The biggest highlight of the temple is that there is a 12-year-old life-size statue of Sakyamuni in the temple, which is the same as the one in the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa.

The white Buddhist temple on the right is the place for worshiping Sakyamuni, and the Buddhist temple on the left is the place for worshiping Guanyin. Tagong Temple is one of the famous temples of the Sakya sect of Tibetan Buddhism. It has a history of thousands of years and is known as the "Little Jokhang Temple". The full name of Tagong Temple is "Yijian Ruyi Jietuo Temple". There is a Sakyamuni statue in the temple that is the same as the one in Jokhang Temple in Lhasa. Legend has it that Princess Wencheng passed by here on her way to Tibet and made a statue imitating the Sakyamuni statue she brought to Lhasa and left it in the temple. Therefore, "anyone who wishes to make a pilgrimage to Lhasa, Tibet but fails to do so can also have the same effect and merit by worshipping the Sakyamuni statue in Tagong Temple in Kangzang", so Tagong Temple is also known as the "Little Jokhang Temple".

Tagong Temple is much better than what everyone says. If you are interested, you can go and have a look. It is open and basically you will not be turned away. But you need to take off your shoes when entering, it is a bit cold. Tagong is at a higher altitude and it is colder, so be careful of altitude sickness.

The main hall of the temple is very beautiful. Many people are worshipping Buddha.

It is said that Tagong Monastery has a very high status in the Kham Tibetan area. I imagined that it should be a bustling scene with a large number of people, but unexpectedly, the monastery was very deserted. Except for a few tourists, there was no lama in the monastery or Tibetan pilgrims. Such a deserted scene is not common in any small temple in the Han area.

Purity has its own merits, and it is more in line with the temperament of a Buddhist temple. After taking off our shoes at the entrance, we walked into the hall with great respect and carefully paid homage to the 12-year-old life-size statue of Sakyamuni Buddha.

Although Tibetan temples are usually decorated with gorgeous colors and are extremely luxurious, the amazing thing is that once you enter one, you will feel pious and pure. It is generally not allowed to take pictures inside Tibetan temples, so it is impossible to show its colorful and luxurious decorations through pictures. However, the charm of Tibetan temples is not just visual beauty. The solemn atmosphere, the diffuse Tibetan incense, and the chanting of scriptures interweave together to stimulate the senses, which is what makes it truly fascinating.

As soon as we entered the Tagong Monastery, we ran into two lamas. Unlike the last time in Seda, they didn't mind being photographed by us, and enthusiastically asked me to use his phone to take a photo of my mother and them. Some people say that if you can't make a pilgrimage to the Potala Palace, it's enough to go to the Tagong Monastery. The Tagong Monastery is not too big or too small, not very lively, but very popular. Take off your shoes and enter the temple. Their scriptures are very different. They are not one book but half a page. Following the flow of people, we also took the incense oil and just applied it.

The price of the observation deck can be said to be the lowest in the scenic area, 10 yuan.

This place was not originally in our plan. Although we just stopped by and played for a while, we were deeply impressed. Because the scenery here is first of all very beautiful and secondly very representative, including the surrounding yak grasslands, temples and snow-capped mountains. Isn't this the ideal Shangri-La?

Tagong Temple is an important part of Tagong Grassland. It is a famous Sakya (Huajiao) temple in Ganzi Prefecture. Yala Mountain behind the temple rises from the grassland, majestic and spectacular, and is covered with silver all year round. The clouds are lingering, and the vast green grassland and the magnificent Tagong Temple are set off, showing a beautiful plateau scenery. Tagong Temple is under repair and we were unable to visit it. Fortunately, we saw two double rainbows, the white snow top of Yala Snow Mountain in the distance and the new golden top of Tagong Temple shining brightly in the sun, which is fascinating. This picture of a rainbow 🌈 constitutes a unique cultural landscape on the Sichuan-Tibet line that makes us stay for a long time.

By Brother Water |

The temple is not big, but it is also a very important one in the Kham area.

By Fish skin |

The building is mainly made of red and white walls, with a golden tower top, which can be seen from a distance.

I didn't go in to visit, but I was a little curious about the Tibetans circumambulating the temple.

The Tibetans all held a prayer wheel in their hands, turning it while quietly reciting scriptures. We tourists seemed to have strayed into their pure world, and even when they saw us, the Tibetans still did their daily homework.

I heard that it takes at least half an hour to turn it around. The prayer wheels at Tagong Monastery are the biggest and heaviest I have seen on the way. Even the ones at Potala Palace are only one tenth of them. I tried it myself, and it was very difficult to turn one, let alone 235. Children also turned them, and I was really moved by their piety.

Tagong Temple, next to Tagong Grassland, is a famous Sakya (Flower Sect) temple. It is not very large. The main hall is a place for chanting and worshipping Buddha, and the white Buddha Hall is a place for worshipping Buddha Sakyamuni. For me, who has no religious beliefs, the purpose of going in is very simple, just to bask in the sun. The sky is so blue and clear. (Ticket price for Tagong Temple: 20 yuan; opening hours 9:00-18:00).

I didn't go in to visit, but I was a little curious about the Tibetans circumambulating the temple, so I followed them around. It was much bigger than I imagined. It took at least half an hour to walk around. The prayer wheels were very heavy, and it was very difficult to turn each one. I was really moved by their piety.

There was also a woman with two children who were praying devoutly. I felt it would take half a day to kowtow like this!

The cylindrical prayer wheel in Tagong Monastery is also engraved with scriptures. One rotation represents one recitation, which of course is a blessing.

Many photography enthusiasts use their large SLR cameras to take pictures here. This is also where Tagong Grassland is. It is a place worth seeing.

By To be continued-Weiwei |

It's so beautiful, but the best photo spot is under construction, and it's a pity that I didn't go in because I was in a hurry

By The dragonfly that landed on your shoulder |

The temple is not big, I feel it is average, it is located on a major traffic route, you can visit it if you have time

By Xy is under the scorching sun |

The ticket price is acceptable and the building is beautiful.

I didn't go in that day due to special reasons, but I recommend everyone to go in and feel the beauty of the Tibetan Buddhist temple.

By Ying Xuan |

We were not in a hurry to go to the temple, but the prayer wheels outside attracted everyone's attention. Seeing groups of devout Tibetans coming to worship in the heavy rain, we felt respect in our hearts!

Looking at them, I suddenly understood: There is rarely a way to have both in the world, and what one truly desires in one's heart must be exchanged for something else that one is equally persistent about. Therefore, they worship devoutly, hoping to exchange what they want in this way.

In the square, a monk walked around the Tagong Temple again and again. Every time he walked towards us, his eyes were very firm, which reminded me of the monks I saw in Seda. They all had abundant hearts and were supported. No photography is allowed in the temple.

By Zhang Yang's Little Qiang |

If the weather is good, you can take a frontal photo of the Yala Mountain, which symbolizes the crown, at the entrance of Tagong Temple.

By Silu Travel |

A very distinctive Tibetan Buddhist temple, worth visiting!

By Coco |

The large prayer wheels outside Tagong Monastery take more than half an hour to turn once. There are 235 of them. To be honest, it is better to say that we just walked through them carefully, because the Tibetans really turned each one. The prayer wheels are very heavy, and it is actually very tiring to turn each one. Many people ask what is the meaning of the prayer flags flying and the prayer wheels turning? In Buddhism, it is said that every time the prayer wheels turn a circle or the prayer flags flutter in the wind, it is like a person chanting the sutra countless times, so people are so serious and attentive.

On the 215 Provincial Highway between Xinduqiao and Danba, you will pass Tagong Grassland and Tagong Temple. These attractions designed specifically for tourists have always lacked the charm to attract me to stop, so I just rolled down the window and took a few photos as a souvenir. The area around Tagong Temple is very lively and you can stop to rest or replenish supplies. If you want to experience the cultural characteristics, this is also a good place. You can also see the Yala Snow Mountain nearby.

By Li Xiaolei |

On the boundless Bamei grassland, the cattle and sheep grazing leisurely are as small as ants. Behind the white pagoda of Tagong Monastery, devout people spread prayer flags all over the hillside. Looking at the infinite scenery along the way, my heart is as free and vast as the wind on the grassland.

The pure gold roof of Tagong Temple is worth seeing! ! ! !

The roof of Tagong Temple is made of pure gold, shining brightly against the backdrop of the setting sun.

By RyanYou |

The photo was pretty good, but to be honest, I didn't go into the temple. I just turned the prayer wheel outside. Then I went to a restaurant outside with my friends to eat. Every meal in western Sichuan must be yak beef!

By Blossoming |

It is said that Tagong Temple was a place Princess Wencheng passed by when she went to Tibet to fulfill her engagement with Songtsen Gampo. Seeing the beautiful scenery of this place, she built a temple here for people to make pilgrimages.

By 100,000 Horsepower Dream Chaser |

Tagong Temple is located on the main road, and its own characteristics are not very prominent in the Tibetan area. However, it is spiritual because of the presence of the Yala Snow Mountain. During the solar term, there are many people and cars here, and it is noisy and noisy, so the experience is greatly reduced; if you come here during the off-season and encounter the golden sunset, its charm is full.

By 🍥Ala Xiaoying (❁´◡`❁) |

I passed by here on the way to Daocheng, but didn't go in. I just took a few photos outside and left. There is no parking fee here, and there are people managing the parking lot.

By Fuzzy |

The temple is quite large and charges a fee. It is nice to bask in the sun in the square at the entrance. There is a shop selling air-dried yak beef next to it, which is well made and worth buying.

By field |

What attracts me most about Tagong Monastery is not the temple itself, but the prayer wheel outside the gate that circles the temple. People turn the prayer wheel and pray for happiness and health.

By Free traveler |

Tagong Temple is located in Tagong Grassland and the temple is relatively large.

By Qinling 007 |

The Tagong Monastery is magnificent against the backdrop of the sacred Yala Mountain. Unfortunately, the better shooting angles have been cordoned off by the locals and they are charging for entry. The parking lot is also charged, and there are no public toilets nearby.

By johndoe |

A very unique temple. I was lucky that day and happened to meet a living Buddha who was preaching. I also listened to a little bit of it. As a result, I was so busy listening to the sutra that I didn't have time to walk around the temple properly.

By Jadeite Cinnabar |

In fact, the panoramic view of Tagong Temple is better from the mountain, and you can see the golden roof, but we just walked around and left.

By Weird |

The scenery is picturesque and the food sold by local Tibetans is delicious

By The mortal heart... is not over yet... |

It is located on the roadside of Tagong Grassland, with convenient transportation. The scenery is different in spring, summer and autumn. I went there in early May. The snow-capped mountains and the golden top of the temple complement each other beautifully.

By Photography Travel |

Not far from the hillside of Tagong Grassland along the road is Tagong Temple. The temple is not open to the public for free, and admission is 20 yuan per person.

By The highest good is like water |

Devout Tibetans, not afraid of the severe cold, turn the prayer wheels in the snow. The sound of reading scriptures can be heard from the solemn scripture room, and the impetuous hearts are settled.

By H Road YU Road HAN |

Because it was raining, I didn't go in to kneel and take pictures, but I ask everyone who went in to kneel sincerely. I heard that the group member who had an accident went in and just took some pictures and turned around before leaving. I walked around the prayer wheel at the door sincerely but didn't go in.

The Tibetan temple is worth seeing. I haven't seen it before. The ticket is 20 yuan. When I went there, the weather started to get better with blue sky and white clouds. We drove all the way from Xinduqiao.

The scenery of Tagong Temple under the sun is superb, and you can see the majestic ancient temple hidden by the snow-capped mountains in the distance. It was a pity that it was cloudy when we arrived, but the scenery was still stunning, and it is a great choice for photography enthusiasts.

It’s a pity that I didn’t get to see the beauty of the Yala Snow Mountain.

From Bamei to 318, there are open grasslands all the way. The golden roof of Tagong Temple can be seen from a distance. When you reach Tagong Temple grassland, you have basically seen the whole sight. Beyond Tagong Temple is the town and the fork in the road to 318.

The master said this is a place that everyone goes to, so he took us to have a look. Although the master's Mandarin is not very good, from his expression, it can be seen that he likes this place very much.

Legend has it that Princess Wencheng passed through this place when she entered Tibet and left a statue of Sakyamuni in the temple. Anyone who wishes to make a pilgrimage to Lhasa, Tibet but fails to do so can also gain the same merit by worshipping the Sakyamuni statue in Tagong Temple. So if you pass by such a sacred temple, you must go in and worship.

We set out from Xinduqiao and arrived at Tagong Temple at around 8 am. Tagong Temple is a famous temple of the Sakya sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Legend has it that Princess Wencheng passed by here when she entered Tibet and was attracted by the scenery here and built this temple. The whole temple is solemn and dignified, the sound of chanting lingers in the ears, and the exquisite architecture gives people a beautiful enjoyment. It is a place worth visiting!

Tagong Temple consists of the Main Hall, the Relic Hall, the Sakyamuni Hall, the Dharma Protector Hall, the Guanyin Hall, the Achievement Pagoda Hall, the Lotus Hall, the Pagoda Forest, the monks' quarters and a "prayer wheel" that circles the temple.

There are five halls, each dedicated to five different Bodhisattvas.

As a religious enthusiast, you have already run away, so I only visited three of them. The largest and most impressive one is the main hall of Tagong Temple, which is opposite the main gate and the only one where you can take photos.

By Xiao Jing |

When I went there, the outer gate of Tagong Temple was being renovated, so there was no sight. The entrance fee to the temple was 20 yuan. Since I was not a Buddhist, there was no need to spend money to visit. I took two photos and turned to the small square at the entrance of the temple. The square was surrounded by folk craft shops, among which there was a coffee shop that attracted attention. The owner was a foreign friend, and the decoration was very ethnic.

We arrived at Tagong Temple that morning. Because it had snowed a few days ago, the temperature was relatively low and there were few tourists. You need to buy a ticket to enter Tagong Temple. Because we don't know Tibetan Buddhism, we just looked outside. There were some stray dogs looking for food in the front yard. At this time, a young monk took out food to feed a wounded stray dog. The monk was very handsome. He bent down to break the food and feed it to the wounded stray dog, his eyes full of warmth.

Tagong Temple is not much different from other Tibetan temples in terms of appearance and architecture. It also has golden roofs and red walls, and gives people a sense of majesty and solemnity. It is also different from other temples in that it is located in the back of the temple, with the Yala Snow Mountain behind it. When we went there, the grass was yellow, which made the temple look more majestic and awe-inspiring.

This self-driving tour in western Sichuan passed through Tagong Temple. Tagong is adjacent to Bamei and Xinduqiao. The scenery along the way is continuous, and I can't stop shouting and exclaiming... Vast grasslands, pastures with herds of cattle and sheep, wild flowers all over the hills, colorful wind horse flags, mountain totems, white pagodas and golden halls... There are too many landscapes to describe, which cannot be expressed in words and pictures! We arrived at Tagong Temple on October 4th. Parking is free in the roadside parking lot. There is no ticket for the scenic spot, but if you want to go up the mountain, the locals will charge 10-20 yuan/person. Experience horseback riding for 20-30 yuan/horse. The weather is good and there are not many people. It is suitable for taking pictures. There are many tent-style shops, which mainly operate local characteristics. You can also take a short break. Tagong Temple is more than 3,000 meters above sea level. There is network signal, and the houses are also powered, which is convenient. Pay attention to keep warm and be prepared for moisture, sun, wind, rain and snow. It is cool in the morning and evening, so it is best to wear sports shoes. You can bring some fast food, convenience food, fruit or vitamin tablets, etc. Be careful not to leave household garbage! It is recommended to stay in Xinduqiao (short distance, good road conditions, accommodation 80 yuan/person including two meals). If you have a tent, you can also stay in Tagong Temple (negotiate with local residents in advance). It is best to travel with friends, have a ceiling light or headlamp, and a power bank for digital products. Reminder: When traveling and hiking, don't move too fast or too big. In order to take good photos, it is best to bring two large colorful scarves to change.

By Feeling |

I've been there twice. It costs 10 yuan to go up the hill behind Tagong Temple, but the view from the top is still very good.
