The Guanyin Jumping Scenic Spot is located on the southeast coast of Longwangang, Putuo Mountain. It consists of the "Guanyin Jumping Sea Stone" and Xifang Jingyuan (also known as Xifang Temple), and faces the famous Luojia Mountain across the sea.
The Guanyin Leaping into the Sea Rock is enormous and flat, perched on the side of a precarious cliff, facing the wind and preventing any tumbledown. Legend has it that this rock served as a boost for Guanyin Bodhisattva when she first leaped from Mount Luojia to spread the Dharma on Mount Putuo. It is also said that this rock was where the Bodhisattva stepped while gazing out at the sea, reflecting on herself, and cultivating enlightenment, hence the name "Guanyin Gazing at the Sea Rock." There are two special bus lines for tourist buses, connecting many scenic spots in Putuo Mountain.
Route 1: Puji Temple East (Baibusha) - Baibu Pavilion - Zizhulin (Nanhai Guanyin Open-air Buddha) - Samadhi (Nantianmen) - Ferry Terminal - Haifang New Village (Xishan New Village District 1) - Seafood Garden (Xishan New Village District 2) - Baotuo Hotel - Puji Temple West (Xishan Scenic Area Entrance)
