We followed the crowds in the darkness to the sunrise viewing area, where we waited for the sun to rise. There's no single ideal spot for sunrise viewing in Sanpanwei, but any open space is suitable. Due to the heavy cloud cover that day, we didn't see the sun rise above the sea level; we only saw the golden edges of the clouds touching the sea, outlined by the sun's rays.

This is the essence of the island, but the transportation here is still very inconvenient!

I only remember getting on the chartered car we had arranged the day before before daybreak and arriving at the entrance in about 20 minutes. When Wang Lifu first arrived in Nanji in 1913, he inscribed the fifteen characters "In the eleventh month of the Republic of China, Wang Hairan landed by sea" on the stone wall of Sanpanwei in Dasha'ao. He later recruited farmers and workers and deployed boats to escort the island, greatly facilitating transportation. After more than twenty years of hard work, he gradually recruited immigrants, spending tens of thousands of yuan, and the island's population grew to over 10,000, officially becoming Nanji Township. Turning back, on the eastern shore of Sanpanwei, looking from north to south, amidst the regular formations of large and small rocks, stands a massive rock resembling the Guanyin of the South China Sea, its benevolent gaze cast into the distance. On the opposite side, there is a stone in the shape of a monkey bowing with its hands clasped in worship on the standing rock peak. This is the famous Monkey Worshiping Guanyin.

A little after 6 a.m., a hint of morning glow appeared, but the sunrise was nowhere to be seen. Half an hour later, it was already full daylight. Seeing that the sunrise was going to be a waste, I headed to the natural lawn in front to explore. From here, you can see a long ridge extending all the way to the sea. Along the way, there are strange rock formations like Monkey Worshipping Guanyin, Tide Sound Cave, Flying Rock, and Wind-Moving Rock. I blame my own lack of imagination for not seeing the connection between the rocks and the names of the attractions. The natural lawn isn't large, located on a gentle slope between the two peaks, but it's covered in green grass. Visitors lounge on it and take photos, making it a great spot for a rest. Walking from the natural lawn towards the cape leads to the seaside boardwalk. This wooden plank path stretches in all directions, sunken into the ground, making walking along it feel like guerrilla warfare.

On the way back, we walked along the narrow path along the sea, admiring the blue sea, huge rocks and fishing villages. The long coastline was lined with strange rocks. I opened my arms and roared a few times.

At the end of the third round, we need to take the shuttle bus to Nanji Island. This is the last stop of our trip to Nanji Island. It can be said to be the biggest highlight of Nanji Island tourism. The meadows and the sea line are very beautiful. It's a pity that we didn't spend more time there. The whole way was walking on the trenches built to defend against foreign enemies. This section of the hike is quite enjoyable, but the July heat is quite dissipating. The sun is scorching, and there's not a breath of wind. We were sweating profusely, and it was impossible to enjoy the sea view.

Sanpanwei, with nothing but strange rocks and dense forest, is a truly astonishing natural meadow. Despite the daily trampling of countless people, it hasn't eroded a path, nor has it grown wildly like the surrounding weeds. From a distance, the lawn appears smooth and clean, and visitors flock to take photos. At the top of the lawn stands a square pavilion called the Baijing Pavilion, the highest point in the area. From here, one can take in the panoramic views.

When you leave, take the scenic area exit, and the scenery along the way is all about the seaside reefs. This scenic area is closed after 12 noon, so unless you want to walk for several hours back to the hotel, you should go there in the morning and play for several hours before leaving at 12 o'clock.

I was secretly glad that I didn’t get up at 4:30 to watch the sunrise. The bus to Sanpanwei can really be compared to a "roller coaster". The three consecutive sharp turns are nothing. The bus drivers here are no less skilled than FI drivers. Look at this drift... After arriving at Sanpanwei, we asked an islander uncle to be our guide. The tour guide gave a relatively detailed introduction, and basically mentioned everything that should be introduced.

A 30-minute drive brought us to Sanpanwei. We began admiring the sunrise. Unfortunately, the clouds were thick, so we couldn't see the sun rising from the sea. While I didn't get to see a satisfying sunrise, the joy wasn't lost. We still had our source of happiness, and even while waiting, we could still be high.

They'll walk you all the way to the natural lawn and explain the various rock formations, making it a good deal. If you just want to take photos and relax, there's no need for that! Sanpanwei will definitely not disappoint! The scenery is stunning!
