Lishui Ancient Street

丽水古街

It was built on the water storage dike on the east edge of Yantou Village. The dike was built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. At that time, the local clan stipulated that only planting flowers and trees and building pavilions were allowed on the dike, and building houses and doing business were not allowed.
Today, Lishui Street is a large commercial street in Yantou Village. It is about 300 meters long and has more than 90 stores. It also has a tourist shopping center that specializes in selling local specialties of Nanxi.
At the south end of the ancient street is the south gate of the village wall. There is a Chengfeng Pavilion on the high steps beside the gate. Less than 50 meters away from the pavilion is a reception pavilion with double eaves and a simple and solemn appearance.
The houses are covered with eaves to provide shade and shelter for pedestrians. The Lishui Ancient Bridge connects the two pavilions, adding a beautiful landscape to Lishui's commercial area.

Lishui Ancient Street, located in Yantou Town, was built during the Qing Dynasty and stretches over 300 meters. Once a long corridor connecting over 90 shops, the corridor, built along the waterfront, winds along the water's surface. Red lanterns hang beneath the corridor, reflecting the towering green shadows of ancient trees. Along the street, visitors can admire scenic spots such as the Lishui Ancient Bridge, the Jieguan Flower Pavilion, and the Nanxi Stone Fortress, making it a well-worth a visit.

Lishui Ancient Street was built on the dike at the eastern edge of Yantou Village. The dike was constructed during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. At that time, local clans stipulated that only tree planting and pavilions could be built on the dike; no houses or businesses were allowed. By the Qing Dynasty, the dike became a necessary route for salt carriers. By the end of the Qing Dynasty, the dike had developed into a commercial street of considerable size.

Wenzhou | Lishui Old Street

Built in the Qing Dynasty, it has a history till now.

The total length is more than 300 meters.

In the old days, there were more than 90 shops connected by a long corridor.

The corridor is built along the water.

Following the winding water,

There are red lanterns hanging in the corridor.

Facing the green shadows of towering ancient trees.

The stone road is long and the ancient bridges of Lishui are one by one.

The beauty of the flower pavilion sits on the reception table.

The peak tower watches over the mountainside.

Cool under the eaves in the hot summer,

There is no noise outside the city.

⚠️The river water in the scenic area is quite dirty, it feels! Although it is a century-old ancient street, the overall sanitation is a bit disappointing. However, the scenery is indeed beautiful, especially the aerial photography, and of course it is also very cool. It is recommended to stay for 1 to 3 hours.

Lishui Ancient Street, a shining pearl of Wenzhou, evokes a sense of ancient charm and the flowing water of the people. Winding corridors, red lanterns reflected in the water, and ancient buildings tell stories of time. As night falls, the lights and moonlight intertwine, creating a dreamlike experience of stepping into the Jiangnan region. This place is more than just a cultural corridor; it's a poetic haven for spiritual rest.

By Chu Yunfei QQ |

If you go there at night, you will find the ancient street corridor a beautiful sight. The curved corridor has a red lantern hanging in each room, and its reflection in the stream is very beautiful.

By Night Head |

One word pit, two words, huge pit. The whole scenic area is closed during the off-season. Okay, then you should tell me when you sell tickets. If you just collect money and all the shops are closed, what's the point of this ancient street? It's better to go to the town next door for fun and there are more delicious foods.

By Got a nickname |

I was very impressed! It's not big, but it has a lot of character! Locals probably don't pay for tickets. I went there with a backpack and couldn't see the main entrance. I was already inside when someone caught up with me, collected my entrance fee, and gave me a legitimate ticket.

By China-TravelNote users |

It's just a small river, but it's dirty and messy, and they charge 15 yuan for an entrance fee. The whole family was disappointed after driving 80 kilometers there.

By Blue blue road |

It's an ancient street along the river, not too long. But it's nice to sit by the promenade and listen to the rain at night.

Lishui Ancient Street on the Nanxi River in Yongjia, Wenzhou, Zhejiang.

This is a very suitable place to go when the lights are on. Firstly, the beautiful scenery can be seen at this time, and secondly, the ticket collectors are off work at this time.

By Cute winter |

There are still many people living on Lishui Ancient Street. It is quite commercialized and there are not many attractions to visit. I ate a bowl of lean meat soup there.

By Mai's Divination |

Yongjia's most famous ancient street seems to have taken you back to ancient times.

By Hurry |

When you hear the name Lishui Ancient Street, everyone's first reaction is roughly the same as mine: isn't this in Lishui? Actually, it is not. As one of the scenic spots of Nanxi River, Lijiang Ancient Street shows an ancient style, and everything here is so old and vicissitudes of life.

By Hao Jiling |

Lishui Ancient Street is really just a street, but it is not a long street. Business is not developed and there is nothing.

By yonger0807 |

The night is hazy, and the lights are dim in the corridors of Lishui Ancient Street. The bustling and quiet have all fallen silent, and I seem to hear the call from the bottom of my heart. The ancient trees on the street have a history of hundreds of years.

By Next door wine |

The night view of Lishui Ancient Street is very beautiful. Friends who have plenty of time can stay overnight to see the night view.

By Aisi |

It's not in Lishui, but in Yantou Town, Yongjia. This old street can actually be entered from multiple intersections. It's a boring place to visit. It's just a street by the river. First, it doesn't have an ancient feel. Second, most of the shops on the street are closed. Even the commercial atmosphere is weak, and it looks bleak and deserted.

By Rokujo Ninharu |

Lishui Ancient Street is Yantou Town's main commercial street. Despite being a commercial street, it's practically deserted, with merchants seemingly uninterested in business. Instead, it has a more homely, urban feel. At the end of Lishui Ancient Street stands an ancient banyan tree, and a stone bridge spans the river, creating a quaint and tranquil atmosphere.

Lishui Ancient Street was built on the dike at the eastern edge of Yantou Village. The dike was constructed during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. At that time, local clans decreed that only flower planting, tree planting, and pavilions were permitted on the dike; building houses or engaging in commerce was prohibited. During the Qing Dynasty, the dike became a necessary route for salt carriers. By the end of the Qing Dynasty, the dike had developed into a commercial street. Today, Lishui Street is Yantou Village's largest commercial street. It stretches over 300 meters and features over 90 two-story shops, each approximately 3 meters wide and 10 meters deep. In front of the rows of shops, a 2-2.5-meter-wide path is left. Eaves provide shade and shelter for pedestrians.

By Dream Breeze |

It has some characteristics, but it is still a little behind Xitang and Anchang. The parking lot is very small and parking is difficult.

By Living in nature |

Wentang Piaofei: The carvings are very exquisite. It lacks the embellishment of a prosperous era, but has a touch of the atmosphere of an ordinary family!

By Taoyao |

It's a unique street. The weather was very good when I went there. The dogs were lying lazily and sleeping. It was quite relaxing. There are other attractions to visit. The single ticket I bought was 15 yuan. You can check out my Wenzhou travel notes https://m.mafengwo.cn/nb/public/sharejump.php?type=7&id=7856164

By Full Moon |

Lishui Ancient Street is like a crescent moon. When night falls and the red lanterns light up, it looks even more beautiful. However, there are many mosquitoes near the water, which is hard to guard against.

The several-mile long corridor stands by the water, with several small bridges and a few big trees, creating a pastoral scenery.

It is already typical commercialized and doesn't have much distinctive features.

Before coming here, I saw on the Internet that "If you don't visit Yantou Lishui Street, you haven't been to Nanxi River", especially the night view is very beautiful.

The Yantou combined ticket is 40 yuan (including Lishui Ancient Street, Furong Ancient Village, and Cangpo Ancient Village). We did not buy the combined ticket. According to friends, there is no entrance fee for Cangpo Ancient Village. The staff at the ticket office of Lishui Ancient Street were off work after 5 o'clock in the evening. Moreover, the night view of Lishui Ancient Street is relatively beautiful, so we chose to go in after 5 o'clock and get free admission.

In the rainy ancient town, curls of smoke drifted from somewhere, mingling with the mist and floating on the lake, creating a dreamlike scene. The pebbles on the paths, washed by the drizzle, gleamed brightly. The ancient village still retained its ancient pavilions and towers. The steady drizzle didn't dampen our spirits.

As the sky darkened, we headed straight for the Lishui Long Corridor. It was stunningly beautiful, and I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. The lights were on, and large red lanterns hung high. On one side of the corridor were beautiful chairs, and on the other were shops selling local specialties. It was similar to other ancient towns, but this one was more rustic, less bustling with commerce.

Lishui Street is not long from beginning to end, with a total length of more than 300 meters. It doesn’t take long to walk around it, half an hour is enough.

By June Lotus |

When you come to Yongjia, you must visit Lishui Ancient Street, where lanterns are hung high and small shops are lined up.

By Judy |

I really don't recommend it. The river in the picture is okay, but the other side is seriously polluted. There's only one passageway, and it takes 5 minutes to get in and out, and it's completely unremarkable. I still took a few photos as a souvenir.

No entrance fee is required at night, but 10 yuan during the day. The street is very short, similar to other ancient towns, and it is also the Wenzhou branch of Yiwu Small Commodity Wholesale Market.

Arrived at Lishui Ancient Town around 17:00

I have seen comments from beekeepers saying that the staff do not need tickets after get off work in the evening.

I think it's almost time for us to get off work, so we shouldn't pay the 15 yuan per person store fee. We can use the money we save to buy some fruit.

Are you frugal enough?

I shamelessly asked him what time he would get off work.

But the staff won't tell you exactly.

We went out to buy some fruit and about ten minutes later we saw them getting off work.

There are actually tour guides bringing tourists here at this time

Lishui Ancient Street is quiet at night and the scenery may not be as beautiful as during the day.

However, the lanterns on the street at night also have a unique charm

By KO~Black Rice |

When I walked to Lishui Ancient Street in the evening, I felt like I was walking into Xitang Ancient Town. The Jiangnan small bridges and flowing water, the Lishui Long Corridor with red lanterns, and the ancient and charming B&Bs were very impressive.

By Begging for food |

You can take a look, but if it charges a fee, forget it.

Or you can wait until the staff get off work before going in. We arrived late and walked in through the small path in the village next to it.

The big trees and the pond are quiet and pleasant.

As it gets dark, look at the big red lanterns lighting up along the river, glimpsing the fleeting glimpse of light.

We bought some fireworks and set them off. What remained was the smell of the fireworks and our excitement.

By Sea breeze boat |

Lishui Ancient Street is located in Yantou Ancient Village, one of the traditional cultural ancient villages of Nanxi River. This street extends in an arc along Lishui Lake. The ground is paved with pebbles, which is quite distinctive.

By Big Orange |

Lishui Ancient Street is quite unique and can be visited in the morning and evening without a ticket. It is just one street, about 300 meters long.

By Nannan |

Arrive in Yantou Town that evening and check in, then walk to Lishui Ancient Street. You'll arrive around 9 PM, so no tickets are required. Daytime tickets are 10 yuan per person, but you can purchase a separate ticket or a combined ticket to Furong Village.

There's a street about a hundred meters long in Linshui, which lights up a row of red lanterns at night. It's rather uninteresting. It's very commercial, with shops selling souvenirs and snacks along the street. I went there hoping for the ancient charm of the street, but ended up being quite disappointed.

Living in southern Fujian, I've never experienced the Jiangnan water towns. Lishui Ancient Street, located in southern Zhejiang, gives me a distinctly Jiangnan feel. Admission is 25 yuan. It preserves the former study areas of wealthy families. The surrounding old houses and cobblestone streets are reminiscent of those in my hometown. Most importantly, the wooden houses along the river evoke a Jiangnan water town vibe.

Lishui Street is an ancient street along the river. It is well connected. Tickets are required to enter both ends, but you don't need to buy tickets at night...

By Bright Sun |

To be honest, Lishui Ancient Street doesn’t feel that great. It’s just an ancient street built by the water. Maybe it’s because I have seen too many similar ancient streets, so I don’t have a high opinion of Lishui Ancient Street. However, the snacks sold there are indeed the snacks that the post-90s generation ate in their childhood. You rarely see them nowadays, snacks that cost only 50 cents or one yuan.

This small, ancient village, a perfect place to visit alongside Furong Village and Linkeng, resembles many other places in Zhejiang Province. After all, many years ago, this part of the Yangtze River Delta had a somewhat leisurely, small-town feel. Going there with a few friends is a great way to relax and unwind, and from the hustle and bustle to the tranquility, it's a truly enjoyable experience to slow down and take a break.

By Hu Jieyan |

Lishui Ancient Street is a short street with water on one side and houses on the other. Local villagers still live here. Friends who have been to some ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River will find this place uninteresting, and it is just a shrunken ancient town street.

Lishui Street is not only an ancient street, but also an ancient village to visit. The scenic area closes at 5:30, and then you can enter for free. However, the street along the river is really charming, especially when the lights come on.

It is a bit like the Misty Corridor in Xitang, which is full of shops. When evening comes, the lanterns light up and it feels like an ancient town.

By Heart is far away |

There are small bridges, flowing water, houses, stone paths, dense trees, beautiful scenery, and a very good environment.

By TiiNA |

Tickets are available as single tickets or as a package, with a similar price difference, but you get access to two more places. While the style is similar to Wuzhen and Xitang, the scale is incomparable. Because of this, there are fewer people and, naturally, a less commercial atmosphere. It's definitely a great weekend getaway.

By No 2 |

It's a pedestrian street with many old buildings on the side.

Although Lishui Street is the symbol of Nanxi River, there are small commodity shops along the street and many trees planted, which affects the photo effect and the experience is not good. The only good place to take photos is on the water-friendly platform at the far right end.

By Little Bee |

Lishui Street, a beautiful street nestled along the Nanxi River, runs along the mountainside. It's a small town street, renovated in a traditional style, and the atmosphere is quite pleasant. I went there during the day, on a sunny day, and the restaurant scene wasn't quite up and running yet, as the street is still under construction. It should be even more beautiful at night.

By Yuner |

I went there in the evening and didn't charge admission. I looked at the promenade and walked on the cobblestone road. Not bad

By Huang Xiaomao |

It's a rare sight to see so few people here! It's well-preserved, without any excessive renovations or commercial atmosphere, and it's low-key yet meaningful. It couldn't be better.

Tourists can also enter and exit the residential area. It is very quiet and not crowded.

Compared with the Jiangnan water towns, it has more tortuous local characteristics and a more natural attitude.

A five-star recommendation for friends who are tired of city life and popular scenic spots.

By Vespasian |

Located in Yantou Village, there are people collecting entrance fees when you walk along the main road, but there are many entrances to enter. The old houses in the ancient street are all inhabited by the villagers themselves. They have been in disrepair for many years. There are also places to stay but the conditions are not very good. It feels especially good in the evening.

By Mountaineering Photography |

Yantou Lishui Ancient Street, the long causeway in spring dawn, the Li Bridge for viewing lotus, the clear pond for viewing fish, the Qin Island for watching warblers, the towering green Bifeng, the water pavilion in autumn moon, the winding stream surrounded by green, and the Pagoda Lake reflecting the moon.

By You once said that you felt sad |

There are fewer people at night and no tickets are required. It's nice to take pictures and pretend to be artistic.

By Ugly Little Witch |

After visiting Longwan Lake, I stopped by Lishui Ancient Street in the evening. Admission is free at night, and the red lanterns are quite beautiful. While many people say this place is commercial, aside from the entrance fee during the day, the local farmers sell local specialties and snacks at reasonable prices. You can buy seasonal fruits like kiwis and pomegranates, which are cheaper and more delicious than in downtown Wenzhou. At night, we enjoyed a barbecue outside the ancient street, which was also cheaper than in the city, and it was quite pleasant.

By Mu Yi Qing Feng |

The scenery and artistic conception are better than the Misty Corridor in Xitang, because there are not only corridors, water and bridges here, but also mountains and ancient towers.

By porridge |

At the southern end of Lishui Street is the south gate of the village wall. Near the gate, on a high step, stands the Chengfeng Pavilion. Less than 50 meters away, there's also a reception pavilion, featuring a double-eaved, arched roof and a simple, solemn appearance. Together with the Lishui Ancient Bridge, these two pavilions add a beautiful touch to the commercial landscape of Lishui.

This place shows an ancient style, everything is so old and vicissitudes.

By Three rest days |

A very unique little street, smaller than Xitang, but with its own unique charm. The villagers are very simple and the food is delicious. Although it is not as prosperous and there are not as many literary shops, it is very Jiangnan, very authentic, and not so commercialized. I like it!

By Sloth Popo |

Lishui Ancient Street, also known as the Lishui Corridor, is located on the water storage embankment east of Yantou Village in Yongjia, Wenzhou. Access is a bit inconvenient, but you can take a minibus to get there (search Baidu for details). We chartered a car for our entire Nanxi River tour. As one of the attractions along the Nanxi River, I feel this Lishui Ancient Street is far superior to Xitang and Wuzhen. It's less touristy and less overtly commercial than ancient towns like Xitang. The cobblestones and red lanterns of this ancient street reflect its quaintness and timeless charm. It's perfect for photography, sketching, and strolling, away from the hustle and bustle, and its ecological preservation is well-preserved. If you're visiting Nanxi River, I highly recommend this place!
