Disappointment

By ChicaViceroy |

When I think of a high skill steakhouse I’m expecting a 6 to 8 oz steak and cook to perfection on whatever term you order. I love my steak medium rare and the one I got was more like medium well, bad idea and secondly the portion was huge. It took the whole plate and the thickness about 2 inches, not prime quality steak either specially when advertised as aged steak. Then i hear so much about the reputation and high quality of restaurants and chefs in New York that my disappointment was greater. Very expensive steak and felt I was charge more the size of the steak then the quality. I don’t mind the price but having a medium rare rib eye steak not melting in your mouth is horrible. Mikky the waiter, consistently in a rush and didn’t ask once if we liked our steak.

We left after a poor and unfriendly reception

By Ralph W |

We had high hopes for this place. But when my girefried and I arrived we were "greeted" by a unfriendly receptionist. We were being told that our table is not ready and we would have to wait. No indication on the time. No friendly word. Very rude. "Stay over there!" she told us and asked us to get out the way. We did not feel welcome at all. After a couple of minutes just staying there and feeling like unwelcomed guests we asked the receptionist to cancel our reservation and we left. We will not be coming back. Since the restaurant seems to be doing well by the numbers I do not expect them to change.

This time the service was down

By stefanl70 |

I like Wolfgangs in Tribeca a lot and had a great meal in spring. This time the service was unfortunatlly not the standard it was on other dates as I had it on different New York Wolfgangs. Nevertheless the steak, salad and the potatoes are very god. The wine list need some improvement, linke in most Wolfgangs: The variation on wine by the glass is very small! Location and ambient of the restaurant is very nice.

Tasty and fancy steakhouse in good location 분위기 좋고 위치 좋은 스테이크하우스

By Silver Wing 은빛날개 |

Rib eye steak and Sirloin steak were tasty. But too much portion for a couple. We couldn’t even think about beef steak for 2 months afterwards lol. Mashed potatoes and Caesar salad were added on the receipts separately. I thought they were side dishes. BV Cabernet Sauvignon was excellent. The server was nice too. We strolled on the streets of Tribeca and Hudson river park afterwards. The location of this restaurant is good to do that.

Birthday Celebration

By SunyEllie |

Celebrated my husband's birthday there this week and it was magnificent. As appetizers we got oysters and the Canadian bacon- wow . It was so delicious that we had to reorder :) For dinner we had the porterhouse for two medium rare . cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed very much the sliced beefsteak tomato and onions which came with blue cheese and a specialty sauce that was to die for. The German potatoes and creamed spinach were also excellent. When we go back we will order the same :) that's how good everything was. The service was excellent. We were seated initially on a table that I didn't like and they had no problem giving us another table. I totally recommend this place.

Porterhouse Power

By Leo C |

This is my second trip to this restaurant. The first was far better than the second. For whatever reason the Sunday night experience as a whole did not live up to its lofty reviews of the past. However, if it is a fabulous Porterhouse you are looking for you will have to go to Peter Lugers in Brooklyn to get an equally as good steak. The creamed spinach was outstanding! The service was another matter. The wine list is not very good for a restaurant of this caliber. The wine and champagne by the glass need much improvement.

The Best Steak on the island

By Assi A |

In Manhattan get FREE parking RIGHT AT the entrance - is a good start. The restaurant was fully booked and at some tables people were celebrating and still it wasn't noisy - good acoustics! The service is efficient and professional, the description of the dishes was precise. The steak was good and juicy! and the side dishes were successful too. Just mention that during all the meal I had "deja vu" from Peter Luger - in a good way.

Excellent but pricey

By Glyn B |

We ordered steak for 2 , fries and onion rings to share. The steak was amazing but we couldn't finish the fries & onion rings. The wine list is extensive and expensive ranging from around 40 dollars to 4,000 ! The service is ok, nothing special and it grates that the 'suggest' a tip of 18-20% when you're already paying through the nose.

Great Steakhouse - huge portions - pricey but worth it

By PJ_WestLondon |

Fantastic experience for a party of 5 - the teenagers loved the Porterhouse for 4 and actually managed to finish it. The ladies found it very blokish - I didn't notice until they pointed it out. Its not cheap BUT you expect it, and it worked fantastically as a venue for our last meal in NYC.... Top tip - listen to the waiter on portions, plus I think the wine is probably better value by the glass....

Once...and never again!

By Ray B |

To anticipate it why it got two and not one star..the meat was qualitatively very good..the service..catastrophic!!!!! We wanted to spend a nice evening and end it with a wonderful dinner. It started with the chairs coming down (holes and stains on the chairs!). After that we had bread with butter as an introduction. That was the first disappointment. Instead of the usual way of convincing people with warm, homemade bread in such places, cold, old (dried at the ends) and ridiculous pieces of bread came to the table. Not so bad, because we didn't come for the bread but for the steak, but what doesn't work at all is that the bread is just abruptly cleared without asking if we were finished at all. Then we ordered the steak (Filet Mignon) "Medium" and it came raw! After a complaint the waiter took the steak with him and put it in the pan again. After that it was "medium done", the one of my girlfriend was perfect (hence the 2nd one). But the taste was very good. Now the most annoying of all. Around us every 2 minutes a waiter ghostly and looked at our plates and give us a feeling to finish eating quickly. NOGO!!!! After the third time we asked him if we could finish eating in peace without him constantly looking at our plates. He just wanted to see if we need anything he gave us as an answer. That came everything else than so herpber, since before already 2 (other) waiters had inquired in this connection. Then the annoying waiter came back and simply poured this chlorinated tap water into our glasses although we had a water from the bottle (10$ die Flasche!) that shows me that there is NO agreement/communication between the waiters!!!! We were completely perplexed. When our, I say so, main waiter cleared the plates he asked if we wanted a dessert, which we denied. Then another waiter came to sweep the table and put 2 dessert cards on the table, whereupon the next (another) 20s later came with the bill and took the desert cards again. When we expressed our displeasure at the tip by simply giving 5% (I didn't want to give any!) the waiter who took the payment with him came back to count the money we had put in ourselves. Afterwards he pointed out to us with his finger that it is more normal 18-20%, as stated on the bill. He didn't want to know why or the reason for this, which is usual in a restaurant that regards itself as exclusive, but only to dust off his tip. A very very very disappointing evening that we had never expected. Absolutely NO recommendations from us!

Simple but perfect meat.

By Airchtit |

I wanted a T-bone steak and that's we got. To put it simply, I grew up in the country side of France and I always had excellent beef but never, ever have i had such excellent meat on my plate. Perfectly cooked, perfectly cut, juicy and tasty with an aundance of sides. We were full afterwards but that was well worth it. I saw some beautiful plates of seafood going out and they looked gorgeous just the same.

Great Steak

By Amellia11 |

We made a reservation for our anniversary night. Restaurant was more business than social. Our server was really lovely, polite and attentive. Steaks really beautiful.

Delicious meat

By Ejabundo |

My husband & I went there for my birthday. We knew it was going to be a bit expensive, but for the quality of meat that you get, it was worth it. We ordered the platter for 2 ($50 USD per person) and we got two different types of meat. It was very tender & cooked perfectly to our liking (medium). Although we found there was too much food for us to finish once we had sides as well. We did find our waiter a little abrupt, and didn't really spend time letting us know the specials. He was very quick to clear our plates, but slow to bring our drinks. Overall, a delicious meal

Fish was not very good

By Russell M |

I know ... I ordered fish at a steak house. But honestly, most really good steakhouses do a very good job with fish. But not my fish on the night I visited. Rubbery is the adjective that comes to mind. The sides were good though. Maybe I should have just stuck with them.

The steaks are worth their price

By Frank |

One of the best porterhouse steaks we have ever eaten - absolutely worth the price. The ambience is harmonious and the service is excellent.

There are no words to do it justice

By CardinalBaz |

This place was recommended to me so thought I'd try it out all I can say is wow wow wow! place was rammed when we arrived without booking so had a couple of drinks at the bar. We soon had a table and we're well looked after. We shared the porter house steak that was quite simply out of this world. So juicy and tasted great with a side of fries and mushrooms. I'm not one for getting dessert and nothing really shouted out but got talked into a new York cheesecake and so glad I was as it was so good I would've had a second portion if my belly had allowed. Great service, unbelievable food it was pricey but for what you get its well worth it!

Run of the mill

By ibisti |

We tried Wolfgangs on the recommendation of our hotels concierge. I found it to be ok but not fantastic. The staff were friendly and attentive, but there were only 3 tables occupied on the lunch time we went. I personally prefer a busy steak restaurant with a bit of a buzz but I guess lunchtime isn't the best time to go for that. My ribeye was a bit over done for my taste so it was dryer than I would have liked. The German potatoes were very tasty as was the Wolfgang steak sauce. I think I might have been a bit unlucky with my steak so I will give them the benefit of my doubt.

Quantity over quality

By tomtapper |

I recently visited with my family. It's quite a cavernous restaurant, but we got a friendly reception from their staff. I took the ribeye steak, which was huge! Unfortunately while tender, it lacked the flavour you would expect from a decent ribeye. The chips, mash and spinach it came with were decent, but again more quantity over quality.

Pricey and very good

By Andy Z |

This is a very good steak house. The ambiance and service were excellent. There are enough menu choices to please everyone and you may peruse it fairly quickly, unlike some restaurants where the menu takes 30 minutes to read. The wine list was extensive. We shared the rib eye for two. It was slightly overcooked for what we ordered but still very delicious. The sides are ample portions for 2-3 people. Everything is professionally served by an attentive staff. It's pricey but you'll have an excellent meal.

A really good steakhouse

By lara t |

I was a little skeptical about this given that it's clearly part of a mega empire but was very pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, service good and the interior was warm and comfy. Beware of the porterhouse size - they'll offer to split it between 2 people but it's enough for 4! The Canadian bacon appetizer is great (if you like bacon but who doesn't), the fries are great and the sautéed mushrooms are really tasty.

More of the Porterhouse Please

By Todayseveryday |

Like me, Tribeca is Ubs-trendy (that's a LOL as I'm like anti-trendy), and this place certainly reflects the trendy nature of the area! The restaurant is clean, modern and has a great atmosphere. The prices are about right for a good steakhouse also. The fact that there was clearly a load of locals in with wonderfully thick New York accents suggests it has the respect of the locals! Whilst the menu is pretty limited, they focus on what they do well - meat and lots of it! So much meat I'm sitting here with a beefy little meat-sweat on just thinking about the place. I was fortunate enough to have been recommended the Porterhouse - eating it is basically gives a meat orgasm in the mouth! It's so good! The sides are amaze too, and you get absolutely loads! The only thing I will say about this place is to be really clear on how you want your meat. They tend to cook on the rare side, and when I asked to have it cooked a bit more, the waiter got a bit stroppy - c'mon sunshine, that was a bit OTT ey!

Good Quality, Huge Portions, and Friendly Service

By BerkeleyJohn |

A friend around our age who lives part time in this area recommended this restaurant to us, with the caveat that there were a lot of "young people, under 30" who frequent this restaurant. On a Sunday early evening we decided to give it a try, and found that he was wrong. The restaurant was about half full of young people alright, but most of them were under 17, rather than just under 30. And almost all of them were using their smartphones throughout their meal, while ignoring Grandma. As amusing as this was to us, Grandma must have been thinking to herself - "why do I agree to these Sunday dinners?". We, however, enjoyed a comfortable table for two, against the wall, facing into the restaurant (thank you, Wolfgang's, for this setup which avoided having one of us face the wall). The tables down the center of the room were occupied by families of 6, 8 or 10. We were served two very large martinis ($37.90) to start, but my wife's "dirty" martini did not have sufficient olive juice for her, so the waiter brought a small carafe of olive juice so that she could add it to suit her taste, a nice touch. We asked to split a Caesar Salad ($12.95) to start, and were served with two humongous plates of a very good Caesar Salad, which we couldn't finish and made us realize that we undoubtedly ordered too much food for our main course. We split an enormous and very good rib eye ($53.95), cooked exactly to order, and equally heaping plates of steak fries ($9.95) and steamed asparagus ($13.95). We left a lot of food uneaten. This is clearly a restaurant for those with hearty appetites. We each had a glass of a satisfactory Pinot Noir ($25.90). The service was very good, and the waiters were particularly engaging. The tables were reasonably spaced out so we could converse comfortably in a three-quarters full restaurant. While this restaurant styles itself as a "steak house", they offer only 5 choices on the dinner menu under "steaks and chops" (and four seafood items - the rest is starters and sides). We recommend this restaurant to those who are in the area, particularly if you can have the ability to take home in a doggy bag what you cannot finish.

Great night

By Mel |

Went here with a group for a business dinner. The waiter suggested family style for all the food and it was great. We had seafood towers, salads, several steaks, side dishes and all kinds of desserts. Food was really good and the service was great. We had a couple magnums of wine and they discounted both bottles. Fun night!

Fantastic

By Pumpk |

Great atmosphere, great staff and fantastic food. Our advice would be to share the sides! We had the best steaks we've ever had and my husband said his oysters were the best he'd ever had. We went early evening early in the week, if you went later in the week best to book.

Amazing steak, as always!!

By Matt S |

This was our first time to Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Tribeca, but we have been to their other location in Times Square. Everything was exactly as I expected it to be, which was fantastic! The service is very quick, food comes out quick, we were in and out in about an hour. We ordered two giant slabs of bacon as appetizers. Then for the main course we got the porter house for two which is the only thing you should ever get at this restaurant and it's what they're famous for. We also got a side of creamed spinach with our steak. The food was amazing and the steak was cooked perfectly and was so buttery and delicious, it literally melts in your mouth! We have been to Peter Luger in Brooklyn before which is a nightmare to get reservations, you need them a couple months in advance. But we booked a reservation for Wolfgang's in Tribeca a couple days before we went and there was plenty of open tables. The fact that Wolfgang's has multiple locations in Manhattan makes it much easier to get a reservation. The menu, service, and quality of food is almost identical to Peter Luger so Wolfgang's in a great alternative if you can't get reservations at Peter Luger.

One of the best steaks I have ever eaten

By Nikko_Traveler |

I am a Texas boy who prides himself on Texas Steak Houses and my own grilling. I was somewhat biased when I went in and had to eat my own words. It's okay though because they tasted like an amazing steak. I ordered the Lobster Bisque and Filet (med rare). The steak was huge and cooked, seasoned and prepared perfectly. My wife agreed that it too was one of the best steaks she had ever eaten.

Arrogant waitstaff, So-so steak, high price

By Sharon-Bob |

Party of nine last week (June 27, 2017) rude bartender, wiatstaff unfriendly, messed up orders, food runners had to ask each diner what they ordered, Steak was a disappointment, a bit better than Outback. Have eaten at other Wolfgangs Steak houses and service, steak much better. Will not go again or recommend

Classic Steakhouse

By 853kathrynm |

My husband and I dined at Wolfgang's in Tribeca on a recent trip to New York. The space is interesting and the tables are well-spaced. The menu was somewhat limited, even by steakhouse standards. All of the steaks were about $50, and there was no petite fillet or other option for smaller appetites. The steak for two was very good, but the onion rings were a little weak. The only wines by the glass were generic house wines; the cabernet was good. We enjoyed our meal.

Good food not the service

By Alefranci68 |

Very good meat but once it came the check I gave them my card … they threw back the card in the table … saying it does not work …. Very badly I went to the cashier with another card didn’t work either three times . Very angry I paid cash I spoke with my two banks and both says they processed European cards wrongly, I had nothing wrong with my cards, very bad image in front of my clients . A restaurant like is not supposed to have a wrong system for credit cards in the most important financial center of the planet.

Disappointed

By Mike W |

Terrible experience. Hair in butter, no plates with starter, multiple servers that required to be called over so no idea who was ours. And the worst part of all was that the rib eye was at first over cooked (wanted medium rare and no pink in sight), sent back after asking the waiter what he thought and agreed, then brought back with extremely rare (blue). Love my steak and frequent good steak houses often (3rd time for wolf gangs) and astounded when steak is all they do and still can’t get it right. They did take my steak of the bill so credit to them for that from the manager, however before that our waiter (who I guess became ours after telling us initially he’d find our waiter) gave no apologies for the steak or the other stuff. Don’t usually review but pretty disappointed in what I though was a high end restaurant. Happy to pay for great service and food, this was not

Classy

By lotusdesigns |

Went to this fine dinning restaurant for a drink, it is very pricey for alcohol and food. It is very classy and a bit of a dress up place .

Gorgeous dinner !!

By gino23g10 |

Very elegant restaurant in the heart of tribeca...we had a delicious bacon with salad, a fantastic bone steak with mashed potatoes and mushrooms.. We finished with a mixed selection of different desserts, all accompanied with different wines... Definitely worthwhile !!!!

Great but $$$

By aidan h |

Wolf gangs is a very tasty meal with an extremely distinctive taste in a good way. It is a meal you will never forget with thick juicy bacon slices as appetizers. If you do go you are due to spend a couple hundred bucks. I need to say that it is worth every penny you spend. Now go bring your taste buds to heaven at Wolfgangs.

Nice place in the Traditional Way

By Howard K |

A White Tablecloth restaurant is so much better than a Fast casual. Wolfgangs is a throwback to the days people dined (rather than just ate). We went for the lunch special. I had the simple Chopped Steak ($19). It came with fresh creamed spinach and mash potatoes. Nice portions in a warm, time-gone-by atmosphere for only a few bucks more than Shake Shack. Started by a former head waiter of Peter Luger's. There are (i think) 8 restaurants around the world. Each elegant in its own design. Worth Checking out.

Surprisingly disappointing for the price

By DitaVonMartini |

Donning the Wolfgang name, I expected to be impressed. Hostess seated us in the bar even though the dining room had availability, it was packed with post work / happy hour crowd, way too loud. The waiter hovered waiting to take our order without having enough time to read the menu. I opened 5 packages of the Saltines served with the shrimp cocktail and they were all stale, the horseradish looked like it's the same ramekin that's been in and out of the kitchen for 2 weeks. Lamb chops were overly charred, served with no garnish on the plate or condiment. On the opposite side of the spectrum, the salmon fillet was under done even on the thinnest part of the fillet. Some if the sauteed mushrooms were also charred black, leaving a nasty after taste. The waiter was OK, timely and efficient but no smiles or friendliness to be had. My martini glass had caked on ketchup or BBQ sauce on the inside of the glass and needed to be sent back. $200 dinner for 2 was not worth the cost, I won't be going back.

Slipping slightly

By Guido Meatball |

Having come here many times I thought I would give management/ownership a heads up . Food and service is slipping slightly. Filet was over cooked and service EXTREMELY slow . This place is an institution and want it to stay that way .

Best Steak

By Lou v |

A carnivores delight!!! Porterhouse for 2 is Always perfect! Have had it about 5 times at 3 of his restaurants and it is always amazing. Best mashed potatoes ever!! Staff is great and the area is beautiful. Definitely one to come back to.

Where i have dinned for many years with my business partner

By Beth D |

The excellent consistently professional wait staff never disappoint and neither does the kitchen The dining room also is impressive and the wine selection has always matched the food. It's barely inconvenient to get there but so worth it. Porterhouse/ German potatoes / sauteed broccoli preceded by thick-cut bacon and caesar salad is what we like but most other offerings we have tried have been fantastic except for perhaps the lamb cutlets and that was a few years ago. Probably the only item that Sparks does better - otherwise no comparrison.

A Curious Mix -- Hard to Rate

By BethesdaTraveler |

Rarely do I visit a restaurant where the different elements of a dining experience are of such different quality: Food -- a) Salad was quite good, with an ample portion of greens shared between two plates each of which included 1/2 a tomato slice. b) Steaks (ribeye, based on the waiter's recommendation) were high quality meat, and were cooked to the proper degree (after one send-back), but were only slightly warm on the outside. If I didn't know better, I might have thought the steaks had been partially cooked some time earlier and finished or reheated just before serving. I don't think this is possible, so perhaps they simply sat for a little too long between cooking and serving. c) Sides -- steamed spinach was really excellent, fresh, not bitter, and not overcooked; french fried potatoes were OK, hot and only slightly too oily; mushrooms tasted old and tired. d) Dessert -- chocolate mousse cake was average, but whipped cream served with it was truly excellent. Service -- service also felt somewhat schizophrenic; sometimes our waiter was not only hard to find but quite disinterested even when present; at other times, he was very accommodating and helpful. Restaurant was only 1/3 full when we dined. Ambiance & Setting -- quite comfortable and uncrowded; much better than most in lower Manhattan. Prices & Value -- at a lower price point, I would be more forgiving of some of the other negatives, but in my opinion $125 per person for a simple dinner with 1 salad, 2 entrees, 3 sides, 1 coffee and 1 dessert (no alcohol), should produce a better overall experience.

Very Good but Very Expensive Steak

By Montana_Rustler |

We enjoyed our shared Porterhouse steak at Wolfgang's. The steak was grilled just right, but was so huge we couldn't eat it all (2 of us). Total bill: $204 with no alcohol. The service was OK but not spectacular like we expected. The side dishes (baked potato etc.) were also good, and huge. In the final analysis, I don't think the steak, although very good, was worth the price, but my son wanted the experience of dining there.

Total Disappointment

By Anthony H |

We were staying in Soho and selected this location for a great meal. Cost was no issue and we eat in great steak houses everywhere. We waited an unusually long for our waiter for everything, from water, to ordering. to getting our food,to getting our returned food,to waiting for the bill and the place was half empty . I was hoping to have a beautiful evening with my girlfriend and we got stuck with a waiter with no smile,no smalltalk who thought he was more important than his clients.I can tell you what happens to businesses with that business model. My girlfriend ordered her steak rare and when it finally came the centre was completely cold, as if it came from the fridge. It was sent back and took about 20 minutes to return which meant that we did not really eat together and the waiter was not even the least bit apologetic about the matter. We did not stay for desert and could not wait to leave.Paid the bill, left a good tip and will never go back.In this case one strike and youurr out !!!

Amazing

By Susanne C |

So much food that we couldn’t eat at all. Excellent food well cooked and funny and nice atmosphere. We will surely come back next time we’re in NY.

Great steaks but that's about it

By 246steveny |

Heard great things about the steaks so tried it out with the family. The steaks were good but I can't say it's the best we have had. The starters were way too simple; e.g. the Tomato and Onion salad was two think slices of tomato and one thick slice of white onion, and that's it - no dressing or sauce to go with it. The same with the Jumbo Lump Crab Meat Cocktail. Service was good though.

Best steak

By susan_bennett16 |

This is the 2nd time I have eaten at this restaurant and again was not disappointed. We had a reservation at 20.30, which I had made from the UK, due to the Tribeca film festival being held. The restaurant is in the meatpacking district with other restaurants in the area, all very busy. We were greeted by friendly staff at the desk and decided to have a drink at the bar. Reasonable price for a vodka & beer with quite a selection of drinks and wines. Our table for 2 was near the end of the restaurant, but ok. The staff were attentive, friendly and did not rush us in any way. It was quite loud this time, but there were a few big tables in and this is to be expected. Again, I had to have a steak, you cant go there and not have one, absolutely beautiful. The only down side is that I could not finish it, nothing wrong with the steak just me! The sides are quite big, so don't order to many. The cost was reasonable for a up market steakhouse. You can easily get a cab outside or walk a block or two of the weathers nice.

Vibrant!

By Suhaa Schmitz |

Started off very very loud and crowded but slowly ended up in a pleasant bearable dining room. We couldn’t speak in the first 40 mins of our dinner. Service was good and friendly. Menu just right with great options. Amazing wine list too.

Go hungry

By insomnia2016 |

Traditional NY steak house. Great service. Really strong wine list. Incredible steak (and lamb chops). Defeated by the ribeye size but it was so full of flavour. Would definitely recommend.

Enjoyable meal with good friends

By guitarpsych |

Had a bit of a reunion with 3 friends at Wolfgang’s. Seated promptly with reservation. Delicious salad with bacon and Belau cheese dressing. Proceeded to Porterhouse which was absolutely delicious along with creamed spinach and German potatoes. Don't miss apple strudel dessert. Memorable evening.

Terrible, with pretentious waiters

By eyemafox |

My Husband and I ate here on Memorial Day 2015 (at 8.30pm) He ordered the Filet Mignon which was completely charred on the outside and therefore didn't matter what it was like on the inside as you could only taste flakey pieces of carbon. I ordered the $53 Ribeye which was over cooked (i asked for it med-well) the pretentious Italian waiter was insulted when at the end of the meal he asked if we wanted to take our steaks home as we had hardly touched them and i when i told him "no" and why.. he said,"yes well i could have told you not to order the ribeye med-well" I proceeded to tell him that i travel all over the world and have certainly eaten in better steakhouses than Wolfgang's and I always eat ribeye steaks this way and have never had a problem. He tried to ply us with cheap desert wine and tiramisu which i refused couldn't wait to get out of there and Mario or Luigi or whatever your name was now you know why your tip sucked. My advice to anyone looking for a good steak in Tribeca is still Morton's by the old world trade enter site or American Cut in the neighborhood also. There at least the waiter won't snub you and tell you that you basically know nothing about the meal you are eating - what a jerk he was!!

Don’t Bother

By Max D |

Not sure why I bother but decided to pay them a visit at a very late 9ish hour so not terribly busy. I sat at the bar hungry because I haven’t eaten the entire day and just waiting and waiting for service. Meanwhile, the couple next to me were helped by not 1 but 5 servers. If I didn’t know better I would think he’s Mr. Wolfgang himself but I highly doubt it. Fifteen minutes have elapsed and the dumb bartender basically does not care. You know what? I don’t care either and the steaks have always been bland here anyway. The service here has never ever been friendly or prompt. Will not come back this lifetime or the next or any of the ones after.

Don’t Bother wasting your time

By Graham M |

What a waste. Crowded over priced Bartender was unbelievably rude. Food is sub par. Go to the old homestead or peter Lugers. Any other steak restaurant would be better than this place. Save your money for someplace with good food and decent service.

Great Steak

Good steaks and poor service

By Ditlev_dk |

Celebrating Christmas Eve with my family and were excited to visit one of New Yorks oldest and respected steak restaurants, but was met with a sloppy welcome and needed to ask twice for the winecard and after ordering the wine... And arrogant servants... All in all not a good experience 😟

Steak and Lambchops Amazing

By donroquefort |

Pricey, but well worth the $$$$ Service ,Staff and food beyond a ten. Not our first time at this restaurant. The porterhouse steak and lamb chops are exceptional. Oysters and shrimp cocktail, a must. They have a full bar and a great wine list. This one is a keeper

An excellent Porterhouse steak

An excellent Porterhouse Steak for 2 with fries! Would have been very suitable for 3 people as the portions are huge! Fine wine Creamed spinach too salty, however (already noted by another guest) Overall: I highly recommend.

Top steak house!!!

Simply TOP!!! We are steak lovers so we just had to go there... it was excellent. The steak was so good, I'm lost for words. The restaurant also offers excellent wines and the service is excellent!!! Our expectations were exceeded.

Great steaks at reasonable prices

Took my 2 of my fellow colleagues out for a nice steak dinner at Wolfgang's before a customer event that evening. Ordered the aged T-Bone Steak for 2 and the Tuna steak with some sides, the crab appetizer and lobster bisque. The food was excellent and portion sizes great!! The service wasn't so good but he made up for it by providing a complementary desert. If I could rate half stars, would have given a 4.5 but rounded it up since the food was great and reasonably priced ($350 for 3 people with 1 bottle of wine). They buy aged steak from the same place that Peter Lugers does. Another great thing is they take credit cards unlike Peter Lugers. ENJOY!!

Luger without the hassle

By Elitefreak |

So we had planned to clear a bucket list item by dining at Peter Luger, and who knew that they booked full so much in advance . . . After researching the other options, we chose Wolfgang's as they serve the steak Luger style (porterhouse shared and sliced). We also chose this location over the Park Ave one as the latter is said to be extremely noisy. This Tribeca location was perfect. Excellent attentive service. Thick bacon was luscious as were the clams on halfshell. Steak was superb with a charred, salty crust and warm juicy flavorful meat beneath. German potatoes were great. Creamed spinach was not as creamy as many offer, probably healthier but maybe not as decadent. Great choice if you want the Luger experience without the hassle (and, yes, Wolfgang's DOES accept credit cards unlike Luger).

"traditional" steakhouse - top of the line food

By Opher K |

Not new age or anything, but some of the best food we had. The porterhouse was one of the best pieces of meat I ever ate, and the wild salmon was also exceptional! Well worth it.

Great

One of the biggest steak I have ever eaten. Ribeye steak with potatoes chips but not so good take baked potatoes. The maid an Mary Pickford by request very good bartender.

Lunch on First NYC Visit

By Jamie H |

Overall, it was a solid experience. I would visit again, but I would not go out of my way to make it happen. The venue is nice and easy to access. I had the Lemon Caper Chicken, which was solid (not great). Service was good.

Great steak house who don't overcook the meat!

By martin mc |

We came here for a group meal. We had a mix of starters and then shared a cow for the main course. Perfectly cooked and the sides of mushrooms and potatoes were lovely. We had some Faust red wine. Overall a great meal.

Perfect Meal

By KDU-9999 |

We followed a recommendation of a Business Partner for a Dinner in Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Greenwich. Not only the surrounding area is nice and hip but also the atmosphere of the restaurant is top. From the beginning on we felt to be as in a big living room - the restaurant has a warm and friendly atmosphere. After a warm welcome we were escorted to our table. The service is helpful and well prepared to all questions concerning Food and Beverage. We choosed the New York Strip - Filet and Porterhouse for two - which was outstanding. Also the sides were perfect. All served at the point. I asked for a Vanila ice-cream without creme - which was not posted on the menu card - and it was no matter to get it. The prices especially for the meal are not low but in balance with the quality of the food and the standard of the location. Everytime again.

Pricy with reason

By Marko R |

I was in NY for the first time and I had to have a real steak! Well I had it. And it was big, juicy and really good. The sides: spinach, mushrooms and baked potatoes. The bread was a pleasant surprise as well.

Basic steahouse

By TYPICALTAURUS |

Very basic and extremely overpriced for what it was. However, it was jam packed and had great service.

Just average

By Herman G |

Have been to Wolfgang’s many times. This time the place was empty and the food just average. Service is always great. All sides like spinach, fries etc were just ok but not great. The tuna rare was cold and not edible. The filet was not tasty and the ribeye just ok. Expensive and disappointing. Hope this is not a trend from over expanding.

Superb experience

By StillorganSteve |

We had our Cgristmas dinner here last year and what an experience it was. A beautiful wood-panelled room, excellent service from waiters straight out of central casting. We really felt like we were on the set of The Sopranos or Goodfellas. The food was outstanding. We had a large group so we ordered three Porterhouse T-bones done rare, medium and well for everybody's taste along with their lamb chops which you would eat all day and various sides and starters. It was one of the most memorable meals I've ever had. Well worth splashing out for.

Great steakhouse!

By pmny |

Great steakhouse, with great service. Nice bar area separate from main dining room. Nice wine list. Private dining room available for special events.

RACIST, AVERAGE, BASIC STEAKHOUSE IN NYC

By iamsoph |

Im shocked that I would be writing this review but then again in this day and age Im also not. It started off small, the little signs of discrimination and then it got quite obvious towards the end of the night. My friends and I came here for New Years Eve dinner, we thought we'd have a nice fancy dinner to celebrate the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018. Boy was I wrong about "nice." The hostesses at the front door were not welcoming at all. My reservation was at 9pm for 6 people. We arrived earlier around 8:55 and was told ok just a few mcinutes by one of the most unfriendliest hostesses Ive ever seen. The poor girl had no smile whatsoever and looked like she was being tortured. We waited around the bar, 9:15 came and we still werent seated with no explanation. We basically didnt sit until 9:25 which is not "just a few minutes." If i wanted a 9:30 reservation I wouldve made it for 9:30 and not 9pm (again no apology for the wait was provided.) BTW we were not offered coat check unlike all the other guests were. Once we finally sat and ordered, I noticed that the same girl was passing out NYE hats for celebrating. Funny how this girl breezed right past our table and gave some out to the table behind us instead. No one during the 1.5hrs that we were eating offered us anything. It was not until my friend asked our waiter if we can get some of the table, he replied with "sorry we have no more." Literally 2 minutes later I see another waiter coming to bring NYE hats and blowers to this table behind us who JUST SAT DOWN. At this point I looked at my waiter and shook my head, when he came over I told him how messed up this was. How we were being discriminated against because we were asian (we spent $600 here so money was def not a factor.) Once I put them on blast for their discriminations and called them out, two different waiters showed up with NYE hats and blowers for the table, claiming that they had to "steal it from someone else." We order the crabcake which was OK. The tuna tatare was poorly made as the tuna was veigny when biting into it. The bacon was alright; KEENS has better bacon btw. The porterhouse was just OK along with the rib eye. If anything only the lamb chops and the mushrooms were good. Everything else was so freaking average. IN CONCLUSION, SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND SPEND IT ELSEWHERE. Most basic, average, overpriced, RACIST steakhouse ever. Come here if you want to put a dent in your pocket and be discriminated against. This is NYC for godsake, the fact that this happened to us blows my mind still. There are so many better steakhouses with better food and better service. DEFINITELY NEVER COMING BACK HERE EVER.

The best steak in an American steakhouse!

By Barbie |

The BEST steak I've ever tasted in an American steakhouse. I'm not sure what's going on in the kitchen but they are cooking up magic back there. Literally everything was good but the porterhouse steak was the star. The Canadian bacon is heavenly. PROS: tomato, bacon & shrimp salad Canadian bacon Porterhouse steak Creamed spinach Mushrooms Round tables

What an experience! Costly but good & fun!

By Pablo2504 |

Yep, American steaks in sizeable portions. Great quality and perfectly cooked. If you love steak, want to have some fun and experience the entertainment of a smooth working restaurant brigade, visit Wolfgang. And yes, W loves his restaurant and that's part of the fun too.

Well worth a visit

By fsoderblom |

We had the porterhouse steak, which was amazing. Staff was very nice and friendly and very attentive. Well worth a visit.

Amazing Steak!!!

By GreatFamFun |

My friends and I have been here several times and love it. The steak is always perfect and the service is top notch. One of the better steak places in the area.

Steaks are great, but don't overlook the fish!

By falcon1965 |

We had a lovely birthday celebration at Wolfgang's this past fall. With ten guests, it was an expensive evening, but we didn't feel it was overpriced at all. Steaks, as expected, were top-notch. The surprise was the tuna tartare appetizer (best I ever ate), and the tuna steak main dish that my husband enjoyed. Family style sides should be shared. Warning: portions are enormous. We all took home enough food for sumptuous dinners at home. Next visit, I'll have two appetizers and I know I'll still be sated.

Outstanding service and outstanding food

By Thom D |

We happened by this spot while walking through Tribeca on a lovely spring evening. Our original restaurant didn't pan out; they were closed on the holiday. The menu at first seems pretty limited for steakhouse. Only a few steak options, one lamb options and a I think a couple fish. No children's menu for our shorter colleague, but he wasn't the only kid in the place. They were very gracious that we didn't have a reservation. We were seated immediately. The service was attentive. The jumbo shrimp were incredible, I was glad we shared the Cesar salad which was huge. My ribeye was perfect. My wife and kid shared a Filet that melted. It was exceptional. Dessert was amazing. Anything with the whipped cream. It's not cheap, but worth every penny. We'll be back the next time we are in town.

Great place for a business dinner or lunch in Tribeca

By dianewrivera |

I have eaten here for dinner 3 or 4 times and many more times for lunch since I work in the area. The steak choices are delicious and all the food is always well prepared and fresh. It is a perfect place for a business meal as well as for dinner or lunch with friends, Pricey, but worth it.

Birthday dinner. Odd hostess.

By sarahwarah74 |

We were in town for a few days having dropped off our son at Princeton university for the first time. We booked Wolfgang’s for my husband's birthday as he is a big fan of this chain of restaurants from previous visits to NYC. We arrived 2 minutes before our booked table at 7pm, the restaurant was quiet at this stage. The hostess appeared disgruntled at our arrival and told us to wait at the side. A young American couple arrived shortly after us. They were greeted reasonably warmly by the hostess and shown straight to a table. We were left waiting. A few minutes later an older gentleman who appeared to be managing the dining room came to meet us, gave a slight apology and showed us to the table. After this, the meal was good. We had a seafood platter to start, then porterhouse with sides. Very large portions, beautifully cooked meat. Intermittently, the hostess would appear at the side of the dining room and look miserable, even more so when she had to show an Asian couple to their table. I wonder whether she had a problem with non-American diners (we are English). Anyway, the food was good which is the main thing and the waiters were nice.

A mixed bag

By alex h |

We were very surprised to find the place completely empty (2 other people on a Saturday lunch time). I think the waiter must have been on his first day because he hadn't a clue, forgot orders and seemed rushed off his feet (remember the place was empty). Now for the food. The crab cakes were excellent (albeit very filling). I had the porterhouse for two which was delicious BUT it was already cut into pieces. I HATE this. I want to cut my own meat and keep it as hot as possible for as long as possible!! The hamburger looked wonderful and the vegetable side dishes were good. The wines were totally overpriced. I would go back but with a slightly critical eye.

Well worth the walk

By Brynjolfur P |

We visited New York for a 5 night stay and our hotel was up near Times Square. Now, some people might say, "Why didn't you go to the Wolfgang's on 54th? It's closer to your hotel." See, my wife went to the Tribeca location 2 years earlier and got the most outstanding service that she has ever gotten. She was on a trip to New York with her masters degree graduating class and the staff at Wolfgang's Tribeca had gone out of their way to accommodate her and her party (6 people in total) even though the place was full. They simply made it work. She was completely blown away and just HAD TO show me the place. Needless to say, I was not disappointed either. We took the subway down to Tribeca and came in pretty early, around 6pm or so. We ordered a bottle of water and a glass of wine; my choice was a merlot and my wife's choice was a pino noir. Then it was time to look at the menu. Taking my wife's advice, I opted out of ordering an appetizer, and after a brief discussion, we went for the 'steak for 2' (cooked medium-rare) along with 3 sides; the steamed asparagus (the wife's choice), the sautéed mushrooms (my choice) and a baked potato (for a moment I was worried because we only ordered 1... but I changed my mind the moment the food hit the table) The steak-the biggest T-bone I have ever seen in my life-was spot on medium-rare! The flavor was to die for. The asparagus and mushrooms literally melted in my mouth; and the potato... the JUMBO sized baked potato (thank heavens we only ordered one)... leaves all other baked potatoes in the dust. Never in my life have I had such a delicious meal. To this day, I can still remember the flavors. Then came the part of the meal that a lot of women-my wife being no exception-use to judge the worthiness of a restaurant... namely, desert. Please, bear in mind that I had eaten more than my fill of the steak and sides; the thought of having desert after all this was kind of frightening... but we decided to split a tiramisu; cause like the wife says "there's always room for desert!" It was heaven! So you can imagine our sadness when we checked out their desert menu online recently and noticed that it was nowhere to be found. The service was flawless. Our server was present without being intrusive; always ready to please. He was polite, helpful, inviting, and made us feel very much at home. He had a wicked sense of humor too; which is a huge selling point in my book. Their home made steak sauce is absolutely delicious and I inquired of our server where I might find this wonderful sauce, cause I was of a mind to purchase some and take back home with me to Iceland. He told me that I could get some right there, right now, if I wanted. Needless to say, I jumped at the chance and we left, happy and smiling, after having shaken hands with the manager, thanking him for a wonderful time, and asking him to please give our most sincere compliments to the chef and the kitchen staff as a whole. We decided not to take the subway home. We walked; all the way up to Times Square. It was a nice night, we'd just had the greatest meal ever, and we didn't want it to end. This is a place that I would recommend wholeheartedly and I am dying to go there again. The next time I'm in New York, I'm coming back. You can count on it.

Great food, great service

Had a swell time ordering and sharing the porterhouse steak. Its massive! The sides were great too. And the recommended wine went really well with the food.

2nd Anniversary Dinner

By Russ j |

we chose to try a new steakhouse for our anniversary dinner so we went to Wolfgang's in Tribeca. the experience was better than expected, we both decided on the Rib eye's which was delicious, sides was good as well. for us it's also about the experience of trying new steakhouses around town to see which one we like the best. Wolfgang's ranks high on our list and will return hopefully in the near future.

Wolfgang’s Steakhouse Tribecca

By George C |

Awesome service and food. Amazing atmosphere. Parking easy to find in the evening on the surrounding streets. Did I say excellent food? Steak, lobsters and side dishes: delish! Yummy deserts and cappuccino, very nice selection of wines. Overall my favorite place for gathering with family and friends.

Good Food and Efficient

By di05 |

We decided to have our Christmas Day lunch at Wolfgangs Tribeca after looking for a traditional Christmas Day dinner. Most restaurants were booked out offering special meals. Wolfgangs is a traditional Steak and Seafood Restaurant. It offers beautiful steaks perfectly cooked and good selection of seafood including fresh lobster for main course or less cost first course. Service was from expert waiters. Customers were mainly locals either visiting from outside New York or residents. Would definitely go again but not for Christmas or Easter.

All this restaurant is is a famous person's name

By Andreainalberta |

Came here during restaurant week for lunch with a colleague. He ordered the steak and I ordered the fish, and we also ordered some appetizers off the main menu. Service was attentive, as one would expect based on the regular menu price tags, but the food itself left much to be desired. The atmosphere was cold, if not sterile in the restaurant, and it was almost empty even though it was during lunch on a Friday... which is indicative of how others in the area must feel about it. Would not recommend.

Great steaks, and good atmosphere

By Jay T |

Went to Wolfgang's in Tribeca for a work dinner, and I was very pleased with the service and atmosphere. It was quiet enough to hold a conversation even though the restaurant was at capacity. The waiters were attentive without being overbearing, and my party and I were able to relax and enjoy a leisurely dinner. As for the food, the Steaks were perfectly cooked, and the side orders were reasonably sized and very flavorful.

Bigger Steak Cuts to Share

By tionga2001 |

I had an amazing dinner here with my family on Saturday 07 February 2015. We started with a seafood platter (lumpy crab meats, colossal size shrimp cocktail and lobster tails over a bed of ice) and then we had porter house steaks, 1 cut for 2, cooked rare and 1 cut for 3, medium rare. Wow, it was worth the trip coming here from New jersey. The apps were so fresh and the steaks were so tender and its seasoning were so appetizing. We will definitely come back.. !!

Overrated and overpriced

By Martin B |

I was told by a friend that this was his favorite restaurant in NYC, so we went with great expectations. The waiter treated us as if we were lucky to be there. The sommelier was indignant that I asked about wines by the glass, even though I ended up having four at $22 a glass. The steak was ok, but not exceptional. All in all we were done and handed a check within an hour. Maybe Sunday is not there best day...

Decent steak - nice setting

By SSS |

Was there on a business lunch - clients picked the place. It was decent. Cannot fault the food, drink, service!!! Priced very reasonably too. Very bright/airy restaurant with good social distancing. Will be back...

Meal (THE steak), wine and interior in perfect harmony ! Excellent, professional service with a good wine recommendation. The restaurant itself is a must for architecture and interior design lovers.

Terrific service, food and ambiance.

Brought clients to restaurant. Wanted everything to be just right, and it was. Steaks, salads, sides were all excellent. Waitstaff was attentive without being overbearing. I highly recommend Wolfgang's.

Excellent steakhouse

By AER212 |

We enjoyed a fine dinner of a selection of meats and seafood. Excellent service and the meat is cooked to perfection. Amazing wine list as well. A fine -- if very expensive - choice in Tribeca.

Great food so-so service

By Marian T |

The food was very good, but this is a nice restaurant and they should know how to give the food to the right people. There were plenty of non-steak choices for lunch. The salmon salad is very good. Desserts are typical steakhouse fare and good choices.

Wow! that's the only thing I can say!!!

By Gerald T |

Peter Luger is great. Smith & Wollensky is wonderful but Wolfgang's is simply WOW !!!! I went there several times, one after the other and, good Lord! What this man does with his steak (especially the Filet Mignon) is completely overwhelming. Staff is beyond wonderful. And the Pecan Pie.....OMG !!!! ENJOY LOVE Gerald

perfect place

By Merima H |

I wondered where I could go to a good dinner with friends and I came to this restaurant. Turned out to be an excellent choice for us. The restaurant is a big hit for large group gatherings. :) The steaks were cooked perfectly. Taste was amazing! Highly recommended.

very good

By Juego321 |

The steak for lunch was almost perfect, just a bit too burnt on the outside. Still the medium rare part was on the dot. The location itself is nice for a steakhouse.

Amazing night for New Years Eve

By laura_k1986 |

Neighborhood canteen service with normal meat and exaggerated price for what it is!

By JMIA2013 |

They should train the waiters, very bad service you want to choose the wine there is no somelier and the waiter tells you they are all more or less the same! and to end the proximity of the tables and the noise is unbearable

Traditional steak house

By Katrin S |

One of the highlights of this restaurant is a giant bottle of wine at the entrance. The kids loved seeing that. The food is traditional steakhouse fare. The service is friendly. I would like to have seen more salad choices. The kids enjoyed the steak. Overall a good meal for anyone that likes steak restaurants.

The perfect steak!

By portita |

We just experienced the perfect porterhouse steak last night. Went there with friends from Belgium who wanted to try real American steaks and it did not disappoint. The sides we got were very tasty: the sautéed spinach and broccoli, the fries and the steamed asparagus, but nothing overboard as to let the steak shine as the star of the show. We didn't have desserts there. The California Prisoner Cabernet worked great on the side. Service was courteous and prompt, atmosphere was relaxed, maybe on the noisy side, given there were a few birthdays celebrated and Christmas reunions.

Great steakhouse :)

By Vedran H |

I have eaten a many different steakhouses in NYC, however, this one is at the top of the list! I've been here in several occasions and never had a complaint. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Amazing steak

By dbuggy |

We went here looking for a good steak and we found great steak! The filet mignon was amazing and huge. Couldn’t finish it, but I did try. Shouldn’t have filled up on side dishes. Great service too. Would definitely go back next time we are in NY.

It tastes better than looks

By poleff |

The place is pretty cold in terms of conditioning so Ladies - no open evening dresses otherwise you need to put a fur coat on! Service is very good because they have an army of waiters and hosts. Food comes pretty fast because they are very interested to send you off asap and put another guest on your place to serve him the same fastest way. Food quality.... well for me it looked a bit strange - so I have mozzarella (1 piece) with tomatoes (2 slices) and fillet mignon which looked over cooked but indeed it was soft and medium rare (as I ordered) inside. So I want to say that appearence was much poorer than real taste which was great and delicious!

There are Better

By Max D |

It was a slow Saturday, and so decided to get an early dinner in the area. Wanted to try something different as I'm a routine kind of guy. Came into the place, very fancy. This was not my first time, more like my second time but been a while so decided to try again. I was not overly impressed the first time. Steak tasted the same in all the locations. Perhaps it's my preference, but the steak was flavorless. I'm chewing but not sure I'm eating a steak. Actually, a hamburger would be more tasty. Service is very average. It's a fancy steakhouse and the bar is nearly empty, no excuse for lack of prompt service. I was never asked how my food was. Beer mug was empty at times. Greeters were unfriendly. There are better steakhouses in the area like Dylan Prime, the Capital Grille, and Morton's.

Enjoyable meal

By Scott R |

We had a group of about 14 for a business dinner. The waiter suggested that, with a group of our size, we go with a family style option. They offered 3 non-steak options which two of our group went with. The rest of us let the waiters pick. Started with a cold seafood platter. Smallish Lobsters (cut in half), large shrimp and crab meat. It was awesome. Then the steak came out along with a number of sides. We could have done with a little less food but that’s a minor issue. Everything was excellent. One of the non-steak folks had sea bass and the other had salmon. The portions were large. I have no idea how that large a portion of salmon was cooked all the way through but the lady that had it said it was cooked perfectly and was excellent. I didn’t get a chance to ask about the sea bass. The sides were awesome. There were some type of grilled potatoes, mushrooms, spinach, onion rings and probably something I’m forgetting. Desert was a tray with sampling’s of many items. That allowed everyone to try a little bit of multiple items. The selections and portions excellent. Service was excellent and not obtrusive.

Standard steakhouse

By Jasmina E |

Quality of food was ok but nothing special. Portions are big. They have excellent steak frites. Service was poor and not really friendly. Maybe because we were with kid. Anyhow would not go there again, price are like a high class restaurant which we did not experience other than appearance of the restaurant.

If You Are Going For STEAK, Go NO FURTHER!

By Litehous |

Over the past several years I have enjoyed this restaurant to the "Nth Degree"! Close friends first brought me to it some 7 years ago and it's been my one "Go To" spot when in Manhattan for steak! When dining, you simply MUST begin with the broiled Canadian bacon appetizer (I recommend at least 2 of these thick cut slices as one is just not enough). Then ANY of their cuts of steak will put you in pure "bliss of beef"! Their steaks are cooked to perfection in whatever level of doneness that you want. The last time there were 4 in our party and two had theirs medium rare, one ordered rare and one ordered medium well, and all 4 were perfectly on target. I won't get into the sides but if you enjoy the garlic mashed or sautéed broccoli rabe, or home fries, you will be thoroughly delighted. But, save room for any of their deserts!! For me? Well, there is nothing like a medium-rare rib eye steak at Wolfgang's, at their Tribeca location in NYC. By the way, they have several other locations around the city, so take your pick of perfection in steak, when you're in NYC, at Wolfgang's!

Tyrannosaurus Rex Size Porterhouse that Melts in Your Mouth!

By Becky W |

I dined here with a group of 30 people. We had our own dining room and wait staff. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the food was served hot and within a reasonable time. Wolfgang's boasts a see through wine closet and the wine selection is excellent. The Porterhouse steak was served family style and had to have been cut from a cow the size of Tyrannosaurus Rex! While many restaurants would over or under cook a steak this size, Wolfgang's pulled it off perfectly. From the well done thinner ends to the medium rare filet portion. Wolfgang's personal steak sauce was available on the table, however, no one in the group used it because the steak was so perfectly flavor-able on its own. I can say my medium rare filet portion was likely the most tender steak I have ever eaten. The side dishes were also served family style and included braised mushrooms/onions, home-style hash brown white potatoes, and asparagus with hollandaise sauce. Others in my party who chose the tuna or sea bass over the steak also commented how savorful their selection was. One associate stated the tuna steak was in his top 3 experiences for extraordinary tuna. I also had a few bites of the apple pie like fluffy pastry for dessert which was very yummy. The only negative keeping me from giving Wolfgang's 5 stars is how loud the dining room was and the difficulty conversing with people just across the table. My recommendation would be to install sound absorbing material on or in the walls. In brief, I would definitely eat here again if I have the opportunity!

Magic meat

By Martin B |

One of the best meat I ever ate was the Porter House Steak for two at Wolfgang's. Simply delicious. Completed by sliced beefsteak tomatoes and onions and a jumbo baked potato.

Amazing Steak

By janice s |

While it was very crowded with many birthday parties, bachelor parties, etc., the service was good. The food was exceptional with Filet done to perfection just the way you like it. The sides are served family style with large enough portions to go around. The bar area was full but bartender kept up. I would go there again.

Classic steakhouse, with a twist

By Sakman73 |

Wolfgang's is a classic steakhouse -- large portions, wood floors, impressive prices. However, the Tribeca neighborhood gives it a "homey" type of feel, which was a surprise.

Snow and steak

By NC R |

Around the corner from my friends Tribeca apartment, this is a large and comfortable steak house. It was not crowded as we went in the middle of a snow storm. The staff was excellent and made sure we were comfortable. We split two salads as an appetizer and a large steak as an entrée, creamed spinach and French fries. A delicious dinner and in this case, portion control. The steak was delicious and perfectly cooked. Everything was cooked perfectly. We shared a piece of key lime pie with schlag ( as close to Florida as I will get this week!). I highly recommend this restaurant which I believe was started by a former Peter Luger employee but here you can get a reservation and use a credit card!

Excellent Filets

By GoodBrewsGuy |

While in NYC for a quarterly business review, we gathered at Wolfgang's for our first dinner party. Our evening began with wine sampling which was quite nice. The food here was outstanding! With a party of over 50, the service was great too! Their filet was so tender and flavorful. I probably could have cut it with my fork alone...

Amazing steakhouse experience

By Gary Q |

If you are looking for a true steak house experience as well as and most importantly a great steak - Wolfgangs is your spot. I have visited the Park Ave location several years back but was close to Tribeca so we went to the Greenwich location that did not disappoint. I was with my 17 year old son who was craving a good steak. We had the Porterhouse Steak for 2 and it was spectacular. The sizzling bacon is a must try slice for the bacon lovers - my son could not resist. Service was beyond great with and abundance of attentive and knowledgable waiters on the floor. Treat yourself - you will not regret it.

Exellent

Relaxing delicious dinner!

By Barb D |

After a beautiful day at the Freedom Tower we stopped for dinner. After one sip of the Sterling cab and a bite of an onion roll I felt relaxed. Five of us ordered the porterhouse for 4 and a grilled salmon. Fabulously delicious with sides of fries, mashed potatoes, asparagus and creamed spinach. If you're into apps, the oysters and tuna tartar were real hits! We each had a different dessert but the hot fudge sundae was the winner! Our wait staff were wonderful and helpful in making our decisions. Bon appetite!

Great staff

By JoJ |

Sadly the food was a little disappointing but the service was second to none. Our waiter was lovely, full of great advice from the menu and sharing his story of how he arrived in NYC - brilliant start to the evening. Starter of maple syrup bacon was fantastic. We ordered the porterhouse to share with a side of spinach she mashed potatoes, portions are huge. Steak was well cooked to our liking but I prefer Strip House for steak, I think there’s is far tastier. Make sure you go when you are super hungry!

Enjoyed a fabulous PorterHouse Steak cooked to perfection. Service was great, price reasonable. A very busy Saturday service- mixed clientele family, friends and couples. I will return from London to enjoy a Wolfgang steak again!

Over rated and overpriced

By miamisuzy |

Recommend by a colleague- I was expecting something great So disappointing. The steak was average - my husband cooks better . The creamed spinach seemed like it was the frozen type . A very average experience- I will not return There are much better steak houses in New York for a much more reasonable price.

If You like Steak

By Paolo1005 |

We were invited here by a friend who claims that this is the best steak house in the city. I m not the biggest steak lover but do enjoy one now and then. I must say that the steak was excellent! Who knows maybe it is the best in the city

One of the top 10 steaks I have had

By Yariv G |

When I come to New York on business or for R&R I always go to Peter Luger in Brookline for a good steak. This last October I came for a short trip so crossing the bridge was not an option. I went to Wolfgang on Tribeca instead and I have to say - they make a mean porterhouse. It was grilled to perfection, seared on one side and juicy all around. With a side of spinach in cream, this was a meal to remember. Next time I visit I think this will be my choice for steak. Sorry Peter :-)

Great NYC Steakhouse

By bay-back |

Great service, relaxing atmosphere which is not OTT and most importantly great steaks. We had the NY strip - cooked to perfection - the servings are huge so don't overdo the sides! Great place for dinner.

Delicious Treat

By JayDee2007 |

I visited this restaurant for a private party of about 35 people so consider those circumstances when reading my review. The service was great and the food, served family-style, was amazing. The size of the shrimp! The bacon! The steak! Everything that was brought to the table was delicious. Again I cannot speak to the general atmosphere as we were in a private room. Not sure this is a spot I would frequent regularly due to the prices but it's definitely a special occasion spot.

... not worth it

By Jo Eagle |

all the 5* rating seem to have no idea of food meat AND good service, sorry. the meat and preparation is ok, but since dry aging is a standard procedure today, I can get much better quality at OTTO gourmet or similar... the service is focussed on turnover, not on service. remaining 2* rating just for the meat...

Delicious Dinner

By Tracy S |

I walked (literally) across the street from the Citi building for dinner and was thoroughly impressed. The waitstaff was excellent and the food was delicious. The best part of the evening was the laid back and non-rushed feel of the restaurant and I really enjoyed the feeling of being able to relax and enjoy my dinner without the pressure from the waitstaff to turn the table. My steak, the sirloin, was prepared to my exact asking and the mashed potatoes were amazing! The house sauce is a very good accompaniment to the steaks and adds another layer of flavor. Dino was an awesome server, and the entire staff was friendly. This place truly exceeded my expectations and I would recommend it to anyone in the area.

Great first night in NY

By SarAntti |

Our first night in NY, we went to this steakhouse, and wasn't dissapointed. The steaks are a bit pricey, but they tasted so good, so it was worht it. The service was OK, but nothing more than that.

A great alternative

By wolfgang |

If you crave a sizzling porterhouse and German potatoes but you can’t book Peter Luger 3 months in advance this is a perfect place. All joke aside, the meat is prime and the chefs knows how to prepare it. Great sides and good desserts. Loved the key like pie. Definitely a place to see more often

An Amazing steakhouse with choices for those who are not into steak!

By Miriam T |

Each year on my husband's birthday we go out for a fine meal. His choice is always steak. So far, we have checked out Peter Lugar's (with reservations, the wait is not worth it), Keen's (a classic), the Old Homestead (fun, but loud) and Sparks (did not leave an impression). This year, our party of 8 went to Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Tribeca. Now I have to confess, I am not a red meat fan, but what I really liked about this place was that there were other choices on the menu. I started with the Lobster Cocktail which came with a fresh cocktail sauce (tangy & tasty!) and had the grilled Sea Bass as my main course. The fish was amazingly fresh and flaky (just the way I like it). For those in our party indulging in steak (which was kind of the point of going to Wolfgang's), there were 4 Filet Mignons ordered and 1 NY Strip Steak. This was my son's first steak experience as he never seemed much into red meat. but he really enjoyed it (even took the left overs home and had me re-heat for the next evening's meal). The traditional sides were shared "family style"; German potatoes, creamed spinach, steamed asparagus, sauteed mushrooms, etc. We ordered the onion rings, but for some reason they did not arrive, and it was promptly removed from our bill. Their Tribeca location is everything you would expect it to be; beautiful modern interior, excellent service, great drinks (I had the best Prosecco ever called Gancia 1850; if you a fan of Prosecco, do not miss this one), and pricey! Be prepared to spend on your meal here and do not be shocked when the bill arrives. Having said that, it was totally worth it for a special occasion with friends and family!

Eh....

Wolfgang's steakhouse is good at best. While the staff is incredible, the food can best be described as large portioned bar food. Prices are reasonable compared to other establishments with the word "steakhouse" in their name. All in all, if your looking for a step up from Outback Steakhouse then this is the place for you.

Good steakhouse with attentive service in a nice location.

By Grillmasters |

Had a surprise birthday dinner for my other half. Ate in a private dining room which was nice. The waiters were very attentive. Everyone enjoyed their meals.....Chilean sea bass, porterhouse for two, and filet. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Appetizers were tasty especially the crab cakes and Caesar salad. Sides were good, especially the fries, creamed spinach and fries. Asparagus and mashed potatoes so-so. As it was a birthday I had contacted the property to see if it was possible to bring in our own birthday cake. Sal said no problem. The GM, Ed, was very congenial upon our arrival and during our stay. There was a small issue with the bill which they quickly addressed. Everyone were pleased with the overall experience. Again a big thank you to Ed and Sal with note to Amir.

Excellent Service - big portions

By benzslkgirl |

Started off with the crab cocktail...wow...so good, and the crab was extremely fresh! When the steak came, it was a little overdone, but the staff was very gracious, and quickly cooked us another steak perfectly. Attentive staff...great service.

Porterhowza!

By shalmunzies |

Can't speak much to most of the menu items, but the porterhouse for 2 was cooked perfectly - came out sizzling and carved tableside by a personable waiter. With a side of sauteed spinach it was delish. Haven't had any better in the city.

Best steakhouse in the NYC

By Chuck Cheng Chung Chang |

People always think about Peter Lugers is the best one steakhouse in the NYC but somehow if you count service into the review, Peter Lugers is NOT the one. Wolfgang is the one, since I was a student in the NYC, had been there couple time with my friends. The one in Times square is also a good choice for meeting friends or clients. This time I have good experience with my wife and friends in Tribeca, Wolfgang, I can say it is also great. No matter steak for three or appetizer are great and side dish can not complaint. Not only meats but also vegetable, they are completely awesome for dinner. Only one thing it is not nearby subway station, we met up in the nearby one Canal street stop by A,C,E train and walk to there about five-eight minutes. There are bunch business people got together for business dinner, which I do not really like it but somehow Wolfgang is unbeatable.

Great steak

By Jupiter81 |

We follow a recommendation from friends because we wanted to eat meat. We were not disappointed because the steaks we had were really very good. They were huge for our European standard, really you can eat in two with one steak. Wines are a bit expensive but we had a Cabernet by the glass at $15 and it was excellent. Personnel attention was also very good. the location in Tribeca is very nice and easy to find.

american steak´s at it´s best

By JoeBlum |

Drop off for taxi or uber directly in front of the entrance. Very polite waitress. We ordered Porterhouse an Ribeye. Both great! Service was outstanding and we couln´t leave out the desserts. So good. I will come back!

Outstanding Traditional Steakhouse

By G6441CTjohnf |

Wolfgang's signature porterhouse steaks are consistently wonderful, as are their burgers. The steaks can be ordered per person or as many lunch and dinner diners prefer, for the entire table. The sides of German and Mashed Potatoes shouldn't be missed.

Best bacon, amazing steak!

By GeeLCee |

This place has great atmosphere, expert wait staff and DELISH food! If you go & don't order the bacon for entree, you're crazy! The steaks are wonderful. Tonight was our second visit & it's a staple whenever we return to NYC

Exquisite Tasty Steaks

By dudeman8 |

Oh yeah, this is a steak to remember. Comfortable tables and ambience, which was just the right noise. We enjoyed our waiter who was helpful, entertaining and warm. Nice to see that in NY. We ordered NY Strip, filet and porterhouse for two, which was so exquisite that we will order it every time at Wolfgangs. Yes, the Canadian bacon was memorable and best with bread. A good cabernet from California is really useful to breakdown the richness of this fine meal.

Great steak - but service could have been better...

By travel_wm |

Took my 21 year old son to Wolfgang's to treat him to a decent steak while he was working this summer in NYC. Food was very good. Steak was huge of course (and at $50 it should be) and as usual we ordered to many appetizers before the steak came. But the steaks were cooked perfectly and were delicious. The service however was not quite up to par. When the waiters came, they were great, but it was like they forgot we were there sometimes. And it really wasn't that busy. Not terrible service by any means, but I expected better. Of course, my 21 year old son didn't care! He loved the steak!

Great steakhouse in Manhattan - Minus the "attitude" the other big steakhouses have.

By yoavzuri |

Great steaks. The place is a bit on the loud side. We came twice on the same week, the steak was that good.

Amazing steak house I guess one of the best one sin NY for the moment

By giedrute |

Fantastic meat, service was great try the spinach in cream one of the best I've ever had. Fast service nothing to complain about.

Very disappointing

By Stevo9999 |

I am a big fan of the simplicity of the New York steak house, and when in the city we always come to one. We chose Wolfgang's as we have been to the mid town one, and it had good reviews. The bottom line to this poor review is for the price the service and food was no where near good enough. We will not return. We were greeted when we arrived by a frosty hostess, who explained that our table was not ready, and then left us standing before we suggests that we would get a drink at the bar. We ordered a bottle of ( over priced) wine and started to drink it. The same frosty hostess came over and announced we needed to settled up at the bar as our table was ready. We were then faced with carrying out bottle and wine over to the table. Our waiter was almost as surly as the hostess, and took our order. Caesar salad and steak. ( it is a steak house) the salad was fine, but not worthy of its $13 price. The steaks came, were enormous, too big the rib eye steak could not fit on the plate, but was unevenly cooked, between rare and medium. The fillet was not as tasty or tender as I had hoped. The chips were cold and chewy, and the creamed spinach was more cream than anything else. When we complained about the cooking of the steak, the waiter reluctantly offered to put the rib eye back on the grill. Now again we are talking $45 steak here, we expect better.

Good but Smith & Wollinsky's meant and atmosphere beat it

By Stephen B |

We had lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant was empty at 1 PM. The atmosphere was frigid. The waiters seemed to be uninterested. We ordered meat, crab cakes, and a chunks of crab. We got beautiful crab meat, raw and cooked. We ordered a porterhouse for two that came almost overcooked (we asked for medium rare). The meat was good but far from great. We also asked for a beefsteak tomato and onion salad. We got huge slices of both, nothing like a salad. We took the house cab. OK but far from special. The service was polite, nothing extraordinary. We had to raise our hand a few times to get attention. The price was USD250.00 for three, with cocktails and wine. Don't know if that is pricey but it's less than Smith & Wollinsky. On the other hand, I would pay for Smith & Wollinksy because the meat was so much better.

Met high expectations

By dkbe |

In Europe, we had heard of Wolfgang's Steakhouse and his methods to age steak only on TV. So when we finally came here, expectations were accordingly high. But, concerning service and food, they could live up to it! The appetizers (we had clams and tuna tartar) were really good, and the steak for two was exceptional, along with the sides. Criticism: - the bread was an insult, at least for us Germans - the noise level was close to unbearable, we really had to scream at each other; tables are very close to each other Still, as we went there for the food and this was great - and we were not rushed, I give it a 4.

Exquisite

By Jose J |

Went 2 couples. Nice location. Well situaded. Great service. Appetizers Lobsters and shrimps. Absolutely great! Porterhouse amazing! Its really pricy but really good! Wine is to expensive. Had a great time. Paid $580 for four.

Porterhouse!

By schlipa |

The world famous porterhouse by Wolfgang was as good as they said. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Make sure to book a table in advance as it can get busy at the weekends.

Did not disappoint

By Smith S |

Wolfgangs appears to be a bit of an institution and I was lucky enough to be invited to a business lunch by colleagues here. Service was prompt and efficient and the menu was very appealing. I opted for the steak with fries which was cooked perfectly to my liking and which was very flavourful. Would love to have more business lunches here!

Lovely evening

By isabella n |

A lovely evening, we were well looked after, he staff are incredibly attentive and have the perfect balance of making sure you are enjoying your meal (topping up wine etc) and not be intruding. Excellent food. Definitely coming here again.

Outstanding

By twcrea |

Their dry aged beef is second to none, nicely prepared served sizzling at your table. Nice wine list and good drinks. Not sure what else you need. Don't pass this place up. They also have reasonable parking around the corner.

Perfect steaks

By alexspr |

Probably the best steak I ever had. Perfect meat perfectly done! This place is highly recommended if you're a steak lover.

Great event for 50th birthday

By David J |

Wonderful private room for 50th birthday. Great food and wine, excellent mixed drinks. Upscale and beautiful. Nearly men only in this place.

Great service Great food..

By Highgear310 |

Went on a Thursday after work. The bartender Jack was spot on with recommendations for drink and food, plus knowledgeable of the local area. The waiter service was above and beyond. Paid attention the right way, not to bothersome but you didn't have to wait for refills of water or wine. The porterhouse steak for three was cooked to perfection. Done just right (for our tasting). The sides of asparagus, mushrooms and mashed, all very good. The restaurant was not loud but busy enough. Plenty of space between the tables, you were not seated on top off others. Just a real classy place. Will return and certainly recommended.

MEH

By foodist08 |

Average & Pompous steak house. Food was average at best. Waiter insisted he knew more about my taste than I did and insisted on what I needed to have. meat quality was great but nothing extraordinary... no differentiation from the average steak houses

Deeeelicious. But make sure you're hungry!

By madgenoir |

Loved the steaks at Wolfgang's. My husband had 24oz rib eye and I had the fillet. They understood food allergies and the maître d' made sure that my order was correct when it arrived. Expensive but worth it.

Delicious

Best porterhouse I've ever eaten! Very good quality and best service. Nice and friendly staff! Not the cheapest one but totally worth it :-)

Best steak I have tried in new york city

By franz s |

I have had strip steak at Wolfgang's tribeca and it was perfect. In my opinion, it was better than other famous steak houses. I loved mashed potatoes, too. The service is perfect, as you can expect from a high level restaurant. It is very expensive, but I think it's good considering the steak, the service and the location. I can't wait to have another meal there.

Very good steakhouse

By nmhen |

Seems like you can't swing a dead cat in NYC without hitting a steakhouse. That's fine for us consumers because it creates competition. Wolfgang's is a very good steakhouse. On the NYC steakhouse scale, it's far north of the tired arrogance of Smith & Wollensky's, still north of the competent-but-still-a-chain Palm(s), north of Gallagher's, south of Sparks, way south of Keen's. I find the staff friendly and good at their job. The service to be consistently strong, and attentive but not overbearing. And the food to be above average for NYC steakhouses. It's a steakhouse, so I'm not going to bore you with the details of the menu - you can guess. Very good place. I will be back.

LOVED my meal!

By Uphototraveler |

I was a guest with a group, so we were served family-style. I loved the meal and the atmosphere. We had delicious porterhouse, potatoes, creamed spinach, mushrooms and onions, and a selection of desserts. There was plenty of food and everyone loved it. The service was very friendly and attentive. I would definitely return.

Birthday Dinner

By NYMike929 |

My girlfriend and I celebrated her birthday with a weekend getaway to Manhattan. We had dinner at Wolfgang's and my only complaint was that it was hot as hell in the restaurant. The food was very good; what you would expect from a hi-end steakhouse. This place is expensive but again, you get what you pay for. We had raw oysters, 2 pieces of bacon (a little fatty), the Wolfgang salad, Porterhouse for 2, creamed spinach and hash browns...a very good meal and I would recommend this place.

Great Tribeca steak restaurant

By KatherineLouise |

Steak restaurant with lots of character. Steaks are high quality, though our medium-rare Porterhouse came up extremely rare. Great choice of sides too - for a Brit, the portions are huge, so don't get too carried away with the appetisers! Food is quite rich. The shrimp in the jumbo shrimp cocktail really are jumbo - and delicious!

Price fix very average.

By Kashasmom |

Ordered price fix. .30 worth of lettuce and an olive. Ok French fries. Steak was average tasteless. Not even worth price.

Excellent steak - pricey but large portions

By jp8898 |

The atmosphere was very nice - quite a few big parties and a birthday (the waiters sang). It was a bit of a treat for us - quite expensive, especially to get the porterhouse to share (which was recommended to us), but the portions are enormous and the quality is very good. We found the porterhouse for 2 and one side too much food for us - which was a shame because the sides and starters all looked great and I would have liked to try more! Many people were asking for takeaway bags at the end which was happily accommodated.

Great expeeience

Lovely sirloin well cooked soft ..mmm excellent spinach and German potatoes. Canadian bacon a treat. Good atmosphere what I would expect from USA steak. Visitors from Scotland .
