It was almost 7 o'clock when we climbed up the mountain. On the way up, I could turn back and take pictures of Xinduqiao, which was beautiful, but we went late and the light wasn't very good. Xinduqiao is only a little over 3,600 meters above sea level, so I climbed quickly, thinking it was nothing special. But when I reached the observation deck, I got altitude sickness and sat there for several minutes before I realized what was happening. So I had to climb slowly. The entrance fee to the observation deck was 10 yuan (they said it was a garbage collection fee). The ticket office looked simple, but they actually gave me the ticket. At first, I thought it was a volunteer collection by the villagers. There wasn't much trash on the mountain. The observation deck has a telescope, and on a clear day with no cloud cover, you can see Gongga Snow Mountain without a telescope. Further up, you'll find a wide grassland ridge, perfect for taking photos. The wind can be strong on the mountain, so bring a light jacket or scarf.
If there is a negative score, I will give it a negative score!!!
The snow-capped mountains are very far away, and ordinary cameras can’t capture the effect at all. They are not as good as the snow-capped mountains I took casually on the road.
People, poor mountains and bad waters produce unruly people! Don’t ask me why I say such harsh words. When we were going down the mountain, we saw a horse carrying a little boy suddenly go crazy, throw the little boy away and run down the mountain. The little boy almost fell off the cliff. We were all stunned at the time! The man in brown clothes and leading the horse in the second picture asked the grandmother with the little boy to pay. The three men around couldn’t stand it anymore and asked him to check his conscience and see if he was embarrassed to charge. The man finally threatened the grandmother holding the little boy, saying, "If you have the guts, don’t go down the mountain. Stay here today. If you go down the mountain, you have to pay me!"
There was a kid in my group who charged 50 yuan for horseback riding. I just looked up the comments and saw some were charging 30, some 100, haha. Some people were charged 20 yuan per person for the so-called garbage disposal fee! (I just saw the comments of previous netizens, I'm afraid this is really just a local area to collect money)
I was a coward and shouted at the scumbag in the second grade, "It's a relief that they didn't ask you for compensation." He threatened me, and I was afraid of being beaten by the villagers, so I didn't dare to continue speaking out for the little boy. However, I hope that people who see this comment will stop "contributing" to some evil people!
It took us three hours to reach the destination. When we were climbing up, we could see the snow-capped mountains, which were obscured by clouds. After a while, the sky became overcast and it started snowing.
Gongga Snow Mountain Observation Deck....good and worth recommending
Daocheng Yading has beautiful scenery all the way, welcome friends from afar to travel
Mount Gongga, located south of Kangding, Sichuan Province, is the main peak of the Great Snow Mountain Range. Surrounded by 45 peaks exceeding 6,000 meters, the main peak towers above them at 7,556 meters, earning it the nickname "King of Sichuan Mountains." From the Gongga Snow Mountain Observation Deck, gaze upon the vast expanse of snowy expanse below. The expansive views and the sense of accomplishment engendered by the mountain's height are truly worth the climb.
If you stay overnight in Xinduqiao, you might as well take some blockbuster photos to go viral on your friends' circle.
This place is actually just famous. When you look at Gongga, you can only see the top of the mountain. When you watch the sunrise, the sun is bright. It is a good place to overlook the autumn scenery of Xinduqiao.
The Gongga Observation Deck in Xinduqiao is generally decent, though a telephoto lens might offer better photos. The view from afar reveals the majestic and imposing King of Shu Mountain. The viewing platform is located on a small hill about 100 meters above sea level, with a pavilion. However, I personally prefer to hike up the mountain to take photos from a higher point. The entrance fee is 10 yuan, suggesting this isn't a formal scenic spot, but rather a collection of locals charging a fee to claim the area. Since it's located next to Crossroads 318, there's no parking available. Parking at a roadside hotel costs 10 yuan per car. I recommend avoiding random parking, both for the extra 10 yuan and for safety reasons. Horseback riders are available at the foot of the mountain for you to ride up, but it really depends on your preference!
The viewing platform is on the mountain and can be reached by horseback. At the foot of the mountain, there were many tethered horses, looking rather dejected. Since the viewing platform was so close, I decided against riding. Although it was only a small hill, the climb was exhausting and breathtaking. The weather was bad, and while I could vaguely see the edges of Mount Gongga at first, it was completely invisible later, let alone the "Golden Mountain in the Sunlight." However, from the mountain, I could overlook the entire Waze Township, and here I gained a deeper understanding of the term "basin."
The viewpoint is easy to climb. I jogged up and it was a relief to travel light. The view from the top is amazing.
The ticket is 10 yuan, which is euphemistically called the garbage removal fee. There is a big mountain in the middle, and you can only see the tiny peak of Mount Gongga. Is the 10 yuan ticket worth it?
The Gongga Snow Mountain Observation Deck is located on Route 318 towards Xinduqiao, probably in Waze Township. Signs are clearly visible. The small house on the roadside where the toll booths are located isn't far from the observation deck, but cars can't drive up there. I tried to drive closer, but was stopped and told to park in the adjacent parking lot. I turned back to Route 318 and found a spot to park. There's a 10 yuan garbage collection fee for the observation deck, and the entrance ticket says "Culi Temple." There's indeed a small temple at the top of the platform, but on my way back to the hotel after visiting the observation deck, I saw a sign pointing in the other direction. Could it be that the temple above isn't called "Culi Temple," but is simply under its management? There were quite a few people, but they were all taking photos at the top, gazing out at Gongga Mountain. The small temple felt quite quiet and peaceful. The sky was very cloudy, and with the sun setting, the angle of the sun was low. The mountains on the opposite side were mostly in shadow, but the six-syllable mantra was bathed in golden light by the sunlight filtering through the gaps in the clouds! Well, I came to the Gongga Snow Mountain Observation Deck, where the snow-capped mountains lifted a little bit of their mysterious veil, and it was a beautiful sight!
There are Tibetans with horses on the road, and you can choose to ride up the mountain for 50 yuan per person. The scenery on the viewing platform is very good. Only a small tip of Gongga Snow Mountain is exposed, and it is not clear, but you can see the whole picture of Xinduqiao from here. The hills have soft lines and the light and shadow overlap, which is really beautiful.
The Tibetan friends here are very welcoming. When I came down from the mountain, an old man asked me if it was nice up there. Several older brothers also shouted at me with smiles: "Tashi Delek!"
There's a roadside sign announcing a 10 yuan sanitation fee per person (payable via WeChat). Parking in the courtyard at the intersection also costs another 10 yuan. There's a pavilion on a small hill, but the climb is a bit challenging due to the high waves. Horseback riding is available at the foot of the hill for 50 yuan per person, negotiable. We felt like a challenge, so we hiked up the hill. The weather was clear, but there was a single cloud on the snowy mountain. We waited for half an hour but didn't see any, which was a shame.
The viewing platform in Waze Township is a small hill. It is quite strenuous to climb to the top. You can walk and rest. It takes about 30 minutes if you walk slowly. The main thing is to be careful not to get altitude sickness. Of course, you can also go up on horseback.
It was already 7pm when we arrived. Had we gone earlier, the village below would have been even more beautiful. Of course, we went at dusk in autumn, when the cypress and poplar trees below were ablaze with golden yellow, for a truly breathtaking sight. The mountain was still snow-white, its fully exposed peak forming a beautiful pyramidal shape. The towering snow was as cool and refreshing as ice cream.
As the sun moves, the mountain gradually turns from white to warm, but the golden glow lasts only a fleeting two or three minutes. As the last rays of dusk fade, the mountaintop becomes a tinge of pink, and the sky brightens even slightly. But before long, darkness descends. Hurry down before you lose sight of the path.
The scenery is good, but the view is average. Gongga Snow Mountain can be seen in a gap between the mountains. It is great to see the starry sky.
From the viewing platform, you can see the golden mountain in the sun, which is Gongga Snow Mountain. Even after walking hundreds of kilometers, you can still see Gongga from afar.
The entrance fee is 10 yuan per person (parking is available here). We parked at the parking lot at the foot of the mountain and were charged another 10 yuan. It seems like people here are quite arbitrary with their fees. If you drive, you must drive up to a spot where cars can't be driven and then park. That's where the entrance fee is. Seriously, if I hadn't driven, I wouldn't have seen such a beautiful view. Every photo I took was a masterpiece. We were lucky enough to see a rainbow while we were taking photos. I heard that if you're lucky, you can see the stars at night. Several people carrying their equipment ate while waiting. However, it was too cold on the mountain and we weren't well prepared, so we gave up. We descended the hill and found a small restaurant to end the day.
The viewing platform is on a small hill. There is a 10 yuan entrance fee. There are horses on the road, so there is a lot of horse manure on the ground, which is very dirty. Although it is not high, it is still hard to walk up, so only the four of us went up.
The view from above is very wide. You can see the main peak of Gongga Mountain in the distance, and the sharp snow peak. It is too far away and I don’t feel anything. On the contrary, the nearby woods and meadows are quite beautiful.
The fee is 10 yuan. The view is very far away from Gongga. If you want to see the peak, you have to rely on luck.
I waited at the viewing platform for almost an hour, but still couldn't get a clear picture of the snow-capped mountain peak.
The four of us felt that our tour guide Kang was very dedicated to his work, and we are very grateful!
It is also a good idea to pass by Kangding...
You can see Gongga Snow Mountain in the distance, but it is a bit far and you can't appreciate the magnificence of Gongga Mountain. If you want to get close to Gongga, Hailuogou is the best choice. The viewing platform overlooks the entire Waze Township and Xinduqiao Town, which is pretty good. It should be beautiful in autumn.
The environmental protection fee collected by villagers is 10
Best time to take photos: sunset. If you are lucky, you can see red clouds and golden mountains in the sun.
It's okay to go to a high point and look at the view for ten yuan if the weather is good.
The Xinduqiao Gongga Snow Mountain Observation Deck is a well-known viewing platform on National Highway 318. From this hillside, you can see the main peak of Gongga Mountain and take photos of the light and shadow of Xinduqiao. There are many inns nearby, making it convenient to get up early to watch the sun shine on the golden mountain. When we passed by, the weather was not very good.
Driving uphill from Kangding, you often have to push the accelerator to the bottom to get only 30 yards per hour; the trucks carrying goods to the Tibetan area can only drive more than 20 kilometers. We don't have rain or snow here, so you can imagine how difficult this road is in autumn and winter.
Whether you can see the snow-capped mountains depends entirely on luck. The weather was not very good on the day I climbed up, so I didn’t see it, but the scenery up there was still very nice.
A must-visit for anyone visiting Xinduqiao is the Gongga Snow Mountain Observation Deck! It's the best spot in Xinduqiao for viewing Mount Gongga. The summit is low, so you can hike up or ride a Tibetan horse. The deck is spacious, allowing me to run around freely. If I'm lucky, I can see the golden glow of Mount Gongga, while also overlooking the town of Xinduqiao. Watching the sunset in the afternoon or waking up early to watch the sunrise is a truly wonderful experience.
At Guanjing Pass, I got a serious case of altitude sickness. The sunset over Jinshan Mountain was absolutely stunning, but the wind was so strong that I absolutely had to wear a hat and windproof clothing. The road was poor and the sand was very strong.
Gongga Snow Mountain is a sacred mountain. I climbed to the very bottom of the viewing platform and was already out of breath. The timing was wrong and I didn’t see Gongga. But the scenery was so good.
The light and shadows there are truly unobstructed, but if you want to see Mount Gongga, you're pretty lucky. We didn't see it when we went there, and two northern friends we met burned two sticks of incense at the hotel that morning, but still didn't see it when they got to the viewing platform, and they waited for three hours. Hahaha!
Tickets to the Gongga Observation Deck, the only paid attraction in Yingguanzhai, cost 10 yuan. Climbing to the less than 100-meter-high platform, you'll surely recall the breathless agony of climbing halfway up the mountain late at night. Fortunately, the view from the summit will delight you, but your exclamations will be rewarded with a wave of dizziness rising to your head.
I was very lucky to see the red clouds of Gongga Snow Mountain when I first came to Xinduqiao. The weather was beautiful and Xinduqiao was really beautiful and peaceful in the morning light.
Standing on the top of the mountain, you can overlook the whole picture of Xinduqiao town and see Gongga Snow Mountain in the distance. The most important thing is to see the sight of the golden mountain in the sun.
It's actually just a small peak. If you prefer not to walk, you can take a horseback ride up from the base for 50 yuan, or 80 yuan round trip. Oh, and there's a 10 yuan entrance fee per person for the viewpoint. There's a pavilion halfway up the mountain, but the summit is just plain green grass, colorful flags, and mani stones—nothing special. From the summit, you can overlook the entire town of Xinduqiao. Of course, most people come with their tripods to photograph the Golden Mountain in the Rising Sun! (On a clear day, around 6:30 PM, the setting sun casts its last rays on the snow-capped peaks of Mount Gongga, making this the photographer's dream.)
It is worth stopping here to take a look. After all, the view from afar is Gongga Snow Mountain, the king of Shu Mountains.
Of course, photography enthusiasts with good conditions can take pictures of the Golden Mountain in the sun here.
The Xinduqiao Gongga Snow Mountain Observation Deck is located in Yingguan, Xinduqiao Town, Kangding County, Sichuan Province. The entrance fee is 10 yuan. The scenery is indeed beautiful.
On the afternoon of August 1st, we returned to Xinduqiao Town from Tagong Grassland. It was still early, so we decided to hike an unnamed mountain near our hotel. We began our ascent at 6:20 PM and reached a cluster of prayer flags halfway up the mountain around 7:00 PM. A dozen steps further, we crossed a small slope, and suddenly, a vast expanse of snow-white peaks in the distance came into view! I knew it was Mount Gongga (crying)(crying)(crying)!!! At that moment, I couldn't hold back my tears; they welled up in my eyes (shy)(shy)(shy)!
Afterwards, we practically jogged all the way to the top! It took us 40 minutes to get halfway up the mountain, but only 10 minutes to get to the summit! It's amazing how much human potential is unlocked (laughs)(laughs)(laughs)!
Around 19:50, the main peak gradually became clear! Gongga, I finally see you!
It was not until 20:30, when it was almost completely dark, that I finally went down the mountain with satisfaction (ghost face)(ghost face)(ghost face)
Borrowing a comment from a netizen:
As we reached the Yaha Pass, the massive figure of the King of Mountains suddenly loomed over us from the car window at a turn, a shocking sight that caught us off guard! Only then did we grasp the true meaning of the King of Mountains. His overwhelming presence and disdainful gaze forced everyone standing there to examine their own weight in the universe. This is the mighty Gongga, and its irreplaceable, captivating charm!
The second of the ten most beautiful mountains in China, the King of Sichuan Mountains - Gongga, where the wind stops!
"One year, one watch; one life, one Gongga!"
Every time I went there, I was never able to see the snow-capped mountains, so I could only take some photos of the autumn scenery.
Waiting for the sunset here, waiting for the sun to shine on the golden mountain
The Gongga Snow Mountain that we saw in the evening was so beautiful. We were lucky.
Xinduqiao is indeed a beautiful place. There will definitely be a rainbow after it rains, and it will be very big!
Sichuan's highest peak is truly breathtaking! Especially when you stand at Zimei Pass and watch the majestic snow-capped mountains clear of clouds and mist.
If the weather is good, you can watch the sunrise and see the entire Xinduqiao.
It's pretty good. Parking is free here. I highly recommend the dried beef jerky here.
Xinduqiao was really beautiful in 2012. There weren't that many inns back then. Unfortunately, when I went back in October 2015, everything had changed. Inns were everywhere, and it was hard to find a photographer's paradise. The whole town was smoky and chaotic.
The Gongga Snow Mountain Observation Deck is located just off National Highway 318, inside Xinduqiao Town. A large sign indicates the location, making it easy to find. Driving can park at the parking lot at the foot of the mountain for 10 yuan per car. The observation deck is located on a small, slightly steep hill, accessible by foot. Those less physically fit can opt for horseback riding. There's a 10 yuan per person environmental protection fee to enter the deck. Personally, I didn't find the Gongga Snow Mountain Observation Deck very interesting. It's too far from the mountain itself, and I could only see a sliver of the peak, not a single glimpse of its majestic spire.
From the parking lot to the observation deck, you have to climb a small hill. Horseback riding is available, but it costs 50 yuan, which is not worth it. The horses can't reach the top, but climbing at an altitude of 3,500 to 3,600 meters is still quite demanding. The view from the observation deck is quite beautiful, though, especially in the evening, when the rosy clouds cast a layered, vibrant light, and the play of light and shadow paints Xinduqiao Town like a painting—a breathtaking sight. Mount Gongga is quite far away, so the view isn't very clear. Zimei Pass is the best vantage point for viewing the Gongga Snow Mountain.
The viewing platform is on a mountain beside the road. You need to pay a 10 yuan "garbage cleaning fee". The mountain is a bit steep. There are horses for rent at the foot of the mountain. Looking at Gongga Mountain from here, I feel that it is not as beautiful as Gaolusi Mountain and Zimei Pass.
Mount Gongga, located south of Kangding City in Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, is the main peak of the Great Snow Mountain. Reaching 7,556 meters above sea level, it is known as the "King of Sichuan Mountains." Surrounding the peak are 45 glacial peaks rising over 6,000 meters, creating a majestic spectacle of clustered peaks and interconnected snow-capped mountains. Within Mount Gongga, glacial lakes are dotted throughout, some at the foot of glaciers and others surrounded by forests, preserving its pristine and beautiful natural landscape, resembling a "Yaochi fairyland."
This is a great place to watch the sunrise. Unfortunately, I'm so lazy and afraid of the cold, I waited until the sun was basking in the sun before going up. By the time I got up, everyone had already come down... Actually, I live closest to the viewpoint, and the viewing platform is right behind my inn o(╯□╰)o. But it was so cold. Since I'd already seen the sunrise at Meili Snow Mountain, I didn't get up to watch it. I regret it. After all, the scenery is different in different places, so don't be lazy like me O(∩_∩)O~
I heard that I could see Gongga Snow Mountain, so I went up on horseback. It was very difficult to walk. It cost 50 yuan for a one-way trip to a small hill, and 10 yuan for garbage removal. There was no beautiful view, so I was disappointed.
The scenery is first-class. You can see the sunset, the clouds, the rainbow, and the silhouettes are also great.
It costs 10 yuan to go up, and you can also go up on horseback. It is quite steep, but definitely not high, and it only takes one minute to get up.
In fact, you can see Gongga Snow Mountain on the road in Xinduqiao, on the top floor of the residential building, and on the hillside. Especially the several large hillsides behind Xinduqiao Town. Climbing up, you can see the golden sunset of Gongga Snow Mountain (the golden sunrise is on the back and difficult to see). This is really a good place to see the golden mountain!
Looking at the Gongga Snow Mountain from afar, there are endless beautiful views along the way.
Near the inn, there's a second viewing platform for Mount Gongga Snow Mountain. Excited to see the snow-capped mountain, we dropped our luggage and rushed over. Unfortunately, Mount Gongga was shrouded in a massive cloud, denying us its snowy white face. The viewing platform is located in a corner of the mountain, requiring a short climb. Entry also requires a ten-yuan garbage collection fee per person (the equivalent of the entrance fee).
There are many small yellow flowers on the top of the mountain, blooming luxuriantly, which contrast with the prayer flags not far away, which is very wild and interesting.
The Xinduqiao Gongga Snow Mountain Observation Deck is a great place to view Gongga Snow Mountain in Xinduqiao. Even if you are unlucky and cannot see the snow mountain, you can still have a panoramic view of the beautiful rural scenery of the entire Xinduqiao.
Overcoming high altitude and climbing mountains is not an easy task, but standing higher, I can see farther and see more beautiful things. I am a little closer to the sky.
This viewing platform is quite far from the foot of Mount Gongga, and it takes more than an hour to drive there. People usually visit Xinduqiao and stop by to see it. It's a 10-minute drive from a small gap in National Highway 318. When the weather is good, you can see the top of Mount Gongga from the distant mountains. When the weather is bad, you can't see anything. But being far away also has its advantages, and the prospects are very rich. The viewing platform is located at a relatively high position. In summer, the village at the foot of the mountain is green. In autumn, when the barley is ripe, patches of yellow will be interspersed among the green. The green grasslands and mountain peaks stretch into the distance, and the blue sky and white clouds are overhead. It is beautiful. There are no public toilets, no restaurants, and no gas stations here. There is only a Tibetan manor nearby, and cars can drive up directly. There are relatively few people, so it is still very pleasant.
I never imagined I could see Mount Gongga Snow Mountain from Xinduqiao. The viewing platform is located on a small hillside off National Highway 318 in Waze Township, near Xinduqiao Town. Parking at the bottom of the hill costs 10 yuan. Some people park on the roadside for free, and it's only a few steps away, which is a great way to save money. The viewing platform isn't high, and it takes a leisurely 15-20 minute walk to get there. Since Xinduqiao is 3,300 meters above sea level, the climb can be quite tiring. I went there twice, once on foot and once on horseback. There were many Tibetans at the bottom of the hill offering horseback rides. The fee was 50 yuan per person. I initially didn't want to ride, but a Tibetan offered 40 yuan, so I rode up. Mount Gongga Snow Mountain is quite far from the viewing platform, and I could only see a small peak. Fortunately, I was able to see it both times. However, when there are clouds, you have to wait. You can see it when the clouds pass, but you can't see it again when the clouds return. A tour guide led a group up the mountain, and he said you have to be lucky to see the snow-capped mountains from here.
Apparently, we were very lucky! Standing on the pavilion, the distant Mount Gongga suddenly appeared before our eyes without a single obstruction.
Taking the 318 Sichuan-Tibet Highway, listening to songs and looking at the colorful autumn scenery outside Sichuan, and standing at the viewing platform of the famous Sichuan-Tibet Nine Bends and Eighteen Turns and the King of Sichuan Mountains, Gongga Snow Mountain, how happy it is.
Cars can only be parked at the foot of the mountain, and you have to walk to the top of the mountain, which takes about twenty minutes.
The weather was not very good that day, so I didn’t get a satisfactory sunrise photo, but the top of the mountain was still very beautiful.
There are no stairs to climb the mountain, all are dirt roads. Although the distance is short, it is still very tiring to climb because it is a plateau. However, with the longing for the King of Mountains, I still rushed straight up all the way. The photos are indeed very clear. Because it is close to sunset, there is the effect of the sun shining on the golden mountain.
That evening, we went to the viewing point to see Mount Gongga. The mountain is about 100 meters high and can be reached by horseback or on foot. The altitude is already 3,000 meters, so while the climb isn't that high, it's still quite strenuous. We reached the summit, taking a break every three steps and stopping every two. To see the sunset over Gongga, the weather must be right. That day, due to thick cloud, we couldn't see the summit.
"Zheduo Mountain Snow Viewing Platform" is "Zheduo Mountain Pass". It is a viewing platform with a large parking lot, food for sale, and specialty products for sale. The barbecue skewers were delicious, but I didn't taste them because of stomachache. I hated it so much. I swear, I will never eat so much chili in the future!
There is a landmark tall stone tablet on the platform with four big characters "West out of Zheduo" written on it, symbolizing that Zheduo Mountain is the dividing line between Han and Tibetan cultures. After passing Kangding and crossing Zheduo Mountain, you will officially enter the Kham Tibetan area.
"West": all the way west.
"Out": walk out of the plains and officially enter the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in the true sense.
