Jiangxin Island, located to the north of Wenzhou city, lies across the middle reaches of the Oujiang River. It is long from east to west and narrow from north to south. It is one of the four famous islands in China.
Since Xie Lingyun visited Jiangxin Island and left behind the famous line, "Clouds and sun reflect each other, the sky and water are both clear and fresh," Meng Haoran, Li Bai, and Du Fu have also composed poems about it. With over 800 poems extant, Jiangxin Island is known as China's Poetry Island.
In the fourth year of the Jianyan reign of the Southern Song Dynasty (1130), Emperor Gaozong of Song stayed at the Puji Monastery on Jiangxin Island for 16 days. He later ordered the Shu monk Qingliao to preside over the Puji and Jingxin temples. Qingliao reclaimed the Zhongchuan River and built Zhongchuan Temple. After a memorial to Emperor Gaozong, he bestowed the name Jiangxin Temple, which became revered as "Emperor Gaozong's Dojo." The modern-day eminent monk Hongyi also spent his summer retreat here. This earned Jiangxin Island the reputation of the Eastern Buddhist Isle. Every building on Jiangxin Island tells the story of this poetic and Buddhist island, embodying the island's distinguished character: its isolation yet tranquility, its harmonious balance of movement and stillness.

Jiangxin Island, located in the middle reaches of the Oujiang River north of Wenzhou city, is long from east to west and narrow from north to south. It is one of China's four famous islands. Its scenic beauty, with its twin towers towering in the east and west, and Jiangxin Temple in the background, has earned it the nickname "Penglai of the Oujiang River."
Travel Notes in Wenzhou, Zhejiang
Jiangxin Island Scenic Area, come here to enjoy the scenery (a little disappointed), 30 yuan/person boat ticket, similar to Xiamen's Gulangyu, is located on an island.
The above can be considered a park, with only Jiangxin Temple, Revolutionary History Memorial Hall, East and West Towers and other landscapes. Some of them are still under maintenance and construction. I hope they will get better and better.
I saw local people coming here to fish, exercise and relax.
Jiangxin Island, located in the middle reaches of the Oujiang River north of Wenzhou city, is long from east to west and narrow from north to south. It is one of China's four famous islands. Its scenic beauty, with its twin towers towering in the east and west, reflects the Jiangxin Temple, earning it the nickname "Penglai of the Oujiang River." Famous poets throughout history, including Xie Lingyun, Meng Haoran, Han Yu, Lu You, and Wen Tianxiang, have all left their mark on Jiangxin Island.
Over the centuries, scholars have penned nearly 800 famous poems lamenting Jiangxin Island. The island boasts numerous historical sites, including the Song Wenxin Temple, Haoran Tower, Xiegong Pavilion, and Chengxian Pavilion, as well as museums, a revolutionary martyrs' memorial hall, and a workers' sanatorium, all of which are protected cultural relics at the provincial and municipal levels. The island also boasts a children's playground, an amusement park, a Lover's Island, a bonsai garden, a development park, the Cannes Celebrity Photography Residence, and Gongqing Lake.
Jiangxin Temple is located on Jiangxin Island, Lucheng District, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. In the seventh year of Tang Xiantong (866), Puji Zen Temple was built on the East Mountain of Jiangxin Island. In the second year of Song Kaibao (969), Jingxin Lecture Hall was built on the West Mountain across the river. In the first year of Shaoxing (1131) of the Southern Song Dynasty, Emperor Gaozong of Song granted permission to change Puji Zen Temple to Longxiang Zen Temple. Because the temple is located in the river, it is commonly known as "Jiangxin Temple". During the reign of Emperor Ningzong of Song, the temple was selected as one of the ten temples in the world. Over the next 800 years, the temple was repeatedly abandoned and rebuilt. In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Jiangxin Temple was on the verge of collapse. It was restored in 1952. It was returned to the Buddhist community in 1985. In 1983, Jiangxin Temple was designated as a national key temple in the Han area.
On both sides of the temple gate are inscribed with a double-character couplet written by Wang Shipeng of the Song Dynasty: "The clouds dissipate morning after morning, the tide recedes day after day."
Jiangxin Island requires a ferry ride from downtown Wenzhou. Scenic spots like Jiangxin Temple and the British Legation Quarter are located in the central and eastern parts of the island. A newly built park is located in the west, so don't miss it if you're short on time.

To the south lies Gulangyu Island, and to the north lies Jiangxin Island. Nestled at the mouth of the Oujiang River in Wenzhou, Jiangxin Island, one of China's four famous islands, boasts stunning scenery. Its twin towering towers, like the Jiangxin Temple, create a striking backdrop, earning it the nickname "Penglai of the Oujiang River." Rich in cultural heritage, Jiangxin Island is known as China's "Island of Poetry." Famous poets throughout history, including Xie Lingyun, Meng Haoran, Han Yu, Lu You, and Wen Tianxiang, have all left their mark on the island. Nearly 800 poems have been written by scholars over the centuries. Furthermore, in 1997, Jiangxin Island was designated one of the world's 100 historical and cultural lighthouses. As summer arrives in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, taking a ferry to the island under blue skies and white clouds offers a unique and captivating experience.
Buy a ticket at the pier and take a boat. It takes about 5 minutes to reach the other side. It is recommended to spend 1 to 2 hours. The scenery is beautiful on a sunny day.
For tourists, those who have never been there want to go there, and those who have been there don’t want to go there again. For local people, it’s actually a good idea to take their families there to relax during the weekend.
Wenzhou Jiangxin Island: Towering twin towers and lush ancient trees rise above the Oujiang River, creating a poetic and picturesque scene. A gentle ferry ride lulls you into a dream, while pavilions and towers steeped in history, each a whisper of culture, a touch of fresh elegance in the urban landscape.
Jiangxin Island is worth a visit, and you should spend at least half a day there.
Jiangxin Island is truly beautiful, with historical heritage, natural scenery, and impressive architecture, including the ancestral hall of the national hero Wen Tianxiang. It's well worth a visit.
It is a pretty good tourist attraction in Wenzhou city. It is said to be one of the four famous islands in China. However, except for Gulangyu, I have never heard of the others before.
The transportation is very convenient, right in the city center, not too tiring, and the scenery is also good
If you haven't been there, you can go and feel the local life.
I didn't know this until I arrived in Wenzhou, but I discovered that Jiangxin Island is actually quite famous historically. Both Li Bai and Du Fu wrote poems here. There's also a shrine dedicated to Wen Tianxiang and the rather large Jiangxin Temple. The low walls along the river are decorated with poems from literati and poets of various dynasties, making it no wonder it's called the Poetry Island. A wall on the island reads: "China's Poetry Island, the World's Ancient Navigation Beacon." Access to the island requires a round-trip ferry for 30 yuan per person, with no additional entrance fee.
This is the best spot in downtown Wenzhou. I can't think of anything else to see. Take the ferry over. There are towering green trees.
One of China's Four Famous Islands. Located on the Oujiang River, it is accessible by boat. There are two lighthouses and the Jiangxin Temple on the island. The lighthouse is the prototype of the hometown of CP9 in One Piece. The couplets in the Jiangxin Temple are very similar to those in the Jiangnu Temple, using the double characters "长" (long) and "朝" (chao), making it very famous.
In spring and autumn, it is a great place for family outings and picnics!
I researched Jiangxin Island before coming here. It's said to be one of the Four Famous Islets. Aside from Gulangyu, I'd never heard of the other three. A cold snap hit during the New Year's Day holiday, and it was incredibly cold. After strolling through Wuma Street, we finally boarded the Jiangxin Island ferry at 5 a.m. The river can't compare to the sea, and the distance is so short, only taking about two minutes to reach the other side. The scenery is truly beautiful. Near the pier are several two-story buildings, including a British-style building that once housed the consulate. The central part of Jiangxin Island has some previously developed, now dilapidated, amusement park facilities, and the western part appears to have been fenced off for development, but it's still unfinished. It's a testament to Wenzhou's former ambitions and its current decline.
Located in the Oujiang River in Wenzhou City, this is a small island. It is not as famous as Xiamen's Gulangyu Island, but it is low-key and beautiful, with good history, culture and scenery.
A small island in the Oujiang River in Wenzhou city, with parks and temples on it
The island is lush with trees, including many ancient and famous trees, which form a unique landscape.
Banyan trees, ancient camphor trees, pavilions, ancient towers, and the quiet and lush green scenery immediately calm people down and give them a sense of the south.
If you haven't been there, I suggest you just look at it from the other side of the river. There's really no need to go up.
Jiangxin Island is located in the middle of the Oujiang River in Wenzhou. You can take a boat to get there, which is not expensive. The scenery on the island is very beautiful.
This small island not far from downtown Wenzhou is a great place for leisure. Buses run to the ferry terminal, where you can take a boat across to the island. The island is undergoing maintenance, and some roads are closed. It's probably not peak season, so the island's recreational facilities are a bit deserted. However, the island is popular, making it a great place for family activities, couples, and wedding photography. There are some vintage items on the island worth checking out. The night view is quite beautiful, and the price is reasonable, making it worth a visit.
Wenzhou's characteristic scenic spot is a small island in the river. On the island are Jiangxin Temple, the Revolutionary History Museum, and two ancient towers, which can be seen from afar.
Jiangxin Island is a magical attraction. Most attractions end around 17:00.
But it doesn't, it operates until 23:00. The lighting on the island is very good.
Visiting Jiangxin Island at night is also a different feeling
Although it is one of the four major islands, there is really nothing to see. You can just walk around it as a park. I am not from Wenzhou and have never heard of it before. It feels like a by-product. The cultural atmosphere is not strong. Many of them are just plaques and are not open (or very small). It is not interesting to just rush around. If you value your time, it is recommended to skip this attraction.
On the second day of our two-day trip to Wenzhou, we visited Jiangxin Island. As its name suggests, Jiangxin Island is an island in the middle of the Oujiang River. The island boasts beautiful scenery, with twin towers rising from the east and west. Small yet elegant, it's a must-see.
The carrier of Wenzhou's history and culture, there are many historical relics. Especially the couplet
It's just a park on the island. There's nothing interesting there.
Jiangxin Island is Wenzhou's most iconic attraction and one of China's Four Famous Islets. Its scenic beauty, with its twin towering East and West Pagodas framing the Jiangxin Temple, has earned it the nickname "Penglai of the Oujiang River." Famous poets throughout history, including Xie Lingyun, Meng Haoran, Han Yu, Lu You, and Wen Tianxiang, have all left their mark on Jiangxin Island.
I am a local and I often go there. The scenery is beautiful, the ticket price is cheap, and there are not many people. It is comparable to Gulangyu Island. The park is also large. I like it very much. I recommend everyone to go there.
Jiangxin Island is quite standard, nothing special, you can go and have a look
One of China's four famous islands, but quite disappointing, the scenery is average, and it is only supported by historical poems. I left after less than two hours.

The island also boasts a children's playground, an amusement park, a Lover's Island, a bonsai garden, an expansion park, the Cannes Celebrity Photography Residence, and Gongqing Lake.
The historical and cultural attractions are far better than some of the more famous Jiangxin Islands. Although the two towers are damaged, they are still very distinctive.
The ticket for out-of-town tourists is 30 yuan, and the boat ride takes two minutes to reach Jiangxin Island, which is a garden with nice scenery, but there is nothing special about it.
Jiangxin Island has a concentrated distribution of scenic spots, combining ancient and modern, Chinese and Western culture, a strong cultural atmosphere, and beautiful garden scenery, making it a great place for leisure.
It's just a park, but it takes two or three minutes to get there by boat.
One of Wenzhou's must-see attractions, the scenic area is not big, but there are many historical buildings that are worth seeing!
One of China's four famous islands, but the scenery is just average
Jiangxin Island is known as the "Penglai of Oujiang River" and is one of the four famous islands in China. It has beautiful scenery and unique natural landscape and is the golden business card of Wenzhou.
A great place to kill time. It can be said to be a paradise for children.
It is the most iconic place in Wenzhou, with a strong cultural atmosphere.
It's a very ordinary park. There aren't many people and nothing to do. It's not worth going there specially.
A small island similar to Gulangyu Island. You need to take a boat to get there. There is basically no commercial activity on the island, and the only snacks are the original corn tea eggs. The scenery is beautiful and very relaxing.
The small island in the middle of the river where I took a boat ride has some cultural relics and people are taking wedding photos there.
Jiangxin Island is a nice place. I stayed there alone for a whole day. The island has beautiful scenery, historical sites and rich cultural landscapes. It is a shining pearl on the Oujiang River and has always been known as the "Penglai of Oujiang River".
Jiangxin Island, a small island in the river, has a beautiful environment! Take a boat to the island.
Wenzhou Jiangxin Island, the boat ticket is 50 (including round trip). The island is quite large, with some Chinese-style buildings and some Western-style buildings. I saw people taking wedding photos, and there is also a water playground.
Jiangxin Island is a wonderful place; I spent a whole day there alone. Over the centuries, countless literati and renowned figures have penned nearly 800 famous poems lamenting the island. The towering East and West Towers, framing Jiangxin Temple with a unique touch, are a truly captivating sight. The ten scenic spots of Jiangxin Island, preserved for centuries today—Misty Rain in the Spring City, Moonlight on the Oujiang River, Rhythm of the Tide at Menglou Tower, Returning Sails from a Distant Harbor, Fishing Fires on Sandbank, Bamboo Breeze in the Pagoda Courtyard, the Fragrance of the Sea Eye Spring, the Setting Sun in Cuiwei, the Morning Glow at Haidian, and the Snow-covered Shadows of Luofu—make for unforgettable experiences. The island is home to lush and verdant ancient and renowned trees, surrounded by mountains and waters, dotted with pavilions and terraces, and complemented by bridges and pavilions. The scenery is captivating and captivating. It boasts a children's playground, an amusement park, a Lover's Island, a bonsai garden, a development park, a Cannes celebrity photography studio, and Gongqing Lake, earning it the reputation of a "paradise on earth."
An island in the Oujiang River in Wenzhou City. It's not very big but the environment is good.
Basically, this is a tourist attraction that all locals have visited. There is a ferry to the attraction. There is also a Ferris wheel. You can go there at night. I forgot what time it closes. You can check and buy tickets in advance.
Located in the city center, it is a must-see attraction in Wenzhou. We were lucky to catch a double rainbow on the day we went there.
I went there when I was a freshman in college. The scenery was just average. The ticket price was about 10 yuan (student ticket). The island is actually quite big, with two towers in the east and west. The east tower is very old and there is a banyan tree on it.
At 7 p.m., take a look at Jiangxin Island in the evening. The island is located in the city, between the Oujiang River and under the night light. It is beautiful, lovely and quiet. Moreover, with the wonder of ancient towers, the seclusion of ancient temples and the poetry of ancient people, it has become one of the "Four Famous Islands of China".
It is a blessing for Wenzhou to have such a clean place in such a noisy city!

The overall feeling is pretty good. The ancient buildings are quite charming.
It's just okay. The night tour was exciting for me. Other than that, the scenery is just okay. The location is quite interesting, in the middle of the river. It has a certain history and some antiques, which reminds people of what this place looked like in the past.
A beautiful place, worth a walk~~~~
I always thought the land of the wealthy was all about the rich and the poor, but I never expected such beauty to exist in the city. It's very cultural. 25 yuan per person, including round-trip boat tickets.
The scenery of Jiangxin Island is pretty good. You can take some literary and artistic photos there. It is suitable for taking night views at night. Many people take wedding photos there.
A childhood memory... You need to take a boat from Jiangxin Pier to the island, and be sure to return before the last boat leaves in the afternoon. Any later than that and you'll have to take a speedboat... and the surcharge is quite steep. It used to be a popular amusement park for Wenzhou residents. It had fun, food, and was a picnic spot, a must-have for wedding photos. Now it's a bit desolate... The last time I went was for a company event to visit the Jiangxin Island Martyrs' Cemetery...? West Park is open now, and it's said to be quite nice, but I haven't been there. If you're visiting Wenzhou and have nothing else to do, Jiangxin Island is definitely worth a visit.
Jiangxin Island in Wenzhou, along with Guyu Island in Xiamen, Fujian, Dongshan Island in Dongshan County, Fujian, and Lanyu in Tainan, Taiwan, is known as one of China's Four Famous Islets. It is located in the Oujiang River. Transportation: There are two options for reaching Jiangxin Island: by water and by land. By water, you can take a ferry across the river from the Jiangxin Ferry Terminal on Wangjiang East Road. Tickets for the Jiangxin Island Scenic Area are available at the ferry terminal ticket office, offering free round-trip boat rides. Admission to the Jiangxin Island Scenic Area is 25 yuan, with half price for students. If you choose to travel by land, you can drive across the Dong'ou Bridge and follow the path connecting the bridge to the scenic area to enter the island. Buses also stop on the island; take bus No. 46 to the Jiangxin Xiyuan bus stop. 2. About the Tour: Take a boat from Jiangxin Ferry directly to the Jiangxin Island Scenic Area Pier on the island's east coast. Once the boat docks, follow the path up to the island. The first thing you'll see is the former British Consulate in Wenzhou. This imposing three-story Western-style building, painted gray-brown, features a vaulted-column exterior corridor, exposed walls, and brick-arched windows. Walking east from the Consulate, you can circle the island counterclockwise. Continue eastward, following the stone steps up the mountain. Halfway up the mountain, you'll find the Linqing Pavilion, a place for rest. Standing on the mountainside, you'll have a panoramic view of the magnificent Oujiang River cascading eastward into the sea. You'll also be able to see the island's most famous East and West Pagodas. The East Pagoda is sturdy, the West Pagoda slender; its roof is flat, the West Pagoda pointed; the East Pagoda is more austere, the West Pagoda more ornate. At the easternmost end of the island, you'll find the scenic spots of Returning Sails from the Distant Port and the Haidian Dawn Glow. Near the riverbank, reeds and clumps of green aquatic plants grow. A short distance north and then west leads to the lake area. The lake on the island is called Gongqing Lake. Willows lining the shores and the expansive emerald waters are a breathtaking sight. Continuing west, past the ancient Huaiqing Pavilion and Nine-Curve Bridge, we gradually enter the western part of the island. The western part of the island is primarily a recreational area, with a large children's playground, popular with parents and children on weekends and holidays. It offers a wide variety of attractions, from roller coasters to canyon rafting. Notably, it also boasts Wenzhou's largest Ferris wheel. At night, a ride on the Ferris wheel and the captivating nightscape of the Oujiang River is a truly captivating experience. The western part is also a dining hub, with restaurants and a barbecue food court. If you're hungry after your island tour, these are a great place to dine, though prices are a bit pricey. After exploring the west side, return to the east. On the way back, you'll pass Xiegong Pavilion, dedicated to Xie Lingyun, the founder of landscape poetry. Further east, you'll arrive at Haoran Tower, not far from the landing dock. The tower's name comes from a line from Wen Tianxiang's "Song of Righteousness": "In man, it is called Haoran, overflowing as it fills the vast universe." This is often a place for visitors to rest and refresh before leaving the island. It's a great place to quietly listen to the rhythm of the tide, drink wine, and recite poetry. After touring Haoran Tower, return to the dock to board the boat, concluding your Jiangxin Island tour. Regarding island duration: If you're confining your visit to the eastern part of the island, expect 1-2 hours. A complete circuit of the island will take about half a day. Spending a day or two on the island is also a good option, allowing for more time for exploration.
Xiaoou Jiangxin Island at dusk, where you can experience a very beautiful sunset and feel the flavor of nature facing the wind.
When you climb up Jiangxin Island, you can see the East Tower and the West Tower. Both the exterior and interior of the towers are very gorgeous and beautiful.
Jiangxin Island, located in the Oujiang River north of Wenzhou city, is an island in the middle of the river, stretching from east to west and narrowing from north to south. It's a must-see destination in Wenzhou. The island boasts historical sites such as the East and West Pagodas, built during the Southern Song Dynasty, as well as the former site of the British Consulate in Wenzhou, part of the former British Concession. Here, you can explore Wenzhou's history from the Southern Song Dynasty to the opening of the port. The scenic area consists of two main sections: East Garden (Jiangxin Park) and West Garden. The West Garden primarily features recreational facilities, while the East Garden is home to cultural attractions and historical sites. While driving from the Dong'ou Bridge to the vicinity of West Garden is possible, many visitors choose to take a bus to Jiangxin Wharf and then take a short ferry ride from East Garden to the island (ferry tickets are included in Jiangxin Island admission). The two parks are interconnected, requiring a single entrance ticket, though separate tickets are required for the West Garden's attractions. People usually explore the island on foot. Although most temples and memorial halls close around 5 pm, many people don't mind. In their view, the bustling night view of Jiangxin Island on both sides of the river amidst swaying tree shadows is the real reason to visit this island. It is especially pleasant to drink a beer in the garden bar nearby, enjoying the river breeze and admiring the night view of Oujiang River.
Every city has a quiet place.
It's really not interesting at all. It's not fun. The place is not big.
The current in the middle of the river is very strong, so you need to take a boat to cross to the middle of the river. There is a temple with a couplet on the door: The sea water falls day after day, and the floating clouds disappear day after day.
A good place for leisure, suitable for taking the family for a walk on weekends
It's quite good, well built, 25 yuan for admission, with student ID discounts. It was very windy, and the ferry ride was quite good. It's suitable for couples, families, and families. I was lost when I went up there alone.
A must-see attraction for Wenzhou people. I had a great time going to Jiangxin Island during my spring outing when I was a kid.
The boat ticket is 25 yuan, which is more expensive than my previous trip to Gulangyu, Xiamen, which was 8 yuan. This place still can't be compared with Gulangyu. I went to Gulangyu and came here, but I didn't feel anything. I was a little disappointed.
A famous scenic spot in Wenzhou, smaller than Gulangyu Island, divided into two parks, East and West. It is a good place for students to travel in spring and autumn, and it is a good place to cool off in summer.
It is known as the "Island of Poetry". The entrance fee is 25, including round-trip ferry.
