Great Evening Out

By AMFletch |

First night we tried to go was a failure due to the NYC blackout! Certainly nothing they could have done about that! I am glad we tried again the following night, because it was a great experience from the decent beer to a nice glass of Malbec to good steak and friendly and helpful staff. I went with my 16yr old son and we shared a Porterhouse steak, delicious! I would definitely recommend this place if you want to get away from the chain restaurants, and some of the crowds; whilst not paying over the odds for a decent meal.

Average restaurant

By GP |

The steaks were very good, but also very expensive! The side dishes were also very expensive. We are not used to pay for side dishes (in Holland you never do). The staff was friendly and the location was very good for us.

Early New Years Dinner

By kathyd_March2017 |

Great ambience, the steak was exquisite and cooked perfectly as ordered. The sides complemented the steak and the service was 5 star.

Hidden Gen

By James L |

This place is a gem! I didn’t want the expensive price, like Keens and Johnnie’s, but still a good quality steak. I was able find Westside Steakhouse on trip adviser. Good quality steaks with out breaking the bank. I ordered a NY steak medium, it was cooked perfectly and I added crumble blue cheese for perfection. The mushroom risotto was moist and delicious. My son said that there Mac n Cheese wasone of the best he has eaten. The ambiance is great and the staff was very nice and helpful. Definitely would recommend this restaurant

Nice

By Elisabeth P |

..... and cozy place with good food and nice servants. Price is okay and the menu was fine. Very close to hotel YOTEL

Nice, not great

By rbrech |

Charming space in this quiet steakhouse on 10th Avenue, Hells Kitchen. Service was very good as were the martinis. The prices were reasonable, but the food was merely good, not great. We had ribeye and the lamb chops. Rib eye was nicely marbled and cooked as ordered. Medium rare lamb chops were overcooked and not very tasty. Grilled asparagus was simple and good.

Nice atmosphere and good food.

By fmb85 |

Lovely dinner, we both had steak which was beautifully cooked and shared sides of chips and garlic mushrooms (beware portions are big so sharing was necessary!). Staff were attentive and there was a nice atmosphere.

great food

By anorth52 |

Friendly, efficient service and an excellent steak. Quiet if you avoid the pre-theatre rush. Good wines by the glass.

Small, quiet steakhouse

By baywaves |

We came for an early dinner after having seen a matinee on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant wasn't too busy when we arrived but was full by the time we left. Service was very good with one minor exception. One of the busboys was a little too anxious to remove our plates while we were still enjoying our meals. He also removed the bread and butter as the meal was served. The steaks were good - not great but tasty. The filet mignon was very good but the accompanying shrimp scampi were soaked in garlic chunks. It was a but too much. Prices were average for a New York City steak house. We would return to this restaurant.

Very good food - informal og plesant atmosphere

By Erland888 |

One of the best and most tender steaks I ever had. Informal and nice atmosphere. The vine recimmened was a perfect match to the meal.

A 10 out of 10 experience and a must visit.

By DayTrip57426795745 |

The perfect New York style steakhouse. Warmly decorated, service more than A+, steaks wonderful and excellently prepared. Sinatra, Martin, Bing, et al playing at perfect volume adding to the experience. This is the real deal and it sits so quaintly in delightful Hell’s Kitchen. The proprietor is Nick. Sit, relax, feast, and enjoy his conversation. I am picky about steakhouses but Westside gives every reason to dine in comfort and delight. I was only in NYC for 3 days and I came to Westside Steakhouse everyday. The steaks were seasoned perfectly ( I detest steaks seasoned so heavily that there’s no taste of the steaks), the mussels addictive, and the freshest vegetables I’ve ever paid for. A special shoutout to the bartender Alex who casually and politely adds his friendly stories of life in the city. Simply simply wonderful. 10 out of 10

A great dinner!

By Graham B |

We found this by accident and will be back! A great steak dinner, with friendly staff at a sensible price. Loved it!!

Perfect.

By Alessandra |

Everything great, starting from the service to the food. Excellent meat and side dishes, especially butter spinach. The only flaw is the tip already included and decided by them with a percentage of 18% , which on an account of $470 comes to do quite a bit. Prices related to what you eat.

Highly recommend this steakhouse in Hell's Kitchen

By Robert2014 |

We were walking around looking for a restaurant in Hell's Kitchen that had outside seating. We stumbled upon this place and were glad we did. The service was really good, and the food was delicious, all at a reasonable price. The NY strip was done perfectly (for $29), the burgers were large and tasty ($19), and the sautéed chicken breast was really good ($25). Also had a nice wine selection. Everyone was happy.

Steak glorious steak!!!!

By essjaygee |

Quite the most stunning meal we had in NYC - possibly the best steak I have ever had. Service was impeccable, with our waiter very patiently explaining the difference between a UK "medium rare" and an NYC one (we had been served a very rare burger elsewhere days earlier). I had the calamari to start - which would have made a main meal in itself. My partner had the moules and he too had a good portion. We had the porterhouse for two which came cooked to perfection as far as we were concerned. Steak cut chips and mushrooms accompanied beautifully. I found the wine pricy but it complemented the meat perfectly. The steak was melt-in-the-mouth juicy goodness, I'm salivating remembering it days later. Like most popular places in Manhattan we were quite packed in, which was the only negative, but to be fair you can't blame them and this added to the relaxed atmosphere. Not nearly as expensive as some steak houses in NYC, and long may that remain so.

Bad attitude, good food

By Jordan B |

Food was excellent, but the waiters weren’t very friendly. Which was a shame. Like I said, food was fantastic. Service not so much. Maybe he wasn’t happy with his 20% tip

Elegant, delicious & great vibes!

By Evangelia Vigo |

This is the ideal destination for a special occasion with your partner, offering an elegant setting filled with beautiful people and fantastic energy. The food is absolutely delicious, and the waiters enhance the experience with their respectful and humble demeanor.

The food was good.

By Kathryn R |

The food was good. Our waiter was very professional and courteous. Upon entering the hostess gave us that what do you want look. I know the look so I immediately said dinner for two please. She ushered us to our table without a word. That was a very unfriendly welcome. The atmosphere in the restaurant is dark and very dark black and gray was the color scheme with white table cloths. There was tea light style candles on the tables and the tables were way too close to each other. We ate, Enjoyed the food and left it was much to somber for a dinner out in New York City.

Great steak in Hells Kitchen area of New York

By Andrew P |

Great food in lovely local restaurant. The steak was superb and service was excellent all topped of with a decent bottle of wine!

Great steak

By lscCanfield_Ohio |

From the outside there is nothing special about this place. The inside is typical old style New York restaurants- small & older. But the food was excellent with good service. Would recommend to anyone looking for a delicious steak,!

Great find and great food!

By Trent M |

This place was recommended by someone and they said it was a little out of the way. Happen to be just around the corner from where we were staying so we made reservations before a show. Great experience! the waiter was wonderful and the food was wonderful. Make sure you are hungry as it is a lot of food! We had New York Strip, pork chops and hamburger. All dishes were delicious. Service was quick and we had plenty of time to get to the show.

Best steak

By Katie P |

Let me preface with I’m not a steak eater so I’m usually smothering my steak in A1... not this one. This steak melted in my mouth. I ordered the Petite filet mignon with shrimp scampi. It was seared perfectly. Cooked picture perfect. Garlic mashed potatoes and 3 cheese Mac and cheese were both super tasty. A before and after picture was definitely needed. So pleased with food and service.

Very good place

By seb_morand |

Very good experience with meet and mac & cheese very very good. Meet was really tender even for a thick piece. I recommend strongly.

Excellent Steak

By ratnoir |

Found this place on TripAdvisor and found it after a long walk but well worth the trek for us! No booking but fitted us in, great menu and very reasonably priced steaks which were excellent. Service great and staff lovely too! Highly recommended if you want a great steak and don’t want to be paying through the nose! A must visit.

Great Steakhouse For The Price

By Lisa S |

Visited this Steakhouse while in New York with my husband and sons. The steaks were fabulous and the service great. My husband, one son and myself had the 12 oz. filet and my other son had the 16 oz. bone in ribeye. Two of us had a baked potato as our side which was very small for $10. I was also not happy that I was charged for every refill of my soda. I would definitely visit this restaurant again just wouldn't order the baked potato and I would drink my soda slower.

Perfect meal in a perfect place.

By Arne N |

Proper NY steakhouse! Perfectly prepared meat, and the side of mac n’ cheese was the best ever! The atmosphere was just like it should be in a Hells Kitchen restsurant! Not fancy, but tons of charm and personality! The cheesecake is my son’s favourite from now om! (Mine too to be honest).

American steaks prepared with European class!

By ASM2012 |

A real steakhouse with a good ambiance. As Europeans, we can't face the 12oz steaks on offer, so they happily shared it into two perfectly done steaks. With sides of perfectly al dente asparagus and broccoli we really enjoyed the meal and had room to (share) a desert. Wine per glass was excellent.

excellent food

By ianharris |

this was our first time we have been to this steakhouse the food is excellent and so are the staff,i would recomend this steakhouse to anyone.

best steak I've ever had

By Phil W |

My fiance and I shared the Porterhouse for two and it was without doubt the best steak I have ever had. And i eat a lot of steak! Much more reasonably priced than many of the steakhouses in NYC but there is no compromise on quality. Highly recommended.

Evening meal

By Jussyiow |

We really enjoyed our meal at this restaurant, after reading reviews on trip advisor we booked ahead for a table. We all had something different from the menu and all was extremely satisfying and delicious. Found price to be around the same as what we would pay in the UK for the same meal. Staff friendly and through in a little humour to the experience def recommend.

Wow

By Karen201330 |

This place is amazing. The steak was cooked perfect. The staff were great, friendly and knowledgeable. Everything was so good. Prosecco was so nice. Price was great! Will definitely come back when I'm next here

Excellent

By Johnny B |

Didn’t see the reviews but saw it when passed by, defiantly worth booking as it gets busy, Food is fresh and beautifully cooked, including a large diverse selection of ales and beers. Staff are friendly and accommodating,Well worth the visit

Really good service and food

By mrswattsCardiff |

This is a lovely find. There is a good selection and the drinks are generous. I can highly recommend the scallops, calamari and crab cake starters. For the mains we enjoyed salmon (really good) and New York strip which came with amazing garlic mash. It was a tad pricey but I think equivalent to most good steak restaurants in New York.

Great Food

By chughes27 |

We ordered the Porterhouse for 2, the steak was cooked perfectly, the garlic mash was a great addition. The chocolate cake dessert was a great way to end the meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at this steakhouse, the atmosphere is perhaps a bit strange - do not expect the friendliest of service, but I would suggest going for the food as it was top quality.

Fabulous! Don't miss out on this Gem!

By lovefurryfriends |

LOVED! I visited NYC with 3 friends and one of them was craving a steak. REALLY craving a steak. Every restaurant we found was in the $100 and up range until I happened upon this one. We made the trek to the restaurant and it was ssoooo worth it. Cute little neighborhood restaurant, impeccable service and good prices for the food quality. I had the New York strip as did two of my friends. We all agreed in was fabulous. My other friend had the filet and also said it wonderful. The sides are shareable between 2 people. We had the garlic mashed potatoes. YUM. The bread melts in your mouth. I can't say enough, just go! You will not regret it!

Excellent New York Diner

By Mike |

Wanted to experience a proper American diner on our nyc visit and we were not disappointed. Great food and friendly service and was good to be away from more typical tourist locations. Woukd definitely recommend - especially the ribs 👌

Great steak!

By Stray Cat |

Nice decor and the place seems very relaxed. The service was good and i was very impressed with my awesome medium rare steak. Really good, one of the best i have ever had. The whole family enjoyed their food too. Nice, will be going back!

Wonderful pushing 80 Birthday!

By Lee E |

I can’t thank the staff (that word seems impersonal!) these people were patient, assisting, personable, and seemed genuinely invested in our having a memorable birthday dinner! We were the last to leave, but they treated us so respectfully! Oh!! Did I mention the food?! Lobster tail, pork chops, creamed spinach, and mashed potatoes. So exceptionally delicious! Extravagant for us, but worth everything!

Good meat but service to improve

By Giuseppe S |

Dinner with two friends: two hamburgers and one steak. Well done, good taste, tender meat. Price a bit over average. Only one disappointing thing: there were no people waiting, I do not understand why some waiters were in a hurry to take away our plate from the table.

Highly recommend

By elly28 |

My husband and I went for lunch here while visiting New York - we were given the perfect spot in the window and staff were so friendly and efficient, and the steak was amazing!! Decorated so lovely for Christmas too.

Authentic NY Steakhouse Experience without the $$$$

By Richard |

Fantastic food with a great atmosphere and very reasonable (for NY) price tag. Well worth the 15 min walk out from Times Square for a less tourist driven experience. Have been 3 times and it’s been great all 3.

Best steak for the Price. Locally owned.

By Kathy Y |

This restaurant was a diamond find. I had the filet and couldn’t finish because their portions are large for the price. I got to meet the owner and he is so humble. I highly recommend this place. It’s low key amazing.

Great food and amazing cocktails.

By Janmnielsen |

This is a great steak house off the hustle and bustle of Times Square area. The steaks are of good quality and cooked to perfection, and the sides are really good too. Also make sure you have a cocktail as well. I had an old fashioned, which was probably the best I ever tasted. You can’t go wrong here.

Nice Casual Steakhouse with Great Food

By Amy N |

We had great meals here (NYstrip, ribeye, lamb, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and calamari). Price is what is expected in NYC. We wanted steaks for a meal and was glad to find this one in a casual atmosphere. Service was friendly but not very attentive. We had to flag down our waiter a few times, but not too bothersome. The AC wasn't working or not turned on which made it a bit less enjoyable as it was a pretty warm day. Felt like it was 80 degrees in the restaurant. Still though the quality of the food was great and we all ranked this our best while in NYC.

Great food and lovely restaurant

By Anne B |

We went to NY for a few nights and on our first night we didn't know where to go to eat, spoiled for choice we came onto trip advisor and looked for a restaurant near to our hotel. We were not disappointed at all, we had a great meal, the steak and the pork chops were perfectly cooked and delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive and helped us to choose a bottle of wine based on what we like at home. We had a really lovely evening and would happily recommend.

Outstanding experience!

By Safari33178715225 |

Outstanding food in a small local restaurant. Voted #11 steakhouse in New York City by the New York Times - and well deserved. Friendly and highly efficient staff, incredibly good steaks and other dishes, excellent wine selection.

Great steakhouse in NYC

By Cecilia S |

Very tasty food. Tender meat with tasty mash and lovely creamed spinach. Nice and service minded waiter. Recommended

Great restaurant to go with family

By Priribeiro1 |

A delight, great service and wonderful food. Tasty meat. We ordered Ny Steak , fried potatoes , asparagus and broccoli .

Pleasant stop on the west side

By flyngsardman |

A pleasant surprise after we happened by chance during a walk on the west side. Cute environment, very New York and really good food. The kindness and helpfulness of the staff was a further surprise. Recommended!

Awesome experience

By skidigdug |

Excellent steak in a casual setting; easily one of the best steaks I’ve had. Prices were reasonable for the quality.

Great steak!

By Sian C |

We chose to have the Porterhouse steak, which was well worth the $99 - the fries, were in fact big chunky chips and were delicious. Our other sides, the mushrooms and the asparagus, were a little burned but to be honest they weren't really needed. Great local place, didn't seem to be full if tourists when we visited, which was nice. Wait staff were attentive and friendly, and the place was clean. I'd certainly go again!

Anniversary Celebration Dinner

By SheehanAgency |

The most welcoming element of this terrific Manhattan dining spot is it’s intimacy. Unlike many NYC restaurants that tend to try to fit as many tables as possible into a large space, this one, does so in a relatively small space but without sacrificing comfort. Service was of course very good, yet, the feeling that turnover was of high importance, was communicated in the “attentiveness”. Steaks(NY Strip in this case) were very well prepared and flavorful and the sides (grilled asparagus for one and sautéed mushrooms for the other) were cooked to perfection and equally enjoyable. Check out the true key lime pie for desert! As supporting cast both the before dinner drinks (Cosmo and Hendrick’s gin Martini) and wine selection were terrific. We’ll return for sure.

Awesome steakhouse

By Ryan |

Steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Sides such as mac and cheese and the deserts were brilliant too. Service was swift and attentive, so absolutely no complaints. As far as atmosphere goes, it was pretty chilled, so will suit a variety of occasions. Would 100% recommend!

Great neighborhood find.

By Be_Happy_Today |

Great local find! Henri was attentive and charming. Our ribeye was perfectly cooked and the sides were generous and tasty. Every steakhouse should be like this. Unpretentious and welcoming.

Perfect grilled meat

By Joost Bonhof |

Found this restaurant on good luck, we happened to be walking past it. Highly recommended. Friendly service, delicious grilled meat.

Epic food!

By Jane |

After reading the positive reviews on here before booking I booked this restaurant for our Christmas Day dinner. The Staff were incredibly attentive, and the food was unreal. The portion sizes are huge, I had the salmon and my partner had the ribeye and we were both so full when we were done. For the price, this restaurant was an absolute gem. The quality of the food and the portion sizes are unreal.

Good quality food and service in a pleasant environment.

By Roberts69 |

West Side Steakhouse has an intimate ambience and very good service. The menu has some very tempting choices, included some great steaks as you'd expect. I opted to start with the Shrimp Cocktail, which consisted of 3 meaty shrimp and a cocktail sauce. I then had the Grilled Lamb Chops (4 x 4oz chops) with a side of broccoli. The quality of the food was very good. It is a bit on the pricey side as it was US$30 just for the Lamb Chops and the broccoli was an extra $7.75, my Shrimp Cocktail was US$15. So US$57.44 for two courses (with just 1 side and no drink). It was worth a visit though despite the cost.

Quality Steaks, Perfectly Cooked

By MamaLuzNYC |

The West Side Steakhouse is an unpretentious neighborhood steakhouse with unremarkable decor. The service is helpful, and the menu is focused on meat It is the steaks that elevate it to excellence. I have eaten there several times over the past year, and the meat has been uniformly of the highest quality and perfectly cooked. Even the sandwiches from left-overs are sublime. The sides are uneven. The garlic mashed potatoes are quite good, but the home fries are overdone for my taste. They have a small but focused selection of wines that pair well with the meat. If you want a tasty steak, perfectly cooked to order in a quiet setting, this is your restaurant.

Toxic ambiance makes the food not taste right

By idan |

During our recent visit, we were seated directly in front of a TV airing Fox News. Hoping to maintain a neutral dining atmosphere, we politely requested a channel change but were informed that “the owner wants it always playing.” The continuous display of politically charged content detracted from our dining experience, making it challenging to enjoy our meal. We believe restaurants should cultivate an environment where all guests feel comfortable, steering clear of divisive media. While we value the aspects that previously drew us to Westside Steakhouse, the insistence on broadcasting a specific news channel has made us reconsider future visits.

A certainty!

By tommyFi |

When we're in New York, we always go to the Westside. Great cocktail of scampi and fantastic steak. Cooked to the right pinto and tender. He never disappointed.

Great find in Hell's Kitchen!

By Yahoo_asg97 |

Really enjoyed our meal! The steak was great and the sides were generous. The service was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was cozy. It is so refreshing to find a great steakhouse that isn't a big chain. And to top it off, the prices can't be beat. Put each of those things together and that brought me to the "excellent" rating. I will definitely go again.

Great price for great steak

By Karen M |

Lovely end to a lovely holiday 5 of us for New York strip steak , and did not disappoint , really well priced in comparison to other steak houses , service was good delivered wrong order and corrected quickly, had to ask for sauce twice , it was delicious so worth the wait !

Nice evening for two

By Andrea |

Delicious all around, Friendly waiters Can only be recommended. Our rib eye steak was cooked to a perfect medium. The potatoes and the salad too.

Incredible experience

By Vanessa |

Best experience ever in a restaurant. The service was impeccable, the food incredible. Everyone was attentive to our every need. Our family had an enjoyable evening. Our expectations were exceeded.

Excellent

By Filippi A |

Very good steaks, pure pork chops, very kind waiters, shame the price is New York (however average)

Good but not excellent!

By Graham E |

Good steak restaurant. My wife had the calamari which was really good but totally enough for two. I had the bacon which was tasty though very salty. I had the ribeye for main which was cooked very well (rare as requested) and well seasoned, mushroom as a side which was at least double the portion it needed to be. Felt really bad leaving 40% of the steak and 69% of the mushrooms but was pretty full. Wife had the Caesar salad with a side of Mac and cheese. Both really good though the anchovies were not fresh but from a can. Overall an OK atmosphere but not incredible. Service was good but again not amazing An overall enjoyable meal but $140 for two, I was not blown away.

Wow what a fantastic place,

By Ian Y |

Wow what a fantastic place, it was on my must do’s when coming to America and this was by far the best steak I have had. My wife likes steak to be cooked so she can’t taste blood and our waiter showed his knowledge when we put in our request. We had the porterhouse and it was fantastic, will be back for sure.

Good food, spoilt by the service.

By Adam O |

Brilliant food, couldn’t fault it one bit. Our server wasn’t much to go by, he seemed to of had enough of his job or didn’t want us to be there. Once we had eaten the food and asked for the check, we left a Suitable tip as I believe it should be on service and not cost! But we left just under 15% as we felt that was matched to the service. As before we could say another word he was back over, aggressively placing the check book back on the table and circling the ‘SUGGESTED’ tip amounts saying we can put the tips on our card if we didn’t have enough cash. We did have enough cash, just simply didn’t want to give the full amount for the service and certainly didn’t want to give anymore after the cheek of being spoke to like that. For me that put a negative tone on the rest of the night, so we won’t be back.

Excellent food & atmosphere at less than top prices

By Chuck B |

This was a great find. Steaks were excellent but reasonably priced. Atmosphere not stuffy, was casual and comfortable. Server Craig excellent was well. Strip steaks cooked perfectly, mashed potatoes & caesar great as well.

Steakhouse

By danuta a |

Duck and fish were really good. French onion soup hot and tasty. Fast and friendly service. Little pricy. Overall good experience. We would come back.

Way overrated. This IS NOT 4.5 stars!

By Shane F |

I am a longtime TripAdvisor user. Rarely do I get fooled about a restaurant. But they got me here. This was really mediocre at best. As soon as we got our Caesar salad I knew this was not going to be very good. The dressing was tasteless. Not sure how it could be so bad as most store bought dressings are better. The steaks are bland and the creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes were the same. I guess they figure most guests will be one time visitors. I always judge a restaurant when I leave and decide whether I would g back and this clearly makes the NEVER list

Among the best known ... the best!!

By Raffaele RC |

On vacation in New York, with the family we attended two other more well-known places (SteakHouse) but the West Side was definitely the best. Excellent meat (NewYork Steak) exceptional cooking and salmon, ordered by my wife and one of the daughters, fragrant and delicious. Impeccable Service and fine local and tastefully decorated. It was a pleasure to dine on the West Side that I highly recommend to other Italians. In my bad english ... on vacation in New York, my family and I visited two other well-known steakhouses, but West Side was definitely the best. The New York Steak was excellent, cooked exceptionally well, and the salmon, ordered by my wife and one of our daughters, was fragrant and delicious. Fantastic porterhouse steak and fries and absolutely wonderful wine. The staff was absolutely wonderful too and a nice atmosphere ❤️

Food ok - service unfriendly - manager arrogant 2/5

By M Yinix P |

We took a bit of guidance from Tripadvisor and booked a table online. As soon as we arrived at the restaurant, we had the feeling that we were simply not welcome. The manager looked us up and down and treated us in the same way. Considering that the place has a dress code and generally puts on a high-quality front, I have to criticize the paper tablecloth, the glasses and the different clothing of the staff. The food was OK - but for me, the steak was absolutely not a hit. The prices are OK for NY standards. The plate was literally ripped off the table after the last forkful and the bill came immediately. When it comes to tips, we are actually always quite open because we ourselves come from a family of restaurateurs. They didn't want any tips from us here and we wouldn't have given them anything for the first time in NY! I just hope that the good manager comes down from her high horse at some point...

Nice small steak house but very good!

By richardbL6837CD |

I was in town for work and staying down the street. This resturant is small but serves good flavorfull food. The staff was nice an quick. And by the way, the prices are fair. You will not pay $85 for a good steak! I do not think you can go wrong with thes place. Get there early as it fills up fast.

Fab fab fab steak

By Jodie P |

Amazing gem of a restaurant, we visited here as a family of 4 recently, I can honestly say it was one of the best steaks I have had! A small intimate restaurant, fantastic steak - we all had them cooked differently, they were perfect. The sides was amazing, the mushroom risotto was fab as were the homemade chips. The wine was pretty good too. Would recommend a visit

Amazing steakhouse

By Amr150 |

One of the best steakhouses around! We had the rib-eye and baby lamb chops, which were cooked to perfection. Staff was very attentive and hospitable.

Excellent!

By Safari33178715225 |

One of the best steak restaurants in the city. The food is outstanding. Great staff, good wine selection and nice ambience.

Best steak ever

By Lulu69 |

We pre booked this before our visit to New York as we had read the reviews and it didn’t disappoint, food was excellent, our steaks were cooked perfectly, the garlic mash was to die for , I highly recommend this place and was reasonably priced for New York City

Great food, bad service

By Chrisch |

The food is great, porterhouse steak is fabulous as well as the Mac&Cheese. The flipside was the bad service. Rude and unfriendly waiter. Tried to rush us during the order, brought wrong drinks - and the place wasnt even full. Go there because of the food but don’t expect nice people there.

Amazing burgers and sandwiches

By pascal g |

Very good restaurant with amazing Philadelphia sandwiches and Heart attack burgers. These last choice is difficult to finish due to the size and the quantity of French fries. Be careful withe the steak oignon tomatoes salad. It is a huge oignon slices and tomaties but nothing else. My mouth has been cleaned after that: no mouth ulcer anymore or other issue 😉.

Good food & Service

By rebel56 |

My son got the ribs, my wife the filet and I got the roasted duck & orange sauce. Everyone liked their meal. Being a person who has a smoke and consider myself a good rib & Bbq cook. I thought the ribs didn’t,t have much meat on them and when I tasted his ribs I thought they were lees than good. My roasted duck was average and I don't think mash potatoes is a good side. It should have had wild or some kind of rice with it but I noticed in NYC mash potatoes is used a lot as a side dish.

Great last evening in NY

By TangoFlawil |

I enjoyed a wonderful evening here with a prompt and friendly service. Any time again, thank you! Our youngsters (19&22) where excited with the medium-rare piece and we enjoyed a great blue Porterhouse.

Nice steak, pleasant restaurant

By Andy |

Visited here during our vacation from the uk (myself and 2 kids aged 12 and 15). We all had the new yours strip steak and shared 2 portions of fries, which was enough. The steaks were all cooked beautifully and were succulent. The only downside was we weren’t able to have a desert. There were only 5 options and the one the kids wanted was not available.

Great meat , perfectly cooked

By alixrap |

Looking for a steakhouse in the surroundings, we’ve got this place thanks to trip advisor. The meat was superb and also the cooking. Perfectly cooked outside and red inside as requested (medium-rare). I had also some broccoli and my husband the baked potatoe. Great service , price fair for NYC

Fantastic steak House

By Alana H |

We visited West Side steak House before our twilight boat trip. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The steaks were huge and the mac and cheese was delicious, and the home fries too. Steak was cooked perfectly and very tasty too. I had a lemony cocktail (something Collins) which was also very good. Would definitely recommend this place over the over priced steak houses near times square.

Fantastic evening

By max H |

very welcoming, really lovely experience throughout food was cooked to perfection asked for a recommendation on the wine and wasn’t disappointed overall a lovely little place would recommend highly

Great Steak. Poor Service. Awful Sides

By Othman |

The four of us ordered Medium-well New York strip steaks, which were great. Crab cakes were good. The sides were 3 cheese mac and cheese, mushroom risotto, home fries, and potato wedges. The risotto was by far the worst, I didn't find it tasty but it made my friend nauseous. The home fries were poorly presented and looked like a mess, and not the good kind. They were very oily and just tasted meh. And the "three" cheese m&c felt like it was just cream cheese with some sprinkled cheese on top. I actually prefer Kraft's homemade mac and cheese to this. The waiter looked uncomfortable, almost offended serving us. I don't know if he has a resting b face or he simply didn't like us just cuz we looked like Muslims (he was wearing a gay flag tie) and he just had that look. So if you want steak just go somewhere else.

Very friendly and delicious

Just stopped by quite hungry. Delicious steaks, sidedishes and also cocktails. On top very friendly service from A-Z! Clearly recommended! Thank you very much

Nice steaks

If you are hungry in midtown and want to eat some meat, this a good choice! Rib eye is really good, and for sure Apple pie for desert ☝️

Great restaurant for great food and service 🤩

By Michelle |

We were looking for a great Steak in NYC and this place came highly recommended on Tripadvisor so we took a punt. We were not disappointed!! The flavours and service were exactly what we were searching for. Would definitely recommend. A lot of locals in which speaks volumes. The owner acknowledged us as we left which was lovely. He was making up cocktails when it was busy when we arrived. Leasing from the top!!

Great quality and service at reasonable prices

By realmainiac |

We had friends meeting us in NYC for the weekend and they asked about going out for steak. My experience with the "top steak" destinations has been mixed and certainly pricey so I looked for an alternative. WSS was within walking distance from our hotel and a reservation was easy to get on Open Table. What impressed me right of the bat was the service; we were seated immediately and a wine list was presented for our perusal. We chose a Washington State Barbera-like red that was excellent(sorry the name escapes me). We split a caesar salad that had a nice garlicky dressing with just the right amount of anchovie flavor. There was little discussion when selecting the meat; the 45 ounce dry aged porterhouse, $79 for two, satisfied our love of the tenderloin and the strip served on the bone. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare as ordered. We did fight a bit about sharing the loin which was exceptionally tender and flavorful. Sides included a large baked potato, creamed spinach and sauteed mushrooms; all quite delicious. We were quite full but couldn't pass up the pecan pie and were very glad we did not! A fitting way to end an excellent meal. For the quality of the food and the service, I felt this was a bargin!

The place for a perfect stake!

By Cleve B |

We have looked for a “go to” steakhouse and this is it. We live in Brooklyn and this is worth the 40 min subway ride. The petite 8oz fillet with Shrimp Scampi is perfect. The baked potato is done just right, and the key lime pie is famous. And it’s priced reasonably...by NYC standards. A very nice place and a great find. It is very fairly rated. No hype here.

Good and according to description

By SeH215 |

We had a New York Strip steak and lamb chop and two sides. The food was fast and good. The service nice. However, there was not that extra thing that makes you wow.

Outstanding from start to finish

By JamesV1995 |

This for us was the best meal we had in New York. Excellent service and the food was cooked to perfection.

A rare bargain in Manhattan steak houses with superb aged steak

By nyvoice |

On the edge of Theater Row on West 42nd Street, this 43rd Street owner-operated smallish steak house offers wet-aged steak with real taste at affordable prices. The sides are excellent as are the desserts. Knowledgeable, attentive waiters. Everyone actually thanks you as you leave ! My advice: go there !! (Reservations suggested)

Steak great but service subpar

By jonfromcincinnati |

Steak was very good, especially in a city full of meh steakhouses. The service however was mediocre at best. Arrived when the restaurant was nearly empty and sat for 10 minutes without being greeted, as 3 servers chatted to each other. Service remained inattentive throughout the night. I was stunned that the waitstaff failed to understand that ignoring tables equates to less money in their pockets-- not only from missing out on sales that can increase their tips but also on repeat business.

Great small, but clasic steakhouse

By Kelton |

Great food. We had the large cut of the filet, and shared it with two side orders of scampi shrimp. Great bar, and nice break, small, comfy, romantic space. We will return.

Horrible experience

By NIA |

It was a horrible experience. The food was average, but the waiters/waitresses were rude and they were not friendly. Although there were few people in the restaurant, they showed us a table that was almost in the kitchen and they insist on not changing it. Not worth your money.

Enjoyable but wouldn’t rush back

By Cat B |

Nice neighbourhood steakhouse with pleasant service. However, I felt it was lacking that something special. I had salmon which was lovely but at $27 it did not include a side ($8 extra for a baked potato). My partner had a burger which looked really good. Overall enjoyable but wouldn’t rush back.

Not cheap, but well worth the money

By mrsmillward |

Between us we had the new york strip, the filet minion and the rib eye. All were cooked perfectly, medium rare as requested. Sides we enjoyed were chunky chips, creamed spinach and the peppercorn sauce was very good. Sides were expensive but big portions. Should have ordered less. Service was pleasant and helpful throughout. Overall, quite an expensive meal (approx €100 per person) with tips and taxes. But worth paying for a good quality, well cooked steak.

Beautiful steak

By Colin E |

Went for dinner with my boys. Restaurant is set within a nice location and easy to find, within walking distance of Times Square but away from the crowd. Had shrimp cocktail to start which was underwhelming, had filet mignon steak and chips for main which was fantastic and beautifully cooked. One of my children had grilled chicken and chips which was lovely as well. Meals were so Dillon we had no space for dessert! Would definitely recommend

Always a great visit

By JohnMTB1 |

West Side Steakhouse is set for outdoor and indoor dining, maintaining safe distances inside. I set a reservation, but it's not always needed if you are early enough. Staff sat us and brought water and delicious hot rolls. I like their menu, it's got a little of everything. Staff is always friendly and attentive. This visit, we had the calamari and a salad. The calamari was amazing, tasty and light, with a marinara sauce to accompany. I had the chicken over penne and my wife had a steak and potato. If you want solid service, in a nice atmosphere, with healthy portions at great for NYC prices, this is the place. Also, it's in a nice neighborhood, not near Times Square, etc...

Excellent Meal

By Harald M |

We had a wonderful evening with an excellent meal and courteous service. The West Side Steakhouse we can highly recommend.

Don't forget the tip!

By davidy896 |

A small, intimate and welcoming environment where the menu choice suits most palettes. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the food quality was good. If you are a first time visitor to the USA (New York) and eating here then don't forget the tip - usually 20% of the bill total! Which was pointed out to us by the waiter, which I thought was quite rude as I usually pay no more than 10%, and the service was no better than anywhere else I have eaten in the world. Just bear it in mind.

New York Strip on Point!

By Harald K |

Looking for New York Strip in authentic surroundings? Here you can find it! Not a fancy restaurant, but a typical American restaurant with a small bar and restaurant. Very friendly service. The steak was prepared “to the point”. Prices for NYC rather cheap. Be sure to try it!

Organized racketeering

By adellec18 |

I very rarely leave a review on the restaurants I frequent but here I am so disappointed... it was our last evening in New York. Restaurant with friendly decor and service, nothing more. We ate very well. Cooking times respected for meat. At the time of the addition it's the cold shower. We were charged an 18% tip! !!!! On 278 euros 50 euros service! In principle there is no problem leaving a generous tip, but being forced to do so is unacceptable. We had left almost the same amount and the waitress came to ask us for the difference. When I asked her why, she told us in an authoritative tone that it was the minimum observed for 4 people! We paid the difference so as not to have a fuss and no one said goodbye to us when leaving for an addition of more than 320 euros for 4. This is unacceptable. We don't recommend it, there are certainly nice restaurants where you eat very well and where nothing is imposed.

Good steak for a decent price

By Holger B |

Went all in and got the Porterhouse for two with Asparagus and Spinach as a side. Steak was perfectly cooked and plenty. Sides were also nice. Service was quick and friendly, there were only two other tables occupied though on this rainy Sunday afternoon. All in all quite good, not extraordinary. I just wonder how they accomplished to get their floor greasy ?

If you like Instant Mashed Potatoes

By Steven E |

My family was staying in the Hell’s Kitchen area and we were looking for a decent steakhouse to have a meal. We decided to give Westside Steakhouse a try. The first red flag was the old fashioned drink I ordered, very amateur, and then our food arrived. At first site the steak looked good (ordered cowgirl ribeye). It was cooked well but not seasoned. The garlic mashed potatoes that I ordered were instant potatoes. No amount of convincing would convince me otherwise. The pasta my wife ordered tasted like something out of a can. Unfortunately it was just a bad experience. We’d been in NY for a week and have eaten out every meal and had wonderful experiences but this one stood out. I don’t know if this restaurant is in financial trouble and has relegated to cheap ingredients but it was unfortunate. We left after taking one bite of each meal and went across the street to Claudio’s pizza. It was excellent!

What a charming, lovely restaurant with delicious steak!

By Pfohlcochise |

My friend, Katy--up from Knoxville, TN and needing to be at 41st and 10th at 9:30 on Friday evening, wanted to meet for dinner. I browsed online and found West Side Steakhouse. I had no idea how the place would be, but the menu looked nice. It was so charming. The maitre d was very nice. We were in a quiet table in the back. We both ordered steak and they were scrumptious. We elected to share mashed potatoes and broccoli--both of which were delicious. They served us warm rolls with yummy butter ahead of the meal. We had apple pie with vanilla ice cream at meal's end--the perfect ending to a surprisingly lovely meal and a charming Hell's Kitchen restaurant. I would go back here many times.

The food and the service was

By Kit |

The food and the service was great! The meat fell off the bone on the pork shank, and the New York strip was done to perfection. The only drawback was the space between tables, could have been sitting on someone’s lap but in NYC so what do you expect. Definitely worth it.

So good!

By Tyrone1210 |

We visited on 19th March, having booked last minute...The food was amazing and large portions! The scallops were definitely the highlight however the fillet steak and malbec were pretty close second. I'd requested something small to mark my partner's birthday when I booked through Open Table, however wasn't confident they could oblige at such short notice. However the staff were lovely and couldn't have been more helpful, and 2 waiters produced dessert, with a candle and a rendition of Happy Birthday. The food and staff were both so good, we returned the next night! Lovely relaxed atmosphere. I rarely write reviews here, but this place and the staff deserved a mention.

Glad we found this gem......

By Toni S |

Walked past this restaurant on the way back from shopping and decided to book a table for the last night spent in NYC. Wow, wow, wow is all I can say!! The waiter service (Michael) was attentive & informative but not too much. Suggested a gorgeous Gin cocktail which was delicious! The owner cam over and said hello - nothing was too much trouble and would most certainly resolve any issues should you have them. Top notch service & food is their priority. No starters were ordered however we had a Burger (huge!) Duck, Steak & lamb chops. Sides of spinach, broccoli, garlic mash & chips (wedges really!) Each and every dish was to die for - absolutely lush. Key lime pie & Pecan pie for dessert...... Would most certainly recommend this place to anyone looking for a special celebration meal or even normal dinner out, they cater for all! Definitely will be back!

Keep Going on past..

By mintycoke |

Just really poor. This is where trip advisor gets it wrong. So expensive for really average food. The steak itself was good but the side's and service was dreadful. The disconcerting part was I take to be the owner's son patrolling the place with the false smile and the money grab. Look elsewhere don't be fooled

Very good dinner

By Kevin S |

came for a celebratory dinner - very partial to the bacon wrapped scallops and the half roast duck - always very good-excellent. It is a great location for an intimate dinner, quiet ambiance, non-intrusive service.

Great service and food

By Diane R |

Very lovely, simple white tablecloth ambience. Our waiter was excellent. We all enjoyed our meals - filet mignon, strip steak and lamb chops were perfectly cooked. The sides were delicious. Really loved the garlic mashed potatoes and the broccoli and sautéed spinach. It was lively but quiet enough that we could hear each other and talk. We took our time and no one rushed us. The prices were very reasonable for steak in NYC. It’s a nice, lively neighbourhood. Highly recommend.

It was pretty good

By sunnyshine579 |

We had dinner here this past weekend. It was good, nothing out of this world. We both got the salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The service was good, altho not very friendly as seems to be the norm in NYC. We were happy enough with our experience.

Great food

By jtf40 |

Dined here on the evening of 3rd May 2022 on our 25th anniversary. The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble and we didn't feel rushed and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The meal was excellent, I had crab cakes and the rib eye steak and my wife had French onion soup and basil chicken breast over penne pasta we never made it to dessert menu as we were stuffed and if we return to New York we will would definitely dine here again.

Great meat, friendly service and nice environment

By etabeta01 |

We had dinner at West Side Steakhouse and were very pleased. The meat was really good, cooked exactly at the required temperature: a thick cut, lean, but at the same time tender and well cooked. Portions are hearty, as you would expect in an American steakhouse. We had a steak with blue cheese sauce and one with green pepper sauce: both very tasty and perfectly matched with meat. My daughter ordered the burger and was thrilled: tasty, juicy, served with crispy chips, a really well-made main course. The selection of beers is also good, including a Brooklyn craft beer that I found enjoyable. Desserts are not the strong point of the place, but overall the value for money is quite good, considering we are in New York. The place is clean, the environment is nice and cared for without being too formal. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout the evening. Ultimately, a positive experience that I recommend to those looking for a good steak in Manhattan!

Delicious steaks in a bistro-style atmosphere.

By Allan |

I'm surprised to read someone thought it had a "diner feel" - i thought it had much more of a french bisto feel (but hey, everyone has opinions). The bartender waited on us,and he was professional and helpful, made suggestions that made sense (sharing sides, for example). The food was all excellent; very tasty steaks, good salad, and good wine. The only critisism I might have is that both my wife and I had ribeyes. Mine was excellent and very tender; my wife's was as tasty but with quite a bit of gristle. But that happens. It's not cheap, but it's reasonable for a very good steak in NYC. We'd definitely go back.

Outstanding meal

By Pete H |

We came here for an anniversary meal purely on the reviews all I can say is that they were spot on. The food was outstanding I have eaten steaks in many places in USA including Texas this was one of the best. A place you might just walk bye because it is not huge - go in you will not be disappointed. My wife said I had to put in here it was 43rd anniversary.

perfect place

By patrick c |

We liked the place very much;we enjoyed the space (nice place) under a photo of the rat pack The service was perfect (smiling, attentive waitresses) the food was amazing (home made crab cakes Burger ribs and apple pie to share) the wine (californian chardonnay ) was absolutly perfect Teh perfect dinner...

Friends for $220 for 3 people have better restaurants with better ratio

By danys |

Let's start with the dirty toilets and then order a vegetable salad that was flooded with uneatable vinegar. The onion soup was completely clean. The hamburger was as tasteless as the risotto, which was rice boiled with yellow cheese. Service was under criticism. skip this place.

Excellent Steaks in a Neighborhood Atmosphere

By pdwarren |

Located in the West Side's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, this place seemed to be more of a local spot, not touristy at all. It's a small place, but comfortable table spacing. My wife had a NY strip steak (12 oz. boneless) and I had a 12 oz. filet mignon. We added both green peppercorn and bernaise sauces. As a side, we shared a large plate of creamed spinich. We were seated immediately thanks to making a reservation. The steaks were cooked to perfection - Medium (for a pink middle.) The beef flavor was excellent ... you could tell the meat was aged for a bit. The sauces were both good -- we preferred the bernaise. We've eaten at some of the more upscale/well-known NYC steakhouses (Smith & Wolensky's, Peter Lugar's, Gallaghers) and I would say this steakhouse is on a par with those places -- without the large dining rooms and heavy customer volume. Definitely recommend a visit to West Side Steakhouse!!

Good steak!

By Holidaysalways |

Quite a cute restaurant. Steaks were delicious and the side of chunky fries too. Left stuffed and really enjoyed it. Would recommend!

Pecan Pie

By Kahlia R |

My husband and I loved the food here, I had a steak with sides, and my husband got the pasta. Both amazing We also shared the pecan pie, we went back another night and got two serves of the pie takeaway, definitely the highlight for us.

Expensive, but' buono!!!

By Emanuel C |

I don't feel like writing, The restaurant is good, period I don't understand why I have to write 100 words, to define an opinion!! If I say rs good is good

Okay but nothing special

By Chris |

It’s a steak house. Still trying to figure out why you would go there other than reviews. It’s absolutely nothing special. If you’re in the area and want a good meal, this is the place. If you’re in NYC and looking for an experience this definitely is not. That being said the wait staff was professional and the food was good. The place on the whole was underwhelming.

Heard of a Little Thing Called a "Pandemic"?

By James W |

We have visited this restaurant a few times, and since they are in the neighborhood, we want to support local businesses. Unlike every other New York City restaurant we have visited in the last several months, none of the staff wore a mask. When the waitress came to us at an unsafe social distance, I asked her to wear a mask or keep social distance. She rudely stated, that she would not serve us. That's up to them, so we left. By the way, we had a fantastic dinner at Marseille Restaurant on 44th St. and 9th Ave. The food was delicious (you must try the duck paté!), and the best part was it was served by fully masked and polite people! So unless you like your steak medium-rare with a side of Omicron, I'd suggest visiting one of the bounty of fantastic restaurants instead of West Side Steakhouse!

Delicious Steak, Warm Reception

By AudreyC74 |

We ate here during a recent trip to New York and cannot say enough to recommend. The staff were lovely and friendly and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. But the steak was just amazing..... We were stuffed after it too. It was reasonably priced and well worth the money.

Hidden gem in Hells Kitchen

By Kalle K |

Found this place by accident but happy that we did. Not the fanciest place, but very nice restaurant which is not too hectic and loud. Pork ribs are absolutely delicious and also grilled chicken with garlic mashed potaties was very tasty (also the chicken portion was very big). For dessert we had molten chocolate cake which was good but expectations were higher due to main courses.

What a nice find

By pb01US |

On a trip to NYC wanted a good steak dinner - found this place; great neighborhood feel, with superb steaks. We tried NY Strip which was perfect and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Highly recommend. Will be back.

Evening Meal / Family of 4

By bill p |

We visited this lovley restaurant after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and can say that we were not disappointed. We, a family of two adults, two teenagers, 17 and 15, shared two starters, calamari and livers, both very tasty and more than enough for 4 to share. We then had a T-bone, burger, sliders and pork chops, with sides of fries, garlic mash, asparagus and spinach, the portions were hearty and very flavoursome. A tip here, do not fill up on the tasty and tempting warm bread baskets, as our kids did. We had read that the restaurant was slightly on the high side, price wise, we didn't feel this at all, and thought for the food, and excellent service the cost was very far. Highly recommend evening meal.

Good quality steakhouse

By Matteo M |

Looking for a steakhouse near the hotel where we are staying we found this place, very nice frequented by Italians, excellent local service, polite staff

You need better steak 🥩

By Paul W |

US needs to sort a trade deal out for UK Hereford steak. The wine was great, the service was great, but serving up that sh** let the side down. I had the rib eye, it should melt in my mouth, it should be marbled with fat, but this tough as leather boots cut disappointed. Still looking for a place to eat in New York. With that said my girlfriend had the lamp chops and she absolutely loved it.

Brilliant hells kitchen steakhouse

By John M |

We chose this steakhouse following other reviews on TA. We arrived and seated promptly, service was attentive but not overbearing, food was hot and lots of choice and the taste was amazing. We had t bone and ribeye steaks, baby rack of ribs and sliders and loads of sides. Mac and cheese was a revelation!! A brilliant restaurant and well worth the treat, unpretentious and welcoming. A real gem. Well done and thanks.!

Great steak house in Hells Kitchen.

Cozy restaurant with awesome service in Hells Kitchen. One of the Best NY strip steaks we ever had. Cooked to perfection. Reasonably priced. Loved the wall of TV celebrity pictures! Enjoyed our evening and would come back.

I will be back…

By TheEri |

I had booked for a special occasion, the meat was excellent, the waiter who served us was very kind, we also found some good Veneto prosecco, quality and price absolutely within the norm. I'll be back.

We had steak and orange duck with mushroom risotto, it was delicious. Service was very nice and timely. This was our 3rd time coming here and we still getting impressed

Excellent Value for New York City

By Dorian B |

West Side Steakhouse is one of a lot of restaurants on 10-th Avenue. The ambiance is average but pleasant ,down to earth. The place was not full so we were seated at a window table -very cozy. The service is OK -we can say correct .The real value of the place is food and a wine list .We shared a Porterhouse for 2 that was excellent- cooked as we have asked (medium-rare)and on the level of much more "prized" and higher priced places.Asparagus and Hand Cut fries were also -very good and tasty. The wine list has a lot of fairly priced mostly American wines. We have found an excellent Zinfandel from Sonoma County and thoroughly enjoyed it.Cannot tell about appetizers and desserts because we have not tired them .For sure this is a place to come when wanting a good steak and not being ready to pay the prices of the other "upscale" NYC steakhouses

Beautiful Steak

By Kay E |

We wanted a good steak at a reasonable price and these guys didn’t disappoint. We prebooked the table. Everyone was so friendly and very helpful. I had the rib-eye steak which was cooked to perfection with garlic mash. My friend had lamb chops with fries - she said they were lovely and succulent too. I would definitely go back again

dissapointed

By Amy T |

visited this place with my husband for our trip to New York for our honeymoon. service was good and staff seemed very friendly however I had the rib eye steak which was 40 dollars, it was full of fat, I asked for medium rare and I got blue..I could barely cut through the meat due to the fat. I told the waiter and he took it back to the kitchen, he then returned with the same piece of stake just cooked that little bit longer. It was still blue and riddled with fat. i have a cooking background and was not impressed with this steak whatsoever i understand that there is fat in a rib eye but its suppose to be marbled to give a soft and succulent piece of meat when cut. this was a struggle to find a piece of lean meat in it. the fat was the type you couldn't even chew I had to discreetly spit it out. wont be recommending or returning to this place ever. the bill came to over 100 dollars and honestly wouldn't have paid half for it it was that dissapointing. service was ok and staff were friendly but unfortunately food was not good.

Excellent value in every way

By Michael |

One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Came in last minute on Valentines night and the staff were able to squeeze us in without problem. A well varied menu and a comprehensive wine list. Service was efficient and friendly and pricing a little lower than the Manhattan average, making this excellent value indeed. Leave room for pudding!

Worth a visit

By 01649409 |

From the outside the restaurant does not really look special and this is a pity because the risk of not going inside is high. The place is worth a visit if the plan is to have some nice meat. Fast service and nice, slightly retro atmosphere, make the place enjoyable and certainly worth a visit

Intimate excellent Steak House

By Rachel W |

Best steak I have tasted in ages cooked as I requested service was excellent, our waiter moved us to another table which we preferred. Initially it was booked but they did their best to make everything right. The restaurant is small and intimate the portions large. New York strip was biggest I have ever had. Side dishes big enough to share. Next night chatting to a local we were recommended this restaurant and we were pleased to tell them we enjoyed this restaurant the night before for all the reasons they gave. Great place in Hells Kitchen.

Great steak

By gill136 |

Food fantastic however it was very expensive especially with gratuity of $100 dollars added for a party of 5. Order sides of fries to share as portions generous

Average experience.

By Maria D |

We ordered porterhouse steak to share with sides. It was okay, but the steak had sinew in it and wasn't that tender. A bit disappointing compared to the price.

Great Value and Amazing Steak

By Texan-in-Solihull |

We searched quite a while, reading various reviews, before deciding on the West Side Steakhouse for a special meal. We absolutely loved it! The steaks (we both had rib eye) were cooked exactly as we ordered. They were juicy and melted in the mouth. We also had the side orders of mushrooms and asparagus, both of which were generous and tasty. The service was good, very attentive waiters.

Awful food

By Dalei L |

The service was ok. The staff was not unpleasant, but they were definitely not helpful. You don't feel welcome at all. The food was awful. The burger meat was dry and tasteless. The steak was rubbery as sole.

Food was delicious 😋

By Jax C |

My sister and I could not wait to visit this restaurant after reading the reviews. Food was delicious, restaurant was lovely and staff were friendly. My only negative to this was everything was great (service wise) until we paid the bill. We spent a good bit as I am sure most do. On leaving the restaurant we said thank you and goodbye (we were sure it was the manager sitting at the end of the bar) and we got nothing back from anyone. We weren’t asking for special treatment but when you spend just short of $300 you would expect a thank you or a goodbye! Sadly, this has put me off returning!

Good food, speedy service

By Frances S |

Good speedy service with the theatre crowd. A more mature crowd as the food is perhaps a bit more expensive but good quality.

Local Gem

By EastCoaster |

Great meal in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. We had our family dinner at West Side. Porterhouse, filet mignon, and ribs for the kids. Steaks were spot on, especially the porterhouse. I'm getting hungry again, just typing this, lol!

Very nice!

By mm__j__ww |

Yep, it's an excellent steakhouse. Caesar salad was a bit on the mild side, but still pretty good. Bernaise sauce was top notch. Medium steak turned out to be a bit on the rare side, but overall this place still rates five stars in my book.

Amazing food

Great steak & great service

By Beth P |

We ate here as a group of 4 on our last night in New York after an amazing 5 night break and I’m glad we found this gem on Trip Advisor! We hadn’t reserved a table and we’re lucky to get one of the last un-reserved ones in the place. Our waiter was super attentive, but without being overbearing, answered multiple menu questions and was generally very pleasant. The food was amazing, so tasty, served hot and plentiful. There’s not much more to say really, except go here!

AMAZING!!!

By Shannon K |

My dinner here was one of the best meals I have ever eaten in my life! We started with the pan seared bacon wrapped scallops, which were amazing and then for dinner I had the petite filet served with shrimp scampi and it was absolutely amazing!!!! We cannot wait to eat here again next time we are in town!

Steak was good but not great at small venue

By Tim F |

Went on a Sat night with a reservation and were seated right away. It’s a very small place, more of a diner feel vs a high end steakhouse. Ordered the porterhouse cooked medium with broccoli and mushroom risotto. The steak arrived medium rare at best - clearly a red center - to which the server said “that’s how we do medium” before taking it back. While it was cooked properly the second time around, the flavor was not memorable. I wouldn’t go back due to food and service experience.

Tasty steak at reasonable price (for steak)

By gulf-to-gulf |

We had an early dinner and the restaurant was not busy. The server was charismatic and attentive. My wife and I both had the filet with shrimp. Probably a bit too much butter for me with both the steak and the shrimp on the same plate, but it was tasty. The baked potato was good.

Good location; meh experience

By Alison B |

Great location in the theater district. Clean. Great service and tasty food. For me, it was just missing the ambiance Associated with the prices. The negatives: We sat down to a wobbly table and a dirty wine glass Felt rushed in and out

Great steak house.

Excellent rib eye steak in lovely, friendly surroundings. Well worth the walk down from Times Square/Broadway. Highly recommend.

Average

By GirlfromLewes |

We had prebooked a table but were put next to the toilets despite there being many other free tables. The food was nice enough but nothing special, the garlic mash was tasty but lumpy, the spinach was nice but over salted, the steak was well cooked but not hugely tasty and the peppercorn sauce was pretty bland. Service was rather brusque, check put on the table without being asked for and we were planning to order more drinks so we went somewhere else instead. Overall a bit disappointing because it could have been so much better.

Excellent

By Sandy T |

Great meal to celebrate special family occasion. New York strip steak was cooked to perfection. 5 of us, 4 had steak, none of us disappointed. Slightly pricey once you add your sides but can't take away from the quality of the food. Also had to house red, Merlot, great wine to accompany a great meal.
