After the visit, take a sightseeing bus up Foding Mountain, home to Huiji Temple. Foding Mountain, also known as Baihuading and Pusading, is the main peak of Putuo Mountain. Branching branches extend south, north, and east, with the main peak at 291.3 meters. From a distance, the peaks appear like an arch, their summits stacked like cups and ladle-shaped bowls, overshadowing the stagnant water. Some say, "If you haven't visited Foding Mountain, you haven't been to Putuo Mountain."

The Foding Mountain Scenic Area, located in the northern part of Putuo Mountain, comprises Xiangyun Road, Huiji Temple, Haitian Foguo Cliff, Yunfu Rock, Daopi Rock, Bodhisattva Peak, Putuo Hornbeam Trees, and the Sky Lantern Platform. Foding Mountain is the highest point on the island. "Huading Cloud Waves" and "Chashan Suwu" are each among Putuo Mountain's twelve scenic spots. The Putuo Hornbeam Tree is unique to Putuo Mountain and is a nationally protected plant. The entire tour covers approximately 2 kilometers and lasts about two hours.

Pilgrimage to Foding Mountain is a tradition and custom of Putuo Mountain Buddhism. During the three sessions on the 19th day of the second, sixth and ninth lunar months, Buddhist disciples from all over the country worship Foding Mountain, bowing every three steps, to pay homage to Guanyin Bodhisattva.

In order to save time, we took the cable car to the Foding Mountain, where we could see the sea and Zhoushan Islands in the distance. As we walked down the mountain, the trees were dense and cool, and various stone carvings were constantly appearing. There were not many tourists.

The top of Foding Mountain is Huiji Temple, one of the three major temples in Putuo Mountain.

2010.10.5 Visited Foding Mountain and took the cable car up. The mountain is not high but it is the highest peak of Putuo Mountain.

By Lucky Qian |

We climbed the stairs for an hour to reach the Foding Mountain Scenic Area and visited Huiji Temple. There were no buses down from the top of the mountain, so we had to either walk or take the cable car down. We decided to choose the latter. The cable car cost 40 yuan per person per trip. When we got to the bottom of the mountain, we found Baotuo Temple directly opposite.

By Overjoyed and looking forward to it |

If you walk, there are many stairs, some of which are very steep. People who are not used to exercise will feel very tired. You can take the cable car up and then walk all the way down.

I went there in 2006, but I can't remember it now. Fortunately, I can still recall it by looking at the photos.

By MLWG |

As the highest point of Putuo Mountain, it is recommended to walk all the way up. The sense of accomplishment is quite high. If the weather is good, you can overlook the whole mountain. It is worth a visit.

By WingYeh |

If you come to Zhoushan Putuo Mountain, you must visit it, no doubt about it.

There is almost no waiting time for the cable car, but seeing those winding iron railings, I can't help but recall the long queues for the Huashan cable car, and even more so the cable cars swaying in the wind at the canyon mouth. My mother shudders when she thinks of it, but I think it's super exciting, hahaha!

Standing on the top of the mountain, clouds of fog came towards us. From a distance, the fog was rolling, like gods descending to the earth, like a fairyland, the sea and the clouds merged into one, stretching as far as the eye can see. The tentacles extending on both sides of the island were looming, like two invisible hands grabbing a corner of the sea.

This mountain is the main mountain of Putuo Mountain, with the highest altitude. There is an observation deck on it. Looking out into the distance, you can see the boundless sea and the wonders of mountains and seas.

It takes about 45 minutes to reach the top of Foding Mountain. Everyone said that Guanyin is very powerful this month. I thought it was because April is his birthday. It turns out that this month, the 33-meter-high Guanyin statue was once again shrouded in a beam of light, just like the consecration ceremony that year. So many people came here.

Foding Mountain is the highest point of Putuo Mountain, also known as "Bodhisattva Peak". Due to its unique geographical location, sometimes you can enjoy rare mirages and Buddha's light scenes here, so there has always been a saying that "If you don't go to Foding, it means you haven't been to Putuo Mountain."

The phrase "Fo Ding Ding Fo" (Buddha Ding Buddha) is pronounced the same whether read from the left or the right, but why are the two characters for "Ding" written in different fonts? Some say that "Ding Fo" is a Buddhist term meaning to bow down to the Buddha. Others say it refers to the Buddha statue atop Guanyin Bodhisattva's head, and that this statue is Amitabha Buddha, Guanyin Bodhisattva's teacher. The implication is that respecting teachers is the foundation of spiritual practice.

Foding Mountain is an international marathon course. If I were to climb it alone in good weather, I could reach the summit in 20 minutes.

This year I even challenged myself to climb the mountain while holding my 24-pound daughter and pulling my dog. It took me 40 minutes. Although I was sweating profusely, I was deeply moved when I heard my daughter counting and cheering me on. After reaching the top, I looked back at the scenery of the sea and sky and felt that it was all worth it.

You can eat vegetarian food in Huiji Temple before 11:50, 10 yuan per person. It is located in the right passage of the main hall.

There is a cable car in front of Baotuojiang Temple, from which you can reach Foding Mountain. Overlooking the sea and the bridge, the scenery is spectacular.

Foding Mountain is the main peak of Putuo Mountain, and Huiji Temple is located on it. A cable car (at Baotuojiang Temple) provides access to and from Foding Mountain. From Foding Mountain, take Xiangyun Road to Fayu Temple, passing scenic spots such as Yunfu Rock and Haitian Foguo Cliff.

Standing on the top of the mountain, you can see the magnificent Strait Bridge connecting Zhoushan and Zhujiajian above the sea reflected in the sunlight.

By JacksonWang |

It was okay. We took the cable car for a round trip, 70 yuan round trip. (The one-way trip is 40 yuan, but if time permits, just take the one-way trip. After going up, you can walk down the mountain to see many other attractions.) The last one going down the mountain was at 4:30. Since we were short on time, we just went to the temple to burn incense and then walked back. In short, every temple requires an entrance fee.

The highest peak of Mount Putuo. Walking up the mountain from the Fayu Temple, you will encounter many devout people kneeling every three steps.

By Over the way |

This photo was taken on the cable car. It feels like my heart is in the center of the Buddha, the Buddha is in the center of the island, and the island is in the center of the sea. Putuo Mountain is a wonderful combination of humanity and nature.

By Red Tin Man |

By Athena |

I must go there every year, and I always believe that sincerity will work.

By Yang Dazhuang |

The cable car was incredibly crowded, and the lines were long. There are two types of tickets: a one-way trip from Baotuojiang Temple to the summit, and a round-trip ticket. We wanted to take the descending trail from Huiji Temple to Fayu Temple, so we bought a one-way ticket. When boarding the cable car, it's recommended to sit with your back facing the direction of travel, so you can overlook the entire mountain below as you ascend. Once you get off the cable car, you'll reach the summit of Foding Mountain. A stone tablet inscribed with "Foding Mountain," a stone wall with the inscription "Fodingding Buddha," and a stone gate clearly indicate that this is the summit.

By Aero Zeppelin |

The highest peak of Putuo Mountain. Walking up from Fayu Temple, you'll encounter many devout people kneeling every three steps. At the highest point of the stone steps, there's a stele inscribed by Sun Yat-sen, at an elevation of 286.3 meters. There's an observation deck offering panoramic views of Putuo Mountain and the sea. The road ends at the end of the mountain.

By Flying water droplets |

I have climbed up there twice, and each time was a time of exercise and prayer, a baptism of body and mind.

By Afterglow |

At the entrance of Huiji Temple, there is a platform on Foding Mountain where you can enjoy the distant mountain and water scenery.

When the weather is good, you can enjoy such a beautiful view by taking the cable car. However, the viewing point of Foding Mountain is a bit weak and is blocked by the mountain. There is only one that is okay, but I can't remember the name. You can see the different colors of the sea water.

The scenery at Foding Mountain Scenic Area is quite beautiful, but the climb is still the most difficult on Putuo Island! However, one of the three major temples is right on top of Foding Mountain! Overall, it is quite beautiful. It is said to take almost an hour to climb, but I didn't rest in the middle and reached the top in no time, only about 20 minutes!

By iamdv |

It was so beautiful to watch the sunset on Foding Mountain. The sky was filled with a light pink, like the colored clouds after the elixir was refined.

By Heart is far away |

It takes 1,080 steps to get from Fayu Temple to Foding Mountain, which is 291 meters high and the highest peak in Putuo Mountain.

By JessieBaby |

If you take the sightseeing cable car up, you buy a round-trip ticket. In fact, it is recommended to buy a one-way ticket. When you arrive at Foding Mountain, you can worship and then walk down the mountain to Fayu Temple.

I took the cable car to the top of the mountain this morning. The view from the bottom was very good, but it was a little rainy. When I reached the top, it was foggy and I couldn't see the scenery outside. However, the mountain was like a fairyland on earth, with a hazy beauty. I also saw a monk carrying a bag and walking up the mountain road blocked by the side. Next time, I must come to see the scenery on the top of the mountain when the weather is good.

The scenery of Foding Mountain is very beautiful. What I admire most are the people selling things halfway up the mountain. I don’t know how they carry the things up. Climbing the mountain is really tiring.

It was almost all stairs, and it was a bit tiring to climb all the way up. Fortunately, there were places to rest along the way, where I could eat something, drink some water, and take in the scenery. After a good rest, I continued on my way! In Putuo Mountain, you can see many devout believers. They bowed their heads every three steps and continued to walk all the way to the top. It's really admirable!

Foding Mountain is a famous scenic spot in Putuo Mountain. Some say, "If you haven't visited Foding Mountain, you haven't been to Putuo Mountain." Foding Mountain boasts several scenic spots, including Huiji Temple, Haitian Foguo Cliff, Yunfu Rock, Bodhisattva Peak, the hornbeam tree, and the Foding Mountain Cableway. The scenic area is just across from the Xiangsheng Hotel, and there's a cable car for both commuting. My husband and I took the cable car up and then walked down the mountain path. The shuttle bus attendant told us that the path would take us to Fayu Temple, so we decided to walk down. However, after doing it once, I definitely wouldn't do it again; the path was a bit shaky and difficult to navigate. I recommend the cable car for those who come later!

If you go, you must wear a pair of comfortable shoes, otherwise it will be very tiring to climb the mountain. However, the scenery along the way is very good. You can see many ascetics on the road. There are many benches along the way where you can rest when you are tired. It is very convenient.

By Tianyun and his wife |

The scenery is beautiful and unique. The waiters are warm and friendly. I will go again next time.

Foding Mountain was the last place we visited. The cable car ride was very quick and only took a few minutes. Huiji Temple is right at the top. On the way down, a guide told us that we could continue climbing after getting off the cable car. Huiji Temple is not the highest point. I hope to climb it next time I visit.

As one of the three major temples in Putuo, it is not only a place for exercise, but also a place for cultivation.

By Qiushui and the sky are the same color |

We spent two days here. On the first day, after arriving on the island, we dropped off our luggage. The farmhouse owner was very welcoming and offered maps and suggestions for sightseeing. We followed his advice and visited Puji Temple, Fayu Temple, Foding Mountain, and finally Baotuojiang Temple. Foding Mountain is probably the highest point. We walked the entire first day, which is recommended if you're in good physical condition. The scenery along the way is beautiful. For environmental reasons, there are no private cars on the island, and islanders ride bicycles, so the air is exceptionally clean. However, climbing Foding Mountain was quite challenging. The climb was so intense that I was completely exhausted after the descent. Fortunately, you can take the cable car down to Baotuojiang Temple. The ride costs 40 yuan per person and is a short, 800-meter ride. It offers panoramic views of the peninsula, and the cool breeze is incredibly pleasant. Also, I recommend avoiding buying large incense sticks. Three sticks are sufficient for burning and worshiping Buddha (for environmental reasons). If you have religious beliefs and want to express your devotion, don't bring anything too large or thick. 😂 They're not allowed inside. P.S. You need to buy a ticket to go to the island, 140 in the off-season and 160 in the peak season. However, it seems that there are only two months of off-season in a year, January and December. The ticket does not include the incense and flower coupons for each temple. Incense and flower coupons are similar to temple tickets. There is a place to buy incense at the entrance of each temple. Three sticks for one yuan, which is quite convenient.

It's important to note that incense should be lit with your left hand, as Buddhism holds the left hand to be pure. There's a promotional video on the boat that mentions this. But as for these things, I think sincerity is fine. Since there were so many temples, I didn't take many photos.

By Cypress trees in front of the courtyard |

There aren't too many people, so it's relatively quiet if it's not Guanyin Festival or the first or fifteenth day of the lunar month. You can take the cable car or walk up the mountain.

By Want to go far away |

Climbing up is really tiring, so tiring, so tiring, so tiring. It takes amazing perseverance and explosive power to do it.

By Xu Guzi |

The first impression of the Buddha’s crown is that it immediately brings to mind the “Sutra of the Great Sun Buddha’s Crown”, which has been slandered as a false sutra. It is the pearl on the Buddha’s crown!

By ericazhu |

It was a rainy day when we went, and we were completely engulfed in mist halfway through the cable car ride. If the summit were less crowded, it would have felt like a true paradise. Foding Mountain is located at the summit, and the ride up is quite a bit long (the minibus fare is 10 yuan, and it's the best value for money). While a round-trip cable car ticket is cheaper than a single one, if you're not staying at the summit, I recommend buying a one-way ticket and taking the cable car up, then descending the other side to Fayu Temple.

By I really want to be close to the sea |

If you want to see a thousand miles, you must climb to a higher level. This is the truth. You have to stop and rest as much as you can to reach the top of the mountain.
