Thousands of people come here every day to buy tribute candies as gifts. The wide variety of candies here, all unique to Quanzhou, is packaged in small, easy-to-carry packets. The most popular item is peanut candy, said to have been presented as tribute to the emperor. It's crispy and crunchy, with a rich peanut aroma. They also sell malt candy, almond candy, and other sweets, perfect with Quanzhou Tieguanyin tea.

Most of the used bookstores on West Street lack distinctive signs, sometimes simply the words "old books" stenciled on a piece of cardboard. This bookstore, however, is located across from Kaiyuan Temple. The entire room is filled with yellow-paper books, and the wooden bench at the entrance is also stacked with thick, old books. Many of the books have worn edges and corners, yet they are still filled with the fragrance of books.
