Mediocre food with bad service

By kio |

Service is not working. One should realize when to approach when not to approach. We found it super abrasive the way they approached us every time. Also very important to know what to suggest what not to. Waitress managed to suggest us to order ridiculous amount of food, I understand one gets more tip this way but very unhelpful and spoils our mood. Food not bad nor good just inconsistent, even same dish which came 5 minutes apart was executed totally differently. I don’t know.... I don’t think I will go back to NYC Zuma ever...sushi super average, less satisfying than good corner 24 hours deli especially in such a city.

Great sushi in innovative format

By Chris G |

The place is not just another sushi bar but pretty innovative. We enjoyed several plates to share and always found some interesting pieces on each plate. The quality was excellent. The service is friendly.

An absolute must

By ericandrea2016 |

Great place! Highly recommended: great atmosphere, super friendly service, the food is of the highest quality and everything is presented very creatively and lovingly. This restaurant (and you hear this about all Zuma restaurants) is simply run very professionally!

Very good, food, service and cocktails

Lovely experience, staff were brilliant, kids friendly which we found hard to find in New York. Food was very good service top class. Pricey but worth it.

Great lunch spot!

By KDD |

Go early to ensure you can carry a conversation! The lunch menu is good and tasty but limited. You can be in and out quick.

Excellent restaurant

By Climber65854348079 |

The place is very nice, full of furnishings, the food very good but for what we got the price was a bit high. I recommend this dining experience to everyone

Wonderful dining experience

By pgranados |

We had the tasting menu. Maybe a bit too much food, but everything we tried was amazing. Finishing up with a beautiful combination of desserts.

Expensive, average food, poor

By Andre M |

Expensive, average food, poor mercenary service. I end up here because is the only place with available on opentable and always refret.

The best Japanese restaurant

By TravelF0rW0rkAndFun |

In Zuma we loved everything. The food, the service, the ambience, the coctails. Business lunch include the soup, two starters, and a main dish. All delicious. The staff is around you all the time ready to help. The coctails are superb. The steak was overcooked and we showed it to the server. He immediately apologized and brought us a new one within minutes. We will be back for sure.

A great vibe

By Tim |

We went to Zuma with bunch of friends for quick drink and small bites. The ambience is amazing , great cocktails and tasty food. We were accommodated by friendly Ukrainian barman and he gave us great recommendations.

Asian food at its finest

By Mkleak |

Absolutely fabulous! Amazing tasting menu where we got to try all sorts of dishes from the menu. Standouts were yellow fin tuna sashimi, lobster, and the wagyu beef. Desserts were also special with a banana cake to die for! Staff and surroundings were great too. Would definitely revisit and recommend

Disappointing experience

By Ronald Lintag |

I normally enjoy going here and have spent thousands of dollars whenever I bring a large group of my friends over the years. However today my experience was less than stellar. At the birthday lunch for my friend while waiting for our dessert I pulled out my MacBook to show my tech startup idea… only to be rudely interrupted by one of the staff members who told us no laptop is allowed. I’ve never ever encountered this in any restaurant let alone during lunchtime. I can understand if this was an intimate dinner setting at night. But I wasn’t aware of any policy against this. They just lost me as a customer.

Great but cost soon rack up

By Adrian T |

Fantastic location, service, and quality of food. Very clean and clearly popular. It was a business trip so "someone else" paid. But at close to $200 a head, starters, wine, cocktails, desert it's expensive. The desert was amazing!

A huge disappointment!

By psmhh |

I am a huge Zuma fan. In my opinion the best Zuma Restaurant is in Dubai. It was my first visit in New York. Nice setting. But the food was really average to bad. The squid tasted like paper, the meat and the black cod was burnt….They changed the black cod, the second one was better but still slightly burnt. No Zuma experience at all! The waiter was very sorry and invited us to some deserts. These werde really very good, but Zuma is more than desert. Normally. So far I can‘t recomend Zuma New York at all. Really disapointing!

Avoid

Awful. Rude greeting, ambiguous staff. Bad experience. Very unpleasant Issue occurred. Theft from staff and management backed staff. Very unpleasant scene. Avoid.

Signature menu terrible, poor service

By 252shinichim |

We were three and ordered a lunch item- omakase meshi which is most expensive and appears to be a signature menu, but it was terrible. First, we received one small container of boiled spinach appetizer for all three of us to share, together with one bowl of fried something also for all of us to share. Particularly, only one container of the spinach appetizer was very small, and I believe they should give this kind of thing to each of us. And, it would be more sanitary and confortable if they divide a bowl of fried things before serving. Then, we received a plate of Sushi for each of us, with which only two bowls of miso soup arrived. It was not until after we asked the servers that we got a third miso soup. Afterwards, we received two pieces of beef steak for three of us to share. When we asked the servers whether there should be three of them, we were told that they would serve one stake if it is for two people, and two for four people, therefore this time as it was three of us, they gave two pieces to three of us. I don’t understand how they could justify such lack of discipline in determining the amount of food they are providing. As it was not a large piece of steak, they should just give ONE PIECE for each customer. And then, with all of the above, lunch omakase for 80 USD per person is the most expensive food menu for lunch hours at their restaurant! Despite this experience, we visited this restaurant, but the reception service was terrible. I reserved a table at 1300. But when I showed up at 1300, I was kept waiting for ten minutes, then I was told there was only a counter available although I had booked a table. The reception kept insisting on giving me a counter until I told them that i had had issues with the service with their restaurant before, and I would have to report this problem to their management. Finally they gave me a small table at the corner, not a confortable table i had been given before, and in total I had to wait for 15 minutes in total.

Large Group - Excellent

By LoveKC9 |

Large business group of approximately 60. Service was excellent. Food was Devine. Accommodating for those that do not enjoy or eat sushi. Decor is phenomenal. Highly recommend!

nice atmosphere

By Max_66MRoma |

Zuma is Zuma and it's the same everywhere, although some locations may be better than others. The one in NYC on Madison is a very cool venue that is spread over two floors plus the private rooms on the mezzanine. On the upper floor there is a cocktail bar, while the restaurant itself with an open kitchen is on the ground floor. The menu is what we will find in any Zuma in the world. Excellent food quality and presentation of dishes. The Black Cod is superb and a must. High price, but in line with the type of restaurant and the city of NY. The only negative note - and this is the first time this has happened to me at Zuma - I had to wait 45 minutes for my table despite having booked a month in advance.

Zuma Dinner

By VALENTIN_0258 |

Zuma is one of our favourite restaurants, we went to Zuma on our trip to the USA in New York and Boston this year. It is always an absolutely excellent service that is delivered there. From the staff and the service to the food. Simply always at a very high level.

Birthday meal... not great

By Morewineplse |

I booked a table for my birthday, having visited the London restaurant I had high expectations. The food was lovely when we eventually were seated, 45 minutes after my reservation. The service from the hostess was nice but after checking on the table 3 times it was very late by the time we sat down and we were past hungry. We were only in new york and regret not booking elsewhere. I emailed the restaurant a few weeks ago with my comments but have not received a reply.

Lunch

By majentalondon |

Decided to give this place a try out after just going to Zuma in London. The London one is better must say that. But this one is really nice, great decor, friendly staff. My Husband has the business lunch $45 Two appetizers and a main The spinach salad appetizer was amazing. He had Teriyaki Salmon he says it was great. I had the branzino fish with a tomato salad was yummy. Could eat that now. Think my main was $38. The reason I gave I 4 stars is as we waited for our dessert for a long time, the server did say there was a problem in the kitchen and apologized. I feel the dessert should have been given complimentary due to the long wait. It was delicious when it did finally turn up. I would go again having said that.

Dinner Disappointment

By aalzayani |

I recently visited Zuma NYC for a Birthday dinner which was rather disappointing in a word. I think the Zuma brand is not being represented well here and I have visited many of their other establishments and have never left disappointed until now. It all began from the moment we arrived, after requesting a good table for a special occasion we were ushered to what could only be described as the “cheap seats”... lost somewhere between the cleaning station and adjacent to the bar, but without the view. Of course I understand it was only a request and they have the right to seat us anywhere they please, especially if it’s a full house. Luckily after inquiring with the rather cold and disinterested waitress who declined to wait on us, we were shown to a slightly better table next to a young couple who were probably on their first night out ever. After being seated it took a while for us to figure out who was actually their to serve our table as it seemed everyone was too busy looking busy and after twice asking for the wine menu I was approached by the sommelier, Patrick who is a gentleman and in my opinion, their best asset. The server, who I fail to recall given the impression he made on me, was a rather cold man with the personality of an ice cube. After placing our order which was a mixture of Zuma favorites and thankfully did not include the “140 USD Wagyu Steak for a min. of 4 ounces” or else this review would be far far more scathing lol, we tucked into the Wine looking forward to sample some great food. Though the food was good and not terrible at all I can’t help but say it was mediocre and in my opinion just not up to the Zuma standard. Wether I am being extra critical because of the poor hospitality I felt we received throughout the evening or the exorbitant bill I received at the end of it, is also possible however I was generally left unimpressed and embarrassed.. to top the night off, as if the Zuma NY team just wanted to make sure we never came back, I was told, not by our waiter who was apparently too busy to inform us but by his “assistant” that the kitchen was trying to close so if we had any last orders we should get them in and wrap things up lol.. that’s wonderful, except I had called the day before to explain that this was a Birthday dinner and we were still waiting for the dessert and candle, which the bookings team had obviously failed to pass on the full name of the birthday girl so we had to rush around to find our waiter who once available to us again, did actually do a great job putting it all together in the end albeit with my personal involvement and supervision. After dessert and a few sips of Wine we had had enough of being bored and decided to leave to somewhere more lively, especially since the cocktail area upstairs was pretty much closed at 11:45pm or so we were told. The point I am trying to make is, being a fan of Zuma and a returning customer who has dined at Zumas all over the world.. I had great expectations and though it was not my first time at Zuma NYC, I have a low regard for this branch, mainly because when you pay Zuma prices you expect Zuma standards and the lack luster and half hearted attitude of the staff and the mediocre cuisine is just not on par with the rest of the Zuma world..

Zuma - Excellent and expensive as always

By Foodie1983 |

My wife and I went here during the day for lunch and spent over $300 for lunch however you don't mid as long as the service, atmosphere and food are worth it. We have previously eaten at the Zuma restaurants in London and Bangkok so knew what we were going to get - expensive meal but good experience. The food was lovely, wine chilled and served perfectly and the hostess and waitress were both friendly. Zuma is expensive but most of the diners in there when we went were spending company money on business lunches so it is ideally set up for relieving people of 'soft money'. I didn't mind paying for the meal though as it was a nice experience, much better than the likes of Scarpetta in Mid Town which is all style over substance, Zuma has the food and service to match the the fancy decor.

Delicious, excellent service and great atmosphere

This is an example of Zuma standards !!!Excellent service, all food was delicious and the overall ambiance as well as the people was very nice. The manager, Amanda, was outstanding and provided a superb service Congratulations

Free food for health care workers

By thebeautifulguy |

As a nurse that is fighting in front line due to COVID, best way to get appreciated is by good food! Thank you Zuma for the free food you gave me at Four Seasons Hotel. Location: I got the food while I am at Four Seasons Hotel. Service: I got the food at the refrigerator. It was delivered fresh everyday. Food: Everyday they deliver it at Four Seasons. I love all the food! There is also vegan options. I don’t know the name of the exact food but here is my favorite: KIMBAP, SALMON with fried tofu, TRUFFLE CHICKEN salad, AVOCADO QUINOA salad. Sometimes they bring MATCHA pound cake and home baked OREO cookies which I love! Thank you so much for giving me free food! I do appreciate it. I am definitely going here when this pandemic is gone.

Incredible

By BeckyL863 |

Our dining experience was incredible from beginning to end! The servers were very helpful to explain the menu (this was our first time here), the chefs did an excellent job preparing a variety of dishes for us and the dessert was absolutely beautiful and delicious!

Expensive but great food and presentation

By Eva B |

Great visit with large group (tasting menu) proved great experience, albeit expensive experience. Service did not fully live up to restaurant level, but food was great and presentation fantastic

Average and overpriced

By Felipepcjr |

The inside decor is the only good thing about Zuma. The waiters were arrogant and unfriendly. The food was unexpectedly average for an upscale concept like this, way below expectation. Would only come back for drinks.

Pre Dinner drinks

By gsutherl |

Really enjoyed popping into Zuma for some predinner drinks. Unlike so many NYC bars is quiet and relaxing place catch up with people.

Excellent from start to finish

By Erica M |

We had a corporate private event and from start to finish was excellent. The sushi and sashimi was very fresh. The tempura crabmeat was delicious. The tomahawk steaks and beef tenderloin were cooked to perfection. The calamari was also cooked well. The service from our waiter, Max, was beyond attentive to our party of 20. I would definitely recommend this establishment and plan to come again. The restaurant is very modern, clean and full of energy (loud).

Sometimes the last impression counts

By Travel Challenge |

We had a great Omakase Premium menue - high quality and presentation. A kind and pleasant welcome. However, when leaving the three ladies at the entrance just handed over our jackets without a word and dropping one coat on the floor. No doors opened, despite my wheelchair, no friendly goodbyes. As good as the food and location was, leaving the restaurant was like leaving a low cost diner. There is work to be done to complete the impression in suitable manner.

Loved this place...

By tyagi |

Had dinner with a friend and he ordered the Omakase premium for two. It was an amazing meal, withe small plates coming about every 15 minutes.

Exceptional!

By Nadia T |

The food is great there! I ordered the watercress salad and the Black Cod, it was delicious!! I can't wait to try something else next time!

Cool and Trendy Asian Delights with a good NYC vibe.

By Glenn A |

Simply stated the drinks, food, presentation, decoration, interior design - were all very fine. The place is a bit loud and always crowded, but it has a good vibe. You can expect fast, friendly and professional service. The menu is interesting with lots of choices and creative dishes. Everything we ordered was very fresh and well prepared. A little on the pricey side but for me it was a pleasant dining experience.

Great dinner

By Maria P |

Very good dinner with my husband and daughters (7 and 8 y.o.) We has reservations for 7:30pm and we arrived earlier. We waited for our table about 20 min but we had delicious lichee martinis in the meantime. The restaurant was full even though it was Tuesday night. The staff was lovely coming to check on us several times. We had a beautiful table and we started with the lobster spicy miso soup and my children had the white miso. We also shared the calamari. We continued with selections of sashimi nigiri and rolls. The sea urchin was my favourite. We concluded our dinner with the delicious dessert. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere as well. “Best sushi ever” our children declared at the end. We have been also at Zuma in Hong Kong and we adored both locations as much.

Excellent modern japanese

Outstanding signature dishes (great cod), very good sushi and sashimi, quick and efficient service, expensive but worth it!

Japanese Business Lunch

By Ntrekker |

We had a business lunch at this restaurant. Very nice décor. We were seated right away. The menu featured a business lunch includes miso soup, 2 appetizers and a main course. Very well prepared food. The after lunch coffee was with a warm carafe of cream. Nice touch. Recommend this place.

Wonderful Evening

By shop4ever |

We came here for dinner and we were pleased with our choices. The atmosphere is very soothing. The food is delicious and you get to try a variety of food instead of one main dinner. The prices are on the higher end. However, you are getting top quality food. The server was not the friendliest and seemed to be annoyed when we asked any questions. We have also been to the Zuma in Miami. I think that one is better.

Delicious delicious food

By efustok |

We have been to the one in Abu Dhabi, and this was just as fabulous, I love the food, the vibe, and the service is always top notch....if you want a great contemporary Japanese cuisine, you can't go wrong....we did not try one of the omakaze options, the table next to us did, they said it is quite a lot of food, and there were certain things I did want to try that were not in it.....reservations highly recommended

No service...planned a late dinner

By hama007 |

Was looking forward to try some small dishes and wagu. Unfortunataly it ended after half a glass of beer. No service during 20 min, even though the restaurant was half full and at least 8 staffmembers did see me all the time. The client perspective was not in their workdescription I assume. The restaurant was very quick to cancel the booking at opentable so that no review can be done there,) lol. The servicemanager tried to convince me outside the restaurant afterwords to give them a second chans. Well I was to grumpy , ”lost that loving feeling” and the willingness was not there; went to a traditional american steakhouse instead.

The best

Beautiful, good, good atmosphere, great location. Impeccable service. Very varied map. Very good cocktails. Never disappointed in zuma!

Excellent

Zuma is one of the best Japanese restaurants in New York. Elegant place and amazing food. The service is very good. If you go to NYC without visiting this restaurant you may have lost something.

Very disappointing

By inasei |

Well I didn’t expect this night & dinner at Zumba as disappointing as it turned out. We had to wait super long for our table - no drinks were offered in the meantime. Service was intense: for every question & order another waiter showed up. We ordered local wine which tasted absolutely horrible & the most expensive one was suggested instead. Food Quality was average: not as in London & Dubai … atmosphere loud & chaotic, prices completely over the top. My friend celebrated her bday & instead of sending something complimentary they added “Happt Birthday” & a candle on a Dessert we ordered & paid for! Not worth the money ….

Nice

By Ola M |

Great design, good atmosphere and pretty good service. The place was a lot bigger than I expected! Good location. All the dishes was very tasty and good and the prices not too bad. Recommended!

Amazing Couples Night at Zuma

Beautiful restaurant oozing sexiness. Delicious cocktails and delectable dishes. Zuma is definitely a place to see and be seen. Everything we ordered was amazing. I cant wait to come back!

Delicious

By isaacmanila |

A friend recommended this restaurant and it was good that my son and I arrived just as hey opened for lunch and was given a table immediately even with out a reservation. We ordered from their Linch set menu. I had miso soup, salmon tartar and for my main a 5oz. Skirt steak. Dessert was almond cake with fresh fruits. It was delicious and presentation was good. The ambiance of the place was also nice. Everyone there were friendly and helpful.

Good but not the same level of Abu Dhabi

By AN 🖤💙 |

Sushi top! cool atmosphere and one of the place to be at NYC. Overall it is an experience, everything very good but very far from Abu Dhabi standards, if we are compare the quality.

Cool

Cool atmosphere I had a business lunch Great variety of proposals for food and drinks Cool bar Top decor Attentive staff

Not for Solos

By Max D |

I had the worst experience at this restaurant. It’s a beautiful place with a terrific ambiance but unfortunately I’m not able to enjoy it because I was relegated to the sushi bar and so can only stare at the sushi chef. The sushi bar was nauseating for me because it’s so bright unlike the nicely dim ambiance of the rest of the restaurant. They would not give me a table no matter how much I begged even though it was a slow Monday night and they had an entire empty second floor. They told me solos can only sit at the sushi bar. WTF?! Strike one. I wanted to get the Omakase and they got this stupid policy of two ppl minimum. WTF?! Strike two. When I finally got my food, I was shocked because they gave me two of each sushi when I wanted only one of each. This resulted in a huge bill when the sushi here is already very expensive. Strike three. Never coming back.

good restaurant- recommend

Great experience, good food, attentive service. Portion size was more European than US, so that was good barman great mixing cocktails. Price fine for the quality and location

Sushi paradise

Second time at Zuma’s. Ordered the tasting menu and we loved it again. The services is fast and easy, not stiff. Food is outstanding in quality and presentation. Yes, price is not low but for us this is a show and dinner in one. Very happy we went back !

One of the (if not the) best Japanese food-concepts in New York

By LarsStockholm |

We have been to Zuma in Miami a couple of times and always had wonderful food. This time was our first to Zuma, NYC and we were not disappointed. The food menu is almost the same as in Miami but the seating are different - in Miami you can sit by the water - here you can (as we did) sit by the counter where the chefs are making the food. It was a real pleasure to see them work. Specially the executive chef Oliver Lange which was in complete control - looking after every dish that went out to the tables to make it to perfection. I will also mention Raul in the kitchen - a very nice smile all the time to the guests. All in all a 10 point experience.

Great food

By Kbot5000 |

We went to Zuma for the first time based off a recommendation of a friend and We were not disappointed. The venue itself was beautiful, very spacious and contemporary. The food was truly delicious and beautifully presented. The sashimi and nigiri were definitely highlights for me. I was also really surprised by how good the corn was! What made our night special was the staff. The service was really warm and attentive. We really loved Zuma and would definitely recommend it to people visiting NYC who are looking for a modern Japanese experience.

Bad service

By Simona G |

Bad service. After booking, which involves picking up the card, we arrive and they make us wait up saying the place was full. After 15 minutes, they let us in. Sitting at the table, we order by 4 and the dishes arrive not together, so those who started had already finished when the last one started. We asked the waitress if eea normal and she rudely said that they were dishes from different kitchens and it was normal like that. They really forgot a course (we reminded them of it to the kind waitress asking why she didn't arrive) and then they apologized saying that the cook had been wrong to treat all the shrimp. If you wanted more, but we were long gone. After telling them at the entrance that it was the birthday of one of us, they brought dessert and only after seeing that we had put the candles they brought another saying that that was free to make up for the bad figure. All things ‘tolerable’, were it not for the standing of the restaurant and the economic claims.

It was nice to try

By Lanol777 |

I looked forward trying this place as many people talk about it. I would not choose it for a big group of people meeting to discuss business unless you are seated in a private room. Music made it impossible to hear people next to you and sharing food was hard as we were at the big round table. Food was delicious though!!! I really enjoyed every dish I tried. Service could be better.

Exceptional Japanese in a beautiful decor setting that made for a memorable experience!

By mdealvare |

We just bumped into this little gem as we were running some shopping errands - I decided we would walk over to Madison from 5th because sushi is always at the top of our list and it was such a pleasant surprise! Sally greeted us at the door and seated us without a reservation at 2pm, delightful! Food was really really good - excellent and every mouthful is a savory or sweet experience. Service top notch and drinks good. We were very satisfied with an express and business lunch - one each - and not too full. Perfect!

Amazing evening

By Timothy B |

My first visit to Zuma ny, although my husband had been before. Firstly the decor and deign is breathtaking. We had a drink at the bar, from a great menu, then were shown to our table. Joanna our server was so very helpful in helping us decide what to order. The yellow tail was to die for, as was the wagu, shrimp and crab. Ayon and Shaun the floor mangers were both friendly and interesting and all helped to make our evening a wonderful experience. Defining in my list next time we visit the city.

RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS STAFF

By almin1204 |

This was by far THE WORST dining experience I’ve ever had. My partner and I got there 15 mins before our reservation (@ 5:30pm). We were suggested to wait at the bar upstairs and have a drink while they were still in the opening phase. We get to the bar and there’s nowhere to sit, no stools. So we basically had to stand ordering our drinks. We made it clear that one of us had back problems and that we need to sit till our table was going to be available. They eventually pointed a couch by the staircase and we sat there. Then it’s 5:35, we asked a host if we could be seated and she told us to go back downstairs and someone would have taken care of us. We went and the same woman (SANDRA) who checked us in at the very beginning, just walked in front of us a couple of times bringing other customers to their tables. So we wait. Then after a while I asked her if we could be seated and she’s telling me that I can’t be seated cause I’m wearing a hoodie ($600 designer hoodie!). She tells me to tuck it in, which I did even without really understanding why cause other customers already sitting have hats on, one had a sky jacket with the hoodie. Then we waited at least 10 minutes and someone else comes over bragging, not in a polite way, about their policy of no hoodies. Eventually they took us to our table and we ordered our meal shortly afterwards, at least 6-7 courses + drinks. As soon as the appetizers are getting served, I realized I needed to wash my hands and I headed to the restrooms. An obnoxious and very rude woman (NOOR TEETER) stops me saying I cannot wear the hoodie, even if tucked in. I explained that I already had the conversation with Sandra about tucking it in but I wasn’t told to either check it in or put my coat on. At that point she now orders me to either check it in or wear my coat at the table or otherwise I had to leave. She was really nasty also to my partner who tried to have a decent conversation with her. They still charged us, outrageous. I will further escalate to their corporate both in the UK and USA, we were treated so badly and nobody in their staff tried to make it right to us on giving us an enjoyable experience. I already complained to OpenTable cause they cancelled my reservation the second I walked out so that I couldn’t leave a bad review. OpenTable reinstalled it in my history and I was eventually able to review. I wish I could leave a no star or negative star.

SUPER RESTAURANT, SUPER TEAM

By Petre |

A special atmosphere with very good service and excellent food cooked by a team led by a professional Chef. I recommend this restaurant

My impression

By Wagner Hidi |

we went for lunch and ordered the omakase menu! @usd 80 per person!! we expected to eat special sushi, however, they served cucumber uramaki with avocado, spicy salmon, 3 pieces of nigiri and a starter served a white fish carpaccio!! then they served roasted corn, a piece of roast beef, chef's rice, fried calamari!! sorry to go to the restaurant like zuma, pay 80 dollars of omakase not to serve anything different... we thought the chef would prepare some different sushi!! It was very disappointing, and I don't recommend it!! the only thing that saved it was the dessert that really made an impact!! otherwise nothing impressive!!

Top Class

By Luca G |

We decided to try for our second day in NY. These was the first experience in Zuma resturants. The quality and accuracy have been really surprising. Probabily the best tofu ever eaten, also my friend loved his fillet. Good wines and superb desserts. I will come back in NY, but also in ZUMA

A lot of glitz for so-so food

By Janice |

Very big noisy space—looks like it was decorated to impress out-of-towners. We were with people from out of the country and they were in fact impressed. Expensive. We only had sushi and it was so-so. Service very attentive.

Zuma

By mitch J |

booked main dining room on line( not Lounge). Was offered Lounge/Bar area. The Manager told me when area ( dining room vs Lounge) chosen on line it is not guaranteed. Told her Have never had issue at other restaurants. if location offered on line then that is what is expected( ie: inside vs outside, main dining vs Lounge/Bar). Lounge area on top of bar, loud Club like music, hard to converse. Saw waiter at beginning and end of meal only. They neglected to bring out 2 items ordered. Overall food, service, and the way I was treated by Management there are many better restaurants in NYC.

Nice in NY

We booked late and there were not too many people . The food Zuma expectation. I Would not recommend the black cod … for me it had a very strong smell. Same with the salmon tartare. For The rest was really good. Location ok . For Zuma around the world I already visited honestly In NY I expected better …

Delicious!

Reservation is a must! Amazing food and friendly staff. It’s loud though for people who aren’t used to loud music and talks. The music is amazing.

Great food, great drinks, terrible bar service

By Sharon S |

The atmosphere of Zuma is absolutely beautiful, the drinks fresh and creative and the food outstanding. However service at the lower bar area was slow, rude, and impersonal. No conversation, no pleasantries, no checking in to see if you wanted something else, or if everything was okay. For the money, someone could at least smile. Would not go back. Hostess and Maitre D were EXCELLENT.

Very Nice

By rmilagros |

Zuma, nice, chic, delicious, wonderful decor, great wait service and outstanding food. The drinks were great, the sushi delicious and the beef skewers with just the right amount of heat.

Can it even be worse?

By Yash Poddar |

We arrived on time for our booking at 9:00 pm and were constantly asked to wait as our table wasn’t ready. The restaurant manager pleaded helpless and offered 2 stools at the bar to sit down and order (we were 4 of us!) at 9:30. Also I’m reasonably sure that all walk-ins were also accommodated before us. Finally at 9:45 were given a table only when we mentioned that a poor review on TripAdvisor was imminent and that we are regular guests of Zuma at Dubai, London & Bangkok. The casual & nonchalant manner changed a bit and the manager thought he’d placated us by getting a few complimentary starters to our table. His attitude and that of others left a lot to be desired. The food quality is not half as good as other Zuma worldwide. A blot on the brand in my eyes for sure.

Excellent food but sloppy service.

By Bo F |

Three of us went for a business dinner and had a fantastic meal. We ordered the signature menu at $119 and we were treated with an abundance of delicious food. The score of the food was definitely worth a 5 star rating but the service was so disappointing. The food was never presented and the arrogant staff had more interest in looking cool than looking after our table. In London where I live and work they would have had the optional service charge revoked but thought that would have been too rude here in New York so added $90 on top of the $542 bill. Great food but you guys must look better after your clients!

A place to be showed less to eat

By Avi911 |

We visited the restaurant few times before, keep forgetting it is not her London based excellent sister restaurant. The ambiance is vibrant and trendy but some of the food is mediocre. For the food price one can find much better restaurants in NYC. Sushi rolls were very poor, even I can make nicer rolls. Desert of green tea and banana cake wasn’t good. Black cod was good, Chilean sea bass was ok. We ended up paying 300$, including service.

Not Good

By Joni Marie I |

Nice atmosphere, although we were seated near the kitchen. The food was insanely over priced and the portions were small and mediocre. The watercress salad was the best. I asked for well done salmon and it was raw. Service was so so. Our local Japanese restaurant in Hudson Yards is far superior for 1/3 the cost. $800. for not the most expensive dishes is outrageous. I highly do not recommend Zuma!

Vibrant restaurant with excellent food

By Andrea S |

Vibrant restaurant with upscale Japanese cuisine. We celebrated our anniversary in Zuma New York. We were served by an excellent Uzbeck waiter and had simply memorable time!

Crazy

By HonestMcHonest |

Massive joint with over the top decor - like huge sculptures - They make a good cocktail - but the food is not too good - lots of party groups

Zuma class!!!

By Go100go |

Zuma NYC can compete with all the other Zuma‘s around the world. However, my favorite is still the one in Hong Kong. Coming back to Zuma in NYC, this was a great experience. The service and the food were awesome.

Zuma never disappoints

By Ekta C |

Zuma never disappoints! My husband and I have been to Zuma in London, Istanbul, Dubai and this time it was in our hood in New York! We live so close, but never ended up going there somehow. The food and service were amazing! We ordered dumplings, soft shell crab, tenderloin steak, mushroom rice, tofu salad, and beef skewers…..and we ate them all!! Drinks were good too, though we stuck to whiskey and Prosecco. So, can’t comment much on the cocktails. The music, am romance and professionalism of the staff was high standard. They also have great space for private events. I would go there again!

classic zuma food as always, but hugely disappointing hostess experience coupled with a new horrible dress code fiasco!

By 331rg |

fantastic food, great ambience, one of the iconic zuma spots unfortunately, they have some new staff especially at the hostess desk, who have very poor manners and some serious attitude problems, this might not entirely be their fault as they are just doing their jobs, and maybe perhaps are trained to act snooty which comes across rude, fake and desperate instead of hosptiable which is what hospitality is all about! This is further worsened by the fact that the venue seems to have created a fictional dress code, which is poor attempt to act fancier than they are and seems to do more damage than good, its Zuma! no one in their right mind is coming there in sweat pants and flip flops, but beyond that you cannot ENFORCE a dress code especially after not committing to one from day one, this is Zuma you have dim lights, loud house music, the entire vibe created by you is contrary to you now trying to enforce a formal suit/jacket dress code formal dining room/sit down table library like atmosphere, take a leaf out from TAO's playbook on this, NYC is one of the fashion capitals of the world, and being in this music, fashion, nightlife capitals of the world you have to embrace this, or you will struggle, you cant decide how short a woman's dress can be, you cant decide what a man chooses to wear either, expecting basic dressing decency, nothing vulgar and a smart dress sense irrespective of anyones fashion style choice is totally fair but anything beyond that is just absolutely silly, i.e you cannot say don't wear a hooded garment or don't wear open toe heels or silly stupid things like that, I think this situation is also further not helped with the constant and regular change of managers at such a prime Zuma spot, I have visited here multiple times and I will again but i hope not to find any of the nonsense I mentioned above to be a problem again.

Not Zuma standard

By City2013 |

We are big fans of Zuma all over the world, we had high expectations of Zuma New York but unfortunately it does not match our expectations. The quality of the food is below Zuma standard, in all the dishes we tried we missed the high quality representative for Zuma. After 80 minutes a manger throws the bill at us, extremely rude. They did the same with all the tables, after 1:45 you are out, that’s okay when being informed which you for sure are, but the way they did it was extremely rude and not a 400 dollar dinner standard.

Too bad!

By danilo_rodio |

Unfortunately I was not satisfied with the evening. Slow service, a few cold dishes, a few inaccuracies in the bill, some unserved dishes, watered-down cocktails and music too loud to be a restaurant.

Definitely no

By Nicola Z |

They need lessons on customer care. Dinner was low quality. The worst sushi in my life. Recommend many other restaurants in Nyc.

Real Good Food

By PerTravel25 |

Zuma is one of our favorites ever. It is a modernized Japanese style cuisine. We first tried Zuma in Dubai and it was really great food. We miss it so much when we move back here in the US and cannot be more happy that they have it here in NYC. Anything on the menu is amazing. Sushi and sashimi is what they are famous for. For us, we love the Seared Tuna or the Tuna Tartare as an appetizer. The black cod for the main course is a must try, just really good! For the dessert, the sampler is amazing if you want to try almost all their desserts ($20 each person). But if you want to indulge on just one dessert as they are so good, we love the chocolate molten cake or the mocha bamboo dessert.

Can be missed

By SRDJ |

Being a big fan of Zuma all over the world. This one disappoints majorly. Soggy tempura dripping with oil isn’t what one expects from such a lofty establishment! Very less vegetarian variety. This can be missed in a city filled with lots of choices !

Not worthy!

By c.c |

As this was our first time in NYC, we wanted the best, so we decided to spend our NYE at Zuma and go for the so called Zuma Experience! The disappointment starts at the front door. We had a reservation at 22:00 and were seated at 22:30 even though I had told them many times that I was pregnant and needed to seat. Moving on, the food was a disappointment as well. We had a menu of 11 courses with the first one starting at 11:05! The portions for two people were as if for one! Half lobster for two people, one tiny slice of rib eye for two, etc (I ll attach the photos). Service as well was a disaster. I had informed I don’t drink wine as I was pregnant, but they would insist on adding wine to my glass. We were served a welcome glass of champagne on a wine glass and as a result, the waiter would add wine at our glass of champagne as well. I ordered a well done rib eye and they brought me a medium rare one! When I mentioned them that, they wanted to take it back and cook the same one, with the seasoning, more! I of course denied, and as a result, I never tried the rib eye! As for the show, nothing special. A 15’ music and fire at 11:50 till 12:05 and that’s it. At 12:10 they would bring you the check and lights would be on. Of course people around us were complaining as we had paid almost $400 per person for less than two hours of NYE dinning experience. A complete waste of money, time and everything! Overall we spent $800 for two people to dine in a rush and miss any other great experience we could have had.

Too Loud! Not relax...NON-real expensive Japanese foods.

By à la mode |

I am not sure about this restaurant concept. They said "Japanese Izayaka style foods." Izakaya? My understanding, Izakaya supposed to be reasonable foods and Izakaya place does not have to be fancy. Izayaka food is comfy cozy at home-style foods. So I didn't understand they insist this is Izakaya foods. LOL Basically, ..... their foods were not cheap and this point also there is far away from Izakaya concept. Also, the food's quality wise also very far away from Izakaya foods. Their foods were super fusion foods which are so far away from Japanese foods. So I was very confused. If you would like to eat pricy fusion foods, go ahead to go there. If you would like to real Japanese good foods, don't go! There are many traditional high-quality Japanese foods restaurants in New York. OH! "The Salmon and tuna tartare" that I had there. The style they to serve those..... it is exactly a copy of MORIMOTO......WOW! LOL The most disappointing here was the quality of tempura......OMG! Horrible! They should go to "Tempura Matsui" to learn how to make a real good Tempura.

Our favorite in New York

By Autiger80 |

Every time we come to New York we make a reservation and have dinner at Zuma. Can’t say enough about this place. The decor, service and especially the food is if not the best in New York I’m not sure what is. The Sea Bass is the best anywhere. My wife had the Tiger Prawns. If you only have one opening for dinner, try it.

Scam - do not put your card details with the New york branch

By A M |

I am a big fan of zuma, I have been to them all around the world. However after having a meal in NYC for NYE, i paid my bill and as anyone would expect that would be the end (despite the food poisoning, this cant be proven to be them so ill leave that aside). The next day after my visit, i got an email saying i had a charge of 208 usd. No reasoning or further detail. I called up on 1st jan 23, they said they didnt know and would come back to me. I have been told the same thing everyday for 5 days, not a single member of the New york team know why i have been charged.

Atrocious Service (Everything WRONG with the service industry today)

By Shahab A |

I want to tell you why we will NEVER return to this god-forsaken place. Beyond the fact that the food is, at best, mediocre compared to Japanese restaurants with a similar price range, such as Nobu, they were the epitome of everything that is going wrong in the service and hospitality industry. I walked in wearing a beautiful embroidered Kaftan cape, and the "bouncer" followed me inside and asked me to take it off and give it to coat check because he considered it a "hoodie," and they have "a tightly enforced dress code." Fair. I'm not expecting him to grasp what a Kaftan is; otherwise, he would probably not be working in that position. BUT HERE'S WHAT TRULY TRIGGERED ME...If an establishment wants to enforce its rules, that's fair. HOWEVER, regulations must be enforced UNIFORMLY and not selectively. Two gentlemen were not adhering to the dress code; one was donning a beanie, and the other a baseball cap. Naturally, I pointed these out to the manager and asked her whether they would be asked to remove their hats, to which she responded, "No, we are not allowed to ask them to remove their hats." "Okay, what's the reason?" I asked. And her feeble response was, "I am not allowed to get into the details, but thank you for understanding." Seriously? I don't deserve an explanation at least. How ludicrous, and the audacity for her to tell me, "Thanks for understanding." No, I refused to "UNDERSTAND" but let it go because I was a little more civilized and did not want to make a big scene when the right thing to do was to apologize and allow me to wear my original outfit. Get off your moral high horse because the discriminatory enforcement of dress code policies is not a great look for you and your business.

Loud, but hip and chic

By 975manrey975 |

Drinks, food, presentation, decoration, interior design - all fine. However, the place is loud and crowded. So, if you are older than 60 or do not like music while having dinner, avoid this place. I enjoyed all of it - but then, I did not stay too long...

Very nice

By K T |

A Japanese fusion restaurant with great food & ambience in a contemporary setting and with superb service. A large variety of dishes.

It is not aligned with the experience that the Zuma brand provides

By Lella M |

We have been Zuma customers for years. We've been to Vegas, Miami, Rome, HK, Dubai... but we've never had a negative experience like NYC. The service isn't good, neither is the house itself... the food leaves something to be desired... I don't recommend it. It is not aligned with the experience that the Zuma brand provides.

Great Cocktails

By Anna |

My Negroni was amazing ! The quality of the drinks is outstanding at Zuma ! For this reason we adore Zuma, surely you will get the Best quality ! Highly recommend!

Dinner at the Bar.

By GoldnAdvice |

We did not have table reservation, the only available seat was at the bar so we took it. The restaurant is trendy, vibrant scene big and loud. Lots of birthday celebrations on that specific day. The food was very good. Sushi was fresh, and the best part of the evening was my mango dessert. The service was mediocre. I don't know if that's the case because we were seated at the bar or that is just the way this restaurant is. Our waiter was not attentive and did not have the patient for our questions. At some point we wanted to add another order and we just could not get his attention. Zuma is a fun restaurant to go as a family specially if some members do not like sushi because the menu is quite extensive and everybody can find something to eat. I give it my GoldnAdvice seal of approval.

Very good private dinner

By esandespdx |

I attended a private dinner for about 16 people. All the dishes were presented to be shared. From appetizer through dessert, they we well presented and tasty. Service was good, but a bit slapsdash. Our host was very pleases, which is an excellent sign when the bill is as big as it likely was.

Excellent venue

By Mago |

Very nice and well-kept place, friendly staff, quality food. Advice: be careful to the consumption of wine.... you arrive at an "important" final bill...... but we are in New York!

Club-like scene with great food

By KLF_1031 |

The place isn't necessarily my preferred vibe - it's a little clubby feeling. The food and service, though, is pretty great. All of the sushi, the dessert platter, the grilled fish... it's all good. I continue to go back for the food but the ambience isn't my favorite.

Classy-Chic Sushi….

By Claudia M |

Zuma has all the elements of a perfect restaurant: Great food, amazing service, and killer decor. The food was absolutely delicious, everything was tender, moist, and just perfect. Sushi was incredible and the sashimi divine. It is a bit expensive but, honestly the food is so delicious that it's well worth it. Can't wait to go back, plus I must say the ladies bathroom felt like a visit to the spa.

Great spot

By Mark |

I really enjoyed my dinner here Service at start was poor - we were made wait 20 minutes for our table Atmosphere was great, we went on a Tuesday and place was very buzzy. Food was very expensive but also worth it Would recommend trying it out Desert amazing !!

Japanese first

By Silvia L |

The restaurant is beautiful, very well decorated. The food is great. It is worth trying the lobster and bull roll. Good service. Service note 1,000. The first wine letter. We found better than the Dubai Zuma, which is also excellent.

Great seafood, sushi and decor

By steve b |

My wife, son and I went there for a sushi meal. Wow. Great ambiance and quite a plush surrounding. The food was excellent esp the sushi rolls we had, Truly great sushi and very fast service . We sat at the bar and had a great meal.

Nice food and drinks menu

By Edrian Woynarovski |

Maybe one of the best Japanese concepts in New-York, nice food, good drinks menu, waiters are very quick, high quality of rolls sushi and sushi, music good as well, highly recommend Zuma New-York

Great Food and atmosphere

By Schnidrig A |

When we arrived the waitress placed as to a table next to the Bar which we requested to change to have more privacy ! Our wish was immediately full filled and we got a nice table. Quality of food was outstanding same what we know from Dubai! Unfortunately our main course came I different Time and my wife finished her fish and my Steak medium-rare was not even at my place, but my side dishes was delivered together with the fish of my wife and excuse was that the steak are cooked in different kitchen! Overall dinner was very good

Excellent Sushi

By Laurent |

The Sushi were amazing. Service is great and kids find something they love. The Tempura prawns as well as Tempura vegetables are finger licking good.

Awful

By jenj0309 |

Absolutely terrible! The food was over cooked and cold and the manger was super aggressive and tried to blame us. She needs to be fired for her pathetic excuse for. Customer service. I’ll never go back here and suggest you try Nobu nstead!

Nice fusion sushi

By EarthGypsy |

Very trendy restaurant full of people I recommend to book in advance. If you like fusion Japanese sushi this is your place

Extra Ordinary Sushi Experience

By Plato5977 |

It was a somewhat chilly May evening in NYC. As soon as you step into Zuma, you have immediately warmed up the warmness and professionalism of the staff and the decor. I was early for my dinner meeting that was to held in one of their many private dining area I stopped by the bar on the second floor a scotch. After my scotch, I joined the dinner party for a very exceptional evening for some great wine and sushi. Zuma lives up to its reputation and exceeds it. Yes it is pricey but certainly worth it.

Great service great food

By Olia |

Went here for a last minute birthday dinner, the service was amazing as expected. We ordered the Omakase and didn’t know what to expect however we were pleasantly surprised by the various tastes of each dish. Really great if you want a casual dinner to celebrate an occasion.

Chic and delicious food :)

Repeat visit and again LOVED it!

By 142JanetH |

Found Zuma in 2017 when visiting New York City, so just HAD to go back again this year. It was so wonderful, went back not only once but twice! This restaurant has such a great vibe; helpful staff; that amazing decor; and of course wonderful food. Back in 2017 I found it loud but not this time. Not sure what they have done to change this but it was markedly different. Love the fact that this restaurant is busy no matter what night you choose and it stays open late. They have fresh wasabi, shipped in from Japan, which is grated on shark skin. What an amazing aroma! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Sensationally Subtle

Midtown Gem

By Ahmed Elshandawily |

This was my first visit to Zuma and it hopefully won't be the last. Our group was impressed by every aspect of the place, from decor and ambiance to the service and delicious food. The staff are extremely knowledgeable about the culinary offerings so definitely ask for their recommendations if you're confused over what to order. My own recommendations are the langoustine tempura and the octopus as appetizers. Then, if you are a meat lover, go for the ribeye which is succulent and flavorful. Leave room for dessert as it is not to be missed at Zuma. The pecan dessert (forget what it was called exactly) is my recommendation in that department.

Excellent Japanese Food

By Mark P |

This is a terrific Japanese restaurant in Midtown. I am not a fan of Japanese food, and yet I thought this was really good. The food and service were excellent, and the setting is quite nice.

Amazing vibe and selection of food

By Rula A |

Have been to this place in London and Dubai and NYC definitely measures up. I was a bit thrown off by the location but the space is great - high ceilings and windows. You walk in and there is a fun vibe. Music is playing and you can just have a drink at the bar or upstairs in the lounge and you’ll be happy. Sitting area is nice and open and food selection is excellent. Small plates to share from cooked fish to sushi. Everything was fresh and excellent. I’d definitely recommend and go again.

Short staff

By Gil S |

I visit Zuma quite often, and not only in NYC, but this visit definitely stood out, and not in a good way. At one point we stopped ordering food as it took so long and so many mistakes we just wanted to leave:( When I approached a manager, his answer was it’s probably the short staff, but it feels restaurants are recently using it as an excuse for their shortcomings. Zuma NYC isn’t on par with what it used to be, and not with London or Dubai. Hope I’m wrong and it’s indeed just staff issues, they were one of my favorite Asian restaurants in the city

Wonderful and tasty experience

By A_Gunnarsson |

Zuma was a great choice for our business dinner. Nice welcoming bar with excellent choice of tequilas for the ones that like this. Strong menu and for us, choosing the tasting menu, offering a range of delicious dishes. Nicely presented by a friendly staff that took time to answer questions and clarify. Strongly recommended for both private and business occasions!

Busy, trendy and generally good

By WorldTravellerFirst |

I was once upon a time a very regular diner at Zuma, in London and have followed, with interest their expansion ever since the first restaurant opened in Raphael Street in 2002 under the direction of Rainer Becker and Arjun Waney. This New York branch of Zuma is an elegant and worthy relation of the original, enshrining many of the core flavours that earned Zuma it's stripes. We booked a table on Saturday evening at 9:30. We were seated very shortly after 9:30, after a drink at the upstairs bar. We ate crispy fried calamari, yellowtail with roasted garlic and truffle oil, excellent ribs with cashew nuts, Black Cod, Giant Shrimp, and fried, assorted Dumplings all of which were very good indeed. With 4 cocktails each, my favourite of which was the Lychee and Rose Petal Martini, the bill for 2 was just under $430.00, excluding service, but, in fairness, we did eat a lot. The evening was partially ruined by the table seated under the canopy behind us who, despite reporting it to the Floor Manager, vaped throughout the evening, albeit, discreetly. It is my understanding that vaping is not permitted in public spaces in New York city and the restaurant should review its policy on dealing with those that ignore the law in plain sight of other diners who do not appreciate this practice at close quarters whilst dining.

Don’t go

By Piggies4 |

The front desk are so rude! The service is average, an issue occurred which was very underhand and the Manager, Noora was unhelpful almost verging on arrogant. Protected staff over clients. Be wary. London Zumq is wonderful, sadly New York Zuma feels like a chain with no care, miserable staff and a unpleasant undertone. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Another great experience

By Aldo M |

For the second year in a row we celebrated New Year's eve at Zuma. Another amazing experience, the food was amazing and the service was impecable. What a great place It is a no miss in your next visit to Manhattan

Worst restaurant in NY

By YEO |

The worst restaurant I’ve eaten in. Upon arrival our booking was messed up. Instead of an apology we received the worst attitude from the lady on the front desk. I believe her name was Elise or Lisa (dark hair, terrible attitude and looked utterly miserable to be doing her job.) Finally we were provided with a table. Food was not up to Zuma standard, tasteless and bland. My meal was served, 45 minutes after I had finished my partners meal was served. We have always eaten in a Zuma manly in Mykonos or Miami - NY Zuma is an utter disgrace. We wouldn’t return to a Zuma in any city after the service we received in NY.

Great atmosphere

By Traveleraroundthe |

Been to Zuma Dubai and wanted to try the one in New York as well , great vibe, nice people , reasonable prices , tasty dishes , all was on good level

High End, Excellent, Expensive

By John D |

First time visit - we ordered multiple plates (lobster miso soup, seabass, grilled scallops, miso chicken, spicy beef tenderloin, spicy yellowtail, and a peppers dish). Some favorites were the scallops, spicy beef, and miso chicken. Atmosphere is high end - good lighting and temperature, bathrooms contemporary and very clean, staff attractive and friendly, service was very good until paying the bill when the restaurant was very busy. Bill was quite high (50-50 split between 2 parties $223 each with tip).

Excellent Japanese

By Ricardo B |

We mentioned that is our anniversary And the service was wanderfull They give us a n amazing dessert as a gift of the chef All the plates were fantastic The sea bass was amazing

Solid but less good than London, Hong Kong, Dubai, Abu Dhabi

By Gilby |

Beautiful place with a good vibe. The food is good and has all the zuma classics. The service was professional and friendly. It is very good but just a touch under the other Zuma locations I have visited. Sushi is average, black cod remains a star, steaks very good and generous.

Beautiful evening!!!

By Mr. X |

Always a guarantee. Zuma New York I think is one of the greatest Zumas I've ever seen. Superb location on two floors, lovely and very kind staff treated us very well. The food is always as good as their cocktails. Too bad there isn't one of My Saves, Iberian (I think for religious reasons). Beautiful private rooms and speakeasy room. Highly recommended for a beautiful evening in NY.

Pleasant , chic , but not wow

By basel T |

This is a chic upscale gastro bar for seeing and to be seen . It has opened in gateway cities , NYC , Dubai , London etc . The menu has sushi and sole global during meals . Pricey as expected in mannhattan but quality food and drinks .

Loved

By dimitragkreki |

Loved the food. It has excellent food quality and very tasty and nice plates. The service is excellent!! Highly recommended if you are looking for a nice restaurant to spend the night with your friends, family or partner. Although I was cold because of the a/c all the night, the food was excellent. Very testy and unique.

Extremely crouded an noisy

By Andrei R |

If you wish to have a quiet dinner for shure this is not the place. The food and services are at a maximum average level. If you like Japanese food go somewhere else.

Always the best!

By gigantka |

Visited Zuma again yesterday evening and had an absolutely fabulous meal. Everything was so tasty and perfectly presented. All the staff were pleasant and professional. It’s a nice change to come across well trained staff, from the door staff to the waiting staff, they were efficient but not intrusive. I’m looking forward to my next visit. Well done Zuma!

Busy, good food and great atmosphere

By CleoStockholm |

People watching with good food - the transition from this known London restaurant to New York has succeeded it fits in well in the New York scene recommended

1hour waiting but it was worth it!

By Enrico&Laura |

We had a reservation at 20.15, the table was not ready so we sit at the bar, after 30minutes a waitress came to us to apologize for the delay. At the end we sit at 21.10 and another waitress apologize again for the delay and offered a drink to each other. We order: Maki (really good) Chef's nigiri excellent choice of fish, (spectacular tuna!) Tempura shirmp was excellent. The drinks at the bar was very very expensive (12 dollars for a glass of wine) but the food prices were right

Zuma style food

By gautamkhanna The big boss |

Ambience was too good food is that u praise as much u can and it is short for them Nice Decor and taste of good is a class splly cod fish and baby chicken

mehh, it's no Zuma Miami

By www.DinedThereSippedThat.com |

Huge fans of Zuma Miami we decided to have dinner at Zuma NYC after the US Open tennis tournament a few weeks ago. Nice "Zuma" interior, friendly staff didn't mind re-seating us and explaining the menu, but there was just a little something missing, not sure what it was. Its a great location with a great upstairs bar and rooms for private event, but again. Can't quite figure out what was lacking. It seems as though trendy high end franchise restaurants come to NYC and just get lost in the sea of everything else that's so great.

Fun business dinner

By Alberto E |

All is grandiose in this place, the location, the reception, the bar, the food. Excellent choice for a great dinner and great atmosphere. There are different areas to sit and eat and they offer different atmospeheres, but all great. The open kitchen makes it great for the show of how they prepare different dishes. The menu was fantastic form begining to end, with great surprises in flavors and presentation of the dishes. All the people are very attentive, but if you arrive without reservation you have to keep an eye on the siting list or you could be pushed down the list.

Meh

By Luis G |

I’ve been in Zuma’s jn Dubai, Madrid and last time I was in Zuma NYC was a couple of years ago. Dinner with wife and kids (14 and 10), just the comments of my kids that there are better restaurants in Lisbon or Madrid says it all! It’s not that it was bad… but wasn’t great, on top of the cost was a solid… 3 stars!

Mixed feellings

By FrancisLovesTravel |

Great ambience, but inconsistent dining experience every time I visit. Sit down dinners have left me dubious. However, a couple of times I have just sat at the bar and shared appetizers / small plates and that has been great, delicious, and totally worth it. Go figure!

Good food and vibes

By CM187822 |

The setting in this restaurant is gorgeous, there’s plenty of food and drink choices. Everything we were recommended and tried was delicious, we were served by a very friendly and professional server(can’t remember his name sorry) he said he was from Poland, he made our experience a lot more enjoyable by taking time to make conversation, talking us through the menu and making recommendations. Would return

No place like it

By Shingai Sharon M |

My boss recommended we try the food at Zuma. Wow it was surely a treat. The beef is to die for. Can’t pronounce half of the things I ate but all I know is that each bite was magical. I highly recommend it for anyone traveling to New York. The guy who waited on our table was friendly and polite and took time to explain the menu. I do think though the reception staff can do better particularly for first time customers. A little more curtesy and politeness could go a long way.....☺️. My 5 star rating is definitely for the food. All else doesn’t really matter that much for me.

trendy scene

By Gurleen |

One of my absolute most favorite restaurants in Manhattan. Every bite you eat is excellent. They have some of the best cocktails, my favs are Lychee Rose martini and Burning History, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is amazing and the place is beautiful. Definitely order the dessert thats not on the menu, its the Zuma special dessert. Outstanding overall. @traveleen_gurl

Good vibe and foos

By Rula A |

Fun place in a group or for couples. Greay vibe and music. Ambiance is fun. Good is great too. Menu is extensive from sushi or baked cod to salads. Great Japanese and more. Bar scene is also fun if you can’t get a table right away but best to reserve In advance. Staff and management are nice and knowledgeable.

Great place for a fancy meal out

Really enjoyed this - fun, glam, a great place to get dressed up and head out for a fancy meal at. We loved the sushi, and the dessert - the chocolate soufle was incredible. The staff are fun and friendly and seem like they enjoy working there which reflects in the service. The decor is cool. This is a very Kardashian style night out - which is great!!!

Horrie Service

When I'm stuck waiting 45 minutes for my reservation with my work guests visiting NY for the first time it's embarrassing and puts me in a bad situation. When both the upstairs and downstairs hosts don't give 2 💩 that we're waiting over 45 minutes for my table it makes it even worse. And when my pregnant wife is stuck standing for 45 minutes it just pisses me off. If you can't honor a reservation, don't accept the reservation in the first place. I will most likely never be coming back...

Extremely disappointing staff

Not a welcoming staff. Very rude security. Waitresses are not pleasant and welcoming. Food quality is not as good as other Zuma (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Miami, Doha, Roma and Turkey) Management do not give the right attention on Cisneros complaints.

Ridiculously Good

I had my birthday dinner here and they have creative cocktails, attentive bartenders, sexy decor, and AMAZING sushi. They have a special private room that overlooks the entire restaurant. I highly recommend it. Apparently they have a bottomless brunch which serves the same amazing food but with champagne flowing - how can that be bad? I'll be going back for sure.

Zuma service is pathetic and the food average. Overall a waste of money

We arrived at 9.30 for our reservation at 9.30. The rude hostess called Ning told us to wait as they were setting up the the table. After 5 minutes of waiting at the reception area I requested her to move us to a place where we could stand instead of standing at the reception. She refused. To my utter shock and horror a couple of minutes she came up to me and rudely told me that we would have to move as we were blocking the entrance. I was aghast that she had the audacity to say that and speak in such an offensive tone. I called her manager who she said she was a trainee. I told her I would make her famous which I am doing. Such poorly trained staff ruin a restaurant and that is what Zuma is doing. We will never be visiting again. They then gave us a table next to the bar where we couldn’t speak due to the loud music. We were then moved to a table where we ate our meal. The food was ok and nothing in comparison to Zuma dubai. Overall a waste of money !

Relaxing atmosphere

Zuma New York is an extraordinary dining destination that impresses from the moment you step inside. The restaurant has multiple beautifully decorated rooms, on first and second floor. The culinary offerings are outstanding, with fresh sushi and tender beef, just to mention two, that melt in your mouth. The dessert platter, featuring a mix of delectable treats, is the perfect finale to a memorable meal. A minor issue occurred during dinner: the staff forgot my water order, requiring me to repeat it. Even after the second request, the water arrived late. Besides this, Zuma New York offers a feast for the senses with its stunning decor and delicious food. Even the bathroom is a serene, zen-like retreat, enhancing the overall experience.

I have been to Zuma a number of times and their food never fails to impress me. As had the Omakase tasting menu and it’s great value for money. 10-13 courses from sashimi, the lobster bites, sushi, trufffle with wagyu to their stunning desserts. Our must-do stop in NYC!
