Dafo Temple, also known as Dafo Zen Temple, is located in Nanming Street, Xinchang County, Zhejiang Province. Built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the temple is known for its magnificent stone cave sculptures, rich in history. Among them is the stone Maitreya Buddha, over 1,600 years old, standing 16.3 meters tall, with knees 10.6 meters apart. It is the only surviving example of early stone cave sculpture in southern China and is known as the "Dunhuang of Yue." Liu Xie, a renowned literary theorist of the Southern Dynasties, praised it as "an unprecedented treasure, an unparalleled achievement."

The scenery is nice. There is a place called Chenghuang Temple. It is a pit when you enter.

The scenery is beautiful, the air is fresh, and the Big Buddha Temple feels just average!

The place is big and has everything. You can play there for a whole day.

The rest of the scenery was wonderful, but the only thing that spoiled it was the City God Temple inside. Once inside, the Taoist priest (or staff) was very welcoming and taught me how to pray. At the end, someone prayed for me. I was a little touched, hoping to leave the donation box somewhere. But right after I finished praying, a woman stopped me outside the temple and asked me to register: "Name, address, and amount: 100." Then I suddenly realized they were semi-forcing me to donate 100 yuan! I asked if I could donate 100 yuan, and the woman immediately frowned and said, "If you don't want to donate, it's up to you."

Absolutely terrible! The decision-makers must have been kicked in the head by a donkey. The Big Buddha Temple is first-rate (and this rare ancient site is the only one worth seeing!). But they've artificially expanded the scenic area dozens of times to its original size, filling it with a ton of rubbish, man-made attractions and shops. It takes over half an hour to walk from the entrance to the Big Buddha! Seriously! Just to make money, can they ruin such a monument and treat visitors like this?

After enjoying the Flying Dragon Plank Road in the morning, we drove to the Big Buddha Temple. We had some affordable noodles for lunch on the road across from the temple. After a satisfying meal, we headed towards the temple. The temple boasts a magnificent Buddhist statue, featuring cave sculptures and a rich history. Among them is the 1,600-year-old stone Maitreya Buddha, standing 16.3 meters tall with knees 10.6 meters apart. This is the oldest surviving cave sculpture in southern my country and is known as the "Dunhuang of Yue." Inside the temple, there are many attractions worth exploring: the Condor Heroes Village, the Reclining Buddha, and the Free Life Pond.

This was my first time in Xinchang. My previous impression of Xinchang was just that it was a county under Shaoxing, part of Tiantai County. I didn't have a particularly special impression or favorable impression of it. I had some familiarity with Tiantai, a neighboring city, because a classmate was from there. I even had a slight impression of Shengzhou because of its Yue Opera and rice cakes. This trip to Xinchang was quite pleasant. I arrived on Saturday evening and had a Three Kingdoms-themed late-night barbecue and three beers—not quite healthy, but a delightful experience. Afterward, we went to the movies at Ocean City and saw "Mission: Impossible 6," which was fantastic. We stayed at Baiyun Villa, a nice hotel in front of the Big Buddha Temple, though a bit pricey, as the North Tower was double the price. The environment was indeed quite tranquil and elegant. The breakfast was good. We then went up to the Big Buddha Temple scenic area, where the scenery was breathtaking, with its verdant mountains and clear waters. The reclining Buddha was truly impressive; it was truly enormous. They say the Buddha inside is even bigger. Continuing on, we finally saw the largest Buddha in Jiangnan. It was indeed enormous, gigantic even. So vast, carved out of a mountainside, its appendix awe-inspiring. Beyond that, the Prajna Valley was another pleasant surprise. Although a modern creation, the Buddha statues on the walls were also stunning, and the waterfall added a touch of beauty, creating a truly relaxing and delightful experience. Xinchang, I look forward to seeing you next time.

The place where the Lotus Lantern was filmed is home to the largest reclining Buddha in Asia. If you go there in the summer, it's really cool inside. Overall, the environment is good, and it's suitable for a family to walk around and rest.

The Big Buddha Temple is built against the mountain. The proportions of the Buddha statue in the temple are harmonious, fully considering people's viewing angle. It is called "the largest Buddha in Jiangnan" by the academic community.

I went there when I left Xinchang in 2004. It's quite big and you can spend an entire afternoon exploring. Some Xinhecheng employees knew about the free trails, but unfortunately I can't find any photos of them, so I'll take a photo of the rabbit fur market instead. ^_^

By Wang Wang 77 Big Mouth Ding |

The scenery of the scenic area is beautiful, the reclining Buddha is spectacular, and there are all kinds of special foods.

By Light lotus fragrance |

The stone Buddha statue has now been gilded. The Dafo Temple Scenic Area, centered around the temple, has seen a number of new attractions added since the 1980s, including the Reclining Buddha Hall and Prajna Valley, following the mountain's contours. The Buddha's heart, with the inscription "Buddha" on the cliffs echoing the heart formed by the rock below, is also a favorite. I also love the trash can design in the scenic area. The stone arhats in the Arhat Cave are now draped in colorful cloaks.

By Bearded |

In terms of natural scenery, it is nothing in the picturesque Zhejiang. You can go there without a ticket after 17:30.

A temple where you can see little monks everywhere. It is beautifully built and there are always surprises waiting for you, so I recommend a visit.

Since I was six years old, I have visited the Big Buddha Temple countless times to admire the Jiangnan Giant Buddha. As I grew up, the Big Buddha Temple also changed. The only thing that remained unchanged was the Big Buddha and the two wishing wells in front of the temple.

By Dada |

It's worth a visit if you have religious beliefs. The scenic area is quite large, and I saw a large reclining Buddha, which was very shocking. There is also a section of aerial plank road.

By Mountain covered with light clouds |

My hometown's most famous scenic spot, although it has lost some of its character after recent expansion, is still worth a visit. It deserves full marks for both reason and emotion.

By susanchu |

When we visited, a typhoon was expected to make landfall in Zhejiang that evening, so our tour guide urged us to leave early to avoid highway closures and delays in returning to Shaoxing. The scenic area was incredibly uncrowded, making the walk through a delightful experience. The giant Buddha, nestled in a cave, had a very kind expression, sheltered by buildings. A staff member offered us a tour. We ultimately made it back to our Shaoxing hotel safely, even stocking up on snacks for our return trip back home before the typhoon.

Nineteen peaks of various shapes are lined up from north to south, standing in the triangle where the Hanfei River and the Jingling River meet. The clear river flows around the mountains, and the reflections are swaying gracefully.

The Qianzhang Yougu Scenic Area is a scenic area with green bamboos extending all the way to the valley, with splashing springs and secluded bamboo paths. It combines the "beauty of Guilin, the beauty of the Li River, and the wonder of Yandang". It is well-known throughout the country as a special filming base for CCTV and has become an ideal place for tourists pursuing eco-tourism.

There is a reason why Xinchang Big Buddha Temple is famous. Although many things were modified later, it still retains the characteristics of a big Buddha temple. It is worth a visit. It is a good place to go for an outing in spring and to relax in autumn.

The temple is a designated provincial cultural relic protection site in Zhejiang Province, and its stone Maitreya statue and the Thousand Buddha Rock statues are nationally protected cultural relics. Admission is 100 yuan per person. Truly the largest Buddha statue in Jiangnan, it's truly astonishing to see. There's also a sleeping Buddha. Outside the temple, there's also the Thousand Buddha Rock, where over a thousand statues are carved into stone caves. Such a large-scale statue complex is extremely rare in southern China.

The Big Buddha Temple is a national key open temple. It was founded in the early years of the Yonghe period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,600 years. The temple is surrounded by mountains and cliffs. The Maitreya Buddha statue excavated in the Southern Dynasties of Qi and Liang is tall and majestic, majestic, solemn and wise, and is known as the "largest Buddha in Jiangnan". The adjacent Thousand Buddha Temple has 1,075 small stone Buddhas, which retain the style of the Six Dynasties. The Big Buddha Grottoes and the Thousand Buddha Grottoes, one large and one small, one more and one less, are known as the "Dunhuang of Yue Kingdom". Over the past decade, adhering to the tradition of grotto art and Buddhist culture, the Big Buddha Temple Scenic Area has successively developed attractions such as the Buddha Heart Square, Prajna Valley, Petrified Forest, Foshan Holy Land, Qiguang Jingyuan, and Shuanglin Grottoes. Among them, the Shuanglin Grottoes is currently the largest reclining Buddha grotto in the world.

The company went on a leisure trip and visited all the main attractions in two hours... Most of them are stone Buddhas carved out of the mountains, but they are still worth seeing.

By Walking on the snow |

Known as the "Largest Buddha in Jiangnan." Bus: Take bus No. 8 from the Xinchang Tourist Passenger Transport Center directly to the Dafo Temple Scenic Area. Taxi service is also available for added convenience and is very affordable. Admission: 100 yuan for adults. The Dafo Temple is enormous, and the Buddha statue is surrounded by verdant mountains. It was raining heavily that day, and the path was a bit slippery. Since the entrance to the Buddha statue is located on the mountain, you have to climb a few steps. The hike was a bit breathless, but the mountain air was pleasant. Upon reaching the summit, you'll find a different world within. A large reclining Buddha rests peacefully within, his eyes serene. The limited light in the cave creates a sense of mystery surrounding this Bodhisattva. It's a great place to hide from the rain and admire the lifelike carvings on the mountain walls, which are also not to be missed. After descending the mountain, there are other beautiful and lifelike Bodhisattva statues to see.

It was very big inside. It happened to rain that day. I walked for a long time and got soaked. As soon as I walked into the door, I felt a deep and profound atmosphere.

The Xinchang Giant Buddha is located in the southwest of Xinchang County, in the valley between Nanming Mountain and Shicheng Mountain. Inside a cave in Xianji Rock on Shicheng Mountain, outside the cave stands the magnificent Main Hall. Outside the hall, water gurgles, and inside, fragrance lingers. It is the core area of the Big Buddha Temple. Regardless of your purpose for visiting the golden body of the Buddha, regardless of whether you are mentally prepared or not, as soon as you step through the door of the hall, everyone will feel an invisible awe. The statue is solemn, with kind eyes, and even smiles and stares at every "mortal", but no one can avoid this feeling. The statue's base is 2 meters high, the body is 13.74 meters high, the head is 4.8 meters high, the ears are 2.8 meters long, and the nose is 1.48 meters long. The entire statue is well-proportioned, fully considering people's viewing angles. It is called "the largest Buddha in Jiangnan" by scholars.

If you don't believe in Buddhism, there is nothing special about the area, and there are no other relatively special attractions in the scenic area. But if you believe in Buddhism, it's a different story.

By Pi Tao Ke |

There are few tourists, but it gave me plenty of surprises. This is fate. I just walked here and saw Asia's largest reclining Buddha and the small mountain Maitreya Buddha, which is quite similar to the Leshan Giant Buddha. The Big Buddha Temple is located in the mountain stream, surrounded by swaying bamboo forests, which is a Zen atmosphere. In the alley of the Big Buddha Temple, I had a cup of freshly picked Big Buddha Longjing tea, and the sharp rain dripped along the tile rocks, and suddenly I wanted to escape into Buddhism.

By Heather red tiles |

The entire scenic area is 25 square kilometers. We only walked the most important 2.5 square kilometers because of the tour group. Most of the people in the entire scenic area are locals, so there are very few people and the environment is very quiet. Although there are artificial landscapes, they are also very good.

The area is quite large, with many new attractions and even the "Shooting the Condor Heroes" (Shooting the Condor Heroes Village) being a popular destination for tourists and pilgrims. The Big Buddha Temple, while a bit of a stamina and time-consuming to reach, is quite impressive, as it was built with the Buddha in mind.

This place is called the Oriental Dunhuang, enough for a whole day of fun

By Xinyi |

Very good, the reclining Buddha is quite spectacular, and the big Buddha stands in the cave. The cave is dug out and a temple is built outside.

By J'ia wheat |

Although it's not very interesting, it's a famous local spot after all, so I went there with my family. Parking is very convenient. If we eat at the restaurant inside, we can enter directly without paying the entrance fee.

By Jasmine |

Entering the main gate, not far from the main reclining Buddha is the first. The two lakes in front of the Buddha are very small. It's best not to see them. This was my first time inside a cave, and I imagine the Yunlong Grottoes felt similar. It's very cool. The grottoes are just smaller, just one cave. Compared to the golden statues in Fenghua, the Budai Monk here is carved from stone. It's not as magnificent. But amidst the green mountains and clear waters, there's a sense of nature, tranquility, and peace.

By Migogo |

I love being surrounded by vast expanses of green. If you stay in a restless environment for too long, you lose yourself and can't find your true self. The Big Buddha Temple is more like a natural oxygen bar. I desperately breathe in the fresh air, reluctant to leave. The setting sun shone through the trees, and when I looked up, I could vaguely see the dust in the air.
