From Dujiangyan Scenic Area, take Dujiangyan City Bus No. 101 from Lidui Park Station to the front mountain of Qingcheng Mountain.

On Mount Qingcheng, the birthplace of Taoism, there are many Taoist temples and pavilions. When it rained a little, the water dripped through the rocks, making it look like a secret place. Our hiking route is roughly as follows:

Go up the mountain: Mountain Gate → Yilewo → Yuecheng Lake → Cableway → Siwang Temple → Shangqing Palace

Go down the mountain: Spectacular Terrace → Jiudaoguai → Woyun Pavilion → Zibi Groove → Tianshi Cave → Wudongtian → Shanyin Pavilion → Yinsheng Pavilion → Yilewo → Mountain Gate

Due to lack of physical strength, I was not able to climb to the Laojun Pavilion on the top of the mountain, which is a small regret. There are buses to Chengdu at the foot of the mountain, and the intercity bus station is not far away, so it is still very convenient to return to the city.

From Dujiangyan, take bus No. 101 in front of the scenic area and arrive at the front mountain of Qingcheng Mountain in about 50 minutes. There is still a distance from here to the official gate of the scenic area. You can choose to walk or take the scenic sightseeing bus. The ticket is 10 yuan one way, and only cash is accepted. It is recommended to take this sightseeing bus because the distance is really not close, and it is also to maintain physical strength to climb the mountain. The reason why I chose the front mountain is because it has a deeper cultural heritage. I don’t have religious beliefs, but I will go into the temples or ancestral halls during the trip to see it, whether it is to see the architecture or to understand some of its culture, rather than just treating it as a place of faith and worship. After getting off the scenic area sightseeing bus and passing the archway of the first mountain in Western Sichuan, I officially arrived at the gate of the scenic area. The ticket was purchased online on the spot, 74 yuan, and the ticket was exchanged at the ticket window of the scenic area with an ID card. I bought a round-trip cableway ticket for 60 yuan, which can be paid by mobile phone. Because the fog was too heavy, I couldn’t see anything on the cableway. After getting off the cableway and climbing forward, you can reach Ciyun Pavilion, Shangqing Palace, and Laojun Pavilion one after another. On the way up the mountain, I bought a snow lotus root, a small root for 5 yuan, it was icy, refreshing and slightly sweet, and the taste was okay. From Laoxiaoding, you can't see anything overlooking Qingcheng Mountain. After visiting Laojun Pavilion, according to the original itinerary, we should walk down the mountain from the other side of the mountain, but because my sister was tired and there were not many people and she was a little scared, we bought a round-trip ticket for the cable car, so we returned the same way. In fact, it was completely in time to walk down the mountain at this time, and not being able to visit Qingcheng Mountain properly was a small regret of my trip.

To put it bluntly, it is a natural oxygen bar park, suitable for city people to go out on weekends, climb mountains, enjoy the scenery, and exercise, but it is not suitable for us who are traveling. Even the tour guide said that it is not recommended to take the cable car or hike, and you can just walk wherever you want, because there is really nothing to see.

Looking at the densely packed stairs, I feel like there is no hope for life.

In fact, everyone has this mentality: since we are here, we should see what we should see to avoid regrets. So we kept climbing and climbing... but we didn't reach the top. On the way, we met two brothers who had reached the top of the mountain and turned back, telling us that there was indeed nothing on the top.

I climbed to Tianshi Cave, but couldn't go any higher. I saw a gate, a hall, and a demon-subduing stone. I was so confused.

There was indeed some cultural history along the way, but I was completely immersed in the inherent thinking of climbing and had no time to listen.

Qingcheng Mountain is humid and often rains. I climbed to Tianshi Cave in the rain and then headed down the mountain. My iPhone recorded that I climbed 100 floors that day... It stopped raining after I got down the mountain. I was so tired that I didn't know anything.

If I were given another chance, I would definitely choose to take the cable car. Maybe there would be different scenery along the way.

Qianshan is a relatively commercialized mountain, so it is quite popular and crowded. You can see the queue of sightseeing buses when you get off the bus. If you are very physically fit, you can choose to walk. The sightseeing bus cannot drive directly to the foot of the mountain. You still need to walk a short distance. First, you have to pass a memorial archway of "The First Mountain in Western Sichuan" and then continue to move forward. Qingcheng is really not just a saying. The gurgling stream and the mottled sunlight that are faintly scattered are beautiful. When going down the mountain, everyone must remember to be careful. Safety first. The mountain roads in some places are still difficult to walk. Some roads are narrow; some steps are very small, and half of your foot is outside when you step down; some have no railings... Anyway, everyone is careful, careful, and careful.

As a famous Taoist mountain, it is highly recommended for those who love a quiet life and are willing to cultivate their body and mind. It is best to go there early and climb slowly to feel the tranquility and beauty of Mount Qingcheng. For those with children, you can only take a cable car to take a quick look, but sitting quietly in it for a day, breathing in the oxygen, and being exposed to more negative oxygen ions is also beneficial to the body.

There are many cultural buildings in the front mountain. The incense of the Taoist temple and the moist air in the mountain create a mysterious and deep feeling. Qingcheng Mountain in summer is definitely a good place to escape the heat.

Due to the overhaul of the cableway from 1/6 to 1/25, we hiked the entire way to the front mountain of Qingcheng Mountain. It took us 5 hours to climb, including the mountain gate → Tianran Pavilion → Yinsheng Pavilion → Tianran Painting → Quanzhen Temple → Tianshi Cave → Shangtian Ladder → Woyun Pavilion → Langhuan Fairy Pavilion → Chaoyang Cave → Donghua Hall → Laojun Pavilion (the highest point of Qingcheng Mountain), which took more than 3 hours. Then we started to go down the mountain → Shangqing Palace → Ciyun Pavilion → Yuecheng Lake → Buxu Gallery → Mountain Gate, which took 2 hours. There are only two scenic spots for going down the mountain: Shangqing Palace and Ciyun Pavilion. The cableway is just behind Ciyun Pavilion, so if you like these two scenic spots, just take the cableway down the mountain. There is no scenery behind, only the road down the mountain, which takes nearly 1 hour.

The Quanzhen Temple, Tianshi Cave, Laojun Pavilion, and Shangqing Palace are all worth a closer look, but I only had a quick look. So a one-day trip to Dujiangyan and Qingcheng Mountain is just a quick check-in, and it’s better to have a two-day trip to fully enjoy it.

The main part of the Qingcheng Mountain Scenic Area, Taoist culture, and cultural relics are mostly concentrated in this area.

Almost every hundred steps, you can see a cultural relic, temple, Taoist temple, or attic.

Covered with lush vegetation, the ancient monuments appear classical and quiet.

Qingcheng Mountain is divided into the front mountain and the back mountain. Surrounded by undulating peaks and lush forests, it enjoys the reputation of "Qingcheng is the most secluded place in the world". The whole mountain is green and evergreen all year round. The surrounding peaks are like a city wall, so it is named Qingcheng Mountain. There are thousands of red stairs and winding paths, which are quiet and clean. Inside and outside the scenic area, the quietness of Tianshi Cave and Yuanming Palace is a major feature of Qingcheng Mountain.

It is a Taoist holy place. The mountain is not high, but it is magical if there are immortals. It is not difficult to walk up and down.

I came to Qingcheng Mountain for Bai Suzhen, but ended up visiting a Taoist temple.

The front mountain of Qingcheng Mountain is mainly for Taoist culture, while the back mountain of Qingcheng Mountain is mainly for natural scenery. Since we only had half a day, we only visited the front mountain. At the entrance, we rented a guide. That day happened to be the first day of Luotian Dajiao. The guide said that this is a very grand event in Taoism. Indeed, there were many people that day. Famous mountains and halls from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, the United States and other countries and regions participated. In fact, it is quite good to rent a guide. At least you can get something out of the fun and find it interesting. You don’t just wander around and don’t know what you are doing.

There are two ways to get to the front mountain from the back mountain: the first is to go back to the front gate of Qingcheng Mountain and take the yellow minibus from the back mountain, which still costs 15 yuan to take you to the front mountain; the second is that there are many private cars in the ancient town, and they will ask you if you want to go down the mountain, etc., which also costs 15 yuan and can take you from the ancient town to the front mountain gate, which is faster.

I took a private car that day and it took about half an hour to get to the front mountain. The entrance fee to the front mountain is 90 yuan, and 45 yuan with a student ID.

The air is very good, you must go when there are few people

The characteristic of Qingcheng Mountain is that it is very quiet. It is very cool in summer, and it is already very cold in early autumn. It is probably the kind of feeling that cools your heart. If we are not too tired, it is still very pleasant to walk around.

The guide says that it takes about 2.5 hours to climb the front mountain. But we actually found that it takes 4 hours. The way up the mountain is still very long, especially if you have to walk from the bus station. It was already late when we went there. We had to walk back to catch the train after climbing to Tianshi Cave. We will come back later to visit the back mountain as well.

Taxis can no longer enter the Qingcheng Mountain Gate. The park stipulates that you can only take the park's environmentally friendly battery car from the main gate to the mountain gate, and you must buy a separate ticket. Friends who don't want to buy tickets can also walk to the mountain gate by themselves, but the distance is still quite long. After walking this distance and then going up the mountain, it is still a big test for tourists with average physical strength.

The Jianfu Palace is at the entrance to the mountain gate. They sell some small commodities, but you don’t have to go in.



At the entrance of the mountain, you can see a lot of tour guides. In fact, I personally think that you can either rent an interpreter or just look at the map when entering the mountain. There is no need to care about the tour guide unless you are a complete road idiot. Although the Qingcheng Mountain Scenic Area is not large, the route is relatively complicated. But if you follow the route, you will basically not go wrong.



When buying tickets, you need cash. I don't know why many attractions in Sichuan like to accept cash. This is really frustrating for people like us who only bring Alipay and cards when we go out. I have to exchange money with passers-by along the way.



Another way to save money is to buy the entrance ticket directly on major websites. You can exchange it directly when you arrive. It is very convenient and environmentally friendly. If you pay for your friends, this method is also very convenient for you to settle the accounts later. But it is better to bring some cash when you go out, because credit cards and Alipay are not accepted in the entire Qingcheng Mountain Scenic Area. Including those cable cars and cruise ships, all require cash.



The local customs and practices are really hard to describe. Because we didn't bring any cash with us? When we were about to take the Yuecheng Lake cruise, we were just short of five yuan. So we wanted to find the hot dog seller next door to change five yuan. But the boss refused to give it to us at all, and said that you can only change money if you don't spend money here. Can't you buy a few hot dogs and get the change? ! Although what he said was not wrong, he had no obligation to help us. But... such cold human feelings are really hard to describe.



Although the scenery of Qingcheng Mountain is beautiful, the route is complicated. There are few road signs. The most conspicuous place for road signs is where you can take the boat and the cable car. The cable car is not long, but it costs money. Although it can save a lot of energy, you have to find the trail because there are no clear signs. It still takes some effort. It is recommended to take a picture of the route map next to each point to avoid going wrong.



However, no matter what, the scenery of Qingcheng Mountain is still very good. Although it is a Taoist site, there is no custom like when I went to Mount Tai that forced you to pray for blessings and buy incense. So the overall travel experience is still happy and peaceful.



The entire front mountain is basically surrounded by various Taoist temples and Taoist palaces. It is still worth a quick visit. The most important thing is that the best scenery in the scenic area is Laojun Pavilion. So no matter how tired you are, you must go up to Laojun Pavilion! The scenery above is really a panoramic view of all the mountains. If you don't go to Laojun Pavilion, you may really think that the scenery is very ordinary.

"Qingcheng is the most secluded place in the world" is indeed worthy of its reputation. Everywhere you look is green, quiet and clean. The water vapor floating in the air makes the originally dry clothes wet. It is said that there are more than 200 days of rain here in the whole year. Moss crawls all over the place where it can grow, making every place green and lush. There are so many kinds of plants that I have never seen. It is a cloudy day here, which makes it more secluded.

As a famous Taoist mountain, it has a profound cultural atmosphere. Every brick and tile contains the wisdom of the ancients when they built it. It is worth seeing. The front mountain is still a bit commercial. If you have time, you can go to the less crowded places in the back mountain to experience the meaning of "seclusion" here. It is said that there is also an experience of playing a game of mahjong in the stream. This place is more suitable for a short stay of two days, strolling in the quietness, breathing negative oxygen ions, and repairing the tired body and mind.

The front mountain is the main part of the Qingcheng Mountain Scenic Area, which is dominated by Taoist culture. The mountain road is relatively flat and takes 2-3 hours.

The front mountain route is a loop, you can go up left and down right, or up right and down left, the difference is not big. It passes Jianfu Palace, Natural Painting, Five Caves, Chaoyang Cave, Shangqing Palace, Laojun Pavilion, Ciyun Pavilion, then take the cable car down to Yuecheng Lake and return to the mountain gate.

Even if you stop and go, four hours is enough to visit the front mountain.

It is recommended to buy tickets from Chengdu Railway Station in advance, because Chengdu Station is close to the city, and there is only one bus in the morning and afternoon. Remember to buy return tickets in advance, otherwise it will take a long time to take the bus back from Qingcheng Mountain... Tickets are 88 yuan (online).

Turn left from the high-speed rail station and you will see the bus station. It only takes five minutes for the bus to reach the scenic area bus station. Don't take the black car at the door, or the free car mentioned in the small broadcast. There are two routes for climbing the mountain. We chose the one on the left this time, which is less crowded. However, there are several sections of the road that are particularly steep and difficult to climb, but as the saying goes, it is easy to climb up the mountain but difficult to go down the mountain. If you climb from the right according to the official recommendation, it will probably be more difficult to go down the mountain! It took more than an hour to climb to the halfway point of the mountain. Looking up at the Laojun Pavilion on the top of the mountain from the Woyun Pavilion, now on the Laojun Pavilion (the top of the front mountain of Qingcheng Mountain), you can see all the small mountains. It is said that Qingcheng Mountain rains for two-thirds of the year, but we caught up with the sunny day, so it was very hot, and the physical strength and water consumption were very large. It took three hours to climb to the top of the mountain after walking and stopping. Due to the tight time, we chose to take the cable car down the mountain. The one-way trip cost 35 yuan. Although it was only two minutes, I was still a little scared looking at the cliff below. It should be noted that after getting off the bus, it is still three or four kilometers away from the Qingcheng Mountain Scenic Area. It is recommended to take a sightseeing bus, which costs ten yuan per person. Otherwise, you will have consumed a lot of energy before climbing the mountain, which is not worth it. If you have enough time, you can walk back to the bus station. The scenery along the way from the ticket gate to the entrance of the scenic area is also good.

Taking the express train from Chengdu, the transportation is quite convenient. When I got here, I suddenly understood what "mountains have spiritual energy". The greenery is everywhere and the air is fresh. It's great. The ticket price is 90, which is a bit higher than the back mountain, but in terms of the cultural landscape inside the scenic area, it is also worth it.

Qingcheng is one of the most secluded places in the world, and it is a must-see in Shu Mountain. It has natural scenery and Taoist culture.

Regarding the front mountain, I personally think it is a check-in attraction. If you don’t go there, the trip will feel incomplete, but if you go there, you will feel it is just average (especially after visiting the back mountain). Of course, if you are interested in religious culture, you can go there to feel the atmosphere of Taoist culture, or you can take a tour guide to listen to the history of the rise of various gods.

You can spend 10 yuan to take the scenic sightseeing bus to the ticket office (you can also walk, but it is not recommended because the journey is not short and it is a waste of leg strength). It will rain lightly when you go up the mountain. It is recommended to buy raincoats and rain boots early (it will be 5 yuan more expensive after going up the mountain). After entering, it is not recommended to choose the Yilewo road. There are small pavilions all the way. Just take the Yuecheng Lake road. After arriving at Yuecheng Lake, continue to look for the cable car. If you don’t want to take a boat, don’t take it. The cable car is behind Yuecheng Lake, but there is no sign, so I almost thought I had to take a boat... Since I climbed the back mountain on the first day, I didn’t climb the mountain. I took the cable car up and down, a total of 70 yuan (there will be a Guanyin wall on the way, don’t miss it) After that, you will reach Shangqing Palace, Zhang Daqian’s former residence, Donghua Palace, and the top is Laojun Pavilion. When you go there on a rainy day, overlooking the mountains, the smoke is lingering, like entering a fairyland. Go down the mountain and return along the original route, which takes about 3.4 hours.

Qingcheng Mountain Front

The Qingcheng Mountain Scenic Area is mainly divided into the front mountain and the back mountain. The front mountain is mainly for Taoist temples, which is a perfect combination of humanity and nature. If you want to temporarily get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and feel the fresh and elegant atmosphere, Qingcheng Mountain is a rare place. Of course, if you are from Chengdu, or work in Chengdu, such benefits are very easy to achieve!

There are two famous Taoist mountains: Wudang and Qingcheng.

You can take a bus from Dujiangyan directly to Qingcheng Mountain Scenic Area, and the journey takes about 1 hour. Qingcheng Mountain is divided into the front mountain and the back mountain. It is said that the back mountain is more fun. Due to time constraints, I went to the front mountain. The front mountain is actually just climbing and doing aerobic exercises. Friends who are short of time are not recommended to go there.

After arriving at Qingcheng Mountain Station, you will see bus No. 101 right outside the station. Please note that this station has two directions. The bus that stops in front of the bus stop is bound for Qingcheng Mountain, and the bus that stops behind the bus stop is bound for Dujiangyan. There are signs in front of the buses, and you can also ask the driver. It costs 2 yuan to go directly to the scenic spot. So, don't take a black car or a minibus. It is very convenient to take a regular bus.

After getting off the bus, you will see the sightseeing bus ticket office. It costs 10 yuan per ticket to enter the mountain. Of course, you can also walk in. The road is well built, the air environment is also very good, there is a plank road, and it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk there. I walked in

Here I want to complain about the official recommended tour line

The official guide says that after entering the mountain, you can take a boat to Yuecheng Lake and then take the cable car up the mountain. After reaching the top, you can go down the mountain from the left. I personally don’t recommend it. I climbed up the mountain from the left and took the cable car down the mountain from the right. After going down the mountain, I didn’t take a boat and walked out by myself.

It's because there is a narrow section of the road when going up the mountain. You just have to keep your head down when going up the mountain, and you have to look at the road ahead when going down the mountain. It might be nervous.

The weather was very good when we were climbing up the mountain. On the way, I heard the tour guide say that it might rain for more than 200 days out of 365 days in Qingcheng Mountain. I was so lucky. But it started to rain when we were going down the mountain. My feet were shaking the whole time. It was a pity that I couldn’t climb to Laojun Pavilion because of road construction. But since my feet hurt for a week after returning, I secretly felt lucky that I didn’t climb up 😂

20231015 Update:

The P1 and P2 parking lots are on both sides of the high-speed rail station. The location is quite bad and too far from the mountain gate. You basically have to take a shuttle bus. The previous parking lot was much closer to the mountain gate, but now it is abandoned. It feels like it was intentional, just to sell tickets for the shuttle bus. It is recommended to take the shuttle bus directly to the mountain gate. The middle station is 2 or 3 kilometers away from the mountain gate. You can also take the 101 or 101A bus from the high-speed rail station to the vicinity of the middle station, and you can use the Tianfutong bus card.

For mountain climbing, it is recommended to go up the mountain from the natural painting side and then take the cable car down the mountain. There is also a road near the Yuecheng Lake cable car that can go up the mountain, but there are no attractions along the way, and it hurts your knees to go down the mountain. You don’t need to take a boat to Yuecheng Lake, there is a road next to it, which is easy to walk.

The old Laojun Pavilion was destroyed in the 2008 earthquake, and now it seems that you can't go upstairs. Before the destruction, the Laojun statue seemed to be 5 stories high, and tourists could go up to the top floor.

Generally speaking, "asking for the way to Qingcheng Mountain" refers to the front mountain. It is said that the first Tianshi Zhang preached here during the Eastern Han Dynasty, and there are many legends about Lü Dongbin in the mountain. The main route seems to be Natural Painting - Tianshi Cave - Zushi Hall - Shangqing Palace - Laojun Pavilion.

The Sanqing Hall in Tianshi Cave is said to have been built in 1923, and the plaque "Dantai Bidong" was written by Emperor Kangxi. The three emperors in the Sanhuang Hall were all made during the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty, because Huangdi once worshipped Ning Fengzi as his teacher and learned the way of "dragon-jutsu flying", and Ning Fengzi practiced in Qingcheng Mountain. There is a thousand-year-old ginkgo tree near the Ginkgo Pavilion, which is said to have been planted by Zhang Tianshi.

The plaque of Shangqing Palace was written by Chiang Kai-shek himself, and the couplet was written by Yu Youren, a veteran of the Kuomintang. It is said that there were also works by Feng Yuxiang and Deng Xihou.

Further up is the Laojun Pavilion, which was newly built and damaged during the 512 Incident. It is said to be open now. There is a huge statue of Taishang Laojun in the pavilion, which is said to be built based on Xu Beihong's posthumous work "Purple Air Coming from the East" in Qingcheng Mountain. Climbing to the top of the Laojun Pavilion, you can overlook the surrounding mountains and enjoy the feeling of "standing on the top of the mountain and looking down on all the mountains".

The front of Qingcheng Mountain is paved with bluestone, which is flat and wide, easy to walk, and not too high. It is basically stress-free to go back and forth in a day without taking the cable car. There is Yuecheng Lake in front of the cable car where you can take a boat, and it seems that you can also go around it from the side.

Generally speaking, the air is fresh and the ancient trees are towering, but it's a pity that there are too many people there. My dad said that there weren't many people there the last time he went there, and it felt like a fairyland, but now there's "not much fairyland".

I went to the front mountain, where the red walls, stone tablets, blue smoke, etc. can all be chosen as photo scenes.

It is recommended to take photos of Hanfu. When I went there, I just chose a skirt with some Hanfu elements.

The mountains are very foggy, damp and cold, so remember to put on more clothes in any season.

We went to Mount Qingcheng, the hometown of Bai Suzhen, and learned some knowledge about Taoism. Painting on the cliffs is absolutely ingenious. Later, we climbed up to Shangqing Palace. It is said that the top is Laojun Pavilion, but I really don’t have the energy. I hope to climb to the top to take a look next time I come.

This type of mountain in China is the same, and the ticket is very expensive. It's not worth it. The ticket + round-trip sightseeing bus + cable car round trip is 170. If you come here, you will know how rip-off it is. I only went to the front mountain, which is full of temples. The tour guide said that I didn't have time to go to the back mountain. If you like climbing, I will go to the back mountain. The ticket is 20. The scenery should be better than the front mountain. The basic scenery is the scenery in the picture below.

The front mountain of Qingcheng Mountain is open from 8:00 to 17:00 (March 2 to November 30) and 8:00 to 18:00 (December 1 to March 1). The tour duration is 4 hours. The ticket to the front mountain is 90 yuan. I wanted to go up the mountain via the Natural Painting and take the cable car down the mountain, but my legs were still sore after sleeping all night. After arriving at the Natural Painting, I had breakfast and chatted with the locals and returned to the gate. If I walked up the mountain and took the cable car down the mountain, I might not be able to catch the high-speed rail. The route of Natural Pictures up the mountain and the cable car down the mountain has many steep and tiring stairs. Of course, it doesn't matter if you are a physical expert.

It took four hours to climb the mountain. Going down the mountain is not the same way, but going down the mountain from the bottom of the cableway. There is no scenery along the way, but it is very close. It takes almost an hour to reach the gate of the scenic area.
