The world-famous Shaoxing rice wine is brewed with water from Jianhu Lake. Lu You spent his later years in seclusion by the lake, enjoying the picturesque scenery. It's no wonder he maintained a lifelong passion for poetry and swordsmanship.
The islands of Jianhu Lake are elegant, connected by various bridges. Bridges abound, yet the numerous bridges connect them in all directions, creating a fascinating and captivating experience.
Famous attractions include Jingshui Bridge (one of Shaoxing's most famous floating bridges in ancient times), Xijin Bridge, Huaqiao (where Lu You, after retiring to his hometown, often came here in his small painted boat to fish), and Wannian Stage (this Jiangnan water town stage faces east and is surrounded by water on two sides, overlooking Jianhu Lake. It recreates the charm of community opera and theatrical performances described by Lu Xun).

Jianhu Lake in Shaoxing, a flowing landscape of the Jiangnan region, shimmers with the gentle charm of a waterside village amidst its rippling emerald waters. Wupeng boats gently sway beneath ancient bridges, the aroma of wine wafting through the air, a glimpse into a thousand years of history. This lake has been a source of inspiration for scholars and a haven for tourists seeking hidden gems. Every brick and tile bears the incense of time, a scene that invites lingering.
Jianhu Lake is one of Zhejiang's famous lakes, located approximately 1.5 kilometers southwest of Shaoxing City. Originally named Mirror Lake, it is said to have been named after the Yellow Emperor, who cast a mirror there. The Jianhu Scenic Area, located at the foot of Keshan Mountain, is a major part of Jianhu Lake. Its beautiful scenery blends seamlessly with the Keyan landscape while also offering a unique perspective.
The lake is small, with many additional charges. There is a long stone bridge, but otherwise it is very ordinary.
I personally think that the biggest attraction of Keyan Scenic Area is Jianhu Lake. Walk in from the Keyan Scenic Area to the cruise ship pier (the scenic area ticket includes round-trip boat tickets), queue up to take the ferry to Jianhu Lake. Jianhu Lake has a better view than Keyan. A long bridge connects the shore on the wide lake, which feels like an enlarged version of West Lake.
The scenic area is not big and is fenced off for construction everywhere. Walking along the white jade causeway, bypassing the Hushang Tower, and then returning to the Jiudao Wharf, you can basically finish your stroll.
Jianhu Lake is actually quite large, though it is much smaller today than it was in history. Jianhu Lake is the representative of Shaoxing, roughly equivalent to West Lake in Hangzhou and East Lake in Wuhan today.
You need to take a boat tour to visit Jianhu Lake and walk along the ancient towpath. Several stone bridges are full of ancient style.
Jianhu Lake Scenic Area is located in the Keyan Scenic Area. The ticket is included in the Keyan Scenic Area. There is an ancient towpath across Jianhu Lake, and there are special boats for pick-up and drop-off.
There is a combined ticket for Keyan, Jianhu and Lu Town, and there are also shuttle boats. Compared with the artificial scenic spots in Lu Town, the natural scenery of Keyan and Jianhu is more fascinating.
The most noteworthy attraction in Jianhu Scenic Area is undoubtedly Jianhu Lake. Known as Shaoxing's "Mother Lake," its stunning scenery is truly captivating. Lu You, a renowned Southern Song Dynasty poet, once remarked, "A thousand gold coins are not worth buying a painting; listen to my long song of Jianhu Lake." The most photographic spot on Jianhu Lake is the Long Bridge. The bridge and the lake, the lake and the sky, form a harmonious unity. Walking across the bridge, a casual photo captures the harmonious beauty of heaven, earth, and humanity.
Jianhu Lake is actually a small island, and I always feel that a road like this will lead to falling into the water.
It is located in the Keyan Scenic Area, which is not very big.
The Shaoxing rice wine, which is famous in the city, is brewed from Jianhu Lake.
The islands in Jianhu Lake are elegant. The small islands are connected by different bridges. There are many bridges everywhere. Although there are many small bridges, they are well connected and interesting.
The entire Keyan Scenic Area is not large, and we spent less than 2 hours to visit it. It has very local characteristics and the scenery is also very nice.
The entire Jianhu Lake is composed of several natural islands. An ancient towpath is particularly eye-catching, just like the Su Causeway in West Lake, but the ancient towpath is more experiential. Walking on the towpath, it seems as if you are floating on the water. The river network is dense, and there are flowing water, green willows, egrets and wild ducks playing, which is a natural Jiangnan ink painting.
Very good, suitable for a walk in autumn, take pictures to choose a good angle
When the weather is clear, it's like a mirror, so beautiful...
It has a very water town style and is surrounded by water. You can take a boat. Be careful of mosquitoes!
Keyan--Jianhu is a scenic spot, the remnant of the ancient Jianhu Lake, with beautiful scenery.
Walking up the Shanyin Road is like swimming in a mirror
"The waters of Yuezhou, like Jianhu Lake, are vast, with a circumference of 358 li and 36 sources around the mountains." Jianhu Lake, also known as Mirror Lake and South Lake, is interwoven with the remains of the ancient East Jianhu Lake and the old Shanyin waterway of the ancient Grand Canal in eastern Zhejiang, forming a dense water network and a good ecological environment.
Jianhu Lake, named after the water itself, is Shaoxing's "Mother Lake." Built by Ma Zhen during the Eastern Han Dynasty, it fell into disrepair after the Southern Song Dynasty. Today, the western section of the ancient lake has been partially restored with pavilions and towers, lush vegetation, and a poetic, pristine rural landscape.
Jianhu Lake, with its people as its soul, is imbued with spirituality. The pride of Shaoxing residents, the purity of Shaoxing wine, the spirit of Shaoxing City, and the city's fame are all closely linked to Jianhu Lake. The charm of ancient Jianhu Lake is woven into the customs and traditions of Yuexiang.
I never knew the story of Jianhu Lake, but I learned about it after returning home.
I learned about this attraction from the "Jianhu Lady" in history books.
All of them were rated as exceeding expectations, which is a very true evaluation. Because I was young at that time, I had never seen the world. Children are very naive. When we were sitting on the boat, the tour guide said that the water of Jianhu Lake is of mineral water quality. I quickly drank up the mountain spring water in my hand and then filled a bottle. My companions didn't dare to drink it, but I took a sip, and hey, it was really sweet!
Located in the Keyan Scenic Area, the large lake is charming.
It's a good place for weekend leisure, but the scenery is nothing special to recommend.
Jianhu Lake is located in the Keyan Scenic Area. The water quality is quite good. I heard that Shaoxing rice wine uses this water. It feels very comfortable to sit on a black-winged boat and raft on the lake.
Located southwest of Shaoxing City in Zhejiang Province, Jianhu Lake is one of Zhejiang's famous lakes. The saying "Jianhu Lake stretches eight hundred miles" captures the vastness of its time. Jianhu Lake is a Jiangnan waterside scenic area ideal for sightseeing, leisure, and vacations. It comprises six scenic areas: Dongkuahu Bridge, Kuaike Pavilion, Sanshan, Qingshui Gate, Keyan, and Hutang, as well as the Hunan Mountain Tourist Activity Area. Jianhu Lake boasts not only unique natural scenery but also numerous historical sites.
The scenery is really nice, and it's fun to be with friends who know how to play.
This lake is very big and is the source of rice wine. The scenery is nice.
Jianhu Lake is a historic lake. For over 1,800 years since its establishment, its unique and beautiful scenery has been a true treasure trove of charm. The Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai wrote, "The waters of Jinghu Lake are like the moon, the women of Yexi River are like snow." Southern Song Dynasty poet Lu You sang, "A thousand gold coins do not buy paintings; listen to my long song about Jianhu Lake." Ming Dynasty eclectic scholar Yuan Hongdao wrote, "People before the Six Dynasties had not heard of the beauty of West Lake." A Qing Dynasty poem by Qi Zhaonan praises the lake: "The long white jade causeway, the small painted boats with black sails."
Take a boat to Keyan, and when you get off the boat you will reach Jianhu District, which is an island in the middle of the lake. It feels so-so.
It happened to rain when I went there, but the rain was relatively light. It was because of the rain that many people did not want to go out, but it made me feel the charm of Jianhu Lake even more.
As the saying goes, "Jianhu Lake is eight hundred miles long", you can imagine how wide Jianhu Lake was in the past. Due to human factors, now you can see Jianhu Lake together with Keyan Scenic Area, so you can see all three attractions together.
Wupeng boats, turquoise water, weeping willows, cliffs, can be combined by a pool of water. There are not many tourists. It is quiet and unusual. Walking along the lake, occasionally thinking about Lu Xun's Wupeng boats, thinking about Zhu Ziqing's Qinhuai River, and entering the world of literati
The scenery is quite beautiful, it is a place for leisure
The lake is very big and the scenery is nice. It is nice to sit on a large sail boat, enjoy the scenery and take pictures.
The scenery is OK, and it is recommended to visit.
It is said that the Yellow River uses Jianhu Lake as its water source, and Lu You also lived here in his later years. The lake is quite large, and walking around it makes you feel refreshed.
This scenic spot is definitely worth visiting. It's a large area, divided into three main parts: Keyan, Jianhu, and Luzhen. Keyan is the most fun, like a large forest park. It's huge, with many small attractions, such as the large black felt hat, the big pond, and the Brave Road! We mainly took a boat to enjoy the scenery at Jianhu. Luzhen is a small town similar to a film and television studio, with a stage, pawnshops, restaurants, and more. We even bought two bottles of fermented bean curd in Luzhen: one spicy and one smelly.
In short, you can spend a whole day in this scenic spot!
It's big, you can take a boat tour, use the Keyan pass, you need to take a small team, it's really a super big lake
Jianhu Lake, Keyan Lake, and Luzhen Lake are all part of the Keyan Scenic Area. They are very large. Jianhu Lake is a very large lake. It is nice to walk along the lake and there are small paths that go through the lake. There are also water bikes, but the area for playing is relatively small and you will get bored after playing for a while.
The ancient jade causeway on the lake has no railings and the view is unobstructed, but you must pay attention to safety.
Although Jianhu Lake is known as the ancient Yue River, it now looks overly artificial. However, most of the buildings still retain a distinctly ancient feel. The stage in the center and the small temple, said to be from the Han Dynasty, which I passed by on my way to Keyan, still give me a sense of the richness of history. However, the actors in Jianhu Lake who performed Lu Xun's works were quite annoying. Xianglin Sao was tolerable, but the actor who played Ah Gui was truly repulsive, lacking any sense of human numbness.
Ah... what a huge lake... full of water... the blue is water...
Recommend this place for sightseeing. The scenery is good.
Very beautiful and worth a visit with Lu Town. Tickets include free boat tickets.
The water is clear and the scenery is beautiful. Walking around Jianhu Lake will make you feel refreshed.
The park is free and popular, making it a great place to take children for a spring outing. The Shaoxing Science and Technology Museum next to it is also great.
Jianhu Lake is actually a very long and narrow river with nice scenery. It can be seen in front of the Keyan Scenic Area.
One of the three relatively simple attractions, not much to see
It’s so fun, there are water, mountains, boats to ride, and the scenery and air are all great.
The Jianhu Lake landscape truly resembles a bonsai, especially from the top of the mountain looking down. The stone bridges across the lake add a lot of interest, especially for taking photos. You can also ride a wupeng boat, which is much more enjoyable than the one in the city!
Jianhu Lake is part of the Keyan Scenic Area. It has a vast surface area and picturesque scenery. You can feel relaxed and happy while boating there.
no reason, no reason
Jianhu Lake has a nice view. It is said that Shaoxing rice wine is made from the water here.
Shaoxing is a man-made landscape, not very interesting. There seems to be an antique street in Lu Town.
It's connected to Lu Town. Not very interesting. There are some traditional Shaoxing Wupeng boats.
It is connected to the famous Keyan Scenic Area and is included in the package. It is worth a visit for leisurely wandering.
The ancient plank road, a long and thin bridge across the water, has a beautiful view.
Jianhu Lake is very beautiful but not very popular. The environment and services need to keep up.
Jianhu Lake, located within the Keyan Scenic Area, is known as Shaoxing's "Mother Lake." Not only is its scenery breathtaking, but the world-renowned Shaoxing Old Wine is also brewed from its waters. Tickets cost 115 yuan, and the combined ticket includes Keyan, Jianhu Lake, and Luzhen. From Keyan, a boat ride takes you to Jianhu Lake. Jianhu Lake is a picturesque scene of elegant and picturesque waterside scenery, with its carved rocks, black felt hats, black-sailed boats, and clear waters. It's a perfect place to relax and experience the unhurried charm of Jiangnan. Particularly impressive is the wine vault inside, where, with your ticket, you can enjoy a free glass of authentic Shaoxing rice wine.
This is not bad, walk around and relax, it is a package attraction
The ticket is for all three attractions, and also includes the boat tickets between them. The most important thing about Jianhu Lake is the scenery, and the ancient towpath is particularly charming.
Jianhu Lake belongs to the Keyan Scenic Area. There are water, bridges and trees. You can sit down and rest and breathe some fresh air!
It is nice to take a boat on Jianhu Lake, both in spring and autumn. The ancients said that when the boat is on the blue waves, people are swimming in a painting. It feels just like that.
Jianhu Lake is a package ticket booked together with Keyan and Luzhen. It is located between the two scenic spots. The package includes a shuttle boat. There are also black-sail boats here, which require an additional fee. The package also includes a rice wine tasting. It is brewed for 8 years and only a few drops are given. It is strongly recommended not to buy it here. It is too expensive. There are many Guyue Longshan specialty stores in the city, which are more than half the price. This seems to be the filming location of the new Legend of the White Snake.
Remember that song? Jianhu Lake—as a kid, I often heard it on the radio: "Local waters and soils nurture local people." Shaoxing is a city with a distinct flavor. There's no need to deliberately advertise it; the flavor remains the same as it was when we were little. It's just that we ourselves, caught in the whirlwind of history, don't know what to do. Just like Jianhu Lake, the water remains beautiful, the people remain kind.
Beautiful scenery, suitable for the whole family to play
We took a boat tour of Jianhu Scenic Area and stopped at several scenic spots to see them. It would be very tiring to walk. I feel that Jianhu Lake is still very big.
The scenery is pretty good and you must experience the sightseeing on the lower lake.
The scenic area is very large and requires a boat ride. The mountains, rivers and waters are beautiful and the scenery is very beautiful.
Jianhu Lake is the mother lake of Shaoxing people. In the Keyan Scenic Area, you can take a boat to visit the island. The characteristics are not obvious enough and it is just average.
Jianhu Lake is quite simple, just a very long ancient towpath, but I love this road very much, I just like the feeling of walking slowly on the long road.
I got off the bus and took this photo at the bus stop across the road from the entrance to the Keyan Scenic Area. Across the street is a village called Xinmo Village. It's very beautiful. Zhejiang's villages are all very beautiful and prosperous. It has the charm of a Jiangnan water village. There are housewives washing clothes by the river and old men rowing wooden boats by. It has a unique atmosphere of life.
Before entering the scenic area, I walked around the entrance of the scenic area. This is a memorial archway on the shore of Jianhu Lake, with a stone tablet behind it that reads "Jinghu Lake".
Jianhu Lake is Shaoxing's "Mother Lake." Its 800-li lakescape is captured here, and a long bridge connects the lake's waters. Half a forest of maple leaves is a picturesque sight, and the valleys flanking its banks are shrouded in autumn. The common saying "800-li Jianhu Lake" conveys an idea of its former vastness. Jianhu Lake is not a natural lake, but a renowned water conservancy project south of the Yangtze River, the remnant of the ancient Jianhu Lake after its flooding and abandonment. In the fifth year of the Yonghe reign of the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 140), Ma Zhen, the prefect of Kuaiji, mobilized civilians to build a dike to retain water. This dike, which collected water from 36 sources in Shanyin and Kuaiji counties, irrigated over 9,000 hectares of farmland, benefiting the people immensely. It is one of the largest water conservancy projects in ancient Jiangnan.
The current Jianhu Lake is about 15 kilometers long and covers an area of 3 square kilometers.
