informed. The lobster tempura with the sea bass over wilted spinach with fingerling potatoes was amazing. The creme brulee was perfect. Well done!

Truly exceptional & tasty food and nice service

By RMurray847 |

What a great surprise this place was. We were in the Times Square area and had not made arrangements for dinner before seeing HERE LIES LOVE. Spotted the place near the theater, looked it up and saw nice reviews. It was early enough, we were able to get a reservation for 30 minutes later. The atmosphere here is great. There are several different dining rooms; we sat in the back, and I recommend that. It is slightly more kitschy, but just fun and engaging, with a nice mural and the right level of brightness. Service was pretty speedy; not so much that you felt they wanted you to hurry along, but they are also clearly accustomed to dealing with patrons who need to get to the theater. We had several folks serve us...all were great. And the food was great. My wife and I shared two different beef dishes, and both were outstanding. SO tasty. We also, surprisingly, enjoyed the black beans. Normally, the beans are just kinda a filler...but these were great. The plantain was like candy! Desserts were excellent too. Only complaint is that the cocktails were a bit on the small side and a bit weak. Tasty, but for the price, would have liked more. We had a great time, and I'd go again without hesitating. What a nice surprise!

Nice ambiance, delicious fCuban food, great service

By ChefAnnMt_Laurel_NJ |

We had a pre-show brunch here yesterday, everything is a la carte. Started off with the Bartolito appetizer, which was fabulous. I had the Cuban sandwich as I had never had one, it was hearty, plentiful and delicious, served with fried Plaintains. My friend had the sliders which were also very good. Service was outstanding, ambiance very pleasant. Check out the lamps!

Going Downhill

By LynAnn M |

This used to be our favorite restaurant in NYC. It is going down hill because the food and service has changed dramatically. They no longer offer complimentary plantain chips and the food portions were smaller. The service was rushed, our waiter told us it would be a twenty minute wait for fried yucca and plantains and they came out cold. Wait staff pushed drinks that have doubled in price. Victors use to be the place for the best Mojitos at a good value. I will not be returning.

Miami Visitor

By Jose R |

Best Cuban restaurant in NYC. Best food ambience service. Meats are top notch quality and the presentation of the plates were outstanding. My hats off to the family owned restaurant.

Amazing

By Hollie H |

We booked here to eat on Christmas Day during our visit to New York. So glad that we did, food was amazing, very friendly service, amazing atmosphere and beautiful inside. We shared the mixed starter for 2, which the waiter explained all of the items on the plate. Highly recommended!

Excellent food!

By GlobL |

We happened upon Victor’s as we were looking for something to eat pre- theatre. We were able to have a lovely brunch/lunch. There is lots to choose from and regardless of what our party chose, everyone enjoyed their meal. Would definitely return if in the area.

Memorable

By siladityo |

Unassuming outside, but a nicely garden restaurant with courtyard feel recreated inside, with paintings to match and traditional trappings. Attentive service. Tasty food. Warm feeling.

Perfect Cuban Latin Dinner

By Bill K |

Dinner before our broadway show. The Bartolito appetizer was fantastic. The Vaca Frita was done perfectly and the flavor was excellent. The Ropa Vieja was the best we have had since living in Venezuela. The water recommend a cabernet sauvignon with dinner and it was perfect. The Tres Leches for dessert was also the best since Venezuela.

Excellent Service!

By luxetrip |

A wonderful find in a city bustling with restaurants! This place was lively and fun. The service staff was outstanding - always there to refill water and efficiently deliver your food. Delicious cocktails, entrees and desserts! We had a great time and enjoyed our delicious dinner!

Victor's Cafe has still got it!

By Keega16 |

We had a pre-show dinner and it was SO good! The service was very good. The decor is great - we were in the in door "patio". We had excellent sangria, the 1492 Aperitivo Cubano was the best appetizer sampler plate I have ever had - there were so many delicious things included. We also feasted on Ropa Vieja which was great. And can't forget my favorite boiled Yucca with garlic mojo. They got us in and out with plenty of time to make our show. Stress free and delicious.

This is an awesome place!

By Alexander R |

This is an awesome place! Wonderful food and delicious choices abound. Starting with the drinks, I ordered "la jefa' Spanish for female boss. That drinks was truly delicious, a blend of blueberries and vodka that wasn't sweet and had sufficient vodka in it to send you flying after just two of them. Their Mojitos were out of this world, truly authentic and garnished with a piece of sugar cane. We got there early so we enjoyed cocktails and a couple of apps at the bar while we waited for the rest of our friends to arrive and we started out with a couple of apps. The relleno de papa (stuffed potatoes took me back to my childhood in Puerto Rico eating some in my grandmothers house while sitting under the big magi tree outside her house. They were absolutely delicious, tender, tasty, and succulent. We then went on to dinner where I ordered the Ropa Vieja (traditional shredded beef). Served with rice and black beans with a side of tostones fried plantains with mojito (garlic in olive oil). I was already too tipsy and too hungry to take a picture of the dish, but let's just say it was divine.

Mohitos Mohitos.

By Alan4B |

Stopped in for a drink to kill some time before a show. The CocoNaty Mojito is a must have for folks who love coconut. It’s an awesome mojito made with Bacardi CocoRum. Served with sugar cane stick. Not a very big bar, but pretty nice and great Latin music playing.

Unexpected Delight

By TravelgirlsTennessee |

We came for lunch during Restaurant Week and loved it. We had not heard of Victor's Cafe before going through the listings and decided to try it. Good decision. We each got the salad and rope vieja and were very happy with our choices. The salad had tiny chunks of manchego, lardons, Marconi almond and a champagne vinaigrette which was outstanding. The Ropa Vieja was amazing. Just the right amount of sauce, seasoning, and perfectly tender and moist. Our server, Lucas was very good and attentive as were all of the people there. We will go back on our next visit and try dinner. We will come back next time for dinner.

Good food but skip the bar area

By Drmelendez |

Excellent Cuban food. Not the portions you are used to any Cuban restaurant but are good. Make your reservation to be sure you get a table. Skip the bar area for food. The area is extremely uncomfortable for eating, even for drinks. Live music is good.

Great Service & Ambiance

By dooley22 |

Folks were very nice and attentive. It's a cool vibe venue. The guacamole appetizer was delicious. The pitcher of sangria (red) was wonderful. However, my vegetable paella was very salty. I was unable to finish it! So was a bit disappointed.

Perfect dinner for pre-show

By Laurene M |

Perfect dinner for pre-show— we enjoyed eating at this unique restaurant. We don’t often have Cuban food. We took advantage of the special three course meal with choices for each course. We had a shrimp ceviche and a salad with celery root for appetizers. Both were delicious. For the main entrée, both of us chose the roast pork which came with yucca and rice with beans. This was a very tasty but extremely filling main entrée. Both of us had the flan for dessert which capped off the meal beautifully. Service was perfect.

Wonderful Cuban food and beverages

By Brett O |

We usually go to Victor's whenever we are in the theatre district. Lovely setting and the food is delicious. Service is always exemplary. We had really great snapper. Plantains are delicious.

How is this place so good!

By Linette C |

Such a great dinner option for all occasions! Every single thing we ordered was fresh and delicious. The lechón was the best I’ve ever had anywhere. We had a larger party. We were never rushed and probably spent a good two hours there. It’s a really good vibe with great music and the staff is amazing. the table settings are not on top of each other like at so many other Times Square Restaurants. The pricing was fair for the food quality that we got. We tried a variety of appetizers, entrées, and desserts. Literally, every single thing we had was incredible. Empanadas, croquetas, tostones, cuban, lechón, ropa vieja, flan, churros. Not a single complaint. Oh and let me not forget the drinks. Very good and NOT watered down. Incredibly clean restaurant. Wonderful staff from the moment you check in. My absolute go to when I’m in times square.

Great Cuban food in midtown

By BillGibson1 |

I love this restaurant. It has a huge dining room in back with full skylights, so you get a wonderful ambiance. The servers have been here forever, and they are awesome. Food is great. They have great cocktails and wine. Overall, it's just a great place to visit.

Lovely setting and tasty food

By DeborahandAndy |

Went to Victor's for a Sunday lunch before a show. Great ambiance and service. Enjoyed chicken empanadas, ceviche, salads and coffee.

Great bread, average coffee

By Joaquin R |

very nice venue and excellent service very warm and personalised attention. On the bright side I'll say the bread was exceptional sourdough (tried the avocado and toast) and the avocado portion was very generous. Now, on a constructive note I believe the coffee could have been a lot better. We ordered oat milk which was disappointing, there is clearly no experience handling plant based milk and it would have been preferably not offered as an option, there were slight notes of burnt coffee as well but the quality of the coffee was not terrible. If I had ordered a tea(with regular milk) I would have had an excellent experience overall.

Always the right choice

By Chris |

Third time I've been to Victor's and I haven't been disappointed. The food is always delicious and the service top notch.

Improving

By LynAnn M |

Victors Cafe once had the best Cuban food in NYC. However, it was under new management and went down hill. I recently gave it another shot and was happy to find it improving. I ordered the Churrasco Skirt steak with chimichurri sauce and green plantain chips. The steak and service was better.

Poor Porsions

By Berkant Coskun |

the food was delicious but porsions are so small. paid over hundred bills and did not even get full..

Fantastic Cuban Fare

By Mark E |

Very attentive staff, great central location and wonderful food. We split the pulled beef and bronzino special of the day along with fried sweet plantains and guac three ways and it was more than sufficient. We weren't rushed; David was attentive and helpful and they didn't object to splitting. Wine prices were reasonable.

Very good Cuban food...

By Angel A |

Great appetizers and service. Brandon our waiter was just excellent, he can work at the best restaurants in NYC. The rice “Moros y Cristianos” was sticky and tasteless, needs much improvement. Shame on you. The “Ropa Vieja” (Shredded Beef) was the best I have ever had. A dessert “Bon Bon” (Lava Cake or Moelleux au Chocolate), with coconut ice cream was very good. Might be pricey, $252. for three with tip and no alcohol? Yo diria que está un poco caro...

Awful

By zmaninco |

The food was average. The drink selection average. The service was excellent! And then things got really bad. I needed a copy of the receipt and called in...was told I had to submit the request online and it would take 2-3 days. Filled out the form. Waited two weeks. Rude experience with a woman who only knew how to speak and not listen, kept asking if I had spoken to someone...yes I have and I was told to fill out the form. Asked to speak to the manager. A man was put on the phone who was pretending to be the manager. Told me I would have my receipt the next day. He said this without asking for any contact information. Had to go through my credit card company to get a receipt. Terrible! Unprofessional!

Great location and food

By MadridGalapagos |

This restaurant caters to theater goers in this Broadway district of the city. We loved our food and the setting. The only issue was that once they figured out we were not going to a show, they kind of took their time attending to us. That's my only reservation.

Lambda

By Nice_FranceMichel |

This place was extremely disappointing. To start with, it took ages to be served with drinks, although the order was most simple. Then the food was a total let down; we had ordered « Paella «, and like for the drinks we waited for quite a while before we were served. The dish was absolutely tasteless, and far away from what one would expect.......did not include the classic « chorizo « sausage, but the worst was that it was not even seasoned with any « safran « at all, which is a must for a paella, and therefore made it totally dull! On top of that the service was very poor and slow. Being a guest, I can’t actually talk about prices.

Nice cuban food

By Addaraq |

Wanted to get some typical cuban food and specially ropa vieja. The proposed food was according our expectations. Very happy. Only one significant bemol about the pretty much loud noice in the restaurant where we had almost to shout with the persons at our table

Great option for pre-theatre dinner

By John S |

I visit NYC regularly and try to see a Broadway show a few times a year. Lots of options in the area but not all are great. Glad I found Victor's Cafe on my last trip. More upscale atmosphere and a nice dinner before a show. The service was friendly and efficient, sangria was amazing and food was excellent. Highly recommend.

What Happened???

By Edwin Hochberg |

I had not been there since before the Covid started, and my past experience was just wonderful. I returned the other evening for my granddaughters birthday celebration. (she in the family had been there previously) and found the food. Absolutely terrible we sent back several dishes and finally gave up. What had been a great restaurant underwent a horrible depreciation. Let me tell you I know victors because when I had a farm in Cuba, I often ate in this great restaurant and I was happy of it transformation to New York City, I would advise you look elsewhere.

This restaurant never disappoints

By Olga H |

My husband and I would go to Victor's more often, if we could. Unfortunately, we live far away. When we go it's such a treat! We went for dinner there last Saturday. I ordered vaca frita, which came with a side order of white rice and a bowl of black bean soup. My husband ordered lechón asado, which came with yuca and moros. Everything was well-seasoned and authentically Cuban. The wine list is more than adequate. I ordered a glass of Malbec wine and it went perfectly well with the meal I had ordered. We decided not to have appetizers, even though they were very tempting, because we wanted to have dessert. I ordered some sort of guava tart, which was accompanied by a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. It tasted like the typical Cuban tart I used to eat when I was younger. My husband ordered tres leches, his favorite, and loved it. The food was very gratifying but the service was even better. It was exceptional. Armando Cantalapiedra, who is now the Beverage Director/Captain made us feel welcome and treated us like royalty. We noticed that he went to other tables and interacted with the diners. He also seemed to be overseeing the staff and making sure everything was running smoothly. We had met him during prior visits to Victor's and he has always been extraordinarily competent and a pleasure to deal with. Our server was Lucas, who told us he was still in training. He was very attentive, competent and friendly. Personally, I don't think he requires any more training. It is always a pleasure to eat at Victor's and this last visit exceeded all our expectations. It was a very enjoyable experience and on top of everything, we never felt rushed. As usual, we are looking forward to our next visit.

Not great!

By Nikkie G |

Service was lovely but food was disappointing. We hadn’t booked so we’re sat in the bar and it was freezing because the door kept opening. Starters were ok but mains weren’t great. Wouldn’t recommend as prices were high for very mediocre food.

Disappointment

By EDS |

We had been to Victors for a quick meal before a show in summer of 2019. We were so impressed and couldn’t wait to go back for a leisurely dinner. We are from Texas, so this was a rather big deal. Then the pandemic happened. We braved the high transmission rate in NYC and returned tonight with website assurances of outdoor dining. Turns out it no longer exists. If this is important to you, know it is no longer available. We had a lovely dinner at a restaurant with outdoor seating overlooking Bryant Park.

Delicious dinner within the theatre district

By Sheldon M |

This was a perfect choice for a pre-theater dinner. Right across the street from funny girl. Service was excellent, prompt. The food was also delicious. Between the two of us we had a few appetizers, shrimp, dish, and beef dish, as well as a Cuban dessert of guava cake and ice cream.

Highly recommended

By Sandra R |

Wonderful experience 10/10. Gonzalo was our server. He had amazing energy. The whole team was fantastic and very attentive.

Great food. Quick & friendly service.

By Caitlin C |

We were thrilled with our dinner at Victor’s Cafe. The food was delicious (except for the ham croquettes). The waiter was friendly and nice. The service was quick; we were in & out in an hour. The atmosphere is very nice. The only thing missing were some vegetables. We would eat here again.

Colourful atmosphere

By servicecomesfirst |

We had dinner at Victor's Cafe before heading to the theatre. The restaurant was extremely busy and we had to wait for a table even though we had a reservation. But once we were seated, we were served promptly. The restaurant is large and there are dozens of tables, but you are still able to carry on a conversation. We had the while sangria to start, which was excellent. The highlight of the meal was the 1492 appetizers: a mixture of Cuban specialty hors d'oeuvres, Our main courses were the chicken and rice, and the bronzini fish special. Service was prompt and friendly. Overall, a fun experience.

Cute little spot

By Elizabeth V |

Good Cuban food, great coconut mojito. Service was outstanding. Left my reading glasses back at hotel, waiter brought to the table what looked like a cigar box. When he opened it had cheaters ( reading glasses) of all prescriptions. Live 3 piece band plays in the bar section. Reservations a must

Extremely Disappointing and Embarrassing

By Suger123456 |

Saturday evening in New York. Don't come to this place. This "place" came highly recommended and so we chose to bring our family, who was visiting the United States of America from the Dominican Republic, for the first time, as a start to a lovely evening in Times Square, New York, the city that never sleeps. Well, first they greeted us with our table being dirty so that was pleasant. Then, I had to keep getting SOMEONE'S (any one's) attention so that we may be properly serviced as we were repeatedly kept waiting or forgotten which made our dinner DRAG ON. The little amount and taste of the food and their ambiance and the service doesn't not merit to charge for the little amount of service in all aspects, including tiny bathrooms where your knees hit the wall, so that was quite comfortable. If you are going to charge and put up a front, at least do a better job. Highly do not recommend this place. We left embarrassed, having to apologize to our family member and reassure, that America is better than this representation of what it has to offer its patrons.

TERRIBLE FOOD!!

By Gina E |

I can’t believe how bad this food was! I hadn’t been to Victor’s in a while and was looking forward to it. I always loved the Oxtails. They are COVERED in tomato sauce or something. What happened to the nice brown gravy and tenderness hey used to have? The food tasted so commercial and no longer authentic Cuban food. Shame on you Victor’s Cafe. You are now officially a tourist trap!

So good!

By thefords831 |

We went to Victor’s based on a recommendation from a friend and we were not disappointed! It’s a super cute little spot, and the staff were all extremely welcoming and friendly. The Tropical Chips were a huge hit, and my picky eater loved the Sandwich Cubano. The Cuban Quesadilla was also delicious - just wish it were bigger! The Coconaty Mojito was delicious as well. Would definitely recommend a visit!

So glad we came!

By Sergey B |

We’ve chosen Victor’s for our pre-show dinner and what a great choice it turned out to be. We have booked in advance (easy and fast using their website) and were among the first guests that evening. The place started filling up really fast and we realized advanced booking was the right thing to do. Since we wanted to try various Cuban dishes but were not in for a big meal we went for an assortment of appetizers, ceviche and vegetable paella. The appetizers’ platter features several items from their appetizers menu including shrimp quesadilla, chicken empanadas, ham croquettes etc. Everything in that assortment tasted great. Red snapper ceviche served with mango, red onions and avocado was also delightfully crisp & tasty. Vegetable paella with mushrooms, bell peppers, onions and asparagus, toppled with manchego cheese was very reach and full of flavor. All these paired well with Cuban versions of mixed drinks. It was an excellent start to our night out. The service was fast, courteous and attentive. We definitely would be back to taste other items from their menu.

Very Nice Cuban Thanksgiving Dinner

By NevskyNY |

Very pleasant atmosphere. Good food and pleasant service. We were here for Thanksgiving and the Cuban twist on the traditional meal was very good. Wish they put more potatoes on the plate. The amount was really very small. Still, I was very full at the end of the mean. Also, there was no bread or rolls, not that I needed more carbs. Long wait to be seated, even with a reservation. The manager came by later to apologize, which was very nice. She also comped the coffee to make up for the wait, which I am glad she did as I found out that they charge for refills (and I really do not like when restaurants charge for refills, especially when spending upwards of $100 for dinner).

A nice evening and a very good service

By FranzParis2014 |

Excellent service and the food is very good. Rare to have a dessert extra at the end of the meal. We had a really good dinner

Great place...excellent food and excellent service

By Nelson L |

Very busy place to go for dinner but the ladies at the entrance know what they doing. They very respectful and very friendly. I was late for my reservation but after a while they got us a table....thank you for that. Food is delicious...drinks just right....will have no problem going there again and again. Thank you Victor’s Cafe.

Must place to eat.

By A B |

Victors Cafe is located at 256 W. 53d St in the heart of the theater district. Victors hits all the right notes: excellent Cuban food, prompt and courteous staff, and lovely ambiance. We first order a half pitcher of white sangria. For an appetizer we ordered the guacamole and banana chips. Just delicious. I had the seafood paella, with a generous portion of squid, shrimp, mussels, and clams over saffron. My dinner date had the dopa views, pulled beef with onions and spices. Both were excellent. The wait staff was very attentive and helped with our menu selections. Definitely a great place to eat before your show.

Victor--It's Not YOU, It's Me

By KCMLive |

The service and atmosphere at Victors's was great! We were killing time before a show (the restaurant is right next to the Neil Simon theater where MJ is playing) and we walked in without a reservation. We were seated in the bar area and received EXCELLENT service. If you like Cuban cuisine, I am sure you will love the food, decor and attentive service.

Great Cuban food

By Caroline C |

We were recommended Victor’s and are glad we went. Good food and a good atmosphere. It was busy on a Monday night so we’re glad we booked online. Staff were excellent. I Had the stuffed plantain starter (Bartolito) and the house pulled beef. Both highly recommended. If you like mojitos then I suggest you try the mango one (seasonal) it was very subtle and tasted amazing.

What can I say? Been going for decades, love the place and the staff!

By FriskyTrips |

Been going to Victor's for decades, since its original location on 71st Street, and afterwards to the 54th Street restaurant. No longer live in New York, but when I visit, Victor's is my #1 favorite restaurant. I really come for the oxtail stew, fried mature plantains, delicious black beans...but my guests love the fish and so many other things. It's a mid-size restaurant but with a family feel - fantastic staff: reception person who makes sure you get just the right table; servers who have been there 30 years and are so professional; I like the sangria too. Sometimes there's live music in the bar, so it's a nice place to be if you arrive early waiting for someone. Location is terrific. What can I say: I love the place.

Good place!

By Heather G |

We ate dinner here before seeing a show and really enjoyed the food, service, and restaurant. I had the red sangria, Ponle ropa a la vaca, and ceviche and enjoyed it all. The portion servings were perfect (not too much or too little) and everything was tasty. Our waiter was attentive and helpful and the general vibe of the restaurant was lighthearted and fun. We will definitely go back the next time we are in town!

I'd never go back there

By Tibby |

We decided to go here for our dinner based on the reviews and it looks like a nice restaurant. We reserved a table online and we were seated promptly at a nice table. Our issue was with the service. Our server just was not friendly and accommodating at all, no smiles to make you feel comfortable and enjoy the dining experience. He then demanded extra tip money. I know you need to tip but to demand extra , I did not like that. Especially when your bill is already $180. But maybe demanding extra tips is the norm over there. The food was okay , didn't really stimulate my taste buds much and we were disappointed if that's what cuban food is like. It's really did spoil our whole experience. I think you're paying alot of money because of its location- definitely not for the food or service.

Great Lunch Spot In Theatre District

By amber m |

Had lunch reservations here on a Saturday before catching a 2pm matinee down the block. Everything from service to food was delicious.

Food, wine, service, atmosphere…what’s not to love?

By Joe H |

From the salmon ceviche to the ropa vieja, this is authentic (as best this Irish-American knows) Cuban food in a beautiful setting. And right on 52nd Street between Broadway and Eighth. Darwin served us with attention to detail and good humor. Wine half-bottles are available. Highly recommend!

Authentic Cuban

By Vicky C |

Very authentic Cuban food. A bit pricey, but worth it for the ambiance and good food. Very good cocktails as well.

Wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at Victor's Cafe!

By hollyc57 |

We had Thanksgiving dinner at Victor's and it was absolutely fantastic. The food was wonderful, service was top notch and the restaurant is beautiful. The price was reasonable as well. We had a reservation and were seated as soon as we arrived.

A Fabulous Dining Experience

By Betsy Knott |

We have been dining at Victor’s Cafe for over 20 years on our annual trips to NYC!! Everything about it is absolutely fantastic!!! The ambience, the food, and the staff are all superior in every way!! Armando is probably the best waiter in NYC!! He introduced me to the Branzino Sea Bass, and I highly recommend it!! The Guava Berry Cobbler is the most delectable dessert ever and well worth the splurge!!😋😋😋 Anything on the menu would be delicious. This restaurant and staff never disappoint!! It will become a favorite in a city of many excellent restaurants.

Mandatory stop in the Theater District

By Lisa K |

I eat here whenever I’m in New York near the theater district. Their black beans are superb. On this visit I had a perfect, spicy Bloody Mary. They’re accustomed to moving people in and out in time for shows at the nearby theaters but be prepared for it to be very busy.

Great cuban meal in the heart of New York City!

By Martine Gagné |

The food is excellent and tasty. Excellent service. Francisco was our waiter. He was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is very pleasant too. Truly enjoyed our cuban dining experience.

It was ok

By Jovy R |

The sangria was really good and we enjoyed the empanadas. My husband had the Cuban sandwich which was expensive and not on authentic Cuban bread. The appetizers are very small portion. However, the staff were friendly.

Awesome restaurant

By mlhughes319 |

Atmosphere was cozy, staff was knowledgeable, courteous and attentive! My husband and I loved our shared appetizer, entree and wine. The place was full, but never felt rushed and wasn’t loud. Plenty of time for our show.

A MUST EVERYTIME I AM IN NYC!!!

By LHE |

Go! Run! Enjoy!! It is just simply fabulous and you will not be disappointed! We go every time we are in NYC. The food is just amazing. The service is fantastic! The atmosphere is wonderful! I promise you, you will love it!!!!

Great food and service

By Lisa K |

Went here twice before two different shows. Location and food is great, prices a little high :) Service excellent. Would definitely come again and recommend to others.

Wonderful food and lovely staff.

By Barbara I |

We needed a place to eat before seeing "West Side Story." This was a great choice. We opted for the sampling of appetizers and they were all delicious and ample. The wine was lovely as well. The restaurant is attractive and quiet. Staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

Really Good Cuban Food

By MammaTheresa |

I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at Victor's Café which couldn't be located more conveniently to the theater district. The restaurant is very quaint. We started with empanadas which were excellent. I then moved onto a nicely prepared salmon. Paired this with a great sangria and I conclude that I couldn't have picked a better restaurant so conveniently located to the theater I was seeing a play at. What I enjoyed most is that the food is very different from the restaurants that I generally go to. Stepping out of my comfort zone helps me to realize that there are good choices outside of my favorite Italian and Pub type food. If you are looking for a restaurant in the theater district, don't hesitate to choose Victor's Café. You will not be disappointed.

Good Cuban food

By ldjs |

Very good flavorful food with lovely live music in the theater district. We stopped by without reservation after Saturday matinee and got seats at the bar. The service was super quick. The sampler of Cuban appetizers was delicious and so was the pulled beef. Sangria was weak, but flavorful and side of black beans was ok, but pretty average. The singer was quite good, performing with a flare and not too loud, definitely a nice touch to elevate the mood and add character. Overall a good place with tasty food, good for groups, especially pre- or after theater.

Unique, fresh food

By dustythoughts |

I loved the laidback energy of this place! We shared the vegetable paella, the seared salmon (the charred pineapple gave it an interesting twist!), and the codfish fritters - everything was outstanding. The food was authentic and fresh, and the vibes were nonfussy and welcoming. We'll definitely come back!

Dissatisfied and disappointed

By Me0217 |

Victor’s cafe was a disappointment from service. Food was very good but service was lacking overall. Also the ambiance of the Cuban cafe is gone with their entertainment which is no longer offered.

Service xxxxxx👎

By Departure167215 |

Service at the bar extremely slow, bartender just throw the cocktail menu, and been waiting him to ask me if want a drink already past 15 minutes, just over heard people complaining about the service too... nice decor great place, but service 👎

ceremony at Sheraton Hotel

By Derrick150 |

Went to Victors cafe after ceremony for my wife ,the food was okay but the portions are small we have eaten here before . I feel that they are over priced for the small amount of food you pay for,do not plan on going back

Must-go for Rocky fans

By Goldy8 |

Came here because of its association with Rocky/Creed. Looks just like it did in the films, plus upstairs there’s a corner dedicated to it. Feels just like you’d expect. Expensive, but if you want something special you gotta go

Best Mojitos ever!

By YR1979 |

Popped in as we walked past on a Saturday. The restaurant was booked but we were able to eat at the bar. Great food although portions were small, and delicious drinks!

The perfect place to end the perfect day!

By MrSixty7 |

Visiting NYC from the UK and getting married in Central Park for our fairytale Christmas wedding on 18/12, we decided on Victor's Cafe as the place to eat after the wedding in the morning and our ice skating 'first dance' in the afternoon. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left, Diego and the whole the team at Victor' Cafe, made us feel like royalty. I had pre-booked and it was just the two of us, thousands of miles away from home, but that evening, during our meal, we felt like we were surrounded by family. The service was incredible and the food was out of this world. I cannot thank the team there enough; you helped to make our special day perfect. Thank you Diego and team, from the bottom of our hearts. We hope to see you next Christmas and spend our first wedding anniversary meal with you!

Nice surroundings, good service. Average food

By mw_yyc |

Nice surroundings. Good drinks. Efficient staff and service. Vegetarian Paella and Guava Cobbler were both disappointing. The paella was undercooked and the Cobbler was reheated and burnt. A popular spot by the look of things, but completely forgettable.

Best Cuban Traditional Cuisine

By M D |

Best TraditionalCuban Cuisine👍👍 Some dishes can be also as fusion Cuisine Avery Eclectic and relax atmosphere and ambience. Located near the New York City Theater District and Time Square Service is fast and friendly. Food is flavorful and portions are plentiful. It is one of the traditional ethnic restaurants of the city and have been established for many years.

Dinner Here - Then to a Show

By Fizz O |

The food was very good here. the service was also terrific. It was within walking distance to Time Square and Broadway Shows. I suggest getting a reservation far in advance. The place was packed full! This is a great spot for dinner on your way to a show -

Amazing Ambiance and More

By Helene R |

Amazing atmosphere. So cozy and romantic with a sultry vibe as live music played. Great place for a first date or intimate meal with friends and love ones. The service and food was impeccable! We didn’t want to leave but had to get to our show. A restaurant which will be visited every time I’m in NYC!

Best sangria ever

By Fronda J |

We were in Havana a year ago, so this review compares Victor's to the real deal. No wimpy watered white sangria here-dense rum layered with rich fruit juices, large chunks of perfect fresh guava and citrus were a fruit salad itself. Nice presentation of a classic Cubano ham/cheese/pickle sandwich served with crisp plantain chips balanced flavors and skipped the grease you often find. A cast iron skillet of nicely seasoned tender shredded beef was topped with a fried egg. Nice atmosphere for groups, couples, singles at a small bar. Friendly knowledgeable service. All in the Theatre District. Not the cheapest Cuban meal, but not $$$$ either. "New York prices," so check menu online if that is a concern. Note: modern clean restrooms down a flight of stairs.

Yummmmmmmmy!!!

By Audrey K |

I discovered Victor's Cafe because of convenience to the broadway show and I am so glad I did! The place is really nice and the food was excellent. My daughter and I had a 1/2 pitcher of the delicious sangria. For dinner she had the chicken quesadillas and she said it was delicious. I had the Ropa Vieja which was amazing. The portions aren't big but they left us satisfied. We shared the tres leches for dessert and we loved it. The next time I am in the theater district, it will not necessarily be for a broadway show. Victor's Cafe will be my destination.

Ok Cuban food near Times Square.

By Sally B |

Came here for a late lunch. The atmosphere was nice and had friendly service. Husband had arroz con pollo which was tasty. The cubano was very large but nothing special. Empanadas were decent. Plantains were tasteless. Fairly expensive but this is NYC.

Fantastic meal near broadway

By Liz G |

I'm Cuban and it's hard to find food from a restaurant that reminds you of home. Victor's is one that my family has always enjoyed. Now, it has been years since I went to Victor's, and the food was even better than how we remembered ! Here's what our group ordered: Croquetas de jamón Yuca fries Tostones with mojo Cuban sandwich Paella de mariscos Lechón asado Churrasco with chimichurri Pollo campestre Camarones enchilados The food came with black beans and rice Pastelitos de guayaba y queso Churros Everything was fabulous ! The ambience was as it should be in a Cuban restaurant-lively and with live music. Service was great. I will definitely be coming back. It's incredible to see a restaurant that's been around for so long to be doing so well!

Generous portions, mostly average food

By Li Qin |

Went to Victor's for lunch and we were seated immediately once our party of four reached. Quantity-wise, Victor's set menu was awesome. Three of us had an appetizer, entree, and dessert while the last got an appetizer. The portions were generous and I was absolutely stuffed by the end. To be fair, I don't have a big appetite to begin with but we didn't manage to finish all the food on the table even after sharing. Quality-wise, I would take my review with a grain of salt since this is my first time trying Cuban cuisine. The salad, though interesting, is not something I would recommend to other diners. None of the appetizers we got left an impression so I can't really attest to their taste. In contrast, I quite distinctly remembered that the traditional roast pig was good. In fact, that was my favourite entree out of the three we ordered. Desserts were pretty average. I'm not sure what's the difference between flan and creme brulee but they tasted almost exactly the same to me. Tips: + Get the set menu + Try the roasted pig + Go hungry!

Great Cuban food

By Brett O |

Return to a New York favorite, Great Cuban food in a beautiful space. Consistently good Cuban food. The Branzino was especially well prepared. Diego was a superb server. Very warm and knew all about the menu.

Pre-show dinner: good food, mixed review on everything else.

By Jenny from Santa Cruz |

We went here as a large group for dinner before a Broadway show. +: The food was really delicious. +: The portions were hearty. +: Our food came out with enough time to eat before curtain, but not quick relative to when we put in our order. -: We waited a long time between ordering and getting any of our appetizers or main courses. We thought we had been forgotten and got pretty nervous about getting our food in time. -: Our group was smushed into a set of tables that was too small for us.

Wonderful time!

By Mo J |

The food was wonderful as was the service. It was a wonderful meal before attending the theater. We truly enjoyed our food and the atmosphere of the restaurant. We had the Vegetable Paella and the Ropa Vieja - both were extremely good!

Victor's Is Just Average

By Julie S |

Victor's was okay but not great. They had nice atmosphere for a pre-show dinner, but the food was just average at best.

Not the same

By Michele A |

We’ve been going to Victor‘s for years but yesterday we were totally disappointed… Service was just OK, the appetizer was overcooked, they started charging for the plantain chips that used to be a staple on the tables, even the pitcher of sangria was smaller and lacked the guava that made theirs a signature drink.

Average Food Excellent ambience

By vtbose |

The Paella was great. The chicken empanadas were sort of cold and limp. We probably did not know what to expect with Toscones - but it turned out to be chewy plantain chips. Service was a bit slow and the inside decor was great.

Great Restaurant

By AH1617 |

My wife and I enjoyed this Victor's Café. Great food, great service and a lot of fun. We had the ropa vieja and the lechon, which were both outstanding. Very nice ambiance. We sat at the bar, and listed to the awesome live band playing that night. The band asked us for our names and incorporated our names in a song, that was awesome and a lot of fun. Very busy probably a good idea to make reservations, or just walk in and hopefully there will be room in the bar. Definitely recommend, great food, great service and a fun bar. We will definitely be back on our next visit to New York.

Wonderful Cuban Cuisine!

By Brian P |

My husband & I had a wonderful dining experience here on a Saturday evening with another couple. We waited for a table in the back section. There is a bar area towards the side in the front that had live music. The front dining area seemed a bit more formal while the back had bright blue hues & murals which seemed more fun & chill. Either would be great. The waitstaff was very professional & attentive. The drinks & food were superb, authentic, upscale Cuban cuisine. We all had a lovely dining experience and I would HIGHLY recommend an evening here! I look forward to our next visit!

Wow! Great!

By iver0185 |

Fantastic Cuban food in the theater district! Quality and service are amazing. Tender beef...fantastic flavor...would go again!

Best Cuban Food in Midtown NYC.

By CES122 |

Great food. Good service. Very crowded. Use Victor’s Reservation. We were seated within 5 minutes. Shrimp appetizer and Victor’s Special. Probably 12 Desserts. Very good and cool. This location is loud with live music in the bar. Very upscale interior. Great for Dinner.

Probably better than many Times Square restaurants but only OK

By Sophy70 |

The cocktails were decent. The quesadilla was the smallest portion I’ve ever seen. The white wine list only had about a dozen bottles to choose from starting at $59. More reds. Paella was pretty good and a large serving. Expensive. We spent the same amount here as we did at The Union Square Cafe, where the food, wine and service were exceptional so this place was underwhelming. I wouldn’t rush back.

A delicious dinner

By Arnaldo R |

Delicious food, first class service and fast, a highly recommended place. We also found the quality-price ratio very good.

Great authentic Cuban cuisine

By AML50 |

In the theater district, next to Neil Simon Theater, very convenient. Delicious food, great wait staff and good music too. They know how to get you in and out for dinner before a show without making you feel rushed. The Cuban flavors were fabulous. Staff very helpful and thoughtful. Family owned and operated. Highly recommend!!

Birthday Dinner...Quality Cuban..Red Sangria..Perfection

By Jgal0 |

Had a reservation to celebrate birthdays. We were promptly seated after coats checked. Server greeted us and took our Red Sangria and drink order. We took time to pick out what we wanted. Just asked for an appetizer to curb our hunger. He brought us an avocado dip plated with fried plantain chips. So good! I ordered ROPA Vieja duo.. tried my friends Chimchurri Steak which was also good. We were all full from sharing the Red Sangria(recommend) and dinner we didn’t order dessert. However our server knew there were 2 birthdays at our table so they all came out and sang Happy Birthday with a candle in rice pudding. We ended up ordering another pitcher of Sangria and just talking. It was a rainy night out and the restaurant was busy. At no point did they rush us out. So between the food, Sangria and service I wouldn’t pass this restaurant up if you enjoy Cuban food.

Extraordinary food, service, decor - great value near theaters!

By FriskyTrips |

I’m not exactly objective. I’ve been coming to Victor’s since the 1970s when it was located on the Upper West Side. But the tradition of excellent Cuban cuisine, and the extraordinary service (in this week’s case by waiter-captain Armando (a 25-year Victor’s vet) made the wonderful reunion we had there with friends extremely memorable. My go-to main course is the oxtail stew – literally finger-licking good. Wife had churrasco with chimichurri sauce – she’s talked about it all night. Décor is tasteful-comfortable-tropical-lovely. We back for lunch the next day – couldn’t resist. Minutes walk from theaters. Try it - see if I’m not right!

Great place before a Broadway show!

By Kim B |

We had dinner here before a Broadway show. The food was wonderful and authentic but the service was a little slow that evening. We would have tried dessert or after dinner drinks, but we were running behind and needed to leave. I would definitely go back and try again.

Good service and good food

By Kathryn G |

First off, what's not to like about a restaurant that has red, white, and champagne Sangria (which was what we chose)? We started the meal sharing the Havana Guac. I had the Camarones Enchilados (shrimp in spicy Creole sauce) which was pleasantly spicy - not too much, but just enough to let you know that there was a little kick to it. My husband had the Lechon Asado (roast pig) and it was exactly as described on the menu. I had the flan for dessert and my husband had the warm guava cobbler. If you are not a fan of sweet desserts, don't get the cobbler. It was good, but too sweet for me (my husband enjoyed it however). The service was attentive without being annoying as everyone seemed to keep an eye on every table and glasses got refilled, silverware replaced, etc, without having to wait for the server assigned to the table.

Lovely atmosphere, great food

By acfan3 |

A friend and I had lunch there before a Wednesday matinee. I ate there several times years ago and wanted some good Cuban food. I was pleasantly surprised by the updated decor. The service was very good as was the food. I had pork croquettes as an appetizer and the portion was huge. My friend had a lovely salad. We both had the salmon special which was well prepared and tasty. They make a fabulous rice pudding. We will be back!!!

Cuban cuisine in NYC

By Charing |

Victor's Cafe has good value for the money and love the cuisine - Cuban food. I would go here before or after watching a broadway play. The staff were all friendly.

Great dinner

By Carol C |

We wanted a restaurant near our Broadway theater and it was just about next door so that was a plus. It was casual, but a bit more upscale with white table cloths. We had great cocktails and really enjoyed our Chef’s tasting menu - 3 courses for $45. A great place place to go to for dinner before your NYC show, or anytime.

Becoming our favorite in Midtown

By Joe H |

In the middle of theatre craziness, Victor’s is an oasis of food, drink, and outstanding service. Alex is superb-ask for him!

Cuban food and atmosphere

By dcm |

Great location for the theaters, with wonderful decor/ambiance, service, and food! Try the ropa vieja, black beans, paella de mariscos, and flan.

Worth a Visit!

By Rutman |

This is a pleasant evening out or for a pre-theater meal. I had a basket of plantains and salsa, their ceviche (the best I have ever had) , and the Lechon Asado, which is a delicious traditional Cuban dish of roast pig marinated 24 hours, slowly roasted overnight in Cuban style mojo, and garlic mojo yucca. The service was friendly, efficient, and helpful. I enjoyed the live band, however, the noise level was a bit high for a quiet conversation.

There is a reason the Victor's has been around over 50 years

By Jonathan N |

Wonderful restaurant. Nicely original cuban food. Not crazy expensive. Excelent service. A very pleasent place to go.

A gem in midtown!

By Erin S |

Everything was wonderful! Favorite find in NYC… great food, atmosphere AND service! Definitely a gem. Great job to the team running this restaurant.

Sunday brunch

By Rhonda K |

Great service. Sunday brunch menu… all dishes were excellent. Wonderful time with my daughter, nephew, and brother. I highly recommend

Best. Cuba. Restaurant. Ever.

By Paul M |

At least in NY City, this has to be the best Cuban restaurant. My daughters and I have been eating here for decades, and it is as good now as it was 30 years ago. We love this restaurant. The food is authentic Cuban. The staff are wonderful. The decor is unique. If you are in the Times Square area, make this a lunch stop. You'll get all of the goodness for a lunchtime price.

Anniversary delight

Celebrated our wedding anniversary We love this place, always try to eat there when in town Atmosphere is amazing, food always so good Service is always top notch

Bad.

By guzzy |

That's bad. A scam. We had dinner with some friends. We asked for a table in particular. They made us sit in another room. The food was bad. I am allergic to garlic and they served me a dish with garlic. Avoid

Friendly staff Food was amazing Fernando our waiter made the experience amazing Will recommend to friends and family Will be back

We enjoyed our meal - very attentive staff

By RedSoxJPC |

Went here after a show - got right in on a Thursday night without a reservation. I had the ponle ropa a la vaca and my wife had the lechon adado. We both enjoyed our meals - very tasty. Cerviche was also quite good. Waitstaff very attentive. I'd come back.

Havana day dreaming… in NYC

By Richard S |

Always a must stop when I am in Manhattan… and so far (with many opportunities) it has never disappointed me! Traditional Cuban dishes - Roma viejo, churrasco steak with chimichurri sauce, black beans and rice, sweet plantains - are delicious… The mojitos??? Maybe the best I’ve had… definitely! So… until I can make it to Havana, Victor’s Cafe will be my favorite restaurant for Cuban food.

Lovely atmosphere, great food!

By Ellen K |

Stopped in without a reservation around 6:20 pl on a Thursday. We were seated quickly, and told the server that we had only an hour til curtain across the street. We ordered Cuban Sandwiches and drinks because we didn’t have time for a big dinner. Our server , Jesus, and the rest of the staff were so professional and courteous. The decor resembles an outdoor courtyard with varied size tables and banquettes for larger groups. Definitely will be back for a proper dinner!

Worth the experience and food.

By Grace F |

Wow, wow, WOW! I picked this place because it was different than anywhere else I could visit while in NYC and they had gluten free options. SO glad I did. We started with drinks which were everything I dreamt a Cuban restaurant would serve. The coconaty mojito is a beautiful coconut twist to a classic. Guacamole was amazing, creamy with a few delicious chunks and perfectly warm and crisp root chips. I had the salmon with charred pineapple salsa and polenta. It was perfectly cooked and crisp without drying out because of being over cooked. Then on to dessert. I decided on sweet fried plantains which is actually a side but I was not feeling flan or sorbet. It was hot and crisp, just perfect! I would go back here for the ambiance, food and service. Reservations recommended because this place is busy!!!

Delicious Cuban fare

By Chrisl54 |

Lively Cuban restaurant in NYC! Had not really eaten Cuban food before but our waiter was incredibly helpful and recommended some dishes. Thoroughly enjoyed the food. Service was excellent, wine was good and music was played throughout the evening. Really nice atmosphere and a most enjoyable evening. Would definitely recommend.

Delicious, great service!

By Joy H |

Dinner with colleagues while working with a client in New York. Great vibe, food, and service! I started with a mojito (large!), and we shared starters (octopus!) and paella, along with our main courses. They brought 5 spoons for 3 desserts, so we had to share those too!

Returned 6 months later

By Pam F |

We ate here in February 2019. We returned to NY 6 months later and put this place at the top of our list to eat at again, Once again was not disappointed the flavors of the food are absolutely scrumptious. The service was top notch again. Thank you for being so consistent!

Delicious food and delightful service!!!

By Betsy Knott |

We have been coming to NYC for a week of Broadway shows and great food for many years. Victor’s Cafe is always at the top of our list! The food is delicious, and the service by Armando is absolutely impeccable. He is also very helpful with suggestions when you have trouble deciding. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, but you must save room for dessert!!! The guava berry cobbler with vanilla ice cream is heaven in your mouth!! Always ask for Armando!!

Yummy and fun!

By LauraJ65 |

Was recently in town for a dance competition and after a little research on restaurants near our venue, decided to try Victor's for something different. We made reservations for a Saturday night at 7:00 which was a good idea as this place was hopping. Our experience here was outstanding - live band playing in the lounge, inventive cocktails, delicious food and wonderful ambiance. We shared the salpicon de mariscos and the 1492 aperitivo cubano which was plenty for two. We also shared the dessert special which was a churro ice cream sandwich with chocolate sauce. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend Victor's and would definitely return, hopefully when it was a little less crowded so we would have room to do some dancing! Fun! Fun! Fun!

Will Visit Again

By Ewing Is The Place |

Made reservations for another restaurant however at the least moment decide to change restaurant plans. Was able to get a reservation same day and for the time wanted two hours prior to the reservation. Would not suggest you wait that late to make reservation however because the place was full, Would suggest reservations. Location of the restaurant is within walking distance of all Broadway shows. Food the food tasty and the pricing responsible for NYC. The staff was attentive, professional and friendly. As with many of these restaurants in the theater area the atmosphere is festive. Or to put it another way if you are looking for a quiet romantic intimate dinner despite the darken atmosphere you will be having dinner with people to your left and right for who you will not know . They will hear your conversation and they hear yours. You may also need to bring a small flashlight or use your cell phone light to read the menu. All that being said will return to Victor's Cafe again and probably again.

Parker says "Great Cuban in a beautiful atmosphere"

By Parker Sturbridge |

This was a truly great dining experience. Our server, Cesare (pardon spelling) was absolutely wonderful. And the food...superb. Start with a mojito or two while you wait for your meal. The roasted pork was cooked and seasoned to perfection, and came with sides of rice & beans, yucca and some fried plantain strips. Their beef specialty is a shredded angus beefsteak, again cooked to perfection with sides of black beans and rice. Excellent overall. And get a side order of tostones. Don't forget to dip them into the garlic laden mojo sauce too. And top the whole meal off with a nice flan, baked to perfection again. Come here....you'll love it.

Delicious!

By Ellen S |

We went to Victor’s after the Saturday matinee of Hamilton today. I had read the reviews and we were thrilled with our choice. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the ambiance was lovely. The four of us went through two and a half pitchers of tasty red sangria and ate every morsel on our plates. I would definitely return again and would recommend Victor’s to anyone.

One to miss

By Paul |

My wife and I booked this restaurant due to the good rating on Tripadvisor for our last night in New York. Sadly thinking we would love the place we were disappointed from start to finish On arriving we were sat at a table on a limb where there was no atmosphere at all. We ordered drinks and had to wait ages for them to turn up we were then ignored so had to call over a waiter to get us more drinks and take our food order. When our food arrived we were less than impressed, we had starters and main course but nobody asked us if we wanted desert or coffee. We thought we would see if we could get more drinks but my wife wanted to use the restroom first on leaving my table to find someone to ask where they were, as no one came over to as, I was shocked to be told that they were al out of order and she would have to leave the restaurant in the pouring rain and go next door to use theirs. This was the last straw so we told them to make up our check which we paid and left. This is the first time I have ever given a negative review but felt I had to in this case.

A classic and a landmark for a reason!!!

By AndresJumanji |

The food was spectacular. The ropa vieja was excellent and the maduros were perfect. the plantain croquettes were delicious but very small and our waiter was a bit inattentive. But overall, we would come again. It was a good experience.

Great ambiance and food

By Ana M |

It was our first time at Victor’s Cafe and we will definitely go back!! We went for brunch before a broadway show and the food, service and ambiance were just amazing!!! We ordered croquetas corral, tortillas de yucca con lechon, vaca frita with hash and the amazing torrejas (French toast with guava and cheese). The mimosas and the bomb mojito were on point!!!

Nice place

By 203alexr |

Nice place to eat, second time here, but churrasco with chimichurri sauce was soso (poor seasoning). May next time if not, then the taste from Victor Cafe is not for me.

Best Cuban food in New York

By hudsontj |

Best Cuban food in the city. Upscale restaurant with great, friendly service. Everything our family had was delicious. I recommend the Ponle Ropa a la Vaca which let's you sample the amazing ropa vieja and rich vaca frita. Maduros were wonderful. The big surprise was that my son ordered the homemade coconut gelato for dessert and it was amazing. Even the black beans are just delicious. We will be back!

Disappointing

By AndoverDan |

Small portions of just OK food. We ordered an appetizer of croquettes at the recommendation of our waiter and received three gum drop sized pieces. Weak mojitos in glasses full of ice and not much else. Disappointing.

Such a great place

By Raella V |

We went here for dinner before a 7pm show. The service was excellent, our waiter Diego was very nice. Food was awesome. We ordered the empanadas, croquets, ropa vieja (a classic dish) and salmon. The plantanos were amazing. We also got the tres leches and churros for dissert. We love it here and we can’t wait to come back!

Disappointed

By Dan J |

After reading the great reviews of the restaurant my fiance and I were looking forward to trying Victor's for the first time. The atmosphere was nice and service was quick, but the food was very disappointing. It wasn't bad, but very bland, almost as if no seasoning was used on anything. I got the Ropa Vieja which was cooked well. My fiance for the arroz con pollo which was by far the most disappointing meal. The rice was overcooked and wet and you couldn't taste the difference between the chicken, rice, peppers and anything else in the dish. Maybe it was an off night for the kitchen judging on all the amazing reviews, but for the price I'm not sure we'll be going back.

A slightly mixed bag

By simianfriend |

Gorgeous dining room with very pleasant ambience and warm welcome from team on arrival. Impressive service throughout. Food is good but perhaps not to our taste. We liked the idea of a sampler starter sharing plate and enjoyed the various dishes included, and not overwhelmingly large portion sizes (2 pieces per menu item) giving an opportunity to try different Cuban delicacies. Mains were good not great in our opinion; Arroz con Pollo was far too salty for me - a nice touch when asked if I was enjoying my food was to offer and bring a serving of plain boiled rice to tone down the saltiness, and this was automatically deducted from the bill, as you would expect, but with no fuss. My partner’s pork was tasty but slightly on the dry side. Not a cheap dinner but good to experience something different. And the location pre theatre is excellent.

Lechon Asado Cubano HUGE Disappointment

By E M |

asked 4Lechon Asado The Lechon was bland.no seasoning.Drove 6 hrs for this. No LECHON Cubano. tHE BITE SIZE ARROZ CONGRI WAS GOOD, THE TOSTONES WITH GARLIC MOJO WAS EXCELLENT. fLAN WAS BEST i'VE EVER HAD..WE WENT FOR THE LECHON ASADO which was acutally pulled pork which we totally dislike!! We like our authentic cuban Lechon assadfo not pork Ropa Vieja. Pulled pork takes the texture and taste out of an already bland prepraed pork. So sad Very EXPENSIVE... DONE! NEVER GOING BACK!

Good food and drinks

By Maysworld |

The ambiance is beautiful. It gives you memory of Cuba. The service is amazing and the food and drink is delicious. My favorite drink was Coconatty. Sign me up for any coco mojito. It is a great vibe and our waiter he was amazing.

reservations not honored

Made a 6pm reservation in order to go to broadway show afterwards one street over. Arrived at 6, by 7:15 still did not have table ready. Every time I asked about progress was told my table was in dessert and they would check. They just walked away to pretend to check and when they came back looked at me like they didn’t remember talking to me at all. When I finally left and ate at the McDonald’s close by- I got a phone call telling my table was ready- it was 7:15. Don’t make any plans afterwards if you’d like to eat here.

Excellent Cuban food!

Excellent food, service and atmosphere! Our Concierge recommended this restaurant and it was a wonderful experience! We Had dinner here before a show. The service was very good as was the food!

Five stars!

By gordon c |

Turned up in a group of five without a reservation. Were told there would be a five minute wait, which there was. Seated at a very comfortable table. The wait staff couldn’t have been more helpful, friendly and welcoming. Food and drinks were superb. Five stars!

Great post-matinee dinner

By Phil R |

5 of us, across 3 generations, recently went to Victor's Cafe following a Sat. matinee. We had 5:15pm reservations, which was good thing, as we overheard that the first open table (just for 2) wasn't until after 8pm. Excellent mojitos, chicken (our 17 year old said it was among the best he's ever had), and steak dishes, and they were very nice in accommodating our 7 year old's request for a burger, which technically isn't available until after 9:30pm. Great and friendly service throughout. Would definitely return and recommend.

Dinner @ Victor’s

By LondonMac1 |

On my first night in New York I enjoyed dinner at Victor’s with my husband. Restaurant had a lovely relaxed atmosphere and all the staff were welcoming and so friendly. We enjoyed a selection of appetisers and then both opted for Ropa Vieja. All of it was delicious! We also enjoyed a few Cuba Libre’s. Wonderful evening spent here. Would return next time we are in N.Y

Good forbefore Cabaret

By Chris P. |

We went before Cabaret on a weeknight, Victor is very convenient to the August Wilson. We tried the guacamole, a ceviche, yucca fries, some cod fritters, and the Lechon Asado pork dish, all were very good. Good mojitos - decent service. I would come back.

Had an evening here last week

By Chris |

Had an evening here last week and had a great experience. All the staff were great, the food was delicious and the atmosphere warm. What more can you ask for from a restaurant? If you’re in the city I recommend a meal here and you won’t be disappointed. Just make sure you book a table as they were busy when we were there.

Victor’s Cuban Cuisine

By KBWorldTravler51 |

Victor’s Cafe Cuban Cuisine was outstanding!!!!! My husband and I were in the City for one night and looking for somewhere great to eat and close to our hotel. So we started walking and came across Victor’s. The food & drinks (Mojitos) were delicious, service was great and the atmosphere was perfect!!!! Victor’s rivals the Cuban restaurants we have ate at in Miami. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great Cuban dinner

Fast, good and friendly

Almost everything is said. After a Broadway show, we returned to this establishment attracted by live Latin music. The setting and the atmosphere in harmony with the music: Good intuition. A selection of appropriate cocktails and a nice menu are essential. We all fell for a chimichurri steak... A treat and above all perfectly respected "blue" cooking. Simple but interesting wine list. To do.

Not exactly Havana, but still....

Victor's has been around a long time, used to be on the UWS then moved to 52nd maybe 10-15 years ago. One of their specialties is the Cuban classic "Ropa Vieja" which is shredded beef in a stew-like sauce. It was always delicious and still is. They also make a delicious mojito.

Great Cuban restaurant in the theater district

Outstanding food, uniquely prepared. Service was great as well. And as an extra bonus, check out the artwork - very interesting pieces.

Not Victor’s Cafe!!!!

By CPAROMAN |

It is not Victor’s Cafe from glory days. There is no anymore live Cuban music. Change in supervision to a non-Spanish speaking person. Hard to be back, the formula changed for the worst.

Incredible Everything!

Everything about our visit to Victor's was incredible. The ambiance was incredible. Great vibe, great decor, full without being crowded, exactly a place you'd want to have dinner. The service was incredible. Always there with a refill on the water, pouring the sangria, answering all questions about the menu, always there just a half second before you even knew you wanted them to be there without being intrusive. Food came out promptly. The whole staff is top notch. I can literally think of no better service experience in years. The food was incredible. Authentic Cuban, with just the right amount of upscale Manhattan flair. So good. The prices were extremely reasonable, especially by Manhattan standards, especially considering how good everything is. Victor's will be our new "go to" place when visiting Manhattan. I'd give it six stars if I could. It's that good.

Wonderful place

12 Dollars for Water and a waiter who just didnt care.

By ElmCityBaller41 |

We had a reservation for Saturday Night. My wife saw the reviews and it seemed very hit or miss but always willing to try something new. We showed up on time and was immediately seated. Our waiter was definitely not the friendliest. Asked us if we would like Flat or Sparkling. I said tap, he brought flat and at this point i knew this was just going to be going down hill. For sake of my wife i didn't say anything. 10 min goes by and he comes by and asks if we want something to drink and my wife gets a Spiced Havana, the drink comes and it has a half coated rim of cinnamon like the drink splashed and washed half of it off. She enjoyed the drink but noticed the rim as well. We got a appetizer of empanadas and they came out cold but what was worse is the sauce served with them was cold. They tasted Ok but very small for what they cost. For our mains i had the skirt steak and my wife got the ropa-vieja. Both dishes were supposed to come out with beans and rice. What was weird was that we were both given rice and was told to share black beans. The food was good , not great but solid good. The waiter never followed up with how our food was but did ask If i wanted another bottle of water. I declined, upon our receipt of our bill we had been charged 12 dollars for the bottle of water. Please see the picture of the food and drink i uploaded. This place was nothing to write home about, i think our waiter soured our evening and just started out on a bad note.

A pleasant surprise !

This was an after-show dinner and we were fortunately seated at a quiet table in the back before the dinner rush began. Sharing the delicious guacamole appetizer we wished for more than six chips - but it was delicious and we enjoyed the remaining guacamole with the chips served alongside our Cubano sandwiches - another delicious experience. Dessert was a rich chocolate gelato and crunchy churros. My only warning concerns the size of the Cafe Americano - I did not expect an espresso-sized serving! However, I enjoyed the food, the service and the ambience. Would definitely go again.

A Memorable Cuban Feast

By Arcee_CO |

This Cuban and Latin-region restaurant is a classic favorite, for New Yorkers and savvy visitors. In business for more than 50 years, it has an authentic Latin vibe, and an in-depth menu of affordable Cuban dishes. We ordered Lechon Asado (roast pork) with Moros – yucca, rice and black beans ($32), a large succulent plate – enough for two. Also, Pollo Manigua ($26) Cuban adobo crispy roasted bone-in chicken breast, with delicious sweet potato purée, watercress salad, Cuban mojo vinaigrette. Our salad (Ensalada de Palmitos y Mandarin orange, $15) also was large and flavorful. For wine, Crianza Tempranillo from Spain, ($10); other whites and reds from only $9-$11. The Key Lime pie was unbelievable – the best ever! Friendly, efficient service allows diners to make a 7:00 or 8:00 pm showtime. Our 2022 visit marked 30 years as customers.

Great eat for before a show!

Victors opens promptly at 5pm, there is a bar for u to wait at til they open.🍹 Loved the pulled pork & great paella (it takes 45 min to make bc they do it from scratch). Bathrooms were located downstairs, they were ok Located in the heart of most Broadway shows. Parking right down the street

Perfect pre theater dinner

convenient location and the food and the service very good. Noise level was low so we could have a pleasant conversation
