The scenic area includes the Huanjiang River and the landscape belts on both sides of the river. The various theme pavilions inside can learn about Xi Shi's life.
Xishi Hall is the most worth seeing in the entire scenic area. The wood-carved windows inside represent the essence of Zhuji folk architectural art.
The Chinese Ladies of All Ages Museum near the entrance collects stories of famous women in history, mainly about the "Four Beauties" - Xi Shi, Zhaojun, Diao Chan and Yang Yuhuan.
Even if you don’t visit any tourist attractions, it’s still pleasant to just drink tea and shop along the ancient-style Guyue Street and look at the washerwoman sculptures by the river.

📍Xishi Hometown Scenic Area
🚩Zhuji, Shaoxing, the hometown of Xishi! Located southeast of Xishi Bridge on Huanjiang River, it is an important part of Wuxie National Key Scenic Area, Zhuji's only national scenic spot.
The main attractions include the Heron Bay Ancient Fishing Village Scenic Area, a waterfront landscape centered around the Huansha River, the Ancient Yue Culture Zone, and the Museum of Famous Ladies of All Ages (a rare exhibition hall in China dedicated to famous Chinese women throughout history). On the day of the tour, we encountered a live demonstration of Zhuji's unique delicacies, which attracted a large number of tourists. Zhuji's glutinous rice cakes have been well-received by both Chinese and foreign visitors.
⚠️The best places to take photos are the old houses around Yuchang and the area around the central lake.
💰Ticket price: NT$100
8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Xishi's Hometown was built around the title of the ancient capital of the Yue Kingdom. However, it's worth noting that the area lacks any historical or cultural buildings; it's simply a large, man-made park. Thousands of years have passed, and the remains of the Yue Kingdom have long since vanished. However, the legend of Xishi, the girl washing her silk at the foot of Zhuluo Mountain, remains, hence the creation of a "hometown" theme park.
This is also the reason some people criticize Xishi Temple and Fan Li Temple in Xishi's hometown, claiming they're purely fabricated. However, this is a bit harsh. The Xishi statue and the Washing Silk Pavilion already existed in this area during the Ming Dynasty, so restoring them now is understandable. However, two points need to be made clear, otherwise future visitors might be disappointed. First, there's no longer a place as poetically named "Huansha Creek." This is a point I don't quite understand. There's a river in Xishi's hometown, but it's called the "Puyang River." Perhaps for historical reasons, they didn't dare change the name for tourism. Currently, there's a pavilion called the Washing Silk Pavilion and a stone called the Washing Silk Stone built by the river, offering some solace. Second, there's no real "Zhuluo Mountain" anymore, as this place can't be called a mountain. Thousands of years have passed since the mountain where Xishi Temple stood was flattened into a plain. The current names "Zhuluo Pavilion" and "Zhuluo Mountain" are merely scrappy approximations of the scenery.
Xishi's hometown, a cultural treasure of Zhuji, is a place where classical gardens and historical legends intertwine. A stroll through it feels like traveling back to the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, encountering the legend of a captivating beauty. Exquisite architecture, clear streams, and lively performances weave a vivid historical canvas, allowing every visitor to appreciate the charm of classical beauty.
It was the perfect time to dine at the scenic spot during the New Year and enjoy the quiet and pleasant night tour of Xishi's hometown. The light show at the scenic spot is definitely worth a thumbs up.
Needless to say, this is a must-visit place when you go to Zhuji.
Xishi's hometown is nice and it's quite pleasant to walk around. However, I don't recommend going to the attractions that charge fees like Xishi Temple, as they are expensive and boring.
One of the four great beauties, her story of helping Yue to defeat Wu has been passed down through the ages.
The Xishi Hometown Scenic Area includes the Huanjiang River and the landscape belts on both sides of the river. The various theme pavilions in the scenic area can help people learn about Xishi's life.
You don't need to buy a ticket to enter the scenic area. However, Xishi Hall, the Museum of Famous Ladies of All Dynasties, Fan Li Temple, the Folk Customs Museum, and the Zheng Clan Ancestral Hall are fee-charging attractions, so it is recommended to purchase a combined ticket directly.
Xishi Hall is the most worth seeing in the entire scenic area. The wood-carved windows inside represent the essence of Zhuji folk architectural art.
Xishi's hometown has beautiful scenery and is perfect for taking photos. It has a unique snack street, shopping shops, stinky tofu, sugar paintings, and glutinous rice cakes? I can't order them, but they are delicious.
The ancient style remains, the content is rich and the scenery is beautiful.
Man-made attraction. Man-made attraction. Man-made attraction.
In 2008, I visited Zhuji and the hometown of Xishi, a fairly ordinary tourist attraction. Xishi was a legend, and her statues couldn't possibly be stunning. Tickets were 40 yuan, and I figured since I was in Zhuji, I had to go see it. I still have photos from that time on my computer.
I exchanged my free ticket at the Xishi Hometown Visitor Service Center. Shaoxing residents can exchange their household registration with their ID card, but the attraction itself isn't particularly impressive. While exploring, I stumbled upon someone playing the guzheng. The lotus pond was a beautiful sight. After entering the Xishi Temple, remember to climb Zhuluo Mountain and exit through a different entrance. The other side of the mountain is slightly more open. The pedestrian street at Xishi Hometown is worth a visit. If you're lucky, you might even see a squirrel jumping in the trees, but I didn't take any photos.
Just like visiting the Yellow Crane Tower on your first trip to Wuhan, I also visited Xishi's hometown on my first trip to Zhuji. My friends in Zhuji described it as a kind of public park for the locals, nothing special. So what? I still wanted to go! When I arrived, I discovered that Xishi's hometown was filled with lotus flowers. It truly lived up to its name, the hometown of the "Lotus Goddess."
Never, ever buy a combo ticket, and never, ever go to the Fan Li Temple. Except for the Xi Shi's hometown in the combo ticket, don't go to any of the others. They are all scams, and big scams!
However, the free park in the scenic area of Xishi's hometown has a beautiful environment. In summer, the lotus flowers in the whole pond are so beautiful that they are recommended. But don't visit other paid attractions. Remember! Remember
Xishi's hometown is actually a large park. If you just want to wander around and not visit any of the attractions, you don't need to buy a ticket. If you do want to visit any of the attractions, you can buy a combined ticket online in advance for only 65 yuan, which is quite cost-effective. Tickets purchased online need to be exchanged at the Visitor Center. (However, the attractions proved to be nothing special. This is probably the most boring scenic spot I've ever visited. It's more suitable for locals to visit in their spare time.)
Xishi's hometown is quite nice, and the key is that it's free to enter. Some of the attractions require separate tickets, which is a good thing. There are quite a few tourists, but the environment is quite good. It covers a large area. Parking is charged at the entrance, but you can drive in if there's space inside. The scenic area is quite well-designed. It's nice to walk around.
I went there with Wuxie to read the allusions. If you don't have time, you don't have to go.
Xishi's Hometown Scenic Area is Zhuji City's only national scenic spot. Strolling through Xishi's hometown, driven by curiosity, I casually flipped through stories from the late Spring and Autumn Period. The history of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, dating back 2,490 years, brought back many memories. Xishi, one of the Four Great Beauties, was a peerless beauty of the Wu and Yue dynasties during the Spring and Autumn Period. Later generations built the Xishi Hometown Scenic Area in her memory. The open courtyard-style buildings, nestled against the mountain and facing the water, exude an ancient charm, embodying the beauty of the Jiangnan region—beautiful waters and even more beautiful people—a scene that will leave you spellbound. From the Guyue Terrace, the Hongfen Pond, the Shenyu Pond, the Huansha Bridge, and the Huansha Stone at the foot of Zhuluo Mountain, I seem to be able to see her beautiful figure. In the silence, I can almost hear her gentle sighs. This love, beauty, and longing that has spanned millennia has left a deep impression on my heart.
The Xishi Hometown Scenic Area is located at the foot of Zhuluo Mountain, south of Zhuji City, Zhejiang Province, on the banks of the Huansha River. Xishi, considered one of the four great beauties of ancient China, was honored by the Xishi Temple, built there. Long willow branches scatter in the water, creating a picturesque scene of lush vegetation and vibrant flowers. Spring is so beautiful! Meet the blossoming flowers, meet you.
Xishi's hometown is not in Shaoxing City, but in Zhuji, an open park.
Come here in summer when the lotus flowers are in full bloom, and the scenery should complement the name of Xizi.
There is no charge for large parks, but you need to buy separate tickets to enter several attractions. It is recommended not to buy a combined ticket. It is enough to buy a ticket for Xishi Temple alone. Other man-made attractions such as the Mingyuan Pavilion are really useless.
The so-called Xishi Hometown is a scenic area built by locals to commemorate Xishi. The main attraction is the Xishi Hall inside. It is very small and houses a statue of Xishi. You can go in and out. This is actually a park with a section dedicated to the life story of Xishi. I feel that our description of Xishi, a figure who lived over 2,000 years ago, is too mythical. This is too unreliable. Perhaps it is because people like beautiful things. We don't need so-called reality, we just want a beautiful symbol.
Rich in humanities and exquisite in architecture, Yuedu culture is a place that inspires imagination.
Xishi's hometown is composed of several small attractions, distributed on both sides of the Huansha River. The ticket price is 100 yuan. It is 20 yuan cheaper if you book online. Overall, it is still a bit of a rip-off. The most worth seeing is Xishi Temple. It is also located on one side of the river. The rest of the attractions are relatively small and are concentrated together on the other side of the river.
The hometown of the great beauty Xi Shi is in Zhuji, but I personally don’t think it’s anything special. The rice cakes are quite delicious.
Xishi Hometown Tourist Area is the only national scenic spot in Shaoxing
Xishi's hometown, a big park, I love the pomegranate yard inside, it's delicious and not expensive!
The Xishi Hometown Scenic Area is very beautiful and complete, especially the Chinese Ladies of All Dynasties Pavilion. The water and bridges of the Huanjiang River are also very beautiful.
Just wander around and think of it as a big park with a nice environment. There are not many people, and there are people taking wedding photos. The Xishi Temple opposite is also worth a look, but the ticket is really not worth the price.
We went to Xishi's hometown too late and only had time to visit the Mingyuan Pavilion. The scenery was very good and very quiet. Later, I looked at photos of other attractions on the Internet and they also seemed interesting. It was a pity that we did not go to Xishi Temple.
The scenery of Xishi's hometown is still good, you can go and have a look
It is a beautifully built open park. Every corner of the park has a different scenery, including old ancestral halls, various stone bridges, lotus ponds, pavilions, and small bridges and flowing water.
A place that records the connection between Xishi and the city of Zhuji. Since it was a group tour a few years ago, the trip was short. We mainly hiked up the mountain and took in the scenery.
When I came to Zhuji and visited the hometown of Xi Shi, I learned that Xi Shi, one of the four great beauties, had sacrificed so much for the Kingdom of Yue. Walking along the corridor of beauties and looking at the ladies of the Li Dynasty, it seemed as if I had returned to that era, when wars were raging and heroes were vying for supremacy, and women also fought for their motherland.
The bus station nearby is very convenient. There is a bus that goes directly to the train station.
There is no entrance fee to Xishi's hometown. It is across the river from Xishi Temple and you can walk back and forth from the bridge over the river before 5 pm, which is very convenient.
The entire Xishi Hometown is quite large. I felt a bit dizzy without a map. (Even though I had a ticket to the Xishi Temple and the map on the back, I didn't even look at it.)
The old local life is clearly visible. However, we were just strolling around without checking the route, and somehow we found the local specialty snack, mochi, which was delicious.
The lotus pond is very large ~ it’s great!!
It is in the city and is very convenient to find. The lotus flowers are in full bloom in summer, which is very comfortable. You can also stroll around the park outside without buying a ticket.
It was raining when we went there, and the road was muddy, so we had no interest in playing.
A combined ticket to Xishi's hometown costs 100 RMB. Aside from the Museum of Famous Chinese Ladies of All Ages and the Xishi Hall, I really don't recommend visiting the rest of the area. It's messy, small, and doesn't have much going on. I wouldn't recommend it for children, as I personally think it's primarily a cultural attraction with wax figures, brief histories of figures, and antiques, which children won't have the patience for. I went on a Saturday, so it wasn't crowded. Most of the exhibition halls weren't air-conditioned, so it felt incredibly stuffy!
Located in Zhuji, Zhejiang, Xishi's hometown, the Xishi Hometown Tourist Area is a key component of the Wuxie National Key Scenic Area, Zhuji's only national scenic spot. The planning goal, centered on Xishi culture, is to fully showcase the ancient Yue culture and the customs of the hometown, aiming to develop the area into a scenic tourist destination characterized by beautiful natural scenery, rich cultural heritage, comprehensive tourist facilities, high economic returns, and a vibrant contemporary atmosphere.
A place that chronicles the connection between Xi Shi and the city of Zhuji. Since it was a group tour a few years ago, the trip was short, so I only visited the Museum of Famous Ladies of Chinese Dynasties and the banks of the Hu River. It's a man-made landscape area worth visiting if you have time, but it seems to have now developed into a separate tourist destination.
There is a stinky tofu shop with hot and sour sauce, which is delicious. There is also a literary beverage shop, which is also very nice to sit down.
It's OK, not too big, you can go there to learn about history.
It's a quiet place with a lotus pond and a courtyard. Everything looks very comfortable.
The Xishi Hometown Scenic Area is located along the two sides of the river. There are not many people in the scenic area. The scenery is also good in spring. It is okay to walk around and take a look.
Every place in the park has different scenery, including old ancestral halls, various stone bridges and lotus ponds, pavilions and terraces, small bridges and flowing water, and small scenes to please the mind.
I have been to Xishi's hometown several times. It is not necessarily special. Maybe I have seen too many cultural landscapes like this, so I don't have much feeling about them now. If you haven't seen it, I still recommend you to go and see it. After all, there is no ticket. Haha
Xishi's hometown is Zhuji, which is also a nationally famous pearl breeding base.
Located in the heart of Zhuji City, the Xishi Hometown Scenic Area is a beautifully constructed open park. The sculptures, scrolls, and texts in the "Cultural Ladies of China" collection are beautifully integrated, offering a delightful and enriching experience. The Zheng Clan Ancestral Hall, the Fan Li Temple, and the Xishi Hall all feature a simple yet opulent architecture, with elegant towers, carved beams, and painted pavilions, all free of the artificial renovations found elsewhere.
The ticket is 100 yuan, so expensive! It doesn’t feel worth it!
It's worth a visit. You can learn about history and gain a deeper understanding of Zhejiang's customs and people.
Very unique cultural atmosphere, nice scenery
Beautiful, very nice environment. Beautiful, very nice environment.
You can learn about the story of Xi Shi. The whole park is not big, and the layout inside is OK, with pavilions and terraces.
The only downside is that the tickets are quite expensive, 100+
Town Hall and Roland on the Marketplace of Bremen
With Xishi culture as its theme, it fully displays the ancient Yue culture and hometown customs, and is a scenic tourist attraction with the vitality of the specific era that integrates natural landscapes, cultural landscapes, and tourist facilities.
The birthplace of Yue culture in Wu and Yue, this place is a bit like a small park, perfect for a morning stroll, some boxing, and listening to the old men sing songs. It's quite picturesque, but not exactly sightseeing. Even during the National Day holiday, when it's crowded everywhere, this place is quite comfortable! I arrived at 8:30 am and saw only a few local old men singing. I left at 10:30 am and there weren't many people there.
I'd regret not going there, but there's nothing special about it if I went there...
Not really worth it, no cultural characteristics, very fake
Xishi's hometown, beautiful scenery, a good place to visit
The scenery is beautiful and quiet. Since we went there during the off-season, there were no crowds.
Transportation: Zhuji Railway Station is 1 km away from Xishi Temple. Buses 1, 2, and 113 are available.
Ticket price: 25 yuan per person
In fact, the hometown of Xishi and Wuxie are quite close to each other. After all, Zhuji is not a big city, but it is very beautiful.
Zhuji Specialties
Pearls: China's freshwater pearl production base, major shopping places include: Shanxia Lake Pearl Market.
Socks: The largest socks production base in the country, the main shopping place: Datang Socks City.
Tea: Xishi Silver Tea, Shijian Tea, Wuxie Maofeng Tea, Torreya grandis Yulu Tea, etc.
Xishi's hometown is free and often organizes activities, such as food festivals. It is also a good place to go on weekends, but the prices are quite high. Across the river is Xishi Temple, which seems to require a ticket. I haven't been there, but there is a statue of Xishi.
It's similar to a museum. You can often see students studying here. It's great.
I went there because of Xi Shi's fame, but she was actually not that good.
It has a cultural atmosphere and is worth a visit. The place is not big, but it is quite insightful.
The scenery is good, there is a stage where there may be performances, and there are not many people. It is good to stroll around casually.
Actually, it is in Zhuji City, a little far from the downtown of Shaoxing. But the scenery is quite good.
Xishi's Hometown in Zhuji is a beautiful park. In the summer, people sell magnolia tofu, a Zhejiang specialty, at the main gate.
The attractions are concentrated and you can buy a combined ticket. However, I only visited the Xishi Garden, which didn't have much of a special feature. It was just sculptures, pavilions, and stone bridges, which were basically man-made. There were many small vendors shouting at the door, which was a bit messy.
The scenery of Xishi's hometown is still good, you can go and have a look
We didn't enter the paid scenic area, but just strolled along the river. The scenic area is large and the scenery is beautiful.
Xishi's hometown has two major parts. The Xishi Temple is on this side of the river, and Xishi's hometown, China Ladies' Museum, etc. are on the other side of the river. The scenic area is too empty and there are too few things to see and do. The ancient Yue Street has not been fully developed, and many shops have not yet been occupied by merchants. In short, the entire scenic area looks particularly depressed.
I just took a quick look around and didn't see anything particularly impressive.
From Zhuji Bus Terminal, take bus No. 5, Lines A and B, for 1 yuan to Binjiang Huayuan Station. Walk 100 meters to Xishi's Hometown. Zhuji is uncrowded, and its roads are a model for Zhejiang urban development. Many roads have wide, green strips in the middle, and the roads are wide. At night, the roads are poorly lit, lacking building lighting and streetlights. The city is sparsely populated, and it feels quieter than similarly sized cities. The highlight of Xishi's Hometown is the Xishi Temple across the river. The temple's scenic architecture features wood carvings on the tops of its beams and pillars. Several halls are unevenly decorated, showcasing both master craftsmanship and crude artisan work. The Xishi Temple grounds are small and can be explored in half an hour. A combined ticket for the five attractions at Xishi's Hometown costs 100 yuan, but 50 yuan is enough to visit just the Xishi Temple and explore the scenic area. The remaining four attractions are not expensive.
