How to get to Xitang? There is a tourist bus from Jiashan High-speed Railway Station to Xitang. There is bus No. 702 from Jiashan Railway Station to Silk Road Station, and then transfer to bus No. 215 or 216 to Xitang. Outsiders cannot find bus No. 210 from Jiashan Railway Station to Xitang. When bus No. 210 stops at the railway station, the lights and license plate lights are turned off! Tourists go to Xitang mainly by taxi. Bus No. 210 runs every half an hour at Weitang Street Station outside the railway station, and generally does not stop to get on the bus to Xitang. The area and length of Xitang are equal to the Zhongyue Temple in Songshan, China! It is 1.3 kilometers long and covers an area of ​​110,000 square meters. Xitang Ancient Town is not very big, and you can actually visit it in one day if you stop and walk a bit. But I see some people spend three or four days here, mainly to relax.

Xitang Ancient Town belongs to Jiashan County, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, and is located at the junction of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai. It has a superior geographical location and convenient transportation, 90 kilometers east of Shanghai, 110 kilometers west of Hangzhou, and 85 kilometers north of Suzhou.

I came here once in 2015 and again in 2019. I have visited many ancient towns in recent years, especially those around Jiangsu and Zhejiang. I have almost been to all of them. They are all similar, so there is not much novelty this time. I came here mainly to accompany my friends.

I went to Xitang in early April, and I felt like I could come back later. It was still a holiday when I arrived at noon, and there were crowds of people everywhere. After the lights were turned on at night, there were fewer people. I walked around the bar street and went back to the inn to sleep. Xitang in the early morning is most to my liking. The empty streets can finally take pictures. After walking around, there are fragrances from breakfast stalls everywhere. I ate cold noodles, small wontons and Lao Ma steamed pork with rice flour... I ate a lot on the first day, haha, I will take pictures next time and write a travelogue mainly about food and snacks. The inn at the door is more affordable, but I still want to live upstairs next time. Before leaving, I sat in the cultural and creative store for a while and bought puzzle souvenirs. The commercial atmosphere is quite heavy, and various things are not cheap, so if you want to quietly appreciate the charm of the ancient town, you can't miss the beautiful time in the early morning!

Today I went to Xitang Ancient Town with a person I like. Because it was Monday, there were not many tourists. I bought a very special Euryale ferox cake in Xitang, which tasted very special. He told me that Euryale ferox is a traditional Chinese medicine, so this Euryale ferox cake sounds very healthy. Xitang Town is not as noisy as Wuzhen, and there are fewer tourists. Sitting on the bridge head and experiencing this rare quietness is also a kind of enjoyment! The braised snails, stir-fried water chestnut rice, and wontons cooked with old duck in the snack bar let people experience the food style of Xitang. As we walked, it was dark, and we immersed ourselves in the night, leisurely and refreshing. The night light setting of Xitang is different from that of other towns. The outline of the building is rarely lit. If the sky is dark, the shape of the building is not clear enough; but the lights on the river here are clearer, so if you wait until it is sunny, the sky is blue and the lights are red, the light and shadow at this time will be cast on the water, the effect is best.

Xitang in the rain is a mood, and Xitang in the sunny day is another mood. The ancient bridge town under the blue sky and white clouds is unique. After arriving in Xitang, it seems that the pace of time has slowed down, making people feel cheerful and comfortable. The corridors in Xitang are amazing. The corridors that are hundreds of meters long can not only protect against wind and rain, but also reduce the sun, which shows the strong social awareness of the people in Xitang. But Xitang is a good ancient town, relatively large, with its own characteristics, the Ten-mile Corridor is also very good, the drinks and mineral water in the scenic area are cheap, there are many bars and inns, and you should have no problem staying in a hotel at any time. At noon, you can go to a riverside restaurant on Bar Street for dinner. Three people spent 108 yuan. The riverside environment is also good. A friend has been here to experience it. The tour guide gave me a bar coupon, but I didn't dare to go. This time I came and went in a hurry. Next time, I must stay in Xitang for one night and go to Wuzhen for two nights. Compared with the scenery of Wuzhen, I prefer the scenery of Xitang. The willows are tender and the naughty wind fiddles with the willow branches. Compared with the tickets of the same price in Hongcun, the tickets here are worth it. The public facilities in Hongcun are not well built. Compared with Tongli, I prefer Xitang.

I like Xitang and will come again. Next time I plan to stay here for a night, eat snacks, enjoy the beautiful scenery, take beautiful photos, and go to Jin Bar to feel the crazy atmosphere, although I don’t drink 👻

Except for a few attractions that require walking to the entrance in the alley, the entrance to most of the attractions is on the main road, and each attraction now has a string of red lanterns hanging at the door, which is easy to identify.

The bars in Xitang are really noisy. Even if there is a sign saying "Quiet Bar" on the door, it is useless because the whole bar street is very noisy.

This is my third time back to this thousand-year-old ancient town of Xitang.

However, when it comes to small shops, I still like Gulangyu. The night view of Xitang is much more beautiful than that of Gubei Water Town. It’s good to stay in Xitang for one night. Xitang Ancient Town is the most worthwhile ancient town to visit among the ancient towns around Shanghai. If Xitang during the day is still full of simplicity, then Xitang at night is more and more exciting as the night goes on. Xitang is close to the third parking lot, where meals are the cheapest, and the further you go inside, the more expensive it is. I measure it by the price of fried snails. The bars near the entrance of the scenic area are three yuan, and the ones further inside are eight yuan, and the most expensive is 10 yuan. After dinner, I went to the bar and chose Chujian, which I fell in love with at first sight when I passed by at noon. The set meals there are basically around three hundred yuan, cocktails are 78 yuan, and non-alcoholic cocktails are 88 yuan. I was afraid that the cocktails were too strong, so I chose the non-alcoholic one. There are three singers, and I still like the singing skills of one of the girls.
