This bar was right opposite our hotel and we walked over on our first night in town We had great service ordering some beers and cocktails , time flew by so we ordered some food . Can't remember what we ordered , it wasn't bar food it Wass great meal .Maybe a chicken dish and a steak We met some people and had s great night Enjoyed it enough that we went back two nights later

My daughter and I absolutely loved our brunch yesterday before seeing Wicked. The reastaurant is just a block or two from the Gershwin. The mimosas, though a bit pricey, were very good. My daugher had the pumpkin pancakes and I had crab cake benedict. Both entrees were presented very well, prepared with fresh ingredients and delicious! Our server was very nice and the facility itself was welcoming and comfortable. We will absolutely return!!

Comfortable bar with friendly service and a range of tasty beers, a short walk from times square but in a less bust spot. The food we had was ok too.

Beautiful pub with dark wood. It was located right across the street from our hotel. We went for dinner one night because of it's convenience to the hotel for me to return alone while the other 2 jumped on the subway to go to a comedy show. All of us enjoyed burgers and fries.

There are many good restaurants/bars in the theatre district and this is one. At corner of eighth and 49th it is a 5 minute walk to the O'Neill theater. Great food and excellent service. Dinner for two, with 2 glasses of wine each was 85.00 with tax - tip extra but happy to give one.

We all had the beer battered deep fried burger and all loved it! Great service, staff was very friendly. Decent prices for Manhattan. I'd go again!

We ate at this bar and grill two different times after attending Broadway shows. Both times I ordered the veggie quesadilla that was delicious.

Had the pleasure of dining here, and let me tell you, it left an indelible mark on my taste buds! Lovely food and staff - would recommend to anyone who's in the area

Food was just ok but the service was terrible. Took and hour for the food to arrive. Atmosphere is loud pub style.

Restaurants ambiance is good, food is great but a bit on the expensive side. Stuff friendly but floor Manager was rude to us on New years eve, and forbid an employee to give us some dry rice after my daughter's iphone 7 fell in the toilets, he was furious why his employee was helping a kid even though my bill was around $200.

Solid level of food and service. Little noisy but very busy bar traffic. Nice random pick before the show. Pub menu not large but great burger.

I visited this restaurant last week and everything about it was excellent. The staff were very attentive and drinks we topped up regularly. The food was delicious, I only wish we had managed to eat a dessert.

Great atmosphere. We enjoyed the salmon salad which was very good. My son enjoyed the Classic? sliders. My other son ordered the shrimp tacos which he wasn't crazy about. Maybe the cajun seasoning? Not sure. But I would recommend this restaurant. Overall, a positive experience.

You might think this is another bar from the outside but the food was delish. Four of us each enjoyed our meals and Madalyn (our server) was helpful and friendly! You won't be disappointed!

We ended up here after a Broadway show because they are opened until 2 am or 4 am depending on the day. Great service and drinks. We had the salmon sliders with garlic spinach as per the waitress’s recommendation and we were not disappointed.

A group of us stopped in, tired of looking for a cab and early for our dinner reservation uptown. We were expecting a touristy rip off bar. Nope - a very nice place, moderately priced for midtown, great cocktails, a nice appetizer plate of hummus, tabbouleh and so on, excellent fast service. Felt like a neighborhood place. It is also easy to hold an intelligent conversation without too much noise - I was in town in part for business, in part for fun, dinner was a mix of both. This bar and restaurant was quiet enough for me to explain my Options income Blueprint service to someone at the table. Next time we are in the theater district we will try it out for lunch or dinner.

Nice space, should have been a nice atmosphere, but bad service left us feeling less than charmed. Wasn't that busy, either, so no excuses there...waitress seemed to be focusing largely on the drinking tables-seems like a happy hour hangout, which is fine but being ignored if you aren't isn't cool... The food: Fish tacos so salty they were almost inedible...took so long to get them and we were on a tight timeline so didn't send back but should have. One of us got the Trio of Sliders and said they were pretty good. Overall, wouldn't go back...

Close to the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square. Went there for dinner Wednesday night. Pros - clean, reasonable service - spouse had short ribs and child had salmon - no issues - fair sized portions - not overly noisy or crowded Neutral - burger and fries were decent but had better elsewhere Cons - salmon entree did not have much by way of vegetables

Located on 6th Avenue the dining area is past the long bar. Wasn't busy when we arrived but picked up as time went by. Our waitress Ashley was really friendly and helpful and everyone enjoyed their meals and drinks. Worth a visit.

"Real" New Yorkers generally avoid Times Square and the surrounding area like the plague. The one exception is when we head to the Theater District. Dining options are limited to overpriced low quality Italian food and chain restaurants. I was thrilled to find this gem of a bar and brunch spot for my mom's visit. They indulged in the specialty cocktails and enjoyed them. The food was quite good- he had the brunch burger and I had the lobster club. Mom had the mushrooms and eggs on toast. The eggs were a bit cold and the service was more bar than restaurant. In the context of the area, we were thrilled with our experience.

We had drinks here after a show and the waitress was so nice. Two people in our party got food and they said it was wonderful. Nice decor. Very convenient since we stayed across the street.

A nice traditional bar/restaurant, not far from Times Square which serves good food and has occasional entertainment. Drinks are a fair price for the location and the food is good quality. Staff very friendly and attentive.

Just around the corner from New World Stage theatre. A lively bar with a good atmosphere. I enjoyed a good burger and my wife had the steak sandwich. A good find

Bar and small restaurant that is definitely not touristy. Not a large menu, but everyone found something to eat. The Lobster sandwich was excellent and others loved the burgers. The service was pleasant and the [lace was not crowded which helped for a leisurely, calm mea;l with friends

We came here because it was in the heart of the theatre district and near our hotel. We were greatly surprised by how good it was. The atmosphere was fun and loud. Live music was later in the evening. The appetizers we had were great. Crab cakes and wings. Decent sized and a good precursor to the meal. I had the Risotto and my wife had the shrimp scampi. She asked for a slight diet modification which was easily accomplished. Beer variety was fine and staff was very friendly. If I get back to NYC u will go again.

We went there when we stayed at new york it was a few blocks down from us at “the row” hotel,it caught my eye due to being so pretty outside with the fairy lights😍 we were approached straight away and had lovely service off the staff, very quiet and well decorated inside, definitely the best restaurant we have been to, will be returning before we leave tomorrow night! The beef was so soft it melted in my mouth, werent keen on my cocktail as it had to much tequila in! Apart from that absolutely loved it, highly recommend!!

Holiday decor made this little place very inviting, but once inside - we liked it even more. Cute little place with a great bar. Large drink menu and great food. Nice menu variety for all preferences.

We went here after a show, and had a super fantastic dinner. The wait staff were all friendly and happy to help and answer questions. The meal was excellent. We did not find it any pricier than most places around and for what we had it was affordable and so good.

We just happened across this local corner joint one evening while walking around looking for a place for dinner - and so glad we did. In fact, we were back there 3 times in the space of 1 week! Great American food, a place to hang with friends, some sports on the TV in the background - that's all we needed. Maybe not as easy going if I'd been with family and small kids.

We used to go to West End Grill 2 to 4 times during each stay in Manhattan as we stay at the hotel across the street. Unfortunately, our dinner was totally ruined on our last visit. We were seated near the far end of the bar and had just started eating when three huge plates of food were placed on the very end of the bar for the servers. Apparently, they were placed there so the servers could taste test some of the bar’s food. Why on earth they did this at the bar, next to paying customers, rather than at a table in their mostly empty dining room or in their totally empty backroom is beyond me. Anyway, so we end up having to listen to three to four of the servers talking loudly and swearing right next to us while they were "taste testing" their apps during our whole meal. One server actually sat on the bar stool next to me. Twice!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes. When are employees ever allowed to sit at the bar during working hours? Eventually, we couldn’t stand it anymore and grabbed our drinks and sat at a different section of the bar that had been recently vacated. The bartender and manager wanted to know why we moved, and we told them. They both apologized but let the servers continue eating at the end of the bar. The servers proceeded to shoot us dirty looks until we left. The manager said she would take beers off our tab and she did. However, I noticed that when I got home the drinks were back on the tab as the bill was for more than was the adjusted receipt I had signed prior to leaving. We will be back in NYC next month but won't be back to this establishment. Too bad! Too many other good places nearby to eat and drink without such nonsense.

The staff was friendly, atmosphere was good, food was good but took a long time to arrive. We had a party of 6.

Was waiting to meet friends and standing at the bar was push away but a very rude member of waiting staff as I was in the way? Standing at the bar is in the way? Was planing to have food but went else where. Lady who served me lovely. Attitude from one waitress wrecked my visit !

this was my second time eating at the West End Bar & Grill. The first time we picked it at random because it was close to another destination. We found the food to be good, the drinks to be reasonably priced, the atmosphere to be relaxed and the wait staff attentive. This time we specifically came here for all the above reasons, and they all still hold true. We were here both times on a Saturday, early afternoon so they were serving brunch and that is the menu I'm reviewing. The menu is somewhat limited but there should be something for everyone, from eggs to burgers to salads. The meals are well prepared, a good portion size and the price is reasonable for NYC. The brunch drinks are also reasonably prices for the area, however there are many places that have unlimited brunch cocktails, this place does not. If you are looking for a good, relaxed, centrally located restaurant this is the place for you.

This bar is one of the coolest bars that I have ever been to because of its wonderful atmosphere of candle lights and the amazing staff. A great bar to go to while in NYC without paying a fortune. They offer bar seats, high and low table seats in addition to a separated seating area mostly for families as of being a restaurant too. Their cocktails are incredible. Their food is great too. Suitable for all ages and great for couples and friends to have a great time. I was traveling by my self and loved it too.

The staff! My experience at West End Bar & Grill was so lovely. We did not plan on going to West End, but our original plan to go to Mother Burger after Avenue Q fell though due to an incredibly long wait list. Scrambling to find another option as to not have my daughter's 15th birthday celebration fall apart, I happened upon here. I chose it for the pricing, but the atmosphere was lovely and they quickly found a seat in the back, it was 6 teens. Their waitress, Anastasia was so nice to the kids. I ate at the bar while they continued the celebration. I had crab cake which was delicious. I borught a cake, so they stored it and called me when it was time to light it and sing happy birthday. The manager brought my slice to the bar after I made my way back. The maitre d, Keisha, was also very lovely and kind. Good food, great staff, lovely atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.

Went for dinner before going to see Chicago. Great location, the theater is right nearby. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, no problem. Hostess was very friendly. Food served quickly and was delicious. We had Greek Pita, Grilled Salmon salad and Shrimp Asparagus Ravioli. Reasonably priced and great food!

You have to try the Ricotta Pancakes. We had them as an appetizer. Nothing I ever had in a pancake was this good. My Pork Belly Hash with three farm fresh eggs on top was the BOMB with a Bloody Mary or two. Very NYish, quiet in the back area and louder up front.

On the way to see Harry TV we decided to stop for a light lunch. Came upon this delightful bar and grill. It was a beautiful day outside and the windows open made it feel like we were eating outside. We had the lobster tacos which were really tasty! The sauce on them was delicious! We also had the summer rolls which were also very good! So happy to add this place to another place to eat while in the city!

Nice food & good service in this place. Drinks are nice & the staff are friendly. Overall a good find

We visited this bar for something to eat before going to see a show on broadway. We had a little wait before being given a table, but there is a waiting area so we sat and enjoyed a drink. The food was good quality and came quickly. I enjoyed the atmosphere in the bar as it was busy but we were not rushed, which i always appreciate.

Stopped in while walking by for very late lunch. They transition their menu between 3:00-4:00 and only offer limited menu with 4-5 sandwiches. I think it was kind of expensive for 1 burger 1 chicken sandwich 2 beers and one drink over $100 but you are in NYC! They were not busy at all at this time. Our server was a very pleasant young girl and pretty attentive. Only real complaint would be the limited menu but we understood

Stopped by after theatre for appetizers, which the group shared. The service was excellent. The Ceviche was quite good, as well as the Queso and chips. The food came out quickly, which was very appreciated, as we were famished! I recommend this place-great location!

Absolutely amazing food. Great food and awesome staff. Had the wings to start followed by the steak sandwich. Thanks for a great evening.

My friends and I popped on into the West End Bar & Grill for drinks and a snack for our very first time last May. The locale is inviting; cute & well kept. The service was friendly and prompt. We sat down at a table and ordered lobster bisque, West End wings, Trio of sliders & one of the 1/2lb. burgers. Of course we all tasted each other's food and everything was good. I thought the portions were generous as well. The drinks weren't bad either. I wouldn't mind trying some of the other items on the menu in the future.

Food was delicious, the wife had the ribeye but I had to finish it for her as she was full. Cooked beautifully. I had a burger and it was mighty fine. Staff are attentive, polite and friendly. Ideally situated for shows.

Great little bar with scrumptious food! The Heirloom Tomato Salad is to die for!! Open air seating adds to the fun of the hustle and bustle.

Our group of 8 ate lunch at the West End Bar & Grill on Saturday afternoon before going to the theater. The pub is beautiful with dark wood paneling. The pub is situated on a corner and has large windows on the front and side of the building which were wide open making the area feel open and sunny. They were serving a bunch/lunch menu during our visit. Half of our group had burgers/sandwiches while the other half opted for pancakes and omelets. I had the Crab Cake Benedict which was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The prices were very reasonable for New York City. The pub is only a few blocks from all of the Broadway theaters making it a great spot to grab a meal before a show.

Great spot in midtown for a drink. They had great spring drink options and full bar. The food was delicious and service was terrific. Bar and grill atmosphere with high tables. Highly recommend.

After a Broadway show, we stopped in at the West End Bar and Grill for dinner. What a surprise! We never expect to locate a fairly good restaurant in NY without having reservations but we were ever so lucky! The front portion of the restaurant is a rather loud and noisy bar area but there are tables in the back that are a respite from the noise of the city. We had a lovely server who was helpful with recommendations. I had the lobster rolls - there were 2 - and a side of asparagus. My companion had the roasted chicken, potatoes, and green beans. The food was quite good and we were surprised to find these offerings in a bar setting! Overall, we were quite pleased with the service, quality of food and drink, and ambiance of the restaurant. We will stop by again!

We walked from Penn Station with our luggage. By the time we got to 8th Ave, we were starving! This is a nice, comfortable bar/restaurant. The waitress was very sweet. I ordered a hamburger loaded, no roll, no French fries, medium rare. It was perfect! My grandson ordered the chicken parm sliders which he loved ( there were 3). My husband ordered the buffalo chicken wrap which he loved. Portions were large... none of us could really finish!! Great place for a good lunch.

Friendly staff with good food. Portion size was adequate and the presentation was 5 star. Pasta could’ve been served hotter, but delicious just the same.

We were in NYC in early August and visited West End Grill at least 5 or 6 times. I loved their lobster roll--had it every time. I ordered a side salad so I could put the lettuce on the roll. My son ordered something different every time and loved everything. We had Ryan as a bartender many times and he was great to chat with. We are going back to NYC in October and will definitely stop by to hopefully chat with Ryan again.

Visited the west end bar and grill for lunch on a Wednesday. 45 minutes after ordering meals, we starting to think the staff had forgotten our meals. But finally after a 55 minute wait they arrived. And don't bother with the shrimp and asparagus Ravioli.

Second time here this week. Good is very good. Comes out fast too. Superb service. And reasonable prices (especially for Times Square area). Try the burgers. You won't be disappointed.

Walked into West End with seven friends at lunchtime. The hostess was lovely and arranged a table in a small back room with a window wall facing the street. It was small, but comfortable and quiet! Rare in NYC. They provided a regular menu and a lunch menu. The lunch menu also offered a beer or wine in lauded in the price. Nothing was more than $13 for lunch....a very nice deal. All of us enjoyed our meals and our server Allison went out of her way to be sure we got out in time for our theatre. Place was very clean...another plus!

Had a reservation for Sunday brunch before a Broadway matinee. The host was pleasant and efficient, even noticing our two-top table wobbled and immediately shimmed it up to stabilize it. The atmosphere was fun enough and it's within walking distance of a number of Broadway theaters - ours less than two minutes on foot. That's where the good stuff ends. Starting with drinks: we both ordered the house Bloody Mary. On to food - our server was not familiar with, what for brunch, is a pretty limited menu. When I asked him what the "carrot hash" side dish is, he didn't believe it was on the menu. When I pointed to it, he told me he'd never seen it and didn't know what it was. As it was relatively inexpensive and trying to be friendly, I told him I'd have it and we could both learn what it was. (for the uneducated like me, answer at the end of the review). I also ordered the French toast and a side of bacon. My wife ordered the avacado toast. After a slightly long wait our drinks were delivered - two of the house Sangria drinks. We reminded our server that we ordered Bloody Mary's. The Sangria was left on our table while the server went to check the order, inferring that we, not he, had made the error. After another wait the Sangria was retrieved and after a longer wait (we'd obviously been pushed to the back of the bar queue after the failed Sangria delivery) the Bloody Marys arrived. About that time, our food was delivered. Avacado toast for my wife, carrot hash and an omlette for me, except you may recall I ordered French toast. The deliverer (not our server) took the omlette away and several minutes later the host stopped by to apologize and tell me that the French toast would be out in two minutes. After watching multiple orders (we were seated near the kitchen) delivered I eventually went back to the host after around 10 minutes (my wife had finished her meal) and inquired about the French toast. Fortunately it was being delivered even as we started speaking. It was fresh and piping hot, so obviously not sitting under a heat lamp, just not prioritized as it should have been after a failed order, just like the drinks should have been. Ultimately, decent atmosphere, decent though not differentiating food and service that could put you in a really bad mood before or after seeing your play. BTW - if you've read this far and are wondering, "carrot hash" is hash browns with a little shaved carrot in them.

This Danny Meyers restaurant did not live up to the others I’ve experienced. My grilled prawn salad was good, nothing special. I asked for a lightly dressed salad, but mine was over dressed. Tasty prawns & beautifully presented though. We had to wait an interminably long time for a server, even to the point of needing to ask the hostess for one. No bread came immediately as I’ve come to expect at a Danny Meyers restaurant. When it finally did come with our entrees, it was a nice crusty bread that paired well with the grassy olive oil. I had still water, my family had sparkling. Yet, when the waiter came to refill our glasses, he didn’t ask, & poured the sparkling into my glass. He also was not familiar with the menu. We got more of an explanation from the hostess. And, he attempted to clear our plates but leave the bowl of fries. Well, where did he think we were going to put those fries? My disappointment with this restaurant comes because Danny Meyers restaurants are renown for their good service. Not my experience at this one.

We escaped the rain and popped in for shelter while our son was at a show. Really friendly and welcoming staff. Great beer, although the pint size seems to vary in the US and theirs seemed small by comparison. The food looked great but we had eaten. Would definitely revisit.

Quite, small, friendly. Had a burger and fries. Very tasty. Sat at a table, but the bar was the place to be!

Steak was over cooked and over seasoned. The steak literally tastes like a pumpkin pie. Very expensive for not great food. Full of drunks too whom are very loud. I also felt rushed to leave by the server who kept checking if we paid yet.

Unexpectedly good experience. Quality martini that was not watered down. Both of us ordered the truffle mac and cheese which arrived hot and the portion was substantial. Filled with tourists and prices reflect the still Times Square location but the staff were friendly and efficient. Clean and updated restrooms. Long bar and quality stools and table tops instead of the rickety garbage found many places. Nice touch

Brilliant quality, and great service.... Live entertainment some nights, speedy service and a wide range of drinks available

We ate here 3 times!! It was that good. The Lobster Roll sandwich, Several varieties of salads (get the rice balsamic dressing - YUM) and burgers were top notch! Teenagers approved as well! Almost embarrassing how many times we came back!! We loved the food and prices were decent for NY. Near Times Square and a great little spot. cute restaurant. We ate both lunch and dinners here.

Ok. The west end is a nice place, good decor, and an upscale crowd. If you have a date I would definately recommend it. However if you just want to drink try Rudy's Bar and Grill on 9th Ave. Rudys is a neighborhood joint. But the the differences are significant , a bottle of Bud and a shot Bushmills, at West End $17 at Rudy's $7. Your choice

A very short walk from our hotel, this looked like a swell spot for a drink. It was warm and had a nice crowd that was not too thick yet enough to show the place was good. Without fuss, we got two seats at the bar and we got service right away. The barkeep, a friendly sort asked what we wanted in detail. They made her a nice drink and when asking me about my wish for a whisky to explore in the shelves that I'd not had they made a few suggestions. It was very good, but not cheap as expected for anything good. Guy next to me was eating a fantastic looking hanger steak, it was gone very quickly and he seemed very happy with it. The place was so nice we came back another night on our short stay in NY. With so many other bars to pick I say that as testimonial of a good place you should look at.

Great bar! I went with my boyfriend for a drink and we both loved what we got. I would return for the food! It looked really good, we did not eat since we just got burgers somewhere else.

Our first stop in New York was the West End Bar and Grill. A great little bar with real local atmosphere, decent beer and passable nachos

This was some of the best quick food I've ever had. It was well worth the price and near all of the theatres as well as right by Times Square.

We stopped in here immediately arriving from traveling to NYC. We were hungry and thirsty. We sat at the bar. The other patrons were friendly. The bartender, Juliana, served us with a smile. I had a glass of Chardonnay and my husband had a beer. We ordered the chicken wings with sriracha & honey. The blue cheese was chunky and amazing. There were two pieces of celery and carrots. We immediately asked for more to dip in the blue cheese. The wings were awesome and plentiful!!

We stopped in after Mean Girls, not expecting much and were pleasantly surprised with a terrific waitress & delicious dinner. Our waitress suggested salmon and she was right, it was excellent. Well priced and highly recommend

A gastric pub atmosphere. Long bar with plenty of space. Good for an after work drink. Pints are not really pints. Even smaller glasses than usual. Guinness wasn't particularly good

This restaurant was the first place we ate at being close to the theater we had for Broadway show. The service was top notch. The food was totally amazing fresh & plentiful. Our wine choices were great. Loved this place & would return on a subsequent visit to NYC.

We took a brief stroll out from our hotel and decided to stop here for early afternoon drinks and appetizers. The place is clean and attractive, with friendly, courteous staff. Prices were pretty reasonable and food portions were good. Good location for a break while exploring a popular part of Manhattan.

Wonderful bar and grill. Super friendly staff with a large menu. They have a very reasonable lunch menu with about 8 or 9 selections which includes either a beer or glass of house wine for $15.95. Great find for NYC.

Incredibly great service and delicious food. I had the Classic Burger with portabella mushrooms and grilled onions, topped off with hand-cut fries. Perfect.

My two daughters and I ate an early dinner here upon arrival to NYC. Location was great, just a block off Broadway. We had delicious cocktails and ordered the slider sampler, steak salad, and chipotle chicken wrap. Everything was delicious but we especially enjoyed the sampler. We chose the chicken parm, salmon, and pastrami for our three choices. Great fries come with it. Service was very good, prices reasonable.

My family and I ate here. Food was fresh and tasty. We had pleasant service. I was able to find a healthy option. Everyone was satisfied. I would eat here again.

Came in for dinner before Mean Girls. Excellent dinner. I had the short ribs omg. So good better than home. Friends had salmon. Also excellent. Made concession in Salmon cook.

Decent appetizers, good service, average prices. Can get crowded so stop in early if you don't want to wait or don't like a louder noise level.

We went there for breakfast but regret we went there. Our experience was very bad and spoiled our morning. We were seated next to the window. The restaurant was not busy only 3-4 tables was occupied and yet we had to wait a long time. The waitress came and handed us menus. I asked for glass of water, she nodded and left. 10 minutes passed, no one came back near our table. I had to call and ask them again for water. After next 10 minutes, she came to take our order. We order one medium cooked egg, two sides of hashed potatoes and toasted bread along with 2 cappuccino. We waited for another 15 minutes (which was a long time considering the restaurant was empty) and a guy brought the eggs, one side of hashed potatoes, one oatmeal bowl and burned toast. I corrected him that I did not ordered oatmeal but two sides of hashed potatoes and the toast is burned. He took away the oatmeal and never replaced the toast. Disappointed, we asked for the bill but instead of bill he brought 2 cold cups of cappuccino. I assume, they forgot to bring them earlier but could have warmed it up at least if that was the case. Terrible service and food does not even taste good. I would suggest to go to another place if you wish to have a decent breakfast.

Had a fabulous meal here on our recent trip to NY. I am a vegetarian and the veggie burger was so nice. Really tasty and the chips were to die for. My partner had a classic burger and he also said it was extremely good. Staff were lovely. Will definitely eat here again when we are back in town.

I wrote a review of this place in 2014 and we returned yesterday and I still feel the same. We both tried their grilled cheese sandwich, with brie, apple slices and bacon. WOW, very, very good. Unfortunately, the fries that came with that were terrible. They tasted of bad grease and were soft and mushy. I didn't eat them. However, the very tasty sandwiches made up for it. It was an early dinner and the place was packed AND very, very noisy.

Dinner was tasty, lots of good burgers! They have a good selection of drinks - the coconut martini was delicious! For me, this was a great choice for a laid back pre-show dinner. The server was aware of our time constraints and we were out with time to spare (6:30 reservation/8:00 show). Prices are reasonable, clean bathrooms, good noise level.

We dropped in for lunch before heading to the airport. I chose items from from the 20 dollar table d'hote menu and my daughter chose from a la carte. Neither of us were disappointed. What gorgeous food and attentive friendly staff. I even asked for 2 spoons so that we could share a dessert and this was not a problem. The place was full of regulars who were known to the staff which says a lot about the place. I just wish we had found the West End Bar and Grill earlier in our holiday!

Love West End Grill! Great food, friendly staff and vibe. Perfect for a bit to eat before or after a show. George, Kevin and the rest of the staff could not be nicer.

This is the first bar/restaurant we visited in NYC and I’m glad we found it. The food was delicious as were the cocktails. We visited late afternoon but I would imagine this would be a great spot for a few evening drinks too.

Excellent pre matinee lunch! Fun vibe and so close to theaters yet out of the rush of Times Square. Manager Sarah made sure we were in and out on time and yet relaxed and enjoyed the meal.

We thought that we had found somewhere really new and different when we came across the West End Bar & Grill on Eighth Avenue. Dishes such as shrimp and asparagus ravioli sounded mouth-watering...so we sat down and ordered. The food tasted good, but, and of course it might be a complete coincidence, we both had upset stomachs later. But do go and try it.

Dropped in for a pre theater dinner and was pleased with the service and the menu options. The buffalo chicken was spicier then expected but the hamburger was outstanding. Highly recommend.

Had lunch here, food was good, but nothing special. We all had hamburgers and fries. Burgers and fries were what you would find anywhere. I would say for what we got prices were high.

After returning to this bar after a great visit over 2 years a go... I had high expectations. It didn't disappoint. During our stay we ate from both the brunch and main menus - the food was great on both accounts. Great to see that the fish tacos remained on the menu. The staff are friendly yet efficient and it boasts a great atmosphere! Can't wait to return :)

We chose West End for an early dinner before going to a show because it was close to our hotel. Glad we did! Typical small bar with a nice vibe and a menu you would expect from a bar & grill. There is a small back room that took us away from some of the bar noise. Service was good, food was good and the cost was reasonable for NY. We would definitely go back if we are in the neighborhood.

Loved it last year, but this time was just ok. 2 people had sliders and fries - slider fillings were tiny and fries were cold. I had short ribs recommended by waiter - they were very tough which should never happen with short ribs and the mashed potatoes were luke warm. Would have sent back but was late as we were too hungry.

We ate here several times because it was across the street from our hotel and we really liked the food. We also went to happy hour a couple of times. Would recommend.

My cousin know's the owner so he picked here to meet up before the concert, as there was a big crowd of us they used the big table just inside the door and just had different platters of finger food,(which was lovely)myself, husband and son wanted a proper meal!! so even though the place was jammers we got a table down the back and meal was delicious, great food great atmosphere will definitely go back.

We were a party of 8 ladies on a bus day trip from Maryland and received great service from the staff. Food was delicious and the drinks were great. As an added unintentional bonus, Jeff (I think a manager) continued with a tremendous level of service when I left a shopping bag there and he took the time to pack and mail it to me! Overall very positive experience!!

We walked in at 11:15 at night to grab some dinner after our show and we weren't disappointed. It was a Sat. night and there was a jazz band playing and were greeted right away. Our waitress was super friendly and prompt. We had lighter fare because of it being late but everything was freshly made and delicious. We would definitely recommend this place and would return again when we visit the city.

We had sliders trio - salmon and pastrami - both great. The fries were also great. Others had salads - everyone enjoyed their food.

Friendly staff and an above average standard of bar food. Drinks were excellent, with a good selection.

We went here because it was close to our hotel and were quite pleased. Our server was very friendly and when I asked to hold the bleu cheese on my steak salad she immediately offered that I could choose another cheese. The salad was very good and the piece of steak good sized and cooked perfectly. My children raved about the chicken parm sliders and hubby enjoyed the crab cake sandwich. There was a very good variety of food choices and prices were very reasonable for NYC. Only minor complaint is that it was very loud - the bar was a little crowded at the time we went.

We wanted to go to another place but there was an hour and a half wait so the specials on the sign outside caught our eye. Food was amazing and service was great!

Had a quick and easy New Years Eve Dinner, at West End Grill. We come to NYC every year, for NY Eve, and stay across the street at The Hilton Garden Inn. We eat at West End Grill 2-3 times every trip, tonight our second this trip. The atmosphere is "NY Bar." While we have had other menu items, the Burger and Fries, are the BEST in the City. The burger, made with a special recipe of 3 different types of beef, is absolutely delicious and always cooked to Perfection, for us, Medium Rare. The fries, hand cut daily are the BEST! We started, by sharing a Clam Chowder, also delicious. We were full, so did not have dessert! Highly recommend!

Fit the bill for late night dinner and drinks. After a day of sightseeing it was a welcome rest before heading across the street to our hotel.

We left the theatre and stumbled upon this place for an after show drink. Srvice ws average. Beer was cold. The White Wine was warm, so the ladies had to ask for ice.

We were looking for a place open on Christmas Day. I selected the fried zucchini sandwich because it was different. The house cut fries were an added delight.

Went here for supper and ordered the slider trio. The American slider tasted like fish. There was also only one salt shaker for 3 tables in the back where we were seated. The service was slow and they didn't check in to see how our meal was. There are better places around this area, give them a try...

This was located across from our hotel. Food was great...had a burger and an appetizer. However, be advised it is very expensive...$145 for 2 burgers, 1 tacos, 3 drinks and an appetizer (including standard tip)

Great little bar with comfortable atmosphere. Happy hour drinks were great. Have considered returning to get a good cocktail that’s been surprisingly hard to find elsewhere.

Excellent little bar and grill to stop in and have a quick sit-down lunch before checking in to the Hilton Garden Inn across the street. Had the lunch special of a salad with grilled chicken and a free glass of wine. It was fresh, delicious and refreshing. The server was very friendly and service was quick. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting New York City.

I’m so glad we found this place! We visit NYC at least 3 times a year and always try to find a new place to eat at. We decided to give this place a try and we are so glad we did! We were there on a Sunday and got to enjoy a delicious brunch. The service was very good too. I have no complaints and I would recommend. We are absolutely going back in a few weeks when we return to NYC.

Two of us had dinner here before a show because it was close to our hotel. My entree was the braised short ribs which was following off the bone tender served with delicious vegetables. My friend enjoyed carrot cake for dessert. Service was good but be aware this has a noisy warlike atmosphere. Maybe because it is designed with a long bar? And can get crowded. Ok for dinner probably better for meeting for drinks but still good food and very convenient location

After long walk in Central Park I made a good choice, stopping by this bar. The food was very good. I’ve tried for the first time a tuna tartar. It was delicious! I liked the stylish interior of this bar and goo atmosphere. The service was okay and the local bier was good too. I recommend this bar.

Have been going to west end grill for about 5 years and there have been some changes over that time. Mostly good food, wine and beer selection and nice ambiance and good servers. Went there on the Saturday after thanksgiving pre-theatre. Had the special herb roasted turkey dinner. Was expecting usual fare but the meal exceeded our expectations. The turkey was ample portion and moist--not dry at all--cranberry sauce was dark and flavourful, brussel sprouts were nicely roasted -- large, firm and buttery --excellent stuffing and a large portion of mashed potatoes lightly salted and creamy. Turkey dinners can be tough going but west end grill did an amazing job of it. Great pre-theatre meal!

Stopped in solo on a Monday night for a quick dinner at the bar. Good, friendly service, neighborhood feel, very average and overcooked burger. Typical NYC prices for food and drinks, but there are so many bars/pubs in the area to have to settle. Not sure about happy hour specials.

Great location for shows. Service excellent. A little slow in delivery of food. Prices reasonable. The Pastrami hash was so so. Not enough meat. Pastrami junks overlooked. Taste was excellent

We stopped here for pre-theater cocktails and a light snack. The place was not busy, yet the bar tender was inattentive, mostly because he was busy chatting up the woman at the other end of the bar. We asked about an appetizer menu and the bar tender gave us the brunch menu instead. Drinks were OK, but at the usual high NYC prices, we expect better service. He did not give us napkins, and did not check on us once.

Went to Sunday brunch at this spot and was excited based on the positive reviews. The bloody mary was bland and nothing special, I had to add in salt and pepper to jazz it up. The waitress was really rude and MIA the whole time. My girlfriend and I each ordered burgers and shared a fruit bowl and blueberry pancakes, and when the food arrived, my friend's burger did not. The waitress said she forgot to enter it into the computer and then asked, "Do you still want it?" Why wouldn't she? The burger took forever to come out and I had finished my burger long before hers came out. The waitress didn't even offer to take the burger off the receipt until we asked her about it! Burgers tasted fine, but nothing to write home about. Will go elsewhere next Sunday...

We liked the bar here. The food options are good. The service was ok. The seating system is nice. Overall a nice place.

This place was jumping for a Wed evening. We had tacos and steak salad. The service couldn’t have been better. We ate there after the matinee. It was a bit noisy, but hey, it’s NYC.

We stopped here for a late dinner after a play on a Friday night. We were seated right away, and were thankful that our server was good and addressed our concern of a wobbly table right away. We each enjoyed an adult beverage. I had the trio of sliders and hubby had a short rib grilled cheese. Both came with fries and both were very good. We liked this restaurant because the tables had more room between them than most places in the city and it was a warm, comfortable atmosphere. We liked it!

We stopped in for bruch before a matinee. I had good burger and swapped out the fries for their sweet potato chipotle and short rib hash, which was awesome -- if they had an entree size, I could eat that as an entree. One companion enjoyed her thick cut french toast french toast, while the other had the yogurt and berries along with the bruleed grapefruit. She was a real fan of the grapefruit. The menu wasn't huge but the variety was. The place is clean and very comfortable and perfectly located for the theater crowd. I topped my meal off with a sangria which was just right for brunch.

Stopped in for a drink before a show. We sat at the bar and had chowder along with drinks. Chowder was good. Not really thick and had a lot of clams. The drinks were good as well. Bartender was very friendly and provided good service. Only downside is I thought the drink prices were high for that area of the city. Otherwise a nice spot to stop and watch a game or grab a drink. We stopped in at about 4pm and It got packed about 30 minutes after.

We came here for brunch before attending a broadway matinee and we were very glad we did. The place has a nice atmosphere, the brunch menu is interesting and the food was delicious. The presentation of the food was excellent as well and the wait staff was very friendly. The mushroom toast was delicious as was the pastrami hash. Everything else look good as well and all five people in our party enjoyed their food. I will definitely come back to this place for brunch again!

My husband and I scouted out several restaurants in the theater district before coming upon this one. We were seated immediately, the service was very good, as was the food. The glass of prosecco (Stellina) was a little pricey at $11, but it is the City. I liked it so much I recommended it to my son and his better half, who are visiting from Austin for Xmas. Enjoy!

Great staff, good people watching. We had the flat bread and sliders pretty tasty. All of the customers seemed to be having a good time.

We stayed across the street at the Hilton and the restaurant / bar attached to the hotel was closed. We arrived in town around 9:00 and wanted a bite to eat and a couple of drinks. We walked across to the West End Bar and were seated right away. There were 5 of us and they put together a couple of tables. The bar is full service with a good menu of beers. I ordered a beer and the soft tacos. They came three to a plate and were very good. The menu is extensive. We had several drinks and enjoyed the place. This became our go to place for drinks and snacks. Convenient location on the corner. The place is clean and the server was friendly and attentive.

This is one of my favorite midtown, after work spots - great food and specialty cocktails, and the servers are always awesome. There was an issue with an unruly patron while we were there and the manager and server handled it with class. Well done all around.

Went there before seeing The Book of Mormon. Had carafe of sangria, which was very good, a very light tasting wine. Had shrimp tacos, which were also good. Enjoyed it and did not feel weighted down during Broadway show.

I can't say enough positive things about West End. They were just down the street from our hotel and they kept us fed and watered the entire time we were trapped in The Big Apple last January. Due to the blizzard, Jonas, many places were shut down and the only place nearby that was open was this great pub. We literally came by every night because we liked it so much! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful even though we were obviously tourists from out of town, there was no snobbishness evident at all. We had delicious cocktails, good meals and ate every dessert on the menu, all of them were amazing!

Had a nice lunch there today. I had clam chowder with an awesome and unusual grilled cheese sandwich made with Brie, smoked bacon and apples. Wife had salmon and avocado sliders. Good service from our waiter and prices were reasonable.

I ordered some French fries with three dippings and a Mango Jalapenõ Margharita. It was great, one of the dippings was aioli with parmasean👌 and the margharita was one of the best margharitas ever!

Stopped in for a late lunch, ended up having to take our food to go. Service is a bit slow and it was exceptionally quiet in there. Food came out quickly to go. One of the best burgers I've had in a long time.

I had tickets for a play and wanted a nice brunch or lunch place nearby that is not a tourist trap. My choice was the West End Bar and Grill and it was a great choice. We had brunch from a very attractive menu. We both got omelets with delicious potato and carrot hash, and followed up with a shared plate of pumpkin pancakes, which were awesome! I had a champagne and elderflower liqueur cocktail that was perfect with my omelet. Service was casual, friendly and competent. The restaurant was quiet until about 12:45 and soon after was completely full, but we were not rushed to leave at all. We made a reservation to be sure of a seat, and I would advise that for diners arriving after 12:30. Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday until 3 as of this writing, so it works perfectly for theater goers with a 2 PM or 3 PM curtain time. This was our first time here, but we would definitely go again.

My son and I were visiting Manhattan and he found this place around the corner from our hotel. We grabbed dinner there and found a gem. It is a small restaurant neatly fitting on the corner of 8th Avenue and 49th Street. We ate at the bar and appreciated the service from the bar staff. The best reason for this review is the food. I had an interesting fried zucchini sandwich and loved it. Josh had a salad with a cut of flank steak and said it was his best meal on the trip. Of course we enjoyed a couple of beers and glasses of wine to compliment our great dinners. We highly recommend a stop at West End for a meal and/or drink. We will be back.

We were a party of 4 adults, a child and a baby. We all enjoyed our meals including one vegetarian. I also stopped in for a drink one afternoon at the bar and another afternoon 2 of us stopped in for a drink. Bartender, wait staff and hostess were friendly and made us feel welcomed. It was convenient to our hotel and to Broadway theaters

Concierge at our hotel recommended West End for lunch when we got to town and were looking for some place convenient to get decent food, beer and watch basketball. I was really happy with the recommendation. Food was actually really good, atmosphere was cool, service was good and it was really reasonably priced. So if you are just looking for relaxed atmosphere with quality food/drink/service then I would definitely recommend.

1st time and NYC. Who knows where to eat. So many choices. We walked by here several times and finally stopped for dinner. Great food. Everything came out so hot and fast. Service was great also.

Cool bar with friendly and welcoming staff !!! Great selection of beers and cocktails. We had a brilliant night !! Soooo good we went on to have a brilliant day as well !! Great food menu also !!

Foof was delicious: lobster club, omelette and pastrami hash which was nice twist on hash browns. Excellent service which was quick without being rushed and a very accommodating staff

The food was so good here! We got the grilled cheese and even went back another day to get it again, it was that good. We also had the sliders which were super yummy. A few of us even said the clam chowder was the best we had ever had. Only downfall was the cicken rollup, it was nothing special and kind of dry. Definitely would stop here again!

The atmosphere is really neat, a cute bar and moderate sitting available. We ordered the chicken parmigiana sliders and beef rib grilled cheese. The sliders were good but a bit dry and needed more marinara to dip in. The grilled cheese was supposed to have carmelized onions and they were close to raw. Also a little dry and could have used a horseradish aoili or au jus sauce. I would probably choose somewhere else to go in the future but it was good for a last minute place.

This great bar is a stones throw from out hotel, so glad we found it. Such a great vibe we went back again and stayed for our evening meal. On our first visit Ashleigh greeted us at the door where we waited to be seated, a wonderfully bubbly, friendly and attentive host. We had a great experience. Reasonably priced with a good range of drinks. I would have preferred a more varied vegetarian option, however I had hummus and olives with pitta which was fresh and well presented. Great sweet potato fries also. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the vicinity. Say hello to Ashleigh 😁

had drinks a few times, lunch and even dinner there over the past years. Always a good meal drink or whatever.

We had dinner here after our arrival in NYC. It was close to our hotel and was a convenient place to dine. Our food (burger and tuna tartar) were both excellent.

Arrived very hot and tired with minor in tow (age 13). We were seated quickly and cold water was provided (this was very welcome on such a hot day) one round of drinks (3 Corona and one coke) and two bowls of fries ordered (approx $48, pretty std NY prices). The decor was dark wood yet the bar felt airy and I think there was a raised area further down the bar area. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We truly intended to make at least a second visit but we simply ran out of time!

This pub has a clean, warm, inviting interior, which feels airy and spacious in the warm weather, because they can open their large front and side windows. The servers are friendly and the cocktail menu offers a terrific variety of wines, beers, and mixed drinks. We enjoyed it so much for cocktails after seeing a show, that we returned for brunch, which was very good. The egg sliders were tasty and satisfying, and the smoked salmon eggs Benedict were delicious, (if a little too cold). Our only small complaint was that our order took a long time, despite the fact that the restaurant wasn't crowded at that time. Regardless, it will definitely be a place to which we return whenever we're in the area!

We rushed tickets to a show, walked to brunch at Wed End Bar & Grill and were easily back to the theater for the matinee. Accommodating, friendly staff. Great bloody marys. Clean. Low lit pub atmosphere. are great!

West end grill has become a to go place for my friends and I. We thought we had made resevations but did it for a different date the host graciously welcomed us and ask us to wait for a few minutes while she prepared a table. Bar was full so we thought we would not get a table but fortunate enough the host accommodate us and sat us in less than then 15minutes. We were plesantly shocked how amazing the food was since it was our first time visiting west end. Food was amazing and overall delicious!! Thanks again for accommodating us!!!

We stopped in here after seeing a Broadway show to have a drink and some snacks. The menu had twists on traditional bar fare, and it was fine but nothing special. Nothing wrong with it either! It was what we were looking for after a long day of sightseeing -- a place to chill and have a drink and eat a little bit. Not a place I'd seek out, but worked well for us in the moment.

Food was really good! Variety to choose from and everything was great. Great service too. Salmon slicers and cole slaw was amazing.

had 2 nights in here. quirte expensive ... but so is just baout everywhere. $34 for abottle of basic prosecco .. did the trick with some hot wings. second night was just for some drinks. reasonable atmosphere, but like most bars ruined by chrging 8 a bottle of beer, then tax and tips on top of that ... for nothing better than a seat and a beer or glass of wine.

Great Pub with excellent food after a show. Looking for another spot and so glad we stumbled upon this place. Maybe my favorite meal from all in NYC?

Managed to finish up in town business at a reasonable hour and looked forward to a nice dinner for myself. I thought this place would deliver — in a word, it didn’t. The menu from outside looked somewhat promising and the vibe was pub and old wood, so I thought I’d give it a go. Was able to be seated right away. The waitress came over and offered me a water and a menu. I ended up ordering a lobster bisque and the hangar steak entree. I was disappointed with the meal and left rather surprised. I will elaborate below. LOBSTER Bisque arrived and looked oily and separated in the bowl. It had a very strong fish stock odor, but as I ate it, I found not one discernible hint, whisper, flavor, tease of lobster meat. Normally one finds some of the namesake in the contents of the item delivered. Unless they purée the lobster into liquid, I am stumped. For ten dollars a bowl, I expect better. The hangar steak arrived with a side of green beans and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were gritty and bland with a couple of cold spots. They had the flavor and texture of instant potatoes. I left about 2/3 of them unfinished on the plate. The green beans were not seasoned in any noticeable way and were limp from being over cooked. I left more than half of them on the plate too. The steak itself was the best part of the meal. I ordered it medium rare — came as requested. It had a nice spice rub on it that was well balanced. Not once was I asked how the meal was. For forty nine dollars including tax and tip — I could’ve done better elsewhere. I don’t think I will be coming back to this establishment.

After a long day sightseeing we came across this place on the way back to our hotel. It looked lovely from outside so we rang up and booked a table for later that evening. Service was great and the food and drinks were also to good standard. The sweet chilli wings were some of the best I’ve ever had. Great atmosphere. Will be returning at some point over the next 5 days even if it’s just for a few drinks.

We had a terrific dinner with good service and excellent dinner salads. The location at 8th Ave. makes it a good choice before dinner or a casual quiet dinner. It is not a large restaurant so it's rather cozy.

Had a good time at the West End Bar & Grill , good atmosphere interesting people to talk to . happy hour drinks good value , food was very good and decent portions . Well worth a visit

We selected this restaurant for dinner because it was affordable and convenient to the Broadway play we were attending. Typical bar food but also some good sounding entrees and specials. Key was going during Happy Hour when we could get a glass of wine for $6. Need to ask for that promoted. Food came in about 10 minutes. The braised short ribs were great, large potion of meat with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Saw previous comments on service and we found it to be fine and everyone we encountered was very polite. Prices reasnable. Downside was it was very loud with recorded music. There is a back room with tables which we should have requested. This is not a place for a quiet romantic evening, but was pefect for our purposes.

We came here this week on a quick trip to New York. We both had a delicious lunch and I particularly remember their French Fries. Their hot chips had been cut leaving the skin on. I really liked this touch because I felt confident that they had not been chopped up in some factory, frozen and then delivered by truck. I would love to come back here again - the service was good too!

We visited this bar on Sunday 12th March. We only popped in for a drink after walking around NYC and ended up staying and having lunch and dinner and drinking all afternoon. The food was lovely and the bar staff were very friendly and looked after us. Kyle was fantastic, good conversation, good music and is a credit to the bar. we will definitely go back when next in NYC. Steph & Ross.

Rather limited menu with a list of starters that was notable for how uninspired it was. For the main course however they had fish tacos which were very well prepared, tasty and filling. The bar was very noisy when we went, but this was due mainly to one group by the door. Good place but not great.

We stopped at this Bar & Grill on our way to the Theatre. The service was great! The staff is very friendly! The food and drinks were good! Our waitress asked us if we were going to the theatre. She made sure our food was out fast! I would definitely go back.

We went in here for drinks on a night out and stayed for a while. Good atmosphere and good service. Worth stopping by.

The drinks were very good. The friendly bar servers can make a great margarita. We were disappointed that the food was average . The lamb sliders were three small size meatballs surrounded by a fluff of bread. One of the sliders on the plate was not even lamb but beef. The vegetable quesadilla was filled with cheese, lacking in vegetables. Fine cuisine it isn’t, but for a drink and snack before or after a show, it suits its purpose.

High quality ingredients, hand cut fries. Wine was newly opened and excellent. Bathrooms were clean. Service was friendly. 12 beers on tap and a wall of liquor. Didn’t feel rushed while I finished my wine after eating.
Great food, great bar, great service!
Went to New York for just 5 days and had to visit this place twice because the food was so delicious. The first time I had the burger, the second time the short rib of beef. Both were absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly, welcoming and chatty and the prices were reasonable too. Would definitely visit again if/when I return to New York.
