Moxi Ancient Town is located in the south of Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, on the east slope of Gongga Mountain Scenic Area and at the entrance of Hailuogou Glacier Forest Park. It belongs to the outer protection zone of Hailuogou Scenic Area and is the tourist reception base and entrance of Hailuogou Scenic Area. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from Moxi Town to Hailuogou. Moxi Town is about 304 kilometers away from Chengdu, 52 kilometers away from Luding, and about 70 kilometers away from Kangding. The road from Moxi to Kangding has been built. After visiting Hailuogou, you can go directly to Kangding to visit the famous plateau city.
Moxi Ancient Town has a long history. Despite the vicissitudes of time, people can still glimpse its long history from its many ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The ancient buildings still retain their solemnity. In Moxi Town, there are still preserved the Catholic Church built by the French and the camp where Mao Zedong and other central leaders led the Red Army in 1935. There is also a Gothic church built by French missionaries, and the prayer bells from it have echoed for a century.
Go north along the old street of Moshi Town and cross the intersection of Hengzhi Street for 200 meters. There is a Guanyin Temple on the right side of the road. In the small temple there is an ancient fir tree that is 1,800 years old. It is very popular here and you can go and see it if you have time.

The ancient town is not big, with only one old street of Baiyumi. You can visit all of Moshi in less than half an hour by walking and stopping here and there.
There are many interesting gadgets on the streets of the ancient town. You can stop and walk slowly to appreciate them. It is a leisurely lifestyle different from the hustle and bustle of the city.
There are charcoal-roasted potatoes on the street. You can peel the roasted potatoes and eat them directly, or sprinkle a pinch of dried chili powder on them to best taste the softness and sweetness of the potatoes themselves. This is also a snack that is deeply loved by tourists, perhaps the only one!
I had planned to take some photos of the ancient city at night, but I really wasn’t in the mood.
Ancient cities across the country are all made from the same mold: cobblestone roads, red lanterns, street shops, bars that use chance encounters and romantic encounters as gimmicks...
Now I have lost interest in this kind of ancient town scenery. What should I do in the future? Perhaps only natural scenery such as plateaus and snow-capped mountains are worth exploring.
The first day is considered the adjustment and transition period of the trip. The attractions are quite standard. As we all know, the beautiful scenery of western Sichuan is about to officially begin.
The shuttle bus from Chengdu to Moshi took more than 5 hours. The ancient town is not big, but it has a complete set of banks, restaurants, accommodation, pharmacies, supermarkets, etc. The old street is very flavorful, and the bluestone road is simple and honest. There are many distinctive folk music bars and shops selling local specialty ox horn combs around both sides of the Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings. The Catholic Church is also located down the old street. There are performances at the Changzheng Hotel in the evening. There are many talented Tibetans. The young man sings deeply and the beautiful women dance vigorously! The super primitive Moshi roast chicken is very flavorful. I heard that yak yogurt is also delicious😋 It’s a pity that I didn’t try it
I recommend only one bar in the ancient street! The name is arbitrary and the slogan is shocking. The main thing is that the boss is super nice! I said it was cold outside, so he warmed me up by the fire and heated up the water. I sat down and listened to the music to relax. It's really the best to feel the slow pace of life 😜
We woke up in the quiet ancient town of Moxi. After the rain, the mountains were misty and you could see snow-capped mountains if you were lucky. After breakfast, we strolled along the streets lined with wooden houses and the mountains at the end of the streets. My brother said that this place was very similar to the scene in Spirited Away, especially under the light last night.
Moshi Ancient Town is an ancient town with historical and cultural heritage. It is 1,580 meters above sea level and is the place where many people who come to Hailuogou will choose to stay. It was once an important town on the Ancient Tea Horse Road, connecting important goods transactions in the Han and Tibetan regions, and was also a place for horse caravans and salt caravans traveling between Sichuan and Tibet to rest and stay.
We arrived at Moshi Town a little late last night, so we didn't have time to enjoy the scenery of the town. This morning, we finally had the opportunity to enjoy the ancient town while having breakfast. Compared with yesterday, the weather today was really bad, with overcast skies and drizzling rain. It was said that nothing could be seen on the mountain now, let alone the distant view of Gongga Snow Mountain. We decided to stay in the town for a while to see if the weather would improve.
Moxi Ancient Town is actually a transit town at the entrance of Hailuogou Scenic Area. Most people who visit Hailuogou choose to stay here. The town is quite prosperous, with fresh air and snow-capped mountains in the distance. It is a good place to cool off. You don't need to arrange time to visit here, just stay one night if you pass by.
Moshi Ancient Town is very comfortable, with plenty of food to eat and hot springs to soak in. I think this town is the most pleasant place along the Western Sichuan Ring Road. You can go out and stroll around the town at night, it is quite lively.
There is not much to do, the town has a nice night view and is quiet!
It’s not an ancient town, it’s just a small tourist town, but there are snow-capped mountains and some historical sites from the Red Army’s Long March.
And the distinctive ancient town, a must-go place to Hailuogou.
There will be no altitude sickness, it is only more than 1,000 meters, Hailuogou's accommodation
It's a down-to-earth town. After dinner, I bought some delicious fruits on the street.
It is a very small town, but the facilities are relatively complete and it is very close to the Hailuogou Scenic Area. The town still has some history and there is an old street where you can walk down.
The mouth of Hailuogou at the foot of Mount Gongga is worth a visit. It was a must-go place on the ancient Southern Silk Road.
Most ancient towns follow the same routine: at 9 o'clock in the morning, the sky in the small town looks like 7 o'clock in the eastern city, and there are few people on the streets.
It’s just the street (old street) in the photo. It takes about half an hour to get off the bus on the way to Hailuogou.
As soon as you enter the town, the entire street is lined with inns.
After a short rest, I decided to go out for a walk. Moshi Ancient Town is quite interesting. Although it is commercialized, it is not as annoying as commercialization. Speaking of this, I think of Ciqikou in Chongqing.
There are wooden buildings all along the way, painted and uniformly planned. The bright yellow and warm lights illuminate the entire road. It is very similar to the Hongyadong in Chongqing, and also very similar to the world of Yubaba in "Spirited Away". There are also hot springs to soak in here.
It gives me the feeling of Hongyadong, but the roast chicken is really delicious, the chicken is very fragrant... I will eat roast suckling pig tomorrow
Compared with Pingyao Ancient Town and Dayan Ancient Town, it is not as commercial, things are not expensive, there is no entrance fee, and it is worth a visit.
I was wandering around this small town alone, taking photos. It was great to choose this time period; it wasn't crowded, it wasn't noisy, time was slow and peaceful.
When you enter the ancient town, you will smell a special flavor, as if it is the flavor of its history, or perhaps its sense of age.
Wandering around the town, at an altitude of about 2,500 meters, I felt shortness of breath for the first time when walking fast.
This ancient town is not big and can be walked through in less than 5 minutes. In the stone-paved ancient town, buildings are closely clustered on both sides of the road. In fact, there are few ancient houses. The most distinctive one is the Catholic church built by French missionaries in 1918.
The old street is good, and the newly built one is also OK, it still has an atmosphere
Moshi Ancient Town is somewhat similar to Lijiang Dayan Ancient Town, but it only has one small street and there are basically no tourists!
There are newly built wooden houses on both sides of the road, which feels a bit like the ancient town of Dali or Lijiang.
The exit of the church is the pedestrian street of Moshi Ancient Town, with shops and bars on both sides of the street. As it is the off-season for tourism, there are not many tourists and it is very deserted. Many hotels have their doors locked and are not open.
This is the first choice for accommodation in Hailuogou.
I don't know how big the ancient town of Moshi is, but the old street is quite short, with only a few hundred meters of alleys. The architectural style and pattern are well preserved, and it has a bit of the flavor of an ancient street. You can go shopping. In addition to this old street, there are newly built houses all around. If you plan to stay overnight when visiting Hailuogou, then some small bars on this ancient street are a good choice. There are about seven or eight bars on the whole street. I didn't count them, but there are quite a few anyway. I personally think that there is a bar called March Tavern next to the Catholic Church, which is quite interesting. The style is completely different from other bars on the ancient street. It is not so noisy, and it does not provide karaoke. It just allows you to listen to music and drink quietly. The interior space of the tavern, the garden, and the wine itself are all quite stylish. We sat in the yard at night. It was small and exquisite. You can see the starry sky and invite the boss to play games together. Hahaha, it is quite suitable for killing time at night. In short, it is not bad. If I go again next time, I plan to go to March Tavern to sit! 😉😉
This is an ancient town. There are not many people, giving people a quiet and slow-paced life atmosphere. This is the tone that a small town should have.
It's a very small ancient town. There aren't many people during the day, and the commercial atmosphere is not too strong. It's suitable for a relaxing tour. I found a pub that is very different from other bars in the town and sat there for a day. I can drink tea during the day and special cocktails at night. I ordered a Mengpo soup, and it really made me forget my sorrow after drinking it...
There weren't many people before 5.1. After soaking in the hot springs, I passed by Moshi Ancient Street. The internet-famous Camp No. 7 was right on the street. I walked to the end of the street after a series of special snacks such as barley flowers, bamboo rice, and yak beef. Suddenly, my eyes lit up - "March Tavern (Ten Miles of Spring Breeze Is Not as Good as You)", with a refreshing Chinese style, a plain water bar, stone steps, gray walls, and log shelves. Different from the heavy-colored bar style on the street, the phrase "Ten Miles of Spring Breeze on Yangzhou Road, Rolling Up the Pearl Curtain Is Not as Good as You" popped into my mind. I picked up the camera and the boss warmly invited me to take pictures. Walking through the aisle, I felt like I had strayed into a paradise. The quaint little windows were hidden between the bamboo fences, and the deep blue sky was filled with large white clouds. I decisively chose to sit down in the courtyard. The tea menu was very literary and the wine menu was very trendy. Have a cup of Kung Fu tea and be in a daze. Have a Chinese cocktail for a long aftertaste.
Moshi Ancient Town is very small. You can travel around the whole town in two hours. What's interesting is that there are only three roads, called the first ring road, the second ring road, and the third ring road. It's like Shanghai. The town is constantly being built and has its own characteristics. It will be more beautiful in the future.
Moshi Ancient Town is really small. In fact, almost everyone comes here for the same reason, to go to Hailuogou, and the ancient town is the only way to Hailuogou.
Many people choose to stay in Moxi Ancient Town for a night. There are few people in the town but many houses, or more precisely, many inns, which makes it feel like a tourist accommodation town.
Moshi means treasure land in Qiang language. The ancient town is more than 50 kilometers away from Luding County and 70 kilometers away from Kangding.
After dinner, I took a walk along the old street and found that Moshi Ancient Town was so beautiful at night.
Walking on the stone road, we heard the sound of silverware being struck beside us, and the bright lights made the street look like daytime. The master making highland barley noodles looked up at us from time to time, and the owner of the mushroom shop sat in front of the store to invite us in. At the end of the street was a bar with colorful decorations painted on the wooden sign of the bar, and low music came from inside through the window. At this moment, I felt the strong Sichuan-Tibet style coming towards me, which made me unforgettable.
The food here is really good, it's so unpalatable that it makes you feel uncomfortable.
A very unique place, ancient town, natural scenery, the snow scene in winter is still very beautiful
It is a relatively small ancient town, but the commercialization is still relatively small. Mineral water is still two yuan a bottle. There are many farmhouses and barbecue restaurants. There are relatively few choices, but it is still possible to take a break and walk.
This is probably the case in all ancient towns, but we actually saw the top of Gongga Mountain from the hotel we stayed in in the morning. I don’t know if it is the main peak of Gongga, but it was covered with snow, which was really beautiful.
It was already evening when we arrived, and many shops were still open at night. There was also a Catholic church in the block.
A very beautiful town with quaint buildings and kind people! There is an old church, which is nice!
The reason why I generally rate it as "worth a visit" is that it is the most convenient place to go to Hailuogou and Yanzigou.
A small town full of literary and artistic atmosphere, with many bars where you can stay for free.
If you cross the street where the Moshi Conference was held, you will reach the Food Street.
Passing by Daocheng and Hailuogou, I took a casual walk around. It is an ancient town with a literary and historical atmosphere.
Located in Luding County, about 33 kilometers away from Lenqi Town, it is a small town that provides food and accommodation. If you pass by here on your way to Yajiageng Red Stone Beach, you can take a look around. I personally think it is not worth making a special trip.
Moxi Ancient Town is located in the south of Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is located on the east slope of Gongga Mountain Scenic Area and at the entrance of Hailuogou Glacier Forest Park. It belongs to the outer protection zone of Hailuogou Scenic Area and is the tourist reception base and entrance of Hailuogou Scenic Area.
We went there at the end of January. Compared to Chengdu, the temperature in Moshi Ancient Town was much colder. Locals said that the temperature would be even lower above the Hailuogou Scenic Area, and it would be even colder when we took the cable car to Camp No. 4 at 3,600 meters.
The old street in Moshi Ancient Town is quite lively, with many bars and shops, but it is quite far from the Hailuogou Visitor Center (ticket office and scenic area bus entrance), about 1KM on foot. If you want to be closer to the visitor center, you can stay near the church.
Accommodation in Moshi Ancient Town is relatively affordable. Even during the Spring Festival, there are still inns that cost dozens of yuan per room. Of course, there are also hotels that cost thousands of yuan. It depends on your personal preference. Of course, the cheaper ones have relatively worse conditions and are farther from the tourist center. But in general, as long as you live in the ancient town, basically every place is within 20 to 30 minutes' walk.
There is a large square in front of the visitor center. I don’t know if it’s because of the Spring Festival, but there are many tourists gathered here, singing and dancing and holding a bonfire party.
If you are interested, you can go to my travel notes~ http://www.mafengwo.cn/i/6988685.html
Three stars for features, because the bar street in the town is similar to other places, but there is a Catholic church which is quite magical; four stars for scenery, the town is quiet and clean, and you can see the snow-capped mountains; five stars for public services, the hotel has everything, the hot water supply is very good, and the touching thing is that the prices in the town are the same as those in Chengdu, and there is no tourist attraction that raises the price. The best thing is that although we went there during the Dragon Boat Festival, there were not many people here.
Moxi Town is located at the foot of Hailuogou. We arrived at Hailuogou on the same day, stayed for one night, and entered the Hailuogou scenic area the next day. For me, the beauty of Moxi Town lies in its quietness, slowness, cleanliness, coolness, and delicious food. . . .
I refueled in Moshi, and had some instant noodles with free hot water at the gas station.
Moshi on a sunny day is like a painting. Please ask the students there to help me look at the dog. He will bask in the sun next to the tourist center in the morning.
It feels commercial, but the signs on the doors of some small shops are particularly interesting!
The ancient town is usually a casual stroll after coming down from Hailuogou.
I have to say that Moshi Ancient Town is the most comfortable place along the way. There are taverns, love
It is worth a visit, a historically significant and very distinctive town.
A town that makes people nostalgic, a red ancient town. Learned red historical knowledge. A quiet and simple town.
It's better and newer than I expected, but it feels similar to Dali in Yunnan. It was the off-season when I went there, so there weren't many people, so it was pretty good.
There is an ancient street in the ancient town. I went there in the off-season. There were no tourists and the ancient town was peaceful and tranquil.
I saw handmade metal utensils and bought some highland barley cakes.
The ancient street is where the Red Army once held meetings.
It's quite unique, but it has too much commercial flavor. It depends on your preference.
Moxi Ancient Town is an ancient town near Hailuogou Scenic Area. This ancient town is very quiet. After a long journey, when my friends chose to rest, I chose to visit this ancient town. Friends who want to go to Hailuogou can stay here. Food and accommodation here can still meet the needs of tourists. When you enter the ancient town, you can see local roasted potatoes, yak yogurt, barley cakes, silver jewelry stores and Tibetan small cloth bag stores.
I like this town very much. Although this is a gathering place for ethnic minorities, most of them are from other places. It feels like a small paradise and the commercial atmosphere is not strong. I like it very much.
It's a small town, nothing to see, mainly food
The facilities in the town are average, most of them are folk customs. If a girl is alone, it is better to stay in a larger hotel for safety. The yogurt in the town is not bad.
I went there in the off-season. It was clean and less crowded. Some places were under construction. The environment was good, the consumption level was not high, and the people were simple.
Moxi Ancient Town is a place worth visiting. There is a bar with a good feel.
The town where Hailuogou is located is quite unique. You can take a hot spring bath. It is a very good place.
Moxi Ancient Town is located in the south of Luding County, on the east slope of Gongga Mountain Scenic Area, at the entrance of Hailuogou Glacier Forest Park. It belongs to the outer protection zone of Hailuogou Scenic Area and is the tourist reception base and entrance of Hailuogou Scenic Area. It is 52 kilometers away from Luding County. Although Moxi Ancient Town has gone through vicissitudes of time, people can still glimpse its long history from its many ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The old Chinese-style buildings still retain their solemnity, and the Gothic church built by French missionaries has echoed the prayer bells for a century. The fusion of Chinese and Western cultures adds another kind of interest to the ancient town.
The business atmosphere of Moxi Ancient Town is not very strong, and there are not many tourists. The town mainly sells horn combs and silverware.
A very quiet town with good accommodation, food and shopping
In fact, the more you visit ancient towns, the more you will find that most of them have the same style.
The antique architectural style, wooden houses and stone roads, various small bars and specialty shops, nothing new. And this old street is not long, just one street, it is definitely not cost-effective to go there specially, but it is also a good idea to visit it on the way to Hailuogou.
This is a small town, this is a small town, what else? Oh, yes, there are also simple people.
It is a quiet and peaceful town, not at a high altitude, without the hustle and bustle of ordinary ancient towns. Standing on the rooftop platform of the inn in the morning, there are snow-capped mountains on three sides.
Moshi Ancient Town is in a valley with valleys on both sides, which is a bit like a man blocking a pass. The ancient town is not big, probably only about one to two kilometers, a straight line with no other roads. What distinguishes the ancient town from other ancient towns is that there are not so many small commodities from Yiwu, and it feels more local. The yogurt in the ancient town is worth a try. There is also a bar decorated with beer bottles in the ancient town, which is very suitable for taking pictures.
